Starting point is 00:00:00 Tomorrow it's Vancouver. They are our focus as we go kind of around the league. We've done some division profiles. We've been going coast to coast. We land in Vancouver. They finished dead last last year. As you may recall, a record of 25, 49, and 8, 58 points. That was 32 out of a playoff spot.

Starting point is 00:00:23 The 31st place team had 14 more points than they did. They were bad with a bullet. They gave up a league worst, 316 goals against. In the goals for and against, they were a minus 100. In 41 home games, they won, I believe, nine times. Nine wins. Elias Pedersen led them with points, 51.

Starting point is 00:00:50 Jake DeBrusk was the top goal getter with 23. They traded Quinn Hughes. As you recall, Thatcher Demko was once again injured and hurt for a bulk of the season. They gassed their GM, Patrick Alvin. Jim Rutherford took over. He then stepped aside. They have a new GM and Ryan Johnson.

Starting point is 00:01:07 Daniel and Hendrick Sidene installed in that front office as well. Adam Foote, let go. Manuel Hotra. He is in as the new head coach. So no shortage of changes. You can see the subtractions there. Marcus Pedersen gone, Holglander,

Starting point is 00:01:25 cane might be additioned by subtraction there. anyway, they add Luke Shen and Jamie Alexiak. This Luke Shen, because bigger body. God bless him. He's really, he's 36 years old. Yeah, they've added some Alexiak, I guess, to a lesser degree, but Brennan Gallagher is well on in his career as is Luke Shen.

Starting point is 00:01:48 They need some veterans. They want some guys around to kind of help. But it feels like they were last last year and gone from over. opening date, Quinn Hughes, Kiefer Sherwood, Connor Garland, Tyler, Tyler, Hall of those guys have been deleted. And with all due respect, Paul Carter, Mr. Cartier, this is a bet. This is a team that looks very much like it's ready to replicate its 30 second overall status. Bet 365 has their over under in terms of points at 74 and a half.

Starting point is 00:02:24 Don from the Athletic who Pinder puts a lot of stock into his his work he has the more around 69 points it's not better that's worse the one thing

Starting point is 00:02:38 and we talk to Conroy about if guys have energy and youth can be infectious and all of that they just didn't compete last year they weren't very good but you

Starting point is 00:02:49 you mentioned it on a number of occasions they just seemed they seemed disinterested listless and just kind of broken almost mentally. They threw in the towel big time. I think they've had a couple bad years, Miller and then like it's, it's been terrible. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:03:09 I. Well, even the coach. Yeah. Like I like them. Even the coach had the. Well, and even before Rick Talk, it seemed to have kind of the same body.

Starting point is 00:03:23 language when they were going through that JT Miller stuff. I'm not this is this is not this is more of them. I just want to run practice and coach. Can I watch some guys try? I don't want to be a therapist. Yeah, I'm not a psychologist therapist. Hold your hand. So good luck to Malhotra on that. He should be better.

Starting point is 00:03:47 He should be better. He should be excited. You know what I mean? Like a guy like talk that's been around. You could tell he was like, I can get somewhere else and not have to deal with this S. A halter is supposed to be a really good coach, good at motivating young guys. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:04:04 It's a lot to ask. It'll be another year of all eyes on Elias Pedersen and wondering, what are you, where are you going? What are you doing? I believe it's six more years at 11.6 million. He's 27 for years. He needs a fresh change, fresh start. Go to a new team, get a fresh start. I don't know if that happens, but all of a sudden.

Starting point is 00:04:24 The money makes a difference. Like if you eat three and you've got a 50 or 60 point guy, you're going, well, maybe. Yeah. I think the bigger issue and a long ways from Vancouver and I don't have any, this is just a casual observation that sounds like a jerk. It's his attitude. It doesn't seem like I'm missed or go get it.

Starting point is 00:04:51 There are some guys that wear it, right? And at least maybe sometimes it's unfair. We talk about Bouchard and Edmonton. He just sometimes looks like he's, you know, that he's just kind of out of it or just interested. But maybe he's, that's just something that he's,

Starting point is 00:05:05 that is not the case. And we're all wrong about that. Pedersen does give off vibes like, the Quittin's easy and quick, a lot of nights when it's hard. Why are you being hard on me? I remember that interview you did in the, against Edmonton.

Starting point is 00:05:19 It was like, yeah, it was weird. And that was a number of years ago. Yep. So as yeah, play the kids. Z. Boyum got his new deal. He's 20.

Starting point is 00:05:31 Elias Pedersen, the D-Man. Elias Pederson. He's 22. Tom Vlanders, 21, Ogren, who they got in that deal from Minnesota along with he's 22. Marco Ross. He's 24. Braden Coots, taken 15th overall in 25.

Starting point is 00:05:46 He's in the mix for a job. He's just a wee lad. He's a young. And I mean that by saying he's young. So yeah, that's no Thatcher Dempco, start the sea at least for camp and there's nothing he's done isn't he's got to be cooked he's god they faced another one of those situations like guys never never healthy and then he came back well he needs a deal christ now we got to pay him or not pay him are we not well how are we

Starting point is 00:06:10 without him 30 second oh how are we with him not 30 second where he makes he's a difference maker for us so they had to pay him but again he's injured so if you had to go on your Bet 365 app. Is this, are you taking the field or the Vancouver Canucks for 30 second overall? Starting point is 00:06:35 Yeah. Yeah. They'll be last. That's saying something. What do we got here? Well, we got goalie. We might be second last. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:06:47 Yeah. It's probably the best thing for them. Now, again, it would be great if you did finish last, if you got a first overall pick or something resembling, not dropping to three or four or five, that's a quicker way to turn things around when you can have the top rank prospect in your system by the next season. Well, that's if they got landed DuPont, they boo him, you them, and they got Mahaltra and
