Starting point is 00:00:12 A good day, everybody. Welcome to the show. It's Barnburner on a Tuesday, the May of the 28th. May. Where'd you go? Where have you been? See you. As we get ready for the month of June.
Starting point is 00:00:23 The month of June and how many oiler games will we see in the month of June? Because they will play those Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday is the 31st, correct? If you're just listening, that sound. is me rubbing my hands in in hope and anticipation of that number being potentially zero right it could be uh no is there's 31 days oh yeah there is yeah it didn't look good well it did it did for a while the start was very good no that means it didn't look good oh i see what you say yeah yeah yeah yeah It didn't look good because they looked good. I'm like, oh.
Starting point is 00:01:20 Yeah. And what is Dallas doing with their starts? Not great. Starts the series, starts the games. Let's start on time as they say. We ready? Boys, are we ready to go here? What's the, what the age?
Starting point is 00:01:35 As yes, because I look here to know, Zach Hyman off his hip and in at 202. And then McDavid, very Hyman-esque goal right at the doorstep. at 737. It felt like floodgates. I actually said out loud, I don't need to watch this shit in my house to whoever was listening to me. The last thing I need to do is watch this shit all night. But then the Oilers decided,
Starting point is 00:02:03 you know what? We're good, hey? 2 nothing, 20 minutes. I was with you. I was, I watched. I'm like, oh,
Starting point is 00:02:13 okay. I knew they were. playing well but i don't know i was hoping that maybe and then i went and made a snack and the shoveler texts me three two dallas yeah what and then i knew i was invested when they gave up that shitty late goal against to let them tie it i i m f to them oh i was i was uh i i hit my table yes and what what's what's the problem what what what i well that's it's a shit goal They were running around. I was like, you just fucking knew it.
Starting point is 00:02:49 You just knew it. You handed them that one. You gave them the goal. You have to be yelling and banging the table. Is that really good? Yes, it is actually. But then they found a way the stars did in the third period. Now that goal there, is that a bad goal?
Starting point is 00:03:05 No, because he absolutely ripped it. Okay. I think he's too deep, but I don't think the coverage on the defensive zone coverage was very good. Yeah. Again, no, listen. Really questioning whether he should have had that first Robertson. He was on a T and he absolutely ripped it. But here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:03:27 You can give up that goal, but then you have to make a save on a different one. Okay. You know what I mean? It's the you want, it's the Bobrovsky thing. It's like, well, any good, well, it's any good goal, you want to win the Stanley Cup. It's like, you can get scored on on a good play. Yeah. But at some point, you, and you.
Starting point is 00:03:45 need to make a save on a good play. He did make a save off of Marchment on that breakaway. I think at that time it was already three to two. So he made a save there. We had a good pad save on Dushain, who kind of cut in, went to the net, made a pad save there. But interesting game, man. Connor McDavid says one of the worst stretches of hockey
Starting point is 00:04:10 that they've had all playoff. And he's probably right. Is it human nature? Is it hockey? Is it youth? We're on one side, like you said, you're not ready. And the Oilers come out gangbusters. And you knew they were going to.
Starting point is 00:04:23 It's their first home game of the series. And the crowds wound up and this whole thing. And it sure of shit, they come out and they score early and then score again. But like so many teams, I don't, it's not just an oiler thing. It's hard to sustain that for 60 minutes. You don't see many games at all this playoff where one team looks decidedly better. And they just run at home. We were better.
Starting point is 00:04:45 all night. It seems like there's always some stretches where the other team, and maybe that's because they're good teams in the playoffs, but teams are going to be heard from at some point during that game to make things interesting. Unless you really put them away, like you said, and the floodgates stay
Starting point is 00:05:01 open and they get scored on. And that's, is it you? Well, yeah, it was, you were Pender, but it had to be you because Pender wasn't here. Yeah. Huh? Had to be me. Whatever it is you're about to say, It had to be me.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Was it the Rangers that have 34 come from behind wins? Yesterday. They come from behind wins. 52% now of all of their combined playoff and regular season wins have come in from behind fashion. And you have seen, we've seen Dahl. We've seen various teams do it now. It's a different game and it's been trending that way where leads used to be done. It's over.
Starting point is 00:05:43 Yeah. Make you pop. or head to bed, whatever you got to do, because you're not coming back from a two-gold deficit. These guys are too good now. They're too good, or is it commitment to? No, no, it's not commitment. It's hard.
Starting point is 00:06:04 I get an ass all the time with kids. Teach them how to play D. It's like, yeah, yeah. Is that the best defense? Go get the damn pocket, get it moving. Like in the old, days you used to be like yeah we're going to hunker in for all the battle lines and you're not going to get to the net and i'm going to tie you up and i'm going to hook you and i'm going to
Starting point is 00:06:24 hold you against the wall and then trip you and i'm going to slash you that you can't do that shit anymore so to be good defensively you block shots you close gaps you take away time and space and you get the damn thing moving the other way hard to hold on to it's hard to hold on to and because there's a lot of skill though on the other side on that same tone sorry just to finish yeah they don't kids don't work on that no it's not a point of pride you don't see a lot of instagram accounts or twitter or what else of facebook is yeah you got it yeah whatever the social media things mm-hmm that have highlight clips of two block shots and guys controlling the gap yes yes right you don't have a lot and that influences every kid that goes to the rink nowadays because
Starting point is 00:07:20 they're going oh yeah i'm gonna zippity do do da show them how it's done they are not taking chris tannib highlights are not the rage not really the rage it's the michigan it's not so much the uh the shot block i saw one thing this morning i think it was kevin woodley actually uh who we used to have on the old show he's uh doing some obviously he's doing some stuff I think it was sports net, whatever, but he was showing that however many years, Darnell Nurse is into his career. And he shows the gap control or whatever you want.
Starting point is 00:07:52 So it's a two on two or whatever. So nurses just inside the blue line, then he's at the top of the circle, then he's at the bottom of the circle, then he's on the top of the crease. You're going to have to step up on this guy at some point, or you're just kind of like, you're like everybody else.
Starting point is 00:08:07 Jay McKee, just coming right back in. I can block it anyway. So whatever you decide. Yeah. The goal is like, Do you want to make a play or get the F out of the way? Because now you're screening me and I can't see shit.
Starting point is 00:08:18 So NERS is taking a beating today among oiler fans. His numbers, 15 games, no goals, two helpers minus 12. I don't. It's hard. You don't like Pile it on, but I said this about him last year and the year before. I don't think he's a good defenseman. And if he's not going to put up points, he's not a shut he he's
Starting point is 00:08:44 I just I don't see it I never did see it I never saw it when they said Norris he had 15 goals or something yeah okay I don't I don't see it if he's better than Tyler Myers you know what's great retro is sometimes things in the world just happen
Starting point is 00:09:04 a certain way we start talking about Darnell nurse and poor play of all the players there's a few but we start talking about Darnell Nurse and his minus 12 in 15 games and all of this. And look what it does. Just like from out of the ether, as if he knew, Ryan Pinder joins the show somehow magically from out of left field. Hi, guys.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Were your ears burning, spidey senses tingling? Did you know that we were talking about deplorable play by your buddy Darnell Nurse? well i just knew that it would be a great show today and i wasn't really sure about when to come on and then i got an alert that barn burner was starting and the title of today's show is oilers suck and i thought you know it would be rude of me not to jump in yeah um a crazy game i went i went from sour to excited to then sour again and then nervous and then i mean there's a lot of things that we can talk about from this game there's uh the goaltender, the defensive play, they got two power plays.
Starting point is 00:10:14 They were upset. They weren't getting power plays. They wanted that to be evened out and leveled off. And it did. I guess curious a little bit about the pulled goalie in a one goal game with two minutes left. I don't know. I guess that's, there must be some kind of analytical thing in that because we're seeing it happen earlier and earlier. But it happened fast.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Ben wins the face off against dry saddle. It goes to hasten and he puts it in. the drama was over. How much of this game did you end up watching from where you're at? Pretty much the whole thing, to be honest. We had one of the hyenas was cheering for Edmonton, because he knows it pissed me on. Another one cheering for Dallas.
Starting point is 00:10:57 And then we had two other visitors. What's cousin who's trying to make it as an actor in L.A. And then her bestie. And we were three Dallas to Edmonton. So it was rowdy back and forth. There was taunting. and yeah like two nothing you're like i don't know that this series isn't over if dallas wants to look like this edmonton just did what they wanted dallas couldn't get a puck to the net and then you're
Starting point is 00:11:19 like okay well we've seen them adjust before and come out and look better but no one expected just the onslaught that they brought in the second and uh we were eating dinner and the one kid was yelling updates from the the tv room like they scored again you're like are you kidding me that's got to be three and three minutes and at that point it just felt like okay okay, it's going to be tough to, you know, if you're the oilers, get over the hump here. Sure, you can tie it, but are you ever going to get over blowing a two-goal lead where you basically had a period to do whatever you wanted? First period shots, 10-3 Oilers, scores 2-0, and they could have been up by 4 quite easily. Then in the second, it goes from 10-3 and 2-0, shots 16-7 Dallas, 3-2-stars lead.
Starting point is 00:12:04 And it makes for exciting, unless you're really invested, and I guess if you're an oil, fan, it really stinks. But there's drama in just every game we watch. You even go to that Rangers Florida series, that thing. It's been decidedly Florida. But the Rangers are up two to one. We've had some overtime games. There's been a little bit of everything so far here in round number three.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Rupert Hince comes back. He ignites Robertson. That has to feel like a bad omen for the, the Edmonton Oilers, because it didn't take very long for those two to find that chemistry that they had again. And like Retro kind of talked about it. People are grilling, at least Oiler fans, are giving it to Skinner for the first Robertson goal
Starting point is 00:12:50 because it's from well out, but he's got a bit of a Bouchard screen there. And as Red said, it's a howitzer. It's going to go in. But then you have to make some other saves. And it's another night. I don't know when you look at Skinner. I don't know, I haven't even looked that closely to see
Starting point is 00:13:06 what the appetite is for a change. or if they're Jack Campbell watching or what it is. But four on 21 in the playoffs, it's not going to get it done very often. And the last one's no good. You know, like he's past that point of getting the benefit of the doubt because he's,
Starting point is 00:13:22 this has already happened, the games where you can kind of, well, this one wasn't very good. That one wasn't great. Four on 21, it's under, well, it's well under, but his safe percentage continues to be under nine. You're putting your team in a shit spot
Starting point is 00:13:37 to try and win. and with any amount of regularity with that kind of net mining. The winner is no good. I'm sorry. Like there's just nurse can play it better. That pair gets hemmed in. But down on the broadcast here, Hendrik Lundquist is on TNT,
Starting point is 00:13:52 and he says as soon as Skinner reaches out with the blocker, he's lost his seal. And Robertson's just waiting for him to make a move. He does and he exploits him. But I mean, what are you worried about there? I know darn else's, darnal nurse looks like he's stretching out front.
Starting point is 00:14:05 But like what are we doing, but that's the read of goalie's got to. make nerd it's one or the other right like nurses trying to take away the past you got to know you're gonna try and make take it you don't have to worry about the past that shouldn't be i'm i'm gonna tell the young kids all the time let the goal he make the safe that so skinner all he has to do there is think about stop and robertson he's always got to hold his post yeah yeah that's the shitty goal. Like nurse doesn't have to, nurse doesn't even
Starting point is 00:14:38 know where the guy in front of the net is. He's staring at the buck doing nothing. But regardless, you can't let, a goal I can't let the guy score from that point. Agreed. Yeah. And so what we see is a team that has this incredible high end in the oilers where they can steamroll the shit
Starting point is 00:14:54 out of you. But then again, they might just allow four on 22. And their second pair is just dog shit. They put CC and Nurse back together a nightmare for that pair. 13 million bucks flush. There's talk now that, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:09 could Stetcher and Broberg be any worse than what you've seen? And those guys, it's like entry level deal and like 800 grand. Like it's, it's tough for those three guys. It's Skitter and the second pair. The rest of that roster looks good enough to win a cup. And on the go-ahead goal in the second period,
Starting point is 00:15:26 the third goal, it's Deiarnay, who just, he pisses it away. And then it's Johnston at the, side of the net the thing about this is and people are in the oh you guys jinks in it you're jinks in it there's no jinx in it because it's impossible to dictate momentum right even in the course of this game let alone from game to game if you know who's who was putting money down on on dallas at the end of the first period that was a tough sell that was a tough sell right this is the oilers they're they are a very good team they
Starting point is 00:16:03 They look very comfortable. They're going to cruise. And then I don't know what happened. If it's just human nature or if it's the stars kind of coming to the realization that they better get it going. Stars are six and one on the road this postseason. That's Vegas. That's Colorado. That's Edmonton.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Those are tough. Three good home teams. Especially Evanston. Really good teams. Once they stopped chitting themselves at the start of the year, over the second half of the season, they had one of the best home records in all of hockey. so I don't know. It's,
Starting point is 00:16:36 I'm not naive enough to think that the Oilers are done. They'll find some way. There's no, just so I know, between us girls, there's a goaltending controversy, but there's no way they do a Pickard Campbell thing game for, right? We're not a bad. No Campbell. I was looking this morning.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Jack Campbell's name is like the number two trending topic in Canada or something like this. Oh yeah, people, because he's there. They're like, hey, we saw him doing high fives down the, down the hallway. He's there. You could just put him in. Oh, boy. I don't know if that's it.
Starting point is 00:17:14 Well, yeah. If you've spent all year in the American League, basically, and I've not been able to usurp Calvin Pickard who clears waivers every single year, that's a hell of a spot to put a guy in. It would wreak of desperation. And Pickard was fine last series. If you need to switch goal as you can. Is this, was this, I'm trying to think,
Starting point is 00:17:35 was this Skinner performance at the same level as the one last round against Vancouver that prompted the change? That goal, that last goal is. Probably, right? Yep. Yep. I'd need to go back and look and see exactly what the- But again, one of those things were,
Starting point is 00:17:51 I think the last time I was, I didn't know if they would make the change. I think I, I'm trying to remember. I think I said, oh, I wouldn't make a change because I don't think that Skinner was the do-all-end-all of, what ailed the Oilers. I don't think last night he did himself any favors or his team. You're up to nothing.
Starting point is 00:18:13 You're up to nothing with 50 minutes left. You can say, oh, well, that's too much time so the other team gets to get going. No, no, no. The Oilers should be a, put a stake in you type of organization. Their high-end stuff should be going out there and ending this. It should get to three. It should get to four. And they should go, yeah, you don't want nothing to do with us.
Starting point is 00:18:36 You guys start thinking about next game. Like they shouldn't allow Dallas to even go into the second period only down by two. When you got a team reeling and Dallas was horseshit, you got to score and put him away. Yeah, two nothing in that in that first period. Clearly it had to be. They were not even on the same. It wasn't even close. Yeah, they were shell shock.
Starting point is 00:19:01 I just look back. The Skinner game that prompted them to go to Pickard, obviously, was game three in the Vancouver series. He allows four on 15 and gets pulled after 40 minutes. Pickard faces three shots in the third and doesn't let one in. So I'm kind of with you. I would say this, though. Again, we don't know the room.
Starting point is 00:19:23 And I'm not trying to say that there is turmoil in the room. But those guys might trust Pickard better. And sometimes just having a goalie that you trust can matter. Now, what am I basing that comment on? Nothing. Other than maybe, you know, other than they played well in front of Pickard in games four and five against Vancouver, right? That's the only thing I'm saying is that they played pretty damn good defensively. And that might be a team that needs a gentle reminder that, hey, there's two ends here.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Let's make sure we're, we're playing both sides. I don't know. You're searching for answers. Again, you said desperation. It does seem a little bit desperate to me. Yeah. And it did last round, but it's, sure. So, you know, you know you can go to it and it's not going to completely, you know, implode your teeth.
Starting point is 00:20:18 You switched to picture and you did it before. You also did it after a game three where you lost at home. Same, same, same. No one's going to freak out. I have something for you. I have a little video here because I saw this come up last night. And jog, well, couldn't help it jog my memory. The stars in that second period scored three goals in a span of three minutes and 33 seconds.
Starting point is 00:20:40 That's fast. That is their fastest three goals. Oh, I got to have him. He's going to need to be here. He's watching. He just turned his camera. All right. Fastest three goals during a playoff contest in team history.
Starting point is 00:20:59 That is since. 2020. I'm not sure if, you know, there was a first round series in the in the, whatever, the lockdown, in the bubble at Rogers place. I believe it was game six. Flames were up three.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Nothing. We need this? Oh, same team. On to the stick of Corey Perry. Back out, shot by Hayeskin, and he scores. Here's Hayeskin. Keeps it alive. Gariotov scores. Who replaces Janmark in the lineup for Dallas tonight. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:32 And the stars tie the game. Lindell from the left point at the flex-in off the stick. Got to the left point for Hayskinin. And then across Guriot, he's one up. Puck is loose. They score for three Dallas. Hayskinan in with a shot. Again, Reddard looking for the puck.
Starting point is 00:21:48 They score. Joe Pavelski. One flame back, Gierdano. Gureano shoots. He scores. A hat trick for Dennis Gurionov. Keevi Ranta. And now they score.
Starting point is 00:22:01 A delayed penalty is going to be called and is Gurionov again, his fourth of the game. But the big guys got to make sure they get on the score sheet if you're the Dallas stars. A stunning turnaround here at Edmonton tonight after Anton Houdobin allowed three early goals before the Stars had a shot at a champ. Dallas comes back to score the next seven. Three nothing before the Stars had a shot on net. roar back to score seven unanswered and eliminate. And that was the end of Brian Elliott? No, that was Talbot.
Starting point is 00:22:41 Talbot, Talbot. I knew Elliot felt wrong. Elliot was the Anaheim series years prior where there's still a state of decrease. And then poor Dave Riddick, that was his first ever playoff of Ferrets. He came in. He was. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:53 Yeah. After Talbot got yarded. That was the end of Talbot. He wasn't bad here. that series, that game, an exception. Now that was where he got, is that the one where he got pulled? And then they were going to put him back in, but he had equipment failure.
Starting point is 00:23:11 He was in. And by then, Riddick had led him two more or something like that. The video showed that he was in the net at the end of the game. Yeah, I think, uh, oh,
Starting point is 00:23:19 not sure. So that was three in 357. Last night was three in three 33. So it's, uh, there you go. Jeez. Just for some context.
Starting point is 00:23:29 for you. Griana, can shoot it? Where is he these days? I think that was somebody's like, that's the last goal he ever scored in his life. We've never seen him since. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:40 So, I mean, that's, it's exciting. It's exciting. It's exciting. Makes you hope. Makes you wish.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Yeah. But I feel like, I feel like we're now basically guaranteed an oiler win in game four, just with how this playoff is gone, just almost across the board. I don't know. there's no guarantees.
Starting point is 00:24:00 We might be finally seeing it. As you said too, more, have a better start, Dallas. Yeah, for a series for a game, be ready.
Starting point is 00:24:12 They were also horseshipped the game before. It was an Edmonton opportunity to win game two, I think. Yeah. The way they played the first 40 minutes, I thought it was in Edmonton, you know,
Starting point is 00:24:26 a lot like the, the Panthers Rangers where it's like I think Florida has held the edge but they're behind Edmond didn't hold the edge the whole game yesterday obviously but I thought in game two they held
Starting point is 00:24:41 the edge in play didn't have a good third I thought last night obviously they come out get the lead and they just don't put them away they don't put them away Oilers are 0 and 4 in this playoff when the game is tied after 2
Starting point is 00:24:57 Really? Wow. Last night would have been one of them because it was 3-3. They scored late there in the second period. But that's also not the hallmark of how to get it done in the postseason. Not ideal. They didn't come back on a ton, too, right? Like we saw Vancouver in game one clawback.
Starting point is 00:25:21 We saw even in the game seven they eliminated Vancouver. They were running away with it. They've got to look out of gas and they still crater for two in the final eight minutes or eight and a half minutes. Like I, yeah, they haven't really been putting stuff to bed to Red's point. Like they have not been able to salt away close games with any ease. Go stars, go. I guess is what we need to go out there. Go.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Go. Dallas. Dallas go. Go. Yeah. So who were the clowns, one is your kid. Who was cheering for Dallas at your thing last night? One each.
Starting point is 00:26:03 One each. Believe it or not. Yeah. Just. You have some other person, some other friend over there cheering for all the oil. My wife's bestie is anti-oilers, which is great. And then her, my wife's cousin is also cheering Dallas. And my wife is saying, oh, I was from Alberta.
Starting point is 00:26:24 So, yeah, she thinks that's good. She can talk to Frank. Oh, my gosh, gracious. Yeah, she doesn't work for Boston pizza either. It's a weird take. You see that? Oh, yeah. Just gratuitous.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Yeah. Just brutal. I love the brute. I can get down with a, with, but that, that's a bad choice. Like, what are we doing here? What are we doing? Teaming up just got better. We're adding more super fans.
Starting point is 00:26:49 So you've got the Vancouver green guys. You've got, uh, knockoff green guys. Leaf guy with the, uh, the dark guy. That's dark guy, right? Yeah, yeah. The, oh, yeah, I guess, you know what? You probably wouldn't have seen any of this, Warner because you're, you're, you're down.
Starting point is 00:27:03 Boston pizza their campaign is we need a Canadian team. A Canadian team hasn't won the Stanley Cup since, you know, whatever, 90s, whatever the hell it is. Maybe we need to come together as Canadian fans of Canadian teams and root together. So, yeah, Oilers fans and Flames fans getting together and Canuck fans and Lee fans, we're just going to team up for the win. Team victories. The thing is, all the people, all the people that agree are right there in that photo there's five people in the country
Starting point is 00:27:37 that are buying that that's the entire Boston pizza marketing department everyone else is like what are you talking about and they were in the building last night for the they were waving at the crowd and doing that whole thing so clearly planted to sit together and it was a whole Boston pizza I don't think those people are well known enough anyway that they're like so you can plant them in the building and people recognize what's going on this is I think knockoff versions too. That doesn't look like the real green, the real green men. Real dart guy. I don't know about that.
Starting point is 00:28:08 I wonder if it's real dart guy. I feel like he could probably, he'd be all right. You could get him just for free, free ticket and a couple of beer at the intermission. I was going to say, a couple packs of Marlboro season. Let's go. Let's go. He'd be in there.
Starting point is 00:28:25 So what do you've been up to? Pickleball this morning, late lunch or late brunch, I should say, and then you kind of got a hot in the middle of the day. So, yeah. Get some nice naps in. No, but that's all right, sleeping well. Everyone goes to bed early here.
Starting point is 00:28:43 They should do. Dinner at four, bed by eight. Roll up the sidewalks at eight. I recall being there with Boomcat. And not a lot happening for us either. Yeah, where should we go? Let's go out, have a bite to eat. We felt guilty.
Starting point is 00:29:00 It felt like we were keeping the kitchen staff up at like 8 p.m. Were you guys in La Kinta? Is that where you stayed? I think so. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, those little shacks, right, by the golf courses and the... Yeah, a little hut. Yeah. We went to that Mexican place just for a cocktail and some guacamole. A smooth $100 cocktail in guacamole.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Yeah. But it was like, yeah, it was 4.30 and the place was rammed. It was like lined up out of the door. Like, oh, dinner time. Yeah. I know it's 10 to 8. We were wondering, we're really feeling like some sushi. Could we get some? Sure, is this just for two of you then?
Starting point is 00:29:44 Okay, yeah, come on in. You know that feeling in a restaurant when it's cold and empty, and the music is, like, you just hear, there's no ambient noise at all. Seenup has begun. They may as well have put the frigging chairs on top of the tables, is about all it was. But it's okay, you know what?
Starting point is 00:30:03 Totally. I can get down with. that. Yeah. I can get that. I'm not that far away from. Yeah. It's a time and place to go out. Yeah. Yeah. Don't need to get up early. Don't need to stay up late. Don't need a lot of people around. It's perfect. I should be there. You should be here. That's what this should be. Think of all the fun you could have here just railing on Darnell Nurse every day. And I could be down there going to bed at AP. You guys doing doing the Lord's work. Proud of you. Really am. Don't skip Cody Cici either or the GM. There's lots of blame here. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:30:31 CC. Yeah. Uh, message and, well, while you're here, the, uh, the Calgary surge are back at it. Their season is underway. They are 0 and 1, but, uh, they will improve on that. They've got the Scarborough shooting stars. They're 0 and 2. So, so, something's got to give here. Something's got to give.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Tomorrow night, 7 p.m. Win Sport. We've got a table for four courts. Yeah, P.E.P. That's essentially your, that's your vantage point. That picture there. That's what it's going to look like, where you're sitting. from your VIP table to watch the surge
Starting point is 00:31:06 at Winsport tomorrow night. So here's what you got to do. Unreal. Follow Flames Nation. Follow Calgary Surge on your social media and then tag in who you're going to bring to the game with you. You'll be entered to win and then we'll have, I would guess, maybe later today.
Starting point is 00:31:22 Give you a little bit of time to get your life, get your life together and get some people wound up. And head to the surge game tomorrow night over at WinSport, courtesy of our friends at Paybilt. Love it. How about it? Yeah, Jay from Payville, huge hooper and a dimer. Just loves the game.
Starting point is 00:31:40 Is he a hooper and a dimer? Wow, I think he was kind of like, I don't really know what to, like, I don't know where I'm at. And then we went to a game last year. His wife is absolutely all about this team. She's got the jersey. She's got her favorite players. And then I think they ran into the team at an event on the weekend. So it's, it's on.
Starting point is 00:31:58 They are officially hardcore P1 surge fans. It's a great atmosphere. It's a great night. If you've not been, do check it out. Even if you don't win these VIP tickets, not everybody can be a VIP. You can, hey, just buy a ticket and sit in the seats. That'd be all right, too.
Starting point is 00:32:15 It should be raucous. I mean, they had 12,000 at the dome. Yeah. They get, what, three or four at Winsport? It's jumping in there. It's good. They have created a culture at a very short amount of time. They really have.
Starting point is 00:32:28 There's a very staunch following there. sneaky. Well, and hoops, like, who does, like, a lot of kids play basketball. A lot of people love basketball. And they're like, where do you take that enthusiasm? Well, Surge arrives, like, oh, there it is. They know what they're doing. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:32:45 There it is. Two hours, like, bang, bang. That's the other thing. Calvary and Surge, that's what I think. That fits today's life where it's like, I don't need three and a half hours, four hours. Like, get in, get out. Let's cheer and let's move on. Bang, bang.
Starting point is 00:33:00 Bang, bang, indeed. Did you go to a hockey game? Coachella Valley plays tomorrow night. They're opener. I think they got Milwaukee. And they play again Friday. And then there's like a collegiate baseball thing here, kind of like the dogs, but it's a little California league.
Starting point is 00:33:23 And the fellas are really into baseball right now. So unless it's like 45 degrees, we're going to go up some California Penal League. There you go. Like California Penal League. we we had some on the on the pinda report yesterday it just kind of i didn't realize we've not seen a lot of jays content and i don't know if it's kind of slipped slipped through the cracks somehow but ordinarily you're right at the front of the of the fan bus when it comes to the jays we're here about guerrero this and uh you know whoever i mean it's just it's a steady stream of jays
Starting point is 00:34:01 jays at some point you're going to have to give us some insight yeah like we've really not heard a ton about them this year. Well, they suck at hitting and their bullpen has imploded. So. Okay. Are they dead? No, but it's kind of looking like the merely a flesh wound Monty Python sketch. Yeah, because I think they won yesterday to get back. They lost three in a row.
Starting point is 00:34:25 But we saw they had that. And they had the socks. They were brutal. Yeah, they had that, what was at the bottom of the ninth three run shot? 11-11-11 tie against Detroit on Sunday. I didn't have the Yimmee Garcia, Jordan Romano, five earned runs in two innings on my bingo cart for that one. That should be put to bed.
Starting point is 00:34:49 Now, Rhett had the question. Yeah. Rhett asked me, he asked me the question, I don't really know the answer. So I guess we could ask you, do these games count, though? These games all have the value of one game still. Okay. It's late May, just wondering when the games matter. Does someone have their record handy?
Starting point is 00:35:08 I want to say they're like 23 and 27 or something like that. We're 12 and a half back yesterday, whatever that means. Oh, yeah, they're not winning that division. What are they back in the wild card? 24 and 29. 24 and 29, so we're talking 54, 53, 53 games. So they are at the one-third mark of the season. that's um you're going to not need to have two more thirds i considerably better than this first
Starting point is 00:35:36 third five and a half back or sorry five back of the wild card yeah which isn't crazy five with but they're not playing well that's the thing yeah they could it's like oh if you're five back and you're playing well that's great but i mean they're struggling with shitty teams here they lost three four to the tigers christ yeah terribly yeah uh just uh getting you up to speed i i i I don't know if you saw Nikita O'Hocchuk has signed in Russia. CSCA or whatever it is. So he's really happy for him. Yeah, going to Moscow.
Starting point is 00:36:10 So that was a fifth rounder. Yeah, I think it was probably, let's look at this. It could be a thing. It's probably not, but how many bloody picks do we have? And it's one of our later ones. Let's kick tires. And he made a decision for them, although I just didn't see a path for him. He wasn't nearly as good as Miramanov.
Starting point is 00:36:30 I didn't think he was as good as Hanley. Who else is in there that you want to make room for? There's some kids like Saloviav and his nuts up. I don't know. I just didn't see anything there that really was that dynamic. But that's a high bar when you're holding people to that Miramanov Hanley bar. Yeah. Well, sadly no.
Starting point is 00:36:50 But that's, yeah. That's why he was available for a fifth on a team that had like 10 picks by the time they got to the fifth. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, well, you know, easy come, easy go. We got all these picks, right? All these picks coming in? Eh, what's a fifth?
Starting point is 00:37:06 Who cares? No big day. Yeah, that's probably a one in ten chance that you're a hockey player that can get to 100 games. And so I don't mind that kind of risk reward. You just want to win a few of those ones, right? I saw, sorry to jump on you. I saw Craig Button had his updated draft ranking sort of thing, and he has T. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:28 going before the nine spot. And the drumbeat is becoming a little bit louder from other different areas of the scouting world that the flames for a while, is it a bit of a reach if they take Teesriganilat 9? It's now become a, they'll be very, very lucky if he's available at 9, which is kind of what we may be expected. Yeah, the momentum was going that way.
Starting point is 00:37:53 We always talk about these guys that have this helium in their draft year. And he happens to be one of the youngest guys that can be taken in the draft. So when you're seeing him dominate in the second half, you're like, shit. Like, there's lots of runway left to get better. And, you know, the ceiling looks really elite. Like, he hardly got played in the playoffs last year by Seattle.
Starting point is 00:38:13 He didn't play in the Memorial Cup. Like, where he's come in a year is incredible. And teams are like, well, shit, he just got regular ice in the Western League and he's doing this. Like, yeah, we like him. But I don't know that there's any consensus two to ten. So he could be there for you. He may not. I would think that you're close to a coin toss, that he's there at nine.
Starting point is 00:38:34 And if he is, and he's the best player, no one's going to say it's a nepotism pick, right? He's that good. I don't know. That's what's changed in the narrative the last two months. I don't know what that word means, but okay. Well, you're not picking him because there's his name bar. He deserves to be taken there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:51 I think he knows what the word means, yeah. He kind of knows. Yeah. You're explaining his joke. Is that that? That would end up playing up. Do you want to hang out for a Pinder report? It's very boring.
Starting point is 00:39:02 There's no snakes or puke or dogs eating eggs here. Get out of here. There's no puke and no snakes and no alligators. What are we doing here? Well, I see now this was not, it was not in my rundown, but I see that, uh, the Jack, what have you got? I see what you've got in the rundown here. What have you got going there, Jack?
Starting point is 00:39:22 Well, people in the chat were bringing it up. Tim Nacky's back and he's doing one cent per follower now. So let's watch and see how we feel about it. I don't know. Yeah, all right. Because there's also another wrinkle to it. It's, sorry. Day 1, going to blackjack and bidding one cent for every follower of got. There are 1,33,000 of your legion.
Starting point is 00:39:45 So a 13,390 dollar beer coming right up. All righty, ladies, genuine degeneralance. It is day one, betting one cent for every follower I've got. We're going to include some other socials as well because it's one cent. So for Instagram and Facebook, we have 1,339,000. Have you ever looked at? a bloke in your life and known so clearly that he cuffs his own farts and fucking smell them we have a weasel on the table a three is gross and we see
Starting point is 00:40:09 12 plays a 10 we will have to hit and this weasel needs to tee the fuck off for me right now go good for me buddy no idea 9 21 21 17 what a way to kick it off and that punting gods live in our favour on day one that I will see you on tomorrow when we will be better even more. Thank you to the fart sniffer. Sniffer. See, we're spoiled, right?
Starting point is 00:40:44 It's only 13 grand on a single hand of blackjack. I don't know. Cheap. How far we've come? Ordinarily. I know. Are you frigging crazy? 13 grand on one hand of blackjack?
Starting point is 00:40:57 Do you get a 12? I don't know. I don't mind it. I don't mind it. I think it's better than not. having it, but it's never, I mean, it's going to be tough to get to those great heights. Is it a daily thing like it was before? It doesn't feel like a daily thing.
Starting point is 00:41:15 I keep jack. How's he doing? Is he always up, you know, doing? Because he's at 1.3 million followers. I don't know that he's going to get to 3.6 million on based on this. I don't know. Jack, where's, where's the boss on this? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:41:33 that the first hand it looks completely rigged too it's like he just 12 to 9 and he wins I don't like that's why he's Timnaki yeah you're mortals can't do this we don't get cards like that if it's rigged then that's the worst of the worst like you mean Tim just the deplorable person or yes that you that speaks to some sort of yeah yeah you know what it gives me hope is that he's definitely monetized this fame and he's like gone and done some stuff and he's got merch and he's trying to get people into a new zealand casino and he's coming up with new things because he realizes he couldn't just keep going there he wanted to like take some wins take some games and tuck them away like if that thing went forever and he never lost that just doesn't happen and i'm not
Starting point is 00:42:25 sure right yeah because if it's me i probably just disappear from the poof you're not going to see me So I don't know if credit to him for trying to recreate something. Or maybe it's tricky. I'm not sure. Let's do it. You know what? You're here. I'll tell you what.
Starting point is 00:42:41 It ain't going to tell you long. We'll do the Pinder report. Yesterday, yesterday we started the show early and then we had to drag it out just to get to Frank. We're not doing that again. We have to drag it out. Because we were really kind of done. It's amazing how much, as I say, how much space.
Starting point is 00:43:00 you take up in the program. How did Frank was taking a lot of heat outside of Edmonton the last few days? How did, did that get broached? I guess he's an oiler guy. You know what it is? He's not an oiler guy. He doesn't mind Edmonton. You know, I guess maybe I'm a Philadelphia guy.
Starting point is 00:43:21 I actually don't mind Edmonton. And he's buddies with all the Euler fans. It's kind of rubbing off on him. And if you don't have that built in distaste for them, then I'm maybe you can my own they are a heartfelt fans they're idiots but they do they are Billy fans are passionate water fans are dumb and passionate I mean it's it's a true fandom but if frankly really a deal that j w merit he loves that hotel if he were a flyer guy he'd remember the losses to the flyers back in the 80s he'd be like eff that right I mean
Starting point is 00:43:57 Ronnie hextall won the con smith while losing he he's there's Anyway, we'll do the Pinder report. It'll be a quick one I promise you. Brought to you by Village Honda. The 2024 Honda Accord redesigned last year, chosen by Car and Driver magazine as the number one mid-sized sedan. One of the most reliable vehicles on the road, better than ever, superior ride quality, reliability,
Starting point is 00:44:18 impressive fuel economy, all thanks to the Exel Hybrid. It's at Village Honda. So if you weren't here, I'd just be here by myself. It'd be just me. I did see that. Did I just give him a window? to eat. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:33 Maybe he needs sausages or whatever. Is that what it was? When he dove out the one day it was to get coffee or because he had to eat with his pills or something. So he had to have sausages. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:44:44 I need sausages. I'm not sure where it is. So yes, starting off the Pinder Report. Connor McDavid called it one of the worst stretches of hockey for the Oilers, the entire playoff, the second period.
Starting point is 00:44:55 They were out shot 16 to 7. Their 2-0 lead evaporated as our buddy. What? Johnston gave Dallas a three-two lead. They would tie it at the end of the second period, but then the third goal of the night for Robo Jason Robertson holds up as the eventual game winner, the Dallas Stars.
Starting point is 00:45:12 Back-to-back wins, this time by a score. Five to three. Welcome back, Rope. Yeah, Rupa Hince, a pair of assists. Heskinan, the empty netter. He's been very good. Hayskenon, I think, is playing 45 minutes a night. Oh, is what it kind of on a half.
Starting point is 00:45:30 It's a nice round number. Yeah, it's bananas. So there you see it. Jamie Ben had himself. That Ben Johnston Stankoven line has been very good. And we saw very quickly what hints does to help out Jason Robertson. I think Jamie Ben is just so valuable to that squad. He really is.
Starting point is 00:45:55 Physicality, Rhett? Yeah, finishes, checks what he needs, makes all the right plays, is in the right spot. wins, draws, intimidates people. Who, I want them on my team. Yeah, saw that clip. Remember when they lose in the bubble in the cup final? And I had kind of forgotten about it, but there was that,
Starting point is 00:46:15 kind of that, I guess it's the locker room video. No one is left in the locker room. Everyone's gone. Stars have lost. And he's still sitting in his full gear in his stall. Devastated. Couldn't even take a shit off. He was just done.
Starting point is 00:46:31 would like, hey, you know what, Jamie? And we'll pantarrows or whatever else. Jamie, go get it. I can root for Jamie, Ben. Here's a, we can, if it ever comes to that point, but I'm going to jump the gun. If it is the Panteros and the stars, are we, do we have disdain for Kachuk?
Starting point is 00:46:54 Do we like Kachuk? Are we a Ben guy? Like, what are we doing? I don't think there's any disdain for Kich. I think Kach as much as it was like, Hey, he wanted out of here. It was like, no, but he told the team, you got a good return from. What you did with that return is a little, you know, less appetizing.
Starting point is 00:47:10 But you got, what, six really good years of Matthew Kachuk, if I'm correct? Like, yeah. And I think people were like, you know what? At least he didn't draw it out. He was honest. It wasn't like, hey, I'll say one thing to another. It's like, look, Johnny's gone. Maybe I'm not the hugest fan of this coach.
Starting point is 00:47:27 I don't think I'm going to resign here. So if you can get a good deal, that could help every. Yeah, I don't know if that's the consensus, though, because I've heard from some people who their thing is you've got, you've got Edmonton who you cannot cheer for. You've got Florida. They got Bennett. And now, Bennett didn't ask out, but it's just you got Bennett. No, he needed that change of scenery. And then you got the Rangers and they got Adam Fox on the blue line and maybe just don't like whatever.
Starting point is 00:47:55 So we don't want Fox to win. We don't want those guys in Florida to win. We don't want the Oilers to win. So by default, it's kind of Dallas. I, but then you, I like it. I don't know how that works either. I'm, I'm,
Starting point is 00:48:05 get down with that, yeah. Yeah. And plus, isn't there, if the stars make the final, then there's a little out of bonus for the flames there too, right? Another third rounder. Woo.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Yeah. Go get a Hoechuk 2.0 with that pick. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. Russian D. You can never go wrong with Russian D.
Starting point is 00:48:21 That's what they always say. Now, if it's Dallas. Yeah, if it's Dallas and Florida, are we going to, are we just going to do a road? We'll go to Dallas. We'll go to Florida. We'll go to Florida. and we'll go back and forth road shows a lot of travel you don't want to do a why don't we home base in one of those two places right where would you advise us to go Dallas or to Fort Lauderdale.
Starting point is 00:48:39 There's been a lot of storms in Texas, but the humidity in Fort Lauderdale in June is horrendous. It's hot as balls in both places, right? Yeah, it's June, right? Like we're talking a week and a half down the road from now. I've got no connections. So maybe we have to go to Florida. just by default. My only thinking was because if we were going to go watch baseball,
Starting point is 00:49:05 you'd rather go to that new Rangers stadium than the Trop. Oh. Or whatever. Yeah, 100%. Although you'd be close to the Miami one. You wouldn't be going across the Trap. Yeah. You're not going to the Trap.
Starting point is 00:49:16 Little Tuba. It's too hot. Because even there people say it's too hot to. It's miserable. Did you see what? Because the Rangers did that, right? The Texas Rangers, they had a very nice ballpark. And they built a new one because it was too hot to watch baseball in the old.
Starting point is 00:49:30 one, which is like a beautiful brand. Yeah, it's a beautiful brand new ballpark. That's just, ah, it was too hot. Did you know about the climate when you built it? Did you know? This is the roof with Buffalo, Dean. How are we in the new stadium? Yeah, you get a new climate with that stadium?
Starting point is 00:49:49 Are you going to put a roof on you, idiots? Yeah. Are you putting a roof? What do you talk? The biggest supporters of climate change out there, Buffalo Bills, they're just praying. for climate change. They went flooding of a foot of water
Starting point is 00:50:04 instead of six feet of snow. What are we talking? Put a goddamn roof on that thing. So game four coming up in Evanton in a couple nights. Feels like a big one, fellas. It feels like a big one. Did you see ticket prices yesterday, by the way?
Starting point is 00:50:22 No, no. I think the season ticket sticker price was around four to 700. and five to 700 and it was down to 220 with taxes and fees in that puck drop. I had a buddy losing his mind. He had two tickets.
Starting point is 00:50:39 He lost like five, six hundred bucks on them. They're just getting soaked. I'm like, yeah, well, there you go. Yeah. It's not that important up there after. Or go. You want tickets. Yeah, go. I wonder what that game last night
Starting point is 00:50:53 we'll do for the game four. Are people, is that going to have them a little gun shy? A little nervous. Desperation will be up. If you thought you just, I'll save my money for the finals. I don't know that that holds as strongly. Yeah, that doesn't always work, does it, right? Right.
Starting point is 00:51:09 When you employ that. The Rangers, looking for the stranglehold game four in Florida. It's been a weird one. Florida has controlled a lot of this series. Game three outshot the Rangers 3723, 108 to 43 shot attempts. They erased a 4-2 deficit, it, but then the Wenberg deflection in overtime gets it done.
Starting point is 00:51:32 But it's been breakdowns that the Florida Panthers are concerned about. The Lafranier breakaway goal in the first. The goal, his end to end goal in the second was not played all that well. And then, of course, the coverage on Wenberg, who was all alone by himself in front of the net, all alone, just standing there for a tip, tip, tip, tippy. They're throwing everything in there. Well, about the penalties. There's been 13 minor penalties and this and that.
Starting point is 00:51:57 It's very much when there's desperation on one side and you're facing a big deficit, you pull them all out. We'll see what Maurice sounds like Lomberg's out and Ack Pozo is in. So I'm not sure how that is going to sway the balance there, but not ideal. I wouldn't be worrying if I'm Florida. You've outplayed him. The only concern is that Chesterkin has been just insane at times in the series. And as he is, you know, able to do. Not many guys can just say, yeah, it doesn't matter the caliber.
Starting point is 00:52:30 We're just bricks and mortaring this net. But he's one of a small list. I still think he's the best goalie in the world. Like he's, uh, that, that's really the only reason they're up to wire, is it not? Yeah. It's been, it's been very close. And they have, they could very easy be up three zip.
Starting point is 00:52:46 They really could. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, we have one NHL coaching job left after the hiring of Dan Bilesma, who is in in Seattle, which feels again, like an odd hire. for the Crackin. I don't know. He replaces Dave Haxstall, who is fired. Now, he's got a cup win. There you see, a fastest coach, 200 wins. This is a guy, remember, he was brought in to replace Michelle Tarion. So he had a Stanley Cup party and a parade before he held a training camp for the
Starting point is 00:53:14 Pittsburgh Penguins when you go back. Coach the Sabres retro, as you'll remember, from 15 to 17. What's the taste left in people's mouths there with Dan Biles? I don't, they don't speak highly. Oh, dear. Well, interestingly, too, fellas, he will be at a press conference in Seattle today and then back down here in Palm Springs tomorrow because I think he's still going to finish out the season with his HL club that hosts game one, if I'm correct, of the Western Conference final. Yeah, it says a best Western conference record with Coachella Valley this season. So I'm assuming he'll finish out with them here? Like, you wouldn't leave him high and dry at this point when you're one of four teams left. It'd be a dick move for sure.
Starting point is 00:53:57 Which maybe is on brand. Maybe. Wait, where's he coaching? In Coachella Valley. He's been great with them. He raped him, I think, either the second year of Seattle's existence was the first year they had the team here. They've had him waiting in the wings. He was always going to be the break glass in case of emergency.
Starting point is 00:54:17 There's Dan Bilesma. It's not the sexiest name, but he's done very well with their HL affiliate with a really good roster. I don't know. I mean, I'm not saying he's a great, higher, great coach. It's not sexy, but you're going to be a good. knows him well. They were happy with him in Pittsburgh when he came in, but you wonder, is that going from Michelle Tarian
Starting point is 00:54:33 to anybody? If anybody came in after Tarian because he was, if not despised, then they were tired of his act. I'll tell you about 2026. Whether it's a good hire. That's a good call. When that new rink opens, we'll know why then. That's right. Thanks, right.
Starting point is 00:54:51 That leaves San Jose is the lone team to make a coaching hire. Marco Stern, we've talked about him, rumored to be the guy. He was coaching Ontario in the AHL. Jeff Blaschell has interviewed for the job. Maybe he'll get a second one, but it still kind of points towards former shark forward, Marco Sturm. The social media can be stupid. I don't know if you guys, there's a lot of stuff that happens or you see on social media that often is dumb and has no basis. There is, is Ottawa trading Brady Kachuk? Is Brady Kachuk available? Steve Stales, he's the new guy on record there as the GM. Complete bullshit, he said to Pierre LeBron.
Starting point is 00:55:35 Well, that puts a nice little bow on that one. Yeah. So the 24-year-old guy that has had 37 goals and, yeah, he's not going anywhere. Weird. Yeah, the more appropriate question is how happy is Brady could check there. True. That's what I thought when I heard is Ottawa trading him or has it been a, I'd like to maybe go somewhere else.
Starting point is 00:55:57 Because he's got the, it's not like you're a year out from unrestricted free agency. There's none of that scenario because he's got that long term deal. He has three, four years left? He signed it. It was a seven year deal in 2021. So he's got a few years.
Starting point is 00:56:10 Okay. Yeah. Not a few years left. 8.25 million. 205 is a decent. You're happy to pay him. You're happy to have that guy. You want that guy.
Starting point is 00:56:18 But yeah, he's their captain and potentially best player in the heart and soul that franchise. And they have one shit. They haven't been to the playoffs. Yeah. They got to get moving there. And I don't know. They're saying all the right things.
Starting point is 00:56:29 I don't know that their actions have matched what they're saying. Endler is saying, we want to be a best in class organization. Travis Green, the best in class coach available? I'm hyper concerned. Are you? I don't see it working out. Because two years, and again, no, go ahead. I was just going to say, you guys are very much on record.
Starting point is 00:56:53 I don't know Travis Green from a hole in the ground. Ryan, you kind of have some connections from your time in, you know, Abbottes, I just remember how it went in Vancouver. And look, you can definitely be a better coach as time passes. And it kind of feels like the Dave Haxill thing where it's like, it just didn't really go well or smoothly.
Starting point is 00:57:11 And yeah, you get a second chance, but you're probably still that same guy as much as you want to change. And he didn't wreak of best in class. Like, are you paying top dollar with the best guy in the market or is it a guy that you recycled? Best in class would have been.
Starting point is 00:57:25 been Barubi in February or March. Like, don't kid yourself. What the hell are we talking about? You had shot behind the bench because you'd packed it in on the season unnecessarily. And you had a plan to go get a new coach and you were going to let this season just go to shit. And now you hired Travis Green.
Starting point is 00:57:45 Which I don't care. That's your prerogative to do. But don't give us the best in class. And I think it's shifted because you've got to been beating the drum for a while now, Pinderon. Yeah, they're young. Yeah, they've got draft picks.
Starting point is 00:57:59 It's when are you, when's, when is it getting good? It's past time. It's, it's past that. And you feel now it's that it, you heard it from McKinnon, you heard it from McDavid. You've heard it from a lot of these younger guys. And I feel like it's now the players are sick and tired of losing. We've gone through coaches. We've had draft picks.
Starting point is 00:58:17 When does this turn the corner? And, and I'm with you. So it's Travis Green. And Travis Green at an important time for that. franchise, I think. Not that they're going to move around thing, but just what are you going to have to abandon this iteration of a rebuild
Starting point is 00:58:33 even though those guys are all so young if you don't turn it around here in the next year or two. I don't know. Yeah, and that's where the Brady Kachuket ties in. If this group can't win right away, he has the ability to just say, yeah, I'm good, like move me. Yeah. That's the way
Starting point is 00:58:49 the league works. I'm sorry. Yeah. Memorial Cup. London Knights defeated Moose Jaw 5.4. The Knights are 2 and 0 in the round robin. The Warriors fall to 0 and 2. Sad, sad but true. The Warriors, they've got the Drummondville Voltageurs tonight. Both teams are 0 and 2.
Starting point is 00:59:07 Losers done. Winner moves on to the semi against London or host Saginaw on Friday. So there's that. Sad to go all the way. A hard tournament too. You see it all the time. You got a league champion that goes in there. You lose your first two in a couple days.
Starting point is 00:59:23 Bob, you're done. hardly worth it so different than than a playoff series too right it's a tournament yes it's awkward yeah I'd almost like I'd entertain a you know
Starting point is 00:59:35 play a best of five and you have four teams make it a playoff tree but it is what it is it's been that way forever you don't need to tweak it they're all good teams it's just so like Brett you nailed it how different is your mindset in a best of seven versus a one-off some of these stuff they look like exhibitions
Starting point is 00:59:52 like oh shoot we just weren't right you lose 7-2. Like, what are we doing here? It's an national championship. We are 100 days out from the NFL season opener between the Ravens and the Chis. Can we do it? Can we get there? 100 days?
Starting point is 01:00:06 You got it in you? We're going to need some time off, Dean, especially you. Yeah, I'm done. I got like a, how do you get a cold? I got like a sore throat. I'm stuffy. Jesus Christ, it's like almost June. I went and did the, uh, the nose adjustment with the balloon.
Starting point is 01:00:24 What? nose adjustment. Have you seen this, Pinder? No. I have. It looks awful. If you have time, look it up. It's a, they shove a balloon up your nose with a tooth stick.
Starting point is 01:00:38 With a toothache. And then they inflate it. And it goes up into your sinuses and adjusts it. It was weird. Is that like deviated to deputum? You can breathe better or all that shit or what? Yeah, this just, yeah. Is there anything you won't try with your body?
Starting point is 01:01:00 Is there anything that's off limits for you? This corny shit that you do? I did the balloon thing. Up your hoop? No, my notes. I'm in next week for my hoop. The hoops next week. Bigger balloon, much bigger balloon.
Starting point is 01:01:20 So did it help? It does feel more. Yeah, the airways feel opened. Good. Yeah, I would, I don't know what it was supposed to help, but it'd feel better. Yeah. Chavler will have some data on the snoring. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:39 Angel Hernandez is done. I'm tired from Major League Baseball. If you can believe it. The worst, the worst in Major League Baseball forever is, he laughed. worked a game on May 9th. They finally just took him away and put him on the shelf. They're working out some sort of a
Starting point is 01:02:02 financial deal to get him to stay away. He is the subject of many controversies for his ability to umpire the game, including game three of the 2018 ALDS between the Yankees and Red Sox when three of his calls were overturned by video
Starting point is 01:02:19 in the first four innings of the game. three in the first four not great he sued mowb in 2017 for racial racial discrimination said he was discriminated against because he had not been assigned to a world series since oh five or maybe you're the worst yeah maybe i heard this news and the immediate response was uh from his lawyer that he had not been paid to go away and you know when that's the first reaction you're like he's that bad. And then secondly, it was like somebody like John Boy or one of these baseball social media guys is just grinding on the worst calls of all time from Angel Hernandez. And when that
Starting point is 01:03:01 drops, I'm just popcorn. And sure enough last night, top 15 worst calls. I was crying. I was laughing so hard. And the thing is, it'd be hard to get to 15 probably. When you sat down and you had a collection of the shittiest calls that he's made. How are we getting this to 15? This is a hell of a job. This is how movies end up like three and a half hours. They're like, we just can't cut this. Go and go and go.
Starting point is 01:03:24 Yeah. So that's all. It's all good. That's all. Jack, did you have something else? I see you got something loaded up there. Oh,
Starting point is 01:03:33 it's just a rat's balloon thing. I found a video. Well, I mean, we better take a look then to wrap up the finger report on a, on a Tuesday. Oh, God.
Starting point is 01:03:44 This is the dumb shit at the end of the Pender report. It's perfect. Oh, I can't, I can barely watch this. Describe. this looks uh is this a doctor or some dude in a caravan in a parking lot what looks very fancy that toothpick that he had there very official there goes i got it what oh wow yeah that's sean merriman what are we doing here so is that essentially what it was you laid down some dude with a toothpick and a balloon there you go yeah here's the yeah looks like what
Starting point is 01:04:25 Those clown horns. Huh? On the brain by having your bones squeeze so tight in your face. Yeah. It relieves the dural menager. Look at all the upgrades. Look at all the upgrades, yeah. There's Rett's brain.
Starting point is 01:04:39 Look at all the CTE. Yeah, look at it. A lot of black holes in there. All right. Hey, hot dog. Oh, delicious. Get those out of there. There you go.

Starting point is 01:05:30 With a spelling mistake. Yeah, good. Okay. I'm running. I don't know. It was Seacom and something else. Yeah, we went one for two. The Pacer spread hit the spicy P was the shits.
Starting point is 01:05:41 Oh. Oh. Spicy P of the shits. Yeah. Betway bets. You can get a free bet up to $200 if your first bet loses. You create your new Betway account and you scan the QR code. And you redeem your.

But if that first bet you'll get that refund of up to $200 to then go back in and bet on your favorite sports offer only available outside of Ontario. So Jackie Boy putting it together here. What do we got? We're going with some hockey today. Two of three games in the series have gone to overtime. So they're giving us plus 310. I like it to go to OT again. Last game, nine goals. The other two games were lower scoring. I'm going to take the under minus 120. There you go. So OT in a low scoring game for Jack to be a big winner today.
Starting point is 01:06:32 Those are our bet way bets of the day. Looks like Pender's done. He just, he left us. He had enough. He gone. He gone. Back into the pool.
Starting point is 01:06:43 Well, yeah. Probably does it for us too, then. Probably does it for us too, Retro. We're going to call it a day. Man, the days after an oiler loss, just the mood is. so much better. Sweeter.
Starting point is 01:06:58 Feels like the sun is shining just a little bit brighter. Birds are chirping a little bit louder. Mm-hmm. It's perfect. It's perfect. Whoa, wow. Yeah. Tomorrow's a Wednesday show.
Starting point is 01:07:08 We'll say hi to noodles. We'll get him in. See in studio or are you sick? I'm sick. Oh, God. So you're, you're coming and what are you doing? Travel Day today, big travel.
Starting point is 01:07:19 I've actually got a big day tomorrow. Kids. You. I got kids in track and field. I've got kids. It's a disaster. Everybody's unique. So what was your sport when you did track and field?
Starting point is 01:07:34 Like what? This is going to shock you. It was never big in the track and field. Oh. Yeah. Not great at the long jump. No good at the high jump. Triple jump,
Starting point is 01:07:47 coordination and running and because you need it. You tend to need to be a little bit, you need some length, right? So maybe some long limbs. to kind of help you. Did my stubby Ukrainian legs and arms? Could you discus? No, there's no, we didn't even have discus.
Starting point is 01:08:02 They were afraid that in the shot put. We were afraid somebody was going to get brained with one. No javelin. What else is there? No, it was basically, you're either running or you're a pole vault or jumping. We didn't have pole vaults. We just had the high jump. So yeah, I was more or less a spectator on that Dragon Field.
Starting point is 01:08:22 I was just happy there's no school. No school. Yeah. Just no three-legged race? Just not. I don't think that's track and field. Oh,
Starting point is 01:08:31 I feel like that's, you know, the cookout. Acky sack or whatever the, no, there's a sack race? Yeah, damn it.
Starting point is 01:08:40 Like I got, well, it's not even in the phone, but I got track and field at the start and end of the day. My wife's got something. The kid's got something. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 01:08:49 It's not great, retro. Not great. Getting away. They get away. Yeah. But, But we will see you tomorrow, buddies.
