Starting point is 00:00:13 Oh, hey, buddies. Welcome to the show. A beautiful Thursday in the middle of June, July, which feels like June, which felt like April, which was probably nicer than June or July to this point. It is raining. You know what? Cats and dogs. This is a Vancouver winter day, Dean.
Starting point is 00:00:35 That's what we're experiencing here on one of the longest 30 days of the year in Calgary. Crazy. Crazy. Although for some, like yourself, kind of nice to kind of just bring the volume down after a big stampede 10 days or whatever it was for you. Yeah, Stampede was good. It wasn't too crazy. He had a couple of bangers in there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:56 But just spent the last week or so decompressing. And I'm ready to do stupid things again. As you do. Welcome to the show. It's Barnburn. It's boom. It's Pinder. A presentation of Bet365.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Whatever your bet is, it's never ordinary. A bet three, six, five. Oh, get the app. on your phone be 19 or older and please bet responsibly and you know why not we'll see how the show goes we've got the super chat going today if you're watching live which don't know why you would uh oh geez put some dough into the old uh live chat we'll put your car on the show you rather work hard at your cubicle and not watch the show what the hell you talking about we're here with you share your day with us. We're here. Yeah, we're here. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:01:44 Happy to be here. Really look at us. Sink our teeth into some of the hot sporting topics of the day. Ah, so much going on. Yeah. Yeah. This is literally, um, Death Valley of sports talk. Yeah. When baseball is on their break. All the hockey news is done. The SBs, which is an American institution where last night it means nothing to Canadians. Um, I, There's nothing. But yet here we are. Now, just talking about Stampede. How were the Chucks?
Starting point is 00:02:23 Because I saw that you just watching on social media, I saw you got to the Chuck Wagons. No. Are you sure? Because I was sure I saw something. You were back in the stables where you go, we're back into the barns where they have done that years past. I know Ray Crotto, our boy, we'd go see him in a case.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Not this year. I did not get to see the Chucks. Well, I saw this video. It was you just kind of, putting content out on social media. And I just assumed that that was back in the barns. You're having a little meat and greet, some little bite to eat, some snacks back in,
Starting point is 00:02:57 I was really hungry. I'm sorry. Back in the barns. Yeah. Let's see what we can do here. Yes, a little. I thought maybe the sun had bleached it a little bit.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Do you side by side here or what have we got? Yeah. Yeah, it's, you know, because I know you do love it. Yeah. Kind of similar. Ah, good stuff. It's time for a haircut, honey.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Let's go. I get a haircut. Come on. That's dangerous for, for honey, because then you come home with a mullet. I have been threatening that. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:03:33 you're right. I should tighten up that munt. No. Yeah. We'll get into an opening statements of some sort for McLeoddlaude law today. McLeod-dashlaw.com. They are based in Calgary.
Starting point is 00:03:43 They care about Calgary. It's their Calgary roots. Yeah. And they are here for you. When you contact McLeod Law, it's not someone in some other city down, you know, provinces away. Bonjour. Yeah. They're just bloc, just literal blocks away, chances are from where you are and ready to help and are the very best in the business.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Whatever your challenge is, business or personal, they are in it with you, but cloud dashlaw.com. Man, yoni Yermot. Hardly knew you. JJ. saw that uh yeah jean jac that would be a great nickname for him double j the y sounding yeah yeah and the j j j j j's how we're doing yeah yeah what's that what's all that about i look i i don't know like he was in east coast leager last year he probably wants go back and play in europe no hey you know what fuck that guy yeah it's right now the flames probably you you lose that deal
Starting point is 00:04:46 If you're not doing what we're talking. One of the pieces in the big, well, Elias Lindholm trade to Vancouver. It's like, yeah, you've got to pick it up. But man, Yoni Yermot, don't know a lot about this guy, but high hopes. And contract just terminated. See you.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Shit. There's still some nice pieces there, you know. You got your Matvee Griddens and you got your Restevich. I guess, yeah. I mean, Morgan Frost, who plays center and isn't 35. and there's all kinds of spinoffs from that trade. So I'm having Mirmos lifting the cup in Florida next year, that's all I'm saying, because you know what happens?
Starting point is 00:05:24 You leave Calgary and then the streets are paved with gold. JJ might be bailing hay in some farm in Finland. I don't know. I just may. I'm not sure about lifting the cup in the NHL. That's your flames news. That's it. That's it.
Starting point is 00:05:49 That's all. Okay. See him. buddy's. See you, buddies. Fender report. Pender report.
Starting point is 00:05:57 I did stumble across something today that was peak death off season, like just nothing happening. I'm like, oh, we're at this point of it. Okay. Good. Because pull back the curtain. We've been pre-recording a lot of long form, great chats with interesting people. And we're going to start to need to use those because nothing's right.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Yeah, it feels like today maybe we could have rolled one out. Yeah, I think maybe as soon as, next week we should. Yeah, probably next week you can start to expect. Maybe get the band back together on Tuesday and then Thursday throw to a, I'm away next week. Good. Yeah, I'll be away the two and a half weeks after that.
Starting point is 00:06:38 So time to spin these things out. Yeah, time to roll them on out. To roll them on out. What has been happening? The schedule came out. Yep. For the old national hockey league. not quite as big as the NFL schedule release, I noticed.
Starting point is 00:06:55 They're trying. The Flames did do a little Longberg Rambo. Yeah, saw that. Lombo Rambo. I like that you're doing it. Tell me about Rambo. I have not seen Rambo. Do you know who's in it?
Starting point is 00:07:09 No. Do you know what it is? It's a movie. About? Rambo. Well, who's Rambo? I don't know. It's on the list, I guess.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Oh, yeah. Yeah. There you go, yeah, on Jacks. Well, can, so I need to get caught up because I've missed a bit here. Last I checked in, he was like loving heat. Yep. And then I pushed him to watch Casino. And I think he was going to do some Godfathers as well. Where are we at now?
Starting point is 00:07:38 And what remains? I'm starting the Godfather now. Okay. I watched Carlito's Way, casino, heat, and Scarface. Have you watched Goodfellas? No. do that. I watch that first.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Godfather, because it's, if you're going to, it's, it's a trilogy, right? There's a number of them. They can be long. They are,
Starting point is 00:08:00 they're obviously, they're classics for sure, but you can, you can take a couple hours. Okay. And you've got, and I think Goodfellows is iconic. You need to see it.
Starting point is 00:08:10 Could I submit Donnie Brasco for review? Dean, do you remember that one? Yeah, Donnie Brasco for sure is it. Go to, get that Bertram. Uh,
Starting point is 00:08:20 get the birch. Like that would fit into the genre where he's doing here. Have you seen the usual suspects? I submitted that as well. That was submitted. That's a deadly one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:34 Have you seen Silence of the Lambs? Oh, no, I haven't. Okay, write these down. Yeah, these. Ryan are you writing these for me. These are all kind of classics for sure. Oh, sounds of the lambs is spooky. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Sneaky. Sneaky, sneaky. So heat, casino, done, done. Carlito's Way done. Godfather coming up after Goodfellas. Donnie Brasco somewhere in there. Usual suspect, silence of the lambs. Oh, there's lots.
Starting point is 00:09:07 I mean, there's plenty out there, you know? Yeah, it was a good start though, right? Lots out there. He's getting into him, I'm telling you. I thought he'd be out being an idiot during Stampede. He just said his stay at home film fest. Well, I kind of did too. It kind of disappointed.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Yeah, sorry, guys. I got him out the first, the sneaky Pete night, and then I think he had one sneaky little banger in there at the end. What's going on, Jack? Yeah, what is going on? Oh, that's fun. I have my fun. You got something?
Starting point is 00:09:36 Did someone tell us? You hiding something? No, I'm not hiding anything. We talked about it the other night. Had a great night at Nashville North. Did you tell them how you tried to forge a ticket? No. Maybe gloss over that part.
Starting point is 00:09:53 What's this about? I don't know. Forging a ticket. I think you can go to jail for something like this, Steve. So maybe we'll just be in hypothetical. Not that you'd ever do that. No, hypothetically, there was this concert that I didn't have a ticket to,
Starting point is 00:10:13 but other people had tickets to. You'd be a little more hypothetical than saying I, like any person. Yeah, if any. some person wanted to. So there was some AI involved. The front door didn't buy it. We're done.
Starting point is 00:10:28 This is not going to end well. Oh. He did, well, someone may or may not have used the name Rett Warner and thought that might have helped him as well. Oh, that's the worst. Yeah. You mean the guy that was peeing in the plants? He's also, he also can't come in here.
Starting point is 00:10:45 So you don't look like him. We know him. Bad call there. It's already here. Yeah. Well, Pinder report. It's right?
Starting point is 00:11:02 I mean, it won't take long. Now, you went to Windermere. Yep. You sent me a text and said, you good for what's your week looking like Tuesday, Thursday, Thursday? Thursday. I'm like, yeah, I'll be good.
Starting point is 00:11:16 And then you responded with, yeah, awesome. I've got a good setup here. I'll be ready to roll. Yeah, yeah, I'll be good to go. And then I was not good to go. And then. This is convoluted, but I can't explain. Well, you didn't have the right gear?
Starting point is 00:11:31 So I was not planning on staying up in Windermere. I was planning on coming back at the end of the weekend. Yeah. My grandparents were headed to Northern Saskatchewan, where there's raging wildfires, and they got turned around literally, got a call saying, you know, the town sites on evacuation notice don't come. And they turned around and zipped up to Windermere.
Starting point is 00:11:53 So I was like, oh, shoot. like I could do the shows from up here and then Gigi and grandpa could watch the kids. This is great. Gotcha. Everything just nails. And I've got a broadcast kit up there, which is unreal. My wife came back to the city to work and I was then realized that all the gear I have is set up for her computer. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Which does not work for mine. So I was going to have to go find a USB dongle. My power cord was left in contact. I was not prepared to broadcast remotely, although I was prepared. pretty sure I could pivot and do it. So I literally left the beach last night at four, went for dinner with my lovely wife. Oh, what? And then we're going to head right back up there after her workday today. Oh, that's nice. So just to dip back into the city, get some work done. I've got another top secret recording with, I'm not sure why we're saying the top secret.
Starting point is 00:12:46 It's not like it's going to be, oh, well, because I didn't know what was coming. Now I'm more inclined to listen. Yeah, it's, I don't know, show business. Again, spoiler alert. Happy belated birthday to maybe upcoming guest Jay Rose Hill from Olds, Alberta. Really? Yesterday, Jason Rose Hill, the third of Olds, Alberta, 40th birthday. Wow, 40. 40 years old.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Okay. I was wondering why you go down the birthday train, but that's a big one. I've got to send him a note. Yeah. he's doing love and life everything's good he did hurt himself a wakeboarding which starts to happen oh dear it's as though uh father time just knows wakeboarding i could see getting hurt wake surfing that would be yeah surfing's much more yeah it's kind of like pickleball yeah boarding is at a slower pace much easier to kind of wrap your head around but yeah he's uh he's a good boy it's a little j rose hill
Starting point is 00:13:50 send him a note here you old bastard okay the show so you got to hang out with you on his birthday yeah i guess so that's awesome he always wanted yeah hell of a time hell of a good time we had for sure stay tuned top secret something it's not a secret they're coming to a barn burner youtube near you yeah that's right that's right uh during the course of the winter when we uh you know we were doing shows and stuff we get guys like uh jama mclennan and darren draker and all that They join us on the Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating. Insider Hotline.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Oh, I've got that. I could probably say, uh, it's going to take too long. I got an update from Dregs. Oh, I need the update. Yeah, okay. Crystal waters plumbing and heating. Crystal clear choice for home comfort. You may not, again, here we are talking about how the weather hasn't been.
Starting point is 00:14:49 Still 10% off a new air conditioner. Receive one year of free preventative maintenance, just whatever it is going on because I've been there. You go downstairs. What is that noise? It's the hot water tank. Something's going hot tub. Who do you,
Starting point is 00:15:01 I don't know who do you start Googling. What are you doing? No, Crystal Waters. First thing to go through your head. It's all you need. Crystal waters and show on. Yellow pages.
Starting point is 00:15:10 Yeah, you don't need to go. Just call Crystal water. Let your fingers do the walking. Is that what that used to be? Jack, tell me about the yellow pages. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:15:17 you know, the yellow pages are, Jack. Is it like some ad thing? Kind of. You know what the white pages were, though? The newspaper? No.
Starting point is 00:15:30 There was literally a time on planet Earth not long ago where there was a book like this thick with the thinest pages ever. And you could look up someone's last name and their phone number for the whole city of Calgary. The phone book was in there. Yeah. The white pages were the residential phone numbers. And the yellows were the commercial businesses. I remember being so upset when cell phones started being a thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:55 Now how do I know everyone's cell phone number? how am I gonna that's what we need to do break that we'll get a book and put cell phone numbers in it that's the million dollar idea never did follow through it probably should yeah i think you just save the number of the yeah or you could just put it in your your own phone you stupid kind of deal um with that in mind i said i just said something in uh jack so dregs update uh i'm getting the dregs update but it's something else i was thinking again you talked about but workshopping and kind of testing things out in the summer. I do like how young Jack is,
Starting point is 00:16:35 comparative to certainly to me, also to you, less so. But I do enjoy, well, me, we kind of talked about it there. The, what's Rambo or what are the, what are the yellow pages? Jack, can you walk me through? based on the logo what are these bands now some are maybe more of the 70s, 80s, some go into the 90s,
Starting point is 00:17:03 but what were we looking at here? Oh, boy. The second one's poison. The second one is poison. That is some recent. You're benefiting off of big time. Kiss. Kiss.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Yes. Yeah, that's all I got. Come on now. Look at the bottom left. You can figure that out. Guns and roses. Very good. The bottom middle is also not hard.
Starting point is 00:17:38 What is that? Right beside the guns and roses. What is that? What is it? Oh, the heart. I have no idea. It is heart. Correct, Jack.
Starting point is 00:17:52 Heart. The band is called heart. That's right. Heart. I can't see it too well on my screen, I'm assuming bottom right is Boston, not Toronto. Well, I'm thinking, I think it's Chicago. Oh, Chicago for sure, that makes more sense.
Starting point is 00:18:05 I'm trying to recognize the skyline. That does make more sense. Now, just up from Chicago, it's kind of hard. That is an ear. You can see on, so there's some sort of a, so there's an ear or something, and then a cat of some sort, just so you can kind of make that. Then there's a rodent. There's some, is that rat?
Starting point is 00:18:29 That is rat. Thought so. Mm-hmm. Scorpions. The scorpions. Europe. Europe. Top right would be Iron Maiden.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Hmm. Oh, geez. What's the top left? Top left is Cinderella. Gypsy Road is a banger, Jack. Put that out of your list. Jesse Road. Trying to figure out this sounds like cat one.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Your, your Puma. What do we? It's deaf leopard. Oh, amazing. Yeah. Damn it. I mean, a little unfair at the top round.
Starting point is 00:19:09 What the, what am I looking at? Oh, I had to do some cheating. I didn't, again, geography. Needed help with the Chicago. The Europe,
Starting point is 00:19:17 I guess, oh, there's a boot there. Yeah, all right, fair enough. It's a little blurry. But,
Starting point is 00:19:23 yeah, some wasp and rat, scorpions. Yeah, I see, they don't name bands like that anymore. Well, I took all the good names.
Starting point is 00:19:31 There's nothing left to name. Yeah, there's not left. He only got bad names left. Okay, the one in the middle. It's a heart? I don't know what that is. That's right. It's hard.
Starting point is 00:19:41 What's the ground dog day animal? Uh, right. There you know. So we can probably find, uh, little things. I forget what the hell it was the other day. I was like, yeah, I got to ask Jack with that, uh, what that'll be. So we can have some like Jack trivia. We'll come up with a name.
Starting point is 00:19:58 And then on slow days. Not that there are because there's always lots of good stuff to talk about. So much happening. Yeah. Lots of good content out there to get into. Then we can kind of dig into some of that stuff. We kind of dig into it. I do have the Dregor update.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Okay, good. Yeah. Because he, of course, last check was trekking West. Hang on. Before you show that one, Jack, I'm going to, I just remember it. I've got to put another one up here because we spoke to Dregs, whatever it was two weeks ago. He had just gone out and purchased a big thing of foam. I think it was some sort of,
Starting point is 00:20:32 phone, some sort of phone. Phones. Oh yeah, were you not there on that Friday show or whenever we, I guess Thursday we talked to drink. Anyway, he got some big chunk of foam for tiny, his great Dane to lay across the backseat of the pickup truck
Starting point is 00:20:49 as he was ready for his journey from southern Ontario out to the eastern edges of Manitoba where he has a, it is a hike. You do it over a couple days. You know, you enjoy yourself. as much as you can, I guess. But you'd rather do it with a dog than kids.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Oh, yeah, yeah, for sure. Dogs pee less. They don't make as much noise. That's right. Not screaming out yet to change the music. Dogs are great. Dogs are great. Dogs are the best.
Starting point is 00:21:18 So I did send a message because, again, like you say, this is a tough one. Dreg's, how are we doing? How's tiny? Is he enjoying the foam? and tidy was having a great time dogs love a good car ride careful with that one though you don't because
Starting point is 00:21:37 Tony probably doesn't know it's going to be three days it's a three day three day banger we also heard that he had picked up a new blackstone griddle there is cabin he already had the the barbecue or the range or whatever else so he was getting set for for a big summer of that so here's the
Starting point is 00:21:56 tiny update from the pickup truck. This is a couple days. Oh, my goodness. What a good looking pooch. He's a good boy. Yes. It's a lot of dog.
Starting point is 00:22:08 It's a lot of dog. Yeah, that's like a horse, that size of dog. I do love dogs, though. Yeah, we know, Dean. We know. He's a good boy. Do we need a show dog? Get a dog for the show.
Starting point is 00:22:23 I was, you know, he's here somewhere. I don't know. What did drag say this up? state is. Fella, first run with the Blackstone, Roblin Co-op's steak tips and burgers along for the maiden voyage. So of course, the Roblin Co-op, that's my hometown. So here's, here's Greg's. Got it going. How happy is he? He's ecstatic. So now walk me through the, the advantages of this Blackstone quote unquote versus a barbecue. You're going to be able to fry more rather than
Starting point is 00:23:06 well I think I don't know yeah it's different tool I guess it's a different tool a lot of people prefer like your smash burgers when you kind of press them down you're not doing that on a grill there's no flame up right you're not going to you can still burn shit for sure uh but you're going to be able to do stuff like just saute vegetables and you can do bacon and you can do pancakes breakfast hash browns
Starting point is 00:23:31 so and then you can still you can you can you can seriously steaks or pork chops or whatever whatever you want to do on there so yeah i'm i'm intrigued got our attention dregs late to the party for sure because i think everybody has one by this point but still happy for dregs got his dog got his blackstone griddle he's gonna have a great setup out there i'm guessing too oh yeah he's got a good little spot looking out over the lake she's a bewed clark love it she's a beaute so let's your drag her update Why are we doing a show today? Yeah, probably did shows at all.
Starting point is 00:24:13 Did we talk to Jack about movies yet? Yeah, we just did the movies. Did we lead us way, Donny Brascoe sounds of the lambs. Right. What else is going on? There's got to be something going on. You got your stamps at. They're hauling ass right now.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Shit, yeah. Big win. And you know what? When life, what is it, lemons, you make lemonade, you got to be resilient. You got to be able to pivot and swerve. Fires, smoke, game, delayed. You're the road team. Oh, man, another night in the hotel.
Starting point is 00:24:43 What are we going to do? You're going to get some sleep. You're going to come back. You're going to give it to the previously unbeaten riders. Four and one tied for tops in the West. Legit. Let's ride. Their only loss was in that torrential rain downpour at home on the most miserable day of the year in the city by a mile.
Starting point is 00:25:02 Like, that's their only blemish. And we're talking about a team that has an incredible amount of turnover. I think there's like, what, one returnee on defense? Like, it's incredible what they've done. they've come together in a hurry. They beat Winnipeg in the Stampede Bowl. It's back to, well, it's in Winnipeg, the return match. Bombers has not played since.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Yeah, they'll be ready. They'll be ready. They'll be ready. That one goes tomorrow. I think it's six, six o'clock mountain, six 30 mountain time. But let's go stamps. The same. And Alford's a player too.
Starting point is 00:25:34 Jesus. He's mahous. Ooh, the moose, they're calling him. A couple TDs last week. He had three over five quarters at one point because he had one in the stampede bowl and then he had two against the Durs. Take it Durs. Shit, yeah. Love it.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Our boy, Corey Mace, I don't if he saw his press conference. Yeah. The thing with the CFL, everybody's a good guy for the most part. Guys, how don't you love Mace? Mace is a great guy. He's a great thing. Mace is awesome. And I love
Starting point is 00:26:04 them. And here's the thing. A lot of coaches would be in like PR mode where it's like, no, no, there was some good things and we'll go to school. And he was asked about to the stamps flavor. There's a belt to ass. You're like, oh, that's unbelievable. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:21 He's such a gem. God, I love him. Yeah, he's a good boy. He's a good boy. We should try and get him on. I think it's a great idea. Let's see when their biweek is. Let's try to get it down.
Starting point is 00:26:33 You know what you can do on that little bontan on that? Oh, yeah. Hell yeah. Sausages on there. It'd be unbelievable. Exactly. Oh, there's some people that they would prefer the griddle to, uh, the thing is,
Starting point is 00:26:50 you got to clean, you got to take care of it. Got to take it's got a bit of a nonstick or the cast iron. You can't just cook and then leave and then, oh, you know, it's just, just leave it. Here was the, uh, here's, this is your bontan meat market slash Darren Dregor, griddle upkeep tip okay clean up can be a bit of a chore says drigger nothing crazy good scrape bit of water while hot more scraping then a wipe and a thin layer of avocado oil oh yeah spray that takes a few minutes but important it's kind of like when you go to japanese village you know when they do the thing and then they put some water on there and give it a good scrape yeah yeah after they do the
Starting point is 00:27:38 I like, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, pink, pink, pink, pink, tink. I like that onion volcano. That's a, that's the way. Kids love them. Yeah. Yeah. They got the ketchup bottle. Spoiler alert.
Starting point is 00:27:51 I've said too much. Just be ready for the ketchup bottle. Sorry. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You could do that on your, on your blackstone. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:59 At least once. And then, you know, build the cabin after you burn it down, rebuild. And then don't do it again. Bontan meat market. If it's a day like today, maybe you're cooking indoors. Maybe you're still going outside. Maybe you've got a little kind of a cover over your, your outdoor grill, your cooking area.
Starting point is 00:28:16 You're not going to be deterred. Bontan meat. It's a bontan summer. Get the best of the best. Life is too short. And the thing is now to spend good money on bad food. Can't do it. Don't do it.
Starting point is 00:28:29 AAA Alberta beef locally raised, fresh pork, free range chicken. Those chicken are so happy. You know, until they, you know, We don't talk about that. Make you happy, though. Yeah. 20 varieties of in-store made salads, desserts, meat pies,
Starting point is 00:28:46 24 consecutive years. They are Calgary and Southern Alpera's. Consumers Choice Award winner for Best Meat and Deli. 28 Crowfoot Circle in the Northwest. Greg Keller, another week of recouping on the, he's probably up there, like, dancing a jig and doing all kinds of stuff. When's the Canwar Rodeo? He'll be ready for that.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Yeah, he'll be. He's already tailgating. He's ready to go. Oh, for sure. Canmore. Sorry. Cochran. Steve,
Starting point is 00:29:13 Owl said, yeah, I hear you. Camrose. I hear you. John, St. John's, Fort McMorrett. Yeah, Fort Mac,
Starting point is 00:29:22 Fort McMurray. Fort St. John. Fort St. John. A lot of forts. Yeah. That's right. Who was having the barbecue dilemma? Was it Rhett? Yeah,
Starting point is 00:29:31 if I saw some clip, he didn't want to clean his barbecue? You want to just buy a new one? Well, knowing, here's a thing. It's, It's tough because we know Rhett.
Starting point is 00:29:41 Yeah. He's happy to let other people do stuff. He's very happy to let others do things. He'll call it delegating. He's an idea guy. Right. But if he's been waiting for someone in his house to clean the barbecue, it's probably not one of those things.
Starting point is 00:30:01 So it can add up if, because there's some grease and heat and all that together. Then you get ashes building in there. You got to empty it out every five years or so. Yeah. But I remember when he did the rental on his house and he bought a new grill then. So this is not, you know, he's not sitting out there with kindling and Flint trying to get it started. This is a nice barbecue.
Starting point is 00:30:26 It's just fine. And like we were discussing, I don't think that the technology, what is it, what are you doing now on a barbecue that you weren't doing 10 years ago? Yeah, he could, I've got an air fryer and it. You can, you know, whatever. The rotisserie that hooks up here. Yeah, sure. Yeah. He's got the rotissary and all that.
Starting point is 00:30:41 I think he just wanted somebody to say, hey, wreck, go buy a new barbecue. Yeah. He likes new stuff. Yeah. He felt like it needed to be professionally cleaned. Professionally. Is that a thing? You can have somebody to go over to clean your barbecue.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Or again, someone not him. Lazy. If someone not him could clean the barbecue. It is nice, though. I remember for the longest time, moved into this home, didn't, had the, the natural gas. thing outside but didn't have a natural gas connection spent years doing stupid propane runs yeah buy it get off your wallet you once you get that natural gas oh baby she's a good one i would like a new one too though even get a deal you're a gearhead too you look new things
Starting point is 00:31:24 hey this is your uh summer for golf how's golf season treating so good ryan yeah good yeah i don't know have you i don't think i i don't think i've had a bogey all summer really that's probably one of the best summers you ever had, I'm guessing then. Yeah, really feeling it. I can't even go around without a bogey. Yeah, really feeling it. Had that went out to, well, it's not Sterlings, but went out to hit the old golf sim there.
Starting point is 00:31:54 You and I with our golf simulator experiences. Right, yeah. How was the sim treating you? Really, yeah, well, clearly great. Yeah, chop part, pebble, something like that. Yeah, my game has been spot on. How about, how about Jack? Jack, do you golf?
Starting point is 00:32:10 No, but I'm getting some clubs. I'm going to, I'm going to commit. I was trying to buy Dean's club. You should try to buy his clubs. He doesn't use them. I know what you're talking about. They're in my shed somewhere. I use them all the time.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Constantly using those clubs wherever they are. All right. Yeah. Yeah. You want to do a Pinda report? Yeah. Yeah, I do. Really.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Boy, there's lots to get through here. Buckle up. Get yourself beverage. Maybe we'll allow people time to go to the washroom before we get into this massive, mahusive news dump that is the 17th day of July in the world of sports. Brought to you by Village Honda. The fifth annual Honda and Accura show and shine August 23rd. They got Best in Show, Best Modified.
Starting point is 00:33:02 Best in Show is a good movie, Jack. Oh, hilarious. Mockumentary. Best in Show and a Mighty Wind. I do love a Mighty Way. Spinal Tap is the other one. That's the same guy. God, those were good.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Christopher Guest and Oh, so funny. Yeah, they're great. Best and show, best modified, best classic, people's choice, best off make. That and their demo inventory clearout is on. Plenty of reasons to go to village honda.com. You can get signed up, get more details, register for the show and shine, and just find out what else is going on because they are, man, they're crashing it up there.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Get that passport before Rhett steals it. He's still talking about it. Trouble is, I think, I think that, A good deal is there? It's the hang-up that free is kind of what Rett's looking to pay. Yeah, he's an idea guy. His idea is not paying for the car. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:54 He's got a lot of those ideas. A deal for Village Honda to me. Yeah. It's not a great deal for them at all. For sure. They'll give you a good deal. But they won't give you a free brand-new vehicle. But he's so active on social media, it'll really be worth their while.
Starting point is 00:34:10 For all the love they'll get on. All right, well, let's head over to Flames Nation to see what the hell they've found to talk about, because frankly, I'm out of gas. They're still writers are writing. Oh, the regular season got released yesterday, the schedule dean. Yay. Pike. Oh, Pike bomb.
Starting point is 00:34:32 Pike bomb. Okay. Well, there's got to be some tidbits in here. What do we know? What do we know about the schedule? Okay, so they're going to play four games against the ducks, oilers, kings, Sharks and Golden Nights. Three against the Cracken and three against the Canucks.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Only one home game against Canucks. That'll come March 28th, a Saturday night, 8 o'clock affair. One home and away with the East, sure. Great. Let's keep moving. There are some highlights. There's some big games every year at the Dome. This is the second last year of the Dome.
Starting point is 00:35:09 The final year of 82 games at the Dome is the 26-27 seasonal have 84 games. hope it holds up. Yeah, it's been doing a good job of holding up. I'll give it that. She's not a young bird, but she's a functional bird. Battle of Alberta, December 27 and February, they actually book in the holidays. Dean, with the game with the weather's before Christmas and after.
Starting point is 00:35:33 That's a great time of year for some rivalry hockey. Can't wait because it's cold A.F. Relatives are over and you've got to get the game on and nobody's working. It's good stuff. The Montreal annual visit is early the end of October the 22nd. Leaves in. Invade, Feb 2, and it's Dan Vlodar, Disco Dan and the Philadelphia Flyers visiting on New Year's Eve for the annual NYE game, which is typically very fun. Nice.
Starting point is 00:35:58 Yeah. Six game roadies, six game homestand, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. There is a schedule. There's a super chat we'll get to later as well that ties into the schedule, but we'll save that for later. Great. Well, good job to the, what do they call that? the computer program. The schedule maker.
Starting point is 00:36:17 Yeah, there's some kind of terminal. There's a matrix with building availability. Yeah, there's a matrix deal with buildings and dates and that. So good work to the matrix. Yeah, good work, Matrix. On getting that done. Yeah. I've known the flames with a league low nine back to backs.
Starting point is 00:36:35 Everybody has more except the jets who also have nine. So you won't be mowing and filling your diapers. Oh, another back to me. that's you can do that all winter we don't need to do that now do we motivate up i guess yeah yeah it's a second of a back-to-back the scheduled loss especially the third and four nights that's a real schedule yes keep moving oh huge NHL news trade request dean what mcdavid what what oh no yigour chinikov through a translator i had some misunderstand these with coach during season. Now I'd be
Starting point is 00:37:14 glad to have a trade. I'd like to move to different location. Will I return to Russia? As long as I can play in NHL, I keep developing here. So that's, I think, a trade of Christ. So there was that from Shumi Babayev.
Starting point is 00:37:31 Yeah. Baya of Shumi. Thank you, Shumi. When you're dealing with the Shumi Babaev agency, they're playing hardball. And when they want to trade, they're going to let it be known. Thank you, Shoe. The boots are the blue jackets over this. Not just, I guess, clarity, because when I read this, when I said, well, I return to Russia,
Starting point is 00:37:48 as long as I can play in the NHL, I will keep developing here. And then he has at blue jackets. So I don't think he's saying, I will keep developing here at the Columbus blue jackets. I think he means at the NHL. Just, yeah, at Russia. So he's a very tough translates to make a Russian sound English.
Starting point is 00:38:07 And it's too bad because when they drafted him in the first round, they were the only one that knew who the fuck he was. I was telling Jack this story. He's like, who's this idiot? And I'm like, okay, let me tell you story. So Yarmal Kekalana steps up to the podium and says Igor Chinikov. And every GM looks to their scouting director and mouths. Yeah, poor Sam Cozantino, who's the prospect expert on sportsnet that day.
Starting point is 00:38:31 Igor Chinokov. Oh, um, Chinikovs. Uh, I'm sure. I'm sure I got it here somewhere. him. Russia plays in Russia. Toolsy pick him up.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Pick him up. Oh, Shumbyov's going to be on. He's on the case, though. Yeah. He's on the phone. Yeah. Hello.
Starting point is 00:39:00 Yes, we can get you, Igor. Yes. Talk to boss, man. No, stinking mushrooms. Well, good luck, Igor. Yeah, he and the coach team. He just weren't on the same thing. Who is the coach?
Starting point is 00:39:13 Babcock? Not anymore. Is it Brad Larson? Is it someone else now? No, it's the guy that was in Minnesota. Yeah. Dean Aveson. Dean Avison.
Starting point is 00:39:22 He did a great job. I think he was finished quite high. If you can't play for Dean, I don't want you on my team. Dean Eversons, he's a good boy. He's a good on his, all he wants is for the best for everybody. It's a no-eager policy if you can't get in with the deans. We'll see. Get the bricks.
Starting point is 00:39:40 Yegor. He didn't play a ton last year. He had seven goals. I think his career high is 16. He's still young. It looks like a third-line winger. So good luck, Yeager. Right. Not our Yigour. That, of course, would be That's our Yigour. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:56 Sharon Gaw. She's L. Russian. Although if this one can get that one going, then maybe do pick him up. Maybe. Yeah. I feel like two Yigors might be too many. Yeah. Can we get Shumi Babaev on the phone.
Starting point is 00:40:13 Can you just give him a ring? We'll get him on. Sue me Babaev agency. Shumi Bayaev speaking. I thought you had a Russian accent. Yes. The biggest news of the day, though, and the true, I suppose,
Starting point is 00:40:29 tell all of where we're at in the news cycle. This is from Daily Faceoff today, Dean. You want to give you a read on that headline. Connor McDavid, Leon Dryside, lose beer league game and new market. on the videos all over the internet this morning. This is how you know it's time to go away on vacation. It's like,
Starting point is 00:40:49 Dave and Drysadler were down four or nothing in the first in a beer league game. What the fuck's going on? This is literally on a website. That's how dead things are. Jack, can we pause the podcast till September, please? Should we read this article? We could.
Starting point is 00:41:07 No. I believe they were held off to Scorchy 2D. which is tough because I don't think it was the Panthers they were playing in New Market. It doesn't happen very often. So good on the steam and dumps for keeping McDavid David and Drysidal off the score sheet. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:26 Must have a lot of scouts in the crowd for that one. Probably not. Local sports, we do have some good summer stuff going on. The stampeters are in action tomorrow night. They get the Friday night. Football night. Rematch against Winnipeg we talked about. Tonight the week kicks off with Argo.
Starting point is 00:41:42 and alouettes, owls heavy favorites there. The DERS who were unbeaten until they got stomped by the stamps. They're in B.C. And the Thai cats face the red blacks. Red black, red black.
Starting point is 00:41:57 Our old buddy, Bo Levi's having a season. He is. He and VA are right at the top of a lot of these statistics, power rankings. How about it? How's Rourke doing?
Starting point is 00:42:10 It wasn't great early. He got hurt, didn't he? You know what? He came back last year and that's what made VA available. That might have been the greatest, like, blessing in disguise for the Calgary Stampeders, just Rourke coming back to the CFL. She's not getting VA if he doesn't come back. There's your standings four in one of the stamps.
Starting point is 00:42:30 They've looked great. Alex got to win. They have one. They have six home wins in the last five years. It's not been great. so much so that I think they're contemplating a name change.
Starting point is 00:42:45 Right back to the Eskimos, Dean. Got it. Next up. I think that's it for Stan. Oh, no, no. That won't. Next home game. Look at this.
Starting point is 00:42:55 $5 beers at the corral, Dean. Jack. What's the calendar? $5 beers. It's throwback pricing on. Jack and Ryan will be doing some content creation at the Stampeter game. Strictly, it's a work event.
Starting point is 00:43:07 So it has nothing to do with. $5. Bears all game. Security over here. We've got two young men passed out. Actually, one of them looks quite old. Jesus. It's dressed up in young people's clothing.
Starting point is 00:43:18 Oh, no, that's the barbeder guys. They're just getting some content. They're puking all over each other, sir. Listen, I said it to start, and it's good on the stampeters. They are trying, they're getting stuff going. Yes. It's happening on the field for them, which obviously helps. And that's awesome.
Starting point is 00:43:35 So I'm happy for Dave and all the, you know, the football side. But for Jay McNeil and his staff. and the promotions people and the people in the sales side. Let's go. It's a Thursday. It's a Thursday game. All right. It's Thursday.
Starting point is 00:43:47 There's a $5 beer and throwback. We'll have things in the good for them. Yeah. They're grinding away. Victory Monday pricing earlier this week. Love that. It's working. Together we ride.
Starting point is 00:43:59 Together we ride. Okay. We'll move. Calvary FC. They're on a tough little stretch. They're red hot in June. Then July's not been kind. Another draw on the road.
Starting point is 00:44:10 at Vancouver FC. Now they got ahead to Winnipeg this weekend, but they do have good news in the form of a returnee. Former Cavs speedster. Gote and Tigny is coming back. He was in France playing for Anisee of the second division in the last couple of years. They sold him for a record sum in the CPL.
Starting point is 00:44:31 And he said, you know what? France's not for me. Just want to be a Cav. Welcome back. He's eligible to play, I believe, after the 24th. So probably not this weekend. Oh, I got it. He said, I will.
Starting point is 00:44:40 want to go back to Calgary. That's right. Go to the Stampede. I love French food. Yeah. Do you ever do the the muscles and fries? Oh, yeah. God, those are good. The sauces? Yes. Oh.
Starting point is 00:44:55 Hey, Rhett. What's happening? I thought you're at the lake. Look how clear my pictures. Oh, my God. You look great. You look relaxed. Yeah. Yeah. You're not too stressed, though? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:10 You've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you've, you're termination. big news, yeah. Can you, Jack's watching movies on who you, you're only yermo is? Yeah, yeah, JJ. J.J. Yeah. Probably back to you.
Starting point is 00:45:33 I mean, J.J. in Chicago once. Hell of a time. Really? Hell of a time. He's a big tall bastard. like 6-6 basketball player. Oh, we had some fun. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:47 Yeah. We went for Italian food. It was an old Italian restaurant in old Italy and old Chicago. And it was delicious and I ate too much. And I was not very good at playing hockey the next day. Oh, well, two carbs. Oh, what are you going to do? Choices, right, Dean?
Starting point is 00:46:04 Yeah. Priorities. You made your choice. It was one hell of a meal. Kind of a family style thing. real good. Lots of garlic. Heavy on the garland. I'm back for 24 hours,
Starting point is 00:46:15 Rhett. Yeah. I'm going to make you jealous where I went for dinner last night. No free plugs, but. Mercado? Ah, ha, ha, ha, ha. That's weird. I was thinking with the rainy weather, I'm like, I'm going to take the boys to Mercado today. Oh.
Starting point is 00:46:33 What about that Italian joint down by us there? I didn't know you guys are, Can you guys include me in your business ventures? You're building those big towers in Mardaloupe now. I don't know what, what is? Yeah, I've got a 17-story one going, Dean, I've been working on that for a while. I knew you guys.
Starting point is 00:46:50 Well, look, we keep things quiet. If you're driving through Mardaloup, you probably wouldn't even know that there's any construction going on. You know, we're just, just lay low. Slide it in there? Yeah, just lay low, don't. No one needs to know. And you guys are movers and shakers.
Starting point is 00:47:07 Yeah, we really are. get a lot done yeah yeah yeah no but what about that other the italian place down the road from the studio dopo oh that's a banger i've been there yeah that's probably the toughest restaurant to get into the city you got a book at midnight for like the month out it's great well jack if jack if you want to go on the fake a i doesn't work just drop ret's name right just fine yeah i don't know if red knows the story uh just keep that you're a big swinger downtown retro people dropping your name at the door to get into places yeah if that failing failing it's still failing in that worked wow I was sympathetic but now that you've
Starting point is 00:47:51 mentioned him I'm going to have to ask you to leave yeah I believe you know my friend red Warner did he play for the Leafs oh fuck that's Todd they're not really can I just come in please What ass hat is trying that move? A young fella that's just learning about life. Haven't been in a bar for 15 years. Is that right? 15 years, that's a long time.
Starting point is 00:48:25 A long time. It's a long time. Yeah, it's a long time. Hey, right, you want to grab a beer after the show? No, like a bar bar. Okay. Like a nightclub. Yeah, like out clubbing.
Starting point is 00:48:37 lounge, had drinks, but not real. Hey, I'm going to go to a bar. Do you think you'll ever get back to a nightclub bar? Somebody said something to me just over the weekend or this last couple days about the kids are going to leave at some point
Starting point is 00:49:02 or not want to be around, whether they then fled the country or just out. for the night but what they're not going to want is to be involved in the shoveler in my life right they said some people actually start hitting the town again at that point really empty nesters letting loose divorce that's it involved swinging that's right we're rat if we're getting back into something let's ratchet it up a whole other now he just cut out there was he inter out on swinging. I missed that party. Oh, I'm in. Okay. Yeah. Um, now if you're, what if you're, if you're in
Starting point is 00:49:45 Nashville and you go to a hog, that's not a bar, right? It's a hockey time. That's different. Right. Yeah. I'll say if, because I remember if we were in Miami. Oh, yeah. On a work trip and everyone was going to 11 or something like that. That's a club. That's a club. You'd be there. Right. but it wouldn't be one of those things like Thursday I feel like going out tonight what do you want to do? Probably the closest bringing up Phoenix
Starting point is 00:50:17 is probably the closest thing I've been to a bar now that you mention it I went in ordered a beer, didn't drink it and left but I did step into the place. Yeah. What was the driving force behind the visit? Everyone was going there
Starting point is 00:50:31 and then I immediately realized that the loud music and a crowd annoyed the piss out of me. I'm not no interest in staying to nod at someone that's talking to me and have no clue what they're saying. Didn't you also have to poop? I don't recall that, but. Yeah. That wouldn't have helped.
Starting point is 00:50:51 Yeah, if I did, that would have even more reason to leave. Sometimes that's just a good excuse as well. I can't shit here. You know, you got to check the clocks. You got to know when the cleaners come on shift. You can't be doing pub deuses at night. That's no good. No.
Starting point is 00:51:07 Like what do you do? Pinder. Because, I mean, you're out at all hours of the day and night and. Well, it's Stampede. There's outhouses, Dean. Like, do you just poop in a cup or do you, like, carry a bag around with you, putting your backpack? I tend not to, uh, polypoo while I'm out socially.
Starting point is 00:51:24 That's kind of the thing. Yeah. It's a thing. It can happen. I don't like you when it happens, but, uh, it's not good. Hey, you go have a hot chicken sandwich and then you're next. Beaking up. four days speaking of i know i really like that place that was down below us uh yeah had to close up
Starting point is 00:51:45 for some unseen yeah weird unforeseen gave up with martyloop i don't get through the front hustling marteloup like what anyway dave's hot chicken Dave have you heard of i've heard of have not had where's dave cloud now this mcclough trail is is trying to to battle with you guys in your marteloup Right. Kingdom. They got chick filla. They got a chick filla and just a short, yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:15 And that bastard was really backed up last night. I don't know how I know, but it was backed up last night. And then just, you know where the old Earls was? Yeah. Dave's hot chicken. Really? Let me tell you, the fat kid may have had a slight addiction last year in Buffalo to Dave's hot chicken. Oh, so this is a chain.
Starting point is 00:52:38 Yeah, yeah. It is delicious. Well, it would test to see if they can stay true to the recipe. Crossing borders. Oh, yeah, tariffs. Tariffs, elevation. Yeah, shorter to bake time. Shorter change rates.
Starting point is 00:52:54 Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Oh, for sure. I still, it's still not over the fact that Buffalo Wildlings left town. Was it good? I enjoyed the boneless. I liked it.
Starting point is 00:53:05 Okay. Almost Thursday's job. I really liked it. The bonus. God. What I want you, oh, you're at your house.
Starting point is 00:53:11 I was going to say, when you drive home today, I want you to stop at Dave's. The problem with Dave's, and now I guess it's different. Because there's nothing that compares in the fried chicken world for me to Cluck and Cleaver. Oh,
Starting point is 00:53:25 yeah. But Dave's is kind of a different knockoff, right? Like it's not. Yeah. Different style? Yeah. You can like fried chicken and not like hot chicken.
Starting point is 00:53:34 Yeah. Yeah. And if you don't like fried chicken, you're an idiot. That's true. Yeah, I don't know what to just get away from there. You bastard. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:46 Can you buy a 16-year-old of Maserati? You can. I wouldn't advise that necessarily. Why? Because they're douchy. Idiots, and they're 16, and they're going to ruin it. And you're going to spend a lot of money. It's cheaper than some of the other rakes.
Starting point is 00:54:06 Yeah. Nothing's cheap. Nothing's cheap. Be nice if you could get a vehicle free, you know, if you could find a way. I don't know what the hell happened. I used to get free vehicles left and right. I know. I used to also get into bars.
Starting point is 00:54:18 Bars and nightclubs. Dropping my name. No, Jack can't even get into Cowboys dropping your name. Maybe there's a correlation. I don't know. Who? I mean, anyone, theoretically. No, yeah, you said,
Starting point is 00:54:34 Boom's got to go check out. he's not leaving his house today. Have you seen the weather? This is a soup day. No, I'm absolutely leaving my house today. Are you? Where are you headed? Wayne Wright.
Starting point is 00:54:45 No, back from Wayne Wright. You're leaving the house today? Yeah. Where are you going? Must have so important. What's going on? Well, the house is kind of empty right now, fellas. Isn't that how you like it?
Starting point is 00:54:57 Kind of nice. And then you're going to leave? So you leave when the house is empty and stay when the house is full? That doesn't, something's going on. There's a work project going on. I've been doing a lot of workouts. but it's a rain day today. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:11 I might go see a movie. What are you going to see? Finally, there's a few I would. I'd go see the Jurassic Park. I would go see the Mission Impossible. Very good. My kid went to the Superman movie and said it was actually pretty good. It looks.
Starting point is 00:55:25 All sequels. Every single movie that is in the theater is a sequel. It's insane how we've completely lost the ability to be creative. Ryan, we're living in a large language model. We are AI. We just repeat, repeat. It's a large language model. We like what we know.
Starting point is 00:55:43 I like Spurfs. Is Smurfs a... That looks terrible, in my opinion. Because there was a TV show back in the day. Was there not? It was real good. Gargamel used to... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:54 I would go see F1. The Brad Pitt F1 movie? Yeah. What is this Eddington? With... Oh, what's his name there? never heard of it never heard of what's his name walking phoenix pedro pascal emma stone oh is this that weird one small town sheriff and a mayor spark a powder keg as a neighbor is pitted against neighbor in eddington new mexico yeah that goes against my swinging thing where if we're gonna share we're gonna be neighbors yeah share and share alike tell me what time you're going and what movie you're going to i'll bring my kids down we'll grab some corn you'll you'll leave them there and i'll pop up the kids kids for you. I dropped off my dog 10 years ago for you. Yeah. It's not info you're going to be
Starting point is 00:56:46 getting, sadly. Yeah, I'm just, uh, I just, uh, I just go to Airdrie to watch the movie right? Well, you just meet me in the, uh, the cinema there in Airdrie. Yeah. I'll be there. What are you doing here? Uh, back to the Fender part. No Basarotti. No Maserani. Like, like, SUV or like car or what? I don't know. So they were the other people get all wound up. Yeah. Showing me pictures. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:21 All right. Jack? That's Jack. I'm all right. I don't like the rain. You didn't like the rain this morning. Never like the rain till I walk with you. Clint Black.
Starting point is 00:57:38 Tell me about Clint Black, Jack. Clint Black. Killin time. Sounds like the manager of the Rocky. killing time is killing me dean it is I feel like that could be our theme song I won't see is there nothing going on like no this is where the Pinderport report
Starting point is 00:58:03 could excel yeah it really can yeah well we we did have the story stampeters are on the road this week they're in Winnipeg tomorrow but then next week they've got the throwback it's their throwback game with $5 beers all night. And apparently, it looks like maybe we'll have some
Starting point is 00:58:24 creating content. You got to get Jack at field level there. Yeah, Jack's thinking maybe that'd be a good game to go on. Yeah. Weird. Good idea. Montreal's in town.
Starting point is 00:58:38 The cavalry. That's when you came in there. Cavs got the because maybe we need a road trip. Team trip to, Manitoba. There's the fires out there, too. I tried to go to Manitoba with you years ago for a jet's game,
Starting point is 00:58:55 and you were a putz about it. I don't think that's accurate. I think you wanted to go to Winnipeg for some reason, but I don't remember. Big where he didn't even want to go watch George Strait with him in Buffalo. Maybe it's less about the performance. I thought that I didn't want to go. It just was not good timing.
Starting point is 00:59:17 I wasn't even that. Is there, are they doing a concert? Plenty of time to go watch some local yokel. Not local. He's from Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Some dumbass thing on a stage or you couldn't go to Buffalo to watch. You're so good. Come on.
Starting point is 00:59:34 Ret, that shirt was a hit at Stampede, by the way. Oh. Pete today. I think Dean's gone next Tuesday. We're in Pete today, Tuesday, Rhett. Nice. Really hit him with the promo. He's not happy by it.
Starting point is 00:59:52 Where are you going? Yeah, where are you going? Manitoba, Tobah. Tobah, Toba, Toba, girls. Tobah, Toba girls. No, not Toba. One of the people, well, actually, two of the people that live in the house are in Toba right now. Really?
Starting point is 01:00:09 One of them's really having a good time. Stop talking, Dean. Stop talking. You got shit for the, well, you got remind, yeah. I get reminded. Self control the other day. Really. And you start shit talking things.
Starting point is 01:00:24 It's like, um, people are listening. It's on the internet. They watch. So like, don't say anything about anything. Okay. So my wife is in Manitoba having a great time. Nothing to see here.
Starting point is 01:00:37 Helping out on the farm and everything's going great. Everything's great. I'm sure everyone's really excited to be back together. The family. There are lots of jobs to do, but it's good to stay busy. Yeah. And it's good camaraderie and it brings people together when there are challenges to tackle as a group. Oh, not good, hey.
Starting point is 01:00:57 Holy. It's like that. E. OJ. Love. It might be a court case. Never know. The cloud law.
Starting point is 01:01:07 Speaking of Winnipeg. God, Resurge there tonight, I believe. Are you kidding me? The Stink and Sea Bears and the stampeters all in Winnipeg and we're not going. A sports show like us. Unbelievable. Jack, one of those teams.
Starting point is 01:01:23 Walk us through the tonight's schedule. Yeah. It's the Eminton Stingers, Jack, top left. And they're facing the... They're on the road. They're facing the rabbits. Do you think that's the Black Jacks, I think? The Black Jacks and the Surge and the Sea Bears.
Starting point is 01:01:40 Yeah. They go. Big games tonight. TSM Plus. Check in. We don't want to ask with those sea bears. I know the picture doesn't look like much, but they look friendly, don't they? They look friendly, don't they?
Starting point is 01:01:51 Real bastards. What do you think of their logos in the CBR? I think they put a lot into them. Surge has done quite well. The surge is great. The others, well, let's just say they're chasing the surge in popularity. 11 and 5. Good start to the year.
Starting point is 01:02:09 They had, what, 7,000 fans at the dome? Yeah. MP, that was great. And here's the schedule. They're about to play a ton. We're talking next Friday and Sunday, two home games in three days. So we're on the road this week, next weekend they're home. And, all right, check them out at Win Sport.
Starting point is 01:02:27 got to chase down those Vancouver bandits. Rat really hates that logo. I think it's actually all right. It's nasty. Bandit. He's got like a bandana over his eyes because he's a bandit. It's a fox. Right.
Starting point is 01:02:39 It's this bandit. Here's the deal. Winnipeg's going to host the championship weekend. You've got to get into the top two in the West. Well, they're there. Top seat. Love to be that top seat. Let's go.
Starting point is 01:02:53 Let's go. Come on. Come on, Ruggsy. Let's go. People love doing. dumb shit of baseball baseball games. Nine-nine-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-d guys now trying to do six dogs and six out, first six outs of the game.
Starting point is 01:03:08 Now we've got some guy in a Brewer's jersey running a marathon literally around one diamonds, base paths. Marathon around a baseball diamond, only eating peanuts and cracker jacks. One lap around is 302 feet. It's starting to groove the track. First to second. Second to third. It looks like this losers by himself, too.
Starting point is 01:03:42 Yeah, weird, hey, isn't it, friends? A lot of people out there to root them on. They really cheered them on. Who's counting? He's got the watch there. That proved a lot. It's probably AI here. War spread out over four days.
Starting point is 01:03:59 You know, what's good about this, though, is there will be a payoff. Oh, for sure. Yeah, there's good builds up here. Yeah. I can't even slide. Whoa, okay. We finished the baseball. There it is.
Starting point is 01:04:10 What a huge payoff. So we did it. He did it, 26.2 miles. Is that a marathon? God, they're pouring. Look, there's this. Yeah, there it is because he's on the field. Jeez.
Starting point is 01:04:20 And a marathon. Ooh, that was horrible. That guy's a loser. We need some better baseball, Jack. Get us a better baseball. So there again, that would be one of those things where, you know, what we, what we should do is run a, because we're baseball. We love baseball.
Starting point is 01:04:38 It's good to go by a marathon, but only do it around a ball diamond. Oh, yeah. all you should do is just have like peanuts and cracker jacks because the song talks about peanut yeah do that okay and then so what's the well i'll finish yeah and then i'll be done yeah okay and then uh it got it yeah okay happens a lot in the Fender report. This is a better version of baseball here. I haven't seen this for. This must be Europe because everyone looks like it's NASCAR with all the ads all over.
Starting point is 01:05:13 Tickly. This is a nice ad. I'd love to see this in some of the ballparks. You're like a crick down the right field line instead of foul territory? Yes. That's what we need. Every ballpark's different. I want a creek on the red field line.
Starting point is 01:05:34 Fins, they know how to party. I bet you that are, those are totally fins. Gonna go and have some, whatever, then some weird fish after the game. Ludophisks. Ludafisk and have a sauna together. I don't, now,
Starting point is 01:05:52 here's it, here's, there are safety issues here. There are a foul ball right here. Well, he's got helmet. That's so they're aware of people behind there. The befell tip.
Starting point is 01:06:05 That's big, got to lay out for that, fucker. Yeah. that's your uh thursday what's it what oh you came in halfway more than halfway through
Starting point is 01:06:17 jakes but those were his two big no listen don't the chance to save the show no listen what this is this is growth two bad videos that's a fine number better than six we'll make nine of them
Starting point is 01:06:34 doesn't make it better jack you got that video of them eating the lizard we could throw that in Did you see what they're doing to catch the snakes in the Everglades? What are they doing? Robotic bunnies. Robotic bunnies. You can Google.
Starting point is 01:06:56 In the Everglades. Yeah. Hunting down pythons and shit. Yeah. That was a Kenny Powersism right there. Pythons and shit means robotic bunnies. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:13 catching them anacondas and shit hey I want to see the ceramic dinosaur that was created by the evil geniuses in your home oh we got the funky chicken we had the the clay sloth and today is
Starting point is 01:07:29 clay sushi they're going to make fake sushi one of the kids at least you're like it does no interesting what's these sadocos I'll bring them on set I'll throw them up behind me we'll make a little shelf that'd be great yeah that'd be great Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:07:44 How was your thing today that you couldn't move today because it already got moved and you want to move it again because then we can move to 2027? I don't know. You get signed up for these things and they tell you that you're unhealthy and that you're about to die and so they better check some things out. Are any of, is it ever good? Oh, we're all going to die. I mean, I know that.
Starting point is 01:08:03 When I walked out at the building, I'm like, well, I had a pretty good run. I guess it's coming. Wasn't nice to know it's coming, but maybe not. It wasn't great news. Yeah. They didn't make me stay. Yeah, they did let you go, although sometimes. Well, there's nothing we can do for you.
Starting point is 01:08:28 Awesome. So I'm good. All righty. Did your best. I'd say good, but there's not a lot we can do for you. Thanks, fellas. Let's go have some Italian. The good news, Mr. Pender, is you seem to be quite healthy with the flexibility
Starting point is 01:08:45 But over here, you have the liver of a 300-year-old. Geez, you need to look at a replacement. Those things now, they'll regenerate, Ryan. Just catch it in time. What do you feed a liver to regenerate it? I have no clue. I base my diet on. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:01 Yeah. Some of the UFA still out there, hey, fellas? Is that right? Yeah, yeah. Skinfleet went to sharks. Hey, let's get Pinder going on Zeri again, because I like this. It's relative to our show. What's the latest on Zer?
Starting point is 01:09:20 Still no deal for Connor Zerry. Yeah, there's no time crunch. Training Camps in friggin' September. We got a bet on that. We do have a bet on that. Jack thinks he's going to get more money Aavee than Frost. I said, uh, no.
Starting point is 01:09:34 I put down my pizza money and I made another bet. And then I pretty much got told I was stupid by Steinberg and Ryan. Yeah. Well, Steinberg's an asshole. So you can't. You're going to be careful around that guy. And again, framing. This was that the wild horse tended about two.
Starting point is 01:09:48 I was going to say, what time of day. And first of all, you're mistaken right off the top to be throwing this around because that's not your money. That pizza is mine. That money is for pizza. Tuesday is paid for me. So you're betting my money. Exactly. So if I lose Ryan buys the pizza.
Starting point is 01:10:11 That's ours. So you guys are out at Stampede. I'm moving that bet back to Dino. Dino, you're in a tent, having beers, having a good time. and you guys are debating the RFA contracts of Morgan Frost and you fucking losers. Jesus. I don't know. Get laid.
Starting point is 01:10:33 I don't know. It's a 4.25. Oh, well, yeah, but he's a first, top first round. He went to a second half of the first. Oh, but yeah, he filed for arbitration. Cowboy boots walking by. But if it's team, team sell arbitration, then they. Jack's going to be in his bonnet over this area.
Starting point is 01:10:51 He's like, why isn't it done? Why is it done? I'm like, well, what's the rush? You've got two months to camp. What do you mean? Why is it not done? Why is it Connor done? Is there people forgetting out about that?
Starting point is 01:11:01 No. What do you mean? It'll get done. Oh, it's done. But yeah, hey, look, it doesn't mean that you like Morgan Frost more than Conner's area. It's just that Conner's area is zero leverage.
Starting point is 01:11:13 He doesn't have our rights. That's how it works. That's when Andrew Manjapani is a great year and Trillivings squeezes them for $880 grand because he can, not because he doesn't deserve. more. Well, piss off. And when, Japan, he has the screws.
Starting point is 01:11:26 He scores 35 and he gets $6 million a year. I mean, when you have leverage, you use it. The flames have leverage over Connor's area. He's not going to get a lot of money unless he is, make a huge long-term commitment to him, which I'm not sure they're ready to do. So was just, just in passing this came up or? I don't know. Jack really had to be in his monitor with the Zeri thing.
Starting point is 01:11:47 No, I didn't. You guys were talking about and I walked up. No, because you're. asking me at the stamps game. Because that was the night we went to, that was sneak peek night. And it was like, why isn't Sarah done? Why since Sarah done? No, timelines may be foggy. I'm with Dean on this whole.
Starting point is 01:12:03 I think I saw Pat and I'm like, oh, here's Jack. What do you think Zeri's going to sign for? He laid out like exactly what I'd guess was going to happen. So that's when Jack thinks he knows he's in trouble with his pizza money. Steinberg said it was like a two hour conversation with Pinder Road contracts on flames. See? there there is the truth that's the truth we had i think you were talking about it and you were i think i was
Starting point is 01:12:30 uh i was grabbing shooters and dancing uh i was going to just on my way back and over i just added my two cents there was a lot of talk i'm sorry that's okay that's a nerd alert that big nerd alert for sure my boy monte would have been all over you fellow nerd alert So what is, do you have a number in your head? I think it's going to be two years at like three and a half. It's a bridge. Because if you can tell me exactly what Conner's area is going to be for the next six to eight years, then I'll go long term with you, but we don't really know what he is.
Starting point is 01:13:09 Can you not say that about any human in the world? No, there's guys that you definitely know what they're going to be. Like Macklin Celebrini is going to be a number one center. It's really, really good. Like Matt Coronado is going to be a top one winner that scores a lot. Conor's area is going to be You're convinced the Coronado's going to be a top guy that scores a lot?
Starting point is 01:13:28 He went from almost no scoring to 24. Like he's the trajectory is great. He's scored at every level. He's young. What about the guy we're talking about? He's had two seasons that are really similar that hasn't shown huge progression. And I don't know if he's a center or a winger.
Starting point is 01:13:44 Why does that matter? Because you're trying to go with a contract. You get paid differently. No, but just in terms of, Like if you're a lawyer or Janet, you can pay differently. It matters which one you are. I understand. But just in turn, is, don't know what he is.
Starting point is 01:13:57 Just take the position. Is he a guy that's in your top six or top? I think he's a middle six player. Yeah. I don't think he's a top line guy. So if you're the agent and it's like, oh, just give us the money. Like, it doesn't matter. It's a winner.
Starting point is 01:14:10 Well, the agent's like, geez, if I can sell them on him being a center, I can make more money for this kid. Who's better? Who's better in their system as a younger? who's better? It could Coronado for sure. I don't think it's for sure. I think they're very similar, but that's...
Starting point is 01:14:27 Yeah, I mean, he's just younger and you've seen huge steps taken. How much? He's already had a better season than zero years? Like... Oh, it's a year and a half or a year, yeah. But it's less the age so much as like... Connor Zeres had three pro seasons. And the first NHL campaign that, uh, the Coronado's had is...
Starting point is 01:14:43 Was he not the most electric? Who was better at the start of the year this year? Probably Zeri. So why does that not matter? Because you just continue to see great progression from Cornell. Yeah, but he was allowed to go to the A. Progress. What's that?
Starting point is 01:14:59 There's something there. Yeah, there's something there, right? There's something there. Because you, you are, you are with contacts and nothing's ever linear and it takes time and all of this. You're very off Connor's area. No, I think he's a good part. I don't know that he's. Who's better?
Starting point is 01:15:18 Who's better as a young guy? even if Coronado is, okay, who's better? After that? Okay, so who's young? Like, Igor's not really young. I don't know. Frost isn't young. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:32 I don't know. Like, if you're saying younger than him, that's like you've hoped you've drafted some kids will be better than him, you've got a lot of forwards in the system. Like your grittins and your bashes and Reschney, who is a center and, you know, Potter, there's, you've drafted a lot of forwards that you're hoping could, you know,
Starting point is 01:15:47 be top six guys. Are they part of the core group that's like? Not yet. You're still prospects. You're going to make it. You know a lot of point I'm making, right? And now you're going to draft picks. And that's not really this.
Starting point is 01:16:00 I mean, I guess. No, but they don't like, who's like he's, what do you compare him to? Like Hansick? Frost better? I don't know. Frost is a center for sure. He's a better center than Zeri. Is it?
Starting point is 01:16:12 Well, I think Zeri could be a better offensive player. Like if you, if you put a gun in my head, I'd rather have Zeri than. Frost. He's younger. You got more team control. But Frost's going to make more because he's, you know, you know what he is in this league. He's just probably a third line center. Okay, well, then let's, I'm just arguing because he's got Arbricht's
Starting point is 01:16:30 so you can feel the market a bit. You did it. Sam Bennett, let's use him as an example. He wanted to be a center. It wouldn't allow him to be a center. They didn't allow him to grow as a center. He couldn't take him as a center either, but yeah, all those things are true. But don't
Starting point is 01:16:46 you learn, like, you have two children, right? Yeah. Would you say you know more about child rearing now than eight years ago? I'd hope so, yeah. Well, so can you look back and have any thoughts on, you know, we kind of mishandled this Bennett thing. Like, I'm not saying Bennett's free, clear of any responsibility, but as an organization, you should look at this and go. And same thing with Kachuk. Now, you bridged Kachuk, and then he ended up saying, I'm gone.
Starting point is 01:17:16 Do you know what I mean? and I'm playing the devil's advocate. If you bridge Zeri and say, well, you're not as good. We're going to bridge you. Well, the next time he comes back is he is excited to stay in Calgary because I think that is an important piece
Starting point is 01:17:29 for guys that want to be in Calgary. Yeah, he could slice him both of us. And if he wants to be a center, why are we rolling out all these old, excuse me, all these old pricks to stop him from being a center. Let him be a center.
Starting point is 01:17:47 like why can't we allow him to grow into that? Yeah, hey, look, I mean, there's two ways to look at the short-term deal. He's either really motivated to prove you wrong or you pissed him off. You can play it either way. We'll see. All he has to do is have two really good years and he's going to make even more money than he ever would have this summer. So I'm not too worried about that. The part about being a center, it's like, okay, well, he's not a top line center.
Starting point is 01:18:10 Nazim Qadri isn't even that, and he's trying to do that here. Backlens your checking center. That's your point. My point, though, is Cadre and Backlin, you and I agree in this. Cadre and Backlin aren't here when the team's good. Correct. Is it not, would it not be more beneficial for the organization to go, you know what? I'll take a stab at you, kid.
Starting point is 01:18:30 Yeah. So here's a scenario that I'd like to see. I'm going to play you at Center. And they have three NHL Centermen right now. It's Backland, Cadry, and Frost. Zeri may be that guy. And it would be really nice if you turn into a second line, sir. That'd be great.
Starting point is 01:18:45 how do you get a minute? Well, if there's an injury, it's easy, you plug him in. That's what happened last year. You had Backland get hurt. He slid into the middle, played there. It was okay. He wasn't dominant. Points are crazy, but he can play some center.
Starting point is 01:18:57 Do you want to play them on your fourth line instead of posth missile at center ice? Probably not. He's more minutes than that. So are you literally taking one of your only three NHL center and moving them away to get time for Zeri? That's sort of the challenge that they're facing. I would. The really, the big brain thing that I think they should do is, start taking calls on Nazim Qadry and say, look,
Starting point is 01:19:17 if there's you to be bad, this might be it. Trade Rasmus, see we can get for Godry, slide Zary in the middle, you'll know at the end of the year if he's a center or not. Well, and at the end of the year, Michael Backlin's deal is done too. I mean, it's, yeah, the landscape is going to change here very quickly. And I would say,
Starting point is 01:19:33 underestimating how good Zeri looked at the start of the years. The other point I just want to make. I think that Zeri was the most exciting offensive player we had up until whenever the hell he got hurt. I agree. And the injuries are part of it too. You don't want to say a guy's injury prone, but it's now, I think, three or four years or five,
Starting point is 01:19:51 where it's just like, dang it, he's hurt again. And that hurts development. You'd love to see a full, healthy season where he could really get on a good role. It's been two years in a row where you're like, shit. But I'm with you, Red. There is no reason why you cannot have patience and let some people develop in however you play center.
Starting point is 01:20:12 You're no good at it. Play some more center. it's the NHL. It's not where you want to develop it, but play. And even on a bridge deal, which I would pay them a little more on a bridge. If you want to bridge them, you're not up against the cap. I don't think you're a threat for any, again, I was out to launch last year. So happy to be wrong.
Starting point is 01:20:34 But I think it's going to be bad for the organization if they continue to muddle about in the middle. But regardless, I don't think you're up against the cap. If you're nickel and diming this kid over 500 grand, which sounds, it's easy for me to say, I think it's a waste. If you are convinced you want a bridge and they want a long term, okay,
Starting point is 01:20:56 well, you can fight about that, but if your bridge is, and I'm just stupid, three and a half. And they want four or something like that, yeah. We will give you your four. You come and you show us your centerman.
Starting point is 01:21:08 We're going to play the piss out of you at center. Stay healthy, improve us, and come back and we'll, It's right. Like they don't. Not my money. How do you play grand to appease this?
Starting point is 01:21:21 Why are you like what's the point of this extra squeeze I guess is my like what for? Yeah. And I don't know. We don't know where things are at. We don't know if things are very immacable or if there's huge gaps or what a gap is or if there's any, hey, we're just busy. We'll circle back in August. We don't know what's going on.
Starting point is 01:21:38 I do wonder though. Sorry. You can't say that to a kid. if you get Coronado signed, you think he doesn't think he's as good as Coronado, and you're going to tell the kid, hey, we'll get back to him,
Starting point is 01:21:51 we've got fucking time. I hope that's not the message they're sending. Well, I don't know what the message is. It's my only point. We don't know what the conversations are. It's not done. That's what we know.
Starting point is 01:21:59 Dustin Wolf's extension's not done either. I guess this is part of the problem. It doesn't seem like that difficult a thing to figure out. It'll get done, and there's zero threat. Why are you putting a squeeze on a kid when it does, like? We're assuming they're putting a squeeze on.
Starting point is 01:22:13 We don't know. Well, they are putting a squeeze because the deal's not done unless the kid is trying to put a squeeze on. Exactly. So who's being irrational? Is the team or the agent? We don't know. We don't know the numbers being traded. Maybe they're both exactly the same distance away from what a fair deal is and they end up there anyway.
Starting point is 01:22:27 We don't know. But I'll ask you this. Like, just play them at center. Okay. Sounds great. Ryan Huska, we'd like you to play this guy at center. Well, these are my top three centers. This guy is one of the best checking centers in league.
Starting point is 01:22:38 This guy scored 30 goals. And you guys just literally brought this guy in because you don't have young centers and he's 25. Okay, well, how are you getting a minute? In that, you've described three players. Who is who? Backlin, Cadre, and front. Who is the best checking, one of the best checking centers in the league? Backlin.
Starting point is 01:22:52 Not anymore. So he doesn't play, who plays tough minutes at center on this team? Well, again, it's fine, but you do this every time. I'm just asking you how you're making room for center ice for. I move backlin down. He can't play. He's 40 years old. Like, it's build.
Starting point is 01:23:09 I can't keep you the fourth line center. Build this team. He's got one. Michael Becklin has no potential to be a 90 point player. No, I agree entirely. So why were you playing him higher up the lineup than Zare? Because you need someone to play against other teams' top lines. Fourth line.
Starting point is 01:23:25 He's the best athlete that you have. Even better. Fourth line, play against the other team's top line. You got a roll. Awesome. No, I mean, we've seen Michael here for 15 years. And like the most recent iteration is him and Coleman and another guy, your checking line.
Starting point is 01:23:38 And they play a lot because other teams' top lines play a lot. If you're going to tell him he's a fourth. line, Senators will play 12, 13 minutes a night. Like, that would be one way to get center minutes for Conner's area. But Ryan Huska is coaching to keep coaching in the NHL for a contract. That's not a logical decision he's going to make, right? We acknowledge that. If you're going to burn this thing down, by all means.
Starting point is 01:24:01 But like, Huska's coach to win games. No? Huska better get. I just, I don't think by putting Michael Back at a fourth line rule, you're torpedoing the season. or the rest of the room. I'm not suggesting torpedo. It's just that you're going to have less effective defensive centermen out against
Starting point is 01:24:21 the McKinnons and McDavid's and Matthews of the world. That's the role he plays on this team. He's not an offensive dynamo. He's never been that. He's going to be 37. Yeah. Why do you need to, why do you? The team doesn't make the playoffs and and at it. Well, it's been back then and Coleman.
Starting point is 01:24:35 Yeah, it has been. And where has that got you, number one? And it's the 25, 26 seasons. Both guys are into their like late, getting into their second half of their 30s, if they're not there already. So you should be trading them then. Do you just continue to roll them out until their contracts are done?
Starting point is 01:24:52 Backlens up at the end of the year. I think they'll probably extend them and keep him as captain. Coleman's got two years left. I think you dangle him at the deadline. Rasmus gets moved. Nazim's a big question mark. I think you get stuff for him.
Starting point is 01:25:02 I'm with you. It's just that it's not what the organization is doing. They're not actively rebuilding. But he's never been this old before either. Do you know what I mean? Like time is ticked. things evolve, things change. Why are you looking to be like that?
Starting point is 01:25:15 Like, he's 37 years old. You just, this is, yeah, you're making points that are true, but so is boom. The problem is, I, you know what? It's what I always say. And it's, they don't know what the fuck they're, sorry, swore, what they're doing. And they know what they're doing, but they're, they're not choosing a path. They're letting it come to them a bit. And I like to say, and I know, you have not saying this.
Starting point is 01:25:41 a hold back a kid like Zary because Backland has to play up the line up. We'd love to know what there he is, but we never got a chance to play him at center because we had back. Figure out what he is. Play the shit out of him. If he's not a center, then he's not a center, but then you know. Yeah, and he's had less than two full seasons in the league.
Starting point is 01:25:59 I mean, it's not, if we're in year six or seven here, the Sam Bennett conversation is one we can have, but like, he gets mopped on the dot and he has a limited reps at center that were just okay. And we're arguing that he wants to be a center. Yeah, and he might not.
Starting point is 01:26:15 I don't know. I mean, it's for his markability, it's better if you can play center, but maybe he sees himself as a winner. I don't know. To me, it's less about center or wing and what you're going to put up in points. I mean, I get your thoughts on Wells, you say, you can, okay, yeah. But if he's going to be a 75, I don't know, is that a realistic number? He's been a half point per game player, his career, two years in a row. That's all we have is a sample.
Starting point is 01:26:41 think there's more ceiling there, but we didn't see the big step that you'd probably hope for. And injury was a big part of that last year. It wasn't a big part of it. It was a huge part of that. He had no chance to put up points. Yeah, he played 54 games after playing 63 the year prior. You'd love to see a healthy full season from Zeri where he piles up points and you don't even care what position he's playing because he's just creating offense. Like that's what I want to see Connor's area doing. He's creating offense. If you're going to get a less effective offensive player at center leave on the goddamn wing who cares and don't again just i don't know if it's out of sight out of mind didn't we come in and do the show a lot of days and feel like connor zeri was the most
Starting point is 01:27:23 creative guy that's what i that's more i'm weird than anyone else was making things happen boy if you had some people to play with this guy you might have something i think the the offensive instincts are great and we loved what we saw early in the season on the power play from him But again, I think also sometimes it's like, oh, it's a 23-year-old that had a half-point per game. Like, you'd love to see the stats start to match the creativity when he was good that you saw, right? Like when he's really going, like half-point per game forwards are not rare. We need to see some more of the ceiling, right? It's, it comes back to the original point where you are on Zeri.
Starting point is 01:28:09 Which is he's a really good young player that has a- You make it sound as though you could put him on waivers. Like, ah, he's half point a game. He's 20 years old. No, you definitely don't put him on waivers. He's a good young player. I think you've convinced yourself of how I feel about Conner's area. I think this is a really good middle six winger right now that has potential to be a
Starting point is 01:28:25 centerman. How do you pay that guy? I bridge him because I'm not exactly sure what it looks like. I'd play it. I just, I get it. And I don't think you're arguing philosophy. I think you'd be happy to see it.
Starting point is 01:28:35 It's just that you're using the team the way it's designed right now and saying, well, he can't be a center because he can't take that spot. and I'm arguing with, F that. And again, I don't care if he's the center, but I would rather see Huberto, Zari and Coronado
Starting point is 01:28:52 as a line than Codry or whoever else in that spot. I get it. And look, we're all on the same page where it's like, burn this thing down a bit so you can actually get really good. And let those kids play and find out what they are.
Starting point is 01:29:06 Because I don't know who's better on their death chart as a young forward. Yeah, I would have Coronado a step ahead and then no one else really is young. Yeah. And I would argue that at the start of the year, Zeri was better than Coronado. They looked better. And that's why I'm so big on Coronado because he's just taking such great leaps.
Starting point is 01:29:26 He's gone from like a guy that clearly couldn't play in the league that had to go to the A. So, okay, he's carved out a roll and he's playing bottom six to like, oh, shoot, he's starting to score. He's our best finisher now. Like that's fine, but you can't argue that Zeri's no good because Coronado is. I've never said Zerri's no good. I really like Connor's area. I like Cornado more. That's okay.
Starting point is 01:29:47 Yes, but I've asked you 1,800 times, and you're saying that Cole Reschney is more important right now that Conner's area as far as depth chart. No, you're just saying who's younger. Who's better? And you said them. Well, Reschney's a prospect. Like, we don't know what he is at the NHHil level,
Starting point is 01:30:04 but like he's a high pedigree center iceman. But why isn't Zeri in your eyes with a guy that's done what he's done? That's the confusing part. I think that Buma and I have is that you'll give the benefit of the doubt to a guy that's done F all instead of a guy that was the most dynamic, exciting, offensive threat we had for three months at the start of the year. And now he's, well, we're not sure what he is. I like the player, but it's a career high of 34 points. I'm just not going to start losing my mind. Like, that's, it's a good player that you hope starts to chase that ceiling you see offensively, right?
Starting point is 01:30:40 How we got into it was kind of what's going on? Why is there no deal? Now, the flames have announced three deals this morning for RFA is not named Conor Zeri. Rory Kerenz, Yan Kuznetsov and Jeremy Porre have all signed. You take it or leave it deals time of year. Yeah, one year, two way, this sort of, this sort of deal. So Zeri, and that's the, like, and we've said, who knows?
Starting point is 01:31:05 Maybe is the player saying, I'm not taking, I don't want a bridge? But I can't, how do I dig my heels in based on the points that I've put up? I've had good points when I'm with you. And I thought he, I thought he was in line to have a strong season before he got hurt. Are you surprised the, through 57 games, you only had 27 points or not? Like does that total feel low? Why is that bad for a kid that is what you just said he's really young. We don't know what he is.
Starting point is 01:31:36 So half a point of game is no good and you don't see upside like that. On a team that you're walking the line between say you're putting out stats that say that are you're trying to paint a picture that why would you pay him and he's not that good. Oh, I mean, and define getting paid. Like if he wants the Coronado deal, I'm not going there. I'm just not. Like the hardest thing to do in the league is score. Matthew Coronado is shown very early. He's proficient at it.
Starting point is 01:32:03 Connor's area I really like, but I'm not giving him the Coronado deal. I don't think that's an unreasonable take and I think the flames probably feel similarly. Yeah, I don't think it's an unreasonable. I think that it's probably where they're at. I don't know what the comps would be around the league. You'd have to go and look at the draft class and all that sort of thing. And this is kind of why I think that it hasn't happened
Starting point is 01:32:29 because the flames are like, we really like you. But like when we start to give this to our numbers guys and find comps, there's a lot of guys that can go a half point per game on the wing that we don't have you don't have we don't have what team doesn't have those guys you're comparing to teams that have these guys which is fine i'm not arguing that you just open up the door and give the contract you don't have those guys there ever if you're saying they're just everywhere that then what i'm saying is that he's a disposable asset comparables that aren't going to be favorable for zeri's camp if you just look at a statistical production which is why i think
Starting point is 01:33:07 there's a gap in negotiations. The team's going to say, here are your cops. And his agent's going to say, but we want the Coronado deals. Well, you didn't put up numbers of Cornell put up. You're not scoring as much. You're not as healthy as much. Year over a year, we didn't see a quantum leap. See, that's the where I still stop you and see a quantum.
Starting point is 01:33:27 He was playing. He's played two seasons. And he was one of the best, like, you're absolutely glossing over the fact he was the biggest offensive threat for a lot of games this year. With no other offense on the team. And we can't score. Look, I mean, I like the player. I just am not going to go long term if it's the Coronado number.
Starting point is 01:33:48 So I don't know. Like, it's, it's not like we're talking about a 60 point kid that's, it's 23 years old, right? We're talking about a guy with a career high with 37 points. You need to show that closer to 60 and then you'll get paid. That's how this league operates. And I don't think you're wrong.
Starting point is 01:34:11 I just think that, and we'll end this because we're just kind of spinning. I just think Rhett and I have more faith in his ability to succeed, I guess. I just, I don't get the sense that you really have much of it. Like you're saying you do. You're saying you like the player. But when you talk about him, it just sounds like you said, oh, there's a lot of guys that can get half. It sounds like he's very disposable the way you describe it. It's just, it's how contracts get done.
Starting point is 01:34:37 If you look at the comps, it's not going to be favorable for Zeri, and that's why the deal's not done. Now, if you believe there's a great certainty that he's going to be a 60 to 80 point guy every year, and it's like, shit, we got the cap space now. We are going to be tighter when this team's theoretically good down the road. Like, that's the case for the long-term deal, right? And I think you guys are in that camp. I would be more in that.
Starting point is 01:35:03 I would be more in that, for sure. I just want to see something closer to 60 before I'm paying that deal. Like last year, I just felt like you watched Coronado score and you're like, this guy's going to score like bad years, 25. Good years, maybe flirts with 40. Like he feels like a 30 goal guy. I don't know that Conner's area will ever score 30. I think he could, but I'm not like, it's happening.
Starting point is 01:35:24 We have to pay him now before he gets expensive. He doesn't have to just score. No, but just as an example. Because one guy got the long-term deal, the other didn't, right? Or hasn't yet. I yeah and again that's fine you're arguing that coronado's good i'm not arguing against that i'm saying that you don't have any young kids that look good offensively and you're not like i believe that this kid has more potential to to be in the coronado numbers the 60 to 80 points
Starting point is 01:35:55 than probably you do but he's not going to get there if you can't play him because backland and cadre are holding up the fucking center line or right they can't move up the ladder because those guys are in the way that's no good and i don't know who's coming up who's coming up the rent i don't know who's coming through in the ranks that's going to push him out of a top three centerman rule if he's a center i don't even care he's a 60 to 80 point guy he's worth a certain amount of money whether it's on the wing or at center more if at center and we'd be happier if he was at center and we would like to learn from our past mistakes which we've made plenty of in underestimating what some of these kids might be.
Starting point is 01:36:40 Blab, you're not up against the cap. You have no, who's taking the spots if he, I guess he's not leaving, but it's not, I'm more in the line that you should be pay them because I don't see, I don't see who's coming along that's going to be better. This team is not signing free agents. And if you're signing a free agent, you're spending way too much. if I overpay on counter zerry by half a million bucks a year, whatever. Now, we don't know the numbers so we can be completely out to lunch.
Starting point is 01:37:12 Maybe he wants eight. Maybe he's crazy. We don't know. So it's all speculation, but you would think that it's a Coronado type deal or the flames want a bridge. And that's what makes the most sense. So what you don't want is the San Bennett scenario. We all agree with that.
Starting point is 01:37:30 And again, it's only two years in. There's lots of time for a young man to find a spot in the lineup. Bennett felt like, what was that, like a seven-year death march? And, you know, it would just take it. It had gone too long. It needed to change. The flip side is you also don't want to probably do a Joel Farabee, who put up better numbers than Zer at the same age.
Starting point is 01:37:51 And the flyers went and paid. And all of a sudden it's like, oh, maybe we'll just, we'll do the deal. But you got to take this money off the books, too. You just traded for Joel Farabee. They did. And I think what you're seeing is like, the Flyers aren't missing Joel Farabey. He's young, but he's probably overpaid and he's a middle six winger. And I don't know.
Starting point is 01:38:17 You had 22 goals one year. I think there's better than him. But if you're going to say, you know, that's the cautionary tale is you pay a guy too soon and then you plateaus. And I don't think that's necessarily going to happen to Zeri. But that's, I think when I look at Farabee, you're like, that's a fear of why teams might not want to go along with every young. The thing with Farabee is if you take away last year, granted, he had eight goals and 50 games in Philadelphia, prior to that, 22 goals, 15, 17, 20.
Starting point is 01:38:47 So he's a 15 to 20 goal guy, maybe gets the over 20, but he's in that 15 to 20. You're paying him 5 million? Is that a terrible overpay for 15 to 20 goals? Yeah. I mean, when you look at the guy's signing, and he signed the cap is way lower, like, Andrew Magi Panney, he's going to do that for.
Starting point is 01:39:07 you in Edmonton. They're not giving them anywhere near five, right? He's playing with dry sidel. No, but my point is that you can go find a guy to get you a 15 to 20 goal guy is, is what? Is less than 5 million on the open? Then why don't the flames have a shit ton of them? Because they do have a shit ton of them. They got Igor Sharingovych. They got Farabee. They got Coleman. They got Zary. They got Huberto. They're full of guys that can get you 15, 20. That's the whole point. You need someone that can do better than that. And then you have good teams. 15 to 20s it feels like replacement level for the top nine guy right like as long as you're not an energy role it's like if you can't get 15 it's like well maybe maybe they'll go back to europe it's like what did gus nice to i don't know like you could probably get 15 to 20 look what you did red hey good job started up nicely bought some time i don't know how you and steinburgh got talking so for hours just went on apparently it's weird jack was very confused about how arb played into anything
Starting point is 01:40:11 No, it goes to Arb. It doesn't matter. Yeah. Leverage. Leverage. Should be doing pizza the day. It's a pizza day.
Starting point is 01:40:26 It's kind of pizza day. Soup day, maybe, rest. Yuck. That Shigiminy or whatever you took it to them in time. Yeah, that would be good in within years. Stand in the rain, though. Yeah. Now,
Starting point is 01:40:37 let's just drop my name. Jackal. Just letting me know you're coming by. And a fake Q's cool. Yeah. Are you playing Camtie crushed? Dean? No. Are you battling?
Starting point is 01:40:56 Did somebody hear your, your, you're, no, no, no, no, no. No. Did you get radio? People were taking runs at you on the old, uh, social medias. I don't, I don't even look. What were they saying this time? Well, just because you had said that the flames offer sheet, buy room, this and that and then. Oh, because yeah, it was, buddy Steinberg.
Starting point is 01:41:16 Steinberg said that the flames never contemplated an offer sheet. And my take was, well, yeah, if you're talking about potentially, then you're contemplating an offer sheet. And they did. They contemplated, but at the end of the day, didn't, did not want to do the offer sheet for what the price was. Yeah. And it makes sense. You look what he signed for. You're like, that's more reasonable for it.
Starting point is 01:41:43 And to give up the assets you would have to give up. You had first, the second and third in a McKinney year was told. not trading out first rest easy flames fans good not for good insight not for anyone and uh he'd love to be a flame too it's too bad too bad come on kai you get your hand on the that's right let's go i think you know what flames had some guys in the stands last night in new market yeah no points against the shit burgers can't commit this kind of money to this guy. We got the Zary deal to get done first.
Starting point is 01:42:30 That's right. No, just looking at Greta. What's going on at, Greta? Oh, what's going on this week? DJ Fatty. Not DJ Fatty. I feel like there'll be some Greta people that taking holidays after the stampede. They've got to be tuckered out. There's some
Starting point is 01:42:45 big shows. I saw something in the newspaper, some whiny bartend. I will never work it. So, good. Get that. Get there. I made $9 trillion in tips, but still, I don't care. It's a lot of hard work and I didn't like how hot out it was. Did you know it rain?
Starting point is 01:43:06 Yeah. Yeah, they got the happy hour going Wednesdays. That's what you need, boy. Hanging out, arcade games, a little pop up. Industry night. Jackie, you industry? What is industry? People that work, right?
Starting point is 01:43:25 I think we all kind of work. Yeah. Not that hard. Yeah. especially this time here. Industry. Industry. Greta Y Y.C, the place to be
Starting point is 01:43:35 213 10th Avenue Southwest. We got to come up with something. We need another. Yes, we do. We need another deal. I think you should do a 9-919. That'd be great. It's something different.
Starting point is 01:43:45 Like, that's been done. You guys did it. It was great. Well, you know what? One of you guys did it. One of you guys had a very, did the show proud, stepped up. It completed the task and the goal at hand.
Starting point is 01:43:57 The other guy was Jack. Would nine baloney sandwiches basically be the same thing? Oh, God, that'd be good, Dean. I'll bring a huge, huge selection of mustards. Yeah, I don't know that it has to be an eating challenge. Like, again, we can see you. We can move beyond. We can do different things.
Starting point is 01:44:18 I think we do a. Oh, would we do a three, three cakes of beer and, you know what I've always wanted to do that we should get rid in on? We should do an NH24 tournament, huge brown. bracket. Oh, God, that'd be good. Are you not a little bit at the mercy of the team that you get? Well, you make a global. Obviously, you go no Chicago and then you'd have to spin for a team. And if it's not within five points of total value, you got to re-spin. That's how you make the money for the charity.
Starting point is 01:44:43 That's right for the kids. Auction it off. You want Washington? You want, who was it? You want Chicago Blackhawks? You want Ronick? You want Roanick? Who was in Washington? Bondra? Peter Bonder could zip it.
Starting point is 01:45:02 Michael Pavanka at center. Oates? Oats. Oh, baby. Yeah. Pavanka, Oats and Bondra could rip it. Was Joey Juno still there?
Starting point is 01:45:13 Juno would have been there or Boston. He might have been in Boston. Boston had Oats Neely and Juno. That's where it was. Oats wasn't in Washington yet. It'd be a good place to do it. It's the only place. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:27 Now, have you played it recently? And by recently, I mean, since 95? Oh, yeah, yeah. I brought it up to my first paying gig in Fort St. John, and we'd play after work every day. It was unbelievable. It was nothing else to do. That's still a long time ago. That's not recently.
Starting point is 01:45:40 No, and so I'm just walking through. That was 0607. Okay. And then when I have it literally plugged into a TV in our house and the boys are like, this sucks. Why does this game so bad? I'm like, oh, yeah, it's a show 94 boys. NBA jam T.E.
Starting point is 01:45:54 I get the second Genesis. There is some danger of that. Like guy running the marathon. on around the bases. You don't be a great idea. Yeah. If we had a tournament playing at NHL 94, then you start this is no, it's a great game. It's aged very much. Graphics are awful.
Starting point is 01:46:09 Can't play this. What are we doing? Low. Because it was in 93 where guys could bleed, right? And then they changed it. Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to make Griske's head bleed for a superfan 99 over here. There's a line in swingers. Uh, I think Leslie would be in. I think it was Leslie I was talking to who just loves it. He's, he's sure he's good at 94. we could get a Celebrity 94 bracket going.
Starting point is 01:46:30 Good credit. Sure. What was that baseball one? RBI baseball? Ken Griffey. RBI. RBI is pretty good. The Ken Griffey one is hilarious because they all had fake names except Ken Griffey,
Starting point is 01:46:42 but they'd all have like the same builds and numbers of real players. They clearly hadn't bought the PA rights. I forget which baseball game it was. But I, so you're playing, you're in the field and it's a base hit. And I would say I would just throw first. So runner there, the computer gets a double. Guy standing at second. And all I would do is like throw to first, throw to second, throw to first over.
Starting point is 01:47:07 And the play by play guy couldn't keep up. So it's just be over to first. Back to second. Throws it to first in there to second. Back to first. Over to second leaves it to first. Over to second. In there with a double.
Starting point is 01:47:21 That was good times. Jack in 1990 something. when I was in, I was at college, the school of Hard Knox, learning how to do this trade and look where it got me, money well spent. We didn't have TVs in her room, barely had TVs. And what we would do is we would watch hockey night in Canada. And then at some point, that would end. And we would turn on the Sega Genesis, and it was NHL 92, I believe, at the time. And just put it on the, I forget what the mode was even, just like the demo mode.
Starting point is 01:48:01 And we would just watch. Yeah, just hang out. The two teams play. There was a little bit of play by play. You could put some money down on who you thought was going to win. Yes, this is familiar. So we would sit there and just watch the video game play itself. You know what?
Starting point is 01:48:16 During COVID, we did that. We'd do the simulation of basketball, hockey, football, and we just bet on it. It was awesome. D. Jans, just great. D-Gen behavior. Jack, I sent you something. Did you get? Good ties.
Starting point is 01:48:32 Well, Greta. Lots of options, Dean. Lots of options. I don't know that you can go and do that today. Watch NHL 92 play itself on Sega Genesis, but maybe they go. It's raining out. They may have one in the back or downstairs.
Starting point is 01:48:47 Is there an age restriction for this? Because I could, my kids would jam in there. Yeah, I think it's 18 plus. Yeah. Yeah. We got to earn that kind of fun. Yeah. We'll plan something.
Starting point is 01:48:58 Love Greta. opt for just about everything or anything. Probably to the detriment even. Yeah. Oh yeah. You want to vomit all over the place after eating nine hot dogs? Come on in. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:49:10 Speaking of video games, my one kid yesterday, he's talking. And whatever, you know, I'm kind of listening, but not really. And he's like, well, I got to get my marks up. Like, yeah, okay, yeah, yeah. No, because my marks aren't good enough. So it's all right. So what do you? Well, so I went into the portal.
Starting point is 01:49:36 And so I wasn't, I wasn't playing at Ohio State. So I went in the portal and now I'm at Florida State. So I'm playing for the Seminoles now. He's the new college football game is out. So I was awesome in high school. Life is tough. And then I went to, I went to Ohio State. I didn't even play.
Starting point is 01:49:55 I couldn't get on the field. So then I was going to go into the portal, but I had to get my marks. up. That's good, son. Real busy at the home front, eh? So he knows what he needs to do. It's just where he implies it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:50:10 Yeah, the messaging, it's there. You just got to decipher it. Cut through the chaff and recognize it, I suppose. Oh, God. Thank you, Jack. University of Florida researchers deploy robotic rabbits across South Florida to fight Burmese Python explosion. I don't want to be anywhere where there's a Burmese python explosion.
Starting point is 01:50:35 I'm with you. Either in population or like in a combustible sense. That's a new weapon they're using. It's a bomb of Burmese pythons. I don't want to be anywhere either. I hate them. But if I've got rabbits beside me, I'm feeling better. Look at them.
Starting point is 01:50:52 There's a rabbit. Robos. Stupid pythons. Show the next one, Jack. There's another one. I didn't see that you sent to. Oh, this is the one that I feel pretty good about. The Rett report brought you by.
Starting point is 01:51:15 This needs to be the last show we do for a while, right? Yeah, we're gone for a bit. We did a good job with the Zaire. We had an argument. We were really, right, you saved the show today, honestly. We had some good food chat. Pizza Day Tuesday, Rhett. No, Dean.
Starting point is 01:51:30 Can we go at four? Sure. Why not? Because I wanted to do Spiro's. I don't know. The shameless plugs. Maybe we do a Monday 4 p.m. You want to do that? I mean, it's summer.
Starting point is 01:51:45 We can do it how we want. Can't. I got more medical. Can we do four? Okay, sure. I can't do it. I can do it on. Did he just say that?
Starting point is 01:51:54 Yeah. Can we do it at four? Yeah, sure. I don't care. Yeah, I can't do it. I can't make it. All right, Jack. Let's see.
Starting point is 01:52:03 Ranking the NFL play. Oh, read the headline, Jack. Settle down. headline. Geez. How down. Ranking NFL playoff teams from most to least likely to return to the postseason for 2025.
Starting point is 01:52:15 Okay. So teams that were playoff teams. Right. And the likelihood that they will get back once again this year. Number one, the Buffalo Bills. Very good team. Love the bills. Well, Eagles, yeah, fly.
Starting point is 01:52:32 Makes sense. Super Bowl champs. Yeah. Ravens, yeah. Pretty good. Chiefs. Always going to be there. You see the new bucks, the new old bucks, unies that look awesome. Awesome.
Starting point is 01:52:43 Get rid of those videos on the sign. Yeah, click off Josh there. Come on. Oh, they tricked you. They get the sucker X for you there. This is why you go to the last one anyway? I already know where this is going. What's the last one?
Starting point is 01:52:56 What's number seven? Seven was the Rams. Well, I think we're leading towards a certain. No, you're going the wrong way. Wrong way, Jack. That's right. Down, down, wrong, rockers, Vikings, commanders, commanders, Texans, chargers, chargers, oh, Steelers.
Starting point is 01:53:16 Based off mutual need rather than true compatibility. 41-year-old Roger, is he 41, Jack? Yeah, it's hardly a natural fit for Smith. Fruitful marriage likely require offensive coordinated to adjust. No guarantee that the signal caller can leave behind the many issues that plagued him. With the Ravens remaining the class of the division and the Cincinnati Bengals, more equipped to give them a push, Steelers can't afford to waver in what could be a heated AFC playoff race.
Starting point is 01:53:50 I don't know if Cincinnati can defend a cold rate now. They can't defend anything. They're so bad. And their first round pick hasn't even signed yet. Apparently is going back to college and then reentering the draft. That's how it's going in Cincinnati. Ohio to Florida. for the Seminoles.
Starting point is 01:54:05 He went to portal. Went to the portal. He got to his marks up. He was impressed with your kid talking about getting his marks up. F. Ohio State. Couldn't get off the bench. Clipboard. Tough.
Starting point is 01:54:19 Betts. Betts. Bet 365. Official gaming partner of Barnburner and after burner. And back burner. Bet 365. Be 19 or older. Get the app.
Starting point is 01:54:37 Use the code. when you sign up, whatever your bet is. It's never ordinary at bet 365. Two bets. We're looking at tomorrow night. Stampeters rolling. They're dogs in Winnipeg. We're going to take them on the money line straight up.
Starting point is 01:54:52 They wallop the bombers. You said it. They're coming off by. They're going to be angry. But the stamps simply o'classed them two weeks ago for the stampede bowl. And also, we are going to roll the dice on the first score of the game being a stampedeers touchdown. That pays plus three-fills.
Starting point is 01:55:08 They've been getting out of the gate really nicely. VA's putting some drives together early. Go Stamps. Yeah, you can just sprinkle in there, hey? Just a little sprinkle. Plus 350, get a little pepper. Put a little pepper on there. Please play responsible.
Starting point is 01:55:25 Please be responsible. Yeah, come on. Let's go, Stamps. Yeah, it's coming up tomorrow in Winnipeg. Big game. I've never been to the stadium there, but it looks nice. Yeah, it's a new one. for sure for sure i think it was what ottawa there
Starting point is 01:55:41 regina those are the new stadia in the league stadia i the regina one is not really new anymore yeah one was it 10 years ago it's nice maybe more than that time i mean as long as the outdoor game was 2013 wasn't it yeah like when were you there for the outdoor game bill peters era that was a short window yeah Time for RETs top five.
Starting point is 01:56:09 Oh, good. It's back. Rets top five. I brought a lot today. I felt like maybe. You know what? Better late than never, indeed. You were awesome. Do I do cakes?
Starting point is 01:56:22 Open in 2017, eight years old. That's Sask or Winnipeg? Mosaic. Rets top five. Rets top five. Top five CFL pals. Top five CFL teams. No, you can't put me on the spot.
Starting point is 01:56:46 I don't want to. You got a great hat there, but I don't want to. It's not top one, top five. Let's go. Top five in the standings or top five in my heart. Top five of your offspring. No. No.
Starting point is 01:57:05 Top five girlfriends? Top five brunettes. Give me the list of movies. I'll give you the top five to go to. No. We do have a list of Jack's movies he's got to watch. You want to rank for you? I want something that's going to connect with you in your heart.
Starting point is 01:57:31 We had a great conversation. Sorry, Ryan, when you missed the show the other day, we had a great talk about the Kirkland Trail mix. Oh, real good. Is it a winner? Outdoordental.com. Yeah. Outdoor.
Starting point is 01:57:46 Dot dental. Thank you. Not. Outdoor.com. Top five things to get at the Calgary's Farmers Market. Okay. Oh, guess where he's going for lunch? Yes, indeed.
Starting point is 01:57:59 Yes, I am. There is a snossage place there. Snoss the chorizo breakfast wrap. It's got the Chipotle, the scrambled eggs. They put the tater tots in there. Oh, baby. So good. Parogis and chicken schnitzel from the Ukrainian market.
Starting point is 01:58:21 The taco trio from the Mexican place. What else do I get? The butter chicken from chefs. Kitchen? I could go on and on, actually. Well, I was going to say, that's four. I can keep going. I can have a second top of five.
Starting point is 01:58:40 The tuna melt from Wayne's bagels. Oh, I do like Wayne's. Yeah. That's five. snossage thing parochies and Ukrainian schnitzel the taco trio
Starting point is 01:58:56 the butter chicken and Wayne's tuna melt how many are you to eat today out of five I'd like to touch them all the other problem is that there's a salad at the Indian place that's quite good the burrito
Starting point is 01:59:13 I actually had the nachos at the Mexican place the day out of this world the sushi's good they must get so excited when they see you walk in. Yes, he's bad. You love cabbage rolls, Dean. You don't like yourself some cabbage rolls.
Starting point is 01:59:27 I love cabotrels. Touch them all, Rhett. You'll never eat a bigger one. To the point, you know what? Remember that Joan Jett song? I love rock and roll. We'd sing I love cabbage rolls. And that's at the food end of the side.
Starting point is 01:59:45 And then there's always the soup testing station. You got to try the soup. Those are always phenomenal. I don't think that's for the public to do, but you do it. You just kind of take a spoon in there. Then there's a barbecue spot. The brisket is phenomenal. Then there's a Turkish place.
Starting point is 02:00:04 And the Turkish place, the coffee, it's like Cuban coffee down at Key West. You get on that shit and you're going. Like, go. It's awesome. And right beside the Turkish place is the pie place. They're not cheap. Delicious. Good.
Starting point is 02:00:19 Rubarb. Strawberry rhubarb. Real good. All of it. My buddy, Tom Dobbin said he could never have rhubarb because he always watched the cats piss on it when he was a kid and he couldn't get out of his mind. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:00:31 It's reasonable. He was growing in our yard. He's a weak-minded individual. He really is. Really going to let it soak in the sink a little longer. Just give it out of the rinse. You know what I don't like is the Turkish get-up. It's fucking hard.
Starting point is 02:00:45 Get up. Oh, what? You had to exercise? Yeah. It's the last time. you did one of those lay down and hold the thing oh how am i supposed to i can barely get up as it is guys i'm holding the weight up in the air with one arm and i'll just hold it here for a while is that good enough how about how about just the boomer get up that's a challenge that's a that's my exercise
Starting point is 02:01:05 okay lay down on the ground okay and then get up see i knew there i knew there was going to be something you're going to make me get up after i lay down i'm not paying for this jack you ever done the turkish get up no i have not it's kind of like the walk of shame but different yeah super chats rey got some money rolling in for the youth centers of calgary today there you see at the y y y c youth centers of calgary because calgary's y y c and that was that oh big fat guy with a couple bucks he says with the schedule out return of the barn burner road trip probably question mark there is a query or is he saying that it's i think he's making a statement schedule's out it is time for the return pushing already we had a comment about it last time when he
Starting point is 02:02:05 wasn't on where yeah there's probably things more pressing to barn burner than getting a road trip or a florida outdoor game i add the burmese pythons dean's not do the flames have to be playing in it or can we just go somewhere i can do whatever we want i i don't mean that it necessarily is a shot although clearly it sounds like one right now Yeah, the draw would be if the play's But we could just go and have a friggin' good time somewhere. Jack, Jack, check the penguin schedule and see if they play at home, the weekend, the bills are in Pittsburgh,
Starting point is 02:02:47 and we'll talk these two idiots, him to go into that. Yeah, like it doesn't. It's a trip. What about Chargers Steelers in L.A. in November, Jack. You said you're already going to be there. I'm going to be there. How does he plan this far out? Dude, how do you guys not plan this far out?
Starting point is 02:03:07 This is how you get flights for not a billion dollars. You got to book them like a year out. Listen, $1,000 to Saskatchew and what's a big deal. Oh, my God. And it is. He's not lying. Also, the croc, madame or monsieur from the French sandwich joint that has the crapes. Ooh, you should try one of those, Dino.
Starting point is 02:03:32 You're not going to be disappointed. I can never tell if I like the madame or the masseur. I think it's the crock madame. I prefer a madame personally. Schedule out return of Barnburner road trip. Yeah, I mean, yeah. Things are working on things. We'll see.
Starting point is 02:03:48 Wheels are in motion. I was told I was going to be in touch with. I had a phone call. And then I'll send you something tomorrow. And not a month ago. So just hang on to your hat, big fat guy. Yeah, it's a big frat guy. Just keep waiting, buddy.
Starting point is 02:04:03 Hey, big fat guy. Just stay tuned. A big fat guy is a huge Tigers fan. He's going to be a little sore with the McKenna departure, amongst others. Oh, really? Great year. Big MacG back guy. It was nice that the Tigers are doing McKinna a favor by going up to Yellowknock to play a couple exhibition games.
Starting point is 02:04:20 I think they thought that was going to be their secret sauce. So here's what we've got. Here is the plan. We're going to start the year in Yellowknife. Can you get Penn State in the phone, please? Get me the fuck out of here. So they're offering you how many? Oh, 750.
Starting point is 02:04:39 Yeah. Well, why don't we just do an exhibition game? Yeah. And we'll give you $40. And you can still make $180 a month. Deal? I saw one of those contracts that the money has gone way up. From when I played.
Starting point is 02:04:55 How high. Well, it actually. I've also talked to some people who said when they played as an overager, and they were only playing hockey that I'm not paying for rent I'm not paying for food I'm a guy I've had a bill at us I've never it was all beer money I've never had that much disposable income in my life
Starting point is 02:05:13 I actually think that the starting whatever I don't maybe every year that's what she doesn't change but it used to go year every year you got more yeah yeah I think what the overage guys what you just brought up is what everybody gets to I'm not saying Cam Moon was out to just lay around and drink beer he wasn't at as he's that often actually because sometimes he went to the pat probably trying to really
Starting point is 02:05:38 at the sutherland further his career casino baseball bat scene great movie casino you're watching jack just texting me as he's watching oh man this is wild ace is crazy yeah crazy Sharon stone crazy oh she ever yeah that bird ruined it all don't do drugs kids don't do drugs kids do it don't do it baseball that's right at the end right i love that denaro would take his pants off in his office i'm just going to hang my slacks here in the closet don't want him to get all creased up got my got my sock garters on which have really kind of are not a thing anymore do you guys wear garter belts on your socks it's got to be fancy i've never seen them in person but i know i want garters for when i start when i first played probably half my career yeah
Starting point is 02:06:35 For socks or for your jock or for your socks? Songs attached to the jock for the sock. For the hockey socks. I got you. 27.99. Woo. Jeremy. Jeremy.
Starting point is 02:06:47 Oh, hey. Fellas. The flames are as usual, very unpredictable. What will get from them the season? From them. What do you guys feel about it? You're concerned? Not interested.
Starting point is 02:07:05 Are you like me? Where you're pumped for the Wranglers? I brought up the Wranglers the other day. Jeans? I don't squeeze into Wranglers very well. I got the wrong build. Got the wrong hoop? Your ass too big?
Starting point is 02:07:19 I feel like they're for the big hoop, though, aren't they? Because I've seen some big hoops and wranglers. Not long ago either. Hey, the big dump. She fucking wedged that thing in there, but the big bumper. They got a great 30 home runs at the brinkers. break half a bottle of crisco to get in those uh to answer your question i'm confused about what the flames are yes still interested but confused i'll say this i like now it's don't mistake
Starting point is 02:07:49 inactivity for for for doing nothing it's by design i'm glad that there's not well we should get this guy because maybe he could cut okay you could go and sign jack rosslovick or whatever and let him play or this team is not what this team needs right now. No. Let the kids cook. And the rank is also good guys next year. Bristavich second year.
Starting point is 02:08:13 Griddon's first pro year. Sunni has first pro year. Bash's first pro year. Well, and remember last year we talked to Huska. He was, I want Gridden to come in and make this team. I want him to be thinking he's ready for the NHL to make this team next year. He's very good in the queue last year. That's right.
Starting point is 02:08:35 We should get Huska on. 2799. I feel like we, we got to give him a little more than that. Jeremy deserves more. So sure. The, yeah. New coaching staff down there.
Starting point is 02:08:47 Slots and. Ruffington. Yeah. Youth. Do you know, Lifton? Yeah, he's been, he's brought,
Starting point is 02:08:55 he's been skating my kids. Oh, nice. Very good. Okay. Excellent. That's good to hear. Hell of a skate. Hitman need a new head coach now.
Starting point is 02:09:02 You see that? Stinking all. You want to do it? I don't know. It seems like a lot of work, Dean. Yeah, I was going to say. A lot of travel and a lot of work. Geez.
Starting point is 02:09:11 Here's the thing. We'd like you to be the coach, Rhett. Okay. But the thing is, we're going to need you to be the coach. See, I like the first part, but I didn't know you were going to add that second part. Yeah, I like the thought of being the coach. Coach the hipman. Yeah, that'd be good.
Starting point is 02:09:25 Yeah. So what do you need for me? You all coach the team? Not really. I mean, it's really good. We do shares these? I'm good. I'm a team guy.
Starting point is 02:09:34 I'll come to games, but I don't want to be on the bench. I'll be in the suite. Oh, I like being on the bench. I like yablon at the reps. Yeah. Too many. Phyllis! Is that 2799 worth?
Starting point is 02:09:53 My old goaltender, Devin, Devin Hanson. Yeah, yeah. He said, yeah, you're going to be a good coach. Well, let us know how it works out then. Yeah, I got my, Jack, use that AI and write up an application, would you?
Starting point is 02:10:10 Get a thing put in. you get a cover letter resume all that cb make it look real good make it look real good jack real good really good jeremy is this oh wow he must have won one of those those scratch offs i was gonna say it's powerball in her oh that's money i say again i say phallence making a steak for the girlfriend oh oh hey oh what's seasoning or saucer should i do
Starting point is 02:10:45 Pinder, what is Zeri's new contract? Two thousand three ways to do a steak, you can marinate it. If you're going to marinate it, you get the Worcester out, and you get a steak spice, Montreal, whatever your favorite is. You put it in there and let it marinate real, real nice. Second way is you do a blacket steak. That's more of a rib-eye cut to put that bad boy on the grill. And the third way you do the steak is on the cast iron on the stove,
Starting point is 02:11:12 butter, herbs, all that stuff. You kind of flip it on top, then you paste for a little bit. Oh, shut the front. Yeah. He's gone. He lost right. Buddy mine used to take, he'd take the stakes day of with olive oil, the Worcestershire. Worcester.
Starting point is 02:11:31 And just a little bit of Jack Daniels. Just a little bit of Jack Daniels. I don't know what the point of that was. I don't know if that flavor. Just flavor, I guess, right? It's going to cook off and all that. Flavor country. I'll tell you, you got to really not have your shit together to mess up a good rib eye.
Starting point is 02:11:49 Here's, you know what else, Dean? That's a good point by you. Jeremy, the key, see how I did that? Because his last name. Jeremy Key. So the key to that, what you're trying to accomplish is not about the sauce or the seasoning. It's about where you get your meat. It's true.
Starting point is 02:12:10 Ooh, I can quibble there. We know good. And it's the easiest thing in the world. I feel for people that think they have to, I've got to get some steaks. Well, what kind do I get to go with the, well, they don't have that kind here. What kind kind should I get?
Starting point is 02:12:29 One of these frozen, they're on sale. These frozen. Yeah. It says previously frozen 30% off to cook tonight. Take the steak and slap yourself across the face with it. And then throw in the garbage because that's where it belongs. How'd boy, Jeremy. Oh my God.
Starting point is 02:12:53 Jeremy again. That's a good question. I did win a Powerball. I have seen Braveheart when I was young. Is that Mel Gibson? I'll never take your freedom, Jack. Don't remember it at all. Is it worth another watch?
Starting point is 02:13:08 Oh, yeah, yeah. Is that an Oscar winning performance, Dean? I believe it was. I think so. Did you watch any of the sports things last night? No. Shane Gillis had some funny jokes. It was awesome.
Starting point is 02:13:21 It was hilarious. Real tough room. my god, Jeremy, another one. Definitely went in scratchoffs. Retro, did you ever have a tilt with someone that made the shoveler go, how are you doing? How you doing? Well, she dated a lot of people, so I did.
Starting point is 02:13:44 Oh, geez. Dated. Very social. Butterfly. Worked in a bar. What am I going to do? Meet a lot of people. What are you doing, Jeremy?
Starting point is 02:14:05 super dope hip hop buck 99 good fellas big lobowski palt fiction three of the goats jack have you seen pulp fiction i have and it's so confusing well it's not chronological i've watched it like three times jesus jack i'm tarantina man it's not back at least big labowski is one of my favorites it's a slow burn and the more you watch it the better it gets so you might not like it the first time what about kill bill not as good as both flex no i know i'm not asking you i'm asking jack for movies it's just right out stoned all day and just watch movies i've got so many movies to watch you do i'm thinking about taking the boys through the uh the full metal jacket oh Toon oculips now dude yeah oh yeah hamburger hill real feel good yeah uplifting stuff
Starting point is 02:15:06 Are they too young? Stop the oldest year Youngest one yeah I'd let the youngest you know Smurfs Dino question are we just dragging us out because I got nothing to do so I literally guess I had big plans today I was gonna go Eight second good or bad because of Stampede I was talking We were talking about bulls and how tough they were, the bull riders, and how great they are. Told my kid, you should watch eight sec and Lane Frost.
Starting point is 02:15:38 Yeah. I see, I remember I remember liking it. It's been a long time since I've seen it. I'll bet you Clint Black's probably singing in there. Probably is. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know if, like I do wonder how, what the rodeo folk thought of it.
Starting point is 02:15:56 Because it was, you know, kind of based on a true story type of thing. I mean, yeah, I do wonder if it's not going to be super exciting for today's youth like Jack. We had Jack naming 80s bands earlier in the show. It was pathetic. Yeah, tough go. Tough go. Going with the gun and a rose. That's guns and roses.
Starting point is 02:16:21 That's guns and roses. That's heart. I figured it out. Heart. Yeah. Heart symbol. That's heart. That's a band.
Starting point is 02:16:27 Yeah. Heart. Is that a mosquito? No, it's a wasp, Jack. Is that a vole? No. No. Rat.
Starting point is 02:16:38 Round and round. Goes around. All right. All right. Let's go on board. All right. Did we do all we have to do, Jack? Is that it for?
Starting point is 02:16:52 Yeah, that's all. Nice. For July 17th. Are you kidding me? Yeah. Smooth two hour and 20 minutes. show on July 17th. I mean, what the hell are we doing?
Starting point is 02:17:03 It is ruined the whole show. We would have been out of here an hour ago. I'm sorry, boys. I owe you a burrito from the place down the street. As soon as the sidewalk gets cleaned up. Where the sidewalk is. What about that? Not a good movie.
Starting point is 02:17:20 I love George. Dusty. Not a good movie. Have you seen that one, Jack? Heartland. No. Is it actually called Heartland? Is that what it's called?
Starting point is 02:17:32 No, I don't think it's a show called Heartland. It's the TV show they shoot South of California. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've seen that. Sing a song about the heartland. Dusting. Let's go. I get to push the button.
Starting point is 02:17:48 Jack. I don't have the button. Dean, have a great vacation, wouldn't you? Yeah, thanks, boys. Support the sponsors. We got some great recorded interview. content coming down the pipe. Someone waiting in this very room to get
Starting point is 02:18:05 some plates from both time. Is there someone in the room waiting? Patiently as we do a two hour and 20 minute show on July 17. Can you scan the room and show us who it is? And that guy does not deserve to be left sitting. That guy does not deserve to be left waiting. Why did you have him come in and add a few comments? We could have had him on
Starting point is 02:18:23 just. Friend of the show. Ask him about Zeri. That'll take. I will ask him. Yeah. You guys will be going. You'll still be going by next Tuesday when it's time for the next show. And we break in live to ongoing coverage and counters very has been signed. Jesus. Oh, Jack, how was the show today? Great show.
Starting point is 02:18:44 I mean, really dragged on. And thanks for joining, Red. Shut up, Jack. See you, buddies.
