Starting point is 00:00:14 Anyway, here we go. Another show here on, this is a Wednesday in September. Yeah. That I pretty pretty pretty much. Confirm that. 10th? 10th? 10, 11, 10. I'm going to go with the 10th today.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Welcome to the show. It's Barnburner. It is a presentation of Bet365. Love you, Bet365. Best gaming platform in the whole wide world. Download the app, get in the game. You must be 19 years or older. What do they got there?
Starting point is 00:00:43 They got everything. I really like this Hillbilly handball. Do you think it's on? Yeah. Canada against Wales. Yeah, it's there. International friendly.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Yeah, let's go. HHB is the, I think that's how they Hullbilly handball. Something like that, yeah. And we've got the super chat, but that depends on you people. You people.
Starting point is 00:01:05 If you're watching live on the YouTube's and you're so inclined to make a comment and put a dollar figure attached to it, we will take the dollars and get it to the U-Sanors of Calgary. And then we will read your comment on the show. That's kind of the trade-off. Today is bitchfest day, so feel free to take the stuff. What's going on, bud?
Starting point is 00:01:18 What's going on? Hot pre-show. Hot. Yeah, it was warm. He, uh, Red said to Jack to get the beep stick because he might be doing some swearing today. He was going to swear. So get the beep stick.
Starting point is 00:01:29 I am going to swear today. I've tried not to swear. I think it's a bad thing to swear. But then every show you didn't swear. You pissed me off. You were useless yesterday. What was your problem? I thought you guys were useless.
Starting point is 00:01:40 No, you were completely out to lunch. It was. Everything was just right over your head. What's wrong? You were wrong about Wolf's slow playing things. You were in a mood. It's not my fault. Oh, you're,
Starting point is 00:01:53 something was bothering you. I could tell. It was my anniversary. So I, oh, I had that the day before. I feel your pain, brother. We should all go out to nervous energy. The need to perform.
Starting point is 00:02:05 Yeah. No, definitely not that. Did you watch video? No, because we had stupid hockey, Babington, all kinds of nonsense. So.
Starting point is 00:02:13 Kid shuttle running. Is hockey stupid? No, no, I'm serious. Like kid hockey? Yes, kid hockey, whatever. And I don't care. We are our boys play hockey. Yeah, we got a lot of boys.
Starting point is 00:02:26 There are kids, I know. They're in gymnastics or dance or skiing. Figure skating. Same craziness exists. Yeah, it's just a different bubble of craziness. Yeah. I don't think hockey is exceptionally. I'm sure soccer communities are crazy.
Starting point is 00:02:40 So if we created just a society of idiots, Oh, yeah. I mean, society. So why in our era of parenting? Like, right? Like, I think my dad would have just cuffed to the upside the head. Right.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Like, and he never planned out 17 different events for me, right? Like, well, you need to do the workbook guy. You got a quick feet coach. We've got a dietitian. We've got to get the nutrition. We're an agent on all this. What about my mental coach? Right.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Like, we're not in that window yet. Guys are 10 in like a week. but it's just even you better get ahead soon because if you don't get ahead soon little jimmy's in group three how can how can johnny be in fourth jimmy's in three those parents stressed out are evaluations done yet uh association to association age group by age group will differ i know that the quadrant teams just made cuts so the u-13s and you 15s are now starting or at least you 13s are you 15 a week later probably but for like minor minor
Starting point is 00:03:40 hockey where there's i think we've got two skates saturday sunday and is it crazy that there's quadrant hockey for you 13s it yeah because when i was around i think it wouldn't have started till bantum this year too in our well it would have been all the way yeah so now you 13 will have an association double a team and the quadrador is triple or something like that quadrant has triple a the associations have double a i see but also we didn't have hsl which is this private hockey that's blown up like crazy in the last 10 years we used to be peewees and bantams. Yes. You can't say peewee.
Starting point is 00:04:14 I know. Watch your mouth. Jack, beepstick that prick. Can't be talking about it. Thank God. You got the beepstick flying off the handle. We're almost through. We've got three, four days left. I'm going to leave town just to lower the pressure with. I was going to say, I feel like... Can we ask a question? Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Well, I was just going to say, I feel like when you trotted out, it's as though there's so many parents out there bringing unneeded stress. I just, I'm with you most days. But are we saying? I'm confused. Am I stressed a little? Are you adding to the stress? Are you wrapped your things up? Do you tighten the screws a little bit? Honestly, like I want to leave the kid alone. Hey, guys, let's just go out and have a good skin today. You're not even allowed to. Just a sec, before you answer, let's talk here. Now, is he going to give us his deep heartfelt introspective response or his actual? It's going to be, it's going to be, it's going to be bullshit. Yeah. Whatever aside of the fancy chooses to go, okay. Create liberty to say what I want that. That's lovely. There's no way. I'm not trying to
Starting point is 00:05:18 mention anything to the kid. Just let him go play. But like I am absolutely losing sleepover shit. But I'm not going to put that onto the kid. Like if I'm being 100% honest. Well, and you're like, you're a parent. You care about your kids. You want to play well. You're not going to make the team. You know what I'm like. Like that doesn't help anyone. But I'm thinking that and then screaming it in my head. I've tried. Because I know, yeah, I know how you're wired. I've seen you compete. This is like it's yeah but I yeah I can put pressure myself. I don't put on a nine year old man. They they have teams they don't put on a nine year old man two things wouldn't do it. Nine year old can pick up on your bullshit faster than we can. Yeah I'm trying to
Starting point is 00:05:54 have the conversations after bedtime with everyone just because I said you're a lazy prick doesn't mean I meant it in that way I was yeah no I'm trying to do the uh the ret 24 hour minor hockey rule I just like, how'd you play today? Great. Okay. And we'll skate tomorrow. Yeah. Let's be good.
Starting point is 00:06:13 I just see, that's where I've, this is where my, I fail as a parent. How'd you do out there, bud? Knowing full well, you're a horseshit. I thought I was pretty good. Probably 34. You were terrible. Yeah. I caught myself in the car.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Like, so, you know, your goal, when you play the puck, is that something you're really good at or not quite good at? Well, I'm not the best. I'm like, yeah, because you used to shoot left. And now you're goofy. You got to shoot right. And we're not real good at them. So do you think we should play the puck more or less? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:42 I'm like maybe a little less. Okay. Not a critique. Just an idea of holding a thing about it. Maybe just set it behind the net and get right back in your cage. Don't go to this corner. Clip of the Smith guy. I don't need no Mike Smith bullshit.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Because you know what it is? It's those defensemen, right? Like if they're not ready to take that. Because sometimes they've been out on the ice too long. They're selfish. Their shifts have been too long. It's beautiful because everyone's a forward. And they put little things.
Starting point is 00:07:08 on their helmets and oh you're d the shift like no you're flying the zone you're not d shift you're just wearing a pink hat good stuff their helmets what do you mean just so the evaluate just know who's supposed to be d who's forward in scrimmages they're that bad can't tell by where they're on the ice oh that's how you know they're so about a position it's like well i'm definitely a for it i'm eval and it's a for it i'm d the shift who cares set me up i'm flying the zone so to answer the initial yes it's crazy stupid yeah yeah yeah but everything's society's stupid i mean come on Like, what is this? Go watch idiocry.
Starting point is 00:07:41 What was that? Mike Judge movie like 15 years ago. Pretty accurately projected how dumb mass is. It would be a good laugh. It was famously like they had the actors wear crocs because they tried to find the most ridiculous piece of shoe wherever that could never actually be real. And of course, crocs actually blew up and people wear them. And they're the most idiotic, crazy looking piece of foot wherever.
Starting point is 00:08:00 So comfortable. Someone's made a lot of money on those. Yeah. Crazy comfortable. We should make some. Or we should get those. We should get those little things that the kids put in, though. Yeah, that's the thing.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Now you get a designer, old, yes, whatever it is. I know the name for that. Things. Ideas. Yeah. We're going to Nashville. I want to get, I kind of, this is the most front and center. Right out front.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Let's go. Nashville, Tennessee. Where the cut and blooms and blows, dude. Music City, USA. We're going. There is a hockey game to be watched. There's a football game to take in. There's country music, live music to get into your ear holes.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Lots of it. Bowling. Everywhere you turn. Yeah, some bowling, credit card. Hard to find. Yeah. There it is. It's our Barn burner vacation for the year.
Starting point is 00:08:52 It leaves October 31st, which is Halloween. If you, you know, if you're into that sort of thing. We're flying to Nashville, round trip, direct flights from Calgary to Nashville. You get a lower bowl ticket. I guess, yeah, fair enough. Bus transport from the airport to the hotel, three-night. stay downtown Nashville a lower bowl hockey ticket an
Starting point is 00:09:11 upper bowl football ticket which is where you want to be for football anyway yeah you're down too low you can't see anything you don't want to be too close to that Titans BS gross uh there are different flight packages there's non-flights if you're I don't know if you're getting there do you own west jet you're just flying down by yourself
Starting point is 00:09:27 I don't know what you're in the neighborhood you just swing by and say hi maybe you're just there that's right they have double occupancy single occupancy flight no flight go to nationgear dot CA Glad to see that websites. Can you do that like this minute? Can we get a note?
Starting point is 00:09:47 Yeah, I can send a note. Hey, guys, we're out of double occupancy. Can you slide some singles to double? If somebody wanted to book the double occupancy, because we know there is. It is, they are moving. They are heading. It can happen.
Starting point is 00:09:59 We are heading towards a sellout, but get on it though. There is still room. So we'll, uh, can I put in a stipulation? There is zero chance that I'm in a, room with either any of you right no you already got the uh the indecent proposal you got you named your price million bucks big spoon small spoon you can run the threat all happy dealer's choice so yeah nationgear dot ca is the website go to travel we'll do that now yeah that's i feel like we should actually
Starting point is 00:10:27 take a break to do that see you buddies because it would be one of those things we're going to start the show with the most important thing we're going to tell you about the nashville trip except we go to the website and you can't buy it so who do i tell i'm going to I say, get this S sort of note. Someone in Denmark will get on that, don't worry. Yeah. Dane's very healthy and shape. Feel great.
Starting point is 00:10:52 They're happy. They're the happiest people in the world. Yeah. That's great. I'm excited for it. It's great. It's Nashville. It does make you smile.
Starting point is 00:11:02 It does. Okay, so, Rhett, theoretical itinerary. It's like, what, a noonish start in Nashville? One maybe for the hockey game. The hockey Saturday? It's a matinee. So the game ends. It'll be three or four in the afternoon.
Starting point is 00:11:16 It is first in line of sight and your favorite. So obviously we're starting. I'm not waiting for the final buzzer. That's fair. The horns. Yeah. Once the flames are up, 6-0, after 40, you'll be out.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Matt Coronado, Hattrick will send people to the exits. Make my appearance. I've watched a lot of hockey. Over your ears? Yeah. Yeah. So I've seen, have been to Nashville. Many times.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Yeah. Keenan sat me out there, prick. That's perfect. You knew you got over. I'm going straight to Tutsis that day. Right to Tutsis, Jack? I'm not traveling around Saturday. Saturday is my post up.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Get a good spot. Not moving. Post up. Yeah. Friday, I'm going to wiggle. Le Mander. I'm going to find a thing. I'm around.
Starting point is 00:12:01 I think Friday's the night. Meander. Meander. Now, we were there for the draft. That goes without saying. I don't know what the, who is going to buy the trip to Nashville that departs on Friday
Starting point is 00:12:16 lands in Nashville mid late afternoon and then just decides I just see what's on on my I got some great stuff on my iPad I downloaded some Netflix stuff I was really hoping to get to I know not Nashville that's true although I do believe you told us once that you
Starting point is 00:12:40 and somebody in your house went to Nashville you were tucked in I think they cooked the goose by 2 p.m. and you might have come out later that night. That was travel day. Mama had been on a long stretch of work going in and she was yeah, no we can definitely
Starting point is 00:12:55 I was the one that was I was the pinder of them. I'm like oh really? I guess I'm going to have to go up by myself. Is that how this is going to shake down? Yeah. Next day was all right though. But that's, it's kind of the nice thing about Nashville. What time of day or day?
Starting point is 00:13:11 Are you, you want to start a breakfast and be done by two or three in the afternoon? You want to sleep in, get started about four or five, go all night. You do you, buds. When we were there for the old show, the, uh, Rhett wanted to see an act that he had some friends that knew. And I think you were bringing them up to Calgary to do something at Stampede at a little, uh, I think the idea occurred to me then. Right. And so there's a band you wanted to see.
Starting point is 00:13:38 And it was like, boy, we had a big night last night. let's maybe we get a nap after the show okay but you didn't do the show by the way i did half the show peter la bardia saved my ass i was duping in the lobby washroom yeah and we actually we can do that tour if you'd like it's uh it's not part of the part of the package but we can do when you get there here is where we were doing the radio show here is where pinder was sitting there's the bathroom i violated yeah yeah it's exciting this was the bar the credit card was last seen yeah here on the map shows an alleged bowling alley did you go to bed after the show and not come out with this? No. So what I was saying is
Starting point is 00:14:12 I was like dead and I'm like I need to nap and Rhett's like going to we'll just go and see this act but you never just go see one act because the act after it's as good or better and then next thing you know it's like puck drop in 20 minutes is like holy shit we're still sitting at the bar this has been an eight hour shift. What's also part
Starting point is 00:14:28 of that is we went out for breakfast yes if you remember to it was that soul food buffet helping's like it was like mashed potatoes and biscuits and gravy and roast beef and stuff. So between being up late,
Starting point is 00:14:45 getting up early. Vitamin G, get a little grease. And then nine pounds of sweaty meats. Yeah, I'm going to tap out. I went to have a power nap. You guys went to the,
Starting point is 00:14:57 the Riggins. And it was like 10 a.m. He got on stage or something. It was early. The music is all day. Must have been 11. Because we went and had breakfast and then we got there and he was on.
Starting point is 00:15:07 And then you were texting me to come and pick up One of our drunk friends. The Redskins are a cover machine. You got to come and take this guy home. I got to take him home. You're with him. Take him to the game. And meanwhile,
Starting point is 00:15:18 this is like 3 p.m. Yes. It's midday. Yeah. He was already from the hockey game even close to starting. He was absolutely in need of a babysitter by 3 p.m. Grown man, successful business person. Yep.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Someone needs to help this man. Does anyone, how do you pick up? up a puddle. That was a long day because that was the night we had. We were just one man. Just one man. I was on a rick shot of the Rippers. We walked in the Rippers. The lights came on. It's like, well,
Starting point is 00:15:55 that's not happening. All right. Did they steal cover from us and then kicked us out? Yes. We paid full cover. And they're like, and you got to buy a drink. All right. Okay. And then they're like, thanks for coming tonight. Good night, everybody. That was Bethany. And everyone out. Can you tell Jack,
Starting point is 00:16:11 just one man story, it's phenomenal. It's not. Yeah, it's a, it's a, it's a, I know, you need to be drunk and had to be there. So one of the client guys is like the tallest guy ever. Real tall. Brian Gibson, green drop, named guy. Whoop.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Uh, very tall. Love you. Give me. And we had another person who was not very tall at all. Very small. So we thought it would be hilarious. And it was. And it was funny.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Uh, this was after the hockey game. At Tutsis, I believe. Took the, uh, legends. took the flames jersey on dude crawls on givie's shoulders then puts the jersey on to hide gibby's head and looks like de kebbe matumbo so yeah it's it's an 11 footer yeah with the flames jersey on in the back of legends and somehow the waitress behind the bar like the bartas she was not fooled what yeah get the fuck down what what i'm just i'm just one man it's just it's me it's
Starting point is 00:17:10 Does someone get a photo? I don't think so. It's best if we don't take photos on this trip. Yeah. It's just a little ask for the place. That is the tough one because there's going to need to be some content and video and stuff to document the trip. But it's like, hey, we'll vet it. We'll go through it.
Starting point is 00:17:27 We'll have our guys. Our best people, Jack, hammered, vetting stuff. People on it. Yeah. We're not working. No. God, no. Yeah, no show's there.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Send us on a trip and say, oh, and you do the show. By the way, yeah, you're going to go out, entertain, have a hell of the time and get up at four. Can you go get hammered with all these clients and then do a show while drunk? Yeah, vacuuming in the Vegas casino. Doing it at the airport bar. We've done all those things. Do you think? Oh, then I got in trouble.
Starting point is 00:17:57 The bus. Didn't he text? How many is he had? Yeah, they were kind of, because you had the beer flights going. I'll start with the Caesar. And then it was, yeah, I'll try the. So you'd had to, yeah. you'd had a few in a short amount of time.
Starting point is 00:18:12 See, yeah, what's happening over there. You're thirsty. It sounds like he's been. Well, you put us at the bar. Felt like the thing to do. And I think that was the Nashville trip. I'm trying to remember. Could have been Vegas.
Starting point is 00:18:26 It could have been Vegas. Maybe it was. Yeah. I don't know. Anyway. potentially. So we'll, uh, so we'll go to Nashville. We'll let you know when you're able to buy tickets for the trip.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Just keep scanning the website. Yeah. Not everyone watches this live. You know what I did yesterday? I had a manual labor. No, some was done, but not by me. I did a, I guess it's still kind of a, it was a Google meat. Oh, with, uh, with, uh, the doc, the doc, Dr. Bailey.
Starting point is 00:18:55 Beal Bailey. Yeah. Invest med. That's not your routine doctor visit. Did you feel better about yourself? Well, I'm in line to either feel a lot worse about it, depending on how the tests come back. You're going to get better information. That's all you know.
Starting point is 00:19:11 It's amazing information. Yeah. But truly, we had a hell of, that's a great guy. We chatted, I don't know, you go into a doctor's office. Like, get me in, get me out. And they are especially, get you out next. Wait, wait, wait. A few people.
Starting point is 00:19:25 Yeah, we chatted for both, I don't know, half hour, just kind of getting in. You do the pre-screening or whatever online. Send that off. I was looking at your stuff here and this. So what, tell me more about this now. Okay, yeah, yeah, kind of thing. So now. So that fish hook, we found.
Starting point is 00:19:41 in your stomach when was that again yeah is that a license plate and your rectum um and then they kind of walk through so here's here's kind of very much layman's term we're dumb it but this is this is what we do that is kind of what you're maybe familiar with but it here's where we take it from there the blood work does this we get into this part and it so we're going to and i think you're going to do the same thing i am yes i've got i've already done it up and you've got to done it and what is invest med it is being proactive with your health your body your life instead of maybe waiting until something has gone wrong and then oh you've got this stage two this advanced blank kind of thing preventative and proactive testing gives you answers now not years from now for people who value
Starting point is 00:20:30 your time you look at your life you've worked hard you're at a point it's going to be nice to travel a little bit kids are grown up vacation really really enjoy what we've worked our whole lives for investing in that. If you want to maximize your health for the long term, you can get into the comprehensive physical exams, test it's mitigation, detection, mitigation, and then working, and like Dr. Bailey was saying, if something comes up, he's like, we're working together.
Starting point is 00:20:58 It's not, okay, well, here's what you're going to have to do. Good luck. You're going to have to go find a doctor who specializes in this. You have to go find a clinic's like, no, we're going to work on whatever needs to be done if there is something. So very cool. looking forward to getting into it if you want to learn more invest dashmedd.com is the just want to make sure dot ca is i want to make sure invest dash med dot caa is the website canada's first and only private
Starting point is 00:21:23 medical testing company don't drag your feet yeah seriously get ahead of it get ahead of it get the knowledge get the info and if you're younger you yeah if you probably don't think about this kind of stuff. I didn't when I was in my 30s. I was stupid Jack's age. Younger. Stupid Jack. Yeah. As you get older, I wonder, feel all right. I do wonder what's going on. This is odds and averages thing. Yeah. Well, did you have anything in your family, any history? Well, there is kind of something. It's not good to know as opposed to wondering. So that's what it's all about. And then getting after it, invest dashmed.ca. So Mr. Pinder, we did these scans and see this
Starting point is 00:22:05 raisin here that used to be a healthy liver oh sorry doc yeah we brought in some there's a plan for you we had everybody come in from the clinic to kind of try and assess what it was we were looking at we've never seen anything quite like this that's an organ interesting well we'll work on that we're gonna work on that um are you concerned about sidney crosbie there jacky boy what's wrong a little bit after yesterday's news quit yeah yeah he's done yeah it's picking up picking up He and Tom Brady are investing in pickleball. What happened? Well, you know, Sid is always, he doesn't say a whole lot.
Starting point is 00:22:45 No, he's quite, he's not a poop disturber. I got some quotes from here for you. I know. We'll get into it here. It's not like he came out and it was not like salacious and racy. But the fact that there's any kind of talk about it, his agent, you know, kind of, well, you know, do like winning. Winning's fun. I haven't done a lot of that.
Starting point is 00:23:07 It's great. kind of wants Sid to be in a spot where he could do some of this winning. Yeah. You know, it'd be great if that's Pittsburgh, but, uh, very weird. Oh, I like to kind of tiptoe into because they have been very, you know, it's, there's been no Sid controversy ever. Usually this gets tamped down pretty hard right away. And it's like Sid's a one jersey player.
Starting point is 00:23:29 This isn't going to happen unless Sid wants it. And now the agent may have just cracked the door open and Sid can keep that posture. But I think it's clear for Kyle D. You either have to get this team good right away or there might have to be some tough conversations. I feel like they've already been trying to do that though. Oh, they've been trying. It's just they're nowhere near competitive. No,
Starting point is 00:23:48 now like they. So when's the tough conversation? He can try, but I don't know. Yeah, they've been giving away firsts for a decade and a half. Like it's not anymore. They're in full tear down mode now. Correct. And it's the last year of Melkin.
Starting point is 00:24:01 And I think Latang comes up pretty soon. Two years left on Carlson. You could probably move. I believe I'm spitball in. That's right. And then Sid signed when we were in Penticton last, around this time last year for the prospects tournament. and we're like, oh, my God, like, I was sort of disappointed because it's like, I want to see him in the playoffs. And it's like, well, no, but he's a one jersey guy.
Starting point is 00:24:22 And that's sort of the whole push and pull of it is that there aren't many guys that just play with one jersey their whole career anymore. It's pretty rare. And he is through and through a penguin. And Mario Lemieux was his first billet in Pittsburgh, so to speak. He lived at Mario's loss. He was a one jersey player. But at the same time, it's like, damn it, you watch sit at the Four Nations.
Starting point is 00:24:39 You're like, fuck, he's still got it. Like, wouldn't this be great on a contender in the NHL playoffs? and best of sevens. Is Mario a one jersey guy if he doesn't get... Well, they owe him a lot of money. He kind of had to be, right? He was dying to leave, right? They just don't have 30 million or whatever.
Starting point is 00:24:54 It's great in hindsight. It's like, I'd have been out of here in a heartbeat if I could have. And I'd think that Four Nations tournament was a real eye-opener for everybody. I agree. I don't think it was just it. I think when you get the McDavid, McKinnon, Crosby, all in the same room and guys start talking about, you know, like what are our situations what does everyone make how to win cups if only for him because he was
Starting point is 00:25:21 still so dominant yes exactly in a tournament with young studs yeah he was still in the elite class of all of so what do you do if you sit like i'm actually i'm like how far do you steer it if you want out we're playing games here we're i think reading tea leaves no i know okay so if he wants out but do you steer are you stipulating well i don't care if you get anything in return i'm going to edmonton just to piss people off well i just to use the example if if he wanted to go to colorado to be with mckininin i think he says that yeah if he wants to go to montreal i'd like to end up in in colorado like on uh on noodles's show yesterday they kicked it around a bit because this is when the agent's quotes came out and montreal was his favorite team growing up he was asked by mcrowe's
Starting point is 00:26:10 oh i grew up a habs fan of course have fans are just like oh my god since coming and it's like, you guys allowed to talk about teams he cheered for when he's kid. Doesn't mean he's telegraphing. He's going to Montreal, but they sort of said, okay, Demadov for Crosby, who says no, who needs to add more? You got a guy who's 38 with a couple of years left on his deal versus someone who's played 10 games in the league, but looks like, you know, on the high end can be a superstar. How does that deal happen? And that's sort of the question. We're going to like to sit stick handle. I think personally, he waits it and to see what the team is. And if it's as bad as we think
Starting point is 00:26:42 they're going to be. Oh, sure. Then it becomes like, okay, Kyle, let's sit down in the office and let's see what works for both of us. Remember when they're talking about Chain Monaghan and Goddreau or whatever to it was to Columbus, I think. And I, the point I was getting, well, I don't want to give
Starting point is 00:26:58 something up to get something in return. And I'm looking at the, you talk about Demadov in Montreal, whatever. That's great for Pittsburgh. Like, and I'm not saying one wins or the other. I'm just saying, if I'm Sid, I'm going, no, I want to play with that guy. I want that kid.
Starting point is 00:27:12 Because that that's and Colorado's like, well, we'd like to have both of them. Yeah. We'd like to have Sid and this young player that you're asking. That's my. Yeah. That's what I'm saying is that if I'm Crosby and I decide I want to go somewhere, I don't want to the team to have like I'm going there because I want to win. The seller never gets market value though in these, do they?
Starting point is 00:27:37 No. Like I think over the years, every situation's different. Usually it's an expiring contract on a UFA. and you think about what Marchand got for Boston, and you think about what... It would be future. Teresenko got for St. Louis. You think about what Jerome got for Calgary when he picked his spot.
Starting point is 00:27:53 When you're the buyer, yeah, we want the player. And I know that here's what you want, but between the pressure of the player, especially here. Sid could basically send him about one place and what are you going to do to say no? Are you going to be a hardline stance on Sid when he's set on what he wants? I'm out Rushmore player. You're going to do what he tells you to do. It's kind of like the McDavid contract.
Starting point is 00:28:16 Like he's going to tell you the number. God, I hope he leaves because that sends a clear message to Connor in the cultural capital that it's okay for you to F off. Yeah, I don't think Connor's worried about that right now. I think he's very much. But I agree.
Starting point is 00:28:29 The more that we see player movement, the more guys don't feel like they're going to get, you know, strung up in the town square and hung in front of a jury for it, right? The perfect fit for Pittsburgh and Sid would be a contender. that has a very nice system of prospects and futures. Because that way they can go there and the team's still good. And the penguins can get seven return.
Starting point is 00:28:50 The problem is like your Florida, Tampa, Eminton, Toronto's are the bottom five to six systems in the NHL. Dallas has traded their next two first. Vegas has traded their next two first. Edmonton's traded their next first. Florida's out of first for two, three years. Like that's where this becomes a little stickier for Dubas. If he wants to go to a team,
Starting point is 00:29:08 DUS ain't getting nothing to return. And so that's why Montreal is an interesting fit, because they've got a top five pipeline. To further that thought, just, when you think of the greats of Montreal, oh man, those jerseys up, these were all first class.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Yeah. Right? Like we said, you don't hear boom from, classiest. Well, what's it? Yeah,
Starting point is 00:29:31 he's the class. He fits right into that mold, right? And they are flooded with prospects. The thing about the one saving grace for Dubus is if there's a trade and the return is, it's just not going to be what you would want. You could just.
Starting point is 00:29:45 What was I supposed to? We owed it to Sid. That's all you need to say. And fans can be upset and disappointed, but they can't really crush him. I'm not worried about him. But you know what I'm, that's all I'm saying is when you look at the return. Well, that's a bad deal. Well, yeah. That's what we turn our super sense. Sid earned the right to end his career, how he chooses. Well, that might be the wisest move.
Starting point is 00:30:07 If he decides, okay, see him, Malcon and also LaTang and Carlson audios yeah and then you turn it around quick if you move all those then you're into the McKenna dupont yeah and you could have not gotten anything back if he just leaves as a free agent instead of extending which would have been this summer in theory right so last fall yeah it's already done you another favorite yeah signing way under market good guy such a good guy that's good dude so where do where do you want to where do you want to where do you want to go jack phoenix they'll be the catalyst oh it'll be so good in mollad arena Calgary no probably Colorado is the fun storyline because it's the Cole
Starting point is 00:30:45 Harbor Nathan McKinnon thing and they're good and they got bounced in the first round and their center depth is good not great I just remember you think it because I saw it pop up the other day I forget where it was but it was McKinnon in that locker room afterwards he was like he was like they were missing this guy and they didn't have this guy and we still yeah I don't know what the hell we're gonna do yeah it was kind of like we're that was the Hayskinin was out around one and I think Robertson was kind of something like that yeah It's like, well, this guy was hurt. This guy wasn't even playing.
Starting point is 00:31:13 We still couldn't get by them. Put an 87 out there. Well, and they got Brock Nelson, who is not young, but is a good center. If he's your number three center, I really like Colorado. He's your number two center. I don't know. I get it, but Colorado's boring. I like the team.
Starting point is 00:31:29 I like my, I just mean, in general, if he went to Montreal. Oh, yeah. Right. He's going to the Mecca. Yes. Like, you don't think about great hockey markets, think about Denver. It's a good one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:40 It's not a historic. original thing all the pageantry and history that venue in the playoff i want it would be a circus if you want to yes i want those goosebumps that they cause you when their fans are wound tight and the whole picture it you're ready to speak in french i can't zuccalo hockey night in can't opening night the bell center sydney crosby 87 blu blanc-re rouge face off the other side David and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Oh, you had to go there. So this is 26.
Starting point is 00:32:16 This is right away. This is what hockey needs. We got some things to work out here quick. I'll give you a year to figure that at opening it. Or maybe it's round one. You know, we'll get our Nashville trip. We'll get the website up to date and then we'll get to work on this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Do you like it? And if you look at Montreal, they've got a bunch of good young wingers, the center position's a little thin. Like Nick Suzuki's good player. Is he a one C that measures up against the one C's well, the other contenders? Probably not. becomes a real damn fine one.
Starting point is 00:32:42 He's a damn good to see if you brings it in. I'll tell you that. Is it going to just selfishly now? Yeah. In our little worlds, do we have Hab fans that are going to become really hard? Oh, the DUG is going to be.
Starting point is 00:32:54 Right? There's going to be some real belligerent. But they've been so unreliven, irrelevant for the last decade. I mean, they had the COVID run that was just totally hocus, but generally speaking, it's been a rough go for a while.
Starting point is 00:33:06 But they'll be obnoxious, yes. Yeah. It was like the end of the 10 years of darkness for the oilers. like yeah whatever i don't mind them that much and then they got good yeah yeah another laundry win it's true yeah no montreal fans montrails aren't as abnoxious they're they're gonna be trumpeting their 25 stanley cups if they get one they typically don't beat each other up they burn police cars but yeah they don't it's not sweat hogg yeah it's not so hooligans that are pretending to be that's not these munche go to montreal hardford love hartford
Starting point is 00:33:41 great time it would feel right though that just historic franchise wouldn't it i guess so i'm trying to think about a jersey that would just be more prestigious for sid as an east coaster where everyone grows up well it's a double back on the four nations thing that crowd in montreal oh that's opening night fights you can't beat a montreal crowd they were crazy yeah for him you cannot beat a montreal crowd I'm impossible none zero well this McDavid Crosby leaves so we should try and get tickets maybe we can be expensive we'll do that one and then the Nashville trip in late October is that too much no we're gonna the McCrosby leaf have we make that round one opening night for the playoffs okay two three in the Atlantic it's exciting never any talk of that happening here hey it's like maybe he wants to be a flame not yet in his heart of hearts he's always now look if the flames are very good in a player away and a kid that grew up cheer for the flames becomes eligible as a star
Starting point is 00:34:55 oh is that the stipulations did you cheer for the flames and he's oh what the hell's going on here i was doing like this i was this is you guys i was was mostly for kale mccar to come home and commodore walked in the room same thing you know same deal feet are a little heavier d men huck movers elite 30 goal guys all famous mike in his career kale every year uh what do i is your pin report sure try to the pin report got some flames news so we've done all the uh pender report content for you no just one piece that's one piece all right pinda report brought to you by village honda village honda dot com they would buy you your vehicle. They love having used
Starting point is 00:35:41 vehicles. They can't have more. They can't have too many pre-owned vehicles on the lot. They are willing to appraise your vehicle. The appraisals are complementary. All makes, all models, even if you don't buy a vehicle from them, they want to buy your vehicle. You'll get payment in 24 hours time if you hit a deal done. Start the
Starting point is 00:35:57 and no obligation, which is kind of nice. Maybe you got your leases up. Let Village take a look. See if it works out. All the details at VillageHonda.com. reply. I'll start with Calgary Flames. You go to Flamesnation.ca where pike is piking and writers are writing and well, I guess the story coming out of the golf tournament yesterday, which is the unofficial beginning of Flames training camp. Craig Conroy on the Anderson situation, it won't be a distraction, quote, he's a professional.
Starting point is 00:36:30 And I think there's a great distinction here because fans, this is a huge distraction. What really matters is in that room, is this a distraction? And that's the question that I don't know that any of us are terribly well positioned to answer, but thoughts on Connie's take. Free agency will not be a distraction. I'm stunned. He didn't come right out and say, this guy's going to be a pain in the ass and do anything to get him out. Usually that is what you get.
Starting point is 00:36:53 Yeah. Yeah. It's Connie lying to us? Liar. I think right now at the golf tournament, probably not a distraction. Very easy to say that. Yeah, probably not. I bet Rass was very, just fit right in.
Starting point is 00:37:07 I think if the team gets off to an old. and five start or a one and eight kind of thing. It's going to be caught talking point. How don't you ask Connie all of August if it was a distraction? Yeah, or if he thought it had, if he had a cell service. If he'd have got him traded earlier in the earth.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Yeah. The other side of it is what if they don't get off to a bad start and you are in a playoff spot at the deadline? Well, I was going to say, that's the scariest. That is the scariest. Also a distraction. Yeah. What if you go one and eight or eight instead of one and eight?
Starting point is 00:37:35 And you are, geez, maybe we should extend them at too much money. Maybe, well, we can't trade them now or can. Or can you? You said you would. You can't remember. That was the whole thing. 20 goals. He'll be our own rental.
Starting point is 00:37:45 He'll be our own rental. It's our own rental. Oh, how great is that? That's insane. Don't ever do that. That's a good story. I want the owner and the GM to make a blood oath that they trade this guy before the deadline. Can we organize that?
Starting point is 00:37:55 Well, it's the Pinder report. You can. So that, that was the main take, the big talking point out of the golf tournament yesterday. As for prospect camp, it officially opens today. That's nice for the kids.
Starting point is 00:38:07 Sorry, I'm interrupted again, but I don't care. they're golfing and then the next day yeah and I don't know how many of the prospects were golfing I'm sure a few of them or how many of them were doing shotgun beers in the golf all we had the funnel when Kami was the thing I was going to say I think maybe the rookies the rookies maybe now are a different athlete these days how many can he get in that funnel three Tommy says imagine if at the app what if it was Rhett Warner at the golf tournament.
Starting point is 00:38:47 Signing the Dust. It gets announced that he has signed a seven year. Seven and a half. Seven and a half per. Oh. Yeah, Rhett's streaking the buffet line. Yeah. Oh, boy, we got seven more years of shit.
Starting point is 00:39:01 We're going to need that seven and a half million for all the flipped golf carts and ruined greens. So, yeah. You'd have McLeod Law on the horn pretty quick, right? Yep, I need it. So with the flames. Can we nullify this deal? Is there an annulment available? other talking points so the prospects are starting today they get the old the
Starting point is 00:39:20 VO2 bicycle proddy prouty pinchy chin ups I'm sure all that nonsense you're at wind sport today on ice tomorrow at wind sport and then Friday it is game day for the prospects in Edmonton before a Sunday matinee here at the Saddle Dome we'll start to see the veterans trickle in after that Sunday game I imagine roster is interesting there is one name noticeably absent uh oh it's a pipe bomb Zane Perak won't be participating in Prospects camp or the two Evanton rookie games for, quote, precautionary reasons. Offseason injury, expected to be full go when main camp opens. And I think, what was he doing that he caused himself training?
Starting point is 00:40:01 I think he was at that U-18 camp. See, all these team Canada stuff, injuries now that don't go. I appreciate it as a youth hockey dad that hockey canada says don't over-train and don't over-specialize. and then you watch them take our best players at 17 and make them play a 13 months a year. But you're preaching this, but then you're doing this. Interesting. The 13 months a year feels excessive.
Starting point is 00:40:24 It's a lot, I'm told. Yeah. Hard to do. Elsewhere, we'll move. We heard about the Crosby rumors. What about the Hughes brothers? We know Jack and Luke are in New Jersey. Jack needs a new deal soon.
Starting point is 00:40:37 We're sitting in a great spot right now. And of course, the brothers are saying we want to play with our older brother Quinn. Again, odd that they'd say that. Yeah. Yeah. And so that's probably going to be handled well in Vancouver. Not a distraction.
Starting point is 00:40:51 No. It's not going to be a distraction. No. Honestly, I'm not afraid to say it. Yeah, I'd love for Quinn to eventually. I'd love to play with him. And whether that's in New Jersey, at what time that takes at some point, I want to play with Quinn.
Starting point is 00:41:03 But yeah, I think the question we're around, they talk all day about in Vancouver, you know, but I'd love to play with Quinn at some point. They're brothers. It would be. Cool. And whether that's in New Jersey or at what? brother brother brother brother that's yeah yeah we're in a good spot here in calgary yeah conner's leaving hughes is leaving yeah teams around us are falling apart beautiful
Starting point is 00:41:27 upity up connie let's go draw blue jays another walkoff last night's the team of unsung heroes it was three bench players combining for an extra innings win miles straw pinch running okay put a back up catcher tile harmon that's a bad tattoo sir Or is that a snake that's eating your arm? Got a rash. Forty-third comeback victory of the season. That's tops in the majors, I believe, the tied with the Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:41:53 The other side of the Tuesday night baseball where the Yankees up 2-0 in the seventh inning until they allowed eight in the seventh inning. Here's Buck Martinez on the Jays broadcast as the out-of-town scoreboard was being updated. You know, the Yankees, they don't have a good team. I don't care what the record is. They have a lot of wild pitches.
Starting point is 00:42:15 They make a lot of mistakes in the field. They don't run the bases very well. If they don't hit home runs, they don't have a chance to win. They are down big against the Tigers tonight. The Blue Jays trying to mount a comeback against the... Everything Buck said is true, but the part that they're not a good team. They aren't good at running the bases. They don't play good defense.
Starting point is 00:42:34 It is not a good battery of not pass balls and wild pitches. But they're still scoring way more runs than that. allow and they're a very good baseball team. Let's go to our resident Yankees fan who did not know who the Yankees were playing yesterday. Dean, how are the Yankees? I am going to be respectful. I think, I think Buck is a legend. I'm not going to say anything about what, uh, that's, hey, Buck's allowed to have.
Starting point is 00:43:01 Buck is, he's legendary. Played the game. That is an old school take. The buck stops here. It's defense and fundamentals. They're not great at those, but they, do smash a million home runs, which is very helpful in winning games. They have been tire fire-esque like the Jays were a couple weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Last thing, like 10 days ago, it's like no lead is safe. Yeah. That's what's happening right now. And it's funny because they bolster that bullpen big time at the deadline. I saw last week the one game they walked in or the bar balked in a run. It's like, holy Christ, guys. A balk off win is not good. Jesus the best.
Starting point is 00:43:39 The lead is three in the ALE East. I did the math last night. If the Jays play 500, that'd be 9 and 9 in their last 18. Yankees do have a game in half. The Yankees would have to go 15 and 3. He did the math. Sorry, not 15 and 3. 13 and 5, thank you.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Do the math there. Jay's on the tie break from the season series. We'll keep moving. Calvary FC back this weekend. It is a pride match. That'll be a good one. And our bus trip is the following weekend, the 20th. Join us at the elephant in castle.
Starting point is 00:44:07 45 bucks, Jack. It's not bad. You get a beer when you get there. You get a share plate, bus to and from the game. and your ticket. A couple of big crowds on tap in this lovely September weather we're having. Very nice. Let's go Cavs.
Starting point is 00:44:19 Yeah. A nice August. Lost in York last weekend. Back at home, the fortress. Does Jack have any gear? We can't have Jack looking like a, yeah, I need some groaning out there. I'm sure. You got lost.
Starting point is 00:44:31 Can you fit in a shmedium? No. Okay. That's where Pinder left you before, isn't it? Yeah, the championship game. I had to sneak out of the field. Had to go and hug people on the field. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:42 Nice part of it. Tell me a big hug. Yeah. All right, Jack, I got to go see you. Where are you going? I'm going on the field. Can I celebrate with the trophy? Can I come?
Starting point is 00:44:51 No. It's going to be hard enough for me to grease myself. I thought you'd like this. We all love gronk. He's from Buffalo. He is a maniac. And his former teammate, Jake Bacquette, who was a D-Lyman for the Patriots of Little Note,
Starting point is 00:45:06 was on a podcast the other day, telling an epic gronk tale of, I think, the off-season. But we all had these. key fobs that gave us 24-7 access to the Patriots facility there in Foxborough. And like during the off-season, Gromk would go out all night with his boys in Boston, you know, stay up till three, four in the morning, whatever it was, and have his crew drop him off at the Patriots facility. And he would like stagger in to the Patriots locker room,
Starting point is 00:45:32 K-Fobb in and go pass out on the training tables in the Patriots training room. So then like an hour or two later when the trainers would come in to start their workday, they'd come in there and see Gromk just sprawled out on the train table just fast asleep. They would go over there. They wouldn't wake him up. They would roll up one of his sleeves and stick an IV in his arm. After a couple of hours, he would just wake up like Frankenstein revived and go out there and just kick ass. So Gronk just went to pass out after the bar at the facility and they'd IV him while he was sleeping and then he'd wake up and dominate guys.
Starting point is 00:46:08 How do we set this up in Nashville? all. I mean, that's a pro move. It's very... Who's out of the IVs? I'm going to need one at about 5 a.m. Very responsible. That isn't showing up late or not showing up at all. Hey, I was the first one here. How about you guys?
Starting point is 00:46:21 When did you get in, coach, huh? Check the key fobs. See when I saw it in. You think you're working hard. Finally, we'll give you a little piece of Australia to close out your PIN report as... That's New Zealand. It's New Zealand. Thank you, right? It's a thick accent. Looks like that's sort of a reindeer.
Starting point is 00:46:39 Someone's trying to feed him bread. It's a goat. Ah, you fucking prick. You're fucking asshole. Just done it again, you fucking prick. Look at that. That digit. Ozzy Brad?
Starting point is 00:46:51 That guy's got to work at his peripheral. Yeah. What is that? Is that an emu? What are we looking at this? Is it an emu stage left? No. Emu.
Starting point is 00:47:00 Is it an emu? Emu stage left. That thing snuck right up on them. Just trying to feed the red deer. What did you call it? The red stag. That's delicious. Right on the white bread.
Starting point is 00:47:08 God. Those things are assholes, though. Yeah, they are. Look at them. Yeah. Go comb your hair. And that's a heavy curse, too. I want sound again.
Starting point is 00:47:15 Yeah, I like it. It was a good one. Ah, you fucking prick. Oh, you fucking asshole. I might need that as a drug. Yeah, you fucking prick. Yeah, Jack, you fucking asshole. Is Prick a swear?
Starting point is 00:47:29 No. Like, I feel like it's. Don't say to your grandparents. They'll smack you. I feel like it's. Prick was a swear in the old days. Yeah. It's effective.
Starting point is 00:47:36 I said it in a dressing room, speaking of kids hockey, two years ago. And afterwards, we went to watch the Rochester Americans play. So the kids pile into the car with mom and dad, and they're driving to watch. Coach Rett said, What's a prick?
Starting point is 00:47:56 You would be amazed how many parents came up to me and said, they don't know what to prick is. Didn't Pee La Bardini's sleep famously saying the other? You can't say that. Because they got to drop a prick on the air. Yeah. Trying to remember the context of that drop. That's Pind Report on.
Starting point is 00:48:11 Wednesday we'll uh good luck to everyone riding the bicycle and doing cardio today for anyone needs borsh come home village honda village honda dot com northwest automol your dealership for life book your vehicle in now get it in there before the snow flies get your tire thing figured out here soon but at the very least figure is this car gonna mine good shape it's one thing i was when i was talking to dr bailey yesterday he's like there's four things guys like four four things that if you can just kind of make sure you're good on these, you know, cancer, go through, make sure everything's okay. Heart, you know, vascular, that sort of thing. He's like, we handle that.
Starting point is 00:48:49 Number three, the third thing is, you know, do you have a good vehicle, you know, quality vehicle? Because is that it? If you're driving, if you got to commute, just have, have a responsible vehicle that's not going to. And just don't be stupid. Don't do stupid things. Like, I need to change a light bulb, but I don't have. have a ladder, I'm just going to stack up some soup cans and balance on one foot to change it.
Starting point is 00:49:12 Yeah. That's not advised. So if you can not be stupid and drive a decent vehicle, we'll have, we'll figure out the rest. We'll be in great shape moving forward. Good. So it's part of Village Honda. They can be part of your whole life plan moving forward. That's a, I think we should, I've got most of those covered because I was at Village.
Starting point is 00:49:34 I am a little worried about the don't do stupid stuff. We're going to Nashville for three days. That's true. I didn't tell him about that. Yeah. Guy over there. We should. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:49:44 So you bring him in? He's probably going to go to match for the story. Well, I will at the very least, what I need to see is you're in his hair. Oh, hair off today. His is terrific. I'll get out of the way. Okay. Come on in, Cammy.
Starting point is 00:49:58 It's a hair off. You need to be here. You got to be part of this. I got nothing to say. How's that? Jack, are you looking good? Steller. Cami and I are going to go collect some bottles in the alleys of Marloup here.
Starting point is 00:50:14 You should pump your cup. You got a job? Not like that's some sort of phony and baloney. You got you doing spreadsheets or no? We're doing a hair off. So before you pimp your company. So give it some, give it a little of this. Yeah, we are pretty close.
Starting point is 00:50:30 Not bad. I need a haircut. You're sweating. How was the workout? That worked out yet. That's a 11th. Oh, jeez. That's scary. Today was a,
Starting point is 00:50:39 gym. Look at them. Yesterday was a long day. Golf tournament. Yeah. Guess who they put me with. Whenever I play, Cowboys.
Starting point is 00:50:50 Oh, no. I had a really good time, but non-golfers. After the first hole, I'm like, we might be 20 over. First hole. Yeah. I'm like, I think we,
Starting point is 00:51:04 actually, I shouldn't say the first hole. We actually buried the first hole. second hole we bogeied. I'm like, uh-oh. And somehow we got it to the house at minus five, which was for our group, really, really good. I'm sure this was a collection of white color executives way up the food chain or was it the bartenders, Mike? Who was, who were you going to We had, you know, you're starting to get older. One of the marketing girls, it's actually my buddy's daughter. I'm like, man, I'm getting old. Then the GM and a couple of marketing people. Great. Yeah. It was.
Starting point is 00:51:36 good and their accountant who i'm pretty sure had never touched a golf club before in his life yeah i wrote with them all day and his name was jesse's like hey micah i don't play much golf i'm like you don't say it's that right hey poor guy i actually kind of felt bad for but we had fun he had a good time so they were relying on you yeah i played okay yeah yeah i played okay and we were like by the rules our caddy was uh sorry letter of the law letter of the law got two drives in from everybody including jesse We played a couple par fours way back. But yeah, it was fun. It was a good time.
Starting point is 00:52:14 So how many rounds? Like you just kind of golf all summer, right? No, because I've been down in Arizona, but I had the UK trip with Ken Holland. Played 15 rounds in like nine days. He always does this. Kenny's like, it's like torture. No caddy or no, no gimmies.
Starting point is 00:52:33 You got to put everything out. Yeah. Big bets. Two bad best. Back tease. It's in psycho. We've actually gotten away. We're starting to move it a little bit forward. Good. Like appropriate.
Starting point is 00:52:42 Kenny's like six. In your old age. Yeah. Yeah. So what is it? How many guys go on this thing? This one was just eight. Next year he's got, I got, you're getting me nervous.
Starting point is 00:52:52 We have that. That's us. Next year he's going with 20 or 24 guys. And it's like, I mean, 15 rounds. He's, it's like two weeks, like 25 rounds. He's like, I got a spot save for you. It's torture. Imagine walking 18 and then like out we go for another 18 and do that like eight days in a row.
Starting point is 00:53:12 Like it would be one thing if you're like a good golfer and you hit it straight. Yeah. I mean, you started hitting it sideways. The second last day, I mean, I was terrible until the last day. Second last day we were at Port Rush. We played the big course in the afternoon. We played the valley course in the morning. My caddy didn't show up in the morning or the afternoon.
Starting point is 00:53:32 So I loved my bag around. And like I said, my goal. Golf, I mean, I was hiking. I think I walked. I had my phone in my pocket, 16 or 17 miles that day. Oh, my God. Chasing my goddamn golf ball. Carrying a bag.
Starting point is 00:53:47 Just racking up doubles. It was actually hot, too. I always bring, like, I've been lucky. Yeah, bring a rain gear. You bring all that stuff. I was in shorts and a golf shirt the entire time. That's rare out there. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:53:59 Yeah, it was good. It was good. Make any money? No. Didn't make a dime. Ouch. Literally not a dime. First time in all of his trips that I.
Starting point is 00:54:06 haven't done any. This is actually your towel. Oh, yeah. From the last time you were out. Perfect. Yeah, put over your shoulder like hockey nights. After the first hole yesterday, I'm like, I need some drinks right now. This is going to be a long day of golf.
Starting point is 00:54:23 And this is what, 9 a.m.? What are we? Yeah. 9, 10, I hit the cooler. I got to watch it with the beers. So I stopped. They didn't eat, you know, they haven't been on golf course. So I was taking their coolers.
Starting point is 00:54:34 I don't even think they knew there was one on the golf cart. And I was just loading them up with neutrals and just gnashing them for the rest of the day. I was all good because I ubered down there. So I'm like, you know what? This is how I'm going to get through. What course is it at this year? Because these are a couple.
Starting point is 00:54:48 Yeah. They were at, I was at Cottonwood. Yeah. And it was like Cottonwood and Country Hills. Nice. So it was good. I raised a bunch of money.
Starting point is 00:54:56 Everybody seemed happy. Dinner was good. Who had the best day on the, who had the best score? Sandbakers. I think it was, uh, everybody was booing them.
Starting point is 00:55:05 Well, you guys were just talking. talking about him. No. Anderson. Oh, this one. John Winwick.
Starting point is 00:55:11 Johnny. B. back to back. They have back to back. I can't believe we haven't been texted by Johnny. That's. Their gross score, I think, don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure it was minus 20 or 21. And the place erupted.
Starting point is 00:55:26 Yeah. I don't really know what's going on, but I was booing too. Johnny's the nicest guy who's the biggest heel when it comes to this sort of stuff, whether it's got this. He always brings players. Yeah, he's got his hockey tournament that he puts on with ATB, and he breaks in some ringers. Like, yeah, I guess Johnny's the defending champ.
Starting point is 00:55:43 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, Johnny won it last year. Oh, yeah. Yeah, he always, I can't remember who else was on the, on the group, but I was laugh. I was booing hard too, because I thought it was funny. But yeah, he always, like minus 20. Minus 20 was not in our card. No.
Starting point is 00:55:57 I'll tell you that. Minus 5 was our minus 20. What was it that happened last time you came in because you sat down? You weren't here for that. No, I was gone when he'd call me. That was Retina, and you had a beer and then you had another, but you had an event to get to. That was the Gordy Howell?
Starting point is 00:56:14 That was the Gordy Howell last time? How'd that end up? Because you, uh, about as you'd expect. Were you biking? Is that what it was? Didn't you have your e-bike or something? Scooter. Scooter. The bird scooter.
Starting point is 00:56:23 Right. Yeah, I like those things. Yeah. The hockey tournament went about as you expected. I was thinking more of the trip there on the scooter. It was, you know what? I'm actually very, I heard you talk about don't do stupid things. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:34 riding a scooter and not really paying attention and having a few drinks is stupid. You have to like check in. You can hurt yourself on those. But I'm pretty good with the scooter. That is one of those things, right? And I'm not saying that they should. But you think of all the stuff in society that we just go, oh, you can't do all you can't. I'm surprised they're allowing us to have scooters in the city, downtown.
Starting point is 00:56:55 Right on the roads. Anybody. Do you have a scooter lies? No, just some old drunk broad could get on a scooter and whatever. If you can hit the camera phone on your. or camera app on your phone and scan it. Go ahead. Connect. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:57:09 It doesn't matter if the weather's bad. It's one of the few things. Stampede 3 a.m. Yeah. Just flocks of them coming out of downtown. It's actually, you know, it is amazing that you don't see more people just get wrecked on those things. Yeah. One of my neighbors is a surgeon and he covers Stampede and there are a lot of people that don't get home safe on those scooters.
Starting point is 00:57:29 He's like, this is the busiest week of the year. It's all broken boats or scooters. There would have to be some with that, with those companies. where they get them in the shop. It's like, okay, what's your guess? How did this, like, just mangled and snarled and bent? What do you think happened here? What did they run into?
Starting point is 00:57:43 What did they fall off of what did they, like off a bridge? Is that what they, is that what happened here? Because I know me. If I've had a few, it's not a lot of good ideas pop in. It doesn't take much on those. You're not going that fast, but you're going fast enough to do some damage. You said he got a new job. You can put your hat on.
Starting point is 00:58:02 What is, is it different from the last one? How many jobs are you rolling through? You all right? Yeah, none of them paid. But I got, uh, yeah, axon. Yeah. I'm back at the end of the month.
Starting point is 00:58:12 I actually have a, uh, in Calgary here, the axon road show is coming to town. You guys should come by. What the hell is Axon, Mike? So Axon is a taser company started as a taser company. Yeah. Next time you see a cop around town, you're going to ask them to, well, they're not going to, they're going to have an axon taser. And then they're going to have an axon body cam. There you go.
Starting point is 00:58:34 So I'm not here to take one of those. I'd like to sell them tomorrow. I'd like to sell a couple of you guys, but I guess it's illegal there. If Dean had a taser, I would have to quit this job. Especially if it was one of those ones, I could shoot them from across the table.
Starting point is 00:58:48 You can shoot. It'd be great. You could shoot Rett easy. We'll talk after the show. I'll smuggle a box. Just under the desk. Have you been tased? Have you done the thing?
Starting point is 00:58:58 No, I think I'm going to do it, though. Oh, man, please get video. Please. Yeah. It's not a thing with cops and that? have to, I think it's kind of like a right of You have to do all that to. I think if you're going to use the taser, you got to go through it yourself.
Starting point is 00:59:09 You got to know what it's doing. Red, am I crazy? Did you once do? He did. Okay, so when Rick gets back on, he'll tell the story. You got tased? Doing out with the cops. Monty, a bunch of guys that go four.
Starting point is 00:59:21 It's 2004. We'll get them to tell the story back off. Okay. I feel like for, I did not see that. Because I feel like I would remember that. And is it true? Like, it'll go through, like, it'll go through. Like, you're a conductor?
Starting point is 00:59:34 Yeah. Yeah. You just ride the lightning, apparently. I think that's what they call it. I think you get hit, and then they can, I mean, there's multiple. I could hit you a couple times. Well, you're an expert in the field. Yeah, I am.
Starting point is 00:59:49 Yep. Yeah. So, yeah, big road show. September 25th, 10 to 2. I'm not sure where, but it's in Calgary. It's actually pretty cool. They come in with like 18 wheelers. Come down, get Tayes.
Starting point is 01:00:01 Say hi to Mike. Yeah. So we should come down, but we can't buy them. you can't sell them to us. No. No. Apparently, we got too many rules here in Canada.
Starting point is 01:00:10 I feel like this road show. Yeah. You guys show me any kind of badge. I'll sell you one. This is my kid's sheriff. That works. What were we talking about the shirt we were going to get with the badge? It was like the dip police or something?
Starting point is 01:00:23 Yeah, dip police. Dip patrol. Yeah. You know, made like seven dips for opening the NFL. Dip patrol. Oh, dip. Yeah, I see. So what's the workout today?
Starting point is 01:00:31 What are you got? What are you doing? Oh, it's some kind of lifting. I don't know. I'll put a very mediocre effort in. I'll be, I'll be sweating. I was going to say,
Starting point is 01:00:41 because you sweat, just come on. Be like, well, Commy's looking hard. I got a lot of no controls to get out of me. That's fair. I always look like I'm working hard.
Starting point is 01:00:47 Yeah. Not really. Look how far it's got you. Yeah. Yeah. Got a job that doesn't pay me. None of the rest of I don't see any of you. Look at Commodore.
Starting point is 01:00:56 Who's sweating his ass off over here. Maybe if you guys had the work ethic the Commodore would have. That's right. It's like, Kami had 19 beer before. he got here. That's why he's sweating, making us look sad. I was sweating it up a little bit at the dinner. And I saw Dustin Wolf. I thought of red yesterday because it was
Starting point is 01:01:12 a contract day. Imagine signing seven for seven and a half, seven years, and then having the Flames golf tournament. I'll get this round, boys. Oh, man. Congrats on the deal, Dustin. Yeah, here's a shot. Without knowing the kid, he does feel like one of those guys you're not too worried about. It's not a warning. Now, Dustin, we got to sit.
Starting point is 01:01:34 down now it's a lot of money here's what we're going to think you're going to have he seems responsible i don't think he's going to buying i know you're not 19 ferrari's yeah fair you watch a bit but not at time like you're you're not masquerading as the insider anymore no what do you know about wolf and what it what have you noticed you know what i watched a few games when i was still here with the ranglers and i mean i know he just kept winning and he was MVP the league what twice you went goalie the year and then MVP and goalie the year the next year pretty good resume so successful everywhere he's gone and, you know, his size was always a question. But at the end of the day, he saved the puck.
Starting point is 01:02:08 Yeah. And so, no, he seems like a pretty good kid. I've hung out, not hung out with him, but I've seen him at a couple. He came and played in our alumni golf thing, which was nice of him. Yeah, he was here all summer. Yeah. Yeah, he was here all summer. Yeah, he does seem like, I mean, you just signed for $52 million and he was sitting at the dinner
Starting point is 01:02:25 and he had it together. We'll see how nice he is after he gets his ass tased. Yeah, that's right. See what kind of mood he's in. I should have given them my card. It's time for you to start buying ax on. I don't know if you. You don't need any of it.
Starting point is 01:02:38 But let's get some security at your house, wherever you're living. We've got a road show coming with semi-trailers. Oh, boys. Off to work out? Yeah. Have a good one. Might as well sweat in the right place, sir. Thanks for having me.
Starting point is 01:02:51 Good to see you. I love the random dropping. Do you need a, I'm sure we were going to reach for the cooler, but you, are full. You're good. You hit your quota. Do you need one for the water bottle? Last time I had beers here.
Starting point is 01:03:00 I know. My eye pressure went up and I started going every six months. We had that anecdote yesterday out of the blue. We were like, yeah, Kami's doctor thought he is. So what was that again? It was the drinking Christmas show. So you came for the Christmas show and then had a... I had a couple beers in here that went to the eye doctor and my eye pressure was up.
Starting point is 01:03:18 So instead of coming every year, because I have my, apparently my optic nerves are a little different. So they're just like keeping tabs on it. Once a year was good. I have a couple beers in here. I go to the eye doctor. My eye pressures are up. Panic. button. He goes, I need to see in six months. I'm like, I'm not going to tell him. I just
Starting point is 01:03:34 finished like six beers. I'm not going to tell him that. So I'm like, God, I didn't say anything. Then I went back and he's like, okay, your pressures are down. I'm like, oh, yeah, that's weird. I wonder what could have happened. Yeah. Thanks for having me, boys. Good to see you, buddy. Good to see you, buddy to drop in. How the dogs. Yeah, give us some. You can take that towel too. Yeah, that's, that's yours. Fully filled with your DNA. I'll wash it. Bring it back. I want to tell you about Viena Nova while we're doing a little switcheroo here. Venanova, Market Mall.
Starting point is 01:04:05 What is Vena Nova? Well, it is lab-grown diamonds. What are lab-grown diamonds? Well, they're the best. Calgary's Lab-grown Diamond Specialist. Venanova Showroom, the largest selection of lab-grown in Canada. Earrings, engagement rings, necklaces, bracelets, a lab-grown diamond, the same chemical composition and crystal structure, same hardness, light refraction as an earth-mind diamond.
Starting point is 01:04:25 Except the thing about it, this is made in a pristine lab, unlike the Earth-mind, which are dirty dirty dirty dog out of the dirt the gross you ever seen dirt it's dirty i try to avoid it dean anywhere from 50 to 70 percent less expensive lab grown compared to the earth mind it's the technology it keeps getting better it's more efficient thus making things more affordable uh the the woman that i live with she's actually it was this morning says do you think maybe uh we could go and we could go to vina nova and look at my christmas gift sometimes time. I had the same conversation yesterday on our anniversary. Right. I was a
Starting point is 01:05:04 Vina Nova Christmas gift. Buckle up, Justin. We're coming. September. Planning. Not that meant. Didn't take that long. So yeah. Don't do it that way necessarily. They're going to be happy. It's just the timeline. That's our fault. Market mall, lots of parking. Create a, maybe you want to create your own, a labgrown grown creation with the experts at Vena Nova. Vena Nova.com. Labgrown, the way to go.
Starting point is 01:05:30 and nobody does it better in our city and in Canada than Vina Nova. Venova.com. He's always sweat like that. He's a massive sweater. We should bring him to Nashville. Oh, we should bring him to Nashville. Tommy, Halloween in Nashville. I went to Miami with Tommy.
Starting point is 01:05:47 Halloween, flames, predators on the Saturday, Titans, Chargers Sunday, fly on Monday. Remember that shirt you bought in Miami? That gold sparkly. It was like you were like the rock. You still have it? Bring it to Nashville. That'll be good. That'll be a hit.
Starting point is 01:06:04 He's going to check his schedule. He's going to check his schedule. Yeah. I seem to think it worked too. That shirt. I believe it did. People liked it. It was shimmery end of the lights.
Starting point is 01:06:15 Success. There you go. On the show yesterday, I brought up the Mia Culpa, just a blanket apology. Yeah, you and Rhett got us in big trouble. I didn't know you had a new Latin. I don't go into
Starting point is 01:06:31 I should, they say, do you think you could do more posting on the social, socials and this and that. I don't, I didn't realize that I had been sent a message from someone at Mugshots sports bar and grill a couple days ago. A DM? Very much along the lines of, hi there. Heard that you were on, you were on the podcast, on your podcast talking about how our restaurant was closed.
Starting point is 01:07:00 we've been dealing with a lot of people who have been reaching out and it's not sure what you guys heard or what would have led you to say that. But we've never closed. We're still open. Still very much open as usual. At the same location. Yeah, same location. Never moved. Yeah, never moved.
Starting point is 01:07:23 So we talked about it yesterday. We don't need to go into too great of detail, but some members of the show. show drove by and were led to believe that it was closed. We've been informed. You know what? corrected. It is not closed. It is still very open. Mugshot sports bar and grill. Ogden. Open for business. One of the best at what they do. Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. Delicious wings. I hope the moor got back to them. It did. They put another message out on socials. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 01:08:01 I'm teeing this up. Thanks, Ryan. Just wanted to say thank you to the Barnburner podcast this morning for making it right, clearing the air that we are not closed. Mugshots never once thought saying, thought saying was ill intent. We love you guys still. Cheers to more Wing Wednesdays, salt pepper,
Starting point is 01:08:19 pepper, dill, pickle, soy, sensation platters. Go team check. Team chicken. There you go. Oh, I'm glad that's in the review. Yeah. Jack, you don't know what you're missing. All as well, that ends well, Jack.
Starting point is 01:08:31 What are you bringing me today? I could. Take it for a ride. You know, Jack, we're going to go for a ride. I could do it. Sound too excited about it. Okay, this is just growing up and knowing yourself. One shot, please, Jack.
Starting point is 01:08:51 It feels like it's a personal story. This is just growing up and knowing yourself because I know some Mondays I don't eat. You know Rhett better than anybody else. No one else knows Rat like Red knows Red. Yep. And so on Monday, I don't eat, but I had to eat because it was a bit of special day. So yesterday I didn't eat.
Starting point is 01:09:10 So you can imagine how Rhett's feeling about Red's hunger at the moment. Well, only Red knows. Retto's. Wrette knows. Red knows. If he goes to said mug shots, that Red is going to kick some ass. And then Retto's all the day is over. And I got to go to bed because I'm going to go too hard on the way.
Starting point is 01:09:32 wings at mug shots. It'll be, I'll be done. I'll be tapped out. Rhett knows Red. So that's my concern. It's not lack of excitement. It's over exuberance and understanding where that leads to.
Starting point is 01:09:47 So don't take it personal Jack. It's not a Jack thing. No, I get it. I get it. Unless you're there or not. Next Wednesday. You won't eat Monday. Tuesday will be your day.
Starting point is 01:09:56 Then Wednesday. Let's do a show. Yeah. It's hard to do a show. Yeah, I was going to say I'd just be happy going. We can do a show who don't eat this. Yeah. Bender's not allowed to.
Starting point is 01:10:10 No. It's not as dietary. Oh, I'm in trouble. It wouldn't happen in our house. It's been to don't enjoy a weight. But you get flat. I'd like to sit down with your significant other and get her. Teach your about science.
Starting point is 01:10:25 Tell her what's up. Oh, oh. Crying emoji? Nope. You're all going to hear about it after the show. Good. And actually all the people listening, we'll know about it probably too. We'll do the 365 bets and then a little something on the way out.
Starting point is 01:10:40 Go for wings. I mean, it's and a superchats. We've got a couple little things here to get through before we go. Bet 365. Game props, player props, you name the sport, it's there. Whatever it is. No one's got a more diverse field. Everything, man.
Starting point is 01:10:59 Than bet 365. Whatever your bet is, it's never ordinary at bet 365. Get the app. Get in the game. must be 19 or older. Pinder, what do you got today? Well, we were on Team Canada yesterday. They did beat Wales, which is awesome. Vladdy luckily cleared our two-beat base total. We're going to stay with Vlad. He's been red hot. I think he's got more than two bases in like five games in a row here, screaming hot.
Starting point is 01:11:21 So we're going to play two total bases are over. That's hits, not walks, double would be two bases. You get it. As long as that's plus money, we're going to hammer that. It's been a winner for like a week straight. And while the Yankees are taking shots from Buckmark, Martinez and blowing, you know, eight run innings in the seventh against division leaders. You know what? Just being, it's fair play. Pile on. Well, the while it's, and you know what, the Yankees can prove us wrong, but Detroit's plus money.
Starting point is 01:11:46 I like that Detroit, a half game back of the ALE lead behind the Blue Jays. You want one of those two buys. So lots on the table for both the Yankees and the Tigers. Those are our two baseball bets today. But again, we've got a Thursday night of tomorrow. We got lines out for the NFL weekend, CFL football for all the non-standeters who aren't Bye on and on and on. Lots of World Cup qualifying going on.
Starting point is 01:12:06 It never stops. Get the app. Get in in the game. B19 or use the promo code nation when you sign up if you haven't already. And we would suggest that you do. We have a heck of a good time. Can we do football picks Thursday this week? Is that a reasonable ask?
Starting point is 01:12:22 Yeah, we'll do them. Tomorrow? Yeah, we got to go over. Well, he's not here Friday. Or I send you a video from the first T Friday. We did him Thursday last week because we all had the. Yeah, we wanted that Thursday. Obviously, the Eagles are going to win by 1,000.
Starting point is 01:12:36 And we always put it, sometimes we put the little asterisk. If we do take the Thursday game, do we get to maybe double, get in on the Fridays? There's so many stipulations. I feel like we should all have to take the Thursday game. Sure. It's a good one. It's Washington at Green Bay. And Washington survived that Giants Pass Rush.
Starting point is 01:12:54 Green Bay looked really good week one. They kind of made Detroit look ordinary. Yes. It's in Green Bay, I believe, which is always a fun game. Dan Campbell says this week is a must win. Oh, already. Dan don't. He knows.
Starting point is 01:13:07 He's playing his cards early. Must win, man. Bite him on the ankle. Bite him on the decaps. Who's a Troy playing? Detroit. They got Chicago? I believe they got Chicago.
Starting point is 01:13:18 Chicago? Yeah, I think that's the whole division plays each other. Chiefs go to Philly, which we talked about yesterday. That's wow, because they're all in one. They got Baltimore week four. Like, chiefs are, no one's healthy. They got Hollywood Brown and no one else to catch the ball. Kelsey looks wild.
Starting point is 01:13:31 Yeah. It's not his real name, though. Hollywood Warner. Should name you kid. What a handle. Yeah. What a handle. Guys, great news today.
Starting point is 01:13:42 We've got a super chat. Damn right. Proceeds. Some of the super chat. Go to the U.S. of Calgary. Helping out kids in our city. Get them on the straight and narrow.
Starting point is 01:13:51 And it's an old friend back in the phone. There it is. HD. We wondered with the wolf extension. Big wolf guy. Big. excited. I'm so G.D. excited for the season. It's like Christmas morning. What are we going to get from the team? Who's going to achieve? The long will take for fans of Toronto to turn
Starting point is 01:14:12 the leaf. So many answers waiting to unfold. You're right, Dan. It's, you can almost taste that it's so close. It's so close. Um, what are we going to get from the team? I don't know. I don't think he's really looking for answers. No, he's just making statements. These are all the great questions that will be answered as the season unfolds. That's. That's why we're excited for this season. The Toronto one's interesting, too. That is a good question. You still catch a fish at any of your spots, handsome day.
Starting point is 01:14:39 Yeah, one's fish in season? You're around. Any, anytime? Jeez. It'd be great out there right now. Would it be real good. Would it be good right now? Oh, why they're supposed to be happy to do a show for him.
Starting point is 01:14:50 A dock? I think you'd rather just not do the show and go to the dock. I'd rather not do a show and just go out to the island. Salmon fish, that'd be all right. Some crabs Benedict. You ever been salmon fish? and Jack? No.
Starting point is 01:15:04 Do you ever leave your house, Jack? That's what we should do. I leave my house occasionally. We should take Jack on a fishing trip. I'll hold the fort. You guys. Can he handle it? My kid would probably be like, can I go on one?
Starting point is 01:15:15 No. Well, my kid would absolutely freak out. Yeah. I've lied to me. I've broken so many promises. I'll take you to the Panthers if they make the cup final. I've broken so many promises. It's two finals in a row.
Starting point is 01:15:29 I got slammed in the face last. night with another one. I can't even tell you about it. Oh, no. Oh, dear. Like, did it actually affect your heart? Because you're a bit of a cold-hearted bastard. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:41 He said if we moved back to Calgary and get us a dog again, Dad. It's along those lines. Can I have my dog back? Because then it'll be gone sooner than getting a new one. Jeez. You know what, dogs? I don't get a dog. You got two.
Starting point is 01:15:57 You give me that one back. Your kids hate that dog. You want him back. because he'll be dead sooner. And I see what he looks like now. He's a great looking. He's a great dog. Nice mutt.
Starting point is 01:16:10 He's a very good way. Change his name. Don't let that guy take your dog, Dean. It's my dog. It was your dog until you abandoned it to go to the tropics during COVID. I dropped it off. It wasn't abandoned. Abandon means it was walking down the street or an alley.
Starting point is 01:16:24 Dropped off in October. 2020. Was there a plan to get the dog back or was it always just, Oh, you know how Rhett rolls. It's one day at a time, baby. Some of us believe that was the plan, yeah. Reled to believe? It was October and the plan was not sure how long.
Starting point is 01:16:45 We do kind of like to be in the U.S. for American Thanksgiving. Right. So that's about a month, right? A little tour down there. A few weeks. Yeah. Well, they were there for American Thanksgiving. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:58 And then Christmas. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And then New Year. That was four years ago. We're back for Family Day. Four years ago. We're back for Family Day.
Starting point is 01:17:08 Four years ago. It's like the dog's been here longer than he was over there. By the time I was back, that dog had lifted Boomer's house longer. Oh, yeah. Oh, it's not even close. Yeah, it was. So did you guys talk about it when you got back read or was it just? Oh, I avoided it.
Starting point is 01:17:25 Yeah. Yeah, they were back for a while. The dog was still at our place. Uh, rat. It's okay to not be a dog person. Just, God, take the dog now. Give the dog.
Starting point is 01:17:40 I'm not giving you that. Broken as kids hard. Can I have it once a week? No. Split custody? That'll go well for your kid. Wow, just enough. Kids allergic to dogs.
Starting point is 01:17:51 The one kid's allergic. It's not my fault, Jack. Was it the if you make us? Oh, no. If you do this, I'll get you a dog. Well, it was so far fetched. It seemed like a. God.
Starting point is 01:18:05 What are you doing? Tell you what? If you, if you manage to do this, I'll get a dog. Really, Dad? I'm going to try my hardest. That kid, he's determined.
Starting point is 01:18:21 You know, he's had a goal for him. A lot of kid. What a great kid. Like Warner back at mugshots. He was not going to be denied. Just putting on a show. Let's go. We've got a little thing here.
Starting point is 01:18:35 I brought it up on yesterday's show, and I couldn't remember something came up in a... So many shows. So many shows. A lot of shows. But had a chance to do a little, kind of a Zoom little deal. It'll sit down with Jermaine Franklin,
Starting point is 01:18:46 our good buddy. One of the nicest guys going. Even you guys in the room knew that, right? There was just something about Germain. You knew he was a good person. He was good at what he does. Everybody loves Germain. He's beautiful wife.
Starting point is 01:18:59 Oh, she's singing the anthem at the Flames game. It's not out to screw you all over. Yeah. Great guy. To use one of your words out of your lexicon, he's a sweet boy. He's a sweet boy. He really is. And it was so fun catching up with him because he's just purely germane.
Starting point is 01:19:17 And I don't know how we got into it, but as we were wrapping up the conversation, well, you know, I would take a look. This was near the end, as I recall. How's Pinder? We're all out of time. Love Pender. Make sure you say Anne Ratsky, too. We should have ended with the yoke and an impression.
Starting point is 01:19:41 Yeah, yeah. Hand on a high note. But you guys, yeah, you guys are, you guys are good at what you do. You're really good at what you do. I remember Pinder when he first came on. It was like, it was almost like he was a walking talking coffee table with sharp edges. He hit everybody in the shins. Like, oh, but.
Starting point is 01:20:04 like oh pender ah what is he doing that what is he doing there like everywhere you walk you just hit him but like even after a few months like he like he fit right in and yeah you guys are yeah keep doing what you're doing you guys are awesome when that changes i'll send you a text i thought it already did no the sanded edges no the twins no it's more of a dining room table now it takes a lot of space, a lot of sharp edge. It's like an octagon. I don't know how to explain it. It's tough.
Starting point is 01:20:42 There's very little room with him in the, in the room. Tough to that. It's dying. What a guy. I remember when Pinder came on, it's like, ah, that is a excellent description of what. I never heard someone described as a coffee table. I'm like, damn, that's coffee table with sharp edge. How do you even think of that?
Starting point is 01:21:03 Just. rammed everybody's shit out he's in here again now he's over there now and in fairness that's about as scathing as germane gets towards anybody so I don't know how you should feel about it's not that derogatory he said he loves me and I fit right in
Starting point is 01:21:19 but I'm also a coffee table of playing quarters if you want to see the whole interview it's on our YouTube channel all of our stuff go visit our YouTube like subscribe we're gonna be we do the shows but there's going to be more things I mean we're doing the Nashville thing there's going to be all kinds stuff that's going on there. And if we go for wings, we'll probably have some of that on there.
Starting point is 01:21:36 And we'll be putting some different content up there. So make sure you get to our YouTube and subscribe as stuff goes on. You'll get, uh, you'll get all that. Look your trip to Nashville. Let's go. And book that trip to Nashville. Nationgear.com. Come to Nashville with us. Get your passport ready. Let's go. Jack. I got two passports. So I'm good. Okay. Do you need two? Just need one. Well, last time I went to the States, they got a little pissy that I didn't bring my American one. Oh, no. If you're America, you better have you're American. Oh, they do not like that.
Starting point is 01:22:07 No. Duster. Figure it out, Jack. Figure it out. How was the show today, Jack? Good. I was a little surprised that we've only gone an hour in 22.
Starting point is 01:22:19 I don't know how we went. That's with comedy. I was going to say commies. We sat down. It's like, well, there's that SIDS stuff in the Pinda report. I said, I might need to hijack that. I don't know what else we do.
Starting point is 01:22:30 We do got some news, any chill news? Do you want to talk about it now? Do you want to save it for tomorrow? What do you want to do now? Well, tomorrow we've got football. Okay, so let's do this then. Whatever. Connor McDavid is not the only notable free agent of next summer.
Starting point is 01:22:43 Karelka Prisov's another, Jack Eichol, Adrian Kempi, amongst a huge list of guys. And with this cap skyrocketing, it's like agents are not really hustling to lock into eight-year deals that the money everyone's used to. So Karel Kaprizov's apparently turned down what would have been the richest deal in NHL-HL history of $128 million over eight years. That's an A.AV of 16 million, which I, this does not surprise me one bit. The wild without Caprizov or what? The wild with Caprizov are what? They just freed up all their suitor and Paris a bio punishment.
Starting point is 01:23:20 And I won't be surprised at all if he's by a few million dollars, the highest paid player in a league if he signs before the Kempai Eichol McDavid's of the world. I've said this a few times over the years. like just the and it's not but if in a very literal in your brain if someone slides a paper across the table to me that is going to pay me
Starting point is 01:23:40 $128 million. Yeah. The balls I would need to have to push it back across and say, now I'm good. A little more. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:51 Well, we talked about it. Again, off air conversation. You love playing hard ball. Yeah, I'm maybe not the best negotiator. Hmm. Well, I want this. No.
Starting point is 01:24:02 All right. Well, I tried. Take some notes from Carrell. Well, okay, just give me the contract you offered. Actually, we can't even offer that one. No. Well, now what is it? Well, that's a lot less.
Starting point is 01:24:14 I better take it before it gets worse. Is there a chance it'll get even lower? Really? It's got a pen? Damn it. 16 million A.A. What's amazing to me is when you used to compare hockey to, and I still, it's still low. Sure.
Starting point is 01:24:30 But usually here are 100 plus millions now. That's your, that's big, big. It's a good time to be super. Yeah. I think Wayne famously made 46 on the button because I think when Frank Naser signed, he had like 46.1, he made more after playing like 28 games in the league. And like we've talked about, so assume, yeah, the cap keeps going up. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:53 What is 16, how much higher are you going to get than 16? Max contract for, because again, it's next season that there's. signing for. So if you were a max salary player, which you've never seen in the history of the cap, that's 20%. And so at 104 million, that's like 20.5 a year. If Connor wants that, everyone will make room for him to get that. The question is, where does Carill fall in? And if you look at the way the Wilder position, they're young, they've locked up some of their guys on deals already to good contracts. And for him, superstar, if not the wild, then somebody may Yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:28 Maybe it anyway. Yeah. No, no question. Yeah. That's again, 16 million. It's a lot. But if 16 becomes 20 in, for the last five years of that deal, it's, well, four times five. That's always the fine line too, right?
Starting point is 01:25:43 Where you always talk about a while. It's if you're getting 128, that's 100. What more do you need? Yeah. Well, if it's two million a year times eight, that's another 16. Yeah. Now you're a hundred. Like, I can give that to grandma.
Starting point is 01:25:57 If I want. Not often you hear about these really blowing up in players' faces. Like Klingberg, it did when he wanted the money in Dallas. He was just delusional about what he was. Chris is a superstar. Like he was in line to win a heart until he got hurt last year. He had the best two months of the year to start. There's not very often where, and maybe it happens and it's not all public,
Starting point is 01:26:19 but where someone really regrets passing on a deal, long-term big money deal and looks back. Like I that was a major major mistake. Parathletes bet on themselves and the stars. We always see those contracts. Not the guys that took the one year 900K. But bet on yourself of your superstar. It's going to go okay.
Starting point is 01:26:38 Imagine if you're Bill Garron and the wild side. Do you think they really, do you think they thought they were coming over the top? Big day today. I think they thought they were. We're going, are we going to go to 16? I find it interesting.
Starting point is 01:26:53 If they're at 16. Like you're walking. we're going to negotiate. We're going to get this shit done. And we've got some money and we believe in you. We're going all the way. 16. I'm confused where the negotiations
Starting point is 01:27:07 ended. Do you know what I mean? Like if you're, if he, if you're going to believe 16 would get it done. Even if you weren't, you've got to be thinking around the league. This is 16.
Starting point is 01:27:19 You're the top of the, you're top of the table. And if you're sitting across from there going, no okay what do you want like how how how far how how how high does it have to be 16 and a quarter you stand up and go when you're bill gary go well i can't do that hard not to take it a bit personal which is that point it's 16 you you would be the highest paid for a while at least well until south of con or right but even so then you'll be the second or the third you'll be a top five guy for a long time with what you're getting
Starting point is 01:27:55 Do you even want to be here? He does. The other thing, too, I wonder about it. Is he dying to be there? That's the problem with messaging. I mean, this is a report, so we don't have any idea how negotiations or what either camp is looking for. There is a world where Carol Caprizov says, I'd love to make 16.
Starting point is 01:28:13 I want it for four years. And I want to jump back in when the cap's 130 million. But that's what I'm curious. So your question is, what is the Caprizo camp on? It's a good question. But I'm not surprised by this at all. And I think if you were to tell me that Coral Caprizo, because they're negotiating.
Starting point is 01:28:27 He doesn't want to have an opinion. I'm not sure why we even brought it up. No, I'm glad we brought it because I think people are going to get sticker shock on all these new deals because that's how quick the cap is growing. And we were in this flat cap era for like what felt like almost a decade. And it was like a nibble a little more, a little more,
Starting point is 01:28:43 a little more. We are now going to see 10% jumps. And this is the sticker shock of that. When you're committing someone to an eight year deal, that could be eight years of huge growth. And so agents are like, no, no, no. If it's eight,
Starting point is 01:28:54 we're going way bigger. It's a huge pivot for sure. Whereas locking in for eight, that would be the goal of all players. Previously. I want the, I want eight, right? I'm going to do a sign and trade so I can get that eighth year. And now because of the cap going up. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:12 I'm not going anywhere near. Matthew signs. This way less. There's also way back at. Meyer. Yeah. You used to get injured and be done. Like, yeah, it's so much better on that side now.
Starting point is 01:29:25 Right? Like the science, the medical side of things. Like Bobby Orr's knee ended his career. Yeah. You really have to do something. Like Landis, just literally two years of knee cartilage replacement. Right.
Starting point is 01:29:40 So I wonder if that, you know, I was a player, my agent would say, well, well, better take it. Yeah. You get hit by a bus. They're going to be fine. Well, I don't think these guys even think about that. I wonder two, and it would be the, because of the Caprizo, maybe,
Starting point is 01:29:59 but if you're a, if you're a, you're, you're young kids still. These are young guys. I just got to see Fantilli. He's coming out of his entry level. We're not going to get an extension done. I don't. All of these deals that are being pushed back, there's some mom and dad, like you, we have talked about.
Starting point is 01:30:14 People are age, a little bit older that have 20, 22, three year old kids being told by their agent, don't, let, let, let, we can get more. And you'd be sitting there thinking. this is $140 million. And that's where. Okay, son. If you, I don't know, it gets confusing.
Starting point is 01:30:34 You try and put yourself in the team shoes and then in the player's shoes and then in the agent's shoes to kind of get a feel of what and everybody's different. Well, I got four kids and I'm set up in Minnesota. Does he married? Does he like Minnesota? Everyone likes where they play. I got no doubt that he enjoys it. I think Rasmus Anderson likes Calgary, but he ain't staying.
Starting point is 01:30:54 Like he might like playing in Minnesota, but it doesn't mean I got to hang my hat here for the next 20. I didn't buy 40 acres and start planting oats. Like, I'm okay if I go somewhere else. They want to pay me more and I, whatever. And they will pay more. This is going to get done. But you might be right, though. It might not be eight years even when it does get.
Starting point is 01:31:17 If I'm an agent and I have a star player, I think it would be a huge mistake. If your job is to maximize earnings, now again, if you. If you love it here and you've got family here and you're going to be here no matter what, sure, we'll do eight. But if you want to maximize earnings for a player, it's just look at when we showed you that graph with Dustin Wolf's salary, year over year in today's money, how low it gets.
Starting point is 01:31:36 Like he's making $5.5 million by the middle of that deal. Imagine getting a number one goalie for $5.5 million. That's Joey DeCard money. Like that's why these deals aren't happening. Like Kempay, McDavid, Ikele Caprizo. I wouldn't be surprised if all these players resigned with their teams. But the landscape is so different. with the cap that agents don't want to screw this up.
Starting point is 01:31:57 You could argue on that flip side by saying if I sign for, excuse me, if I signed for eight, I might be leaving some real money on the table on the back end of this. But if you only sign for four, like you say, what if your production goes down? What if you get injured? What if the world landscape? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:32:13 That's four years of 16 million guarantee that you're saying no to. That's also money that's, you've left in the balance. And that's the agent's job is to measure those. things, right? And it's like, okay, so where's the life-changing generational wealth? And then how do we? And Austin Matthews has been the one that broke the mold. He went from entry level, straight to UFA on a five-year deal. We'd never seen that before in the NHL where someone made top market money as if he was a UFA. And they literally took him from 30 year of the entry level, right to free agency. And then he signed a four-year deal at 12, 13. Now we signed another
Starting point is 01:32:49 three-year deal in a similar timeline in the same universe, Austin Matthews is going to make way more money than Connor McDavid because he's just structuring his contracts to get back in the market more often. Agents are learning. And that was Jed Moldover, who is now Conner's agent. It wasn't Connor's agent when he signed that eight-year deal. That's Jeff Jackson, who was running the Oilers from Toronto. It's a great spot when you're one of those guys.
Starting point is 01:33:14 100%. I'll sign for three years. You know, it's still more money than I'll ever spend. And maybe in three years, I want to live in a different place. I want to do something different. The team will suck, whatever. There might be a different approach by the G. GMs have to take two.
Starting point is 01:33:25 Or is there going to be something that comes into? New CBA has been signed. Nothing news coming into the next five, six years. Yeah, but these, they'll figure out ways to write shit in that's still, maybe not. Maybe it's all standard. But the, the, the GMs used to be in lockstep. Yeah, we won't do this. We do not.
Starting point is 01:33:43 Bridges were not a thing. All these young math nerds that run teams, they don't have a clue what they're, they're like boom, negotiating. Yeah, whatever you need. And to be fair, if you really are going to get into that hardball, what's an extra $2 million for Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment versus keeping a superstar on your team that sells over the seats and jerseys. And the money might get high enough.
Starting point is 01:34:06 Sorry, it's not about money for sports, Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment. It's about the cap space. Right. It's whether you can now pay the goalie or keep the goalie and the superstar. That's the- Minnesota's position to do well. If they have to give Caprizo more money than they're comfortable doing, their caps in great shape.
Starting point is 01:34:24 now they got Zee, Boeem was going to be coming up in a couple of years. I think they already re-uped that good young defenseman they brought in from L.A. Who's in a cap crunch? Almost no one, to be fair. And I'm actually curious. 10 million new money every year.
Starting point is 01:34:39 So they've changed things a little bit with the, you can't hide the LTIR. Yeah, your playoff rosters have to be cap compliance. So that that's going to change things. But like who over the last decade has been so cap crunched that they couldn't? Spoilers this. summer.
Starting point is 01:34:55 What does that stop? I mean. But next year they'll have like 20 million to spend or something, right? Like obviously Conner's money. And they're like Florida, right? Because they wanted to keep all those guys under. Tampa's cap pretty hard. Vegas is always right there.
Starting point is 01:35:06 But all those teams are going to get the extra nine and a half for next year, right? That's kind of what I'm getting at is that you worry about this cap crunch. And I just don't know that it. It's not happening when the cap grows like this. It's very, yeah. But the players also know that too, right? That's why the deals aren't going to do if you're. But then the fine.
Starting point is 01:35:24 If you're Jack Eichol. So sorry. I'm, five years is enough. I don't need an eight year contract. Like, I'm actually talking CBA. Five year deals.
Starting point is 01:35:37 They maxed it out at seven on the new CBA. So I think after July 1 next year, you won't be allowed to go eight. You can go six to a different team or seven at home. So they dialed it back one. And that's sort of the direction you're talking about. Make them short. And honestly,
Starting point is 01:35:50 I don't know if it's better for players or owners. So that's the case. We've seen a lot of mistakes on your deals. Imagine if John Huberto was only allowed to sign five. That's a win for the owner. Yeah, we would be okay with the few of guys. Now, in the Oilers case, you'd have to have paid Connor three years. Yeah, but you can keep paying guys.
Starting point is 01:36:03 You don't have to. Skim a new deal. That's what the Austin Matthews has done in Toronto. He's got four contracts with them. If your city is so great. Yeah, if you're signing players long term out of fear that they're going to leave, that's emotional. That's tough.
Starting point is 01:36:18 That's how Hebrador does that sign. That's not ideal. And we'll give you it all inside. signing bonus money so we can't buy it out ever the wolf deal is a hell of a deal especially when we talk about capri's update they're certainly not right caught a tale of two days where it feels like the this goalie if he chose to could have really played hardball and probably won if he has a good season he absolutely wins yeah just go be better than old mark and swayman and now you can ask for nine a year i hope he's done a fat cat i yeah well it didn't sound like
Starting point is 01:36:50 it was the golf tournament yesterday commie gave you got the commie seal of approval was a fat cat cat lake. You've got everything. You just kick your feet up, cruise through life. It's more lazy. I don't have a right to be lazy. He's not that I've,
Starting point is 01:37:05 he's still with like boats and properties. It's not as though, look where I've positioned myself in life. Being a fat cat's nice. I'm on easy street. It's kind of nice. It would be nice to make this kind of money, but try working with ones.
Starting point is 01:37:19 They don't give a shit. They get all the money in the world. Well, I hope it works. for Carill, but make no mistake. Billy Garren's a sour man today. And his owner's going on. The owner had just come out publicly at some sort of event. He said, we're going to get this down.
Starting point is 01:37:35 So when are we having the, what are we going to do for the signing? Are we going to get, well, what a great way to kick off the season. Camp's going to open. We'll cut the ribbon and this guy. They got a new name on the rink. And here's Carrel with his new deal. And the Wilder finally off from that buyout money. Go wild.
Starting point is 01:37:51 Not enough money. We've ordered the flower bouquets for his mom. and wife and we got the kids Jersey's name. Do they get him a bunch of sponsorship. Does he like doing some landscaping? Could do your front lawn. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:05 Is he into that sort of thing? How much, like what is the max contract? What could you actually get? 20% of the cap. So what is that? Just a hair under 20 for this season. And for next year's going to be a hair over 20. Okay.
Starting point is 01:38:16 Capsed a 94. And a halfish this year and 104 and something next year. I think we've never seen anyone close to it in terms of like the full 20. but if Caprizov can go get 1718, if you're Conner's agent and you want it, you'll get it. I feel like if we don't need, now see if we're going to, we're going to go.
Starting point is 01:38:39 Way to go. Let's assume for Caprizov's like, I'm happy with 16, but I only want to do four. Why don't the wild just say, well, okay, sure. Probably will. Because that's essentially five, because you got one year left in your deal. I think they will. If you can have this guy for, hell yeah. Right?
Starting point is 01:38:57 no i don't think this is contentious at all i think it gets done it's just that it's going to be a bigger number than people are used to and if you are going to take eight years well i'm going to ask for a lot more because yeah it's that it that's what it is it's that holy shit turned down a hundred turned down 16 million dollars a year i just uh we can't predict the future how much more you're going to get i bet you gets uh so because he's not taking 16 for eight So I bet you it's similar to 16 and 17 when it's all done. But then in term kind of throws that around a bit. Right. He'll get, he'll do well and he'll get another huge deal after this one.
Starting point is 01:39:37 Unless it's, I don't see how old he is. So it's just going to become the NBA now. They sign short term deals with player options opt out when the cap goes up. And if you want to maximize earnings, that'd be smart. That's, that's awesome. Matthews is the poster child. He's going to make more money than anyone else in his career. When he retires, he'll be the highest paid hockey player of all time.
Starting point is 01:39:59 It's 28 now, Caprizo. Well, he won't be the highest paid forever. No. And then it'll be a kid after him that's got an agent that's saying they can't ever pay you enough with the amount of money you make these teams. Get as much as you can and let the GM deal with the captain. It's still, it's much like house prices and butter prices and margarine. When does it end? Yacht rentals.
Starting point is 01:40:21 When when like at what point is it like, well, no, it can't. Oh, it just keeps going up. Well, as soon as they start charging less for tickets and beers and shrinking teams not expanding, then it'll go down. but it'll keep going up. And all your kid wants is a dog. Fat cat. You know what? Pinder was good earlier now.
Starting point is 01:40:39 He's just being a punch. Hey, Jack. How was the show? Really good. Yeah, I thought maybe he checked up there. See you, buddies.
