Starting point is 00:00:02 Yes, sir. That's how we start a Friday. Welcome to the show. I miss that song. We get into it for Bet365, official gaming partner at Barnburner, game props, player props, totals, money line, hockey, football. What a time.
Starting point is 00:00:18 College football. All in, baby. Whatever your bet is, it's never ordinary at Bet 365. Get the app. Get in in the game. And a Friday super chat. We expect big things from everybody today. Money.
Starting point is 00:00:32 that is donated in the YouTube chat, along with your comments, goes to the U-Sinters of Calgary, and then we'll put your comment on the show. We have expectations. Yep. Well, it's Faf-F-F-F-F-F-F. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:43 It's a triple-effer. Yep. I know one guy who is locked and loaded, dialed in, pedal to the metal, ready for the weekend. Jack. Go get him, Jackie.
Starting point is 00:00:56 It's not, Jackie. No. Not me. Boom, now you have a nice weekend plan, but I don't feel like your engines, uh, I think he's frustrated. I think he's fighting it.
Starting point is 00:01:06 No. He's going to be fine. Well, he cares so much. That's the thing. He cares so. He's a professional. He wants to be operating. He has a high standard living.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Do you remember the old-timey circuses? We're guys that put like a helmet on and get shot out of a cannon. Yeah. That's right today. Yeah, you're the evil of the evil of Barnburner today. I'm trying to keep you. What is that noisy? It's static on that side.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Excellent. I'm trying to keep you guys lighthearted. I walk in. kicking computers and you're freaking out. I can hear the Cairns and the and he's drunk. Am I drunk?
Starting point is 00:01:41 Yes. That'd be great. Always. Every flat fuck Friday. You fucking. And it's a nice thing for me. That guy in the other room. You and Cabby.
Starting point is 00:01:56 We are getting tight. Hick's theeps. I'm sharing with it. Really? Yep. Oh, is yelling about something. The pre-show brought to you by McLeodlaw. Indeed.
Starting point is 00:02:08 MacLeod-Dashlaw.com. You can find them on social medias at McLeodlaw, LLP. They have a couple locations. They're easy to find. Beautiful spot downtown. They are Calgary through and through. Proud of their Calgary roots, a big part of their longstanding client relationships.
Starting point is 00:02:25 They understand our city, the people in it and the way things work and like the community, buried, diverse, proud. Mm-hmm. and hardworking and good at what they do. McLeod Law Studios here on a Friday. Remember that January when I was bleating like a goat? Yes.
Starting point is 00:02:41 A few January's ago. Oh, it's a while back. Yeah. It was very depressing and gray and dark. Are you in that? I feel way bit better. We were talking about the other day, whatever you've done in your life the last six months.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Like, Rhett has been first star of the show a lot. He's kind of like Dustin Wolf. Like if he's going to get first star, you're going to have a hell of the show. You know what? It is. It's old age. Yeah. You get grumpy enough.
Starting point is 00:03:07 You just say the shit you want. I was going to say, you get to that point where you just kind of Whole Mandeway. Yeah. The give a fuck goes to zero and you're left. It's not because I don't care. This is who I am. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Like those idiots at City Hall, we should, everyone in Calgary should walk there. Their fucking pensions should be gone. Sorry. You failed. And you're screwing us. No pension. That's how I feel.
Starting point is 00:03:31 I'm going to feel for, poor Glenn who came in and changed my water movie the other day. He was quite polite. He took his shoes off. It's not Glenn's fault. He's not part of City Hall. It's the City Hall losers that are doing it. Okay. Dumb asses. What is it about City Hall specifically this morning that has you, uh, those poor pricks
Starting point is 00:03:46 up in the North here can't get any water. Right. That's a water main. People are nearly dying, driving home on freaking leaving wind sport and you're in a fucking tsunami. Say sorry to the kids for sworn. I'm not saying sorry. Kids, you need to pay attention. These politicians can't be trusted. How's our kid fund for Rhett Suarez?
Starting point is 00:04:08 You know what? You got a Hyundai? You got a Hondo? You got a crisp brown one for the kids? I got some. Receipts? That's not going to do it. Jack, this is that doctor. I want you to.
Starting point is 00:04:18 That's a red one. Where? There's 50. Oh, it's a red one. Look at this kids. That's for the kids. I expect him to be cursed like a sailor. Who is that guy?
Starting point is 00:04:35 We don't know where that's going. That's a different... We have the youth centers. We have... George and the home. Jack's Monday night's dealers. We can find a difference... That's our food budget for Monday.
Starting point is 00:04:45 That's right. We find a different... It's feed the mighty cause. Who is this mayor? The swear jar. Who knows? To this man here. Is that Johnny?
Starting point is 00:04:52 I wish I could have hundreds, but I can only get halfway there. No, I don't know. Oh, is it Lloyd? Lloyd, uh, Bill Trellicker. Lloyd Robertson, CTV News. Oh, yeah. was great.
Starting point is 00:05:03 That's a media guy you could have trust. Yep. Like to me. Well, Drager coming up. It is Friday
Starting point is 00:05:11 on the Crystal Waters plumbing and heating inside of the flat fuck. So he, Jack's liking it. No one else. I know he is. I like it.
Starting point is 00:05:20 He just wants to get out of here. You need the mountains. Your attitude. Mine is good. Yours is shit. No, I don't. You were like this for BCE. I expected a bigger crater.
Starting point is 00:05:33 We knew there was going to be one. It's like the whole... That's because we've carried them. I don't feel it's a crater. I just think I've kind of leveled off a little bit. Level off. The Rock was just... I was trying to edit.
Starting point is 00:05:44 China Rocket would run your ass out of this studio. You've got to bring the energy. Yeah, boom. You're going to need... Why don't you take Friday? Get a little vacant and recharge. Energy's good. Okay, good.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Big weekend. You know what it is? intimidated because he's going on. I'm having a hard time with these. these losses are piling up. Oh, these stunning, surprising losses. You're such a J-E-T-E fan. Eleven in a row?
Starting point is 00:06:08 That's gotta be hard on you, Manitobans. You guys drink enough and now you're going to drink more. I sat here yesterday, and you guys are like, I don't like that. No, flames win tonight. Flames are going to win. That was my fear. It did not come to fruition.
Starting point is 00:06:22 I had no fear, and you lied through your teeth when you said that. There was no internal. Well, I honestly, I thought, I guess I didn't think it through having now watch the game. It's kind of like your football picks. You overthought it maybe. So what has happened because they were, and I guess maybe they were at home,
Starting point is 00:06:44 but they were playing very well. And then the calendar flipped and it's four straight losses. Now, could they have gotten a point at least against Nashville? Yeah, but maybe. But good against Seattle midway through? Didn't end up close? Halfway, the Seattle, then it ends up.
Starting point is 00:06:58 five one. But the last two, they've been out class. They've been outworked and they're tired. The back to back is tough. And they're not as good. They need a lot to go right to win. We said that.
Starting point is 00:07:11 So when it, when it does happen, it's quite impressive because they need everyone. All four lines. Goley. All the D. Work. Great work ethic.
Starting point is 00:07:19 You have to have the best discipline. But they did that for about a month. Which is awesome. Impressive. They did it for six months last year. But it's not like the goalie is the same. There's no injuries. There's no.
Starting point is 00:07:28 It's gone from winning 7 of 10 to losing 4 straight. It only makes clear the fact that you're not good enough to have even average night and have success. It was the same guys who were in the jersey as in October 2. Like it's volatile. You're going to have runs both ways. And that's why I just wasn't buying this team being close. You don't have Macklin-Cellibrini against the Kings deciding, oh, I'm going to tie it up and then win it in OT. All the things we talked about in October are still true.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Ret was always saying, who's on the whiteboard of the opposing team? Who are they circling? There's no one to circle that skates for this team. Maybe clap can out, but only because you don't want to get hit by them. And even that's not. Even that, it's, yeah. It's like the goalie. If you're, if you can get to Wolf, you're going to win.
Starting point is 00:08:10 And I don't even, I mean, I'm in minded Wolf. He's clearly tired, but he's playing his ass off. Yeah, Wolf's been fine. Get like the other guy. Like, how have their stars been over this skit? What's, who's a star? Well, I'll just start with salaries because they don't have any stars. But guys getting paid like stars.
Starting point is 00:08:25 How have they been? Shit. Yeah. And we said it last week. Awesome. Coleman, back. Unbelievable. Why are your ancient farts leading you?
Starting point is 00:08:34 Your third line checking line is your two best forwards. Go get them. Yeah, it's four in a row. They've been outscored, what, 17-6 in the four-game slide? Well, and on the road, I think it's 19 to four over their last four road games. Like, it's been bad, too. And that's, and the other, like you say, the goalie, looks,
Starting point is 00:08:57 the goalie looks tired. Really? Like it, and I know Huska said, well, ideally we'd like to have seen this gone another way, which,
Starting point is 00:09:05 you know, tongue and shake is like, well, you're the coach, but there has been, they don't have options in that right now. Cooley's sick.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Cooley's sick. Codney's sick. Take care of yourself for Christsakes. Just phone me. I got the doctors. That's right. Right here. Can you give us a quick diagnosis
Starting point is 00:09:17 for Cooley? What he used to be doing? What's the, what do you hit them with? You know what? Jamie McClendid had a broken sternum and stood in the net and stop the puck.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Oh, I've got to cough. I don't know how to cough. That's what it is. Now, let's say he comes into Dr. Rett's office. Coach, doctor, I'm not feeling it. Ivy's high dose vitamin C, maybe some light therapy. What are we talking? Grounding math.
Starting point is 00:09:41 It's easy. Yeah, just turn it around. How about some of that ivermectin stuff, the old wormwood killer? Okay, give them that. Yeah, I'll get your back in the game. Cooley has started two of the last. 16 games. Should have about four probably.
Starting point is 00:09:59 He was going to go Seattle and he would have played one of the back to back. Wasn't Seattle like a month ago? Like what do we talk? How long are you sick for these days? Cool he is allowed. And the thing was he was playing well and then earned some more starts and then has allowed three or more in four of his last five starts. So that's not ideal either.
Starting point is 00:10:19 See, this is when you start winning and you ride the number one and he plays well. Seattle was Monday. Yeah, that was, but they did play recently prior to that. We've played a few since. Anyway, 4-1 is the loss. The offense, power play continues. It's the worst power play in there is. Dry to popcorn fart, Dino.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Dyer to popcorn fart. Dry is not good. Don't want dry. Codry, one point now in his last nine games. Can't trade him. Backland's run is over. Coleman plays nine minutes, 55 seconds. He lands on his, well, took us.
Starting point is 00:10:59 No, it looked like he got wrestled to the ice by Mason Lurai, I believe it was. That's right. They got in the old strongman competition. Who could bend who at center ice? Lans at his shoulder, comes back for a couple shifts in the second, leaves, obviously for the intermission. I think he had two shifts in the third before leaving for the night. So that's not great.
Starting point is 00:11:18 They use the term precautionary after the game, which is better than out. Which, and again, I think at this time, it's like, oh, yeah, yeah, You just assume that they're full of shit. But they're down in this hockey game. They're on a road trip. Second and as many nights. There's no need for Coleman to come back. Just go get some hot water on it or whatever you need to do.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Usually, you don't pour hot water on it? Okay. Scaldia. I did that in Florida during the COVID. Too much hot water? I took one of those noodles with the, like a penny. Oh, it had boiling water in it when I tested. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Yeah. Ouch. Yeah, you got to be careful. You got to be careful. So that's... I don't think we should talk about this team right now. I think we should talk about you and the mountains. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:11 What do you get a drink? I mean, like, just to put a ball in flames, like, is there anything that we need to talk with today that we didn't talk yesterday? I'm good. Like, they're not good enough. They need to sell. Whether they're comfortable saying it out loud or not, they have to sell. I would only think they get to.
Starting point is 00:12:24 more clear that when a guy like Coleman, one of your trade chips, whether you want to admit it or not, is now out. It reminds you the risk involved of carrying a free agent without moving. We've got to keep the core together here. We got a great. Is this the same core, a really good one? It's the hashtag winning culture.
Starting point is 00:12:47 You know what's nice about today? Is it a couple weeks ago, I'm like, Jesus. I'm kind of eat crow here a little bit. Like a real jackass. Yeah, Domo the Poho is not looking as smart. I feel no need to apologize anymore. Yeah, is he going to come in and say, well, back. Come in, hey, boom, hey.
Starting point is 00:13:06 You had a great man. Old guy with the boofy hair, didn't know what that. Hey, you were right, big boy. Probably not. If he wants to, we'd be open to it. Open door policy here. Anyone wants to talk to us. We love to talk.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Or he wants to come in and come hanging the trust to us. Can I tell you something I'm not proud of? What did you do? I don't even know if I want to share this. I think you do. You're on a roll today. It's Friday. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:13:28 I was at the ring a couple weeks ago. And I saw, how do you refer to? Don't Mo the Povo? Yeah. He was coming up some stairs and we were kind of going to meet and I had to U-turner. Oh. Yeah, I'm just going to go back into the washer. I didn't get my watch in the toilet.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Ah, got to go. What it was. Big talker sitting in. Lord of Louvre. Oh, I do. I'll give me a piece of my mind. He's here. Hi.
Starting point is 00:14:05 There's two things that still just get it. They stick in your crowd? Yeah, you get some cross stickers. Let's hear it. We don't like things sticking a Dean's crock because then it trickles down to us. You know how trickle. It's always downhill. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:16 We're below it because he's the boss. No trickle up. So, let's start here. And it's not that it sticks. It's just, oh, you can't be cheering for the, you know, this plant. You know, playoffs. Oh, you're good.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Say, oh, you guys are negative. You guys aren't fans. You guys, whatever you guys. And again, it's the same messaging. And not that it has any more resonance, resonance to it. But I just feel like sometimes when you're in your backyard, your ferocos knee, kind of look over the fence and see, oh, I heard the neighbors were talking.
Starting point is 00:14:47 This was, and we're going to talk to Drager right away, but this was the guys on overdrive, TSN afternoon radio. Radio is still on the air or something, apparently. Radio, radio. I remember them. What is that? And they were talking about, you. the Leafs, of course, should they be by and what teams are buy and selling and they were just getting into who might be available?
Starting point is 00:15:06 And as you might expect, Pierre LeBron brings it back around to the Calgary Flames. The team that I think is in jeopardy of making a mistake here if they're not real with themselves is the Calgary Flames. They've got to be real. They're not making the playoffs. And I know there's always pressure from ownership there to stay competitive and not give up on. years. No man's land is the killer in this league, to your point old dog. And they've got to be real and they got to start listening on some of their veterans. They have an opportunity. There's not a lot of sellers. They have an opportunity to cash in with some of their veteran players.
Starting point is 00:15:43 No man's land. That's a new one. I like it. And I would think that Pierre's dialed in. I have no clue. I've never spoke with him. But it feels like this is what he does. He's inside. To me, that sounds like he's had feedback from some other people in the game that maybe they ain't listening down at Saddle Dome Rise Way. Or if they're weighing options. It makes me freak the what do you mean? That's no, you're putting, you know what that is? You spun it
Starting point is 00:16:08 into the opposite of what I'm trying to say. Continue, go ahead. I'm saying it sure sounds, I'm reading tea leaves that Pierre LeBron is hearing from other GMs that the flames aren't really interested and they're not really listening on that's, that's my takeaway.
Starting point is 00:16:26 That's your fear. The team that, that's what he said, Fear, that's what he's saying. Listen to what he said. I did hear what he said, yeah. But you're not picking up what he. He said the, you know, the team that has, they could really screw this up. If they don't. They better wake up.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Yeah. Because the country claims meaning, come around to a different way of thinking. Figure shit out fast. Right. I'm with you. I'm not arguing. Because you're in no, you're not making the playoffs. No man's land, which is where you've been living.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Yeah. Which is why he's, oh, Blake Coleman, this could hurt if he's, I, I still don't think There was any real thought of, well, we can't trade Blake Coleman. He's got a year left, his contract. And that's the vibe I'm picking up from Pierre is that the people phone in the flames on these guys are getting the response of. We're not sure yet. Yeah. We're not.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Why are you making this excuse for these? I don't make any excuse for these. Dumbass. We've been talking with three years about rebuilding and turning it down. They could have gotten an absolute hall for Rasmus. So when is the fucking light go off down there? Don't know. I'm not in there.
Starting point is 00:17:24 I don't know what the conversations are. It sounds like you don't want to talk about it. No, like, we've had this conversation a thousand times. So it's not a conversation. I am afraid of what you guys are talking about, but we don't know what they are and aren't going to do. So we're shutting the conversation down. It's fine because we talked about it.
Starting point is 00:17:41 Let's do the confidence ball around there. Are you confident they're going to trade Rasmus? Yes or no? I said yesterday they're going to drive. The car has been driven into the ditch and the cop has just taken away the keys. Well, it's like I said, yeah, I feel like losing the more losses it takes the keys away. Yeah. And they're just, they're going to have.
Starting point is 00:17:57 just why I'm less concerned about it, but like the real fear was a week ago they were what, a point out, that's scary. Because then those guys can talk themselves into winning culture, re-biggled bullshit terminology. They're bad. I believe they're bad. I have confidence they're going to be so bad that it's going to be in their face that they can't ignore it. The problem here is, and again, I just, we know they're getting calls on Blake Coleman. They're not getting any traction because the flames are not interested in making a trade for Blake That's what drives me crazy. It's not the, oh, what do they say?
Starting point is 00:18:35 If Pierre LeBron says there's a lot of chatter and a lot of interest and there's a lot going, I don't know how you'd word it on some of the flames. Keep your eyes on Calgary. Yes. There's a lot of calls and the flames are, that's not what he's saying. He's saying the opposite. He's saying, there's no traction because the flames ain't responding. Yeah, he's saying, hello, fellas, don't screw this up.
Starting point is 00:18:57 The door's closed. look in the mirror, acknowledge what you are. He's not, but you're, I don't know why I have to, it probably doesn't matter and we're probably ending up at the same spot. But to me, you're taking it differently than what I am. And we got dregs in three minutes. Like we, we,
Starting point is 00:19:12 we're trying to, like, he's going to know what the appetite is. I have confidence they will move two of the three guys at a minimum when I, and Anderson, Coleman, and Codry. But I have great fears that they will only do one and zero would be a,
Starting point is 00:19:28 Chernobyl level disaster. So that's where I'm at. And yeah, like, it is a huge problem if the cover flames don't sell Blake Coleman. But when they were appointed out a week ago, they're not a huge problem that they're not even talking to teams that this might be a reality and they should be approaching it differently. It's not a problem for you?
Starting point is 00:19:47 They aren't talking about Blakeless. That's what it sounds like Pierre is saying. It does sound like he's indicating that might be the case. I mean, dregs will have Intel too. I'm sure we continue to hear they get lots of calls. Pierre Lebronis. No, no, I think Pierre's great. It's just that if we get really focused on terminology,
Starting point is 00:20:02 sometimes we miss the point that's trying to be made. Like, they need to sell is what Pierre's saying. And they still have until March 6th to do that. You don't have to trade Blake Coleman this week. I just didn't, I don't hear it. We're getting different things from the same clip, which it's fine. It was a 40-second clip.
Starting point is 00:20:21 It just sounded to me like, it was like, I don't know what's going on in Calgary. they've got some players here that they could they're not taking the playoffs a team that needs to wake up right now yeah which again just leds me to leave maybe he's talked to some people like yeah we talked like it just doesn't sound like there's any appetite to make trades in calgary and if you'd call it a week ago and their point out of the playoffs i get that if you're calling in february and their way out that's going to be a huge problem because again like it's not like the deadlines next tuesday and it's like they're going to screw this is they've got time to sell all right don't talk about it's not about it. I'm having to talk about it. It's just, it's really tough to know what's going on behind the scenes. We can only sort of parse through little details we get, right? The one reason
Starting point is 00:21:07 that I look at it today specifically is Coleman got hurt last night potentially. And even Rasmus Anderson was kind of hobbling around. He's taking shots off the hand, off the foot, all of this. It's just, it got the other night, right? It makes it tough when they're on the fence, we're taking the wait and see
Starting point is 00:21:23 with guys who are playing 20 and nights. Playing the most minutes on your team. Frustrating. It is. You wish they could be adults and treat the fan base like adults and acknowledge what they are. That whole Don Maloney thing seems so, I was just one bad interview. But it really was one of the worst things that's happened to this organization in the last six months because it allowed fans to look at the organization to say,
Starting point is 00:21:59 do these idiots know what the hell's going on? It completely deteriorated the faith in the organization. Because when you hear Connie talk, it's like prospects, upcoming draft picks, you know, we're building the system, younger players, turning over the roster. And everyone's on side with that. Everyone in this city is like, this team isn't good enough,
Starting point is 00:22:19 even if they did have a horseshoe up their ass and they snuck in. Everyone knows they need to rebuild. And that one interview screwed up everyone's confidence in this front office. office. Well, they could have just listened to us prior to the couple. I just don't have that kind of conversation. So that's what the fans perceive. I, I, it's not about, I take, I'm kind of done talking about the interview because it was what, you know, whatever.
Starting point is 00:22:49 I still don't think that takes away from the bigger issue, which is I don't think the owner wants to, wants to make these trades. I don't think those guys that are running things down. That's Saddle Dome Rize Way are on the same page. I think there's too many cooks. Could be. Yeah, like we don't know. You're just being weird today about this. I don't get it.
Starting point is 00:23:12 That's a fear. I do fear that. I fear that Connie wants to take this thing a certain direction and he won't be able to do it. But geez, like, how in the world could we know what those conversations are like? That's why we get Dragger on the show every week, right? That's also why we're on the show is to discuss these things.
Starting point is 00:23:29 it is a little odd. I'm sorry. It's the contrarian in you. Yeah, it's like you won't. You do have to go take the other side, which is great for the show, but it's kind of anti-pinder of you. Whereas before it was,
Starting point is 00:23:45 like it's wait till the deadline. Don't wait till the deadline if you, like it changes. If they don't sell guys of the deadline, it'll be hellfire. So you're all calm and cool. I think you're going to trade bunch of guys. It's boring.
Starting point is 00:23:57 No, it's not boring. It's, it's, it's. You're boring. boring because you don't have a, it's so, you know, we don't know what's going on. You know what's fucking boring is this hockey team. I've watched for most of this season, most of the minutes, and there's no skill. They're not good enough. The rocket wouldn't be happy with you either now. You've, now the rocket's on your ass. Well, both of you or luckily we got the big boy in the middle of someone. Does he know the rocket? Uh, it's, yeah, it's her.
Starting point is 00:24:21 To the insider hotline, we go, a presentation of crystal waters plumbing and heating. Home comfort. Do you like home comfort? That's what it's all about. nice and cool air when it's hot, warm air when it's cold, hot water when you need it. Crystal Waters is here for you. If you're a Barnburner fan, you watch the show, a little love maybe for you. If you mentioned Barnburner,
Starting point is 00:24:40 of course they got the garage heaters going. It's now basically 24 years of experience, 30 plus thousand jobs completed, and they are the very best. When something goes sideways, the first thing that pops into your mind is Crystal Waters. Crystal Clearcallagery.com, 403, 219, 4,100. To the insider hotline.
Starting point is 00:24:59 let me go and say hello to TSN Hockey Insider, Darren Draker. Hello, Drugs. Hey, gentlemen, how are we doing today? Good. You know, we'll jump right in. Usually we like to kind of, hey, you know, kind of give each other a little frisket. Well, I mean, you guys are all decorated journalists, so let's his generate to do it. A biased internet hacks is what we determined we were.
Starting point is 00:25:20 Decorated. Great word. I like that. We actually, again, we have some decorated journalists. We played the clip from Overdrive with you and Pierre and the old dog. talking about, of course, we're starting with the leaves, but then as well, the teams are selling and this and that. And it was kind
Starting point is 00:25:35 of Pierre's tone, which is a little un-Pierre-esque, and I like it. He was like, the team that probably needs to wake up here is the Calgary Flames. I mean, they're in no man's land. They're not making the playoffs. They don't want to miss out on trading some valuable veterans here. What's, if a
Starting point is 00:25:51 general manager were to call Craig Conroy today and ask about the availability of Blake Coleman, what kind of feedback do you think he's getting from Connie? Make an offer, right? And, you know, he would likely speak on what the parameters of that offer need to be so that no one's time is wasted in the process.
Starting point is 00:26:11 And to be truthful, I don't know that, you know, anyone outside of the Calgary Flames would know what moves the needle, which gets their interest. You know, reason at this point. And, you know, even though the window is closing between now and the next roster freeze, which is the Olympics on February 4th, you know, You know, and then you've got a 12-day period between the lifting of that roster freeze and the March 6 trade deadline. I mean, you're still talking about a condensed period.
Starting point is 00:26:39 So if you're Craig Conroy and you've got teams and off top my head, I think Pierre was connecting Calgary in Montreal, was he not? And the interest that maybe the Montreal Canadians would have in Blake Coleman. If I'm Craig Conroy, I'm like, okay, yeah, just make me an offer. here's what I feel like I need. So bring a package to me and let's go from there. And then you assess it as a management group and you decide whether or not that offer is good enough to move a piece at this point. Or if you think that it's going to get better between now and February 4th or even better after the freeze lifts prior to the deadline.
Starting point is 00:27:19 Are you concerned that they're going to sit on these assets and not move them? Like, are you concerned that they don't believe they need to rebuild? No, because it doesn't. doesn't matter to me one way or another. If they rebuild or they don't wait a so I'm not concerned. And I'm not being in a hole. I just look, so many teams are looking for defense centers and secondary depth scoring, right? So if we're talking about the three principal assets here, and I'm sure there are other pieces that Conroy has to be willing to talk about, you're talking about Rasmus Anderson.
Starting point is 00:27:55 What does that deal look like? You know, are you dealing on a rental basis, does it get considerably sweeter? If there's an extension, okay, two different conversations. You're talking about Blake Coleman, who we know is a piece that is or will be in play. What does that deal look like? And then we're talking about Nazim Khadri. And what I talked about on insider trading was the openness of Nazim Khadri at this point to go, all right, well, if you bring a top contender to me, and he doesn't have the full trade coverage, but are you bringing a contender to me? Yeah. I'm 35.
Starting point is 00:28:30 You know, my goal now is to try and win a Stanley Cup. You're going to get his attention. But he likes Calgary. He's not asking for a trade. He's not pressuring anybody. So that's the tricky part of being a manager, to be fair. You know, look, go to Vancouver and the Quinn Hughes blockbuster to the Minnesota Wild. You know, Vancouver with Jim Rutherford and Patrick Galveen,
Starting point is 00:28:53 just made an educated call that the interest and, And the trade value in Queen Hughes was not going to get better than the package they got for him at the time they made the deal, right? So that's why Craig Conroy has paid the big bucks. So if he feels like there's a deal for Blake Coleman from Montreal or another team or a deal that makes sense on Anderson or a deal to a top contender for Cadre that makes sense, well, it doesn't matter if we're talking about it in early mid-January or if we're talking about it coming out of the Olympic freeze. He's got to make that call. But given what I know about the market, and again, I go back to Vancouver because of Kiefer Sherwood, you know, Vancouver's a bit confused that there's a level of interest in Sherwood,
Starting point is 00:29:37 but the offers aren't as good as they would like or need them to me to need them to be to make that trade right now. And that probably applies to the players that we're looking at in Calgary as well. Yeah, if you get two months left or whatever it is, are you giving your best offer now? Parts of it. Try to get them for a little less. Well, I mean, there's a couple of ways of looking at that. I mean, are you a cap team? You know, because it does have to be money in, money out, right?
Starting point is 00:30:06 So that's where you start. And most of the contending teams are cap teams. Is there value in having that player come in well in advance of the March 6th trade deadline? There is for me. You know, Rhett will tell you, you know, some of these guys have families, and it's not easy to make. that transition. You get the call on March 6. If you have trade protection, hey, Team X would like you. Are you willing to wave? Well, geez, I'd really like to talk to my wife. You know, when was the, this just reminds me as we're having this conversation. Remind me, is it last year for Tyler DeFoli or the year before, I think it was, when Tyler DeFoli got traded from San Jose to Winnipeg, right? Oh, no, sorry, from New Jersey. New Jersey to Winnipeg. He had no trade protection.
Starting point is 00:30:56 But there was a point in that trade after the two managers had concluded. They'd agreed on the deal. The deal was going down where Tafoli, he was okay with it, but it didn't sound like his wife loved the idea. The family wasn't entirely in tune with the move to Winnipeg. And there was concern as to whether or not that deal was going to happen, whether it was going to go through. Well, it had to go through.
Starting point is 00:31:24 There's zero trade protection. You know, so I guess what I'm doing is emphasizing the point that sometimes it's better off for the player and his circumstance for that trade to happen earlier in the year. But not very often does it coincide with the team that's acquiring you feeling like they're getting a fair value deal. And you're getting the player earlier. Normally you've got to step up and overpay to get that player. It's now, what, 11 straight losses in Winnipeg.
Starting point is 00:31:52 They had a 3-1 lead late in the second. They give up McDavid goal before the third. the break and then a couple more to lose in regulation. I watched the Arneill Presser last night just to just to see, you know, and obviously he's frustrated and is, you know, he hasn't shaved, has got the furnace face going, he's all red and it's, it feels like, and I don't know, I don't know who comes in and replaces, but it kind of has that feel like, almost like Edmonton when they were in that tail scout a couple years ago to start the season.
Starting point is 00:32:24 It's like, well, we just, we're going to, we need to do something. And I guess it worked. It feels like the Jets have to do something. Yeah. But for me, it feels more like a trade. And how significant a deal are we talking about here? You know, shovel day off in his midseason availability talked about wanting to add scoring. Okay, well, what are we talking about?
Starting point is 00:32:44 Because any scorer in the NHL with term left, and Winnipeg really isn't interested in rentals, they want a player with term. when a productive forward isn't likely being traded, who's got term remaining on his contract. So a lot of teams, including Winnipeg, have either just gone through, they're going into their pro and amateur scouting meetings. And they would have whiteboards all over those boardrooms
Starting point is 00:33:06 with names from every team in the league. Could this be a possibility? Scouting staff, what do you think? Find me a young up-and-coming player that maybe hasn't quite popped yet and needs a fresh start. Like his egress as an example, right? You know, he goes from Anaheim to Philadelphia, and Rick Tocke, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:27 clearly is getting what he needs from Trevor Zegris. And there's a willingness from Zegris perspective to learn how to be a better player than he was in Anaheim. I think that that's really what Winnipeg is looking at before they're lucky at axing Scott Arneal. You know, he's got a bit of term left on his deal. The general manager shoveled a off. He has term left on his deal. he's too good to get rid of shovel day off's done a good job there i don't he has done a good job president's trophy last year man it's crazy what's so what we talked about then you know we're talking
Starting point is 00:34:00 about trying to improve the roster and that's where it gets really dangerous and tricky because if you're looking to add a piece that's going to matter who's in that deal Logan stanley is there another younger piece like i you know what i'm saying right i know exactly what you're saying but my keep throwing forward first round draft picks out there. My response to you is what I told if Shevoldeoff cared what I thought. It'd be like, the same thing I said to you about Bill Zito.
Starting point is 00:34:30 Yeah. Don't do anything. So, yeah. This is not your year. Like, you're at 35 points right now. Yeah. You need 60, what you need? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:41 58 points the rest of the way? And again, the silver lining is, oh, shoot, we had an alpha year. Go pick in the top five. That would help them a lot. You get a Fairhoff or like, Stenberg, Mechaner, like, that's the, that's the fix. So you guys get another draft pick the other way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:59 And I honestly, based on the players that I'm seeing play, you know, they're testing. They're maybe not doing enough to keep the media and the market comfortable in Winnipeg. They are looking at the Manitoba Moose. And you're seeing players come into the equation now at the expense of older guys. You think Nino Nita Ryder is happy that he's been a healthy scratch? He's pissed. You know, he is.
Starting point is 00:35:21 But that's a veteran player who doesn't feel like it's fair. And that's not the right approach. Gus Nyquist, not happy. He hasn't scored a goal. He's got zero goals for win a bet. Luke Chen is another one. Like these are, like Luke Chen to me is a tradable commodity. You know, you're going to get him for a deeper draft pick, right?
Starting point is 00:35:43 You know, he's slow, but he's still got a level of toughness. He still can defend. And there's a team that will have interest in Luke Chen. For me, that's what I'd be doing, Red. I wouldn't be trying to do anything drastic, but I'd be moving out some of these older pieces and trying to figure out what you have. Like Brad Lambert has wanted out of Winnipeg reportedly all year long.
Starting point is 00:36:05 I mean, he's got pace. This kid can skate. He obviously doesn't fit the eye of Scott Arneill, or he'd be playing in the National Hockey League. Billy Honola, like go down the list. So I think that's probably more of the direction we're going to see Winnipeg going in. is making sure they know what they have and what they don't have in these young guys.
Starting point is 00:36:21 I just, we looked at it because the flames said Montreal two nights ago, they're the youngest team in the league. And while I was looking at how young the flame, was like, oh shit, Winnipeg is the oldest team in the league. Oldest team.
Starting point is 00:36:30 And if you tell me that they're playing slow and they're not going to get a Vezna season from Hallibuck and they've only got three guys that are scoring, everyone else having dealt like, yeah, they need to be younger. Agreed. And again, the tricky part is how do you do that?
Starting point is 00:36:44 You stand, Pat. You don't trade your pick away. I think maybe I've told this story, but it goes back to the Eric Stahl draft in Carolina eons ago, right? Paul Maurice told the story, but he was head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes at the time. Jim Rutherford was the GM.
Starting point is 00:37:00 They had an okay start to the year, but things started to trend downward. And by the midpoint of the season, January 1st, you know, I think they were out of the playoffs at that point. And Rutherford literally went to his head coach, Maurice, and said, sorry, man, you're not getting any help. there there there there's this kid stall that I've got my eye on and if we've got a shot at drafting this guy we're drafting that guy so I'm not making any trades to make this team better and if I do
Starting point is 00:37:29 make trades it's because I'm positioning us to make sure like Winnipeg is going to be a lottery team right they're going to be a lottery first this is where the GM hat gets fun to have on and I'm I was just going to say And spoiler alert, they did get stall, and then they won a Stanley Cup. If you want to know how that story. If you want to know how that story. When you look at the bottom of the standings in the NHL, it's all Western Conference teams. Wow. And this is the concern as a fan of the Calgary Flames where you can push paws and you can kick the can down the road.
Starting point is 00:38:07 But what happens if Winnipeg trades someone and to the team you think you're going to move a guy to and now you're getting peanuts? and now they drop further and they get McKenna or like Vancouver and Winnipeg are positioned to get two high picks and who's the other team that's right there too like you're talking about teams that you're going to have to play down the road that could position themselves better like wow that's a huge gamble I know St. Louis Doug Armstrong man he's an old gunslinger right and
Starting point is 00:38:42 you know Robert Thomas's name has been out there for a while. Well, why is it out there again more recently? It's because Army's got the bait on the end of the line, and he's not fishing for just a middle of the road sort of return. No, he's looking for a team that is maybe overachieving a little bit or feels like, okay, we're a playoff team, but a piece like that is going to really give us a push, especially in the east.
Starting point is 00:39:12 That's what he's fishing for. a return that includes probably a couple of prospects or a high pick, right? And so far, nobody is biting on that. But that's why you do it. And another part of the reason why you do it, yes, it's because of everything you just said. But Doug Armstrong is smart enough to look at the Western Conference and go, well, even if we write the ship here, there's no bloody way we're going to beat the Colorado Avalanche or the Dallas stars. And we're probably not going to do well against Minnesota, to name but a few.
Starting point is 00:39:44 So what are we doing here? You know, it may not be a full rebuild, but let's move out some pieces that have proven that they're okay players, but they haven't proven anything that they're going to lead us into a deep possession. So let's cut bait. And that's what he's doing. McDavid. McIntyny.
Starting point is 00:40:03 Baudard. Celebrini. Who else is out here? That's good players. Anaheim has some stars. Like, look like they're going to be all right. You've got some superstars.
Starting point is 00:40:14 You got to get. get to the Dallas stars organized Minnesota, Capriso, if you, like, oh, yeah, let's, whoa, whoa, we get in. There's a channel. Dallas is going to be a player here, right, by a trade. I mean, you know. Is it getting money? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Yeah. And everybody. You know, Dallas is like Vegas, like Colorado, like everybody wants to go there. So even the players that we don't even know we're going to be available to the full trade protection. Hey, we got a call. and Dallas is interested. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:40:47 Yeah, bags are packed. Let's go. I don't have, I would be a terrible GM apparently because I'd be like, I'm not going to sit here and wait this out and hope that it comes to me.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Like, I'll be damned if I'm not getting something in return. You're not wrong, Red, but, you know, there has to be a partner in that process, right? You know, you're not trading Rasmus Anderson for a first
Starting point is 00:41:14 round draft back. You got to get more. You know, whatever that looks, especially if there's an extension that's attached to it. You know, NAS,
Starting point is 00:41:23 we could have a conversation on. The Rasmus Anderson one to me is almost easier because here's my thoughts with Anderson. I think they should have traded him last year. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. If you can't get what you want for Rasmus Anderson, turn around to pay him. Turn around to pay him.
Starting point is 00:41:39 He doesn't hate Calgary. He's not begging to get out of here. Overpay him. No. pay him and keep him. But I think he's resigned to the fact he's leaving. Yeah, that's fine. But you're only leaving if, and you,
Starting point is 00:41:49 it's negotiating. I don't understand where you can't go to whoever's interest and say, if you're, well, it'll just be the trade deadline. Okay, but you don't want him on the trade deadline. I'm going to sign them to an extension. To that point, and man, GMs hate when we do this
Starting point is 00:42:06 in conversations like this, but we're going to do it anyway. Let's go back and the negotiating that took place between Toronto and Calgary, right? I mean, they were deep in the weeds on Rasmus Anderson last year, deep in the weeds. And then, you know, Brad Trilliving didn't, didn't want to close the deal. He turns and goes to Boston and gives the Bruins for Brandon Carlo, Fraser Minton and a first round draft pick. Are you sure it was Brad that didn't want to close the deal?
Starting point is 00:42:40 Well, yeah, I mean, no, I'm not. I'm not certain of that. Anyway. But the point is, you know, like Fraser Minton is a top nine NHL forward. I mean, I think that he's going to be a third line player.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Not convinced to that. He's a kid. How do we know? How do we know? But we also don't know what that package looked like between Calgary. And maybe that wasn't enough for Calgary. I don't know. You know,
Starting point is 00:43:06 it seemed like last year everybody was asking for Easton but I can tell you that some of the speculation around Toronto pushing Easton Cowan? No. Everybody would ask, but no. It wasn't untouchable, but there was no deal out there that would have included Easton Cowan that they would have made. But anyway, maybe that's the type of deal for Anderson that could have and should have been made.
Starting point is 00:43:27 But both sides have to agree, and that didn't happen. What about Montreal? We just saw them the other night. They're fun. They were doing the wave in the third. Caulfield, we've timed it. They played the goal horn for 16 seconds. That's a horn.
Starting point is 00:43:42 Caulfield's third period goal in January. Bloody loud horn, too. Really? Yeah, it's nice. Jumping in there singing. Another three point night for the captain and kid I saw last night. So how about he is? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:57 Right off the freaking scrap heap. They know what they're doing out there. They, uh, and you brought up Coleman's name. I do wonder because Kent Hughes, it's been a couple of times where he's been asked. Like, oh, you know, we just. We just going to kind of want to wait. Is it just, you know, they're one of the best teams on the Easter conference.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Right? It's offensively there. Why not? Yeah, there are some who watch that team closer than I do. And I watch Canadians fairly closely. You know, we all pick apart certain aspects of a game and a team and how they play. And the critics of the Montreal Canadians keep reminding me that as good as they are, as fun as they are to watch.
Starting point is 00:44:39 Yeah, if they're goaltending, stabilizes. and it looks like it's trending in that direction, there's still a defensive part of their game that's got to get cleaned up. You know, they give up too many chances. And even though they've had success against better teams this year, you can only go so far
Starting point is 00:44:57 when you're trying to swap chances, right? Like you've got to develop a structure and adhere to it so that you're comfortable in the 2-1-3-2 hockey games. And, you know, we'll see how that part of their game, you know, evolves moving, forward, but they'd like to improve the middle of their ice. Cadbury makes some sense to me, but here's why it doesn't, I believe, to Kent Hughes and management of the Montreal
Starting point is 00:45:24 Canadians. You guys watch the World Junior Championship, and you obviously saw the tournament that Michael H had for Canada. And how do you argue with that? I mean, you're looking into a crystal ball, and you're hoping that as well as he played, peer versus peer on the world. is an indicator of what we're going to see at some point in the NHL. He still has to be, what, three years away from having a game and filling out into the man that he's going to be to be able to play that type of game at the NHL level, but they don't want to block this kid.
Starting point is 00:46:00 They don't. They want to make sure that he's got opportunity as a second line center, worst case scenario. So I think that's why they're where they're dabbling with some of the other. players of interest like Blake Coleman. Yeah, like I talked about this with some Habs fans the other day and we'd sort of been spitballing, okay, Cottier's a great fit there.
Starting point is 00:46:20 They need center. This Hage kid looks like a good prospect. Who has to add? What does that deal look like? After watching the World Juniors, I'm like, in two years, what are the odds that Nazim Codry at 37 is better than this 21-year-old Michael Hage?
Starting point is 00:46:34 Like I see why they might not want to part with them. No. And I joked about this. We did the Leafs Regional game last night. and I joked a bit about it in one of our intermissions. You know, anytime that Kent Hughes is involved in a higher level trade conversation with the manager, guess who that opposing manager asks about. Well, it's Michael Hage, right?
Starting point is 00:46:55 And I joked about it. Unless the Pittsburgh Penguins bottom falls out and the unthinkable happens, and Sidney Crosby is actually in play, that's the only scenario whereby I think Ken Hughes and the Montreal Canadian would take a Michael Hage trade conversation seriously. And I'm saying that chuckling, as I say it, because we know it's not going to happen. But this kid is, he's legit.
Starting point is 00:47:21 He's going to be a little bit of pick too. Yeah. We had a little conversation. I guess it was last week. We were kind of, will there, will there or not there, yes or no kind of poll question?
Starting point is 00:47:31 Will there be a day? Will you wake up one morning and see the flames in a playoff spot? And we all kind of said, Yes, that was a week ago. We're less confident today. But I'm looking at the wild card in the east and the Buffalo Sabres with 50 points are in the second wild card spot. I'm sure it's maybe it's happened this year. Maybe it's happened before.
Starting point is 00:47:55 But it feels like not only has it been a long time, but it feels like for the first time in a long time, it could be sustainable. They've won a lot of hockey games here. What's the vibe coming out of Buffalo? I guess not so much are they going to trade. But I guess what's your read? you're close to it. There is this team finally. Okay, we're not world beaters,
Starting point is 00:48:15 but we're not the worst than the world either. What do you do with Tuck? That's the big one. Yeah. And there's wild speculation on what do you do with Alex Tuck. Now, you know, Kevin Adams shared with me prior to his dismissal that, you know,
Starting point is 00:48:32 the Tuck money was around Adrian Kempi. And just north, that's what he was looking for. So what, what's Kempi, 10, 6? I'm 7.6. That's a big number to swallow. And I happen to be an Alex Tuck fan.
Starting point is 00:48:48 I think he's a good player, big, solid dude, you know, all of that. I get it. And I'm not so sure that Yarmel K. Kalinin is dealing with sticker shock. You know, I know that he's had conversations with the Bartlett's who represent Alex stuck recently, but that could be also because he's new in the chair. and he's brought in some new pieces in management. So they just want to familiarize themselves with all of the details. But the wild speculation around Buffalo,
Starting point is 00:49:18 and I think it's mostly radio and maybe some podcasts in that area, is that, okay, well, flip Alex duck. And, you know, there's a sense that Yarmal wants to be aggressive. Well, okay. But let's also look at history here for a moment. If it were me, my aggressiveness would be finding out, okay, what is, like, do I, does my group in management see a future with Alex stock at $10 plus million? And if that's too much, okay, well, now let's have a different
Starting point is 00:49:54 conversation about trade and maximizing the assets and being aggressive in that regard. I understand that. But if you're big game hunting, and Ant, Artemmy Panarin's name was thrown out there as a possible fit as part of a word. Now, again, I don't want to give this credence or fan the flames because we all have these pie in the sky conversations right but i'm a fan of yarmel he's a nice man i like dealing with yarmel k k kailinen but look at some of the swings and misses that took place back to the day of the columbus blue jackets and i i defend him in doing it because he always did it with a feel like just one more piece just one more piece one more piece and the blue jackets are going to thrive.
Starting point is 00:50:39 They're going to take off. I'm going to make my owner tons of money with a playoff run. And it just went, you know, it just fizzled, right? So I'd be surprised if he stands there with a Louisville and swings for the fence. I, you know, I think you have to figure out what's going on with Alex Tuck.
Starting point is 00:50:57 And, you know, give this team a chance too here, guys, right? But give this team a chance. If there's opportunity to make it better, okay, of course, that's your job. but to swing wildly because you're chasing a dream, that kind of stuff can cost you for years to come. And Buffalo is still, like, I mean, they've got battle wounds left, right and center,
Starting point is 00:51:19 all over that organization for the past 14 plus years. So it's time to just be patient, let the group kind of settle in. It's not just a hockey team that has battle wounds. Oh, city's scarred. This is the year, though. Is it? Oh, for sure.
Starting point is 00:51:35 Pills, yeah, look out. I feel it. I think so. I hope so. All right, drinks. I'm not a Bill's fan per se. I just, I'm a Josh Allen fan. I like certain parts of the Buffalo Bills. It's just, they've been kicked in the shin so many times. It's just time. You don't like the run defense?
Starting point is 00:51:53 No. No. No. No. No. I got a lot of time for Josh Allen. It's a good, dude. Well, buddy, I have to say, I enjoyed, This is for two people in the world. Okay. I saw you retweet something about the McNut bar. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:14 I saw that too. Boys, you got to stop there. Boomer, especially you. You're in the vicinity. Well, I was going to say, I have a McNut bar story. Now, it's McNut, Saskatchewan is a small Saskatchewan town. It's a Hamlet. Yeah, and it is a Hamlet.
Starting point is 00:52:28 Some guy did a story. You got to stop by this bar. They've got, you know, hot pistachios, and they got photo albums and pictures on the wall, and the guy... Cheeseies hanging on the wall. Now you're familiar with the McNut bar. Okay. My parents owned it.
Starting point is 00:52:46 I had no idea. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Kenning Gillie Drager owned the McNut bar. And I think I would have been five, six years old at the time. Nothing has changed in that bar, as you can clearly see. But there was a little pass-through window from this little dingy, janky sort of kitchen where my mom would make like a bologna sandwich
Starting point is 00:53:08 and you know pass it through and you know whatever. So and we lived upstairs in the bar. So like 10 o'clock, 11 o'clock at night, I could hear things getting nasty down below. I'd just pitter, patter all the way down the stairs. And I'd just slide the wooden window open about four or five inches and peer through. Mayhem, just the complete shit show out there.
Starting point is 00:53:35 Like it was craziness, like full-on brawls. And my old man was always in the middle of it. Like he was just an S-O-B with pool cues, bottles throwing. Like, I mean, if it hadn't been minus 40, they would have ran for the rifles. Like that sounds honest to God, I'm not making this up even a little bit. But if you're ever in the McNutts of Saskatchewan area,
Starting point is 00:54:01 you do need to stop in because I think Hazel still owns it. and wonderful. Great hamburgers. It was Thanksgiving, and we were at home, and we went to Russell. It was beef and barley days in Russell. Of course, yes. So we were at the, we were at the dance. We were at the social.
Starting point is 00:54:19 Oh, okay. And we were heading back towards Roblin. So you got, well, we'll stop by Ingles. And we'll see if the English is the English bar. Well, English isn't open, and this isn't open. And brutal. So my sister-in-law, she starts calling, well, call Hazel and McNut and see if the McNuff bar is open.
Starting point is 00:54:37 So she phoned two, three, four times. There's no answer. There's no answer. Whatever. The next morning, she wakes up and Haisel is calling her, hey, I saw you called the bar last night. I just wanted to check in. Everything okay? No, Hazel, we were just talking to have a couple of beers,
Starting point is 00:54:53 maybe some shots before 2 a.m. Oh, no, that's okay. Oh, that's good. We were just really concerned. Something must be wrong when the bar owner is calling. The next morning to just make sure everything's Copacetic. Classic, classic hamburger.
Starting point is 00:55:09 And when you take that first bite, it's delicious, heavily garliced, which is fine. I'm okay with that. But I'm pretty sure, and I think this is legal, it's probably not beef. Oh, dear. Yes. Yes, that's exactly what it is. I was really looking forward to going until it's a momentous. Twist of the end there.
Starting point is 00:55:31 There you go. Thanks, drags. Appreciate you, pal. Story time. Yeah. Have a good weekend. Quit that drinker. Yeah, it is.
Starting point is 00:55:41 McNutt, Saskatchewan. It's just a 10-hour drive. We could get there. That's not farce. Hey, it's a road trip. It's a road trip. That's a drag, of course. On the insider hotline for crystal water
Starting point is 00:55:52 is plumbing and heating your crystal clear choice for home comfort. Warm weather coming up. Doesn't mean it's not going to get cold again. Get that furnace checked out. Get your hot water tank. water softener. Nothing in my house was working right. I can't have water in this city.
Starting point is 00:56:10 Just let them, yeah, just let Crystal Waters come in and make sure they'll give everything a tune up. You do it with your vehicle, you do it with the lot, do it with your house. You'll get your teeth checked every year. That's right. Do their house. Do it. Spend all your half your day there.
Starting point is 00:56:23 Crystal water's plumbing and heating. Crystal Clear choice for home comfort crystal clearcalcalford. Crystal Clear Calgary.com. 403-219, 4,100. You, uh, sticker shock on Tucker or no? Because we've talked about it throughout the year. I Yes, because I've been an idiot.
Starting point is 00:56:38 I've always thought he was injured all the time And he's not And he does a lot of good stuff I still wouldn't pay him that much I don't think he To me Again, They've sucked
Starting point is 00:56:49 So it's hard to give anyone any credit But he doesn't feel like an integral piece to that Is he integral to Vegas? I'm sure Have they been hurting since? And yeah Obviously they got Eichel but still You would like to have some success
Starting point is 00:57:01 But it's thought We have to win right now And we need to keep Oh, just keep hope that this is suddenly part of a movement in Buffalo where you have been really good games really good and if you look by points percentage or even safer than they look by points they've had a great run um I think what you'll see them do is what the connects did with JT Miller which is move them out and the first rounder you get back is gone
Starting point is 00:57:26 within nanoseconds so because because you're not the problem with oh just trade tucking go get some guys to help now well what contender wants to give you roster players it doesn't it's a harder to make sometimes, whereas you get the first. Thomas. Robert Thomas. Get a first, get some young assets, and then you could turn and turn those into players, because I do think Kekeleinen wants to make sure they get in this year. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:48 Kekylliner's. Just curled the armol. Okay, Tuck, you there, return here. That return over to Thomas and St. Louis budget. Why does St. Louis want Tuck? No, you trade Tuck for the first and then he's trading Tuck to L.A. for a first into something. Yeah. Bringing that, and then Tuck to L.A. has got some win to it. It feels like a Ken Holland type of deal, right?
Starting point is 00:58:11 Well, you got Copator coming up. That's true, too. The money's coming off. That was McDavid money. They're going to have some money in Edmonton. They have not done great in terms of luring for agents in. I could see. I did. A little slow today. They wanted me. Dave. I got it. 12 of 13 for the Sabres. Rollin. Rollin. Do you remember the 10 game winning streak they had? Like, I want to say six years ago? We were so excited because the playoff losing kid was at like eight years in a row. We're like, they're finally going to do it. You pray that isn't this again.
Starting point is 00:58:42 What's stunning to me is, this is not a nice conversation, but it's what we do. We're going to take a look at things and understand it because I've been in Buffalo and I have ties. I pay more attention to it. This could happen anyway. How in the F is firing your GM that impactful on your team? It's the same team. They won three in a row. Yeah, they'd won three to finish a Western road swing, and then the changes made. It felt like they had stride,
Starting point is 00:59:11 and the GM thing was just a coincidence. Like, I don't think, I wouldn't chalk any of this up to Jim Murphy. Like, what? Oh, you're not going to chalk anything off to it. Well, they'd won three in a row and playing good home. Oh, God, well, they won three in a row. That's completely different than being in a playoff spot right now.
Starting point is 00:59:27 Totally. So you're not saying there's zero correlation between Kevin Adams being shit-canned and them being in a playoffs. but uh there might be a little i don't think it's a major one i think you're drunk that's fine yeah i mean i'm not there you're talking today i don't sure about what's going on what you did last night but just something's not right i took myself in at a reasonable hour opened up the apps telling me about world events that was a bad idea yeah don't do that i don't do that i don't get in that building will be jumping that'll be fun oh it'll be wild
Starting point is 00:59:58 Detroit's got a huge skit as well they had a game 82 that could have got them in a few years ago like there's going to be some markets in this year like Montreal all back with that young team well Toronto has uh 16 14 of a possible 16 points since uh letting go marks of art i think that but that guy's in the room screwing up your power for it there's a no i know since they got leader of coal out of there they've been just rolling yeah about like again i just keep coming back to the flames and it's a little bit different because j j j peturka was a good young player you don't want to lose him but okay so you make make a trade Josh Done, goals in four straight.
Starting point is 01:00:35 Very good. Catherine was very good. Because you're trading the best player in the deal, it can be hard, but it doesn't mean you're losing the deal. Especially on a rental, I say. Jesus. I just bristle when I hear the stuff. Well, we'll wait for to see what GM's offer.
Starting point is 01:00:56 We'll see, make me an, you know, we'll sit back. We'll see what offers come in. Well, you know what? Well, you know, Codry likes to hear. If Codry comes in and asks to go for, That makes me queasy. Can we be proactive? You're running a business.
Starting point is 01:01:09 I don't give a shit what Cadry wants. You have a no trade list. I won't trade you there. And I might ask if you want to go there, but regardless of what you think, your ass is gone. Like, I'm sorry. If I can trade Nazim Kodry,
Starting point is 01:01:24 I'm trading him whether he wants it or not. What the, are we talking about? I agree with that. I do think that it's the age and the term and the money you're constantly. complicated, but you should be doing it. You should be trying to do it. Don't ask. I don't need his
Starting point is 01:01:38 permission. You are at 30th or whatever. It makes no sense not to. It's not about Oh, team tank. It drives me crazy. All those people on team tank. It's not team tank. It's the real world. It's taking the standings, your roster, your makeup,
Starting point is 01:01:55 birth certificates. Three, four, five years. And building a roster. It makes less sense by a mile to hang on to Nossum Codry. Now, and it's because cadres, it's a credit to who he is as a player. He's a leader, dog on a bone, great player, center, yes,
Starting point is 01:02:10 you love all of it. But that's why he's so attractive. You're not going to win anything while he's under contract. It's not team tanking. It's team functional NHL organization. That's what this fan base wants. They want in a front office
Starting point is 01:02:26 that looks like it's competent. And I, but, and I, I haven't heard them. Maybe I did hear them. I don't know if I've heard them say it's specifically, but while the fact that we have to ask Nossam how he feels about this, what? Yeah, I understand training players well, but there's also asset management which you have to be excellent at when you're as bad as the flames are right now.
Starting point is 01:02:46 If Nassim Kodry is holding up the organization moving forward, and I don't know that he is. No, it keeps coming up that, well, it sounds like Nossum would be open to it. Go! I don't give a shit. Call people. It feels like it's just, I don't need to ask him.
Starting point is 01:03:08 It's in like bold print and like extra large font for everyone to see. But it's why is it so hard? I mean, you have a team that's near the bottom in the standings this year. I promise you will move on. We'll do the Pinder Report next. But you have a team that's near the bottom in the standings. You're desperately in need of a rebuild. And you have, when you hear drags, teams want D, setters and depth scoring.
Starting point is 01:03:30 You maybe have, you maybe have three of the most attractive players. potentially available at all of those positions, you are absolutely positioned to crush it, and you're not sure if you should or you want to. I know you have a hard time with it. No, I'm exactly with you. They have to do it. It's just I'm not going to crush them for not having done now.
Starting point is 01:03:57 I'll crush them if it's March 6th, then they're sitting on Coleman and Cadry, and they'll get double barrels. Well, we don't need you to come in until March 6th. Perfect. You can add a... I can't imagine. I just, I can't.
Starting point is 01:04:08 And again, I have the negative take on it, I guess, but I just look when. I think that the car, again, I said earlier, I think the car has hit the ditch. Yeah. And the cop has reached in and said, no, you're not driving. You don't get to drive anymore. Yeah, I agree. And that's why my concern level is a little lower. But again, if they're a point out of the playoffs, this is, I'm scared.
Starting point is 01:04:26 The Anderson deal, yes, they don't need to trade Coleman or Cadry. There's time left in the contract. I think they'll move one of them. My concern is not that. So the car hit the ditch, the keys are out of their head. Like, how do I have to, keep going back to? Look at who's in last place. Look at who's in your conference.
Starting point is 01:04:47 Look at the quality of team you're going to have to develop to over, to beat these teams. Yeah. You can't slow play it. Be aggressive with it. I'll tell you one thing we'll all agree on. Like, if you move a Rasmusina Coleman, let's say in the next 10 days, like you got a real good shot pick.
Starting point is 01:05:06 real high. Like it's going to help you the right way in the standings. Like, go show us you can build a Stanley Cup winner. Not that you can make friends and keep veterans, like, screw that. Be a contender. Go get a star. I wonder if the Florida Panthers are worried about making friends and
Starting point is 01:05:28 No, they seem pretty cutthroat. Same with Tampa. Hey, Michael Sergege, nice seven-year deal. Trade it. That was when Dreggs was talking about Cadre sounds like he might be open to going to a contender. Remember when Eisenman was in Tampa Bay? Yeah. And he went to Marty St. Louis and was like,
Starting point is 01:05:46 You're not on Team Canada. You're not on Team Canada. And I'm moving you. Like, I'm trading you. I was like, I want you cups. Well, you didn't win me cups. But yeah, you want like, no, I'm trading. I got two rings out of that.
Starting point is 01:05:59 What? After that. Hearing loss clinic, hearingloss.com, locally owned, operated. and I say this about a lot of our, but I believe it to be true. They're the best at what they do. We're very fortunate to have experts in this particular field
Starting point is 01:06:16 living in our midst, among us. Hearing loss, impairment, it's not about that. It's empowering people to be socially active, more confident, more connected, just living a better life in all aspects. Travis and Sabrina are brilliant. They're wonderful people, they're great business people, and truly the best at this
Starting point is 01:06:34 when it comes to suffering from hearing loss. It can be tougher adults of any age, especially tough for kids. Dementia, depression, other health risks have been linked to untreated hearing loss, so wait no longer. Go get it done. It's right.
Starting point is 01:06:49 There's five locations in the city, which probably, they're not on the same neighborhood. They didn't buy five. That guy should do the run, the cost, the hot, the hearing loss. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:02 Let me know. I'll get you the addresses if you need them. Custom ear protection, musician molds, inner stage monitor, all that and more at the hearing loss. Five in Calgary five as well in BC. Helping you hear better simply their way of helping you live better. Book an assessment today. Probably need to get Jack in there. Yes. I don't know if hearing impairment leads to irritability, but I'll look for that study.
Starting point is 01:07:26 It might be. That's for sure. You're wearing those big headphones you love? I hate these stupid big headphones. I know. You got to get you some in your I do. I do have headphones.
Starting point is 01:07:36 I just forgot them. Let's get you some good ones. Some real ones. Hearing loss.c.a. All right, Pinda Report time on a Friday for our good friends at Village Honda. It is the winter ready SUV event. You see what winners are like here.
Starting point is 01:07:53 Go get yourself four by four. Go get yourself an all-wheel drive. Check out the inventory online at VillageHonda.com and in the Northwest Autoball on the lot. Let's start. the Flames Nation. Another night, another loss on the road
Starting point is 01:08:07 for the Calgary Flames and flash in that cute little cat-looking dog getting this up to speed on what's going on. Flames offense remains dry. Four straight regulation loss also the four bad losses in a row on the road in a row. Their last road game
Starting point is 01:08:24 prior to these two. Edmonton won. They beat six to three. Yeah, it's not a good road team this year and they got three more left on this trip not ideal let's take a look at them 0 for two on this five game roadie they go to face el penguino oh no the penguins 1 30 mad name oh no he no's back scored last night penguins uh six straight and seven of eight yes but oh what's you'll know well the flames are going to want to win this one it's they're going to try
Starting point is 01:08:57 this is going to who are you who are you fearful of you concerned I know where I put my money. Crosby 14 points in his last eight game. Just, hey? Fantasy. Fantasy. Yeah. Just to ask.
Starting point is 01:09:15 What, you're just going to draft first and get stars? That's actually how it works. They'll follow the Saturday matinee in Pittsburgh. This is a bad schedule. It really is. I agree. Tuesday, Columbus, Thursday, Chicago.
Starting point is 01:09:32 I can't decide if they're so bored. They're ultra-focused in Columbus, or if they've lost to Pittsburgh, they go to Columbus, they're bored, stiff. And miserable. Because there's nothing to do. And now they've lost five in a row, and the coaches are on them,
Starting point is 01:09:48 and we're watching video, and they're just like, oh, my God. Trade me now. And they blow out in Columbus. Hey, Craig, it's NAS. I'm really open to getting traded. This is terrible. Chicago,
Starting point is 01:10:01 of note the last of Arodi is always a tough one. Badaard looks like he might be ready tonight. We'll get into that with some of the scheduling in a moment. But first, let's go look at the hashtag winning culture bowl. Flames third from the bottom, 455 points percentage. There's times where I feel like this terrible today. And then there's other things that he slides later. If we just make me patient, I think it's pretty clear that they know what they're doing.
Starting point is 01:10:25 Fantasy hockey poho, domo. That's president of hockey. A cocky culture, bowl. Keep going, right? Yeah, again, I kind of with red. The key's been taken away. They have to rebuild at this point. 455 is no good.
Starting point is 01:10:40 Even 500 is pretty shitty in this league. 27th. Like, don't be fooled by thinking they're closed to 500. That means they're good. That would be a bottom six team if you're 500. Do they have any, excuse my ignorance? Yes. There's lots of it.
Starting point is 01:10:54 Do they have any advanced stats that show that we're idiots and that they should treat? No, the metrics say that they're, good defensively, horrible offensively. The power plays dog shit. Like, no. They're a bad team. And imagine if Winnipeg wasn't on like an all-timer. This is the worst skid they've been on
Starting point is 01:11:10 since moving from Atlanta. They've lost how many in a row? 11. So they were 15, so 22 minus 11. So they were 15 and 12. Well, they got a couple OTs in there, but yeah, it's bad. Yeah, it's roughly. Yeah, no, you're right. It was a good start to the year. It's 35 points.
Starting point is 01:11:27 Jets have lost 24 of 30. Oh! It's where they're at. 24 of 30. That's amazing. Jeez. That's a lot of losses, fellas. And, of course, the Canucks were not going good and then traded Quinn Hughes.
Starting point is 01:11:41 Got a little bump for a week after that, and it's been pretty. I mean, they will trade she for, she for, Kefer, Sherwood. You got it. NHL leader in hits on Pace for 30 goals. Come up. Mucky bottom six guy. Don't think good. Buffalo.
Starting point is 01:11:54 They'd love him in Buffalo. Oh, they would. Yes. Good call. Let's, here's the good news, though, fellas. The athletic also has their projections for the remainder of the season, not just the standings. And then you can press a little button and it shows you the draft lottery odds.
Starting point is 01:12:09 This morning, after last night's events, the team most likely to draft first overall, albeit just 50% the Calgary bleeping flames. Heckily! Dino join us, please. We don't care about that. We love them getting a high pick. Oh, okay. Yes.
Starting point is 01:12:28 Because we were going to sacrifice two December wins against 70s. As long as they got a top three. Now, let's play the little game. I think it's time, boys. It's January 9th. Wow. Before we press any buttons, these are your standings current and updated through last night. And the standings getting flipped around.
Starting point is 01:12:44 Give us our lottery odds. Thanks to the great people at Tankathon, too, and the Lord's work. What are we looking at, Ryan? Tankathon is the website. We've got the lottery odds based on standards if the season did end last night. Who's going to win the lottery? Jack. So it's a simulator.
Starting point is 01:12:58 You press. Spin the wheel. Doodle, didle, doodoole, doodoo. Oh. Chicago.
Starting point is 01:13:07 Fucking kidding me. The Hawks again. Then the jets are. The Panthers moved up to the top four. Are they going to Chicago? Two for Chicago. So the flames of six.
Starting point is 01:13:18 They're getting Barth and Stenberg. Oh, my God. Jack, that was a mistake. We got to do that again. No, you can't. No. It's okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:13:27 You got to let that one live. Wow, that is Florida won it. Is it the South Jones trade? That would be, yes. So Chicago having the Florida pick would pick twice in the top four. Yeah. That's not bad. That is some good cooking right there.
Starting point is 01:13:41 Cald Davidson. Well done, sir. That'll, we'll do this every day. Watch you up the standings quick. So let's say the hypothetical top four, like the center, town and Lawrence who just moved to college, Verhof, Stembert, McKenna. If they got two of those guys.
Starting point is 01:13:58 Yeah. So then what would be left for Calgary? You can't read, maybe. Defenseman. There's some good players. Good players, for sure. Where is the stand? Like, what have we got?
Starting point is 01:14:11 As once again, the flames do not pick in the top three ever. Now, that's why the athletic one is key, because it projects them to finish last. Right now, they're only third from the bottom. Most you can fall down as two spots. We'll see here it goes. Yeah, please look this out of them. Yeah, this one's better because the flames are first.
Starting point is 01:14:27 Well, the lowest that you could pick. here is three, but again, this is a projection. This isn't the standings as they stand. So we'll continue to do it. It'll evolve. It's a fun part of the show, Dean. It's so fun. If you would like to sponsor Tankathon, yes. Contact no one. If you want to sponsor the Rabigel segment,
Starting point is 01:14:45 we'll do this weekdays moving forward. Yeah. Last night's results. Let's get to that, shall we? A lot of games. A lot of hockey games there. Dean, man, I was glued to it. No, you were not. Keynes won the Hedican bowl. It was quiet at the house. There was no kids hockey because it was screaming and was over.
Starting point is 01:15:03 6.30 a.m. practices the last cup of days. I sat down. I watched. I missed the third. By then I was kind of like, okay. I don't know what you miss. So I cleaned the garage. Oh, garage. Sorry, Ryan. A couple games of note. Avalanche embarrassed the
Starting point is 01:15:19 senators who are in one. Well, the abs were mad too. They were. They lost two in a row. Seattle keeps their points trick alive. They were down two nothing in the third. Can you not bounce around? I'm lost. your app. Bottom right. Okay. Seattle has points in 10 straight. 8.0 and 2. Believe that matches their longest ever points you can franchise. So we're going bottom right to top left. Keep going. Some games of note that I wanted to highlight. McDavid, 41 points
Starting point is 01:15:43 in 17 games. If you want that. You're on Calgary, not radio, but podcasts. You're on the we talked about Montreal. If you'd like to join the fellows up north, let's have fun. Vancouver loses again. That's five straight losses for that. them. They're doing well. What are you doing? Let's play a little game. Do you know? Let's go to last night's shitty attitude today. It's what it is. Two drubbing of the senators
Starting point is 01:16:09 in Denver. We had a couple scraps. Let's go. Now here's the thing. That is a bad bo-b-b-b-b-b-b-b. That's start. Two guys, we don't expect to fight. That's a little. Wee, Sam Gerard, and Zijam and Tim Stutzla. Stutzl.
Starting point is 01:16:25 That's going to take it. Is this a good fight? Let's watch. Sammy G. Putting some Alex Seven bongos vibes. Sammy G. Stochle has the reach advantage. The Warner buys in the basement. Oh.
Starting point is 01:16:44 I don't know if he landed. So guys that clearly didn't fight. When you see both hands free, you know it's guys that don't fight often. You want to get a hold red. Is that right? A guy that played in red deer that Wilm always got beat up by. He'd throw both hands. He was just windmill and both.
Starting point is 01:16:58 It was hard to figure out what to do. Yeah. They eventually did settle on and have it till. Good work. Get on them. Got feisty six goals in the second period by the abs, and the Sends were not appreciative of that. Now, it gets even better.
Starting point is 01:17:10 It was a night for the ages for Josh Manson, who, uh, ages. This guy's won cups. He's gone, it's done it wrong. You just wait. So we'll tell you about the rest of the night, but first, here we go. It's a good season for a lot of people.
Starting point is 01:17:24 Oh, man. Big hits, and someone's going to have to pay for that. Oh, we're going to fight. Right off the top here. Here goes Minson. He's going to tee it up. There's also a throw-load to start some. Big boy with the U.N.D.
Starting point is 01:17:38 right by Manta. They don't teach you how to fight the NTP program down in the States. That's just not so bad. Spent time with. Matt's his old Matt could have told him a few things about that. He was spooky there. So how good was the night? It's just a fight, not a big deal, right?
Starting point is 01:17:57 Well, he did some other things, too, and the 8-2 embarrassing of the senators. There's the hit that starts it. Two goals, two assists, four points, plus five, five hits, one fight, four block shots, three takeaways. D-Man. So a... That's a quarter of a season for a stay-at-home defenseman.
Starting point is 01:18:21 That's unbelievable. He was involved. Wow. That's unreal. He was in it. Do it again. prove us not a fluke yeah McKinnon four points
Starting point is 01:18:36 McCar three points Manson oh man Manson four points sends three straight losses five of seven they're on the outside looking in in a very busy east
Starting point is 01:18:47 weird stories surrounding the Ottawa senators and think about weird stories that may or may not be true if they're not true and you make a huge press release about how not true they are now everyone's going to go look for them
Starting point is 01:18:57 yeah if you hadn't heard about it I was like what? Oh I better go look for it what is this what are these these the internet trolls and sad people doing. No, we're not that. We're not. We're not. We started the show with a song,
Starting point is 01:19:14 Flap Fuck Friday. I know, but we're not into promoting. Oh, that's, we're real careful. Okay, I had no idea. It's a weird. It's a windy line. It's not a straight line, but we don't want to cross it. We got a fronk bomb, but are trending towards a return tonight.
Starting point is 01:19:31 Jack's loving today. He's still a different day to day for this guy. Yes, great. Badard's coming back. No shit. Eventually he's going to come back. He was hurt. He's getting better.
Starting point is 01:19:42 He's going to play. So he's not turning away from a return? He's returning to a return. Do you have the Frank Baum thing? The injury, no. The injury is not getting worse. He's healing? He should go on social media because I would be excellent.
Starting point is 01:19:56 Also, trending towards death. It doesn't say that. Oh, shoot. Another day closer to death. Which is bad news, but also accurate. AI breaking. Now, tonight's games, we'll take a peek at them. We had an Olympic update in a moment, just three.
Starting point is 01:20:11 So if Bedard does go, it'll be at home at the Madhouse against the caps. Kings at Jets, this is not just the horrible Jets, bad, bad, bad, but, you know, you have the Vilarity trade. What's the game of the night, Dean? I'm just trying to think of who played for the Caps and Hawks. I want to make it more impressive. I want to go back in time. I want to do some older, old school hawks and caps. Kings and Jets.
Starting point is 01:20:42 Gabe Valardi, that's easy. No, I don't like the trade. The direct trades are not as impressive. It's just easier for me to think of it, but yeah. Philippe Dono? What about the mammoth? That's a tough one. Yeah, if you include Arizona, it's...
Starting point is 01:20:58 Kachuk. There you go. Or does it still have to be Utah? No, that would be very short, a very short. a very short window. That would be mean. I'm trying to think of that Peter Bondra era. Yeah, Christich, I don't think played in Chicago.
Starting point is 01:21:14 You wouldn't have had Brendan Witt. No. Definitely Washington. Yeah, I don't know. I feel like there's an Arneson or a Bell or something. I don't know. That's a tough one. That's a tough one.
Starting point is 01:21:32 I mean, and I'd still like to get a better Jets King's one, but I don't want to, you know, completely bog us down. We're screwing up to today. No good. We had all those games yesterday. We crushed it. This three-game segment is... Yeah, this one's really... Yes. We cruised yesterday. Capitals? Blackhawks. Steve Larmer.
Starting point is 01:21:55 Bernie Nichols? No, or either? Olaf Colzig. Dylan Strom. Okay. Okay. Very good. All right. Jack... What did we do, Jet Kings? Jack was hoping for a better... You wanted a better one.
Starting point is 01:22:10 nitpicky here. I gave you Dano and Valerty. Dano. He was in no. Montreal. Who's the guy in Washington now? The centerman. Dubois. PLD. But that was a trade. Yeah, he played there. That's great good. Yeah. Good work.
Starting point is 01:22:27 Here look Dubois. Short uninspiring stay in Los Angeles. Got a lot of dough. Got a lot of dough. And to be fair, Rob Blake. What a horrible deal. How are they going to do it? They got Kemper out of that. Actually wiggled out nicely. Rob Blake did. there. So did Washington. Is he still? Yeah, what's he been doing?
Starting point is 01:22:44 Is he hurt this year, I think? Du Bois. Let's check. He's just, you know, love doing the halmational the first year there. Dylan Stromy. That's Pierre. How do you spell Pierre, Jack? P-E-T-E-R. Du Bois and I are. Injure Reserve. Yeah. Olympic update. Guys, don't worry about the rank.
Starting point is 01:23:06 They're going to get it done. Oh, someone in the chat, Troy Brower. That's a great capital. That is a one. We're wondering. Well, sorry, Ryan,
Starting point is 01:23:13 back to you. The ice is in great shape. We don't need to worry about the ice. Look at this. There's the, this is the rink. Some guys playing in the testament there. There's an Italian league games coming up.
Starting point is 01:23:22 Look at this. Looks like a rink. What's the problem? There's a jumbotron. A little dust. They'll clean that up. Yeah, that's not that.
Starting point is 01:23:28 That looks fine. That's the ring. Come on. And then is a, I mean, there's a guy on Twitter playing in the testament. It tends to taking videos all week. There's a guy on Twitter.
Starting point is 01:23:40 he's playing in the test event that they're hosting on the 9th. Playing in the testament? Test event. They're going to use the rink before the Olympics. He's in said event. There's Italian league teams that are going to play there, I believe. And this is the video from inside the ring. It is not done, but it is close to done.
Starting point is 01:23:55 All those Italians, they'll get it together. The challenge being, while the rink and the seats might be okay, the room. Well, what do you need? A hook and a stool. You need carpets. need stalls. Maybe some carp. You need some washrooms.
Starting point is 01:24:13 You got those rubber pads. Probably need sinks. Like, you're taking the world's best NHELors. They're not going to get spoiled. It's back to basics, fellas. Let's go. I got a month.
Starting point is 01:24:24 You know what? I kind of like it. These fat cats, go play for the love of the game. This isn't far off that rink with the staircase that falls under the ceiling. It's actually closer than I thought that was going to be. Good one.
Starting point is 01:24:37 So that's the latest over in Milan. Wild card weekend's coming at us. All four of our teams are in the NFL playoffs. What a treat that is. Saturday belongs to Dean. His Bears hosting the Packers. Big Day Sunday. Rets Bills in the morning in Jacksonville.
Starting point is 01:24:52 My Chargers. It's nice to have a game in between, Ryan, so we can overcome the emotions one way or the other. And Monday night, we'll be in our palatial martyip studios for another live stream. I've got to have so minor. I can't come. What? What?
Starting point is 01:25:09 No, you've got to be there. Remember what happened when it wasn't here? Do you use Jack's voice? 10-0-0-ravens when you weren't here. If there was lasagna, you're getting lasagna there. I'm starting to feel a little less confident because everyone's picking the Steelers now.
Starting point is 01:25:25 I don't like that. No, they're getting points. Everyone who? Everyone I see on my Twitter, and it might just be Steelers, Homer. Don't go on Twitter. I think it's also that when it's a spread and they're getting three,
Starting point is 01:25:35 picking the Steelers, that doesn't mean they win straight. Oh. Yeah. We'll get to our picks. We're going to do that later today. We got a house. I'll get that. Finally, some dumb shit to close out the Penderport on this Friday.
Starting point is 01:25:48 I don't know that this is real, but it does seem expensive to do a double deuce. Maybe you and the shoveler, some time to bond. This is what they'll do in Milan. That's right. See, they're saving space. Yeah, we're going to go with the doubles luge style format toilet. You can actually do that at Winsport. The double toilet?
Starting point is 01:26:08 Yeah. If you want to train. You're brown though. So dumb. PID report on this Friday, January 9. Say AI. My PAI. We're sorry.
Starting point is 01:26:20 We apologize. It'll never happen again. Village Honda, your dealership for life. Check them out online, village honda.com and in the Northwest Automal, huge inventory of those pre-owned vehicles over 90 units on site and access to more than 500 in their dealer group.
Starting point is 01:26:33 Back to you, Dean. There you go. There you have it. I took the shades off with Drager went. They're itchy. Yeah. don't know how Dean does it. Are you, uh, you know, Christmas is come and gone.
Starting point is 01:26:53 Every day's Christmas at my house. But maybe, you know, maybe things are still aren't going smoothly. Maybe you need another trip to Vinova, head over to market mall. Or maybe you didn't take our advice and you got some other. And you got the eyeball. Some, yeah, you got the hairy eyeball. After all the gifts were open. Oh, so that's, oh, so we're done.
Starting point is 01:27:14 That's, uh, that's it. Okay. Well, thanks. No, that's. Great. Is there anything else? Yeah. If things have been considerably chillier since the 25th, perhaps, not the weather.
Starting point is 01:27:26 We are five weeks from Valentine's Day. I hate to be that guy. Venova.com, showroom and market mall. It's about lab grown diamonds. Largest selection of lab grown in Canada. Wow. The best in Calgary, because no one's doing what they're doing. Nobody is specializing in lab grown. Earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets.
Starting point is 01:27:46 It's lab grown, so it's pristine. It's perfect as compared to earthmind, but you're paying more for earthmind. It makes no sense. Just go before they figure this out. Yeah, to be on the right side, it rarely happens. You're on the right side here. 50 to 70% less expensive than earthmind. Technology improves, more efficient, more affordable, and you can take advantage.
Starting point is 01:28:09 venova.com. Check it out at Market Mall. It's a winner. Yeah. I'm so thankful for Venaenaena. Sometimes you get reciprocal. You got some diamonds? The diamond.
Starting point is 01:28:26 Yeah. We'll take a look at the, can we show, we'll show the McNutt thing on the way out. Oh, yeah, that's good. So some guy was doing like small town bar reviews. I think that's the concept. Yeah, I think that's what it was.
Starting point is 01:28:43 I just had no idea that he. I love that he owned. How did you connect the dots there? Well, it's the McNut bar. Because he's from that area. So you texted your, that was on Twitter. No, no, I know. Did you know his parents owned it or not?
Starting point is 01:28:57 No, he retweeted. It's like, this is amazing. My parents owned. I'm like, what? I had no clue because, yeah, it's, it's quite a spot. Pickled eggs and bar fights. There's always pickled eggs.
Starting point is 01:29:10 Robin or Deer screwed me with a pickle egg bit. How many could he eat or not? Can't eat three in a minute. It's impossible. Cool. Then he started drinking. I'm like, you can't drink. I did say that.
Starting point is 01:29:23 Who is this? Robin O'Geerie owes me a paycheck. A paycheck. And not today's paycheck. 2005. That's not a small bet. Can I have more context? Just where, where, when?
Starting point is 01:29:35 We are in the, the, uh, the, uh, bar at Emma Lake. Okay. Mac Point Bar. Robin Regier. Kevin owns it, runs it. It's closed now. It's too bad because you can pull up in your boat. Anyway, we're having a few pops.
Starting point is 01:29:50 Of course, they've got the. jar of pickled eggs in small town Saskatchewan. I've attempted this bet before, never for a paycheck. Reg is quite gooned and I'm like there's no way you can eat three eggs in a minute.
Starting point is 01:30:05 Three pickles. I can cry. Oh, you're an idiot. He cheated. And reneged. So he did it or didn't do it? He did it with drinking, but Red said you're not allowed to drink. Red said you didn't tell me that.
Starting point is 01:30:19 He immediately said, yeah, he's like, I'm like, well, he tried to do it. And then when he realized he wasn't going to be able to, he took a drink. Well, I didn't know. You knew. So who didn't pay the bet? He didn't pay the bet. I won.
Starting point is 01:30:36 Why would I pay the bet? So is he telling people that you owe him a paycheck somewhere right now? Trust that guy. Yeah. We're just like that. Bet 365, big, big, in many ways. This is the best weekend. six games.
Starting point is 01:30:53 Only less every week from here. They kind of wean us off of it right after the full slate every weekend. So many games. This weekend, next weekend will be okay after that. Yeah, it gets. Then they starve you. They give you a weekend with nothing. Shirks.
Starting point is 01:31:07 Bet 365, our football picks. Jack's taking five because he can't take his own team. What? That's right. It's a Jackism. Chicken shirt. So just This line has moved
Starting point is 01:31:24 It was plus one It's now one and a half I'm going to take the Bears I like the Rams Cover 10 a half Somehow they lost Carolina this year But Carolina is no good I don't get it
Starting point is 01:31:32 Buffalo This is tough I think Jacksonville is good But I think they grid it out They got the experience I didn't love San Fran But the line's now up to five points Yeah
Starting point is 01:31:43 Okay I think they can keep it within five Chargers are getting points I'll take them to keep it close And Pittsburgh keep it close as well, that's what they do. I love Dean and I love the Bears. So much, you picked them twice. The Bears are Bruins.
Starting point is 01:31:58 Yeah, this is odd. I'm a little confused with my picks. He's missing the Chargers Patriots game. Regardless, I'm going Bears. I think 10 and a half at home is a lot for Carolina. I'm just thinking maybe they can hang on to keep it closer than 10 and a half. Like I said, I love the Bears. How do you feel about the Bears?
Starting point is 01:32:20 So then after picking the bears, I decided to circle back and take the bears again. Can't get enough of Chicago. The odds are the same. You don't, I mean, Dino's Bears, but I got. Can you parlay the same game twice? Did I just pick three tons? Boy, that might be a hack. There's my bills.
Starting point is 01:32:35 I think playoff, Sammy and Josh Allen are going to come through. I'm with Pinder. I like the Eagles, but five points. I think San Fran's got enough there to keep it closer than five. I will take Jack Steelers. with points at home. They were amazing last weekend. So good.
Starting point is 01:32:55 We've got a great schedule set up. We're going to watch it. We're going to party. And Tuesday's a day off. Tuesday is a bit fast. I think I took New England in the other game. I'm not sure. Yes, you did.
Starting point is 01:33:06 Sorry. And they are laying three and a half. Just a good month. I like the bears. I'm only going to take them once. But I'll take the bears. But you do like them. Yeah, I do.
Starting point is 01:33:16 Bills minus one. I have to admit, because I was scrambling. As you saw it, I'm like, I forgot to do my. football picks. I just, I knew I wanted Philly. I didn't maybe realize it's five now. I don't know that it, like, it was four and a half most of the week, but it does feel like a half point. I don't know why. It doesn't I want to be on the scene. I'll feel like a lot.
Starting point is 01:33:32 I'll stay there, I guess, but it's, that's good. What would be comfortable? What's a comfortable number? Honestly, it's, it's funny. He says that in that four range. It's like, okay, that's keeping five. That feels like the, not like a push five. I don't know. Yeah. It makes it harder to eat. I don't know why it is. It'll stay with the Eagles. I'll stay with the Eagles. New England three and a half. I'll lay it. Rams, kind of the same thing. I do buy into what you're selling, though, 10 and a half.
Starting point is 01:34:00 It feels to me, again, you're trying to hook me with the half points, scare me off the Rams. I'm just going to do it. And man, the Steelers feel like a team of desks. Yeah, they do. Just feel like they're out of. It's lining up for them. Unbelievable run. I don't know who couldn't get behind them. Jack, over to you.
Starting point is 01:34:18 So we're all on the bears. Yep. I do like them at home. Josh Jacobs has been banged up. I don't really trust the Packers anymore. I declared them as the best team. Week one. Week one.
Starting point is 01:34:28 A lot of change. And yeah, a lot has changed. I've had some injuries. They brought in Diggs to play corner. I don't know if he's playing, but I'll take Chicago. L.A. is going to destroy Carolina. Sneak into the playoffs.
Starting point is 01:34:41 They beat them earlier in the season, which was weird. Month ago. Yeah. Take the Rams might have 10 and a half. Buffalo. Get your bills. Come on. Thanks, Jack.
Starting point is 01:34:50 We have to set up this AFC final. Pittsburgh Buffalo. We'll take them minus one. Sam Fran. I don't think they win, but yeah, I'm with you guys. I feel like the spread is too big. Five feels like a lot of points. Feels like a lot.
Starting point is 01:35:05 So I'll take them. And then I'm going to take the Chargers. I just, I don't trust the Patriots. I don't know why they haven't beaten anyone. It's very new. Yeah. Like, I think they have two wins this whole season over teams over 500.
Starting point is 01:35:17 One of them the bills. One of them was the bills. is he overthinking it? I'm fine with it. I'm just at Jack's right. Then I don't get to go to Denver. Right. Well, no, that's just a cover, though.
Starting point is 01:35:28 That's the point. It doesn't matter because we're going to pits. Okay. No, that's even better. The Philly line is now five and a half. What is having the extra point? Let's go. Jack, we're all taking the extra.
Starting point is 01:35:38 And you can switch sides if you want to you. No. At five and a half. No. Are you sure? What do you mean? No. You made your bet. I got five on like a three six five. You're like over here.
Starting point is 01:35:49 figured best out right now it just went in holy moly it is holy thanks right i'm just looking at the screen yes when i click on the game it has an updated number wow like has something happened that's it's something we don't know about i don't how and how can we not be on top i just i just click the button i got to admit i didn't even look at the number uh they're hearing our picks and they're moving the line oh i feel like i want the the five and a half now yeah we're going to allow and edit there. Jack, can we edit? Give Dean. Oh, yeah. This is never plus five and a half. I think you should do the
Starting point is 01:36:25 opposite, Dean, because that's worked better for opposite George. Just lay more points. Yeah. Sounds great. Okay. Philly minus five and a half. Now he's done the red thing. You have to go even. Do I have to, can I say it five at least? There you go. Those are our picks. You don't need to use them.
Starting point is 01:36:43 Might even recommend you don't. But that and more. This is one of the best weekends if you've kind of, you, oh, Beth's, I don't really get it. I've been, oh, Bet, 365. This is a great weekend to get in there and start kind of poking around during the game, props leading up to it. Parleys, awesome. I love the Bet365 app. It's so good. Literally, when we were doing the stream the other night, that's what I was watching because I was about 30 seconds ahead of our feed. Yeah. It was on there. Tell me what's going on. I know what's up. Cheater.
Starting point is 01:37:17 College football playoff tonight, Jack, who you got Oregon or Indiana? Oregon. So we'd have Oregon against Miami. Three years in a row, no SEC team in the final. That's wild. Do you guys see the game last night? It was exciting. Did not.
Starting point is 01:37:31 I saw you texting about it. Yeah. I was close late and I had to put idiots to bed, so it's busy. You just wait until we get older and dumber. That's going to be amazing. All that's left now is one of these. A little super chat to wrap things up here on your Friday. money raised goes to the youth centers of Calgary.
Starting point is 01:37:54 And in that trade-off, which I think is fair, we put your comments on the show. There's Scott Kerr, five bucks. Rob's bro. Cron has picked the Jags to beat the bills, doing this to spite Warner. Ret, due to Cron what Ray did to noodles, Cron is a softie, take him down.
Starting point is 01:38:10 Did he, now again... We're taking Scott Kerr's word for it. Did he take the Jags and just that's what he said, or did he mention, I'm going to do this because I want to spite Warner? Or are you reading it? I took a cheap shot at him the other day. Well, I think it's getting around, back and forth we go.
Starting point is 01:38:25 I think he took a couple cheap shots. This camera angles are you sitting? It's looked off. I don't know. Frame this probably? Well, there's one thing you can trust Krotter on in football. That's he's dialed in. Even though so many downs there most of the time.
Starting point is 01:38:42 He sits down there and watch the bills play all the time. Thank you, Scott. And he lived in Jacksonville, so, I mean, race that team. Do you play in these coastings? Is that what he played? He's just so biased towards the Jaguars. Thank you, Dad. Hey, you know what?
Starting point is 01:39:00 If you don't have anything nice to say, that's what you do. He's just don't say. There's a $10, handsome Dan vacation rentals in for $10 every time the flame score a goal this season. There's the 10. And I hope you know,
Starting point is 01:39:11 this is kind of like the Rob Ray Nudels thing. You know, I'm playing around. I'm not upset with you. Like, it's fine. You could say, whatever I say. Or if you're an idiot and sent the thing, it didn't type it. the message. That's fine too. It's on YouTube. It's not him.
Starting point is 01:39:24 Appreciate the 10 bucks. We fill. We fill. Five pounds. There feels like more chance that the New York Rangers tear it down to the studs before the flames do. It feels like Mucky Middle for the
Starting point is 01:39:39 foreseeable future. That's the nightmare fuel. I don't agree with you actually. I think again that the keys are out of their hand and it's going to happen. That being said, the Rangers aren't afraid to write a letter to their fans. They really aren't. And Chris Drury doesn't care about
Starting point is 01:39:55 people's emotions. No, no, no, no. He's a robot. You're our captain and your wife is a nurse in the city. See ya. See ya. See ya. You've got a no trade clause? That's fine. Let's put you on waivers. Pick them up, San Jose. Pack your shit is what they say in New York. Can't tell me. Yeah, you didn't say I could put you on waivers, jerk. See ya. See ya. See ya. Thank you. We, Phil. Wee Phil.
Starting point is 01:40:18 Bears fan, 85. Go Bears. F the Packers. Had a Boynir's fan. Good with that. It's authentic. 279. It's not forcing it. Not a lot of money there, but it's okay. But they win.
Starting point is 01:40:29 They're huge, actually. Blackfoot. What is the end of season looking like for us? I think it'll be a slow thaw. And then we're going to get snow in March and April again. A lot of melt freeze. Is it a hunting season? It's going to be messy till the 8th of June.
Starting point is 01:40:50 Oh, that's late. Good thing you got that car wash card. I know. Yeah. I think we finished 30th. Which pick might one of the few. They can't be this bad. Can they hate that coach?
Starting point is 01:41:13 Because they sure look. Comey doesn't like that coach. And we took a lot of heat when he talked about Babs. And at the end, it was like, yeah, Tommy was right. We'll see if he's two for two. Would Pete DeBore go to Winnipeg? You'd have to cut a huge job. Pete DeBore is going to have to.
Starting point is 01:41:28 resurrect his image in my opinion. I'm of the opposite of other people, maybe, in the opinion. The fact that he's been let go and run out of town this many times almost overshadows the fact that he's had some success. I think when you put him together, it adds to a big question mark. How do you get to the conference finals and they fired him?
Starting point is 01:41:49 Well, and with the comments with the Autinger, I get, but that's like the third or fourth time. Exactly. Like, so on here. When on guys? smell tests out there and it don't pass. Good to know. Good to know.
Starting point is 01:42:05 All right. That's it, right? Adino's got to go. Let's go. Jack, how was the show today? Very good. Very good. Great week. Pretty good week for the first week. It felt like a long week.
Starting point is 01:42:16 I don't know about you guys. Well, we probably started with a live stream on Sunday. That's why. Ah, right. And you did afterburners. Back-to-back games. It's been a long afterburners and game day every day.
Starting point is 01:42:26 It's a lot of things, especially for you. And you haven't been feeling well. No. How you go to school if you're not feeling well? Yeah, you should suck it up. So weekend, flames game on the Saturday afternoon. We're doing a live stream Monday night.
Starting point is 01:42:43 Pinders got to fill in for curling. And you have a like. Missing a practice, that's okay. It's a minor hockey week. So all the kids playing out there, go get them. I'm missing. Double knockout in the first game at least. Good weekend.
Starting point is 01:42:57 Everyone play hard. Go get them kids. It's the first. It's easier. Sometimes it is. It depends on your bracket. You really got to look at the bracket. You've got to win more games, but it gets to play more games.
Starting point is 01:43:06 Not a real. It's got to win two in the final. It's okay. You set the tone early. That's right. If you're ever around McNut, Saskatchewan, go and see Hazel at the McNut bar.
Starting point is 01:43:20 Get some cheesies. Yep, have some. Leave him over. Get two bags. Eat the first bag fresh. Open the other bag. leave it overnight, eat it, tell me what you're better. Really? That's D-U-G's thing.
Starting point is 01:43:32 Okay, stails them up. How about that. Stails them up. Small-town logic is what you got right there. Have a weekend. See you, buddies. Oh, Saskatchewan Small Town Bar. If your grandma's house and a bar somehow had a baby, this would be it.
Starting point is 01:43:47 And I mean that in the nicest, most sincere way. I mean, Grandma's House rocks, right? We're in McNutt, Saskatchewan today. It's just north of Langenberg. Shout out Jess Moskeloak. So ever since I see. started this small town bar thing, I have been getting a lot of requests, a lot of DMs to come to the McNut Hotel, and right when I walked through the front door, I could see why. Let's,
Starting point is 01:44:07 let's start with the giant wall of Hawkins Cheesy, shall we? Best wall ever? Yeah, I think so. So many other classic Saskatchewan green flags in here, they got the pistachio vending machine. Look at this old school hire sign from back in the day. They got old license plates, old beer bottles that somehow look brand new. Curling trophies, senior hockey jerseys, and softball jackets hung up and framed on the wall. We always talk about the chairs and the carpet on these things. The more vintage and retro the better and what a one-two punch we have here. These chairs are some real dandies, some absolute beutes. Uh, the back room has a steak pit, by the way, classic Saskatchewan. It also has animals wearing funny hats because why not. They don't just have
Starting point is 01:44:48 Hawkins Cheeses, by the way. They have like the best selection of snacks I've ever seen, including pre-made five-cent candy bags. And if you need some gas, just come to the bar. Now the photos at the front that you saw at the start of the video, that's just the tip of the iceberg. They have album after album, after album of just all these photos from back in the day. Photos of regulars, photos of Hazel's family. She's the owner and she's an absolute delight, by the way. Love chatting with her and Randy. What are the odds the guy from the sign on the bar is at the bar when I'm there, hey? Back to Hazel though, because people come from all over to eat the wings and the burgers here.
Starting point is 01:45:24 Since it had such a grandma's house feel, though, I felt like I had to get the soup. And the soup is dynamite, just like everything in this bar. Fellamove as soon as I walked in. Great bar with great people.
