No. I don't know. I'm not as convinced as a flat out. Absolutely not. I mean, clearly we're all, no one's inside and has inside, like who knows what the hell's going on. but from afar, it just feels like their plan was always the guy

they'd been grooming for nine years to be their head coach. Yeah, but that doesn't mean that Tortorilla didn't appreciate the fucking throwing them out there under the bus. I mean, they're a couple wins away from it being the ultimate success story. Yeah, like if they win,

are we sure he's back? Or is it still potentially this outcome? Well, because of this, I think it does change. My thoughts on it. If, yeah,

because it all, like I say, it almost went as well as you could expect. what boarded it? Well, you have to win the cup. Two weeks before the end of the regular season. Yeah, they were not leading their division. We're not going to say, well, we're going to run right to the cup final here.

If they stub their toe, they could have missed the playoffs. And instead, they were two wins shy of a cup. It's hard to not have, it's hard to go better than it did. There, there were. some who felt like the, some of the moves made by Torterella in the final. There was stubbornness to it. There was some stubbornness to it. The utilization is Barbish, with Barbichev and Barbachev and the struggling, and things that you could have done,

the heart goal tender, the, the, the coach's challenge that was highly, highly, ever unlikely to be successful. And then doubling down on it, post game,

saying I'm 100 out of time. And I mean, that's fine. That's what you do. But I'm kind of with you. I think that there was, we will talk about this at the end and see how it goes and it was great until it wasn't and well that's just it this was

there were amazing this is great we're up yeah and you talk about about you know his comments to me that was kind of a telling thing because again I speak you know I speak that language yeah well no Tortorella when he was talking I'm leaving my clothes here there's nothing

oh this is stupid as quick like he was panicked and with good reason when he was talking about the team, like they are a good team and they will be back. And I want, I want a coach. Like he planted those seeds to let it be known. I don't think he's looking to coach the Vegas Golden Knights necessarily.

I think he's letting it be known. I'm out here, but I am looking to coach. My gut is that he wanted to be back. Because I don't know when you look around, you're going to find a situation as good as this one. You probably also did it like you're thrown under. Well, yeah.

There's only two spots open. Yeah. And this is way better than the other one. Yeah. I don't think he's saying, I need to coach before the start of the next season. It's just, well, I think he wants to coach. And honestly, I think he, you know, whatever happened, we don't know, we're playing the guessing game. But immediately the takeaway is like, I think this guy has to be on Edmontson's shortlist if they're serious.

Do you this towards comes back to Canada? That's a good question. I mean, if you were going to do it, it would have to be for the right reasons. And, you know, those two star star star is on their prime. I would do a short term thing there. I wouldn't go five years like Vancouver did. I think that Torz does not want to come back to Canada, but if he looked at the opportunity,

if Edmonton, yeah, because they're all idiots up there, and I have no idea what they're doing. But if Edmonton did approach him with a bunch of money, he'd have to consider, like what if you said, here's 12 million bucks for two years.

We're going to ride Connor into the sunset. I think he'd probably consider that really strongly, as much as I don't think the media and him would get along, as much as it's Canada. I think it's the exact descriptor of the coach they've tried to hire. They wanted Cassidy Wals. veteran, winner, has pushed guys, is not a wallflower defensive structure.

Laviella, got a lot of those traits. Babs has a lot of those traits. This guy's got all those traits too. They don't want a young green new age coach. They want to go old school. He's that. I would be stunned if they don't reach out immediately. Not that I want them to get a good coach, but it fits.

Can I ask you a question? I don't disagree with you at all. But how do you handle we've started an investigation into Mike Babcock and take her off the rails and start heading the other direction? I think it's the same as when you ask for permission to talk to Cassidy and you've got an extension. The ink's still wet on and your coach is still employed. It's like you're burning the boats and we're going to look like idiots, but if we get our guy, who cares? It's not like it's been handled well to this point. It'll just be another blunder in the long line of blunders in this coaching hire.

He's not available to the Oilers in the summer. You look at what Vegas did. They get torts in the last week.

It completely turns their fortunes around after looking like a team nowhere near their ceiling. They're two wins from a Stanley Cup. You probably wished you'd gone and done it. And now they will. And if you're worried about the Babcock thing, then you let the investigation go. You quietly talk to torts or as loud as you want and just say, look, we don't need a headache if you're ready to come here like who owes Mike Babcock anything

And our emphasis this week is really about putting a little bit more spotlight on the dads out there, making sure they're getting the love and attention that they deserve and making sure when it comes to their physical and mental being that they're taking care of themselves. Because the reality is, and I'm a dad myself, I've gone through this once, that a lot of love and attention deservedly so goes to the baby and the mom when you go through that journey. but dads sometimes can be a bit of an afterthought, and dads themselves maybe don't even look internally like, hey, what do I need as they kind of navigate this new journey that is incredibly rewarding,

but let's be honest, pretty exhausting and challenging at times as well. Yeah, there's a transition from being a grown man to becoming a caregiver. You've got your own offspring to take care of, and I suppose that can come with some mental health challenges. that's one of the big focuses this week. Exactly. Yeah, when we look at dads across Canada right now,

about 10% of dads experience postpartum depression, which again, even for myself, I've worked in over for eight years. And when I had my daughter a couple years ago, I wasn't fully aware of those risks and some of those things. I knew that the transition would be different, not as easy to get up on a Saturday morning and head it with the boys to play a round of 18 holes

like it used to be and find that. escape even from the day-to-day grind, but it's, it is one of those things that we're doing our best to, to make it more of a talking point to encourage dads to share when they're maybe struggling with something, but also reinforcing with friends and family to take that extra second. You're always going to check in on, on mom and the baby, but asking dads how they're doing with that transition. And maybe it's just getting a buddy out. If you have a buddy that's a new dad out for a little walk with little one just to chat, talk about life and be a bit of an outlet for them if they are experiencing some challenges. Yeah, there's no prior experience. When you're

a first time dad, it's your first time being a dad. There's going to be some hiccups along the way and a learning process to be sure. One of the things you guys are talking about in this spring campaign around Father's Day is really encouraging involvement and engagement with dads, which is to say make sure that we don't sort of like fall back into the shadows and, you know, to stay active and be around your kids. And I know for me that's one of the things that brings me the greatest joy is to to watch my kids participate in things or do activities with my kids. Yeah.

Embrace it. It's one of those things. It's the best job in your life you're ever going to have is soak in those moments, especially in the world that now put the phones down and just develop that relationship. It's something I never thought I'd be able to. recite every song in the frozen soundtrack. But here we are. And it brings the greatest joy to my daughter when we're able to do that stuff together.

She's very much in that phase of when she's doing stuff, just like, Mama, Papa, watch and wanting to get that attention. And the reality is, like, showing up for them is the biggest thing. They don't, kids don't really care about how your 9 to 5 went. And the challenges that you experienced there, they want the best version of yourself and to be present and it takes a concerted effort to do that and doing it as a team as well like acknowledging like if you're fortunate enough to have a partner in your life making sure you're juggling that having that healthy balance and for me i've gone from a pretty heavy sports guide to understanding that my daughter

may not be into all of these things and just embracing the things that she put whatever puts a smile on her face puts a smile on on my face so that's definitely that's been a big learning for me over the last couple of years is just realizing maybe she doesn't want to watch the hockey game maybe she'd rather put something else on and that is okay it's opening up my mind and worlds it's some very new things what's the number one banger from frozen is it let it go is there anything bigger now sequel movies here i got to get up to speed i would say the there's one it's called unknown and i'm i'm not singing it for anyone here but that one has taken over let it go we've usually get really she's ready to she's moved past

let it go. So that's a huge move in the power rankings for Frozen Songs. That's good to know. I'm glad you're engaged and involved with your daughter. I know it's a great cause. We think about fall with Movember, but it's more than that. It's about men's mental health.

have dad in the life pick up the phone give them a call let them know you love them it doesn't hurt it goes a long way and and yeah I just encourage everyone get informed and don't be shy about having those conversations if you're someone that's struggling it's it's normal to go through tough times it's a lot easier when you lean on your team just like when we think about being on the ice when you're doing it together with your team it's it just makes the it much better and makes those wins at the end of the day even more, even more fruitful.
