Hello.
I just noticed something.
What are the colors you're wearing?
Blue.
Look at your hat.
Jays.
But look at the colors.
Blue.
Now, not blue jays.
Blue skies.
I'm talking about the blue skies.
There's no blue skies to talk about.
And there's lots of blue jays to talk about.
So it's sun showers.
Oh, good.
Ah, not sun showers.
This is like Vancouver winter.
We're having here in.
July.
If you're in the mountains and it's snowing on you,
please send us a picture.
Yeah, please do.
I know many people in the mountains are streaming
our show life on YouTube.
Has summer started yet?
They're stuck in a snowstorm.
They probably are.
That day I golfed like three weeks ago.
We were like 50 meters, 100 meters from the snowline.
There was like three feet of snow.
That was the longest day of the year.
Solstice.
Ah, we'll get to it.
What's complaining, Jack?
Jack, stop whining.
Christ, walk in here.
Bring everybody down.
B.
Talk about rain clouds.
It's right over them.
Come on.
I put on your favorite song when you want that's a good point.
That's true.
That's true.
Welcome to the program.
It is Barnburner.
It is a Rhett Jack Pinder edition.
Sands the Boomcat.
Also a smiley cat.
Smiley cat.
He doesn't need the rain clouds.
He casually mentioned last week that he wasn't coming in this week.
Which is how he rolls.
That's fine.
We're ready for that.
can handle it.
I'm hoping.
I'm praying.
He's not here.
Because if you were going to do a staycation for this shit.
Yeah, this is your.
I walked in a barn burner.
It's brought to you by Bet365.
Great book.
Great app.
Great times.
And, yeah, of course, be responsible, B19,
all that fun stuff.
The old Bet365 is we getting a workout with the Blue Jays.
I was going to say, I hope you've been riding the Jays.
Bernie Clement against lefties was like my go-to
and then he went O for last night.
I'm like, ah, but he'd been on a heater.
Can't get 400 forever against lefties, I guess.
What is going on with the web?
Jack, you want to put up what I said?
Because I just thought, you know, like it's Calgary
with crazy weather.
But then Red explained that, well, I didn't look at it,
but you got a reason.
Well, it's odd because,
Jack set that text and I was on the phone with the guy and he's like,
can you believe this?
So he is deep down the rabbit hole?
Oh, he's like, have you gone down this rabbit hole?
I'm like, no.
And then Jack texts.
Is it ever going to stop raining?
And then I replied because it was.
No.
So basically, long story short.
I want to show it, Jack?
There's a huge conspiracy where someone's controlling the weather here and they're
screwing us.
The harp system.
Yeah, the harp system.
By the way, if you have any crazy conspiracies for your
free to jump in, fire up a super chat, all the proceeds.
All the money goes to the youth centers of Calgary.
Great place for kids to go after school.
Maybe they aren't living privileged lives like our children, brats that are in sports all day.
Maybe they just, you know, got to kill some time for folks going from work.
Safe place, healthy meal, friends, pick up some life skills, maybe bump in some mentors,
use centers of Calgary.
All our super chat money goes there.
So fired up.
Fire it up.
So anyway, someone's decided it's going to rain in Calgary all summer.
They're screwing us.
Yeah, it's a conspiracy.
Well, it's not a conspiracy.
It's a scientific.
Right.
Yes.
It's science.
And all the meteorologists are in on it.
They're part of the actors.
What is it?
Well, when you say meteorologists, all I think of is the dorks on the news.
Yeah.
See, I think there's a difference to be a weatherman and a meteorologist.
You know what?
It was Julian McKenzie, wasn't it?
We've done a bunch of long form chats.
And Julian covered the flames for the athletic for a couple seasons here.
He's now in Ottawa and the senators beat.
does a podcast, Chris Johnson.
And part of his coming up through media
was working at like CBC and Montreal at one point.
He was writing about the habs on a website.
And they're like, hey, weatherman's on vacation.
You want to come do some weather for the summer?
He's like, what?
So he literally had to do the weather.
I didn't know what he's talking about.
But there are, some of them are just like hot chicks
and miniskirts doing the pointing on the screen.
And other people.
Yes, very popular.
Right at the very top of my list of.
Yeah.
She's nailed that five-day forecast.
But there are also meteorologists.
When I worked at A Channel back of the day, like Dar McPoole was the man.
Remember Dar?
I don't know the name.
He was like a legend.
And he was like major major science weather meteorologist.
You go by his little workstation.
You have all these maps and like looking at like different weather centers and winds and
barometric pressure.
And you're like, that's a meteorologist.
Someone just reading a website and being like, oh yeah, high at 25 tomorrow chance of showers.
That's not a meteor.
That's not.
Okay.
I got a backwards.
Well, it's just that if you're just trying to TV.
So maybe it is the meteorologists that are behind the schools.
The weathermen are.
They're controlling the weather.
They are innocent.
You weathermen, you keep up a great job.
Yeah, meteorologists, you guys.
We're on to you.
And by the way, since you can control the weather, like go put out the forest fires.
How about you control it?
Yeah.
Use your power for good, not for evil.
Dumbies.
God.
It's like Folk Fest this weekend is supposed to rain.
Is it Folk Fest?
Yeah.
Jack, you getting banged up at Folkfest?
You know, it's Folk Fest.
Oh, dear.
Music on Prince Edward Island.
Downtown.
Princess Island.
Oh.
Are you talking about?
Smogrooms.
Did some put some of my coffee?
Holy!
I'm like, what?
It started in Prince Edward Island.
That's the ways away.
No, downtown Calgary every year.
They have an amphitheater there and they bring in a bunch of acts and it's like music for like eight hours.
Yeah, but I thought Folk Fest.
When I grew up, Folk Fest in Saskatoon was different venues had different.
countries with their food and entertainment.
So you went to the Irish.
Cultural events.
Yes, it was a cultural.
Yeah.
The one here,
I think I've been once or twice.
And typically it's like a bunch of different acts.
It's all music.
Everyone lays out their picnic blankets and gets banged up and,
you know,
people in downtown condos moan about the sound.
And you're like,
okay,
that's,
that's folk fest.
Maybe there's the same thing where they're different.
Maybe there's two festivals.
Either way,
there's many festivals.
Either way,
Jack's buggering off.
Somewhere warmer and better.
You know what he sent me today?
the five-day forecast.
Guess what?
Manana.
God looks nice.
And he looks like a man tanning.
He's a Montana man.
Look at him.
He's,
he can taste that freedom when he starts driving south.
Roll down the window,
just catch a whiff of that freedom.
Wrestling Grizzlies.
Yeah.
Legal card games in the back of pubs.
Yes.
Canadian dollar par at the bar.
They don't do that anymore.
They don't do that anymore.
I mean, look, wherever when there was like save the oilers, save the flames?
That was like a 62 cent dollar.
They were doing it that.
Come on, pull your socks up, whitefish.
Ah, tariffs.
It's too many tariffs.
Yeah, sure.
Yeah.
Someone's going to figure out how those work.
I don't know who.
No one I've heard to talk about it yet has.
Tariffs?
The countries pay for them.
Okay.
So do you, do you want to elaborate more on the great weather conspiracy?
No, because I don't have a goddamn, no, anything about it.
You got to be in a position.
How are you?
I sent you.
We're not playing.
This is what I'm going to do over the next couple weeks when you're going to really deep dive into the weather conspiracies.
Do you have a favorite conspiracy, Jack?
A favorite conspiracy.
Yeah, like I'm a big.
A lot of these conspiracies.
Some of them have got to be true.
Can't trust everything.
Yeah, do we want to go down this path?
Probably not.
I do like doing this show.
We don't need to get a canceled today.
Oh, who's canceling us?
I saw your boy, uh, Hockey Natt and Scottsdale.
Their show got torn down for a while.
So you can say some things.
he's going to take it down.
Eat daddy.
And Rob Gutier and or,
yeah,
those guys are maniacs,
like maniacs.
Yeah, look where they'd be.
Yeah,
I mean,
they're being maniacs.
I don't even know
who you're talking.
No,
you don't need to.
That's fine.
They're young guys that say
a lot of things,
then many of them not
socially acceptable,
but shockingly
the show had to be
called down and then
I got put back
up a couple weeks later.
Anyway,
good luck to the fellas
as a guest.
It is an anniversary,
so happy anniversary to you.
Thank you.
I know,
oh, my God.
It's a big,
one it's actually not far off
i'm scaring you here holy
what number are we at it if it ends in a
five or a zero you're in trouble if you don't apply there's a zero
really yes
you 20 holy shh that's true
because the lockout lockout
killed them got screwed you
lost of your earnings
got fat travel in the world
lost the year of earnings lost half
went to nimbun blew out your brain
That was the best.
I'd like to go to Nimbin.
You know what Nimbin is that?
Yeah, go to Nimbin.
Ninbin.
Go to the Olympic festivals in Nimbin.
You're going to have one hell of it.
Sorry.
Why don't you just Google Nimbun first and see what comes up first?
Just give us a good room.
How do I spell that?
N-I-M-B-I-N-B-N-B-N-B-N-B-N-B-N-B-N-B-N-B.
Yeah, just like you can't sound it out.
No, that's true.
He's like, he said silent P.
Ph. H-F.
Nimb-N-N-B-N-B-K-K-K, okay.
So you're on the Google machine.
What does Nimbun say?
I'm going to bring it up only because it's not going to happen
and I just kind of want to prove a point.
There was pizza promised,
which was part of the reason I dropped out.
Yeah, this pizza show, Jack, when it was pizza?
When's the pizza get here?
Okay, so there's Nimbun.
It's an inland city in Australia.
Beautiful.
Now, what do you need to know about it, I suppose?
So you see that people also ask,
what is Nimbun known for?
Scroll down to that.
Go down a little.
Yeah, that first little.
Nimbin is famous and known for being a hippie destination,
alternative lifestyle capital.
punch in nimbun hemp olympic
what is the drug problem in nibin what is the drug town near byron bay what is the story
behind yeah so now you're getting it
ret was doing a okay in life and then the lockout hit next thing you know you're in nimbun
max a finnick end off uh troublemaker
that's not the anniversary yours is coming up though so get ready i get two of them
too by the way you're gonna have to explain well when you just kind of disappear and do the
and then the...
Oh, no, you guys eloped, didn't you?
The real thing, yeah.
I know they're, you know, Viena Nova, but two, that's...
Justin.
Justin.
It's not your fault, that's not your fault.
Here's the real anniversary today.
We do this for our good friends at McLeod Law,
as we have our opening statements on what a day it was three years ago today.
The trade is official.
Matthew could chuck to the Florida Panthers with an extension in place.
The first sign-in trade we can remember in NHL history.
Maybe there's no.
The flames will get 115 point left winger, Jonathan Huberto,
top pair defenseman McKenzie Weger, prospect, question mark, Cole Schwint.
And a first round pick.
Pretty good for a guy that demanded a trade.
Way to go, tree.
Who, it's a living.
And honestly, you know what?
Trade grades came out.
Everyone weighed in.
The flames absolutely fleeced.
And I mean fleeced.
Florida Panthers.
So happy anniversary of that happy day.
That trade was just fine.
I remember where I was because it was a crazy day in sports.
There was a rodeo in Invermere.
They do it once a summer.
I think it was last weekend in Invermere.
So we're out.
We're going to the rodeo.
The Blue Jays, it was an absolute bloodbath.
They beat the Red Sox 285.
A laffer, 28 runs.
Are you kidding me?
And then the trade breaks the same day.
And I'm watching some guys playing poker at a table with a bull running around.
like this is the greatest night of my life.
Can't even stand still.
I'm just,
ah!
Look at the got for a job.
The chase got another.
This guy just got true.
He's getting gourd.
That looked like a good deal.
And I could even build you the case that was a good deal.
It's just what's happened since the deal that it was the over.
Schwint lost on waivers.
The first round pick ends up being 32nd, which is the worst pick.
Oh.
First round pick could be.
You can't control that.
No, I mean, you could, yeah, he probably can't control that.
That's fair.
McKenzie Weger, totally fine.
Extension's great.
Value deal, been the best defenseman since he got here after, what, three months of
settling in or so?
It was after Christmas.
Yeah, it was a rough first three months.
That's fine.
You're here for seven, eight, nine years.
The first three months, no big deal.
But the other part, the first part, the Jonathan part.
You could.
It's funny because you go from having a great trade.
I really thought that.
Well, everyone did.
Yeah.
And it was.
Yeah.
To.
And only because I said it at the time.
It shouldn't have signed.
He were,
even the weaker one.
I'm like,
you could have waited because he wasn't going to go anywhere.
And to be fair,
one of them worked very well.
The other one has not worked well at all.
And so you really went.
You hit 500 on the extensions.
But the problem is that you didn't need to sign the extensions.
At the time, you were trying to prove a point.
You rushed to do it.
emotional.
It was it was a send a message to the league that people want to be here.
And it's like, no, they don't.
We got to punch back.
Calgary's a place to me.
And if you hadn't signed Huberto, you'd have been able to dump him at the deadline for a first easy.
So he ended up with two first, weger and of, well, oh, at least.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
You get a roster player or first for improv, something like that.
Hey, it's just not a fit with Daryl.
Let's get him out of here.
Yeah.
Didn't go that way.
By the way, again, our opening statements from Cloudlaw, Peter Klein.
If you're long-term disability insurance people are jerking you around.
Get on the horn, call Peter, straighten them out.
Get the bulldog.
Personal injury guy, but also, yes, disability benefits you paid for and you deserve.
You should get them.
If you need them, get that peace of mind that you paid for back.
Also, of course, Shane King, the litigation and dispute resolution group.
Employee rights, if you've been laid off or terminated, you have to be treated a certain way.
The law says so.
And if you're not, Shane's going to get you in the right spot.
and not going to bog you down with legal jargon.
Practical approach, plain language.
You should look at a matter of sky.
A couple of years.
So the deal.
I really like McKenzie Weger.
He's the best defenseman.
I don't have any problem with the Uighur extension.
And I was a big Uyghur guy before he got here.
The nerd numbers always liked him.
Echblad's numbers are always better with Uighur than without Uighur.
It's not say he's better or worse, but just that he was a very, very nice.
piece on a top pair.
And nobody could have seen coming what happened to Jonathan Huberto.
115 points like top scoring left winger and like the history of the game or something crazy.
And overnight can't replicate that.
And everyone's like, yeah, but he was playing with Barkup.
No, he wasn't.
Like you got some power play time with him.
He spent that year with Anthony Duclair and Sam Bennett.
I touched him.
his dad was chisling assists in the scoring box something like that i have my one complaint is still my
one complaint you made a great trade under the circumstances you were in that was a slam dunk of a
trade you didn't need to sign him that like and you can say well you're an idiot and everyone's
like no that's a good signing no let them fit do they fit in do they fit in yeah there was they were
contract. And I think, and you weren't going to pay Huberto more, even if it was on a
115 point pace again. That's true. You were paying for the peak. Right. That's right. If there was any
sort of regression to the mean or like back to closer to career averages, that wasn't going to cost you
more. You basically were paying him for 115 points. You signed. And again, the Uighur one has absolutely
worked out whether he's, I don't, he's good. Yeah, good play. And it's, and I can't say, well, you shouldn't
signed. I said don't sign either. The reason
I said you didn't have to was because it's the
same thing with Weger. Weger wasn't
going to play so good or so bad
that he was going to go from
what you have him at now, what, six and a
half to 12. And even if he
did, great. There was a narrow band of where
by the way, if you want to vent, you can
see the comments, bottom right, like by all means,
happy anniversary, everyone. So we're here to help
talk it out. That's right.
It's a safe space. We're here to, thank you for sharing
public pain. Thank you for sharing
KQ. Thank you for sharing Mace.
Thank you for
opening up and telling us about your feelings. I hope you feel
better. Yeah, don't do the boomer. Therapy.
Yeah, Vent, that's right. What is
this one? That's what... No, boy, no.
Don't do that. Today it's about this. Let it out.
Let it out. Breathe.
Anyway, Michael, in plain only
was that they've signed those guys to
max dollars immediately to try and send a message.
And you know what? Like, Triliving gets
a lot of flack for things that didn't work here.
And he's got a really, really mixed bag of hits and misses like most GMs in the league.
But it was the first time that, like, there's one outlier of all the things he did here.
He never structured a contract, so bonus heavy, so long term.
Like, that's a one of one contract he gave out.
And that was an emotional response.
And when he talked about it, it's like, we got to punch back.
Calvary's a place people want to be.
We got to prove the, we got to stick up for ourselves.
Like, those are all emotional things.
And he was a guy that always talked about, we need to cool off after the year.
We can't operate emotionally.
We'd take time at the end of the year.
It gets the 24-hour rule times two weeks.
Take it to a account that Cadro was leaving, too.
Well, Cadro had gone, which led to the contract trade request.
So you can understand why he was emotional.
But I think if you asked him what the mistake was there, he probably just would have said,
I was too emotional.
And again, with this organization, we can't really separate the GM from the owner too much in the sense that I wouldn't have been surprised if the,
owner was really emotional.
Wow. And Johnny left him at the altar at 1159.
Yes. Exactly.
Like that, I think that was a nasty story.
So. Yeah. And the team thought they had it done.
The team did low ball Johnny Goddrow that fall.
But he was coming off a weird year.
It sucked, man.
That, uh, it wasn't.
It was a, you look back and it was weird. It's also weird.
And we don't take into account COVID.
Yeah. And that matters.
It really does.
It truly, truly matters.
Yeah. And look, if you're a mailman, it might not have mattered as much.
But if you're a millionaire athlete, COVID sucked way more in Canada than in this.
Way, way, way more.
If your parents could, like, yes.
Yeah.
And so anyway, happy and a, happy anniversary.
It's already gray and blew out.
So nobody's happy.
Sorry, Jack.
Do we know what any of the other offers were?
I think there was one from Carol.
line that involved NACIS.
St. Louis?
I don't know.
That was always rumored because Kachuk's
from there. But I think there was a list of like
three teams at the end. I'd have to go back and
peruse what was being said at the time.
But it sounded like
I remember talking to Trilliving about it. He was just like,
look, we had another deal on the table
and one was going to get us
younger and load us up for the future
longer. And the Florida deal was a
win now deal, which would have
been great if they won now.
Instead, they missed the playoffs.
and the Daryl Brad
situation got dicey
within weeks of the season starting
there was already pot shots from the coach towards players
it was clear it Osam Codry was not going to get along with the coach
and then you really, it forced you into a heavy retool
and it was like Lindholm's looking around saying
I don't know if I need to be around for this anymore
Haniff and Dido Tanna.
That might have just brought out the reality
might have been helpful Lindholm is so.
Yeah, and here we are.
Now a team that's definitely not great and definitely not really bad,
somewhere in the middle there.
And word of caution.
So with all these GMs or not,
it's not even the GM.
So when your team tells you how close they are and how much they love the city they're working,
and do you remember hearing that?
Yeah.
They weren't that good.
Oh, I love it here.
This is great here.
We're a tight room.
We're the tight world.
We love it.
Get me out.
You'd sort of set it.
The teams that are,
the closest, don't need to tell anyone.
You can see. And this group last year was that.
They were very, yep.
And they didn't talk about it because you didn't need to.
Didn't have to. I didn't have to explain. No, I really liked my teammate.
Like the 04 team that you played on, the way you played told everyone all you needed to know about
how much guys cared for each other. Exactly. You should never have to answer that question.
It's not a question. If you either see it or you don't, when you have to tell people that it's a
tight room and it doesn't look like it.
You're like, is it?
And why?
No, I'm not really buying that.
Sorry to start the rainy.
Got anything trapped in.
Show him that harp video.
Yeah, the weather control conspiracy.
We got a great show today.
Dominique Rimes is going to join us from the Calgary stamp here.
That the guy that's in the green mile?
I don't believe he's in the green mile.
No.
Do you mean like a large, large human?
Yeah.
No, the rookies, the big kid, Damian Alfred.
We, uh, we chatted with Dominique this morning and we asked him about Alfred, the moose.
Seen him dancing in the end zone doing this.
First overall pick, he's been unbelievable.
What is it?
Five touchdowns have been up five in his last three.
Three games.
A couple long ones.
And the fellas are doing it.
Ever since I went.
Ever since he went.
Dude, Jack and I are undefeated there.
I mean, Stampeders.
No, you got a game Thursday.
Slide Jack and I on payroll.
Keep this thing roll.
That kid's going to get some NFL calls soon.
He will.
Jack's already gone to chat GPT and made the jersey swap.
Those jerseys are terrible, by the way.
We'll get to us.
Alfred was the first overall pick in the CFL draft 6-6.
Big body looks and moves like a receiver, not like, oh, he's just a huge tight end.
No, he's a receiver.
And has already made numerous highlight reel catches, getting drilled,
dragging a foot to stay in bounds, one-handed catches.
been special.
So we asked the veteran receiver
Rhymes about him,
his past with Vernon Adams.
They both had a monster year in the BC together
a couple seasons ago and all that stuff.
So that's coming on.
Mission Impossible?
Rhymes wasn't in any movies.
He plays in the CFL.
It's his ninth season,
if you include COVID when they didn't play.
Yeah.
Okay.
But are you been in any movies?
Music video.
Yeah, more music video,
okay?
you know, you know, Rhett's music video story, Jack?
I think we talked about this once.
Yeah, I think.
Well, there's more.
What song is that?
It's more than one, but whatever.
It's the music video of the year, 2000.
Did you win a Canadian NBA, CMBA,
a country Canadian music, CCCA?
Peter Handler.
Let me go to the award ceremony.
What?
Training camp was on.
Pete!
Did you get paid?
I do things for others.
Oh, yeah.
Does it help?
Yeah. Just supporting a friend, eh?
May Paul Brown.
Good, Albert, boy.
Paul Brand.
Alberta bound, not like you, Montana bound.
Jack, Jack, Jared.
He and Dickinson, though, that's all right.
Well, both Montana guys, big time Montana guys.
I'm proud of Dave, happy for Dave.
Happy for Dave.
That was a miserable couple of years.
Last year wasn't fun for Dave.
I wasn't very nice to that old quarterback because I just really thought he sucked.
And that dragged the organization down.
Boomer's like, oh, you can't say the mean things about the court.
And I'm like, I'm sure he's a nice guy.
Sucks a quarterback.
They changed the quarterback.
How are they doing?
Pretty good.
and one leading the bloody league.
And kicking the shit out of teams.
Like dominating teams. Like win at home against the bombers.
Win in Saskatchew and then go win in Winnipeg.
Not just win. Statement win.
Yeah.
Corey Mace, head coach of the riders post game.
Corey, like, what do you?
How was it like out there?
How did the stamps have your number?
Belt to ass, end quote.
Belt to ass.
I like that.
He's the best.
I love Mace.
And he was just like, yeah, we just, you know, we got, we got bullets.
And that's a team that's got like almost everybody new on defense.
VA's putting up numbers.
It's not like little five-yard dinky, you know,
checkdown passes and two picks a game.
What a concept.
Happy for the stamps.
Thursday night at home to Montreal,
a chance to go six and one.
They had five wins all last year.
This Thursday?
Yes, two days from now.
Should go.
I might go get me tickets.
No, but I didn't ask for it.
You're fucking ready.
We do have our guest, by the way.
Okay, well, let's get to our guest.
We go to the guest hotline for Crystal Waters.
We told you it was air conditioning season.
We're not lying.
It is going to get hot at some point.
Those are the rules.
The shittier the weather we get right now.
They do plumbing too.
So when he started flooding, they could come out of you.
Yeah, geez.
There's the nice silver lining from Rhett.
Get 10% off a new air conditioner and a year of free,
preventing of maintenance from Crystal Waters.
This guy needs.
We're talking over, oh, he does, we're talking about ACU.
We've got the right guy in the line.
Over 23 years of experienced,
30,000 projects completed.
Crystal Waters, plumbing, and heating is your crystal clear choice for home comfort.
403-21940100 or just go to crystal clear Calgary.com.
The AC King.
We go live to Arizona.
Look at the flow.
Fresh haircut.
Holy moly, calm.
It's hot down here.
What do you?
I should go get a haircut.
This is the wrong time of year for long hair, I think.
I mean, wrong place to be this time of year.
wrong hair for the place you're in.
Straighten it out, man.
Oh.
I know.
I can't get into it in a public setting, but I need to make some adjustments.
Big time adjustments.
I'm working on it.
Okay, okay.
So you're in Scottsdale.
Are we like a billion degrees, two billion?
Actually, last, I mean, it's getting close.
Last couple days have been okay, right around 100.
But then it rained last night.
So right now it's like creeping up to a hunter, but there's a little humidity here, which I don't like that at all.
There's a reason I stay away from the East Coast.
The number one reason is humidity.
Right.
Yeah, it's been hot.
The last couple days, not too bad.
I played golf a little bit last week, which was painful, but not like super, super painful.
Actually, I got smoked by a 13-year-old girl.
Come on!
Her name's Bo Livingston.
She played me and George Brett and I played against three kids.
A 13-year-old girl joined.
Her name's Bo Livingston.
George Brett?
Yeah, George and I are boys.
Yeah, he was in town.
Fucking poop story, George Brett?
Oh, yeah.
That's unreal.
Pine tar and poop.
Unreal.
He's a great dude.
So we go play Camelback, and there's a 13-year-old girl, Bo.
She's very, very nice.
I've heard from the other kids
We're playing with
They're like
And these other kids are good golfers
They're like
This girl's good
I'm like okay
Anyways to shorten a story up
I shot a 70
It was the first time she played for money
It was the first time she played from the tips
The tips here were like
68, 6,900 yards
I shot a 79
And I got beat by 8
Oh shit
I couldn't believe it
There's some Michelle We shit
It was
was unbelievable. I was watching, I'm like, wow, every single shot was the same. There was like a
450 yard par four, you know, she's 13 years old. So if I square one up, I didn't play great,
but I played okay. If I square one up, she had said probably 2.30 off the T. So there was like a,
you know, I remember a few holes, but 450 yard par four, she can't get there in two.
Driver right down the pipe, driver right down the pipe, green side.
up and down four
I kind of yank my drive
I scull my kind of blade my
foreiron up there
bogey lose another hole
that's unreal
so she'd be one of the top players
in her age in the country
are those kids naturally that good
or they've lessened out
and like
I think so her parents were behind
they came and ended up being like a big
kind of there was like 12 or 13 people
at lunch and they all knew
this was all kind of through George.
Like this is my first time meeting some of them.
Parents and everybody seemed great.
From what I gathered,
like she just loves golf.
And yeah, she's taking lessons and stuff like that,
but she loves golf.
She goes to the golf course every day.
Her older sister played with us on the front nine.
We went out in a six ball.
Nobody's playing golf.
Yeah.
And her older sister's a sophomore at TCU.
And she's great, too.
Like, don't get me wrong.
But yeah, it was,
Like I said, I don't think I've ever had that much fun getting my ass kicked on the golf court.
Just watching someone else.
I'm like, I handed her a $20 bill.
She's like, this is the first time I've ever played for money.
I'm like, hey, I'll tell you what, if Whisper Rock ever has like a mixed member guest,
you're going to make some money.
We might have to delete this off the internet.
Yeah, you're killing her amateur status, Mike.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, it was Canadian 20.
That doesn't go.
Yeah, that's not real money.
Speaking of member guest, I don't imagine you got up for,
you're a member at a golf course in Calgary.
I'm sure that those annual dues are fun.
Have you played the course this year?
Were you with the member guest two weeks ago?
You know what?
No, I didn't play the golf course.
I actually hit some balls.
I stayed right across the street from the course, too, but stampede.
I actually saw you, Pender.
What?
In the F-45.
Yeah.
I was going to come in and say hi.
But the last time I went up there and did, I had an eye appointment again.
You were drunk for the eye appointment. That's right.
Last time I did that, I went up there before the eye appointment, ended up having some beers.
Long story short, instead of a yearly checkup, it's now six months because my eye pressures are up.
And they thought I had glaucoma.
You were just drunk.
I just had six, six or seven beers in an hour.
So this time, I'm like, I can't go up there.
And I went to the eye appointment.
Now I'm back.
My eye pressures are fine.
I'm back on your program, but.
Glad to hear it.
Yeah, the annual program.
Yeah, no, but I didn't play it, unfortunately.
I wanted to get out there, but it was just, I brought the dogs up,
and I was staying right across the street from right off 17, too.
It was a perfect setup, but I did have a good trip, though.
So what was the routine for Stampede?
You get to the tents, you see some pals.
Thanks for the invite.
Yeah, yeah, caught up with some buddies.
Yeah, caught up with some buddies.
had like I said had the dogs
girlfriend was there we did
yeah we did a little bit of the tent
stuff we did uh I did the
Cowboys Poker went to the tent
that night uh went to
Wild Horse tent Victor always teased me up there
so went over there yeah Louis Bass hooked
us up we went to the rodeo
nice yeah I went to the rodeo on Sunday
at uh not not
or hand rands but whatever that other one is above it
yeah yeah yeah
Yeah, it was fun.
And then I was about to leave and then figured out,
I went to go just check on my insurance again,
found out for the last month I had no insurance on any of my vehicles.
Good, yeah.
That was real nice and safe driving around the United States.
So got that squared away, thank God.
And that was my trip.
So the end of it sucked when I found out for the insurance,
but everything else was good.
So you have dogs, plural.
I thought you only had one dog.
You guys are growing a family?
this is this spiraling out of control Mike yeah I know
those thoughts across my mind yeah we picked up a couple months ago we picked up Henry's
brother oh we're gonna put them up her friend adopted them that's how we ended up with
henry to begin with okay they just young kids you know I don't you know they
the the husband works from all I think it was just a lot they're gonna give them up
and so I'm like give me that dog for a week I did they sent this dog to
spent like six grand sent it up to Prescott and it was like boarding school.
And so I'm like,
the dog can't be that bad.
So I'm like,
give me that thing for a week.
Let me see how it goes.
Anyways,
Archie's great.
So yeah,
now it's two.
Archie and Hank.
That's a deadly duo.
All I do is,
all I really do now is pick up dog shit.
That's what I do.
Full time gig.
It smells good in that heat,
I bet.
Just picking up dog shit in the heat here.
Did you,
Watch the open. Of course you did. You're a huge golf.
Now, what did you make of Sheffler, the Rory Mania, all that at Royal Port Rush?
Yeah, actually, I'm going to be there in about three weeks.
I've been there before.
Yeah, I watched it. Like, I didn't watch a ton, ton, but I did pay attention.
I think that golf course, for anybody who hasn't been there, if you're ever there,
I haven't been there. I was there like a decade ago.
So they, before they hosted that open in 19, that Lowry won.
They had to change, I think, the 17th and 18.
hole because the 18th hole especially like for an open like the 18th hole was a bad
hole uh so i haven't been since they changed that but the rest of the golf course is the same
it's a great spot uh yeah i mean what that sheffler i think like you know i've talked i went out
with colt and cold nose and stuff and basically if that guy has a decent putting week everybody
else is basically playing for second yeah which is like crazy to say like as great as rory's been
I think I'm going to mess the numbers a little bit up this year.
But like as great as Rory's been this year,
there's been like a small group of guys in the four majors
that have made all four cuts.
I don't know how many guys, but it wouldn't be that many.
Sheffler, his combined score,
so he played all the rounds.
He's at minus 32.
Second place is Rory minus 11.
Jeez.
She's lap in the field.
This is nuts.
That is dominating.
It's funny because he's got,
like tiger levels of dominance and obviously he's going to have to sustain it longer but i mean
his peak right now is as good as anyone's ever looked in golf but he's nothing like tiger like
this guy is no inched in the limelight he he doesn't really all he wants to do is hang out with his kids
like he's he's he's a different cat and it's like fame not interested and that's really weird in
today's society to be the best of your sport and not want the limelight at all yeah it is for sure
and i think like uh you know like i said i listen to pGA tour radio quite a bit so i hear this
and I watch, I pay attention.
But, you know, I think, like, that Jordan Speeth kind of, they asked him about it.
And he kind of touched on it.
It's like, he's not interested.
He wants to play golf.
And, like, I guess, you know, he comes across.
I guess he's a good.
I never met the guy, but I guess he's a good dude.
But, like, when it's time to golf, he's playing golf and he's going to try and kick
your ass.
Yeah.
But when it's not time to golf, like, he's going home and he's hanging out with his buddies and
hanging out with his family and he's doing that.
And I think Speeth was, you know,
kind of quoted saying like he's not interested in, I think for a little bit he was doing like that
corp, you know, kind of the stuff that those guys have to do or, you know, some of them have to do if you're a big name.
And I think he basically just said, I'm not doing this stuff.
I don't want to do it.
And I don't care if I make a little bit less money.
I don't care if I lose sponsorships.
I don't care about followers on Instagram.
None of that matters to me.
And yeah, I mean, he is straight up dominating.
obviously.
Yeah, and honestly, like,
you have to say no to your agent a lot,
and you have to, like, probably make a lot of people
with a lot of money mad, telling them you don't want their money.
And Sid's almost a little similar in the sense that I think it is,
like Tim Hortons and maybe, like, one other thing.
He turns down millions every offseason.
I don't want to waste the day of training to go film a commercial.
Like, I just don't care.
It's like you and me call me.
Yeah, you guys.
We're dialed in on our train.
Yeah, we got to get to the gym rat.
You know what I mean?
I don't have time to,
make any more money.
That is a pretty good comparison with Crosby, though,
because yeah, you really don't see, you know,
I mean, I've met him a couple times or whatever.
And, you know, I'm, I bet he does pretty much,
he's been making the same salary every year for 20 years.
And I think his program from what I doubt it's changed.
It's like he goes to Pittsburgh, obviously play the season.
When that's done, I've heard he goes and has like a couple weeks of fun in L.A.
Because in L.A. he can walk around and nobody has any idea who he is.
Right.
And then it's back home and he's training.
And that's it.
And like you said, you don't, you know, you should, you would think you'd see him
especially in Canada.
And he does Tim Horton's, but it's not like it's.
No, and he's getting older now.
Even in his heyday, it wasn't.
You see McDavid commercials every commercial break here.
Like it's everything.
And I get it.
Like that's absolutely how most stars make a lot.
of money off the field in every single
sport. So when you have a guy like said, it's like,
whoa, whoa, he didn't want to take one day to make an
extra couple million. That's crazy. Do you want
him to, that stuff,
it's been who he is, but I'm curious,
what are your thoughts? Should he want to leave
to try and win another cup or
do you have an opinion on that?
You know, I listen to NHL
radio too and a couple of the guys
go off a little bit and they do say
selfish fans, he should get out of Pittsburgh.
Ah, God.
I do think, I mean, obviously I was never even close to this position.
They couldn't wait to trade me.
I couldn't stay anywhere longer in about 25 games.
So I do see, I see the attraction if I was a player of that level to be like, hey, yeah,
I played for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Yeah.
And that's, look, he's won three cups.
Like, it's not like there's a whole lot that he hasn't accomplished.
But I also do see the side of it where, like, if I'm,
sitting there and I'm him, it's like, hey, like, you know, things aren't looking great here for a
while. I've only got so many years left. Like, trying something new, I think, would be fun, too.
Like, you know, I, I know this Pittsburgh thing, like, this is great. It's awesome. You know,
maybe I should, I get why, I don't know, I guess if I had an opinion, I guess I'll just go from
the selfish fan. I guess it would be kind of fun to see him try it somewhere else. You know, the Colorado
comes up a little bit.
McKinnon.
But I also totally understand if you're him,
it's like, man, I've done it all.
I want to be a one team guy.
There's not very many guys that can say
they did that.
So I get both sides of it.
I know that was a shitty answer, but I really don't know.
No, that's fine.
We're all on the same page.
As fans, you're selfish, and you're like,
I don't want to see the end of Sid's career
on a shitty team. And you know he's
tight with Nate and he's exactly what the
avalanche need, like a two center behind
McKinn. Are you kidding me?
I'm curious.
My curiosity now is I don't think he wants to leave and that's fine.
It's totally up to him.
I'm curious,
the level he's playing at,
which is very high is pit.
If Sid and Malkin and whoever else stay there and they're still producing,
can they turn it around quickly if they get a couple superstars early in it?
You know what I mean?
They need to finish last this year and get McKin.
Exactly.
Like if they do that,
is that out?
my God, you go from
right back into the mix.
Jack talked about it.
they finished,
well,
I guess it was the lockout year or whatever.
They get Sidna,
a goddamn lotter.
21 years before that,
they got Mario Lemieux first overall.
They won the right one.
And so every 21 years,
they pick first,
our producer Jack,
big, big penguins guy,
he's like,
oh, it's already happening.
Like, the fix is in.
It's going to be McKendida to the Penguins.
And then they would be good again pretty quick.
But that's just it.
Like,
that stuff does seem like it's
rig. There's no question about that.
And it ain't just hockey. Basketball
basketball is the worst. Yeah.
Yeah. So, yeah, you can talk.
I am definitely all ears when it comes
to the rig thing.
To a point.
Yeah, that's a good, I mean, I'm not going to sit here
and say it's not going to happen.
I think, I think Crosby
is a little different from
Malkin. Like, I can kind of see that
I mean, I just
yeah, but I get what you're saying.
I think they could turn it around. Yeah. And I
wonder if Malkin ups his game if he realizes we're back at a competitive mode, right?
Like you're going into December and you're like, holy shit, how are we staying in?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Maybe he still could ramp it up.
And hey, we're, we're in this a little bit.
I mean, it's an excellent player.
That's a good point.
Yeah, if they could, yeah, you're right, tank this year, get that McKenna apparently.
Is there anybody else in Jackson?
Or is that pretty much McKenna?
Isn't that Fort Sass kid supposed to be pretty?
but he's probably not going to change things immediately.
There's a defenseman Verhoff.
There's Victoria. He's going to North Dakota.
He'll be the first D man off the board.
It sounds like picks one and two are both leaving the Western League to the NCAA.
That's got a sting at the league office here in Calgary.
Two guys, one and two, it's a lot of money you're missing,
and major star power leaving the league in the draft year.
You went to college.
I think it's great for the kids and the opportunity,
but I keep going back to Major Junior in Canada has to,
do something to, and I don't know
what it is they can do.
I mean, yeah, I don't know what
it is you do too. I know that's tough for the
dot, well, for Major Junior, you're
seeing these guys leave and they're getting paid.
Yeah, like that
DuPont's kid. I'm sitting
in Medicine Hat and the mechanic
kid's gone. It's like, man, like
well, they had to move them so the Warner
they had to move them so the Warner kid
could, they had to clear space.
Yeah, yeah, that's right. Warner kid
needs.
some ice time. You always move out that left winger for that stay at home D. That's what I'm
told. That's right. That's right. Yeah, I don't know. That is a tough. I mean,
if I get why other than the fact of the money, obviously if you're sitting there and you're
getting paid, like I get that for sure. And I also get the fact that, you know, like,
if you dominate major juniors at like, you know, let's say 16, 17, 18 or 17 and 18,
like it is a little bit of a step up going to college.
Like, and it should be because older guys.
Older guys.
Like, it's going to, it better be harder to play in college than it is in junior.
So I get like that challenges them a little bit more.
It's a little bit different of a game.
But yeah, for the dub, that does suck.
I'm going to pump my tires a little bit with that Keaton Verhof there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I saw him play.
So I've been back to Fort Saskatchewan like once in the last 20.
years. I went and dropped the puck at the Phantom AAA like four years ago.
That's one visit. One visit. And I'm watching the Fort Sask Rangers play. I just sit down
first five minutes of the game. I'm just kind of watching bullshit with some high school buddies.
And I'm like watching. I see this big kid on defense kind of flying around a little bit.
I'm like, who's that? They're like, well, his name's Keith. I'm like, are his parents here?
They're like, yeah, yeah, over there. So they're the, you know, we're related. We got
mutual friends and stuff like that.
I go, hey, what's going on with your kid?
They're like, oh, well, he just stopped playing goaltender.
I'm like, what?
He's like, well, no, he was a goaltender last year.
I'm like, oh, I watched for a little bit more.
Yeah.
So this was his first year playing out.
And so I watched for another five minutes and I go, look, I go, lots can happen in life.
There's no question about it.
But I'm like, this is just my opinion.
I think your kid is a player.
He could be.
Like, he is dog.
To me, he looks like he's about to dominate,
especially if he just kind of got out.
So I'm like, take that goalie gear and throw out in the garbage.
Never go back there.
And so anyways, it's been kind of fun to watch him.
Well, I haven't watched him, but just kind of pay attention to,
I mean, because he's kind of exploded the last couple years.
He's going to Nodak next year with the Flames first rounder, Cole Rush.
They both played at Uvick together, or certainly at Uvick, Victoria Royals together.
You're a Nodak guy.
He spent three seasons there.
What is life like on campus for hockey?
Because there isn't a major football program of correct?
Like you guys are kings of the hill.
Spoil, frick and rotten.
That's what these college kids are.
Spoil, Bratsy, says.
They are pretty spoiled now.
Not back in my day, but that new rank, I mean, it's, I think I had a hell of a time at
the, at the University of North Dakota.
I think the program, well, the program's gone through a little, they did, they made a
coaching change and there's been a little, you know, I'm on the outside looking.
man, I'm not involved in any of it, but it's been a little tumultuous the last like six months with some moves happening.
I do know the fact that they, what's the flames?
It's coal, right?
Yeah, Reschney.
Yeah, so the fact that those two kids are coming in has really quieted things down.
People are very, very excited.
So, yeah, I think they're going to have a hell of a time.
You know, the school at North Dakota, it's not Harvard or Yale.
Like school at North Dakota is, it's as hard.
as you want to make it.
If you want to take tough classes, then take tough classes.
But you can also get through just fine.
I think a lot of it's online classes, Mike.
Yeah, my two out of home.
That's a world.
I don't know anything about a good point.
Yeah, it's all online.
They won't set foot in classroom.
Crazy.
So just keep them out of the pub enough to get better at hockey.
Oh, go to the pub.
You got a team bond.
That's where your team bond.
Drinking age is 21.
You can't get into the bar.
Oh, yeah.
Maybe I'm changing my team on the same.
They'll have a good time.
You know what?
They'll have a time.
I mean, they should improve.
They're playing against older kids.
Like I said, I mean, you can go to the rink there at North Dakota.
That ice is available for you whenever you want.
So there's no shortage of, there's no shortage of opportunity in North Dakota.
I will say that.
How many years did you get in the new rig?
Any or none or one?
Zero.
I've only been there as a fan.
Apparently, it's just like lined in marble.
Like, it's the nicest arena in, you know, for, if you're,
you could fly for two hours and not find a nicer rink.
NHL rings look up to this one.
Yeah, as far as like, yes.
Yeah, it's 13, 14,000 seats, all marble, all Italian stuff like that.
Like if you, Grand Forks, North Dakota, there's not a whole lot of, you know,
but if anybody that's listening ever goes through there, it's worth stopping in just to take a look.
If you walked into the rink, if you just were like teleport to the middle of the rink,
you'd be like, wow, you know, I think this rink is probably in Vegas.
and you like you're in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
It is amazing.
Crazy.
What's the rest of the summer look like for you?
Air conditioning, dog shit, what else?
Yeah, air conditioning, dog shit.
September, got the old Flames alumni.
I think we're doing a little old four thing, Red.
Yeah, a little luncheon.
There's issues there with the date because there's a 20-year anniversary that I have to attend or lose half.
Oh.
So I'm trying to figure this out.
Okay, okay.
Well, don't lose half, Red.
I can cover for you as best I can.
Totally lose half.
See, half of not much.
No, no, where are you?
You're going over to Europe to golf?
I'm back on Ken Holland's golf trip.
Oh, baby.
Yeah, so I leave,
I land in Glasgow, August 6th, and then it's on.
I don't have it in front of me,
but we start in Scotland.
and we're playing like a couple rounds at a place called Western Gales.
We're playing three rounds at Turnberry.
We're playing two or three rounds at Trune.
Then we're jumping on the ferry going across to Northern Ireland.
We're playing, I think, like four rounds at a place called Bally Lippen.
I've never been there.
We're playing three rounds at Royal Port Rush, where they just had the open.
and then I think we've got one or two rounds at Port Stewart,
which is right there too.
So it's on.
Tensomaniac.
Just dipping your toes in.
No gimmies.
Play the tips.
And like what,
no carts?
Oh,
there's no carts over there anyway.
No cards at any.
Yeah,
no,
it'll be eight men.
It won't be,
it'll be,
well,
be a little easier with eight guys instead of 24.
But,
uh,
yeah,
it'll be two men,
best ball.
He'll have the games all set up.
Probably put up,
I don't know,
for that amount of goals.
probably $2,500 in the pot,
and there'll be games like all kinds of different games,
different partners every round or for, you know,
groups of rounds,
two-man best ball,
full handicap,
one ball has to go in the hole,
maximum score on a hole is net quad again.
It's tough on a part three.
They hate us over there.
They hate us over there.
When it's like 24 guys,
because there's money involved,
And these caddies are like, you guys aren't good enough to be net quad.
I'm like, I couldn't agree more.
Tell that guy.
Tell that guy.
I tell him every trip and he never listened.
But it'll be a good time.
Enjoy that.
I hope the dogs are well, Archie and Hank are taken care of when you're gone.
Appreciate the check-in.
Be sure to come back to Calgary, but do let us know next time.
And you don't have to get hammered in the studio.
There's other things you can do.
Okay.
All right.
Next time I promise I'll come up.
I don't have any appointments next time.
time so i'll see you guys next time i'm in town great chatting thanks buddy all right boys great to see
you thanks for having me i'll see you later there is the great mike commodore uh hundred with humidity

just to sweat through his shirt remember what that feels like oh yeah it's a heat heat heat
about it. Is he got things squared away
nicely, Jack, or is he missing the boat here?
I feel like you'd normally say come to Calgary
in the summers, but this summer it seems like a shrewd move
to not be in Calgary. Yeah, I think
he's got to figure it out.
Got to figure it out?
No, he doesn't have that.
I can't tell you so.
Life decisions.
Hey, a lot of golf. You like golf. He's
living the dream. That was one hell of
if he's right on the amount of rounds,
I was like, oh, boy, that's like, that's like
18 rounds of golf.
Like,
like it was like three and four
and seven.
There's a lot of days
where they play 36 and a bunch.
Like,
because I know some people that are tied into the family and
Kenny is not about golf.
So we'll always joke.
He's trying to get work off his desk in the summer
so he can go to his golf turns,
but it's actually kind of true.
And he just finished one in,
at Predator Ridge and Vernon,
another big event.
Last weekend,
I had a buddy that I chatted with yesterday.
He was out at that.
And he was like,
huge amounts of money's on the line.
No gimmies.
You got knee knocker,
foot and a half putts.

I like the idea of a dog and no kids.
I love the idea of a dog,
except I had a dog and then I didn't like the idea of a dog.
Good idea.
It's a grass is greener thing you got going on, I think.
When you didn't have a dog, you wanted the dog, then you had a dog.
I don't really want this dog.
This dog is for real pain in my ass.
Someone take this dog?
Can I travel with this dog?
Dog's great.
It'd be nice to have a dog.
Go for a walk.
Poor kids.
Just getting screwed around by their old man.
Yeah.
Oh, for sure.
With mental health issues, they're going to have a staggering.
Lots of help out there nowadays.
Ups and downs.
And were you saying the other day you can get too much psychology, too much, too
much.
Yeah, you got to be careful.
Be careful.
Don't do that.
All right, Jack.
What else do we got to hit today?
We got Dominic Grimes coming up with the program later.
We got bets.
We got a Pinder report.
Why don't we do Pender Report?
Yeah.
We're going to pretend things are happening in the sports.
Yeah.
Oh, there's Commodore just said.
Back at the old shop.
Yeah.
So much happening.
Yeah.
It's the week of Major League All-Star break.
Yeah.
Chop it up.
Here's four hours with no commercials.
Yeah, the spot sets are light in the summer.
Yeah, go get them.
Snapping towels.
God, that was a slug.
What did you guys talk about?
I took the summers off, John.
Yeah, you weren't.
Yeah, Red had that program figured out.
We didn't have that option.
We could quit or we would work summers.
So what did you talk about?
Nothing.
Well, on a day like today, you'd probably fabricate some nonsense about the flight.
People are doing it.
They're still doing those things.
It's like, oh, who's going to be on the second pair for the Wranglers?
and just kill me.
You've tried to find guests, I'm sure.
Lots of guests, and you can really lean into the Blue Jays and stamp eaters if they're good,
which this year would be helpful.
The last few summers that'd be.
Dave Dickinson used to be on.
Dave was great.
Love Dave.
Still worried about that burger thing.
It is weird.
Everything else about him.
What about turkey burgers?
Did we ever ask him about that?
Yeah, he likes chicken sandwiches, he said.
He likes a chicken burger.
Just not much of a burger guy.
I'm star.
Are you a turkey burger guy?
I've very much turkey burger.
I make them.
I would say they're more popular than my regular burger.
Really?
Because turkey gets a little bit of shade as a meat.
I don't know what it is, but they make a good turkey burger.
I do believe you.
Your culinary skills will not be doubted in this forum at all.
Villichana presents a Pinda report.
They want your pre-owned vehicle.
Maybe you got to bring back release.
Got an email from Villageana.
Yes.
Maybe rats buying this.
get a new passport and you got another car hanging around and you got rid of whatever it is.
Don't sell your vehicle without stopping by for a complimentary appraisal at Village Honda.
And yeah, looking to add to their stock of pre-owned vehicles.
They'll pay within 24 hours.
That's good.
No obligation.
More details, VillageHonda.com.
They're in the Northwest Auto Mall and online at VillageHonda.com.
It is your dealership for life presenting the Pinder Report.
Now, the writers are always writing.
Oh, well.
And, you know, I don't want to be.
So busy. Everything's happening. Let's go to the website and see how much of this is a fluff filling space versus actual things that matter. To Flames Nation, we go.
You gas that out of the Pinder report. So it's fluff filling space. Writers are writing. For some reason, you must have deleted the wrong thing because that was one thing I wanted to delete. Was it the, I'm starting at 20 now.
Yeah, okay. By the way, there's some stuff at Flames Nation.com. It's legit. Lots going on. Like,
how long do the flames have to sign their prospects?
And hey, what about that seventh rounder last month?
Huh?
Eh?
Eh?
Next.
Blue Jays are hot, though.
Are they ever?
A team record 11 consecutive home wins.
Ever since Dean came in here and said,
go Yankees.
The Jays have been on one of the greatest heaters in franchise history.
They won 10 in a row overall,
But that obviously got snapped before the All-Star break.
They swept the Giants coming out,
All-Star break, beat the Yankees last night.
A couple doubles off the wall for Lerlo.
Alejandro.
And yeah, 11 straight at home.
They're still a wagon at home.
Sold out 41,000-plus roof open last night.
Man, if you want to go on a, when there's 20,000 people there,
it is not the place to be.
When you go and there's over 30, 35, 40, it is the place to be.
were you there for the playoffs with don't know the playoffs
how nuts is it it was unbelievable and why is it busy
impact things are being it which game was up by the way do you remember
I went to the the overtime or the extra earnings against Baltimore no it was against
Texas oh no way Batista home run yes game five that seventh inning took like an hour
it was wild oh jealous four games up on the Yankees and uh
Hey, 18 games over 500 sounds good because it is good.
They have the third best record in baseball.
That's really good.
They got two more with the Yankees than a set with the Tigers coming up.
They're the best team in the AL.
The Milwaukee Brewers, the brew crew of the best record in all of baseball.
It'll be Max Scherzer tonight against 75 million this year, Max.
70 million, yeah, 15 from the Jays.
Way to go, Max.
15 from the Nats and some from the Astro.
He's getting paid from.
everyone. Some of the paid leave. Love that stuff. Shurzer had, I think,
8Ks is last time out. He's been tied. He'll revisit that in our bets for
Bet, three, six, five. I don't know if I threw the odds up for this game or not,
but Chase, heavy favorites and they're minus 220 today. That was the stamps. We got the
stamps game. Never mind. Hooper, dime, uh, basketballer. That's you. The Hardwoods.
Triple double. And one. The Raptors traveling to Calgary this fall.
the Raptors, Jack,
will be doing training camp at the U of C.
Open practice on the third.
That'll be a hit in Calgary.
It will not play an exhibition game here.
They'll do that in Vancouver.
That's on October 6th.
So Raptors fans, we the North?
Are you part of the North still?
Well, they've got to get out here and start promoting.
Yeah, they're out in the north here.
Tickets will go on sale late August.
That for the Vancouver game, I believe.
like that's good news for Calgary that just dropped this morning.
Love to see that.
I bet you when that new ring comes,
they'll just play the exhibition game here.
Oh, they might just.
It's just a really good idea because they can make more money.
Everyone likes money if you're the professional sports team.
Yeah, good love.
Speaking of good, Stan Peters.
Who!
Wagon!
Hey, CFL.
Hey, riders, smack down.
Take that, Ders.
Hey, bombers, twice. Bang.
Belt to ass.
Belt to ass, per Corey Mace.
Five and one's good.
They're only.
loss the torrential rain of like a month ago.
Like the torrential five degrees sideways rain.
Nasty.
That was their only loss.
So in non-monsoon conditions,
undefeated, you could have.
Impressive stuff. Big road winds.
Soft. They must be soft. They can't play in the monsoon.
They did not look soft against the durs nor the bombers.
Belt to ass. They look great. They've got Montreal Thursday night.
And they got some throwback pricing.
Oh, okay. They get some deals going.
There's René.
Look at young René.
He is a throwback.
He is a throwback.
I think he's 40.
Dude, still kicking that ass out of the ball.
Fifteen bucks.
There's your throwback pricing.
Get down to Mac Mahone and shake Red's hand.
He loves hugs and pitchers.
That's almost such a good deal that I could just buy my own.
You probably could afford $15 tickets, even if you took your whole family.
Yes.
Also, you could submit your favorite song that you heard Jack playing today.
What's the name of that song?
I got a car.
I got a car.
Buy.
Georgie.
George Strait.
That's your hat, by the way.
all tying in together
and Jack's shirt
Jack are you going to request a song
you're going to send in your picks
Morgan Wallin
where are you going here
I got a thing about it
okay
I'm going to ask for some ACDC
I also want to go to a Metallica concert
I heard someone talk about Metallica
the other day I'm like to go here
Are you into the Oasis revival
that's apparently all right I've saw Oasis in a small
venue in West Palm Beach
I was no I think it's where the
there was an East Coast team playing, I think, out of there or something.
It was a hockey rink.
The ice was out.
Me, Chris Wells.
Come on.
Eddie was there.
That would do one of the best shows you've been to.
Yes.
Well, I hardly would have.
I think to Nolan, I'd say the brother, Liam, they probably hardly remember either.
But, hey, it happens.
Billion dollars on the table.
I guess they can pretend to be friends.
Get a tour going.
That's it for stamp stuff, I believe.
Thursday, McMahon, Calorie FC.
How's this for a finish?
They're one-one.
late last week in Winnipeg.
We're talking like stoppage time here.
Four extra minutes.
It's the 93rd minute here.
Caves in the green.
Turn over.
We're going to take that away.
Sergio Camargo.
God bless you.
Lovely finish.
By the way,
so I'm in the grocery store like two days before.
He and his significant other expecting their first child.
Congrats on that big goal.
Amazing stuff.
Congrats on the big goal or the...
Both.
Both things.
Yeah.
You just, you know.
that's a big first baby everyone's oh my gosh that's crazy exciting times big goal out of

still some runway left and uh what else we got forgot us we got a big uh yeah there it is
Saturday at home.
It's their zoo game.
I don't have to bring in animals or what, but the zoo is involved.
Breaking the lions down?
You got polar bears.
Got the seals balancing soccer balls.
The hippos.
Yeah, the hippos.
Big hippo. Getting in on this for sure.
Jack, that's your next action.
Saturday at three at Akko Field.
Got to love that.
Yeah.
All of a sudden, you take us to everything.
Serge?
They in action.
Oh, well, we'll talk about this later.
Just standby.
I don't need to see that yet.
Surge busy weekend, Friday, Sunday.
They are sitting second in the West in the C-E-B-L.
Speaking of basketball.
Winnipeg is going to host the championship weekend.
Top two teams in the West are good out there.
And those are the top two teams in the West playing this Friday at WinSport,
the bandits and the surge.
you don't like those bandits
I don't like Vancouver
everything about it
a lot of yeah not everything
a lot of a lot of things
do you like rain
nope do you like douchebags
no do you like hipsters or hippies
depends on the mood I mean
yeah fair enough
left hand of cigarettes
no comment
keep moving
Jack who's the guy that plays on Vancouver
but doesn't really play on Vancouver
he's like some influencer
Tristan Jazz yeah I have no idea
I don't even know if he's on with the team
so there's this guy
He's got like 2 million followers on Instagram.
We asked the commissioner, Mike Moriali about it,
last couple, during Stampede.
And he literally went and tried out and made the team.
I don't know if he's playing much,
but he's like this guy that just does crazy dunks and stuff on the internet
and got famous from that.
And now he's hanging around the bandits.
Not sure if he's going to play.
Go to Win Sport Friday to find out.
Also on Sunday, they're in action as well.
Nice little double up.
It gets rowdy in there.
You've been there game in?
Not yet.
Oh, buddy, come on.
I don't like Vancouver.
So we've got to catch them.
and I don't want Edmonton
having a chance to catch us.
Right.
Let's do some winning.
Okay.
Time to win.
Time to win.
Jack, walk us through the latest in Steelersland,
because this looks atrocious.
Got some New Jersey's boys.
I do like the tweet.
The Steelers might finish 9 and 9 after catching a loss
from these alternate jerseys.
There are 17 games now.
10 and 9.
9, 18 games.
Yeah, their math's off a little.
Those are terrible.
I didn't like him at first,
but they're growing on me now.
Why are they totally buying?
Why?
Because they put a couple black stripes.
Because it looks like they poo stained their pants and had to wash them eight times.
What do you like about these atrocities?
They're just different.
I don't know.
They are different.
And isn't it odd that Jack would go from hot to colds?
Yeah, I didn't like him on a Steelers thing.
Kind of like Aaron Rogers.
Don't like him.
Love him.
Love him.
Hate him.
I don't want to.
I can't wait.
I can't wait to fire up the jackometer.
Yes,
it's going to be good.
Because I think we need to start it a little earlier this year.
Like maybe now.
Like right now.
Well, you already had some peaks valleys.
Pull back the curtain.
We're going to screw off for a few weeks here.
But when we get back for live shows, once we get into camp and I start.
We'll be like deep into camp.
I'll be like the Hall of Fame game in Canton kicks things off.
I think the Chargers are playing that in this year.
But like once we get into the preseason, we need that role.
I need preseason jack on it.
Can we also get a jack cam for the NFL season, please?
Yeah, we'll figure that out.
Please.
Who should I get?
What jersey should I get?
Well, they just signed T.J. Watt, so he's around for a bit.
Yeah.
And he's the best guy on the team.
I kind of want to Rogers.
Oh, you're such a loser.
Last year this time, you would have said, I think I want a Russell Wilson.
How would that have aged?
How would you feel with a Russell Wilson?
He was cooking with Russ right now.
What would, like?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Let's ride.
Yeah, that would be long ago.
So don't do that, right?
DJ Watts, probably a safe bet.
That's the stud.
Who else you're going to go with?
He's all famer.
D.K. Mackack.
How much is left on his deal?
He'll piss everybody off and want out and gone in a year, too.
How about that George Pick?
What about him?
He gone.
What about that Kenny Pickett?
He gone.
Okay.
Oh, they were so good that one preseason.
They did have a great preseason.
Yeah, Kenny Pickett was on pace to be the best quarterback since Dan Marino that hadn't won a Super Bowl yet.
And then it turned out it was just preseason, which means.
Oh.
The other starters on the other team aren't playing.
Oh.
Hey, that guy's a Super Bowl champion.
He did back up the Eagles last year.
He played in the playoffs.
You always have the last laugh.
There's no retort to that.
Can he pick?
Winners are winners, Jack.
Probably knelt a couple snaps in victory formation and is a Super Bowl champion.
Now he might start on the Browns.
Gross.
Terrible.
It's got to be flacko, right?
I don't know.
I want shit or so bad.
Well, I'd like to see it, but it might look like a car wreck.
It's the whole like rubbernecking thing, right?
It's the Browns, please.
Peak content.
Please.
Yeah, Team Chaos.
That's what we're on, right?
Your bills are going to be good this year.
Of course, sir.
I think my charges are going to be good, but I'm a little.
Holy poor.
Are we going to Pittsburgh, Jack?
Yeah, the Steelers bills.
What week is that?
November or the latter half of the season, I think.
Probably November.
I think it's November.
We should do that.
Why wouldn't we?
Well, and Steelers,
Chargers play in L.A. in November.
Yeah, you're already going to that.
It's like Kid Reading Week for school here for the...
What's that?
Steelers Chargers?
In L.A.
I hate that.
Yeah, I don't really.
It's fine.
It sucks.
Pick your favorite beach community.
You don't go to the other places.
It's a good point.
It's not really one big city.
It's like 10 beach communities.
And then it craze you downtown.
Can I get one of those tents that everybody stays in?
You don't want the tent.
They want to go to the other parts.
You can just pee wherever you want that one.
No.
No.
Vancouver has that too, by the way.
I know you're big Vancouver.
I saw them on the Nimo.
That might be coming to this.
Nantown.
Okay.
This is kind of cool in Britain.
They're running this interesting promotion at a pub.
Let's check it out.
Actually, we're having that special today.
If you can have got to flip this bottle and land it, you can have it for free.
Free time for free.
3 town 40
it is pretty good
I've seen this catching steam
other places are like oh and by the way
if you can shoot this hoop
bang it's 250
I have not
gotten hammered in a proper English pub
that's something I need to do
I've never been there
you never been in England come on
never been to London
flowed through London
yeah I've been to three airports in London
never been to the city
he throw
Stansted Gatwick
airports
great airports
Actually, it sucked. I hated it.
A lot of cheap flights in and out of there.
A lot of drunken...
That's chartering over there.
That's an expensive charger.
That's only money.
It's only money.
Well, as long as it's yours, I'm in.
And finally, we've been showing you the parkour all year
because you love parkour.
But we only show you the good ones.
I thought we'd even out the ledger a little bit.
This looks like a kid's playground on a beach somewhere.
Hardcore parkour.
Don't from that pole onto a...
That rock wall.
Yep, that's,
he's not good at it.
Ooh.
Yeah, he's not doing all right.
What did he think was,
like,
was he trying to land on it with two feet?
It appears that way, Jack.
He did seem to be surprised
that he absolutely nutted himself
and probably couldn't move for 20 minutes.
But he's two feet aren't even together.
I think he plans.
He slips or he's just,
this is hardcore.
Sacrificing.
Maybe this is the shinnie guy.
You know,
the guy that takes the shinnies.
He's like taking.
Yeah.
The scooters to the shins and things.
Maybe that's what this guy's up.
Yeah, that's almost impossible.
Oh.
Geez.
A lot of cameramen, too.
Yeah, maybe he was planning it, right?
The more I think about it.
Not AI.
That was real.
Really planned, apparently.
That's your pinned report on this Tuesday, July 27th.
I can't determine if AI has infiltrated my YouTube shorts feed.
It's infiltrated jacks.
When I'm watching ping pong.
Ping pong.
Because some of these ping pong players are quite good.
And the rallies are unbelievable.
I'm like,
this can't be real.
And I'm like,
we're in the post fact era.
We're done for it.
Nobody knows what's real and what's not.
Good luck, everyone.
Cloud seeding and all kinds of things going on.
It's,
that's your pit report for Village Honda.
Lots of new in stock inventory,
your dealership for life.
go up say hi to Anthony
check out the crew
say it like that
and get that passport before Rhett
finally gets off his wallet
and buys his kid a car
that deals right here shouldn't buy them because
don't buy your kid's new cars
it's only money I got to do it before the tariffs
kick you that's sure whatever you say
again someone's have to explain out of these

even if they explain to do that
wait a silly
why are we doing
we're doing uh we got a cool thing
coming up, September 20th.
Holy, that's long ways out.
Want to give it some runway, and we are going to have
more details throughout the summer,
but Cavalry
FC are playing on the 20th against
Valor, the team they just stunned in
stoppage time on the weekend.
We are running a fan bus
with friends at the elephant
and castle, formerly the Rosencrow
on 4th Street, just off the
17th Avenue. Big
footy bar. So here's the deal.
45 bucks ticket,
Bus both ways, share plate, pint to Carlsberg,
and they're doing Calvary gear giveaways.
Oh, please.
Show up before the game, get to sea level, get on the bus,
cheer on the calves to a big win at Akko Field,
and then come back and get treated to a share plate.
All your ass back home.
Perfect.
Take driving out of the equation.
That could really open up some opportunities.
Very nice.
Forty-five bucks.
More details to come.
Tickets are on Eventbrite,
and you can find the page for elephant and castle there.
We will have more details to follow.
But you can be doing this with me in the stands at Akko Field.
I went with the crazies during Stampede on Tuesday.
The crazies are crazy here.
This is like when the game hasn't even started yet,
and they're doing the smoke grenades.
Some smoke bombs.
That's Das Bomber, Smoke Man.
It's got the gloves on.
We got the turrets.
drums you had to get out of there pretty quick where do you buy those smoke bomb anywhere

see i'm losing my mind back there see look at hey hey right in there with the lugans i'm like
am i allowed to they're like just stand anywhere and grab a
flag and start banging it. There's like flags.
Everyone, everyone. Boom, boom, boom.
Singing and chant and clapping the whole time.
We're not necessarily going to go sit with those
lunatics the whole game, but we might pop by.
We got a bus to fill
for the cabs, September 20th, more details
to follow and shout out the elephant and castle.
We've done some nice renovations there.
Very, very nice.
Yeah, you would stop by.
I used to love the nachos.
Live music.
They got the footie on. If you like footy on the TV.
All the sports. It's great.
I would advise against the date part,
but I would advise going to
Save the date.
Save the date.
September 20.
Love it.
Good stuff.
Are you down and out on the weather?
Can you still barbecue?
Are you going to do like a pan frying?
Like if you've got your bontan meat order,
what are you braving the barbecue or is it just like griddle time?
What are we doing?
I got the egg under my deck.
So I could do it on the.
Oh, the smoker.
Now, you're hot and cold on smokers.
Where are we at today?
I don't like heavy smoke flavored.
So lightly smoked is more of your vibe.
It does feel like it's more of a fine art than your leg to believe.
My buddy did three chickens the other day.
Real good.
Yeah.
Real, real, real good.
Jack Smoker, you and the boys been mess around.
I love the smoker.
Yeah.
And that keeps me out of the weather.
I was chatting.
What a hell else am I going to do today?
I was chatting with your meat dealer at the stamps.
game, Jack was there. It was the
Stampede Bowl. And he said, yeah,
Rhett texted me. He said, he needed to order some food. And I said,
what? And then he ghosted me. I said, don't take that personally, Greg.
He doesn't text anyone back. He said, no, no, I've got a workaround. I just
text his wife. And then I get the order. And then Rhett comes and picks
it up. It's great. It's a great worker.
It's a great worker.
Easy.
Where, how are the supplies? And what
are we looking at left to go?
I'm running low, but I have some wonderful things that would be
perfect.
beef short ribs.
I got a prime rib.
I got to get through.
And I saw a chicken in there.
So I've got options.
We had ribs on the weekend.
Oh.
The ribs are a killer for me because I just crush them.
If they're done right, just absolutely abused them.
It's not fair how good there.
You can't stop.
It's not.
Cannot.
Are you doing a dry rub or the sauce or both or all the above?
I know you.
Of the above.
You and Dean are big supporters of
the beef short rib rather than the back ribs.
Although back ribs are wonderful.
I am not going to slight a back rib at all.
It's more just a sneaky move than down the main street move.
Either way, whatever your barbecuing needs are this summer,
don't be shy.
Swing by Bontan.
Say how to our good pal, Greg.
We're talking about over 100 years for Bontan meat market.
That's crazy.
We're talking the finest premium AAA Alberta beef,
raised fresh pork, locally raised,
fresh free range chicken, turkey, fresh Alberta lamb, milk-fed veal.
Over 20 varieties of in-store made salads.
Potato salad, potato salad, potatoes, salad.
desserts, in-store meat pies.
28 crowfoot circle Northwest.
We're talking a 24 consecutive year run of Alberta, Southern Alberta's Consumer Choice Award winners.
Greg, we salute you.
Love you, Greg.
God bless.
Let's get some bets. Blue Jays have been sensational.
We do have the stamps in action on Thursday, waiting for some more fields to open up there.
I want to hit that Diedrich Mills first touchdown of the game.
Right now we've just got the basic lines out for that game.
You'll probably see more tomorrow.
Stamps minus 245, heavy favorites against the Alweta, Jeanette Alouette.
And why not at 5 and 1?
Best team in the CFL right now.
Baseball tonight.
We're going to ride Allie Alejandro.
He had two.
He's crazy.
He's kooky.
He's off the wall.
Two off the wall doubles last night.
He was like six feet from two home runs.
Alejandro, a little more protein in the diet, buddy.
Almost had him over the wall.
So two total bases is plus 140.
We like that.
See in the ball.
Well.
And Max Scherzer,
8K's his last outing.
He's looking better and better.
Seven plus.
It's a lot,
but it's plus 145.
as well.
Gosman looked excellent yesterday.
I'm not what you're watching.
I'm in.
One kid is dialed.
Love stats, loves baseball,
cannot get enough.
Dad, who's starting pitcher?
You get him the pages?
What's the line up?
The score sheet?
The scoring?
I showed him a run expectancy matrix on the weekend,
which is like how many outs,
how many runners on what base?
What's the likelihood of getting a run?
What's the average number runs?
Like nerd stuff.
And he was just like,
you've lost me.
You've lost me and your kids eat the dog.
Oh, he just could.
He's just like, this is amazing.
He's like, dad, there's one out on a runner on second, third.
There's a 62% chance they score a run.
I'm like, yes.
Rain man.
This is my nerd.
Talking my language.
Second of a three game set against the Yankees tonight's.
Whatever Dean said,
seem to be working.
Jay's 11 home wins in a row.
Reminder, that 365.
Really make a statement again tonight.
You got futures for the NHL already up.
you can bet on win totals in the NFL.
You got baseball, player props, all kinds of stuff, no matter.
Whatever your bet is, never ordinary.
I bet three, six, five.
Download the app, get in on the game.
Official partner, the NHL must be 19 older.
Please play responsibly.
We had McBride on.
We had to get him to look into the camera and say,
please play responsibly.
More on that coming up this summer.
Okay.
Super chats.
Do we have any?
today.
Nope.
People.
The hell.
Anniversary.
It's our anniversary.
The Panthers who lost that trade, according to many experts.
They seem to be okay with Matthew Kachukh.
Well, they've adjusted since the making the shitty trade, so they've found a way to
battle through.
Overcome.
Yeah.
It's a mentality.
They've been to three cup finals in the three years since the trade.
Is that good?
Seems, but how do they do in those finals?
No, we've been to three cup finals.
Ever, yeah.
86, 89 and oh, now Florida's been to more cup finals than we have.
Yes, correct, because you were there in 96.
In fact, they've been in the last three years to the same number of finals as the
Calgary flames have since moving to Calgary in the, uh, what, 1980?
So like when I said like it'd be fun to watch a team with a like a decade, nice, wrong,
like that's, yeah, like that contention window.
Yeah.
in fact i'd even take making the playoffs two years in a row because that hasn't happened here since
like you were on the team that's i played a long time ago i think you've got to be in the mistake
well there was the bubble thing but that was kind of a hoax because they weren't in the top eight so
that's good point remember that uh kichick chuk slicing shifley's achilles achilles that was the
little play in series shifley and nate mckenon uh i think helibuck was there they were skating at seven
chiefs last week. I've seen some photos of
Nate dog around town, golfing, having
fun. Morrissey's hosting the fellow
Sheifley spends his summers here.
See him around. I actually
ran into Morrissey a couple months ago.
Great guy. I'm sure he was pumped to see you.
Probably less,
but actually warmer than I thought.
I said a loo. I know you guys have seen some of the
clips. Family was nice.
He's a part owner of that
Calgary Wilde women's
soccer team. I don't know if you know that.
I did that. So you had a bit of the crew out
there with him.
I have a post-victory pine.
Good on him.
McKinnon's not on his team, though.
Yeah, McKinnon's not on his team.
You know what team they were on?
Four Nations.
No, this is a conspiracy.
They were on the Four Nations team together.
That's for Sid, smoozing with the McKinnon, too.
We're going to get all these guys,
Olympic year, bonding.
McKinon wants out of Colorado.
Coming to Calgary.
Bring them home.
Is that Connie's plan when all these guys get old?
They'd bring them in?
Okay, Brad and point.
Morrissey.
Hey, kill my car.
Well, I hope he doesn't bring it in
the plus 6 July 18th weather.
Well, they're all from here.
They know.
They understand.
Yeah, but they left.
And now they're like,
why in the,
what I said myself?
I don't know.
You'd bring them back during Stampede.
I heard an NBA owner was here at Stampede.
Dating a nice young Calgary girl.
Good on him.
Young guy.
Billetka.
Billions.
Not old.
Not old.
Younger than you.
Guarantee.
give you some deductive logic trying to figure out where that is.
Anyway, that does it for the live portion of the show earlier today.
Also joining us on the Crystal Waters.
Guest hotline was Dominique Rhymes of the Calgary Stampeders.
A reminder, heating, cooling, anything going on in your mechanical room.
It is Crystal Waters, your one-stop shop, Crystal Waters, Calgary.com.
Please be joined from the Red Hot Calgary Stampeters.
Rhymes who just recorded his first touchdown last week an incredible run for the team
dominique thanks for joining us man oh thank you for having me man it's a pleasure to be here this
morning fellas are looking good i mean i don't know what your expectations were but you know
we chat with dixon before the season he's like yeah we might be rolling over the entire defense
there's a lot of new faces and you're like well you know they could probably be better than five
wins but five wins in the first six weeks that's way better how how good
What are the guys feeling?
Guys, guys feel good, man.
It's been a lot of hard, like, hard practices.
People just working hard and hard in a sense of guys just getting out there, man.
We get the past, like we're banging like we're in the game.
You know, we're competing like it's game day every day.
So, like, once we get in the game, you know, everything's a lot slow down.
It's easier.
I mean, it's funny because me and Bernie talked before the season.
He was like, we're not losing.
I don't care what happened last year or we're not losing.
So it's just a mindset.
I think we have and everybody just brought into, man.
It's not losing that rep against our opponent.
UNVA played together in 2023 and BC.
How instrumental was his arrival to you picking Calgary and free agency?
Oh, it's big because that's always my brother.
Since he got to BC, we've always been cool.
and, you know, always chatted up all the time.
Even when I played in Ottawa, last year he was in BC,
I was still calling him, checking on him,
seeing how good he was doing over there.
So, man, just to, you know, get back.
And, man, it's just like playing with your brother, man.
So it's nothing but fun out there for us.
That's unreal.
The offense has been incredible.
The defense has been outstanding.
And I think the league has been put on notice when you beat Winnipeg,
then go into Regina win,
and then go win in Winnipeg again.
That's incredibly impressive.
Your only loss was in like some monsoon rains.
Otherwise, you're perfect.
Yeah.
First of all, you got to credit the coaches, man.
They've been coming up with some great game planning against those teams.
And, you know, we've just been, you know, executing on all, every, everything they've been on coaching on.
And, you know, everybody's bought in, you know, attention to detail is at a high level.
So, I mean, we just have to keep that up.
and, you know, keep that mindset of you want to go one and over every week.
And I think as long as we do that, you know, things, you know, go the way we want it to go.
So, I mean, the guys are hungry than ever, you know what I mean?
They think about last year and, you know, how people, you know, seeing the team and, you know, those type of memories make you go even harder for this year.
I got to ask you about the rookie, the moose, Damien Alford.
What have you seen from the kid and what's he like?
Because the last three games, he's exploded.
Yeah, man. I think I've seen it his first week account just, you know, how receptive he is to learning about the game and just how good he wants to, like, be as an own player.
I mean, each and every practice, you know, guys are, you know, catching balls after practice where we're getting runs and, you know, he's asking questions to be a better pro.
And I think when you get a rookie and he's on that type, he has that type of mindset.
I mean, the sky's the limit, man. I told him, once he got to.
his first touchdown i said hey why don't you go on the touchdown street and i mean look where we
at right now man i mean i love the kid so much man he's he's an incredible talent i'm glad he's with us
you know he you know i'm tall and you know we got tevin tall he makes us look small so i mean
i'm glad the moose is on our side so i had heard that uh v a found some sort of clip of his old
coach i probably at penn state where they called bambi his first uh couple games
and then he went off and had a big game.
Like, we gotta change his nickname.
He's now the Moose.
Did you and VA dig that up and get him going
on the Moose celebrations?
I didn't hear about that story of VA,
but no, we was on, I think the night before the Saskatchewan game,
we was an all-receivers at Earl's,
and you know, everybody has like their own signature thing
or what they do and we're like, man,
what you think yours would be?
He said, a moose, and then, you know,
we just came up with.
with the celebration i think tevin had him doing this with his hands and we're like now it's just
keep it here with it so i mean it was it was perfect and you know it's it's sticking so i mean i love it for
him i just need five percent yeah that's right yeah small little cream out small little smidget
what so you're going around the table you're talking about like your spirit animals or like what
animal you would be what was your answer when someone asked you uh i don't think i have the spirit
animal. Well, if he's the moose, like you were saying, you're at Earl's, the
fellows are out. You're going around the table. Is that sort of what you're saying?
Or is it just not animals? Just happen to be the him
was the moose. I'd be a grizzly bear.
I love it. I'm a mauler. I'm a monger. I'm a mongrel on the field.
It's like the mall people. Dude, that's
eight years in Canada. I guess seven, if you, if you look at the COVID craziness.
But you're not. Yeah.
Yeah, so were you here for that, by the way?
I shouldn't gloss over that.
Or did you stay at home?
Like, that would have been a disastrous year to be a player in this.
Yeah, no, I was back in Florida.
Yeah.
And then I was in Canada for a little bit with my wife.
So, yeah.
No fun.
Anyway, we'll move on.
You're calling yourself a grizzly bear.
You're from Miami.
That tells me you're starting to get some Canadian rubbed off on you,
a little maple syrup drizzled on you.
Yeah, man.
I tell people, I'm full Canadian now, man.
I've been staying in Canada probably for full time for like four years now with my wife.
So, yeah, I'm starting to become Canadian, eh?
Well done.
Nice to play.
Could you imagine that growing up as a kid in Miami that you're like,
oh, yeah, I'm just going to go live in another country for almost the decade?
I mean, if you would have told me that if I was in high school,
I'm like, I don't know where half those cities are.
The only city I know is Toronto.
So, yeah, man, I mean, it's crazy where life takes you.
But, I mean, I always tell people this, man,
God takes you to the places where you need to be.
And I need to be in Canada.
And life has been nothing but amazing since I've been in the CFL.
So it's been a blessing.
That's unreal.
What do you love about being up here?
It's obviously very different than Miami.
The rain you said before we started, very similar to Miami,
just not as warm.
Very similar, but I don't know, man.
I like seeing the seasons change, like seeing the leaves change.
Man, the people here are amazing.
They're courteous.
They're nice.
You could just walk anywhere.
You can just have a conversation with a random person.
You can't do that in Miami.
People just look at you crazy.
But, I mean, no, Canada's been nothing but nice to me.
So, I mean, it's a place, you know, I want to, you know, stay forever.
It's interesting.
A lot of new guys here in Calgary on this team, VA included that defense is almost entirely overhauled.
Dave Dickinson did return, but most of his staff got whacked from last year.
That can sometimes be a real tough spot for guys, but you guys have turned into a major positive.
Is that like clean slate, that fresh start helped the bunch for everyone where it's just like,
there's not a lot of baggage from last year in the sense that a lot of guys aren't here that were here last year.
Yeah, I think it's one of the things where, like you say, you have a fresh start and, you know, guys can start fresh, you know, some, you got new coaches, you got, you know, new things where you can change up a little bit and guys just like, yeah, man, I want to, I want to win, I want to be great. And, you know, it's a different mindset shift that people had coming to this year. Like, whatever it takes to win, whatever it takes to be great, we're willing to do. And I mean, you see it, you see that, you know, before practice after practice, after practice, guys are getting extra film.
extra lifting in, like asking the coaches, how can they be better?
Like, you just see all the right things happening.
And that's the type of thing you want that changes a culture that changes into a winning culture.
So that's something as, you know, guys that's been in the league, guys that's, you know,
great cup champions because you got a couple champions on the team.
They know what it takes.
And, you know, all it takes is a few guys to do certain things to everybody else start doing the
same thing.
And then you have just one big train rolling of guys knowing the right things around the facility.
Hey, best of luck on Thursday.
You guys host Montreal.
Congrats on 5,000 yards.
You cleared that earlier this year.
Walked me through that touchdown you had last week because all of a sudden there's
one D back for two wide receivers.
I'm like, this isn't going to go well for that guy.
Number 31 is going to get cooked up here.
Yeah, I think it was just a personnel issue.
I think they thought we were doing short yarders because, you know, we made substitutions
and I think they just, yeah, they messed up.
And I was on the receive.
And then he said he was going to throw it to.
whoever 31 went to.
So I was just lucky enough to get that free touchdown.
It was probably the easiest touchdown on my career,
but I take it every day.
Keep it rolling.
Thanks for chatting with us, Dominique.
Hey, thank you for having me.
Have a great day.
