And what's interesting, you talk about, because I was going to say, hi, I saw somebody say there was one opportunity for the Oilers five-on-five high danger.

And somebody you had said, zero, I'd have seen both. So it's, you know, I guess depending on what. I mean, let's average it out and call it half a scoring chance. Yeah. Which is, again, who's sitting there and saying that's high danger, that isn't high danger? I don't know how we necessarily. They're nerds to do it and they're better out of the last. You know, whatever.

And also the percentages I've seen 88%, like 90%, the probability of winning a series, there's the probability of winning a seven game series, and then the probability of winning the Stanley Cup final. Yeah. When leading two to nothing. Either way, I'll cut through the gibberish for you. Yeah.

It's pretty good. It's pretty good. You're up to nothing. You're in a good spot. So all you have to do is not lose four of the next five. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. Game one, it was a lot of oilers. Lots of shots, lots of scoring chances. But Brovsky was tremendous. Sure was. It was a fliperuny, a spinnerooly last night as the oilers struggled to generate much of anything. Credit to the Florida Panthers. And it's weird because we've seen teams that have been able to, we're going to limit you.

Would you call it suffocating? Because I still felt like it was entertaining hockey. It didn't feel like it was a slog fest. Although I guess if maybe you're an oiler fan or you're watching, it maybe felt like they were in mud a little bit. I don't know. I was watching it. I was watching it. I think it was one one.

And I said to the other people on the couch, I was like, it feels like Florida's losing. I don't know why. I just had the sense that they weren't putting them away. Missed opportunity. Monterey missed in the empty net. Bennett had a couple amazing opportunities.

Boy, he's a good player, but he's never going to score a lot, hey? Like, it's just that touch. It's not natural for him. That one in tight when he missed the net by a foot and a half.

And then he walks in on the breakaway and you're like, you know, that's a good save from Skinner. But still, you're like, yeah, like he might never score 30. And that's okay. Yeah. But that's not what, you know, Central scouting when they put him number one, which is draft. You're right for me is that I can't win my Con Smyth if he's not putting those in. It's true because you have that. You're in a long series and a lot of Benicles.

And on the other side, haven't seen much of, uh, well, we've seen dry sidel, but for different reasons. Three oiler forwards credited with a shot on goal last night. Three.

That's wild. Isn't that crazy? And I guess five on five or total? Total. McDavid had three, dry sidel two, Heim and one. The rest was Kulak and Ekholm and Bouchard. Crazy. That is.

Not a formula you're going to want to write down, put in your pocket and break out in game three. Yeah. So the stick to the script message didn't work. For who? If you were an oilers. Well, they didn't stick to it. Or a coach.

You were saying... We're in good shape. We play the same way we played in game one. We're fine. Yeah. And they didn't, right? There were a lot of positive wives after game one, right? Sure.

We feel good. We're just fine. How many moral victories do you win the cup? Is it four or is it five? I think it's more than four. I think you need four real victories. And then maybe one or two morals could be in there. Yeah, yeah.

They're going to need a real one pretty quick. If I would say in the next couple of days, if they don't get a real one. If you were holding on to your game six ticket, in Edmondson. Yeah. You know, if you, if you surrender to game four, three or four for the game six, because weren't we talking about that with Frank yesterday that, uh, I'm not going to go to three or four.

You can't get ahead of yourself, kids. Yeah. Things happen quick. The game Thursday, right? Yeah. Oiler power play cannot score. Hasn't scored anyway. I think it can. It just hasn't. And the penalty kill, which had been perfect for about a month.

Jeez. The last time the Oilers penalty kill allowed a goal was May 12th, game three against the Canucks. went through the entire Dallas series. The game one obviously in this year. And the meat of that Kinnock series too, Dean. 34 straight without allowing a goal. Impressive for sure. A good little checklist that Florida's done. Shut down the offense.

Get rid of that pesky penalty kill streak. And yeah, we'll just allow one goal in two games. It didn't look good. That penalty player, it did look good to penalty kill. The power play was not too sharp early on. It said again, my comments to the fellow couchers, they need to hang on to the puck. How many people were on the couch?

Oh, lots. We had a big group. Yeah, because you've mentioned it now twice that you were talking to the people on the couch. Yeah, I was wondering. There's two others. A child and a woman. They were related.

Woman. Listen to me, woman. But yeah, the, the Panthers here. Of course, they have the shutout in game one. They allow the single last night. They gave up one to the Rangers, I believe, in the clinching game of last series. That's a good run. Dave tight.

And your boy, Bob even let a soft one in. So really, he hasn't allowed shit. Yeah, shit burger. Although I give credit. That's a, you placed it pretty nicely, even if you weren't aiming in there. Yeah, whatever. It's a soft either way, right? It's a rister from at home.

If you lose the game on that one, you're a little more upset, Bobber would be anyway. Yeah. It's the only one you're going to allow in two games. probably okay with it. You're all right. Yeah. Now is this high danger? It doesn't feel high danger.

It's four and four, so it's not five on five. So it probably shows up as an even strength high danger, but not a five on five high danger because it's four and four. Yeah. That's probably your discrepancy on the scoring chat high dangers. Yeah. I mean, if you put, if you put dry settle into that exact same spot, you're goddamn right. It's high danger. Now, are you happy with Eckholm's confidence or are you thinking, slide that over?

I can't really critique what happened. No, you can't. It's a terrible, terrible choice. Yeah. Like you can definitely try to make a pass and it doesn't get through. But you're right, it is the German on the other side. I like it. No, I'm serious.

And if you're at home, God bless him. You've got to have the confidence to make the shot. I don't, again, I think of the playoffs. He's been good. But you know what he's thinking too, maybe, Rhett? If I get a rebound, it might go right to as the German. He did go low. If this goes off of Bobber's pads, it might be.

I can just tell you what I'd have been doing if, egg was coming down the other side and it was probably not put one a muffin on that yeah that's fair no at home had said i've been to the finals guys i was there with nashville when we lost to the penguins the key is we can't wait too long in the series to get started because you just run out of runway and it's too late get on my back he gave him the pep talk yeah no one was listening although i mean game one they were good they're right they just they were pretty good and you're right they just they were pretty good game one in all. Yeah. And so, you know, the better goalie was the better goalie in game one.

Yeah. You knew Bob's the better goalie. Everyone in the world could tell you that. Last four periods, though, roughly, it's been a lot of Florida. Yep. And if you want to stretch back to game 60, you know, against Dallas, that's two of the last three for the Oilers where they have not been able to create anything at even strength. Yeah.

Fatique? Here's Elliot Freeman talked about it yesterday. It's a, it's the war of attrition. It was a, there was some, some damage, some heavy, heavy damage sustained on, really for both sides last night. You saw Ekblad get tangled up with McDavid in behind the net. And those two are their buddies. Those two are buddies going way back. Fell down, kind of fell on his ankle, that sort of thing.

We saw a couple knee on knee hits, Lost Drainon goes down with Fogel. We'll talk about that. but certainly it feels like it's more so on the oiler side. Already we talked about Evander Kane yesterday, not taking morning skates. This is nothing necessarily new. But he's not right. And then early in the game, Darnel Nurse

takes a rather innocent looking, but was not the same. We talk about it, right? Finish your checks. It doesn't need to be bone crushing. It just adds up. It's a cumulative thing. Over time, you just keep banging and banging. And for that one there, you're right.

I think it was Evan Rodriguez, wasn't it? who takes nurse into the sideboards. And it looked to be a bit of a hip injury. He did sort of, he was pointing at his hip. Is that what he could have been a hip pointer. Really? Is that what he, uh, yeah. Could be a hip pointer. If it's a hip pointer, you'll be all right.

It'll stick that big long cortisone needle in there and it'll go right away. Yeah. So, but here's the thing. More Panthers went down the tunnel last night, if I'm correct. Because you had Ekblad who screamed and left the ice. Rodriguez early before he scores a pair. He did this. He was like, Ben.

My, my, uh, uh, medulla oblongata. My cerebral cortex got clunked on the ice there. Okay. Listerainen and then Barkov leaves and doesn't come back. So did it? Yeah. But again, three oilers leave. Uh, nurse kind of comes back.

Leon comes back. Cain's hurt, but he's playing. And four Panthers leave. Three of them come back. came is playing this full war of attrition the thing is nurse came back but he played three shifts the rest of the hockey game he was essentially a non-contestant the remainder of that hockey game for for knob so what do we see in there is that the moral support on the bench how do you take two shifts and not four or why you're not taking zero instead of two like i just two that's i don't want to go to the room or maybe it's one of those things where he did take the the horse tranquilizer like you said and he keeps waiting for it to, I'm going to go out for a twirl. Yeah. Not yet. I was trying a TV timeout to the end of periods and stuff.

Not yet. But luckily for the Oilers, and we've talked about it a lot, depth at D is their strength. They've just got a plethora of NHL defensemen waiting. Well, when they noted defenseman Adam Henrique, that went into deeper. Yeah. So there it is. Vinnie Dayharnay came back in last night. Top four, Vinnie.

That's a big ask. and and then nurse was unavailable for much of the, C.C. Yeah. There's a scratch. C.C. DeHarnay, that's going to be an interesting. Well, who's going to go to the left side? A couple days.

Maybe nurse can get back in there. Either way, it played a factor last night. They were short-handed, regardless of what you think of nurse, right? Oh, the guy should play. He's terrible. He's great, whatever. He logs minutes. And Bouchard was north of 30. at by the time it was all said and done. So not ideal.

But then on the other side, we, I guess do we want to talk about the Fogel thing or get right to the, the big one? Well, chronologically, you start with Fogel and then we get to, we'll go Fogel. It was the big one until it wasn't, right? Yeah, it's a neon knee hit unless,

I guess it was. Five in a game is what it ends up being. Thoughts on this retro? And you can't call a thing. five minute kneeing major without the game just so people know that's not an add on that's just when you call a five minute knee it's automatically coming with a game misconduct that's the

rule book my thoughts my thoughts are it's a knee and that the how do you say his last name Losterinen Losterinen played it up real good Rineen played it up real good it's also probably a Charlie horse

and I'm sure it heard I'm not saying it didn't hurt but he was making the most of it It was, they, I'm pretty sure he knew that there was a chance that they were going to get five out of this. I feel like it'd be one of those things where when the trainer comes scooting over. Stay putt. Yeah. I'm fine. I'm going to milk it here for a little bit.

But to be fair, fellas, if it is a Charlie Horse, is that not exactly what happens? Is it feels like you're dead for about 10 minutes and then you're fine? Like, that's kind of what we saw. No, you don't feel fine. But, but you know what I mean? Like, I think for someone to say, oh, he's faking. It's like, that could be. the case, but if it's a Charlie horse,

it also kind of fits the bill, doesn't it? Yep, but he asked my opinion, and that was my opinion. Yeah, and it, there's a good chance. It did hurt at the time. Yeah. He may have been in some discomfort. You can do both. It can hurt and you can milk it. Yeah. Yeah, you could do that for sure.

But the, I, you think, okay, here's a five minute man advantage. Didn't do a whole lot for the Panthers. And then it goes four on four in the oilers snore on it. So, but I guess between nurse being gone for much of the game and then Fogel is gone. It's a depleted lineup.

You've got to spin some guys through. But the big one, obviously, is later in the hockey game, 1032, third period, Alexander Barkoff along the wall and Leon Drysidal. The one angle they show, I don't think we have it, but he knows what he's doing. He's going to take a bit of a run as you would. It's the playoffs, the Stanley Cup final. And he comes in, loads up. And jumps into Alexander Barkov.

Not into his chest, everything up and into his face. He clunks him on the chin. Now, Barkov is kind of bent over, reaching down, whatever. But I think that the intention here, and you can't penalize intent, dry Sal is coming in to lay the boom. He's going to try and crush this guy. He's fully aware of who it is. now,

Barkov leaves. Is it a broken jaw? Is it a concussion? Is it an injury of any kind? Maurice was asked afterwards, is there, was he going to be able to play? Listen,

I'm not keeping them out. It's a stout. It was 2-1 at the time of the hit. There's nine minutes left, which is correct. But what also is important context is that it's soon after, it's 3-1.

And at that point, why even bring him back? Yeah. So, or he could be toast for the series. Who knows? Mr. Warner, is this a suspendable offense? Or let's start here.

Is it a penalty? Is it a two minute penalty? If it was anybody other than dry sidle, does he get more than that? And is it a suspendable offense? The suspendable's tough. But if Barkov's hurt, then they've based suspensions on guys being hurt before. So, yeah, I don't know how you do it in the playoffs because they're not going to announce that he's hurt. This is kind of the cat and mouse game that's going to be.

be played because you've got two days off and the Department of Player Safety will want to know the medical status of Barkov and the Florida Panthers teammates coaches offered nothing in terms of an update not even a we hope he's good we're not sure just no comment like don't have anything to tell you at all well if it's a broken jaw it won't be hard to figure out correct um like he could be done for the series or he could be good to go for game three there's a huge range of outcomes here I would think the Department of Player Safety wants to know where he is on that spectrum before they say whether it's a fine, a suspension, or nothing at all. It's an elbow and he left his feet. Yeah. And if you break your guy's jaw doing that, it's absolutely a

suspension. That's not crazy. It's not hyperbole. Part of the equation is, is the guy hurt from what you did? Fair or not, the two same actions with different outcomes or entry have different suspensions. That's how they roll. The only issue I will say is that you're putting a lot of faith into the Department of discipline. You're assuming that it's going to be cut and dried and black and white and that's how it's going to go. Because you're right, history has dictated injuries, that's what they play. It's a factor.

Would you be flawed if there's no suspension, even if Barkoff doesn't play game three? You can't be. It wouldn't be floored. No. Of course not. You're right. It's, it's too crazy to see this didn't even get a call and this got four games and this got six and this got one. I mean, it's an incredibly difficult job. It's

also mind-numbing. how inconsistent they can be. But again, I think they're slowly getting a little bit better at least. And if you break a guy's jaw with your elbow and you left your feet, how's that on a suspension? That's just it. There are a lot of criteria that have been met with this one. Right.

And it's not a last minute always getting by me throw an elbow out. No, you're going out of your way to go do that. I'm going to be lined up. I'm jumping and you're taking one of my elbows into kisser. You're making a decision to do that. That is not a reaction. That is not a things happen quick. You went to go do that.

And that's fine. Like I think Barkov's probably fine. I think there should be nothing here. But everything changes if Barkov's hurt. Boy, I wonder. I don't know. You don't know what? I don't know if he's okay.

I wonder if there is an injury there. So there's, is it something he can play through is the question. Can you come out with? The old Joe Newendike jaw protector that we saw in 1989. New and Mike, let his stick to the talking. Like that, if it, is it, is it something you have to go check in the room? Yeah, it is. Okay, now it's 3-1.

There's no point bringing him back. If we can't protect the two-goal lead with seven minutes left. Wow, you can also have him on the ready. Yeah, yeah. Okay, it's overtime. Now we're bringing him back. Like, and look, he could be done, Dino, for the series. I just think that Paul Maurice would say,

say a lot different things at the podium if he knew that that was a broken jaw. Because why even let people think it might be nothing if it is a broken? Well, let's hear what, like Maurice Kachuk was asked about it. He said, I'm not commenting. Yeah. Maurice didn't say anything about it. And then it's actually Pierre Lebrun who doubles back and asks about Maurice and his thoughts

in the hit. How do you feel about the hit on Barkoff? This isn't the Oprah Winfrey show. My feelings don't matter. Love it. So it's enough to, uh, it's, it's enough to know that he's, he's seething. He's salty. Um, but you don't really expect them to come out and play that card right away. Would he say that if his, his captain's jaw was broken, make an Oprah Winfrey joke?

I don't think he was, I don't, I don't think he was joke in there. I think he was pissed off last night. Again, I don't know what. So what do you, what do you expect? Because again, we've talked, they've got two. days between games. He's been in the room. Maurice comes off the bench into the room. I'm sure he's had his trainer in his ear talking to him about what Barkov is.

But do you think if he knows that the jaw's broken, he's going to come out and give the full laundry leave? What's your best chance of getting Leon suspended? Because that's the biggest thing that can happen here aside from you losing your guy is if my guy's gone, they better lose that guy. He didn't do anything to feed the fire of getting Leon suspended. You can do that today if he needs to or tomorrow. but if he knows

Barkov is done for the series his job in that press conference is to get everyone convinced that Leon Drysidal has to miss hockey games and he didn't do anything like that. He made a joke about Oprah Winfrey. My feelings don't matter. Coach's feelings matter all the time. That was tacked. That's my interpretation of it.

Yeah, and that's an interpretation and I'm not going to debate you on it because you can interpret it however you want. I just, I didn't think the hit looked vicious, but I didn't think the baddard one earlier this year when he broke his jaw looked like a job. It doesn't take much, right? It's just the right angle or whatever. And again, I do think everyone's okay here, but, but, um,

and I'm trying to read tea leaves. Like could be till they're wrong here, obviously. Yeah. Um, the one thing that popped into my mind afterwards was when the flames played the jets and Maurice was coaching Winnipeg and Kachuk sliced Shifley's leg. There's a dirty, dirty play. It's a guy knows what he's doing. And, uh, it was the Oprah Winfrey show.

He had plenty to say that. that time. So I don't know. We'll find out in a couple days. But I am curious to see how both sides handle this to your point because there's nothing coming out of the Florida room. There's interesting dynamics to it. Sorry for interrupting you.

But like the leagues, they should be looking at it, right? Have to, yeah. And the Panthers can give them vague we're not sure if he's going to be okay. We're not, how are we supposed to know? We're not sure if he can play or not. We don't think he's going to play, but How do we know?

Could the league say like we need to see an x-ray if you're going to claim it like is it broken or not? Can you answer us that? I think you should be able to answer that. There's no way he doesn't get x-rays last night. Yeah, I don't know.

But what, like I get your point. I just don't know what. I don't know. If it's broken jaw, you have to have to have a suspension. If it's not, I just don't think there is one. I would just sit on.

Either way, I would sit on it. I'm not, I'm not playing any cards that night. Let's get, let's collaborate our story and find out. What's the, best thing we could do here. What's the smartest thing? Is it to come out right now and say it's broken? He's done for the series? Or what do we do? I would probably take a beat and just see what

we wanted to do. So the fact that he didn't say anything, I don't see as a big bonus for the Oilers as far as maybe avoiding a suspension. But either way, we can move on. Because like you said, no, and it's a good point you made on the Kachuk thing. I'd forgotten about that. Yeah. Um, my God, I have got some. somebody phoning me. It's like the fifth time. Can you answer it? This would be good.

It's an O2 hole. We talked about the percentages. It's not good. Game three is going to be. Game three is going to be an absolute banger. However, that's said. But a night where the offense comes up with nothing. Again, they've scored one goal in the series. You can talk about penalty kills and

goal tending and all that sort of thing. One goal through two games. Not enough. Power play has not scored Connor McDavid asked about it after. We got to work our way out of it. It always starts with work with our group. They're a unique penalty kill, just like they're a unique team. They're aggressive. We've got to have guys ready for the puck. We've got to have guys making good plays. You've got to strength good plays together and we haven't been able to do that. Yeah, that's exciting. It's exciting. It's another opportunity for our group to come together and dig our way out. It's supposed to be hard. It's supposed to be difficult. And I'm excited to see what our group's made of. I'm excited to see our group come together.

I'm excited to see us fight through adversity and looking forward to people doubting us again. You know, we're good with the backs against the wall. you look at the Evanston Oilers down 3-2 to Vancouver and down 2-1 to Dallas everything after that and those series was almost perfect for them their best to hockey the playoffs

They trot old Stanley out there and plop them down. I liked it. I thought it kind of set the table and got things kind of, let's go. But I know some people were bitching, oh, no, it's, that's your, the cup is in the building moment. Now that's ruined for later in the series. I say more. Maybe they just don't trust Philip Pritchin.

Yeah. No. It's late. Remember when he was late in Chicago because of the water? I think that Phil had a, had a night and woke up late and was like, oh, my God, I got to get the. With that hair all over the place. Hair in place. It's hair everywhere when he's actually on.

That is true. Yeah. It's a hell of a disguise. You know what? I thought it was cool, too, because I'm full disclosure. I've been to so many cup parties. I've never touched the thing, which is weird. I don't know why I'm an idiot.

I'll never win it. It doesn't matter. But for some reason, I feel like I haven't earned it and deserve it. So I've never touched it. Most of my buddies have, which is great. And the guys that have won, I've been to, you know, my Commodores, Ray Whitney's, Chris Bronger, you name all my buddies who've won the cup. I've been to, been to these parties.

But it's more about the respect for it. I thought it was really cool. It's like, hey, guys, you know, you've got four to seven games to pick this thing up right here. I thought it was awesome. It just, you know, some of the things that I've witnessed so far, this is the other thing, too. And I can't take credit for it. It was Hayes on our show, you talked about it. But he said, the league, it's not a government.

You can set your own rules. So the league goes, hey, we're going to put the cup there. Great. So be it. So I thought it was pretty impressive. For me, I thought it was pretty cool to see it there and see both teams and how they reacted. Some guys weren't looking. Some guys were looking going like, I want that thing.

So I loved it. Yeah, we talked about it. You really can't overuse it. It's the greatest trophy in sport. And for all the things the NHL does, you scratch your head and you wonder if there wasn't a better way to do it, by all means, lean into the cup. That's one of your best things. you've got attached to your brand yeah that's a great point just you know that's one thing that

nobody will argue about it's like hey that's an unbelievable trophy the history i i i mean i still don't like that it has a keeper i i i you know you got some of phil going on today what's that why do you hate phil pritchard it's not phil's fault bill has a great job and apparently he like plays guitar and does all these things like he's like part of the party that's what i heard But I just also like the stories that I heard from guys who won it before it had a keeper. So I got plenty of Stanley Cup stories of what those guys got up to in the 80s. Well, those guys also lost it. So I think that was part of it. Yeah. That was the problem. Yes, he ruined it for everyone. Grant told me a crazy story of like him and Glenn Anderson, like, sitting with it. And it was on the boulevard and cars were driving by.

And they just jumped in a car and left it there by accident. And, you know, Grant said he woke up in Hawaii one time and forgot his car at the rink for like 10 days. It was like, there are stories. This is like Bernie Lomax type of stuff where you're like, this is like it's unbelievable, but believable. Yeah. Well, you know, Elliot used the word last night, attrition. both of these teams had relatively decent stretches of time to rest up and get ready for this series. But yet here we are.

We're through two games and already it, you know, there's a lot of icebags and a lot of injuries to talk about. I don't know which one we can start. I mean, it starts Darnell Nurse early in the hockey game. That becomes a big one because already thin on defense. They move any day or Ney back in. Cody C.C. sits. three shifts after the hit by Rodriguez on Darnell Nurse, he is not right. And who's to say, you're going to get nothing at this point.

But just so much at stake for the Oilers in a game, too. You go down 02. We know what the math is, about 85% chance that you're losing that thing. He just, he could not go. An already thin blue line for the Oilers becomes, I mean, it's perilously thin now. becomes thinner. It's funny because I've said other people, especially my

oiler fan buddies, saying, you know, last week they wanted nurse to be a healthy scratch anyways. You know, they wanted this guy out. Careful what you wish for, yeah. I said, careful what you wish for. Now, that being said, you still want six bodies in there because

that forced Bouchard to play 31 minutes last night. And that was too, it's obviously too much for anybody. But, you know, And at home is a big body. When you're 6'5 and carry weight, like at home, like that wears down in you. I thought Florida did a good job of chipping away at their deed. I thought Darren and Brobert didn't look out of place.

If anything, it's just you've got five guys. You end up wearing them down. I thought there were some critical mistakes. I'm not circling. It's funny. I'm maybe in the minority of this. If you go back and look at the, so Rodriguez's goal, we'll call it. that's a game winning goal, right?

So the second one, where Bouchard puts it on his stick, right? Yeah, his first goal, yeah. Yeah, his first goal. That's Ryan McLeod. He doesn't lose. First of all, he's got it on the wall on the other side. And he makes a soft play because he doesn't want to get hit. He spins, he chips it up the wall and spins out of the way because he doesn't want to get hit.

So they keep it in. It ends up going around. Then the puck goes back to Bouchard. Bouchard, yes, tries to outlet. pass to Brown. It gets picked off. McLeod jumps in the lane, but it hits the backside of him and goes short side. So yes, he's skinner too. He's not like, oh, I'm supposed to see it. So we're watching it right now. There's the turnover up the wall. Okay, McLeod, get in the lane and block it or get the hell out of the way. That's basically that's what I would say as a goaltender.

But if you go, I don't know if we can go back farther in that play. That play doesn't happen. that turnover doesn't happen on that side of the ice if mcclough doesn't get that puck out yeah to me these are tiny tiny details but they're critical errors where right now florida doesn't seem to be making errors and if they are here's here's the you know doesn't want to get hit by rodriguez so chips it up the wall to nobody and then now you're on the run he's in position and it as a centerman to support the play block it and i know it's a tick-tack play tick-tack toe play but block it or or get the hell out of the way. And he doesn't do either or,

and it goes off his backside. But that play is avoidable on the other side on the wall. So people can go, yeah, Bouchard, turn that puck over. He absolutely did. That's a turnover by the defenseman. But the forward, you take a hit and make the play there in the Stanley Cup finals. They're out. They're exited.

They might get a change. They might get an offensive play going that way. So I had a problem with that play. I'll be honest, because I think there, was a few times during the game where I circle McLeod going, that guy you need more from. He's a young kid. He's a good player, 20 plus goal score. But if they had the depth, he might be a guy.

I'd circle to say, you know, might watch from the stands one more night here. We wondered after game one because the Oilers were very strong. Their performance in a loss was very good. So what is it going to? Florida is going to have to be a lot better or Ken Edmonton, are they going to be able to keep that up? Last night was a completely different story. It was all Florida.

Three oil or forwards had shots on net. There was high, whatever you, five and five scoring chances was like one. The goal that went in was kind of a kind of a flub that fooled Bobrovsky. It was a real elevation for the Florida Panthers. And I don't think it was anything fancy. Do you know what I mean? That's their bread and butter.

We're just going to, we're going to roll four lines. We're going to finish our checks. We're going to get some saves. And it would, the Oilers felt pretty good after the loss in game one. I don't think they can be trotting out the, you know, the sun will rise tomorrow. The rose picture now. First of all, you're right. Like they played well in game one.

This isn't the Moral Victory League. No. You know, it's result based. Robowski stole a game. Okay. So that's all. He stole the game. Florida's still up.

You knew. Florida was going to play better. The two things I noticed that Florida did a lot better is all of their play. I thought Ekblad struggled in game one. I thought he was awesome yesterday. Awesome. Good stick. Yes, the chokehold will talk about whatever. I don't care. I, but more about, I just thought there was going to be a response from their top players. And they did. Like they were a lot better and their adjustments. Edmonton used their speed through the neutral zone game one and Florida didn't have an answer for it. Immediately they adjusted their neutral zone.

Evanton couldn't get any speed going last night. Every time they tried to make a stretch play through the neutral zone, gone. D stepped up. So they were playing the one one three in the first. I think they almost went to like a one three one. It wasn't, but you could see them step up with support in the neutral zone. I thought Florida's adjustments were great and I thought their top players played to. their capabilities. Keep in mind, we haven't seen Reinhart,

Barkoff, Kachuk, score goals yet, right? Probably well. Exactly. That's my point. So there's still another level. McDavid said after the game, and I like what McDavid had to say, we said, our backs have been up against the wall, and I didn't think we had another level tonight, which we do have another level. So they knew that they, they didn't, I didn't think they played well. I just, I thought McDavid had a few pace plays, but their power play was. supposed to be a killer, you're 0 for 4 and 0 for 3 in game 1.

That's supposed to be a difference maker. If Florida was going to be, hey, we're going to take penalties and have a march to the penalty box, power play is going to kill you. That wasn't been the case. Too fancy, too many soft plays, too many extra passes. And listen, Noblock said the right things afterward as well. He said our power play, I'm not worried about it. We hit three posts.

Yeah, I'm kind of on that page. Like, I don't see something that's not gaining the zone and Z. dipping it around. They've got some bad puck luck right. You're right. But the thing is, it's not like you have two weeks to sort that out and go, hey, we're going to have a bad five game stretch. And you know what? And then we'll go 75% in the next five games. It's not there for you. Yeah. The air's coming out of the balloon. You got to get it going. Like next game Thursday is a must win because your three Cobb is, yeah, that's a nail in the coffin. what losers say when they lose the first two games basically yeah you don't hear the team that's up up to oh saying that do they but the bottom line is is they have an opportunity to change the look of this series by winning on home ice on Thursday but that's that's the only thing i would say from a positive standpoint from a negative stamp i've said this before and i might have said this to you guys last week i could see a pathway for emminton to win three games. But I don't know if that's the case, if they will or not. And I don't know if the pathway is there for a fourth.

But the three games is the goalie has to steal one. So Skinner hasn't done that yet. But Brovowski has. So Brobrovsky has. So Brovsky has one. Skinner hasn't. They need one from Skinner. McDavid and or Drysaddle just goes, not on our watch tonight.

We're winning the game. And then the third one is the power play. is the power play's got to be a different rate. I wouldn't even call it special teams. Now, special teams 34 for 35. It's pretty damn impressive. But the power play hasn't pulled its weight. So that's the pathway for three potential win games for or won games for the

Like, I can make a pathway for Florida on the. the other side too. So I thought last night was a must win. outside of matthews i guess but we're i i think it's carolina if i'm the goalie just based on the structure of the team um i think it's a moot point if if the goalie goes i only want to go to that team you know like that's really what it is it comes back to it we can sit and speculate all you want jacob marksstrom like mitch marner controls their destiny They either want to stay, they want to go, and they choose the team that they want to go to, and the team has to eat it. And what you've got to do is work with the player, work with their management, and go, if the player wants to move on, okay, let's figure out the best package deal to get them to that destination. That's what, unfortunately, you get when you hand out a no move clause is at some point they pull the contract out of the drawer and go, you know, we want to, we got to deal with this, but here's the parameters of it. So, you know, L.A. is a good team.

You know, all the teams that you mentioned, I think Ottawa's up and coming. I think Toronto still has, you know, lots of work to be done, but they've got a really good team there in the regular season, and maybe the goalie puts you over the top. I would argue that Trey's probably going to be really active in the offseason. Yep.

You know, I'd be shocked if Trey hasn't called Connie, just to check in. I mean, they're close anyways, so. But, yeah, you're asking me. I think Carolina makes the most sense just based on the team. but it might not be the destination him and his wife and kid want to end up in and new jersey maybe a little bit better because it's closer to new york i don't know toronto but i don't think carolina wants them boys they got kachkov who's young and they love and they got one more year

freddy anderson locked in like they're going to have to move a lot of shit around to make them and they've never wanted to pay or pay the acquisition cost to get good goaltending they go get guys in free agencies they draft and develop they find guys off the scrap heap i don't think eric tulski is the GM is going to pay the top offer to get Jacob Markstrom. That's a good point. I just, I think they might, my trust level with Anderson's health is concerning. And then Kachatkoff is, I think he's, I don't know if he's a one. I think he's more, he reminds me a little bit more Danny Vladar type of scenario. Like he might be a good kind a tandem guy.

Kachekhov really has good feed. He's got some good skills. I just don't know if he's a one. And the jury's out. So if Tulski is going to go on the numbers, okay, go ahead. But I just, you got a good tandem there in Anderson and Kachetkoff,

but I would argue, do you sleep at night? And what I mean by that is, is that goaltender going to be available to you when you need him? And that's, you know, Freddie has has a habit of unfortunately not being available to them when they need him because of his health. So you either either move past him or find a spot for him. There's musical chairs.

It's going to be an interesting, I mean, it sounds cliche, interesting, but just the injuries, nurse, dry sidle, bark of the Edmonton crowd, first cup final game in forever. The building's going to be electric, electric,

without even knowing, as we're days away from it, it feels like that's got the markings of an oiler win, a bit of a bounce back, because they haven't been terrible. But like you said, it's some puck lock. They hit some posts. Game one, they probably deserve to win if they don't get goalied. But man, your sphincter's tight because 02 is bad enough. 03, you just turn the lights out.

So can they handle, can they take the excitement of the crowd and all of that and spin it into the positive that they need it to be? Because if it's, if it's the moment's too big or if Florida isn't rattled by it, then series is basically over. Yeah. And they look good when they got down three, two to Vancouver. It looked dire at that point. They're down two nothing in game four against Dallas and it was two one in the series.

That didn't look good. It looked like they were overmatch at that point in some ways. They played their best when they've needed to. The top of the list is Thursday night. You've got to win four or five and if you don't win Thursday, you got to win four in a row. I don't see anyone doing that against the Panthers. And they've been banging that drum already. Even last night at the start of the season, you counted us out and then a month in, you

counted us out and against the fair enough. Yeah, they've shown some resiliency. Yeah. But this, this feels like a different, this is a different fall. Florida flexed last night. We talked about before the series. Do you put more stock in it now or does it make just as much sense as it did then? That like Florida's been here, this is unfinished business.

And they've just, you know, you could chuck post game as saying, fellas, we were down to O last year. Remember that mentality? They're like, there's just, you can't replicate having been there before. And sure, two of your guys have or three, I guess, Henrique a decade ago. But I mean, Florida, the whole thing feels like home ice to them because they've, they've been in this. They've done this schedule. They've, they've understood what their opponents going through that they don't see coming.

There's no way to know, right? Yeah. But through, does it get that vibe to you? Through six periods, it sure does. Yeah. Through six periods, it looks like Florida's a very even, even keeled. Not that the Oilers aren't. I don't think they've looked rattled.

They just looked out matched at times. Certainly last night they were outmatched. They looked fine in game one. Who knows? Man, what if, what if this thing goes to, too, too? It's not the craziest thing. No, it's not. Yeah, and we saw Dallas come out of a two-ohull already this postseason.

They did that to Vegas in round one. And, you know, can the Oilers win two in a row at home? Absolutely, they can. And now we're talking about a best of three. Why not? You know, your odds of winning that aren't 9% if you get this back to 2-2. You'd argue you're 50-50 or better because you've got the momentum. Yeah.

I mean, Fun series. I don't know if anyone's rooting for that to happen, but an oil or win in game three would, would be a fun shift for the series. If you're a, like we are, neutral observers.

We're not really rooting one way or the other. Yeah, like you and Jack. And they're going to break out the lucky, the two lucky charms in Edmonton for sure. She'll be back in the building. Both of them. Any sort of sway.
