Starting point is 00:00:11 Hello, lads. Welcome once again to a, another week, another podcast, another Monday as we get into it here. I really thought that we would be, because we kind of had the almost like the funeral, the post-mortem. We were really kind of all into it on Friday when we talked last. Most-mortem. We were getting into the, how did Bill Zito do this? How did you get here? What an unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:00:41 story. I just thought, well, I guess I didn't think we'd be talking about a game five with how it went. And if you were to tell me that someone got shit pumped 8-1 Saturday, probably would have picked the other side, probably would have put some money down on the visitors, not the hosts. Teams always look good when they're up 3-0. That's the thing about teams being up 3-0. I remember Tampa against Montreal in the bubble final and it was 3-0. I guess things fucking over. But, you know, they've got another game or two, whatever it was. I don't know. I mean, look, that's as good as you can look for a team that was down 03, but there's still, there's still no room for error here, is there, fellas?
Starting point is 00:01:24 Is this, is this potential then for peak sadness? Because at 3-0, so the, the, disappointment and everything, it just, it all settles in, geez, we're not going to win this thing. And then you win one. Hey, maybe, maybe. And then if you get throttled in game five, Oh, so you kind of, you know what I mean? You definitely, peak sadness is interesting, but you don't want to mess around getting cute. Because peak happiness is unacceptable here. Yeah, I've not thought about peak happiness.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Still a long way off old peak happiness. Yes. Yeah, an old three hold to come back in seven and win, that would be peak. There's nothing better than that. That would be heroic, like, tell you're, where you were when. Can't have that.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Only one team's done it. Those 42 leaves that was. Those 42 leaves. Gosh. Campaign every year. Memories. Just beautiful, beautiful memories of all the way back.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Now, how did we take in? It's how it was the weekend, everybody. You know, we're getting right to it here. Just another championship, Dean.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Oh, is that right? Wow. Hit me. What are we talking about? Four and a one championship. It's all. One championship. It's all right.
Starting point is 00:02:37 kind of boring. Where was this? What kind of a show? The Buffalo Battle of Buffalo. Battle of Buffalo. Storyed battle. Storyed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Yeah. A lot of history there with the, oh. I do love that the kids are getting older and now they're really tough. Oh, are they tough now? Oh, God, they're tough. Wow. That's exciting.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Yeah. Very tough. Yeah. And mouth. Yeah. Yeah. Have never thrown a punch in their lives, but so tough.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Yeah, we've never had a fight even at the playground. They've never even had a playground fight, but look out. Yeah. Don't you're mouthy and not tough. That combo's odd. What are you going to do? Hey, what are you going to do? I'm all tangled. Hey, you want to go? You want to go.
Starting point is 00:03:26 So is this the oldest? Galute? Yeah, it was more of a funsy. So we spent some time at the ring. So some people you hadn't seen for a while, it was fine. It is hot. in Buffalo. That's all right.
Starting point is 00:03:39 But we're soft, right? Society. Too hot. Like if it's, if it's 30, stay home, stay indoors. Heat warning.
Starting point is 00:03:48 No school. Hide. It's hot. That's that right, yeah. We're not good at fighting that, I'm not sure what the, where you thread the needle, because it's,
Starting point is 00:03:59 geez, we've not had very many warm days. It's been awfully chilly start to the, oh my goodness. And then, like you say, I guess, oh, I could barely get to sleep last night.
Starting point is 00:04:08 I had to get the fans going. It was so hard. I could use the rain. My goodness gracious. It wasn't an issue of heat here this morning. We had the dads go to the elementary school and cook sausages and pancakes morning. So at an early start, a brisk three degrees. Oh.
Starting point is 00:04:25 On the bicycle ride to the elementary school. It's not right. Cold hands. But standing over the grill all morning. Be tough the day. Frost warnings. Jeez. yeah well
Starting point is 00:04:38 and you dean no no hockey tournaments what did we do so well yesterday of course it was our day and happy father's day to you too belated belated what did I do Saturday
Starting point is 00:04:54 watch the game obviously I was running kids around as I recall had to pick somebody up from a thing and then take them to a thing and then run them to a thing you're just a straight battle service right now a lot of miles right now there's a lot of lot of KMs on Saturday.
Starting point is 00:05:08 That's right now that I think about it. But the alternative is ignorant kid in your house, right? Yeah. Well, you can see they're busy and you run them around or they sit at home and mope and complain. Yeah. Met friends at the mall, wanted to stay at the mall, but then had a hockey game. So you not stay at the mall. So you drop them off.
Starting point is 00:05:29 You go back. You pick them up. Take me to the rink. You bring home. It's that. Yeah. Whatever. It's bliss.
Starting point is 00:05:34 It's absolute bliss is what it. is very very happy uh did we uh did we do anything special yesterday was anything special done for us with the i was anointed to the number one dad again yep i got a pair of socks to commemorate it yeah unbelievable well i don't want to brag but i got two pairs of socks who i got a mug that says rad dad and number one dad on my socks whoa very nice battle going on here don't we yeah a couple pieces of know what we need. We need our kids to step out. Yeah, they need to get in and have battle it out.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Really kind of battle it out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Went to see a movie yesterday, the new Inside Out, Inside Out 2, these latest Pixar movie. Ah, Pixar. Doesn't feel like a father's pick. Uh, you know, sure, you know. God please.
Starting point is 00:06:27 It's Pixar, it's whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Had some popcorn. That's what it all comes out to do. double air. Are you telling me you picked that movie? When with a kid? Well, you said you went to a movie and they said inside or whatever the hell it's called. I said, that doesn't feel like a dad's pick.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Oh, it was, you know, take the 12 year old to bad boys five or whatever it is. No, no, that's what I was curious was it was a family thing. It was a family thing. It wasn't a, Dean needs a day at the movie theater. I'm going to watch Pixar. No, no. Went with, uh, went with the youngest. It was, uh, just a nice, that's beautiful little day. And then, uh, and then dad got a steak last night and some baked garlic shrimp over at, uh, the keg. That's your joint, huh?
Starting point is 00:07:20 Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. See day. Medium mirror. I watched the golf. I saw Rory get ahead. Then I got railroaded into going to the pool, Rob Ray's pool for a while. by the time I got back, I saw him miss the last putt. Yeah. And then the drama was building, but I was the same.
Starting point is 00:07:45 I was forced into activities right at the point where you wanted to be watching the most. Because Bryson just couldn't hit a fairway for his life, it seemed. And then he's lost on 18. And apparently Rory hadn't missed a short put all week until he missed a short putt at the worst time of the week. Two. So what happened with Deschambeau? because he was, he was dick.
Starting point is 00:08:08 Now it feels like people really, people are quite fond of Brazen to Schoenberg. I'm misunderstood as probably in hindsight what we'll say, Dean. You figure? Figger. Fager? Because guys are taking runs in him for how slow he was. But his thought was like,
Starting point is 00:08:20 hey, if I'm just waiting on the next T-box anyway, like what am I in a hurry to go do? Stand in line at the next T-box. I'm going to take my sweet-ass time. He's like the scientist nerd, you know, all his clubs are the same length. Like he's,
Starting point is 00:08:33 you know, part physicist. He's not traditional. He's rub people the wrong way with just being himself. But I think as times past, we've seen that that's probably a bit of a beauty. Yeah, and I think he's probably figured out. Everyone thinks I'm a dick. Well, I'm going to have to, I got to have to change the narrative here.
Starting point is 00:08:55 I'm going to be a super nice guy. I'm going to sign autographs until there's no more autographs to be signed. I'm going to run up and down the, you know, let everybody touch the, the trophy. I'm going to hang out and do some extra media. I'd rather that.
Starting point is 00:09:13 Yeah. The be a dick. Yeah. It's a better look for sure. Yeah, it's a better look, right? Well,
Starting point is 00:09:19 and golf is plenty hoity tooty as it is. It is. Yeah. Get the crowd involved. Have some fun. Yeah. Yeah. Jump in a lake.
Starting point is 00:09:32 We've got Frank Cerrivel coming up in, just a matter of moments. Matter of moments. Has he been trekking back and forth? I don't know. He's going to be happy. It's a lot. And again, this is just game five.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Well, this is the thing. They went another. It was not extreme expectation in terms of, you knew you were starting in Florida than coming to Evanston. And chances are somebody's going to win while you're going to have some sort of a split. You have to go back to Florida.
Starting point is 00:09:59 I would think from Miami to Philly, if he's there, Miami to Philly, shorter flight, then you come back. No problem of Miami to Philly. Breeze. Miami, Edmonton, Philly. Ooh. Yeah, Edmonton to Philly, not a direct route, I'm guessing.
Starting point is 00:10:14 I bet not. Maybe some Chicago there, maybe some Dallas. Although he might do the Newark. Calgary to Newark. That's close to. He would do the Newark deal. Opening statements. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:10:28 Also, um, hmm. Hmm. I remember because we had a sponsor for Frank. Yeah. Is that still a deal? Or was that a- Yeah, boomer one more week.
Starting point is 00:10:48 Huh? One more week. Yeah. Okay. Rhett, tell us about Frank Sarvelli, brought to you by the horses. There you go. Yeah. What does that mean?
Starting point is 00:11:02 Horse racing, Alberta. That's right, Rhett. That's right, Rets. They're running again at Century Downs. What is it? Friday, Saturdays, boom? Is that right? Clippity, clackety, cluckety.
Starting point is 00:11:11 We were out there last year. I had the young Unabomber with me. And one of, I think it was Anthony from Village was there, one of his kids. And they were running around. They had the whole thing figured out by the end. They were telling Mr. Boomer who to bet on and everything. Anthony from Village Honda was there. We had the good folks.
Starting point is 00:11:30 Origin boys. Origin. Yeah. Boys and girls brought the ladies to the track. Yes. Why wouldn't you? Fancy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Isn't July 1st a big. Yes, that's the Packwood Grand. That's the word. Everyone gets all dressed up all fancy with their special hats. What are they called? The something something's the fascinators or something like that. Oh, it is? I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:11:52 You don't know what's like their version of the. No, I know. I didn't know the fascinators. I wasn't sure what that's. Oh, yeah. A special hat. Yeah. It's a very particular fancy highfalutin thing.
Starting point is 00:12:05 I just thought it was kind of a fancy hat. It's a specific hat. You got to wear it. No, I think all the fancy hats are called that referred to as. Well, again, pender from a more, you know, more fancy upbringing than myself. Upper echelon. Yep. Yeah, fascinating.
Starting point is 00:12:28 There you go. It's what the ladies wear in their hair. It's kind of like made that crinoline, see-through, crunchy stuff. Again, no idea what you're talking about because I'm white trash and you're fancy. Well, you're wherever we are. We're still welcome at Century Downs. Come as you are. Stay as long.
Starting point is 00:12:46 You want to watch outside? Watch outside. You want to go into the inside? We've got the food and drinks going. Get your bets going. It's a good time. We got some sweets there. You could get set up in.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Yeah, they do. Sure they do. Brought to you by Horse Racing, Alberta. Exciting live standard bread racing at Century Downs every Friday at 215, and every Saturday at 1245. For more info, go to the horses.com. And yeah, the standard breath, let's go.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Like, that's, we're talking about real racing. We're talking about racing. Love the names that the horses get to. Right? Who you got? I got porridge in my beard in the fifth, and I got a canker sore in the seventh. Pocket Skittles,
Starting point is 00:13:34 no good. He's lost his last five. Don't be fooled by the good jockey. He's No chance. Yeah. Skinned knee in the fifth. Get a little trifecta going. It's fun. If you've never gone, you need to go to the horses.
Starting point is 00:13:49 And that's no BS. That's, it's, you're going to have a great time. Never boring, never dull. It's like, oh, geez, I don't know about, I don't know anything about horses. You don't need to. Do you like colors? Like numbers? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Yeah. Who's like fancy names? What's a five. Is there a horse wearing five? There is. I like five. But what color? Red?
Starting point is 00:14:09 Oh, is it red? Oh, okay. I won 1,500 on five, my first ever horse race. Sure you did. You're like, this is easy, hey, Reds? And I was mad at Jeff Smith because it was supposed to be more, but he didn't think that I should bet that much because I didn't know what I was doing. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:14:24 Boy, was he wrong. What the hell does he know? Did he think he knew stuff about horses? Oh, yeah, do sink sees a horse. He's aficionado. Really? Yeah. You know, The Fascinator hat, Dean,
Starting point is 00:14:37 refers to the lacy fabric that European women draped around their heads during the 17th century. And the headware, just elaborate and made of that material, fascinators. Well, I'm fascinated to hear it.
Starting point is 00:14:52 I am. Yeah. Yeah. I don't think you have to wear the hat. No, of course not. But again, on the Packwood Grand Day, that's when you'll see a lot of those. You should, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:01 Yeah, if you want to really get with the spirit. You're going to dial it in. That's the day to do it. Yeah. So what do you think Frank's take will be on the game from Saturday? Well, he's an Oilers honk, so he'll say that the Oilers should be up three to one themselves instead of vice versa. They should have won game one. It's Canada's team and they deserve it.
Starting point is 00:15:25 It's weird, right? Like, because you couldn't have looked better, could you if you're the Oilers? Yeah. Everything went right, but it's still just one game. And everything else to go right for three more. Yeah, there's no to do. I don't think you take a whole lot from it either way.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Skinner makes that big save. Yeah, 2-1 comes across. A little bit of a flutter. Fluffer-nutter there from Verhaggy. Maybe it's a two-two game there changes things, but it did not go in. And then a bunch went in at the other end. I wonder, Florida Panthers,
Starting point is 00:16:01 one of the few teams in NHO history to lose two Stanley Cup finals games, eight to one. really tell us about those avalanche the abs in game two in colorado we're oh you're on hey were you close in game one i don't recall that series of something or one game one oh i think two one game three and then overtime me triple overtime so what does game two feel like when you're like okay you already know this team's away get us the f out of here you got to get us home yeah we're not coming back
Starting point is 00:16:37 So far to get home. For the horses, century downs, we welcome in our buddy Frank Serra Valley, who is back in the home studio. We were wondering about your travel. You're putting on some miles. Do you go to Florida?
Starting point is 00:16:50 How are you doing this? Of course, the extra day now between games four and five, a little break for you. Are you going? Will you be there if there's a cup to be raised tomorrow night? Yep. Flight is in four hours and came home for Father's Day, took the red eye out of Edmonton on Saturday night.
Starting point is 00:17:09 And yeah, I'm home for a day. Brian and Frank. It was good to see you in Bizonet with your shirts off at the game. That was nice. Love it. Yep. People would run if that were the case. It was quite a night at the old Rogers,
Starting point is 00:17:28 whatever it is up there on Saturday. It was. Look, that environment was the best that we've seen from any barn in the playoffs to this point. It was, it could have gone the other way in a hurry. You blow that two, you guys were just talking about it, that big save. You blow that two nothing lead in the first period and all of a sudden, you know, Brett, or sorry, Rhett, you were asking about, or you mentioned the idea that when you guys were down three nothing against, I know it went to triple Oat in game four against the abs in 96, like, I had a little bit of vibes being around the oilers.
Starting point is 00:18:05 that they were just ready to go. Honestly, like they were, their body language was terrible on the, the day in between games. I heard a lot of, man, that's a really good team over there. And I was thinking, there's a real opportunity for a sweep here.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Yeah, we all did, right? It just felt like, there was something about that, there was something about that game three, the way that Florida just instilled their will. And we were, we were talking on Friday show. How do you,
Starting point is 00:18:34 this is, how was this team built, Bill Z, giving him all the credit in the world and these guys are dogs and how they compete and the Oilers have so much. Now, that said, I think that Paul Maurice has got his head on head on straight. I'm not sure how much of it it takes in. But to the Panthers, I don't think there's a ton of damage. But I do think it gives the Oilers a bit of a boost. I don't think, I don't think they win the series. I still think Florida finds a way to win one more here over the next week. But,
Starting point is 00:18:58 but the specter of it has changed, right? Because this is a team that for three games talked about, hey, we got it quality looks, chances, and we just haven't been able to convert. You go out and get 15 different people on a score sheet in one game, and all of a sudden, the goal he's been pulled, so the aura of invincibility that was surrounding him, that's been punctured, and then you've got this confidence that, you know, can funnel through the rest of your team. And, oh, by the way, their power plays one for 16 has yet to take over a game. Dry Cytto has been quiet.
Starting point is 00:19:32 You have any one of those couple things happen. Can the Oilers win one more game? If the Oilers win one more game, I'd almost guarantee that we go seven. They win on Tuesday night in Florida. You go back to Edmonton for game six on Friday night. That's tough sledding for the Panthers. It does feel like it's going to take one more of those holy shit efforts from Florida.
Starting point is 00:19:56 We're like, how did they do it? And, you know, just the steely willingness to do anything to win, guys point their injuries, great goaltending. all they're going to need one more of those yeah and and ret if by the way like it's it is obviously you know red has played in a couple Stanley Cup finals but when you get to that stage and you're up three nothing it's hard to block out the emotion of what's on the other end of that like all morning we're in their dressing room asking them hey when when's the first time you ever dreamed of winning the Stanley Cup like that's the question yeah and and by the way
Starting point is 00:20:35 Kyle Okpozo's answer, and this is why I brought it up, is the first time he ever started thinking about the Stanley Cup was the 1996 final. He's eight years old. His parents let him stay up for AAA, and it was the first time that he saw it hoisted. And he said, from that moment on, that was the chase. That's the goal. Try and get to be an NHL player. Try and get a chance to win a Stanley Cup. That's when the seed was planted. And then on top of that, they're seeing the shitty body, language that you referenced with Edmonton. They have this feeling that we all had, which is there's just one team clearly better than the other.
Starting point is 00:21:11 I mean, it's, it would be very, very hard to close out a sweep. And, Rhett, you've been talking about that series. I mean, the closest game you had was four and they needed, what, six periods to get you? Yeah. Game three, I think it was a two one loss. So it was close to. But yeah, the, when you're up, it's, you hear it, game, or round one when you don't want to let a team back in.
Starting point is 00:21:32 Yeah. And Edmonton got a foot back in the door on Saturday. night again i think they're a long way uh from putting the pressure back on on florida but one game yeah they they they did they they did what they need to do if you agree well you win if you win yes immediately the immediately the pressure goes to florida where oh you can't close this out you're not you haven't been able to close it out so and that's why you don't ever want to let them even into it yeah right like that's why it's like never give them, like you said, their body language, they were down, everyone's defeated, has a bit of a
Starting point is 00:22:11 defeated feel, put them away. We said that when Dallas was up two nothing in game four in Edmonton. Put it away. We said that when Edmonton was up by two in game three, put them away. As soon as you let somebody back in, there's trouble. It is interesting, too, though, that we're holding them to a pretty high standard, if that's the case. You better sweep. but I know what you're saying, right? It's the psychology of it, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:39 The psychology of the 8 to 1 score too. Like that all of a sudden has changed things instead of if you had told the Panthers that they're heading back home with a 3-1 series lead before it started, they'd be like, oh my God, we're in the best situation ever. But because game 4 was so lopsided, all of a sudden everyone's saying, well, hold on a second here. Maybe this series isn't over. I don't think.
Starting point is 00:23:01 I don't disagree with your take on that. I don't think that's what Florida will think. That's what I'm saying. It's easy for us to look from the outside and say, oh, that, man, that game was, but they're still up three to one. I wonder about individually, though, because I'm with you, I think Florida finds a way they're going to settle in, but about Bobrovsky, all of those guys for the most part, one win away from from lifting a Stanley Cup, Bobrovsky included.
Starting point is 00:23:27 If the Oilers score in their first shot or get one early, where's his head at? I think he's been ironclad. This is the first time we've seen anything like this with him in this postseason. Again, I'm kind of reaching. I don't think it's going to rattle them. But I just as a team, not so much, but I wonder if some of the individuals, because like you say,
Starting point is 00:23:50 they're going to wake up and think I could be drinking out of that thing tonight. Well, it's not just game four. Like if you actually rewind a couple periods, so he played 25 minutes in game four, gave up five goals on 11 shots. I think we're talking about eight goals on 20 some shots
Starting point is 00:24:09 if you rewind a little bit. Before that he was 975, right? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It went from nothing to all in like four, five periods of time. Well, you go back to the third period of game three because they were, again, Oilers outscored Florida 11 to 1. The eight periods prior to that, Florida outscored Edmondson,
Starting point is 00:24:30 11 to 1. Help it make sense. We're talking about a series tied in aggregate goals, as you just mentioned. And somehow, Stuart Skinner has the better goals against average
Starting point is 00:24:41 than Sergey Bobrovsky through four games. Who's still the favorite to win the cons smith, by the way, I checked this morning. He's the favorite, but I think he shot his chances.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Yeah. So he shouldn't be the favorite is what you're saying. That's not how I would look at it. No. You'd set the odds differently. Yeah. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:24:59 Like, to be fair, the three wins they've had, he's been superb. If they're going to have a fourth win, he's probably going to be superb again, and that maybe he changes your mind again. Maybe. I mean, if they went in five and he was great in four of the games,
Starting point is 00:25:11 like, yeah. There's a limit to what I can say. I'm one of the 17 voters. I would just say that I was really on the fence before game four, and that made it a lot easier for me. Why were you on the fence? Because Sergey Bobrovsky got through round one
Starting point is 00:25:28 with a sub-900, say a percentage, and round two, he was 907. So you smashed the two of them together and he was 902. He was just average through the first two rounds. So you're not looking at the final super heavily is what you're saying there. Well, I do weigh it, of course. But has there been any hiccup at all in Alexander Barkov's game?
Starting point is 00:25:49 He's gone four rounds and it's been near brilliant. Yeah, and he's the one that's moved the most. He's almost even money now and Bobrovsky's a slight favorite ahead of him. So what you're saying is it's reflected in the market there. Bobrovsky was minus 350 to start game four. Huge favorite. Yeah. But I like, so go through the run.
Starting point is 00:26:07 So Barkov goes up against Kuturov, no goals against. He goes up against Pasternak one. Third rounds of Benajad, none. And then really until game four, I mean, McDavid has been good in the series, but until game four, he'd kind of kept McDavid in check too. Yeah. No, it's not too hard to build a good case for, for Barkoff.
Starting point is 00:26:32 They both didn't have their best game in game or we could say. Sure. But no, I would say no one did for Florida. There were a few that. Do you stop Forsling, another guy who should get some cons might love or consideration had a couple tremendous gaffs in game four. But then the question is, how deep would the Oilers need to go in order for Connor McDavid to enter the conversation in a losing case?
Starting point is 00:26:56 You're proud to win it. I think once you get to get to. game six, he starts to enter the conversation. Yeah, depending what happens in a game five or, yeah, if you get to a game six and beyond, and he sets some records. I get it. Yeah, he, he, he, I mean, dude, Gretzky had 58 records. Now he has 57. That's, that's, yeah, that's a real thing. Can I, I have a bond to pick with you cons, my voters. Okay. Keep hearing people walking through their logic over the years, and they immediately turn away from what might be just the obvious.
Starting point is 00:27:29 one and they start worrying about legacies of players and how they stack up against other Hall of Famers. It's like, I think that's really, it's not whose legacy should this go to, right? Yeah. I mean, look, I don't think legacy should have anything to do with it. I voted for Phil Kessel in 2016. That was the one. He should have won the cons might over Sidney Crosby. 100%. But that didn't happen. No. People started talking about Crosby's legacy. Well, this guy won this many. I was like, well, that is nothing to do with this award. Well, guess what? Since then, all of our votes have been public. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:06 That's how I look at it. Thank you, Frank. And I was part of the push to make them public and took a lot of heat for it. No, that's good. Transparency is always good. And still take heat for it. Trust me. Oh, you can tell Pinder's been hanging on to that for how many years now? 2016. But 2019, you could have, or 2018, you could have made a really similar case or asked the question about should it have been Kuznets off or a Vetchkin?
Starting point is 00:28:31 Mm-hmm. Yeah. Just looking up to make sure I got it right. Because Netsov was sensational that postseason. I did vote for Ovechkin one, because Nets off too. I mean, the margin was razor thin. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Well, you've made Pender's Day. Thank you, buddy. You could tell you. It's been losing sleep for. I thought I would make Rets Day. It was part of that 96 Cats team that helped fuel Kyle and rats. I mean, maybe not so much the Cats.
Starting point is 00:29:00 I guess more so the apps. Yeah. He mentioned he's like, Ui Kroop, shot from the point. Hovey Kroop. We weren't beaten Colorado, I can say that. When did you know? Probably when it was 8-1.
Starting point is 00:29:17 Although Patrick Law made a save on Melody in game two. Like he dove across and knocked it out of the air, wide open net. I think that was almost the, oh my God. like we can't even score. That's wide open and no one's around. Dying for chance as we finally get one and it still can't go in.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Yeah, that's, they were, they were good, Red. You're right. No shame there. Is that throw away a little bit though? I mean, I know you're saying that I think it is good for the Oilers and their confidence, but I don't know if we need to over-emphasize that Bobrovsky's going to get
Starting point is 00:29:52 rattled by it or that the Panthers are going to be one game. Yeah. I, look, I don't know. Can you keep the Oilers top guns down again? I mean, for one game, of course, you can. But they did a pretty good job through three.
Starting point is 00:30:12 And then it broke open. If there is one team that might be able to pull this off, it might be this one. Or the odds of a series win. Frank's convincing people to go spend right now. He's trying. I don't look. All I'm saying is to go look at this team,
Starting point is 00:30:31 the last three times they've lost three straight. They've only lost three straight three times under Chris Knoblock. They won eight in a row, 16 in a row and five in a row. I don't disagree with you. like they're just that dangerous enough and they have the best player we'll watch in our lives. Like, you just can't write them off till they're dead. That's, that's who they are in my opinion. And I'm not saying they won't die. I'm just saying we've written them off twice already so far. We've written them, we wrote them off in November. We wrote them off again when they were down to the stars. They were down three, two to the Canucks. Like, they've done. They've done. been a hard team to kill.
Starting point is 00:31:03 This is, I mean, and the regular season stuff is great, but there, this Florida teams on another level. And it's a different thing. This is another loss in your season's over. If you, if you, if you, if you win 12 in a row instead of 16 in a row, well, okay, let's just try and win. We've got another game in two nights. Let's try and win that one.
Starting point is 00:31:21 It's, it's a little bit different. And it's the same, yeah, it's the same fall that has been very, very good. Round one, up three nothing versus Tampa. with a chance to clinch, they lose game four, then win it in five. Up 3-1 versus Boston, lose game five, win it in game six. And they did beat the Rangers in their first chance to clinch. So it's, I don't think it makes them weak or anything. It just, it's, it's credit to the Oilers for not going down in four straight.
Starting point is 00:31:51 I still, like I said, I don't think they would have been easy to roll over. Yeah, they could have, but they didn't. And you know what? I don't think Florida is going to be nearly as sloppy off the rush. defending the rush as they were. Could they be? A sloppy. Did you make them extra sloppy for me today?
Starting point is 00:32:09 Come on. I know you. Kids. Yeah, they're plus six hundred in the series, still. We got you for five more. That's not nearly enough. Six to one.
Starting point is 00:32:18 We're talking, this would be the greatest comeback in the sports history. Yeah, but to your point, I don't know that we've ever felt down three one. There's a team that was still alive. Like,
Starting point is 00:32:28 no one felt this way about Montreal when they nearly got swept. But you only got six to one. That's insane. I know, yeah. We've only got you for a few more minutes here before you jet. Your trade targets was kind of looking at the boards that were built today on there. Obviously, Jacob Markstrom.
Starting point is 00:32:43 You've also included Andrew Monjipani on there. I guess just thoughts. Everyone will all know about Markstrom because that feels certainly like the more likely to happen. What is a Madrapani deal as well? How does that come together? What does that look like in your estimation? It's probably a little bit difficult. I mean, he's a guy that.
Starting point is 00:33:03 his pay is not commensurate with his play. Depends on whether the flames want to try and rip the band-aid off now, or do you try and rehab his game, and then all of a sudden he has a better season and you've got a prime trade deadline chip. I would tend to lean more towards the latter that rather than trying to move heaven and earth to get this guy out of here now,
Starting point is 00:33:29 which, I mean, I think the writing's on the wall that this is going to be his last year as a flame, is back, that it's probably the more prudent move to wait because, you know, you never know, like you never know guys that look like they have tough contracts in the summer all of a sudden become valuable commodities when it comes to the deadline. Rock Besser. Think about it. What we thought his contract was too much money two years ago, monster year.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Yeah. And look, there's a long list of those guys. Remember a couple years ago? The Flyers had to pay a second and a seventh to move off of Shane Goss to spare. He had 56 points last year. I mean, and he's put together three consecutive double, double digital seasons from the blue line. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:17 These things happen. So I don't certainly shouldn't be going out of your mind to try and move him. But if there's someone that's interested, they're open to the discussion. That's the point. Sorry, do you want more on the flames? Do you know I had one non-flames one? Go ahead. just a, Marner is very high
Starting point is 00:34:33 in your list, if I'm correct. He's the top dog. Yeah. And so we talked about the other day, like he has all the chips. If he doesn't want to move, he doesn't move, but you have him number one. So you probably believe he does get moved, or how do you weigh the probability of moving versus the,
Starting point is 00:34:45 they'd like to move them, but maybe they can't? Well, the list is always a balance of probability of a move plus a player's impact. And we're talking about, you know, a top 15, top 10 score in the league. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:59 So that's, The impact is significant. Yeah, you're right. He does hold all the cards and he can kick and scream and stamp his feet and say, I don't care, I'm not moving. But I do think the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to put the full court press on to try and make it happen. Whether or not they can pull it off, it remains to be seen which teams are interested and which teams Marner is willing to play ball on.
Starting point is 00:35:25 but I think you have to just make it super simple. Under zero circumstances, are you resigning here? You're not coming back. So whether you decide to do it now or you decide to walk as a free agent next summer, you can either pick your destination now or pick it then, but we don't want you here anymore. And for a guy that's really struggled and is super sensitive and has, you know, every time you get to the playoffs, clenches up,
Starting point is 00:35:54 if you're him do you really want to go through a contract year in a place where a team doesn't want you and a market that all you have to say is we tried like hell to move this guy and he said no I don't know about you guys I don't want any of that smoke
Starting point is 00:36:10 it's an interesting wash for sure 11 days out from the draft 11 days to the spear 11 days out from Pinders Adventure in Vegas that's right that's right All right. Get out of here, Frank. I would say, prep your liver pender, but we know that it's already well prepared.
Starting point is 00:36:29 That thing is in. You are in, uh, trying to think who are some of the most fit guys in the league? Your liver is like, like Marty Jell and a fitness training liver? Oh, yeah. Yeah, it is. Peak performance at all times. You would get a 10 out of 10 on the draft combine. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:45 That's right, buddy. The liver combine. Safe travels, Frankie. Enjoy a game. Uh, no, are you going to Edmonton if there's a six? Oh, yeah. How? All series.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Well, I know you're cheering for the others. See how it goes. Hermann. Appreciate you, Frank. Take care, buddy. There you go. Frank Sarah Valley is brought to you by horse racing, Alberta. Exciting.
Starting point is 00:37:07 Live standard bread racing at Century Downs every Friday at 2.15 p.m. and Saturday at 1245 p.m. For more info, go to thehorses.com. Yeah, I mean, the Manjapani thing. We haven't talked a whole lot about it. It's been a weird one because it's, he's been underwhelming. He makes too much. He makes a lot of money regardless.
Starting point is 00:37:31 Even if he's at his 30 goal pace, five plus million, it's, that's still, it's a good player. But teams got to have room for that kind of, that kind of salary to come in. I just with, there's no cap crunch for the flames. They got nothing but space. You feel like they're going to lose a deal. to get them, you don't need to get them out. I just don't see it. It's, the only thing you would want to do, Dean, is open up spots on the wing
Starting point is 00:38:00 because you have way too many wingers. And let's say you go find a center and Sharon Govich is back to the wing where I think you're going to see the best version of himself. That's even one more wing spot that you need. And I don't think Jacob Pellche is undeniable at this point. Like he had a pretty just okay postseason in my mind at the American League level. you wanted it to be a lot better. But there's a lot of guys they'd love to see on the wings that, you know,
Starting point is 00:38:27 you don't want to see you have fourth line roles. Yeah. Not to the point you'd lose a trade, though, right? But I don't know that you're ever going to win this trade. He makes 5.8. You probably have to eat half. There's nothing that looks like he'll ever get back to flirting with 30. He's scored, what, 20 once his whole career.
Starting point is 00:38:46 It was that one year. Everyone likes the human. But he's gone in a year. and if it's the difference between getting a third now or a second at the deadline, that might even be high. Like, what are we talking about here? You're thinking you could get a third right now? If you retain, you probably could.
Starting point is 00:39:00 With no retention, there's no way you get a third. Well, then that's the thing. You're saying there's... So it's like if he's not even that valuable, fully retained at the deadline, like... To maximize the asset and... Yeah, and so I would say you're weighing the development of younger players in your system versus maximizing an asset that is... Isn't that valuable?
Starting point is 00:39:20 And we'll look at it obviously as we get closer to the next. And again, I don't think if he gets traded, we'll analyze. But are they at that point right now where it's such a glut of wingers? Obviously, Dubay is no longer in that mix. Is it's, are they so stacked that there's going to be a blue chip or a prime prospect that's not going to be playing if they have Mandjapani on the roster? I try to put Coronado in the top nine. It's an interesting exercise.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Okay. because if Sharon Govich goes to the wing that's, and then okay, well, Kuzmanko's a winger for sure, and then you're like, well, Coleman's not going anywhere. Hubertow is not going anywhere. Why are Sharon Gowicz going to the wing? At this point, he's not, right? Well, because they have $20 million in for agency,
Starting point is 00:40:01 and I think they went out of center. He's never been a center until the traded Lint home. He was fine there, but do you want a 17-goal center or a 30-goal wing? I'm exaggerated to make a point. He's going to score a lot more on the wing, and maybe they can't find a center. But, but you don't have the flexibility to put him where I think he's best fit if you have way too many wangers.
Starting point is 00:40:24 Yeah, like try to literally do the lines and try to put cordonaut on the top nine. I don't want to plan on a fourth line with someone like Klapka or, you know, if AJ Greer comes back or whatever. Why do you, why do you hate Klapka? Well, Kla, it's a fourth line guy. Is Coronado undeniable? He has the type of skills and the track record at the American League level that you don't want to see him go get a, minutes a night with grinders, you want to put him with some players that can make some plays. He was an excellent HL or this year.
Starting point is 00:40:55 He was in the HL though. Pardon me? Can't he spend another year or half a year? I mean, I just look at his production. He's ready to graduate. Like if you're a porpo game player in the A, your first year pro, you're ready to go up. You see, he's not 18, 19. Like he played, what, two years of college?
Starting point is 00:41:13 It's time. And, you know, one of the silver linings down the stretch was I thought he played a lot better. Every time he came back from the line is, I'm just saying that I don't know that when I saw him in the flames lineup, it was like, oh my God, I'm drooling. No, but that was my whole point, is that he struggled at the NHL level for the first half of the year pretty significantly.
Starting point is 00:41:33 They got into a spot where they couldn't play him in the top nine, so he may as well put him in the A. He played a lot of games in the A. He was very good, just looking year over year over year. That last season was the biggest jump I've ever have in his life, going college to the NHL, no stop in the middle. And so I'm expecting, that he will be a guy that's worthy of top nine minutes,
Starting point is 00:41:51 and you'd want to give him skill to work with. A lot of assuming here by all of us. Right, but again, those nine wingers, or the six wingers, the top nine forwards, like which one of those guys, if Coronado is better than in camp, can you play on the fourth line? With his magic panty,
Starting point is 00:42:08 it's going to be like, well, what asset are you trading now? You're literally hurting his value if he's a fourth liner. Pospiciles are in the top nine minutes. Pospicil would be the guy, right? For the fourth? Yeah. he would out of that group he'd be the only one.
Starting point is 00:42:21 Cole, I mean, Coleman, probably not. Hubert O is, that's not. And so if you put those up again, Jack, now let's say Jacob Peltier has a really good camp. Like,
Starting point is 00:42:31 there's just a lot of wingers, that's all. It's not like, oh my gosh, this is a huge problem, but no, you would open up room to see a young player like he did for Zarian Pospisososil
Starting point is 00:42:40 last year if you move manjapenia. And that might have some value beyond, maybe not maximizing the value of a guy that's not that value. Can you put those up again, Jack? the old lines there he's grabbing he's grabbing he's grabbing them like i don't want to see cornetto with the roon dog in clapka sorry i know but you don't have this is not set in stone this lineup why can't sharon govich be the like this team's not that good that sharon govich can't play
Starting point is 00:43:09 center and you can roll four long you know what i mean like why do you need a dedicated fourth line. If Coronado's playing with Sharon Govich on the whatever line you want to freaking call it, why not? And take Klappka out and put Peltje there. Yeah. Right? Like you can you can you can have a different
Starting point is 00:43:28 lineup than other teams. You don't have to have a okay well our fourth line is just a bunch of muck. It doesn't have to be set up that way. I agree. Yeah. And you know what? Zeri down the middle at the end was a nice little development. You wondered
Starting point is 00:43:44 can he play the middle? The playmaking and creativity has always been there. You wondered about his size and the face off thought. If he's a center, that that's interesting. You know what's interesting is looking now that we were basically at the tail end of the playoffs and we have watched all these teams and all these series, that is not a very threatening forward crew, is it? Of course not.
Starting point is 00:44:07 It looks like a bunch of third lines, right? Exactly. Maybe you could piece together a good second line there. Like you could put one line that's like, okay, those are better wingers than what drysidal had. But like, that's it. There's no top end guys. That's why this club is where it is. And it's why it's crucial that they worry about the future.
Starting point is 00:44:27 And that means hitting at the draft. That means getting another top 15 pick if they can. That means don't be silly and blow your brains out with 20 million bucks of calf space thinking you can get in the playoffs. Don't hang on to Markstrom when he's in his mid 30s and his two years left. Like they need game breakers. They have none. The Marshall thing is going to be. They don't have a single all-star, right?
Starting point is 00:44:50 There's just not a lot there. Yeah, they feel a long ways away. The guys that are going to win with this group, they haven't drafted yet. Yeah, it's a lot of work, Craig, Jerome. We'll see. And, yeah, as soon as I think as soon as this cup gets handed out and then, bang, we're headed towards the draft and the trade talk and everything is going to
Starting point is 00:45:15 is going to wrap up. sure feels. Like I'll, I will be pretty stunned if Markstrom's aflame at the end of draft weekend. I would agree. I hope you're right. And I think that's just makes sense for everyone involved. It would be a really tough sell for me, for someone to come out and say,
Starting point is 00:45:40 Markstrom starting the season in Calgary. And here's why it's a good idea. Like, I just don't think there's good answers to that. Because if Markstrom doesn't want to be here, it feels like to maximize your so you're got to trade him. You're going to trade him right now. You're going to trade them this off season.
Starting point is 00:45:54 The time to do it is now. Well, the draft, yeah, you don't, don't wait until after the draft. Then the kid your pick is a year younger. He's another year away. Unless you forecast that the team he's going to is going to be, have a shit year next year and it's going to be a high pick.
Starting point is 00:46:07 I just don't see it. Again, the New Jersey thing. New Jersey's a good team. They have, they just do it. Call your buddy. Yeah, I, I'm expecting that there's probably a few trades that are almost finalized that are just kind of, well, let's wait till this
Starting point is 00:46:24 playoff stuff's over. I don't know why. So let's say you're trying to get 10 from New Jersey and for Markstrom. We've talked about it. The fit was there at the deadline. It probably still is a fit. You know, we've heard the general manager talk about open to moving 10. Flames clearly don't fit Markstrom's win or to win.
Starting point is 00:46:44 We understand the reasons why it'd be great. What if they say Markstrom for 10, we need more? would you throw in a half retained manjapani to just close it out? Are you too worried about, well, we might be able to get more in February for this guy? Or does New Jersey even want a half retained manjury? I can't imagine that. Again, who knows? You need to go and look at their roster.
Starting point is 00:47:01 And we can do that. And I don't know that that would be the guy they'd be targeting. Anyway, you do whatever it takes. If you can get the 10th overall pick and. Agreed. Because I do. I think you have to, I think a Martian Beal has to happen, partially because he wants out.
Starting point is 00:47:16 yeah Conroy's going to know the market like even if Markstrom's only given four or five teams he's going to know what the options are and if the 10th pick with Jersey is the best option well that sounds like a great option to be honest exactly like that's what I said when this was being discussed three four weeks ago like who's not liking it like are we thinking that Markstrom's worth more or is Jersey going to get's worth more it feels close doesn't it does because that would be the other thing too if you're Taftish Gerald in New Jersey and you feel like Markham has told the flames, get a deal done. I'm going somewhere else to start next season. That's a bit of you've got a bit of leverage there
Starting point is 00:48:02 if you're the devils all of a sudden. Not a ton. You still need the goalie. You need them badly, I think. Yeah. But it does give you a little bit of extra play in terms of of negotiations, I would think. They also, they have to win. Like, they were a top five
Starting point is 00:48:18 Vegas sports book odds to win the cup this year and they missed. It was a disaster of a year. Coach has been changed, pressures on. Throw that back up, Jack. Sorry. So just for if we know we're madjapani, we think where he fits in a top nine. Yeah, he's a third liner on this team.
Starting point is 00:48:34 You play him with a lot and no second. I like that. Like, maybe. I don't know what, I don't know anything about Shane Bowers and Nolan Foote. Like, those are young guys. Are those guys that they want, much like a Coronado.
Starting point is 00:48:46 They're clamoring to get those guys ice time and then Madjapani's holding those guys back. I don't know. But he's not getting ahead of anybody else. Yeah. No, I think he's there for, that's all you're doing. Just signed him.
Starting point is 00:49:00 Tough guy. So yeah, I, I'm excited for it, though. I'm here for it. See what happens. I'm going to get a trade, boys. Let's do it. Yeah, I get a trade call. Stop talking about the stinking oilers for a while.
Starting point is 00:49:15 That'd be great. It would be a nice change that for sure. I'm ready for that. Man. Talking about how they're back into it and maybe there's a chance. Oh, great. Let's do the Pinder report. It was a prestation.
Starting point is 00:49:33 Village Honda. Hey, save the date. Oh, save the date. August 24th. It's a long ways away. Boom. What are you talking about? You know how summer.
Starting point is 00:49:41 We're halfway through June. Summers are busy. Save the date. August 24th. the fourth annual Honda and Acura show and shine at Village Honda. Event gets bigger and better every year. They've got the award set up for best
Starting point is 00:49:55 in show, best in modified. Best Classic and new for this year is the People's Choice Award. You got a vehicle, maybe you're a vendor. You want to be part of this deal. Go to villagehonda.com. You can register online now at their website. And in addition to that, they're your dealership for life
Starting point is 00:50:11 and present. Ryan Pinda. Ryan Pinda. The Pinda Report. Well, as you start with Flames. Gosh, there's so much Flames news and really nothing else happening in the hockey world. So over on Flames Nation, the question was asked, Rhett, what should the flames do with their $20.9 million of cap space this offseason? Oh, by the way, that total is before they theoretically moved to any of $6 million of Markstrom's contract. Spend it. Just like when you were young and your dad gave you a 20? Just blow it in your wallet.
Starting point is 00:50:46 So, Rhett, what should they do with their 20.9 million? put it in a GIC and I like this idea just let it grow you know what I might do is I might go to all the GMs and say hey who's got a really shady contract for just a year or two I'll take it off your hands have to take it off your hands last year that guy how about give us number 26 we'll take this guy for a year look at all this caps meet you're going to be swimming in it enjoy courtesy the flames cap a little tight You got a tight cap over there? You would like to see that being the move, right? Weaponize it? That's, what did he call it? Cap management or whatever, asset management? Like, that would be really well done.
Starting point is 00:51:35 That's what the coyotes did too. They're cheap as hell. And they'd say, okay, we'll take some LTIR money, some bad money. Well, you're going to have to give us lots of seconds, lots of picks. Cheap as what? Chips. Chips, Dean. But cap space, not, I don't know how inexpensive it's going to be.
Starting point is 00:51:49 You must pay a fee here, Dean. We're going to need some high-end talent and or picks from you if we're going to take this bad contract off. Yeah, I don't see. Yeah, I'm with you. Maybe. You know what? July 1st, Craig, go to the lake. Go swimming.
Starting point is 00:52:04 There is one little bit of business that I'd like them to get done that we haven't really talked about enough. July 1, though? Well, I mean, it hasn't happened yet, but all the shipping needs to deal. Let's go. We talk about $20.9 million. You're going to have to sauce them off for Shillington. I'm hoping rather than watch them walk, right? Water wings.
Starting point is 00:52:21 Go ahead, get that done. Put it on your water wings. Go enjoy yourself. I know you're a Yankee doodle dandy, so you'll be doing that July 4th for sure. It's going to the finger legs, yeah. You know, there's nothing wrong with a July 7, 10, 12. Take some time, Craig.
Starting point is 00:52:38 Yeah. Take some time. Meanwhile, up the QE2 and the cultural capital fellas. A bit of a change in attitudes. Who we got? Yeah. That's kind of how it is, isn't it? So you're telling me there's a chance.
Starting point is 00:52:59 Yeah. Don't like it. Jack did some investigative journalism on the weekend. What, Jack? He was over in Europe, I think, taking photos of celebrities. That's Alex Ovechkin playing pickleball, wearing a chess protector under his shirt. Now, remember, you, you, you, flipped out when we talked earlier about John Bouchagros saying, hey, you know what?
Starting point is 00:53:34 Ovi, get yourself into great shape this off season. Come back and take, just go on a tear to get this record done. And you said, I think, oh, you, you were unabashed. You called Bucciagross an asshole. You said it was terrible. You had all kinds of things to say about it. You're the worst agent I've ever had, Dean. I do wonder if maybe John Bucigross, who you decided.
Starting point is 00:53:57 spies maybe was on to something. Why do you hate me? He was on an absolute heater down the stretch. And he's never been lean. But Jack, you can, do you AI in this? You just sewering guys careers, Jack? What do you know? I found it on Twitter.
Starting point is 00:54:20 So that's the thing. Did somebody go to work on this? Is there, are we going to see another photo come up today? Hey, let me look at this guy. It's a bad angle. they put boomer in a t-shirt and over his head on them. That's not right. You guys ever watched a series where a team gets way up and you're like,
Starting point is 00:54:41 this thing's over and then it's like, okay, we've got to wait a little longer. I feel like we have. Oh, there's two of them actually. I saw this, but Jack was noting that we got a game five in the NBA too. Oh, way to go Mavs. Good job, Dallas. What a stave.
Starting point is 00:54:57 Good staving. Mavs and Oilers. United together. Lockstep. Some solid staving. And it was a shit pump too, right? Apparently, Jack said they won by 40 or something? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:07 You're like 40 something. Do your own thing, NBA. Do your own shit. I guess it was the NHL probably because they could have it in the first. Anyway, whatever. US Open was pretty damn good. One of the four golf majors,
Starting point is 00:55:22 Red did not disappoint with Roy McElroy, passing Bryson Deschambo on the final 18. only to give it right back at the end. And Bryson having to pull rabbits out of his hat all afternoon, trying to hit the ball a million yards and always finding himself in trouble. Incredible finish. Bryson wins.
Starting point is 00:55:41 The formerly considered a DB, suddenly a nice guy. Oh, look at him. He showed earlier. This is 90 minutes after he won. Still signing autographs. It's pretty cool. He was asked on the podium and look, he's a smart guy. What's good PR?
Starting point is 00:55:58 what's his actual thought on stuff? I don't know. He said what they asked him, but what makes him happy? What he's trying to accomplish his career? He said, grow the game of golf. That grows the game of golf. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:56:07 Go sign autographs for the rest of time. Bring the trophy through the fans, rather than these herded areas where you can't get closed. No, no, we're going in. Everyone touched this. Mm-hmm. All right. It is fun when two stars are at the top of the leaderboard and kind of battling it out.
Starting point is 00:56:20 Like, I haven't watched a lot of golf this year, but I was, every, I was watching Macra and DeCampo go back. I'm like, you get some excitement, watching those shots. You get a little nervous. You're like, whoa, oh, he missed. Oh, my God. And like the sand shot that Bryson wins it with is incredible.
Starting point is 00:56:40 Greasy, greasy, greasy and just three feet. Totally expecting extra holes at that. Yeah, 100% of that. That wasn't the only important development from the U.S. Open. The Olympics are really soon here, fellas. I think in the next month we're going to be playing the anthems to do and all that stuff. Your S Olympic trials were on the TV last night. There you go.
Starting point is 00:56:58 apparently the U.S. swimming trials are in like the football stadium in Houston. How does that work? No, it's indie. Is it indie where it is? Oh, yeah, Lucaso. You're right. Yeah, okay. But in a football stadium.
Starting point is 00:57:08 Don't know that I've seen that before. Is it built a pool? Amazing. Is it a see-through? Can you see in the science? What are they doing? I don't know. It's like,
Starting point is 00:57:14 it's crazy what they did. They built this friggin pool in the dome. Yeah. And then built the whole infrastructure around. It's crazy. For swimming. Can we use some of that water here, by the way? Got no pools?
Starting point is 00:57:27 What do you do? Where are you draining that pool? Can you bring that to Calgary? Yeah, some gray water, ship it up here. The Canadian story is important from golf because the top two guys by world golf rankings will represent Canada of the Olympics. And it was incredibly tight. In fact, Corey Connors finishes, I believe, T9. Look at the narrow margin.
Starting point is 00:57:47 He is one spot higher in the world rankings to get past Adam Hadwin. And we're talking like the decibel points are crazy, how close it was for Hadwin going to the Olympics versus Connors. It will be Nick Taylor. who isn't much far ahead of Connors and Hadwood, and Connors going to Paris. Cool. Go Canada. Oh, Canada. Calvary FC was in Colona on the weekend.
Starting point is 00:58:11 A monster crowd of 6,200 plus soccer fans in Colonna. No, it doesn't look like that because this is from the stands that you can't see, but I see. The largest ever attendance for pro sports at the Apple Bowl, which is a football slash soccer facility and track in Colonna. Don't be surprised if there's an expansion team that. No, that's if you trust Charlie O'Connor Clark there. And I do.
Starting point is 00:58:35 And I do. It's good work reporting. C OCC. Old Cock. Mm. Getting the stories. Getting it done for you. Thank you, Cock.
Starting point is 00:58:47 Surge in action on the weekend. Not go well Friday and a really much better performance yesterday. So they had the dub. And pal of the show, Derek Newman, on Father's Day. traded to the game by his young chaps. Love to see this, hey? That's the F-True. Love those guys.
Starting point is 00:59:04 Good stuff. Okay. They won 8876. Leave that, gets him to three and five on the season. Stampeders in action on the weekend, but more importantly, a sold-out BC place to see that rapper, the, you know, with the, he's really popular.
Starting point is 00:59:23 Oh, here's Mark Stevens. He's got it for us. 50 cents hits the stage in Vancouver's BC Place hashtag rapper. That's awesome. Look at the crowd. 50 cents. Apparently half the crowd left after the concert during like, because it was right before the game.
Starting point is 00:59:44 It was a big. But they still got to keep all the money from the tickets. They didn't have to give halfback. Yeah. So the lines are provoked. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:50 Yeah. I'd like my half refund. Big crowd. Was it 53K? Ooh. Dean, what do you say? I'm not helping yet. Not helping you.
Starting point is 01:00:04 What are you talking about? No, yeah, you go ahead. It's getting really, really, really contentious at the Euros in Germany, Rhett. Because you have these countries, they're all right there. They'll travel to see their teams play, but they'll run into other fan bases in the city. So Albania and Italy were set to clash on the weekend. Look at this aggressive behavior from the Albanians. The Albanians and the Red.
Starting point is 01:00:31 Runs in the blue. And the Albanian, what do they got? What's going on here? You're saying, what are you doing? No, they're going to stop the spaghetti. Don't you dare. Oh! How could you do it?
Starting point is 01:00:45 That's good. It's hooligans, man. And the Albanians jumped out to an early lead. Did they? You know what that is? That's just, that's good-natured fun right there. Some good ribbon. That's some harmless ribbon.
Starting point is 01:01:00 You know what that is? That's still early in the day. That's probably true. They haven't gotten too deep yet. This looks early in the day for this chap. I wonder how the rest of it went because he was pumping people up early. Oh, hang on.
Starting point is 01:01:21 This is going to be a disaster. Is it? Yeah. Let me go check the numbers. We'll see if this makes sense. Brought to you by Village Honda. New Insta. They stop reading.
Starting point is 01:01:33 In stock inventory on the ground. Start your automotive adventures at Village Honda. a new vehicle pricing is always MSRP. So that's fine. Jack can stay with this. Now, this, I need to ask you this AI, because there's these guys, they've got some work to do across in the street,
Starting point is 01:01:46 and there's a little bit traffic. It's tough. Okay, here we go. Brage? Yeah, not happy. Staged or real? Staged? Staged.
Starting point is 01:02:04 Yep. Next, this is not staged. This guy is a riot. Let's go. Hull. Go. What's you going to do, Hulk? When the Hawksder, the entire country of Canada, the Niagara Falls Comic-Con, and the 24-centimeter pythons run wild on you, Jack.
Starting point is 01:02:26 Let me tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go in, I'm gonna be the cream of the crop. I'm gonna want to choke the mania, do his grandstanding, and his hot doggin, and with the macho man, Randy Savage, is the cream of the crop. Oh, yeah, dig it! Oh, fuck it, hey. Oh, fuck it, yeah. The megapower to explode. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:57 You had to wait for it, but it was worth it, right? It's the mega powers. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, how could you? Yeah. A lot of power there. Okay, got some bear content for you. Can we just hang on a sec?
Starting point is 01:03:09 Can we just hang on a hall? The micke halls common? Can you? Jack, when you said, this is going to be a effing disaster. What were you Like should we take them behind the curtain? No, 20 minutes before, no.
Starting point is 01:03:20 No, we're good. Could you? No. Come on. You're, nope. You haven't earned it, Dean. Come on.
Starting point is 01:03:26 What are you talking about? What are you talking about them? Come on. What's going on? Bears. We need some bears. I don't know if we showed this before or not, but I definitely have seen it many times.
Starting point is 01:03:45 Stay dead still. Good climbers, say, Dean? Those bears? Excuse me. Oh, sorry, guys. Pardon me. I just on my way down here. They're in the tree stand looking for what deer,
Starting point is 01:04:32 red? Is that what we're doing? Is that Z? Is that we're doing? No, some O hunting up there? No. Could be weems. I dreamt about being bears being around.
Starting point is 01:04:44 Did you have bears on the show last week? Yeah, we had a lot of bears last week. Okay, that's why. It's this great influence that the Pender Report has. You can affect your dreams. So, crocodiles, bears, kangaroos with collars. haven't earned it um again what exactly so was it the the preparation of the pender report is it the list is it the numbering system is i may have been on a rather urgent phone call for 98 minutes
Starting point is 01:05:09 this morning as i was trying to prep the pin report and the only thing i couldn't do was scroll through my phone through the dumb ass that collects an instagram to send to jack because you were on the phone yeah yeah and i would want to be able to hear the audio and couldn't do that because i was on the phone Okay. So what was the end result? How did it come together? Well, Jack did some helping and we were glad that Dean shows up at 10.15 for the show, not 10. Thank you. Come on. Golf brawl. Let's check it out. Love a good golf brawl. This is like that scene. Oh, wow. Good left there. Jeez.
Starting point is 01:05:49 Look at this shit. And took another one. Stay down, dude. Holy shit. It's pretty legit. Look at this. They're beating them down. Guys got a shirt over his head. Gentlemen's gave my ass, Dean.
Starting point is 01:06:04 That's the Pinder family reunion there. This is actually, uh, oh, I'll tell you, dude in the white with the lefts. Yeah. No one keeps looking for, no one's looking for left on him. Stay away from that guy. Oof.
Starting point is 01:06:19 Wow. Yeah. Cut is having fun with those lefts. Yeah. That likes the fights guy. finally had his day on the sun. He is likes to fight guy. For sure.
Starting point is 01:06:32 Yes. What did you get for Father's Day, guys? Sox or socks? Sox and a coffee mug. Yeah. I got a travel coffee cup with pictures of the one kid. Oh, yeah. Pretty cool.
Starting point is 01:06:48 Nice. And socks. But some dads out there got like moors. How legit's this? Oh, dad, dad, dad. Not ideal. I'd say it's staged, but that's that more looks expensive. Yeah, I don't think that's staged.
Starting point is 01:07:14 That's just stupid. Yeah. That's dumb. Yeah. That's intoxication. Could be. You hit the dark going. Dirk.
Starting point is 01:07:25 This can work in Paris. Darts and the bruise. We got a bike clip for you here. What do we got? Oh, yeah. We saw you this last week. No. I had two of them that were similar.
Starting point is 01:07:38 So into the bowl, we go. Oh. Totally fine. What? You're worried, rat? How lucky are you? Look at that. Oh, that's what he meant to do.
Starting point is 01:07:52 How are you not skewered? Totally fine. Just threads the needle. Oh, my, lowered. What was he attempting to do? I clear the fence. Yeah, he's got... Risk reward.
Starting point is 01:08:05 Yeah. Still got gators in Florida. They haven't exterminated them yet, rat. still a few hanging around. We found one here. Oh, my God. Right.
Starting point is 01:08:18 Oh. Ah. That noise. It's more disturbing than I ever realized until we did all this exhaustive gator research over the last few months, guys. If I'd have had my phone, I would have been able to contribute to the Pinda Report. I was going to the gym this morning. Snake.
Starting point is 01:08:43 Really? Snake on the sidewalk. Pissed myself. What would you send us? The piss or the snake? Sample and a picture of the... Nice. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:56 I think this guy's ride might be toast. See. So we were riding a ride. This isn't supposed to be upside down like this. It's been like that for like already two to three minutes. Oh. I feel bad for them because all the power is on a crew right now. It's scary.
Starting point is 01:09:17 All right, update. They're still up there. No. It's been about five minutes, maybe a little bit more. And they've just been hanging up there this whole time. Oh, we just asked the lady at the bottom of the Ferris wheel if this has ever happened before and she said no and she said she's actually concerned for them. Oh, they just said the park is closed. Well, no shit.
Starting point is 01:09:44 jeez. Geez. They just said. Vacate the park immediately. Except for you folks. You're screwed. Yeah, like I was going to say. Can they leave the park,
Starting point is 01:09:57 please? Alive? That doesn't look good. Man. No. Well, I guess let's go on another different ride. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:10:05 their maintenance seems to be just fine. That's actually a great point, Dean. I'm done with shithead. Midways incorporated today when that thing stuck upside down. I'm done with rides for the day.
Starting point is 01:10:22 How many days till the stampede? Well, I don't think there's. Is there going to be one? That's your Pinda Report. We can't talk about that anymore. Is that right? All right. Once again, save the date. Coming up, August 24th, the fourth annual Honda and Accura show and shine up at Village Honda in the Northwest Auto Mall. Register now online, villagehonda.com.
Starting point is 01:10:42 that's got to be here before you know it. Before you know it. Someone else just getting texts from random numbers that are like area codes you've never even been to once in your life. Hey. Yeah, you know, it's a lot of people offering to help me find a job. Yeah, I saw that too. Yeah, there's a lot of very caring and helpful individuals out there. Really great.
Starting point is 01:11:09 Yeah, really great. Don't you all hasn't panned out for you. No, no, no, no, no, because they know that this is. the job. Many hands will make light work. It's just a matter of time, Dean. I guess so. Wendy's, Wendys. Frozen pox are awesome when they're in the back of the other guy's net. That doesn't mean you want to eat one. Wouldn't want to do it. Not going to do it. That's why Wendy's only ever uses fresh Canadian beef that's never seen the inside of a freezer in all of their burgers. Maybe it's the Baconator, maybe it's the Dave single, even a junior bacon cheese. You'll only ever
Starting point is 01:11:43 find real fresh beef that's real juicy. I'm loaded with fresh toppings. Download for yourself, the Wendy's app. Check out the latest deals. Order a burger that's only job is being delicious. Wendy's. She knows how to make a burger. She really does.
Starting point is 01:12:01 Chicken sandwich she does nails too. I'm telling you. And the thing of it is, get people what, little tomato, little lettuce, some mayho, spicy chicken. done. I don't get all fancy on me.
Starting point is 01:12:19 Oh, do you need, what kind of a barrioche this? No, no, just give me the sandwich. All right, done. Wendy's. Oh, she's a hell of a gal. Hell of a gal. We're going to have to talk about the Oilers again tomorrow. Because it's the games tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:12:44 Yeah, I was hoping that was tonight. Yeah. Would have been good if it was tonight and if they could have lost. Then you could just talk about the Panthers. I guess we can't talk about those panthers. We can't take those days off we discussed. Don't you have any, who can we get to your buddy Jovo or something for the more?
Starting point is 01:13:03 Oh, yeah, Joevo loved come on. Games down there, you know. Great time to check in. Billy Lindsay? Take either. Big Pete Worell was with Rob Ray and Eric Bolt this morning. They were both talking about Big Pete Worel, how is it possible to fight.
Starting point is 01:13:21 God, he's a monster. So big, big man. Yeah. Yeah. His name came up twice this weekend. Really? Peter Worrell. Friday night went for dinner with Peter Radchuk.
Starting point is 01:13:33 First round pick out of bowling green to the Colorado Avalanche, got traded the Florida Panthers, now works with Winnipeg Jets. There's a lot there. Kids play hockey together, so went for supper with him and his wife. He brought up Peter Worrell, hadn't seen him forever, so I'm a week or so ago. And then this morning, Ray and Eric Bolton. You got to have him up against the wall. Because then he can't use his reach as much. You can't string you out.
Starting point is 01:13:59 Is that what it is? Yeah. It didn't make sense to me. Yeah, I don't know how that works. They're way better at it than I. Yeah. You can sound easy. I don't know about that.
Starting point is 01:14:09 Whatever you say. Yeah, I don't want any part of any of them. Bolton, Ray and Whorell. Yeah. That is not a fun six-man tag team. No chance. What if you have the macho man and Hulk? No, I'm diving over the, over the boards.
Starting point is 01:14:25 I'm out. tapping tapping, see you later. No chance. So yeah, with a tomorrow I bet you know,
Starting point is 01:14:35 maybe get on your personal device there and reach out. It'd be great. I can't promise anything, Dean. I'm very busy. Yeah, I believe him about the can't promise anything part. There is that, yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:50 I don't know if he's busy. Yeah. Where is that? Yeah, super duper. Because the game's like it could be a big day for, uh, in Florida Panthers history. You figure? Could be. Figure figure?
Starting point is 01:15:06 Figure. I mean, what a day it would be to talk to somebody. That doesn't play or work for the Florida Panthers. Uh, other than you, uh, then, uh, you know, so it's who would be the guy to go live on the scene, too, for the, uh, theoretical parade if there was one. Because there's certain guys in certain elements that you'd want and other guys, Maybe we better suited over here on the business side. Someone had to report on the old parade. Who would you want?
Starting point is 01:15:36 Someone to report? Like if we were going to get someone on the show, talking about a sloppy at God, Miami. Oh, I think there's a lot of people you'd like to talk to and have on video. They aren't hockey players. Randy Mueller? Yes.
Starting point is 01:15:55 Goldstein. Isn't that his name? Goldie would be busy, though. I mean, he's actually a media member who's doing stuff. Um, well, anyway, I mean, I guess not. Why? Why? How the hell can I know what Jovanoski's got going on?
Starting point is 01:16:15 Maybe he's got to ask him. He said, Hey, Joe, we got a show to more around this time. Do you want to pop on for 20 minutes? Love to have it. But you're acting all pissy because I don't have an answer. They've just brought it up. I don't know. I'm just throwing it out there if you think that's a, I said I can't promise anything.
Starting point is 01:16:28 That's, I feel like, do you like the idea, though? Do you like decent enough answer? I mean, it's better than talking to you two alone. I know, I'd say. Well, and if I can only get a word. and edgewise with you're at i mean it's tough you're just jabbering away over there there i don't know how we'll get two of us on here then yeah that's right you know what let's just not let's exactly yeah you want talk panthers yeah got all that's why yeah no that's why that's why i'm like
Starting point is 01:16:57 who else can we get on as well to talk about the panthers uh uh well you know what we'll see how it goes hold my breath and we'll see how it goes. Betway? Look at that guy. Can we get him on the show? He's still down and out after the story's lost. He's so excited. Oh, he might be a Mavericks guy, right?
Starting point is 01:17:20 But the MAVs are back, baby. Pumped, hey? 40 something. He's doing, you're saying there's a chance. Hey, get yourself into the app store, whatever it is there. Get yourself, Betway, create your new account. scan the QR code on the screen, redeem your bonus.
Starting point is 01:17:36 And how this works, if you put it in, just place a bet. No minimum amount required. If the bet loses, you'll get a refund back up to 200 bucks and then use that again to bet on your favorite sports. Only available this offer outside of Ontario. Oh. Big series for the Jays. They are within a game of 500 again. All previous games that can get back to 500, they have fallen into the abyss.
Starting point is 01:18:02 We're to take the under on the Kikuchi strikes. he has not reached seven strikeouts in his last five starts. Not seeing it tonight. Also, Bobrovsky was minus 400 before a single game went sideways on him. He's now only minus 112 for the con smith. The con Smith. There's a E at the end.
Starting point is 01:18:21 Yeah, there is. It's a, Jack Hughes the Invisible Inc. There it is minus 112. The Ryan Smith. So did, who is? That's a good question.
Starting point is 01:18:34 He did that. I think I know how to spell Con Smyth, but I was again on phone. 90 minutes while I was typing. Is that right? Haven't earned it. Nope. You haven't earned it.
Starting point is 01:18:46 No. Oh, Ryan fucked it. Yeah. Screwed up. Yeah. Damn it. That makes it like 112 to 4 now with the spelling mistakes. Jack.
Starting point is 01:18:55 Not dead yet. Listen to Jackie's so happy. He's very happy. He's very happy. And you know what? If one of these bets, you'd be happy to. It's Betway. The official gaming partner of Barn,
Starting point is 01:19:08 Burner, Flames Nation, join the action. There it is, your QR code to get that. A little bonus if your first bet does not come through. They're going to slide some credits back into your account there. Only available outside of Ontario, that way. Betway. Bet the responsible way with Betway. Yeah, that way.
Starting point is 01:19:29 All right. Get some sun, Rhett. What's the water situation? Three to five weeks, no good. Three to five, pardon me. Weeks. Yeah. Which we made reference to Stampede could be a huge issue.
Starting point is 01:19:45 Because when the city says three to five weeks, it probably means it's five to seven weeks. I read this morning that the pipe, for those don't know, issues with the running water in Calgary. There was a explosion. Yeah. Like a water, water main. You're like, okay, so what? turn the, turn the, that grocery story, whatever had to turn the water off. No, it's like neighborhoods.
Starting point is 01:20:11 And now it's the city. Yeah. Basically. And there's a lot of water. We're going to have a real thing here because then they stick, they keep, they keep, maybe we should look at some of the other pipes, eh? Well, we got some issues here too. That's like a, oh, wait.
Starting point is 01:20:22 Just hold on a sec. This, this one doesn't look very good either. We're going to have to, we're going to have to dig in there. This looks like it could be a big job. Well, you know what? We're already down here. We've got the bike lanes. So that's good.
Starting point is 01:20:36 you can't trade bike lanes for pipes as long as we but it looked I think I saw this morning I think the rinks a little more expensive than the bike lanes like 10th 20 fold 100 fold how much time and effort
Starting point is 01:20:51 have they been putting into the bike lane so over the last few years more than the water pipes to be fair yeah sorry Dean you're saying San Diego freaking nancy this replacement pipe has been found in San Diego
Starting point is 01:21:06 Oh, good. And they're going to wheel it up here. They're playing hardball, though. It's like trading Markstrom right now. Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm not sure. What if we need it? San Diego wants number nine overall.
