And Morgan Frost.
Frosty.
Frosty coming through 41 points.
We got a 20 goal score.
We got a 20 goal guy.
We got a three-way tie for the,
and this isn't exciting for some people.
I don't know what you want.
What the hell do you need?
Morgan Frost, 21 goals, Rhett.
21.
This guy's no good.
He can't score.
Been on a hitter since Osamloft.
Flames, 20 goal centerman.
Wow. Connie.
Don evidence.
Connie.
Cushing it. God.
Hey.
Get this Conroy.
Just good.
Solid good.
So good.
Making us look smart for having his back the whole time.
Yeah.
Thank you,
we have had us back.
We've had his back.
Sometimes you're going to poke him a little bit because he's going to tell him what to do.
It's a little fat and sassy.
He likes to sit around and do nothing.
But when do you get him going?
Look out.
Career high for Frosty had 19.
with the flyers in 22, 23.
He's interesting.
I was going to do it at the Pender Report,
but he may as well talk about it now because you're talking.
Sorry, Ryan.
I apologize.
He jumped off.
19 was the career high prior.
Correct. Yeah.
Keep going.
Oh, no, just 46 points to the career high for points.
He's five away from that.
Maybe.
But, um,
what's good?
You've been a little.
Eh.
Well, it comes to him.
I think if he was locked in for the next three or four years,
he wouldn't worry, but you suddenly have a decision to make on Morgan Frost.
Perfect.
He's 28 next year, turns 29 July 2nd.
That's when a new contract.
He's 26.
So he'll turn on July 2nd.
He's got this year, next year, free agency.
Okay.
I just let her hear you going from 26 to 29 next year.
Sorry.
He's a summer of 27 UFA.
His birthday is July 2.
I might have been off by ear.
He's either 28 to 29.
I'm confused.
But either way, he was born, anyway.
I looked him up this morning.
Is it not July 2?
He's born in May.
That would be more sense.
May 14th.
He's 28 next year.
May the 4th?
May the 4th be with here, Ryan?
On his birthday.
We really should have saved this for the Pinder report.
It's my fault.
I'm sorry, Ryan.
Don't get caught up in the minutia.
The question is, what do you do with Morgan Trump?
I like the fact that you can make that decision because he's going to be motivated to play.
And so it's a not dissimilar spot to one they're in with like Coleman next.
year except that he's 28 and he's going to be saying,
this is my chance to get paid.
What are you buying and how much is it cost?
And where do you say no?
It's going to be really interesting because there aren't a lot of centers and you have
none ready.
Is that different?
Two things.
Coleman's ass is getting traded.
He's older and you know he's a UFA.
But all of a sudden with this guy, it was not as old as Coleman.
He is a center.
But he is going to ask for a lot of money given that he is a center.
Yeah, but you can ask, go perfect.
Yeah.
It's the same as Rassman.
I need 15 million a year.
Well, you ain't getting it here, bud.
Yeah.
So get the,
because I've liked the fit.
You love the skills when you're watching,
like, man, he skates, he's got great hands.
And then you're like, where are the points?
And now they're finally starting to come after Cadreys got moved.
He's got 12 points in 15 games, eight of those goals.
All right.
So a little more of the offensive opportunity in the Nazim center spot, so to speak.
All right.
Go get it, kid.
Like you're flirting with a career year here.
It's a career high for goals.
You said five back up for,
points.
These are the conversations you have
with any player though, right?
When they're coming in this.
Sure.
It's not,
but how many UFAs do they have for next year?
It's not many.
And so those are the guys that it becomes hot burner issues as soon as we get into.
So next year's year you've got to decide if you're keeping them or
And if you are going to extend them,
do you do it on July 1?
This year?
That's when he's eligible for an extension.
No.
And so what kind of a contract does he want?
Oh, I'd love him on a short term mid money.
Right.
But he's in his agent.
are they going, okay, I'm coming off an almost career year here.
I want the bag.
Like, I want six years.
I want what it.
Like, they can ask for the moon.
It's a year up.
26, 27.
So there'll be 28 when he's a free agent, is what you're saying.
Yes.
You will be signing a 28 year old to a blank year, blank million a dollar deal.
I think it's, this is perfect.
He's making 4.3.3.4.3.3.
Yeah.
You can play the pests out of him.
He's producing.
Yeah.
And you can decide at.
He's only 28.
He feels to me like a guy that could stick around.
Yep.
He's liked it here.
He's fit in.
If you told me you could get him for $5 million a year for like four years,
I'd be like sign it right now.
Well,
yeah.
It's just that centers are,
it's like,
no,
I don't know.
He's making 437 now.
Right.
Yeah.
And again,
that's based off his production on his career years in Philly,
where he's not,
he's not a way better player.
And I was kind of the same thing.
Oh,
you're not getting it for five,
is what I'm saying.
Probably not.
So what I'm asking,
is if you're the agent and you're looking at a 28 year old saying this is our best
best chance ever as a full free agent and playing well to get a long-term deal what are you asking
for are you have to like he'll know he has to play next year why not because i think he's a
three c on a good team well what's a three c in two years down i don't know yeah if the cap's 100
can get 15 to 20 goals that's a seven million dollar guy is it not at least
I don't know.
Yeah.
I think we aren't in that space.
It's a weird, that's why I bring it up.
Especially a set or it might be,
and so maybe a bargain.
What we're seeing is this the best of Morgan Frost,
or is Matt Biggred and the best player on this team?
And that's who's been stable to since Cadre left.
Because I like Frost, but he's not,
like he's got 50.0 times in his career.
If you're a contender, he's your third line center.
Is he good third line center?
I think he's fine.
He's good defensively and there's enough offense.
I think he's,
I think he's a little better than you give him credit for.
I think that again, we're talking about Conroy.
If he's your 2C, you're in trouble.
Well, but like when you, moving forward, building a contender.
So how much money do you allot that three C?
Because I think he would be a good three C in a contender.
If you're trying to win a cup and he's your three C,
how much dough can you allocate to that given that you're going to have two better?
But there's third from,
the third from the bottom.
Right.
But can you look at it and say a contender, he would be a third line center for us.
he's a second line center.
Well, we, we,
you're paying him from three to eight years from now.
You should have it be in your window to win something.
But you need,
you need players.
You need centermen.
Yep.
There's a cost in that.
And you can pay him or you can pay somebody else.
And you have four first rounders between now and his new contract.
Yeah.
I think that that's the more important.
I think this is a silly conversation in a way because a year,
you don't sign him July 1st.
No.
And it'll be clear by midseason.
And you, yeah,
you're either going to look at a guy
that's trending towards 50 plus
and even if he is, you're going to have to go
what's my cupboard? What's in my cupboard?
Yeah, where's Rish?
And what's the return?
Have I drafted the center?
Yeah.
Like if he's having a hell of a year
and you can recoup some big pieces,
love you.
It's a great point.
Adios, munchos.
Think about what centers got at the deadline this year.
Yes.
Like Nick Waugh.
He's going to play fourth line center for the abs.
and they give up a first and a fifth.
Braden Shen, he's on the 18th T-box of his career.
He's not the player he was.
Center, though, and he's not bad.
First and a third and a prospect.
Whatever it was, yeah.
Like, if someone offered you a first plus for Frost,
I think you have to do it.
But then that's, and next year,
I don't believe, who knows,
Husk is an amazing coach,
but I don't think this team is pushing for a playoff spot next year.
No, no.
And you also, like,
I would start weighing him against Ryan's
Strom. He's older, but not by that much. And he's had more 40-point seasons than Frost, if I'm guessing.
Strom's six years older. Okay. Like, Strom's 32. Frost is 26. Fair. Yeah. Right. So I guess what I'm saying
is if you're going to commit to Frost, you probably have him for the next six to eight years,
given that he's got next year and he's going to want some term on a deal, right? If you were going to sign Ryan Strom,
you might get him for two years and then the Reschneys and these other centers that you're going to draft in the next two years.
Do they need a placeholder or is part of the next winning group of the flames?
That's kind of the question.
That is the question.
And it could be both.
There isn't a right and a wrong.
And it probably depends on what you pull out of the draft.
If they've got six picks in the first two rounds and they draft four centers,
because they're not all going to pan out, but you are hoping if you have, you know,
let's say the Vegas pick is pick 18 or 17 and your own is a top five pick.
But if you might have the replacement for Frost within a year of his departure
And he's not going to sign a short-term deal.
He's just not, if you're the agent, you're going to get run over and get no more clients.
If you can't cash in on 20-8- Oh, that's up to the frost.
Sure, sure.
But he'll be advised to this is your best chance to cash you.
Yeah, yeah.
But that's up to Frost at the end of it.
Yeah, and I'm not trying to rail and play because he's been very good.
It is the best 15 games he's played as a flame.
We've just watched the last 15.
It's the best he's looked.
Yeah, I will move on, but I think that you have to employ middle of the roster players.
You want to, oh, can this player be a number one this or that?
Like Kevin Ball, was he signed because they feel like he could be a number one?
No.
No, he can be a middle pair guy.
In a pinch, we can slide him up a little bit.
I see Frost similarly.
He's a middle of the lineup guy, valuable to have, wins faceoffs, good guy.
like there's there's value just because he's not a bonafide number one doesn't mean
hence there's value next year yeah he's a year away decision-wise
