Starting point is 00:00:04 Hello, everyone, and welcome to another episode of Barnburner here on the Flames Nation YouTube or on the podcast host of your choice. It's Boomer along with Brian Pinder and Rhett Warner today on the Calgary Flame Game Day. Are you talking like that? Say that thing. Well, it was yesterday. Say that thing. You can't start the thing. It was too much too aggressive, too loud.
Starting point is 00:00:37 so I thought I'd ease my way in. Say the thing. Get your helmet on. It's a game day. The Calgary Flames singing on the Columbus Blue Jackets. Columbus on a Tuesday. Almost on a Friday, it was not boring.
Starting point is 00:00:48 I don't think it'll be boring. I think it'll be highly emotional. Yeah, as Friday was, yeah. Twas. Ramatch. Yeah, I can't wait for Lomburg to tune in that. Yeah, that Olivier, no, no doubt, shaking in his boots. Did he make the trip?
Starting point is 00:01:07 I think he's just fine. Yeah. Yeah, weird. Yeah, I think you did. When you give up four inches and 42 pounds. Igor Chinikov did not make the trip, apparently. That has more to do with an upper body injury than fear. I think that's how that kind of shakes down.
Starting point is 00:01:25 I don't know. It's an assumption, yeah. Maybe he's got the flames flu. Clavicle? Well, you heard they're, what, nine and three on home ice? Something like that, yeah. It's clavicle. It could be a scapula clavicle.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Is it a clavicle? but the ribs could be right in the ribs right there flames need to turn things around here they've lost four straight they've been outscored badly their penalty kill is
Starting point is 00:01:49 a must win hemorrhaging it's a must win pinned you hear that I said they need to turn it around and they got to get her going definitely got to turn around oh my jeez so you're not yeah
Starting point is 00:02:01 178 they've been outscored the last four that was the road trip yeah all of them losses More than double, I'm told. Yeah. That's a lot. Oh, you do the math.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Just did, yeah. Yeah, it's a lot. But other than that, should be tight one. Well, we can, they can win the fights. Yeah, yeah. We can lose the game, win the fight. Who do they call off to fight? I said they called up some guys.
Starting point is 00:02:25 It's got to be clearly. Yeah, Peltche, frigging goon. And Walker, yeah. Yeah, Walker, Derr. Yeah, South Dakota, Southpah. That's yeah. Oh, that guy, yeah. He's a begging for a race.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Jeez. If you, I'm giggling because of actually. if I was Olivier yeah oh this is your house I'm stradding around okay so we talked about the last week before they even played he's seven goals on the year yeah he would be one off the flames leader
Starting point is 00:02:52 goals it would be like don't effing touch flirting with 50 pims he's completely he's the toughest guy in the league he's got the belt like what else can you do and he's a free agent this summer Connie are you paying attention Conroy guaranteed signing is what it is Connie you're gonna have 25 million bucks
Starting point is 00:03:07 of cast based after you moves Kuzman 28 after you get rid of Lidar. Let's, if you're going to be, you know, plug your nose, no playoffs, at least go get a tough guy. Yeah, Dean Everson's a big fan. No question. Yeah. Yeah, he's liking.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Yeah. Olivia a lot. I would think so. Barnburner is a presentation of Bet365, the world's largest sports betting platform. You open an account with Bet365 today. You're going to find a huge range of markets. And when you do so, why wouldn't you use that promo code right there? You see it on the screen.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Nation. awesome. It is awesome. Another little yesterday. What did you get? I had some little parlay. Remember I needed the Browns just to keep it within 12 and a half. Oh, he did because you teased the line.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Although James was really trying. He's trying both ways. The thing about James, he's not really rooting for anyone. He just wants outcomes. He just wants points. He's a high event player. Yeah, he's got the over. Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet, 365.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Blue Jackets are one of those teams. we don't often talk about when we Ottawa are they close to turning things around what about the sabers they've been rebuilding are they close to turn around blue jackets are the same team they're a team that has not been in the playoffs they've been drafting high since their existence came to be they've been waiting
Starting point is 00:04:22 to kind of turn it they had that bubble around and that probably screwed things up for Yarmu to be honest when they beat Toronto in Toronto in the bubble and there's Likins and Corpuselho were lights out and it was like
Starting point is 00:04:36 Pierre Luke Yeah, Pierre Luke DeBah was great. And I think that probably was the worst thing It could happen to them. Was that or was that the year that they kept Bobbsky and traded for Dushan? Bob was gone, I believe. They had the run with Tarts.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Because they did have Panarin and Bobber they went into Tampa Bay. Does he trade Bobrovsky and get some assets? No, we're going to keep them. Well, they never made the playoffs, had they? Or they never won around or something? It was not good. That sounds about right.
Starting point is 00:05:07 And they said, no, we're keeping these guys. We've had plenty of picks. We're going to really try and make a run for it. And we're talking about two different years. I'm correct, right? Because that was non-bubble that year you're talking about, I think, right? And then they go to the bubble and kind of surprise because Panarin's been, it feels like he's been there pre-COVID in New York, diddo Bobrovsky in Florida.
Starting point is 00:05:25 So, you know, they've flirted with being relevant. But generally speaking, it's, oh, yeah, I forgot they're in this league team. They have a lot of high picks. A lot of them are playing, Adam Van Tilly, third overall in 2020. 23 Kent Johnson fifth overall Cillinger's 12th overall Chinikov went 21st overall. And you'll see also very exciting
Starting point is 00:05:44 Eurochecks can be playing for Minnesota as well. Another high fix. That's another high fix. Geez, wow. Yeah, he's going to be really good for the wild. I don't know what to make of the blue jackets. So two points out of a wild card. They're young and they're big and they're talented. They're playing with house money right now. Yeah, they are. And Monaghan's, I want to say Evanson. That's a place, I think.
Starting point is 00:06:07 That's why you're doing. Is it? Evanston is a neighborhood in Calgary. Yeah, there you go. Evensons are from Frontier, so I know some of them, but that's not. Yeah, you just got dropped. I was going to say dropped. Never mind.
Starting point is 00:06:21 But he's a good coach. Yes, he is a good coach. He's a good coach, Dean. Yeah, he is. He wants pace and physicality. Remember when he was coaching the Wild, and the Wild came in here in Good Branson and Zedorov when those guys were running around, and they had pretty much Marcus Felino and nobody.
Starting point is 00:06:36 else. His post game, he was just seething. Just seething. Could not handle the fact that one of his teams had been, not run out of the rank, but it's certainly been handled physically
Starting point is 00:06:48 with relative ease by the Calgary Flames. It's a little bit of a different story. They've got some bite and some edge to them. They've got some young guys. Got gutty. He's hurt. He's played three games, shoulder surgery in October,
Starting point is 00:07:02 so he's got to get a gutty? Upper body. One year left after this one? Upper? Is that what it is? It's the upper shoulder. That's the scapula. This would be your three. Maybe it's your four. No, it's your three. Yeah. Your three for getting it.
Starting point is 00:07:15 It's nice when there used to be a website we could look at. Oh, there still is. You just don't know. Still is. I don't have a computer. I'm not allowed. We'll get to the insider hotline. We'll get more into the, you know, the real hard hitting details of this, you know, they can't wait. Stats and numbers and trends and all that sort of thing. But time to go to the insider hotline.
Starting point is 00:07:31 A presentation of Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating. Your crystal clear choice for. All residential plumbing, heating and cooling services. I know it's warm out there today. You're thinking, oh, man, what am I worried about heating today? Weather outside is not frightful. It's not frightful. 48 hours ago, you were freezing your AISO.
Starting point is 00:07:48 You were frightful because it's gross. Sloppy. Sloppish. Crystal Waters, they have a solution for all budgets, including financing, affordable payment plans. If you're putting off what you fear might be an impending disaster, do not do it. Crystal Waters is here to help you in many different ways. 403-219, 4100.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Check them out, crystal clear, Calgary.com. Our guest. Joining us on the insider hotline. Oh, my goodness. The first question. Hello. Sheet with the nation network is Eric.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Hello, Jeff. Rett's got the first question. Redd. Okay, shoot. Question. Oh, Rats. What's doing? Do you have a favorite Christmas drink,
Starting point is 00:08:25 alcohol or non-alcohol? So when I, when I was more of a drinking man, uh, the morning would always always, always start with a Kalua and coffee. But now I am now like Christmas morning is every day. It's just black coffee until about noon.
Starting point is 00:08:43 I don't have anything specific. I don't have anything specific as we say here in the Atlantic for Christmas morning. But it used to be a Kalua coffee. What about eggnog? Thoughts on eggnode. When I was a kid, I used to go to Becker's every Saturday before a hockey night in Canada and get like two jugs of eggnog and I would split it with my sister and my dad.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Beckers is gone and those days are gone. I don't know how I drank eggnog. I find it so gross. I can't do creamy stuff. I can't do creamy stuff anymore. I don't know what it is. Eggnog and Buffalo, Jeff, Hoover's.
Starting point is 00:09:13 Oh, is that the stuff? Is that the jam? Maybe. Yeah. I find the egg dog, it thins out the more spiced rum you put in it. That is true. It'll thin it out in a real hurry.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Yeah. And then by the end, you're just pouring the rum in the cup and whispering eggnog over top of it. Yeah. And then there's enough to fly that you're just kind of. swish it around. Just cleaning the cup. Cleaned the cup.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Yeah. That's pretty much it. Well, congrats on the first show. How you feel? How to go. Got through it, man.
Starting point is 00:09:42 That was like two weeks of, you know, rehearsals and setting up this basement studio. And, like, right up until, like, we're having, we're building a studio
Starting point is 00:09:51 from scratch down here. And you know, you guys, I'm telling you guys, you guys, you can always know what this is all about. And so there's like,
Starting point is 00:09:56 you know, audio issues or video issues or talk back issues, like all the way up, like all weekend long, all weekend long. Nick Caroli, who's a chief engineer with us, as you guys know, pretty much lived in my basement. I was like, you only put out a mattress here for you. I'd bring down some cookies and milk for you, Nick.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Like Nick was at my house more than he was at his place. But thankfully, you know, outside of, you know, one font being wrong, we, we managed to get through it. Now let's see if we can do it for a second day. That a boy. Love it. Yeah, thanks, boys. Yeah, I really had to work hard, fellows. Yeah, you know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:27 Not in the coal mine, eh? Yeah. Oh, boy, yeah. Going to school, walking uphill both ways. Yeah, you know, it's a real. I always thought, you know, I always grew up thinking that I'd be one of those guys that showered after work, not before. But here I am, just soft, soft, soft, soft.
Starting point is 00:10:42 During COVID, it was neither for most of us. I don't know what you were doing. Shower. Every weekend. There's a shower you speak of. Weekly. Well, I mean, obviously, there were a lot of people watching and or listening because the radar went up in Calgary.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Did you hear Merrick talking about Merrick? Because you had a little flames love, I guess, if you want to call it, if you want to let us in on not so much of scoop, what you've been hearing and chasing a little bit. I had to do something for the first show to sort of get noticed here. So just a couple of things. You know, I've always wondered about, and I'm sure you guys are the same way, the alternative universe in the NHL, you know, the trades that never happened.
Starting point is 00:11:20 I was on spitting chicklets last week and we were talking about Joe Thornton, and I was talking about like, you know, there was a deal on the table. Once upon a time, my. Michael Connell and the Florida and the Florida that would have seen Joe Thornton go to Florida one for one, Roberto Luongo going the other way. And then like what happens to hockey if that happens? Can you imagine like Tim Thomas and Roberto Luongo sharing a crease?
Starting point is 00:11:44 Like do the Boston Bruins make to the Cup final in 2011? What does that mean for the Vancouver Canucks? Like I'm fascinated with all of this. And so when you see the summer offer sheet, which was, you know, one of if not the biggest stories of the summer in Broberg and Holloway go, you start to snoop around and say like, okay, were there any other teams interested?
Starting point is 00:12:04 Because don't forget, it almost didn't happen with the St. Louis Blues. Like, they had to go fishing and get that second round pickback so they could check all the boxes to make these offer sheets happen for these two players. And as I, you know, called and chatted and talked and tried to get confirmation from as many places as possible, it turns out there were three teams.
Starting point is 00:12:21 There were three teams that were prepared to offer sheet these two players. This all happened, guys. right around the Halenka tournament. Last year, there were three teams. I don't know who the third was, but it sounds very much like the Calgary Flames were the other team. I know there was talk in the market of, you know, should it, you know, could it, could it happen?
Starting point is 00:12:41 If so, Calgary would have to go back. And I guess they'd have to get Montreal to look the other way on a second rounder or sort of languish that second rounder. That would have made it happen for the Calgary Flames. And then at the final moment, because I do believe that Broberg and Holloway, the preferred destination was, St. Louis.
Starting point is 00:12:59 Armstrong ended up getting the pick and everything worked out for the St. Louis Blues, but it wasn't for trying. And, you know, one of the things that I mentioned yesterday, you know, when I think Battle of Alberta, you know, when I think Battle of Alberta, I think about Jim Poplinski and I think about Tim Hunter and I think about Dave Semenko and Kevin McColland and Don Jackson and games that took like four hours to play and you spend half the time just picking up gloves and sticks off the ice. And, you know, now the Battle of Alberta would have been.
Starting point is 00:13:27 been fought with a summer offer sheet, much like how the Rangers and Devils battles now are all over, you know, intermission insults revolving around Instagram hockey players, according to Steve Vallicott. But it would have added a whole new wrinkle in the, the BOA, if Calgary would have been able to pull that one off. I was hoping. Throw that one out there as a little nugget for everybody on the first day of the show. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:53 I mean, you look now, the guys that they could probably use. Holloway, maybe less so, but certainly with Broberg. I'm still hoping that this turns into a big win for St. Louis, because maybe it hurts the Oilers. But just let's open the floodgates a little bit on offer sheets. If this move for St. Louis can really pay off and they look, what they gave up was certainly worth what they got in return. Second and a third.
Starting point is 00:14:17 We might start to see a few more of these start to break loose because it's a weapon. The team just don't use. The only, and I agree with you, I wish we saw it more. I wish we sought more as a tactic, you know, to push a team over the salary cap so they have to make other decisions, you know, deliberately, you know, make a decision that's going to harm your hockey team. I thought we would have seen by now more of those. But let's not forget, too, the salary cap is going up. There's going to be more wiggle room for a lot of managers to do more things here, i.e. matching offer sheets. So I want, again, I hope that you're right.
Starting point is 00:14:51 I just wonder if that was last summer might have been the last time we see. see something like this for a while until teams completely get capped out. Because as we've seen salary caps act as magnets. I hope it happens. You know, I've always marveled at how, you know, these managers are,
Starting point is 00:15:10 you know, really aggressive. A lot of them played hockey, real tough, like, you know, won't give an inch, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:15 going up against their opponents every single night, like all of these things. But then when it comes to offer sheets, it's the vibe turns into, I don't want to offer sheet these teams. What happens if they offer. if they offer sheet me back. And these are the same, same players that would have said, like, I'm not going to hit that guy
Starting point is 00:15:32 because what if he hits them hits me back? Like that was never said in the NHL by any of these players. Yeah, when it comes to offer sheet, there's a real fear of retribution. It is part of it. I can tell you, it is part of it. No one wants to be the target of it. Absolutely. Yeah, it is, that is part of it.
Starting point is 00:15:46 I just wondered if it was always in the back of guy's heads, ex players that you speak of. And then they take it to the money guy and the money goes, well, this makes no sense. They're just going to do this and this. That was the cut in the Emmy one. Or no, the Sebastian Ajo. It's like, well, that was obvious. They're clearly going to match. Thank you, Montreal.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Now, Carolina gets to lock a guy in at a number that's going to be a team friendly in no time. That one, I'm glad you got us there because that to me, that was like an insulting offer sheet. Yes. Like that was because the vibe out there, we all know how the Carolina hurricanes operate and how Tom Dundon has a number attached to everything, whether it's broadcast. or players or front office staff or coach he has a number attached to everything and he won't go above that a lot of people respect that a lot of people think that that's cheap and you can't operate that way that montreal offer sheet for ahio was almost like embarrassingly low like if you're tom dundon and the carolina hurricanes you're insulted by that i'm convinced like that insult fueled the cot
Starting point is 00:16:50 khani me offer sheet like that was like the one offer sheet that we've seen in the history of offer sheets that was almost deliberately insulting like you're so cheap you won't match this go ahead if you dare carolina and they did and don medall mentioned like from the get go he's like this the easiest negotiation i've ever had and i got it a team friendly number to thank you mark bergivant i don't know why i'll sign that it's like you worth more than that buddy oh i know i'm with you i was i was i was stunned completely stunned but you know what there's um i mean Rhett, you can talk about this as a player. I know this happened with Ryan O'Reilly when he was offer sheeted by the Calgary Flames.
Starting point is 00:17:30 And the Colorado Avalanche, after much controversy along the way, ended up matching the offer sheet. When he went back to Colorado, there were some players that sort of dismissed him as, hey, you wanted to leave. Like, you're not really wanted anymore here on the team. Like, you tried to go. I quote unquote quit on us. You left our organization. I mean, it wasn't very much longer that he got shuttled off to the Buffalo Sabres. but I am always wonder,
Starting point is 00:17:54 I always do wonder about the dynamic of a player who signs an offer sheet to go somewhere else. I think of Shea Weber, I mean, that agent's plea as well, pretty much begging Nashville not to match and let him go to the Philadelphia Flyers. I mean, Rhett, I'll put this one back to you. When a player signs an offer sheet to leave your team,
Starting point is 00:18:12 should he, is he, does he get treated differently if the team matches and he comes back? Because really at the base of it, he tried to leave. It's almost like a trade. request in a way even even more so because he's signed a contract with somebody i don't know i've i've always said that it depends on the guy there's some guys that on the outskirts of the room you might be like yeah then bugger off we don't want you around yeah and there's heart in school like brian scruedlin i keep bringing him up because he was my first captain and he's from saskatoon so
Starting point is 00:18:48 i have to give two check marks there it is i love he signed with the rangers left florid and signed those ranges. We were all pumped for him because he got more money. Got paid. Would we have liked if he'd have, right? Like if he'd come back, we'd have been happy. It's free agency. And I think guys know going in. I, and I honestly think that. If you were already on the outskirts or just kind of the fringes of the dressing room, then probably. And O'Reilly had some tough negotiations with Colorado already. It was notoriously difficult every single time his contract came up. It was like, oh, here we go again. Sure enough, after the off sheet was matched, you're right.
Starting point is 00:19:23 was he was gone to Buffalo pretty quick. I don't know. Anyway, like I think about Iggy signing here. Dion got a big deal here. Kipper got a big deal here. They were never top of the market. And part of the reason they weren't top of the market was because they wanted the team to have money
Starting point is 00:19:41 to go get other guys. There is some of that. When everyone's going to the trough and saying, I don't, great for you guys, I need mine. And there is no. you know what I mean sharing yeah you're not going to you're not going to give up 10 million dollars I'm not saying that
Starting point is 00:19:59 but if you can go and look at the roster and go we got a chance to win in the next year two three or stick together maybe we've got a five to 10 year window yeah but one guy's like no I need it all the challenge of that for me is like people are going to say that about Connor his deals
Starting point is 00:20:15 get up at the end of next season and they're going to say look Connor could ask for 20 what they're going to do say no like 20% salary we've never seen before that's a maximum salary he could ask for it. Capital probably around $100 million by then anyway. What are the world that are they going to do? Say no. Of course you're going to say yes, but it'd be like, well, listen, Connor, if you take less, look what can put
Starting point is 00:20:32 around you. But Darnal Nurse didn't take less. Darnal Nurse is making probably 50% more than he's worth, if not more than that. So why is the superstar the one that has to make the sacrifices? He's the one selling all the jerseys that's driven that franchise value up hundreds of millions that's selling season tickets. That guy's worth more than $20 million. I just, you're right. That is factually true. If, again, it takes less, you can put better things around them, but it's not like they've been efficient around, Connor. I don't think the GM has been earned extra money.
Starting point is 00:20:59 They've blown money. You know, you spent 25 million bucks on Jeff Campbell and the miners. I'm not going to make gym extra money. No. Okay, there's a whole lot there. First of all, this is one of the things. I mean, you go back to the 0405 lockout and a lot of agents that were stonjily against a salary cap brought up the point that we're still seeing to this day.
Starting point is 00:21:16 And that is what a salary cap does is it pits player versus player. Right. Hey, Connor, take less so we can stay. Yeah. Hey, bud, you need to take less. And this is why we always see every year. There are some players that grumble about the escalator. And, you know, the players that don't are the ones that are becoming free agents.
Starting point is 00:21:31 And it's like, hey, listen, I voted for the escalator. When you were a free agent, I want you to do the same for me. We're not artificially freezing an escalator here. You know, we've done it for everybody else. But it does. It pits player versus player. I have no problem. Like zero problem.
Starting point is 00:21:44 And Connor's already, you remember Connor's last contract with the Edmontonel. He took less money so Leon Dricettle could get paid properly. Right? again, like you're asking the big guy to make the concession. If Connor McDavid walks into the Oilers office for an office and says, whatever the cap is, I want 20% of it. I would have zero problem. It's not his job to construct a roster.
Starting point is 00:22:08 And that's one of the problems that I have with this idea of, you know, psychologically trying to encourage players to take less money for the good of the team. It's not a player's job to put the team together. It's the job of the player to get. as good as he can and maximize his value. You know, it's like in any negotiation. Like, I always tell my kids this. There's the one word that I can't stand in the English language is the word fair.
Starting point is 00:22:33 Word fair always sets you up for disappointment and sets you up for failure. Like, I do not, I detest when even I catch myself using the word fair. You don't get what's fair. You get what you negotiate. Like, that is the best way to approach any type of negotiations. So I don't know that it's fair. And all I know is Connor McDavid walks. in to Jeff Jackson's office, Stan Bowman's office, and says, I want 20%.
Starting point is 00:22:56 He has the hammer. Like in any negotiation, if you can walk away, you have the hammer in the negotiation. Connor can walk away. He's got the hammer. And I think that's true in any negotiation. Yesterday, something that blew up on our feed was chatting about Nazim Kodry and chatting with you on the phone yesterday. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:14 Not how much is real or how much is not. And we also asked the question, who's doing who a favor? Nazim's 34. And he's got four years left after this. one. That's not a window for the flames to contend. No, but also the Toronto Maple Leafs would love a second line center. And in the short term, you would make them better. Like, who's doing who a favor if there's a trade? Who's getting the assets? Who has to, you know, retain salary or, or add to
Starting point is 00:23:36 the package? Like, or is it just a good fit in both sides? This to me looks like a like a good fit because they're in different places of their winning cycle. Like the, the, the Calgary Flames are reloading. We all know that. That's not exactly a secret. And like some of the future, as you guys know, you're there to document all of it is really bright, whether it's Coronado, whether it's Wolf, like the really good young players on this team, as you guys well know. But they're not going to make the playoffs or win the Stanley Cup. Bless them, they're giving it a good college try, and it's a lot of fun along the way,
Starting point is 00:24:03 but I don't think anyone looks like they have the firepower to do this. And that's fine. Like, I don't think a legitimate expectation is for the Calgary Flames to either get to or do any damage in the playoffs. That would, I think, be unreasonable. So you always want to have veterans around so the team's not just full of kids that are directionless. You don't want to hand your entire organization over to a bunch of, a bunch of players that are in their early 20s. But I think when you have someone like Nazim
Starting point is 00:24:29 Kadri, that is more of a fit. And plus you throw in the, the Trillivin Factor, tried to bring him in once upon a time in that trade where Nazim Kadri refused to waive his, is no trade to go to Calgary. You look at how the Toronto Mate beliefs want to play. You look at the head coach. You look at what Nazim Kadri can bring to a lineup, specifically, you know, selling the local boy goes home, even though he's from London. And then the other thing that I kind of find interesting in all of this, I mean, you guys are old enough to remember the stories of, you know, what they used to call the Flyers flu.
Starting point is 00:25:04 All of a sudden, when you're playing the Philadelphia Flyers, all of a sudden, guys, we get sick in the 70s and didn't want to play against Schultz and Seleski and dog and all these guys. The new Philadelphia Flyers are the Florida Panthers. And if you want to get out of that division, you need to go through the Florida Panthers. And did you just see them big dog, the Carolina hurricanes? Like take them apart and physically abuse them.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Like they do that on the regular to everybody. Like that is a, that is a team tough team. And the Maple Leafs know what that is all about having, you know, tried to go up against them. Boston Bruins know what that is all about as well. The Tampa Bay Lightning now that there's been a passing of the torch in Florida. Like everybody knows how tough this.
Starting point is 00:25:50 Florida Panthers team is. And if you want to get out of that division, the road goes through sunrise. I look at the Maple Leaf's roster. And even though they are playing a different style of hockey this year, Carter Hutton was talking about it this morning on Morning Cup of Hockey, you still need some grumpy, snarly players that are willing to do at times, just to be blunt, something dumb, just to do something. Like, I didn't really mind what Cadre did in Toronto.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Because, you know, as Peter DeBora once said when he was coaching the kitchen, arrangers of the OHL and he brought in Steve Downey from Peterborough and I was having a conversation with Pete and I said like you're hosting the Memorial Cup this year. Steve Downey is he's talented but like he's he's reckless he'll take penalties and suspensions and he'll hurt kids and and pa pa pa pa and Pete DeBore stopped me and he said yeah I understand all these things but the one thing that you don't understand Merrick is as a head coach I would rather have to tame a tiger than paint stripes on a kitty cat and I think for a lot of years the Maple Leafs would tried to paint stripes on a kitty cat they would like tigers back that they need to calm down
Starting point is 00:26:55 not pump up if that makes sense and i mean we looked at the depth yesterday they could use a center for sure there's three c would look good like real good or or slips i mean the thing about the thing about tveras is he's still good on the wall he's still good in front of the net yeah i mean you saw that backhand goal on Tampa on Saturday. Holy smokes. Still really good there. The problem is, I mean, open ice is not his friend,
Starting point is 00:27:24 as we all know. You do wonder about the wing. And, you know, this is the last year of the contract. Yeah. And they're going to have that cap space and that hole. So maybe this is something that makes more sense for next season, but if there's a way they can,
Starting point is 00:27:37 the Maple Leafs can make it work, I mean, the whispers are very much out there. And I don't think it's too difficult to draw a line between Calgary and Toronto on this one with that player. I wonder if maybe it's this year early, not early, but trade deadlineish, that they make a move for Cadre or maybe an offseason move.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Trilving likes to get some stuff done early too. Did it with To Foley? Yeah. He's done it. Try to get ahead of it a little bit. Real quick, while we're on Toronto, how does the Marner thing play out? He's got all the cards and he's made huge money,
Starting point is 00:28:09 but has not lived up to the billing in the playoffs. Everywhere else he's been great. You know what? I always, someone who's opinion I really rely on and I really value as Adam Oates. And Adam Oates's perspective on Mitch Marner is how come there's never a conversation around
Starting point is 00:28:27 filling out the roster around him? There's a lot of support Austin Matthews, support William Nealander, and Adam Oates always goes out of his way because Oates loves Marner. He just loves a player that thinks at that level. Where's the support for him? Marner's turned himself into a sort of stealth,
Starting point is 00:28:46 Selky trophy candidate as well, plays in all situations. Yeah, he kills penalties. He's like, the thing about the Maple Leafs now, and Marner has done this for a while, too, like, they're all blocking shots,
Starting point is 00:28:56 and Marner's one of them. Like, that's such a Bar-Rubi thing. It does really look like Bar-Rubi hockey in a lot of ways. I really like Marner. I love him as a player, and I can't, like, once Adam mentioned that, I can't stop thinking about it. Should the Leafs just look at Marner in a vacuum and say,
Starting point is 00:29:13 look at this in the play, playoffs or should they say, you know, we have one of the most skilled players in the NHL. We need to fill out a little bit more around him as opposed to using him to help round out Austin Matthews game. That's, to me, that's the sort of the warp and weft and the sort of tug and pull of the Mitch Marner situation in Toronto. But listen, we talked about having the hammer. The one thing you need to know about his agent, Darren Ferris from Cortex.
Starting point is 00:29:40 And this will play out as well with Sam Bennett in Florida. Um, what he does is he tries to walk players to free agency. And you have to really, really make it worth his while to sign before that player gets to free agency. Now, complicating things with Marner, he loves it in Toronto. He grew up a Maple Leafs fan. A lot of the business of Mitch Marner is, is predicated on him playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs. So in that, in that sense, it's not completely, well, I'll go anywhere to the to the highest bidder on July 1st. There is still a default to the, to the,
Starting point is 00:30:13 the Toronto market, but make no mistake about it. Ferris walks guys to free agency. And if you want to get his clients to turn their head, you have to really make it worth their while. The sheet. The sheet is alive. Merrick is back. Back like a vertebrae, boys.
Starting point is 00:30:33 Back like a vertebrae. Appreciate you coming on, man. Just pumped to see you doing so well with the show and getting that, we all know what it's like. You get that first one. And now you can really start to lean into it and get things rolling. So awesome.
Starting point is 00:30:46 You just want the first shift out of the way. That's right. Take a hit, make a hit. Get involved. Get involved. Appreciate you. Yeah. See you boys.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Be well. You bet. Jeff Merrick. Host of the sheet with the nation network. You can say it like that all the time? Or just, I just think if that kind of adds to it. Jeff Merrick with the sheet.
Starting point is 00:31:08 It's the sheet. That's right. You're the sheet. Totally. sheets. Crystal Waters with the insider hotline. Make sure your home is safe and ready for winter. They'll inspect those plumbing and heating. Everything in that situation. Make sure you're good to go.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Barnburner customers need a new hot water heater, AC or furnace, receive discounts and upgrades up to $1,000 in value. It's why Crystal Waters. Plumbing and heating is your crystal clear choice for home comfort 403-219-4100. Or check them out at crystalclear, calgary.com. imagine if you got family or people over for, you know, the holidays. All of a sudden, then your hot water tank or something takes a dump. Oh, geez.
Starting point is 00:31:54 What are we going to do? You want to do you want that or do you want crystal waters to come in and make sure you're all right? It's like your health. You don't wait until it gets to shit to take care of it. That's right. Take care of it now. Get it dealt with. You just give me an odd geez there.
Starting point is 00:32:08 Oh, geez. Oh, geez. Ah, geez. Oh, geez. the hot water, you got no heat. We got the Ozzy's coming for Christmas. That's a great idea, though. Not to take anything away from Crystal Waters.
Starting point is 00:32:21 You should phone them. They're great. They've been to my house. They do great work. If people came and you're ready to get rid of them, maybe you go in there and just turn the hot water time off. They might be able to help you with that. Give you a lever. I don't know what to do. I don't know what's going on downstairs.
Starting point is 00:32:38 We have no heat and no hot water. and I just called McGillicuddy services and they say it could be in January before we get anybody out here to take a look at it. I did look at the Tuilliger Motel. They got a couple rooms. Over at the, yeah, the Turt,
Starting point is 00:32:53 Twiliger suites. Inns and sweets. Yeah, we can get you set up in there. Lots of hot water there. Do you need a carry bag for you? Yeah, that's right. So now you were saying you have in-laws coming in? You got the Aussies coming in.
Starting point is 00:33:06 They're going to need that heat. Are they at Terwilliger in suites? Are you a host family? We are this winter. No, no, no, no. My wife doesn't like being a host family. Okay, that's what I mean. Like, you, you know if I had the power, the hammer.
Starting point is 00:33:18 Now, you love it. Explain what it is you love about it. The social stuff, just having humans to talk to. Right. Love that. So not preparing food or having things ready or being a host. And she has to. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:31 So you don't like hosting. I like cracking and being like, you just like having. Son, tell me about the fall. How's your autumn? You like drinking with us? You like an IPA? Do you want a pill there?
Starting point is 00:33:39 I've got a really cool. Cool, sour, yeah. But that's family. Like if you had the keys to the castle, would you have us over? Because we would, yeah. I would, yeah, but my wife, yeah, no, I mean, we had Boomer and his family came over. You've been invited. I would be happy, but my wife and then he stopped.
Starting point is 00:33:59 Did you see that? No, we love hosting. And I hate going on. I love hosting. I grew up in a house that was Grand Central Station, whether it was neighbors or like sisters, friends, brothers, friends, aunts, uncles. it was just always the door was unlocked and someone was coming in it just i love that it also comes with a lot of chaos which you know that was the house i grew up in you may as well be a circus
Starting point is 00:34:22 sandals at uh times what dragon really oh no that's that'll cool you off hosting for a while won't i left my door open for years and people would just be in there and yeah eventually someone stole my dragon sandals. My tail is old as time. That's why you put your dragon sandals in the safekeeping. In the safe. Especially on holidays. For keeping.
Starting point is 00:34:49 Yeah. Keep on your feet. 7 o'clock tonight. Flames and Blue Jackets. I think it's still available? Probably not, huh? This will be one of the tougher seats of the season. This is one of the tougher, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:06 I don't know that seats are still available. We know that there's, there'll be secondary stuff. What's going on? I'm not. I was thinking about it. Someone had asked me, hey, like, are they retiring the number? And I said, well, geez, like, if they were going to do something, they probably would keep it quiet. But in some way and in some form, they will likely honor and tribute Johnny and Matthew in a way that only a team he could play for could. So I don't know what that looks like. I didn't know how to answer that question. But yeah, like, I expect an emotional intro. I expect there to be some sort of presentation on the ice. You know, the family's going to be here. And what will they do to forever, you know, I guess. keep Johnny and Flames fans' thoughts for the rest of the time. I saw someone remark closer to when the incident happened, just everyone talking about ways to honor and tribute with the number. And I don't know who it was, and it doesn't really know how they said,
Starting point is 00:35:56 it would be more meaningful perhaps if you waited until the kids were older and they would both remember that ceremony and being there and seeing their dad. You can see it on TV, but for them down the road to see that it's still impactful. He's still a member of the Flames family, and it still means something to watch number 13. Now, I don't know. Maybe that doesn't play a part.
Starting point is 00:36:19 I think that's fair. I think to a similar point would be wife and parents and kids are going to be here now. No, the kids won't be old enough, but everyone else, those are the people that need to heal. The kids will have questions, but the kids aren't the ones that are in mourning, right? They're too young. So I think I would expect something tonight.
Starting point is 00:36:40 And I think as they'll probably mention, it's, there's always going to be a spot for the Goodrose whenever they want to pass your town, a place that Johnny called a second home for most of his life, right? And I'm sure down the road, you would, you would get everybody here if the situation called for it. But when is the next time they will all be here like they are right now? I don't know. Yeah. And it's like 10 year anniversary, who knows? I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:07 I expect something special. I don't know what it is, though. 10 year anniversary parties for some no no it wouldn't be a party but yeah I don't know what do you do like to Booms point
Starting point is 00:37:18 if those kids when they're six to 15 like I don't know is that too late I feel like tonight's you gotta do something I like the flames have done a very good job in the past and not so much with tragedy necessarily
Starting point is 00:37:29 but just in thoughtful ideas and ways about doing things that I don't know this this is totally different it's very they treat it everything that showed up with the Saddle Dome during the memorial in the days that followed, like as a very, very important, like almost like a museum artifact.
Starting point is 00:37:50 Like everything was collected. It was meticulously cataloged. And they're trying to repurpose everything that was there so that, you know, the legacy of Johnny lives on in this city in different ways, right? And we've seen some stuff already. But yeah, like every bottle of Gatorade or whatever that was dropped off Purple Gato, like they ended up donating the same amount to different Calgary charities. all the sticks are being turned into things,
Starting point is 00:38:13 all the skittles that were dropped off. That's another, like they've, they've treated this with a level of importance and seriousness that is beyond what I think the standard is. Like, it's been exceptional how, you know, important they've treated this. Like, this is a very important project
Starting point is 00:38:29 for the flames in the way that they've handled it. The other thing, too, another guy that is here, and we'll know, I mean, he'll be here again, but is Sean Monaghan. He's had a great season so far, 22 points and 23 games, averaging 19 minutes a night. And of course, he and Johnny very close, very tight.
Starting point is 00:38:44 And he also means a lot. It's his in a way. I mean, I know he's been here, but this is a different, this is a more, a very meaningful return for him, even though he's played in Winnipeg and Montreal since. Yeah, and he's played here with members of both those teams. But I agree.
Starting point is 00:38:59 I think that he's, he's as close as it gets to family. That's not family. He was Johnny's best friend for the bulk of his career. Joe, he signed there to play with his best buddy, so their kids could grow up together. So that is the one side of tonight's game, which for many will be the, I mean, that's what we're going to remember. It's absolutely.
Starting point is 00:39:19 Otherwise, it's just a Tuesday against the out of conference foe. Flames nine and three at home, blue jackets three, six and two on the road. Now, they have won, what's their streak right now for the blue jackets? They have, they've won back-to-back games, points in six straight, four oh and two. Merslickens has been in net for all of those, all of those points. he's been their guy. They lost six in a row to start November, and then something happens,
Starting point is 00:39:48 five one and one since, and they've been a tough out. They're physical, they're fast. Scoring, you said. Well, and I looked at this, and it was another one of those things, five on five scoring. They're third in the National Hockey League.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Wow. In five on five scoring, which is wild to me. The flight, they've scored. This is their top score. Well, it's Werensky in points. Marchenko leads in goals.
Starting point is 00:40:13 He's got 10 goals and 23 games. I don't have a computer to look at comments. Like, is anyone know who's? No, it's, yeah, it's spread out for sure. And these are young guys on a market that's got no love because they've been irrelevant. But like, Voronkov's a real good. Marchenko has been really good. Like Fantilli and Johnson are coming.
Starting point is 00:40:33 There's both top three picks, if I'm correct, in the last five years. Cillinger was a 12-40. Smokey. Johnson missed. What would be you a smoky? What are you talking about? Trail. He played in trail.
Starting point is 00:40:44 He missed 14 games with an injury. But has played, has a point in every other game that he's played this. He's not been held off the score sheet once this year. Wow. He was a Wolverine as well. I draft out of college. Wolvey.
Starting point is 00:41:03 J-Rod? Kent. I spell that. Easy. So yes. They are maybe, and it was kind of what we were kind of getting into when we went to Jev's. This is one of those teams on it.
Starting point is 00:41:18 We just don't pay a lot of attention to. That's on us, I guess. There's been no need to. Now the kids are gone out. They've been drafting high and for a considerable amount of time. And maybe now they're coming of age. Buronkov, Marchenko, Chinikov, like Russian guys that all big, all talented. Like, there's, this team's coming.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Remember last year you went. And it was down the stretch. And it's like, man, like big and talented all over. Just young, young, young. Yeah, it'll be fine. Like, there's a lot here down to grow into. Everyone loves the backup, the Russian terrorist. He's been there a while.
Starting point is 00:41:51 It's kind of time for him to start threatening to eat into that workload. This probably over the next year or two. Cole Cillinger, of course, I don't know if you mentioned him in there. He's almost kind of a, he's 12th overall in 2021, had a great start and then has cooled a bit. They have no Boone Jenner. he's not expected back until March, I think. He's had. Branson hurt, Brindley hurt, Chinikov, hurt, as you noticed.
Starting point is 00:42:13 So that's who's with the team right now, points in six straight. So that's. So they're real good. Well, and we got a peak. A win tonight would put them into a playoff spot depending on other results in the east. That's, that's probably alarming to a lot of people. Now, it's still early. I'm not saying if they get it, they're hanging in, but they're that close.
Starting point is 00:42:36 truth. I didn't expect them to be in that Buffalo, Detroit, Ottawa, but they're... Yeah, I agree. I think everything went so wrong last year. Like, Babs right out of the gate. New coach is pressing the wrong buttons. Linae didn't want to be there. Clearly, there was friction between Eurecheck and the team where he and the agent.
Starting point is 00:42:57 Don would else come in and said, if you don't want to be here, we'll move you. Like, we'll move you with a second, Patrick Linae to get you out of here. Very different scenario with Eurecheck. They get a first, a second, a third, a fourth, and a prospect for him. Well done. But it's a lot, yeah. Yeah, it's like half a tenor,
Starting point is 00:43:12 or whatever, almost a full tenor, you know. The, yeah, like, I, I just think it's,
Starting point is 00:43:16 it's a clean slate for these guys, and they've got a better coach. Fantilli's a guy that you almost forget about it in a way. There was so much love given to, you know, the overrated Connor Badaard guy. Right, that you don't like.
Starting point is 00:43:28 Who's that? Yeah. Who's that? He's got to learn to play in both ends of the ice. Van Tilly third overall. I think it was a 13 game goal. fullest drought, much like Badaard, went through a scoring drought, but then scored in the last game. So he's got to watch as well, these young blue jackets. Young jackets. Yep. Young jackets.
Starting point is 00:43:48 Flames, meanwhile. What can we say about the flames? Good at home. Just move on. Very good at home. Nine and three. You already said to Pender. It's a must win. Yeah, that's right. Well, look, they got St. Louis coming up on Thursday. been much better under Jim Montgomery. Jimbo. And then you're away for a pair, which will not be easy. Dallas and theoretically a desperate national team, unless they quit by then.
Starting point is 00:44:19 And then you're home for five where you got some good teams in there, Boston, Tampa, Florida, amongst others. The gauntlet? Nah, not the gauntlet, but it's, you got a lot of home games. This is a proof to us you can, if you want to convince people, your, your playoff contender, because I think a week ago some people were gone ho, that road trip took some wind out of the sales. I was just going to say, it's a very different tone and tenor from a week ago.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Yeah, of course. Where force, not, four, that's not bubblings, but it was, it was very sobering. The, uh, things or whatever. The goaltending kind of did this, and the goal scoring kind of went this and the penalty killed. Terrible. I want to do that.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Which bad? Cold. You don't want one. We do have news on start. today. Now whose turn would it be? What? I don't know. It's a little...
Starting point is 00:45:11 Hello. Barn burner. We do have breaking news this morning. Yeah. Hello. Is that part of it? No. It's my fat fingers. I kind of like that off the top.
Starting point is 00:45:36 Did you? Hello? Into the breaking? Yeah. It's kind of... It works for sure. Did I've missed it the first time where did he add to it? That's really nice. Hello. It gets everyone. You give us some hello? No, you can't draw attention to it. But it's not because you didn't know it was coming.
Starting point is 00:45:51 I loved it. I need more of it. It's your. A damn with ours. It's true. Wolf allowed four to Columbus. I wanted Dan allowed of Pittsburgh on Saturday. I believe six.
Starting point is 00:46:03 Maybe, yeah, I don't think. We've never. Hang on. It's the first time all year. First time all year, we've seen a guy get back-to-back starts coming off a loss. Hello. But Wolf is allowed four in back-to-back games. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:46:24 Ottawa, Columbus. Hartford, Montreal. Pittsburgh. Can I say something? Yeah, fire. Go ahead. There's going to be a GM in town watching Vladar. Oh.
Starting point is 00:46:41 There's someone in the rap. Barnburn. Really? showcase. They call it showcase. Which GM is like a showcase. Wow. Somebody's in town.
Starting point is 00:46:55 Hey. So that's, so you don't have, it's not breaking news. You don't have insider knowledge. You're saying the reason in your mind that Vlodar is starting, it must be. It was so mad we talk.
Starting point is 00:47:06 Because there's a GM in town. The showcase. It's the showcase late night of view. It makes no sense. So you've got to dig deep. You got to get outside the box. Of course, this game not, not televised. So that GM must have.
Starting point is 00:47:17 have to be in town. It's okay. It's better to view them live. You know what? It's kind of switched a little bit. It was not that long ago. It didn't matter which goal you went in. You put in there.
Starting point is 00:47:28 It's going to be just fine. Top five. Right now, whichever goal you put in? Hang on. I haven't minded the goalies. Oh, what? Six. Can I headbut you?
Starting point is 00:47:37 No, I just mean like they've been outplayed so badly. Like, have they been? Make a save. Sure, make a save. So what? It's three nothing instead of five nothing? Sure. Right.
Starting point is 00:47:46 So you still lose. It changes the whole thing. Three nothing. They can't score four. You're telling me at three nothing they're coming back. They've scored three zero times more than that since October 13th. Always got to stop. No, I think the goaltending, of course, was going to come back to Earth a bit, but they just
Starting point is 00:48:02 haven't played that well. These are four of the bottom six teams in the eastern when they left for that trip. I understand. I understand what you're saying. Right from the goaltending has been a part of this whole thing. Agreed, but we weren't expecting it to stay at best in the league, were we? I was. No, but it.
Starting point is 00:48:17 You're saying you haven't minded the goaltending. No, not as much as the work ethic. That's a much bigger issue to me. How about Wolf winning the Vesna? Bold. I would believe that there's more issues with the forwards and D right now than you had the goaltending on that road trip. Penalikil's been awful and you got outworked four in a row.
Starting point is 00:48:35 This team did not get outworked much at all this year. Landish statements, Ryan, without having any information to back them up. Hey. Hey, it's a shoulder. You were on the penalty kill. Damn right. Hey, well, please fix this.
Starting point is 00:48:47 Why? 30th in the league. What did Merrick just say about the Leafs? I don't know. They block shots. Everybody block shots. Block the shot. You got to block shots.
Starting point is 00:48:57 David. It's very easy. Block shot. So what this, and this should be a team. That's good at. It's got some. Last year they were. Yeah, because you're not good at scoring.
Starting point is 00:49:07 Almost the same personnel is a great penalty kill last year. Yes, you've deleted Hanifantana, but come on. Jack, call that. The, uh, Penalty co-coach. Pets place. Call the Pets place, Jack.
Starting point is 00:49:18 Get some answers. Well, I'm asking you, you're the... Block shots. Just block shots? Does that need to be taught? No, it has to be bought in. Okay. Yeah, I agree with that.
Starting point is 00:49:33 You'd be willing. So keep an eye on that tonight. Put your, when, inevitably, when the... Do they still wear the shot blockers on the, on their hook? I don't know. I believe so, yeah. Yeah? I think so.
Starting point is 00:49:45 They're encouraged to. they can't mandate it because it's not in the CBA. It's kind of coaching thing, right? It's organizational. They're just saying, look, it's not worth the broken foot. Awesome people around. Yeah. Jackets are no screaming hell special teams.
Starting point is 00:49:59 They've got the 21st power play, the 26th P.K. Power play's been better for Calgary. Sure has. So. For that, that's about it. But you look at that roachin without that power play. Hoof. They're actually almost 30% on the roadie power play,
Starting point is 00:50:14 believe it or not. And still. Still crickets and can't get to four goals and not close. It's still lost all the games. See, we should have got the center, the goal scoring center, I said two, three weeks ago. Should have. Then you'd be losing these games by two instead of four. Oh, shut up, Mr. Negative.
Starting point is 00:50:32 Not negative. This is where you thought they were all summer. You just got sucked into a two-week hot stretch. Yeah. Pinder didn't know. No, I think we all understand what this team is. No. That was hot goal time.
Starting point is 00:50:44 Dusters. no i think i think they're a team that works hard in place in structure situation at this point right well i mean peak pain is staring them right in the face yeah but you're right there is that's the one thing you got to avoid jesus you're negative no no it's not negative it's it's december i go home i turn the tunes on the lights are on the rice everything is great it's brown liquor and then i come here and just get kicked in the face that's the worst case scenario for this team. 15th.
Starting point is 00:51:18 11th. And they give that pick to Montreal. Well, what difference does it make? Well, the closest to 11th. I mean,
Starting point is 00:51:23 yeah, higher pick. 15th, 11th. More painful. Oh, Connie, if you need help, we're here. I don't know. Are you losing calling?
Starting point is 00:51:34 I don't think Connie thought this was a playoff team two weeks ago. I believe he understands that, you know, that was a hot street. We subscribe to the work ethic. Yes, we do.
Starting point is 00:51:47 And the goal team. If this is, I think will be above average work as a Wendezer bragging about how hard they were to play against. At home. At an identity. Yes. That identity was not shaken. That identity was he talked about at home.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Let's see it. Prove us, prove us to us that you're still elite at home. So you can't. You know what? Soft. These guys are also south. Can't go on the road.
Starting point is 00:52:12 Don't know. Lassau South. I got to go on the road and play guilty. Come on now. What was that last road trip? Ottawa, Bearfax. Okay. Detroit.
Starting point is 00:52:19 What are you doing in Detroit? go to Windsor to Windsor. See, you know. It's Columbus. You're going to go to Ohio State. That's your band there. And that was Thanksgiving.
Starting point is 00:52:28 Pittsburgh. Yeah. Pittsburgh. Oh, no one looks. It's a bunch of riff, raff. Jack says they're back.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Terrible town to get around. Pittsburgh to the moon, eh, Jack? Terrible town. Which Pittsburgh team? It's okay. Settled on over there.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Pay attention. Oh, there are five nothing on the flames through, what, half a game? And Jack's like, pens are back you know what sucks what's that can't talk about the flames because pinder if we say anything nice pender will there's lots of nice things to throw a bomb on us if you if you yeah it's true
Starting point is 00:53:02 what can we say we can't talk about because if they do good well they're not going to be able to do good for long because they're not good if you get at home they're doing bad like then that's nothing new with pender though this is painful I mean it's whatever it is he's going to take the centrarian side he's going to argue you may think the sky's blue what if your eyes are wrong what if your blue is red yeah if colorblind's color it may look it may look blue to you this this guy was red this morning sure was to the to the east it was like your shirt really gorgeous so we need to be worried or yeah i was cruising into the seat and ymcate drop off your kid at the dog bark oh i see yeah they grab a coffee oh i'll be a
Starting point is 00:53:53 the pretzel stand. Analyze practice. I wouldn't be running this drill. This is a terrible. I'm not giving my kid enough ice time. Kids are all standing around. You got full ice for a reason.
Starting point is 00:54:02 Stupid coaches. You ever heard of stations? Some guys around. Get them moving. Get them moving. Two game homestine. How many points they need? Must win.
Starting point is 00:54:14 It's a must win. Columbus and St. Louis, both on the outside looking and both feeling good trying to get in. You need three points. points here. What are you trying to accomplish? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:54:26 You just told me they're going to be terrible. I'm asking you what your expectation of a good homestand is. Yes. Three out of four is a good home stand. Same as the road trip. It was five out of eight. Are they going to do it?
Starting point is 00:54:38 I have no clue. I'm just wondering if expectations change. Shitty goaltenders could start stopping some pox. It would help because you know they're not going to score. We've quit on the offense, haven't we? There's no. Yes.
Starting point is 00:54:50 It has been some time since they scored four. Can you, Go to the Pinder report. Let's put him on the spot. Well, I got stuff to do first. Oh, we'll do it. Put me on the spot,
Starting point is 00:54:59 whatever, doesn't it been to Roar? I just, we're not even talking like, how many goals is Coleman him? Back. It's like, no,
Starting point is 00:55:08 but he's on pace for his 15 to 20. He gets every year. He's, it's the same. He'll get to 16. Is he? Yeah, he is.
Starting point is 00:55:15 Coleman's at five. He's quarter point of the season. I think. Coleman's not going to score 30. That was the one time he'll do it as a flame. Like, he's riding a shooting, percentage that's above his career normal.
Starting point is 00:55:26 I think that was a great year. That happens. I think you a little bit better. See where Zach Hyman's at, by the way? He and Jesse Pallierreve have matched these stat lines. Three goals, five assists, eight points. I would see where they are, though. They're back in.
Starting point is 00:55:39 Oh, they were always staying in. Yeah. They're too good not to be in. Yeah. Back to you, Dean. Back to you, Dean. I'm just looking at that shirt and it reminded me of something. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Yeah. What's that? Origin brewing. Oh, our buddies at all. origin last week we uh we showed you we had the uh oh yeah we too right there our brand new can you see it there the after burner here than at your house pale ale there it is it's going to hold up he's got a cold one so there it is we have the barn burner blonde of course and now we have the afterburner pale ale we did not have anything to do with the uh what the recipe or the mix or the brewing or the brewing or the
Starting point is 00:56:25 brewing or anything. You guys tried that once. It was a disaster. It will be, uh, it will be good. But we're pumped about it. Brand new. We have two of them. And for the holiday season, lookie here. It's the holiday burner bundle. Gosh. You like that? I love it. You're going to get a four pack of the barn burner blonde. You're going to get a four pack of the afterburner pale ale. And then you get to, you know what you get to do? You get kind of pick. Pick some merch. You could get a, uh, there it is, the support local farmer's t-shirt. I like that.
Starting point is 00:56:57 That's good, yeah. Sport local farmer, drink beer. There it is. See? It does look same color. That's the origin tractor shirt. And then on the back, that one has the grow it, malt it brew it with just the kind of like what I'm wearing. Just the origin logo on the front.
Starting point is 00:57:13 And they have some hats in there as well, the black origin hat, a gray origin hat. So you pick one. Get one piece of merch with the. They got the sizes, four pack, four pack, and a t-shirt or a hat. 50 bucks until I mean they're not going to last forever It's a burner bundle. It's a burner bundle. It's the holiday burner bundle. A crisp refreshing ale. A blonde ale that's perfect for any occasion.
Starting point is 00:57:38 The pale ale. Kick up the flavor with our bold and hoppy pale ale. Do we get in trouble if we drink on the show? I don't know. I haven't drank in like a little. I'm not sure. So you go in there. I mean the beer is going to be you're getting the two of those and then you pick out which item you would like the hat or the t-shirt. the size and that sort of thing. And then,
Starting point is 00:58:00 Brett, I don't want you to have the paper steak. I'm breaking the streak right now. That's the least surprising thing ever. It's, you lasted a week, Ryan. No, I lasted nine days,
Starting point is 00:58:09 10 days. Congratulations. That's a good start. That's a good start. It's a great beer, Dean. Pick up available at the origin malting and brewing location in Calgary.
Starting point is 00:58:19 It's good. It's really nice. So you think we were talking the other day, you just want to get a gift. You want to get it bought. You want it off your plate. Hell yeah. What does dad?
Starting point is 00:58:27 want what does your brother want what is somebody that sort of thing your druncle your drunk all that drunken yeah well how about this how about it it's a perfect gift it's the perfect gift it's the perfect gift it tastes good it does taste good really well because a blonde's very different than pale ale red this is this is we're running the gamut here this is lovely and you like a hopier beer yourself yeah this is a little closer to your end this is right up my alley 943 28th street Northeast. A lug M.F. And of course, the original Spruce Park Drive in Strathmore.
Starting point is 00:59:04 Maybe take a couple. I mean, it's going to just, you do the order. They're going to let you know. You go pick it up. Happy, happy, happy. Originbrewing.C. has all the info there. That's right. Just do that.
Starting point is 00:59:14 They've also got the delivery frequently asked questions. The Fah cues, I like to say. What? Fah cue, the frequently asked questions. Jeez. What do you think so? That's, you're walking to fire line, mister. there you go
Starting point is 00:59:28 it's really nice team you like one I think we should do this boy Jack you want one I had my four on Saturday before I ended up before you ended up what getting tutored higher education
Starting point is 00:59:42 hire learning oh dear tell me your buddies watch this show I hope they're just dying I had a duster from Glenn Lake send me a link to their fundraising that I'd help the people from that name. Thanks, Lyle.
Starting point is 01:00:00 Yeah. Which Lyle. Marshall. I saw Loll this morning. This kid's monster. Let's get to the Pinder report. Brought you by Village Honda. Located in the Northwest Auto Mall.
Starting point is 01:00:15 It's your dealership for life thing. Come on. Your dealership for life. Village Honda.com. And maybe now it's the warmer weather. It's like, okay, well, we got through that cold snap and my vehicle was no good. Jack. Didn't start getting, exactly.
Starting point is 01:00:29 Jack. Maybe you had a situation. with your vehicle where as soon as it warms up and I cannot do that. I'm not doing an entire winter with this set of wheels again. Get to Village Honda. They're part of the Wood Automotive Group. If they don't have on the lot what it is you're looking for, they're going to go through the entire dealership group and find what it is that you're
Starting point is 01:00:48 after. That's a guarantee. Because they're your dealership for life. It's better for it. Game day, boys. Let's go. Let's go. It's go.
Starting point is 01:01:01 there's the captain of the Calgary Flames. It is the flames in the blue jackets. It'll be an emotional night to be sure. Pike actually had an interesting little factoid here. Now, no, no, not every time Pike comes up, do we have to push the boat? Is it? The Saddle Lome has 111 regular season games left.
Starting point is 01:01:21 That's it. Tuesday nights could be one of the most memorable and emotional evenings in its history. Buy and or selling. Missed an apostrophe and it's at the end there. Come on, you're a writer, Pike, clean it up. It's would be, it is. It's ownership.
Starting point is 01:01:39 Possessive. It's history. You're probably right, but Pike doesn't make mistakes. I know. Not a Pike bomb or Pike bomb? That's not a Pike bomb. It needs to be some news that we're, oh, what? Is that, that's new.
Starting point is 01:01:52 That's info I've not heard before. That is without Pike's bomb. I would not have known that. All right. Well, you know what? We got something later that might be a Pike bomb. All right. Let's get to this more serious.
Starting point is 01:02:02 and somber stuff, the Godrose are in town. There's dad on the ice using his son's old stick. They found one in the back of the locker room. Oh, my God, incredible. This makes me happy because you couldn't even imagine how much hurt there is, but you know that being on the ice is always such an escape from the things bugging you, whether you're a coach or a player, just to get out there and enjoy being on the ice. Happy to see him there.
Starting point is 01:02:32 Love it. The sticks that were dropped off at the Saddle Dome as part of the memorial after Johnny's and Matthew's passing have been turned into a bench at Flames Community Arena, which is awesome to see. A local designer talked about building it. And there it is. In loving memory of Johnny and Matthew Goddrault. This bench was handcrafted using sticks left by the Sea of Red on the steps of the Saddle Dome in tribute to Johnny and Matthew marry their memory, live on forever. Very cool. Sit your butt down on that and wish the family well next time your path. Passing through FCA, Red. I'm going to stare at it. I'm not going to. Don't want to touch it? Nope. Okay. Have you touched the cup?
Starting point is 01:03:10 No. Didn't we? Yeah. Well, you're not yet. I should have pushed it over. Once you run Husk out of town and take over behind the bench in a few years, then you'll be able to lift it on your own. Call me, Murray. Call me, Murray.
Starting point is 01:03:25 Call me, Murray. Call me out. Yeah. The schedule looks a little, well, yeah, let's do, schedule first. Let's see what we got. That's hard to watch. I'm sorry. It really is. I know, Red. I'm sorry for everyone here. This is, it just, it still doesn't make sense. It still feels like it can't be true. It's wild. Here's the next five. Two at home, gone for two, then they're back for three. It's seven of nine before Christmas. They will play at home
Starting point is 01:03:49 where they have been great. And after a real tough road trip, uh, I imagine they're looking for some home cooking here. Extra motion as well in the building. I am curious here it goes tonight, just given all the magnitude of everything, all the emotions. Let's look at the standings, Gagre Flames out west. Still kind of, yeah. They're in. It's just that the team behind them. Feels inevitable, but, hey, no one's thought they'd win five in a row to start the season.
Starting point is 01:04:33 They've earned it. Quarterpoles season, they're in there. Can we catch L.A.? Maybe you catch L.A. Sure, I don't know. Is there a thing I could play? Yeah. So how would you characterize it?
Starting point is 01:04:42 It's kind of unfortunate as tenuous. It feels tenuous, Dean. It's like... We're in December, Dean, and the Calgary Flames are in a playoff spot. Yeah, yes.
Starting point is 01:04:52 Press something... Woo-hoo, emotional. Yeah, give me that wolf howl. Oh, you want the... Whatever. Yeah, there was a goalie. We'll be backing up tonight. We'll be back in.
Starting point is 01:05:09 Out east, Columbus, they got lost to play for it. It's funny. They're out of the playoffs. Flames are in. It feels like... And yeah, maybe it's because they played Friday in the road trip or whatever but clubs feeling great. A win would put them in if you look at it. Impressive
Starting point is 01:05:22 stuff. They already got a better points percentage than failure they're chasing. Okay. It would be kind of fun. They're tortsing their way into Mucky Middleland. Mishkov's been good. I don't know that they have a goalie yet. The sabres are out. But they're close. Really good for a while?
Starting point is 01:05:40 500. That's they got tage back. They swept California. You know what all that snow. It's separating the wheat from the chaff. Yeah, Doug was telling the kid about the combines and now it separates and you've got to have the hopper and, you know. On the origin website, look at this thing go. Or you could also. Doug doesn't like those ones.
Starting point is 01:06:02 He says it's too much. It goes out the back. They miss a lot of. Or you could probably do. The cream rise to the top. That's what we're seeing here. It's kind of what we're seeing. Oilers are now in.
Starting point is 01:06:13 Yeah. Colorado, it just feels inevitable. The origin is leading the. Oh, they got Scott Wedgwood. I'm not concerned at all. Wedge salad. I feel like a wedge now. Would you go for a wedge?
Starting point is 01:06:25 Have you ever made a wedge at home? No. Never. No. That's what I see. I got bacon at home. You got lettuce at home? No.
Starting point is 01:06:33 You got to need lettuce for the rights. That's the thing. I rarely have a full head of iceberg lettuce. Right. That I'm going to quarter up. Yeah. If you do, you feed it to your goat. You just start, yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:43 You do what? And my rabbit. Rabbit, rabbit? Yeah. Playoff. Dean saw this this morning. You liked it. Let's see it.
Starting point is 01:06:51 Let's go to it. This is on Dom's model at the athletic, where teams are at for playoff probability. You got your base cleaners, your safe shots, your likely bets, the bubble, unlikely bets, long shots, and basically out.
Starting point is 01:07:02 Flames are classified in a long shot with their odds of getting in the playoffs. Nashville? 13%. You're going to win that bet with noodles. Oh, no one on the bubble in the West. Double cheese toast.
Starting point is 01:07:13 Sorry. You guys have probably gone through this. Yeah. Eight at the top. He's going to be out here in December? Nudels. 19th, I believe. When is our drinky drink?
Starting point is 01:07:23 The next day. Oh my goodness. Pre-tape. What do we have to do? Get him to change his flight right now. When's the game? It's a Thursday night and Friday's the drinking show. He'll have to go.
Starting point is 01:07:37 No, we have to talk to him. He'll understand the magnitude. We're talking to them tomorrow. Okay. He'll be on the show tomorrow. You're right. You're right. Sorry, it's been very excited.
Starting point is 01:07:45 No, we both got excited. Okay, so get back to the level of it. You were going to focus. here. Okay, Columbus, well, yeah. I was. Yeah. On what? Dean's right. There's eight teams in the West that are all above 80% probability getting in. So that feels like it's sowing up already. Remember a few years ago in the East? It felt like that.
Starting point is 01:08:01 Yeah, it was locked. This also feels pretty locked because, yeah, the whole Utah vibes thing, they're not good enough. Do you have any animal house? So he really doesn't think the flames are going to hang on to this. Who's this that wrote this? This is Don with the athletic. He's got the one of the animal house? No. It's animals. You know what you notice there?
Starting point is 01:08:21 Can you go up? Jack. You got a place to be, Jack? Where you got a kick it off in five minutes? Got some snakes you got to look at? Got some tutoring. Look at the Washington capitals in the east. Washington looks legit, boys.
Starting point is 01:08:37 Have you been watching what's going on? Look at this. There's Dom's model. The windows closed. The cat, I'm sorry. Leading the Metro. No, I'm sorry. It's like the guy getting mugged in the parking lot.
Starting point is 01:08:48 That's right. Call an ambulance for you. The Caps, I was, and we can talk about, I mean, get into it. We love the caps, hey? Well, I'm surprised. He always does, I know, but he does have a default to the caps. I can remember being on a show that started really damn early, and he'd always go with cap stuff.
Starting point is 01:09:05 What's with you in the Caps? Washington, I say Washington. And remember when his bold prediction was the Caps to win the Cops to win the Cops. Oh, they'd never want to. And how did it work? You were right. Yeah. Nailed it.
Starting point is 01:09:18 No. a year ago, we didn't want them in the playoffs. They were done with the caps. They were boring. Go away. It was fat. Enough. I've always liked that Ovi's fat.
Starting point is 01:09:27 Yeah, it's kind of it's fine. And so of you. They've won four in a row. 101 goals scored. That's tops in the national hockey leagues. Wow. Second in the east because New Jersey did a little on them last night. Can you say it right?
Starting point is 01:09:40 New Jersey. New Jersey. And can you say what the caps city right? Jeez. Washington. It's a lot of. Jack. I got a lot of my, they go, got an animal house on there.
Starting point is 01:09:53 How many? What's their, what's their wreck? I don't. We didn't. You flashed east. I just saw, I just saw 90. Love Washington.
Starting point is 01:09:59 You know, the first time I was looking at that. It's like 93% holy cats. Oh, that's pretty good. Washington. Holy caps. Holy caps.
Starting point is 01:10:07 They played 24 games. They have six regulation losses. Jeez. That's best of the east. You love Washington and they love you. It's better than you. You should get. Jersey.
Starting point is 01:10:17 Olden jersey. Yeah. I really should. We'll get to the Rangers in a moment. They're tumbling. But before we get off the east, let's look at Columbus, because we told you if they win,
Starting point is 01:10:25 they could be in. Yeah. Columbus lines real quick. We saw these last Friday. Boronkov, Monaghan, Marshenko, don't know. Cillinger, Fantilly Johnson.
Starting point is 01:10:33 Those are all first rounders. Okay. It's easy. Danforth, good Greek food in Toronto. I don't know. Matthew Olivier, seven-goal tough guy.
Starting point is 01:10:42 Love to see that. Look at all 21 there. Well, 2-1. That's actually like the retread line. like JVR, you know, all a flyer, oh, here or there, never thought, never think it was a blue jacket. Corrally made his name in Boston on the fourth line. Wasn't Kevin LeBank was a guy that took the pay cut. What an idiot.
Starting point is 01:11:01 I'll sign one year, one million. And then he was no good and couldn't get the money back. Who told you to do that? I think he signed a four times four coming out of it, but he could have got way more than that. Yeah, he signed at least he had one. It was one year where he helped them out. Yeah. 30.
Starting point is 01:11:15 There's your blue line. Dante Fabro, a nice little waiver pay. up he's top pair with Werenski has been awesome proverov severson christiansen who uh ret likes and jordan harris who was cast up by the house because you could have had him here for nothing there's a lot of those when you when you run an hl team and a w hl team there are a lot of those over time we always talk about marty jones i i have a personal interest because i that's right i spoke highly of this young man and they told me to go pounce well who else was there the of the similar nature did you get to see the one of them that are playing in the nash what about that's uh that big
Starting point is 01:11:48 that big college signing that they had. Who was the kid from around here from Cochran? He was a rough and tumble. He kind of was not very good. Bryce Van Brabant. Well, who was the... It was five years ago now. No, no, he's a defense.
Starting point is 01:12:01 They'd have been high on Connor Mackey. He played a couple. Yes, Conor Mackett. At that time. It was going to be a big deal. Kenny Morrison. Schumer, Schumannockety?
Starting point is 01:12:11 Schumer and Sam? Shit your pants? No. No. Sure. Sherman, shirt, sure. Go ahead. It's the Pinner Report. Ryan, would you first keep going? Seven an aneurysms? Just a experience delicious.
Starting point is 01:12:27 It's the holiday burner bundle. Yeah. Ordenbro-R-G-A-A-A. As for these blue jackets, who's been good for them? Sure, Mama, Mama. Sherman, sure. S-H-E-U-R-M-A-N. S-C-H-E-U-R-M-A-N. We're going to do the spelling bee on the drinking show.
Starting point is 01:12:47 we get red to spell the last names of people he's there was who could i text it but i know the uh pascal sean monahan's been really good boys yeah and he's a great player and we ran him out of town and gave up a first correction is it seen monahan or shone that's a throwback i don't know if he remembers look at his face that kid i never found it that kid's 30 now oh god this we get us all feel old let's go to uh the another uh ryan pike per Ryan Pike, according to the
Starting point is 01:13:21 NHEL stats, Sean Monaghan, seen Monaghan has played as a visitor at the dome twice. Two assists with Montreal, December 1st, 2022 as a win. And a hat trick in their loss the Jets here last winner. Hey, settle down, Sean.
Starting point is 01:13:37 Settle down, seen. He was never a good passer. It's not a pike bomb there. That's not a pike bomb. That's data that is readily available should you choose to look at it. Right. And if you're just a good passerer, I'm not a pike bomb there. Right. And if you looked at that date and you wanted to make a bet with our friends,
Starting point is 01:13:52 bet 365, this would look like plus 375 for a two point mona. This is how we roll. I like that a lot. We need some sort of a drop for something like that. Pullman. Tucker Pullman. Is that who you think? Hunter Mackie. Yeah. John Kuznetsov. John's still around. How's he doing? So this is the year that you're, that's right, Dean.
Starting point is 01:14:16 That's where I'm down there, kicking ass and taking names. dominating taking names and what's that funny thing wait wait i think i've got it yeah shunerman corius shuneman he's st louis okay okay and he played for the and they kept him and so this anyway i don't know what point you're getting at but i've been drinking so it's not my fault doesn't take much with that delicious i had eaten so coffee and beer and i'm off to the Burner bundle. Paleal 50%. Wow.
Starting point is 01:14:52 That does it in 5.0. There's no decimal there. Holy crap. Easy, boys. Well, former blue jacket. That line A. Back in the lineup tonight.
Starting point is 01:15:04 Shut the front door. Looking like Line will return to the Habs lab side. That's Darren. It's since been confirmed. I can't trust that guy. Drag a bomb. It's a sharp dress. Where is you right there?
Starting point is 01:15:15 He's hidden. Where's that place in Manitoba? Lake the prairies. He's fixed. That's hot water. tank yeah the sump pump it's an inflatable mattress there he's
Starting point is 01:15:25 floating Rangers is trouble boys big big trouble last night we hit this on 365 we had the devil's minus one and a half is your biggest rival gets or one of them at least gets to come in and punch you in the mouth while things are struggling they've lost six of seven
Starting point is 01:15:41 who's coach in there well right now Pete Lavillette oh Pete you've lost room you can hear what's happening though and then you know it's bad when the former NFL quarterback Backways in. Horrendous loss to the devil's tonight.
Starting point is 01:15:54 There are no words to describe the level of disgust with the Rangers. Either you want to be here or you don't. Coach, player, GM are the ones responsible. Something is way off. The time is now to save the season. I like the passion. Love the passion. I like the passion that Booms got.
Starting point is 01:16:11 Yeah. Boom's a big part of this team. He's a real boom. Get the feeling there that maybe Booms seen about four periods of Rangers hockey all year. I went and scrolled through and he was doing the same thing. college. Butler can't be doing this with their time. I'm just like, okay, I see what it is.
Starting point is 01:16:25 It's everywhere. I'm with them. There are some that are suggesting maybe it's just cool the Jets a little bit, that this is still very much a playoff team. They may not win the president's trophy. It's a very talented roster. They've lost six to seven. They got blown out last night by their rivals.
Starting point is 01:16:40 Yeah. Like, I think they want it to be quiet, but as long as they keep losing, this is the hottest seat in the NHAT. They want it to be quiet, but they're putting out all this BS about trading guys. Apparently, per Elliott Friedman, there is a GM's chat where they all communicate. And the code is that nothing gets leaked out of there. So if a player is available, you can slide his name in there. Kind of.
Starting point is 01:17:02 Hang on. Hang on. You can pry in a bit. The names Crider and Truba were in there. That got out and got public. And to your guys' point, that's full chaos. Players, agents, other GMs. No!
Starting point is 01:17:19 He was. And so I think the Rangers are pissed that that got out. And Elliot even said it on the show this week, that it's just calling around on the weekend. GMs are very wary to say anything at this point. It's shell-shocked a lot of people around the league that those names got out. So I don't know. Well, what?
Starting point is 01:17:38 No. But why, yeah, like no trip is available. Computer, dork. Yeah, you are. And so you've got to be using the right chat platform. Or you can hack it. You think they got hacked? Yeah, what kind of encryption are they using?
Starting point is 01:17:55 Jack, what kind of encryption were they using? Dean? Do you know? No, I don't, Brett. I don't know what they're using. We're using 2.0. Or maybe they got into the pale ales and sent it to the, like they thought it was a private chat and they sent it to the group chat and whoopsie. Oh, no.
Starting point is 01:18:10 Kind of like the, I got that yesterday. I got one of the chats. Really? This guy's full year calendar. Blood work. Meet with the doctor. Take the dog. to the vet. Meet up with my side piece at the motel. Oh boy. Who schedules this? Jeez, that's
Starting point is 01:18:25 come on now. Careful. Careful now. Anyway, Rangers is hot water there. That's, I don't know. There's not a hotter spot. Nashville might be runner up right now to hot seats. Do you agree? I don't. Okay. I think it's, it's not good, but I don't, are you going to fire Pete Labia left? I think they might. The owner's been super irrational. Remember when they got rid of John Davidson and Jeff Gordon. I think that's a big part of this. And obviously, if they continue to spiral, if you win, if you lose
Starting point is 01:18:57 five of six, contend every chunk, then yeah, this turns to nine of 10, like, I think they're ready to do something irrational and stupid, whether it's a bad trade, firing. Yeah, the owner's a dip ship. The owner's a big piece of it. But if you're going to do, you have one of the winningest coaches, what, top five in NHL history.
Starting point is 01:19:13 Who always has a shelf life. What are you going to do? You can go, who are you getting? I don't know. And again, it feels like more of a violation of trust from the GM's chair than the coaches, right? And the trooper situation, we all know what it is. He's got full no trade protection. He's up at the end of the year. They kind of have to live with that one.
Starting point is 01:19:30 But Crider's name's a big one. He's a captain. I don't get the credit. It's really odd. And Chris Drury's been a bit of a mercenary there, like ruthless. And I get it. You have to kind of be a bit of that as a GM in the NHL. But that's a name no one expects to see.
Starting point is 01:19:46 Your captain with like three years left on his deal. scored 50 in that jersey I mean when did they name on the captain was drury there was he the GM when they did that you can't care about that stuff so the GM gets to pick the captain even though the captain's the leader in the room no what I'm saying is if you're the GM
Starting point is 01:20:03 do you look at it so well this guy I got to get him out of here but he is wearing the sea don't be jealous you know what the problem with drury is he's jealous because craters being there forever and did more for the ranges than drury ever did and he's going to as soon as he's done he's going to jump up up jury's job preservation Yep. Jury.
Starting point is 01:20:20 That should be asked. That is jury. That is jury. So this is Christopher. I, it's just, yeah, it's something to watch. It's, it's not normal. Okay, let's move. NHL tonight. Who's playing? Jack, how many games are we got? What do we, what do we got cooking?
Starting point is 01:20:37 We got a lot of games. 10. 1, 2, 3. Any way? Oh, oh, it's 10 or 11? 10. He's right. It's 10.
Starting point is 01:20:46 Great counting, D. Wow. So how many teams are playing? If you play, 201. Okay, 21 in action. Who's got the three way? Oh, Jack.
Starting point is 01:20:56 Oh, wow, geez. Okay. Oh, hey. Let's start with an original. Original six-stop. Stop the hammering. Yeah. Maybe it's a Christmas show month.
Starting point is 01:21:09 I think you do that. Once a week, twice a week. Well, we'll just play it out. Okay. You don't have to set. Well, Pinders got the fridge. It's nice and cold, eh? It is cold.
Starting point is 01:21:18 I told you we needed those cold. You didn't trust me. Back to you. Well, I knew they, within arms reach is the dangerous part of that. The Bow and Byron Bowl tonight. I know that's going to be big. Yeah. Colorado Buffalo.
Starting point is 01:21:29 They call him Bobo? They do now. I would call him Bobo. Fat. No. Don't call him Boob. That's so stupid. Since we're in the festive mood.
Starting point is 01:21:45 Just take a sip and let me. Have a sip of your delicious afterburner pale. Yes. Don't egg me on. I'm not. It's just, you should hydrate here. I feel like you're, this is market. Dry mom.
Starting point is 01:21:56 We need to promote the beer. Please have a sip. It's well, yeah. Go get the bundle. You go in the hat or the t-shirt. What are you getting? I don't wear shirts. I don't wear shirts.
Starting point is 01:22:10 I'm summer. I'm out on the farm. I don't know. That needs to be a shirt. I don't wear shirts. It's Rhett Warner wearing a shirt. We'll sell a thousand. Jack, can you make that jimperous?
Starting point is 01:22:25 Use AI, Jack. Make them look good. Better encryption. Interesting one to cap the night, Vegas hosting Edmonton. It was a Vegas comeback in Eichl two points. I'd see that in our bet, 365 bets of the day. Didn't it used to be a big deal when Ikel and McDavid used to play each other? Well, one is a cup, so I think the debate's over.
Starting point is 01:22:47 Wow. Twist a knife. Good for you. Yeah. Stop the hammering. Stop the hammering. Uh, happy birthday.
Starting point is 01:23:00 Big birthday. One of Dean's favorites. Uh, they met the summer. Oh. Not the only fans girl. Uh, there is Walter Ignatze.
Starting point is 01:23:09 He is, uh, another year older. He's hanging. Happy birthday. I mean, Voltari. Uh,
Starting point is 01:23:14 boy, vault. Yeah, some, very tall. Oh, yeah. You almost scored that empty another in Pentick. He did. He's a sweet boy.
Starting point is 01:23:21 He's a sweet boy. We like to. On the pond, now, this show's kind of going off the rails, which is perfect, because we're leading right into James Winston speech time. Jack was so done with him, but then you got to remember he beat the Steelers. And so now that it's kind of getting back into Browns beat the Steelers, they're going to do it again
Starting point is 01:23:38 next week. Okay, Jack, let's get to the pregame. Browns, Cleveland, against Broncos, Denver. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Go, man. Come on.
Starting point is 01:23:54 Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. I got a great word for you, man. And I want you to stick with me, okay? Statement me one word at a time, all right? Yes, sir.
Starting point is 01:24:07 Blessed is the man who endures. Blessed is the man who endure. Today it's going to be about enduring. Today is it's going to be about taking it to them all four quarters, man. We can't come out, we can't come out of your slacking. We can't come out of your backing. Come on your back in. Come on your fight.
Starting point is 01:24:23 Come on your fight. come from your heart they got it come from your heart i don't care about no mile high i care about the brown get down and potter fly yeah i can't about the brown sit down and listen up man we're going to four quarters and we're going to take it today but all right next time family three family family on me one two three bad man who it's a lot no wonder jack was cheering for the browns i'm jack i'm pumped up too I don't care about the mahi. I care about the Browns get down to multiply. What does that mean?
Starting point is 01:24:57 Not sure. It doesn't matter, Jack. It sounds great. Rhymes. It does rhyme. I like the rhyme. I like the very beginning when he's just trying to get warm. I'll drink to that.
Starting point is 01:25:06 Miles Garrett's cat a look at there. Like, we're doing this again? He's got the headband. I'm like, okay. Bring it in right now. Let's do that on three. Let's go right now.
Starting point is 01:25:15 All right. Yeah. Me team on three. So how to go? Let's go to the post game for James. What do you got, James? I know I'm better than this. I know I'm like I'm just praying for the Lord to deliver me from pick sixes.
Starting point is 01:25:33 Oh, baby. I am praying for the Lord to deliver me from. I know I'm better than this. I know I'm like I'm just praying for the Lord to deliver me from pick sixes. The Lord can only do so much, James. It's tough to deliver you from those when you keep throwing into double coverage young man. You screw them in back-to-back series. You're going to need to take some responsibility for those pick sixes.
Starting point is 01:25:55 I'm here to help James, but. So check this out. This is amazing. James Winston threw for 497 yards. That's insane. The Broncos also had 171 interception return yards against him. The 668 combined passing yards plus interception yards are the most any single quarterback in a NFL history is thrown.
Starting point is 01:26:17 He doesn't care what's going to. He's the yardage king, boys. I'm tossing it out there. Yeah, he had one of the best and worst Monday night football quarterbacking performances of all time on the same night. Who! That's incredible. Most yards ever. You know what?
Starting point is 01:26:35 He doesn't see, maybe he's color by. Is everyone's same team? I'm just throwing the ball around. Every time I throw, someone's taking it a long way. Wow. Those are similar colors because the Broncos have some orange.
Starting point is 01:26:45 No, he got the eye surgery, remember? No. But after he threw 30 touchdowns and 30 picks. And then he got the eye surgery. You got zapped. The 30, 30, 30, come. Oh, my God. That's insane.
Starting point is 01:26:57 And you pick the brown. And the thing of it is, what an idiot. Jeez, Jack, you're buying pizza the rest of the year. He's kind of a sweet boy, you know. I like him. He's a modern day Dante Culpeper. I don't know people remember him. He would be like five touchdowns, four turnouts.
Starting point is 01:27:13 He's a lot. It's a high event player. He's excited. I love him. He needs to be in this league. Duster. There have been five, 235 yard receipts. performances this decade.
Starting point is 01:27:24 Last night, Jerry Judy did it against his old team. Terry Kill 2020, believe it. Maybe the best receiver in the game at that point. Mark Chase has done it twice. He's out on Thursday a couple weeks ago. He's a monster. Maybe the best receiver in the game today. And twice by Brown's receivers right after
Starting point is 01:27:39 Deshaun Watson suffered season. He throws it up. And last year was Flacco that served one of these up. Don't turn off Brown's games when he's a quarterback. and take the over. You know what you do. Don't watch the Browns until Deshawn gets hurt.
Starting point is 01:27:56 Then tune in. It's never boring at the end, Jack. Once they go to the real quarterback, what's DeShan's hurt? Yeah, they should have won that game, honestly. Without the two 171 yards they gave to the other team and they had it.
Starting point is 01:28:12 Based on what? Based on Wednesday. I looked in the first half. He was dominating. Maybe just run the ball once. Yeah. Give the ball to chub, please. once and you probably win it.
Starting point is 01:28:23 It is the final week of fantasy football before playoffs. Whatever league you're in, you may have a white knuckle, you may have a breezing into a buy, you may be vying for home field advantage in an imaginary stadium. Let's take a look at the media hacks, fantasy football league. Andrew McBride, 14 teams, right at the top, tied with Dean, myself, and logo. Nine and four, you blew it, Dean. You could have wrapped up top spot last week. Blew it.
Starting point is 01:28:51 How'd you blew it? Started Calvin Ridley instead of Marvin Harrison. Yeah, probably. Had plenty of points, but that's okay. How many do I got? Maddie Rose is in, John Bender's in, Julian McKenzie's in, and there is a three-way battle for the final
Starting point is 01:29:10 playoff spot, Steinberg. Well, Wilsie stomped finger-cooking with Bill yesterday with a big comeback. I'd love to see that. Jerry, Judith. Jude, Judy. Jude, Judy. Jack needs a win.
Starting point is 01:29:23 He is Antonio Clown. If he gets in, he's in. I mean, if he wins, he gets in. And, yeah, then I need a win as well because I'm not going to the Moss pit. No, I need empty bed to lose too. Wow, or pass them in points. It should be tough to do. Yeah, 200 point night.
Starting point is 01:29:39 Yeah, I got you. That's probably true. Need some help for sure. Good luck, Jack. Or G. Joe to lose. That's great. Okay, that's enough time on this.
Starting point is 01:29:47 Yeah, that's probably a lot. Uh, rat, stay out of the moss pit. We'd love to send Wilsy up there. Put my point. Trips to the Moss pit are kind of like bananas. They tend to come in punches. They do come in punches, yeah. Let's get to, here's the thing with fantasy, really tough.
Starting point is 01:30:04 This is the last, what, like eight, nine years of first overall picks. Just on average, who's the top player drafted every single year? This year, Rhett, you had first overall pick. Who did you take? Christian McCaffrey. Four games played. Your prior, Justin Jefferson, 10. okay, that's more than half the season, but they're playing 17 last year.
Starting point is 01:30:25 Jonathan Taylor 11, McCaffrey again, 7, McCaffrey 3. Oh, dear. I only thought he had two bad years. Sequin, 13, that's not bad. Gurley 14. Remember Gurley was dominant for a while there. And then he just evaporated. And David Johnson won.
Starting point is 01:30:40 There is a cursed first overall picks. He had girly and you'd always do. I had to. I won that year. It was maybe the year before, no, because he had already gone off. I got him for like nothing and then he went crazy and I won that year. But I also in 2022 and 23 had the first overall picks somehow in back to back years. Jonathan Taylor took Taylor.
Starting point is 01:31:01 He stunk. Yeah, he took JJ and he was just good enough. Yeah, he missed half the frigging season. You don't like picking first. You've been consistent about it. I think you might actually grow to like the spot you picked in because no. Okay. He wants the middle.
Starting point is 01:31:17 He likes what he likes. Don't argue with him. That's right. I will argue. you forever about it. Come over the top. Yeah. We love guys jumping off high things into water.
Starting point is 01:31:26 Just don't miss, okay? Gotta hit the water. Well, that's... Like, there is null and for air there, boys. What if you're just a little firm and you hit the loss? Good job, man. Made on the Pender Report. Could have died, but you did make it on the Pender Report and you're still alive.
Starting point is 01:31:51 Oh, right, we got some footage. You went to swimming with sharks in South Africa. Yes, I did. You and the shoveler. The great whites. This is funny, because the day before it was you, but here we are, the day after you guys went on the trip, very different outcome, apparently.
Starting point is 01:32:08 Oh, geez, now, come on. Like that, I'd get out of the least. Just a taste. Wait. Is that a white or a tiger shark? it looks large but either way yeah i'd just prefer not to be in that spot if that's all right could i pick the no there's no an option don't you hate when wildlife just jill comes flying out of the bushes when you're driving sure do you see it with moose you've seen it with deer i mean what
Starting point is 01:32:36 else james yeah fox yeah i got to do that before oh oh dear oh dude Well, we saw it. Yeah, we didn't miss it. I was expected something different. Who's to blame there? Driver or biker? Oh, the biker's always having a free reign. It depends where you are in the world.
Starting point is 01:33:05 In the, uh, freaking nensur. You know, the biker. What's he just definitely the biker's fault? What does he think he's doing? Oh, here's the problem. There's another angle to this video because clearly some jackass is videotaping this biker doing some fancies,
Starting point is 01:33:22 right? I'm going to go right through traffic or in a video. Is it natural for people just have car like dash cams now? Yeah, because down there you get for this exact reason. Yes, for lawsuits. Lawsuits. Also, if you're a ride chair driver, then hell yeah. Those jerks, they pull in front of you and just lock them up and then you rear end them.
Starting point is 01:33:44 If you rear end someone. That's right. It's your phone. Get the camera. They'd be locking them up. I'm tired. Finally, this is embarrassing
Starting point is 01:33:54 I don't want to apologize I'm not proud of it but you know I used to go to music festivals when I was younger I enjoy a nice rave getting out meeting people dancing the night of life
Starting point is 01:34:08 that she's a lot that's up the night that week and no that lady is not happy she's okay she's like God she's not my snake's been treated better than this I like that girl she's in the background there dance
Starting point is 01:34:32 bouncing bouncing. Look, there's Dean. He's got his hula scared on. Isn't that awesome? Dean's the guy in the yellow. Ha. Ha.
Starting point is 01:34:43 Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. That's going to do it for you. Nothing like ending strong. Goodness gracious.
Starting point is 01:34:57 Anyway, we had a good time. Village Honda. New in stock inventory on the ground. think as 2024, how am I possibly getting a 2025? It's not 2025. It is at Village Honda if you want it to be. Wow. Yep.
Starting point is 01:35:11 They'll make the math work. They will make it work. Your dealership for life. Village Honda. Northwest Automal. For life? You said they're collected in not perishables for the veterans food banks, all right?
Starting point is 01:35:27 Well, until the end of November. Okay. So that's not been delivered. Excellent work, gentlemen. And ladies. It's not been delivered? It has been now. It's December, yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:38 Just in time of that holiday. Cut to my extra. Yeah, good job at living there, Ryan. Andre Kuzmanko. Yeah. We'll not be playing in the hockey game tonight for the county. They are going to follow through with the whole. Is that a pike bomb?
Starting point is 01:35:57 No, I'm not sure who. How do you know that? No, someone. You get all your, it's a, Francis bomb, a Steinbomb? I have a lot of people. It's a direct. Do you have conifidence in this move? I don't know what I have in it.
Starting point is 01:36:12 It's not ideal. No, it sure isn't. Because whoever is playing in place of him does not have more skill or ability. Do you mean walk a doer? Are you sure about that? You want to take that back? No, I'm good with that. I will stick with that, whether you want to put it in the pelche,
Starting point is 01:36:29 or whatever, whoever's coming in has less ability. Yeah. Than Kuzmanko does. And like we said, he feels kind of like a, there's a fragility there with him. Yeah, you haven't been playing well. He knows he hasn't been playing well. I haven't been scoring.
Starting point is 01:36:44 I'm trying hard. I'm trying too hard. I'm doing too much. Now I'm sitting. Just produce. That's what he wants to do. Or maybe. Does he?
Starting point is 01:36:55 Or maybe. He's off to the Rangers. Oh. Because that's what the Rangers need. Little shakeout. Because Menko they need. How many points? Not many.
Starting point is 01:37:06 Not enough. Like, is he appealing for any team to take? No. If you put it. him on waivers would he be claimed no not at the celery no i think he's making about four and a half plus yeah and the funny thing is outside of the rick tocket era prior to the season 40 goal pace scored to 40 goal pace after being acquired by the flames and scored a 39 is right now like yeah if you so was coleman over the last year on a he's a 30 goal pace guy colman's got 30 goal
Starting point is 01:37:37 pace guy colman scored 31st because megos got 39 is first year ever in the league. Okay. But do you know the, I should say what I'm saying. I'm sure he probably didn't in New Jersey, but I mean like. Jersey.
Starting point is 01:37:49 Yeah, I mean, there was definitely like, okay, he might not be a 40 goal guy, but you'd put him down for 30. Why? You watched him on? Because you watched him play for 20 games
Starting point is 01:37:57 and score a half goal a game. See, he's very confusing, Dean. Yeah, I don't know what he's doing. On small sample sizes, he will argue that you're an idiot.
Starting point is 01:38:05 It's too early and we haven't seen enough, but then he's on a. Okay, so real quick, rough math. Like he plays probably, let's call it 80 games his rookie year. He scores 39. He comes to Calgary. There's probably 20 games left.
Starting point is 01:38:18 That's 100 games of him playing at a 40 goal pace. That's not a small sample, right? Kevin LeBlanc. Bank. Bank. There was a LeBlanc too, wasn't it? Pure. Anyway.
Starting point is 01:38:33 Louis LeBlanc was the first round of the pubs. If you pick a certain time frame for a player, you can do this 100 games. he's supposed to be this. I know, but it's not insignificant. No, it's not. Your point's valid. It's just that it is, it's not a tiny sample.
Starting point is 01:38:53 Like, Talk it didn't like him. You got bench. But outside of that is NHL career. I think that's more important is the fact that there's been two organizations that even with the skill level have started to go, he's not worth having in the lineup. I think you've absolutely nailed it. that Ryan Huska and Rick Tocket are saying,
Starting point is 01:39:14 I'd rather go with a plumber that I know I'm going to get the work ethic from. That's a disturbing trend for Kismankov. I mean, the thing that you're, I'll say, conveniently leaving out, are the 43 games he played for Vancouver prior to the trade where he got eight goals. He had 39 the year prior in 81. Yes. No, and again, Rick Tuckett, he was not a fan from day one. There was a coaching change there.
Starting point is 01:39:35 That's why I frame it the way I do. He has one in 25 this year. Yeah. It's a bad pace. I've had. He's not making the power play better. He's not scoring. He's not getting assists.
Starting point is 01:39:46 And a shootout goal that one game. Yeah? Yeah. If only we can get to the shootout. No, and it's funny because if you had said, what could you get from the deadline in the off season? Man, like if he could get hot and be, you know, let's say he's at 27, 30 goals.
Starting point is 01:40:02 30 goal guy. Get a second rounder. That'd be unreal. Another part of that, Elias Lindholm trade tree. But at this point, he's lost at sea. I don't know what you do with them. and what does Huska want here?
Starting point is 01:40:14 Like he's a structure work ethic guy. He's not a, we'll trade some chances a bit. Because Medco needs to be on one of those trade chances a bit. Here's a question. Because I'm a deep thinker and I've had a drink. Do you want another one? I might.
Starting point is 01:40:28 Do you believe if the flames weren't, didn't have as much success, if there'd be a longer leash for Kuzmin. I kind of do, yes. You know what I mean? Like, it's easy for Huska to, not easy. I get that Huska wants to have,
Starting point is 01:40:44 here's our standards, here's how we play, here's this, well, if you've got three wins when being... Exaggerated to make a point? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:52 I totally agree. You're now managing a trade asset. Yeah. They're not managing a trade asset. Huska is trying like hell to make the playoffs. And that's his job. The GM would be like, ah, geez, you know.
Starting point is 01:41:02 No, the GM won't argue yet because they are still in a playoff spot and until, but that's the whole question is if they were, way out of it is because Menko's sitting, I... If you're where Montreal is where you had
Starting point is 01:41:16 aspirations to be better than they've been and everything's gone wrong and you're just stuck in last, play the shit out of this guy. Load them with ozone face-offs and get them scoring so you can get them out of here. But they're not in that spot. They're trying to hang on to the last wild card in the West. Probably to, you know, a futile attempt,
Starting point is 01:41:33 but that's the coach's job is to try to make it happen. Yeah. And they've given himself reason to at least try for it. Yeah. So now, Kuzmanko, as you mentioned, has he had 39 goals. First year and the league
Starting point is 01:41:46 for yesterday. In 25 games this year, he has taken three or more shots in a hockey game, zero times. Really? Oh, that's not good at all. Zero, ones, and twos for a goal score. Oh.
Starting point is 01:42:04 He has not had a night with three shots on net. I'm going to look at what he's on page for, because volume's important here. shooter. Depot. What is it? Wrong sticks. Wrong sticks.
Starting point is 01:42:13 Or not enough. Depot. Anthony Manta was going to shoot 400 shots this year. Remember that? Or 500. Yeah, it was going to be amazing. So last year, because Manko had 150, you know, multiple teams. God damn it.
Starting point is 01:42:29 That screws me up. So, I mean, here's, if you're a guy who's shooting percentage is at 3% and you're not shooting the puck, yeah, you got one goal. Yeah. And look, he's a guy that was riding. on sustainable highs in Vancouver. Every fourth puck he shot went in last year. That's not sustainable. I get it.
Starting point is 01:42:47 I shouldn't sell him as a 40-goal guy, but I think a 30-goal guy would have been reasonable. He's due a ton of puck luck, but if the coach don't trust him, he ain't going to get it. I like, wait now, he's not going to be. Well, I don't think he's a four-goal score. That's who he's on pace for it. That's all I'm saying. So do you want to have a bet? I'm good.
Starting point is 01:43:07 Yeah, what are we setting the over-under at? Yeah. 10? Like, you said he's a 40 goal or 30 goal guy. No, I said he scored 39 as a rookie and he was at a 40 goal pace. No, no,
Starting point is 01:43:16 you don't get to set the bar high and then low. What I'm saying is you can say guys do for puck luck without meaning he's going to score 40. He's on pace for four goals. Yeah, I'll say this and I'm happy I'm not in it. This is a fascinating over under bet if you guys can come to an agree on another.
Starting point is 01:43:32 Oh, you won't be able to because like I think he's going to have a tough time getting to 20. 15 feels even high at this. 12 and a half. I'll do 15. 14 and a half. Okay, so how many games are left? 57 games left.
Starting point is 01:43:46 You'd be an idiot to take that. 57, so you'd have to score one out of every three, it'd be 20. That's too much. One of every four is 15. Yeah, you basically score one every four games to get to beat 15. 14 and a half. I've not even played.
Starting point is 01:44:04 Can I sell anyone on four? Look at it. He's writing it down like an auctioneer. 14 and a half. 13 a half. I need over. You need under. I'll go 13 and a half.
Starting point is 01:44:13 13 and a half. I'll do it because I like to bet. He has one goal. I'll do it because I like to bed. We need some exotic food need. Are we going for sushi? We've got a restaurant. We're going to go?
Starting point is 01:44:22 That soup place that you took. Oh, yeah. The ramen. Yeah. Right. It doesn't really include the viewers, though. The fans of the show don't really get any pay. The beauty of internet broadcasting.
Starting point is 01:44:33 You can do it from anywhere. Okay. You're going to do the show from a ramen? place why not okay delicious you're you're not getting ramen though like well no i've it's like why don't we have uh the loser put their foot in a bear trap it'll be good for the show we're like yeah but we want to go for ramen no silly goose i there should be something i understand let's hear it then you're great ideas go for soup i don't care oh he pulled i don't care but that's isn't that crazy that the line would be that all of a sudden but when
Starting point is 01:45:08 you have a over it's almost a third of a season now where the guys nothing's going for him and we're going to trade him yeah it's a return well and here's the thing if he wants to go back to shoot in 24% you can trade him but it don't look like it now does it it's getting healthy is this contingent on him staying aflame all season so here's a question sorry because what if he gets traded somewhere and then lights it up i will answer that eventually but even if he's going to score at a 24% pace If he's only taking three shots a game and hasn't yet. Less than three shots a game. You have to.
Starting point is 01:45:46 He's on pace. You really need to be accurate. He said 30 shots. He's going to get a lot of games. He's probably going to get 100 shots. He's going to get 100 shots. He's got 70 left. Okay.
Starting point is 01:45:56 You could get there then. Yeah. But no, to your point to he's got to shoot it more. Got to shoot it. Yeah. What else did you want us to answer? Well, I just want to, what if he gets traded somewhere and then they, then it's over because we don't care about the player.
Starting point is 01:46:08 but we'll still go for ramen. That's fine. It's going to play some. Or bear trap. Or we'll put bear. I feel like with the ramen, no one's. Why don't we do a mouse trap? Do we do like a spicy ramen?
Starting point is 01:46:20 Oh, yeah. Go my. There's no. There's no. There's no. All right. Well, what do you want then? I want you guys to come up with a bet where I'd be like,
Starting point is 01:46:29 oh, man, I don't want to lose that bet. Well, don't sit there and critique when you never want to bet to participate. This was your thing. You guys were talking. No, I know, but we need some good suggestions. We're not going to shave our eyebrows here. Oh, it doesn't have to be. Remember when the guy did that?
Starting point is 01:46:42 We can do the nose waxing again. Yeah, I'll do that. She's right across the street now, by the way, do you know what? Really? Yeah. Just something. Great gal. So the loser has to get their ears and nose waxed on the show.
Starting point is 01:46:55 That sounds good. There again. It's just another thing. What? It's supposed to hurt. The loser has to get a foot rub. Oh, that sounds awful. You don't think the nose things are.
Starting point is 01:47:04 We'll figure it out. But we got a bet. I don't want to. Okay. You know. The bed is in. You know what it is? You know what it is?
Starting point is 01:47:10 It's the hot flavor, the max heat at the chicken place. Even the second from the top. Down the street here? It's like Mayhor sweat. Second from the top. Whatever their gradient is, second from the top. Why second? Because the top one is like, I've done the second.
Starting point is 01:47:27 It took me hours to recover. Burn out the innards. Don't you, why second me? You're playing dumb. I know. I see him working. Oh, why is it? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:47:34 Are you in? Uh-huh. I don't question the bet. I'm not. in. I know. You and Jack have one then. Maybe we can wager,
Starting point is 01:47:44 a side wager. Bet him against the penguins. Watch. Who do you think would win, Dean? In this bet? Yeah. I think the overrunner set up.
Starting point is 01:47:55 I think it's set right. To me, it'll come down to the wire and it'll be a good watch. It'll be fascinating for all of us to sit and observe. He's the type of guy. He just has to get hot, right?
Starting point is 01:48:07 But if you're not shooting the puck, how are you going to get hot? Well, you're sitting in... Tough to get shots when you're hammering popcorn. Yeah. Steinberg has one less goal. You got Beasley announcing the starters next to you. Am I not on the starting line?
Starting point is 01:48:26 Oh, dear. Tonight's healthy scratch. Andreikosemiko. Hey, baked, bees, can I see the... Wait a minute. Damn it. I'm out again. I'll try to put the paddles to him here.
Starting point is 01:48:39 Yeah. Let's go. So Cousy's out. And Vl d'Aren, that's interesting, boys. I know you didn't like it when I said it first, but that is the first time a goalie's lost and gone back in that. You allowed a bunch against Pittsburgh. No, I didn't really have because the alternation was going to alternate.
Starting point is 01:48:57 It kind of went in. I don't think either the goalies have not been not been great. I just think you alternate until the guy's hot. That's kind of what they started the year with. Yeah. Yeah. It is interesting you give up six and go back in. That's what I mean.
Starting point is 01:49:11 But Wolf did allow four against this team less than a week ago. so you've learned your lesson maybe or do you I don't think that yeah I'm guessing our wolf has the sniffles you're like yeah well and to be fair on Vladar three of those in the power play
Starting point is 01:49:26 that's yeah but there are power plays in games and they count the same as five on fives right no I know yeah you know what I can say this husks saw the same thing we saw and he knows it's not Vladar's fault
Starting point is 01:49:43 he saw that video of Crosby. Oh, yeah, you see what's the eyes? You can't be with everyone's if he's looking like that. Yeah, it's not his fault. What are you going to do? Scared the cameraman. What you got to do? It's Sid.
Starting point is 01:49:56 Yeah. No, Sid tonight. What do you mean? Well, they don't have to worry about that. Oh. No Sid tonight in my coffee. No Sid tonight in my tea. Nope.
Starting point is 01:50:10 Have they come here yet? Yeah, I think they did. They were really in the year. Jack, did you go to that game? Burton? A third period lead. Yeah. Great game.
Starting point is 01:50:17 Which game? Pittsburgh was here and they blew a third period lead again, right? They did that on Iggy Night. Yeah, that happened. I wasn't there. You didn't go to the Penguins again? No, we talked about this, remember? Yeah, I had to do afterburner.
Starting point is 01:50:29 So, egg, man. Who? Jack? For us. It's good beer, boys. Real good beer. It's a schedule. The after burner pale ale.
Starting point is 01:50:38 Very good beer. We need to get to the Jackometer and our bets. We also want to remind you, that our top shelf elf Christmas campaign is underway. The website to go and check out all of the auction items is nationgear.ca. It's started. It's going to run for a week and a bit here by next weekend. We are going to shut things down and get all of the money and take it to closer to home.
Starting point is 01:51:04 And they, in turn, are going to buy gift cards and things for needy families in time for Christmas. So they can have Christmas. Right. Which is awesome. It is awesome. And every dollar that we get in here, every dollar is going to them. So know that. Again, nationgear.ca.
Starting point is 01:51:19 We're still working on a couple of other items that are going to come in, but there's a ton there already. Throughout the weekend. We talked about it. Some crave cupcakes in there. There's storewall. We've got, uh, I would say get your S together because the shoveler found this website.
Starting point is 01:51:34 She did a day. Oh, you're going to have some competition. It's happening. Stampedeters, flames, surge, cavalry, all have experiences up there. You can bid on. Cody Snyder, Bullbustin is in there. We're going to have some origin brewing in there.
Starting point is 01:51:48 We're going to have some love from, you know what, presenting sponsors, McLeod Law, Village Honda. They're jumping on board as well to help make this a big success. And we would love to, you know what, our buddy Greg from Bon Tonn, she's got the Tomahawk Stakes. And as he does, get to go a little bit above and beyond. Always does. Our buddy Greg Keller at Bonton meets.
Starting point is 01:52:09 He's the best. So get at the very least, go and sniff it out. See what you're, see what's there. Start strategizing. Keep checking back often because we will be updating this throughout the week. Decide when it ends. Next week. On Friday.
Starting point is 01:52:24 Next Friday. Okay. Next Friday. So you got some time. Full weeks. But you could go in there and see. I'm not sure who would look at that list and be like there's nothing there for it. But you could look at it.
Starting point is 01:52:33 I'm not sure. And then you miss something that goes on there. I'd be like, I would love that. So just do it. Out over. Nationgear.com. Nationgear.ca. com.
Starting point is 01:52:45 Do our football bets. Bet 365. is the world's largest sports betting platform. Open an account with Bet365 today, bet on a huge range of markets. Use the promo code nation when you sign up. Download that app. Get the app and then live your life.
Starting point is 01:53:00 Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365. Here's our record. Is that coming in? Oh, no, that's after. That's where we sit. Look at the separation. Two games separating us. If the wind column, 27, 25, 23, 21.
Starting point is 01:53:17 Wow. Yeah. You're welcome, boom. Friends came through for you. Yeah, that's a hell of a strategy. I went with my buddy bets. Tell us about it. Chargers, Steelers, bills, all three covered.
Starting point is 01:53:29 Gets me to 500. I thought it would have been a game over 500. Then you went one and two Thursday games. Yeah, three and all got you back to 500. I remember that from Friday. Good performance. I got forced into taking all three. Thanksgiving games.
Starting point is 01:53:45 You have free will. You can do what you like. Jack's still setting the table here. 27 and 15. I went three and three between the six. Two and one on Thanksgiving and one and two on the weekend. Atlanta. Rare slip.
Starting point is 01:54:03 Rare slip. Yeah, Atlanta. They probably could have won that game. Kirk. I don't think he counted mine right either. What do you mean? I went three and all on Thanksgiving. And then two and one on the week.
Starting point is 01:54:14 Did you go three and no one Thanksgiving? Yes. Yeah, you're right. You're 26, 15 and 1. What hell's going on here? You were 1 and 2 on Thanksgiving, were you, Jack? It's okay, Jack. Now are we, math is not our strong.
Starting point is 01:54:29 Are we sticklers for? We should get this right. You're right. You're right. I have you written down as two and one for some reason. You did go 3 and 0. So you were 26, 15, and 1. So you're one.
Starting point is 01:54:41 Jack, trying to protect his lead here. Red. It's okay. You got to stay in your toes, right? competitive. I know what was going on. I know. Everyone always. Pull the wool over old
Starting point is 01:54:50 Redskys. So which ones did you have on Thanksgiving? Yeah. All three. All three. Bears. Yeah, which didn't look good. Cowboys. Cowboys, yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:59 Backers. And then on the weekend, you had the bills, of course. Bills. Yeah. With commanders? I missed out on Washington, I think. No. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:09 Washington covered against Tennessee. No, Houston didn't. Houston that screwed us. That's right. Yeah. Yes, even with stupid Lawrence getting hurt. Stroud hasn't been the same. I'm waiting for using it going here, fellas.
Starting point is 01:55:22 That was my thing. I'm like, well, I think they're going to get going. She's still confused. Anyway. And Philly, I had that's so easy. Getting three. The other two look really hard. All right.
Starting point is 01:55:34 You stick with friends this week. We'll see. We'll see. I don't know what the lines are. Go to your app and check it out. Bet 365. Now, of course, the other thing, and this is not for Bet365,
Starting point is 01:55:44 but it's just part of when we start talking about football. Well, there's the jackometer. Jack is a temperamental fan when it comes to his Pittsburgh Steelers. When they're bad, the loss is hurt terribly. When they win, it's euphoria through the roof to the point that already this season, we broke the jackometer. Yeah, he went to the moon. We pinned it.
Starting point is 01:56:06 And then it came crashing back down to reality. However, another massive win going back to last week. Mahusive? Yeah, a mahusive win for. the Steelers. Let's take a look at the jackometer. There he is. I'm flying in space, baby. We don't even have. When do we get to the chart?
Starting point is 01:56:26 Whoa. So the win over the Ravens, but they got the Browns again. There's no nerves going into the Browns? Nah, we're at home. We'll take that one. It doesn't matter about the next game. You're talking about big division win. Russell Wilson throws 400 yards. I'm coming off the hive, a pretty fun weekend. I told RJ send me right back to the moon.
Starting point is 01:56:48 Yeah, well, you did. You had a good weekend. How was space travel? Enjoy it. It's excellent. How'd you go to the washer? You saw how happy I was. I saw that big smile.
Starting point is 01:57:00 Big toothy grin there. Look at them. Yay! Steelers! Now, I asked you last night, you didn't respond. What do you think the line is, have you seen it for next week? Because the Browns played last night, so the lines weren't out. They had to wait for that game to finish.
Starting point is 01:57:13 Cleveland against Pittsburgh. Again, I haven't looked at the line. I would imagine the Steelers are three and a half point favorites, I would guess. Pittsburgh minus six and a half. Six and a half. Okay. Home field for the Steelers. James Winston.
Starting point is 01:57:31 Jim Fitz last time. Bad weather, though. It was bad weather. You tried to pretend the weather wouldn't be a factor. Remember that? No, I didn't try to pretend that. Yeah, Ryan. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:57:43 Don't make me scour. team for that quote. The weather does not matter. The Steelers are the better team. Uh, okay. And then, uh, other friends teams, bills are where at LA? That's going to be a fun one. Indoor's. Stafford against Allen play wherever they want. Yeah, they're really good right now. The line on that one's four and a half. That seems fraudulent. They could, should be able to cover that no sweat you'd think. Chicago, but they've wrapped it up, eh? No, they're still fighting for the top. Yeah. But I don't think they care about the east right now.
Starting point is 01:58:16 They want to reel in Kansas City, who've got my chargers in Kansas City, favored by four. And the Bears in San Francisco to take on the wounded Niners. Sounds like a lot of not just Christian McCaffrey, but also Jordan Mason for at least four weeks, only five weeks left in the air. While we have it,
Starting point is 01:58:34 the Buffalo Bill's social media team, they went to work. And you hear the saying kept receipts. Yeah. And keeping receipts in that they're very, they're very aware of what. what's been said about their Buffalo Bills team over the course of the year. Right.
Starting point is 01:58:49 It's time to predict the AFC East. Bill fans, I'm not even going to attempt to lie to you. The truth is this is likely the worst season you all will have in the last five years. It's finally the Miami Dolphins time. They win the division for the first time since, well, like, 08 or something. The Jets are second. They're just more talented than the Bills. Everybody's gone.
Starting point is 01:59:09 You don't have enough talent to compete. We just don't know how great of a performance Josh Allen is going to put on with this. young, talented or not talented group of guys that we don't know. Aaron Rodgers is a better quarterback than Josh Allen. Point blank, period. Bills have run out of dogs. It's over. It's a rap.
Starting point is 01:59:30 Oh. What would the highlight reel look like if the flames made the playoffs and they went through our show? Yeah, luckily there's no way to have a catalog of that. Please don't start doing that. Yeah. fortunately once it's out there it's just gone yeah it doesn't stand in it forever that's right behind jack's spaceship that's right that's space yeah that's right rogers is better the josh allen that just is playing it simple that's a weird one that's a weird not age well odd take
Starting point is 02:00:05 like in his prime maybe like six years ago sure now what are you talking about it feels well there's lots left i guess but just watching what's what's happened because who's the MVP right now, the odds on favor. It's got to be Allen. I would guess a 365. Sakewan would be your top deal look right now. And Lamar was the guy, but I wonder if this shines off that maybe a little bit, almost not Baltimore,
Starting point is 02:00:29 I always, sorry, I don't interrupt you. Baltimore always scares me because they are extremely talented. Yeah, but the shine does come off. Josh Allen minus 250, Sequin Barkley, plus 350, Lamar Jackson plus 900. Goff is the fourth. That's all right. MVP?
Starting point is 02:00:46 Didn't you have a Josh Allen MVP tied? You had to parlayed with some dumb college basketball game or something. So amazing if that hits. No, I missed the Louisville. Because you missed on the Louisville, but you had. She's already gone. Is there. Josh Allen.
Starting point is 02:01:03 What are the odds? Plus 800. Oh, minus 250. Wow. Reds. The bills to win at all plus 12. Don't parlay those. Just.
Starting point is 02:01:12 Hello. Gorgeous. Yeah. Gorgeous. It's, it's. tough, if you're not a quarterback? Yeah. Like, what more could Seekuan do?
Starting point is 02:01:22 Not much. And Josh has been very good. Where's, uh, Hertz? Plus 6,000. So 60 to 1. Because that's the thing. If, if Hertz is, if there isn't a tush push and it's Sequin helps a bit, I think we talked about that.
Starting point is 02:01:38 Even if he, he's getting half of the touchdowns that Hertz is getting. Well, in the last three weeks have been better for Seekone. Yeah. But he just just realized he has to run them in from 50. But man, he's been. Yeah, he's been awesome. Yeah. Been real good.
Starting point is 02:01:52 Crazy. Crazy. Crazy. Let's go to the super chat, Jack. Crazy, crazy. Super chat. It means you go into the chat on the YouTube's. And as you're watching, you put a little cash in there.
Starting point is 02:02:04 It shows up. It gives us a little, wehoo, little extra account of it. It's like, look at me here. I spent some money here. $5 from Funk, 379. Oh, boy, Funker. Manan, 81 years old, watched Lanny Lift the Cup. up and she says
Starting point is 02:02:20 she'll send you three homemade knitted sweaters when the flames trade cadre. She also loves Boomer. It's a frisky one. Nann. You. Get out of here.
Starting point is 02:02:36 You all are you up? I love Nan too. Jack, she's taking this. It's going to take a lot of yarn to get a knitted sweater around my girth. Just a heads up there, man. You're going to need to get some extra. You get some laugh. I'm back or what's right.
Starting point is 02:02:51 Sheep. It's going to take a lot of knitting. But thank you, Nan. That's very nice. So when they trade cadre, we're getting three homemade. Call Connie and get this as done. We need this.
Starting point is 02:03:02 Can we get this done by Christmas? Let's go. I don't want these in March. We don't need them in March. And then we got a big one. What? Stu is in with 20 bones. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 02:03:15 Have a Gordy how pizza on me tonight. Jack, Can you pull up the menu and walk us through a great. Stu, you're the man, Stu McLeod in there with a big donation. And, of course, all the money that comes in on our super chats is going, I need to get. Use centers of Calgary. YCC. Just a great local initiative to allow a place for kids after school to go read, eat, get snacks,
Starting point is 02:03:37 a warm meal and some other great skills. There you go. And out of boy, Stu, so that's all the money that we bring in on the super chats, we are going to donate directly. What is a go ride how pizza? Ham, pineapple. Yeah, I see what he did. Back bacon and honey.
Starting point is 02:03:54 That's pretty nice. There we go. So this is now, what Stu is alluding to is that tonight we're going to be at, uh, we're going to go out. Yeah, we're going on. It's going to be live after burner.
Starting point is 02:04:05 Richmond's Pub, baby. We're going to Richmond's pub. Oh, that's a view right from where of the stages. There it is. Look at that. That's where we're going to be tonight. We're going to be doing the post game show live from Richmond. We're going to be watching the game live.
Starting point is 02:04:16 we'd like you to come by, hang out, have some wings, have some pizza. And yes, that's the, uh, oh, yeah, let's go. Look at Arkeos. I love you so much. It's wing night, Jack. Are you ready? Jack, they got dry. They got sassy.
Starting point is 02:04:29 My mouth is sweating, Jack. I need your dry and saucy wing pick right now. I'm doing all hot wings. Probably three orders. Oh, wow. A triple. A triple three orders of hot wings. I did two and how was the deal pickle?
