Starting point is 00:00:01 Uh, hey Jack. Yeah. Can you tell your dumb buddies to get off my Instagram? Did you mind? All over you. What's going on? He's got dumb buddies. Boom daddy?
Starting point is 00:00:14 Yeah. What are they saying? Oh, so and so salt wants to fall. Tell him to just tell him to bugger, mind their own business. They've got their own lives, you losers. I'm thinking, are you on it? Like, when we talk about you. your dumb buddies.
Starting point is 00:00:34 I'm not a part of that. Oh yeah. I thought that was. Are you one of the? Twice. It was 100% a dumb buddy. Before we started the show, what did you do this weekend? You were making, we were going to Pittsburgh.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Oh, it was almost a guarantee. We had flights. We had tickets of the game. I wish you to press purchase. So when you say almost a guarantee, walk us through what that means and how hammered you were at the time. What happened the prior five did 10 hours? Well, we all got to.
Starting point is 00:01:02 together to watch the game. We needed to change some luck around. So we, we, we rallied for Pittsburgh, got everyone in Pittsburgh gear, got a good group of boys, went to the bar, and things went well. It was a good game. Pittsburgh played well. Come out with a win. I'd say we're about seven out of ten hammered at the point the game was over. Right. And we're like, you know what? If we're going to go this far, we might as well keep it going. We got to get there. Take it to Steel Town. from I was in bed watching game one to
Starting point is 00:01:35 we're booking flights. This is why before game one we were like you need to have a plan imagine if you had started this series on time. Like I said they needed to get Skinner out of the net so once Dan the man woke up I woke up oh boy when you were because
Starting point is 00:01:52 Saturday afternoon was a lot of sending photos Hey look at us much really if we're getting ready Hey you guys give me shit for not doing enough we get to see it all yeah there you go do you see the good luck term I do see it yeah
Starting point is 00:02:08 it's just you want to grab that voodoo oh we can see it it's on it's in tamer yeah it's there is that a like a Joe boo I don't know what it is I bought it like six years ago on Facebook it's like a the Steelers logo is horrible too it's really nice
Starting point is 00:02:26 on Facebook so you made it actually like you were searching for yeah just Steelers Knicks Which of course ties directly to the penguins. Yeah. It's the whole city. Yeah. Everything.
Starting point is 00:02:40 Yeah. It is. Welcome to the show. It's a presentation of Bet365 hockey fans. It is the three goal early payout. Check out beat. Bet365's app. It's the best app going.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Your team goes up by three. You get paid. It's that simple. Download the app today. You must be 19 or older. Please play responsive. Yes. And the super chat is up and running as we are live here.
Starting point is 00:03:04 on a Monday. You go into the YouTube chat. You put down a comment. A little bit of money. We have the money to the charity. We put your comment on the show. Very easily. Very easy that way. There's a lot of things popping up here. This one. Oh, this one. Quack. This one just says ducks and wizards. Quack. What else we got there? Oh, I shouldn't. Take a menthol man. Come on. He was just scrolling. He was scrolling. He was scrolling. It just happened to pop up. Sorry, guys.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Here in the McLeod Law LLP Studios, macloud-dashlaw.com is the website. Something serious, something run-of-the-mill, just standard practice, business person, what a cloud law. If you've, in a drunken stupor, have booked hotels and flights, a trip that you never will take.
Starting point is 00:03:55 I thought he was driving. They were going to drive for a while. You're going to drive. So the driving part was the best, because he's like, we're driving, we're doing this. And like, you could see. see it's getting later and later and I know you're going to finish your reading something here. He's getting drunker
Starting point is 00:04:08 and drunker. He's probably in need of some legal advice. Yeah, we should have called McLeod Law at that point. And I'm like, hotline. I start looking at like, okay, you're not driving a Tabor here. Like this is a hike. 34 hours. And so if he was going to get to game 5 on time,
Starting point is 00:04:24 he would have to leave at like 7 a.m. on Sunday the day after he's hammered. And I'm like, these idiots won't be up yet. There's zero chance they're driving. I thought I'm good Cloud law They'll take care of you
Starting point is 00:04:40 Yeah Maybe you need to fire an idiot I've employment law too I can't decide if I'm mad at Jack Or I'm pumped for Jack Because he half-assed it He really did Faked it
Starting point is 00:04:51 He allowed it to linger And turn to crap And then he rally He did the right thing finally But it's too late It's too late He could still win his thing four in a row. What did he say?
Starting point is 00:05:07 I picked four. Technically not, but. Well, that's the first team to win four games. Yeah. No one's at four yet, to be fair. But he picked them to go four and oh. They might go four and a row. Once Dan the man woke up, they were going to go. Thank God he woke up.
Starting point is 00:05:22 I wonder if he's a sick in bed like you. Sick. Maybe that was part of the issue. Stewart Skinner wasn't bad. He's just cursed. He can't be true. So he had to break the curse with Joe Boo's. Steelers hat or whatever. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Oh, brilliant. Something like that. Anything else exciting to happen? No. No. Nothing else going on. Nothing else quite. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Just a Mega Max hangover for Jack and penguins aren't done yet. People do, you know what? People are fond of you. People that listen to the show, I feel like they want good things for you. They saw the whole Steelers thing. I think some people do. They know that, you know, your book reading isn't going well. It's getting better.
Starting point is 00:06:04 that sort of thing. I forgot my book here this weekend, but would you say they want good things for him or they're worried about? I think they want him to be their dumb buddy too. Like they're like, oh, the jackometer's got to be like up to eight now. Like people are,
Starting point is 00:06:20 he's like their dumb buddy. Not just his dumb buddies buddy. It's kind of dawned on me that yeah, it's you, you have dumb buddies, but it's, you are really a collection of like minded people. but I find my
Starting point is 00:06:36 I don't know I I find the flyers to be very fun to watch I find them very entertaining more so than the penguins but I do feel like I would like the penguins I wanted a series of it I just don't know how you do it now yeah they won but Vladar made a boo-boo and that kind of was the
Starting point is 00:06:54 difference one goal penguins I thought played better but I don't I mean I hate to rain on Jack's braid and God knows he wants to drive down to game seven, but. Jeez. So right now, if you were to do it, it would have to be a fly and drive. Do you want to, can you fly partway and then rent a car or something?
Starting point is 00:07:14 You can fly to Toronto and drive. It's only about five hours from there. I think he was looking at flights through Chicago. Yeah, the cheapest was to Chicago yesterday. But then we're like, yeah, we kind of want a car. Because if they win, we got to drive to Philly. Oh, you're doing, I like that. If they win.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I don't know. I would talk to McLeod law about this, get some insurance. I don't know if they sell insurance, but just make sure they're in your back pocket because you're idiots and you in Philly. Absolutely. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Somebody. You think Edmonton fights? Those Philly boys will put you in the bay and some sink you. Yeah, as they say, stuff you in a locker. Because no, yeah. You need security detail. Sure.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Yeah. It's a muscle with you. How was everyone's weekend? well it was good to finish I got up I got up and went to to a pub to watch the Sabres because I thought it was going to be yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:08:12 and after about six minutes I'm like wow the shots were 172 and it was 4 nothing early in the first early yeah and it was like well I was excited for this game but I just I just had a window open up because this thing is all ver yeah it was unbelievable
Starting point is 00:08:29 to watch almost that one's that one's in. Oh my God. It's in again. Oh, boy. What do they end up getting four in about a four minutes, five minutes span. It was, they pumped him. It was, yeah, it was an absolute beatdown in a must win in Boston. It feels weird. And then the sway dog bitches out the bench. I do have the video. He's heated as he leaves. And I don't know if he's yelling at the coach or his teammates or what, but it was six nothing at that point. stealing someone else's I didn't notice that he was
Starting point is 00:09:06 but he was bitching at players in Buffalo and he doesn't seem like like over the last few years he's been a hothead but clearly in this series he's feeling it who are you yelling at? Stop the puck, I guess,
Starting point is 00:09:21 but it's like shit. I understand what your take on it is but that to me screams of uh-oh not just because of that there was instances in in Buffalo where he was bitching. He called the time out. That's right.
Starting point is 00:09:40 That's weird, right? Like there's a lack of trust somewhere and there's dissension. I'm like, yeah, if that's at Sturham, when you start to add all this up, game four must win and you, your team,
Starting point is 00:09:56 would you say they showed up? That it was a complete four, it was four nothing. Yeah, no, I mean, they didn't, four nothing.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Yeah, they didn't, no. there was no yeah Zedorov broke us well that's chinty BS they were not playing hockey yeah they did not show up
Starting point is 00:10:12 in their own building in a playoff game it's as it's as flat as you could be it's eye roll remember how it was when they were heading to Boston it's it's one one coming back they should have out of miraculous eight minutes from Buffalo you're home two oh you're the underdog that's outplayed the other team the Sabres maybe have 12 minutes of good hockey they've hardly let
Starting point is 00:10:31 it all in the series home core take care of business, you're in good shape here. And instead, I don't know if Boston's been bad or if Buffalo's hit stride, but the walls are coming in quick. It's both. Yeah. I think it's both probably. Yeah, like Buffalo had a lot more to give. We knew that.
Starting point is 00:10:47 They were underwhelming at home for sure. But we also thought like that Boston's probably better than we get him credit for. Yeah, Boston's 100 points out on. Sat on some leads and looked good doing it. I don't know. It's just, to me, it reveals something else is going on in that Boston room. or because of, because of the, you blow the lead in game one. And even that, it's fine.
Starting point is 00:11:09 But the fact that Swamen's called the time out in game two and eyeballing and. Yeah, I mean, for that, I'm with you that I can understand why he'd be frustrated. A, you're, you're going to lose this game and go down deep in the series. Two, you're at how does this happen? So you're pissed off guys, because if you did watch, yeah, they're getting completely blown out of the water. And I agree. I think if he he called the time out because he couldn't believe that the coach didn't call time out the game before. Right.
Starting point is 00:11:42 So for sure, it's, hey, Marco Sturm, you don't know what you're doing? You guys, what the fuck are we doing here? So it's multiple levels of frustration. So I don't. It's quick, right? Three days is the difference between feeling like you're, you got, you're the driver sitting in a series and being dead in the water. And obviously you don't get to this level unless you're, you know, most of these guys are in incredibly competitive and maybe this is just competing and being frustrated in the game,
Starting point is 00:12:06 you're getting pulled or maybe there's more. Like when Pat Roy blows his top, everyone's, that's just patch qual, whatever. We'll see. Yeah. I never saw Pat call time on,
Starting point is 00:12:16 but maybe. I haven't seen called time out. I saw him you like the owner who left you're all and asked for a trade. Maybe that's what's happening here. They were showing Pat Roy dipsy noodle greets. So he. Dipsy doodle. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Yeah. Yeah. It's hard not to feel like that one's over, but that's what these playoffs are about. As soon as you think you know, it can very easily go the other way. But I'll say I feel fairly confident and comfortable in my Sabres to win the series pick at this point. They're looking like the Sabres now. That's the team we've seen since they came through Calgary or the December.
Starting point is 00:12:50 I was surprised we didn't. There was no chatter in the group chat about that game. Yeah. Just ended too quick. That's why I was like, it was just over before it started almost. Like it was you're settling in and all of a sudden it's 4-0. you're like, well, what do we get do for the next two-half periods?
Starting point is 00:13:08 I think that game was over before I woke up. Yeah, you were going to drive to Pittsburgh. I could sleep until five. Was it a noon game? I think it was a noon start. Mountain time. That would be 12p on the graphic. P.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Here it is. I'm sending Jack the Pat Roy Deke. Anyway, stupid D. about but the we said it i think the sabres are fine in there because i was what clearly buffalo fan watched the first two games and i'm like ooh this does not i said it what day it must been friday what are they like yeah after watching them for two games it's like well you're not defensive you're goaltending yeah and now i'm like oh they took over that one and we talked about it. It was a team that hadn't been in this
Starting point is 00:14:03 environment outside of what, like, Tuck and one other guy, like in terms of a cloud. Yeah, McLeod. So it's a pretty green group. Maybe you feel better about them if they have a little adversity in round one. It's like, okay, now they get what playoff hockey is, because clearly Lindy Ruff's seen enough of it.
Starting point is 00:14:19 He knows what it's about, but they have to be in it to understand it. And the confidence level in the Sabres is clearly skyrocketing. They seem to get what's going on. And you were talking about the Sabers fans booing them in Buffalo. How do you feel if you're a Bruin fan, your team comes home for games three and four. It's got the split.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Could it be up to nothing? Got the split, but have looked pretty good for the majority. They then get outscored 9-2. The Sabres social media team had a montage of faces around the rink amongst Bruins fans. It was quite something. There was like crying, head and hands, M-Fing the team, people leaving their seats. Brady in Boston. This turned quick.
Starting point is 00:15:03 I think he was doing draft stuff for Vegas. Brady was made. No, not tall. Brady, Brady, Kachuk, who was crying. I thought he was maybe. He's,
Starting point is 00:15:13 he didn't do his exit meetings because apparently he's so welcoming a child to the world. They're with child. So congrats to the to the Kachucks. There's a lot there as well. A lot to unpack with Ottawa. I actually watch that game.
Starting point is 00:15:29 I'm not, so much hockey can watch. guys. You're a busy. I'm a family guy. I'm a husband. Entrepreneur. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:35 I'm out there doing stuff in the community, helping out, giving back. But I did watch this game. And as it continued to go, it got more and more violent. It was a tremendous hockey game. The goaltending was off the charts on both sides. Frederick Anderson looked unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Allmark did everything he could have done. It's a great series for Elmark. It was unbelievable. To think that this series going in, Ottawa's, there's five, if they could just get some saves and then it completely flips. They get all the saves they needed,
Starting point is 00:16:05 but could not find a way to score. And that's how this one went down. They did not lead the entire series. And now we're, getting to be hard. Now we're Keynes fans. Now Rod the Bodd's our guy and they're all in. Oh, you're not warming up?
Starting point is 00:16:25 No. I'm taking. Well, I know that's right. They're, you know what, they are. there's social media they're a bunch of bullies a bunch of jerks that was what they used to be called remember the bunch of jerks picking on me picking on us I'm in I'm good I like that I didn't think they could play that
Starting point is 00:16:42 violently now I can support them it looked like a team that plays the right way for playoff hockey and Freddie Anderson just went nuclear he's he's leading the universe of all gold-tending stats he had been the best two goalies in the playoffs I went back I had to show me you need to see what happened here in the second like Taylor Hall gets smashed and Brady does it's World War II for a while there it was one of the hardest hits you'll ever see in your life
Starting point is 00:17:07 from Cleven Tyler Cleven right it's noodles has been pimping for 15 minutes on the show um and then maybe a suspendable offense there could have been a few things maybe suspendable in that there is one coming but um I texted noodles actually
Starting point is 00:17:25 because it was on whatever was when they Wednesday show and you're like noodles you need to tell them accidentally on purpose you got to get in on this goaltender and he said well you know ridley gregg might be the guy to do it and then sure as shit in the second period it's like there's ridley gregg whoopsie daisy running right into anderson uh it did not uh that looked on purpose on purpose not accidentally on purpose didn't have the desired effect i'll try it in the end got to work at it but down through o desperate times desperate measures yeah really gregg gonna
Starting point is 00:17:54 it's a phone hearing to be determined a phone hearing at some point and they'll carry it into next year because they're done. Yeah, which so those maximum five game suspension, but potentially a suspension. So he is on the right. Right there, a little, was that accidental? That's gutless is what it is. It's pretty. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:14 So I said this to my kids with the hit and this punch. Part of old man talking. The guy that got drilled, the hit. The kitchen. Yeah. Well, guys don't hit like the. anymore. No one's expecting it.
Starting point is 00:18:31 So you don't think it's coming. And all of a sudden it happens, you're like, holy shit. Contact sport. Wow. Yeah. Ridley, Greg is not worried about repercussions. As far, right?
Starting point is 00:18:44 Like, who's going to get me? Now, it's game four, so maybe you think summer's off, but he's, there's no eye for an eye type of thing. And steam's coming out of Nick Delore's ears on the bench. Everyone is going down. Greg did take a, he got crumpled from behind by Walker later in the game.
Starting point is 00:19:02 But still, that's, it's, you don't have to end. You're going to get suspended, but you're not really, and maybe he will. Maybe it couldn't happen in that game. I feel he has to get something. Oh, he'll get a suspension. Oh, yeah. Like that's pretty, that's a hard no-no. You could call the cops and say, hey, what?
Starting point is 00:19:19 Yeah. Really great needs to call him a law. You do that outside of the jacket is dumb buddies on 17th Saturday night. Just behave. The clink and the slam a. the slamma. They wouldn't need McLeod law. And I do love fans at this time of year are the best and the worst reading some of the, oh yeah, but I mean, he had his glove on.
Starting point is 00:19:39 Smudel's take on the oil or brethren. This happens everywhere. It's really normal to hit him in the kind of hit him in the ribs. Oh, you guys got shoulder pads. You got protection for the, uh, soccer. Soccer punch. That's soccer punch. With somebody else about as blatant as possible. When somebody else is holding the other person's arms, um, Um, it's a bit of a suck.
Starting point is 00:20:01 It's a bit of a sucks. You see it? You see how he is unable to defend himself? Yeah. That's when you don't. No idea. Yeah. He's already tied up with someone else.
Starting point is 00:20:10 But yeah, Sends are done. Our Sends picks did not come through. Who had the canes? Jack? Jack had the canes. I was wavering. God damn.
Starting point is 00:20:19 They didn't have to poke fun at us. Just bill for playoff hockey. Yeah. I thought I'd put up a way better fight. I really did. I think I kind of said going in, I feel like Sissens. but much like Tampa Bay, veteran team, been here before,
Starting point is 00:20:34 maybe you get to the end of the series, like, okay, well, this is, you may not win four series, but you're too good to not win one. And credits are, they did, they played great. We took some cheeky shots at Carolina, and I will not watch them next year during the regular season, and they'll do the same thing again. But I didn't think they'd be that entertaining and that hard hitting,
Starting point is 00:20:58 in that much fight and I can actually go, actually that was pretty damn good hockey to watch. I can get behind these guys. No? You're not sold on it? Well, they've been playing this way for a while. I know, but we don't pay attention to it. They played pretty hard.
Starting point is 00:21:15 If you want to talk about a team that plays the right way to win in the playoffs, it's this one. And we did watch them just get goaltending for four games, which isn't always a case, but they protect their goalies better than any other team in the league. Nobody else shops exclusively in the discount bin for goalies. and continues to win first round series seemingly every year. They're good.
Starting point is 00:21:33 Freddie Anderson, though, has been, when he is on his game, he's healthy is great. He's phenomenal, right? Like, he is that good. Like, he's just, it's weird. He's actually kind of putting the kind of career together where at the end of it,
Starting point is 00:21:45 you might be like, you look at some of those Rogi Vashon type guys that got in the hall. You're like, I don't know that his career is going to be much worse than that. I don't think he's a great, but it's a, you start looking at Anaheim to Toronto to here. you're like, there's some pretty good numbers across the board when he's healthy. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I don't know that it's Hall of Fame stuff.
Starting point is 00:22:03 So he's been, you forget, you forget how good he is. Yes. Because he's not in the crease long enough. Yeah, he never, yeah, 74, like Kipper, not a 70, no, not going to happen ever. So they made the playoffs every year since 1819 and they've won the first round every single year. Who do, who do they play next round that you don't take them against? Well, it's in the city. Philly or Pittsburgh. And I think Philly, Philly, versus them is going to be.
Starting point is 00:22:28 That is a hell of a serious. You know, down physical, who's going to get to two, like both of those teams. You know how Rick Tocky wants to play. That's a Rod Brinimore wants to play that. But that's going to be hard nose again. That's a series where it's like,
Starting point is 00:22:40 okay, well, now I actually, I kind of, like I said, cheeky. I might have to watch that series. I don't know how I, how am I going to pick? You're in trouble.
Starting point is 00:22:50 They're picking on you. They're picking on me. Maybe you should apologize and flip the script. I watch this incredible series. at least this great game four. How about those canes? Pretty impressed. And then my phone starts blowing up. Hey, Bob, check this.
Starting point is 00:23:04 What? What? This is from the Carolina Hurricanes official social media account. This is their social media. The H is going on. Senators and six. Oh. I'm a homeless
Starting point is 00:23:33 I think Otto wins this series Look at this dude Otto is winning their first round Are you sure about that? So I don't know why David Schwimmer is in there Is he? He's a lot of me
Starting point is 00:24:03 He lives in kids So I'm on par with me and Witt. Me and Witt are in there. You weren't as strong. It's okay. But they adjust the glasses. That's good. And then if you listen to it, they actually have some diarrhea sound effects in there near the end.
Starting point is 00:24:26 Some liquid poo. That's got to be your new habitat. The last time when we got ripped for being, you know, fat dip shits. That was a fan. I was like Cain's talk. That was some other. Oh, yeah, they're in on it. This is the team.
Starting point is 00:24:42 That must have been a team burner the last one, eh? They've been on us for a while. Jack, we need you to go back because Dean has absolutely glorified. Rod the Bond. And we've got to find some clips and send it down there so that he can clear the air. I love Rod the Bond. We just wanted Rod the Bond to get market value.
Starting point is 00:24:59 What's the problem here? Rod to make what he should make. He's a great coach. I cheered very hard for you in 2006. God, we loved you. You had commie. I was at Cam Ward's Cup party. We were so proud of them.
Starting point is 00:25:11 We love Mike Commodore. Huge fan. God, we love that team. Justin Williams. hurtful. One mistake. Kind of blame the sins. You make one mistake and they're all over you.
Starting point is 00:25:26 I know. Sons of bitches. Capital Shave. I thought we were going to circle that back for the diarrhea sound effects. Jack, okay, fine. You do you. Now we move on. Capital Chef.Cob.C.A. 13103 Lake Fraser Drive in the Southeast.
Starting point is 00:25:45 It's Calgary's truck destination. Maybe you need a vehicle to drive to Pittsburgh. Lots of real nice drive. That's the way to do it. Maybe you've heard about the $99 lease. It's a real thing, a new inventory, big competitive pricing, a team that knows how to keep it simple. Maybe it's the winter roads. Maybe it's the summer road trips.
Starting point is 00:26:05 You walk in curiously, you leave confident, trucks, deals, and a no-nonsense, just the way Calgary likes it. Capitalshab.com.CHA, the website, 13103 Lake Fraser driving the southeast Capitol Sheb. I saw on their Instagram. They were doing the old spit and polish, getting there already. Oh, really? Congrats to a new Corvette owner. Dean. A lucky new owner. Dino, proud of you. How many of that when you pick it up. Boom Daddy Summer. No, that was, I was not the lucky owner, but someone is. Well, there's still time. Leaving with a beautiful new I think I'll pick you up later and I'll drop you off and you
Starting point is 00:26:40 will have no choice but purchase a vehicle and drive it home. Great. Because you won't be walking. I could have used a new truck on Friday night. Oh, what's going on? Well, I was in Innesville my kid faked an injury. So now I'm driving home because he can't play lacrosse.
Starting point is 00:26:59 He's a bad quad. Anyway, F and white out on the old high away. Yeah. It was No, Buenos should not have been driving on that road. But fellas, we might be out. I'm just looking at the weather. Today, high of seven.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Tuesday, 12. Wednesday, 14. Thursday, Friday, 18. Wake, climbing up, yeah. Are we through it? And we're going to get a big rain, I think, on Friday. Everything will green up. That's all we need. Get all the dust off the roads.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Get the street sweepers going on overdrive and we're there, baby. We're rid of some of these dusters. Sorry. I know people are waiting for us. No, no, no, no. They do not even. You're waiting for us. But we have, you know, you get man crushes or whatever.
Starting point is 00:27:46 We were talking last week about Brandon Hagel, Saskatooner, plays in red deer, drafted by Buffalo. So you see the one drafted by Buffalo and then didn't go? Yeah. Sixth round of Buffalo. He's unsigned out of the draft. Chicago signs him as a free agent, I believe. I don't think he re-entered the draft. crazy crazy crazy he's been a bloody rock star tampa looks and says this you know what this guy this
Starting point is 00:28:10 we think this is the kind of dog that uh don't trade dogstein we're gonna give uh we're gonna give up a lot people are going to question what the hell we're doing first rounders just giving them away but we think that this guy's something special and uh they were right he is not not to get back in it last week he's not overly big he's like six two but he's He's not, yeah, he's not a He's a normal sized Anders, he's running around, you're like, that's a big man. That's a big dude.
Starting point is 00:28:40 This guy, yeah, he's not physically imposing, but he will take the body and he will drop. He plays the right way, Dean. He's dope. You know what you'd like, and I don't want to change the subject, but a Brandon Hagel type of performance from your top guys in Toronto? Oh, boy. Wouldn't that change the outlook?
Starting point is 00:28:57 Dubas should still be there. Yeah. Right? Like, yeah. The Shanna plan would be a huge. How come we don't have one of those guys Toronto fans or go? How about that guy? And he was available. They
Starting point is 00:29:07 traded to get him. He was available for trade if we wanted to go and get. I am not cheering for Tampa Bay, but F me, that's a performance. Yesterday in Montreal, the Habs come out. They take a two nothing lead. Squander. Now, it's not great coverage there as Hegel's kind of,
Starting point is 00:29:27 but it happens so fast, and it's Kuturov, and then this is kind of just a, off his something. Off his something. I'm going to get to the a place where this can go in. Oh yeah, go to the hard areas. You know what?
Starting point is 00:29:42 Can I also just say that these defensemen these days are so useless. So effing useless. Like what's he? That is Hegel's sixth goal of the series. At that point, he had passed the rest of the lightning combined in goals.
Starting point is 00:29:58 It was their 11th goal of the postseason. He had six. Yeah. Kutrov, hell of a player, point, all you hear is Hagle. Yeah. All I hear when I watch his games, I hear Hagle. Yep. Hitting, fighting, penalties. And in fairness, it's Kuturov with the primary assists.
Starting point is 00:30:19 This, the second goal there, like it's, it can't be by design. But watch how quick Kuturov just fires this thing. Because he knows his boy's going to be crazy. I'm just, I'm just, throwing it at the net. I'm just throwing it. Skip it quick before I get some position. Montreal was quite good, but
Starting point is 00:30:36 Tampa Bay you could see early. It's down, they're down to nothing. We're digging in. But this feels like one of those games where at the end if they pull it off, it's going to be because of that steely vet. So that's, I believe, the power play with what, six to eight minutes left?
Starting point is 00:30:52 And then Montreal gets a power play very late. They don't score and there's your difference. Slim margins. Again, not to change. subject. These refs are horse shit. Too many fricking penalties. My God. You can say your watch to it. I mean, he really is consistently.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Ruffs are idiots. Well, there are some calls. It's like, let it go, guys. Just let them play. It's rough. Yes, it's this. Yes, it's that. I was in the truck. So I was listening to the radio for part of the first. It was Tampa's guy.
Starting point is 00:31:28 That's how he was losing. Michigan, Dave Michigan. It's a bit biased. And Espacito's like, oh, what are you talking? Or Esposito wasn't talking. He must have been. Oh, really? Maybe he was pulling Jack.
Starting point is 00:31:40 He is. Oh, yes. Dear. Oh, yeah. Espo is still. Yes. And he's still like right over top of the. Oh, you come on.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Oh, Jay's down. Yeah, when he decides to ship in, usually he doesn't say anything. Just there. Imagine working with somebody that's just constantly interrupting you and talking over you? It'd be impossible. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:32:02 can do it really take away from form it's so frustrating four games three of them go to overtime all of them won goals one goal games we're tied to two it's lived up frustration in both coaches faces when you saw like they were right points in the game last night where where cooper's like what holy yeah ask what is going on and then st louis and the third's like i want to lose my marbles but i Karen, come on, fellows. I think it was Jake Evans. They got called for that penalty on Couture. He gives him the bump five feet off the wall and he goes flying in. Puck's not there. And it's like, look, you can argue that that's not a call.
Starting point is 00:32:41 But with that time of the game, with that score, you can't allow the ref to have the opportunity to make that call. And he just had his stick up in someone else's neck region and got away with it. It's like, you got to dial that back. That was the thing, though, when the refs really start getting in. So you've called this, but then you let that go. So then you got to call. They're making up. It becomes such a mess.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Because even whoever was doing the broadcast, it was what Simpson and Cuthbert, they were like, oh, this play here is clearly a trip, but it didn't go. So then, well, I guess we're going to have to call this one. It is. And they're mad about that. So yeah, when both coaches are sour at the end of it. But it's been great. That's good hockey.
Starting point is 00:33:20 Dobish has given the halves solid goal tending. I thought we'd see more than one of their goalies in the series. Might still. Yeah, still could, but not yet. I think with three to go, it'd be real hard. He'd have to. I mean, I'd see him in a relief, but I don't think you could see anyone else.
Starting point is 00:33:36 And it's just funny because the beginning of the year, you would have said, well, Montembo's probably going to be the guy. And then it's like, oh, no, it's definitely Dovish. And then Fowler took over for a while. Well, Montembourg should have been the guy. He screwed it up for him. So he's another three. See you.
Starting point is 00:33:48 See you. Coming to an Emmington to near you. Coming where? I think Evanton's looking for goalie. What do you mean? Vena Nova. Just going to put it off. So good.
Starting point is 00:34:02 The Danaoma.com. It's the 27th of April. So this is the last week of April, which means May is around the corner. I think by the weekend, it'll be May. And by Sunday, May 10th, it will be Mother's Day.
Starting point is 00:34:16 If you want to jot that down, everyone, Sunday, May 10th, Viena Nova.com. Calgary's lab-grown diamond specialists. The Viener Nova Showroom has the largest selection of lab-grown diamonds in Canada. We've talked a lot about, you know, hot Jack summer or Jack summer, whatever. If you want to start, I'd like to have a great summer as well.
Starting point is 00:34:40 And you got, you know, maybe your wife, you have kids. You come home with Vinova diamonds for Mother's Day to start May. You might just clear the path. Clear the track, Eddie Shack for the entire. Hey, babe, I'm thinking I'm going to golf. Hey, go watch some baseball. We're going to drive to Pittsburgh, watch some hockey. God, you look good with those earrings, babe.
Starting point is 00:35:01 Sure, okay. You know what? You go have some. You could really set yourself up for a heck of a summer. I agree with that. Earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets. The lab grown diamond, you see. It's made in the lab.
Starting point is 00:35:14 That's right. Lab grown in the... So you're not digging it out of the dirt. Hard right now. That mud. Wash it off. Gross. 50 to 70%.
Starting point is 00:35:24 That's what you're going to save on Labgrown over Earthmind. And because the technology is so good, a lot of times, their better quality. They're perfect is what they are, is they come out of a lab. The technology is becoming more efficient, making it more affordable for you. I don't know why anybody would,
Starting point is 00:35:42 we're going to look something. Remember we used to buy, they dig it out of the ground? What were we thinking? I don't know. The technology wasn't there yet. Remember when you had like pen pals? You had to like literally have a piece of paper
Starting point is 00:35:51 go around the world. Now you can just send an email. It feels like one of those. That's kind of around. The showroom, market mall, the website, Venanova.com, the timing important.
Starting point is 00:36:02 My 10th. Look, my math is saying like 11 days, 12 days, let's get her going here. Less than two weeks. I tried to do it quickly.
Starting point is 00:36:13 Math sells me, it's a, three, carry the one. That's right. You've missed your two weeks notice. You're in the window. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:36:21 you're under. That's a good way to put it. I think it's a good way to put it. Two games tonight. Is that what we're kind of looking at? I see two. Two, one in Pittsburgh, one in Utah. Utah's lagging behind these other series.
Starting point is 00:36:32 Oh, yeah, you're not getting to Pittsburgh. Because that games tonight. Dude, he had to leave at like dawn yesterday, and he was hammered at one night's stance. What Jack has figured out, he went to a soothsayer, and they told him that there would definitely be a game seven, so he's planning for it. I think he should go to game seven.
Starting point is 00:36:49 That's a great idea. We'll cover your shift. Go. Thanks. Did you actually reach out to someone, a relief producer to cover your? I didn't make it that far. I was going to bring my, I would have brought my bag and figured it out.
Starting point is 00:37:01 He's like, I'll do the show while we're driving. Like, you're an idiot. Can I just say this? If you ever disappear and go on a road trip, don't take your bag and figure it out. We don't want you. We'll either take the day off or find someone better. You with your bag in Pittsburgh hung over. That's going to go.
Starting point is 00:37:21 So I lost my bag at the bar after the lost? Can you imagine where they would stay? Oh, in their car. because that's flea bag motel at best. The bed bug in. This is better for you. It may not feel. Oh, Jack.
Starting point is 00:37:40 Go. What a story you'd build. I think if they have a game seven, it's lining up to be Friday or Saturday, Jack. Let me just check that real quick. He's really push. Well, I just like, look, you're happy for him. We wanted to go to game one in Buffalo.
Starting point is 00:37:54 Boom, told him not to. I'd be Saturday. Saturday. Like, are we kidding me? How good is that? I wouldn't book the flight yet. Yeah, the more immediate question is they need to win tonight. They're down three games to one.
Starting point is 00:38:09 Oh, that's the easy stuff. Jack's turned around the curse. It is in Pittsburgh. She-Lovs will start for sure. What are your plans and what do you expect this evening? Well, I bet he whips out. What do you mean? Because we saw, I've got my jersey on already.
Starting point is 00:38:26 I'm ready to go. Where's the Jack Cam? We've got to be showing us. We're already. I've got the Iggy Penn's jersey. I've been taking it off. Iggy. Tonight's going to come down to whether or not
Starting point is 00:38:37 they wear the stupid yellow jersey. They're going to wear those Nashville idiot. At the start of the playoffs, each team had to designate their home and road unies and they couldn't stray from. Amateur. People are saying you can get a fine and switch. Yeah, do it. You don't sure, yeah, you could.
Starting point is 00:38:53 They have to. Not sure that's on. They've lost in those twice at home. Dubuses. I don't know who the owner is right now, but. Come on. We can't be wearing those. Okay, once they make the jerseys switch, that's all that needs.
Starting point is 00:39:06 Yeah, that's what the series comes down to. Oh, my God. Because they already got Kurt Skinner out, right? That's why people tune in, this kind of it. Jersey's, aesthetics. I will say this. I don't know, because I'm just looking on the front page of NHL.com. It's a picture of she lobs in the black.
Starting point is 00:39:24 I don't, why would you go away? No, it is a poor decision. Poor, poor decision. Really dumb. those are significantly better than the yellow. Can't believe it might cost on the series. They won four cups and they're rolling out with some expansion jerseys in the playoffs from like one of Cid's last runs. Get out of here.
Starting point is 00:39:44 So what is it just the natural course of a series where penguins are too good to be swept? What happened on Saturday that was different from the first three? They was getting skinner the hell out of the net. It's very simplistic. It's not that difficult. It's just, he's the 50, not the 150. you're saying Dan is an idiot or smart because you're saying it's not
Starting point is 00:40:05 difficult so was Dan the man he was smart but he was also an idiot because he should have done it the game prior you should have done the game again it's easy to say afterwards but I think we were texting that night you could just kind of tell when the goalie is I just don't think he's
Starting point is 00:40:22 he's not seeing it the puck went in and he didn't know how it went in I think it was the second goal yeah it was a second goal in game three, just get him out. Do it now because he's not going to, based on his career path, suddenly find it here
Starting point is 00:40:39 over the last 40 minutes. It was looking ingramy, like he just was fighting to the bed. I agree. And there's just something about him that you can't, I don't trust it. It's just like we're destined to lose when he starts. Sorry, Skinner, but it's the way it is.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Tussie loss was good. He moves around a lot better too. I thought the penguins moved to the puck better, Gene. Okay, thank you. Thank you, right? I did. Aside from the jerseys, which is clear and normal analysis. I thought that Pittsburgh got back to the D-Zone faster and moved bucks,
Starting point is 00:41:10 and the Flyers forecheck wasn't able to get in as well as it had. Did you see a flyers easing up of it in a sense? I think that there is some of that for sure, naturally, but so. I'd say it's human nature. They almost killed me when I said that before. You remember that? That's idiot. Human nature.
Starting point is 00:41:28 These are pro athletes on human nature. Also, Crosby was amazing. Was he? Okay. Yeah, that pass he made, kicking it over to La Tang and the first goal to snipe. That's a Crosby we've all been waiting to see this series. Well. So do you have a plan or are you kind of winging it?
Starting point is 00:41:49 I'm going to wear your jersey. You see what it took to win on Saturday. It took a lot to get guys together and dress them and get some Joe Boo karma and go out to a bar. I lived with losers, like idiot buddies. When we went to the final here, it nearly cost them their lives. This is the type of commitment you have to make. What did we play? We almost went max every series.
Starting point is 00:42:16 Seven, six, six. So what's that, quick man? It was 24, I believe. Okay, anyway. 26. 26 nights in the next two months, not even. Six weeks. You're going to have to commit to this.
Starting point is 00:42:31 and give her. I didn't have loser. My buddies are idiots. They didn't half ass it. No excuses, Jack. They went full throttle. What place is open until two on a Monday? They made t-shirts. Coming back from an 0-3 hole, there'd be nothing sweeter. Oh, my God, against your state rival? Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Imagine going into Philly, game six. That's Jack at game seven with a chance to seal the four-game rehearsed me. Yeah, that kid given Sid the Yeah, given them the, there's only so much I can do from here. I can get my dumb buddies. That is the adage.
Starting point is 00:43:09 That's why Red said you got to book the flights. Don't just look at them. This is the 30 whole. All you're telling us is how much you, this is, we're doing it. Going to pit. What kind of an impact you yourself had.
Starting point is 00:43:21 And now you're telling me that, uh, there's not so. So rest of the flyers. I don't know what our bet 365 bets are for today. But I think, you do what you need to do because I have built the flyers. or whatever.
Starting point is 00:43:35 You're not committed. Any other series going on? There's two games tonight. You already talked. Oh, yeah, there's two games tonight. Vegas Utah is they're slow. They haven't played since Friday. Yeah, it's way off.
Starting point is 00:43:46 You wouldn't want to play on the weekend. Two series done, and they haven't even played four yet. What's the H? Not going to be a sweep here, but this big game tonight. What is going on in Salt Lake if they couldn't have? Are the jazz playing? I don't know where the Yazs are out. I'm not.
Starting point is 00:44:01 Maybe it's the playoffs. We're big hoops guys. Yeah. I'll check. Dimer. Dimes and Dumpson Dibb. Tacon and diamond. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Dachan and diamond. Vegas very much outshot the mammoth on Friday. Carter Hart. Eight saves. That doesn't sound like a lot. Do you play the whole game? I'll get the actual. data here for you.
Starting point is 00:44:34 But it was kind of, it was a four two final. And, uh, shots on goal 32 to 12. Oh, for the Vegas golden nights. Okay. Carol Vemalka. He was all right. Kamil Venti Mocha. And, uh, I mean, you allow four on 12.
Starting point is 00:44:53 Maybe they're all. I, it is confusing. You, you probably have to be in a pretty desperate spot when it's like, Carter Hart's our guy, given how. little he's played the last two years and how mediocre he looked in the games you've seen in the last two years he played the because he was injured came back i believe he had played the last six games or his last six games of the season so we got in six before the playoffs hit and he won all six that was the torts run they had some soft opponents but they won them so i don't know
Starting point is 00:45:23 but again they outshot them handily the torts said afterwards you don't you don't like the result but i like the most of what we did yeah and that's that's that's if you want a long series, that's a good sign. Crowd was nuts, but the 12 shots, Jesus. McKenzie Weger scores the first goal in Mammoth home.
Starting point is 00:45:43 Yeah, you know, first time. The playoff goal. His shot went right off the mind of Carter Hart. Ouch. Bang. And found its way in. Boy, McKenzie. I haven't watched a lot of this one.
Starting point is 00:45:56 I've not. There's only been three. There's already in three games. And I'll watch tonight. The first one was pretty good. It's not been a lot of them. Yeah, there just haven't been many. So it's not on us. You said it was good, the first one.
Starting point is 00:46:08 It was really good. It was really physical. There's a ton of scrums. Damn, Nicked out. That Nick down. Utah had a lead late, and then Vegas started bullying him. And maybe Utah was like, look, we don't win the series in the alley. We are.
Starting point is 00:46:19 Play some hockey boys. Steed and our skill. Torts got it in him to rectify this situation, or is he screwed because of his goalton? Because of Hart's not going to be good. I think if you outchute your opponent's supposed to 30-12, you're going to be okay tonight. But Utah is obviously going to make some adjustments on that front. Wild and stars. Tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:46:42 Been a humdinger, this one. Humdinger. Boldie. Yeah, Matt Boldie's a stud. Pick them up. It screamed seven since about January when we knew this was going to happen, and it's still screaming seven at us. Poor bass.
Starting point is 00:46:56 And Colorado did what they had to do. It doesn't need to be pretty. You just need to win and rest up and watch these two kill each other. Jammies go at each other for a few more here. We'll be, uh, you know what? We're going to stay at, uh, Santa Monica here for. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:11 Let's just join the hang out. That's some hyperbaric chambers here. Yeah. Some red pseudoscience going, watch the games. What you got to be on a mile high on Wednesday. Yeah. I don't think even the Kings felt like they had a chance here. You know, no one picked them.
Starting point is 00:47:28 Hey, guys. If they got it right where they everybody's picking the obvious. so are we. What? Yeah, I was on Bet365. Is that allowed? It's like that guy that's took Maduro out of Venezuela. He put some money. Can't be doing that.
Starting point is 00:47:45 Maybe if they stole that game, too, they played pretty well in that game. They'll lead late. Colorado tied it and then won it. It didn't feel like it was really, no. Look, LA. Seriously, you can sleep on, Jack. That is one where they're like, we need to keep this low event to do it.
Starting point is 00:48:01 And we kept saying, eventually the dam's going to burst. Colorado only scored two goals against one and two, and then it's like, bong, bong, see, yeah. I think they score 11 in the next two games. Yeah, 5-1 yesterday as the odds sweep it. So get ready for the rest versus rust. No, this is what's going to be.
Starting point is 00:48:17 No debate here. You watch Minnesota and Dallas continually add guys to the IR play beyond. It was back-to-back overtimes, right? Believe so. Yeah, in Minnesota it was for sure. Yeah. Because Dallas won the, is it late in overtime one or early overtime two? Johnston with the tip.
Starting point is 00:48:33 And then, uh, mini. Yeah. It's a good series. Similar, uh, OT goals,
Starting point is 00:48:40 actually, Johnson's tip and, and boldies. The buck on net. Like those two players? Yeah. Yeah. The puck on net.
Starting point is 00:48:48 Pick them up. He'll say something's missing. Blue Jays or. Bender report. Did we talk? I was king. Yeah, it's not much to say there.
Starting point is 00:48:58 Yeah, it's over. Wild stars. Two games tonight. Kind of teed up. that Tampa Montreal we did Philly Pittsburgh, Vegas Well if there's nothing to talk about it I'll go to washroom
Starting point is 00:49:09 Yeah I guess we'll see you buddy's There was a late game last night Oh I went to bid Because I watched the 10 like that Tampa Montreal Yeah Look like it was going to go to overtime and then the Hegel stuff I went straight to bid Overtime
Starting point is 00:49:27 Oh that's why they were sending in the quack You know what it was in Anaheim I often because there's such late starts on the coast I often forget Sunday night Tough puck drop there Yeah. I see what happened. It was kind of an earlier puck drop.
Starting point is 00:49:39 Is that why people texting in? Can you give us an update? Just reading. Oilers running out of time to find another level, it says here on this. Jackie, I feel bad. I'll do a read if you can kind of just look around.
Starting point is 00:50:02 Take a look. Get some details on this. Hearing loss clinic, hearing loss. dot CA locally owned and operated. Roadsie doing good things. I got to go. I'm hearing,
Starting point is 00:50:12 I'm getting a, a pop. That's Jack. He does that all the time. Oh, is that what it is in my headset? Whenever he's your overseas. Because, of course, I've been going to the hearing loss clinic and they're taking care of me.
Starting point is 00:50:23 I've got the hearing aids and that sort of thing. And they've been, uh, they've been helping me out. I'm sure it's fine. Uh, people of all age can suffer from some degree of hearing loss. You think about your kids.
Starting point is 00:50:40 They don't know what they're looking. They have no idea, but if they're all of a sudden, they're in the classroom, they can't be very challenging for kids. Health risks like dementia, depression, others have been linked to untreated hearing loss, and there's no reason for it to go untreated when it's so easy and convenient to get done. Five locations in Calgary, five in B.C., Cranbrook, Creston, Fernie, Golden, Invermere. Five. And five in Calgary. The one in the university district. So it's not five.
Starting point is 00:51:11 It's actually, yeah. 10 on them. 10. Helping you hear better is simply their way of helping you live better. Book an assessment today. And if you hear a, hearing loss.ca is the website. You just went.
Starting point is 00:51:25 A couple weeks ago. It tuned you up real good. Oh, yeah. Is there any chance I can get in? With what location, Mr. Warner? Where would you like to come in? I kind of bullied my way.
Starting point is 00:51:35 Yeah. Whitney. Yeah, we would say don't do that. But did you have an ear wig? What is an ear wig? I don't know, but I don't know. couldn't hear shit yeah and now you can i can now back baby yeah you're totally back some controversy last night controversy jack the embiton oilers led to nothing and three to two
Starting point is 00:51:57 off to a hot start but the ducks crack fighting back right get it to overtime and we're going to be in for a long lengthy overtime not so much as we take a look oh show me this please what happened that's what's been effective again did that is a classic world been stick by McTavish paling greener rustic jari's looking around can't find it back this one over time oh Curtis is the art and the officials are talking this over over that couldn't find a jarry was
Starting point is 00:52:38 looking around That's not in yes. It's going. Rock. Walk. Keep moving, puck. Oh, that's tough. At the iPad, at the penalty box,
Starting point is 00:52:55 it's. After review, the puck completely crossed the ball. What the heck do you know? Beautiful stuff. Yes, it did. It sure did, guys. It absolutely did. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:10 Great play. Great play. I'm just glad this happened in Anaheim. Like there would have been a thousand fights in Emerson last night if that happened there. Probably was anyway. There would be anyway. Probably was anyway. So.
Starting point is 00:53:22 I hate controversial goals, dude. Would you say this is one? Not mine. There is some controversy. I don't know if it's about whether the puck was in or not because the puck's a circle and you can see where that circle is going to stop. It's not on the line. But the controversy is about the process of how the refs arrived there. well it's cool that's all that matters that's all that matters I feel bad for the cultural capital festival city yep
Starting point is 00:53:50 Shelbyville you've three games to one you still got a chance played well who's in net Tristan jarring oh good charger giving everybody a chance then yeah that's got a picker decks is another they roll it's isn't that what our idiot that's what we were told he should have started this game actually That's what we would. Okay. He was good until that Darnell nurse own goal you just watched. Is that Darnell putting it in? Off the heel.
Starting point is 00:54:21 I don't think he meant to. I don't know if Ryan Paling meant it to either. Let's see it all again, do you? Yeah, I'd be kind of missed those much. Because I was definitely sleeping. I told myself, go to bed because no matter what happens, you won't be able to sleep. Yeah, either too happy or too upset. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:54:39 Ecstatic or pissed right off. So it is early, obviously, two and a half into the overtime. They just throw it on. And they're actually, here's the thing. Yeah, you know, there's not going to be a whole lot of oil or love at the table. Sympathy. Jerry was fine in this game. It was quite good.
Starting point is 00:54:58 Yep. Anaheim does score four. There's no empty netters. They score four, but Jerry had made some saves, Jari, including one off of Cutter Goce earlier. I think it was right before that faceoff in overtime. Mm-hmm. the issue is and so many people have talked about it and I guess we will as well. You see where the refs are.
Starting point is 00:55:19 There's one on screen. The other ref is way back there. The other two are nowhere to be found. It doesn't even point. This is called. Yeah, there's no call. There's no call here. And so the ducks are like just selling like it's in.
Starting point is 00:55:32 We think it was in. And they actually start going down the tunnel at one point before the call's even made. So in my, in my mind, Because of, it's kind of like the, if it's close on an off side, just let it go. Let the play develop. If a goal goes in, then we'll go to instant replay and then we'll let. It's like calling the five minute major and you can always knock it down to a two.
Starting point is 00:55:57 We're seeing it all the time. We saw it a number of times this weekend. Call the penalty. Call it a five. Then we get to look at it and determine what it is. So that in the end, it's kind of a circuitous route to get to the right call. but people are having issues. Here, the call on the ice is a goal.
Starting point is 00:56:15 So my guess, they get together, call it a goal because then they'll go to the replay and we'll get. We would all do the same thing. I think in that, hang on. Because unlike the five-minute rule, if you call this no goal, it's still going to go here. Like I am getting there. The only problem is here, when you call it a goal,
Starting point is 00:56:36 you need to have evidence to overturn it, which you would think we're going to replay. It'll be clear. They'll have a great look at it. Well, we'll be totally off the hook. It takes it out of our hands. Everyone will see what it is. I was like, ooh, it's not conclusive in the sense of you can clearly see what it is because of that bloody skate blade, which is crazy.
Starting point is 00:57:00 Yeah. And I think logically, we know it's crossed the line based on it being a circle and the line being straight. But our understanding of the rulebook and how it's been used. is that, well, you need the video to show the white between the puck and look at a circle. What does a circle look like? We'll start with that one, Jack. So a puck is a circle, we believe.
Starting point is 00:57:20 So this is what a puck looks. So that's a circle, okay. And that's kind of, sorry, I meant to crop this. I can't believe I didn't crop it. I just grab it quick. So that's the Gary Betman. That's a Stanley. That's the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:57:31 It's a playoff puck. So we know what about the puck. So then if you were to take that puck and kind of keep it to scale. Keep it a circle. and put it over top of, you know, kind of overlay it. That's what it may, may look like. So there would be just. That still looks like a circle.
Starting point is 00:57:49 That has to, yeah. Yeah, it feels like there would be a smidge of a hair. I don't know what kind of hair, but a hair of some sort. A thick hair, yeah. That would fit between the edge of the puck and can we zoom in that at all? Or is that just as that is to say it. Also not cropped. I don't know what I was saying.
Starting point is 00:58:04 I just grab it. I'll crop it later. Look at here I am in the middle of the show. I'm so excited. quite. Just ask AI if it was in. What do we think about Jerry's shoe lace work there? That's an old school. It is old school.
Starting point is 00:58:17 I have not seen the triple under in a long time. That's a weird. So if we can do it for even a second, the Euler fans feel like what the age. How is this called a goal when no ref was in position? And the one guy who was the closest certainly made no motion to suggest it was a goal. Two things can be. true. The officials can definitely
Starting point is 00:58:40 not have been in position to call the school and that was a mistake and they also can get the call right, which is what the lead did because it's in. It's amazing because this is a mistake. All of it. Either. If you call that a goal, mistake because they were no position to
Starting point is 00:58:56 call. They couldn't see that. Puck was no, they're both about the goal line. F and way. And the linesmen are halfway up the walls and Jerry's a large man with padding on and that's right under his skates. No. And if you call it no goal, it was a goal because if you do this sort of thing. Yeah. It's in.
Starting point is 00:59:13 It's crazy to think that because that just in my mind, that's, that's the thought process. Call it a goal. That's what they did. Then they'll look at it. And we'll get clear. And the right call will be made. And it was, but yet still.
Starting point is 00:59:26 But again, like they're still going to look at it if they call it no goal. That's like, that's the part that's not adding up to me. Like they could just as easily say, well, call it no goal. We're going to look at video anyway. It's not like if you call it no goal, you can't review it. That's why they use the fives because you can't review unless it's a five. They would have reviewed this. They're reviewing it either way.
Starting point is 00:59:46 And that's a league would have called in and said, whoa, and what I don't know the answer to is if this had been called no goal on the ice, can we play the circle line game and know that it's in? Or do we need the video with the white? I don't know. I'll bet you. It's not called.
Starting point is 01:00:03 Because we know it's in. Like we just showed you the. Whatever. I think it was the. call on the ice that determines the outcome of the game. So you think of that's called no goal, it stays no goal. I think they find a way to call that a goal given we know that based that it's flat on the ice. It's not in the air where that distorts the angles of the camera.
Starting point is 01:00:19 And we know that it's a perfect circle. We know that the line's straight. We know it's crossed that line. But I am curious, does the league give themselves the leeway to say, because we know it's over. There's no way that did not cross the line, but there isn't a picture of it. It's still very close. It has to be clear. It's not like when, say, the goalie makes the glove save and the gloves behind the line and you can't see the puck.
Starting point is 01:00:42 Well, it's clearly in. They can't see the puck. But wouldn't you, sorry, I'm not. If you can't see the puck in the goalie's glove and you know the goalie's gloves behind, do they call it a goal? Well, if any part of the glove is touching the line, you could argue that that's where the puck could be in the glove. But again, I think one is there. We see enough of the puck that we know where the other end is. I know why you want to argue this part of it.
Starting point is 01:01:07 it. I'm saying, have a little bit of, if, like that's a comparison, if that goal, he catches a puck and it is in his glove and you can't see it,
Starting point is 01:01:17 I don't know, do they call that a goal? If the whole glove, we know the puck is in, crosses the line, yes. But what if a portion of the glove does it? Well,
Starting point is 01:01:25 that's, then we don't, because we don't, but this is not a, we don't exactly where this is under the skate. This is the same. It's not the same thing, because he's saying we can't see it in the glove. You can't see the edge of the,
Starting point is 01:01:34 but we know where the end of the puck is because it's a circle. I understand. Like, I agree that you cannot see it. I can, we should take this off because we're showing it. I can, I would say this.
Starting point is 01:01:46 If I'm an Oilers fan, they have a legitimate beef. Yeah. There is a legitimate beef. So you will have a skewed and you have to. I agree with it. There's a mistake in the process there. I do think they get the call right.
Starting point is 01:01:56 But there was, the process was shit. I agree with they got the, the call right as well, but I don't know. I think the puck was in, but by rule of law, I don't know if they did it right.
Starting point is 01:02:07 I agreed. Yeah, I think we're all on the same page here. Which is why it's a mistake either way. There is a no-win situation for the NHL because it's too stubborn to do the right thing with the tracking technology. Like we're literally getting, we're getting tennis players serving the ball at like 200 kilometers an hour and you have replays where it touches on the ground to within like a 1th of an inch. Like how do we not have cameras on each side of the post or something in the puck that there's one. camera that isn't in the rafters and it's blocked by a blade, like, come on, guys, you're a $5 to $6 billion league annually. Put cameras going each way across the goal line from the bottom of the post. It's not that hard. Then it's like, oh, there's this blade. Yeah, we can see, look,
Starting point is 01:02:51 there's a gap. There's no way there's not a technology that could figure it out. They're too stubborn to do it. What I'm curious about is, would the NHL based on the circle line, allow themselves to call it a goal or not? Because that would feel like a stretching of what they've done in the past, not something consistent with what they've done in the past. Know what I mean? Come again. So let's pretend they say, we weren't in position, we're calling it no goal, which is what they should have done.
Starting point is 01:03:17 No one sucked. Oh, do you think they'd have overturned a no goal call? That's what I'm curious about. Because there isn't video evidence, but the puck also didn't grow a half centimeter either. And you, like that image we're showing, well, they allow themselves that methods to prove it. I don't know. I don't know. What's written in the rulebook? Is it, They need clear evidence, but what are they allowing his evidence is my question.
Starting point is 01:03:39 That's the thing. To me, I don't, that's not clear evidence. My interpretation would be the same. I think it's in and I think the right call was made. But if they call it an all goal and you need clear evidence, I don't know that I see clear. It's not in using common sense, is it in? Yes.
Starting point is 01:04:00 But that's not what the rulebook says. It's about conclusive. And because that blade is there, to me that takes away. And so again, with pitchers and video, there's nothing conclusive. Do they allow themselves to play the circle line straight? And I wonder, because you know, they'll be talking about it today. What's the directive to the refs moving forward? Is it continue to just call it a goal and we'll check or?
Starting point is 01:04:23 It was a mistake. I don't know how they called it a goal. It's a mistake no matter what. It's a mistake because of how you operate the system. Bad process, right outcome. And so Oilers Trans can be really upset. But when you look at that freeze frame, it's like, well, it was in. But the refs process was wrong.
Starting point is 01:04:41 Both those things are true. That's the only thing for the people involved, I think even oiler fans, is that I think pretty much everybody would say at the end. It's barely in, but it's probably in. How much closer? Like what if it was a little bit, it's close? More muddy. Because it's pretty, it's already. It's pretty close.
Starting point is 01:05:04 Yeah. If you cut that distance in half, now we're really, is it a centimeter? Like, is it touching? Yeah. The other thing that I've been thinking about a bunch is like, that line isn't on the ice. It's under ice painted on a floor that's been flooded.
Starting point is 01:05:18 Yeah. And that's why it doesn't have sharp edges because you're looking through a little bit of ice and you're like, man, this is getting like when we're talking about millimeters, that's why I wonder about the technology. It still has to exist somehow, some way. Oh, for sure. We're not smart. But like with tennis,
Starting point is 01:05:33 that the line is right on the, it's all right. There, sensors under. You could put the sensors in the, like, there's, there's definitely ways of, yeah. Another, like, conspiracy theory I saw. If there's an image of the full net, like the posts are supposed to be the same width as the goal line, two inches diameter, goal lines two inches.
Starting point is 01:05:51 They're not. They're overlapping the top and the bottom line. So it's just another rabbit hole for people to feel like they're getting screwed. But, like, was the puck in, everyone looking at that image thinks it is, did the right to, refs do the right thing? No, they didn't.
Starting point is 01:06:04 They weren't in the position to call. the goal and they do. The rational takes online is we're pissed off with how we, at least from oilers that I saw. This sucks that this, how this happened things probably in. One step further is down three to
Starting point is 01:06:19 one and maybe that's where you deserve to be. Yeah. Because you've blown leads, you scored first in all four games. You said it last week and I've seen it brought up since that the main difference here is the Oilers are playing a team that
Starting point is 01:06:35 can score. The Kings didn't have the offensive firepower to come back against the oilers in the last three years. The Sought against Colorado. The ducks caught, the ducks do. And the goaltending hasn't been good enough for them. That was their best goaltending in the series last night. And still when you went back. Four. They're and to the oilers, it hasn't been, they haven't been power play. They've been over six in the first two games. They've got three, I think, in the last two games, but still, five on five, they've been okay. They're scoring four goals a night for the most part. That should be enough to get you.
Starting point is 01:07:13 Energy levels from the ducks is better. They have a high skill level and they're playing their asses off. Yeah. And the power play for the ducks has been the difference. We've talked so many series in the last four years with the Oilers power play. The Oilers penalty kill has killed less than half of the Ducks power plays. I, and I don't know if it's because it's 45% at one point. I don't know if it's because coaches have watched how the Panthers played the
Starting point is 01:07:36 theirs. But all the team, LA, it stands out because they had it and they totally tried to sit back. The ducks aren't. The other thing LA did that the ducks didn't do and haven't done, LA shortened their bench like crazy.
Starting point is 01:07:54 They basically went to three lines and four D and they gasped their guys. We're seeing Tim Washy's fourth line out there with less than five minutes left out against McDavid's line for a D's own draw at home when you get to choose. Now that might be a little extreme, but it's clear that Quinn trust them and they've done a really good job against the big guys, albeit both of them are less than a hundred.
Starting point is 01:08:13 That is why Joel Quinnville is always, he is a hell of a coach. Because he knows, he has talked to that fourth line and said, this is what I expect. Go do it. And they're like, F, yeah, I'm doing this. Passed Al Arbor into second place all time in playoff victories. With the last night, he is now second to only Scotty Bowman, who continues to be the mark that they all chase, but the, uh, I think it's for the, for the oilers is, you've given up 17 goals in the last three games under no circumstances.
Starting point is 01:08:50 Are you going to win, let alone in the playoffs? Worst goal setting in the league heading into that game, obviously a little better there in terms of like you didn't allow five on a night where you should have allowed two or three, but still four. Still four. Yeah. Like if that's your best night and I don't care what anyone, like, I'm not making excuses. for the others because they don't like them. They gotta be tired.
Starting point is 01:09:11 I don't care what anyone says. Your mental makeup and your, we talked about human nature. There might be a little human nature. It's huge fatigue. Right? There's fatigue and some degree of injuries, right? You think about dry saddle being absent for how long
Starting point is 01:09:26 and that load that it put on the rest of those guys. And now McDavid gets nicked up. He's skating at every TV time out. They're still using him on penalty kills. BX had talked about it. If he's hurt and it's something, that he doesn't need to keep loose. You're trying to peel back some minutes.
Starting point is 01:09:42 He needs to go on the ice every opportunity you can, which tells me that you're shooting him up or something's not good. He's worried about something getting stiff on him. He's shoot. Is that right? The Oilers' power penalty kill is 50%. They killed off the last Ducks power play last night to move up to 50% that is the worst in the playoffs.
Starting point is 01:10:00 So now we touched it. Make you feel better? Did your job well? I mean, no part of it makes me unhappy. I didn't even like a little I can't watch it. I went to bed. I made the mental calculation that all right.
Starting point is 01:10:19 The others are up to. And I'm like, well, I don't need to sit here and watch this. Yeah. And be pissed off when they win. We're so jacked. Or go, I'm going to pour myself four fingers of scotch.
Starting point is 01:10:32 And an old coach texts me this morning. Hard to feel sorry for these guys. What did you wake up to? that and dog shit. All right. Diary. Pinder report time for our good friends at Village Honda, where the $2 million buying event is on now.
Starting point is 01:10:55 If you've got an expiring lease or an extra vehicle, take it to Village Honda. Complementary appraisal. No. Jack, did you drop a bomb? What? Don't snarl sticks in here. I thought it was right.
Starting point is 01:11:11 We got people. coming in here. Guests coming in here. Oh, they're coming right into the studio. Complementary appraisal. Start the process at village honda.com. It smells great up in village honda. It does.
Starting point is 01:11:22 No need to crack a window up there. No new car smell. New car smell. Oh, so good. Oh, love it. Let's get to the Pender Report. Last night's finals, we start there. We touched on all the series.
Starting point is 01:11:34 Eventually, we got to that late game. I know everyone went to bed early. I'm glad we didn't like that. Well, so late, eh? Into the radar. So late. later. Big Win, Sabers, abs move along.
Starting point is 01:11:44 Tampa, the big rally, they were down 2-0 in that game, not just the Oilers up 2-0, and the ducks close it out. Let's take a little closer look. We start Buffalo Boston, or excuse, yeah, Buffalo Boston. Here are the memes last night. Sabers enjoying how things went in Boston, Dino, looks like it.
Starting point is 01:12:02 They're having fun here. And is, is it Benson? they're calling the rat. That is Benson, yeah. He's found a way. There's a little Marchand and chucking him. You know who's been good here has been Bowen Byron.
Starting point is 01:12:19 He's got three goals. Yeah. A guy that had was part of that cup win in Colorado. Not a ton of guys we talked about on that Buffalo team with Plov experience. It's him. It's tuck. It's McLeod. And kind of available for a while in Buffalo.
Starting point is 01:12:34 Not cheap, but yes. A guy that, okay, is there going to be off for sheets? Can you trade for them? What are they asking for? how much money. They said, okay, we're willing to make the bet that this guy is going to be a difference maker and what a bet it's been for them. It's been awesome this postseason. Next game, I was swam and geez, we showed this.
Starting point is 01:12:52 He was hot going to the bench. Don't need to see it again, but things clearly not going their way in cost. It's the playoffs. You're at home. You're hot. You're facing a 3-1 deficit and this is, I mean, I get Rett's take on it. He played. He's been part of a team.
Starting point is 01:13:09 You just don't do that to your teammates. But sometimes maybe you have to. And maybe it's the coach, I don't know. Yeah, like we're, he's upset at someone for sure. Yeah. We don't know who the sway dog's mad at, but he's hot. Started so well. Felt like they were in control coming home one, one.
Starting point is 01:13:25 Great composure, swimming. Colorado, L.A. We wanted this to be over. It's over. It was not close. How many minutes of this series did you watch? More than I needed to. I had a bunch of abs in a playoff pool and I'm like, God, this is low event.
Starting point is 01:13:40 The King's play. played the type of hockey you wanted to play. It was tight checking, low chances. But Colorado was undeniable. And it was the last game of Anzee Kopitars career. I'm sad about that. Period. Period. Stop.
Starting point is 01:13:53 This is him saying goodbye to the faithful in Los Angeles. Not a lot to cheer about, but they did cheer for the last 2.16. He was on the ice. You know, we talk about it. Everybody does, but we talk about it. Is there any allure in having a being a one jersey player? And then you watch something like this. Oh, there's something about.
Starting point is 01:14:11 about being, that was easy for him. It's a whole thing. He signed a fat contract. For a while, I was like, ooh, he's being paid too much.
Starting point is 01:14:18 So, of course, it was easy for him to sign it. But there's something about that. And this is the deal after that. He took a little less than a shorter term one. He's a hell of a leader. Everyone loves him. And he took his kids to the press conference after the game and said,
Starting point is 01:14:32 if your teammates have good things to say about you, that's probably the ultimate sign of being a good player. Universally respected. Yeah. Even in Calgary game 82, he got a rousing round. Well, my wife was like, what's the big deal? They're all shaking his hand. What's the, did he play for the flames?
Starting point is 01:14:48 No, it's just he's retiring. Oh, was he one of, no, he's not the best. It's just, I don't know. He's. And he was very impactful. He was very good. Two cups. Two cups.
Starting point is 01:14:59 Thirteen hundred. Yeah. Thirteen hundred and sixteen points played the game the right way. Yeah. Selke's a lady bang. Yeah. Hell of a career. Cool.
Starting point is 01:15:09 Yeah. Slovenian. Hmm. All right. Let's go to the Tampa Bay, Montreal series. Late goal from Brandon Hagel. He has gone full beast mode. We talked about it.
Starting point is 01:15:21 All the stars on this, this lightning roster. Oh, you got to be talking about Hadman. Well, he's got to talk about Vaselowski. He's got to Kutcher, against a monster. Six goals. His game winner, noted it before.
Starting point is 01:15:35 He's got six. The rest of the team, five. Wild. It had that feel that they're going to be hard to kill here tonight. Yep. Even down to nothing. They just kept pressuring and going. They were doing all the line matching and that.
Starting point is 01:15:53 Just the demeanor of Cooper on the bench, you could just, okay, that they mean, this is, they know how big this game is. And it's felt like it was going to be a long series and every game has gone to overtime until this one where the winner came in the last 10 minutes. If this was the Stanley Cup final, you would be absolutely jack. Yeah. Right? Like we talk about Minnesota and Dallas. And Dallas?
Starting point is 01:16:18 This is very similar. They're the two best series going on, for sure. All one goal games tied to two. Hard to think it doesn't go seven. And that game seven could go over time. It's been awesome. Edmonton, Anaheim, we talked about it a bunch. There's some heated Oilers fans.
Starting point is 01:16:35 Process was not right. result probably was. Here's Mark Specter, who's not going to miss the Oilers point of view on much. Folks, the puck was over the line. If this happened to your team and they said no goal, you'd be apoplectic. I've had that Mark, thank you. Yeah, I think he's accurate there.
Starting point is 01:16:51 There's some other line circle things we could show you, but you know, we've done all this. This is more of my speed here. This is Jay Woodcroft. Who is this, Jack? Who's our boy here? That's the beaver. Who? The beaver. Well, hard work. what do you?
Starting point is 01:17:08 Oh, I got you now. I got it. And he's the, why is he at this game? What's going on, John? Yeah. What's he doing here?
Starting point is 01:17:16 Oh, he coaches the good guys. He's an assistant on the quack, I didn't know that this whole year. And you see him in the playoff. And that's great. That's great. Yeah. And look at the gate and the arm swing.
Starting point is 01:17:28 That's the guy having a great day. Yeah, that is, to your point, in the dictionary, shit eating grin. That is the photo. that you will find. Old Knobber post game. He's a very unusual guy to watch the press conferences
Starting point is 01:17:44 because it's just so tepid, measured, and calm. This was a really easy opportunity to get fired up and take a run at the league and say those officials screwed it up. That's not the process. No one was in position. Yeah, I just, I don't know that we were, we didn't know one to communicate it.
Starting point is 01:17:59 But there's conclusive. I just, I don't know, I'm like, it's got a new penny. I'm not, that was a chance to fire up your boys. And he just, them both. There's something missing there.
Starting point is 01:18:09 You can run with that, Pinder. You can work on a knobber. Might not have enough time. I'm going to say the track that I'd be running out here. I might have two days left to knobber and he's gone. Our Mike Gould is, you know, I kind of feel partly responsible. He does not miss when it comes to tweeting about the Oilers. Wow.
Starting point is 01:18:30 McDavid has not been a plus player in a playoff game since game four against Dallas. 11 games in a row in the playoffs, either even or a minus rating. Now, he's hurt in this series, but only Mike would be able to mine that kind of data. Incredible stuff. That's great. It's passion for the calls.
Starting point is 01:18:49 It doesn't mean F-hole. We don't like plus minus until we see this, and then we tweet about plus- Yeah, we can use this at this context because it's very stormed out. News. There's your bracket. Got some good ones.
Starting point is 01:19:00 Dallas, Minnesota, 2-2, Tampa, Montreal, 2-2. Carolina is through. Colorado's through. We'll see if Utah, Vegas gets a 2-2 tonight. And then we're on watch. Boston, staving. No.
Starting point is 01:19:12 Pittsburgh, staving. No. Edmonton, staving. Hopefully not, please. We'll see if they can, but that they're in staving mode. They're trying to stay. They're going to need to, yes.
Starting point is 01:19:22 Stupid Goudas hadn't fallen. Maybe we do. This could be over. That is actually insane. Oilers with blown leads in every single game. All right. Well, carry on. There you go.
Starting point is 01:19:34 Uh, tonight, here's what we got. Those are two games. Seven Eastern 5 P. 537. What was the 7 Pacific? 5. 5 Mountain Jack.
Starting point is 01:19:45 That's what that is. 7.30 Mountain. Perfect. Perfect. Good. Do we want a little bit of a banger here between Utah and Vegas or do you want this over? I kind of want to see the series here.
Starting point is 01:19:55 Let's go. Let's go. Yeah. Depends on who's winning the series we just talked about. It's not going to be a short one. Like if the Oilers win that series, it's going to have to be seven. that's where they're at right now.
Starting point is 01:20:09 So I don't mind a long series all of a sudden with the... But you're right. Let's wait a day or two. We don't. I'll need fatigue for the next. Interesting note from Philly. Matt Veimishkov, the highly touted top six pick. It can be out. Well, anytime you can get Alex Bump back into the lineup with Noah Cates and Tyson
Starting point is 01:20:32 Forster on your fourth line. Huh. Advantage something stupid, though, right? Advantage penguinos, Jack? Yeah, he took a bad. finally he is it's him and talk it right you see back and forth kind of clear his day but the one thing for the the the the the flyers like if you're brier and it's getting way ahead of it if talk it and mitchkoff aren't going to work out what a piece to move yes you have some young
Starting point is 01:20:58 talented players i'm sure conray would give you a lot to get mitchcock would it be any different for him with huska I wonder though. Every coach thinks it's different and he's going to get different opportunities. And it was torts before talking. And it was sort of the same stuff as in his rookie year. Now, not a rookie anymore.
Starting point is 01:21:19 Expectations are probably different, but maybe. So you don't want them. No, not that. I'm just saying it's been two coaches that are defense first and I need to trust you before I play you and both have sort of. They're not just playing the piss out of the kid.
Starting point is 01:21:32 If you can get them, yeah, if you can get them and change his habits, yes. Exactly. But if you can get them, and it's like, Ooh, this is all the same kind of.
Starting point is 01:21:38 Who needs to get him? Because remember. Anaheimonde, Joel Quindival. Well, they're doing well Cuttergoche. Like Cozmanco, right? Cosmanko, oh, he's really good except when he's not. And then he's a bit of a liability. And you get up here, so a guy could score except when he's, yeah, whatever.
Starting point is 01:21:53 And then Oscar was not, you know, scratch him and that sort of thing. Not the same, but maybe some similarities. Some flames content for you. Actually, let's start with Ottawa. It's Brady Kachuk. It's got a new nickname. We like nicknames, right? Are you going to be
Starting point is 01:22:07 Because you went a little over the line last week Me? No. Oh, 07. Oh, okay. Zero goal, zero assists seven pims a game.
Starting point is 01:22:16 Tough series. He tried his ass off. That's pretty good, actually, for a tweet or whatever that is. Yeah, that'd be kneeler. Neeler. Nealer. Clever.
Starting point is 01:22:29 Do we worry about the offseason in Ottawa? Like, Brady's got two years left if I'm correct. at a very reasonable rate. Boy, there's a lot of rumblings about him wanting to have. Well, I think everyone believes that's what he wants, but obviously he's said nothing. And I think he likes the young group,
Starting point is 01:22:46 but then you get swept, how do you feel now? Do you feel like you're closer? I, I wonder if there's underlying the USA Canada thing. I think it's real for Americans. Yeah. I think it lives in the Cachucks,
Starting point is 01:23:01 the Tchukka Cajucks specifically. Well, and it, Could you be any closer to a scenario where somebody else left and went somewhere? And it worked out well for them. That was like, oh, I don't have to live in Ottawa, Sunshine Tax. It's not ideal for Ottawa, potentially. Look, and if you are Ottawa and it's headed, you have to trade him. You can't let him walk.
Starting point is 01:23:26 Oh, well, maybe he'll have a change of heart and this. Questions when. It's not it. Yeah. Like he's committed to them for six years. I believe there's two years left on that. There was a point in time where I was like, he's the better chuck. I'm not physically.
Starting point is 01:23:40 He is, but I mean, that's tough serious. I think he is. He's bigger. I don't think. You know who produces in the playoffs? The other one. But the other thing, too, is I feel like if Brady had to be the third best panther, he'd be great at that.
Starting point is 01:23:56 And that's kind of what Matthew's been great at, right? Yeah. Like it's Bobrovsky and Barkov are clearly, to your point, more important than. There's something about Matthew. But Matthew, but Matthew wins. He's, yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:10 You single-handily K-Oed the Panthers or the hurricanes in that series last year. He didn't keep scoring game winners. You wouldn't notice them all game. No, overtime.
Starting point is 01:24:17 Matthew's got chucked. Open the gate. Yeah, Matthew's, they're both D's. They're both D's. I think they're both gamers. Matthew has a little more sly dog to him, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:27 A little more. Dark arts. Yeah. Two more years, 8.205. Listen, which is a student. He wants to come and play in Calgary. Oh.
Starting point is 01:24:34 Marine will take her. I saw him drunk here once. He loves coming apart. He loves that, Pete. Kid me? Crazy. And they also won that Kachuk family. I think so.
Starting point is 01:24:46 Yeah. Craig. Craig. Yeah. Call Walt. Get this shit, though. Some Flames Nation stuff for you. There is still conversation around the team.
Starting point is 01:24:55 You obviously know the draft lotteries May 5. Join us and it will be a Greta. More information on that throughout the week. But what do they do with Ryan Lomber? What do you do with Lomber? Good. Question page. I keep looking at this lineup and I'm like, okay, I see 12 wingers under contract plus Hubert
Starting point is 01:25:11 O and Hansick who are hurt. That's 14 turn up wingers, but the whole roster is full and he is a winger and I've already got two spare wingers and they're all on NHL1 way. Kind of one of those like them, don't need them to the scenario. I think it's so we love you. We don't have room for you. Now maybe you know Huberto is not ready for the beginning of the year. That might change things.
Starting point is 01:25:30 Maybe someone gets hurting offseason training. No. Would two different, very different players. Maybe you've quit on Marty Pospicil and you think that you prefer Lombard to Pospicil. But the path back is really tough here. Pospicile's deal hasn't kicked in yet, though. Well, that's my whole point. I was like, you're kind of married to him, right?
Starting point is 01:25:47 It's 31. Got a cup ring, leader, Vibes guy. And it is a vibes saying versus, I just, do you? Do you thank him for what he's added to your culture and say bye? Well, do you say you're our extra and we'll fit you in when we can? bring a good attitude he was making two and even then
Starting point is 01:26:09 like let me walk you through the wingers here so you finish the air no I'll just stop you there's no argument to be made where he's going to win out on wingers I'm just telling you there's not even a spare no I but like the only reason you don't have the room it'd be
Starting point is 01:26:25 it things could change is if the coach is like behind the scenes this guy is a big put you saw what we did our fight our spirit it, he's a big part of that. Then you do sign him and you worry about it after because on everything else tells you, no, you don't
Starting point is 01:26:42 have room. You've got too many contracts, too many players, too many wangers, all. Who knows? Maybe possible stills the center, but I haven't liked him at center ice or anywhere. I don't think that today's roster is the same as the roster in September. Do you know what I mean? Yeah, I agree. There's movements that can be made.
Starting point is 01:27:00 Here's an example. Let's say you go to the draft and you're using a second. You want the rocks. Did you see the Rucks Saturday night? Oh, my God. Pick them up. But you've been, we can talk about us all the time. I'm serious.
Starting point is 01:27:11 Yeah. We've got lots of time to dissect this roster, but good article in Flames Nation from page. Good job, page. I guess page is the page. Next, happy birthday to the Paul Star. 37, Paul Byron.
Starting point is 01:27:26 Boy. He actually turned out a hell of a career. Sure did. I think we wondered whether it was going to click or not. Former Saver. Robin Rakeer. Yep. What about Robin?
Starting point is 01:27:39 He was part of the trip. There you go. Who else isn't that deal? Colique. Alish Colette. Alish Kotelik. And a pick. How do but they get here?
Starting point is 01:27:50 St. Louis. No. Jesus, Dean. How do I know? Batsy? That was my earlier. Trade expert? Not an insider.
Starting point is 01:27:59 We're all confused. Let's get to Jack. We've whittled the field for the Moro Cup down to six. Teams plus the Colonna Rockets. I'll do it again. Oh, what, Reddret. You bring us through. You tell you.
Starting point is 01:28:11 Kitchler's up two nothing over Windsor, Brantford, my boy, McKee, two one over. Oh, really? The Barry Colts, Moncton and the blob are going at it. Robin Regere with Codolique for Butler and Byron. That is a terrible trade. Oh yeah. Yeah, that's really bad. Cotelik was addition by subtraction.
Starting point is 01:28:31 He, uh, definitely scored a lot in the miners or, That is a terrible trade. Horrible. Yeah, he needs to get something there. Jay Feaster. Although Paul Barron, if you'd have held on to him. You didn't, though, Dean. No, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:28:43 No, you sure didn't. Even then, Paul Byron was nothing, like, yeah. Compared to her gear, yeah, you're right. Anyway, Sawyerwater. Everett, tight games against Penticton. It's been real close. You love it. They're up.
Starting point is 01:28:55 And PA kicked the piss out of the tigers on Friday. Big time. And how did Medicine Hat bounce back from? And then Medicine Hat came around and they said, Not yet, young man, and they swiped them with their claws, Dean. Swipeers. That's what tigers will do. No swipe up.
Starting point is 01:29:11 Five nothing. And also, an absolute snowstorm up and peat. Bad weather. That's weird. 105 inches of snow. Christopher Lake this year, which is just, though it's Prince out. That's so you know. Wow.
Starting point is 01:29:26 Lake's going to be high in this year. Doug's worried. It's not a lot of water. I've got to move snow. Got to move snow. Got to move some snow. Doug up there moving snow. And then I'm like, I'm like, well, doesn't snow when it melts?
Starting point is 01:29:37 Can I all go? It's on the lake anyway. You tell you, don't be an idiot, Rhett. He's stupid. Dad, do you know what gravity works? That water's going to find some low ground. So you're sick at hanging out with mom then? Oh, Brett, shut up.
Starting point is 01:29:51 That's Kudmi Ramoski tied one-one-two. Oh, sorry. Schu-a-me-s, man. That's-cutomies, man. Do you have the women's? My. Your women? My cousins.
Starting point is 01:30:03 kid, the Red Deer Sutter Fun Chiefs, Champs. National champs. National champs. Oh my God. Ronnie McLean. Talked about him. Show them a little clips. They showed the Tulles Cup. They showed the Allen Cup. They had a bunch of highlights on the intermissions. Congratulations to the Reds-Ears Sutter Fun chiefs. That's what they're called. The Blue Jays will open a series of the Red Sox. They won't talk a lot of baseball, but there was a very hilarious oopsies with the Red Sox.
Starting point is 01:30:31 they gunned Alex Corrin, the entire, most of the coaching staff. And, you know, after the computer boys in Jared Galant in Florida, you got to make sure you get to get to throw them in a taxi. We're firing you. You got to get them out of there. After a 17-1 win, wasn't it? So this looks like a nice van, right? Yeah, I feel like I've been in that van.
Starting point is 01:30:51 It's not nice. It's gross. It's called Coaches for Hire. Oh, see? Because it's, that's terrible. You couldn't find another company. That's terrible. Because they all just got, yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:07 I still think the funnier part is the party bus taking the fired coach. Don't take a blue light in there, Alex Cora. Care for where you sit? Hey, Al, you want to go for a spin on this fast pole? Alex Cora, I'll just tell you. I'll get my own. Christ, an Uber would have worked, guys. This is gross.
Starting point is 01:31:27 Ew. Why is there a stripper pole in the middle? of my ride to the airport. It'll be, don't cease for the Blue Jays. I got to say the Jays fans in my life. Quiet. Quiet and discouraged.
Starting point is 01:31:45 A lot of injuries. Closers looked like shirt. He's lost his job. I understand all the reasoning. I'm just saying that the fans are losing hope. A lot to gripe about. They did take two or three from the Cleveland's and they face Boston for three.
Starting point is 01:31:58 Jared is chiming in. I'm not sure if that is the, that's the bang. Why are there so many cameras in this? How can we all know what that means? Is that the drive? Come on. We have two females watching probably and even they know.
Starting point is 01:32:15 At least. Yeah. Love you. NFL draft is done on the weekend, Jack. How did the Steelers do? What are the vibes coming out of the draft? My me. Very meh.
Starting point is 01:32:27 What? The draft is a quarterback, Drew Aller. Oh, Drew Aller. And? Very controversial within the Steelers' faithful. Very Kenny Pickety. Did they actually get him or did they think they were getting him
Starting point is 01:32:43 and then some team and I moved in the draft? No, they got them. They actually got them. That's exciting. No, I didn't, I wasn't, I was dialed on the pens. I didn't, I kind of missed the whole draft thing. It's probably too late and I know I should have done. Oh, we got to go.
Starting point is 01:32:57 Maybe tomorrow we'll go through all of our teams. Oh, yeah. Skip. Okay. Sure. How they did. CFL drafts tomorrow because they got to wait to see which Canadians get drafted the NFL. All right.
Starting point is 01:33:08 Stampeters. I know some good drafts. So let's get ready to go here, fellas. Tomorrow. Quincy Vaughn got drafted. Jill and Philpott. What is that green? That's the club that got drafted from.
Starting point is 01:33:21 So you can see right below it says North Dakota fighting hongs. And I believe you got the Washington State Cougars on the far right. Of cougars. And then Jail and Philpott from the Dinos. Royal. Big fan of Bert. Yeah. I actually just texted Bert this morning. Leave Bird alone. He don't want to talk to him. No, his goalie was great. He loves. Teach for my kid. Cougars.
Starting point is 01:33:42 Big time. It is. Yeah. Soccer is notoriously soft, right? Yes. From what I've been told. We finally found a soccer keeper that's willing to play contact sports. And we love it. Keeper. This is in the Spanish League. The Zaragoza in the green gold center. Zooka. Yeah. And he's going to get cards.
Starting point is 01:34:02 by the ref who's like well if I'm out I'm taking him with him. Yes. Bang! I guess I'm out. I didn't know Ridley Greg was a keeper. Take that Tom Wilson. Got a duck there, buddy. Under that one.
Starting point is 01:34:19 Well, then pop. Finally, snow and April, no fun. It was a good weekend to watch sports. Not a good weekend to be outside. Baseball keeps getting canceled. Do you know you're broken up over that softball being canceled? Yeah. This guy's bad.
Starting point is 01:34:32 Borside today, it's a fucking snow. I'm gonna be the weather man for city use, okay? The mirror is. It's a fucking snow today. It's a fucking snow next week. It's a fucking snow next month. Every fucking months, it's a snow. Get you fucking shabble.
Starting point is 01:34:50 If somebody say, global warm, I'm gonna take my shab, I'm gonna stick right in your ass. Talk to the global warm. Fucking it is cold. Fuckin' it is snow. The snow, fucking everything. Poo, you son of my bitch. He's a Steelers guy.
Starting point is 01:35:07 He's upset about the duality. That was me Saturday morning. I don't know how you got that video. Fuck in a global warming. Fucking a snow. That's your Pinned Report this Monday, April 27th for our friends of VillageHonda. Now's the time to get a deal on tires. The spring tire sale is on.
Starting point is 01:35:23 Up to 140 bucks off a set. Go to VillageHonda.com for more details. There you go. There you have. It's there it. That guy's got a thing. Yeah. I mean, it feels like it's, you know, it's very much by design.
Starting point is 01:35:38 Oh, you. I'm okay with it. I was trying like he was doing there. Yeah. He knows he's doing it. I was all right with it. Let's do our bets. Bet 365.
Starting point is 01:35:48 Hockey fans, if you're tired of waiting for the end of the game to get paid, then listen up. Bet365, official partner of the NHL has three goal early payout. If the team you're riding goes up three goals at any point in the game, They'll pay your bet out early. Yep. Hockey moves fast. And with three goal early payout,

Starting point is 01:36:17 I'm sorry, Jack, hate to do it, but it felt like more of the flyers stumble more than a penguin's resurgence. Really? I mean, to take the current,
Starting point is 01:36:27 well, because they dominated the first three games. I would say this. So I will go with you on this strictly because Jack is half-ass of it again. Yeah, I know. He's going to be sleeping in bed tonight again because he's got the two-day hangover going. It's going to be the Flyers. Crosby's going to get his three shots.
Starting point is 01:36:41 Porter-Martone's been unreal. Just need two from him. That's plus 340. That's a nice number. I like it. And up top, Ernie Clement rakes lefties. He's facing a lefty today for the Red Sox, Dylan Cs, 12Ks. His last outing will touch seven.
Starting point is 01:36:54 And gets a little run support. I like him to win. That's a plus 440. Big game hunting today. Love you. able to pay for the flights to Pittsburgh. Oh, no. Unless that.
Starting point is 01:37:07 It went tonight than the whole bit of a fly in the ointment there, but, uh, ooh, sorry, Jack. Weird of Ryan to, uh, somehow root against you, Jack, but yeah, it's a little full of support. Yeah. It's like that's, you know what? It's for the bigger, it's for the greater good. It's for all the people watching.
Starting point is 01:37:26 It's for bet three, six, five. You think I'm wrong. I can go the other way. They take the, this might be exactly what we need money line if you want. Those are our bets. They don't have to be yours. Don't have to be yours. Bet 365, it is the three-goal early payout, which is awesome. When your team goes up by three, you get paid. It's that simple. Download the app today. Must be 19 or older. Please play responsibly.
Starting point is 01:37:46 I bet you we got some. Yeah, there's a few super chats that have come in. Super chat as we're live. Yeah, it's been all this has happened. Lots of weather. All kinds of things going on in the city. Opinions are. There's many festivals. So great. You centers of Calgary will benefit. New Bob Dole.
Starting point is 01:38:06 $5. One, wish me luck, boys. I've got a screening interview for my first registered nurse job later today. Two, thoughts on the caps. You think we bounce back. They just lost Kirk baller. He keeps things loose. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:38:20 They announced Kirk was going to pursue other opportunities. He was an assistant this year. I love a lot of those young guys. The ProDast brothers, McMichael turned out to be a pretty good piece. We love the Cole Hudson, how he's looked early. I think they're a good team. Ryan Leonard. out of BU, yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:34 There's a lot going on out east. It feels like there's a plethora of talented teams. I actually think Logan Thompson's probably the best community goal. You're going to find this way. Yeah, I think he's all right.
Starting point is 01:38:43 It's a nice foundation. They kind of, and do they have the chick dog? They got the chick dog. You know what, 24 goals this year? Chick dog. Shoot the puck. Shoot the puck.
Starting point is 01:38:52 Chick daddy. I wonder what they do, you know, John Carlson, depending what happens. It might be. I think John's like it. Maybe blessing in disguise. You kind of,
Starting point is 01:39:01 you're able to move on there. You already kind of. Everybody wins. It does make me wonder about Ovi because I like they're trying to turn everything over to the younger guys. New Bob Dole. Yeah, that's up to Ovi. If Ovi wants to come back. They're not talking to them now.
Starting point is 01:39:15 Good luck, buddy. Good luck, good luck, fella with that screening interview. Go in there with confidence. Go get them. Hopefully you got those skeletons in your closet tucked away real day. Freddie Eddie's five dollars. Oilers fans crying over that goal feels so good. So good.
Starting point is 01:39:32 I don't listen to him ever, but I got to imagine there was a lot of... Someone was reading the rulebook and there's some nuance. Apparently you could see a McDavid tier between the puck and the line. I saw that, so that verified it was there's so much stuff. A lot of that this night. My kid made an interesting point last night sitting on the coach. He said, yeah. If you cheer for another team soon.
Starting point is 01:39:56 Yeah. Pittsburgh. Yeah. And Pittsburgh loses out. do any of those fans, do they jump on the Oilers train? Or is it just strictly Oilers fans? Because I said, well, it's just Oilers fans because they're idiots.
Starting point is 01:40:12 Like who's jumping from one team, their favorite team, Montreal, Toronto? And you're out. I think some do. I think you change teams. I just think the Oilers are so far down the list because all of the other organizations are mad. I thought it was great insight from my kid at least. But I think we've seen it. the last couple of years.
Starting point is 01:40:31 I think those are true hockey fans. I think those are just losers. Oh, I'm the hockey zone. Because it's the people who are like a cheer for the oilers. Yeah, I'm a whatever fan. If you're such an oilers fan, head up there with your jersey and get involved. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:46 Keep your hands up. Take a few swings. Swigs and swings. Yeah. One leads to the other. Oh, big bear. Big Bears. Six and nine and nine.
Starting point is 01:40:56 Today's affirmation is cackling like a maniac at the memory of, of Boosh standing straight-legged in the slot collecting minuses. We have missed a lot of Oilers since the last show. Big Bears on the ball. Big Bear. Stop missing very often, boy. I hope Little Big Bears is doing good too.
Starting point is 01:41:12 Yeah. All Bush. Scored a nice one. What a pass he made, too. There's Ken, $20. Hell! To Soilers fans, it was called a goal in the ice. Don't come here looking for sympathy
Starting point is 01:41:25 after years of shitting on flames fans over the gel in a goal. Put an H in your chest and Handle it. Be on happy right now. emojis, emoji, emoji, what's an age?
Starting point is 01:41:36 Ken's having a, what's the age? Uh, handle it. H. That's my guess. I don't know. Put an H.
Starting point is 01:41:42 H on your chest. Handle it. Okay. Thanks, Ken, 20 bucks. That's, that's nice for a little
Starting point is 01:41:48 Jarger Stinks avatar. Good work there, Kenny. Nice little piece of business there. 20. Masked man, 29, 29, 699.
Starting point is 01:41:59 Fellas. If the NHL puts a narrower line, exactly the puck width behind the goal line, if the puck touches that line, it's a goal, simple solution. Yeah, this is, I believe you they're called the confirmation line or something that's been batted around as an idea for a long time.
Starting point is 01:42:16 What a help boss night? That's a lot of lines. Yeah, have you just had a thin, different colored blue line? And, oh, it touched that. That means it's fully crossed the red. We know it's in. That's easy.
Starting point is 01:42:25 Also, you can put more than one camera in a net and do a tracking thing. But then it'll, But then if that line is as very The other one is like, well, there's a touching and they can't really touch. Just get put some chips in this. Do it all. Have you seen some of the stuff AI can do right now? I are a robot for Christ's sake.
Starting point is 01:42:41 Get a robot in there, Gary. Go. Stubborn. Thanks, Matt, man. Boaps. 279. Skinner should try shaving his bad luck mustache. Is that a thing, Jack? Is the mustache?
Starting point is 01:42:53 That would be, I don't know. A bold move. Maybe it is the mustache. Huh. I thought of that. It's this very, I mean, it's Warner level tick. Oh, a lot of falcons. Yeah, the follicles per 60.
Starting point is 01:43:09 That's commitment. That's the kind of attitude Jack went into on Saturday with. He's dropped the ball in the other games. But that would be maybe what Skinner needs to do is really commit to this. I don't think you be playing again. Have you got the playoff beard going by the way or have you been? No. Why?
Starting point is 01:43:27 What do you mean? Your team's in the playoffs. Jack. You're going to write this down for you guys? What are you mean? It's really into sports, eh? Sometimes I feel like we've really done well with Jack. We'd point them in another time.
Starting point is 01:43:37 What have we done here? How is he just learning about playoff beards? Sorry. Oh. Good idea. We'll pass it along. Tell Skinner when you're down there. Mario Zapata, $10.
Starting point is 01:43:50 I thought about watching Game 4 of the Carolina series, but I drank a six pack of Nike will instead. Same result, Zs. Also, go abs. finally, Edmonton is a loss away from fading away into long-term irrelevance. We could be so lucky, friends. We could be so lucky. I'll tell you what.
Starting point is 01:44:09 Game four of the Carolina series was actually the best. That was the banger. It was an absolute. They were fighting and it was amazing. Yeah. And this is the best. Now, and this is just, do not drink a six-pack of Michael under. Yeah, we don't know.
Starting point is 01:44:23 Under any sort of sense, he is being facetious. He is. We hope. I don't know if he'd be typing this morning if he had six bottles of NyQuil. It's not an idea. Donnybrook, two bucks. Ducks have absolutely no pressure and it shows.
Starting point is 01:44:40 There is no pressure. You're going to play because he like to play. Good coach. Fast, young, talented. They can score. Vitamin D. They don't have that seasonal adjusted. He's hitting their frigging goalie up a little bit.
Starting point is 01:44:53 It's still an in-four a game. Pick out a little bit. All right. Up through one. And Donnybrook. That's all. All right on. There are your super chats.
Starting point is 01:45:05 We'll take a quick break. Yes. You can begin your Monday afternoon. Oh, I got a lot of time to go. Yeah. Good luck with that diarrhea your dog's got. I know that's tough. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:14 Sorry. Jack, you want to come over, help out? You want to watch the game? Persian rug, Jack. Yeah, he's on the other day. You guys could do a little barter system. If you help me with the diarrhea, it'll get some food.
Starting point is 01:45:28 brought in by your flight to Pittsburgh special guest after a tight turn jac mcneal the calgary stamp peters what a year it's going to be over at mcmans stay there welcome back we have a lot of car dealers on the show and happy for that we've just made a swap we made a trade uh we traded a warner for a j mcneal i feel great about it i don't know about you i mean it looks looks good you know it's it's it's got the new car smell it's the other one of his head collected a clean shave and haircut it's It's quite a, it's a better shape. It's a hell of a swap. I'm feeling good about this trade.
Starting point is 01:46:06 There you go. Yeah, it's all the matters. It's all the matters. James McNeil, Calgary, Stam, Peters coming in. Good to see you. It's, uh, I was thinking we had you in a, maybe it was a little over a year, a little under a year ago. But two years ago, team misses the playoffs, wild changes on and off the field,
Starting point is 01:46:24 personnel, the whole thing. And then the year that you guys had, you don't win a great cup. But how would you? you, maybe letter grade or if you were to kind of look back on it, from where you were two years ago to the year that you had last year, how would you kind of summarize it or put a rating on it? Yeah. Maybe I'll get to the letter. Yeah, yeah. Okay. So, um, first of all, I'm very proud of, you know, what we accomplished as an organization, like on and off to field in 2025. You think about where we were to where we got to, uh, you know, from our team perspective,
Starting point is 01:46:58 arguably a couple plays away from going to the great. Uh, and then, From a business perspective, you know, we led the league in year over year revenue growth. You know, we had attendance growth. Like, it was a successful year off the field as well. When you get to a letter grade, though, our number one goal is the Winter Grade Cup Championship. We didn't get there. I don't know you can go with an A if you're not achieving your number one goal.
Starting point is 01:47:19 And then I would say the same thing off the field. You know, we had we may take great strides, but we didn't achieve what we were hoping to achieve. So I'm going to give us a strong B plus. Okay. So there's lots to build off for 2026. See, that's the bark of a good, you know, boss. you can't we have our projections we have to hit maybe we have behind closed doors like we had a pretty
Starting point is 01:47:36 good year i'm pretty happy with how it went but you got to give the uh we'll take a b take a b plus we expect more but it really was i i i think i told you the last time you were through coming up you know the stampede bowl and different things to get maybe old fans back to the park new fans energized and i think sometimes if you look it's a hard job promotions and that sometimes things can come off as a little silly or gimmicky. But I thought that you guys hit all things last year. There were great ideas. It went off. Everything just went off
Starting point is 01:48:10 so well last year. It does raise the bar, make things a little tricky moving forward. But none of that stuff felt like it was contrived. It was all fun and it all seemed like it hit. I couldn't agree more. You know, and what I love about that is it really takes an organization
Starting point is 01:48:26 to hit all those points that you just mentioned. I really took everybody. really committing to doing something different, being bigger and bolder like we talked about. And everybody in the organization did. It was great, but you said we've set the bar high now. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:39 And so what do we do in 2026? Hosting a great cup this year that's huge. It's a massive opportunity on the field for the team, off the field. I'm sure there's some extra buzz around the CFL. What does it mean to you personally when you got a huge event coming up in the fall? It's a big opportunity, right?
Starting point is 01:48:56 Huge opportunity. You know, I think throughout our organization, whether it's on the business side of things or in our locker room. Everybody understands this is a huge opportunity for organization. Something that doesn't happen very often is to win a great cup at home. And so, you know, first and foremost, you know, Canada's largest single-day sporting event, you know, we want to put on the best Great Cup in history. And so we're excited.
Starting point is 01:49:19 We're really happy with where we're at and the plans that we're building towards that. And then to be able to, you know, come in and lift the Grey Cup as a team afterwards, I don't think it could get any better than that. That'd be an A-plus, I think, Dean. That'd be an A plus. If you could not hold it in April, you might get some good weather for it. Yeah. Because if you held it this month, you'd be really kind of Russian roulette for sure.
Starting point is 01:49:40 How do you have, I know that you don't, but I just wonder, you have a wealth of from your playing days of experience there. Does Dave ever bend your ear a little bit? Do you ever kind of, hey, Dave, do you want a coffee, sit down, have a little chat with what you're saying? Because you played a long time and have, like I say, a wealth of experience and knowledge. there. Well, I think he, you know, he likes to let me talk because, of course, I get excited about it. But, you know, more, when we speak, talk about things, more of it's around, how do we fit this into our budget? How do we fit this into our plans in the future? As opposed to sort of the day-to-day transactions. But it's, but it's fun. I have to be very careful because I like
Starting point is 01:50:20 talking about that. Sure. Football, like, just gets me so excited and I can't wait for training camp to start. But I want to make sure that I'm not putting, you know, asking too many questions. And, you know, I don't want him thinking, you know, I'm questioning. Yeah. Because I know the draft's coming. It's like, yeah, she's Dave, I don't know if you knew the draft is coming up here. If you need any. Dave, you know, you need a good lineman to win.
Starting point is 01:50:39 Some big boys, huh? Yeah. Yep. We had that conversation last week. Okay. Yeah. Kind of nice in some ways for, I guess for your job, it's still very busy. I would, I would guess for him less changes.
Starting point is 01:50:51 Is that fair to say there will be less turnover going into this year than there was? For sure. Oh, for sure. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. When you look at, you know, we overhauled our. coaching staff going into 2025.
Starting point is 01:51:00 We only had one change this year. And Jarrett Jackson is coming to, former head coach, former offensive coordinator. So we're excited about what he's going to bring to our organization and to Vernon Adams as his coach. And then, you know, in our locker room, we were really focused on. We thought we had a really good team last year. And so let's make sure we get our players signed. And so during free agency, it was all about getting the guys we wanted to be here, make sure that they stay.
Starting point is 01:51:24 And then we were very, you know, choosy through, you know, through free agency. and we were able to bring in through guys that we're excited about. Is Calgary still as sexy a free agent destination as it always been? It always felt like you're in a good spot to bring guys in the city, the team, the winning, the whole thing was always kind of felt like a bit of a leg up on a lot of the teams. Absolutely. You know, for the longest time, it was the Calgary advantage. Yeah, right?
Starting point is 01:51:50 You know, from opportunities outside of football, you know, after football. And then, you know, a team that is, you know, winning year in and year out, really, He really is appetizing for players. You know, in the last few years, I think we've gotten away from that a little bit, and we've been focusing on how do we, how do we improve that player experience while they're here? How do we help them become integrated into our community?
Starting point is 01:52:10 How do we find their jobs? I really bring back that Calgary advantage. The Stampede Bowl, I know we talked about when you came in, the trophy and all of that. Nailed it. I guess just not to revisit history, but can you go back?
Starting point is 01:52:22 Because it was always, you just, you don't stampede. It's like, it's like, death, you don't do it. It's like, well, unless, there's so many people in the city that maybe they don't need to go to hockey talks every night. Maybe there's time for one football game in there.
Starting point is 01:52:36 And you were just the genesis of that whole thing. And now as it heads into another year where again, it's kind of one of those things you look for on the schedule all of a sudden. Yeah, I know, certainly you're right. A lot of fans are talking about, you know, what's the halftime show for? Everyone lost it. Oh, yeah. And we're waiting.
Starting point is 01:52:53 So just too exciting you want to break. I'll tell you this. We have somebody signed. Okay. So now we're waiting to, when are we going to announce that? Any clues? Billions, billions of streams on Spotify. So I hope it's tape of credit.
Starting point is 01:53:12 That's scoundary girl. There's not a lot of billion streamers. Get to work, people. Let's go. I'm more than that. Brett, Mike, I'm thinking. Who could we guess? Like slash.
Starting point is 01:53:21 We got some good G&R coming in. What are we going to? We got to be cognizant. It's just not the Jay McNeil, what he wants. Oh, come on. Jay, we're singing last year, the little warm-up video there. But going back to your original question,
Starting point is 01:53:32 like the evolution of it all, you know, we would always, you know, book off those two weekends and not play. We either go on the road or we'd have a buy week. And then we play that first weekend
Starting point is 01:53:41 after Stampy at home. And, you know, it's a challenge. People are tired. They get a lot of money. They're on holidays. And to get them to come out to a game, it's tough.
Starting point is 01:53:51 And we try different avenues, whether I think, you know, it was our family day game against Ottawa in 2023. And then in 2024, we did Wally Bwano's Wall of Fame game trying to, you know, bring, and we played BC, which was a Western Division opponent. And we sold the same amount of tickets both years. You know, we got to do something different here because this isn't working.
Starting point is 01:54:11 And that's how, that's the how we first started that conversation. And then like I said, the organization got behind it and then exploded. I feel like there's, it's that new way of thinking, kind of new. Let's try and get a little bit that I think maybe we're starting to see across the league. They've been heavily criticized for being, you know, old boys, oh, we can't do this. We can't do that. Well, we've seen some rule changes come in and then stuff like this. And I think that it's only good, good thing.
Starting point is 01:54:38 Again, we're about the same vintage. I'm fine with let's, let's try some things. It's okay if things don't work right away. You have to adapt and move on. And I think the league is finally seeing that. I agree. You know, it's about modernizing and getting with what do young people want. We talk about all the time.
Starting point is 01:54:55 There's not enough young people come to CFL games. So let's try to make rule changes that's going to make it more exciting. How do we bring in different events, you know, like the Stampy Bowl that are going to attract a different customer? The Great Cup's a great opportunity for this for Calgary. That's one of the things that we've talked about with this opportunity only coming once, you know, arguably every nine or ten years is, you know, how do you attract a new audience? And there's Calgary's demographics are changing every day and how do we introduce them to the CFL? Well, Jack's pumped up. He's got a Coors jacket for the Coors Coral.
Starting point is 01:55:24 I know that adds work. his demo. And also, Jack, were you undefeated last year? Yes. Three and no, baby, yeah. You get jacked to the building. It's guaranteed win. We better make that nine and no issue. I don't know how much cap space you got or if you can hide that somewhere else. But like, you need to figure your summer.
Starting point is 01:55:41 We will figure that one out. There are rumblings about in New Jersey. There's been some leaks here or there. What can you tell us about, I really like the candy cane stripes, but you might be trying something new this year? Well, you know, again, talk about, you know, how do we modern? How do we celebrate the history of the stamp eaters, but also modernize it that would appeal to a younger demographic? And so, yeah, stay tuned for some things that might be released later this week. No green, though, right?
Starting point is 01:56:08 Still no green. I get mad at when people in the office are wearing green. So there's no green allowed. And you've got, what, I believe, an event for season ticket holders or clients at Red White Club later this week? That would be a red and white time. It would seem to announce? We'd make a lot of sense, wouldn't it? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:56:23 Red and white. It's a lot of shirt. Jersey. Spoiler alert. We'll look forward to that. So with the Great Cup coming and what's the ticket? Like what is because I'm guessing a lot of people, myself included, I haven't thought that far ahead. I can barely think to next week, let alone November when the Grey Cup comes.
Starting point is 01:56:40 But for ticket availability, is there like a tier? How do you, is it season ticket holders? And then how does that, what's the best way for people to make sure that they're there? Yeah. We started out with our pre-sales for season ticket holders back in January. And so now we're working through all. those pre-sales, we will be on sale to the public on May 11th. So, you know, the best way to get tickets right now is to be a season.
Starting point is 01:57:02 Get a season ticket package and then you get a discounted. You get a discount on your great cup seats if you're a season ticket all there too. Exhibition starts soon. I saw a tweet from the social media team last month. It's like, we know, we're playing next month. I'm like, shit, we're just in April. Is this in April Fool? Like, no, you get an exhibition in mid-May.
Starting point is 01:57:17 Like, it's coming quick. Yeah. Yeah. Really quick. Yeah. Rookies report next Monday on the fourth. And draft tomorrow. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:57:23 This is all happening fast. fast. Wow. Would have been great to have those rookies here the last week. It's like it's 25 degrees. It's minus 24. What is going on here? There is this place.
Starting point is 01:57:33 Yes. Yeah. Yeah. And then your regular season opener is June 5, which that's obviously a big one as well. I know the league's shifted forward a bit. You can't go too far because you've got to respect the drafts and things like that. But are you happy with that was sort of another modernation the league's gone through the last five or 10 years? Generally speaking, we're, you know, we're happy with our.
Starting point is 01:57:54 schedule this year. You know, it is with with BC and Toronto hosting the World Cup. Yeah. That, you know, and their stadiums being offline for six, eight weeks each, that really made it challenging this year. Sure. Scheduling perspective. So, you know, you had to be flexible, more flexible than in years past. And ultimately, I'm really happy about, you know, where we landed, June 5th. We're playing, we're playing, we're playing Winnipeg. It's the, you know, we're celebrating the year of the horse. Yes, it is the year of the horse. We're also going to be welcoming back our 2001 Great Cup championship. Amazing. Yeah, so it's going to be a lot of fun.
Starting point is 01:58:26 And I'm looking, Stan People will be Toronto on July 2nd. That's correct. That's coming quit to. With an unnamed artist. With an unnamed artist. With an unnamed artist. Google before tomorrow. Millions.
Starting point is 01:58:37 Millions. Billions. Billions. Billions with a bee. Billions and billions. A lot of streets. It's not bad. I wanted to touch on one final thing.
Starting point is 01:58:46 And I know it's way down the road, but it's something that I see hardcore Stamps fans talking about a bunch. We understand that McMahon Stadium has done a lot of good work for a long, long time. and everyone wants to know, but what is the next home? And while it's done a great job now, obviously we've heard whispers about what could be happening at Stampede Park and can you coexist something for Stampede with a track as well as a stadium. Is this anything you're touching or is this more people at the board,
Starting point is 01:59:15 the city? Like, where, how far are we from Dreamland to like we're working behind the scenes is this? I think it's still just talk. Yeah. at this point, you know, and for sure your comments about McMahon Stadium. You know, we used to even, you know, the last couple of years have said, you know, as McMahon Stadium approaches its end of life, it is at its end of life. So make no mistake.
Starting point is 01:59:34 Yeah. It is time for a new stadium and how do we, how do we make that happen? Yeah. You know, I think from a Stan Peters perspective, you know, we'll take a new stadium anywhere. Right. And we will lend our support as, as the main tenant. But it really needs to be a community initiative, right? 10 games a year does not drive an ROI to spend half a billion dollars on a new stadium.
Starting point is 01:59:53 So, you know, where is the best place for that? I mean, certainly at Stampede, we would love to have those conversations. Is it, you know, is it the field house they're talking about? And up by the university near McMans Dam. We'd love to talk about that too. Yeah. But it is time we need a new stadium. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:00:10 And so from afar, it feels like the appetites there, funding this is going to be the challenge. That's like, who's going to cut a check? Is it public? Like, that to me is, that's the big hurdle. So I guess from your guys's perspective, it's like, we're open to all ideas, we'll talk with everyone. That's right. Yeah. And the nice thing is, you know, four years ago, nobody was talking about it.
Starting point is 02:00:29 And now all of the stakeholders are talking about it. So that's a good thing. Okay. And it's interesting, I mean, we'll wrap it up, but I feel like it's, it's not a new challenge for you guys, for fans that go to games. It's not that it's a non-issue, but it's not surprised. You just, you don't even
Starting point is 02:00:47 just focus on the football. Grab your beer, grab your food, tailgate, have a good time. It is what it is, but it is. it is what it is. So just get in there and you just, you almost just kind of move on. And, and you guys have done a great job to kind of, you get over that, that hurdle. And then it's like, now that I'm just here, I'm focused on what's going on,
Starting point is 02:01:06 I'm having a hell of a good time. And the team's winning and a B plus from the president. No, B plus, just B plus. B plus. from the president. So I mean, things are coming. Maybe it's because we were close to it last year. We paid closer attention. But, uh, I sure noticed a lot more people talking about it. The logo is still the best in the league. The colors are great New Jersey, the game, the great cup. You're poised for a hell of a year.
Starting point is 02:01:27 It's going to be a fun summer. Congrats on all the hard work. I can imagine it's been a ton of work. You're the horse. You're the horse. Exactly. Love it. Love it.
Starting point is 02:01:36 There you go. Jay, thanks for coming in. We appreciate it. Thanks for having me. That'll do it. See you, buddies.
