Hi, everyone. Welcome to the show here on a lovely, a beautiful, I think it's a Tuesday, the 25th of June as the hockey season.
I think officially now Retro has come to an end. I think it's not just another break.
We've squeezed out, yeah, it's not a two-day break. I think it's probably a couple days until the draft or whatever it is.
But I think in terms of actual hockey, I think it's finally over. Did you watch any of the games?
game last night. I sure did. You did, eh? Caught it? Yeah. Yeah, I figured out you know, I'll throw it on.
You know what the hell? See what everybody's talking about. See, because we're doing a sports show, right?
We should probably just have some intel. Yeah, be able to figure out what it is we're talking about.
What's that word that we remember we, Chaden Freud? Is that what it is? When you take pleasure out of other people's
misfortune. Oh, is that what that means? I don't know. I think.
that's what that means. Chaden Freud is, because we were talking about that with Stephen Brunt back in the
day. It's, um, when you take, uh, my kid said this to me last night. He says, you know, I think actually,
I enjoy watching the oilers. I get more out of the oilers losing than anybody else actually winning.
I said, yeah, that's, that's a thing for sure. That's, and I think it's grown. I think there's a lot of people
that felt that way. Um, but so I don't want us to be that. You know what I mean? It's too easy just to,
I, uh, because, you know, listen, the team that we cover, they didn't make the playoffs.
They don't have a particularly strong team.
We're but.
Or theirs were one win away.
We're impartial.
To come on and just, you know, blast away and start taking pleasure in the fact that they lost in game seven.
We're above that.
I wouldn't do it.
It's a good beer, Dean.
Or maybe we're not above that.
Good beer.
Maybe.
1.2% crushable 10 a.m. on a Tuesday drinker.
Maybe in hindsight we're not above that.
This would seem to be us clearly taking pleasure in somebody else's misfortune.
Somebody is.
And looking deadly.
Yeah, he is looking deadly.
Wow, that's always been a big cats guy.
Yeah, you have.
Of course you have.
Way back to 90 whatever when they started.
Yeah.
Chase's cats.
At the rink down at the old other place before the rats and cats.
Love the cats and rats, baby.
That's right.
Okay, I'll have you with you too.
This part of the show is sponsored by Origin, Maltzing, get yours today.
The new, the time as any, I suppose.
The brand new, the Calgary location is open.
Oh, boys, what do you say?
That's a banger of a final right there, fellas.
A lot of sweat.
That was a sweat for anyone cheering either for the Panthers or cheering like their life
on the line against the oilers just whichever category you might fall into i didn't i didn't enjoy
the very quick one one goal by yeah no no that not long enough you didn't make them sweat longer
they're tied her up you're like freaking who are these guys on the breakaway score what are you doing with
the breakaways from your own end yeah he makes a nice play don't like that cc of all guys right
So this is not when C-C's going tape to tape, sauce right through the neutral zone, this may not end well.
This may not be a good omen for the Florida Panthers.
But I mean, look, it was a hell of a game.
It was a one-goal game.
And the guy that we've been crushing for the entire series, Sam Reinhart gets the goal when they need it.
You said it yesterday.
Do you need that star player?
Yep.
Well, it was like a crack before midnight.
but Sam Reinhart showed up and made an impact as, you know, is a great goal.
I don't know.
I don't think anybody's blaming Skinner.
It's a hard risker.
They know on the panel, too, that dry-sidal stick gets in there right at the release
and that probably alters the where Skinner thinks it's going to go versus where it goes,
not the puck, but the stick, just enough to fool them a little.
Because you should stop a shot from that distance, although that is a 59 goal guy, so maybe you just tip your cap.
Yeah. Crazy plays at both at, I mean, there's that play there. You see Kulikov just sweeps it.
And then in the third period, there's that that puck that's laying there for, for Hyman,
who has done nothing but score 50, 60, 70 of those this year. And I guess it's Foresling,
who just kind of gets a stick in just enough to disrupt them. So where is he here? Is he at the,
the left side of the net there? Well, Hyman talked about a post game. He's a right shot too.
kind of trying to want tour actually who just gets enough of them to knock them off balance
but brodsky dives over and that's with seven left it was a hell of a hockey game
it's a little easier to take when the well it's not the team you want to win the team that
you don't want to win doesn't win i guess is how you end up looking at it but that's
that's incredible how many times does that go in out of 10 like yeah eight nine
it's kind of the guy you'd want there too.
Hyman. Yeah, that's 9-7 and 18.
Pretty much automatic, automatic right there.
So which way do we go? Do we go with the winners or the losers for the instant analysis here?
Courtesy of McLeod Law, our opening statements, a presentation of McLeod Law.
They are Calgary based, the Calgary born, the Calgary bread.
They are Calgarians like you and I, and they know exactly what Calgary is about, what the people in Calgary need and want.
And it's a special place to them.
Their roots in this city run deep.
When you contact McLeod Law, you're not getting a Zoom call from some other city,
some Montreal.
Shot and Freud.
Yeah, you're not getting any of that shot in Freud.
You're getting good, downhome Calgary people who just happen to be the very best of what they do,
McLeod-dashlaw.com, whatever your issue or challenge is personal or business.
Well, we'll talk about the Panthers, I guess.
So what happens when you win?
Things are good.
Things are good.
And you would think Miami, Southern Florida, Fort Lauderdale, that's a great place.
So what does it like to win?
Well, here's just a taste of what it's like to win.
Okay, let's see.
Ten seconds left.
Two one panthers.
A dream 30 years in the main game is a reality.
The Florida Panthers have won the Stanley Cup.
One Stanley is coming home.
Good job, good job. Put it up again, baby. Put it up, baby.
Good job, good job. Well deserved, boy.
Yeah, barbecue later.
We're in doctors as well as all those specialists.
Let's go, baby. Got the cup on Los Angeles.
Hold that thing up, Chuck. Let's go, Chuck. Let's go.
And this is some security footage from the elbow room.
Oh my God.
There's Barkie.
Yeah, we should probably get, you think it floats?
What do you think?
You think it floats?
That was only one way to find out, Dean.
Only one way to find out, fellas.
We may as well see.
Look at the WW belt.
What a be.
Let's go.
So they're having a time in South Florida.
And it should be a shock to no one.
And there's a surprise of people that are bitter.
It should shock no one that Matthew Kachuk is at the head of the line.
Right in the center of that show.
Yep.
Yep.
Pretty cool.
How much gas they got in the tank, right?
Another day or two, day and a half.
You're going to need a little catnap here there.
Yeah, you got to fit something in.
But you can't slow down too much.
Otherwise, it's going to hit you.
I think you're so full of adrenaline that.
I know the opposite when you don't have the adrenaline.
you lose but yeah i think you're so jacked up that there's no slow in you now yeah but i was worried
about the humidity mix in a water fella you're pellis pellis just get an i v gang while you're in the
bar have a meal with an iv bag in yeah yeah marathon not a sprint fellas pace yourself what was great
is that is walt keith kitchuk driving that golf cart there was another shot there was matthew in
the middle row and keith's driving and barkov's on the back with the cup and uh that would be a
challenge for Walt because you know how old's how old's Keith he's got to keep up with the young
bucks or maybe the young bucks got to keep up with him i'm not sure how that goes just a little cat
i mean that's that's pretty good that's a hell of a time man bark of on the back
man yeah hell of a time that guy did like did you notice mac david the first 40 minutes
not enough he made one play in the first period that was really good and other than that i thought
it was pretty quiet actually.
Two shots or something all night.
And look, that's not a shot at McDavid at all.
That is that Florida has last change.
That's the best defensive center in hockey.
It's not close.
Yeah.
And we talked about that before the series.
Talked about it early in the series.
Fourth series in a row where he shut down superstars.
I don't think Leon's right at all.
He didn't look like Leon.
I mean, he made a saucer pass in the final.
That's all I remember the whole series that of him being impactful.
Yeah, for him not to, because if you go through it,
I know somebody has.
You look at the points in round one,
round two,
round three.
He didn't have a goal in the seven game series.
If he doesn't have a bad wing,
I'm absolutely stunned.
Never mind any other.
14 points in the first round.
I mean,
he was lap in the field.
Yeah.
And there is,
I mean,
how do you point at McDavid and say,
well,
gee,
I guess,
oh,
he's the best in the world.
Yeah,
one of the best playoff performances
we've ever seen.
It is.
I don't remember the Gretzky ones.
I was too young.
But in terms of,
like,
adult life, like memory.
Like that's, that's the greatest playoffs I've seen from a single player.
Yeah.
And there's,
there's interesting things on both sides.
How the Oilers got to where they were,
how the Panthers managed to win despite having,
going one for whatever they were,
21 on the power play.
Faceoffs, all that,
the goaltending that seemed to have let Florida down suddenly shows up last night.
The extra day, does it,
does it help?
Does it hurt?
Who does it help? I don't know.
But we said yesterday, I mean, I thought that the Oilers were going to find away last night.
It just felt like, again, this momentum thing.
How were the Florida Panthers going to suddenly dig in their heels and stop this train from going?
And they did last night.
They were the better team pretty much from start to finish.
And it was still a two one game.
They get an all world tip to go up one nothing.
And it's the first lead they'd had in ages.
They'd started outright, though.
Yeah, totally.
Great, not just.
Great opening period.
They were on them the way the Panthers had played.
Yeah, it looked like one of the first three games
or it's like we're winning puck battles,
we're paying the price,
we aren't allowing you anything in our own end.
It was impressive that,
and look, the Oilers coming back, 3-0,
we're hanging it up a little.
I don't know that we'll ever see that in our lives again.
Coming back from 3-0 with, you know,
that kind of, it looked like an unstoppable force of nature
that Oilers Club when you watch game 4-5.
six there'd be no way you convince yourself they could lose game seven but you we talked about
yesterday all of a sudden their family was there all of a sudden they had to worry about you know
how many people were aware uh you had four cracks that if you're the panthers that's the thing
about being up three oh are no in for a row half both teams yeah no one is uh is pointing at
florida today and saying yeah but you blew a three nothing lead and you had to
nope flags fly forever it is
It don't matter.
It don't matter.
Paul Maurice, it had been, the numbers were out there.
He was the longest tenured coach without having a Stanley Cup to his credit.
And he gets one.
You have to wonder what, because he always seems to have that even keel mentality,
unless he's pissed off and swearing on the bench.
But outside of that, he looks unflappable.
He looks like a very calm customer.
He's spent a lot of time behind the bench.
Neat moment for him, as you see, is being interviewed.
and then all of a sudden, look at this.
Look who's here.
Paul Maurice last night.
Paul, Marys, Paul, you said you needed to win one,
and you've got one now, so what's it feel like?
It's just brilliant, right?
I've never hugged so many sweaty men in my entire life.
I'm not sure I'm going to do it again,
but I'm going to do it tonight.
So, you know what?
It's not what I thought it would be.
It's so much better, but it's the hugs, man.
I saw Sam Bennett smile today.
First time in two years.
It's brilliant.
You know, it's for my mom and dad in Sue St. Marie, Ontario.
My brother's Mike and Shane in Sue St. Mary in Waterloo.
The whole Anglois clan in LaSalle, Ontario.
All of the people that suffered through 30 years of me losing making excuses.
Mom and dad, especially.
Hey, Dad, your name's going up with your heroes.
Belival.
Richard.
Hal Lindsay
Maurice.
Last one for you. After your time in Winnipeg,
you were prepared for a career in fishing,
but I wonder if there is a better catch than Lord Stanley.
Well, I was just lucky.
You know what? It was, it was,
so if I could have one thing more,
it'd be for the Winnipeg Jets to win the next day.
Paul, congratulations.
Thanks, Scott.
Classy fellow there.
Hall Stradamos calling the Jets next year.
Yeah, something.
What about you, Paul?
Would you like to go back to back maybe?
The next Stanley Cup or just win one at some point?
1,985 games.
It's a lot of games.
Yeah.
This was, I think we have the clip there where he was on the ESPN with
Yeah, Scott Van Copland.
Okay, sir.
And the Cup shows up, as they say.
Now is Stanley Cup champion.
Describe your emotions right now.
I can't.
I don't go on.
Hang on for six.
We got a visitor.
There you go.
It started coaching at such an early age.
Coach the Hartford Whalers, when he was incredibly young,
it's his 26th season as a head coach.
And there would be some years in there where he did not coach.
So we're talking about 30 plus years chasing that thing.
And then it happens.
You at some point, you would just feel like,
and maybe it would have been last year,
where you get to the cup final and you lose,
you feel like, I'm, this is, this is not going to happen.
This is never, ever going to happen.
And then you go up three nothing.
You're like, it's finally going to happen.
And then you, that, okay, three, one, three, two, three.
I'm never going to win this.
But he got it done.
Is there you can see it.
Pretty incredible stuff.
It's, it's why it, and I know it's hard for, if there's oiler fans watch and it's
hard to take any pleasure in this.
And I get that.
And maybe for some people, you don't give a shit.
But it's why sports is so great when it,
It's great. There's a lot of times where there's shitty stories and bad things and bad press and bad people.
But on the flip side, there's some pretty cool stories and pretty cool things that do come from it.
And one of them is that the coach who hired, fired, hired, fired, and then quit in Winnipeg.
And there were a lot of people. I saw even this morning. People are really good at going back in time and finding old tweets off of Twitter and cherry picking stuff.
A lot of people really felt like Andrew Burnett should never have been.
the guy who was cast aside by Florida, bringing in Paul Maurice after you saw what Andrew
Brunette did in the wake of watching Joel Quenville leave.
Turned out okay, I guess.
Both things can be true as well, though.
Yeah, this is true, yeah.
And I wouldn't have been surprised if Florida had a better year last year.
Like, again, they had less points in the flames.
If Chicago doesn't beat Pittsburgh the last game of the year, they don't even get in last year,
never mind the final.
Like, it's a big shift.
And it was a big roll of the dice, but that's kind of been Bill Zito's thing.
He's not been afraid to make the big move.
He traded the guy that finished second in league scoring
and Aaron Eckblad's best D partner
that he played better with and worse without
for a swing of Kachuk.
And he threw in a first rounder.
And then he did that with a coach.
Like this is a ballsy,
ballsy GM, but he knew what he wanted.
He got what he wanted to.
Finally, after the scare in game five
where he rips the water bottle and then you're like,
shit, are we blown this thing?
But there he was at the end.
He got it.
I liked on the on the ESPN or I guess it was a T&T broadcast where Ray Ferraro was saying
Bill Zito he's crying.
Bill Zito's been crying for half an hour.
He's an emotional guy and he was.
I mean,
he was just,
he was going all night.
But there's,
there's so many different layers to it.
And you feel for,
you know,
Sergei Bavrovsky,
because you'd wear that one,
if you are up three nothing and then all of a sudden your save percentage
dips into the 700s and you can't stop a puck.
and if you're if you're ryanhart and you score 57 in the regular season but then you can't
piss a drop when it matters most yeah all of that it um it it would have been a really tough
one to live to live with and we talked about it yesterday it'd be the most epic collapse you would
be part of the most epic collapse in NHL history for sure and top five maybe in all of sports yeah
and the Oilers would be the greatest upset story of all time down three oh in the final like it
And again, we were what, one bounce of the puck away from that happening?
Now you get to be a footnote.
Holy shit.
Yeah.
I think we have it here.
Now, remember there was a time, well, what do you want?
Flames fan, are you going to, are you going to be happy?
Kachuk and Bennett gets, get Stanley Cups or the Oilers win.
Like, which one would you rather?
And it became pretty clear pretty quickly, which one we'd rather.
And then Matthew Kachuk removed.
all uh all dealt last night as he uh said hello um shout out to all them and shout out to my
fans and calories so you know i couldn't let emminton what he's got that devil is great he knows
what he's done it hurts because he is that guy he play you can he's just got he's got that brain
he digs it he knows his role he loves the game he loves the the the chippy side of it he's
exactly who you want to be on your team.
He's exactly who you want to be wearing a letter of some sort on your jersey and to have
had him and now watch him do it elsewhere.
But pretty cool moment for him and his old man.
And you see Brady how emotional he was to watch his brother lift the cup.
You see it all.
It's the beautiful thing.
It's the families.
It's the journeys and all of that.
And for some guys, you're young.
You've barely had a taste.
So this is how life is going to be, is it?
And then you see Kyle Okpozo who played, I mean, I was looking at, I meant to go and look at his,
his career this morning.
That's a long time in Buffalo.
It's a long time with the Islanders when they're not very good.
This is not a guy.
Just as he got good, as they got good, he left and went to Buffalo, right?
He had that big year with Tavares and then boom he was gone and Buffalo has been shit since he got there.
So there you see it, 18 seasons for trips to the postseason.
That's it.
That's a lot of hockey without getting.
to the playoffs.
So again, I don't know that I have really,
you know, I don't really think about
Kyleok Posa, to be honest, but that's a pretty
damn good story. Drafted in the first round in 2006,
spends all that time with the Islanders.
One, two, three, three runs with the Islanders in 2012,
13, then in 14, 15, and 15, 16.
And on top of that, both of the first two runs
were first round and done.
They didn't get out of the first round.
In 15, 16, he played 11 games,
eight points as they get to round two.
And then all those years in Buffalo,
not a sniff,
this was just his fourth trip,
got into 16 of the games,
and of course was in the lineup last night.
And apparently veterans lobbied for him to be in there.
You'd love to hear that because he'd been healthy at points, right?
So congrats to the Pantaros.
I would guess,
I'm not sure if they're still at the elbow room.
I'm sure the internet.
Somebody's doing something.
I can guarantee you that.
It might not be everyone still,
but there'll be.
The internet will keep us up to date and abreast of what is happening down there.
Do the Oilers fly last night?
Did they fly today?
I'm not sure how that goes.
I would have expected that that plane was ready to leave when they needed to.
Two plans of family and one plane of Oilers,
I believe is what it was.
They charted two extra flights for family,
or was it one extra?
Either way, yeah, many plans of sad people going back to Edmonton.
But I told the story as a buddy's house last night with people.
He said, well, that's better than what my folks had to go through in Tampa Bay.
They had their flames jerseys on and stood on the sidewalk till 3.30 waiting for a cab because no one back on.
Oh, oh no.
Come on.
Yeah.
You want Tampa?
not to how quickly you go from on the cusp of being revered and remembered for an accomplishment to being,
they didn't win so you're not.
It's cruel.
Right?
Like Edmonton, a goal away, two goals away, whatever, how you want to describe it.
Like the best comeback ever, the team that just wouldn't quit, the best player in the world.
in the cup final we've ever seen one of the best sporting achievements of all time yeah instead oh just losers yeah
they came back that year weren't they down with what three nothing or three one they got a one was that the was that oh six or what uh
and then you go through it and you see yeah consulate in a loss geez that's tough and you look at it now sorry and what a week it has been for that team for that fan base for that city it's and hey we lived it here right
We still talk about 2004, the parties and the Red Mile, this and that.
You remember every single moment along the way, and you think about the Euler fans.
It stinks to have lost, but you think of all those moments that you accrued over the last two months.
Remember the Kings and Oilers played a series.
Really?
Yeah.
Rumor has it.
At some point, they played a series.
Kings, what was that?
And remember,
Calvin Pickard.
He played a couple games.
Calvin Pickard played?
Yeah, he did.
Yeah.
Besser and what?
Blood what?
Oh, geez.
That was ages ago.
Remember J.T. Miller scored that, that one goal late,
and it gave the Canucks and the oilers were cooked.
They were done.
Chew Thriller.
Yeah.
And then Dallas, remember they were up in the first period.
Oh, they had a two nothing or whatever it was.
Two nothing.
It's unfairly definitive.
It's unfairly black.
black and white, but I guess that is sports because it's not just hockey.
It's not real life, but it is sports.
You think of the Atlanta Braves and how many great teams they had.
Can I make it?
How about the Buffalo Bills?
The Buffalo Bills make it to four Super Bowls and come away with nothing.
Yeah, it's rough.
Taking all that away because you, I think early on,
and maybe you do, I don't know.
We believed, we believed all the way along.
We believed.
I don't know at 3-0 that they believed.
You win one game and you, I mean,
roughshod over Florida, you thumped them.
Maybe that gives you believe.
But by the time you're in that, in game five,
we're going to make this three to two.
You're believing.
And for sure, they thought they were winning game six
and they thought they were winning game seven.
Going to that Sunday night, they thought they were.
They might have known for the first time in a while last night.
I said it yesterday.
I never know when everyone's going through the same thing on both sides as far as it's a game seven.
But the ability to win and put the oilers season or turn it off,
Panthers had a bunch of chances at that.
They were more conditioned for this game seven than I think the Oilers.
I think it was a complete flip of the script as far as stress levels.
Yep.
Yep.
Oilers were favored.
Oilers were house money the whole way,
and then all of a sudden they were favored to win.
And it was their family lining up to get on the ice with them to win the cup.
Make sure everybody's got tickets.
Make sure everybody's got this.
All right, we're going to have to do this.
You're lying in bed Sunday night and you can't sleep.
Different feel.
Different feel.
And again, bounce of the puck.
Could be too long.
It's cruel.
No.
It could have been, yeah.
It's, yeah, it's not fair.
It's not a fair setup at the end of the day.
But they, there will be a time when the orders,
and they're going to feel good about it.
They're going to look back.
No, they're not.
No, they're not.
That's a bullshit statement.
Really rad?
Well, one guy would know.
I'm not joking because everyone says, well, at least you got there.
F that.
F that, laying up at night thinking, well, we beat Vancouver.
doesn't make losing Tampa Bay a good feeling, right?
Like, no way.
As fans, maybe.
As fans, you can maybe go, that was fun.
We had a fun run and we had thanks, guys.
But as a player, losing in a Stanley Cup in Game 7,
you're not going to feel good about it ever.
You said it yesterday, it's peak pain.
Yeah, but are you able,
as close as you can get without winning it?
Are you able now to look back on the Vancouver series
and beating Detroit?
No.
And the memories and that, not even specific moments of euphoria along the way?
Well, you can think about when you, yeah, there would, of specific moments.
But in general, I don't sit up in bed thinking about how great we did.
You're thinking about one more thing you could have different.
When I see that cup hoisted last night, I don't, I'm not excited.
I'm sad.
I'm sitting there all melancholy.
I'm upset.
Yeah.
Every time I've ever watched the cup be, it gets me depressed, basically.
You saw it ruin his day in Vegas like six years ago.
Just seeing it at a sushi restaurant ruined his day.
Listen, we get that.
And maybe,
there are some people that would be able to look back
and, you know, what they accomplished in their career
and what the game has afforded them and wealth
and the success and all of that.
But I do feel like for the most part,
if you're any kind of a competitor,
or if you have any kind of a competitive spirit and desire to win
and you hate to lose, that that is the natural.
That's how you're going to feel.
That's, and it was like McDavid was asked last night,
how honored are you to win the Con Smyth?
I don't get.
He didn't come out, did he?
I didn't even see him up there.
No, he did not come up.
And I get it.
And I have no problem with that.
Let's make sure we're clear on that.
Connor McDavid has no interest in individual accolades.
And for the greatest offensive player,
we'll watch in our lives,
that's incredible.
He wanted the team thing
more than he wanted the personal thing.
And I have no problem with him
not going up to accept that
because his heart's just been broken.
That guy didn't have anything else to give.
That guy's given that organization,
everything he's had for what, nine years?
Like every single thing he could do he's done.
If anything, that organization's let him down.
Because how many years at a nine
have they been contenders?
Two or three?
This was the first year they got a win.
be on round two.
And that's one of those things.
To win the con smyth is incredible, right?
You look at the names that are on that trophy.
It is, it's an unbelievable Hall of Fame cast.
He will, until he wins, he'll never be able to enjoy that.
You won't care about that trophy until he wins.
You know, because you get it for the summer.
I remember because Cam Ward, he won the cup and he also had the con,
everywhere he went, the con smith went with him.
You think McDavid is going home?
home with the con smith trotting it around to picnics and birthdays just keep it take it to the hall i don't need
it as disrespectful as that may seem to some and i know some people thought that it was i don't i think
that they're being short-sight of him not to come out the last guy was what jas jayers jayers gillard with
the ducks he came out ron hextall with the flyers when they lost to the oilers in the 80 he 80s he
won the con smith he did come out and reggie leach was the only skater ever to win it yeah because
goalie in a losing cause.
Like, yeah, I kind of got shouted in my best, okay.
But he's a captain of the team that didn't win.
And he's, he's been told he's the greatest player in hockey's all
like because he is.
And he wants the trophy that he's dreamt of.
It's not the cons of my.
Yeah.
I was very into, I'm very curious if he's going to come out here.
Because he, he's that he would be destroyed.
He would be devastated.
They all came out with red eyes.
They'd all, honestly, do you know, like, do you want McDavid blubbering?
crying on the ice or do you let him have a moment and do
his thing with your team shit about the trophy of yeah
absolutely uh the con smite voting
and again you talk about it and i think there's a certain
segment that we'll point out and say well mac david
and as you as you'll see is the slam dunk for choice
for the uh for the con smith yep
there is one valid in there that's interesting but um
three that are interesting
there's three Oilers beatwriters that nine votes in total.
Yeah, there's Jim Matheson there had the McDavid Hyman-Buchard trifecta.
There are some guys that are just unabashed about it.
It's like, this is the team I cover.
This is my team.
I'm a bleeping Homer.
I'm not trying to be a journalist.
I'm not going to, yeah, I'm not going to do it any other way.
But some had said he had no points in game seven.
He had no points in game six.
should this, much like Bobrovsky for a while,
he's going to be the Khan Smyth and then he had those bad games.
Well, now he can't win it because of this.
Is everyone still on the same page as far as McDavid winning
despite zeros in the last couple?
100%.
Because he had eight points in two games that allowed them to get back into this series.
It's the same thing with Brobowski.
Did he have a couple rough games in there?
Sure, but there's no way they win the same without him.
There's no way they don't win without Sasha Barkoff.
And there's no way the Oilers are even relevant in this series.
if it's not for Connor McDavid. Those are your three best players in the series. They weren't great in all seven or dominant, or maybe they had games where it just went against them. But those were the three guys that if you watch the series, they determined who won. When McDavid was on and got away from Barkov, the Oilers put up big numbers. When Barkov was great, McDavid was muted. And even when they got outplayed, but Rovsky still pulled a win out of the fire in game one. And you could argue other portions of the series where it's like, yeah, they don't win that series of you.
switch goal is. I don't have a strong opinion on that trophy to begin with because I think
in my view on the playoffs and the cup is that it's about the team and just the Stanley
Cup. I think Connor to agree with you. Right? Like it's it's so secondary,
even for the guys that win it. Right? Like there's not a guy on that, that's won that cup
that wouldn't say keep the, keep the Kahn Smyth. They're like, get it over it. Give it away so we can get
the cop. Hurry, hurry, hurry, go. Thanks. This. This
doesn't matter. Thanks. This one doesn't matter. It's the other one here that I'm interested in.
Yeah, I think it matters for that one guy down the road when you, it's, it's late August or
late July and you kind of sit there and look at it. I's like, wow, that guy won the, holy smokes.
My name's on this trophy with all those guys. That's pretty cool. I don't think anybody laments not winning
it or certainly as we saw last night. I bet there's some Panthers that don't even know who won the thing at
this point.
If you win it and
celebrating with the cup.
Don't win the cup.
It's,
uh, it falls flat.
Yeah,
I don't know.
I,
I never really thought about it.
There was just so much talk about McDavid after those eight points and two
games that he was going to be the slam dog.
I never really gave it another thought.
It was clear the way the media was going to go.
And you have no points.
No points in game one either.
Yeah.
But it's the playoff.
It's a playoff MVP.
I don't know.
Can you squint and say that maybe the Panthers still find a way with Stalars or some other goalie?
I don't know.
It's,
it's pretty clear that the.
And again,
How much do you weigh to the final series versus the other three?
I don't know.
It seems like the people that vote on it seem to know how they want to weigh things.
But I've always had the challenging point of like,
what if a guy was hands down the best player for the first three rounds
and it wasn't close?
And then he has a just okay file.
I don't know.
It's about the cup.
This one is also interesting.
And I guess peak sadness.
Right? That would have been, like overtime would have been the only thing.
But for the Oilers and all of their fans, and there were a ton of them last night.
Man, I was a guy I knew, friggin Red Deer on the, on the free game show.
Oh, I guess he's down there.
The money that they would have spent, and over this whole run that you'd be going to games and going to the rank and paying for tickets and all of that sort of thing.
Flames fans know it from 04.
It just, the thing I remember about that, and this sounds stupid with Rhett in this conversation,
but I just remember that ride.
It was the ups and downs and it was game day, off day, game day.
What are you doing for the game?
How about the game last night?
Next game.
As soon as it was over, there was part of it that they didn't win,
but there was also part of it was like, shit, the, the fun's over.
We're not going out in two nights to get together.
We're not wearing our lucky hats again.
We're not doing, we're not going to the dome.
We're not going to a watch party.
We're not going to the bar.
We're not meeting at the special spot we always meet.
It's over.
And I think for a lot of the Euler fans, that's what it's going to be because it's been incredible.
And even after game three, it was, hey, it's been so much fun.
The Dallas series and they've been, they've been so good and all these moments in games,
it's been incredible.
And then they win four, five, and six.
That's a hard one.
And again, we've taken our runs at Corey Perry.
And I don't know if it's shot.
God, that's tough.
I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
As much as a Richard as that guy was, his whole career.
Perry has a Stanley Cup to his name.
That's the only saving grace for Corey Perry.
And he also won, didn't he win a Hart,
or Art Ross or somewhere along the way?
I mean, the guy's going to the Hall of Fame.
That's a bad, that's an unfortunate rough.
That's tough five years.
He has lost in the Stanley Cup final four times
in the last five seasons.
What about the year he didn't, Dean, what happened there?
Not lost to the leaves.
I don't know.
That's kind of cherry picking, I think.
It's cheeky is what it is, yeah.
It is.
For all the goals that got landed upon by Corey Perry,
I think they're okay with that graphic.
But,
man,
if he didn't have one,
that would be maybe the most heartbreaking.
I remember his wife and kids and stuff for it.
One of the games right now that,
like your kids have grown up with that.
You probably didn't have a kid
when you won the cop to be around right now.
Kids going to the game watching dad.
Oh,
7?
Lose.
07.
Yeah, because it was Oilers and then.
ducks and anyone that would point out and say well but you want a stanley cup earlier in your career
you don't understand you you won't understand a guy like that who is driven to win he's we don't
like him hate the way he plays love to have him on your team but he hates to lose he's a competitor
he'd rather die than lose and he's lost in the finals four times in the last five years and like
you say right it your family's been there they've been up on the ups and downs and the
and it's been different teams.
So maybe you're not as close
with all the same teammates.
I don't know.
You go on those runs with those guys.
You get pretty close to everyone.
Oh, man.
Well, and people forget.
He was on waivers that year.
They went to the final Montreal.
Anyone could have had him for free.
Like, no one thought he had five years left.
Never mind that trip to the final.
That was an improbable one with the bubble.
And in and out of the bubble, I suppose.
No fans in Montreal, fans in Tampa,
North Division.
That was a weird year.
And I think the hardest part, while we're sympathizing, I guess, with, with the oilers and some of their players.
But truly, I'll just do it again next year.
I was at the party last night I was at, I was said to the everyone there.
And I know exactly what's being said in the oilist room.
We'll get them next year.
I love you.
We'll be back next year.
We've got a great team.
We're going to be back next year.
We're going to finish your job next year.
Next year.
You don't know what the fuck's coming next year.
No, you don't.
next year is forever a million miles away.
Yeah, it's not a shot against them.
But you know what you're going to have to do next year?
You're going to have to go through Colorado and Vegas and Dallas and those same teams all over again.
Don't get hurt.
Don't do.
Yeah, Vegas will be better.
Vancouver will have a Demcoe and Besser not hurt.
Dallas is going to be bad.
Dallas is young guys, only have another year experience.
Yeah.
And they got to start paying the cat man.
They have almost $4 million bucks in penalties.
for being over this year in bonuses.
I think you're going to see full buyouts from Edmonton,
get rid of Campbell.
They might entertain if Kane's healthy enough to buy him out
because it has to be burn the boats.
It's the last year of dry saddle.
And then next summer, Bouchard has Arb Wrights.
He's going to get 11 or 12.
He's going to be a 100 point defenseman.
He's going to get frickin Eric Carlson money.
This is it.
It kind of is, isn't it?
And we've been saying that for a while.
You got to trade your first round to do whatever you can.
This is it.
Next year is burn the boats with Bouchard, final year of 3.9, final year of dry saddle.
Now, maybe they both sign and they all stay.
And it's not burn the boats.
But as you sit here today, they got seven forwards under contract.
They're not going to stay for dry saddle money.
I'll tell you that.
Right?
Like he's making.
Cheapest chips old Leon.
Leon probably is worthy of 13 to $15 million.
He's going to get close to a double.
What's he at, eight and a half?
He's not going to get 17, but he's $15 million.
Yeah, and Conner's a max deal, whatever that is.
It's 20% of the cap.
That's what he gets paid.
Anything less than that?
He's leaving money on the table.
And Bouchard's got an Arb case next summer that we've never seen one that strong ever.
You would think that the- He's going to be a hundred point in.
The McDavid and Drysaddle thing again, this is where off topic, but this is where being in Alberta and Canada is a knock.
because you're not going to leave money on right like your take home is going to be different if you're in
Florida Florida you take nine and a half if you can't stamp coast I'll just take eight because it's the same
they can't they have to take all of it because if they don't they don't get it and be fair
Connor did them a hell of a favor he went undermarket and max turned
Austin Matthews is a lesser player than Connor McDavid and has made significantly more because he used the leverage he had
it's the GM's job to do better around your superstar,
not overpay the nurses and CCs and Campbells of the world.
And that's,
it doesn't matter.
We can talk about it all summer.
But yes,
that's where those guys last night will be back next year.
Well,
it might be a completely different.
They've got seven forwards under contract.
So it will be a completely different.
Like the whole bottom six is different.
It's like,
and look,
they're pretty old down there.
Like it's Henrique's 34,
Gagne's 34.
Eric Rennie.
Brown's 30.
Derek Ryan's got one more year left.
He's 37.
And they don't have a pipeline of kids coming.
They just haven't drafted and developed well.
They're not very good with the cap.
But you still know, like maybe Hallaway and McLeod and some of those guys develop.
And maybe Broberg.
Broberg looked good.
Broberg had a good.
It does make you wonder where.
I don't know if he was anything.
Why did it take so long for him to get in?
But the Bouchard one, like you say, you talk about compelling.
Anything they can do to avoid arbitration.
Yeah.
try and, you know, you got a year.
He's making less than four.
If you don't take advantage of that,
like his salary is tripling probably.
Try and take advantage of his good nature.
And it broke through last year,
17 points in 12 games in the playoffs.
And then this year, 82 points.
Corp game defense.
And then in this postseason,
he's a point and a half to two points a game?
He ended up with 32 and 23.
Like, holy fuck.
That guy's making $12 million in the new world.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It is over.
We went to the max days,
gentlemen.
Yeah, you couldn't buy out here,
like the blois.
He turned 26 today,
and I think the buyout window
opens tomorrow.
Oh, dear.
Well, that's Washington's issue now, I guess.
Kings are doing okay there.
All right.
Now, do you,
we got to get you and get you out.
I got a Pender Report and then I got to fly
because I'm off to the airport
and I don't know,
we've got some interesting things happening behind the scenes.
Is that Ryan?
Well,
well,
you would love it.
You would chortle.
You would have a good guffaw.
You would laugh right from the bottom of your stomach.
Right from the hortic chuckle.
Yeah, nice.
Let's do the Pinda report.
It's a presentation of Village Honda on now.
It's the Village Honda demo clear out.
They're ready to move on from their 2024 demo models,
and you could save hundreds, even thousands of dollars on these vehicles
that are basically brand new, extremely low mileage on the lot of them.
Check them out online or better yet, go check them out in person.
at Village Honda, your dealership for life.
They present.
Ryan Pinder,
Ryan Pinder.
The Pinder Report.
All right.
There was last night,
Frank Zara Valley,
our boy from Daily Faceoff,
who will chat with tomorrow
from the Cosmo.
God,
he's been traveling like an absolute maniac,
hey?
Oh,
like he's on the run from the police
or something in that guy's travel schedule.
It was like Florida,
Eminton, Florida,
Eminton, Florida,
Vegas tomorrow,
pre-agency Monday.
Oh, my God.
There it is.
That's what the kids dream of
right there playing street hockey.
Flames and Sabres, they played a role in this thing.
Be proud GMs of Buffalo and there it is.
The Flames and Sabres.
Trade all your players for Florida to win the Cup.
It's Montour, it's Reinhardt, a very small extent.
Lomburg, a much larger extent, Sam Bennett and the absolutely Matthew Cichuk.
Mixed emotion.
This year, though, right?
It was Dallas and Vegas.
Hanif and Tanev and Van Gogh.
Just give them all to Florida.
and we can't have Edmonton win.
I know there's a huge Buffalo
Edmonton rivalry, right?
Right, right?
Yeah, I remember the old photo,
Tatum and Kachuk on the bus.
Got a little refresh that.
That was pretty cool.
Yeah, they went to the same school.
That's a thing in St. Louis.
Wow.
Crazy.
That is crazy.
That's nuts.
Hey, you're pretty good at basketball.
Do you think, yeah,
maybe I could get a skull.
You're good at hockey?
Yeah, yeah.
I'm hoping to get to this prep school.
World champs, man.
That's unbelievable.
Paul Marais.
What do we got for Paul?
Lots of games.
You noted it.
Nearly 2,000 games.
It doesn't sound like a lot until you realize that if you went for a decade,
you'd barely have 800.
Oh, it's a lot.
Hockeyfights.com celebrates every team losing in the playoffs
with some crying Jordans.
Let's take a peek.
There's Connor in his old suit.
There's gorgeous George posing
with a crying Jordan Orler.
Right.
Yeah.
Good night, Oilers.
Conn Smyth voting.
This is funny.
There's three beat writers from Edmonton.
Jim Matheson of Post Media.
Daniel Nugent Bowman of the Athletic
and Mark Specter of Sportsnet.
They had nine votes in total.
Two went to the team that won the Stanley Cup.
And Matheson's ballot did not have a panther.
None.
You'd think it was a sweep for the Oilers.
Incredible stuff, Jim.
Never change.
Classy.
He'll be back next year, right?
They don't have any catfishers with Jim on that roster?
No, he's there.
He's got one of them.
Long-term.
Yeah.
Was it LTIH, long-term injured Homer?
I don't know.
Okay.
Let's go to the CFL.
What does the CFL have to do with Stanley Kavana?
Well, there's some weird.
things that have, yeah, the Baltimore
stallions have won the Grey Cup
since the last Canadian team won a cup.
It is sort of all those Boston pizza
marketing execs. They really were pushing hard. Rogers
too. You really wanted F stature for the
Canadian team. Do we really
feel that?
As you watch. It is just funny.
All these Canadian kids
win the cup. I just
I don't even, it's not even, yeah, it doesn't register.
It's just, I don't get it. My Aussie mother
in-law who knows nothing about hockey. We're sure
we should be cheering for Edmonton.
So I kind of feel like that's where it's at.
If you know shit about the sport and you don't understand what a rivalry is,
yeah, that's Canada's team.
Go get it.
Fill your boots.
Here are the Cucucks.
It's quite a crew.
That's another Frank bomb there.
That's a,
that's the first cup lifted by a Cichuck, if I'm correct, you know?
Yeah, it is.
Matthew got a little teary when asked about being the first Cachuck to lift,
said I'm not here without any of them.
Big Walt never got one.
And Brady was moved.
hands to the face, like elated crying.
It was it was something.
Yeah.
They get a lot of attention.
You know what?
I don't mean this.
It's not a shot at anything.
Every guy that lifted that cup has a family behind him at some point.
Yeah.
And it's just that there's so many good players in that family that they had.
And that's Cichuk Matthew, not Cichuk Keith or Cichuk Brady got it first.
Interesting.
And yeah, Walt's a legend.
He's just crushing light beers all day.
How do you know, love it?
One hell of a lot.
time right now. Yeah.
We were trying to line him up for an interview in Vegas. I don't know
that he's going to be allowed to board a flight in his
state.
Cory Perry, man.
It's
Corey.
Someone had the Infinity Stones.
What is it? Some sort of Marvel thing?
Like you had a different color.
Yeah, I saw that. He had a colored ring on each.
That's a collection now.
Very tough. And Farhand Lulgi.
Great reporter in Vancouver. Longtime
TSN guy.
finally put into words or everyone was trying to explain.
If you're a Canucks or a Flames fan, you're probably a static right now, as you should be.
That has to hurt far more than a sweep.
What of the idea of Canada's team in a North American league is pure nonsense.
I'm happy for Luongo that he'll get a much deserved ring, Maurice and Oliver Ekman-Larsen too.
That said, Connor McDavid's a champion, period.
He's the most talented player in the history of the game, in my opinion, and I do hope he gets his ring someday.
It would be a tragedy for it to never happen.
The fact that some marginal player that's a healthy scratch
gets his name on that thing and gets to call themselves a champion
and 97 doesn't is unfortunate.
That's how it works.
Beyond that, it would have been nice for the 30-year-old droat to have ended
only so that we could stop talking about it.
Otherwise, it's irrelevant.
Back to my vacation, summer and football season, Shades.
Farhan.
Yes, some interesting and valid points in there.
I did see somebody made note that for the first time ever,
someone on Vancouver payroll has won a Stanley Cup and that was OEL who's that got his contract bought out.
Be all expensive year next year for them.
Ooh,
congrats Vancouver.
We showed you some of the drunk stuff in Florida.
I don't know we have anything new here.
This is them,
yeah,
there we go to the beach.
It's pretty cool.
What would they be doing in Edmondson here?
You're just marching this into the wave pool or is it the submarine with the dolphins?
Better from the film.
The visuals are better here.
water slides.
I hope they've got some...
I hope they have some SPF on, though.
Like, I don't want to get my burn.
That's what you're worried about, right?
Yeah.
Not their levers, got it.
Okay.
Tell you what, though, if you're a fan,
how pumped are you hanging at the elbow room?
Oh, man.
Cuch cup is right there.
Bud lights down your throat.
Let's go.
I love that one from the second deck.
I had not seen that.
Just,
I'm not going to be able to pour a half sip out of there.
That's going to be a few leaders.
Yeah.
Oh, man. Unreal.
Okay, we had some news yesterday.
I think Flames fans are feeling better about the Jacob Marks from trade.
Why?
Well, I think the Boston Burns got less for Linus Olmark who won a Vesna two years ago.
He's 31, probably older than you think.
But they got a 25th overall selection.
They have to pay Eunice Corpusallolo, 75% of his salary for the next four years.
And they got Mark Castellek, who is maybe a guy?
Certainly not Kevin Ball.
That is a younger goaltender who won a Vesna a year ago,
and the Bruins got less than the flames got back.
Interesting.
Bruns dropped this right before game seven.
They wanted no piece of any spotlight on this deal.
Just bury it right before a buck drop.
This is the Friday afternoon news jump.
Hello, Steve.
It's Gary in the future.
We could not upstage the Stanley Cup.
I feel, you know, I always like the Swamen Allmark hug.
I wonder, uh, yeah, does Swamen, does Swamen get the rights to that or does Allmark when they move
forward now? Do they in the new backup? Who gets to do it? Whenever they start hugging in Ottawa,
that team can be good, but we're still waiting. Because Swamon and, because Wadar used to do it
with Swamen, if I recall correctly. So I think it's, it's a Swainman property. Okay.
That's why. Chuck was excited, the brother. Yeah. It was the trade. It wasn't.
Jacked about the goal. Yeah, it's great for Matthew, whatever, but. Yeah, we got a goalie now. Look out.
Got Lainous.
Dylan DeMello re-upped by the Winnipeg Jets just ahead of free agency.
Really good fit with Morrissey, the Calgary boy.
And that's a deal that's going to get some value for the Jets.
You've got to think about this in the new universe.
Four years, the cap might be a hundred million bucks when he's done that deal.
4.9 is Peanuts.
Well done Chevy.
Peanuts.
Peanuts.
Capital P.
P.
got something that I can't read.
Let's fire it up and see what it is.
Sorry, it's been a very busy morning.
Casey Middlestad signed a three-year extension with Colorado.
5.75.
The second line center after they swapped out Ryan Johansson
and immediately bring him in the fold.
He was good, maybe not great for the abs, but young.
And starting to look like the NHL or the Sabres were waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for.
Not a lot of Casey's out there.
There's some girl cases now.
That's what's happening.
Yeah.
I'll make a comeback.
Think?
Well, he performs, yeah.
Yeah.
Well, good luck, Casey.
Yeah.
Keep flying the flag, Casey.
And the sunshine band.
Make the other Casey's proud, would you?
Yeah.
Chris Tannave, apparently the stars,
trying to get this done before July 1.
Yeah, there'll be a lot of teams interested.
Can the stars make it work with the cap?
they still have some nearly $20 million between Ben and Sagan seasons left, which is tough.
But everything else in that roster is pretty damn efficient.
They also want to bring back Matthew Shane.
It was great there in his role.
Huh.
We'll see.
And Phoenix continues to be a laughing stock.
We love to see it.
That shiasty loser cheap owner now has said he's walked away from the franchise.
Which fans and Phoenix were saying, why didn't you do this two years ago?
We could have kept our team, you asshole.
500 million
that's why
it's a quote there
yeah
and his response was
500 million
good to see he put up a fight
yeah I really
just
oh word whatever it takes
we're gonna get this
the land auction
isn't happening
all right
no no but first it was the
we've done everything
we can in the market
the social media guys
just go on full
cat computer meeting
and then it was like
yeah we're good
I'm done here
I got my 500
I don't know
I'm here
I got a place in L.A
people don't like me here
I'm gonna go
screw
people at a contract somewhere else.
The Dutch play today.
Euro is continuing when the Dutch play, we see scenes like this.
This is not in Holland.
This is in Germany.
What is going on?
This is group play.
This is even a knockout match red.
I was telling Jack, I just want to go wear orange and be in the party.
Some guys are going to come up and speak Dutch to me.
I'm like, I don't have a clue, but I love you.
I thought that was the moss pit.
Not the moss pit?
No, no, a little cheerier there.
You don't know that.
That place cleared out for the highlight show last night.
Who we?
Yeah, there was that, eh?
So Sportsnet, we're going to send our show.
We're going to send Sportsnet Central on the road for the Stanley Cup final to the city where the game is not being played.
Who!
They're all weak.
As Letterman would say, the genius switch has no off position.
When they cut to that fucking parking lot with no one.
in it. I laughed out loud.
Yeah. Some guys hold up a cat. And now we go to
Cannavanka, who are live
outside the arena. A couple of zombies.
I mean, it's a joke, right?
It's like, oh shit, was the game in Miami?
We're in Edmondson.
Well, you know, it was going to cost a little more money.
I mean, oh, we'll just keep doing it in Edmonton.
So great.
No sour grapes.
Now, if they'd won, it would have been jumping, but.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Vladdy hit the longest
home run of his career
last night.
Good.
They lost their sixth or seventh in a row.
Oh no.
And Vladdy launches one.
Watch us and clear the monster.
Oh.
That was 471 feet.
It's the third longest home run this season
outside of Coors,
where the thin air and the
thick bats, all that.
It's thick air there.
Coors.
Six to two.
they were up. Yeah, they were. They promptly lost 7-6. Oh, damn. Yeah.
Fuck. Go a little better in Baltimore, Dean. Check out this fan making a catch for the ages.
Foul ball, no big deal, right? Nailer wax one down the line, way foul.
And caught by the one guy up there. And who's got a drink and a phone in his hand. What?
Give that guy contract.
Hey, yeah.
Got it in the hat?
You got it.
No, no, he just barehanded it.
That's insane.
He had his Tim Horton's peach drink and his phone in his left hand.
That was a summer cooler or something on.
Let's get to some dumb shit.
The cows are running with cyclist, Dean.
I know you're a big cyclist.
You're out there for a little rip yesterday.
And, uh, a little fomo there.
Cow rat.
Now the problem is just a bridge coming up here
and that cow's got a good head of steam now.
Oh.
Cows are so stupid.
They're really dumb.
They are so dumb and so tasty.
Get on my plate, you dumb idiot.
You idiot.
Get into that hamburger thing.
That was what.
That's commitment.
That's parkour.
My dad used to rail on how dumb cows.
I was a fucking slabhead, stupid,
but dumb, it was one of us.
And they are, they are so goddamn stupid,
but so tasty.
It's a dilemma.
It's conundrum.
Let's move to some other two-wheeled objects.
This guy's having a rip on the railroad line,
which is pretty balsy.
If you're going to be dumb, you got to be tough.
There's the part where the cars drive over.
There's the railroad ties in the middle.
Look at the.
Boing.
Yeah, that's not gonna.
How don't...
The next day is it.
Went a long way.
Got a crock for you, Dean.
But this one's all into disguises.
Look at this.
Kind of just looks like a muddy.
Oh, there you see him.
Watch how quick they attack.
Got it.
He was all camouflaged in there.
Yes.
Nothing to see here.
Nothing to see.
It looks like a log.
in the bog and I'm dead
nah
I scared you right
I got you good there didn't I
oh you thought your leg was gone
didn't you peat your pants
I think you did
I think you did
uh someone invented some sort of a launcher
that throws you in the lake
huh
I'm a bust that
yeah I'm okay with this
how many stories up are we getting here
three
I don't see anyway
your legs out in New York is all right
go wrong
Oh, man.
We're done right?
Perfect.
I feel like I want to build one of those this summer for the lake.
Who do you want to launch?
Because I know you're not doing this.
We'll go with the Draggers cabin.
Dregs.
What's Dregs done to deserve that?
I think it's fun.
I think you'd want to be on it.
Yeah.
You get the wetsuit on as you're not going to belly flop as hard.
That's probably the move.
Good time.
It looks fun, but does look fun.
Do you guys remember the guy that was taking the, the scooters
To the shin, like shinies.
He was just hammering shins.
He compiled his top 10 shinies of the year.
I'm here for this.
Forgive me, Father, for I've shin.
These are my top 10 shinners of the month.
Oh.
Oh, those are the trailer hits this.
That's just, what are we doing?
He's always one lifting weights?
What is this?
Oh, the trailer hits.
No.
No.
Oh.
Sledgehammer.
Oh.
Come on.
Oh, geez.
This is like waking up an oiler fan today.
That hurts.
Man.
And why does he need to have the barbell?
Does that have to be part of it?
This is this gig.
I don't know that he's got anything else in life, Dean.
Man, the trailer hitch.
Oh.
No good.
No good.
Just brutal.
Because we've all done it.
Parking a lot.
You're walking along.
And you're down like there's sniper fire.
Yeah.
Oh.
Oh.
The roundabout is that's commitment.
Clack, clack, clack.
Let's move.
Next one, Dean, you missed it the other day when I don't know what you're doing.
You're doing something.
We were doing something else.
It's fine.
Good on you.
Probably get a week off of that.
You sent me home.
Yeah, which was needed because you'd worked hard.
I would prefer if you left.
Honestly, just get out of here.
It'll make me happy if I know you don't have to do two shows today.
Here's what you missed that day.
It's our boy with a bow tie.
He's back.
No, I saw this guy.
It's the same thing.
It's just different meals.
What a beauty?
What was he eating last time?
Oh, he had a huge, weird blue-colored one.
It looked like a gummy, but it was a live, wormy thing.
What a classy chap, eh?
Like that guy.
I think I said he doesn't have his elbows on the table.
He's got his bow tie on.
I like the picture in the background.
You let that guy take your daughter to prom, right?
Is that like Napoleon in the background there?
Oh.
He's seven out.
I used to know.
Can't have nice things.
And finally, if I asked you, who wears seven for the flames?
Kevin Ball!
The answer!
Ball!
This hamster knows.
Can we do this song for his goal song?
I know he's a defensive d-man.
We got a couple of years.
Throw this on the old energy board.
The answer was balls!
your Pinda report on Tuesday, dude.
It's got a lot going there.

So he's gone, that's it?
Just poof?
So what's the dilemma?
What's happening with the travel plans?
Don't think any of the things that were.
promised as far as access and setups are happening.
He'll have his laptop and some Wi-Fi.
Yeah, maybe.
He'll be doing shows.
Yeah.
Yeah, make sure he takes his own phone so that he can hotspot through his own phone.
Yeah.
Jack, are you there?
Yes, I'm here.
Can you get me up the speed with what's happening?
I don't really know what's happening.
I think there was this idea that we were going to be at the sphere for the draft
that doesn't.
Radio Row.
Yeah.
Radio Row.
It's going to be a big deal.
Yeah.
But I think we'll just be at the pool with chicks and bikinis instead.
So I don't think Ryan's too upset.
No, he's not.
Well, Godspeed to him.
Well, and in fairness, well, I shouldn't say that.
I mean, if, you know, I'm going to sneeze.
So if you're pushing the butt and push it because I'm going to,
Well, we haven't done the Betway Betts.
We got to, what do you mean the mute button?
I can't mute your mic from here.
How was it?
I didn't do it.
I'm fighting it.
Oh, I see.
You got to let it go, man.
Just like them, just like farts.
Got to let them go.
Got to let them go.
So you're not going to Vegas then.
No, sir.
No.
14.
No.
No.
RJ left already?
Oh, yeah.
He's pickled.
Yeah, he left last night than the Kachucks.
He's pickled.
Yeah, he's buckled.
Now, do we know, does Pinder have a room?
Do they have hotel rooms to stay in?
Ryan, do you have a hotel room?
Of course.
He was never going.
I know you were never going.
They were texting and calling and
I couldn't get the message.
No.
Well, you're not big on that anyway.
Oh.
On doing those things.
No.
Jack?
Yeah.
out.
RJ took the gear, right, because, and I think we've talked about this, when it comes to
technical stuff, Pinder, not the guy.
I used to think Andrew Walker was the worst, like the worst.
Pinder's right there with him as far as being technically unsavvy.
When he would show up to our live shows, he wouldn't forget the power cord.
He wouldn't have just like literal, like base level.
stuff. Does he have everything he needs? Yeah, he just has to show up. He just needs to show up.
Should be fine then, but in Vegas, you can't even rely on that. No, no. And it's end with RJ.
I mean, he's going to be at the Rippers. They can get him away from Sniffer's row long enough to do
the shows. It'd be great. Imagine, because the strippers in Vegas are a little different level.
Old RJ. Side trapped.
going to lose his mind for RJ.
Let's do the bet,
the Betway bets.
What do we got there?
Did we get to,
we're going to take a look at the cup odds for next year.
Outta boy,
Betway.
Get the Betway app.
Get it on your phone.
Get on your,
whatever,
your tablet,
your laptop,
whatever it is,
but get on it.
And if you're creating a new account,
look at this.
That QR code on your screen
will get you a free bet up to $200
box if your first bet loses.
Place your bet.
No minimum amount required.
And if that bet loses,
you'll get a refund up to $200.
which you can then spin into another bet on your favorite sports.
This offer only available outside of Ontario.
So there it is.
The early odds for next year's Stanley Cup champion,
the odds on favorite according to Betway,
the Edmonton Oilers, plus 800.
Carolina, Dallas, Florida, plus 900, then Colorado,
then New Jersey, the Rangers,
Vancouver, Toronto, Vegas.
thoughts on that list and its order um the the jersey one's the one that stands out i know they got
marks them and they're smarter than i am to figure this stuff out but that's the only team that was
didn't make the playoffs and is still they have them on par with the president's trophy winners from
this year yeah so that's a big jump congrats in new jersey and this this is going to sound like
like anti-oilers speak i just i i i do not
The Oilers is the odds on favorite.
The only thing that they can,
who are you going to pick, I guess, Florida again?
They've got the best player in the world, so there's,
there's probably a lot of stock put into that.
And it's, I mean, it's minimal 800, 900,
900 plus 900.
Yeah.
I think we've already talked about on the show.
I think it's very difficult.
Florida managed to do it.
Get back there a second time.
they win after losing and maybe the Oilers can pull it off.
But you just, we've just seen it.
You need so many things to go right.
Very difficult.
Need all of it to go right.
By Pinder.
How did he find a Panthers jersey?
I don't know.
It's a Bure.
He might have had that, you know.
That strikes me as a jersey he may have had.
Clearly he did because he warrants.
Well, yeah, I just wanted if he,
went one of my buddies.
One of my buddies says, I need a buddy.
So there you go.
That's the Betway Betts.
Good luck, Edmonton.
Odds on favorite already next year looking up.
So turn that frown upside down.
Yeah, yeah, best thoughts.
Best thoughts for next year.
Betway, create your new account, get the QR code.
And if your first bet doesn't come through for you, you'll get the little bonus back.
So you can get back in and do it one more time, only available outside.
of Ontario.
So tomorrow's show it's going to be Pinder from Vegas.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
What are you doing?
I'm going to relax.
Are you going to be on the show?
No.
No.
Because I'll go on.
So it's just, is that the, is that what we're, because Pinder, it was much like that
show last week.
Why did, why did you go?
I prefer if you did.
He basically told me to leave.
He basically said Wednesday, Thursday,
He basically told me Wednesday, Thursday to beat it tomorrow and Thursday show.
He's got it handled.
Is that, Jack?
Is that accurate?
So Rhett and I are, uh, yeah, you guys are off.
I don't know if he has it handled.
I've been asking like what's going on who's coming on the shows.
There's no answer.
Like, there's just an expectation that Frank will join.
Um, maybe some other flames guys.
But yeah, it might just be Ryan by himself.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Good times.
With this all done.
Yeah.
Did you, did you enjoy this run?
I didn't like, I wasn't captivated by it, but I'll tell you what, game seven made up for a lot.
Yeah.
I wasn't captivated by the whole playoff.
A lot of the series I felt were flat, even though, right?
Like, I didn't think the hockey was spectacular.
But I really enjoyed last night's game.
Yeah.
I told my kid, because I brought it up a number, number of times.
She's gotten very into it.
And I said, are you ready for game sessions?
Yes, she was all ready to.
It could be a long, long time before we see this again,
where it's a game seven in the cup final,
one game winner take all.
And it did.
I thought, I thought it was exciting.
Yeah.
Sometimes, and we've talked to it,
sometimes game sevens can really leave you wanting.
It was back and forth and there were scoring chances.
I thought it was a hell of a game seven.
And yeah, if you're an oily fan, then it stinks.
but it was making no mistake.
We were cheering against the Oilers.
It's kind of what we do here.
It was kind of secondary to having the team that you want to win be in there.
There was, I at least found that there was emotional investment.
It was not like watching Colorado or Vegas or whoever else maybe would have been there.
The Oilers, they kind of bring out some emotion.
And I said it yesterday.
Do you win?
that you could have been maybe cheering for this?
Do you wish you could have been on board with all the other people that seemed to get on the oiler bandwagon?
I don't know.
I was on the bandwagon the other way.
There was still plenty of,
there was butterflies and anxious moments last night.
For me personally,
I'm an alumnist from Florida, too.
So I didn't some attachment to that team.
My middle guy cheers for the Panthers and he was pumped.
So even if it wasn't Edmonton,
there would have been an emotional.
attachments to the Panthers
claiming the game 7 for our family.
Yeah. Well, congrats to
the Florida Panthers. Beautiful.
Congrats to Matthew
Cichuk and Sam Bennett.
Gustav Forsling.
There were a couple
names that's wasted that cup that I can.
It's like, oh, who are you?
You're a Bjorn fought.
I thought you were an L.A. King.
And a cup winner, right?
Cup winner. Yeah,
Cup winner. Congratulations.
Congratulations.
All right, Jack, how do you feel?
Do we, uh, yeah, good job.
Better obligations?
Good.
Feel we did it?
We did it.
Yes, sir.
What's your plan this week, boom?
Are you on the road?
Are you on the road again?
Well, this clears it up because I was unsure of when I was going to be.
I have to go back to, uh, my, uh, my place of birth for an event this weekend.
And I wasn't sure because, uh, not a lot of internet, some spotty internet areas between here
and then through Saskatchewan and into Manitoba.
It's not exactly wall-to-wall-wall 5G.
But with Pinder giving me the heave hall for a couple days,
then yeah, I'll pop my head in from back there somewhere at some point.
Big event coming up.
Give it to you.
Give it a big one.
Wild.
We got a hall booked.
Oh, baby.
We got parogis and sausage showing up at midnight.
Don't, shit.
I got the liquor license.
I got to go pick up the liquor.
It's a big deal, buddy.
She's going to go see Snoop.
Don't know if I'll see beef.
I'm not sure I'm going to see beef, but I'll probably see Snoop.
Yeah, and the boys.
All right, everybody, appreciate you.
Enjoy your day.
Pinder, we think, live from Vegas tomorrow,
as we'll be doing our coverage.
Here's the thing.
We are going to be live from the draft.
Flames Pick at 9 on Friday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
live from the draft in some way, shape, or form.
we'll have exclusive coverage for you from the draft in Vegas coming up.
Appreciate you.
See you, buddies.
