Starting point is 00:00:04 Hello, buddies. Welcome to Barnburner on the Thursday, February 19th edition of the program, here in the beautiful O'Connor Cabin. The cottage at Buffalo Mountain Lodge, Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts in the beautiful Banff, Alberta. It is gorgeous. It is gorgeous. There are mountains. There's snow. The air is crisp. There's peaks.
Starting point is 00:00:33 There's a lot of Ozzy. I was so wandering the streets doing the... Was part of the Commonwealth. Mixing in, seeing the people. A lot of Commonwealth people at 2 a.m. outside the Mackers, as they call it. Just McDonald's. The Macers. The Macers.
Starting point is 00:00:47 I didn't know that was... Macas. I didn't know that was the Lexicon. Yeah. There it is. Oh, Lexicon. Macers. Macas. We are into it.
Starting point is 00:00:58 This show is a presentation of Bet365. We'll call out of action on Bet365 these days, boys. game props, player props, totals, the money line, whatever your bet is. Never, ever ordinary at Bet365. Download the app, get it in the game, must be 19 or older. And as we are going live, I don't want any bitching guys about, oh, gee, starting on time. Look, we're here. We're starting.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Think about how many time zones were away. Like, we're doing our best here. We're doing our, yeah. Jet lag is a killer. Yeah, super chat for the youth centers of Calgary. Any of the comments, super chats that come in. During the show, we'll donate the money on your behalf to the youth centers of Calgary. And then we'll talk about your comment.
Starting point is 00:01:41 We'll get you on the show and do all that is. Yes, we're once again out here in Banff. This unbelievable backdrop, officially the McLeod Law, LLP Studios here for the better part of this week. This is the best looking McLeod Law studios we've ever had. Yeah, like we're doing okay back in the loop. But this is a bit of an upgrade. It's a step up. Yeah, it's a bit of a step up.
Starting point is 00:02:07 We've, Get your helmets on. Yeah. Is it a good? Yeah. Wow. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Because you probably have a headache from last night, but also there's a game to be played. Yeah. Did you take one in the, in the beak last night? Yeah, the brain is hurting. Is the brain hurting? Well, you sound great. Thank you. You sound really good.
Starting point is 00:02:25 You look good, rat, too. I was humming so much last year. Yeah. Yeah. Singing. Oh, yeah. We were singing. We had, uh,
Starting point is 00:02:33 You get to that point of the night and you just, you kind of dim the lights and you throw on, I mean, you were out at, you were at Macers or whatever. Yeah, Macs. We were kind of sitting here and some older country music, some Lucanbach, Texas and some old George Strait. Yeah. Yeah. DJ Dean was really crushed. We were feeling it. You know what happens?
Starting point is 00:02:55 It was a nice level vibe going and then things got a little more aggressive. We put the bird in the air. and we flew. Yeah, well, yeah. There were stages of the evening. The bird went in the air at one point. There was a live stream of a poker game that was held, if you recall, last night. I did.
Starting point is 00:03:16 I cheated. I felt bad about that. You were tremendous. And I was no good. Jack folded a pair of bases. I was so mad at him and he was mad at me. How long has this been something you wanted to do? Because it was clearly you were dialed in for this.
Starting point is 00:03:30 I love poker. we've never played with the boys. So I think I've thought about it for a while. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your philosophy is the dumber the shit we can do and live stream, the better the idea. Yes, 100%.
Starting point is 00:03:45 And it was pretty dumb. I don't even know if the people could see our hands or the table, but like I don't know if we have a puzzle here, but I think Jack would like to live stream you puzzling me. No audio just like country music. Is there a puzzle here? Let's the music on and just do it. A thousand piece or deed.
Starting point is 00:04:01 boy, we're leaving tomorrow. I don't know. It's a lot. I don't have a lot on the cooker today, but maybe. I've got to make some bacon and eggs here right away. But, uh, well, and I was halfway joking when we were sitting as, well, when are we doing the live stream?
Starting point is 00:04:15 And Jack just, you know, just, you know, jumps into poor RJ's like, what the hell? What are we doing? We didn't talk about this. I had no idea. He's like, zoom in for the flop. Yeah. But you, uh, you missed it last night.
Starting point is 00:04:26 Um, and I was going to mention it. You, that's like, shush. The, whoever was delayed. the cards got dealt. There's only four of us playing. And Red is sitting beside you. And he looks at his cards, puts them on the table, slides them over, and then takes yours. I'll keep these.
Starting point is 00:04:43 I knew he was fucking around at one point because I literally saw him take two chips off my stack. When I had my head turn, I'm like, rats. Yeah, he was fishing. You're doing that. You're doing everything. Fishing into the case for the poker chips. He was swapping out cards for yours. How are my cards?
Starting point is 00:04:57 Ryan just like, I haven't gotten any cards all night. I hadn't gotten him. That might have been the only cards they had. You bastard. And lo and behold, at the end of the night, the long-armed gentleman, that was the big winner. The long-wise champ.
Starting point is 00:05:12 And Jack was completely rattled. So you thought it was going to be... I was rattled. I don't know. That's your lexicon. Yeah. I've got a great photo. You guys can't see it,
Starting point is 00:05:22 but it's a retro at the poker table. The whole is chips. You took all of them. As you said last night, hey. Winters. I'm a winner. You know, this is nothing new for me.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Now, cheaters also cheat. And I think it was the first hand you lost, and you immediately were rummaging loudly in the chip suitcase, like grabbing handfuls of chips. Yeah, that wasn't subtle. I did maybe borrow a few extra.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Well, again, if you're not lazy, you know, prove it. If you're not cheating, you're not trying. Suppose, prove it.
Starting point is 00:05:54 So that was last night. Well, and then I stuck around here. The rest of the group kind of decided they were going to go and do some dancing. So I held down the fort. I wanted to make sure the fire didn't go out. It kind of did some fire maintenance, keeping the home fires burning.
Starting point is 00:06:09 My dancing shoes, I would say. Yeah, my dancing shoes must have got a hole in the bottom of them because I don't think I was gone long. No, it was a tight turn for some. And then it feels like a tight turn this morning. Even though we're, yeah, because yesterday it was a much tighter turn to be up in time for the hockey game. Tomorrow will be a tighter turn.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Same, same, yeah. same time tomorrow for the end. I think so, 840. 840 Mountain. Thank goodness that actually there's some good hockey games still. That day yesterday. Yesterday was a epic. I think there's like three days worth of things that happened yesterday.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Four games, three of them go to overtime in must-win situations best on best. And, you know, the Russia thing. Incredible, yeah. Because Finland ties it late and then wins it. Canada ties it late and wins it. The Americans... nothing with seven minutes left. Yeah. Like that's insane.
Starting point is 00:07:03 The Americans hold off the late charge from Sweden. The Zabanajad goal late and they win it in overtime. May go down and time will tell as one of the greatest eight hours or whatever that. Sure. Right. The epic hockey. Yeah. And the one that was stupid early was the only one that wasn't close with what, the Swiss beat in the German? Yeah, the German. The Swiss, the Slovakians being the Germans.
Starting point is 00:07:24 And that was a non-event. It was too early. No one saw it. Whatever was 4 a.m. But like the others, It was just bang, bang, bang, O-T-O-T-O-T. And as you've said, if things, if you don't win, the luster comes off of things like that, we're always going to remember the Mitch Marner goal and how that all played out.
Starting point is 00:07:42 But if they don't win, we're less apt to harken back to it. No, if it only becomes epic if you finish the job. I like a good hearkening, but you do need to win. Yeah, we're not as quick to harken if it doesn't end the right way. We're hasty in our hearkening. That's part of the thing yesterday is, for both the Americans and the Cape. Well, they won these games.
Starting point is 00:08:03 So it adds to that lore. And I, like, I know how we feel about it. We want a Canada to win. I probably wanted the Americans to lose. Oh, it'd be great. It sets up nicely. It's a pretty good Final Four. I don't know how you feel about Finland or Sweden.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Would you have rather have had Sweden through? Are they the better opponent than maybe Finland? I mean, Finland's, they did well in the round. I would, I would say Sweden is a better roster. with Finland's playing. Yeah. So they deserve to be here. And when they play each other head to head
Starting point is 00:08:34 and Finland won, I believe. Yeah. So that'll be the bangers tomorrow, Canada, Finland, early, and then the US and Slovakia. Slovaks have been the dark horse, the Cinderella. They're a team of like a half NHLers
Starting point is 00:08:49 and like the two goalies, young guys, no one's heard of. Like, Lavae, I believe, is their starter. They've got a Ducks prospect and a wild prospect. in net and it's like I don't know how they're doing this but here they are and that's a cool story that that's a that's a while we have the two heavyweights and the fins who seem to you know
Starting point is 00:09:08 blue collar workman like always seem to be there late here's the nice Cinderella story as well I don't know how to characterize it because I mean you're I slavkovsky was a first overall pick so it's not like he's underrated maybe he's underappreciated but I don't even this year when the flames were playing this guy six three six four two two this guy's a massive human being and he's coming of age. It's been, I don't know, can you call it a coming out party when you're a first overall pick? But he has, I mean, the world's on notice that this guy is an emerging superstar now.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Well, and you're in Montreal, so you're going to get a little love there. You don't have to tell Habs fans that he's good, but it was a weird draft year. That was the COVID year. Shane Wright never played a game in that draft class. He was supposed to go one. All of a sudden week of the draft, there's rumblings. Maybe it isn't Shane Wright that's going to go at one. The drafts in Montreal.
Starting point is 00:09:57 all. It is the habs that pick first. And they take this Slovak kid who went to the Olympics as a 17 year old. This is second Olympics. He's going to have a chance to play five of these things for Slovakia. And the time he puts that jersey on, he's their best player. He's been an absolute ox this tournament. Yeah, he's been unbelievable. It's like you say it. Like how could you be underrated or underappreciated as one? That's, that's him. Because we don't put him in the same class as the bad dards and celebrating. He's and rightfully so. But he's turned into a hell the player. I wonder to the habs when they see Shane Wright. Did they give him that same look? He gave them from the...
Starting point is 00:10:28 I think they do. Maybe we know what we're doing. No offense to you. We hope you have a fine career, but maybe just maybe we knew what we're doing. Does Mishkov give them that look too? And they took Rinebacker. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Because we were at that draft in Nashville. You're like, ooh, Bishkov's right there. What is the Mishkav's story? It hasn't really been... He was chubby and he's not getting along with Rick Tockett, which happens to guys that aren't... That are chubby? Well, and not defending.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Dean, you're screwed. Yeah. here I've got all the time in the world for Rick Tocke, but I guess we're not hanging out. But can you defend? He's a bit judgy. Yeah. I'm a pretty decent defender.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Yeah. You know, you committed to your team guy, good in the room, that sort of thing. So going back to, I guess, to the game yesterday,
Starting point is 00:11:11 let me get some reads in because I got to be honest. I don't know how long this show is going to go. When is the bacon sizzling yet, Archie? What's their story? We're doing breakfast after this? Oh,
Starting point is 00:11:20 yeah. I'm crushing breakfast. I'm going to watch the women's game, and then I might just. Have we? Have we found the jacuzzi yet? Have we found the song? Oh, yeah, it's just over there.
Starting point is 00:11:30 The thing of it is, and it's beautiful. There's an outdoor hot tub, Buffalo Mountain Lodge here in Banff with Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts, and they have the nice outdoor hot tub, but it is chilly today. Right now this week here. So you've got to get over there. You're probably wearing your nice robe or whatever you got. Get in the tub. You'll be, ooh, geez, you'll be all to.
Starting point is 00:11:51 You get in the tub, this is great. But then the time to get back here, you're chilly. good. Time for a nap. These are real world problems. You can freeze your hair. You do the old kid to freeze your hair.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Yeah. Ice colds in your beard. Let's go. Capital Automotive group. Part of what we're doing here, brand new and great partner of Barn burner and part of that group is Crowfoot Dodge.
Starting point is 00:12:12 Crowfoot, Chrysler.com up in Crowfoot. Right by our buddy, Greg. You go up there again. Slide in, get some T-bones. We've been sleeping on. We've talked about that.
Starting point is 00:12:21 We've got to talk about the T-Bones. We're so quick to jump to the rib-eye for good reason. It's a great nickname, by the way, T-Bone. You can't use that. Yeah, old T-bone. 20 Crow-foot rise in the Northwest.
Starting point is 00:12:30 New ownership, new energy, same great Northwest location. Crow-foot Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Ram. Part of the Capital Automotive Group, and the focus is simple, making buying a vehicle easy and actually enjoyable. Big selection of trucks, SUVs, and everything in between, plus a team that treats you like a neighbor, not a number. Whether you're upgrading your ride or just browsing before Puck Drop, Crowfoot building something fresh and worth checking out.
Starting point is 00:12:54 No drama, no runaround. Just solid vehicles and solid people. That's Crowfoot Dodge. Crowfoot DodgeCrizer.com is the website. And yeah, I've had a chance to meet a few of the good people within the Capital Automotive Group. I would concur. Beyond the guy he blackmailed for the vehicle, right? That's, it's not that.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Okay. Not that at all. No, very good people. Very good people. I will say this. Some oiler fans in that mix, but they walk amongst us. They do. Kind of unavoid.
Starting point is 00:13:25 Yeah, it's okay. Claude, you got out at Edmondson. Happy for you. Yeah, yeah. It's a nice rag. I was Sydney, right? Oh, what a rig.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Pretty happy, fellas. You're high. I believe that. You deserve it, Tina. Yeah. I'm going to, I was thinking that I do just kind of some, uh,
Starting point is 00:13:43 content from the truck. Because I just find I'm smarter in the truck. We said everything just fits there. It just feels right. Everything fits right. It's like the armrests and the door and everything. Just everything's kind of, you know, you're driving.
Starting point is 00:13:55 You're driving into the mountains. I mean, I had Jack coming here, and he's babbling away. But I could not shut up. But I'd block him out. I thought he'd be reading. Oh, I just, yeah. I forgot my book. I thought for sure he'd read all the way.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Chapter Twu. She. I think we've got to get him on the audio book. He's great a listen. But that's not the same as reading it. That's not reading it. It's very different. It's very different.
Starting point is 00:14:21 Or at least he could fake his way through this book thing that he's promised. What chapter are you on? Jack. It's a mess. So the start of two. Does it not count if I do an audiobook? Is that not the same? No,
Starting point is 00:14:32 you're not doing a test. There's not a quiz coming. It's, it's the book club. It's about reading a book. Well, but there's also, like,
Starting point is 00:14:41 what is the content? Like, we're learning about conspiracies. We're going to get you tinfoil hat like Red has. Like, as long as you can get all that info, I'm not really worried whether you read it or heard it.
Starting point is 00:14:50 It would be better for his brain. But it would be good if you could improve your reading skills and because I think that's, what it is. It's the experience. It's not about learning what this book is about. It's about sitting down with a book and the experience of Zen and just kind of... It's about becoming
Starting point is 00:15:05 a smarter human. I guess, but it's a bad time. It's kind of like doing a puzzle. I think you've made some big steps in the last 24 hours and becoming smarter humans. So it's not Jack's audio book club. Yeah, that's fair. I mean, it's a good point. Right? It's the book club. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:21 An audio book club. That's an idea. RJ, can we change the intro? Yeah, okay. Make it a nice animated intro. Real quick one. Give us two weeks of work on that. This backdrop is great. We've been sitting here and it's, again, you talk about going Zen and just turning your brain off.
Starting point is 00:15:39 We have spent, I mean, me more probably than you guys, I have spent hours just sitting here and looking at the fireplace behind me. Yeah. And just staring up and down. I don't know how you build this. I don't know how you do this. It's unbelievable. better doing last night that fireplace is singing again it was yeah how much wood's too good we've gone through a lot of wood you're sucking air yesterday um they came with one of those like the cabota and a
Starting point is 00:16:09 trailer to replenish our woodstock there's a few trees missing it's it's gone again i'm maybe a little too aggressive with my uh you are building some castles in the sky yeah maybe you know what little smaller, just kind of maybe I was impressed that it did not get smoking hot in the cabin. No, it was cozy, but it didn't get too hot. You know what? It's the good wood. It's not wet. It's nice and dry. We're not smoking it away in here. That's what they say about you. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe your wood's wet.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Great wood. Yeah. So the game is on, right? Not quite. The women are 11. 10. We're approaching the gold medal game. We'll get wrapped up by that. Yeah, we'll get RJ to throw it on upstairs. He could be our eye in the sky and shout down some updates for us as we get into it. Well, and to be fair, we have a bet.
Starting point is 00:17:04 It is for that game. Can we do the bet now? Is that fair? Yeah, hit me. We're good friends at Bet 365. Yes, bet 365. Get the bets in. It's just the intensity is ratcheted up.
Starting point is 00:17:15 So I was looking at this matchup. We've seen a lot of Canada, USA over the many numerous Olympics. They do the rivalry series every year. The Americans, very lopsided this year. Younger, seem to be quicker. I think the Canadians keep this low scoring. It's their only chance. Marie-Philippe-Pul-Land is back.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Jack, read out the parley here. We got a... Marie-Philippe-Polene. Yes. The score, goal. Jack Parley-Francée. R-J, we got that, yeah. There we go.
Starting point is 00:17:49 And under five-and-a-half. Under five-and-half MPP-G goal. plus 8.50. Okay, what is that? Sorry, one more time. I was very focused on his. I know his French is through us all. His gybs.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Marie-Filippe Palin. To score. And under five and a half. Plus 850. No, I thought if you parley, those sort of things, this would have been around like a plus 300. 850? Their best player.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Their leader. Back from injury. High scoring Canadian. The United States. And keep it low scoring. That's the only way Canada is going to be in this thing. That's the parlay for our friends at Bet365. There you go.
Starting point is 00:18:27 So you got some time if you're watching live to get in there. And then, of course, some bangers tomorrow. All kinds of markets. It's endless. It's essentially endless at Bet365. Download the app. Get in in the game must be 19 or older. Whatever your bet is, it's never ordinary at Bet365.
Starting point is 00:18:42 I did not see the Penguins futures regarding, you know, whether Crosby's, are we doing, Jack? Yeah, has there been any update? I haven't really been in the loop. to be completely honest. Well, Cooper's saying like he might be back in this tournament, but that is what I would say if, even if I knew he wasn't
Starting point is 00:19:00 coming back. There's a lot of yeah. You don't know what's happening, to be fair. Did not look good. Didn't. Did not look good. And it's like, oh, we're going to get down the tunnel and there's the trainer and you're just walking with him. You're not like checking anything out. It's like, no, no, here's what I'm feeling.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Let's get to the room. Not ideal. You're kept. Yeah. The thing of it is, too, I was reading this morning, I think it was Pierre LeBron who was reporting that if Sydney can't go, they have to have a captain. It's just part of international play. So we'll have to put the sea on Davo or Nate Binner. Yeah. We'll figure that out. But sucks for Sid. Well, and Bennett will come back in. You saw him awkwardly sitting in the stands yesterday. Sucks for Sid for sure. Sucks for the Penguinos. I don't know. When I played
Starting point is 00:19:49 with Connor and Sid. Yeah. I mean, You feel like you'll miss the president. I mean, if you were going to put the sea, having, you know, being, you know, who's going to bring that, yeah, who's going to have that same sort of energy and control of the bench? I think the casuals would say McDavid, but I think they'll go in, yeah, good stuff. Outdoor dental, Dr. Jay Patel, we were saying yesterday, old, uh, it was a pastor knack took one right in the gym. Yeah, we need to go see Dr. Jay. Dentistry with no needles, no stress, no drills. It's the Soleil Laser.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Excellent solution. If maybe you avoid the dentist just because having the metal tools in there and the scraping and the digging, then don't do it. Don't avoid it. It's your teeth. They only give you one set. They only get one set. And while you're there, ask about the snoring treatments, two 15-minute treatments to increase the tension in the soft palate,
Starting point is 00:20:41 to reduce snoring, non-surgical, and pain-free. You start sleeping more, deeper sleep, better sleep, you're more. well rested. You're more productive. People around you are happier with you. Your Ozzy bride doesn't moan about your snoring as much. That's right. Beautiful stuff. Yeah. When you're going Macers. Macas. Yeah. Dr. Jay Patel, the website, Outdoor. Dental. And if past is watching, just mentioned Barnburner, you might get a discount. Take care of you. I'm not sure you know, Pastornak if you're sliding through town. Although Boston's already been in town,
Starting point is 00:21:15 I'm not sure if that'd be. Well, best direct. See how that goes. Dr. Jay is a goat, so you come see him if you need them. He could connect back through Calgary. So as far as the Canadian performance yesterday, we were watching it, and we were kind of going about stress levels. Oh, yeah, God, it was, I was very nervous early. It was, yeah, it was stressful. Like Canada had an early lead, if we recall, as Celebrania is whatever,
Starting point is 00:21:41 it was three minutes in or whatever scores. I feel like it's been one thing that was celebrating every game in this tournament. But then it's, you know, it's snugged up, and then they were trailing, and it's not often the Canada trails at these events. I think it was 2010 was the last time they trailed because they dominated and then they didn't go forever. I just felt like at the end of the day, just because of the skill,
Starting point is 00:22:03 you're not going to outskill Canada, that sort of thing. If the goaltending can just be what it is. Are you surprised, I guess, at all? And it's credit to check you for how they played yesterday, but are you surprised that Canada struggled in a way to to distance themselves because they didn't really
Starting point is 00:22:23 there was short spurts but it's not like Czechie was hemmed in and hanging on and white knuckling it yesterday where I felt like the Czechs knew they had to play a certain style of sit back and it wasn't that they were just sitting back but it was very controlled defense first
Starting point is 00:22:39 and physical and I wondered if they played Sweden or some of the Swedes would have just tried to keep up with the Canadians, you know what I mean? So I don't know, you have to give the checks credit. And I don't know if Canada was on top of the game, but I think McKinnon looks a little.
Starting point is 00:23:00 There's something, yeah, I mean, McKinnon. At the end of the France game. Yeah, McKinnon is not at 100%. Obviously, Crosby is out now. But there were some shifts when McDavid and Celebrini and him were. The big lines. Still dominated. And they've been playing, Cooper's hat to.
Starting point is 00:23:14 yesterday was 22, 23 minutes. They were like playing those guys. I guess I'm a little surprised because you start to go through it. Like we had not seen a lot of Sam Reinhardt. No, Ryanner's been quiet. And Marshan. We've talked a little.
Starting point is 00:23:27 That's not a guy you want to be invisible. Yeah. And Marner was kind of quiet until he wasn't, that sort of thing. And Suzuki had the goal post and then puts one in. Is superstar Mitch Marner playing in this game? Yeah, I'll definitely be getting into that at some point. But to this, it's like the round robin, it was this.
Starting point is 00:23:48 And then yesterday was it takes one game. Tomorrow's a new day. And Sam Reinhardt can put himself on the map. That sort of, but I was. It takes one game as well for a goaltender to. Yeah. Punch you. To get you.
Starting point is 00:24:02 And to your point, hadn't seen a ton of Marner. And you're like, okay, Nick Suzuki, you hit that post on an empty net. Like, God, that thing's still ringing in our ears here down a goal with how minutes to play and then an incredible tip and then that insane move one on three in overtime and you're like all right so this is why you're the favorites because your depth while they might not have shown up when you needed needed goals to save your tournament there were guys and you know if sam bennett goes in that's another guy that would be a top six on most teams in this tournament and he was watching yesterday. You lose Crosby, but he can come in. And their depth at the end of it all,
Starting point is 00:24:47 Big Line was awesome, but at the end of the day, their depth saved them, and their depth got them through. Yeah, I guess so. You need them to, just the names we've rattled off. It's, well, Hagel's there because he's, all the guys, there was a lot of guys that made this team, four nations. They win, they all come back, some guys who have been a little bit quiet. Just last thing on Czechia. that the blend between patience, but aggressive, go at them, but also wait, don't give up chances, but we're going to try and be opportunistic and jump on things when we can, like the shot block, and then they come back down.
Starting point is 00:25:28 People were giving a test. Didn't you guys see there were six, you know, six players, there were eight players on the ice? Well, no, we didn't. People in the rank didn't see it, let alone us see it. Yeah, the refs didn't. They were there. I mean, it was a, that's a crazy one at that level. for so many, for so many,
Starting point is 00:25:44 like the refs specifically, but so many to not see what was happening at that time. It would be a, if Canada doesn't win, it would be a much bigger story. It's kind of a, oh, that's kind of cute. That was funny. Hey, you see, there were six guys in the ice. There were six guys in the celebration at the end.
Starting point is 00:26:02 They're hiding them, the goalies in there, one's ducking. If they lost that game. My goodness. Yeah, yeah. So what was the time of the Czech Eagle? Was it like eight minutes left? Something like that?
Starting point is 00:26:12 Like we had said, okay, it feels like next goal wins. It's two, two. Like, we're probably not going to see two more unless one's an empty net. Now, we were wrong, but it did feel that way. They get that one. Can you imagine the favorite in a tournament of this magnitude going out and there were six guys on this? Oh, yeah. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Like, what a Dodge Bullet for the double IHF for the IOC, everyone involved. Like, this would be an absolutely massive controversy. diversity. Yeah. How could you? How could you allow this to happen? And like someone has said it online and it's like, yeah, like basically every too many men penalty is refs just watching changes.
Starting point is 00:26:51 But once they're on, yeah, like you're not counting. You're just always watching changes, right? Yeah. Insane. It didn't happen. It didn't happen. It didn't happen. It didn't happen.
Starting point is 00:27:03 Yeah, exactly. Moving on. I thought I'd been talking about that for the next four years. And you said it a little bit yesterday, just as we were wrapping things up, another game where Bittington is just kind of, I'll just continue to play and make some big saves when I have to. And I don't know. Noodles was talking about the Pasturnack goal in the one time.
Starting point is 00:27:23 That's maybe. I thought it was hurt. Jesus, I mean, I don't know. He's going to play differently. Still beat you though. Hey, Benner, we're going to do some video. Now, on this play here on this goal, I don't want to.
Starting point is 00:27:36 I think that's tough criticism. You could play it differently. that's probably still going. It's labeled under the ball. It is kind of goalie talk. But yeah, he's been, again, is there wood somewhere, a knock on wood?
Starting point is 00:27:49 But he has just, he continues to kind of silence everybody. And the faith that Cooper has put in him, he continues to pay back to his coach because he's not let him down. When the hockey world is saying, I would go this way, Cooper has stuck to that guy,
Starting point is 00:28:06 I guess he's his guy. And it is not, it's not bit the, in the ass. It's so funny. We were saying yesterday at the end of the show, it's like at the end of four nations because there was the same type of conversation in net. It wasn't as hot because you had Aden Hill and Sam Montembowy. It wasn't like
Starting point is 00:28:21 oh, we gotta go to this guy, but you're like, oh, this isn't their strength of the team. This is definitely their weakness. And at the end of the tournament, you're like, we'll never doubt this guy again. And then one year later, we're like, can we get Logan Thompson in? And at the end of this tournament, like maybe he wins it again. And it'll be like, we'll never doubt him again. And then it's like, boy that Bennington i don't know i wish we just had better goal he's like what more does he need to do
Starting point is 00:28:44 that's saving over time yeah it's safe if some goal he emerges and you get to the next turn so at least we don't have to rely on Bennington this time russman's been he's been done he's been done everything for you yeah tomorrow will be pucker it'll be puckered city i think it'll be feel similar to the checky i do in the sense that like finland wants is going to want to play it the same way like you said earlier if it was sweden maybe they open things up and say let's go talent be talent and they've got the roster to do that. The Finns are going to play a blue collar button down tight checking game. Not unlike the checks.
Starting point is 00:29:17 That's, you know, guessing. Well, and I, they kind of, there's the blueprint. Yeah. Of how to do that. To try and neutralize what Canada did. It was 24, 48 hours prior, just try and replicate and emulate what they did and see if it can work for them because I do think I'm with you. I think it's not like they're without skill.
Starting point is 00:29:35 But when you talk with the fins, I think BXA was talking about us. I lose to the Finns. It's at the world championships. They're just going to scrape and dig and claw and we're going to be aggressive and we're going to try and hang in. And then if we get a chance or a power play, we're going to try and hurt them. They were lucky to get through as well.
Starting point is 00:29:50 Yes. I didn't watch that as much. And they lost their opener of the tournament to Slovakia. And it was like, oh dear. Yeah. It was day one upset, Finns in trouble. They hardly played rantan in. It's like all of a sudden the coach is getting questioned.
Starting point is 00:30:03 But here they are in the semifinals. And yesterday down two nothing with seven minutes. minutes to play. That's incredible. Yeah. Like you've got two teams facing each other that will have belief if they're down late because it's like we just did it. On the other side. And then we can move on to some other things. But while we're talking about great for Canada and the Americans did this and the Finland, heartbreak on the other side.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Oh, so the Swiss. Just for the three teams that lost, yes. Like Czechia had a lead late. Swedes tied it late. Yeah. The Sweden's the one that maybe is the least heartbreaking because it just was low event and it was like, are they, ever going to get one and they did but it never really felt like they were taking over but the others like my goodness you're all you're this you could taste the finals yeah oh the other side it's nice not to be on the other side i'm just i'm usually on the other side jeez tough one hey yeah it's tough yeah yeah no good would have been great to win yeah i have no idea well you're part of the
Starting point is 00:31:01 championship roster in jasper a few years ago it's true yeah you're on the right side of that heart and solar heart and solar for sure tell you about levelware golf gear you're a big golfer you hit it long and straight right is that uh my buddies were telling me that's what the hinder or the level yeah yeah i know like the gear they said it's awesome what used to feel buttoned up is open it's a little more cultural something that may you not just wear it on the golf course you might be wearing this else around this stuff pretty nice athletes from all kinds golf, getting into golf, basketball, football players, even surfers, I'm a surfer,
Starting point is 00:31:37 surf magazine. Cover guy. New competitive outlet, a way to hang out and enjoy the game differently. It's Hurley with Levelware, a collaboration. Hurley brings that laid-back, board, sports energy, and the collection pulls inspiration from Hawaiian and coastal prints, relaxed, expressive and rooted in lifestyle, levelware, taking that inspiration and bringing it to life
Starting point is 00:31:58 through performance-driven, sustainably made apparel that's actually built to move and play. It's the Fairwaves Collection. Modern golf silhouettes that feel lighter, more wearable, and less rigid, respectful of the game's roots, but definitely not stuck in tradition. The collection is live available on Levelware's website to shop. Go to levelware.com, polos, hoodies, hats, and casuals. Cool. Are you casual?
Starting point is 00:32:23 I'm absolutely, I'm a casual. In every sense of the word, I'm a casual. I try to mix in with some experts once in a while, but, you know, you know. Jack loves to catch it's so good. It's part of our lexicon. It is. It really is. Great shirts.
Starting point is 00:32:40 Are you having more coffee? Do you have any more floral prints? Coffee? Yeah, the pot. A bit of a bit of a tough start here. The coffee pot that they have is tremendous. You put the beans in. Right.
Starting point is 00:32:53 You put the water in and then press the button. It's so it's the grinder and the thing in all in one. Right. Yeah, come on in, buddy. There's only one little. Yeah, you got to put a coffee filter. Oh, the filter. Pay for filter to catch the grounds before the water goes in.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Right. Otherwise, it just goes a spliz. And you get the grounds. Then you get grounds and stuff all over the place. So, yeah. When you're trying to, all right, here we go. We're going to get this day where maybe a quart low. A nice little cup of coffee.
Starting point is 00:33:25 And then you look back and there's spillage all over the counter. It kind of, it sets you back even further. than you were in the first place in some respects. I almost poop my pants yesterday. Nice. Tell us more, Ryan. I was on a distillery tour. Really? Yeah, and I was standing there.
Starting point is 00:33:41 A magic distillery tour? Doing the tap dance. And I'm thinking, oh, dear, this is not ideal. But we survived. I'll take some of that liqueur. Lecure. That distillery tour kind of timing was off. It was just.
Starting point is 00:34:00 So, you know, we're doing our thing in Banniff. We're on the Banefav, just hanging. You thought we'd have, you know, post-victory celebratory beverages. Yeah. It's a big day for Canada, right? Mitchie. Everyone loves Mitchie. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:15 Celebrate for Mitch to Mitch, especially his dad, celebrate for the Mariners, big day for them. And, oh, look at this. There's free distillery tours in about three hours. And they're throughout, okay, the distillery tours are now starting. Are you guys going on the tour? We'd love to. In fact, there's only a few minutes left in this game, and it's won nothing. and so when this game ends, obviously
Starting point is 00:34:33 we'll be on the distillery tour. Then the sweets tie. And it's like, oh, boy, they're not going to flood, are they? And I've committed to this tour. She's asking. And I was like, we're going to start the tour if you're ready to go. And I'm like, oh, Jack, let me know what this is get. Overtime starts.
Starting point is 00:34:50 Trying not to poop my pants. I'm missing overtime. The distillery tour is going on. God damn it. The people working there could not care last about the game. No, it's overtime. They're like, it's now or never. I feel like that distillery tour could have been pushed back.
Starting point is 00:35:03 Yeah. They could have started it at any time. Yeah. I don't know if there was a... There were some lovely people from Saskatoon that were on that trail. Really? Yeah. I haven't really thought about it.
Starting point is 00:35:13 And you are a dirty yank, Jack. Yes. We're obviously focused on how Canadians feel, how the candidates... How do the Americans feel? I was sitting by Jack. Yeah, Retro was sitting by me. There was a little bit of trepidation. There's plenty of skill on that team and they did not pull away.
Starting point is 00:35:28 No, they were not very good. It was a boring game. It kind of was a low event. So low event, one nothing. And then I went to piss. And everyone started yelling. I'm like, fuck. And I knew right away.
Starting point is 00:35:40 He's like, I heard a yell. I'm like, that was me. We go back. It's one, one. And then, yeah, I didn't, I, I just can't trust Hellibuck for whatever reason. I don't know what it is. Yeah. It's like, I don't trust that guy to win the big game.
Starting point is 00:35:56 Whereas like Bennington, we give him shit. I would trust him. Weird. And see, as I sit there and watch that one, I have no faith in Markstrom. It's like he's going to let one in. Oh, my God. It's just going to happen. You had said yes.
Starting point is 00:36:09 I don't think it was on here. We were talking, the pass from Raymond to Zabana Jed. Beautiful. That's quite a pass. They never really got going. I wanted to see more from the suites. Yeah. Like, it's an exciting roster when you look at the talent.
Starting point is 00:36:21 Yeah, but maybe they weren't allowed to get going to those Americans. And that's the way they built that team. They want to check. And is it not the story? And I apologize because I feel like people that are watching this are maybe more dialed in than we. They're not casuals.
Starting point is 00:36:36 They're not, yeah. I feel like we're absolutely the casuals. That's not happy with the coaching. They were trying to... Sully? I think the shines coming off Sully. No, no, no. The sweets. Oh, the sweets.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Yeah, because they didn't play Philip Foresberg almost at all the first game of the tournament. They hardly paid OEL. There's been a lot of controversy with the media versus the head coach. and, you know, it was just a just okay tournament. They lost the Finns and round robin action. Players are, can we get Paul Maurice or can we get somebody in here?
Starting point is 00:37:05 Poor Brassmas, Anderson didn't even play, did he? He was a healthy stretch. He got dusted after, I think, the second or third game. He was in the rafters. Healthy scratch a lot of the way. It's weird with this 13th forward and 7D. I don't remember it being a thing. But now that you're in it, you're like, what do you try to keep them busy?
Starting point is 00:37:23 Do you just pretend they're not there and let them rot? Like, it's, every team's approach. you get a little bit different. Yeah. I know watching that game yesterday with the Gordon Miller and Mike Johnson. And Johnson was, I would try and get this guy involved.
Starting point is 00:37:36 I would get into an intermission. Make sure you're ready. You haven't been playing. So I think it's enough for a coach to try and line match or get combinations and matchups that he wants. Now he said, okay, well, I need to get you at least a shift or two here,
Starting point is 00:37:50 that sort of thing. I forgot you're even on the bench. Yeah. So we're at this point of the tournament. There's four teams left. And it doesn't feel like anyone, is like really just hit their stride playing great. Canada felt like that a game ago,
Starting point is 00:38:03 but not after watching that check, you think not with the karate injury concerns, not the Americans when you only scored once before overtime. It's really an awkward spot in the tournament because you can say here's the most talented roster of this to that, but who's actually feeling that good about themselves? It's the Slovaks. How many, yeah, but how many events have you watched in the Olympics
Starting point is 00:38:24 where a favorite or someone very good falls and that's it and the point I'm getting at is that you get one game yeah that other goalie has a hell of a game yeah your Olympic dreams are over I thought the Dostol yesterday that was my fear yeah like it's going to be it wasn't on a one game winner take all kind of scenario it's you know it's and it's so hurtful with lots of the Olympic events when you watch them. There's the successes, which are amazing, but then there's also so many failures.
Starting point is 00:38:58 You put in a lot of work. So for you, for you, when you... Wipeed out. Yeah, to see how the Americans were held in check, Canada was held in check. Is this a testament to coaches and their ability to try and control? So you get best on
Starting point is 00:39:12 best, you would think you should not be able to keep that level of talent. First of all, the Russians aren't there. that would be a different beast. But I think that just at this level of hockey, the player, I mean, there's a massive cutoff point in international hockey.
Starting point is 00:39:29 Like, I'm sorry, France and Italy. Like, those aren't teams that are really meant to compete. Yeah, there's about seven or eight. Yeah. But that being said, those top teams, they'll have good enough players where they can play a hockey game and shouldn't get just shellacked.
Starting point is 00:39:44 You know what I mean? As good as the Canadians are, as good as the Americans are, there's smart hockey. people on the bench. There's NHL caliber players on the ice and goaltenders who can stop puck. You know what? It's Radko Gudis, right?
Starting point is 00:39:58 It's not midget AAA versus Yeah. It's just to sit and watch and it's Sweden But it's with all this talent The Americans scored one goal Through 60 minutes or whatever it ended up being there. It's kind of I would especially with
Starting point is 00:40:14 Chekiy. I'm just so impressed at what they were able to do. We're going to be physical. We're going to punch you in the mouth. We're going to While we might be overlooking the checks because they're doing it junior hockey as well, they've laid the beats to us. Yeah, it's what three years in a row at the World Junior, they've eliminated Canada. It was semis, semis and quarters or whatever. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:34 It's not been good for the Canadians against the checks. And they all of a sudden are getting some kids that are being drafted very high. And that program has come back in the last 10 years from, you know, back in the late 90s, when they won the Olympics, you had Hassi, had Hasek, it was like, that was. one of the pest and it falls off a bit, now it's back. Tomorrow's going to be a big day. Lots of emotions.
Starting point is 00:40:57 Some, in a way, it's kind of what we want. You want the black hat. You want the best teams there. I don't think we look and say, oh, it's, I think it's Finland, Slovakia. This is. There's who you have to go through to me. There's no real Cinderella.
Starting point is 00:41:11 I know Slovakia. You've got the Americans, the Canadians, but it's not like you feel like this one team has a much easier. path than everybody else. Yeah, I think you'd probably like the finish roster on paper better, but the Slovaks have had the better tournament.
Starting point is 00:41:26 Yeah. And they beat the Finns in the opener. It's like, all right, they're here on merit. They've earned it. And they've quietly taken care of their business with, you know, half a roster of NHLers and some great golding that we did not know a lot about and some guys that are playing in Europe that are good pros to Rhett's point. Like, you might not be the NHL, but you've got guys that have been or you're, you know,
Starting point is 00:41:48 one of the top five league. in the world with big you know your key contributor there you can play that'll be tomorrow it's our own the women's game arch with uh i guess i could look at my he doesn't have the tv on upstairs he's doing some candy crush of the uh jr j's got a setup in here looks great arge appreciate all your efforts you and jack getting us i mean arge you've done some yeoman's work the last 24 hours heavy thing we'd say. Yeah, you've done some impressive, impressive
Starting point is 00:42:23 handling of situations the last 24 hours. Would you call it wrangling? Yeah, it's, yeah, it's, yeah, it's, yeah. Great spot. It's gorgeous in here, great spot. How much wood did we go through yesterday? How much wood would a wood? Yeah, it's a lot. Chucked a lot of wood. Yeah, chucked a lot of wood. I'm going to give you
Starting point is 00:42:44 that there. Yeah, right on. Let's do it. And Rob Pinda, Ryan Pinda. Boys, it is the Pender Report for our good friends at Village Honda. The big buy-in event is back. What does that mean? Well, Villagana wants to buy your vehicle. Maybe an extra one floating around. Maybe you're returning a lease.
Starting point is 00:43:04 Whatever it is, make sure you get your complimentary appraisal done. The Village Honda, they want your car. And here's the thing. If you make a deal, get it done. You're going to pay you with hard cash in your hand 24 hours. Cash, baby. Let's go. Check it out.
Starting point is 00:43:19 start your complimentary appraisal process now at village honda.com. Pinda report, we start with, yeah, this is weird, right? Because we're right in the throes of this winter games thing. Flames lines, practice. Nice, yes. Ew. What?
Starting point is 00:43:38 Come on. No, no, no. It's not the flames. It's just real hockey here soon. So, so, like, we're in this tournament. There's four teams left. We have three overtimes. And it's like, oh, they're going to be.
Starting point is 00:43:49 practicing for the next me. God, that'd be painful. You're like, this, this gear, it's feeling a little tighter and it hurts my sunburn when I wear this pad. The guy's like, I was in a couple's massage in Maui
Starting point is 00:44:05 12 hours ago. What am I doing here? If you've been waiting for top line Yegor, oh, it's it your lucky day yesterday. You've got to give Yeager some credits. He's absolute garbage. One of the greatest Belorussians in the league.
Starting point is 00:44:20 He really is. He's played better. He's our Igor. Yigour, Backl and Cochland, Coronado. Backlant, top one. Goodness. Zeri, Codry, Farabee, Coleman, Frost, and Matt Bay, Gridden, who has been recalled from the H.L. He went back to the All-Star
Starting point is 00:44:34 thing. Your fourth line Lombard Beecher, who's returned, who's returned from injury. Right. He mangled his got hurt in that scrap. Shoulder arm. Next one with the poker tournament. Quiet guy, big boy, nice fella. Quite compared to who?
Starting point is 00:44:50 Me. But everyone is. Yeah, most would fall into that category. Lomburg and Clapper on Beecher's wings. The DePairs Kuznetsov with Weger. You're right. This is bored. Yeah, we got to move on. But I guess what's noteworthy there, like they're going to do this for the next week.
Starting point is 00:45:05 That's what's mind-numbing about this. Is that Coleman is back in a full run and Beecher is back. So, full line up. Beach Daddy. He's back. And they'll do something. Obviously, Huberto is going to go. I-R, they'll have some kind of,
Starting point is 00:45:21 like get it somebody else in. Is it Bill Stromgrant time? Is it Roy Karen's time? What do you do? Is it more Sam Morton, Hank Horton? The Hubertoe story is going to be an interesting one. It does, it feels like a bit of a mercy out, right? Like we just can put that to rest. I see you, I see you're
Starting point is 00:45:40 flummoxed. Well, yeah, what do you mean? Why it'll be interesting. Is there a chance he doesn't play again? What is the level? Well, you'd certainly hate for that to happen. You want everyone to be healthy. But you got to do what's right for your body. You got to do what's right for your body. Think about your kids.
Starting point is 00:45:56 There's a long-term life ahead. That is part of why I say it will be very interesting to watch. You have the highest paid player who's not performed well, who's having major surgery, who is over the age of 30. Oh, he's only making 10 and a half, Dino. What is? Or maybe he'll feel great and come back and whoops a man. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:46:15 Maybe that's what's been. There are multiple potential outcomes. That's the snafu he's going to get through. He does finish the season with under 30 points. Well, okay. That's cheeky. It is, but it isn't. Like, it's not like he played 10 games.
Starting point is 00:46:31 It's not been great. But when you hear there's an injury that he's been playing through, you're like, okay, so at least that maybe explains what's a massive dip from last season, which was not anything close to a banner year, but was at least a respectable season last year. we were yeah we were left a little more hopeful yeah you're like look maybe he's a middle six one that's fine okay makes too much money no big deal he can help this year it's like oh dear we yeah there were lots of days where he was in the lineup but you didn't know yeah he definitely
Starting point is 00:47:03 he was doing some cardio but you didn't notice him it's getting a sweat up and down a few times get off yeah uh okay more pender report we'll keep moving so that was the uh flames and lines here's the thing want to not get too excited, but at the same time, that locomotive, when it gets going down the hill, and it's out of the station, when the old Jackie Bear gets rolling. Sorry to slow him down. Ethan Wittenback. I don't want to get too crazy. Oh, my goodness. I'm gracious again. I know, and it's every
Starting point is 00:47:35 creeping day. Has he even played games since he last? Let's have a look, because he's very likable, and he's really good. I don't have a... It's a pretty cool thing. I think maybe If you said I was leading freshman, I think that would have been a little more realistic at the beginning of the year. If you walked down the street and saw him, that kind of baby face, you say, that's the country's leading score. Yeah, probably not. There's talk of Hobie. Is that almost surreal? Of course. I mean, as an American, especially, like, growing up, college hockey is always the goal.
Starting point is 00:48:05 And now being here and being, I guess, in the conversation for that award, that is obviously the most important award in college hockey. Like, obviously, we've got six regular season games left and a whole playoff run to get. through, but definitely being in the conversation is awesome. Welcome to Johnny Goddreau Award in the USHL. He decided he was ready for college. There was some uncertainty there. He's leading the nation and scoring by nine points as a freshman. He is absolutely in the mix for the Hobie Baker. He is a fifth rounder.
Starting point is 00:48:37 You're allowed to be excited. It's been an outstanding season for a guy that the flame said, you know what? We'll roll the dice here in round five on this talented kid. Great story. It's a great story. Quit a Piac, Bob Katz. I'm sick of hearing about it, but it's a good story. Yeah, I know. You hate prospect this, prospect that, but it's better than what's, uh, what's going on with that, uh, that fifth rounder?
Starting point is 00:49:00 Yeah, I don't know. Is he even, no, he quit hockey. He's actually, uh, he's at the Hertz rental car desk at the airport now. He's not playing. Like, that's not the story here. It's, it's great to have the opposite. Not yet anyway, but I don't think he's going to be working on rents of that desk anytime soon. Anyway, let's keep moving.
Starting point is 00:49:16 Maybe the great benefits. Yeah, the benefits. have a really good health plan. I think the Bobcats probably take care of you. No, no, the rental car. No, I know, but he doesn't have to quit hockey to do that. You know how to take the reservation. Yeah, he just don't know how to keep the reservation.
Starting point is 00:49:31 That's the thing that they had a tough time with on that show. Let's go to the tournament of the games of the winter of Italy and mountains and such with the rings that in the name we can't speak of, but we can just say it anyway. This was a thing yesterday. The huge goal, the Czech scored late to take a lead, which we felt might have stood and been a goal that eliminates Canada, potentially from a tournament they were supposed to win. Oh, no big deal.
Starting point is 00:49:58 There was just six guys on the ice. How in the world does this happen? So Pierre Lebrun of the Athletic and TSN asked the double IHF for comment on the missed call. Six check skaters on the ice for the three two goal. The spokesperson said they reviewed it. Obviously saw what we all saw. There was a miss call. The double IHF says they went through a process.
Starting point is 00:50:19 to select the on-ice officials for this tournament for the best-on-best, and it's best-on-best for officials as well. But, Rhett, officials are human. I thought you're going to say idiots, but okay. No, I'm not saying. Mistakes happen. Everyone involved has regrouped and is focusing on the rest of the tournament. Hey, don't worry, guys, we've regrouped.
Starting point is 00:50:40 Don't get me going on. See, that's the good thing about Red. You think he's going one way and then he gives you the, when there's a chance to pile on the ref suddenly, he's sympathetic to their. to their nature. Maybe you came out of a coma today. Congratulations and great to have you back.
Starting point is 00:50:55 Here's what you missed yesterday because this was quite a contest in our friends at Daily Faceoff. They summarized it nicely. A nice little recap of, so there's this event the Canadians are out. Here's everything you need to know about Canada's overtime quarter final victory against the checks in about 60 seconds. Maclin Celebrity opened the scoring for Canada three minutes and five seconds in.
Starting point is 00:51:15 And from that point, it looked like it was going to be smooth sailing. But five and a half minutes later, Lucas Sedlack evens the scoring at one, giving the Canadians a little bit of discomfort. Still in the first period, Maclin Celebrini gets a questionable interference call where the checks go to the power play. And David Asternak gives the checks the lead in this one, making it 2-1, which is, by the way, the first time Canada has trailed an Olympic Games in the NHL era since the 2010 gold medal game. On to the second period, Canada suffers a major loss when Sidney Cross. has an awkward collision with Radco Gudis and leaves the game with a lower body injury. Not long after Canada goes back to the power play and Nathan McKinnon evens things up at two. On to the third period with just under eight minutes left in the game, Andre Palat opens
Starting point is 00:52:03 things up, giving the checks a lead yet again making it three to two. But this one was not without controversy as there was an egregious miss too many men calls. You can see one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Czech players on the ice. Two of them are going for a change, but still, that's at least six. There were even six of them in the goal celebration. Luckily, that did not face the Canadians or the Montreal Canadiens Captain Nick Suzuki, who gets a high tip to tie things up with just about three minutes left in the third year.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Thanks to three on three overtime we go, where the Czech defenders open the front door, welcome Mitch Marner in and he makes no mistake. The Canadians win this quarter final overtime battle for three. Thanks to a goal. From Mitch Martin. Who's that hairy hippie? Was he in Jasper? That is a Zach Phillips.
Starting point is 00:52:53 I thought it was the Pindor. They should get him a microphone so he's not talking into his laptop. It's the Zachar report there. More great content at DailyFaceoff.com. Dailyfaceoff.com. There you go. Still zeros. They got the line combinations, hey?
Starting point is 00:53:07 Is it still zeros? Is RJ updating it? Oh, I just checked. You have a second screen? Nah, no. I see. All right. Okay.
Starting point is 00:53:16 Well, let's keep moving then, shall we? Sure. Yeah. He mentioned Zach Phillips report Crosby hurt How do we feel? Not great, Bob.
Starting point is 00:53:27 No, I don't like the idea of it. I don't like him being hurt, period. And imagine if you were not just, you know, a fan of the Canadian hockey team, but a penguino fan. If only we had someone we could, oh, hey, Jack, house with the... Yeah, I mean, the photo does not look good.
Starting point is 00:53:46 Did I show you the... Yeah, you did. No, thank you. Oh, dear. Owen We're thinking about you. Teas and peas, my friend. That is rough. Your life's not supposed to turn up.
Starting point is 00:53:56 Oh, I don't want to make light of that. Tees and peas. That is tough. How old is he? Better days ahead. 16, 17. Heal up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:06 Yeah. That's an awkward-looking mohawk you were doing there. I feel like that's, uh, what? A little too casual with that one there. Okay, moon. Okay. Your final four is set. Here's what it looks like.
Starting point is 00:54:23 The morning game tomorrow, Canada, Vins, Slovaks and Yanks go in the afternoon. What's our plan tomorrow? Give us the run down here. So the game is at 8.40 a.m. again? Right? Yeah. Yeah, we'll do the, we'll do it we did yesterday, I believe. Go back upstairs.
Starting point is 00:54:42 Go back upstairs. Do you think we could get food delivered? I think there's also good food. We could probably get that done. Can we get Jamie back on? I got a pizza at about 3am that was not very good, but it was very expensive. Oh, yeah, they like to do that. Yeah, that's the best kind.
Starting point is 00:54:57 At least there was that. Yeah. There's seven-eighths of that pizza still. I had a piece. And it's average this morning, too. Yeah, it didn't get better. Weird. Cold or did you heat it up? I heated it up.
Starting point is 00:55:07 Do we know what time we need to exit the O'Connor cabin? Do not, but they're going to have to do a pretty. Yeah, they're going to want to run a vacuum through for sure. deep scrub. We better get some clarity on our six. Clarity. Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts, love you. CRMR.com.
Starting point is 00:55:30 You can check out the O'Connor Cabin on the website. Yes, you can. Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Unbelievable mountain launch. What a spot. I'd like a few more days here without you guys. Yeah, I was thinking the same. We had dinner at the prowl last night.
Starting point is 00:55:41 It was great. We talked about that. The chicken supreme was unbelievable. Was it Liz? Yes. Liz from Niagara Falls. That's right. The old son downer.
Starting point is 00:55:53 Rett's eyes lit up. So where are you, so are you from? Niagara Falls. Oh. What? Shut. Shut the front door.
Starting point is 00:56:01 The mist. I lived in, well, have you been here? Yes. It was just, how do you like it? I love it.
Starting point is 00:56:08 It was wonderful. Really connecting with the locals. So what was interesting is, um, we had people at different spots arriving at the same place. So Dino had a nice little afternoon slumber. well, boom daddy had a little hibernation. And the rest of us came in pretty hot to the old crowd.
Starting point is 00:56:27 Oh, yeah. Yeah. And the back-to-back espresso martini orders did not slow the trains. And that was very early. They were good. Very good. And I feel like for people where the odometer was revving as high as it was, we did okay there. Yeah, but you're again.
Starting point is 00:56:45 But we were the ones that were. When you're the loud person, that you don't realize. how loud. When your odometer's in the red, you're the one. You're not really... Loud guy thought it wasn't too loud. Yeah. Weird. We're out of the crammed men. So there's...
Starting point is 00:57:00 We can't make any more of the martinis. We've done 12 espresso martinis. Okay. Well, we'll pivot. Fair enough. We're flexible. The women underway still zeros. I believe so. The Americans were heavily favored. We can show you the odds here.
Starting point is 00:57:17 This is good for your bet three six five. Yeah, the under or like, we need an MPP goal. What was, what's her name again, Jack? Oh, boy. Canadian captain. That was, uh, Philipod. Philipod. Yeah, Corey Philpott.
Starting point is 00:57:34 Corey Philpott. Yeah, nice. Thanks, John. Excellent work. Minus 450. That is a heavy favorite. The Americans, the difference between these two teams, 20 to 25 year olds. The Canadians have almost none.
Starting point is 00:57:47 The Americans have a bunch. speed, youth, and they've had their way with the Canadians this year. But it's a one game showdown, and they can happen, right? You can do your best Radco Gudis. That, Guudis was awesome. Yeah, awesome.
Starting point is 00:58:00 Well, we're going to need something to come through for us. Come on, ladies' team, let's go. The W.HL Prospects game was on yesterday, and while many normal sane humans would take a vacation, our boy, Noodles was working because he hates not working. And it does not like vacationing. So you literally cross a continent
Starting point is 00:58:22 to go to chat with Kammy Kepke and watch the Wachau Prospects game where we had this occur because Joe Eginla is now draft eligible. Teage, of course, two years ago to Utah. Come on. Thanks, Joe.
Starting point is 00:58:37 Tilt last night. Joe? Joe. Brick it out of Dean. Mm-hmm. Be able to get a right hand in on what looks like Joe Aguilah. Hops right back up and then loses his balance.
Starting point is 00:58:48 Well, they both go down and finally they will be separated by our two linesmen. And this one tonight, Braden Cameron and Brandon Peterson. Yeah, we definitely need the linesman. Yeah, we're definitely, what do you say about officials, right? They're huge. So, Joe, this is actually what I do love about Junior Prospect games is it's not like an all-star game where it's not an all-star broadcast. Oh, I mean. It looks like I don't, I'm in the bill.
Starting point is 00:59:18 It looks like it might be him. We've got a couple of officials and then we'll just have some dead air. Peterson was Olson, one of the Saskatoon Blades. Plates were making some. Klimke was there. Limkeke, Cooper Williams. Danbridge, Jack. Danbridge, Jack.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Danbridge. Danbridge. Danny. time jack said yesterday that uh when he went to that school tambridge yeah higher learning that's where he just needed a coach did they teach you how to read that i was going to say i think tangerge would like us to stop talking about that they really would marry flat plan uh i read chapter one spice it was a lot of fun but yeah there was not a lot of word chatered woo It was like five kids
Starting point is 01:00:12 Yeah. There's some minor pro hockey going on in the States and check out this wall of beers that these fans have built in the corner. This is great work. This is like RJ, some heavy lifting. Yeah. Done here. The fellas have built a wall of cans in the corner.
Starting point is 01:00:31 And warm up is happening. All we need is a big hit in the corner. Dreams are made of, you know. Nice. I like it. Let's see it. six, seven feet there. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:43 That is actually similar, if not equivalent, the number of espresso martinis would be hit messing. So good for everyone involved. It would take away some of the viewing. Hard to see through. That's warmies, right? So, you know, once my gold wraps up and someone hits the glass. A lot of times security, they just frown.
Starting point is 01:01:02 Remember, I think there was one in the NFL. The guy came along just knocked the tower over. When you get the beer snake going, They frown on that. The blue bombers are good at the old beersnake. Yeah. They just don't want people have fun anymore. Games changed.
Starting point is 01:01:18 Jack, how would you spell? If someone got ink, like, injected into their skin to make art, what would you call that? A tattoo. How would you spell that? Well, I know, because I spelled this wrong, so it's not right. T-T-O-O-O. Yeah. That's actually pretty damn good there.
Starting point is 01:01:36 Check out this one. You're going to love this. I thought we're going to get a touch too. So this is just yesterday. I got it on my phone. Oh, you got it. Nice. Jack will throw it up.
Starting point is 01:01:44 So here's the thing when you've got the elbow there. So it looks like you got a grilled cheese, but then when you open it. Oh. Cheese spreading out. Right. Isn't that nice? Oh, wow. So stupid.
Starting point is 01:02:00 Getting starved. Oh, that looks good. Yeah. At least you're not living with that forever. At least it's a gag that you can... Got bad news about that. Be done with... Does Dr. Jay and the Salae Laser remove tattoos?
Starting point is 01:02:17 I'll get it done out. I'll get it taken off after lunch. You got to like a grilled cheese. You got to love a grilled cheese. That is your pinned report on this Thursday, February 19th, if that indeed is the day that the Canadians are still tied with the... Zero zero and one. There you go.
Starting point is 01:02:34 20 minutes in. Our good friends at Village Honda, want to buy your vehicle. You're excited about the prelude coming back. It's been reimagined. Rhett, you can look back. In hindsight, bright eyes, the hot high school girls in the preludes, they're back.
Starting point is 01:02:51 The prelude is back. Trinandum. VillageHonda.com, Northwest Dotemal. Your dealership. Full life. There you go. There you go. All right.
Starting point is 01:03:02 Well, what, um, this is, again, this is self-serving. It's not really for any of the people. necessarily. Although there might be a live stream
Starting point is 01:03:12 later. What do we anticipate this day looking like? I would like more of that charcutorily yesterday. Yeah. What did you call it? The redneck charkooter? It's a little redneck charkootter? Just some garlic sausage and pickles and some cheese and crackers? No, this is a question that may be contentious, but what kind of pickle do we want for the redneck chakouture?
Starting point is 01:03:33 Just like, just a garlic dill pickle? You don't want a sweet one? No. I don't like that. I don't like that. I don't like that. No. No, it was, it's, uh, it was a garlic dill. The somewhat limited were the options at the, the IGA yesterday, but, um, got some cheese. Too many crackers out there now. I get the, you know, variety is the spice of life, you know, but you get those little kind of melba toast things that are going to cut the roof of your mouth.
Starting point is 01:04:01 You don't want that. It's good for doing some dipping because it's rock hard, but, uh, it's not good for eating. We just went old school. I was going to go bacon dippers, but they didn't have any. We just went old school writs. Ritz are hard to beat. Ritz crackers. Forever for a reason.
Starting point is 01:04:16 Yeah. What do you call that coil of the meat there? Yeah, that's some garlic sausage. Garlic sausage. Yeah, and got the regular garlic and then some Ukrainian garlic sausage. And both was wonderful. Pickles, cheese, crackers, and salted or cured meats. The cured meats and Freebird at full volume.
Starting point is 01:04:37 as we were heading out on the town. That was how we launched into the dark night. It was a turning point of the evening. Goodness. Yeah. Things took a direction after Freebird. And so if we were keeping track, it was the coffee baillies with the game
Starting point is 01:04:52 and then the breakfast with Caesar. That was a long shift. And then the celebratory distillery tour where we almost put our pants and Jack missed the game time golden through period. And then from there to the espresso martinis and then here for the poker live stream. You make another stop too?
Starting point is 01:05:07 after you had it in least one more i mean you rat was doing a little chamber of commas tour i saw him in the old he was talking with the the the fellows at the old dispensary there nope that was doing we were doing shining shining where there is you got some fudge we're getting clit some things you do have a coffee go to the fudge place
Starting point is 01:05:33 get some delicious fudge the candy store now if something wasn't sharp what would the do that be? Blunt? Would it be dull? What are you doing? What? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:05:46 The fudge? No, he's trying to be funny. Chamber commerce. He's shaking hands. He's really trying to be funny. Get your vote for a mayor of Banff. But you, yeah, so it was coffee and then coffee bailey's. And then Cesar's at lunch.
Starting point is 01:06:01 And then, so there was a slurpy machine at the distillery. Yeah, it just kept going and going and going. Stein was a leader of beer. We had a 6 o'clock reservation at the prow, and you were kind of right about here at about 6 o'clock. And then your staying power is unmatched. Next thing you know, you're at the Mackers at 2 a.m. Yes. God, there's a lot of Ozzy's here.
Starting point is 01:06:24 And you're rolling in here at 3 or whatever with the pizza? I'm like, I can't do Macas. So I ended up at the bad pizza place. It was very expensive, but not good. And then you had to wait for the taxi a bit. And then you had to make sure that some of these Aussies got home. They're wearing like golf shirts. I don't what the hell they're doing.
Starting point is 01:06:38 It's in the warm here. I've been here for three weeks. You idiots, it's minus 25. Get a fucking jacket. Yeah. Get them home safe and then come back up, deliver pizza. And, uh, yeah, have a little caucus here. Ted of tete's, good times. What a day.
Starting point is 01:06:53 That was, yeah, that was a shift. We're going to do a little, uh, Dino nap daddy today. That's what our day is looking at. Yeah, I'm curious what this day is going to look like. I'm looking for our to Dino getting on the grill there. Oh, you're the breakfast. Oh, I don't. You're the breakfast guy.
Starting point is 01:07:08 we have for breakfast i feel like this thing wretcher what do we have i don't know i didn't go this you know you're shop what do we yes you're sitting right there like we've talked about it already eggs bacon he's had to toast drink he's already

It was a, I mean, it was a group effort to come together. It's like some out of the ditch. Yes. We had some super chats last night during our poker game.
Starting point is 01:07:53 We did. Jesus. I forgot the board. So if we were going to do another live stream, just a spur of the moment, what do you think it would encompass today? Well, we got cribbage and backgammon. Yeah, it's got to be some other. We didn't. I'm not going to encompass me because I don't want any part of...
Starting point is 01:08:10 I think what we were really dreaming on is that you would have been asleep when we came back. Oh, I know. You could have come in and had a little live stream on Nap Daddy there. No, I went to get some bamboo. We replenished the bamboo stock. This was yesterday after lunch. Got some bamboo going. Went to the grocery store.
Starting point is 01:08:31 Got some Jack, I need some snacks. So we bought a bunch of snacks and Jack hasn't had any of them. got stuff for breakfast, got some goodies. Did I see the Hawkins? And then came back here. And, yeah, that game was on. The U.S. Sweden game. So I started watching that.
Starting point is 01:08:47 This is kind of dull. Brigh and hockey game. It was really low. It was not very good. And then it's, oh, now it's whatever it was, 4.4.30. Dinner's at 6.
Starting point is 01:08:56 Not super tired. I mean, it's just kind of chilling out. Yeah, I've got a little bit of maybe a 40 minute per, me half an hour. Perfect. Jealous. And then got the text. hey, we're drunk and need a ride.
Starting point is 01:09:08 So that's not happening. We're either going to taxi or you're going to pick us up. I'm not going to have Jack honking in my GMC Sierra Denali from the Irish pub. I forgot a chef. We were trying to explain how to split the G on the Instagram. You were trying to do their best. I'd be disappointed if you didn't get back on the horse today. You know me.
Starting point is 01:09:29 I do. We'll be fine. All right. Fantastic. So thanks for the super chats. Everybody is. Appreciate it. guys. Thanks for helping us out here. We're hung over
Starting point is 01:09:37 his shit and you can't even give us goddamn money for the kids. Well done. Well done. Thank you, RJ again. RJ is the glue. He is the glue. This thing together. Thanks again to CRMR, Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts for their tremendous hospitality.
Starting point is 01:09:53 How lucky are we? You're fancy. You have been to you've been to very nice places in your life. This is as nice as it gets. If being in the mouth, having, you're right in the heart of the mountains, it's a, it's perfect. It's beautiful.
Starting point is 01:10:11 Look out the window. Yeah. It is a beautiful spot with trees and snow and we're in a cabin fireplace. If you have, you know, a couple families, you're going to come out to the, you can get a hotel room. You can, obviously, there's all kinds of options here at the, uh, at Buffalo Mountain Lodge, but this. This is tremendous. Right. Some people reaching out said, hey, I got a softball thing in the summer.
Starting point is 01:10:30 That's the word on this. Oh, okay. Conor Cabin. On a cabin. It's go. Worth every penny. Love it. Tomorrow, early start.
Starting point is 01:10:37 We'll be there for the live stream. We'll watch the semis of the games as Canada looks to advance to the gold medal final. We'll be at our very best. And a big breakdown of the women's matchups. That's right. You should send Willie Neiman in a note because Canada is Finland tomorrow. Yeah, probably won't. Okay.
Starting point is 01:11:00 Well, see you, buddies. See you, buddies.
