Here we are fresh as a daisy on a Monday. Some of us were in New York City. Wow. Some of us barely left the house at all. No, what you did, though. I did. I saw you for three hours doing athletic type things and socializing yesterday. And it was awesome.

I like the Yankee hat. How was the stadium this weekend? You were off to see the Yanks and the Jays. It was good. The weather cooperated perfectly. Some nice pitching on both sides. Yeah, it was, actually. It was a pretty good weekend for ball.

It's always fun going. You're one of the larger turncoats in fandom we've ever known in our lives. You're wearing Yankees at today. We know the shoveler would have been wearing Yankees gear in the stadium, but you also, you know, you're tight with Josh Donaldson, had the Jay's jersey. Tight with Josh Donaldson. Oh, they're homies.

Yeah. So I'd like talk about torn allegiances. How did you merchandise this weekend? Tell us about the get up. I was extremely safe in my apparel. My choice of apparel. I played it safe. There's no sense ruffling feathers.

and getting in a kerfuffle. You're in good seats, but I do think it is Yankee Stadium. That's probably good policy. It's a pretty white collar there. There's a couple of that side. It's very, the Jay's fans were abundant, and they were having fun, and the Yankees fans were having fun with them.

I actually think the Yankees fans, if you went to Philly in the playoffs, not a safe place, or for a football game, Pittsburgh Steelers, Maybe even Boston is not overly friendly. Yankees fans, they're all good. So you've been to new Yankee and old.

Only, only new. Okay, good. I've only been to the old, and they had a separate entrance and exit for the bleachers. The bleachers are like a different stadium. You cannot mill about. You can't go to the concourse. It's essentially like a window from a jail into a baseball game. They're not allowed to leave there.

And so that is the most dangerous place at the stadium. I imagine they tried to recreate that kind of, there still is the bleats or creatures in the outfield. Yeah, it's not the same. It's, it's very sterile. How would you describe it? It's a mall attached to a... It's very big and gray and sterile and...

It's very nice. Yeah. It's very nice. It's not the nicest park you're going to go to, but it is Yankee Stadium. I said to the shoveler when I was there, I was like, is there a bigger venue to step out and play at? I'm sure because we're not as big into soccer over here. I don't know. What's the big soccer?

I don't even know. I don't believe it would be a famous one. But if you said at one point in your life, yeah, I played at which venue would you want it to be? Well, I feel like Lambo would be in there. That's like, what, 80,000 people in Green Bay? That's like an epic one. But to me, I would say, and you pooped on it last week. It's Madison Square Garden.

That's the mecca. When you think of the concerts, championship fights, it's all been at MSG. There's the big house in Ann Arbor, 110,000-ish. That's where the Leafs and Wings did. And that's not even close to a classic.

That's a big, loud, cool place to go to. But that's not, that's not Yankee Stadium or MSG or Fenway or Wrigley. Like if you're a musician. Right? If you're a musician or whatever, If you sold out the garden

Or if you were playing Madison Square Garden Doesn't get a lot bigger than that They call CEM in L.A. But yeah, I think it's probably, I'm with you. MSG's big, but Rhett totally shot that down in the last week. Wanted no part of it. Son of a bench.

No. I think, I was thinking more of sports, I guess. Retro, you played in the garden. One's more. You're that guy. I know, that's why maybe it's not. This guy that, this person that you're talking about. I know. Yeah, that's true.

it be like to step out and play in one of these states? You've done it many times. So your congratulations. Play a playoff game against Gretzky and Messiae at MSG. Oh, I'm not going in there. So the Yankees won their first year. In New York's. The cost of tickets was quite high.

I'll say that. Astronomical. So high, you only got in three games. In behind the place. No, not necessarily. the Yankees games, you meet head for the Rangers. I heard it was a thousand bucks was sort of what was the going rate on secondary sites. And that's U.S., and that's a big deal.

And that was not for high-end seats. Right. Not high-end seats. Those are. I think they sort of took the temperature in all 16 markets around the NHL, and New York was far and away the most expensive ticket. And you get it. Like the hype's been building for a couple years now.

They've got a great team. They add Kane and Teresanko at the deadline. I mean, the vibes. have been really good around the hockey team in New York all year. So I'm surprised it's that high, but not surprised it's the most expensive ticket in the NHL postseason right now. And they're playing the Devils.

Yes, totally. Yeah, great point. So what would you say having been there for the weekend? What's got the bigger buzz, the Rangers or the Knicks? I think the Rangers, to be quite honest with you. Because fans poured out MSG after the Nick game and they shut down 7th Avenue or whatever. the hell it was like they were going crazy yesterday yeah i don't follow the baseball enough so or

the basketball enough so maybe maybe it is a yeah maybe it is basketball so they're up three one against the calves in a series of two teams that no one really thinks going to win it yeah but for the next god yeah no it's that's serious to win a playoff series is yeah uh so did any any good meals did you see any shows comedy did you go for a uh carriage ride with Beeferino in Central Park. Beeferino. No. Did you call the shoveler beeferino?

No. I was wondering what was happening there. Seinfeld. Kramer. The horse. The farts. Wasn't it beeferino? Beeferone.

Beeferone. Yeah, I know that's what it is, but he calls it. Anyway, so what did you do? Nothing. We went to the games. No, we went to a restaurant called Beauty in Essex,

which is kind of cool. It's the Tao group of restaurants. They've got different ones about. Would you have? They've got the, would you have? Would you have? What'd you have?

Pond shop kind of thing. And then it's this secret door to the bag. Oh, yeah. Speakeasy. What did I have? Swingers. I had Korean fish tacos. They were phenomenal.

We had tomato soup dumplings. Oh, very interesting and good. We had some scallops jumbalaya. Boom, boom. Some scallops. Jumbalaya. So good. It's a very popular place.

A lot of, a lot of stars here, Rhett. Very highly reigned. Good vibes. And I think just a tuna taco, which was okay. Hmm. Did you sushi it up?

I did not sushi it up. We went to, we were going to go to the Book of Mormon last night, go to a play, but stupidly didn't buy the tickets. Right. Had looked, booked the tickets to the,

to the baseball game and then said to the Chevrolet's, there's lots of tickets available. If we feel it going after the game, we'll just book them then. Just wheeling hot. Grab some off a scalper. So we just walked over to Italy, Mario's place and sat down there and taste tested a few things there.

And ate so much pasta that by the time you're done, yeah. Comatose. This restaurant looks fancy. It was good. Again, the weather was perfect. It was supposed to rain all day. So 3-0 in the playoffs should be you would feel like that's good enough of a lead.

3-0. It's a normal team, yeah. Even if it's in the first period, you still feel like, guys, fellas, we got to be able to hang on to this. But as we've talked about all year, it's been a record-breaking year for high-scoring games and blown leads and come from behinds, We saw it last night in what I honestly feel would have been a crippling loss for the Oilers. I think 3-1, they don't come back. It's tough, right? You've got to win three of the next three.

Right. Like it's, yeah. Yeah. They score late to tie it and then get a overtime goal from Zach Hyman. Oilers, five, four winners in overtime. And yet, what's your level of surprise when after 20 minutes, it's 3-0, that this game would get to overtime or even get to top? I don't feel like anyone in this province has been surprised at all.

We've seen it continuously throughout the year. It was almost a running joke early in the season. If the Oilers get down 2-0, it's the easiest bet in hockey. My surprise is more on the Kings side. That they folded? That they would give up that lead. There's just so much clock left. Like to think the Oilers could score four goals in the final 40 minutes, obviously.

But I didn't think that the Kings were necessarily done either. Yeah. I just thought if they get another one or two, that's nail in the coffin. You have to give credit to the Oilers. Now, I don't think that Corpusala was terrific in someone. I didn't like the cane goal to tie it, and I didn't like the winner. Did the cane one go off a stick? It looked like he kind of lost his net.

He was sliding all. Anyway, it's little things, but you have to give credit to the Oilers because earlier in this series, Drysidal says we got to be more mature. It's about maturity. We got to find a way. And they found a way. They chipped away at it. And it's not, you said it earlier, this isn't Connor McDavid doing everything.

Yeah. Go ahead. I disagree with you. I think it was all on Corpusallo. I don't think the Oilers, I mean, sure, they came back, but the Oilers don't win that game. If Corpus Allen doesn't sieve out, and if they're going to score on those kinds of shot, it's not because they're better team. I do like the sieve out term.

But no, but no. Make a safe. Right. Make a say. Yeah. And he's kind of the reason they're up to one at this point. So it's not like throw them out and like, geez, I'll tell you, if you had to tell Oilers fans that going to Jack Campbell down three,

potentially going down three, one in a series, the vibes would be, ugh. But again, it's the fucking Oilers. You knew they were going to at least get this thing within one. Start of the second. Like I put money down first intermission because I was like, I'm sorry. Like it's paying five and a half to one. Like they're better than that.

Campbell makes three, four, five saves on that gold mouth scramble. And then another one happened about three, four minutes later. I just think if it goes four and, Nothing there? Probably, yeah. Because then Campbell, who hasn't played in how long, his confidence is already teetering. The breakaway save on Arvinson's the big one I don't remember. That's huge.

That had a chance to make it 5'3 and that's curtains there. I know you'll want to give credit to Kenny Holland. For the Jack Campbell signing, yeah. Jack Campbell. He gets all the credit for that one. Evander Kane ties it. Zach Hyman, his free agent edition wins it. Yeah.

So Ken Holland, his fingerprints all over this win last night. Yeah, he's been here for four years. just fingerprints aren't everything except the Leon and Connor contracts, right? Yeah. We were talking about it this morning. Your boy, your boy Leon, your boy Leon, oilers have not scored at five on five without dry sightal being involved in the goal. I think all the goals they've had he's been on the ice for, not beyond five on five.

It might be. Wild, because he's on the first power play in it. I don't know they've scored a shorty. It's, uh, he's, he's been the leader of this group of this series. Read whatever you want to that. I saw him back checking his ass off. I'm like, who's wearing dry saddle's jersey? I haven't seen that ever.

Like, busting his ass the length of the ice. It's your boy. He's a big gentleman. Better than McDavid. You said it right from the start. Yeah, he did. Yeah. I did.

But who's been a better team? Like, that's the thing. You give the orders, sure, give him some credit. They've hung around. They've had to battle and bought. I don't give him a ton of credit because I think Corpuselho. Let in a couple softies yesterday. Whatever.

I think L.A.'s outplayed them. See, I would say Edmonton should be winning this series and are not, but I think when you say team, like L.A. looks like a 20-man unit. The Oilers look like two lines and a shamble of defense

and some saves now and then. It's tough. When you say who's the better team, I don't really want to answer that. I think Edmonton deserves to be at least two, if not more. But L.A. as a team playing much more to their identity. Yeah. Like they've done a really good job keeping McDavid quiet.

That's almost impossible. Three assists. And that's a decent note. I know. That's the scary thing is you've done a pretty good job, like you say, and I agree with you. And he's still well over a point of game in the series. We look this morning dry sidel because his playoffs have been unbelievable. 68 points in 41 playoff games.

Dwee. That's all right. Point in half a game. in the playoffs, you say. Decent. Decent, decent. I was really hoping for a king's win, though, guys. Is that right?

Even at 4 to 3, I was like, okay, no, just hang on to the, you blew the 3-0. Now, just hang on to this one. Yeah. Hang on to this one. It felt like 4-3. That was a big goal. But always, it's in the back of your mind.

One goal game, you know they're going to pull the goalie and probably score anyway. So it's as good as tied. I thought this thing was over before we got to the winner when there was a power play for the Oilers in overtime. And the powerplay merchants with the greatest, you know, power play in the history of the league would just win it there. But it actually took a few more minutes.

What do you think, Rhett? Best of three? Game, now how does it, game two? Tuesday, sorry, Retro is game five. And then there's a huge break. They don't play till Saturday in L.A. What the age? So game six has to be in L.A. That's how it works.

And I think part of the issue would be that the Clippers and the Lakers are both still alive in the NBA playoffs. not that they could move the date now anyway. It's too late. But you'll play Tuesday and Saturday, nothing in the middle. So whoever gets up 3-2 and whoever's behind 3-2 after tomorrow night, it's got a long time to think about where they're at. You sit and think.

It also means no one's going to be moving to round two in a hurry here. That's four days with nothing happening. I don't know who it benefits. Probably the team that loses game five. Yeah, or if anyone's dinged up, but it seems like this series is not the worst for that. Is there any way these Oilers can win you? over at. They play an exciting

brand of hockey. It's high scoring. They come they'll blow leads. They'll take leads back. That's true. There's been three, two goal leads lost by the Kings. The Oilers came back to three last night. This is a team you can really get three overtimes and four games.

I'm very wishy-washy and Pinder pointed it out and my choice and Yankee stadium speaks to my ability to be won over. I will not succumb to any oiler pressure. Thank you, Rhett.

The only thing I do upsets me watching the comments on that. And if you haven't seen it, it's on YouTube. Brett, uh, not impressed with the Leafs rolling their top unit late in game two and they're up 6-1 or 6-2. Tavares gets a goal to make it 7-2 or 7-1. My only question is what did Tampa do when they were up big and

game one. And if Tampa's doing it, I feel like it's okay, you're going to be a richer John Cooper, then get a taste of us doing it to you. But if you're the first coach to do that, I am with Rhett. With the Leafs, man? It gets you 6-3 in game two. Okay. Really? Yeah. Way higher scoring than I remember. Back then, for sure. Yeah.

Then you go home. When did you get Hasek back? Game three? Or game two? Three, yeah. At home. Game three, I think Rob Ray scored game three. Didn't know he touched the puck.

It came out from behind the, I was a weirdest goal ever, shocking. Razors. Razors, I took you guys to the finals. school. But I hate the Leafs. Yeah, you do. You play the Leafs in the playoffs and you'll learn to dislike Leafs and Leafs fans. All right.

Not good in Winnipeg as they've what now lost back to back and Josh Morrissey out for the rest of the series. That is not good. Rob Race Gordon Game 4. It's Good Night Jim Kite for the Winnipeg Jets. I fear against the biggest golden news. I mean, of course you got a chance with the goalie, but I mean, it feels like you've had games two and three within your grasp

and you've frittered them away. You've Winnipeg them. Yeah. So now you're at game four at home and it feels like do or die rather than, hey, we could go up 3-1 here, which is probably where it could be at if they closed one of those lost two. I saw one of the stories on Sportsnet. It's at that point where it's, oh, boy, this would be.

The tradition of the whiteout in Winnipe say, oh, Oh, my God. Like every year they do this dumb story about everybody wearing white shirts. Now, it's over for Winnipeg. You're calling that, I know. Yeah. It's fair. They were calling him.

Josh Norrissey for a good chunk of the season. I don't know much like we talked about with Hedman in Tampa. You take Morrissey out of that lineup. I think they're even less equipped to handle his absence than Tampa would be. So four games tonight. Jersey at the Rangers at Madison Square Garden, where you played. The Mecca. Five o'clock start.

I can remember sitting in Ottawa and Ottawa had a hell of a team like if you go through their lineup they were good and I remember sitting in the dressing room before game one actually looking around the room from guy to guy going holy F

it's amazing to see how much reach, height he's giving up to Darian Hatcher, and Jerome's not small. Like, Hatcher's a big brute. Yeah. He's the type of guy that couldn't have played after the rule changes, I don't believe. He was just so perfectly built for that era of hockey as a monster.

And I don't know. As a fan, you sat and you watched and your heart would just start racing as soon as Iggy started to go. Yeah. We did it every series. Let's go. Every first loss, we had a bra. So, Olandy scraps in round one. Everyone remembers the La Cavillier tilt in the finals.
