We're lying.
Do he say go?
He said go.
Where?
What?
Thumbs up, I don't have that.
I am so, we're in a different province.
Yes.
We're in a different studio.
Rett's actually here with us.
I don't even know what's going on.
You're all right, Rhett?
No.
You're good?
I'm hung over.
You're hungover?
I don't understand.
I mean, I was unfairly hung over today.
What?
Didn't earn it.
I feel like I didn't earn it.
We had a few drinks at dinner.
You're soft.
I know.
I know you won.
You earned it.
Oh, please.
I heard all kinds of stories.
I've heard stories I wasn't even involved in.
This is getting impressive.
Yeah, so then Pinder, we went to somebody Pindernew and then to another place.
Pinder knew these guys.
And then this is this one girl was a ballerina or something.
I don't know.
Like, you only you could get these stories.
Like how?
I can't be anyone else.
I'm just me.
I'm sorry.
And he also can't go home until every, you have the big, I don't know if it's FOMO or a mental thing that you got.
It's FOMO for sure.
FOMO.
You cannot go home until you know it's over.
I am last man standing every time.
It's like, what if someone had a good time and there was a joke I didn't hear and I didn't laugh.
I'm missing out on whatever that when you laugh, that thing in your brain happens or some sort of, I could miss that.
I can't have that happen.
We're the exact opposite.
I can leave it any time.
I think there's a good time about to happen.
Poof, smoke bomb.
This might be fun.
I have to leave.
I want no part of this.
Anyway, we're here.
We're in Toronto.
We're at the beautiful.
the Royal, the Fairmont Royal Royal, Royal York.
It's very fancy and clearly we fit in here.
This is our type of place.
Finally, we're getting the treatment that we deserve.
Stop looking at my shirt.
Here's the thing.
The email came out, could we, you know, it's,
we're at this, what it is, this convention,
let's, you know, collard shirts.
Make sure we wear, don't wear dark colors
because the background is dark and you'll just flet.
Huh.
Nice job.
Purple, blue, what's up?
And then, okay.
Okay, Jimmy Buffett.
My hair's dark. Are you going to shave my head?
I'm giving me for...
Hey, I'm a parrot head.
What you want?
Yeah, yeah, that's you.
You were asking about it, and right and I kind of looked at each other.
He's going to wear the Vegas shirt, isn't he?
He's wearing the Vegas shirt.
He's got a Robert Graham.
It's not a Vegas shirt.
But you don't go to the party.
We just talked about it.
The only place you'll party is Vegas.
That's the shirt.
That guy must party.
Look at that shirt.
I bet you he's a great time.
It's called Misdirection.
That's what's called.
Terrible time, and I do not party.
Welcome to the Seagram's VO Select Studio.
We are here in Trana, where the All-Star festivities, I guess, are underway.
They've got the draft thing going tonight.
The All-Star game is coming up.
But for our purposes, we don't care about that.
Because now, what, the Flames do not have an All-Star.
Is that official?
They're boycotting the All-Star game.
Getting screwed.
They don't believe in it.
It's just hokey-pokey.
No one's trying.
Ban the All-Star game.
Where's my hard camp?
Hey, NHL.
why do you hate the flames?
Hate us.
Why do you hate the flames?
The flames don't have any all-stars.
That's what Gary's, yeah.
What do you think if they called Blake Coleman, who I saw even on social media the other day,
he was already on a beach somewhere?
I'm going to say, hang it up on.
I hate Blake, we know you didn't make it the first cut.
But Lindholm, yeah, you heard, traded.
Now, would you like to come?
That'd be a huge go F yourself.
What's that noise in the background?
That's my Dallas Cowboys cheerleader wife.
We're on a beach.
Don't ever call me.
Lose this.
And I wasn't good enough the first time, but now, right.
I'll be right there.
But start the game for sure with Elbe if I'm not there.
I'll be there.
Drop the puck.
Don't wait for me.
Leave it in the stall.
Whatever colors left there.
We were outside the restaurant last night.
It was kind of amazing.
We walked into the place and people were telling us, hey, this Lindholm to Vancouver.
And I don't know why.
I guess in hindsight, everything kind of changes.
And you think about things differently.
It's for McLeodlaw.
Let's get into our opening statements.
The McLeodlaw opening statements, our buddy Peter Klein.
I wonder how Peter feels.
I think he's probably really happy.
Yeah.
Because his daughter, of course.
Huge Zedorov fan.
Heartbreak Hotel when he left.
She was heartbroken.
I don't know.
So anyway, for McLeod Law, we'll get into it.
The Elias Lindholm trade is done.
We just spent so much time, I guess, talking about Colorado, Boston.
They seemed like the natural fit.
Yeah.
We had heard a little bit about Vancouver.
I don't know why I didn't really.
Just recently, though, right?
Because at the start of the year, Vancouver was not considered a playoff team.
No.
And the other thing is they used to run Pedersen and Miller 1-2 down the middle,
but they love having J.T. Miller on the wing with Pedersen for that lotto line,
640 and 9, 649.
And so all of a sudden you need a second line center if those guys are playing together.
And if you can, what a luxury to put all those apples in one basket, so to speak.
So all of a sudden, the number two center shows up on their list.
I think they still need a D too, and they're great.
Then you look back and you start to put all the pieces into place.
Well, why Vancouver?
Okay.
Well, yeah, if you're going to move Pedersen, then you've got Miller,
and Lindholm's going to be able to fit on whatever team he plays.
Oh, right, there is Jim Rutherford, who kind of goes with what he knows and right.
He was in Carolina and drafted Elias Lindholm in 2013.
He was there then.
Yeah.
Jeez, yeah, okay.
Yeah, and then, of course, Monaghan went to pick after.
And Rutherford is Mr. Get My Business done early guy.
He's not sweating it out two minutes till the deadline trying to, the damn fax machine's broken, quick, and get another fax machine.
Like, he always does his work early.
This is a classic Jim Rutherford move.
I'm sure, you know, Patrick Alvin would have.
have his hands in there as well. Of course. But this is, this would be very much a Rutherford thing.
This feels to me like a deal that this was, we'll find out in years down the road how good or bad
this trade is or who wanted or who lost it. But I don't think Craig Conroy was getting more for
Elias Lindholm. Given the season he's had, he's got nine goals, it's not been a good year for him.
I don't think there's any trade out there now or closer to the deadline or at the deadline
where you would have gotten more.
If it's a first, a player, a prospect,
that feels, that's the high bar.
And that's two pieces lighter than what he actually got.
They went over that.
So I feel like Conroy, for what it is,
I think he did really well.
And when we started to hear Cozmenko,
which is a name that made sense
because he's fallen out of favor
under Tocet in Vancouver,
and he can score, again, Calgary.
Do you have a 30 goal guy?
We've asked ourselves all year.
Like, who would you pan in for 30?
There's no one.
Coleman's having a career.
Maybe he gets there.
Sharon Govich, you didn't really know.
Nice find there. But this guy scored 39 is a rookie.
Now, he's not young. He's a year away from UFA.
But the bottom side of the deal was, could this be one for one?
And like, ooh, that'd be a little light.
And instead, it's him plus a first, plus a really good prospect in the O,
plus another defenseman, plus a conditional fourth that can turn to a third.
If Vancouver goes on a bit of a run, that's five pieces.
If one of them doesn't pan out, if two of them don't pan out,
that doesn't mean you still can't win this thing.
If it's a one for one of there's two players,
those guys have to make it.
This is a lot of assets,
and I like their chances of being able to look back and say,
we got a ton.
What do you think, Rhett?
It's great.
Yeah, see, that's why you bring my play.
I figured that's probably how you felt about it for sure.
I talked to Craig last night before he made the trade.
I won't be able to sleep unless I talk to Craig about this.
I've got questions.
I really need to know how this came to be.
And conversely, Craig won't get it done unless it's got Rhett stamp of approval.
He was like...
Well, I saw it dinner.
I saw it.
Is he talking to Congress?
I thought for sure.
And it was just like, Redd, what do you think?
He said, it's great.
Go for it.
And then you pulled the trigger.
The deal was done.
You can do this one.
But you did do some digging on Hunter Bristevich, the defenseman.
Yes.
Soft.
Oh.
Like body by milk?
What are we talking here?
Hey, this is my research.
So he's like, how do you spell out in fairness?
Bristavich, there's a Z and an R and there's some stuff in there.
We can buy some vowels here.
There's some things to mix in there.
So.
I've got it zoomed in
Like the letters are nice and big
He's trying to type it in looking back
What's who? What the percent?
It's like we are not in sight
You can't even read the menu now.
You're doing this one like how?
Yeah, zoom it.
But that is the thing.
He's an intriguing guy.
Hunter Pristevich, he is with the Kitchener Rangers
of the Ontario Hockey League.
He's having an unbelievable season.
He is on pace to probably put together points
that no defenseman has done in OHL history.
He's got 61 assists.
Like Drake Barrow.
Skiske numbers?
Even more than...
Holy shit.
A great least.
So you're saying the ceiling is higher than Drake Barre House?
Brian Campbell?
Goodness.
I'm glad I'm seated.
Yeah.
But there's always going to be bad and good with it.
I guess the story goes, right?
Here's a kid.
Elite broke his shoulder.
Had a shoulder injury that basically wiped out his 16, 17-year-old season.
Comes back with the U.S. development team.
Some guys have passed him.
He's rehabbing.
He's a little bit behind.
So his role is diminished.
He goes.
in the third round instead of maybe second, maybe late first kind of a thing.
He continues to get stronger, he gets back, and now you're seeing what he's done.
He was going to the University of Michigan.
He decides to go to Kitchener instead, play more games, feels like he's behind, playing catch-up.
So I don't know.
Have you got a player who's got great skill in junior?
We've seen a ton of them.
We do.
But what do we say about the Flames right now?
Well, we say a lot, but they don't have a power play.
I think you're good.
skill, yes, please.
And you had noted last night, there's some comps in the system with them,
and we don't want to get too prospect porny,
or you're talking about guys no one's heard of outside of your own market,
but they seem to like these high-skilled defensemen,
and we can teach defense, we can walk you through systems.
You can't teach a third-payer guy to go out and run a power play.
So we'd rather, I guess, sort of like break in the stallion
and then kick the mule kind of philosophy.
We've seen that with Sam Moran in the draft last year.
Jeremy Porier, who's just back after getting sliced early in the,
year and you'd noted Schillington last night was an interesting comp these are very very high-end
skill guys and we can work on the D zone later and shillington i mean the numbers aren't comparable
and of course shillington wasn't playing in the in the o or anything like that but the word on him
was was definitely ranked higher a year or so ago but maybe the defensive game needs some work
flame said we'll work with them defensively if you've got the tools if you can skate and you
have offensive game like that we'll we'll teach you the rest and you wonder if that's the same but i i'm with
I would rather hear that they're taking a shot.
That's why I like this deal.
Maybe Kuzmankov or Kuzmanko doesn't work out.
Yeah, but you're going to give him all the opportunity in the world.
And wouldn't, because he has the no trade clause,
and you can bet the Conroy's on there, and Husk is on there.
We have a guy named Igor Sharon Govich,
and his numbers went down and down in New Jersey as his role diminished.
We want guys with skill, we want creativity,
and now he's potentially having a career year.
We see the same for you.
That had to have been some of the selling points.
Why not?
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Both are guys that have fallen out of favor on deep clubs.
Our power play stinks.
Yeah.
Right?
I mean, yeah.
Our power play's awful.
You had more goals last year as a rookie by like 50 and then our highest score.
We're going to give you all the ice.
You're getting ozone.
You're getting our best center.
You're starting every power play.
None of this.
You've got to earn it with Rick Tockett.
Like, we're just going to play the S out of you here.
And we'll see what happens.
If they like them, they can resign them.
If not, you might have another.
Lindholm type deal in next year's deadline because you're selling a legit sniper.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I won't even lie to you.
I don't know what character wise.
What's he like?
I always, you don't like seeing a guy traded.
What are you?
A distressed asset?
Is that what he would be this year, right?
When you go from that many goals?
Is this a guy that doesn't like to be coached?
Is this a guy that can't handle, I don't know what it is.
Don't read too much into it.
But it's such a drop from one year to the next.
But Sharon Gowicz.
the guy you just mentioned and that was the same thing. Are there any issues since he's landed in
Calgary? No. And it was just circumstance. If other guys have played better too under Tocke, it's just
they're getting the ice now. Well, and you would say it like there's not a coach for every player.
No. There's different types of coaches and different guys. Yeah. 100%. And it sounded like there was a conversation
with not just the GM, but Ryan Huska, the head coach of the flames regarding his role to try to,
okay, now you can sign that no trade. I have my fingers crossed that this is a,
Catapult for Johnny Huberto.
You can set this guy up, shoot the puck.
What?
He can pass it to him.
You score.
I'll pass it to you.
You score.
I mean, yeah, he could pass to anyone theoretically and they could score, but instead it's just
over the dream.
Thanks, Binder.
Why do you have to bring him into that?
What do you got to do?
I'm saying it's going to be his, it's a resurrection.
It's going to be great.
And you're squashing it.
I'm going to take the under on the Huberto does anything bet.
You're an absolute deep way.
HL category.
You know what we're going to do.
We'll take a quick break here and we'll bring in Frank Sarah Valley
and we'll get him on the tell us inside of hotline.
See if he thinks it's good.
See if maybe he's not a big poopy pants like somebody else sitting up here.
Had to bring up.
All the positive vibes and then you have to, you know.
I got more bad news.
Oh, great.
They've no centers.
And Frank's gone.
We lost Frank.
No, Franks.
We'll get him in.
There's whiskey here.
There's Cigram's whiskey.
Someone in the comments the other day was calling him the silver sausage.
That's just me.
That's not nice.
Don't say that about Frank.
He's younger than Crosby.
Don't call him.
All right, stop.
Two minutes coming back, Frank Saravale.
My family's very own whiskey.
Barrel aged and set apart.
Marked with VO, artfully blended, impeccably crafted,
as a wedding gift to my son for the bride and groom.
And now, over a century later, from our very own family to yours,
a legacy rooted in whiskey.
Seagram's VO.
growing deeper, reaching out, raising a glass to your legacy.
Seagram's VO, make it your very own.
We're back here in the beautiful Royal York Hotel, downtown Toronto,
just a stone's throw from where the All-Star game is going to be played.
The big draft, I heard Frank talking earlier.
He's very excited for the All-Star draft.
Here in the Seagram's V-O Select Studio, it is Barnburn.
There is Frank Serra Valley.
You've been putting in a lot of work today, bud.
You've been just, you've been steady here on the couch, which I know is rare because you're never on a couch.
Normally, yeah.
Ready to drag him out of the gym again.
Damn it.
Trying to get a sweat in here.
The old silver sausage was getting a good sweat on the walk here.

Tellus.com slash Flames contest.
I'm guessing because you haven't talked about it enough, hey, Elias Lindholm trade.
Hold on a second.
Before we get there, it's always interesting when you work with people in person.
You know, you do it virtually for a while.
And then you come in and you see how people work.
And Pinder here, he's got four different color pens.
I'm always color coding if I need to know.
See, at first I thought maybe it was part of the set.
We put a bunch of pens down that if people needed, they'd be there.
But yeah, here's the thing, though.
You know they make one of those where you can just click down.
That's a BS quality pen.
Don't fall for that.
That is low quality ink.
Don't do it, Frank.
It's better than that.
You need a drip pen, not one of the ball pens.
Come on.
Peter has had more pens explode on him than anyone I've ever known as well.
Yeah, it's really good.
It's like that earnest movie.
Kay, you might be too young for this, which is hilarious,
because Frank's the youngest guy here.
Ernest, do you remember the Ernest series?
Ernest goes to camp.
Ernest does this.
Ernest buys groceries.
Ernest goes to Christmas, whatever.
One of them, he's on the jury in a pen explodes.
Every time they pan back to him,
It's like more ink until it looks like he's had like a vat of it dumped on him.
Yeah, and that was one of those on the show like 10 years ago.
That was way back in the radio days, which I think, I don't know if they still exist.
They have like a tower that's like there's an AM radio transmitter where people couldn't see.
But yeah, he would have the black ink all over his face as we're doing a somber interview or something.
Thanks, Pender.
Appreciate that.
We've now had, I don't know what, 12 hours to let it marry a little more than that.
Lindholm, six years is a flame.
He is gone.
I was thinking back that, you know, the trade tree that they do.
So Lindholm, part of the Dougie Hamilton deal, part of the Boston trade.
Yeah.
First of two seconds, Dougie.
It's going to continue on here.
You could rewind it back even further.
Lindholm drafted by Jim Rutherford.
Yeah, yeah.
So the fingerprints are on it.
I feel like this isn't even a Calgary Bay show pumping the flames how well they did on a trade.
I said in the last segment,
I don't think they could have done better if they waited.
I don't think a team was going to pay more than two picks and two prospects and a player.
And yes.
You heard Craig Conroy say it.
I got my price.
Is Kuzmenko there at the top prospect in Vancouver?
No, he's not.
But you're also not trading an elite star player.
You're trading a very good player who's an expiring contract in a bad season with no salary retention.
I think for what it is, this is a fine deal.
I think the most exciting part for the Flames is that,
They got the best of both worlds.
Like we talked about this the last few weeks that they need to get some NHL ready pieces and players
because they're not tearing it down to the studs.
They want to, this is not a full-scale rebuild.
They want to have guys that they can plug in that could help get them where they want to get to.
And Kuzmenko could be that guy.
And frankly, I would make the argument it's in their best interest to help make him that guy.
Then to just turn around and flip him over the next.
next five weeks. Or next year where he's a you next summer. Give us more on him because the
prospects are fun. The first rounder's nice. It'll be a late pick. But like he's a late arrive to the
NHL guy. 39 is a rookie. What more context can he give us on him? Last year was magical. He
steps in, plays with Pedersen, 39 goals, 74 points. And you're like, where'd this guy come from?
And it's so rare to have someone step in. Like, there's all those.
They call them equivalency charts.
Hey, if you play in the KHL and you get this,
well, that roughly translates to this in the NHL.
He blew that out of the water.
And then this year, they make the coaching change late last year,
and he just can't fit.
Square peg and round hole.
And for me, you know, I think one of the real,
and this is not a knock on Rick Tocke,
who I think has done an unbelievable job in Vancouver,
sometimes teams spend so much time focusing on what players don't do well that they lose sight of what makes them really valuable.
And that to me, you have to be willing to take the bad with the good.
And Kuzmenko has tons of talent that you guys talked about Sharon Govich to open the show.
I think part of what the flames have done really well here since Craig Conroy took over is identify some market inefficiencies.
Look, Kuzmanko had to be part of some deal,
but I would assure you that their interest in moving Lindholm to Vancouver,
again, another divisional rival,
part of their calculus was not many other teams that are going to be in this mix
are willing to pluck a player off of their roster to send us back
that has any of the upside anywhere near Kuzmanko.
So I don't want to say he was the centerpiece of the deal,
but I think he was a huge part of what Calgary was thinking
in terms of how they arrived at the finish line.
It's a potential home run.
It's a bit of a wild card.
The whole thing's a wild card.
I guess when you come into a trade,
you want pick, player, process, that sort of thing.
I think Kuzmenko has a bit of bust boom to it for the flames, right?
Maybe he leaves.
Maybe you trade him.
Maybe you look back.
Well, he never did reach the heights of that one year that he had in Vancouver.
But how many players even have that upside?
You need to have that ability to do it in the first place.
What did we talk about the other day?
On Monday, we said the flames have a clear lack of talent compared to those other teams.
Kuzmenko, he's not the end-all be-all, but he adds just a bit more to the talent pool that you didn't have.
He does the thing they struggle the most at, and that's score.
They don't have scorers.
And he just casually rolled out of the other side of the planet and scored 39 in his first year in the league.
Like that is something they've lacked incredibly.
It's glaring.
We talk about their power play.
They're almost as dangerous on the penalty kill as threat.
No, none.
And there's very few guys that have a shot that can beat a goalie at distance.
Now you add that.
So the negative view of this trade and not to go there would be that the whole package that you got in return, all of it's just a hope bet.
Kuzmenko, hope bet, late first round pick.
Really kind of a coin flip.
Broseciewicz, intriguing prospect, but a lot of people believe the Canucks sold high.
and the success that he's had in Kitsner is probably not a really good indicator of what he'd pile up in the NHL.
The fourth round pick, another lottery ticket.
But at least if you're going to go that route to me and take the hope bets, do it in quantity.
Yeah, they've got lots of lottery tickets here.
And they're not bad ones, right?
Yeah.
The other thing to what I had said to Ryan on the thing we did last night, that an executive had told me one time,
When you go into, how do you decide what you're going to trade?
How do you decide what you want to get back?
So as a group or individually, you sit down, well, here's what we want.
When someone gives you that, shake their hand.
Don't get cute.
Don't start, well, maybe I can take this to that team.
And maybe I can get an extra little pick here.
It's just not worth it.
Because then half the time those things go off the rails.
Conroy set his price.
And I dare say he got more here than probably what they thought they were going to get.
It would be first player prospect.
he got what he wanted.
He shook Rutherford and Alvin's hand.
It's done.
I think he got more than what the market,
not meaning teams,
but what fans thought he would get.
Sure.
And part of that's because of what you mentioned
that this has been a down year for Lindenholt.
The counting stats aren't pretty,
but he's still a very, very good player.
And the truth is, to your point,
there is no high-end talent for him to play with,
and we've identified that that's the only way
he can really pile up the counting stats.
So when you look at this is another, so we talked about what Craig Conroy's done in identifying market inefficiencies.
But the other part is, and I love, and I think it's such a refreshing way to do business, is if you are trying to win deals, and this is what gets in the way of all NHL general managers is I don't, I got to present to the public that I won the deal.
I honestly, and this is, there's no cliche in this.
I think this trade is legitimately a win-win for both sides.
I agree.
I love it for Vancouver.
Vancouver gets a real impact piece, no strings attached.
They didn't have to give up their top prospect.
In January, too, right?
There's a lot of time, and I don't think there will be.
It is February today, but.
Well, whatever.
The deal's done.
You've got enough time to let him get comfortable.
Maybe it doesn't work with Pedersen.
It's better with Miller.
You have time to massage those things for Tocke to get more familiar with him as a person.
It's just, I see why Vancouver does this.
They weren't really...
And you get a splash at All-Star.
What if those guys make them their first pick tonight in the draft?
Yeah, yeah, whatever.
Don't care.
Okay.
Don't care.
I get it on.
I mean, we're being honest, yeah.
I'm sure the 12-year-olds will care, but...
He said, I set my price, and I got it.
But the other thing was, it's not that he shopped it,
but my understanding was he went to the other teams that had contacted him and said,
it's go time.
Present your best offer or we'll see you later.
It's going down.
Because it's happening.
And that's, I think, such a refreshing way to do business.
And you would said, too, when we start talking about all these players and even go back to the summer, when Tofoli was part of that group, going into the draft, you got Tofoli and Zadora, and Hanof, all of these guys. How are you going to trade all of these guys?
And you did Tofoli last summer. Then you did Zadora.
Win.
Win.
And now you do this one. It just felt like it was going to be one of those things.
It just wasn't going to be dominoes all at once that it was going to take some time.
So now you're, now you kind of tighten the focus.
Now what are you doing with Hanofin?
He did it on his own timeline.
Yeah.
That's the key.
It's like, remember all the, all the bullets, all the shit was flying last year.
We were saying, how are the flames possibly going to sort all this drama out?
And he just said, whoa, wait a second.
I'm the manager.
I've been in this situation before where I've been a player.
I understand how teams can fall apart.
They kept it together.
They kept the wheels on.
And it's been a difficult.
disappointing year by any, you know, measurable metric.
But now you've done it in a methodical way.
The Tofoli deal is a clear win.
Yeah, yeah.
Clear win.
Moving Zaderov and getting that drama out of his room further enabled him to
keep this team together to then get to this point.
I guess just because you brought it up.
We're hearing that maybe Zadorov isn't a great fit in that room that,
because there was talking, it wasn't meshing well in the Calgary room.
it was time to make that trade, as you just mentioned.
Is there smoke to that fire that maybe Zedorov is,
not that they're going to trade him, but it's not harmony in there right now with him?
Well, I think there's the micro, which would be that.
And then the macro, which is he's really unlikely to resign there, too.
So you tried it out, and if it doesn't work,
the problem with the Canucks moving him is that if they do,
then they're going to have two pieces that they probably need to add.
They already needed me, right?
I think they need one more defenseman.
Because think about how this season has played out for Van.
You've had stretches where you've had a couple guys banged up,
Susie's been out, all of a sudden you're dipping back into the,
oh, this guy is a fringe NHL player,
and that's not how Stanley Cup contenders are built.
You've got to have, you really need to be eight deep that you feel comfortable in.
We said one other thing last night, too.
And to me, it's also a signal to Flames fans.
I think there's confidence in Craig, like you said.
He didn't rush out and just bring a bunch of,
I don't know how I'm going to trade all these guys, just trade them.
He was patient.
He still got some more assets to move.
But it's also a signal, I think, that Flame fans can believe that,
yet he's, they're going to be allowed to sell.
They have a game plan.
Right?
Yeah, it's the one that we've been praying for.
His ownership going to let them,
Craig's, this looks like Craig's going to be able to do things his way.
I've been telling you about since November or December.
They knew since then this is where we're going.
And I don't think they've had any trouble at all.
My understanding, as much as Mary Edwards may be a pain in the ass,
if you can present a coherent plan, he'll buy it.
And especially if it's more of the retool versus just, like you said,
they're not pulling this thing down to the studs.
And they can't.
No.
Not with Uber Doe contract, not with Cajon.
Not with Uyghur.
There's no way.
Yeah.
There's too many good pros for them to really be.
Too good of a goalie, frankly, right now.
And probably for the future.
Is the goalie, should we be paying attention to Markstrom here over the next month?
Or is that just too big a piece of business to do in season?
I don't think it's too big of a piece of business to do.
The flames just got their biggest piece of business done.
Right.
It's interrupt.
Sorry.
How much worse off are you right now?
having moved Lindholm out.
Like, they're still on the cut.
I don't think they're making the playoffs.
And I think they're going to make other moves.
But I've been saying for a month now.
You love the sneaky get-in BVATC.
Yeah, battle.
Well, because Mankov's going to be nine-goat.
Like, he's going to be that much of a drop-off from Lindholm's play right now.
The problem is that don't centers.
That's what I see.
Like, you, if you like those two lines, the backland line and the cadre line,
okay, so now where do you put Sharon Govich,
Huberto and Kuzmenko?
Because none of those guys are centers, none of them profile of centers.
asking Zaredeus positions mid-season.
Markstrom playing the way he is.
If you're a power play alone actually,
if you go up to 18, 19%,
you're winning more games.
You're winning more games.
The thing of it is, though,
how many nights would you say
the Lindholm line was their top line?
Not often.
So you know what I mean?
If you viewed the cadre line
more often than not, that's your best line,
it's still there.
And the Backland line, it's...
I don't want to be pessimistic when I say this.
I'm not saying you're trading your third line center.
I'm not saying that.
What I'm saying is,
I'm kind of with you.
It's kind of a collection of spare parts, though.
It really is.
It's the island of Misfit choice.
But you have the glue.
The glue is your goaltending.
That's...
Like, tell me who their third best center is right now.
But go around the league and tell me who's St. Louis' third best center.
Well, I mean, it's not Cole Schwint.
Cole Schwint's playing in their H.L affiliate.
And that's the Flames' third best center right now.
So my question is who can pivot to the middle.
And I think when you move 2D on top of your...
Shit, I got rid of Rosie.
Damn it.
I know.
I said that last night.
That whole thing, if the Dubay thing doesn't happen, then you don't, right?
It's just, then Greer gets hurt.
But again, sorry, I put that out there as a hope and a prayer for the Flames fans,
that this isn't a complete debacle to move forward.
I mean, look, compete your ass off great, sure.
It's not about this year.
But this fan base is so smart.
They've been clamoring this for years.
It's true.
Because we saw it with Eginla and Beaumister and Kipersoff where you watched this team
that wasn't good enough that consistently finished ninth to 12th,
then you don't get playoffs.
You don't get high picks.
And it's like, you just keep slapping pain on it.
We used to call it peak sadness.
You don't get high picks and you don't have the thrill nor the revenue of a
playoff run.
And it is a fan base that says we can't be this mediocre mucky middle anymore.
Pick a path.
Go to the draft lottery odds on daily faceoff.com.
We got them updated every morning.
Flames are an eighth.
Is Kent Hughes in Montreal, loving what he?
he saw last night now having Sean Monaghan on the market?
Look, people have been all over me.
They torched me when I said Sean Monaghan is going to, I said this 10 days ago.
Sean Monaghan is going to get you a late first round pick.
No, he's not.
Sorry, go ahead, Frank.
What would you like to wager?
We should wager something.
Bottle of whiskey?
I got one right here.
Yeah, exactly.
By the way, is Rhett's.
That's going to be how Redd pays for this, by the way.
Is one of these is going to go missing.
No.
Seagrams is going to be out one bottle of V.
for people that aren't familiar. I went to the whiskey bar last night before dinner and they had a bottle
of plantons there. That's where we're setting the price. All right. All right. I know.
I've already looked for when I tried to get it. Remember what he's like, hey, what's your address?
Yeah, that was BS. He did try to get you a bottle, but you were flying with only carry on. Anyway,
we're getting down the path here. Yeah. Thanks.
Anyway, so Monaghan for a first. You're saying not going to happen. It's happening.
All right. Okay.
Happening. Like, seriously, I would, I would bet I would bet a mortgage payment on it.
Where do you see him going? Is it? Because we talked to
about Colorado Boston a ton with Lindholm.
Are those the teams that could use another center?
I just see him as a three, not a two.
And that's sort of like, if he's a two, you're not winning the cup is how I feel about it.
No, but he can also play the wing.
He doesn't skate well.
So that, I dispute that.
Okay.
Compare him to Henrique.
I don't think Henrique gets you first.
That's so good.
Compare him to Henrik.
Now, does Linhol being off.
You guys also were sitting here saying exactly what we just talked about that look at the downseason
Lindholm's having.
There's no way they're going to get a package like this.
That's just their negative advantage.
I was kind of man.
If you compare the career track records of Lindholm and Monaghan,
they're completely different players.
Monaghan's greatest skill is gone.
He was a lock for 30 a year, and he's not a good shooter anymore.
He's had too many wrist injuries.
He's injury prone.
The salary is enticing.
I'll give you that.
But you know that's not what it's about right now.
This is micro.
We've got a team that can win right now.
Here's a guy that can play down the middle and score.
One of the other centers is off the market.
It's not about what they've done to this point.
It's what's he going to do from us from now till June.
I think he's a good ad.
I just don't think he's a first.
Yeah.
Like, what do we bet in?
This is good.
I just told you.
I'd put a mortgage payment on it.
That's how strongly I feel about it.
Hey, honey, I just made a bet with Frank.
What's our mortgage payment?
The Saravale estate has been paid for for a long time.
What's a mortgage payment says Frank Saravelli?
I have never heard of this.
I have no idea.
Let's talk Tanev.
That's the Pinder House.
I know.
Have you heard much about?
Calgary.
socialite. Because you mentioned
there was some rumbling, maybe he's going to be in this
deal, because we know Vancouver would love to add a blue
liner as well, but it got, maybe it's too big.
It's a separate deal on its own.
I think you get more doing that too. It sure feels
I think you get more separating for sure. Yeah.
Not that this changes anything,
but it's clearly sell time
for Calgary. It feels now like it
now you've got the market cornered. You just
move the Premier Center
and now
potentially the top two
definitely if Hannafins on the market, the top defenseman available, but potentially the top two.
I agree.
And that's why I think this All-Star break is critical because I think at the end of this break, as
Craig Conroy continues to make calls, the very next thing he has to figure out on his priority list
is a yes or no firm answer from Noah Hannafin.
Are you back or are you not?
They play Feb-6 against Boston.
That's their first game back.
Does he have an answer by then from Hannaf?
I would have put it to him if he doesn't have an answer.
I think he's not.
I don't think he's traded by then.
I'm saying, okay, when you come back, it's yes or no.
That gives you 32 days to make magic, or 30 days, probably with February, it's a leap year, 30 days exactly to make your deal.
Or sign the contract.
Well, if he's signed, sign it.
You said that the other day it's just a bad omen when a guy turns down 60 million, and then it's like, maybe I should reconsider.
You want people to want to be there because it might get ugly for a bit here.
You know it's getting.
We just talked about selling.
It has to get uglier before it gets better.
And so the point being then, the last thing you want to find out is 18 months in.
He goes, oh, man, I really don't want to be in Calgary.
This is my own personal opinion.
And I'm probably more cutthroat than most.
I would already be shopping and making the deal.
Like, I'm not going back to him and saying, hey, you know, we did this first.
And, you know, I gave you every single thing you wanted, but you didn't sign it.
I don't go.
I don't know what's traded for or what's changed for Hannifton.
Hanifah.
Like, you're losing guys.
Like, he's not getting more enticed to stay.
No.
You've got your answer.
If I'm Greg Conger, I already know my answer.
And I told you guys what the issue was,
wants to play in the U.S.
That's what he told them a year ago.
Last time I checked, Calgary still plays in Canada.
And you're full of data today.
And we'll be for the foreseeable future.
Math, geography.
That's a lot.
Yeah, it's a lot.
Does this change, because I'm with you.
We knew that Lindholm was probably going to be dealt.
And now that that's done, I think we believe for sure Tanev's going to be dealt.
Now that it's easier to start to see that bigger picture, because you know what the return for Lindholm is.
It's Kuzmenko and a lot of futures.
If you were on, because I think we were, it's, you know, a sign Hanof.
He's still young.
He could play.
I don't think on an eight-year deal.
He's going to, the wheels are going to fall right off in year seven and eight.
Should age well.
But does it change your thinking now a little?
Because like you and I were kind of closer to being sign him.
Whereas you were like, no, let's move forward and try and get younger.
Because I feel like that changed a little bit.
I still don't think that owning Hanifin or having him signed is a bad thing
because I think you can move him at any point.
Whether your return is the same or not, maybe he's different.
Why hasn't the market been stronger for it?
That's the only thing I don't really understand.
You've said that consistently there's just not a great, look, he's a great second
pair defenseman.
I don't want to pay $7.5 million for that.
We heard you talking about Philopronic earlier.
Like he's got some considerable tools that Lindholm doesn't have.
Like he's a better player.
Devon Taves or Devon Taves in Colorado, better player, seven and a quarter.
Why would you lock into a second pair guy for the second half of his career when you're starting a retool?
Especially when theoretically there could be, you know, more prospects.
Would you argue their depth on D?
Because now that Shillington's back, you really don't have anyone.
that you would say is a year away.
Like a training camp next year,
do you expect anyone to be getting a top six role?
You could probably have some kids in that third pair,
whether that's Kuznetsov or Sloviav or...
But they're depth guys, and they're not...
They don't have high ceiling.
So that's the only...
He's missed the whole season with a slice in his arm or whatever.
I think the Shillington thing actually changes the calculus.
Because think about how we were talking about this before,
and it's really been an unknown,
and frankly, it kind of still isn't unknown
until you get him back and he finishes the year.
But the big reason that I saw to re-sign Hannafin was,
if you really want to be competitive in two to three years,
it might take you that long to replace the other pieces in your...
So if you...
So my thought process was I had kind of parked Shillington out of the picture
and said you can go Wiger, Anderson, Hanifan.
That's your three building blocks.
Then now if you could sub out Hannafin for Shillian,
And not to say they're equals because they're not, but let's remember two, 20 months ago when Shillington was, was clearly trending towards top four defensemen, if not there.
He was with Tannab. He just was.
I think it changes the discussion. And I think what it does is it gives you more comfort at night if you're Craig Conroy to say, you know what?
If I just cut bait with this guy and move him, then I've at least got my backside covered.
I could see them going to free agency and finding a defense first, second pair guy to play with Shillington.
If they're going to move Hannafin and Tanniv, that's somewhere where I would see them spending money and be like, look, we'll overpay a bit.
But you need a type of player to play with Shillington.
It was Daryl that figured it out.
He came to camp as like a seventh, eighth guy in the org.
He'd spend a ton of time in the American League.
He was playing against men at 16 in Sweden.
It was almost, it was like, shit or get off the pot time for him.
And Daryl, the new coach, who you're like, ooh, I don't know if he's going to like this, like a bit of a fly around.
player.
He had him as a forward on opening night.
Yeah.
Is that weird?
Extra skater.
Yeah.
And you put him with TANF and it all just clicks.
And I think that's a really big compliment to TANF.
And I think it's, they're going to go try to find diet TANV and free agency to play with Shillington if they know he's coming back.
What about Diet Frank?
That's what I want.
No, you don't.
I don't want that.
No one wants that.
You want full cream, Frank.
That's what you want.
No.
Full fat.
Speaking of body by milk.
All right.
It feels like we're done.
Boy, that's a lot.
That's a show.
Anything else that's kind of bubbling around the league,
we're so focused because the Flames have three of the top five in the board.
Now two in the top five.
So what?
You need to remake the board.
Two of the top four, hopefully.
Yeah.
Sean Monaghan can't be the number one.
Can he?
If you think he's getting a first, maybe he is.
Well, he's getting a first, buddy.
It's interesting.
This is, you wonder if you look back and Flames fans will have their fingers crossed.
If you look back, like you say, at this being a.
perfect storm. Not only do they have these three players, but they're arguably the three best at
the position. If a team's looking for quality, Lindholm was the top guy there.
It says a lot about the market, like, not dumping it's just the market is not great. And the
flames have it cornered. So to be a seller. What a time to do it. This deadline with these
particular individuals. You were getting antsy about this. I absolutely was. No, I absolutely
You were a nervous Nelly. I think they're going to do well on these deals. I just wasn't sure that the
first player plus that whole thing
just who feels
it well Vancouver clearly feels it
yeah they clearly feel and that's a down year
for Lindholm they got all that that's wild imagine if you
have a 30 goal pace
I just think it's fair yeah
it's interesting too it
there wasn't really a bidding war
was there this was just Vancouver saying
this is the player we want and we want them now
and we're prepared to pay
I don't get the sense that this was them
against Colorado or anything
else. Conroy said four or five days ago got the word, went around, nobody else was
coming close and it was Vancouver and he just managed to squeeze until he got what he wanted
and maybe a little bit more. I don't even know how much squeezing there was. I think it was more just
well, you're not getting our top prospect in Lecker-Mackie, but what else is next on your list?
Oh, that Braskevich guy, he's interesting here in Kitchener. Why, like, let's just take a chance.
It reminds me the Tofoli deal a bit, not to get too sidetracked, but you knew what you wanted.
It was a good fit.
You paid a price that was fair.
Both sides said we'd do it again.
And I kind of thought at the time the Tofoli deal, like my initial gut reaction, I was like, oh, that's a little underwhelming.
I was underwhelming.
On the return or whether?
Yeah, because first off, it happened so fast and you're like, well, did you really go through the whole market?
This is four days before the draft.
We got more than you got first round.
We thought it was going to be a first round pick.
To Foley had 30 whatever goals, right?
This was going to be, you get a first round and kind of thing.
And then it was a third round.
Oh, sorry.
I was talking about when they got Tafoli, like beat the deadline goal.
No, no, when they traded Tafoli away, we were.
Yeah, it was like, who is?
That's how you felt about the deal.
You're like, oh, 24-goal guy's rookie year that'll probably never do that again.
Yeah, he goes 24 to 16 goals.
Like, what happens?
He's got that now already.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
Thank you, sir.
What's up for the rest of the day?
Some pickle ball or?
Pick a ball.
You're looking at it, buddy.
Whiskey.
There's a ball.
There you go.
Appreciate you, Frank.
See you guys.

Looking at some of the merch.
A lot of leafs and oilers stuff.
We've got some new barn burner gear.
Did you see the black barn burner hoodie?
It's a very nice.
What do we got there?
Very nice.
Sneaky.
Limited edition.
I hope one of those doesn't, hope it doesn't go miss them.
Nationgear.ca.
That's right. It is Nationgear.com.
It is Nationgear.com.
We're also, you can go.
and sign up for the Barnburner Bolorama.
It's a very rare thing.
It's like Haley's Comet, but maybe a little less rare.
Every 10, 11 years.
And not only that, it's a leap day, like this day on the calendar.
The wall goes every four years.
Can't do it the year out, no.
It feels like the Olympics.
We should do this every four years.
Feb 29 at Splitsville, formerly Let's Bowl.
I went there with Kevin Webster and Lisa.
We went and scoped out the joint, and Kevin said,
Yeah, this place will be good.
This is up to our standards.
It's going to do.
Yeah.
So we are going to, we're going to be rolling in support of kids sport,
Feb 29, teams of four.
Now, in terms of how many lanes, because I know Bart is the owner, he said, I like to keep
a couple lanes just in case, technical, but it's all computerized and they can fit five.
I think it's five per team.
So we're going to have some celebrities and dignitaries and luminaries.
People with monocles and top hats.
You know what?
It's more people that consider themselves celebrities.
It doesn't matter if it's all part of it, right?
You've got to feel it.
In 2024, I identify as a celebrity.
There'll be a couple of skids too.
A lot of skids.
Yeah, there'll be some real riffraff.
We're going to have some real losers hanging out, but, you know, that's what it's all about.
It's for the kids, guys.
This guy slept in a dumpster.
It's for the kids.
But, I mean, all that aside, we did it the first time in 2013, and I still look back.
It's because you only have so many lanes.
So it's not as far as much how many attended,
but as far as success and good vibes and people talking about it afterwards,
people loved it.
It was one of the favorite events that we did.
Bowling is great for mixing about,
and you know you've got a couple minutes before your next turn.
You can go get a drink, talk to it, go shake hands,
get a photo with a celebrity, super social.
It's not like golf where you, you don't get somebody waiting behind you.
Not separated.
Yeah.
If you're golfing and there's a luminary on the course, you wouldn't even know.
What about a dignitary?
It's like, yeah, dignitary.
Or a visionary or a skid.
Yeah.
So we're looking forward to it.

Yeah, what is the capital of Arkansas?
I don't know.
Is it Big Rock?
Arkansas.
It's not Big Rock.
That's a beer.
Little Rock.
Little Rock.
Bill Clinton, right?
Colin Ray.
Did not have sexual relations with that woman.
Okay.
I think I'm on a road here in Little Rock.
Oh, yeah.
I remember that.
Hey.
Colin Ray.
It's Little Rock.
You knew that, right?
Yeah, for sure you did.
So the Pinder Report for Village House.
This is usually where there's a lot of fart videos and guys getting picked in the nuts.
Sharks.
Cangaroos.
People getting hurt.
Ladders.
A lot of ladder fads.
Ladders.
A lot of ladder fissaps.
Above ground pools.
We've seen a lot of those too.
People getting nearly decapitated.
And icy walkways.
A lot of those like doorbell cams.
Yeah.
This is where we do that.
Yeah.
So what do you have for us today?
Well, the challenges is that our boy Jack, who produces the show.
He and I compile what we like to call it to technical.
technical term. Don't let it bog things down. Dumb shit. And then he will play that. But Jack is
currently at the Bulldog pub in Whitefish, Montana, drinking a pitcher in each hand, living his
best life. Go get America, Jack. So instead of dumb shit, we will say thank you to Village
Honda, located in the Northwest Auto Mall. And online at VillageHonda.com. The 2024 Honda
Accord redesigned last year chosen by Car and Driver Magazine is the number one mid-sized
sedan. Already one of the most
reliable vehicles on the road is
even better than ever. Superior
ride quality, reliability and impressive
fuel economy thanks to the
XL hybrid. It is
Village Honda. It's been one of those
winners where you need a reliable car.
Yeah, I was thinking about that. Sometimes you
think about unreliable cars? I don't have
reliable cars. My cars were just in the shop
and it's very expensive. You need to
go to Village Honda. That's the answer to you.
What are you doing? Village Honda.
You're on the show every day. I don't know what
I don't know what you're waiting for.
It's not new.
I don't know what you're waiting for.
So we were talking yesterday, and I would know, how do you feel about Toronto, the city?
You can't park your pickup.
Yeah, it's not a pickup city.
Where is anybody parking?
How are you parking?
It's a big city, guys.
There's not a lot of parking in big cities.
You know what it is?
It's too big.
It's too friggin big.
And again, context, context.
You grew up in a town of how many people?
1,200.
Yeah.
It's too big for that guy.
It's too big.
Yeah.
I hear you.
It was not for everyone.
I was walking downtown yesterday.
I was like, I was getting my chest.
It's getting tight.
I'm getting anxious, anxiety.
It's like, I couldn't live here.
You don't have to.
You just come for three days and fly home.
Oh, that's too many.
No, you're fine.
Too many.
Too many.
It's too many.
I was walking down the street today and I ran into a actual dignitary.
This was awesome.
Really?
I was on the phone and all of a sudden I'm like,
oh, is that who I think it is?
And I'm still talking.
I can't say anything.
And Rhett goes right up with the big.
paw, huge handshake, a hug, an embrace.
What?
You love hugs.
Rent loves hugs.
You hug the guy.
Think about who this has to be for him to hug.
He hates hugs.
Lanny McDonald.
No, you're getting close.
Same neighborhood.
They're both in the same building on Front Street.
A couple of the same team.
One a cup together.
That's right.
See, I was going to say Peter Marr, because of course he's in the mall.
No player.
Want a cup together.
That's all you need to hear.
We have a big trade today.
It was part of a big flames trade.
ever the worst trade in flames history five for five with Toronto he's got it's Doug Gilmore
Dougie Dougie Gilmore teach me how to Dougie no way big hug you played together in
Buffalo yeah we were good buds in Buffalo he caused me to play one of my worst hockey games
ever in this town all right explain yeah took me out on the town he's he's very well versed
and getting into bars and social socializing and it was 430 and we were
playing the next day and he was I actually think he was retired or not playing that game
sneaky I was actually remember seeing him in the stands and I was like you son
you did this to me out all night it's the night where I chased Sundeen around the net
twice and then I just stopped and stood by the net I'm done I'll just wait here when you're
ready to come towards me I'm done skating if you can continue if you want you if there was a trophy
for playing guilty like the the origin brewing hungover
man of the year. That was your calling card.
You tried to be one of them. Dougie beat you. He beat
you at your own game. Owned me.
Why is he so fond? Numerous. Okay. Why is he like you?
Because we had Dougie in the studio at the radio station
one time. He walks in, Dougie retro.
He's hugging it out with him.
You're not a likable guy.
And you didn't pass the buck. It was off the
glass bouncing on its side. Why would he like you?
He knew what he was getting when he hung out with me.
That's all. Yeah.
The good running mate.
Herpes. Oh.
No, we didn't, we didn't share.
Oh, all right.
There's no scary.
I was saying, honest to God, I was thinking that last night.
We were sitting in that pub.
You're thinking about herpes?
We had, yeah.
What's going on here?
What hell's going on?
This guy was off his game.
I don't know if you noticed last night.
Did you see where he sat down at the pub?
Yeah.
In behind in the corner.
No exit strategy.
No place to die.
I said, are you feeling all right?
Yeah, he usually has a, like, where's the emergency exit?
He's strategically located.
It's almost as if he didn't even cross the street.
He wouldn't jaywalk.
He walked all the way up to a lot.
light. I'm like, is there an outstanding warrant for
Rhett Warner? What's going on? There was some
strategy to my spot, but
it was a distracted strategy.
I had a viewing lane.
Oh, yeah, Lisbon.
Lisbon.
The Portuguese.
Oh, that bar is that.
It was a viewing lane, and I got to
kind of, yeah, my priorities.
I've never been to Porto, but gosh, the photos
look pretty. Although, retro at one
point, now, where was I sitting
as it pertained to retro?
At the Lisbon? At the pub?
Yeah.
Yeah.
You would have been...
Right next.
Right beside him.
Yeah.
I get a text from Rhett at one point where he's stuck in there.
What's that bottom one saying?
I can't.
I can't.
I just...
I need to go.
I need to get out of here.
I just can't.
I can't.
And I said, I was like, gosh, we'd be in an Uber long ago.
So that was late in the night.
I managed...
Not for you.
Four venues after that, believe it or not.
So we ran into our pal Casey.
from Greta, who is a legend.
And they're opening up at Greta here in Toronto.
I believe he said April it's going to be open.
Let's go, Greta.
Greta's amazing.
Obviously, all the arcade games, new school, old school, good vibes, music, young and old,
good millabout mixing.
Yeah.
And he, of course, is networking here.
He knows all these people.
So, oh, we're going to go to that place.
I'll go to that place.
We've got to go here.
We're going to go there.
It's like three to four more venues after you guys left last night.
He was the perfect guy to mate for me last night.
Yeah, because I was not going to.
No, you guys are down for the count.
how many of them were public places and how many yeah because
yeah we went to this first place and it was a club and it was total pender just
it was the second place was full pender the other ones were
and then you started ringing up people you knew
well i don't think you're reading up anyone no no but we ran into some people yeah
there was uh it's a vortex
there's a vortex former capital yeah we there was some i remember seeing one uh he was just a young
man a young lad at the
Prospects tournament.
The best thing is that this
Dolt thinks that everyone he's ever met
in his life is they're tight.
No, no.
A three-minute conversation in 2012
constitutes friendship.
I know who your agent is.
We can talk for an hour, right?
He missed ordering dinner last night
because he was kibbitzing and talking to people.
Then he sits down, oh, is the kitchen's closed?
Oh.
Does anybody have any leftovers or anything?
One from each of you.
I can make a meal here.
I'm trying to remember who it was.
You know who it was?
It was Jake.
It was Jake.
One of the big head honchos with the company.
He said to me, I have to get out of here before I get pindered.
It's a verb now.
He used pindered.
Well, Frank's been using it too.
I know.
I know.
A good word.
Yeah.
You take pride in that, hey?
You're happy.
It's me.
Look at you.
I am.
Now, how's the hair?
I can't see.
I got no longer here.
I was telling retro.
Yesterday morning, we fly out of Calgary.
It's one of the first flights out.
Where are we meeting?
go have breakfast hour at this.
So you walked down to the very end of the
turn or whatever you want to call it.
It's the last restaurant.
I turn in and there's this awful looking human.
That's me.
Yeah.
Just greasy.
Leading over the bar top,
eating scrambled eggs.
It's pender.
He looks like an absolute sloth, slob,
like just the dreck of society.
The hair everywhere.
That's my guy.
Do you remember the hyenas and the Lion King?
That's the vibe I got right.
That is you.
long necks and there's just fur everywhere and just,
ah,
because I'm realizing now that the mullet goes with you everywhere.
It fits way more than I ever thought.
For those that are just joining us,
we went to Mollett Arena with like 30 Calgarians
to see the flames and the coyotes,
which is a blast,
do it before they move that team to a state where you don't drink.
And so to celebrate,
we carved a mullet into what was just,
I don't even know how you described a side show Bob before,
now to the mullet.
What's next?
We're going to go full ally of radio.
and just put a sundial up top or whatever.
It's really good.
Solar panel.
We'll do a little bit of ask, Rhett, for our buddies,
but truly buddy over at Bontan meets.
Great Keller.
You know Bontan Meets, they are the very best.
Are you still sour about the birthday?
It was.
It was a wicked birthday.
Just awesome.
Yeah.
You basically ran a shuttle for your kids' sport.
To get some Bontan meats to Ratt in time for the birthday.
The person in charge of this is amazing.
because that person knows that the birthdays for all the people that she celebrates.
They don't sneak up?
They're not, they're, yeah, they're not.
They don't change every year?
It's the same day every year, yeah.
But yet it continually is a panic and a last minute, oh, my God, this snuck up on me type of scenario.
She did reach out and ask for, had an inquiry about moving meat across a border.
Your mistake is living too far away from Bon Tonmies.
You don't live in another country than Bon Ton and expect Bon Ton.
That would be silly.
Perhaps.
Just not about meat.
Can you bring, you can't bring meat?
You can, but it's a certain.
You're really going to, you got to really.
Yeah, you got to really want.
They're going to hang you, aren't they?
Got it really want.
Well, anyway, if you live in Calgary, you don't need to worry about that.
You don't.
You just go to 28 crowfoot circle and get as much as you need.
Fill your freezer.
Take a cooler.
Yeah, take a cooler.
Fill it right up to the brim.
So a little bit of ascarat.
Now, I'm going to grab my laptop here.
Oh.
One guy, the other was I've kind of dissected, and I can give you the,
capture the spirit of the thing.
But this fellow went into,
to great detail.
Tough to be last week.
We had a great one last week.
My buddy's an idiot.
He's getting married for the third time.
Yeah, my buddy's an idiot.
He's upgrading.
He's making wise choices.
Just continual.
See.
Moving up to that.
And then you take that.
Yeah, but maybe this guy doesn't have anything.
Maybe he's halving his way into better life.
He's holding.
Yeah.
He went from nothing to half to three quarter.
It's a windfall potential.
This is a vibe, by the way.
Check this up.
All you young people are there.
This is what Bieber's wearing tonight.
if you see him.
For Ask Rat for Bontan meets.
Hey, Rhett.
This is from Kevin.
Hello.
I had a couple chores to take care of over the weekend.
One, take the bottles to the bottle depot.
Two, get my skates sharpen.
I whipped over to my local hockey store,
dropped my skates off.
The friendly neighborhood bottle depot right around the corner.
I swung down there while my skates were getting taken care of.
Got some cold hard cash at the depot.
Ten bucks.
Even at the bottle depot.
I thought decent hall.
Get to the counter to pay for my skate sharpening.
It was not enough to cover the sharpening.
Has the cost of skate sharpening gone too far?
I feel like drinking 100 cans of beer should be enough to cover one skate sharpening.
Thanks.
That's from Kevin.
Kevin, I'm with you.
The inflation of skate sharpening is wild right now.
Bullshit right now going out there.
It's a little steel grinder wheel that spins around.
How much can it be?
How many wheels are we ripping through here?
Like, what's the issue here?
My grandpa, in the 80s, said, I'm going to buy you a skate.
Sharpener and you can make money, and I think it was like a buck of, you used to pay with your loony.
Yeah.
Now you get bills and, plus it's no good.
Now, buy your own.
Just buy real.
You just need to buy your own.
Yeah.
Or buy, you know what else?
You know what else?
If you're in a community, you got good neighbors, good friends, pool it.
There's always a guy with a garage or the beer cooler.
That guy needs a skate sharpener.
Yeah.
You're in.
Work together.
Yeah.
What's where's that day?
No, it's just because you're going to have a lot of deadbeats that are going to just drop off.
Yeah, but not everybody hates dead beats.
You, on the other hand, you're your own animal.
Pinder wants a community skate sharpening.
Okay, so I got a couple more here because we do need to, there's some oiler show that's coming up.
They're going to talk about, I don't know.
What are they going to talk about?
Yoroslav Pohzar or some fucking spot check.
They bring it back spot check?
Yeah.
When they hang that banner.
Some fucking Craig Mee.
The banner is going to say really, really, really long winning.
Munis running a bowling alley in Buffalo.
Muni's running a bowling alley in Buffalo.
Yeah, it's going to be great. Kevin McClellan, toughest guy ever. Anyway, so I don't have the names. I just kind of have the gist. This guy, he emailed in. He went and bought some deodorant because he needed some for his, you know, for his hockey bag or whatever.
Sure.
Oh. Gets home and his wife gave him shit and said, you're supposed to get antiperspirant. He said, he's in his 40s and had no idea there was a distinction between deodorant and anti-perspirant.
and that one is supposedly clearly better than the other or that there's two different things.
Better for what?
Now, this is news to me.
What the age?
You're blowing my mind right now.
Those are different things?
Well, apparently.
The anti-perspirants.
You've got to get good deodorant without all the bad stuff for you because it gives you Alzheimer's.
So you heard it here first.
And do seek your physician before taking any of Rett's medical advice.
Deodorant.
Disclamorant gives you Alzheimer's?
How much time, Vic?
Are we almost done here?
I mean, that's quite a bridge to cross.
Yeah, that's, you know, how to get the paraben free.
Parabin, yeah, yeah, all that, yeah.
Electrolites, yeah, sure.
That spray stuff gives me the itchies.
The it's the technical term again.
Remember it had like the ball on top?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It was like the bingo dober.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know there'd be some grandma who would be doing that at the old bingo hall.
Using the armpit stick.
That just yanks the hair.
Oh, yeah, pulls the hairs out.
Son of a man.
Starts to wrap in there.
Yeah.
Get stuck.
So we need to do some looking on this because it's two different things.
I don't know.
Do you need both?
Why, if anti-perspirant is better than what are we doing with deodorant?
Are you layering?
What are you doing here?
Anti-perspirate would seem to, by the name, tell you, it's going to stop you from perspiring, maybe.
The deodorant is just mask in it, maybe.
I was told by a trainer back in the day that if you're not,
nervous about things, you don't sweat and it doesn't stink.
Yeah, so just don't be nervous.
Just live a clean life.
You must never sweat.
No, no stress.
Tell your wife not to be stressed.
They calm down.
Say that.
Chill out.
That really works.
It always works.
Yeah, if you have someone to home and they're worked up, just tell them, hey, calm down.
Calm down.
Yeah, when that person at home that's worked up about nothing gets really worked up,
relax.
Just tell them to calm down.
Yeah, just relax, babe.
And this one here.
See, that's what that guy that got married three times needs.
Advice like that.
Any person?
To the people that missed it, it was a guy last week, he said, my buddy is an idiot, getting married for the third time.
Third time, he's been asked to be the best man.
Do I have to, I'm the best man, do I really have to throw a third bachelor party?
Do I need to rent a tux three times, the whole thing?
Boy, the noun bachelor is doing a lot of work for your third marriage, isn't it?
I, jeez.
I don't know.
As you said, though, if you're upgrading, then maybe it's worse.
We're not.
I can't advise that necessarily broadly.
No.
This one again, and I'm just going to paraphrase because it was on the thing there.
The guy, another, it's a revelation maybe that guys have.
Toonails versus fingernails, how often he cuts his fingernails compared to toenails.
He says he's about five times to one.
It's a five to one ratio, fingers to toes.
to toes is, should he be doing it more?
Should it be one to one?
He wants to know how often you cut.
What's your ratio?
The ratio fingers to toes.
I would actually say I'm more than five to one.
You're three to one guy?
No.
10 to one.
Really?
I let the toes rock.
So you got like glacially slow movement from your toenails.
Yeah.
Well, part of the issue is getting the bit like I got long arms, but my gut still gets
in the way.
It's, it is a bit of an ordeal.
I feel like it's almost circ to solilo.
just to clip your toenails.
That's why we're spacing it out too.
Because sometimes you'll feel it when,
if you're wearing a different type of shoe or whatever,
it's like my freaking feet kind of hurt.
Oh, you know what?
It's because my toenails digging into the end of the shoe, maybe.
I wait until I get a, you're scratching the sheets.
Yeah.
Catches on the socks.
Or you catch the shoveler.
Oh, yeah.
My wife loves that when the old Raptor Talon maybe scrapes her on the shin.
Ouch, would you cut your goddamn tone?
What a catch you, all right?
Babe
Help me out here, honey
Raptor talent
I can't reach those things
They're all yellow and shit
What about that
When they're the dead one
Oh yeah
You think I'm touching that
That's gross
Yeah
While you're down there baby
That's a scintillating edition
Of Ask Red
Hey that's what it's about folks
That's what it's about
It's asking real life questions
Life's answers
Real life problems
You get real life answers
From Rhett Warner right there
So you're 10 to 1
Oh at least
They go a long time
Now, do you trim them or do you sometimes, if you're sitting around, you just kind of, legs cross, you're picking away, maybe peel one off?
I peel down the side because I got one, my old man got an ingrown nail.
Oh, shit.
You don't want that.
You do not want that.
It's like having the gout.
Oh, you know what?
I got, the old damn, the algorithm on social media, I got caught down some deep, dark vortex.
Because you're like, where they show the doctor that's cut them out.
Fuck me.
Because you're a Mr.
The Dr. Pimple Popper, you're big on her.
I don't mind the Pimple Popper.
The ingrown hairs
when they're hauling those things out.
I don't mind some of that.
But this one here where they take that blade
and they start cutting down,
they're cutting the skin.
I just threw up in bed.
That's a choice, Dean.
God.
Hold yourself responsible for that.
The original Bontan meat market
opened its stores in 1921
and all they've done since
is provide the highest quality product.
Treat customers like family.
The best AAA Alberta beef,
free range poultry.
Grain-fed Alberta lamb, milk-fed veal, and of course, fresh Alberta pork.
And, of course.
Potato salad.
Potato salad.
The best.
Would you guys stop talking about the potato salad?
Extra down.
And then I got my staff.
They're having to stop and start making new batches.
Bacon.
Get the potatoes.
Extra bacon.
Bontan, the Calgary Consumer Choice Award winner for Best Deli Meat Market, 28 Crowfoot Circle, in the Northwest.
Okay, I got two things for you here, because I know you want to know what's on the menu.
and we also got a Betway set of bets.
And I'm very excited about the dumb Super Bowl bets we get into.
I got some of that for you.
Okay, betway, get the Betway app in your phone.
Play along.
Of course, the big game coming up next weekend.
You talk about props, right?
Yeah.
You give me a look.
I'm like, how the hell am I getting that?
Well, it's your girl, Reba McIntyre.
Didn't you guys date back?
Oh, yeah, I love redheads.
Firecrotch.
Oh, Jesus.
And look at the time again.
The national anthem, she's going to sing it.
Is she?
Yeah.
Do you know that?
No.
Okay.
In Vegas.
Reba's in Vegas.
If you don't know, now you know.
Wow.
The over-under is 90.5 seconds, which someone told me is around a minute and a half.
Harf.
Minute and a half.
A minute and a hearth.
The under's minus 110.
The over minus 115.
You've got to do some homework.
I'm going to have to do some homework.
It's been a while.
You should reconnect.
The other thing we always are curious about is the color of the gatorade, right?
Purple, a surprise leader at plus 225.
It's no purple.
Red slash pink at plus 275.
350 is yellow, 375 blue, orange.
Talk about a dark horse at 450.
That number's singing to me.
450 for orange?
Are we discounting orange that much?
I need to, because the Chiefs have won some Super Bowls.
They have.
We need to do some data, see what they've been doing.
And then there's some even bigger long shots.
You want clearer water plus 1,200 or no Gato water at all plus 1,600.
But come on, you're always spilling something on the coach.
Something's happening.
What if the other, maybe Andy Reid would be smart enough now to get out of the way.
Maybe Taylor Swift comes down to the silent.
that distracted the treadmill
Gator, I don't know.
All right.
This is your swift reference
we got it in.
Betway,
bet the responsible way
with Betway,
the official gaming partner
of Barnburner.
And yes,
I don't know what you're doing here
because we've got no hockey.
For DoorDash,
we need to know what's on the menu.
Of course, DoorDash.
Get the DoorDash app.
And right now,
with the promo code nation,
25,
you get 25% off your first order
of $15 or more
and zero delivery fees.
Damn.
What you want,
from where you want,
when you want it,
right in your front step.
That's what makes DoorDash great.
What's in the menu for DoorDash?
It's a big one.
We got Larry Bird against Magic Johnson.
Lakers at Celtics.
Oh, baby.
It's ESPN Classic.
Let's get it.
That is a 730 tip-off ET, so 530 for the folks door dashing in Calgary.
Larry Bird, a bit of a prick, eh?
Is that right?
Yeah.
Did it have a red ass or what is it?
Jerk?
He was from, where is he from?
The Hick from French Lick.
Okay.
Midwest.
It's got to be Midwest.
Indiana.
Yeah.
Good talk, Dean.
Dash that for the win with DoorDash.
I don't know which one.
You like in Magic's Lakers or Birds?
I don't give a shit.
Okay.
Yeah, I don't care.
Well, that's going to do it.
The Oilers got to come in and talk about Lee Foglin.
Is that right?
Yeah, Lee Foggan.
I hope there's some Yanni Rita references, maybe some Yoni Pitkinan stories.
Yeah, they're going to get in here and start telling you about Ty Conklin.
Ty Conklin, wow, yeah.
Yeah, he was a red hat.
He was a likes to fight.
Red Hat.
Not as much as Cluce.
Clucce.
But yeah, they were both hot heads.
Okay.
Both hot heads.
That's going to do it though from here at the beautiful, the luxurious Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto.
The Flames do not have an all-star.
I don't know why we're here.
But we are and we'll be here again tomorrow doing much the same.
Sorry about that.
Making trades.
Making trades.
And if Conroy wants to do us a solid, trade Tanev today.
That'd give us content for tomorrow's show.
tomorrow's show. Not a huge ask.
You can trade him anyway. Just train him anyway.
It's like an 18 list. It's not that hard.
Not a little.
Let's let it. See you, buddies.
