Starting point is 00:00:01 Yes, it is. It is a Friday, in fact. Welcome to Barn Burner here on the Friday the 13th edition. Are you having a Friday the 13th? I sure am, Dean. Is there two Friday the 13th this year? Does that happen often? Every year? I'm not super, uh, not super familiar. If I were pinned her, I would tell you yes or no with full confidence and just barrel right through. But I'll be honest, I don't really know. Yeah, I don't know or care, really. I just thought I thought. There's three this year at three. Three in 2026. Trouble.
Starting point is 00:00:39 That sounds like trouble. Big trouble. Yeah, it's probably not good because we're led to believe that Friday the 13th. That's when bad stuff happened. Well, I'm having a shitty day, so. You want to walk through it? Nope. A lot of money being spent, bills, invoices, costs.
Starting point is 00:00:57 You know what you just think everything's going? Okay. Furnace is work. Yeah, yeah. Roof's not leaking. Don't need a new rig. Life's good. Life's good.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Shouldn't be any big outlays of cash. Yeah. Oh, no. Jesus, what's this? It's one of my, it's one of my more favorite underrated Simpson clips when Homer does the, I've got a bit of attacks, bro. You know, when you're younger and you're watching, oh, it's, yeah, it's the Simpsons. I guess that's a lie.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Yeah, that's, that's how you would talk about it. That's exactly the tone. Yeah, I've got a bit of a tax problem. It's tax season. You went to see your tax guy. Tax season's coming up. It's going to come around and bite you right in the ass real fast. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:46 It's always, you've got to get that heads up from, because I don't know how the hell am I going to do by my books. But you get the heads up from the bookkeeper site. Yeah, so you just, you're going to make sure that you have, you know, that you have the funds there just to pay, you know, the GST and to get all of that kind of take because you don't want that to sit and what because then you know interest charges and stuff
Starting point is 00:02:08 it's best and you know there's nothing really look and see from uh from revenue can or whatever if you know you just pay the bills quickly and you move on it's just taking care of there's nothing to see here um oh make sure you have the money just make sure
Starting point is 00:02:24 you have you know yeah what are we talking about like a couple hundred thousand oh okay it's a lot of zeros there have to put some stuff on Kijiji here. Get some liquid, liquidity into the cash flow. Is I supposed to account for this over the year?
Starting point is 00:02:41 Like, was this supposed to be? Oh, okay. But you know what? It's a flat fuck Friday. Yes, it is. It's a family day weekend. Are you going to spend some quality time? And I'm already sick of my kids.
Starting point is 00:02:52 They are useless as tits. Yeah. Oh, wow. Welcome to the show. It's a presentation of Bet365. Game props, player props, totals the money line whatever your bed is it's never ordinary at bet three six five and it is humming today all kinds of games going on feels like oh that's hot is it i'll tell you what
Starting point is 00:03:12 there's a lot of there's a lot of action out there download the app get it in the game and we're rolling we're rolling live here on your friday the 13th that means we have got the super chat proceeds from super chats go to the use centers of calgary it's up to you it's up to you Up to you ladies and gentlemen out there watching today, whether it's a big number, no number, or what have you. We'll get into it as we are kind of remote today, the McLeod Law Studios from our comfortable homes today. The Pinder is off for an extended long weekend. And we're kind of on the fence. Like, are we going to do a, should we do a, we're going to.
Starting point is 00:03:53 It's because we care. No, it's because it's flat Friday. Yeah, yeah, it is flat. You all will come out of this feeling better. Hey, I went in the gym this morning. I didn't want to. Good for you. Don't feel worse about it.
Starting point is 00:04:07 No. Adaboy. Yeah, like what can you do today to kind of rev up? Well, you can invite a bunch of idiot kids and teammates over to watch the team candidate game and watch them ramrod around your house and wreck everything and kick your new dog. That's right. Yeah. You are doing that today. That is today.
Starting point is 00:04:27 How did that come about? Because you're, uh, we're, we're. We were Vaughn told that it would be a good idea. Yeah. That's generally how it goes out on the team chat. We'd like to have this happen. Is anyone willing to cricket host? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Kind of crickets. Nothing. Yeah. And then there's a direct message that's not for everyone, all eyes to see. Mm-hmm. You know, we'd really like to, is there any? It'd be great for the team if we could be so much fun, you know.
Starting point is 00:04:58 I remember whichever one it was, the whatever games, when they were really, really good. Two games ago, three, well, everybody ago. And my oldest at the time was playing. But they played the gold medal game early, like a 6am or a 6.37 a.m. and we had the kids hockey team over. It was anti-climactic because it was all Canada. They didn't trail in that entire tournament.
Starting point is 00:05:25 They obviously won gold rather easily. Um, but we had bacon. What are you going to be serving? Well, that was the one that we were told, or I'm sure it'll happen. Just toast. We got everything. We're bringing everything. So I'm not making anything.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Gotcha. The door's going to open. There's going to be TV on. I got out to gold medal. The world junior's gold. It's an Olympic, damn it. Yeah, yeah. About that, that will be less than impressive for most kids.
Starting point is 00:05:56 You, you go, no, it's, listen, that's, that's, representing our country on a world stage gold medal. It's not like you're playing, you know, cribbage or something. I'm not like yet. If you want to go in any tournaments, I mean Jack, I don't know how to play crib. Well, it's math. Yeah, right?
Starting point is 00:06:17 Like I. It's math. All math. It's all adding. I literally have on my phone, how, like, I'm kind of a, how many tabs do I have open right now on my phone? 153. Is that too many? Is that a lot? No.
Starting point is 00:06:33 And one of them is how to play cribbage. There it is. How did that come up? Well, I want to learn how to play crib. You know, I'm an old fuck now. I got, that's what old fucks do is play crib. Cribbage is a two to four player card game where the objective is to be the first to score 121 points tracked on a pegging board.
Starting point is 00:06:56 It is Friday. Players deal six cards, discard two. to a crib, an extra hand for the dealer and a starter card with the 15s and pairs and runs. Even the explanation kind of gets me. It kind of gets me there a little bit. It's like when you get asked
Starting point is 00:07:13 to do your bookkeeping and he get in all the information. Yeah, that's right. Make sure you've got ooh, that's all right. So, you know, put the NHL off here. We're going to have some days between games. Maybe I'll take up crib.
Starting point is 00:07:27 That's a fun game. Yeah? Atlis used to love playing crib. Yeah. It's a big crib. player. Yeah, lots of crib in our family. Yeah, my Bobba loved playing the crib. They'd get around there, whatever, 6-2, 6-4-4-2. I don't know what you guys are
Starting point is 00:07:42 talking about, but I do like, it looks like little people, little peg there. That'd be fun. Not fun enough, apparently. Speaking of things that we could be doing, Jack, how's the, how's the book club? Have you been, uh, I'm still, uh, just one chapter. One chapter in? One chapter in. No one. chapter one twice. Yes. But you're one chapter in.
Starting point is 00:08:05 One chapter. It's a long weekend. We're off on Monday. Yes. And I've got shit all going on. When we convene on Tuesday. And I'll ask you, Jack, uh, what, uh, how many chapters in are you?
Starting point is 00:08:20 What do you think that answer will be? Let's set a goal. I think chapter five is the goal. I got Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. I'm doing F all my life. I can get through four chapters. Okay. Chapter a day.
Starting point is 00:08:37 So you'll be done chapter five? Yes. Full chapters in. Five full chapters in. I read if you were a bit 365, what would you, are you, what's your level of confidence? I was actually contemplating this because I was going, okay, if he gets into the book. So he gets into a couple chapters. Then it's a great book.
Starting point is 00:09:00 I'm going to want to put it down. maybe he cruises through more. Problem is I don't see him getting into it at all or even opening it. So I'm going to go way on. What? Yeah, that is part of it. You kind of need to be into it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:13 And to get into it, you kind of need to absorb it. It feels like that's part of it is the words that your eyes are following and tracking need to kind of. That's the hardest part for you sending messages to your brain that there's something happening. I got no excuse. I literally have no plans. I have nowhere to be nothing to do but read a book. What is going on in the big city this weekend?
Starting point is 00:09:40 Are the roughnecks having a go? It's a great, honestly, I think there's a Valentine's a roughnecks game. The woman I live with, she said, do you want to go see a movie or what should we be? I have no idea what's happening.
Starting point is 00:09:58 I don't know what's at theaters. I don't know who is. It's not, I'm not even sure. One thing, make sure you do, do get outside because the shit is about to hit the fan. It's that right, eh? I believe so. I believe so I think that coming next week is winter, winter weather.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Lowes into the minus 20s. It's 23. Snow on Tuesday. February 14th, Roughnecks versus Philadelphia. February 15th, Roughnecks versus your George Bulldogs, Dean.
Starting point is 00:10:39 Yeah. Go dogs. Woof, woof, woof. That's how that goes. Well, we'll figure it out. Might need to slide by bontan meats. Can I just? It might be one of those things where if there's really not a whole,
Starting point is 00:10:55 that if you're just going to be hanging around, you may as well put some piece of red, big chunk of red meat into your oven or your barbecue and let it sit there. for a few hours. You know what I mean? It's a great idea. Oh, God, I'm so smart. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Get up there, load up. Take some pictures of all the... Maybe a beer can't chicken, well, it's nice out. I did one this week. I forgot to tell you. And delicious. Jack?
Starting point is 00:11:23 What does Bad Bunny say? Say Magnethe. That's right. It was Seemunique. It was so good. And it's, it's on. even a cocky thing. I feel like I'm kind of undefeated when it comes to beer can chicken because every time I make it, it's moist. I don't know if anyone's ever been defeated
Starting point is 00:11:41 when they've made beer can chicken. I mean, definitely don't leave it on there all day, have some sort of semblance of reality brain in your head. Do you know what the beer can't, like you know what it is, Jack, right? Yes, I do. I've never had it, but I do know what it is. Now, on one hand, it's roasted chicken. So let's, you know, don't get too, you know, you No, too excited. But at the end of the day. I get excited. Crisp skin.
Starting point is 00:12:09 So good. Crispy skin. Let it sit for a little bit. All the juice. Yeah, it was really, really good. Yeah. God. Bontan meats.
Starting point is 00:12:23 You go for the red meat. I said red meat. You can do poultry as well. I'm not here to, I'm not here to box you in. The tradition is rich. at Bontan Meets, quality products, the best personalized service for over 100 years. AAA Alberta beef, locally raised fresh pork, free range chicken, turkey, Alberta lamb, milk fed veal.
Starting point is 00:12:46 In-store salads are delicious. Meat pies. I'm doing it. I'm doing it. There you are. Best meat in deli. Southern Alberta's Consumer Choice Award winner for 24 straight year, 25 straight years, 28 crow foot circle in the northwest.
Starting point is 00:13:04 Get the desserts. I love it so much. The potato salad, that beer can't chicken and potato salad would be an absolute banger this week. Yeah. Yeah. That's happening. That is happening. Have you been watching any of the Milan games?
Starting point is 00:13:19 I had the games on. The games are always on. I'm not going to lie. I'm not captivated by much of it yet. I don't know why. I saw a lot of wipeouts and the hats. Half pipe. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:38 Saw some average hockey, men's and women's. Saw some ice dancing, which again isn't typically my thing, but it's the Olympics. I'm giving it a go. Yeah, yeah. It's on. It's definitely on. It's on at the house. Winter Olympics are tougher.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Like even in the summer stuff, I feel like I can get more into it. Like, look at that shot putter. what a mahus of human that is and he's really tossing that ball. I think we'll get there. I hope so. I don't want to say I'm a, I know I sound fuddy, dutty and grumpy, but
Starting point is 00:14:22 oh, I'm having a tougher time. Well, there was a bit of a, you know, the, um, Chequia, a bit of a scare this morning as, uh, they were up to nothing on France. France had yet to score a goal in the tournament. They were heavily being outshot. were the French.
Starting point is 00:14:41 And then our buddy Dan Vladar. Disco, Dan, in net for Czechia. He gave up three goals in just under five minutes. Oh, he fell asleep. Oh, he fell asleep. Oh, you know the French, the St. Paris, where they were pumped. They were all watching in France. But the lead has since evaporated.
Starting point is 00:15:02 And Roman Churvenka, you remember him. Wherever a flight. Just scored a beauty on a backhand. to 6-3 now. They're making goal-tending change. Ah, he was so good for so long. Not one goal you've never heard of. He's coming out for the other goal
Starting point is 00:15:22 you've never heard of. That's rough. Shots 26 to 8. My buddy, old Stevie Montador, what a donkey. He got kicked out of the French League during the lockout. I don't know if I've ever got the full story from him.
Starting point is 00:15:38 I guess I can't now, but all of a sudden he was back in Calgary. I'm like, it's probably best, right? What? Well, such a, one of those things. Sex, bro.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And it's funny when those things happen, it's, everyone has the interest in getting you out. The country, the league, the town,
Starting point is 00:15:59 they're all happy to see you leave. I'm over in France playing with Ryan Pact. Right on. What are you doing back? You know, this guy, you know. Cheap shot. Yeah. Go, Monty.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Go, Monty. It's been a while now, hey? Yeah, that's this weekend. Sunday. Yeah. I wasn't thinking about that specifically. I wasn't either. When you bring it up.
Starting point is 00:16:30 It wasn't either. Like, I wasn't even thinking the Monty thing just popped in my head. And that's, yeah. Yeah. Well, now I'm really. Bring me a trick. Goddell! Need a toast.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Jack, let's go for a drink. Let's go. You don't even know who my buddy Monty is. You loved him. He loved you. Yeah, he loved everybody. Yeah, Steve Monador. For former Flame.
Starting point is 00:16:57 How old would junior when he passed? Ah, the young, his boy, they moved to, they made a journey. They moved to North Carolina. This last fall here, he's playing baseball. and running around down there in a sense. So he would, well, it's 2015. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:15 So it's 11, he's 11 years old. There, Momo. There you go. He's an athlete like his old man. Lucky bastard. Salute to, uh, to Monty, uh, senior and junior on the show today. See, it's a good thing we did a show. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:33 Good thing we did a show. Jack, find some highlights of old Steve. Seriously. Yeah, there's one that, one that, that's, definitely stands out. But, um, I mean,
Starting point is 00:17:44 walk me, I don't need to go too far down. Whatever. We got nothing else. Yeah, because I'm obviously covering the team when Monty came in. That was, I mean,
Starting point is 00:17:53 Gio was, was young and like, whose, whose spots were up for grabs, kind of that, that vintage. Monty had been playing with Jimmy play fair. Uh,
Starting point is 00:18:04 where were the flames out east, the farm team? Yeah. St. John. Is it St. John? the Johns.
Starting point is 00:18:12 Either way. One of them. So he was out there playing and Playfair was the coach and they won a championship. Mickey DuPont was on that team. Right. They were very good. And then I got traded here at camp and who, me, Ference, Regear, Leopold, Goce. Who am I not thinking of?
Starting point is 00:18:38 But there was like one or two spots open and comment. I've said this before, Commodore completely outplayed Monta to the point where I was like, oh, I like to hang out with Monty. I just met him, but I'm like, oh,
Starting point is 00:18:49 I could get along with this guy. And then they cut Commy, and he was pissed. And he should have told that story. Yeah. Yeah. And he should have been pissed, but Jimmy liked Monty.
Starting point is 00:19:01 And I've told this story where Jimmy had a soft spot. And I think Darrell did too. And I think they just trusted him. And he was a little bit older. so maybe they felt like Cami going to the miners wasn't the end of the world but Monty was here and I
Starting point is 00:19:16 Yeah you know what Same age it says here both were 23 at the time Yeah Monty Different paths to where they were Commy would have been a highly sought after defenseman Monty would have been a I'm going to find a way to get their defenseman Yeah Leopold Lidman
Starting point is 00:19:33 Regear Yourself Ference Denigoche And Monty Yeah, and how don't you love those guys that there was no, like you say, there was no real, he played in the Ontario League, excuse me, but played until, you know, played until he was 20, was a fine defenseman or what have you. But then it was the St. John Flames. Yep.
Starting point is 00:19:58 And then started to dip a toe. 01,02, he played 11 games, 0203, played 50 games. So yeah, just kind of steady, right? Just worked his way into it. steady and then carved out 5771 in HL games. 571.
Starting point is 00:20:17 It's a big number, dude. It is a big number. He played a lot of teams after he left. He did. And I still can't decide if he made the right decision. I remember we were in Detroit when they traded him and he was pouting and moaning and pissed off because he wasn't playing a bunch and he probably should have been.
Starting point is 00:20:32 And he was kind of like, well, I need to play. And Darrell was like, well, I don't know. So they finally traded him to. Florida. Yeah. Calgary, Anaheim, Buffalo, and Chicago, Boston,
Starting point is 00:20:49 Buffalo and Chicago. And yes, 15 games with Mulhouse in the French League in 0405. 15 quick nights. Son, we're going to need you to flee the country here or, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:04 I believe he played for another team over there too. The old hitman head coach came from the KHO. But it was the Croatian team. It doesn't matter what a terrible story. If you can't remember the names. There you go.
Starting point is 00:21:28 Sawgreb. The buzzers. Rockford Ice Hogs. Chicago near the end. I don't remember the, uh, maybe I do with the ducks, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Good guy. And that was a big trade. When you think about it for the flames, he and Dustin John. for Christian Hussalius. That's how juice was juice comes to be a, uh, a Cogarie flame. Highly skilled. Yeah. Small head. Tiny dome. Yes. Yeah. Tiny dome. Petal juice. Yeah. Just got some headphone picking up in the background there. Don't, uh, don't mind. Come on. Come on. He can add to the show. I don't think so. Um, there's only one. I mean,
Starting point is 00:22:19 looking for Montador highlights, one's going to come up. And I got all day for it. What a night. I remember where I was. Obviously, you remember where you were. Right? Do you remember where you were that? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Jack, where were you in, in 2004? I actually remember, no, I was alive. My dad would have people over for these playoff games and I vividly remember this goal. I was six.
Starting point is 00:22:47 Wow. Yes. I actually think I went to one or two of these games during that run. My dad brought me for some reason. Well, it's because he's wealthy and could afford it. Yeah, that's because he's the foot daddy. It was just one of those runs that you kind of felt awesome win over Vancouver. That was pretty cool. Somehow beats Detroit. Wow, it's horseshoes and all this sort of thing. Sounds like he's pretty good. That's a pretty good team. It can't continue. Can't. Can it? Can this run, this incredible run continue? Over time? Oh, maybe. It could be a big goal here. Could be a big one.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Back off. It's in a way. Simon's there. Hitchu lost his footing. Art behind and at this sign. I'm trying to power his way in front. No call. Simon, no call. And they shouldn't have been there. Here's a gindla. Jerome McGilla looking for a chance. Godinale. St.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Steve Bonadar is your hero in game one as the flames strike first in the Western Conference final. God. There's so much there I could watch it over and over. His first ever Stanley Cup
Starting point is 00:24:14 playoff goal and he'll never forget it. I almost feel like we need a Warner whiteboard on that. That would be a bad change for the San Jose Sharks. when Monty's roaring in with no one near him. Sending you a picture because these bums text me the other day. Wow, yeah, it was a change and it was turnover and Monty Jel.
Starting point is 00:24:44 I don't know. It was a part of the game. There was no way I thought he was scoring, though. I can't remember. I believe this is game two. Well, I know it's game two. Look at that. What patience.
Starting point is 00:24:57 Yeah, what patience. The best was the beaver tail. You could just hear. Oh, yeah. Rieming for it. Do you remember that, Jack? It's just you could hear, and even on that highlight, even though this video is very old by now,
Starting point is 00:25:14 you don't hear Monty yelling necessarily, but you hear that, pack, pack, pack, pack, pack. He's just, look at them, tick, tick, tick, right from the red line. I don't know what the sharks were doing, what were they doing? It was a complete breakdown.
Starting point is 00:25:30 I do love, we had him hemmed in. so they were all exhausted. Chi-Chi? Maybe. Who picks up the puck here? Owen Nolan? There's a chop to get it deep
Starting point is 00:25:43 and it does not go anywhere. And they all still go. One guy's tied up at the bench. But there's nowhere even, you know. And that, the gallop with the arms, I mean,
Starting point is 00:25:57 tell me you've never, you don't score a bunch of goals without telling me you don't score a bunch. Like, he's the happiest guy in the world. world and the dudes I'll tell you what everyone else was just as happy because they love them
Starting point is 00:26:12 look how excited everybody is for that guy look at sigh look at them that's the best because probably those two grumpy pricks were happy yeah and you'd be thinking
Starting point is 00:26:32 because it develops so slowly he's like oh so wide open it's Montador like why can't it be anybody but Monadorf. Why is it him? Scores. What patience.
Starting point is 00:26:45 The mile went wild. The mile did go wild. Look at all day. I think we squandered a lead in this game as well. I feel like we were up and they came back and tied it. And it was like, shit. This was our chance to go up too in San Jose. Tough barn.
Starting point is 00:27:12 I just want to see it here. Yeah, so that's game one. That's game one, yeah. Four, three, and or two. Okay. And then you won game two, four to one. Yeah, I knew we won one of them four to one. I thought it was the first one. And then I thought, oh, shit, we almost squandered game two.
Starting point is 00:27:31 Yeah. Because old Cuthbert ripping it there. First blood. Strike first. And then you donkeys go home. And lose both. And lose both. That might have cost us the Stanley Cup, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:27:46 with you. Because if we win both and put them away, we get rested and maybe healed up and don't get beat down more and Brett Warner's not playing five more minutes on. You know what? Sorry, Jack. I know you took it down already.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Yeah. You kind of joke there. What patience? There's something to that because a guy who doesn't score a bunch gets that open. Shut, get it off my stick fast. Like he waited and waited. and the Bacom finally did lose his net?
Starting point is 00:28:18 You've heard me, noodles and other guys talk about Monty. His greatest asset and worst asset was his confidence. And he would have, this is, he was, he would, it wouldn't even, this is what I'm doing. And I, you're right. Because if anything, you shoot it too quick, you hit Donovan and the defenseman in front or whatever. Because the ball comes, if I get this puck, I'm hoping to hit the net and get a rebound for somebody.
Starting point is 00:28:42 Yeah. And he just kind of waits, waits him out. God, love you, God, what that's, again, we kind of joke about it that there's all these great moments from a year where they didn't win. Like, it's kind of a,
Starting point is 00:29:00 be nice if there was a few more big wins in team history. There's one pop and a, from it. Yeah, from, if we can talk about Monty and this and still relish in it, but there should be a few more of these moments from now. Jack, sorry, could you go back to that last one?
Starting point is 00:29:18 The side view of the gallop. Yeah, just let this one. run because it during live play they showed you see it from behind the gallop here look at it he's nearly fallen over he's just out of his mind yeah waits him waits him far posting in yeah sots would have been happy there right that's oh the old just he's just removed from san jose he was Yeah, wound tight. Tight than usual. I mean, we could have had a five on two.
Starting point is 00:30:05 Yeah. All right. God love you, Monty. God love you. Love celebrating that. That's pretty great. Pretty great stuff. Tomorrow's Valentine's Day, we've been telling you all week.
Starting point is 00:30:29 We'll tell you again, Viena Nova. Labgrown diamonds, they're more affordable. 60, 70, 80 percent sometimes more affordable than what you're going to pay for an earthmine diamond it just doesn't make sense it only makes sense to go to market mall maybe it's a ring maybe it's earrings maybe it's a bracelet what's the thing that hangs around the neck necklace you know those sorts of things yeah yeah they love them lab grown diamonds same chemical composition crystal structure hardness and refraction of light as an earth mine diamond so much good parking too even though it's like it's uh whatever is family day weekend maybe
Starting point is 00:31:04 people going to them all. You're not going to have a hard time find a parking spot. Create a one of a kind lab grown creation maybe on your own. Not going to be ready for tomorrow, obviously. But it's the kind of things that we have the technology and the ability to do it. People are great. The reviews are through the roof
Starting point is 00:31:20 and more and more people are saying this only makes sense to get a perfect diamond created in a lab and pay far less to do so. Yeah, you show up with that on Saturday. You're going to do good. Oh, yeah, it's going to be it.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Today, maybe not a good day. Today's about tax man and stuff like that. Tomorrow will be a good day. You show up with some, some Vinova. And like I've said what I've done in the past, I know you've done the same thing. It's like, well, I don't know what to get. You just set it up.
Starting point is 00:31:51 Hey, here's, babe, here's what we're doing. Could maybe go having a nice brunch, you know? We'll go somewhere, have some eggs, Benny. Yeah. We're going to slide by market mall. I'm not going to take you to Vena Nova. but you can pick out something nice. Maybe you got a nice little, from there.
Starting point is 00:32:09 I got a little hotel or something. You can do it. Guys, you can. You can do it. Lots of room in the parking lot. You said they can park anywhere. Yeah. Just, you know, if you got a tent trailer, just pop that sucker up.
Starting point is 00:32:23 Classy. Those would be our guys. Yeah, babe. We'll load up the tent trailer. It's a great weekend. Nice out. Get the habachi going. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:33 I mean, if you want some. jewelry or something too. That'd be all right. We'll do the, we can do the Pinder Report. You know, I put the, oh, and we'll show this. Speaking, before we completely leave 2004, there were some beauties on that team. Monty was obviously one of them. When did you get this sent to you earlier this week?
Starting point is 00:32:53 Just a couple days ago, yeah. A couple days ago. Maybe last weekend. So the guy on the right, he kind of made the John Deere hat famous during that run, which, you know, You wouldn't think for... Is he Canadian? He's a prairie boy? No, no, he's European.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Oh, okay. So you got this sent to you. Saturday. Saturday, 2.30 in the afternoon. With the note at the bottom, cheers from your very skilled 04 euros. Yanni Ninaima, or no, not... Ville Neimanen, thank you, and Marcus Nilsson.
Starting point is 00:33:29 The boys look like they're maybe into one. The big beak. I was kind of disappointed when when Neiman and left because he was a U.S. I don't know why they got like he totally fits our mold ship disturber
Starting point is 00:33:48 good speed why did he leave he went to Chicago right didn't he go and sign there as a free agent I mean it's Chicago I guess you know what the one fly in the ointment of all this
Starting point is 00:34:01 is the lockout I don't know what Daryl's going to do without the lockout, but because of the lockout, you guys even, I mean, we alluded to it with Finoff, geez, I guess it's because there's no NHL being played right now. We're trying to find things to talk about. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:19 But that lockout effed up a lot of things. A lot of things. And had it backwards, left Chicago to come here. Yeah. So that's how that worked. He came here and then went to him. I don't know where he went after, but it feels like, well, it was.
Starting point is 00:34:33 It was him. And jelly left. Monty came back but for a very short time who else was like Ola Wall left yeah did Lowry leave
Starting point is 00:34:47 Lowry was like there was a lot of changes to and the stupidest effing thing ever Bob we're not giving up a salary cap
Starting point is 00:35:01 you just cost us all year salary you dick yeah Yeah. Here's a Neiman and we play hospital hockey. Lots of patience. That's right.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Nemo. There are a lot of, I mean, every team has a person. I don't know. Does every team have personalities now? I don't know, man.
Starting point is 00:35:30 The Panthers won and I feel like there's a lot of those guys have personality. Yeah, I don't know. The Oilers don't have personality, do they? Like, is, It's a league of wash in personalities, and maybe it never was. Maybe the guys with personality always stood out, but it doesn't.
Starting point is 00:35:49 Where's the JR? I think so many guys, it's, and trained out of them. Well, yeah, and Poreck. Safe her not to be. Yeah, Porek took shit, say anybody. He's like, well, you know, they kind of tell you not to say anything. I just kind of want to, yeah, we try and snuff the personality out because you don't want to say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing or all of there's videos everywhere. It's well, you can still be, you can still have fun with the game.
Starting point is 00:36:13 It feels like the game is work for a lot of people. It does. And even having kids go through it, it's work from a very young age. Yeah. Yeah, it feels like there's a lot of times we're going to the rink, too much like a job for what it should be. Yeah, some real. And it shows as a product because they don't have that bite and a piss and vinegar kind of attitude as much as you'd like to. see it. Yeah. It can be there and the playoffs come around and the four nations comes around and
Starting point is 00:36:44 championships in the Olympics. I'm sure there'll be some damn fine hockey. Yeah. But December 10th, and you need, there's, there's guys that of personality and this is not to blow smoke up your thing, but you also need guys who maybe you're not, not everyday stand-up comedy, but you need guys who can recognize when it's like, who, it's a little heavy. We've got to lighten some shit. Brian Scroodland taught us that. Brian Skrudlin taught us that enjoy being there. And when it's hard, that's the fun part. Just don't, don't be moping about.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Yeah. Find a way to get away from it, make it fun, do something if it's getting a little bit too heavy. Because I think it can. And we contribute to it. You lose a couple, lots of couple, get three. Oh, they're on a losing streak. Oh, they're losing. Well, why is he playing?
Starting point is 00:37:36 Well, they shouldn't be playing him too much, this sort of thing. The pressure is immense at the NH. level, but man, it should be the best time of your life. And I don't know for a lot of guys that it is. I don't know. I don't know if it is either, which is part of the, again, I speak to the, I think that that can be part of the problem is that they're going through this to get through it, to get to the best part of their life.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Yeah. Oh, no. Going into that room should be the best part of your life. Yeah. When I retire and my bank's full, my bank accounts got lots in it. Then I can really start to enjoy life. when it should be that that should be the heart like for guys like you that's the hardest part of life is leaving that behind and moving into the next chapter and you you come to realize that it's not as bad as you think and you don't dread it but yeah it's should be a lot of fun I would think that you know what the Chicago black hawk again we look at the winners but I feel like that black hawks team incredibly skilled but they seemed like a young team that had fun you mentioned Florida we see the way they celebrate the cups like that's that's a team that's enjoying themselves.
Starting point is 00:38:43 And maybe that's what it takes us to win to be able to show that personality, but I don't, I just think around the league that. Like I think about guys and it's how do you criticize Nathan McKinnon or Connor McDavid? How do you do it? I don't. I don't because each to his own, Marty Jonas was a very wonderful person, but he wasn't. But like those two guys control their dressing room.
Starting point is 00:39:05 And, and I had kind of said it before, I feel like if, if things aren't going well or can you go in that room and kind of be lighthearted? I don't. You have to know how to navigate a room. Because you've been in a room your whole life, you should know how to navigate a room. Jerome McGinnler was our captain. Jerome needed all the help.
Starting point is 00:39:30 Jerome was our on-ice leader. He was not the motivator of getting everything else organized. I would think from a million miles away that McKinnon would be hard because it feels like he wants everyone to do it the way he does it. And I have no insight on that just my general take
Starting point is 00:39:51 and thoughts. I feel like McDavid would be hugely supported by having guys that had personality that made it fun and allowed him just to do what he needed to do. And they maybe have those guys but like you say, from the outside, like I don't, Nuge doesn't strike me as that guy.
Starting point is 00:40:07 He seems kind of a quiet. Yeah. Nurse isn't Boucher. doesn't look like it's like which is not like guys don't have fun and they're not good guys but it feels like when it gets serious how do you
Starting point is 00:40:21 how do you flip it? Because yeah, McKinnon is a red ass maybe as big as we've seen in a long time the way he trains the expectations he's yelling at his coach and arguments and the stuff that he runs incredibly hot and that's what makes him one of the best in the world but if you are not one of the best
Starting point is 00:40:40 and you're in that room, I just wonder if you're celebrating a goal, you're trying to have a good time, how that, if that just inevitably comes off the wrong way to those guys. And I brought it up yesterday with Berzvann in Buffalo. I have no idea if he has any direct contact with players. I could be completely yelling into the wind. But I feel like he's an example of a guy that has fun. and what you might see with teams if they started to enjoy.
Starting point is 00:41:13 And if he's a reason for that in Buffalo, awesome. If he's not, then I'm just crazy. But you got to have fun to help you win, but you don't have, but you got to win to have, it's always the same thing, same when you're playing. Well, I'm not getting enough ice time. I need ice time to prove what I can do.
Starting point is 00:41:32 Like, no, you've got to prove what you can do to get ice time. Oh, well. Yeah. Yeah, chicken egg. David has a quick one for you. Is there less pressure playing in the U.S. than Canada? Yeah. Yep.
Starting point is 00:41:50 It just is. It's not the national. Not every market. No, not every market and not on a personal level. And it's not, I don't think that when, I don't think that guys take it lightly, but there's less pressure. Why are guys of Pavlbury wanted to play in Florida?
Starting point is 00:42:07 Why? No one knew. You can go to the store. Yeah, there's it's definitely less pressure. If Canada loses, they're going to get railed as a failure. Like, we make fun of the 06 team. Kind of, right? Like, it's, it's disdain might be a harsh word, but it's like, we're not fond of you, fellas.
Starting point is 00:42:33 You boys let us down. Yeah, there's a real. You can't name an American. Loss of respect in a way when it's, well, we didn't win. Sorry. We didn't, uh, we weren't. the best in the world at this tournament at this point in our lives.
Starting point is 00:42:47 It does get ratcheted up for sure. Which makes it hard to have fun and be light because then it's like, well, do you guys even care? Do you even want to win? Can it be both? Can it be all of it? Canadians lose this. They've lost world juniors, haven't won that for a while. They'll lose the Olympics.
Starting point is 00:43:06 The Americans, we just beat them in the four nations, but she was tight. We don't have a goal. Like, you can see some. Summets, the old summit, like we take, the Americans lose. Oh, what a let down. Next day, never thought about it. Yeah, just keep doing what we're doing. I hope Canada doesn't lose this tournament.
Starting point is 00:43:28 I hope it's the same intensity as four nations, which I thought it's going to be a joke. Yeah. We'll do the, uh, the old, uh, the old Pinder report, sans Pinder today. It's brought to you by Village Honda. VillageHonda.com is the website. Northwest Automol online at villagehonda.com. It's their $2 million big buy-in event. $2 million.
Starting point is 00:43:52 Putting money where their mouth is. They want your vehicle. Any make, any model, any year, no purchase necessary, complementary appraisals, competitive pricing. And if you get a deal done payment in 24 hours, and even if you got something else going on, you're returning a lease to a different dealership,
Starting point is 00:44:06 you're trading it in a vehicle somewhere else. Talk with them first. It's free. Maybe it works out. Maybe it doesn't. But then at least you know you feel good about what it is that you're doing with your vehicle purchase. Village Honda.com is where you can start that complementary appraisal process. I'll hit this thing even though.
Starting point is 00:44:32 Mountains, right? Is that what he did? He was going to. Yep. That's a nice place to be. Why not? Why not? Couldn't get a dog because he wanted to go to the mountains.
Starting point is 00:44:40 Right. How's your dog? Great. there are days where you're really impressed with the dogs and then there are other days like you're a bit of a donkey kind of like the owners the dogs are having the same conversation it's like oh big boys in a mood today
Starting point is 00:44:59 no treats today I almost laid it out for the boys they almost said pops he's in one so if you want to push your you want to hear about it just push the button see I like that yeah just being open it on with everybody. No harm in that. I guess we can start with the Milan Games.
Starting point is 00:45:20 Canada, Switzerland, it's a game day. I didn't even say, helmet's on. Get your helmet on. It's a game day. Canada, Switzerland at 110 Mountain Time. So coming up in not too distant future. Canada, cruised past Chequia 5 zip yesterday. Jordan Binnington made 26 saves and the shutout win. He's in a can't win spot. if he wins well okay you didn't lose
Starting point is 00:45:46 is kind of how it feels and then if he loses well see it's because you're terrible and everybody trots out and pender's talked about he's having one of the worst season one of the worst he's playing on the blues who are one of the leagues worst as well if demco were healthy
Starting point is 00:46:02 what would his numbers be in Vancouver it's just it's hard to be a goalie when you're team now are you contributing to that yeah probably a sub 900 save percentage is going to do that but he looked fine yesterday. The Swiss, who they will play today, they beat France for nothing.
Starting point is 00:46:19 It was Tim O'Meyer with a pair of goals. So there's that. Canada will be heavily favored. Logan Thompson is expected to start. John Cooper said before the tournament started that a different goalie would start game two than in game one. And Thompson was first off the ice in their little pre-morning thing.
Starting point is 00:46:37 So it sounds like Thompson will be the guy. Good. Not shocked. Josh Morrissey was injured in this game yesterday, left in the second period, undisclosed injury. They're not getting too far into that. Travis Sandheim. It's pissed.
Starting point is 00:46:53 Yeah, I would not. We say it all the time. Somebody's going to get hurt. There's one in the first game. He's their defenseman in Winnipeg. Yeah, he is their guy. Just not their ear. Not their here in Winnipeg.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Travis Sandheim, healthy scratch. He'll likely draw in. And then Canada, after this will be off. Saturday, Sunday morning, they wrap round robin play against France, who did end up just losing to check you. The Americans, meanwhile, 5-1 win over Latvia Brock Nelson. Oh, should be under bees, right? Here's a problem.
Starting point is 00:47:31 You know that music? Do I? No. Okay. My kid is apparently blasting music in the gyms. Oh, no, no. I can't hear nothing, that. There we go. Should put that with the bees.
Starting point is 00:47:45 Why is it all by itself over there? And I have two. I have one that just sits here at home and I have another one at work. But they have different profiles. So it's not set up quite the same. It's like, well, lucky for you.
Starting point is 00:47:58 You got a long weekend and nothing to do. Yeah. Get my soundboard details figured out. So yeah, France losing. They had a bit dabletar, disco Dan, settled in.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Finland shocked Sweden today, 4 to 1. Philip Gustafson. Two goals. on the first four shots that he faced. Sweden and Finland now both one and one. Tied for second in Group B behind the Slovaks. They're two and O.
Starting point is 00:48:25 They beat Italy three to two. Former Flame Adam Rizhika had the game winner there. So that's a great rivalry. The Swedes and the Finns. You think, oh, they're just nice people. They're good. They hate each other. They're vicious.
Starting point is 00:48:37 They're Vikings. Yeah. Hate each other. Have you spent much time over there, Norway, Sweden, Finland? Nope. It is a nice part of the world. I've been there, I've not spent much time and most of it was it's like I've been to Japan.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Well, how was it? Well, a rink's a rink. So hotels are a little bit different, but I didn't travel and tech it all out. So how it all works, they'll finish this round, Rob, but it's pretty quick. Everybody just, they've got the different, they've got the four groups, 12 team tournament. The top four, the winners, the top team in each of the groups, they advance to the quarterfinals. So there's your first four teams. The other eight, they go head to head in one game kind of things.
Starting point is 00:49:22 They'll stack four teams that win those games. They move on into the quarterfinals. And then it's the semis and then the finals. That's how that works. Quarters before semis. Semis after quarters but before finals. And finals come after all of the other stuff. Women's hockey, Marie-Philippe Poulin, back in the ice today.
Starting point is 00:49:46 She had a right leg injury against Czechie on Monday. she's missed the last couple of games, a loss and a victory. They play Germany tomorrow, so we're hopeful that Marie Filippe can be, um, Manifique. Charlie horse. Yeah. I don't know. I thought there wasn't hitting.
Starting point is 00:50:05 I thought they weren't allowed to hit. Well, I don't know if they meant to you. She took a pretty good, uh, she took a pretty good, uh, kind of like one of those beer league ones where it's like, who. I hope you don't get hit like that in beer league. That was a solid, that was a solid. and blow. Men's curling. Canada beat the U.S.
Starting point is 00:50:24 6 to 3. I think they're playing the Swedes right now. It's a lot going on with these the games, Milan games. And as Pinder would say, our boy, Benny, Betty Hebes, Benny Ebert is part of Team Canada. Yes, it is a
Starting point is 00:50:40 scoreless in the first end between the Swedes and Canada. I'll go be dialed right into that. He'll have a bacon cheese sandwich going on. Yeah. Yeah, there will be a lot of that going on. Women's curling, Rachel Holman dropped the 9-8 decision to the Americans. They had a lead going into the 10th. But the Americans had the hammer, open draw for the deuce.
Starting point is 00:51:00 Canada goes to 1-1. It was on this day back in 1988. Where were you, Rhett? I was kicking ass. I was a Saskatoon Raider, Dean. I was probably 38, so I was grade 6, 7-ish. probably had a nice Valentine's card for my lady. Oh, for sure, yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:22 Yeah. Probably a stack of them, right? All the girls trying to win Curry favor with Rhett Warner. It was on this day, the 13th of whatever month this is. February. The 88 Olympics opening ceremonies here in our fine city. Yeah. The McMahon Stadium was alive and electric as they had doves and balloons.
Starting point is 00:51:47 and horses and drummers, we may get pulled down because of this. And if so, Jack, I apologize for ruining the rest of Gerdin. But I feel like, what's, this is awesome. I don't care. Statute of limitations from 88. Cat show whatever these are.
Starting point is 00:52:07 Yeah, what are the? Yeah, it's, um, that's a great Halloween. I should have been in Calgary, but I couldn't afford it. Right. Yeah. So, you know, it's the Winter Olympics with the Chuck Wagon races. We don't piss around out here, out west.
Starting point is 00:52:33 We're Canadian. We're tough. Lina, we're roping. We're roping and riding. Got her big hat on. I like it. I do too. I don't get into the car.
Starting point is 00:52:49 Can you afford it in this and I say? I don't know. There's a lot of things I'd like that I can't afford. We can't afford anything. I can't afford shit. Yeah. Brian Orser. Do you know what he was, Jack?
Starting point is 00:53:01 No. What did he do? He was a figure skater. Figure skater. Yeah. And there it is. Light that some bitch. And the games were on and electric.
Starting point is 00:53:19 All right. We get it. So here's what you need to do. When you get to the top, you do it. Can I just light? No, you can't just light. it. So that was on this date in 1988. Another one of our guys, Julian McKenzie,
Starting point is 00:53:37 worked for the athletic writer. You know, he's kind of one of those guys. I've told him this. He's like a multi-tool player, like a baseball player that can steal bass and hit power and all this sort of thing. That's like this guy. Podcaster, writer, does television. He's very talented guy. I've got a lot of respect for him. Has written a book. He's going to be in our city. Julie McKenzie.
Starting point is 00:53:58 It's called Black Aces. Essential Stories from hockey's Black Trailblazers. March 4th. Going to be in town. Doing a book signing. A little Q&A event at King Solomon's birthday.
Starting point is 00:54:09 Is that what it at March 4th? Just immediately. Meridian Road in the Northeast. Go and see Julian. Shake his hand, ask him some questions. Buy a book. He'll sign it for you. He's a sweet, sweet boy.
Starting point is 00:54:25 Like that guy. What's this place he's at? I'm going to Google that. King Solomon's. kitchen. Must be food. It's be a weird name for
Starting point is 00:54:34 if it's a bookstore without food. Yeah. Look at Julie is so happy. You wrote a buck. You ever think about writing a book? You read a lot of books.
Starting point is 00:54:44 Nope. It's a lot of writing. Yeah, it's a lot of writing. Jamaican cuisine, rent. I don't know that I've ever gone to a Jamaican restaurant, but I've had many people who have
Starting point is 00:54:56 and said it's phenomenal. Well, you should take your girlfriend. It's your birthday. Get her a book. Have a bite to eat. It's all working out. I didn't see this at the time. I saw it kind of came across my feed yesterday. The Ashawah Generals. They're a team in the Ontario Hockey League. It's junior hockey league. They issued, I guess, kind of an apology. So we can do that one first, I guess. the, the Jen's Nation.
Starting point is 00:55:32 This was on their X account. Hey, Jen's Nation, we took a penalty on that last one. It's not like our place to overstep like you did. Sorry, hopefully we can wash this one off. So, hmm, well, what, what did you do? What, what was had? And there was some sort of a email or something that went out. And we do have that one too, Jack.
Starting point is 00:55:51 I guess the season ticket holders to the ticket buying public. Have you been to Oshawa? The Shua, as they kind of call it out there. believe I have, no? Isn't that where Lindross played? Yes. Quote, we're thrilled to have you
Starting point is 00:56:08 with us each and every game and appreciate the energy you bring to the arena. To help ensure a clean, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for everyone, we kindly ask for your cooperation with a few simple hygiene practices. Please make use of the hand sanitizing stations located throughout the arena, cover coughs
Starting point is 00:56:23 and sneezes, and be mindful of personal cleanliness while sharing our space with fellow fans. If you went to the gym or did something that produced body odor, please shower before attending the game. I would need, like, what precipitated this going out? Yes, what is the backstory? Yes. My goodness.
Starting point is 00:56:48 If you went to the gym or did something that produced body odor, please shower before attending the game. Oh, man. Like it's a well thought. thought out message. Yeah, they're trying to be respectful. Yeah, but you did actually send it out. Did feel, yeah, you were compelled by someone or some group of people that it was necessary to hit the entire fan base or ticket buying audience with an email that said, hey, stinky arse, maybe a, maybe a shower and a fresh change of clothes before you come to the game.
Starting point is 00:57:29 Must be like going to the hippo take. Must be just like it up there. Wow. That's interesting. I've never seen that. Then you apologize for that. Yeah. It's like, hey, and try to kind of have some fun with it. It's like, okay, you're kind of, hey, I hope we can wash this one off. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:57:47 Yeah. You did kind of insinuate that your, uh, your season ticket holders need a shower. And as Pinder would do, um, we'll end with, uh, you know, Dean, you like dogs. Dean, you like dogs. we'll end with some dogs, dogs. This video, I hope you guys didn't run this one, because I was away and I feel like there's been a lot of dog videos. But they say that dog is man's best friend,
Starting point is 00:58:17 that they are loyal and they will protect you. And they're, you know, if you're ever in danger, they're going to have you. They have your back and protect you against whatever danger. This was people who had food out for the dog and then mimic being attacked. by an attacker or something to see. This was on my TV last night.
Starting point is 00:58:40 How would the dog react if you were in fact in serious danger? Dogs care about certain things. And you can go ahead, Jack. And I think that... Shelby doesn't give a shit. Guys, a little bit of what? I saw this. It's like, oh, I kind of...
Starting point is 00:59:38 There's some... So either dogs maybe aren't as loyal as we think or they're smarter than we know because they know it's a ruse. It's like quit fucking around. I know it's your buddies. Got some delicious kibbles and bits over here. They do start to feverishly eat. They eat at a quicker rate. And then maybe it's to go and help.
Starting point is 01:00:09 Maybe that's what happens. Not sure. So there you go. That's a pin-per point. That's crazy that you have this on. Last night I went upstairs and my youngest had been pissing around. I'm like, what the hell you don't have there? So he had the TV on in our room,
Starting point is 01:00:22 and this is what he was watching. I maybe see it backwards. I'm surprised that anybody else had this on when we have it. Anything that we would show, I'm surprised that anybody else would ever have interested. My kids at our level? Oh, no. Yeah, just anybody.
Starting point is 01:00:37 So I saw that on the Pinder. Oh, that's weird. Village Honda. The prelude is back. The touring CRV, the 2026 hybrid is in stock with the hybrid tube motor, hybrid power train. It's kind of the same thing.
Starting point is 01:00:52 They got this two motor hybrid thing that they got going there. When one isn't enough. That's when Village Honda and Honda comes in. Because two's got to be better than one. That's what you say, right? Always. Always.
Starting point is 01:01:06 Two of anything. Always. Kind of for, uh, drag her. Do you sense he picks? He didn't send any picks. This was the, uh, he says,
Starting point is 01:01:22 I'm out tomorrow. traveled with the flu today. F me, not good. At least I will be in bed at the cabin. So yeah, he's off this week. He went out to his, his cabbage as he calls it there in Manitoba, but he's, uh, he's fighting it.
Starting point is 01:01:37 Yeah, so. That is no Bueno at all. No one wants to travel. Oh, there's the big boy. Oh. Come on. And you have bad things to say about that dog? Bring them over.
Starting point is 01:02:06 And then, and then you can, leave. Where's my coffee? I don't want the damn. Okay. What a good boy. Greg Keller texted me yesterday.
Starting point is 01:02:17 Did Red get a dog? Yeah. He said, what? He couldn't believe it. Yeah. Oh, well, here. I'll hold this up. I was cleaning the office yesterday.
Starting point is 01:02:30 As you could tell by the... Yeah, it's spick and span. I don't know if you can read it. Oh, dear dad, we all really want Louis back. When Louis's not here, we feel sad and almost start crying I do sometimes. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 01:02:47 That makes me feel awful. Jeez. Failing. But totally redeemed yourself. Hey? Are they? Now that's the question. I was actually going to have that because there was a big pressure on you. We want a dog.
Starting point is 01:03:06 Need the dog. Love the dog. I have found with kids anything that they want very badly. They love it for a while. And then when the novelty wears off, it becomes just, oh, yeah, that's pretty great. Has the novelty started to wear off with the house? Not yet. There's a huge affection for the pooch. Here's the thing. It's just like with your girlfriends, Jack, you got to set a standard. Okay. The threat is real when old man grumpy pants says, you want me to get rid of that? No, no, don't do that. Because we can get rid of a dog.
Starting point is 01:03:43 It hurts my heart here. A threat is real and they know it. So. You're so evil. You're such a bad person. You've got to be able to follow through on these things. You've got to set a standard, Jack. Why do I feel like it's not one of the,
Starting point is 01:04:01 somebody didn't close the silverware drawer? Do you want me to get rid of this door? Like anything that happens? It's not like some huge. thing that the kids have done. Ah, that's good. Love it. It's a good boy.
Starting point is 01:04:17 He doesn't have the look of a dog that's going to be a bad dog. No, he's got a good demeanor. He looks like a dog that once he's through his puppy, he's just going to settle right in. He's pretty good. Nice. And has the name been settled yet? I'm open to,
Starting point is 01:04:32 it's open to discuss. Still open. Chunk is what the breeder called the dog. Chunk is what we've been. But, Yeah. Nobody dislikes chunk, kind of like chunk. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:43 But the shoveler's not convinced chunk is, should be the name. But then there's no agreeing on what the name should be, which. I do kind of like chunk. It's because it's, I don't know any other dogs named chunk. Yeah. He's not chunky. That's the only thing. But he could be a chunky boy.
Starting point is 01:05:04 Where's the chunker? Oh, the chunkster. It just, there's a lot of things you can really spin. I thought about calling him Monty as well. That was on the list. I don't know. I don't care. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:19 About anything. Chunker. So yeah, dregs would have joined us on the Crystal Waters plumbing and heating insider hotline today. So he was going to anyway, except he's down and out with the flu. Well, we kind of talked again, he had kind of, I dipped the toe. I said, are you working this week? And he did the, well, I'm going to the cabin.
Starting point is 01:05:39 And it's not a whole lot to talk about, you know, as you politely kind of steer someone in a direction. And then I didn't I didn't double back. I said to him like, that's totally fine. And then he just mentioned yesterday. It's not good. I am out tomorrow. God, that would suck. I'm glad he's in his at the cabbage.
Starting point is 01:05:57 Yeah. Or he feels great and he's ice fishing. He's got curling on. He's been ice fishing. He's got the sausage. Yeah. There's no way of knowing that they're never going to know one not sick. I just don't want to do that stupid show.
Starting point is 01:06:10 I got the terrible flu. Just terrible. I feel awful. Ever lost 10. I've lost 10. you can hear that it's in my lungs and come on to confirm that you're ill exactly but he's a good boy he'll get better and joins us on the crystal waters plumbing and heating insider hotline crystal waters over 24 years of experience 30,000 projects completed
Starting point is 01:06:37 maybe you're a home builder looking for high volume professional mechanical subcontractors you don't want to deal with that stuff but you want some of that you could absolutely trust to get the job done well and right and on time. Yes, sir. Have you thought about, is there anything you can, because I talk about that tankless water heater? I've thought about,
Starting point is 01:06:56 I need them to come because I got this new, I need them to come, finish off by sauna. I got the new thing coming in. And I'm going to have them put my, red light. Yeah, in there too. I saw that's a thing.
Starting point is 01:07:13 People are getting the sauna and then the red light therapy pads in there. pads in there. Yeah. You know what happens in saunas, Jack? Heart attacks. Sweat. I actually want a sauna. They're great. When they work.
Starting point is 01:07:34 Mine worked very steadily and then it stopped working. Yeah. Do you still have your hot tub? I do. Do you have a music made about the hot tub too. Thinking about moving a hot tub under the deck and then doing something with that area where the hot tub is. Because I need a new cover exposed.
Starting point is 01:07:57 Got it. Shotty. Oh, got it. Good to know. Good to know. Because we got the, we got this, so we got a hot tub now. Did you ever have a hot tub? We got a hot tub.
Starting point is 01:08:08 Even skinny dipping? No skinny dipping. No, but. I thought that's what hot tubs. That's what she did. But I've been, I have been dipping here and there. I rather enjoy it. Very relaxing.
Starting point is 01:08:22 Yeah. I'll tell you, and I'm not, I love hot tubs too. It's not minus 40 out. Yeah. And I don't know where yours is. Mine is just far enough away from the door where,
Starting point is 01:08:37 cold, cold, cold, cold. Right? Like, it's touch and go. Yeah, we're pretty quick. Just kind of out the door is kind of right there. So Calgary is a great town for hot tubbing. Great hot tub town. It doesn't get crazy,
Starting point is 01:08:52 laser hot in the summer. The neighbors come over. Oh, yeah. A few drinks. Things get a little out of hand. Awesome city for it. Great city. And the weather's good too.
Starting point is 01:09:05 Yeah. So yeah. I don't know that too. Bet 365. Game props, player props, totals the money line. If you're not, be 19 or older. That's kind of all we ask.
Starting point is 01:09:17 Just be 19. Download the app, get it in the game. We've got a game today. Big game. Yeah, Canada versus Switzerland. And just, you know what? Sometimes you just take a shot. Just take a shot.
Starting point is 01:09:32 Oh? So I'm going to, you don't need to part. I like that. Feels maybe like a 5-2 game. Switzerland's no joke. Canada had 5 yesterday. I think there's room for them to improve. Maybe it feels like a 5-2 game, plus 1,000.
Starting point is 01:09:48 Or just the winning, it would be counterintuitive, I thought, If you pick a 5-2 correct score and then have them winning by two or four, or would it? Well, you're going to win one, that lose one. So we're going to go with the 5-2 and then say, yeah, well, that'd be by three, right? Is that the math? Yeah, that's the margin. And then beyond that, maybe a little safer, just kind of, if there's goals, there's assists. Sometimes there's even two assists on every goal.
Starting point is 01:10:19 Kale McCar, Sidney, Crosby, Carter, McDavid. Bing, Bing, Bing. All three of them, in a part of them. in a parlay if they all get assists, at least one plus 220. I like that one as well. Thank you, Rhett. And I know you're a winner because I heard how you did at the Super Bowl. So knowing that you're on side and on board makes me feel better about my kids.
Starting point is 01:10:38 I'm going to get in on some of this this afternoon. It's easy to do. Get the app. It's the best app going. And they have all kinds of, they got recommendations and different types of builds and stuff in there. So even if you don't, you're not that familiar with how it works. put a dollar to a couple two dollars down
Starting point is 01:10:59 yeah we have do we have one at least I saw a super chat yeah Stephen put in six and nine and nine and uh now I've never done it it's happened before well people
Starting point is 01:11:21 have put donation in but then don't accompany it with a with a message kind of a whoopsie a whoopsie daisy I'll go back up here and see if I and where the heck was it
Starting point is 01:11:34 I wanted to come in Jack did you see if he put a message in yeah I was looking earlier I did not see him again he just got pissed off he's like oh yeah Stephen Slaskowski
Starting point is 01:11:48 well sorry Steve Jack do you have a question for Rhett no I don't have any questions you guys got me thinking hot tubs now though I used to have like one of those inflatable hot tubs one of my buddies worked at Canadian tire and
Starting point is 01:12:06 someone somebody returned one of those things and it ended up at my house on my back deck holy that thing got greasy
Starting point is 01:12:16 oh yeah yeah I think there's as good the technology nowadays is actually very good there's not a whole lot you need to do
Starting point is 01:12:26 to maintain a healthy hot tongue but I do think they're not all that way. No. We do have a super chat. All right. There we go. Breakfast potatoes. Potato potatoes. 699. Cannot wait to see Rhett go through the teenage dog years. I don't know what that means. Ah, just the puppy phase. Puppies can be hard. I'm going through the teenage years and that's enough. I don't need to. Yeah, me too. Dog. Yeah. I don't have a, I don't have dogs in the teenage years.
Starting point is 01:13:02 If anyone has answers or advice, maybe we'll have a therapy, a family therapy session that we could just share and I will listen to all. Because clearly what I do is stupid. It's like our goalie summit. We don't need a goalie summit. We need a parenting summit. Yes. What are you people doing with yours? Because our safe percentage is really struggling in terms of teenagers around.
Starting point is 01:13:30 sanity and continuing to do the same thing is not working at our house. So, yeah. Well, buddy, we got an hour 14 in there. I'm glad we did it. We had some little memory lane. That was good that that's, well, it's both sad and wonderful. Yeah, but it's a little toast for Monty this weekend. Reminder, it is Valentine's Day tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:13:56 Don't sleep on that. Don't forget it. It's probably going to. It's just self-preservation. It'll matter, yeah, for your happiness and success over the next few weeks. No show Monday. It is Family Day weekend. Enjoy your families.
Starting point is 01:14:11 Be safe. Enjoy the games. You have a good one this afternoon. Jack, kick some ass this weekend. What should I do, Rhett? Go do a rough-next game. Get out and about, you love comedy. You love comedy.
Starting point is 01:14:24 There's got to be a good time. Yeah. And if you're bored, you pop over to the house. All right, Dale. When's that roughneck team? Is that tomorrow? Saturday and Sunday. Two, okay.
Starting point is 01:14:36 Those are actually really fun. They're a ton of fun. It's tremendous. It is. I love, there's been a few times where I've taken people who have never been. It's like, oh, yeah, I hear it's like, do they fight and stuff? Well, maybe, but, you know, it's, and then, do they ever turn the music off? Nope.
Starting point is 01:14:53 Why? Is the PA announcer yelling at the guy in the penalty box? Yes, he is. Yeah. He's like, this is crazy. It is. Are all the kids taking their shirts off and whipping them in the air? Yes, they are all of them.
Starting point is 01:15:05 Every kid in the building. Really yelling at the other team, chance? Telling him to sit down and shut up in the penalty box? That's correct. Yeah. Wow. It's really something. Good, good call, rep.
Starting point is 01:15:17 Good call by you. That's what this show's doing. Yep. Raising people's moods, making solutions. I'm going to pop into King Solomon's kitchen, grab some Jamaican food. it and head down to the bontan meats. Get a hot tub, Jack. What a week.
Starting point is 01:15:36 What a week we have coming up. See you, buddies.
