Hello, buddies, how are we doing?
How's your summer?
How's things going?
You need lots of that aloeira for your sunburns and stuff.
Are you hydrating?
Don't be a water, Dodger.
Drink some water.
It's good for you.
Welcome to the show.
It is a presentation of Bet365 Canada hit the biggest home run of the summer.
Bet365 available in Alberta here to stay.
They're here to stay.
Download the app.
You must be 19 or older.
Please play responsibly a big, big summer for our good friends at Bet
365 as we are here in the McLeodlaw, LLP studios, got the, got the fish tank going.
Yes, it is.
It's a real, yes, it's a real fish tank.
Why would you even say it?
What will we talk about a special edition today?
You know how the summer works.
We do some live shows.
We kind of do some one-on-one interviews, some longer form stuff.
It's an opportunity to maybe try some different things and have some different content for you.
Today, we are in for a real show.
treat. He's not here, but he will join us in spirit and by way of the YouTube feed. Jamie
McLennan, former Calgary Flame, former NHL goaltender, now part of TSN, the broadcast crew, he does
afternoon radio, he does color commentary for the Ottawa Center as he goes on radio and TV and stuff
all over the place. He is a busy, busy man during the hockey season. He's also one of our
favorite people. There is, there's something about him that, uh, did, uh, did he's, um, did he's a busy,
just draws you in. He's just one of those guys. No one. Go ahead, try and find anyone who doesn't
like Jamie McLennan. I'll wait. Go ahead. It'll be a while. He's, uh, he's extremely funny. He has a
kind of an encyclopedic knowledge of dumb stuff, which works really great for our show,
obviously. Not in addition to that. If he's a very good analyst, obviously, he's very good at what he
does. He's one of the best. But when we get him on the show and we'll talk hockey.
We'll get into some certain things.
But I have to admit, I kind of always look forward to the, you know, ass grabbing, dumb stuff that we can get into.
Maybe it starts at the beginning of the conversation when we just sit down to get started.
Maybe it's at the end.
You throw them a little curveball before you say goodbye to them.
And sometimes you just never have a clue.
Why or how?
You sit there afterwards.
How did we end up there talking about, oh, right, because we went from here.
And then you kind of connect the dots.
Okay.
It still doesn't really make sense, but I'm glad we got to where we did.
every Wednesday on the Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating, guest hotline, crystal clear
calgary.com is the website, your crystal clear choice for home comfort. Something goes wrong,
your hot water tank, your furnace, your AC, whatever it is in your home, you need help,
you need help fast, it's Crystal Waters plumbing and heating. But every Wednesday,
Jamie McClennan joins us. Let's call this, everybody loves noodles. I'm not sure. It's the best
of Jamie McLennan. Not much. Just hanging out. You guys got me, right? If my,
phone good?
We got you. You're good.
See in the bag? What's going on here?
I'm trying to figure out like the best angle here.
Is that it? Or what?
They're all in it.
Should I go this way or is that better?
Ooh.
Ask Jack. Is this the better at me?
Leave it right there.
That looks fine.
Jack likes it.
Beautiful. Jack likes this. All right.
Yes, sir. So you think about it.
He was the guy on the.
Oh.
You can't trust.
just can't.
You just can't.
What's going on?
You got me?
Oh, you know.
He's back.
What happened?
It's stalled.
Yeah.
Okay.
I was like, all of a sudden, I saw faces.
I'm like, is this me or you?
Okay, let me, let me start over.
Where was I at?
Mitch Martin?
I don't know.
I, black.
Yes.
We called you last week on your birthday.
And there's a, there's an account on X that goes through us.
So here's former and current and just NHL or hockey people born on this day.
in particular history.
It's like, oh, look, there's noodles.
And they generally throw up one of their hockey cards or a photo.
And this is the one that accompanied Jamie McLennan and his birthday last week.
Oh, wow.
Look at the mullet.
Deadly.
Oh, yeah.
You look like a newborn baby chick.
You're all fuzzy.
I was just going to say like.
Disoriented.
You remember the stuff you put on your stick?
It was called dry grip.
That's what it was in my hair.
Like no gel, no nothing.
Always your ears and your nose never stopped growing.
See, my ears are about half the size right.
That's true, yeah.
I didn't notice that.
You are a bit older, hey?
Those are getting reggae size.
That's impressive.
Exactly.
I looked like Reggie there.
So who would have been playing in net that night?
Who were you backing up?
Exie.
Wow.
Yeah, that one.
And who knows?
Like I one time we were in St. Louis at that old building like the arena.
I think I've got a picture of it here in my office somewhere.
Jack won't let you show it anyway.
We can't be endorsing the city of St. Louis.
Anyways, but the backup goalie had to sit behind in the Zamboony entrance, behind St. Louis's net.
And we're about 10 minutes into the game and we're losing 3-0.
and Hexie, the wires crossed for Hexie, and he attacks Peter Nedved.
And I remember sitting there going, okay, this is not good.
And the bench is far, far away.
And I see Al Arbor, like, pointing to me, like waving me.
And I'm like, oh, my God.
So the Zamboni driver just pops it open.
And I got to skate out.
And Kujo goes, good luck, kid.
I skate by Kudjo.
And I go in.
And I remember being.
so things were so fast.
Adam Oates to Brett Hall, one-timer.
I was still looking behind the net,
and Holly had hit me in the shoulder.
I was like, oh, my God.
What a save?
Holy shit.
We ended up coming back and tying 5-5 that night.
You know, I remember that particular day in St. Louis.
They would bring out plated meals for you.
And like, so it wasn't a buffet.
You didn't go and get a chicken.
And there was a guy carrying out like four half chickens on a plate.
And he leaned over.
I used to sit with Hexie.
He leaned over to give Hexie or to give me one.
And he dumped the whole chicken on Hexie.
And Hexie, Hexie just looked at me and he said, you'd be ready.
I'm going to kill somebody tonight.
And sure enough, he was chasing 10 minutes in, he's chasing Peter Nedbet around.
Amazing.
Honestly, I'll never forget that.
He was, the waiter, the person who was serving was so rattled.
Oh, yeah.
And, heck, he had, like, this brand new suit on and the guy gets jumped a full chicken on it.
It's awesome.
These guys are giant men.
So it's just like everything about like giant heads, shoulders, everything.
Vasilevsky has, his just features are so predominant.
Like he's got this big head and his eyes are like a little bit like, like they're huge.
I can't explain it.
There's like a praying mantis.
That's what you're describing here.
Big, big man.
He's a nice guy.
And I love, he's actually one of like my favorite, favorite goaltenders of all time.
I've loved Vaselowski for years.
He's so talented.
and I got a chance to, you know, see him and watch him play the other day against Ottawa.
But, you know, Tampa's their team.
What they gave it away last night, didn't they?
Yeah.
Yeah.
But they're good team.
They're a good team.
But I think both of their, Annen and Vasilevsky's heads are about the same.
They're about the size of this TV right here.
Just take an envelope.
If you're going to Nashville, take your meal money and hand it to the guy at Tootze's and ask them to play
chicken fried 20 times in a row. That's what I did.
What I remember, I had a hundred things.
Chicken fried, how many times?
Yeah, no, it was 20. I was reasonable.
Well, my meal money had, it was a big envelope.
I had a per DM, eh?
I'd say, we were on a long road trip and I just said, here, you take this,
but you need to pay it play chicken fry 20 times in a row.
And they did it too.
Did people just love it or they want to kill you?
Well, the crowd went nuts by the end because everyone singing and like the guy held up the envelope.
And he's like, this guy has paid us this, you know, some money to play chicken five 20 times in a row.
Are you guys down for this?
And people are like, ah, it's awesome.
Like it's funny.
When you talk on shows, like our show and your show and all of these, like my wife will go, how was the show?
I'm like, I don't know.
Yeah, we did it.
I think you had a good show.
like you don't remember like you know when you talk so much you don't remember what you say you remember
it like you'll have a little spat here you have an argument here and you're like okay that was good like
let's move on type of thing and then all of a sudden you're getting phone calls going why you and he
red got heat i'm like what what are you talking about i'm like i don't even remember that i go and then
i think it was like a walman clip or something like that and anyways it was uh my buddy's remitment and
recalling going ah you know ret was really worked up about walman i said yeah it's his opinion
I said, that's what you're allowed to do.
I said, that's what we do.
We talk about, when you sit in front of a camera and talk and talk and talk,
you're bound to have disagreements, but you're also, you're allowed to voice your opinion.
That's why it's, it's called your opinion.
It's your, you're, like, that's, I never judge people for their opinions.
I was at lacrosse last night and the coach comes up because why are you shit talking lacrosse?
I'm like, I don't ever remember.
I don't ever remember saying the words.
So I did play in my.
Montreal. I've had two things happen in Montreal. One night, I played really, really well. And I think
the game was tied to all. We, we tied two all. Back then, I think I had 38 or 36 ties in my career.
So we played to a two, two tie. And they had this like famous writer there, um, Red Fisher,
whatever's like Red Kelly, Red Fisher Fisher. Yeah. But he was a jackass to people. And,
And I, you know, I remember he passed away like somewhat recently and everyone's like, oh, and I didn't like the guy.
The guy took a shot at me.
He was like this bum, you know, this bum, like the Canadians couldn't even beat this bum backup or whatever.
And I was like, well, who are you?
Yeah, hell with you.
Like, and I had, I got like a second star that night.
And I was, to this day, I still get mad when I think about it.
You feel the passion.
Yeah.
Yeah, but like I had a great game and I got a star.
I got some pigeon like giving me heck like oh this guy's a I'm like and of course everyone you can't
say anything bad about this guy and I'm like I'll say something bad I didn't like that that the guy
took a shot at me for no reason but apparently that was his stick would be rude to people so
I didn't like so that was number one and then number two I was playing for the St. Louis blues
and uh grant fear was starting and I had it
a few those shan shows the hot show steemies and i had one before the game or whatever
and then after the first period there was a box of them sitting there well where the goalie
the backup goaltender doesn't sit on the bench he sits across in an aisle they right by the
fans and i had one and i put it in my glove and i was you know kind of just watching the game and i
dig into my glove.
Well, apparently there was a camera up top that, you know,
it's in the sky.
It got a little,
so it got a little play.
And after the second period,
Mike Kitchen,
our assistant coach comes in and goes,
you know,
Hey,
Q wants to see you.
Joel Quimbo wants to see you.
And I was like,
oh,
maybe he wants,
you know,
a little advice of power play or what,
what am I seeing type of stuff?
And he,
like,
press his play,
like on the TV.
and it shows me just like eating it.
How'd that go?
The coaching staff is dying laughing because they're eating themselves.
Like, you know, huge, very funny guy, very funny.
And he goes, enjoying yourself out there.
And I'm like, yeah, I guess I am.
But he goes, like, anything to tell me?
And I'm like, no, I'm good.
And then shows me, he shows me eating a hot dog.
And I'm like, all right, I got busted.
He goes, they're really good, aren't they?
gave it for after the game.
I'm like, I got you.
So that was.
That's awesome.
And then my third story about that was Fierzy.
Fierzy had like four before I was starting that night.
And Fierzy said to me, like, how are you, Chama?
You feel okay?
And I'm like, yeah, I'm fine.
He goes, I've had four of those hot dogs.
So he goes, you better be good.
And I was like, all right.
So everybody loved those hot dogs.
So that was the forum and the bell center.
So there you go.
That Red Fisher.
He is, I mean, he was a very imposing figure.
This guy would strike fear in a lot of people.
Listen.
And listen, I don't want to speak ill of somebody who's passed.
And he was a Hall of Fame legend.
So keep in mind.
Like there's people that are probably going to come at me and go, how dare you speak?
I get that.
He was a Hall of Fame legend.
But you know what?
We all judge our opinions on our personal interaction.
I did not have a good interaction with him.
So I don't like I I'm not going to go.
Oh, well, you know, he treated me like garbage, but well, but he's a great guy or great, I could expect what he did for a living.
But I didn't like him.
I'm sorry.
Look at him in that nice little.
Oh, yeah.
Speaking of like you're one of the, well, you're the biggest show in the country.
I keep seeing these ads.
We love you.
What a show.
Don't be modest around.
Tell you.
Hard worker like you're a car.
Have you shown up drunk to your show?
Is that acceptable?
I'm just curious.
I mean, my show's at 4 o'clock.
I guess.
Yeah, but you could have went to lunch before.
No, no, I'm not a liquid lunch guy.
I just, I had this rule and it stems back to, you know, some of the mishaps I've had in my, we'll call it drinking career, is I'm not allowed to drink before 6 p.m.
You said at legend.
It's a new rule because I feel like I've been intoxicated with you on an afternoon shift.
I actually know I have.
We have, but that's my point.
And how it ended?
Not well.
I thought it was wonderful.
I don't remember.
Or geez, what happened?
Or, you know, why did Monty end up here?
You know, like, what happened?
Like, those are the types of things you're like, yeah, oh, we started drinking at 2 o'clock in Chicago.
Hey, we, you know, it was an afternoon.
Hey, we're going to have a few pre-drinks before we do a rookie dinner.
And you see how that went.
If you can see through the monitor, noodles has kung fu lessons that he's teaching.
I don't know what you're talking about.
I get a brand new sweater and people are just giving it to me.
Noodles is teaching kongi.
Mr. Miyagi.
Are you talking about
Johnny Kass?
What's wrong with this?
I get a new sweater that has, it's like a beautiful sweater.
It looks like it's got a tie attached to it and it's gorgeous.
You're getting kung fu.
You are literally, just so you know, you are giving an unbelievable answer about the Leafs.
This guy is.
texting me going, are you wearing a karate outfit?
That's what I'm talking about.
I'm wearing a sweater.
And I go, no, it's a sweater.
He goes, you look like Mr. Miyagi.
It's hanging right here.
I'm going to go get.
Wow, I didn't think we'd get a modeling session there.
This is great.
Just unfair.
Poor James.
They do take cheap shots.
You don't want to be so friendly and people just take advantage.
Likeable guy.
Look at that.
Wow.
How awesome is that shirt?
So good.
The best two grand you've spent,
noodles,
well done.
So when is the funeral?
Is it after the show or?
Isn't that awesome?
Yeah.
And people are like,
are you wearing Steph's blouse?
What is going on here?
That's,
I like it.
So I'm wearing the shirt today on the show,
for sure.
What's this guy,
dumpster guy doing here?
I'm dying.
Like,
when I go on the road to L.A.
And I walk Venice Beach,
like that is,
that's the guy who's,
like on the sand looking up at me and football and says, you know,
give me five bucks and I'll play football with you.
And he'd grab assing people on the on the catwalk.
Like it just, that looks like that's a shady human being.
If that like, if that goes to a job interview, that face like that walks in,
he gets escorted out of the building with security.
You look like a guy who's on like an acid trip or something with these,
those like glasses, those weird glasses.
I need to do that to get out of this thing.
What is it?
What is it?
What is it?
That's what it is.
Aaron Rogers does those journeys or whatever.
I did have one meltdown in St. Louis.
So I was playing for the Minnesota Wilde expansion team.
Okay.
And we're coming.
I'm going back to St. Louis where we'd won the president's trophy before.
Friends, you know, I love the guys on the team, everything, but I got taken an expansion.
and we were losing after the second period.
I want to say it was either 4-1 or something like that.
But we had given up 40 shots after two periods.
And I was like Denny Lemieux.
I came in and I was yelling.
I was like, wake the F up.
Like, what are we doing here?
Like screaming at the room.
And I think Jacques Lemaire pulled me.
So in Mercy Poll, he's like, you know, you're out, put in Manny Fernandez.
on the plane afterwards, I was sitting with Fred Flintstone.
Donald.
John O'Donnell.
And he goes, you know what I was thinking when you were yelling?
And I said, no, he goes, I thought we were playing pretty well.
He goes, 40 against that team.
That's a pretty, like, because St. Louis was a, you know, a killer of a team.
We'd won the president's trophy the year before.
He's like, 40 after two, that's a pretty good night, you know, considering what we are
and what they are. And I started laughing.
I just thought it was really funny. But
you know, in the moment,
I was very heated and embarrassed,
right? You're getting, you get
woodshaded on a team that
you came from. So I mean something to you.
Have a great. Fred Flintstone,
eh? Yeah. Oh, yeah.
He went at Halloween
for a Halloween party.
As Fred Flintstone, he didn't have a mask.
He just had the tie in the
orange shirt?
Orange shirt.
that that's that's that's odie he's the ohdie he's the one of the best like red you know him at all or no
i don't know him well everyone that does know him speaks highly highly highly such a great guy but yes so fred
flintstone he was the voice of reason on the way home on the on the flight after from st louis back
to minnie i'm in uh ottawa i did the game last night i'm doing the game tomorrow i ended up
just staying because i just had too much on my plate a couple meetings down at barefax
Yeah, hot date.
I haven't been there in a million years.
They're missing you.
The hell they didn't get you.
Say hi.
It's the same crew.
Probably.
They gave me a free tie once.
I wore it to the game.
Coach Lindy Ruff loved it.
Of course you did.
Free tie.
I love, I was listening earlier how you're, you always crap talk everybody.
Are you in trouble with everybody?
Yes.
Oh, yeah.
Why are you crap talking this and crap talking that, right?
You take these little shots at people and they take it personal.
I don't know.
It's weird.
You know, I'm on an expansion team and I'm sitting on the bench and Sean O'Donnell is sitting beside me.
You know, his nickname is Fred Flintstone.
He looks exactly like Fred Flintstone.
So I look at him.
What's up, Fred?
And he was laughing because he goes, look at what's on the ice right now.
We're playing Colorado.
Okay.
Colorado had a power play.
And I think our payroll.
close to the deadline was we'll call it i i'm not i'm not exaggerating maybe 15 million and i was
making a million of it which is way too much what i was and you're on the bench what the hell
that night so but colorado had like 45 million dollars on the ice it was like
blake patrick waugh like it was ridiculous and he leans over to me he goes look at this nonsense
He goes like
He goes, look at that on the ice
And look at, he goes, look at this bench.
And what's going on today?
How are your Oilers?
My old.
Yeah, your big oil guy.
They're fine.
No, they're not fine.
They're shit.
What are you talking about?
We'd love to pile on here.
Damon Langkow could eat McDonald's every day of his life and be 5% body fat.
It was ridiculous.
It's true as well.
Yeah.
I still think he's jack.
I would look at a Big Mac and I'd look like Professor Clump.
Remember Eddie Murphy?
A nutty Professor.
The nutty Professor.
Arrow's lazy.
Like that shouldn't have been on that.
Like arrows are lazy.
Hey, look.
Bad work ethic.
Chocolate with bubbles in it.
Yeah.
Alex Simon.
What's what we got there?
I feel like if Kit Kat doesn't take down Reese.
Yeah.
I mean, that's a great match.
That's a heavyweight matchup.
Yeah.
Coffee Crisp and O. Henry, like, I don't know.
Oh, Henry.
always to me, I felt
that Crunchy should get a little bit love
because O'Henry always looks like
a dump. If you take it right out,
if you take it right out
the wrapper and you put it on the counter,
it looks like somebody took a dump on the calendar.
So, Rollo,
here's, I don't know why
score didn't get enough.
I'm with you. A tough matchup of Twix, I know.
I'm with you. I mean, there's some great ones
there. Crunchy, I really love.
Oh, Henry, I get it.
Mars, I don't know, nah.
I'm fine. I could leave the Mr. Big and O. Henry, they're kind of the same for me.
I like anything with caramel in it. So Rollo and caramel. Coffee crisp, it's just a traditional.
I feel like that people would have that with drinking tea in the afternoon.
Totally. Yeah. Crumpets and tea and coffee crisps.
Coffee crisps. It's just recent kick that is a heavyweight matchup. They should be against each other in the finals, not with the.
Yeah. That's like Dallas and Colorado.
Stink of Batman with this goddamn playoff format right now.
The Pacific Division is Coffee Crisp and Old Henner.
The pillow fight.
That's right.
This is Jamie McLennan.
What is this?
Is this high school?
Is what am I looking at here?
And he's shot.
And he or she, I don't want to say sent two copies of it.
So there's the sweater, there's the tie.
There's the hand on, the chin on hand.
A lot going on there.
The grin.
The blonde hair.
So I was playing for the Lethbridge Hurricane.
And then the Zoom.
Is this?
So I was playing for the Lethbridge Hurricane.
And in the playoffs, we dyed the left side of our hair blonde.
So I don't know why.
But I went home.
I don't know if I told you guys this.
Like I did only two years of high school.
I finished high school in two years.
That's true.
Because I did correspondence.
Why do you keep that up there? Put that down. It's staring at my...
No, no, this is good. Keep it right there. Jesus. But I wanted to come home to St. Albert and graduate
with my friends. So I showed up a picture day. There was nothing. So I borrowed my best friend,
Trevor Ketsa's sweater and a tie and everything. And I just put it on and we did like a glamour shop.
So that was really my hair. I had a feather air dew. And there was, you know,
look at the size of the ears. You're getting bigger. Every year, they get bigger.
The blonde was the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
We did it for the playoffs.
But none of that outfit was mine.
It was one of my best buddies.
You were wondering, was it shaved?
Like, did you take it down?
Did you have a shave to the wood there?
But it was like blonde instead of gray.
I see.
Gorgeous.
You look great in pastels, noodles.
I got to tell you.
You should work those in a little more.
You should throw that on the show one day.
That was an expensive sweater.
My buddy had money.
And he, I was like,
let me borrow your sweater.
So I put that sweater on.
I don't even know if it fit me.
So did he go topless or did he just has a collection of sweaters hanging around?
I think I was wearing like a tie.
I don't know what I was wearing, but that.
Let's put it back up, Jack.
Yeah.
Well, that's my, there's an excuse for it.
And the internet lives forever.
My son and my kids will discover that at some point and I'll have an answer for it,
but not right now.
So there's a bunch of guys playing hockey.
You ever get roped?
into, not roped into, but play hockey anymore?
No, I drew my pads in the river when I retired.
Yeah.
Which river?
I don't know.
I can't remember.
The North Saskatchewan, it's right in.
Beautiful.
Yeah, it's beautiful.
A shopping cart at the bottom of the North Saskatchew.
I mean, I don't, I don't play hockey anymore.
I don't know.
I retire.
And that's it.
I don't know how many times people will be like, hey, can you come out on a Tuesday at
midnight.
No.
I'm like, no, I'm not doing that.
I don't play goal.
The last thing I want is people shooting at me.
And then you get the weekend heroes that, oh, hey, we got an NHL goaltender.
I used to be.
I'm not anymore.
I don't have the reflex.
Guys are going to rip one at my head and I got to dive out of the way.
I'm not having it.
It'll be full clown show here in Calgary this weekend because you get a bit of a drunk downtown
office folk playing against NHL guys.
So excited.
Giving her shit.
What happened is there's some hero that'll hit somebody from behind and then the
NHL guy will snap and beat them up.
And then it's the Nick Tarnaski in the golf tournament.
Yes.
That's right.
I look forward to the Robin Reggear video.
That'll be Robin Regier or Rhett Warner has an incident, whoever is playing.
And you'll be a internet sensation.
I watched Reggie be the sheriff one time at one of those Jerry Bruckheimer tournaments.
where everybody is oiled and sheldon surrey was taking one timers from the point and one buzzed
tower i was playing d i didn't play net they wouldn't allow me to play in net so it went between
me and reggie's face and this is that like 10 o'clock in the morning on a you know on a sunday
morning after we haven't gone to bed reggie was irate and then there was some other you know
some actor that was dipty doodling and reggie decided to just plant him into the boards and i felt
bad for that guy because he it was basically reggie sent a message like knock it off and this guy was
dinking around out there and reggie was like i'm not having it i'm going to send a message and he just
buried this guy and i was an extra in mystery alaska sit down i could see the guy's face i don't know
I've seen him in movies and stuff.
I can't remember his name, but he paid the price for some people acting up out there.
Every, regardless of any city and the Buffalo people were out of control.
Did you see the guys that were fighting the wrestling dummy?
Listen, we love you.
But I'm just going to have to ask you to push pause on this as a normal behavior.
This is an Edmonton thing.
Oh, you guys just want me to hate on Edmonton.
No, no, no.
Just for 20 minutes a week.
We believe in, you're a professional and you give an honest opinion.
And now you, now it's the typical Edmontonian.
I got to stand up for Edmonton.
It's normal.
Our buddy, our sales guy said, yeah, when the ladies are fighting, that's good.
That's normal.
What hell are you talking about?
Three years from now, when we're having this conversation on this show and the flames
are deep in the playoffs, you're going to see fights.
But that's a good thing.
We'll be talking about, hey, did you see what happened outside the living room?
I went to 22, and I didn't see a fight.
Anyway.
There is no one else like him.
He is a unicorn.
Is that what he like being called that?
I think that probably works because it's majestic, but also a little different, which sets him apart.
We will take a break, but more noodles next.

I did kind of feel bad because I kind of put some of these clips together.
And it's not to make him look bad or foolish.
I think over the course of the winter, we have some very good conversations.
It's really, really good hockey talk, as good as you're going to find.
It's felt kind of boring right now, you know, middle of summer, go back and some old moldy hockey takes.
No, some more dumb stuff with Jamie.
yesterday I guess was an anniversary of sorts for you right congratulations I did see that
2007 what to play the puck oh my god oh my gosh that's a whoopsie daisy that's a that's an
accidentally that's a daisy on and and listen I had I've said this before I can you could you
just break this down for us so because we see the score it's 5-1 Detroit lot
In the top corner there.
The ref has his arm in the air already because I'm getting a slashing penalty because I was slashing away in front of the net.
The puck goes behind the net.
I touch it.
You see who, or what's his name?
Franz is fading towards me.
I thought he was going to sucker me.
I swear on my life.
I slash him on the right pant, the right pant, not the face, not the shoulder, not his stomach, the right pant.
He drops.
like I shot him
and I got five games
Jimmy you know we got find
all of this type of stuff I've apologized
I've spoken to Johan
a few times
I've you know that's not in my character
he should be apologizing to you
but the thing is is I talk to him too
I asked him and he asked me point blank
he's like what were you thinking watch the angle of here
I hit him on the right pant
Pants.
Not anywhere near the face anything.
No, it was higher.
Look at his pants.
Did you get them in the in the bals?
Yes, on the right side of it.
The thing is stupid by me and I need, there's the slashing penalties.
Watch the arm go up on the second one.
There it is.
So I was trying to stir it up already.
I don't know how I fell down.
Oh, well, you're, you know.
But anyways, I got it.
I got the slash.
And I deserve the suspension.
I had no business being on the ice.
People, I will say this.
People thought that Jimmy Playfair sent me in to do that.
He did not.
Jimmy Playfair was most.
Those refs were horseshit that game.
Absolute garbage.
So in my defense, I do remember my, my suspension call.
Because Darrell, that was a Saturday afternoon game in Detroit.
We played Sunday at home.
The refs were hungover.
We played back to back.
And that game was in Calgary the next game.
And it was on the Sunday the day after.
So we flew home that afternoon.
And I remember Darrell saying you have a call with the league at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning to determine if you're suspended.
And Rico came in.
Rich Preston came in and said, you got five games and a fine.
And Jimmy Playford got fined $25 grand.
And I remember Jimmy would be like, you just took a C-Doo away from my kids.
That's what he said.
Anyway, my point being is two things.
I, it wasn't malicious.
It looked, it was stupid by me.
I apologized.
I've spoken of Johan since.
He said the biggest thing.
I said, did I hurt you?
He goes, no, you surprised me.
Well, he is surprised laying there.
But I, you know, at the end of the day, I shouldn't have done it.
And Jerome McGinlow was trying to fight Matthew Schneider in that game.
And Brett Lefda had taken out Damon Lankow's knee.
And Lankow was chasing him around the ice.
That's why I was trying to stir it up.
We were losing and I wanted to get a line brawl going.
Are you done?
Because this all ties you.
Huh?
I just one last thing on the way out.
But then you're good.
Well,
you kept me another 20 minutes.
This kind of all,
see,
this ties all together for me,
because how do we start at the segment?
Was a discussion about Edmontonians
and their love of violence.
Yeah,
you are from,
and this is just another example
of what we're talking about.
Yeah,
so it's normal.
You're right. You're right. Like I was seven years in Calgary, they almost got it out of me.
They almost got me to grow up in the three years in in Lethbridge.
I mean, it just.
Resorting to violence.
Yeah, I don't like how things are going, so I'm going to smack you.
I earned that suspension, and I'm embarrassed of it, and I have to tell my kids about it.
My son has watched it.
It's sad, but I, you know, stupid things, and I hope that I'm a better person nowadays.
I've apologized.
There's nothing else I can do.
I get once a year I get notes from Detroit fans still on Twitter that I've had a lot saying you're an idiot I still hate you and I'm like that happened in like 2008 like let me live my life so uh Josh Anderson Sasquatch
Mutant Nick Paul Mutant and Sabrin contest winner well I just wanted to make sure we have all that one away from Sabron because that I was more of a comment not like I wasn't a shot it's the contest winner is out you get
That's not what I meant.
No.
It was like this guy got called up or got put in.
You get an opportunity to get into the game.
So take the contest winner.
Do not put that in anywhere where I get radio.
You guys have brought me in enough trouble this year.
The one thing that can be said was that Sean Donovan went Christmas shopping that day
and showed up at Noodle's house, I believe, with this gift for his wife.
Five o'clock.
The party was to start at six, and he said, I got to go to Chinook and get tree a Christmas.
I think your name is Treesick, correct?
Yeah.
Got to get tree a Christmas present.
So he showed up at 5 o'clock.
It was me, Rett and Robin sitting at the house.
And Dono Rose then at 5 p.m. and goes, I bought her a sewing machine.
Oh, jeez.
Oh, I mean, hockey players could be dumb, but that is next level dumb.
It was also.
though and you know what we he was we shouldn't have had that extra hour before everybody
that's the problem because he was frank the tank by the time six o'clock road rolled around
it didn't take gone along to turn into frank that was good stuff so fun he made a margarita in my
kitchen with no lid on it so it was not i don't think i was at that party i was doing something else
and you showed up at my house and dragged me out.
We did.
I remember that.
What were you doing, Red?
I was concussed.
I had a concussed.
And we were concerned about him.
So we was all right.
And we went and grabbed him right out of the house.
Literally, fireman carried him over to our place or to the bar, to the bar.
That's where it was.
We went to the bar, yes.
Then the stories we cannot speak of.
I'm not convinced that's not the night that we were, me and my little buddy were in the back of a
cop car.
Well, no, that was another night.
Was it? Okay.
Yeah.
I wasn't sure.
Well, there's a time change between Calgary and Winnipeg.
Is that right?
There's also a time change between Winnipeg and Toronto.
I don't know.
We kind of walked through that.
I was texting you, Boomer.
This is why I got all turned around.
I had three major things I had to do this morning, as well as my workout.
Yeah.
And I was talking to my financial guy and I had it marked in my calendar.
1130, I'm on with you guys, okay?
For some reason, that clock was all screwed up.
And I'm like, I'm running late.
And he's like, you're not on for another hour, you idiot.
And I was like, okay, fair enough.
Old Ronnie boy here.
This guy's an everyday hero.
He's a firefighter.
And we had a drunk loser in Prince Albert trying to steal some booze from behind the shelf
in the bar we were at.
And Ronnie just slapped that bottle right out of his hands and just get the hell out of it.
Ronnie Ronnie boy rum is that where we're dealing with yeah if you look old Ronnie by
firehouse spice drum jack you got to put the camera on me so people can see it if you look closely
it's got the captain Morgan top on it so I yeah wonder if maybe they're copy right slout the label
on a bottle but nonetheless I told this story on air yesterday I did not say a name but I said I had
a buddy that once streaked across the
CFL field and went and jumped in the hot tub.
Remember, there was a hot tub in the end zone.
I said, stadium is this?
The hot tub?
There was a hot tub in the end zone, I believe it was in Saskatchewan.
Well, there was on in Edmondson.
They had.
Well, and I said, I had a buddy that did that.
And I believe he spent the night in the clink.
I don't know.
I can't remember what happened.
But these things happen.
The CFL fans, they're passionate.
Yeah, your memory is.
getting foggy, hey, James?
Yeah.
Yes.
Naked streaker. They brought a
horse. So, like, I don't know if
you know this CFL tradition.
There's always a horse that
like shows up. Calgary.
The Calgary. It's a stampede.
After touchdown, the horse runs. But this
horse was from Ontario. We met
yesterday. Tessler. Tuffy.
Tuffy. We met tough. Animals don't like me.
And it was giving me like the side, the horse
side eye. I was like, oh, God. It's kind of
horses are.
Yeah, he gave me the horse side.
But I went and Pet Tuffy and O'Don got a picture.
We got a picture with the horse.
They brought the horse to the Boston pizza.
And we hung out with it for a second and then it moved on.
But where we talked about it is years ago, I think like 10 or 11 years ago, they had the
Grey Cup in Toronto.
And we were at the Royal York Hotel, one of the nicest hotels in Toronto.
We were on the second floor and looking down to the long.
lobby and I looked down and there was a horse in the lobby.
That's a tradition as old as time that they bring the horse into the Royal York.
And I said, there's a horse downstairs.
And the, the doormen were beside themselves.
There was like a guy on a horse from in and, and I'm like, this horse is going to take a dump in the
middle of the lobby.
And it was outrageous.
Great cut noodles.
Come on.
It's burned into my mind.
There was a horse in the lobbies.
I did not start them.
I've told you guys this story.
Have I not?
You guys don't know the story of how I save Commonwealth Stadium.
Next week.
It's going to be good.
I could tell this is,
what a cliffhanger.
If you want me to go,
I've got three minutes before I got to go.
Let's go.
Good luck.
Okay.
So when I was from 16 to 19 years old,
I worked for the Edmonton Eskimos for two weeks,
every training camp in June because I was close with Dwayne
Mandruzak, their equipment guy and Robbie Strecker.
So I knew them. They would pay me like 500 bucks or whatever and me and Joey Moss would do their laundry. So they did two days. I would drive over in the Eskimos truck from Commonwealth Stadium to I think it was Concordia College where they were practicing. We would take their underwear, drive it back, wash it, dry it, fold it, and then bring it back for the second one. Bring that stuff back, wash it, dry it, and I'd leave for the day. So Joey would stay there. I would drive it back to Commonwealth.
wash it, dry it, fold it, and bring it back.
But I would have Commonwealth Stadium to myself.
So I would run the stairs.
I would train.
I'd run the stairs, run the track, do whatever.
They had a gym.
I'd watch TV.
And you're doing laundry.
I was the laundry boy for two weeks.
And I heard, I was sitting there on the phone watching TV.
And I heard this like crash.
So I go into the laundry room.
They have these giant like washers, giant dryers.
and I was drying the laundry.
And it was, you know, those big, you know, big circle drums.
And a spark came out with this ring and it was like floating in front of me.
And I could see there was like a fire.
So out of nowhere, the door pops open and sparks come flying out.
And I was wearing a long sleeve shirt.
And it lights me on fire.
So I stop, drop, and roll.
And I get myself out of being on fire.
But now the laundry thing was spinning and the laundry keeps falling into the fire.
So it takes off.
So a fire takes off.
So I'm the only guy.
So I run, I call 911 and I go fire at Commonwealth Stadium, Eskimos dress room.
I hook up a garden hose in their bathroom and I run it back in.
And it's just like missing water out.
And I'm fighting this fire.
And my arm was on fire and there's soot everywhere, black smoke.
And all of a sudden, the fire department come and they just.
Boom, put it out over my shoulder.
But I had my foot all over.
My shirt was burned off.
And I saved Commonwealth Stadium from like from burning to the ground, basically.
I saved it.
That's unbelievable.
Wow.
The article in the paper next day said Eskimo's laundry goes up and fight.
Some of those guys lost their laundry because it.
Oh, gosh.
Yeah.
Undy's lucky ones.
So was it all success.
Well, it was a success.
I mean, you would rather lose the whole.
stadium, but I mean, I, I fought, and the weirdest thing is I was supposed to go out drinking with
my buddies that day. And, and I got home and I had like stood all over my face and my, my sleeve was
burnt off. I had to shower up and change before we went out drinking. I thought you were going to say
the weirdest thing is that you didn't go out, but I'm glad that you fall through.
I just casually rolled over that he didn't start the fire, even though it was the dryer.
Yeah. I didn't start. Why would I? Yeah, someone else is on dryer duty, right?
bulky wiring there you go this flaming ring is floating in the air just out of nowhere this ring comes flying out
and i was like what is that but then you could see there was a fire going on behind it and then the door just popped
over you're just lucky they didn't have cameras back then you're probably
when the goaltender uh when the goaltender uh needed a helicopter ride
in Vancouver.
Were you with him in the helicopter,
or were you at the bus?
And it's like,
Noodles, where's your buddy?
You were in charge of your buddy.
I was not on the copter,
but I was responsibly on the bus,
but terrified of the timing of all of that.
And then how he showed up,
not looking healthy.
Healthy.
There were some weird things going on.
Right.
Yeah.
I wasn't aware he had the, he had the helicopter service as well.
No, I left earlier.
That's the problem.
I left earlier because I was responsible human.
And no, I, yeah, there was, that whole, that was a blur.
I'll just, I just remember out of all of that, somebody got their, you know, you're going one day road trip and you bring one suit.
and one of the guys decided to rip the arms off the guy's suit
so he goes to get on the bus to get on the plane
and he had no suit
and he came on with his dress shirt on
and was firing lasers at me
and I was like what's your problem and he's like you ruined my suit
I said why would I go think about this
and he goes
Kipper told me you ripped the arms off of my suit.
I said, oh, okay.
Well, hell then.
Case closed.
So they ripped the arms off of his suit and blamed it on me.
So he owed me $1,000.
I said, that wasn't me get the right person.
And then the two guys that did it were hiding at the back of the bus laughing.
So anyways, that's the, you can't leave your, that's the problem with guys who are idiots.
They leave their dress, you know, you leave your dress coat at a bar on a hook or something like that, and guys mess with it.
They don't just tie the arms anymore.
Now they'll rip the arms right off.
You know what?
I'm embarrassed to say this, and I'm not lying.
I swear on my kids, I did not go out last night, which is sad.
It's sad.
Remind people where you are.
I made it in in time, but I've had a really,
weird week.
I did a game Sunday in Detroit
the night before literally at midnight
my flight got canceled so I had to
drive in, drive back.
Monday night flying to Columbus
the catering truck
hit our plane so
they had to cancel
they had to cancel the flight
and I had to go back home.
In midair? No no. I mean
before we're even backing out
catering some moron
moron driving a truck decided to drive into the
tail of the plane. And so then they canceled that flight. So then I had to fly into,
you go back home, you know, fly out at 6 a.m. into New York, into Columbus, call the game,
then fly to Chicago yesterday into Nashville. So I was so tired. I wanted to just go sit at
Legends and have a beer, but I ended up, I watched the Leaf game, I watched the Flames game,
and I had a good sleep. So tonight I'm going to go to Tutsis. All right. Okay. Well,
at least as long as you got a couple nights there. It's because you didn't have,
a wret with you. If you had a
warner with you, that would never have happened.
I love your discipline noodles.
Yeah, he would have dragged me down.
He would have said, I don't care if you had sleep or not,
you're coming with me.
And I saw him one time,
take his belt, link it to
another teammate's belt loop,
and walk him into the bar because the guy
wanted to leave.
That's like towing. That's amazing.
That was a great move back in the day.
He would take his belt off and he would just
loop it into another person's belt loop,
and then they'd be joined at the hip.
That was it.
No stopping them.
You're going to ruin your pants here with me.
Two step.
Whatever.
It was worth it.
You know that Nashville has the best popcorn in the league, right?
I did not know this.
Number one on my depth chart.
Number one.
Really?
Power rankings one slot popcorn.
Whoa.
Are you including the one or there's like two specific popcorn spots at the dome
that do the hand buttering?
No, you've seen the guy on Instagram
that does the rolling of the tub
and the water, you know, the butter and that.
No, I just go to a spot where, right by our color place,
and it's fresh, they've got butter, and it is a tub.
And I eat it like I am going to the electric chair.
It is so good.
It's my last, I eat it like it owes me money.
I'm telling you, it is so good.
It's number one.
on my depth chart.
I remember forgetting my helmet for my mask
for practice one time in the minors for Jimmy Roberts,
the gritty old coach.
And we were off-site practicing at some place
called Lakeshore in Worcester, Massachusetts.
And I forgot my mask and our trainer, JC,
was bringing it over.
He started practice and he said, get in the net,
and he just yelled to the group, keep it down on this end.
So I was standing in the net making kids,
His knives are shooting from the blue line, the long stretch plays.
And we had a French guy named Marquis Mathieu, who wasn't paying attention, came down the wall, took a slap shot.
Boy.
About, you know, hip height, a little higher.
And I was, like, so terrified making saves.
And then they delivered my mask, and he skated over, and he goes, it's like a soldier going to war without a helmet.
I said, yeah, fair enough.
And then we had another guy named Freddie Kniepshire, who, Freddie Knobscher forgot his skates.
made Freddie and runners run the whole practice.
So we were doing three line breakouts.
There's Freddie,
the center man on the ice.
I thought you made he was running the stairs.
They put him on the ice and runners.
See,
this is the fun stuff you're talking about us to do it.
Ran the whole practice.
The whole practice for Roomball on the ice.
Freddie Kniepshire would run.
Like that was team building.
Jimmy's like,
you don't want to,
you don't want to have your skates.
he's like you're running on the ice.
So he would be running down the wall, get a pass, shoot on the net.
Everyone would wait for him to get in line, then we would keep going.
Before we let you go, kind of a crazy story came up late last week.
Unfortunate incident in Chicago involving the New Jersey Devils.
And I mean, you played for a long time.
I'm not sure.
But was there ever in your career a time when maybe you're at a team dinner or rookie dinner or something?
an unfortunate incident
where there's some, you know,
someone gets cut or there's, you know,
stitches. All I could think about when this
poor Jack usually said he slipped and fell
on a cup, I'm like, did he do
a table dive with no pants on?
He's got to go, Jack.
He's out of time.
We've been waiting for this all week. What are you talking about? We got lots of time.
Noodles is, he goes to L.A. tomorrow.
Luckily, there's a doctor in the pyramid.
I just remember the face looking up at me,
gone, I think I'm cut, chum. I'm like, I remember, you're cut. It was like a Monty Python.
It was the blood shooting out of his hand and out of his, his thighs, because you had only your
underwear on. And there was almost an artery cut on your leg.
Table dive that you literally, instead of going like this across the table, you just landed
on it like that.
Belly flop.
Belly flop.
Dye.
Bigel flop.
Oh, Gus Thor.
Thoris just sprinting for the door.
Gus was so mad at you because he had just gotten his steak and lobster and Rhett's armpit was in it.
It was unbelievable.
Well, didn't you say, Iggy was the, like, five room to everyone's deal.
But didn't you get yours first?
Yes, I ate my steak and joked on the table.
You made sure that you got yours.
Yes.
And you just bring mine early.
And you hovered it and then made your wardrobe change.
It felt like an episode.
Remember fast times at Ridgemont High when that car.
gets ruined and Spicoli goes relax my dad has an awesome set of tools that's what that's what the
owner said he's like relax I know this doctor and the doctor showed up and was sewing him up in the
kitchen and my god they might have had to burn that place to the ground they did burn it down they
set it on fire for insurance oh yeah they did allegedly allegedly allegedly I can I
can I trust you
Okay, or you could grab it.
It's not called Stackshot.
It's called Hockey Abstract.
This is it.
There is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Where's your book?
I don't know.
Grab your book.
That's the one.
That's the one I want it.
I've read it and I would like to read it again, actually.
No, you don't want mine.
I do.
No, I forget how I.
You know what book you want?
This book.
This is crazy.
Oh, here we go.
The Iceman.
Read that.
Loodles Book Club.
No one's going to be putting Jamie on a book selling tour.
He'll go around to promote his book and start pimping other books.
No, it's here.
Yeah, you don't want to read this.
I may have given it away.
I don't know.
It's called Best Seed in the House.
I think people have read it.
And a nice, you wrote it with a friend in mind, right?
Yes, my buddy Mace, who passed away.
This is, but the proceeds go to that.
And yeah, I mean, Mace was the best.
Can we still buy it?
Can you get it?
You can get it.
Go on Amazon.
Yeah, you go on the Amazon.
It might cost you six bucks.
If you like Jamie, you'll love the book.
It's all.
We've got some funny stories.
It's a great book.
It's tremendous.
It's a good, like when I joke about it, I think it's a great book.
If you're sitting on the John and just like need some funny stories type of thing.
Enjoy the baseball.
What's the name of the book?
Mine?
Yes.
Best seat in the house.
Best seat in the house.
Go get it.
But there's another guy that has one, and he's in a wheelchair, though.
So it's kind of a weird one.
Like, if you look it up online, there's like two guys.
And one guy's like, it's not, yeah.
You just broke Jack.
Anyways, we'll chat later.
I got to go.
See you.
There he is, our buddy noodles.
Is it any wonder that he, it sounds like he couldn't, you know, like he couldn't play a goal?
He lasted in the National Hockey League for a long time because he was a good goaltender.
but also because the other guys that he played with,
the number ones,
Mika Kiprasoff, Roberto Luongo,
like he played with some guys who loved him.
It's like, yeah, keep noodles around.
He's got to be my tandem guy.
He's got to be my guy.
It's not just be good.
It's the message you take from all of this,
aside from all the dumb stuff.
Just be good people.
Just be good people.
Be nice to people.
Take a joke.
Fire it back.
Have some thick skin.
Have some fun out there.
Have some fun with life.
We'll take another break.
The next segment, I guess it would have been November-ish,
partly because it's,
Buffalo Sabres were in town.
Flames were playing the Buffalo Sabres,
and things weren't going well for the Sabres.
Whenever the Sabres are here, Rob Ray comes in.
And we have a good little visit.
He's been a friend of the show for a long time as well.
And, well, it was harmless.
It was not by design.
It seemed very harmless at the time.
But as it turned out, some things got said,
and some sleepless nights for our old buddy noodles were about to follow.
Just stay there. It's coming up.

So I had mentioned about this.
Rob Ray was in around November sometime and came in for a visit.
And we were just having, you know, we were just shooting the old, the old poo around as you do.
And I happened to mention Jamie's name.
And Rob Ray had a certain reaction to hearing Jamie's name, which set into, uh, it was, there was a chain of events that, uh, began to take place.
And I side, I'll let you decide. Who's guilty? Who's innocent? I just thought it was good fun.
I'm a hard out at 1 o'clock because I'm going into the witness protection program because
jackasses started a fire online.
So what is in the consequences of your own actions?
You've got what, what's happened here?
You guys have put a quarter into Rob Ray all the sudden.
No, what's happened is you've been running your mouth for years and years, foot loose and fancy free.
Just no repercussions.
You got Chris Simon behind you.
you got Olawa, you got Proger, you got Tony Twist in St. Louis.
You've been running things for too long, just shooting your mouth off.
And finally, it's come home to Roos, Noodlers.
It's coming back to get you.
Well, let's take a look.
This happened two days ago on this very program.
Who's that?
Jamie McLennan.
I got a problem with him.
Yeah.
Because he called you big head.
Called me a mascot head.
And I will see that guy.
I'll write that too.
Mascot head.
He took something that would.
It was funny, personal.
Take this clip.
And that will be addressed.
Noodles.
Oh, dear.
First and foremost,
I went back and watched the show.
Context important.
Yes, unprompted.
Okay.
Yeah, because I went back and watched the show.
I was like, what is the context?
How does this come up?
And then, you know, Boomer, you're like, yeah, you know,
No, Noodle says that GMs have to be a sociopath.
And he's like, who's that, noodles?
And then afterwards, I was waiting for him to be like, yeah, he's a good guy.
You know, like, like, like, like, feathers.
And, like, people are sending me, like, is this like a school bully that wants to beat you up after school?
I'm like, I'm sitting there going, I think I owe him a phone caller a text because I don't know when I said it.
I will never, I'm not denying it because I'm sure I said it.
I've made jokes about him being a big dude.
One time we were in the, in the benches, in between the benches.
I was going to say, Jamie, I think it was on this show where you had said you were both between the benches and how, is either that or when he got hit with the puck and you said, well, yeah, look at the size of the targets.
Yes.
Yes.
But, okay.
So I've seen him since.
and like every time I see him, good conversations in that.
So I was like wondering, is there context or is somebody said something worse or is he heard?
Like did I get AIed or something like?
Let's take another look because, you know, like you say, maybe he's a funny guy, right?
Very funny.
Very funny guys.
It's probably tongue and cheek.
Let's just see if we can, does it feel like he's fooling around?
Let's take just one more.
Take it down.
Take the paper.
who's that Jamie McClennon I got a problem with him yeah because he called your big head
called me a mascot head and I will see that guy I'll write that too mascot head he took
something that was funny personal take this clip and that will be addressed
noodles so I was just looking at the schedule here's the problem I
I'm going to be between the benches with him like in 10 days.
December 23rd.
His last game before Christmas.
Nudis is going to have black eyes showing up to the Christmas Eve dinner.
I'm going to issue a formal apology on every show that I'm going to be on.
And I'm going to have it clip and sent to him because I think he's a funny guy.
I think he's joking.
But I was like, what bothered me about this is both of you guys didn't follow up.
Boomers like, oh, we'll just leave it there.
and move on.
Well, it felt like something that just needed to be let go.
Well, you don't want to get in the way.
Because you know what it wasn't?
Because at the end, he does the noodles.
Yeah.
And I was for you guys to go, he's great.
He owes me cheese toast.
We love them.
We have them on every Wednesday.
Yeah.
And you guys are like, okay, we won't talk about him anymore.
Let's go with us.
And I was like, okay, where's my friends going, no, he's great.
Don't talk like that.
You know, like it was like, no, no, no, nothing to see here.
You're right.
We hate his guts.
Yeah, you're right, Rob.
That was off sign.
That was unfair of him to say.
Well, the juice is running on that cheese toast.
I don't know.
Maybe there's a lesson in here, noodles.
You know what?
And I, I, if it's, if I don't think he's serious, but if he's serious, I owe him an
apology.
And either way, I owe him an apology.
Just to make sure that he didn't take that personally.
Because I do believe I said it.
I might have said it on your show.
I think I've said it.
somewhere else. At least twice.
Oh, you're probably saying it everywhere. You don't even know.
You're right in your mouth. And then,
you know, if it cross the line, then I need to
apologize for it. That's it.
I feel like if you, if you
just bring him a hot dog with mustard
on the 23rd, it'll all be good.
I think that you can buy your way out of this.
Absolutely. I'll buy my way out of it. And you know what?
The thing is, there's a lot of times when we're in Buffalo,
I don't know, like calling games, like he sits kind of like
in the trainer's room.
Oh, yeah. That's where he lived.
Yeah, like I, but, but no, he just goes in there and BS is with the guys and I'll go sit with them and just BS with them.
Like I say, I never knew our relationship was fractured right now.
I'm actually like, I'm upset that I might have heard a friend.
That's what I see it.
Oh, dear.
It's kind of, and we'll move on.
But it is kind of one of those things.
I think of someone like, like Brock Lesner, somebody who's just kind of when they're talking and then all of a sudden, their voice kind of gets quiet and gets.
Yeah.
Like I, it was like he was.
There's a chill in the air.
Yes, he was the undertaker.
Yes.
And going, I will see you in the parking lot.
This was happy Gilmore with a guy.
Rest in peace.
Next time pick on like Marks of Art or somebody.
This is a bad move.
Now let's let's assume that it does escalate in the fisticuffs and we're going to have a square.
Let's do the tail of the tape here.
Rob Ray.
You're in between the boxes in Buffalo.
Are you a lefty?
He doesn't like.
So you can sneak him in there, but he'll throw back.
If there was a garbage can this big in between the box and between the benches, he would stuff me in it.
Just for fun.
Keep that in mind.
Well, and I think he can take a punch because remember he got hit in the head with that puck.
Oh, fuck.
Remember, yeah, he took the puck and just kept going.
Yeah.
I'd maybe load some brass knucks or something up just in case.
I feel like, you know what, you just, you disarm people with the truth.
You go out of it and say, I apologize, I screwed up.
And if he punches me in the face, then I'll turtle or do whatever.
It's like, you know, I don't have any defense moves.
Lenova wings also work.
Chicken Parm from chefs is a nice touch.
He's a big fan of that.
It's in Ottawa.
Is it not at all?
23rd.
It's in Ottawa.
It's in Ottawa.
So I bring him some putteen or something, same Hubert, chicken.
Well, Jack, if we go to the full shot on Jamie, I was also thinking that probably what you could do is just take that mask.
Yeah.
That's a great idea.
You could just wear that.
I, you know what?
My producer messaged me right away, way with the claim.
Excuse me, I'm choking.
Yeah, I bet.
It's coming down to something.
Finally, now you've got nothing to say now.
I need of, I have to miss a few games.
Finally, stop.
I can't do it.
You can't do it.
He messaged me right away.
He goes, you guys are in between the benches on the 23rd.
Like, is he mad at you?
And I'm like, I don't know.
I'm going to sort this out.
I talked to him this morning.
And I said, what I should do is we should do a segment on it.
And I can bring him on the show and have a formal apology right to his face.
But then, you know, if it's a planned like wrestling thing,
then maybe he does, like, give me a little cross-faced chicken wing and, you know,
choke me out on air for.
I've got to get to the bottom of this because I've got a lot of people saying that you guys
manufactured the Rob Ray thing like that there's like this this and I think it's not you Pinder
it's you not you boomer it's the guy in the middle there well long arms yes old long arms
osempic long arms yeah they are you can play this game you're never ray and Warner double
team in you here I
I don't know what you're alluding to.
I just, yeah, I mean, it is.
I'll say this, because you and I, we were texting back and forth.
I will say this, what you saw in that clip is not, it's not doctor.
That's not a, yeah.
We were having a discussion about the Buffalo Sabres and Kevin, this is, again, you know,
this happened a couple weeks ago.
Yes.
And we were talking about these hard decisions you have to make as a general manager.
You've said, got to be a sociopath.
And I said, Jamie McClin.
We were right in the middle of that.
And he jumps in.
That exact exchange, it's maybe tightened a little bit for time, but really there's very little in there.
The problem is that.
Jamie McClend?
Oh, noodle.
The response from you guys is fishy.
That's what bothered me.
Like I actually, that.
Yeah, I saw, I saw you on over.
I saw your, you with a old dog.
You're like, the guys, oh, they didn't come to my defense.
They didn't say anything.
Oh, no, Jamie's a great guy.
Nothing.
Rob Ray's sitting right here.
Nothing to, like, nothing to see.
Like, it was just, okay.
Like, to me, that was like, okay,
are we in, like, a wrestling, like, am I the heel now?
Like, all the sudden.
Is it a gimmick?
The wrestling script.
I know who wouldn't take your side either if he was sitting here.
There's O'Dok.
There's no way he's stepping in between you and Rob, Ray.
There's no chance.
This, you guys know, and this is the thing,
I've been sent by my producers.
Like, they were like,
when Rob actually got hit in between the bench, benches twice or whatever, we had it on our broadcast, I think like the next day or two days later.
My producer, Sam Cicerollo, who watched the clip, he watched the show.
He actually has been, he said to me, he goes, show everybody this clip.
We went out of our way to say, you know, legend, Rob, all of these things.
He goes, this is long before you made the mascot head comment.
And I said, you did make it, eh?
It wasn't fabricated.
I went back and found a clip.
Yes.
I have to own it.
You've said it on our show, too.
I actually used the word with love, too.
And I go, with all the respect and with love, he's a big dude.
That's it.
When I'm in Buffalo beside him, I can't see around him.
He is such a big man.
Like, he's got a head like a mascot.
And I say that with love.
But he's just a giant, giant man.
you can add whatever you want to it.
If I call somebody...
You know what that is?
That's like doing the, you know, no offense, but...
And then just crushing them.
Yeah, Dean calls me an alcoholic, but he does it with love.
It makes it a lot better for me.
Listen, I found...
No offense, but...
I need to own it, and I will.
But at the end of the day, it's like,
it wasn't, it's not the most egregious thing in the way.
It wasn't, I didn't feel like it was egregious.
I think you should stand behind it.
What bothered me is the last.
of friendship that I felt that I had on this panel.
If I'm your manager, if I'm Bobby the Brain Heenan right now and I'm working,
I'm telling you, stick to it.
Stick to your guns, noodles.
Play it out.
Also, I was going to say in the spirit of Bobby the Brain Heenan, neck brace,
because he may not punch the guy who's already injured.
Yes.
Wear some classes.
Right?
If you've got a neck brace and some crutches.
I'd love to have a go at you.
Jamie, I mean, I was joking.
Now I'm serious.
Yes.
It would be great because you've talked about it on your show.
and it'll be part of the thing.
If you go cobbling in there
with a neck brace and crutches.
Oh, man.
A arm.
That was so good.
Last thing on it, either neck brace and crutches or a sling,
or you get a mascot head.
Yes.
Oh, my God.
Yes.
Or you find a mascot head somewhere and wear it into the end of the
penalty or the box there.
That would be the bulsiest, scariest move I could ever do up.
You're an entertainment.
No container noodles. Don't let us know.
I would not do it. I would not do it.
That's your move.
Bad noodles.
People will die laughing.
Just start talking about Tim Stutzla.
Well, like I say, I don't know how it's going to unfold, but I know I have apologized 10 times live on TV.
I will do it face to face and I might end up in the next brace anyways.
You never know.
Just know we have your back.
Okay.
The Rob Ray update was that day the 23rd.
I went to the right.
I didn't go to morning skate
because my flight was delayed coming in.
And apparently Rob doesn't go to morning skates a lot anyway,
so it's not a big deal.
So I messaged him when I got to the rink at like 5.30
because I saw him in the hallway and I said,
hey, I'm in my room.
You know, pop by if you want to say, you know, want to have a chat.
He didn't pop by.
I had to do a sports center head at 6 o'clock.
And I came back from that.
and I saw him in the hallway,
and I walked down towards him, and he walked away from me.
And I was like, okay, that's weird.
So I walked in behind him, and I said, listen, I'm sorry.
He goes, Jamie, it's...
Now I look back.
He was acting, but he was like, it's fine, Jamie.
It's fine.
And I was like, well, I said, I feel bad.
Like, I feel bad.
And I was trying to apologize, and he was like,
Jamie, just don't worry about it.
You do your thing.
I'll do my thing.
And I was like, okay.
I thought it was a bit weird.
And then, so then, like, in between the benches, like, we're right beside each other.
And I was like, my wife calls me before the game, and she goes, how did it go?
And I go, I don't know.
Like, I mean, it's fine.
But I, you know, I was like, I don't know.
Like I said, I don't think he's, I said, I think he's mad.
Like, you know, legitimately mad.
So then the whole game goes on.
don't you know I don't I don't I don't talk to him he doesn't talk to me and with like about a minute and a half two minutes left the last TV time out I'm on my headset like talking to my producer and I I can feel his face like right here and I like turn and he goes you know I've just been messing with you and I go all right well like but I'm like we can't have a conversation I'm working and he's working so then I like I tap him and we should
shake hands or whatever.
And then after the game,
I think Buffalo
I'm trying to remember, I think Buffalo won
in overtime. And
I go into my office
and he's in there.
And he like shakes my hand.
He goes, yeah, we were messing with you.
And I go,
well, it's just a weird, like,
I don't know if this is Buffalo humor,
but it, like, went on for, like,
oh, yeah. It's like weeks,
you know. So it was like,
Even that night, I was like, okay, like, at some point, somebody couldn't let me know,
but it was just like a weird, it was fine.
So we just said, have a good Christmas.
I gave him my handshake and a hug.
And the weird thing is he said, he goes, yeah, Tide Domi sent me the clip.
And I was like, why is Tide Domi mad about me?
I was just like, it was such a weird dynamic of all this.
That Tideomi's an asshole, hey, James?
Domi's stirring a butt.
He's got a huge hit.
I'm not saying anything negative about anybody. Put it that way. I don't need another guy chasing me around.
So anyways, it was a good, we had a good conversation after and a good chuckle. So it was, it was nice to, you know, catch up.
But that's why the weirdest thing about all this, I was like, there is no way this guy could be mad about that common.
He's got such a dry sense of humor and he's a pretty funny guy. And so then that's, in the back of my mind, I was like 80% sure that he was joking, but not.
a hundred. I think it dipped
though. I think you dip, you dipped
from 80 at times.
It dipped to about 20%
when I went and talked to him because I
was like, all right, that's weird.
But anyways,
you guys know I love Rob.
All's well that ends well.
I do love, that's the thing, the nice,
it's one of the great things about Jamie is he's such a nice
guy.
That you could, you could tell us,
Rob's just taking the piss out of him.
Like he's just having a hard, giving him a hard
time. But because
Jamie's so nice, like,
oh, there's, well, but do you think he's really,
do you think really he's mad? He does care.
Cares about other people,
cares about how they think about him.
You should probably figure that out.
Because everybody, you know, maybe Rob Ray was the only
guy there for a short amount of time who didn't like
Jamie McLennon. It's all good now.
Hope you enjoyed it. He is one of the best.
The hockey season, when it starts up again,
NHL season starts this year in September
now with these 84 games.
going to roll the
thing out a little bit earlier
for the regular season. So yeah, we'll have Jamie back
by September-ish, maybe mid.
We miss them. You miss them already, don't you?
Just watch that. Don't you miss them already?
But he'll be back on the Crystal Waters plumbing and heating
guest hotline. I would assume we haven't talked about it,
but he gets paid so much money to do it.
I'm sure he'll be back.
Hope you guys are having a great summer.

player responsibly. They're here in Alberta. They're here to stay. Crystal Waters, plumbing and
heating. You know how it goes. Capital Shev and Village Haunt. All of the sponsors. The only way
this thing happens that we are able to come to you every day, Monday to Friday, a couple hours
and doing the thing that we do, the dumb and the good and the dumb and all of it is by your
supporting the sponsors. The sponsors see it. They feel it. They know the support is there. So we
appreciate that. We do ask you that you just keep on pulling on the old barn burner rope as we
head into the fall here. Hope you're having a great summer. Be good. Take care of yourself.
And I think I can do this. See you, buddies.
