Yeah, see, the thing, because again, depending when you're listening to it, there might be tomorrow today. Okay, so it's Tuesday. Yesterday I said that today I wouldn't be here. What I meant to say was that I had it written down a wrong day in my calendar. So I was, oh, Camia and I, who do we? play tomorrow and what's the format is it nine holes or 18 because i need to know if i can be on time to pick up my kids and then oh shit we tee off in 40 minutes i've missed the schmoozy lunch

damn it oh so like fly home rip open the garage clubs golf shoes shirt land speed record on elbow drive did you make it out there wow time to house a burger and get a beer too i went down the hall and uh came back gone and jacks is pender is on his phone and he's like i got oh shit i got to get out of here it's today i look at it's tuesday i've written out right here yeah look at you golf yeah and you were ready to golf in that event today it's the golf's fault i you know what it worked out great worked out great yeah the timing worked out to oh yeah what mondays their date off. So it's perfect. She had the kids. And then I went right from the golf to kid pick up

from baseball. How about it? Perfect. Great weather too. Hot. So it was a hot one yesterday. Beautiful. So media people golfing. So exciting. No. Well, I mean, it's nice for us, but there were no galleries. People were not parking

on the street and walking in to watch us. Yeah. Did you play well? It was an interesting format. Alternate shot. So if I hit a shot, whether it's good or bad, Cammy would then have to hit it from there. And if hers was good or bad,

I would have to hit it from wherever that one lay. And so we went, uh, lost the hole, lost the hole, lost the whole, lost the whole push, lost the whole, lost the hole, lost the hole. So we'd lost six of the first eight holes. And at that point, it was just like, well, it's a nice day and we're on a golf cart. Right. Is that when the term Dormy starts to kind of,

Dormy would be on the back nine somewhere. Yeah. And we switched to the scramble format on the back. We were excellent. I think we squared off eight of the nine holes. So they hardly got us on the back. Not for some great puts by this jerk cam. It's actually a nice guy from Australia that does the camera work for global.

But either way, yeah, we probably would have won the back. So we just needed the scramble format sooner. Well, I'm glad that you, I'm glad you made it. Yes. Did you do us proud? No puking or? No, good behavior. And Cammy was there and she's the responsible one.

That's right. It's like you have a daughter. I have like Cammy's like the younger sister. So I was all my best behavior around. Sure. Younger sister. Good stuff. I actually have some video from it too.

I mean, we've seen better comebacks than that. We got a rate where we want them. The galleries are building here on Media Day. A lot of people paying attention. And that's often the reaction to our game as well. I'd walk away too. Well, there's good news and there's bad news. Cammy and I have been dominating the back.

We pushed every single hole. We've got to be close to par. Look at all these pushes. The problem was is they won six of the nine holes in the front. We won zero. So sadly, Cammy, We're beyond Dormy, which means there's not enough holes left to win for us to win the match. I wonder whose fault that was.

Is that what it was? No, it was a team game. we were the black hats against the white hats. And so there was many of these matches, I think six or eight matches in total. And we needed to go to a put off because it was tied at the very end. And then Marty Rose, who must have been as high as a kite, like a 200 foot putt. Right.

Well, that's good. Got some cheers. I bet he would. I bet he would. It's the greatest moment of his life. Yeah, he's good. An athlete. Well, nice.

You know, how about it? There you go. So, Cammy, uh, is she a golfer? She is learning. she was really, really good off the tea. Her putting was rock solid. And the iron play, she was nervous. She didn't like the iron.

She didn't want to grab an iron. She's like, why don't I go to this back tee box? I can hit a wood. I'm like, okay, you really don't like the irons. But, hey, we had a great time. And, you know, event is in August. We can't wait. Some of the best golfers in the world.

Come to Canyon Meadows every year. Of course, it used to be called Shotcher and Classic Rogers bought them. But more than anything, this event doesn't just bring the great golfers, but it raises huge amounts of money that all stay in charities focused on children in southern Alberta. Were you sad? I wasn't there. No, were you sad you weren't there? Were you a little bit jelly?

Because we could have got you out of cards. Not jelly. Because you don't have to be in my group. You could be there all day and not see me. It's probably okay. It is Friday, August 16th to Sunday, August 18th, the tournament this year. This is the year I'm going to be good at golf. So I probably heard that.

I start finding my clothes. It is a sport that requires a lot of repetition and practice. So if it is your year, got to get going. Okay, good to know. So you went golfing yesterday. Jack went to see Creed last night. I don't think it was. Is that right?

He's a good boy. Yeah, goals in three straight. He is also the oldest player in Cup final history. He just score in the first three games of the series. It's like on that one, Cory Perry. Yeah, there you go. Or is one of the oldest. I mean, shoot.

Retired, I don't know. You get a result or a final? Of the game last night? So the first. There's a lot of power plays to the Oilers. I was getting tense. And there's a lot of power plates for, Florida. Yeah, penalty

filled. There was a lot of talk about the penalties and referees and this sort of thing. I got to find this chart that shows how they call penalties in the playoffs. It's like game one, game two, game three, game four. Oilers took 16 penalties in the third

period. I did see that. That felt more like a bleep you guys. This game's over message sending time. I don't think Florida has a problem with those messages. They're happy to receive them and send them as well. Panthers are going to need to work on special teams. Three for 11 on the power play. They had a major in there too.

Damn, I mean, I don't want to clean that up a little bit. What a night. Oh, what a night. Now, careful. Because I remember like a week ago, Boilers had a one-nothing lead and everyone was just, when's the draft? A one game lead in a series is not as big as it feels at times.

It sets up a huge game in eight days. days or whatever the next game is yeah it's Thursday right something like that yeah yeah well be i mean before we worry about that we can we can worry about the the break and game four and all that we should really take more time to dig into last night's match i'd like to i'd like to sick my teeth yeah there was because there was a lot going there were a lot of goals there were penalties there was um you know controversy i guess uh those who are good are still good to keep getting better. Were people getting hot under the collar?

They were getting, yeah, they were getting, their dander was up. Yeah, their dander was definitely up for sure. Jack, you know what danders? It's a dandruff. Is that what it comes to? I don't think he's, you got your dander up.

He has been an unbelievable player for them. It stops elsewhere, but no one remembers them. He was a stud since you got there. Yeah, there's a Tampa, Atlanta, by Lent, too. Yeah. Jeez. Bwango.

So that made it two to nothing. Good start for the home team. Yeah, two, nothing after one. And say what you will. Corey Perry is having an unbelievable playoff. This has been a renaissance for Perry. Joins Igor and Larianov and Mark Recky is the only players 40 or older to score in back-to-back Stanley Cup final games.

Because he tied it, as you recall, in game two to send it to overtime. Speaking of rats. and this is his hands are his hands are still there folks if you're wondering and he's also comfy in front not unlike marshand you wonder how do you get that much space i mean there's two guys there i suppose but yeah anyway so that was uh oh shit i mean depending on which way you're cheering at two one we've talked about it you need more than that not against the oilers and they're going to pull a goal if they need to and score at some point so clearly you're going to need a lot more. Yeah. And

the Oilers have done a good job of getting them, getting goals back, being resilient in that in that way. Florida also resilient. So that makes it a two to one gains. All right. Well, this is minute 40 into the second period. This game's got a long

Yeah, I've seen some of these against LA where they up three or four, oilers just start chipping away.

But it weirdly didn't have the vibe of one of those nights, just with how the game was being played. Florida was very good. The Oilers did not have their game last night. At four to one, no lead is safe with Edmonton, but it didn't feel like a night where they were going to harness it, for whatever reason. And I mean, I'm the first guy that's going to sit there and be like,

no, they'll still come back. they're going to pull the goalie. They get one with the goal he pulled. So now what's your lead? But it did feel like the Panthers were really rolling last night. Whether that's home, whether that's last change. I know there's been a lot of talk about what Barkov can do to McDavid

and try and neutralize him and all of that. But we'll walk through it. The Oilers then start to fall apart. Oh, they lose a little bit. They lose their, lose my cool a little bit. They give another power play in the, in the third.

And this is, we'll show it only because it's a thing of beauty. It is a thing of beauty. It's four to one. Barkov again. He's Park protection. Cachuk.

But Florida just controlled everything. They set the tone. They dictated the terms of play. And that's probably why it felt like there wasn't a comeback brewing. Yeah. I know that the Euler fans are going to be probably upset with the referee. And it was a six one game. But it's what happens when the game is still close or still in doubt that sets that.

I didn't like the one. I mean, Kane gets one for cross-checking. Okay. You don't need to. maybe the guy, maybe the player sells it a bit. The high sticking call, I don't know. You maybe let that one go. It felt like it was a little ticky tack, not just for the OVet,

but just, and maybe it's just because as an observer, it's like, just let these teams play. And the other thing, too, is, let them play. It's like, okay, these calls are huge. So once we made one on this side, well, now we've got a call on this, and back and forth that went for the first period. Like, I don't think the penalties were out of whack through 20. You've got it in front of you.

Well, it was four, four, yeah, there was eight minor penalties in the first period. And so they were playing the move the marble in the pocket game where no one's going to get more than the other, but we owe this team one now, so we're going to call this, and all of a sudden it's tickey-tacky stuff. Whereas if you just had two each, it's a way better period probably to watch.

And they got a little unglued. There's no doubt about it. Arvetson interference on the goalkeeper. I believe that's one that led to the power play goal, the Verhegey goal late in the first period. And we can take a look at it. this is, now this is,

does it feel like it's cherry picking, maybe. And when a game is 4-1, 5-1, 6-1, you're going to be frustrated. It's the cup final. But certainly, just watching.

Slashes, we've got some casual sticks to the face. We're squirting water. And I don't, I don't know. There's a discussion to be had here because, like, we talked to read about it.

You can describe more if you want. Sure. I guess for, I mean, there's, It's just melee all over. There's Flingberg.

And so the question people are asking is like, is this sending a message where it's like, okay, you can lose, but we'll beat you up in the alley? Or is this playing right into Florida's hands? And you really didn't beat them up because they probably handled you in all these interactions anyway.

Like, is this, the Oilers letting off steam, sending messages, or is it like Florida's under their skin? And the one place the Oilers couldn't play this series is in the alley, and now the Oilers are there. And I don't really know. I can see a little bit of both there. Because Rhett would say, okay, well, we might lose, but like Chris Simon, Christoph Oliwa, myself, Reg,

we're all just going to grab someone. And, like, you might beat us, but we're going to hurt you. I feel like Evanton tried to do that. I just don't know that it worked. because like Gadjavik's happy to to scrap with nurse. All these tradeoffs are like we saw E.J. Greer. That's a guy that if he's taken off a top nine, like great. I don't know that it worked, but we'll see.

Game four is going to tell us whether it worked or not or whether this doesn't, it's just irrelevant. It feels like it's kind of irrelevant. Either way, we would have something, we, whatever, media, whatever. We would have something to say about it if they went quietly into the night and didn't push back. is there no just is there no fight in this team is there not we would be saying those sorts of things and then if it goes this way

so well you guys came unglued probably I was as I was watching it in it's clear this game is not going to be won by the Oilers over and it's starting to get a little bit kind of kind of silly I was one just so for

for knob block at what point do you say guys we're now in you could get suspended next game if things get silly. We're in the third period. Some healthy chops. We're going to. Let's get out of here.

Was he trying to control the team? I don't know. Is he okay with this? And so there's two things that I think is important for context. One, Connor McDavid, got rocked and went down the tunnel. he was gone for a bit and came back.

We don't know if it's equipment or injury, but it's safe to say it's something that the Oilers. Well, he took a heavy hit here from, and we can show it. So this is full speed McDavid on a bang, got him in the trolley tracks, and that sent him down the tunnel soon after. And that's a guy going almost full speed

getting hit by a huge man, bang. And it wasn't just a hit because he left. So are the Oilers now in search of, don't hit our guy. You're going to have to deal with X, Y, and Z in terms of slashes and hits. Or is it like careful now because you might be up in a game. And if you guys are all okay breaking sticks over kidneys,

Connor's fair game for that now. Because you're doing it to our guys. And again, you can play both sides. I don't really know where it is because you do want to stand up for Connor. And you do want to feel like there's repercussions for going after star players. But I just think Florida's better at this game than Edmonton. Nobody's better in the alley with the dark arts being rats than the Panthers. Yeah.

And Kane was saying afterwards that it feels like the refs, let, I'm paraphrasing, let's Florida get away with more than them. I don't know. It just feels like if the Panthers were doing it, you wouldn't see them breaking a stick over a guy's back and that it's far more discreet. It's far more under. They haven't been behind undercover. In a spot in this series where we could see what it's going to look like.

But even just, we've seen how they operate now through three-post seasons. Like you say, they're very comfortable. It's part of their MO. It was, last night was, it was exactly what Florida could have hoped for is they got a lead. And then they were able to get into that sort of stuff, the genanigans. And the refs more or less allowed it. And if anything, penalized the victim more than the perpetrator. And so when I say the dark arts, that's what I mean.

Yeah. Anyone can slash another guy. It's the ability to do it and get away with it. And that's where Florida's great. If anything, the refs, they didn't, they didn't punish Florida for doing it. And then the oilers.

All the egregious, the most egregious ones were the oilers. Yeah. Well, I mean, and it was the frustration that. What are they supposed to do? Like one team's down four taking cheap shots. Yeah.

And yeah, Florida gets under your skin. Hello, that was the whole series preview. All we talked about is like, they just have this ability to play nasty, rat hockey that no other team we've watched, I can remember, was as good at. Yeah.

And, you know, we can go back to Sam Bennett. He scores that goal. It's now 14 goals. Jeez. That's more than he had his last year here. Goals in three straight. We can take a look at it again. I think there's a Bennett clip where you see the hit on Paul Colson.

They end up getting the turnover. He goes back the other way and scores the goal. he's the central figure in that line brawl essentially starting. That's a heavy hit. And then goes and finishes on Klingberg. Klemberg was not good either. And then just reads it perfectly. Interesting that lost Ryan and makes that play.

It's like, oh, you're going to, well, yeah, he's got, he's got a little more speed. He's having a shift. Just get it to him. And if you're, if you're on the Oilers bench at that point, 3-1 becomes 4-1 and it's that guy again. Yep. And they're getting, we're getting penalties.

We're getting run out of the building at this point. It's that guy. I see how the frustration sets in. Totally. I mean, there's no, you can sympathize with being frustrated if you're doing it. Well, there's 100%. The question is, how do you respond to this panther's group? We haven't seen anyone show us because no one's beat them in a while.

Yeah. I mean, we talk about that over the next two days, I suppose. Yeah, like the 4-1 goal from Bennett here on the breakway. That's 726 into the second. At that point, penalties are 4-4. Like, you could take your bitch and somewhere else, Oilers fans. This game was over at that point. Yeah.

And from that point on, the penalties were not close because one team was down and melting down, frankly. Yeah, and I think. And or sending messages. That's kind of what Paul Maurice said. A lot of this extracurricular, a lot of this stuff. is happening once this game is very much out of reach kind of finished yes and that's a tale as old as time playoff game setting the tone let your frustrations out penalties if you as long as you don't get suspended fine uh cane gets a misconduct frederickick home cap and all misconduct

uh darnel nurse in the uh in the third all getting tough guy jake walman was in the mix at the end so i mean it's the cup it's good for the series and you've got some scarrow tissue against with Florida if you're an oiler and you're sick and tired of it i didn't i didn't have a problem with it i was just a little surprised that it kept happening that at some point maybe the oilers would have said it's probably enough now but it just kind of happened at every whistle but maybe that's what you want to see um darnel nurse ends up i mean what did he play because he does get this the uh he gets To misconduct there.

It's not a ton of time, I guess. Just this is a guy who plays a regular shift. He plays a lot of minutes and then gets tangled up with Jonah Gajovic, who is, and I know BX afterwards was talking. He respects both of these guys because Gajavit, I mean, he's, he's a tough guy. This is a fourth liner that likes to fight. He's classified as a heavyweight is what BX. And I don't know that I disagree.

This is a guy who's in the league because of this stuff more than anything else. Yes. and when Jay Rosenol, I did a show for two years talking about guys fighting, I mean, this was one of the central characters on that show. And for Nurse, he can go. It's not his forte. He's strong. He's big, but he's certainly not a tactician here.

This is not what he wants at this point. That's perfect for Florida. This is my whole point. You're playing right into their hands. You're taking a top four defensemen and literally saying, go fight with another guy who's a great scrapper. Like, there's a lot of negative. I'm saying on the other side, I do give credit to nurse.

But I mean, what we're really talking about is who's going to be able to control the play and set the tone and dictate the terms. Last night it was all Florida. Doesn't mean that's going to be the case Thursday night.

But you certainly like Kevin the Barkov last change thing. Because they look. I don't know how many teams have Lundell and. Barkov is defensive centers. Like that's, you could put those guys out against dry saddle and McDavid all night if you want to. You can't do that in Edmonton. I don't know that because you're going to go back to Skinner,
