Well, I bet you wondered if we'd have a show today.
Welcome to it.
It is Barn Burner on a Monday, Rhett.
Good day, sir.
How are you?
Eyes are still swollen, but I'm great.
As, you know, you learn, you mature, you grow in life.
I knew Jack would be a bag of crap today.
And because, you know, he floored it Friday.
Jack, how are you today?
Bag of crap, Ryan.
Just nothing new.
I should take a little better care of yourself, maybe.
Probably should, yeah.
That starts today, Rhett.
All right.
Wow, not today.
No, not today.
I had my Christmas dinner last night.
You had your Christmas dinner last night.
Certainly.
My goodness.
All right, let's get to it.
It's Barnburner on a Monday.
Stans boom today.
We're going to let the Big Cat take a little time.
So sleepy, big, yeah.
Pulled the all-nighter before the drinky show.
No idea why.
It doesn't make sense to me.
But we're going to get in the week.
I'm going to take next week.
You come and go as you please.
Deal?
I'm always here.
Apparently it's up when you're in Buffalo for two years.
But yeah.
It is Barnburner brought to you by Bet365.
They present the show.
How nice of them.
A great weekend with the old Bet365.
All kinds of fun.
NFL football was great yesterday.
All kinds of flames action.
You got World Cup futures, whatever you want.
It's all there.
And it's never ordinary with Bet365.
Make sure you download the app and use that promo code, Nation.
Just be 19.
and, you know, be responsible and all that good stuff.
Also, if you want to join the program today, it's very easy.
Red, how do people get involved in the program?
What do they need to do?
Well, you just go into the YouTube's there.
He sent a little super chat, sprinkle a little dough in there.
We'll chat it up, and then we'll slide it over to the Youth Centers of Calgary.
I love the Youth of doing great work in our community with at-risk youth to give them safe place to go,
place where they maybe play an instrument, maybe eat some healthy food, maybe play with,
With pals.
Maybe not outside and minus.
Maybe.
Maybe they're tough as nails.
They're getting out there.
I don't know.
Whatever you want.
Go get them.
Go get them, kids.
So go ahead and join the program.
Going to be a very holiday-esque show today.
Don't expect too much hard hitting anything.
I don't know what you're talking about.
I'm ready to go.
Rhett, you're ready to go.
Rhett, the Calgary Flames host of the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday.
And it was the day after our epic annual.
How did Friday go?
How did Saturday go?
How are your bills?
Walk us through your weekend.
The bills embarrassed me.
Really?
I felt like.
They killed a parley of mine.
Minus 10 in Cleveland.
Yeah.
Got the win.
They got the win, but it's,
they don't look promising, I guess.
This is not a defense that can stack up in a playoff run and do damage.
They just get lit up.
Alan tweaked his ankle.
He did.
on the sidelines a while there.
I woke up Saturday.
I was a little slow.
Surprisingly,
okay, though,
because I left fairly early.
It's the thing about day drinking.
It's beautiful stuff.
Like, you get at it early,
and, you know,
you're so far removed from it by the next morning.
You know, actually pretty good.
So Saturday was okay.
It did start to wane a little bit,
but had to go to the flames game.
I'll tell you what.
That was one hell of a hockey game.
And the barn was buzzing.
I tell you,
you get those holiday games.
people are jacked up great crowd and the team did not disappoint no there was i said before that i don't
know one player that i would question what are you doing there yeah well you were no good they were
all good now if i could go over the vegas roster i'd have doesn't matter maybe it's because the flames
were dynamite got to give them credit they put on a great show longberg scoring fighting clapka
running into the goalie they were skating they were in control of it they
they're only impressed.
Bloody Lombard just always has to fight dudes way bigger,
and he does not give a crap.
I think Klapka wimped out there.
That's the only thing I would say.
So there's two things that happened.
Clapka ran over the goalie,
and he and Lozahn were talking early.
That was on the goal.
It was after the puck won in.
Nothing happened.
And Lozahn and Klopka are chirping.
And then I think Lozahn drills Coronado,
and Lomburg's like, that's enough.
Yeah.
Now it happened to be after.
he scores, but I did say, I was at the game as well, I'm like, we're going to get a
Klapka-Losan fight. And Lozan, I think it was like a top two or three guy in total fights a
few years ago in the league. Like, he can handle his business. This is something he's good at.
I thought we were going to get Clapka Lozon. It sure looked like he went right over to
Klafka after he bumped the goal. Yeah, and you're like, okay, here we go. Obviously, this has
to happen. Yeah, you got all night. It's going to happen one of these shifts.
Whatever. It was good on Lomburg, good little scrubs.
crap. Backlin looked good. Backlin looked good. And hit a crossbar of the shift after his second goal.
It's almost like five seconds after you scored. I had to go Google it. He has one hatchick in his career.
Yeah, I know. It's too bad, actually. Almost two. Almost two. This first one was like way back. I want to say like 2016 or something. And it was one even strength, one power play, one shorthanded. But that line's going, man. And Zeri's come back to life.
There's no lines that aren't going. That's fair. Yeah. Like the fourth line immediately put.
put their fingerprints on the game early because Klopka gets the goal.
You get in the scraps,
Lomburg scores.
Yeah, like that didn't play.
Three points.
Anderson's playing a ton of minutes.
The defense looks like it's completely solidified since getting Kuznetsov in there.
And Bresdivich.
Anyone missed Jake Bean and Mirmanov?
I don't know that we're shooting for the moon,
but they're a competitive squad.
Yeah,
Which is kind of...
Which is kind of...
I'm not going to give them shit for playing their ass off and putting on the show.
And look, like, if you're a player or coach, your job's going games.
Like, this tank stuff is not for players or coaches.
It just isn't.
Like, that's not how pro sports works.
Even in the NFL, it's like Tennessee Titans are out there playing their asses off trying to win.
Big win on the weekend.
They're not thinking about picking first overall.
Big win.
Huge.
It's the GM and management that have to force the hand of the coach by taking away good pieces
and clearly they're not there yet.
And they aren't there.
Probably will be.
I don't think they're blinded by anything.
No.
But watching that game makes it,
you can see that you can argue the other side.
Can.
I don't,
I won't buy it,
but you can argue it.
You make the case.
You're not going to win in court.
This is a good judge,
but you can make the case.
Yeah.
You can put it in front of them,
let them decide,
but I had fun,
that's as fun as I've had at hockey game in a while.
I thought it was entertaining.
I thought the crap.
was into it. Like you said, maybe it's the holiday thing. It's always the holidays, man.
And I'm not trying to take anything away from the game, but like how many people are worried
about work Saturday night at the dome? You're right into the holidays.
Six o'clock start would have been nice.
Oh, you don't like the 8th. It's a little more time for the behoose.
See, this is where the Canadians have it all wrong.
Just start earlier.
You can do that. Like it's like the dummies in Buffalo keeping the bar up until four.
Well, you're, why?
Four a.m. What are we talking?
about. I used to love that. Now I'm like, no.
That's just going to ruin tomorrow.
So that's my only knock.
Yeah. Six o'clock start. Would have been better.
I got to see a dude
thrown out of Dutton's and handcuffed and
shirt off and snowbank on Saturday.
It was a great night.
We got guys making things happen. And you know what?
Jack? Was his name Jack?
No, he's not far off from Jack.
It'd fit right in with Jack's curve.
See a big Steelers on? Did he have a steel? I did see the dusters
Saturday night too.
our boys
Tweedledee and Tweedledum
They were out at Duckies
Ripping some karaoke
I was getting face times
At like three in the morning
When they were with you
I'm like stop fucking calling
I was going way ahead of that
But yeah
Stop
Jack how are you doing
Because here's the thing
I'm fine
We know Jack can fire it up
But he's just
He's on IR for a week after
I'm a one and done
Gunna of a guy
Like it's okay Jack
That's okay
You just got to know
your limits. There was no chance I was rallying
Saturday. No. I was getting calls
left, right and center. Just leave
me the FLO. So can we recap what
happened Saturday or Friday? I had to leave
because my kid at a hockey game, which was
not a good idea. I got there and I'm like, I'm not
supposed to be here. This is not right.
And I immediately, wife picked
me up and I Uber right back to
I'm out of here. I'm not hanging around.
I had to go. And then I get a
buzz at like I want to say nine or
10, Jack. Yeah. And you're like,
Oh, I don't have my keys.
You got to come lock the studio.
I'm like, you don't have your keys.
Well, yeah, I was going to lose them.
Okay, well, do you bring a wallet?
Like, what do you mean?
You don't have the keys.
Didn't have keys?
I got dropped off.
So when I left, the show's still going.
I think we ended up being about six and a half hours.
If you're listening audio only, this is probably somewhat new to you.
YouTube does have our holiday spirit show.
Big thank you to Keo.
Big thank you to all our great guests.
and anyone that I guess was in our wake
because it does get a little spilly around here.
Yeah, there was a few things going on.
I got out of here probably earlier than I ever have
and then I had to come back and lock up and it was like,
well, thanks for cleaning up, Jack.
Five stars on the old Haverstock cleaning show.
It was like a hurricane came through here.
It wasn't touched.
It was.
No, there was pizza still out.
There was nuts and bolts stomped into the floor.
A thousand wounded soldiers, half drank drinks.
Okay, give me credit, though.
I came in yesterday.
I put it in three hours.
Good.
Yeah.
So I did an hour Friday night when I had to come lock it up, the old drunken stumbling
cleanup.
I was so mad I didn't take a pizza home.
I know.
And I even put it in the fridge for you.
We're going to present it to you today.
Yes.
I got it already.
Jack already turned out.
What?
Ryan told me to take all the pizza.
I said there's food in the fridge.
You were a sniveling prick.
And here's the thing, Jack, there is a full pizza in there that doesn't say rats do not touch.
You touch the do not touch.
I didn't even look.
I just grabbed the boxes.
You know, and yesterday, guess what I had?
What is you have?
I had a lasagna.
But guess who didn't make it for me?
Jack.
That's right.
Jack's outstanding debts.
The ledger is really.
Holy.
And then he was talking about three in the country on Friday night.
Oh, yeah.
He's, am I out of here?
He's out of first.
You told me.
Jeez.
If we have any super chats or comments regarding Friday night,
feel free to fire them in.
Well, I'll keep them to yourself.
It's topical.
Yeah, definitely screen those, Jack.
Don't just throw anything all willy-nilly.
Super chats.
They're not regarding the show of things.
Yeah.
They were great Saturday night.
If you get a chance to go on 27th, I highly recommend it.
That's going to be game of the year.
Might be.
Because I don't, I think the hole is too deep.
They've got to pass so many teams.
I'm like, look, they're on a nice little run here.
They are 1,000th out of 35.
first place. What are they? 10, 4 and 1 in the last 15? Pretty tidy, right? You're going to have to do that
again. Yeah, you need another 10, 4 and 1. And like the Sabres won 6 in a row. There's still like 6 points out in the
east. It's, it is so compressed. There's so many teams to pass. I don't buy them as legitimate
playoff team. I do think they're going to move Rasmus because they don't agree on money.
Rasmus was on after hours on Saturday, and I'd recommend it. I think
Sportsnet put the whole entirety of it up on on YouTube. And it's, God,
of like that guy.
And it's so,
you feel weird saying it.
Like,
you got to trade rasmus.
Love the player.
Always have.
Like,
I remember as a swagger,
it's got some physicality about him,
all situations.
There's zero issues with them other than you're getting older and you want a lot of
money.
And I don't even know the money.
You've got me all confused about the money because he earns,
he's earned it.
He's going to get the money.
I know,
but you're saying the cap's going up.
So maybe the amount.
I don't think he's a bad investment.
I think he's the wrong investment for a team that is looking to enter their prime in, let's say, three to six years.
I think it's not opposite.
I think it's something different.
It's less about who he is and what he is.
It's more about what you need to get to be better down the road.
Yes, I think he's a good player and a great asset for the flames.
The problem is if you don't move them, you don't get that return.
You don't get a couple first rounders.
That's the problem.
No one is suggesting Rasm's.
Anderson is not a good player worth the contract he's going to get and that he's going to
torpedo your team.
What we're saying is, man, if you moved Rasmus, that would help you follow the standings,
get a better player and the assets you get in trade.
Better slotting.
And like if you really want to turn this thing around quicker, you don't sit on veterans
and let them turn 40 and walk out the door.
You move them while they're worth stuff.
I know what's been said.
But it's a good player.
That's why you'd want to move.
That's it.
You're moving him because the rest of the league wants him and you can get a good return.
Because he's so valuable, you're going to get assets back.
You're going to get a first and hopefully a really good prospect.
And if you get a bidding war, maybe even a third or fourth piece.
Like you look at the Lindholm deal.
Like, Elias Lindholm is not a bad player.
You know.
Way winier than Rasmus.
Seems for sure.
But it wasn't like, oh, you can't pay Rasmus that's going to kill you.
Like, no, the Burns are having a nice year.
And Elias is a part of that.
But it was like, look what you got back.
You got Bristevich.
You got Gridden.
Like, those are two huge pieces moving forward.
You don't have those if you've got Lenton.
And you're like, yeah, you know, Lindholm maybe is earning his money this year.
But like, imagine this team without one of the top young players in the American League,
this organization, who's going to graduate this spring or next year and be a big piece moving forward.
And we've loved Bristevich.
Never mind the other picks that you got.
It was five pieces.
And Farby and Frost you don't get unless you had Kuzmenko or Kuzmankov.
in that deal as well because you send him to Philly
with Peltier who's in the American League and you turned it into two
NHLers.
Verby looks really good.
Might be tradable at this point with that contract.
Hell yeah.
Now you're running everyone on it.
Not run out of town.
Trying to get this team to win a cup.
Not easy.
You definitely don't just...
You're going to get some serious pushback if they keep.
If they win the next two games...
Oh, I know. I can feel it coming.
And again, there are only one point out of second last in the NHL.
What is the standing?
Are you going to show you the bottom 10?
Let's do it right now because we have in the Pinder Report every day.
It's sort of a staple of the show.
We're going to start hitting the tank simulator in the new year.
Go right into the Pender Report right now if you want.
We will in a moment.
Let's just flash up the bottom 10 because we've got some new fighters.
New player, new player.
The Winnipeg Jets with Connor Hellebuck back for a week now.
are at 4-71.
Please welcome Jets fans into the chat.
What a miserable start to the year.
Look at this.
Oh, and they weren't playing well,
but Hellebuck was there saving their bank
and stealing points early.
They lose them for like, what,
two and a half, three weeks
and we thought it was going to be four to six.
He's back.
The whole thing, all of it.
Chicago was plummeted.
And what happened was Nashville's playing well.
Look at them.
St. Louis has strung some wins together.
Vancouver has not lost since the trade.
You know, the William trade.
I don't know who Vancouver sent away, but...
They traded a defenseman.
I can't remember what I see it was, but Calgary's playing well.
And so the teams we were sure were the worst three in the league two weeks ago were
Calgary, Nashville, St. Louis.
And now you're like, okay, Vancouver lookout, but now they're hot again.
It's like, I'm worried about Seattle, Columbus, Chicago.
Seattle has got a real...
Seattle's got a contender look about them, don't they?
They have a committed look to...
Yeah, they've only played 33 games.
And they traded Mason Marchman on the weekend as well.
Yeah, they're already starting.
They know.
They know.
Yes.
This is getting very complicated red.
I did not have the predators all the way up at seventh from the bottom on my bingo card.
So is Utah in the final wild card?
I'm sorting by points percentage and the game's played by Utah.
You can see a really high.
So it's a little misleading.
38.
Yeah.
Yeah. So I'm always starting my points of percentage just because it gets rid of that.
And sharks are ahead of them.
Yeah.
They're all going to play 82, unless we get another pandemic.
And we might just play it through it this time.
We don't need to talk about that.
But point being, as good as the flames have been.
And what an incredible run.
We're talking about like five weeks probably.
Like I didn't look at the standings for a couple days.
You're like, they got to be right away.
Yes.
And so basically, look at the percentage, 4.7.
for the flames.
Like, okay, they're creeping up on 500.
Well, 471 is tied for the second worst team in the league.
So they're like a rounding error away from being second last still, despite this run.
They're trending up to...
They're trending up, but they're also trending to play the Oilers to the next two.
I don't know what to make of their...
Where the hell is Buffalo?
Buffalo has won six in a row.
You're going to lose that bet, too, Jack.
They're undefeated.
They're three and oh since they changed the GM, not that that's something that you feel in the room necessarily,
maybe there's a bit of fresh air.
These sneaky Chicago black guys might be doing a damn fine job themselves.
Because if they get another high end.
And they've blown a couple sure wins too, butards out on New Year.
They've got an excuse.
They've had a lot of excitement.
I know.
So it hasn't been just a complete debacle like last year.
They might be the bells of the ball as far as the draft is concerned.
This is a Seattle Chicago showdown in my mind, right?
That's where I'm at.
The thing for Chicago's, they don't have to get the number one.
No, no, gosh.
If they get a top three?
Well, and again, I was saying it the other day and boom, didn't seem to understand my point,
but I don't think there's a huge gap between McKenna Stenberg-Verhoff.
You're just, what kind of player do I want?
I have them all in the same box in terms of like they are all doing things you don't see happen often.
Stenberg's the highest scoring guy in the Swedish top league in his draft year ever at this point.
He's tracking to beat the Siddines, Nazland, like prolific Swedish.
players. Verhoff is 17
years old playing top minutes in Nodak.
That's a big NCAA program. He's
at the World Juniors. And McKenna,
I mean, not a great year this
year, but not a bad one.
And I think we're going to get a little bleep
you over the world juniors here because
he's not playing with good line mates of Penn State.
They kind of screwed him a bit. So I
sort of see it as there's three
can't miss studs at the top.
You can add some other names. It's not like it
falls off a cliff there. But
Chicago doesn't, like, they don't need to
forward. They don't need a winger. They don't need whatever you want.
If they got any of those guys, they're way better.
They're going from average to elite.
They start looking like the ducks do where it's like, shit, where do they get all these players?
Leo Carlson. Second. Like, oh, damn, that would be a nice guy to add. Oh, where'd they get this
Beckett Seneca? Oh, Seneca. Oh, they drafted him third overall.
They just got that monster Roger McQueen. He's a Providence. This is your 6-6, right?
So he's going to join that team next year. They're just collecting good young players.
They picked a high in the draft.
Hence trade Anderson.
That's right.
Thank you.
Bring us back.
How rude of me not to, first off, let you know that we are live from the McLeod Law Studios,
but also that if we needed it, we did have some off-the-clock legal advice on Friday.
Did you see anyone consulting legal advice?
I was consulting the guy that could offer it.
I could use some legal advice when I saw that dude get hauled into the snowboard.
banked by the cops on Saturday, but he probably had to come to him.
Either way, look, you don't have legal issues until you have them.
When you have them, you need the right people.
MacLeod-dashlaw.com, that's where you go.
Peter Klein, we know he's, hey, I'm paying for these, all this long-term insurance.
Now my company's not paying me.
What the hell is that all about?
Get Peter Klein, you'll get your money, right?
Like, get an expert in there that knows how these things go.
let's say you get terminated and it's like,
this ain't right.
Why are they not?
Hey,
this is my contract.
Shane King.
You're going to take care of you.
They got family law.
They've got all kinds of different departments there.
It's your one stop shop for all your legal issues.
And they're Calgary.
You're not phoning some 1-800 number and someone picking up in Bangladesh.
This is Calgary people that know Calgary, how it works.
You don't have legal issues until you do, but when you do McLeod law, that's what you need to know.
Fair?
And you've,
I use multi.
You lean on it.
Weekly.
Well,
because you're a big land baron.
I got lots on the go.
So much.
Entrepreneur.
All the,
everything I need.
Yeah.
Debt collection,
Jack.
Jack,
we need that's what we could have used.
Now,
we set it on YouTube.
Can I,
can we enter that in the court of law?
Can you just send me like a bill?
McLeoddashlaw.
Yeah,
send me an invoice.
No,
no paper chill,
Jack.
Just pay you.
We're going to have a pizza day like a year ago?
There's a lot of days.
McLeod-Law.com.
Big shout out to the fellas and gals at McLeod Law.
I'm almost through Christmas party season.
It won yesterday.
Multiple last week.
Sunday night.
It's a fan afternoon.
No, you know what it is?
We grew up with another family and it was like all the kids are the same age.
Parents got along great.
And now we all got grandkids.
So it's like a 4 p.m.
Let all the grandkids run around.
Nerf Gun Wars.
Secret Santa.
It sounds like one of those.
Climy castle gym houses where everyone gets sick and spreads.
Yeah, it wasn't far off that.
But the kids are like, I want to say we got a one infant, a two and a three.
And the rest are in this like seven to 12 pocket.
So they're just playing.
It wasn't a droly bouncy castle fest necessarily.
They got two tomorrow night.
here's after Friday
what I think we
Yeah I know
Cousin one
And then no it's not popular
This is the
You gotta make your rounds
No you know
We've argued about this
About three years in a row
I tell you
I'm a social idiot
Here's here's my move though
No is an answer
Because Friday
We'll take a little wind out of your sales
Won't it?
It can
Like Jack's gonna be down for the count
He had Christmas dinner on the weekend
He's cooked he's done for the hall
Yeah if you're a weak-willed individual
it'll absolutely slow you down.
So I'm going to show you a little move.
This is the Temple Golden Logger.
And this is how you survive.
I got to bring those home for the father-in-law because he don't drink no more.
And they're delicious.
That's the whole thing.
And so I met this thing yesterday.
My wife's like, do you want to drive?
I'm like, that's fine.
That's great.
They didn't have a good non-alcoholic like temple, but they had one.
I'm like, okay, that's fine.
If I had these, I should have brought them.
So if you're going to a party, if you're hosting a party,
If you know, good Lord, I can't do this again.
Or you're like, hey, I just like cheers in with the fellas.
That doesn't have to have booze in it.
I just like, it's a temple golden lacquer right there.
It is a great sound.
It's a nice.
I'd ask you to drink just so you hear the sound, but everyone heard the sound.
We know what the sound sounds like.
It sounds exactly like a beer.
But of course, the clearheadedness that doesn't come with, you know, what we did on Friday.
I shouldn't do that.
Here's the beauty about Temple.
Easy to get.
Because here's the thing, because it doesn't have booze in it,
you don't need to go to the liquor store.
It's like Amazon, deliver it to your door.
You don't need an 18-year-old to sign for it at the front door or anything crazy.
Temple.com.
Drinktempel. Drinktempel.com.
And again, Calgary co-op grocery stores as of late November,
you find them all over.
If you're hosting and you don't have temples,
I'm throwing hands with you.
Come on.
Because I'm a Christmas party now.
Jack's crazy.
Jack needs the temples going.
If you're Pinders coming,
you should definitely have temples,
then he won't get out of hand.
Yeah,
the liability is lowered.
It's not for his benefit.
It's for your own good.
It's for everyone, really.
Yeah.
That's fair.
Consume without compromise.
It's the golden lager.
That'll be your everyday favorite,
only 65 calories per can.
Pind Report,
when I get into it?
Yes.
Because it was a big NFL Sunday.
We had...
It's not good for retro fantasy.
football. So you had the nerve to put up
like a billion points against me in round one
and now you're just lying down?
Yes, absolutely mailed it in. Now,
you could call it mismanagement, but I don't think it is.
Okay, well, we'll walk us through it and then
we'll get to the Pender Report.
Okay, Pender reports for our good friends at Village Honda,
man, it is winter out there.
So if you're sitting there
in some sort of a compact two-door
front wheel spinning around
summer, stop it, stop it.
Go to Village Honda. It is their winter
ready SUV event that is on now.
You can check the inventory of villagehonda.com.
You can get right up to the Northwest Auto Mall.
And as we tell you, this is test drive weather.
It's not 24, no wind on a summer day with bald highways.
Right now is when you don't want to test drive a vehicle to see how it actually works.
In the winter that you live in, the climate that Calgary carries seemingly forever.
Let's get up there.
Let's start with the Calgary Flames.
Rasmus Anderson was front and center on Saturday.
Another great game.
He's having an awesome year.
There's always that fear.
guys in his walk year.
What if he has a bad year?
He's going to hurt his trade value.
The flip side of the coin is,
oh, of course he played well.
This guy's working for a contract.
We hear all these narratives when guys get in the last year.
He's been awesome.
He played on a broken leg for multiple weeks last year.
He was not at his best.
Plus minus is pretty ugly.
It's been excellent.
I looked.
He's just on the outside of the top 10 in defensive scoring this year.
Rasmus!
He's right there with Rasmus Dahlene.
That's a few games.
Fair enough.
He's right there with their Carlson's of the world.
I don't necessarily think that's how you would describe him as an offensive defense.
But he's doing it all.
He's playing big minutes.
And he's been a big part of a flames resurgence over the last five weeks.
So the conversation is very much front and center.
On every trade board, Rasmus right near the top, if not the top.
Pike does a little diving.
And as far as the rumor mill, last year, they were asking for a first and a good prospect.
This year, I'm sure they'll be asking for the first and a good prospect.
And if he's playing this, maybe your best prospect or two of your best prospects or two firsts.
Rasmus then went on after hours of Scott Oak, did a great job chatting with the Hockeyton, Canada crew, always candid.
It never feels like Rasmus is spinning some sort of PR nonsense.
That's just who he is.
What you hear is what he feels.
There's not a filter.
There isn't a PR training firm that's telling him what to say.
Rasmus is Rasmus.
We love Rasmus.
He wants to be aflame.
He basically said, I'm hearing insiders saying I'm changing my mind.
I'm in him out.
He says nothing's changed.
The problem is it takes two to tango.
I want to be here.
And clearly he and the flames are not on the same page financially, which I understand
from both sides.
Rasmus has been an undermarket deal right out of entry level.
He's making $4.55 million is a guy that might have been Trillivings best move.
Hard to argue.
You locked him in six years, I believe it was.
It immediately became a deal.
He's been a top three, top two to five.
defenseman, pretty much the entirety of the deal.
And at the end of the deal, you're still going to have the ability, in theory, to move
them out for a huge pile assets.
That's about as good as a signing gets.
Now, the rumored ass from Rasmus was max term $9 million.
That's the Jacob Chikrin deal, eight times nine.
The flames are more comfortable with the rumored amount of what Neil Pionk made, which was a six
times seven.
And while eight times nine and six times seven sound close, they're not.
One's 42 million.
and the other 72 million.
You're 30 million apart.
And I'm sure that gap's probably narrowed a bit.
But does Rasmus's trajectory match the flames?
And to your point,
does Rasmus on the flames for, let's say,
the next eight years help you more or less
than the package you're going to get in return
and all the cap space you'll have down the road
when, as most people will,
he'll start to decline in his mid-30s until he's out of the league
before he's 40, like 99% of players in the NHL.
It's a real pickle.
It's a pickle.
But love the Rasmus, check out the video, and, yeah, I feel for him a bit because if this team was run differently, it's an easy extension.
He's a core piece.
We're contending.
We need him.
The problem is, they're a point out of second from the bottom and only a few points out of last in the league.
Do you believe that what they have?
I don't know if we've ever discussed this.
I don't.
But do you believe that what they have outside of their NHL squad,
that there's enough talent that keeping in,
when those guys graduate,
Grin specifically, Rashney, I guess,
in a perfect scenario.
Cogs that comes back,
do you believe that those guys are good enough
to keep Anderson and be competitive?
Do you know what I mean?
I don't.
I think you're right in Mucky Middleland.
Yeah.
And so what I think is that if you move Rasmus,
now you go get your game breaker in the draft.
Because if you move Rasmus, this team's going to feel it.
Big time.
I also think you've got a log jam on the right.
Weger can play both sides, but he's a righty.
Restavich is a righty, Perix are righty,
Henry Mews is a ready, that he's coming.
He's going to be a good player, although he's done for the year.
That's a few years down the road.
It's just when you sign an eight-year deal,
you got to zoom out a bit.
And if you've got five guys that play the right side
that you think are NHL D men,
take away the name bars and the feelings you have about a player
and just say, oh, you got a lot of righties.
You could trade a righte and add somewhere else on your roster.
And in this case, it would be in the form of a very high pick
that hopefully could be your number one center
or a star player for the next decade.
We'll see.
What if you're not trading Cadre Coleman?
I could see the moving, I think the most likely scenario,
if I was guessing, and this is a guess.
They move one of the two.
One of the two?
Not both.
Because they just do have this inclination of like,
we really don't want to bottom out that much.
Exactly.
If you're not trading those other guys,
then I think you keep Anderson.
I think if you move just Anderson and not the others,
you're still going to get yourself a top three pick.
It's just the minutes he plays are not,
like you can't just fire Brestevich into top pair minutes right now.
Even top four.
Yeah, there's going to be a major drop off.
And even when Perrette comes back,
it's like, look, very skilled, very talented,
has not figured it out at the NHL level.
I mean, he's played what?
15 games in the NHL, I don't know, something like that.
Like when he gets a couple hundred games in,
he's going to be hopefully an electric player.
He's not there yet.
Same with Bristavich.
So you think they trade Anderson and then one of those two years?
Yeah, it sounds like they've had a billion calls on Coleman
because he's the type of player that is so easy for a contender to add.
You're not scared about the term on the deal.
There's only one you're left.
He's worth his money.
He makes 4.9.
He's won two cups before.
And it's that magical third-line checking winger.
He won two cups in Tampa playing with Barclay-Gadryo Yannigord.
And obviously, it wasn't the third line that won in the cups is Kuturovs and Vasilevsky.
The Halsk, the NHL website is just dog shit.
You've got to go to the other ones.
Hey?
Yeah.
Like, if you're running.
Might be something you want to look at.
A league.
Yeah.
Make it good.
Like.
make it easier for us to fall in love
It's terrible.
Anyway, sorry.
Yeah.
So I think Coleman is going to have huge demand
to the point where it's like we have to accept this offer.
There's only one year left on them.
I am going the other way and boom, sit it.
I'm not,
it's not a fight.
The problem is I don't disagree with what they should do.
Right.
But what they will do is what they will do is different.
I watched that team and I got the sense that they do have a good.
They believe.
And they do have a belief.
And they like playing together.
It looked like a team that was enjoying the challenge.
Yes, for sure.
Now, it was Vegas without Eichl and Theodore, and that's not nothing.
And I didn't love their...
Yeah, but there's other teams out there that don't have an Eichl.
You know what I mean?
Right.
I understand what you're saying, but I don't think that that matters.
So do you think they can make the playoffs or no?
I'm not predicting they make the playoffs.
Yeah.
What I'm predicting is that they like...
They told us.
They like their core.
Yeah.
They like their guys.
Yeah.
I can see, or at least I can sense,
those guys like playing together.
They think they can make the more.
They do.
They believe, yes.
And they should.
And good on them for believing,
because there's nothing worse to watch than a team that doesn't believe.
What I'm getting at is that you keep going back to,
are they going to make the play?
I don't know.
They haven't made them for three years.
Yeah.
I don't think they make it this year.
I don't know that they care.
No, they're still trying to do it.
That's not the right things.
They clearly they care.
It'll care about our expectations.
Yes.
They don't care that we think this is a better path.
They agree.
They like Codry.
They like Coleman.
They're obviously arguing with Anderson.
And I think, I don't think they're blind to the,
we could really get some nice pieces.
But I also think there's,
I would say there's a ton of turmoil down at that,
at the Saddle Dome.
In front office.
With all those guys,
trying to stir those drinks, not sure what the recipe is supposed to be.
There's a lot of opinions.
Yeah.
There's a lot of different paths.
And we've seen a lot of different hockey from the, you guys are horse to now.
Yeah.
That's a good team.
They played well.
I agree with the entirely.
I think there's probably been some very, very heated, like, pleading of like this group can
compete.
And I think there's also probably been some really strong, like, guys, here's our chance
to go get the piece that.
it's the hardest to get, which is the superstar.
And they're probably both right to a degree.
So, sir.
Like, you definitely have an opportunity to get a superstar in the draft,
and you could do it if you move the right pieces.
And you could also, as you're saying, make a compelling case that,
you know, what you saw in that environment Saturday night,
if you can replicate that another, you know,
maybe you can be eight in the West.
But I just keep saying at the end of the day, like,
let's say somehow, some way.
this team goes on an absolute tear
and they sneak into the playoffs
as Wildcard 2 like how you can do against Colorado?
It's eight days in jet fuel is the Sutter line.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, again, I'm not arguing that they
I just, when you watch them live,
it's like, they don't agree with our take.
No, and that's fine.
I don't want the players trying to lose, right?
Nope.
I don't want the coach saying let's not prepare a game plan
and let's not work on the penalty kill,
which was horseshit for the first month.
been really good since.
They're doing their jobs.
And the question is management's job,
which direction are you going to take this?
We'll keep moving.
We got Matt V. Gridden, we just mentioned.
He was a return in the last Lindholm deal.
He's having a monster year.
We'll start with just some stats from the 19-year-old.
Now, most 19-year-olds are not allowed to play in the American hockey leagues.
If they're drafted out of the CHL,
Gridden was drafted out of the USHL, then went to the queue.
He's on pace per the win column,
I'm an excellent flames blog.
One of the greatest U20 HL seasons ever.
It's a great company.
Talking about Rantanins and all kinds of really impact players
that if you drafted out of Europe or the U.S.
All of European guys that get to play in the H.L.
Look what he's doing at 19.
Like, he is one of the youngest players in this league.
He's almost a point per game.
This is rare air.
Like, we saw this type of production from, let's say, Conor Zeri,
like two years older than Gridden is right now.
This is impressive shit.
And this is a great sign for the Calgary Flames,
who I think have a glut of wingers.
And if they got to a spot where they said,
we got to make room for the Hansicks and Griddens of the world,
Hansik's probably done for the year.
But moving forward, like, if they liquidated a winger or two,
I want to see this guy in the spring for 15, 20 games.
Like post-deadline, get them in here.
Maybe you're too good and you're in a playoff spot.
But if you're fighting for a James.
I don't care where he plays.
up.
We've got Cammy Kepke joining us.
So we'll just, we'll rip through this Pinder report.
It's not a big one.
We showed you the bottom 10.
Another H.L story.
I don't know if you remember this name.
Arseni Sergiv.
He, a Flames draft pick,
Wrangler's debut.
How about this yesterday?
52 saves on 53 shots.
Give up a lot of shots there, Suts.
Let's go.
Tighten up, fellas.
Oh, she's.
That's a great debut.
He and Say have kind of been the young guys that they're alternating with
Prosvatov, but that's a hell of a debut.
You like that?
52 and 53.
Well done.
Tip of the cap to him.
Let's go to results from last night in the NHL.
We've got a slate to tell you about.
Lots of games on a Sunday.
I didn't notice many because the NFL was on, but here's what you need to know.
look at a Nashville win.
Look at a Buffalo win.
The Wild finally get roughed up after that Quinn Hughes deal.
They get throttled by Colorado.
Those are two of the top three teams in the league.
That's sending a message.
Yep.
And the other top three team in the league is Dallas.
They pounded the Leafs.
Different message there.
Oof.
Ugly.
Penguins get it done in overtime.
That's one point for Montreal, Jacko.
And the Bruins who we'll see soon here,
where at home they lost to the senators.
Also a three-point game between the Utahs and the Jets.
We'll take it at the bottom of the standings.
Speaking of Buffalo,
mentioned it already.
How do you like six in a row?
Remember when they won 10 in a row back in 2020?
We were like, it's over.
The drought's over.
And then they just went back to being Buffalo after the 10-game winning streak.
And most of them were like overtimes or getting heavily outshot.
Six is a nice number.
It's kind of like the flames going 10-4.
and one and 50. You have to do it again.
You do. Yeah. And there's still like six points out.
So they clearly have made up some ground.
But the East is insane. It's like three or four points separating second in the whole conference to being like well out of the playoffs.
I don't, it's insane.
We'll keep moving.
While it's good in Buffalo, it is not in Toronto.
They have been absolutely miserable.
There's, Austin Matthews doesn't look right.
John Tavares had a great start.
He's been crickets lately.
He seemed to be missing Mitch Marner.
The decor is banged up.
Neelander doing anything, or is he playing?
Yeah, not much.
Boy, he'd be frustrated.
There's your pop culture meme from the weekend.
Pro boxer against internet, YouTube, famous guy.
This guy finally lose.
I didn't see what happened.
Yeah, he actually beat someone who was, you know, not 70 in a professional boxer,
and he broke his jaw in two spots and was toast.
That's how it ended right there, Jack.
Look at his face.
How you doing?
Get your gloves up.
Is it fun being famous?
Got your gloves up.
But he was famous before.
Why would he even just?
No, you know, I will give him credit because you're right.
It wasn't like he needed the money and that he wanted to get famous.
He has all those things already.
I think he really wants to be a pro boxer, prove that he can do it.
But it was not a good night for that.
He's stupid.
Might be that too.
Might be that as well.
Tonight's games will take a look.
Just four.
Blues have been rolling.
They're in Tampa.
Canucks have been rolling.
They're in Philly.
Wow.
Seattle and Anaheim.
on Seattle. Get your shit together.
They dropped 10 of 11 when they lost
to Calgary. They're probably lost
in so. I don't know. There is
Blue jackets have entered the bottom 10 too
and they're in L.A. That Seattle is
boring a team as I think of watched.
No identity. When San Jose
came to town, they were dog shirt.
Yeah. But you were like, well, there's some guys there
I'd like to watch. Yeah, exactly. Seattle?
There is no one on Seattle worth it.
That is the anonymous franchise.
They are the most irrelevant
an NHL team and they've already started the sales as Mason Marchment went.
Columbus.
Yeah.
We'll keep moving.
World Juniors.
We'll chat with Cammy and moments about this, but this is other line and up here as they
continue exhibition.
Top line is a Ginla, Misa Martone.
Second line, Hage, who's a real good center that the Habs drafted a couple of years ago.
Martin high pick this last year and Gavin McKenna.
Are they saying those was the color of the jerseys?
Yeah, because it's a practice.
this.
It's just wasted.
See, now you're going too far,
Hawk, like.
Zane Perak, right
side of the top pair, and
Cole Roshney moved from center to the wing
over the last week, playing
with Jet Lechenko, played some
time with the Flyers last year, and
Cole Bedouin.
I don't see his name. Interesting.
Okay. More on World Juniors in a moment.
Let's get to the football day.
Yesterday, Sunday Day football saw the
Patriots hold on against the Ravens.
Lamar left. They didn't hold on.
came back.
They came back.
The Ravens were up 2413 and then they couldn't stop them on the final two.
And then they fumbled when they go out the ballback with two minutes left.
What now?
Are you doing Baltimore?
Yeah, it was not good.
I was confusing.
The lions finished.
The lions had a chance to win late against the Steelers and screwed it all up multiple times.
Yeah, that was one of the craziest, like final minutes of a game I've watched in a long time.
And if that touchdown somehow it counted with no seconds on the clock, you'd have
the craziest two-point conversion ever and maybe one of the weirdest last second
plays in NFL history.
Boswell shanked it,
hit the upright.
And then it was just flag,
flag, flag, flag, flag, flag, all the way down the field.
That's good.
Pittsburgh got billed out by flags.
It was quite the ref show.
And Jack said it was rigged.
So clearly the league is in on the Steelers getting in.
I have to keep this winning record for Tomlin,
the 9 and 8 losing the first round.
They've got to keep that alive.
Right, Jack?
That's what you're saying when he said it was rigged.
Well, he got his winning season.
Uh, here is your Monday nighter.
Oh, I need a big night.
There's McCaffrey, and I think that is Jonathan Taylor,
who had an incredible start to the year.
Phil Rivers will be under center.
Brock Party looked good last week.
All right.
We'll see.
We'll revisit this game in our bet three six to five picks later.
And finally, a reminder, you got Thursday football three of them.
How do you like the triple header on Christmas?
If you had in the off season, show me the schedule,
I'd be like, this is unbelievable.
NFC East game,
probably, you know,
the Washington's will be in the mix of a playoff spot.
Dallas won't be dead yet.
Lions Vikings was the epic week 17 game last year,
wasn't it, Jack, or 18?
Yeah.
And they both had like 14 wins.
Who's going to win the division?
That's going to be a great game.
And oh my gosh,
like Broncos, they surprised last year.
Chiefs are always good.
None of these games actually amount of that much anymore.
Yeah, they kind of.
Like lions are toast.
Vikings are toast.
How are the lions toast?
Cowboys are toast.
Well, they're not toast.
but they're down to the single probability, single percentage.
Chiefs on their third string now.
And Denver.
They got stopped on.
I was telling you guys, Jacksonville.
Jacksonville looks legit.
All of a sudden, Lawrence is looking unreal.
They can play enough defense.
They can run the ball.
Crazy.
Anyway, we'll take it.
We got football on Christmas,
rat.
We'll take it.
Last couple for you.
We got some scraps for you.
We start in the national lacrosse league.
Not just a lacrosse fight.
A lacrosse.
goalie fight, right?
You'll notice a little bit different technique here.
Let's go to the tape.
Oh, Damiener taking his stuff off.
Why are you?
It's a splendor stuff.
You need that range of motion, right?
No, I think.
Oh, no suspenders here.
Let's do it.
Insanity.
Rochester, Philly.
Like, fighting in hockey's crazy.
This might be crazy.
This is crazy.
Because you've got running shoes and you're on carpet.
There's no, like, whoops, I slipped them down.
No.
Like these things go till they go.
This is basically slap fest.
Cool.
Now that guy's like, okay, I've had enough.
That's right.
This is our house.
Yeah.
I said, shit, I got punched in the face.
We'll give the nod to a young guy over a bald spot guy.
But what a tilt between Rochester and Philly.
And finally, we had the Regina police against the Regina firefighters.
Not unlike Dutton's on Saturday night.
Things got physical.
First responders, they're stepping in.
for their teammates.
My buddies.
Over a giant of firefighter.
Oh, jeez.
Standing on.
Everyone's like,
just amazing.
What a game.
Fallas.
Oh, boy.
I got rocked.
Bang.
See ya.
And tilt time.
Let's go.
Line spinter standing back.
A one in the case.
One there.
Next shot.
That's.
You got to keep throwing, man.
There you go.
That is your Pender Report for Village Honda,
our good friends in the Northwest Automol and online at VillageHonda.com.
You can check out the pre-owned inventory on the website or on the lot.
Over 90 units in stock and access to more than 500 in the dealer group.
They got something for you.
All makes, all models, all budgets.
Let's go.
We quickly transition to the Crystal Waters guest hotline.
as we, it's that time of year.
We need to get schooled up on one of our favorite hockey tournaments of the year.
It is the World Juniors.
Crystal Waters plumbing and heating.
Garage heater season.
Yes, it is.
I saw the neighbors had a HVAC vehicle outside of their house today.
When it happens this time of year, you notice it right away.
Get to work.
Make sure Crystal Waters is your first call.
Get them in there right quick.
They'll fix you up.
403-219, 4100 or Crystal Clear, Calgary.
Cammy kept you looking fresh and well-rested and well better than us on the Crystal Waters' guest hotline.
Cammy, how was your weekend? Did you survive Friday?
I'd say I thrived. I went home and I painted a whole room. Painted a whole room.
Although Sunday hit. And then there was like a patch of carpet by a window that was in the sun and I just kind of laid there like a lizard on a rock for a while.
That was nice. That was Jack's weekend too. You didn't return my call Saturday.
He was not texting me at all.
And then Sunday at about noon, he's like, all right, I'm alive.
What's up?
I was debating coming on and me like, how do you do crap bags?
But it didn't feel right.
Is that your second or third drinky show that you've partaken in?
Second one, I've survived.
And how do you explain this to other people in your life?
Because you have successful, professional people that you know, not just, you know, slabs like us.
It's more the questions you get back.
Why?
Yeah.
Really?
They did what?
How many?
They go for how long?
I was impressed.
That was a marathon this year.
Too long.
Too long.
Yeah, I think boom went about five and a half hours before a pissed.
Which is impressive.
Sorry, we both spoke at the same time.
Say that again, Cammy.
And it just shocked me how early and subtly you dipped out.
Rets the king of the smoke bomb.
He'll get out of there quick.
Me?
But I actually Vamused really early.
Yeah.
I only stayed for.
Six hours, Cammy.
That's nothing.
Childs play.
Highlights are low lights.
Just a real quick Friday recap for you.
Oh, gosh.
I really enjoyed listening to Adnan.
Definitely going to check his book out for sure.
Low lights.
Oh, gosh.
There's just so many.
It's hard to do.
Yeah, it really is.
The highlights are easy to pick out.
It's like one or two guests were good.
And the low lights is like anyone in the room was a low light.
It's just great.
I think like you just.
talk about the energy shift. There was a moment where I'm like, okay, okay, time for me to go work on the, on the couch over there. Yeah. To you fellas. Yeah, there was, I got to come back and clean up Friday night and it looked like, it looked like a frat house. Well, at least you contributed something. I think it looks like that most days.
No, Jack is vacuumed and all the 600 half-drank drinks have all been emptied into the sink and thrown in the garbage.
All right, let's talk about it for.
Kenny, you work for the Western Hockey League.
We love the work you're doing for them.
How excited are you for World Juniors?
And where are we at in this arc of this Canadian team being ready for games that matter?
It's going to be a pretty unbelievable tournament.
I think there's so many players getting ready to make their debut.
T. Jiginla is going to be playing likely his first and only world juniors.
He was probably going to make the team last year, but of course he had that hip surgery.
There's just so much coming up.
Obviously, a lot of pressure on the Canadians.
maybe that pressure is mounting a little more after dropping that 4-2 exhibition loss to Sweden.
Some not-great moments.
A couple of shorties, power play didn't look fantastic.
Of course, we had the own goal.
But, you know, that's what the tune-up games are for.
They have their last practice in Canada today before flying out to Minnesota.
They've got one more pre-tournament game against Denmark in Mancato on Tuesday.
And then time to go, facing Czechia, probably the best rivalry we've had come out of this tournament.
in the last couple of years,
like checks have knocked a mountain quarters
two years in a row.
Last time it was a guy playing up in Edmonton,
Adam Yeko, a St. Louis Blues prospect,
who scored with less than a minute left
and knock the Canadians out.
So they know that they're coming in with a lot to prove.
And there's even one player on the team,
Braden Coots, the Canucks prospect,
and Captain of the Thunderbird said,
it has been frustrating to watch as a fan.
So now he's got a chance to do something about it,
as they all do.
Do you like it being in Minnesota, right?
Because I know they move around.
It'll be highly, yeah.
I think it's a perfect place of the term.
Yep.
It'll be very, what's the word?
Not anticipated.
Attended.
Oh, yeah.
I think the fans are great.
Well attended.
State of hockey cam here, people, Jack?
Say that again?
Sorry?
I think it's the first time it's been there since 1982.
Wow.
Okay, so they'll be wound up.
How are we handicapping the field or is it always a bit of a fool's errand in this short
tournament with U-20s?
I mean, I think that's the beauty of the tournament.
It's kind of the last level where truly anything can and
will happen. Latvia took down Canada in an eight-round shootout last year.
How do you pick? There will always be the heavy favorite. Sweden looks pretty dangerous.
The U.S. will be trying to take a tough team. You've got actually Vern Fiddler's son is
trying to make the squad this year. He was one of the last cuts last season as one of the youngest guys
there and now Seattle Crack and defensive prospect for the oil kings as well, hopefully trying to
play on home soil and bring back a third straight gold medal for the states.
Do you have any, sir, go ahead, Red?
Well, I was going to ask, it's kind of, it's not off topic,
but there's, there was conversations I had over the weekend.
At the Flames game and Sunday at the rinks from fans saying,
how do you not invite this guy?
How is this going on the team?
How does the highest score not make it?
And I've said the Pickford kid, blah, but you could make two teams.
Totally.
Completely.
I'm glad you mentioned Bryce Pickford.
I was just looking it up a couple minutes ago.
He has scored in every single game for Medicine Hat, if not a multi-goal game.
In December, he had five straight game-winning goals.
That's a huge pick for the HAB.
Can't make it.
He's not there.
Leading the W.HL scoring as a defenseman at Christmas.
Jeez.
Thanks a time.
The guy's an animal.
You know what?
We talked to all these kids on the Tigers about him last year because he had goals in nine
straight games through the playoffs going into Memorial Cup.
It's like, what is it about this guy?
He's a freak.
He's the last person on the ice.
He'll just shoot.
and shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot and you can't be stopped.
But it is hard.
And like you think about it,
look at the NHL talent that's not going to be there.
No Ben Kindle,
no Matthew Schaefer,
according to Frank Sarvelli,
looks like we're not going to have a Sam Dickinson
or a Berkeley Caton.
So really they only have one more cut they have to make
and that's probably going to be a goalie.
The talent is unbelievable.
It's just a spoil of riches for fans,
but unfortunately doesn't necessarily translate to wins at this tournament.
People forget.
Macklin Celebrity is still eligible for this tournament.
Like he's that young.
Should we put in a call?
Yeah, maybe Mike Greer, you got his number.
Just get a couple weeks, want to borrow him.
Bring him back in great shape.
And two 17-year-old defensemen and Carson Carls and Keaton Verhoff.
How unbelievable is that?
Super young.
That's my buddy Jimmy play fair coaching that Carl's kid up.
You know, I talked to him about it.
And I think one of the things that really attracted Team Canada breast to Carson
is that, yeah, there is an offensive side to him.
But for his age, how defensively sound he is, it's massive.
And talking to Carson, he says, like, specifically, he does so much work with Jim Playfair.
And they've ironed out so many details.
And he's won a lot of trust up in Prince George.
And it's been paying off there.
They've been a powerhouse team for the last couple of years.
Yeah, Jimmy coached me right under the league.
So he can do some amazing stuff.
I thought you got Cowboyed out of the league.
I didn't know it was Jimmy.
Geez, taking stress.
It was my ability.
It was the damn lockout.
It was my ability.
What's the WHL representation looking like?
And this is sort of the first year where you're going to see NCAA players that had significant development in the dub.
It can be a bit of an awkward party, I suppose, for some.
Before you answer that, because you can answer both.
So there's that.
How has the, in your opinion, NCAA experiment gone?
Like, if you followed these?
guys. Sorry, I kind of giving you two questions. For sure, definitely, because like, I mean, especially
the guys who were drafted last year, you know, you're, you get to meet them and their families at all
these different events. Obviously, like, you keep in touch. You want to follow how these kids do because
you kind of see them grow up in a way. It's still early days. You'll see how it all shakes out the
next couple years, like how the pendulum is going to swing. And players have gone down there and found, like,
you know, varying degrees of success, which you would expect for anyone going to any new league. What's
I think maybe not talked about enough on the Western League side is just how many players from the U.S.
who have decided to come ply their trade north of the border, players who have been with the U.S.
and TDP before.
Look at J.P. Hurlbert, who is an A-rated prospect for the 2026 NHL draft, who is leading not just the WHL,
but the CHL and scoring up in Camloops, a goalie like Harrison Bediger, who's going to
compete at the Memorial Cup for Kelowna.
So it's been interesting for sure.
And I think it'll take more time to see how it all plays out.
But I think at the end of the day,
players having more options for them and their families is the best thing for everyone.
Yeah, I think, you know, you look at the history of the game and there's been, you know,
quarters of centuries where players didn't have a lot of rights.
So you like that kids have options.
You also don't want to leave team sander.
I will see as time passes, how they settle out.
But you make a great point, Cammy, like there wasn't the option to go to the CHL as an American
and then go to your college.
team, now you can do that.
So you're getting some really, really good 16s.
You might not have gotten your spread.
Of course, you're going to see a ton of them at the world juniors.
To your earlier point, Pender, like, think, you know,
are getting up close to over a dozen players who have developed or spent time in the
CHL who are going to be on Canada.
For the WHO, in particular, I think we have more than 10 who are going to be competing for
Chequia, a lot of really high-end finish players.
There's a Julius Mietnan, Netfront Menace.
That's one that I'll definitely be looking out for.
About four German kids got a Latvian goalie going.
So there's tons.
So you can't really say that you're cheering for one team.
It's very much team.
We just hope everybody has fun.
Okay.
Boxing day, the tournament starts where the games matter.
Obviously, it's pre-exhibition play right now.
It's the Czech Republic, or Czechie, excuse me.
Then Latvia, then Denmark and Finland.
Not a murderers row of a group.
Finland's usually good.
Checks have actually eliminated them two and a row.
row, but you've got the Americans and Swedes in the other group, which is probably they'll take
that right now.
What is the Kami Kepke game viewing experience for World Juniors?
Because you're probably doing some social media, but you probably also need some snacks.
You get the office.
You at home.
You get the popcorn.
How are you doing this?
I'm doing it from beautiful Creston, BC.
Oh, look at this.
Mom has changed the room because last year I was in her office and you said it looked like I was
in a dental office.
Like, hey, can't do that to Allison this year.
We'll go to the living room this time.
I actually have a lot of family who are over from Denmark this year.
So we'll hopefully be catching a couple of the games together.
Well, I enjoy the tournament.
Thank you for joining us.
We're sorry that you decided to come to the Friday thing.
I don't know why you say yes.
You can say no.
It's like, Brett says to me,
like you don't have to say yes to all these Christmas prayers.
I'm like, well, I feel obliged to.
But don't feel obliged you have to come do that again because the lows were low.
I mean, if Keogh is mixing up those dark and stormies again next year,
make your appearance for sure.
Thanks for joining you.
us enjoy the tournament cammy be well thanks guys have a great holiday all right there's cammy kepki from

My idiot brother thinks he's going to drop his dog off at my house,
but then I'm going to take the dog to the kennel.
Boomers, huh?
Yeah, that's a good idea.
Is that the nickname for the kennel?
It's not a bad move.
Don't mind it.
So that I'm free to go to the rink and watch hockey.
I like it.
Thank you to Crystal Waters.

Feel shame.
Pushed this.
Either way, Crystal Waters won't make fun of you
and we'll help you with your problem.
Give them a call, 403-219, 4,100,

They should charge you like,
but land of Shimon.
They should double the fee.
Yes.
Just for, it's an idiot tax.
It's called the he-ha fee.
He-ha-he-ha.
Jack, what do you know about Rett's World Junior
experiences in life?
Because you've worked here for a couple of years ago.
I don't think we've really ever gotten into it.
Oh, Jack, the stories.
Just go on and all.
So let's play a little trivia.
Did Rett play at the World Juniors, Jack?
Yes, I do know that.
Did Rett win a medal at the World Juniors?
God, I hope so, Rhett.
What color, correct, both correct so far.
What color medal did Rat win?
Silver.
I'm a winner, Jack.
You actually ducked.
Gold?
Hell yeah.
Yes.
And did Rhett also lose said gold medal for many years before a recovery?
Misplaced.
Yes.
We have this debate at my house.
Is something lost if we don't know where it is?
or is it just not found yet?
I could go through this right now.
I don't know where the medal is.
So is it lost?
Does it misplaced?
I have a rough idea probably where it's going to end up.
If it's not there,
I'd have a couple other thoughts as to where it might be.
You got like a top five.
It's going to be one of these five spots.
Unless.
Grandma's house, office.
Unless the kids took it to the rink and left disappointed.
Did you like instantly lose this or was it just something to happen over time?
Jack, I've just had so many, you know.
So many wins, so much hard work.
Juniors, you win the East Conference Championships.
You understand what about going to do with all this stuff?
Oh, Steverg.
The finals.
Jesus Christ.
Screw you, Dead Marsh.
That was not close.
That final.
They crushed it.
Dead March final was over.
Eight one in game two, hey?
Eight.
Yeah, that was real.
The Ocho.
Got snot bubbled.
Yeah.
I had Reginald Corbe
bragging about it.
Don't either.
Saturday night would still.
I'm talking my ear off.
Oh, we're just in Colorado for the 30.
So that was,
29, 30 years ago, 96?
I was dead.
And he's still talking about.
Jack was dead.
95, 96.
You were dead when I was playing for a Stanley?
Wow.
Yeah.
It's tough.
That sucks.
Best shape of his life, though.
Oh, that's a shape now.
Shilled.
96.
How many days until Christmas, Jack?
You're good at math.
Today's the 22nd.
Three.
Well, except that answer.
It's a little nervous there, wasn't there?
It is.
How's our Christmas shopping going, boys?
How are we doing?
Jack.
I'm ready to roll.
You good?
Yeah, I'm good.
My wife has so little faith in me that I've been shopped for.
To the point where I was like, Monday, can he cover me for a few hours?
I need to go do some Christmas shopping.
She's like, well, what for?
And I'm like, well, I don't know.
I got to write down and figure out who I already bought it all.
I'm like, oh.
And I sent you like the link to buy the thing for me.
I'm like, right.
Okay.
I guess I'm good.
Maybe your wife isn't like that.
That's brilliant, though.
That's the way to do it.
Yeah, I mean, you lose some of the romantic I've been thinking about you.
You lose that anyway.
You lose that anyway.
You lose that anyway.
Yeah.
And at least she gets what she wants this way.
You cannot screw up Christmas true as well, too.
Vena Nova.
We said it a lot.
We're going to say it.
one last time for Christmas.
Don't screw it up.
Go to Vina Nova.
What is Venova?
Well, lab created diamonds.
Why lab created?
Well, same crystal structure as real diamonds and a fraction of the cost.
We're talking 50, 60, 70% less expensive than earthmine diamonds.
Technology keeps getting better.
They get more efficient.
Massive savings.
They're in market mall.
Create a one-of-a-kind lab-grown creation.
The experts there can help you.
You're probably not in the custom territory.
three days for Christmas, but they got all kinds of great stuff there.
You can grab something off the rack and you will win Christmas.
I'm giving you the pender guarantee.
You'll still win.
You'll still win.
Diamonds are undefeated, right?
There's a song about diamonds, I think.
Yeah.
Lots, I bet.
Yeah, that probably is.
Yeah, I think about it.
Lots of songs about love.
Jack, you should get some diamonds.
Yeah, who you giving the diamonds to, John?
I said, sweet talking some people the other day.
Do a hell of a job there.
Is it not talking about it.
Not talking about it.
He does not want to go anywhere near that.
Not interested.
Diamonds for his mom or is that a little...
Yes.
He's got a company at Christmas dinner yesterday.
What do we talk about?
All right.
Okay.
Yeah.
Did you go over all the football?
No, we can go a little more.
You cut the Pender Report short?
Well, it was short to begin with and then we had camey one.
So we just powered...
I couldn't remember.
I'm confused them still.
Yeah.
Venanova.com to not ruin Christmas.
And the NFL, you want to expand.
on a little bit. Well, I don't want to expand on.
I want to see all the scores because my bills,
they won, but it was embarrassing
win. They did not cover
2320? We will revisit. They could have lost that damn
game. Football picks tomorrow.
And Jack, what do you thinking since we're going to be off
for Christmas? Do we have to call Dean
during our football picks? I think he should send
in a video because I think he'll find a way to like be in a hot tub or in a
snuggled up by the fire on the floor with your daughter.
We're going to make our picks on tomorrow.
You're going to do tomorrow?
It's awfully early.
It is early, but we could easily post.
I don't like coming in Christmas Day.
Almost comes in at all kinds of weird ways.
Guys, I was looking for a meeting at about 1145 PM, December 31st.
Everyone open?
Yeah, just come on, we'll meet.
Yeah.
Just to the office.
It won't take it.
What?
Snar's Eve.
I'm doing the meeting now.
Do you want to quickly walk through some of the games and the implications, Jack?
We can probably do that.
Are there implications in the NFL?
Well, okay.
So we have one thing I sent from.
Shefter to Jack, and that probably is the quickest, like, quick and dirty.
What do we know about who's in, who's out?
I want to make sure I did sentence Jack because I was accusing him.
Yeah.
So in the NFC, five of your seven spots are locked in.
Seattle, Chicago, Dean's Bears, right?
Dean's Bears.
That might have been finished of this other week, too.
Eagles, Rams, and Niners all through.
So five teams in the NFC are locked in.
A lot more work to be done in the AFC, but you could,
get some as soon as tonight, depending on how the Indianapolis
Colts do. It's just
the Broncos and Patriots who
have punched her ticket in the AFC. And if the
stupid Ravens had just
done the... I know!
Screw it us!
So when I ask me, you he cheering for, I'm like, I'm cheering for
Baltimore to win this game.
Like, why? I'm like, oh, because my producer's a big
Steelers guy. Oh, you don't like him? No, I love them, but I
just want to see the pain. I want the roller
coaster spike.
So the NFC, it's getting
late pretty early there. Green
Bay likely will also get in in the NFC.
That would make sense given that, you know, Detroit lost last night.
To win out and have some.
Detroit needs all kinds of help, which is not going to go well for them.
The other team in the NFC that's likely going to get in, you're probably, let's just make sure I don't screw this.
Carolina.
They're currently leading the division.
Carolina?
They beat Tampa.
They were both seven and seven.
So now they have a better record than that.
the Bucks and they've got to win over the Bucks.
So that's a huge one, but it's certainly one will make, one will miss is what it looks like.
So the Bucks could still win the NFC South.
That's the story in the NFC.
And yeah, it's Packers plus whoever wins the NFC South.
So it's going to happen there.
The AFC, a little bit different.
Jacksonville and Houston are still vying for the division title in the AFC South.
Houston's defense has been great.
And you talked about Jack.
like Jacksonville looks unreal right now.
Yes, they do.
They're rolling.
This is the best football Trevor Lawrence has played.
They've won six in a row.
Which isn't saying a lot, but he's been quite good.
He really has.
He's been like borderline.
Maybe we should get rid of this guy at times.
Yeah, yeah.
Why was this a franchise quarterback?
He was touted to be so good.
Now you're finally seeing it.
The other two teams we know that are probably in,
Bills and Chargers, both identical 11 and 4 records.
Neither look perfect, but both at 11 and 4.
You need a shitstorm.
to knock it in.
So that's kind of the story right now.
Ravens aren't dead.
They can catch Pittsburgh,
but they're not going to get a wild card with seven and eight.
They're dead.
And the Colts need a win and a small miracle to get in,
I think,
at this point at eight and six.
Yeah,
I think the Ravens are cooked.
They've got the Packers Saturday.
If they lose,
they're done.
Ravens does.
Yeah.
And then Pittsburgh plays the Browns.
All they have to do is win.
And then, of course,
if somehow you could get to week 18,
Ravens Steelers would be
winner in, loser out.
Which for entertainment value
perfect. And Jack, your team would win.
They already beat them once.
Ravens turned off. Let's just not get to that point.
I just want to see some backups play.
I really want to see a good meaningful game in Week 18, Jack.
I hate to do this to you. I'd love to see Ravens Steelers.
That's like New Year's Day.
Oh, perfect. So good. So good.
we could do our bets of the day now that we're talking football
we'll have to discuss whether we do football picks tomorrow
which is quite early in the week but we do have three games on Christmas
so yeah gotta get them in gotta get him in we'll run that by the boom cat
see if he wants to send us a video from the tropics or over the hell he is
his backyard not sure and then uh
yeah i think we get tomorrow makes sense then you know
yeah we'll recap him and we'll uh make our picks
well it doesn't matter it's not going to change
anything. What are you talking about? I'm two
and one again, I think. I'm rolling. You go two and one?
I've excited to count up
Booms picks because he had like 30. Yeah,
he had about a thousand picks. He's trying to get back to 500.
Good luck to you. Not sure how that went.
Bet365,
official partner of Barnburner.
Honestly, if you're
going to do this, if you're going to wager on a game,
there's no app quite like it. It is amazing.
The breadth of
sports, odds, fields
you can wager on is unbelievable.
It's never ordinary at bet 365.
we're talking more than just game props, player props, totals, money line, puck line, all kinds of stuff.
Futures, whatever your bet, never ordinary.
Make sure you download the app, get in the game, use that code nation must be 19 or older.
A couple of games tonight.
Canucks are red hot.
This is not an easy game.
It's in Philly.
So kick off the week in the NHL, but they've looked good and they got Demko back.
Don't know if Elias Pedersen will be ready to go or not, but they've,
Marco Rossi, Liam, Z. Buoyim have been real good.
And then I'm going to play the, I love you, Phil Rivers,
but there's no way you're not throwing a pick against the Niners today.
You get one late.
If you want to get really saucy, you can go Rivers two interceptions.
That jumps to like plus three or four hundred.
Canucks are plus money in Philly.
Flyers, I haven't been bad though.
Not a weaker sister there.
Those are my picks.
They don't need to be yours at Bet 365.
And Rhett is going to sneeze, kill his Mike.
I'm okay. I'm okay.
How do you fight off its knees?
I've never been able to do that.
Dude, I'm a battler.
He's a battler.
He's a battler.
I know a guy that tried to stifle.
Is it stifling a sneeze?
I understand what you're saying.
I ended up getting surgery.
Oh, God.
Hearnia?
Yeah.
Oh, whoops.
If I'm old.
Let's get to our super chats for the youth centers of Calgary.
49ers are colds.
Yeah, I can be interesting tonight.
Jeremy Barbigillo, 9212.
He's coming in with 49.
Mission Mechanic and the captain get a hatcher.
Backland should have got the empty net, not here we know.
Yeah, he was out there.
They were trying to get Backlton that hatcher.
And he did hit that post, the shift after his second goal.
Michael Backland has accepted some criticism from the show over the years.
He's been playing great of late.
And you keep joking about breaking up him and Coleman.
Don't.
I'm not joking about anything.
They have gone out.
played damn good.
So it's hard to.
Yeah, tough to sling rocks and arrows.
I know. Trust me, I have lots of fun taking cheap shots.
Right now.
On the ace or off or both?
Both.
Okay. It's just who you are.
Thank you, Jeremy, for the kids.
Working man's checking in.
Yes, working men. It was a great game.
I agree.
What a fun game against Vegas.
I love the nice added touch of switching up the goal song,
taking care of Christmas.
That was a beauty.
don't think they expected to play it as many times as they have,
but they've been a lot of taking care of Christmas.
Thank you, working man, five bucks for the kids.
Really thought we'd be getting a lot of fallout.
Here's him, here. Here's a man. Why 60? Well, the flame scored six.
He's 10 bucks a goal. Hanson Dan, a man of his word.
So are we good yet? Is Uncle Don right?
Are we still just the 10th best team in the West and had a bad first week?
Kind of feel like everyone's right there.
They're kind of good. They were off.
in October and Uncle Don maybe wasn't wrong.
Neither are we though.
How the message was portrayed?
The messaging was not.
The brain is still not 100% for Friday.
Yeah, I wonder why. That's weird.
I think.
Dan, I said this, I said to this to my coworkers because they're idiots.
I said, these guys aren't that bad, are they?
They're going to last place, team.
They're still close.
Yeah, they're like two percentage points.
of second.
I'm worried they're going to be much better than bottom five.
I have very mixed emotions.
We haven't talked about this.
They've got the oilers for the next two, Red.
Hey, good point by you, Ryan.
I don't know how to feel.
Good point by you.
10, 6 and 1 is not 10, 4 and 1 or 12.
4 and 1.
They win the next two.
And it's getting smarmy up there again.
The oilers are playing well.
We had one jack loaf in our studio here recently.
What an idiot.
Who did we bring in,
cheering for the oil.
Jay, start,
uh,
check ass.
Don't like it.
Don't like it.
Uh,
who's a goalie,
by the way.
Uh,
which guy that was on waivers?
Picker,
no,
and then they got three guys
that have been on waivers in the last few years.
Well,
that's championship caliber.
I don't see any problem with that.
Reclamation.
That's like most of the people.
Boys are rolling.
That's there just like everyone else in Edmonton.
They did get,
reclamation projects.
Ross Lovick back.
He was on the shelf for, I want to say, about a month there.
And you'll see a lot of the Oilers in Flamesland for the next week.
It's the only team they play.
They've got the 23rd and the 27th.
They're in Edmonton.
They're in infiltrating our city.
Then the mouth breathers and the zombies will be riding that bullet train down from
Edmonton that you coordinated, Rhett.
And they'll be coming into the dome.
Not many Edmonton at the Saddle Dome games left in the history of that building.
Let's make it a good one, folks.
Come on.
It'll be rowdy.
You know it.
Get involved.
Get involved.
Don't end up like that guy that got cuffed.
Yeah, you don't need to get handcuffed to have a good night at the flames game.
Yeah.
Avoid that.
It did remind that person.
Stand your ground.
I would have known them.
Yeah.
And you know, like there's things you can do and things that probably aren't good ideas.
Yeah, there's some things.
Don't do that.
If you even start a swinging motion again, not a good idea.
Never.
It's never gone well for anyone.
Nope.
Nope.
But in this distance, no.
Even if you have success with the swing, it's not going to go well.
It's still going to end up poorly.
It's not going to go well for you at all.
More Supers, Jack, or is that it?
We're tapped.
That's all.
Everyone's on home.
Thank you, everyone.
We appreciate it.
We worked so hard on Friday.
Let's get the hell out of here.
Let's get the hell out of here.
Starving, I can't eat.
Thank you to all our sponsors.
Thank you to you, the viewers.
Thank you for everyone that got involved in the holiday spirit shows.
A lot of work behind the scenes.
Jack's now opening a cleaning service.
We found he's quite proficient in cleaning.
messy studios.
My kid made about 80 bucks on recycling bins at the depot.
That was a good move for him.
He's jacked.
So just wins all around.
Lots of water.
See you tomorrow, buddies.
If I won.
Didn't that one water?
I didn't win.
We'll be back tomorrow.
It's flames game day against the Oilers.
Thanks for being with us today.
I'm Barberner.
