Starting point is 00:00:00 All righty. Let's get into another, another big week of Barnburner, another, another, Mahusive. Yeah, another Mahus of week here in the world of Barnburner. Welcome to it. This is a presentation of Bet365. You must be 19 or older. You know, please play responsibly. Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365.
Starting point is 00:00:24 And, uh, Yeah, we got the Super Bowl. Super chat. Proceeds from the super chat go directly to the youth centers of Calgary. What is it? What is it? If you're in the YouTube, the chat that takes place, the comments during the course of the show, if you put some money down, we will take that money and get it across to the youth centers. And then we'll show you a thing on the show. Your comment, your, uh, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, tisk, tisk, some hot taketitude. we're going to have to probably put a tamper down on the trades are all done boys like sorry we you could give us your crazy trades but nothing's happening until yeah i mean summer right if uh feel like you got to really want it if it's good we can put it in the the drawer and pull it out
Starting point is 00:01:17 later you yeah yeah yeah at that point we'll get to it over to connie yeah yeah yeah yeah so uh snow eh that was weird woke up to that yeah yeah I think it'll go away, though. It'll probably melt, I think. Did anyone have the worst sleep ever? Stupid time change. Oh, best slept ever. Best slept ever.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Best slept ever. Yep. Really smart. Didn't kill any brain cells this weekend. That's great to report. Really? No, probably a lot. Okay, good. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Yeah, good stuff. Good stuff. Now, I didn't bring it up in the text that I received, but some bad news on the city championship front. Pinder, is that, uh, cooked. Lost to, uh, in a shootout, which is always heartbreaking fashion, Rhett. Just like, Noggino all. Hey, I was there.
Starting point is 00:02:08 I did the same thing. Should have been there, Rhett. They should have let Wayne shoot. They shouldn't have put in bork. Stupid Mark Crawford. No, I meant my kids suffered a shootout loss as well and are eliminated for. I heard it was at the hands of Glen Lake. It was.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Back to back, Glenn Lake. Oh, played the first team significantly. Had a hell of a battle in a second. Just couldn't. Reffing God. at the end and those sheisters from Glenn Lake Dees, those sheisters the people running the
Starting point is 00:02:35 clock, oh my God, just atrocious. Trojan! I'm sending in an email. Just four, five, six to ten seconds, every whistle just disappearing. Yeah, we pay the refs because obviously it's Glenn like, and then also what we do is we have in our home ranks, time clocks where we can go
Starting point is 00:02:54 fast speed or slow speed. It's just a setting there. Or just go shut it off. We've got the whole back in the computers. I think I've told you guys this story. There was, my buddy beef. Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:06 My buddy beef stories. He, and it wasn't necessary, he had the summer in hockey leagues. If it was a wreck hockey in Brandon, it was his, he owns both of them. And it wasn't that he was cheering one way or the other.
Starting point is 00:03:21 He just wanted to get out of the rink. Right. So in the early days when he was kind of doing it all by himself, so he'd be running the clock and everything, he'd be, oh, I just want to get out of here. So he's, had it on that particular clock when the clock was stopped you could press a button and it would just take a minute off of the clock so what he would do is as the clock was ticking down like three to two to and as it got to about just about zero he'd press stop hit the minute and then start it again so you'd lose a minute but unless you were really paying attention so it went from like 13 302 301 30 59 50
Starting point is 00:04:01 I feel like we lost a couple minutes there I thought it was just well I don't know there was no whistle or anything so I can't figure out what would have happened he had it down to a science yeah I think I probably shaved about seven minutes off of that game tonight it's reservation I don't relate I had to get some I had some wheel waiting for me at the at the Boston pizza I had to get out of there to hurry so I'm not sure maybe that happens
Starting point is 00:04:24 is that what happened to you're at the was somebody doing some time shaving I wouldn't put it past them I would put it past. We're not allowed to talk about our state secrets, we can't tell you old jet in this public forum. We've signed NDAs and everything. My buddy beef, just because it's kind of been brought up,
Starting point is 00:04:42 it's a story about like, oh, you could tell that story, Dino, if you want it to. I'm not sure if anybody, but he's involved in hockey, you know beef.
Starting point is 00:04:51 You put on those fighting tournaments, didn't he? Well, one of them, yeah, the first and only. But he's also involved in hockey. He's working with an agent.
Starting point is 00:04:59 And so he's over in in Europe somewhere. And because of he's having to fly, but here he had to take a, like he couldn't fly there. So we had to take a bus or something. Anyway, he's, he gets to Belarus. And they're bringing and they're looking at his passport. He's traveling all over the world. This is very, hmm. So what do you do?
Starting point is 00:05:21 Well, I'm involved in hockey and this and that. Hmm. Come over here. So they sit them down. And so you're, you're involved in hockey. yes so you must know our yigore so they're testing them right you look our yigore it's kind of like warner right like he knows but he does i don't know i don't know i don't know uh are yigore he plays in calgary i i don't know who you're talking about
Starting point is 00:05:50 i'm not sure like i'm involved it's kind of like kid hockey i don't so you mean to tell me you travel the globe for hockey and you don't know i don't know i'm involved you're Our Yegor. Lego Man. Three flames. I don't fuck her. I, I don't know. He was in fucking trouble.
Starting point is 00:06:08 It's like, we think this guy's full of shit. He doesn't know who our Yegor is. Full body. He plays in the NHL with the Calgary Flames. They also are, uh, Ilia, Slovia. I think we have two Belarusians. Maybe. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Very excited. Very excited. Thanks a bit. Know this. He's their Igor in Belarus. Of course. He's their boy. That's how big he is over there.
Starting point is 00:06:30 And he's our beef. There, Igor, our beef. Let's get into it for McLeod Law. Some opening statements. Now that we've kind of got through the important stuff, I guess we can talk about the flames. Whatever goes on in life, sometimes you need a little legal assistance. Maybe to get out of a jam or maybe just to get through.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Sometimes you just need a lawyer. Either way, McLeod Law. Calgarians helping Calgarians. They're proud of those Calgary roots. And hop and be the. very best at what it is that they do. Whatever it is you need, stay local and stay with the best. MacLeoddashlaw.com. A nail biter going back to Saturday night. Damn boy. Yeah. Wolfie. He's good, eh?
Starting point is 00:07:15 So you're telling me your coast to coast in the prime slot on hockey night in Canada and you're going to score one goal and you're going to be celebrating at the end? Yeah, the one goal. I believe the first part. Yeah. Not a stunner. All. So fresh off a, what, 10-day, six-game. Oh, yeah, longest road trip of the year. All over the continent travel schedule. First game back. Always the worst. They showed better in Dallas than we thought.
Starting point is 00:07:44 I think they showed better on Saturday than we thought. My general take on those last two games are, those are games that high-end teams win, not mid-lil. You know what I mean? Like it actually, those games are excuses for subparate teams to just, yep, didn't have it,
Starting point is 00:08:07 hard travel. I don't know. I think it speaks volumes about what these guys are all about actually. To be fair, it's the type of games of Vancouver's losing. We just saw them drop in regulation to Dallas last night. Yeah, and I'm not even talking about how the tightness of the one nothing or the two.
Starting point is 00:08:23 I'm just talking about the effort that they put forth in games that should, you've got your reason. in to be exhausted and and and and not have a hundred percent and I feel like they're going. I don't go going for it. But you know what they, you know what it is to me? Because I was thinking of the same thing. It's like credit to the, again, the coaches.
Starting point is 00:08:43 We've said this throughout the year. And it was about maybe seven or eight days ago. We were calling them or one of us as soft as puppy poo. But that performance in pretty, but for the most part, there's some character there, whether it's leadership that's towing a lot. The coaches have them working. We've kind of been respectful of their work ethic throughout the entire, the entire season.
Starting point is 00:09:06 But there has to also be a belief that we're getting in this thing. There's no throwaway games. We can't afford to just toss two out and then all we'll be ready for Wednesday or Thursday. We're not going to win this one. I've been, to your point, and I agree, I've been very impressed with what they've brought to the table, the last two games specifically, because there was no way. and they didn't, but there was no way they were beating Dallas,
Starting point is 00:09:30 and that first game home is always a stinker. Against a team that's playing well. Even you just put in that road trip, you played five contenders. You came back with six out of 12 points, which is for the toughest road trip of the year, for your longest road trip of the year, for five contenders, very admirable.
Starting point is 00:09:47 And then you tack on the Montreal game, and now you look ahead, and it's like, well, Vancouver is a huge game. And then you've got the abs. It was like, they feel to me like their incumbents right now. Someone's going to have to be much better than they've been or they're going to have to stumble to knock it in. I know it's only one point, but they just seem to be,
Starting point is 00:10:07 I'd rather bet on this group than the Canucks post chaos, if you know what I mean. It does seem like a more organized group of players. Yes. And that's not a shot at talk at her. I think the turmoil that's going on in Vancouver, their expectations were way higher. They haven't been met.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Their top players out. And they've had to trade guys. There's been infighting. If you want to call it that, whatever you want to describe it as, they're still a hot mess, in my opinion. And the guy that's supposed to be leading them offensively, I guess Hughes is maybe, but he's out.
Starting point is 00:10:42 The other guy that they're paying big bucks is not contributing a lick. And their number one quarter, goaltenders hurt. That's right. Lankin has been a lovely story. Healthy Demco changes everything there and they've hardly had it this year. I mean, what did you miss? The first three months came back for a month, got hurt again, like, poof, gone.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Yeah, it's the same as where probably, and all due respect to Lidar, but without Wolf, how many points has Wolf gotten this year? There's no way to tell, but I'm going to say it's more than what you can count on maybe one hand. Like it's, oh, yeah. Yeah, I mean, you put Saturday already at the top of the list. That's his third shutout. Yeah. He scored one goal in one.
Starting point is 00:11:21 he's one with two goals run support a fair amount. Like they don't get the four. We've seen this thing. I was just thinking this morning as I was grabbing a coffee. It'd be nice, you know, because every day we come on here and we've got hot takes and predictions and stuff, you'd love to have a time machine and go forward about 10 years. 10 years.
Starting point is 00:11:40 It's like, so Dustin Wolf looks really good. But what are we watching? You know, because then you'd want to get in the time machine and go back to right now and enjoy the early stage. of what could be one of the finest goaltending careers of our, you know, of our generation of this team's life cycle,
Starting point is 00:12:01 the whole thing, because it just feels like that's what we're watching. He's, he's calm, he's poised. BXA was talking about, he's got a, it's not arrogance,
Starting point is 00:12:11 but it's a swagger. Yeah, of course, I'll see a Saturday. I'll be playing Saturday. That's, yeah, Saturday night,
Starting point is 00:12:15 I'll be it. There's just something about what he's doing right now that, and this is a broken record, but it just feels like this. This isn't this year. This isn't this month. This is the start of something pretty special, I think, that we're seeing here. Yeah, and it's unsurprising in some senses, because every league he's gone to he's been too good for.
Starting point is 00:12:35 You won goalie of the year, two years in a row in the Western League, graduated, one, the H.L goal of the year is a rookie, which is pretty rare air. And then when the best goalie and league MVP is second year, he's dominated every level. And there's certainly been doubts about his height at every level. and he's beating them at every level. And now you're seeing him do what he did in other leagues in the NHL. And we talked about it. At this point, it's your top priority of the summer
Starting point is 00:13:02 is to flop a huge amount of money in front of him and get his name on an eight-year extension so that you know you have him for the next nine years because he's your best player. And you can build around this. There's an identity of this club. It's net mining and hard work right now. Takes you back, Richel,
Starting point is 00:13:19 to a time when you'd watch Flames players. after a flurry where they can't get the puck out and then finally the goalie freezes it for a whistle and the guy's kind of a tap on the pads thanks he's going to make people a lot of money i was gas i was at a gas for about 90 seconds there i thanks pal you said you saved my bacon there which again is that bigger conversation what are they what can they be what do they need to be it's the whole my opinion on their team yeah my opinion on the team hasn't changed i still think that their ability to elevate and score enough goals is
Starting point is 00:13:55 going to be very limiting in what they can accomplish in the long run. Yeah. But I think the one thing that would probably swayed us on is they've been more consistent and structured and hardworking than I think we could have thought that was sustained over the full year. When it was a five
Starting point is 00:14:13 game winning street to start the year, like this is great. You even won in Edmonton. No matter what happens, when things come back to Earth, you know, there was a great run. to start. But they just don't have nights where they don't show up very often at all. And we've seen teams with better coaches and much more talent have a really big problem with consistency and showing up every night. Give Ryan Huska a ton of credit. Give the leadership group a ton of credit. They don't show up and lay eggs here. They don't. Man, and they,
Starting point is 00:14:42 now you get, Farabee scores again. Looks like he's starting to come around. He's that, it like has looked good and is scoring. Mm-hmm. That line's come to life. And they still scored one goal because you think, okay, well, if you could, this team would be real dangerous if they could just score a little bit more, a lot more, a lot of teams are going to be really good. But if they could just, what's realistic with this group? I don't know. We talked with Sharon Govich last week. It's just, and it's not just for this year in the playoffs, but how do you get a little more
Starting point is 00:15:15 offense? How do you get a little better in the back end? How do you get a little more offense if your special teams? you're probably, because we've talked, you're probably not going to get a superstar. You're not going to get a first overall pick. But you got to try and be, you got to try and improve all the time.
Starting point is 00:15:31 And it's going to have to be, that's how it's going to have to be for this team, I think. I don't think they're going to have one of these guys emerge as a top five guy in the league. And I don't think they're going to get a top draft pick, which will land the one either. You got to call Kevin Adams every day. Make sure he throws in that second rounder with Dylan Cousins.
Starting point is 00:15:49 just keep calling Kevin Adams every GD day. He's our boy. Does I make any more sense? Today, did we make sense of that over the weekend? No, eh? Okay. And so they had the lines that skate today, and they got Josh Norris center in the top line with Peturka and Tage Thompson.
Starting point is 00:16:03 And someone was noting like, Norris is a shooter. Tage Thompson's a shooter. Is there someone that could distribute? Like, it's all, they haven't even played together. And you're already seeing the, I don't know if it's going to fit. What are we doing here? Oh, well. Fun.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Buffalo. Buffalo good. Buffalo. Yeah. It might be Connie's good kind of blessing. Like we're talking about, you were just saying, and we've said, great if they could go out of 80 point guy or top end guy.
Starting point is 00:16:32 It doesn't look like it's possible. I don't think it's on the list. I don't think the city and the organization's on the list of, if rent and went to free agency. Marner this summer, for example. Right? Yeah, yeah. Like you're not going,
Starting point is 00:16:46 but it might be to his blessing where he actually has to look at the team me take a slow play with it and go, well, we can add a defenseman or two. Maybe Perrette comes up and he adds some points from the back end. We're going to see some Perak next year. But we're not going to change our, we can't change our identity because we don't have the firepower to do it. It might be a completely different, you know what I mean? It sounds good to go get the scoring. And I, yes, if you can, great.
Starting point is 00:17:09 But it might be almost to his. I'm sure you'll want to go and add. I just don't know if you'll be able to. And it might work out better for him because he can't. Yeah, I don't think this is going to be a team that all of a sudden is going to be a top 10 in league scoring. Like it's going to be a team that identifies with structure, defense, hard work, goaltending. They're going to try to add goals. But I still think it's going to kind of look like the devils or the Islanders or the Minnesota Wild.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Like it's not going to be the sexiest. It's not Colorado, Edmonton, that sort of fire wagon hockey. But it doesn't mean you can't win around this. They just need some better players. Like you still got Joel Hanley, God bless him in your top four. And you don't have a single guy that you can put down for 30 goals. you know, there's not a lot of high-end skill. So they'll probably try to add.
Starting point is 00:17:54 But I always think back to the, what was always the complaint when Jerome was here? It's like, man, we just never got him a number one center. You know, Connie, boy, if he was your two-see, you'd be really good. You know, that year he scored 52 goals in one of the lowest scoring years in HL history. You know, it was Dean McCamond on his other wing. Like, man, what if you just, and then you're like, oh, my God, they went and got Oli Yokin and this is going to be great.
Starting point is 00:18:15 It didn't work. And it didn't fit. And he wasn't the type of player for whatever. reason. So I think they're absolutely going to try to add, but it's going to be an evolution of their identity right now, which if you can't come with the hard hat and the lunch pail and the work boots, you're probably not going to fit. I was going to say, because Washington zipped past the Jets for top spot, they have Ovechkin, who is a superstar, make no mistake. But out of that, and we've seen it, that's just a steady workman.
Starting point is 00:18:49 like team that comes at you. They're at good speed, some guys that can score, you know, McMichael wasn't a top five pick. But like there's some skill there. But that just feels like how it's going to be. You're going to have to identify the type of player that fits within your coach's system because the coach is a good coach. And you always have to kind of let the coach AGM this. What do you see? Does this feel like your kind of guy? And Ferby's starting to look like that, right? Yeah. I thought he was lost at sea for a while there, but the last week, the last three games, since Philly, he's been really... Since he took
Starting point is 00:19:23 the shot off the hand. You thought he was going to be gone for six to eight weeks? He had the breakaway later that game. He's had a bunch of chances. Now he's scored a couple of times. No, he's looked a lot better. Yeah, it's so, you know... By the way, your boy, Beef, would he know the, there, Alexi?
Starting point is 00:19:40 I'm not sure. This is another Bell Russian. I'm not sure. Speaking of the caps. Yeah. You don't know are you. come into this room. More kids. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:54 Yeah. More kids. Uh, we'll get into some other, uh, there's a crazy weekend. She was a crazy weekend. What'd you get up to, you know? Still alive and ring us? Oh yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Little, uh, it was very flamesy. Zero, zero to overtime, then to a shootout. Yeah. Yeah. Found away. Found away. Staying alive. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:16 It's weird because you've got provincials and you've got city. kind of all going through your head at the same time. So what's the difference that, I don't know, just have something to eat so we can get to the rink in time. Service Credit Union, the Big Share Contest is back. It's in full swing. It's your chance to win a million dollars just by saving money. Anybody can enter to win?
Starting point is 00:20:36 All you got to do is become a member of Savers. Every $500 save gives you five entries into the Big Share contest. This contest, it ends. April 30th, 2025, skill test required for rules. Visit service.com. slash win. Get that paycheck automatically deposited into your service account.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Bonus entries. RSP's bonus entries. TFSAsA's bonus entries. You go to the website, you talk to the people, the good folks at Service Credit Union, and they will show you just how easy it is to get those entries.
Starting point is 00:21:03 And who knows? Maybe you could be a million dollars richer. The service, big share contest, service.com. Slash win. Slash. Yeah, talking about the caps. Ovi gets his 65th,
Starting point is 00:21:18 empty netter. Oh, don't start with me on that. Nine goals away. Oh, hey, listen, I told you that was my bontan beef a couple weeks ago. I got no problem with it. Is it Ovi's fault that the other team takes the goalie out? Not really, no. It's not his fault.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Is it always fault that they're winning? Kind of like he's a part of it. You're taking their frigging golio. I'm a goal score. I'm going to, I can score when the goal he's in. I can score when he's not in. That's not. So, yeah, I,
Starting point is 00:21:46 that's my beef. Just lay off already. Either way, 1,600 points, nine goals away from passing Wayne. He's on pace to do it by April the 10th, April 10, 12, somewhere in there. Which is right around the last week of the year.
Starting point is 00:22:03 In fact, it's in there. So we'll see. He has to keep going at about a half goal a game. But to this point, he's done it. It's wild. Tell Gary and Wayne to gas up the jet. Wayne's probably like, let's get this over with, right? Like let's...
Starting point is 00:22:17 Well, you just wait Because when he gets within five, Wayne's on the PJ with Gary. Not. I'm sure that's a raucous bumping lots of tunes on the jet. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that would be a lot.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Like, he could get him at five for weeks here, fellas. Gary be wearing his hat backwards. He'd have like white rimmed shades. We have a cool guy to announce. Can I have the ox? What? What are you talking about? So yeah, that's where the, I mean, the caps take over top spot, 92 points in 64 games.
Starting point is 00:22:54 OV's rolling caps feel good about life. Are we buying their stock? Do you think they can come out of the metro or are we saying there's first time got to prove it? It's kind of a new core. It's not like the group don't want to cup with OV. I don't want to be ignorant, but OVie's going to be way less effect. Are the whistles going away? Come playoffs a little bit.
Starting point is 00:23:16 And is that good for Tom Wilson's caps or not good for all the young guys in their first series? I don't know. Does he be able to contribute it? They're not going to play them the way they did in Calgary. Right? He's not going to get three-minute shifts. I guess the other part is too. What is a cup or bust when you, if let's say they've finished first?
Starting point is 00:23:36 I don't know what's. I just look at that division. New Jersey's limping. The Rangers have an awful year might not get in. Carolina got rantin and has now turned him into a few. plus stankova not necessarily a superstar today it's kind of theirs to win unless you stub your toe and we do see teams that jump up in the standings and it's like wow they're really good that's your first year you've figured out the regular season you haven't figured out the tournament yet is sort of what we often see for these but it hasn't been that long how many guys on that team were part of Carlson and Wilson and OV would be the first guys I think of. It's not sure Fairbury was there.
Starting point is 00:24:22 He might have been. Yeah. Wasn't that long ago? Well, but it kind of was, wasn't it? I mean, it was the first year of the Vegas Golden Knights, so that's seven years ago, eight years ago. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:34 Yeah. I guess it depends on what your term is long and short, but I don't know. I just mean when you look at the Washington team, like T.J. O's gone, Baxter's gone. Oh, I think there's a lot. Yeah, I'm not debating the changes. I'm just. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:47 So it'll be the first time. for the protist, McMichaels, all those, you know, chichron. Yeah, it feels like one of those things. Well, it's going to take some time. Great regular season. Right. But I don't know. It's kind of wide open that division.
Starting point is 00:25:01 The blue jackets move into the first wild card in the east. A hat trick for Adam Fantilli last night. Two in 26 seconds. Yeah. Yeah. They are those limping devils that you talk about. The blue jackets are four points back with two games in hand. It's wild, man.
Starting point is 00:25:19 Look at those two spots and how many teams are like, we just need a good week. What were you saying, Red? They're neck and neck team. She's neck and neck, red. And there's, I mean,
Starting point is 00:25:32 look at, there's some games left, eh? The Rangé hanging around. Games played, not in their favor, but they're there. Wings have lost five straight.
Starting point is 00:25:40 Oh. So after that incredible start and all of that, they, it's going to happen. I would like also to draw Flames fans, attention to the New Jersey Devils who are without many, many of their best players right now and suddenly five points from the playoff cut off line.
Starting point is 00:25:58 65 games played as well. So just so people know what you're saying. Togby Flames hold the New Jersey Devils first round draft pick for the Jacob Markstrom deal. And so they're invested in where the devils are in the standings. It would be quite a storyline if the devil's pick somehow ended up being a better pick than the Flames one anyway. after all the hand wringing over giving your pick to Montreal for the Sean Monaghan deal. Is that what we need as well here down the stretch? We need to be anybody but the devils.
Starting point is 00:26:30 We need to be eye monitoring the devil's out-of-town scoreboard. I'm paying attention. All right. We'll get to you in the Pinda report. If they can get out of the playoff spot, we will turn those standings upside down for you. Oh, that'd be great. Yeah. Is it top 10 protected, though?
Starting point is 00:26:48 I'll check. I'm not worried about them getting in the top 10, but even just to get into the teams of the big win for Jack and his penguins. They beat the Minnesota Wild 3 to 1. Mark Under Flurry? Yeah, beat Flurry. Did you celebrate last night, Jack? I know you love your penguins.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Didn't even know they played. All right. Mark Andre Fleury, start 1,015 passing Bobby Lou for second all time. Wow. Decent. Marty, you guy, clear? Marty Bruder 1251. So another 240 games.
Starting point is 00:27:27 This is the victory lap season. I mean, it's crazy. Holy. Hey? It's a lot of hockey. It's a lot of hockey. Cros, his 17th, 20 goal season. Now, how about this one?
Starting point is 00:27:41 If he can finish the season at a point per game or better, he will pass Wayne for his 20th career point per game season and tops in league history. Wow. That's impressive. Isn't that 20th point per game? Yeah. Come on, Sid, Kraz, as I called you. Everything but his rookie year, I'm guessing. Yeah, that's a lot of points. Boy, it's a lot of points, boy. It's a lot of points, boy. Dallas beat Vancouver. You mentioned Vancouver, not not loving life particularly. I think they had won two in a row before this loss, but Rantanin' now for the Dallas. of stars, two goals and an assist.
Starting point is 00:28:21 Also, they even got a goal from sugar on the back end. The Canucks did, yeah. Sugar. When I read this morning, it's like that was his first goal since, I mean, you can imagine. First is a Canuck. A port license plates now available in the gift shop. Yeah, first, uh, first goal in more than two seasons. Goosh.
Starting point is 00:28:45 No judging. Lankinen made 15 saves. So then, I mean. Doesn't sound like the stars around them out of the building necessarily, but how do you feel if you're the Winnipeg Jets and you start looking at what's been done in your division? Dallas brings in Rantan, Colorado, you know, what do you got coming in there? You got Lindgren, you got coil and I would say that a lot of those guys in Winnipeg have been there and they've had to build that team and they've had, they've had seasons where they've brought people in
Starting point is 00:29:17 and it hasn't worked out. So I think you're just saying, I don't give a shit. Whatever. When that division in the regular season, you know up to see one of those teams until round two. Let them beat the piss out of each other. Because that would still be a... I think you know if you're in Winnipeg,
Starting point is 00:29:33 that's not what you're getting. Are those types of players coming in? Yeah, like, that's not... You weren't in the Ransson and sweepstakes? Yeah, safe to say. We're not, we don't do it that way. Shevel day off. Just avoid them in round one.
Starting point is 00:29:47 Like, we are going to get Dallas, Colorado, an incredibly high likelihood that that happens around one. interesting hearing maybe some of the other teams that were in on Rantanin down the stretch. Trana. Trana. Ryan Rishog saying that the Oilers were in there as well. Mitch Marner part of that deal, reportedly. Yep.
Starting point is 00:30:08 It would not move his no trade. That's an interesting one, eh? That makes sense. They made it nice in public. Yeah. But especially where for Marner, if there's a guy that you could understand wanting a change of scenery and wanting to get out of there for the shit and abuse he's taken from the media and fans over the years you think i i i like it here but i'm i'm tired to be in the whipping boy every
Starting point is 00:30:31 single year regardless of what happens but he has been steadfast in his desire to stay there doubled down on it on the weekend i love i love being here i want to be here no interest i don't think you're wrong in saying that he could be that but i don't think he gives a shit which is good and bad right like i I don't mean he doesn't care about winning or the team. I think he doesn't care what the public persona or the media say, which is exactly what you should do. I don't.
Starting point is 00:31:01 Especially. Yeah. Your opinion to me is irrelevant. I'm trying. I have go over my seasons. You can be mad that I missed a coverage or that the team hasn't had been success. But if you try and hang it all on my head, no, no, no. I'm not listening to that BS.
Starting point is 00:31:18 From there, he likes it there. He wants to be there. And I thought this season would be going to be a circus. surrounding him and his pending UFA status, but it's been almost dead silent. That was the only leak we've heard all year was that there was a conversation between Trilliving and Marner's camp saying, hey, we have an opportunity to add Rantanin. Is this something you'd be interesting to him going to Carolina? The answer's no, it's like, all right, love to have you.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Let's go get it. And I think you had a great game on Saturday that followed. So it seems like a non-issue. It's been really quiet. Yeah. And they were going to give the dough to Rantan, had the two first rounders, had the two young players couldn't get the play you wonder if if he says he'd wave if that's not the deal maybe the Dallas or that Carolina ends up taking over the Dallas deal I don't know because there's
Starting point is 00:32:04 no active players right at least ain't very yeah playing scored last night on tip in I think but it's a lot of futures for sure yeah two firsts and the you're one and two prospects in the leaf system yeah uh Rishog reporting oilers took a huge swing on Rantan. Rantan had interest in coming to Edmonton. Things were well down the path of an extension being agreed to. Dollars were north of what Dallas signed him for in the end. The trade assets weren't there to get it done. Also sounds like they looked in on Rackle, Raquel and Donato as well. Yeah. And look, it was weird this past summer when they didn't have a first rounder. And they traded this year's first rounder to make a selection at 32 overall.
Starting point is 00:32:48 They obviously like the player. I mean, Stan Bowman, I don't think have been hired yet. It was Jeff Jackson running the show. They ditched Kenny Holland the week of the draft. They loved a kid and they went and got him, and we'll see what the kid turns into, but there's a pretty small chance he's going to help the Oilers win a cup in the next three years. That's exactly the asset they didn't have to play on Friday,
Starting point is 00:33:07 the first rounder this year. All the other deals had firsts. You know, they'd given up for one for Wallman a year down the road. Like, it was a pretty confusing decision. When you're in a window to win, you don't often see a team go a year into the, future delete a first to go pick a guy at 32. Yeah, you'd think there might be someone in the room who would say it.
Starting point is 00:33:29 Now, before we press, press and you confirm on this trade, is there any, any chance we might want this, this first round pick for another, to use it in any other way, that was really good. That was the first. Do we want to make that kind of a deal or do we want to roll the dice on someone being picked in the 30s? Yeah. Kings beat Vegas last night,
Starting point is 00:33:52 despite a hat trick from Tomash Hurtle, LA three points back of Edmonton for second in the Pacific with a game in hand. We got a race. We got a race, fellas. Look, the Oilers are going to be heavily favored in that series if it happens again like it likely will. Could you win one out of four L.A.?
Starting point is 00:34:10 Like, just 25% is all we're asking for here. Just one. Just one. And Rob Blake's probably feeling that heat too. He doesn't want a playoff series. Stinks running into Edmonton every year, but just one. He's kind of hoping they might land around there. Really tried to will that into reality.
Starting point is 00:34:30 But I don't know. Just looking around, I wonder, you know, there's a lot of teams that, and the Oilers, they did their thing. But there's a lot of other teams that did some stuff too. And yeah, only one team wins it. But did you see. the stat line for Jake Wallman.
Starting point is 00:34:51 They played the piss out of this guy. Did they? First getting in, I think it was 28 minutes. Like, welcome to town. You got maybe 24 minutes. He had like six more minutes than Bouchard.
Starting point is 00:35:02 He and nurse were way up there. I think at home's out, if I'm correct. Yeah, like he's stinked up. Like, welcome aboard, top minute guy game one.
Starting point is 00:35:11 That's good coaching. Something. Welcome to town. Three shots, I think. Yeah. We visit him in our bet three six, five bets.
Starting point is 00:35:18 Is that right? And if those standings, when you had them, I'm not sure if they're handy there, Jack, but the Eastern Conference standings. Talk about New Jersey and Washington and all that. Then you kind of look at the screen, Florida Panthers. They have won six straight games,
Starting point is 00:35:38 40 wins, nice little cushion on Toronto. They played one more game, but they got a little cushion there. And over the last few weeks, added Seth Jones, the back end and then as again as the deadline came down to the final few seconds we find out that they had Brad Marchand I hope I mean I don't know why I don't really but I hope it works
Starting point is 00:36:00 you know what I mean I I would like not Marshan to go in there and then can't keep up and is an afterthought and you're like oh it's kind of a kind of a nothing deal in the end I would love for him to go in there and be a dirty shirt and just make them all the better and harder to play against. Do you know what I mean? I mean, look, that line you can put together. We talked about it on Friday. Bennett, Kachuk, and Marchand on the same line. That is just, he has to be, my concern is, and I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:36:32 My concern is that Boston knows him best. They didn't get hardly F all back in return, in my opinion, and they walked from their captain. And it's going to be. Yeah. I think the return was because he asked to go there. Okay, well, whatever. It's more that they're willing to walk away from them. Maybe they're doing them a favor.
Starting point is 00:36:53 I don't think teams look at it that way. Like they're not moving a guy that's integral to their room and, you know, is a leader, has been there forever if they don't think he could contribute. Like they're doing it because they don't think he could contribute anymore. Yeah, there was a gap on extension. I hope I'm wrong. No, I think you're right to an extent. They weren't comfortable extending him at a number that would have kept him there.
Starting point is 00:37:16 And when the extension talks fell apart, then it was like, okay, what are we doing here? He raised his hand and said, I'd like to specifically play here. There's a couple of Bruins in upper management in Florida, Gregory Campbell, Sean Thornton. It's a place he's obviously familiar with. He would have, you know, met a bunch of those guys at Four Nations. And to your point, like, he kind of got pushed down that lineup at that tournament. He was not as noticeable as typical Brad Marchand. How much is left?
Starting point is 00:37:44 I don't know, but I love them in a seven game series. more than that tournament, which is the fastest hockey I've ever seen. Yeah. You know, talking about Florida, it's to a lesser extent. It was Teresenko. Remember last year they were going to trade Teresanko, but where's he going to go? Well, he really only wants to go to Florida. They almost did it as a favor to Teresenko.
Starting point is 00:38:02 And for, I don't know, it was less return than what you thought you were going to get. And to your point, right? I think they have to, what, reach the East Final with Marchand, win two rounds with Marchand playing at least half the games. And there's a lot of guys that move for seconds. were dusters. So if it turns out to be a second, that sucks for Boston, but I think they also were at a crossroads of like, how do we treat an all-time franchise great on the way out? Probably wasn't easy taking a lesser package than there would have been elsewhere, but
Starting point is 00:38:31 you did them right. We talked again, we talked about it a bit on Friday. This hurts if you're a Boston Bruins fan. You've seen your team kind of have a tough year. You know, the goaltending stuff at the start of the year and then the team's not great and the free agent guys you brought in have not been good and the team's falling out and then you're selling at the deadline there's a list that somebody had put online the list of players that they have shipped out is i mean it's kind of staggering and then it's marchand it's the captain it's the heartbeat of your team probably a fan favorite to so many of those people marchand shows up in florida you excited to show you know and he is he's popped us to
Starting point is 00:39:10 join the new team but if you're a bruin's fan this this is just more ache for your heart. Here was Marshand on his first availability with the Panthers. You know, I've had an incredible run in that organization and I'm extremely proud. Just how things went there. Sorry. So yeah, it was very disappointing that things didn't get done just because obviously I, I, I, I love the organization I want to stay there. I don't hold that against him or the group. It's just part of it's part of life. It's part of the game. But also he you know he did create this opportunity for me to be here. So I am
Starting point is 00:40:15 grateful beyond words for everything that that organization is done for me. How about it? Days later. And he would go on to be very excited. He talked about, you know, that Bennett's a scumbag, looking forward to playing with him. Like he was, there was some levity and some, but to see, if you're a Bruins fan there again,
Starting point is 00:40:44 remember when Iggy went to Pittsburgh? Like, I wonder how he feels. Oh, I'm pretty excited to be here. Pittsburgh's great. I love Permanthes. Ah, this great barn. Love it here. The weather's nice.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Have you seen the rolling hills? It's beautiful here in Pittsburgh. I love it. He doesn't miss us at all. Sid. He's not upset about leaving us one bit. If you're at Bruins, you're like, oh, that's our point.
Starting point is 00:41:12 You made a reference to the turnover from two years ago when they set the modern day record for best regular season ever. Five guys left, sway in a net. McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm on the back end, Zaka, Pasternak up front. That's it. And that was kind of like what we saw happen here, from the Battle of Alberta series,
Starting point is 00:41:34 all you have left is Coleman, Backland, Anderson, Vladar. I saw the, you know that Fresh Prince of Bel Air meme? Where Will Smith is standing in the living room and all the furniture's gone. He's like, oh, kind of nothing left here.
Starting point is 00:41:48 There's McAvoy and Basternak. McAvoy is like, I was in the, I got a bad shoulder. What the fuck happened? I went away to this tournament. I got hurt. I was in hospital for a bit. I come back and now,
Starting point is 00:42:00 Carlos gone our captain's gone what the H is happening around here and I don't know like I could see them being solid but I don't think they're anywhere near being a contender again no and it's probably I don't know that any of the
Starting point is 00:42:17 the moves are the wrong moves you can argue there do you bother taking but you did it for him you get you did it for Marchand I don't know that necessarily they trade him unless Brad really wants to go it's a first round pick in the end if it gets to be that, but the Carlo deal was a good haul. I think, no, less about that.
Starting point is 00:42:35 It's more just like last summer really sewered them. Sure. Yeah, but to sit and kind of double down and say, no, maybe it's just a bad year, maybe Lindholm and everything will be better next year. That's not the vibe I get out of there. It's, we got to cut to cure. And if we're going to try and turn this thing around as quickly as possible, we got to do some things here.
Starting point is 00:42:52 The problem with the management is that they made those decisions not that long ago. I was thinking they were on the cusp of going the other. way, right? Like, I don't disagree with you. The cut to cure is the right move, but it was only six months ago that they were adding pieces that are, are albatrosses now. Yeah, it feels like. The one thing that has to get better is swayman, because that whole negotiation was bad for him. And he'd never played more than 44 games in the season. All those excuses are out the window next year. You've got to come back as a stud. Nathan Evelydar. Get him back. Get him back.
Starting point is 00:43:27 Corpus'al, not the answer. I know that. Yeah. I guess I can't trade for him now out of the way. Too late. Not from playoffs at least. Canada. Tim Hortons. Starting point is 00:45:13 I know you like having a stockpone. out there. Yeah, well, you know what? Like it's when you're at practice, son, you end on a good shot, end on a good, whatever, right? We're going to end there. End with the winner. Okay, good.
Starting point is 00:45:23 Love it. Donut. D-O-N-U-T. Anything else going on? Colorado's won five in a row. Blues are seven, one and two in their last 10. Blues are coming. The game's played there.
Starting point is 00:45:43 Yeah, a little concerning there. Could have had them in your rear view. If only, if only. Brett's going to talk about that two games set in St. Louis for every day for the next three months. I can feel it. Yeah. And rightfully so. They had a chance.
Starting point is 00:46:01 All you can ask for is a chance and they got a chance and then. They just lost Pareko for a while too. It was a six weeks. I'm thinking that's not ideal. But they didn't move Shen. I don't know. I guess Bennington's been good since coming back from Four Nations. That makes sense.
Starting point is 00:46:18 Binner. The winner. I got tonight. Not a great slate tonight. We'll get to it. Four games. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:46:38 All right. Snow. Yeah. I was just thinking I, I did some grilling yesterday. You know, it was so windy yesterday. The breeze?
Starting point is 00:46:48 So breezy. It really was. So I took my, the barbecue cover and I kind of set it on the little, whatever, the railing of the deck thing. And I wake up this morning and it's in the back corner of the yard, all covered in snow. Son of the shit.
Starting point is 00:47:07 Well, I'm going to have to wait till June for the backyard to dry up again now before I can go back and get my barbecue cover. Anyway, do the Pinder report, I guess. Why not? Yeah, sure. Pinder report. Brought you by Village Honda. The $1 million buy an event is back. Village wants to buy your pre-owned vehicle, even if you don't buy theirs.

Starting point is 00:48:04 That's us. We're going to miss. Nope, still not that. Still not that. Hey. Hey. Hey. Nice.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Are we got a jack? You know what? We do have a little jack portion coming up. Do we? We got some Pittsburgh news. He's really big on the penguins, I'm sure. So we'll find a way to get Jack in here in a moment. But first, uh, Rangler's been real rough of late.
Starting point is 00:48:26 They did get a win. Uh, yesterday. And, uh, yeah, look. like a good return from the road trip with that 1-0 victory against Montreal on Saturday. I wonder if these, if Wolf's great, but he allows two, how are we talking about that game? Is it their fatal flaw? It's not good enough.
Starting point is 00:48:45 Work ethic, sure. Yes, it's more skill. For sure. Yeah. And it's probably, wow. First game back, they treated it like a road game. It's like, yeah, you probably don't aim to score one in road games. But it'll be their fatal flaw.
Starting point is 00:48:57 When they're all put out to pasture, That'll be their fatal flaw. They didn't score. You don't think they're going out, scoring six a night? We showed you the standings. We'll show them again as Calgary clings to a one-point lead for the second and final wildcard in the West. Canucks lost last night. Thank you, Miko Ranton and company for the Dallas Stars.
Starting point is 00:49:20 Also in the mix, we told you St. Louis, they're a point back, although they've played two more than Calgary. And the Utahs are kind of just hanging around like a bad fart. I don't know that they're going away nor that they're that threatening. I agree. think they are just they're there. I don't see them as a threat. There's enough time left if they get their shit together, I suppose, but I don't know that they can, that they're going to leapfrog two teams,
Starting point is 00:49:46 three teams and make up that kind of ground. Out east, Calgary's got one road swing left. It'll start next week. They go Toronto, New York, Jersey and the Islanders. You can see a lot of those teams are quite good. Toronto and Jersey in playoff spots, Rangers, trying to recover from that horrendous first half of the year. And the aisles, the Utah East, just hanging around, hanging around.
Starting point is 00:50:10 Schedule looks like this with the flames. You told you about the upcoming road trip, but there are two more left than this homestand Wednesday night, Vancouver. Huge game, huge. We're talking, if you want to win that game, you will be holding a wild card that night. And if you lose it, you probably won't. Colorado on Friday will be a chore. You noted how well they've been playing.
Starting point is 00:50:29 And then there's that road swing. four games in six nights, way out east. They do get a little breather before a two-game homestand, and they are done with Eastern Conference teams after that game against the Islanders. Yeah, that's a road trip. Not as bad as the last six-gamer, but that ain't easy either.
Starting point is 00:50:48 Is there going to be a catchy, like it was Huska's nightmare, the last? Is this road trip going to have a catchy little kind of a moniker or something? Because it's New York area, but Toronto's in there. It's going to be on the roadie. I don't know if we can work that in, like the Tretchen. Is he going? Yes, he is.
Starting point is 00:51:04 Wow. Nice. Do some arena stuff because UBS is new there and MSG's MSG, Prudential's new. Um, or. So yeah, there's, uh, we're going to have Pike. I think we could actually get. I know next Monday we're going to be doing a different time show special day next Monday. Not sure if you're familiar. We might even be able to get Pike from New York City.
Starting point is 00:51:23 That's all right. Potentially. I know how excited you'd be. You'd be for that. Well, I don't want to talk about the rink. That's for sure. I mean, if we're going to get Pike on from the road, That's great that he's doing some arena homework or whatever.
Starting point is 00:51:37 But yeah, we need to come up with a name for this road trip. We got a week for it. So we'll put our best men on it. Alex Ovechkin continues to do Alex Ovechkin things, fellas. That includes empty netters. Sure, why not? As you can see the counter on the top right corner clicks down from 10 to 9. It's actually a pretty high-scale empty-netter, all things considered.
Starting point is 00:51:59 He's on the backhand. It looks like he feathers it right through the legs of a defense. defender. What a beauty. They're looking for him too, eh? Oh, yeah. And he's looking to shoot. He's definitely not surprised to find the puck come to him or wonder where the net is. He knows. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:52:18 It's not his fault. Hey, they took the goalie out. Ovi can't control that in the corner. Did I tell you to take out your goalie? 886. That's good. And yeah, there it is. Nine to pass. Good luck out.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Pretty good. Also on the weekend, Oveckin hit the 1600 point milestone, which is a shit ton of points. It's 11th all time. Now, before Jack flashes it up, I have faith in you, men, and Jack, you can't help because you've seen it, who are in the top 10 all-time points in NHL history?
Starting point is 00:52:57 Give us some names. We'll check them off as we go and I'll give some clues. Pardon me? Wayne. Wayne's number one, 2857. Jenkowski? See, I knew you would do this. What?
Starting point is 00:53:14 He's not in the top ten of all times. Mario? Mario is actually not as high as you think. He is eight at 1723. Yager? Yogs is two, 1921. Mess. Messier is third, 1887.
Starting point is 00:53:30 You said how? Not yet. 1850. He's fourth. Okay. Crosby? Crosby is nine. How many are we missing?
Starting point is 00:53:41 1664. And you are missing number five, six, and ten. Eras. Well, teammates of two on the list. Sackick's 10, 1641. You're missing five and six different eras. Five has two teammates on the list already, we mentioned. Oh, Ron Francis. That's correct.
Starting point is 00:54:02 Yager and Lemieux. He's so sneaky, hey? He really is. Five-th and all times. Yeah. Fifth all time. And this is the guy, number six, we're missing now. Sneaky tons of points, but we never really talk about it.
Starting point is 00:54:15 I don't know why it was not my era. Frenchman. Perot? Tangay? Not Perot. Not tangay. 1771 points from Marcel Dion. That's what I meant.
Starting point is 00:54:32 Wild. Woo. Ovi just passed Phil Ossmicito, another prolific goal score. Ray Borks, your top defense. still criminally under talked about he's actually, I believe, the all-time shots leader behind Ovi. That's it. Day man. Right.
Starting point is 00:54:50 Yeah. And Joe Thornton, Jumbo, your boy. Got a boy, Joe. Cracks top 14. Good work, Jumbo. So Ovi, next year he'll get sackick. Crosby's still moving. That's going to be tough.
Starting point is 00:55:02 Crosby's got Mario within his grasp next year. Stevie Y in Jeopardy, too. And worth mentioning, not to steal the, steal it from you. No. The gap between one and two is large. Yeah, I think it is. So what is that?
Starting point is 00:55:17 What's 700 and some? 730? Like, 1350, 1887, 1921, 2857. 2857. Yeah, the assists alone, if you'd note, would be better than everyone's points. Good luck, man.
Starting point is 00:55:31 Good luck. If you're in bold, you can move up. Everyone else, you're not catching Wayne, and you got some company behind you. That is still one of the best when you're, like when your kids are, you know, how good was Gretzky? Well, he has more assists than anyone has points.
Starting point is 00:55:48 Oh, well, he's probably just not much of a goal score. He actually scored the most goals in H.L. Yeah, he's also got all the goals. He does it all. Yeah. And they called him what? The great one. Okay, yeah, that checks out.
Starting point is 00:56:00 Okay, we'll move along. Brad Marchand, you saw the press conference. Here's a little note from Pierre Lebrun, who parley vuz Frances. Very talented man. Have you ever spent $109,000 and been like, wow, that's a lot of money? I haven't. Rhett may have.
Starting point is 00:56:17 The Florida Panthers, it's the best $109,000 they'll ever spend. That's what they actually have to pay Marchand and real money the rest of the way because he had a $3 million selling a signing bonus this year. One million salary and only a tiny portion of the season remain and half retention. Unbelievable. It sucks for him. But because of the time, he's already got the money. Yeah, you're right. He would have been better to pay the tax already.
Starting point is 00:56:40 It sucks. Did that tax and mass. Bad news for an old friend. Old friend. Yusov Alamaki heard again another A.C. L. Injury. Feel up for the guy.
Starting point is 00:56:58 Successful. But eight to nine months. And I don't know. This sport's littered with them, but injuries have stolen careers from very good players. This is two monster blows to Alamaki's career. I mean, look at Cole Bagley. Can we go full screen?
Starting point is 00:57:17 I mean, he's got in on Cole there. This guy's got, he's got the very non-traditional suit with hockey glove. Yeah, hockey gloves and stick, but in a suit. Like, Cole? He's a multi-threat kind of guy. Well, he's obviously, I would think probably in Utah. So he's letting everyone know he's been in on hockey for a while.
Starting point is 00:57:37 Hey, new year. Mr. Mr. Bagley. I'm called Bagley. He looks like a Bond villain. Poor bastard. Yeah, but who reported that? Called Bagley.
Starting point is 00:57:53 It was Bagley. Oh, called Bagley? That's correct. You guys remember when Renton was a Carolina hurricane? Yeah. He wears 96. So he actually gave Jack Roslovick a Rolex to wear it. And then 23 days.
Starting point is 00:58:14 What's the move here, Rhett? Is he allowed to ask for the Rolex back or not? You shouldn't have to ask for it back. Okay. So Roslilvic says, hey, buddy, that was kind of you. I got my old number back. I can send that Rolex T in Dallas. What does Randen say?
Starting point is 00:58:31 Thanks. Just inked a $100 million extension. So you're saying he should send a time? I don't think he cares about it, but it's the right thing by Roslavik to do. I'm surprised you would that's that that's your angle I thought it would be a GFY
Starting point is 00:58:49 you were with us you didn't play hard you didn't want to be here beat it I don't think he came in and did that so Retzokke's stealing our Yeti cooler from the Pondock attorney who did not attend but he demands that the Rolex
Starting point is 00:59:04 be returned and this it's not my how much is a Rolex I'm sure they're very in price but there are very yes but a run of the mill, you know, there's just like, 20 grand, 50 grand, 500 grand, 500 grand.
Starting point is 00:59:19 I have no frame of reference on it. You're not in the market? I am not. No. No. If you can buy a car instead of a Rolex, that's kind of the market we're in. Yeah. I don't even let me look.
Starting point is 00:59:35 No, whoop. Nothing. Let's keep moving. Tonight's games. No Rolex is on the line, but what, eight valuable points,
Starting point is 00:59:44 potentially even more with the student. but three point game. Could be more, yeah. Sabres hosting Oilers. Buffalo. Josh Norris, welcome to the rest of your life. Detroit's and Ottawa. Two Atlantic Division teams
Starting point is 00:59:59 trying to turn the corner this year. You noted the skid the wings are on. Blackhawks have actually been pretty good since the Seth Jones trade, surprisingly, but they're in tough tonight. Minus 500 are the abs of Bet 365. I have not seen a heavier favorite this year. I don't look every day, but minus 500 jumps out at me.
Starting point is 01:00:20 Like single game, obviously, like tonight. Like money line minus 500. You have to lay $500 to win 100. That's how huge a favorite the abs are tonight at home to the Blackhawks. And finally, Toronto continues their western swing. They got pumped in Vegas the other night. They get the Utah's with the thousands of seats that only see one net. Is it how fun?
Starting point is 01:00:42 Is it just me because I'm close to Buffalo? or are they the laughing stock? I think it was a pretty laughy trade deadline. I think it's worse. I think they're so, do you even pay attention to them? San Jose's bad, yeah, but they're coming.
Starting point is 01:00:59 They got Celebrity, Chicago, they're bad. They make good moves. Yes. You know what I mean? Wallman into a first. What a great idea. Pittsburgh. They're bad.
Starting point is 01:01:07 Yeah, but they got Buffalo. Ooh. Buffalo. I think the trade deadline was, a reminder of the sabres because you're right. They're pretty irrelevant. And then they go and move a guy coming into his prime, right
Starting point is 01:01:23 shot centerman, who already has shown you near point per game talent. And it looks like they lose the deal pretty handily. We'll see. We'll let it play out. But it was a reminder that, yes, they're still bad and yes, they can still potentially make bad decisions. Tough.
Starting point is 01:01:40 But they are the laughing stock. Who else, right? It's got to be. Yeah. I'm trying to think of who else would even be in that company. Like San Jose and Chicago's, they had plans to be bad so they could be good again. Yeah, it's Buffalo again. Yeah. Go get them, boys. Bake them away, toys. Make them away, toys. Uh, which, which game are you keyholeing in on? I like that Detroit, Ottawa, personally. Utah and Toronto could be good. And if you like overs, I don't know that, uh, Edmonton Buffalo couldn't provide that. We'll see.
Starting point is 01:02:13 Uh, our boy, Jack, very excited because things are happening in Pittsburgh. No, not No, not Ricky Racks. D.K. Metcalf to the Steelers. Five years, 150 million. Premadonna wide receivers get paid and they are happy. And so they're not happy years into that deal. He'll line up at the opposite side as George Pickens.
Starting point is 01:02:35 The only question now, Jack, is who will be throwing in the football? I don't know. It looks like Justin Field is going to go to the Jets. And then Jerry Doolak tweeted this morning, the Steelers are signing Rogers. He's a Steelers reporter. And then he deleted his tweet. So I don't know what's going on.
Starting point is 01:02:55 What about CTSPN? What are they reporting? Because I know they've been very... They were on the Rogers. Yeah, CTSPN last night was on the Rogers. Okay. How would we feel about the black and yellow, black and yellow with Aaron Rogers at the helm?
Starting point is 01:03:11 I'm at the point now. Whoever's going to take the least amount of money they can come play for our team. I don't want the darn old four year 120 million. I don't want to pay fields. Wilson can come back for nothing and Rogers can come play for nothing. Jack, can you just earmoss for a sec? Yeah, just go to talk.
Starting point is 01:03:30 Okay, so between us for the sake of the Jack Ometer and just the drama that we get to enjoy. Yeah. Who's the, who's going to offer the most? Rogers is peak vault. It's probably Rogers, right? So we want Rogers just for the best Jack or Russell back to? What do you think? You had like a Wilson
Starting point is 01:03:47 Rogers combo. There's just such a huge amount of pain and chaos to unlock. A combo of Wilson and Rod. Wouldn't that be unbelievable? Wow. That's the two right there. Steelers continue talking to Fields and Russell Wilson,
Starting point is 01:04:03 but Aaron Rogers has emerged as a quarterback auction in Pittsburgh per league sources. This is from Adam Schefter. Rogers and the Steelers are expected to talk and explore a union. The idea of Rogers playing for Tomlin is in play. those two i'll say this if you've watched any of those hard knocks over the years there is a i mean tomlton's not an idiot but there's true respect between those two guys tomlin rogers
Starting point is 01:04:26 two humble quarterbacks uh rogers and wilson if you could get them yeah i man there's a obviously selfishly what we want is the opportunity for the biggest implosion and emotion out of jack we need a steelers hard knocks too that would be unbelievable it's rogers it's got to be rogers right jack damn it you're supposed to i know i'm kind of on board with it too fuck it uh big shout out
Starting point is 01:04:54 to friend of the show ben hebes ben hebert another briar championship is the boys from Alberta amazing shots yesterday right down to the last rock fellas I feel a little bit bad for Dean's Manitoba buddy old Dunstone he threw one
Starting point is 01:05:12 right who Dunstone. He missed completely with his second last rock and the ninth end. I do like those hats with the Bisons though. I like to give me one of those.
Starting point is 01:05:23 I would go with this joke. I didn't watch a second of it. So my parents were here and they had it on constantly and then I was addicted. There was some good curling this year. I didn't watch a ton of it, but. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:36 I mean, it's gone. People are around it. Certain places you'll find it. Even my kids were intrigued. Okay, so this is like darts on ice, but it's a shuffleboard. How does this work? Yeah, what?
Starting point is 01:05:48 But closest to the middle is going to win, right? Yeah, yeah, okay. Ben Hibes, of course, came on with us. I want to say a couple years ago, fellas. Huge, huge personality. He's on the far right. He can bench Prince of Buick and sweep the shit out of a stone. Congrats to him.
Starting point is 01:06:04 So what province is this? Albert. Okay, great. Who now become team Canada. Out of Pender's home rank, the Glencoe, Carly. They do curl out of the Glencloth. Who is ranked it as well. A granite curling club in one of a carrie Burtonick, Jeff Stoughton.
Starting point is 01:06:20 Congrats. That's all I'm saying. How'd boy, Benny Hebes. Good dude. Now, Rhett, you're an alpinist, but you also, boom is a surfer. So we found something because, what, Surf Life magazine? Yeah, never. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:32 What could you guys do together? And then we found the ass, which is just remarkable. He's? Stop that. Why? I already did the double black diamonds. Trip, this is the only one that's triple volume. So the best part all this is if we're just dead silent, crank the volume.
Starting point is 01:06:58 What the fuck is happening? Stop it. Stop that. You can't be serious. Why? I already did the double black diamonds. This is the only one that's triple. It's a triple black diamond.
Starting point is 01:07:14 Just people yell like, what the bleep? Like, what? Next, shoveler's nimble. We know that she'll be busy today. I don't know if this is early footage from this morning, Rhett, but a lot of snow out there. Careful, folks. She's on the roof here with the shovel.
Starting point is 01:07:33 Look at that. Jesus Christ. That's Jason born. That's Shaveling. That's Rat's wife. Good feet. Good feet. You got to have experience in this stuff.
Starting point is 01:07:48 You don't do that. You've got to learn. Not a hobby. Congrats to her on the nice moves. I forgot about that clip. Jesus Christ. Jason, we used to have the old show.
Starting point is 01:08:05 It was on City. So some affiliate network, and we'd just be promoing the crap out of it or something like, movie promos, whatever it was. Well, what was great is they,
Starting point is 01:08:12 and they actually edited the clip because I think it was a different JC before they hit the J.B or at least they cut the so it was very gratuitous. It was a gratuitous edit to get your attention. Hard J.C. On the AM radio. J.C.
Starting point is 01:08:27 I'll see if I can find it. Yeah, good. Thanks for that. We like beer, right? Makes me a jolly good fellow. We like German engineering, right? Like they're great at making cool stuff, cars and stuff. Let's see how they're delivering beers in Germany. See if we can't get this going at Stampede this summer, right?
Starting point is 01:08:44 Next Monday. Yes, Monday for sure. We're going to get the drones. Go, let this. Can you imagine ordering a beer right to the middle of the mosh pit? Oh, yeah. But is this AI or is this real? Can we actually dream about this?
Starting point is 01:09:05 You told us about flying cars. What can you tell us about flying beers? I think you can do it. I think the, uh, the technology's out there. I don't trust the Lugans for, well, I was just going to say, the only way this goes wrong is if some ass hat, smacks it down. You got to keep it high.
Starting point is 01:09:22 Look, there's some arms that come up and he like dodges right away. It'd be great if you were, like they wanted to send one to the band. Yes. Yes. Send one to the drummer.
Starting point is 01:09:31 Yeah, you got a guitar solo, send the lead singer or want to slam. Oh, that's great stuff. Boy, that makes me happy. Technology, hey, Rhett. Just making our lives better. Love it.
Starting point is 01:09:41 AI. Spring breaks kind up and a lot of people are making plans. Are you going to Cancun? Cosamel. Cosmel. Because I know the shoveler had this on her. Socials, very excited. Does he got a bulldog up top, rats,
Starting point is 01:10:02 got multiple margaritas. Look at this guy. They better tip this guy. What do you hand it out here? 20 U.S. It's a lot of money. Well, the drinks themselves are probably a bunch of. Yeah, but I didn't ask for this type of service.
Starting point is 01:10:25 I just want. That's true. You feel bad. You're like, ah, shit. He's got a strawberry. marg up there, a bulldog, a couple lime marks, God. A dachry in there, Dino?
Starting point is 01:10:35 Oh, delicious. Do you like the bulldog? I feel like it's a lot, it's showy. It really is. Do you? I find you've got to be really careful with your beer to margarita mix because if it gets too beery at the end,
Starting point is 01:10:51 is that what happens? It gets too beery. Oh, God, that's the end of the world. That's the end of the world. It's too, no. You got to watch, Rhett. You got to watch. If your ratio is right, it's a great drink.
Starting point is 01:11:01 You're not careful. It gets beery. That's just like, bring me more. Yeah. I'm good. We should probably, that's probably our type of science experiment. Yeah. We should find what you have to do to get the right portion proportions for the bulldog.
Starting point is 01:11:16 We also like pizza. Beer and pizza, two things we love. Because we're men. Love pizza. We have something on pizza here. We have pizza. Oh, this is tape of this New York pizza toss. First off, we get a wrong.
Starting point is 01:11:29 long address. Pizza guys here, construction guys there. Not true butch this one, but can't have that occur on a daily basis. Luckily, we got a pizza guy that can improv. It says, how about a toss? Now these claps right here, but the construction guys what it's all about. Ready to make a play, gamer, can't teach that. Now this toss, just pure athleticism, a little curve, pin job by the receiver. Talk about wanting more. Just a gritty effort. Hey, it's a big time play. Happy for the boys. They got their lunch, crowds digging it. Check this laugh. All in all, it's just a great. great athletic play by both our quarterback and wide receiver. But guys, we got to remember the little thing so we don't have to rely on pure athleticism every time. It's great call. Love going to
Starting point is 01:12:10 break down the tape. Not since David Tyree. Have we seen a pin catch? Impressive. Also in New York. Look at that. Nice. Athletes. Finally, Rhett, I don't know what happened to Boomer, but he had a little He dinged up his car. I don't know if he'd sent you this video. It's kind of gone viral. He definitely wasn't happy with the bodywork and kind of went postal. Leaving via this window. Sorry, Dean.
Starting point is 01:12:56 I hope everyone is okay. Some people just like, no, it's that it's the, it's the time change. It gets people off kilter. Yeah. That's a big, big, no daylight savings time guy. It's weird for a guy that never has, never likes to set a schedule. You're very strict with your sleep.
Starting point is 01:13:24 It's about, go and check the stats, Dino. Heart attacks and car accidents that will happen today is significantly more than an average. That's why we didn't leave the house. Yes. Safety first. I did leave the house. I had to throw my whole system out of whack. Don't even let it know what time it is.
Starting point is 01:13:42 Yeah. No. You self-adjusted over the weekend by the sounds of it. pender to the, yeah. Back to sea level. Red and I aren't quite ready. Maybe by tomorrow. Maybe by tomorrow. No. Look at me day. How long? Yeah, how long of these effects, right?
Starting point is 01:13:58 Because, like, I've woken up an hour early, like, we've caught flights. We've done, like, I'm not going to paint myself into a corner pender. It'll, I'll be, when I'm ready, when it, when things, yeah, you'll know. Yeah. Let us know. We're thinking about you. That's your Pender report on Monday. There you go. I hope that doesn't happen at Village today. Oh, gosh.
Starting point is 01:14:21 Please. Well, that means it's in the repair bay. It's the million dollar buy-in event, but if by chance you don't agree with the appraisal that you get, time change or not, just kindly shake their hand and on with your very way. Complementary appraisals, payment within 24 hours, competitive trade and buy-in values. Best of all, it's easy and stress-free. They want your used vehicle. You're pre-owned. They want it for the lot.
Starting point is 01:14:44 They want it for just need it. It's what they're doing. And they're putting their money where their mouth is. You can begin the appraisal process online at village honda.com. What was that other one? The guy, we saw the guy drive into the dealership. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:03 There was a month ago. Returning a car or something? Returning a car? I don't want this. They wouldn't let them return it a week later or something like that. That's, that's a lot. Nothing to do with village somewhere in the States. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:14 I like to think that I've kind of in my later, years now. I don't feel like my temper rises to those elevations. I'm the opposite, Dean. My lack of give a shit has overtaken my, my anger. So I'm not angry. I just don't care what anyone thinks.
Starting point is 01:15:35 And I've got the old man say and do whatever. I don't care. Yeah. You can feel like there's probably just an underlying level of grumpiness, but less outbursts. Yeah, it's not outright rage. It's just, I saw a great one yesterday.
Starting point is 01:15:49 I'm in a parking lot. So it's I'm parked facing the street. So street is going this way. Sidewalk. Street. I'm facing this guy walks between my vehicle and the passenger side and the driver's side of another one. And it's the middle of a block and it's a busy street. And dude has a bag of groceries and it's not a crosswalk.
Starting point is 01:16:11 Like it's just the street. And he starts walking. He doesn't even really, I'm sure he kind of does a quick little periff. but he just walks out Oh my God It's going Frogger Haug Ha ha ha he just
Starting point is 01:16:25 He doesn't stop It's just a slow steady trudge And he just kind of does Just kind of I'm not sure that they're slowing down And waiting for you I think they had to Very quickly hammer on the binders
Starting point is 01:16:42 So they were going to hit you He didn't lift his head It was just Thanks thanks thanks guys Yeah thanks Thanks that's a level of oblivious that I hope to get to someday. I may get run over.
Starting point is 01:16:55 I may not. They're very upset with me. I don't care. He just walked it. He finally got across the street, sat down on the bus bench, just waiting for his bus. He's like,
Starting point is 01:17:07 the over's already hit. I'm just walking now. Up to you guys, if you want me around or not. Oh, what a life. Not a care in the world, that man.
Starting point is 01:17:17 You know, unless he gets hit by a car and then he'd have some concerns, probably. Or he wouldn't. There'd be nothing to concern about potentially. I believe your pelvis is broken and your back is,
Starting point is 01:17:27 your back is badly down. I can see and yet there's bones out. Oh, well, it has been a good run. And, uh, your bag of groceries. Someone drove over your oranges. Oh, fuck. You know how much groceries are? Son of my.
Starting point is 01:17:46 Jesus. Uh, hearing loss clinic. Yeah. They're trying to make your life better. And how are they doing it? Well, they want you to, you know, they want you to hear better. There's things about hearing. We've told you for a long time.
Starting point is 01:18:05 You know, you don't know. Maybe that's what that guy needs. Maybe he needs a trip to the hearing loss center because then he would be more, you know, he'd be more present. He'd be hearing the things around him. He'd be aware of things. It'd be empowering for him. Maybe he would go to a crosswalk and then wait.
Starting point is 01:18:19 It's hard to say. It's hard to say. But people of all ages can suffer from hearing loss. You think, oh, well, if you, if you have hearing aids or you need help with hearing. he must be getting old. There's a lot of kids that struggle in school because they have undiagnosed hearing loss or suffer from hearing challenges. Travis and Sabrina Rhodes,
Starting point is 01:18:36 just the best that our city has to offer. They've been given back for years. They continue. They have five locations in Calgary, five in BC, Cranbrook, Crest, and Furny, Golden, Invermere. Helping you hear better is simply their way of helping you live better. Book and assessment today.
Starting point is 01:18:50 Hearing loss. com. You'll be surprised. You'll be surprised. Or you'll go in and they'll say, Actually, yep, great. Your hearing is tremendous. Oh, it's great news.
Starting point is 01:19:00 Carry on. And please cross at the crosswalk, press the button, wait for the lights to flash. Look both ways for crossing. That's right. Watch right out, icy roads. Didn't even look to his left. Car slams on the brakes. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:14 I wonder, because I was thinking about that with the hearing loss clinic because like with kids and that. I have some hearing because I got my hearing. I wonder how long. What if it went all the way back? because I don't think I ever had my hearing checked when I was a kid. What if the fact that I was a big, fat, dumb idiot was just because of my lack of hearing? Where would I be today if maybe I had undiagnosed hearing loss, thus if diagnosed I would have had it checked and then we would have, I'd be so smart.
Starting point is 01:19:47 My remarks would have been through the roof. I'd be. I wonder where I'd be. Sure shit, not on a podcast with two idiots. I mean, probably not. Probably not. They don't guarantee. I mean, there's no guarantees that way from the hearing loss clinic, just so you know.
Starting point is 01:20:06 They also don't have a time machine, so you're kind of stuck with us now. Yeah. True. True. So what's up today, Retro? You're looking at it. My shoulders killing me. I didn't sleep.
Starting point is 01:20:22 Is that the time changed too? Maybe a sauna. Do you have a sauna? I got a sauna? You got a red light, infrared or what are you? I got the, uh, E-E-M-F bed pulse of electro like that. I want to do all that. I want to get all that.
Starting point is 01:20:45 Well, you're not coming to my house to do it. Okay. Can you sleep in your bed, Red? Is that okay? So hard. The mixed messages I get from Rhett sometimes. I mean, he wants to go on trips and then when it's time to go in the trip. Also, I might not be here the rest of the week, as in the studio here. but like, I might not be in this week. In the Calgary?
Starting point is 01:21:10 Calgary. Yeah. So it's a home, a home week. When do you think, and next week probably two. When do you think you'll know about whether you'll be in Calgary?
Starting point is 01:21:22 I'm letting you know that these weeks started. It's like the guy crossing the street. Yeah. We'll know. Yeah. Okay. So if we pull up a black square tomorrow for a third of the screen we'll know you're gone i'll text you preish yeah appreciate how's your
Starting point is 01:21:40 phone working by the way good i can't get my phone to work i uh yeah no yeah i got rid of the uh what was it the one with the emergency button where it just blows up the james bond phone the mission impossible yeah the mcgruber phone uh let's take a look at our uh take a look at our uh Bet three six five. Breaking news coming in from Bet365, where every nail biting overtime win is a barn burner. Every face off hat trick, power play shot on goal, penalty shot, and every suspenseful minute in between is amazing.
Starting point is 01:22:21 Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365, an official partner of the NHL, download the Bet365 app today. Use that promo code nation to get in on the game. Must be 19 or older. Please play responsibly. four games in the NHL tonight. What is this?
Starting point is 01:22:38 Jake Walman was, well, put a bit of a clinic on on Saturday. They brought them in and they used the hell of them. I want to pull the stats to make sure I get it right because I was telling you about, welcome to town. Here's the top minutes for the game. Oilers were victorious on Saturday over Dallas.
Starting point is 01:22:57 Jake Wallman, one assist, plus three, three shots, two hits, three blocks, 2440 only nurse played more and significantly quite a bit more than Evan Bouchard for six minutes more. The wall dog shots and the point tonight. Plus 135 for a point plus 180 for three shots. That's what he had Saturday.
Starting point is 01:23:17 Number 96. It's the Walrus. And it's Buffalo too, which, you know. Coooo-coo-choo. Get some on the other side of the ledger. Buffalo. Is that the game tonight? Oh, my.
Starting point is 01:23:31 Poor buff. Yeah. Not poor buff anymore. It's hard to feel for me. I think they. You feel for the fans, but the owners, sorry, you picked all these people to run this. You hire Kevin Adams, you get that Kevin Adams. Meanwhile, Rob Ray's taking Pucks right to the mind.
Starting point is 01:23:52 Yeah. You know, getting busted open. That does. It does scream that anyone can do this job. Well, and he wasn't in hockey ops. he came right over from the business side. That's not a smart thing to do, I'm going to suggest. He might be okay at it eventually, but he's going to make rookie mistakes.
Starting point is 01:24:13 He's not a rookie anymore. He's five years at this. And it's, how has it gone for five years? What he inherited was a young, promising team that should eventually turn the corner. That's the same thing he has now. Yeah. It's not as he involves. So anyone can do it.
Starting point is 01:24:34 Well, yeah, I mean. To that? Over the weekend, yeah, there is kind of a Twitter, Instagram stuff. It's also. Here's the behind the scenes of how this trade went down. They'll show the GM on the phone, this sort of thing. I would love to see the Buffalo one where it's central scouting or whoever, or central registry is like, okay, so the second round pick, that's going to Buffalo from,
Starting point is 01:24:56 okay, from Buffalo to, the other one. Uh, just hang on. Uh, Buffalo, I just want some clarity. The, the second round. So you're sending the second round. Okay. So, uh, Ottawa.
Starting point is 01:25:17 Cousins. Gilbert and a second. Right. Okay. We'll pass it along. I was, I was hoping we get fron on on Friday so we could really dig into. I know. Disappointing.
Starting point is 01:25:29 We didn't have fron. Yeah. Yeah. Or your buddy Julian or whoever, who's the big Sabers fan who sent you the tech. on Friday there, Rhett? He said, Biggest,
Starting point is 01:25:39 the biggest guy in Canada. Jamal. Jamal. Not Julian. Sorry. How's he doing? Has he recovered? Jamal,
Starting point is 01:25:47 he's having a tough time. Yeah. Like all of them. Yeah. Like all of them. Have you heard from any of the people out there? Not happy. Hey.
Starting point is 01:25:58 People are not excited. They're not. The problem is, too, like you've got a guy coming in that you're, you don't dislike, but it's like, this doesn't make any sense. What are we after here?
Starting point is 01:26:09 Maybe this will be the thing when they're having their parade and they're doing the big, you know, they're at the podium and all the fans are out there. Kevin Adams could come out and be like, I told you, the turning point was the day that we brought in
Starting point is 01:26:24 Josh Norris and everybody thought that I was in it, that's the day. We're here today because that trade started at all. maybe i mean there's alternative universe so maybe there is potential maybe that
Starting point is 01:26:42 could be and they said don't throw in the second rounder but that was the pick we needed to get the deal done to turn around buffalo's fortunes for the rest of humanity you know what the other part is now moving forward who's that second rounder going to be and oh that'll turn out because on paper it's one thing now watch the guy go to the Hall of Fame.
Starting point is 01:27:08 As a Flames fan show, there's many in the comments that know exactly who the first rounder that went to the Islanders for Travis Hammondick has turned into and many other exciting transfers. Yeah, those happen. I think it was in Toronto when they traded Tom Curvers for a first rounder.
Starting point is 01:27:31 Well, they got Tom Curvers for a first round pick in the first rounder was Scott Niedermeyer. Oh. Those hurt. Yeah. The flames actually traded up for a goal in the 90s. Really like this young fellow Trevor kid. And so they moved from around 30 up much higher in the draft.
Starting point is 01:27:49 The team that traded with the New Jersey. And with that selection, the Flames gave them. They selected the greatest school attender arguably of all time, Marty Bruder. Yeah. Flurries, the one Flurries like 200 and some. Beyond games. Yeah. Jeez.
Starting point is 01:28:03 Yeah, when you have a, but in fairness, I'm not sure the flames liked, would have even taken them at that point. Didn't like Western Canada. Right? Like the Braden Point one is a good one. We'd rather have a Witherspoon clearly than Braden Point. We would much rather have, uh, that game's easier to play because it's, yeah,
Starting point is 01:28:24 everyone passed on Braden Point at least twice in that draft, including the Tampa Bay. He's so good. I like, I do like the ones where people move up with assertion. Yes. I'm not going to let this get by me and it's just dog
Starting point is 01:28:40 and sometimes it'll work for both teams they move up, get their guy, he's really good the team that got some extra to move back well their guys are good too sometimes sometimes not so much The flames traded back twice
Starting point is 01:28:54 before selecting Conner's area I believe that's true imagine who they might have picked if they didn't trade back twice maybe it's Conor Zara night still in his area It's not me. I hate looking at old drafts. No, you love it.
Starting point is 01:29:09 What if? Yeah. Can't stand it. Oh, yeah. Super chat. It is so super. All the money raised goes to the youth centers of Calgary, place where kids are welcome, brought in,
Starting point is 01:29:24 warm meal, some good values, some good habits. And then you, as the donators, get to see your comment shown on the program. Inside the Super Bowl. Chad. And some Dan's vacation. Reynolds, three, Honda, three big ones, three brown, boom, boom.
Starting point is 01:29:42 Been holding on to this one for a special occasion, but it's been noodling around up top for a while. Who is Rhett's Spirit Muppet? Pinder's easy. It's Gonzo on Ritalin. A hundred percent. Boomer is obviously a Canadian version of Sam the Eagle. But Red is stumping me. Please him. I, uh, he's,
Starting point is 01:30:05 got a bit of Stadler and Waldorf in him. You know, the grumpy old men in the, yeah, back in a, they call this for comedy. Get off my lawn vibes. Yeah, that's 100%. Yeah. That's good question. Because who are some other, I mean, you've got,
Starting point is 01:30:23 he's not the Swedish chef. Swedish, beaker, um, it's not beaker. Fuzzy, animal. Dirk, jerk, jerk, jerk, jerk. Yeah, I love the Swedish chef. He's a good one. Yeah. He didn't have eyeballs.
Starting point is 01:30:43 Or they were just closed because there were some of those ones, right, that had like the hair or whatever would come down. You couldn't really see their eyes. I don't know where they trust this bastard. That's a great. You know what? Great question. Great question.
Starting point is 01:30:54 Something like COVID, we got into the dope instead of watching the old Muppets, but that was pretty cool for a while. Yeah. That's something to do. Thank you, handsome Dan. Very good. Three hondo for the kids. Somebody said,
Starting point is 01:31:10 that Fossey Fuzzy bear sucks. I don't know, does it? Yeah, no free, no, Jeremy, oh, that's going to cost you. Get your two bucks in. We don't get free ones. Fine, Jeremy.
Starting point is 01:31:23 Free ones. He's on Fuzzy. He was a bit of, uh, he was not an alpha. No. You know, like he was, okay, I'll go whatever. Oh, he's not, he's kind of spineless. So what's, tell me about Sam the Eagle, if that's you. I don't remember what Sam the Eagle did. I think he's just kind of old and
Starting point is 01:31:40 And there's a bit of harumph there. Okay. As long as he's a little bit miserable. Oh, yeah. He's, yeah, he is that. I was going to say,
Starting point is 01:31:50 if not Gonzo, then you would be animal. Yeah, I can do that. Like, I feel like that one's almost, that's me on the numbers. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:59 That's, just, yeah. AM, PM, time change, beers, dope, whatever, like,
Starting point is 01:32:04 I just feel like that's, let's go. Yeah, that's absolutely. Uh, you, regardless of what state you're in. That's a good question though.
Starting point is 01:32:13 Thank you, Handsom Dan. Well done. Sure fellow that Handsom Dan. Yeah. And proud supporter of the candy bracket details. I guess. Yeah. Is this the week?
Starting point is 01:32:24 Yeah. We can, uh, I mean, we're just getting fine tuning the last little bit. But, um, it's going to be a, it's going to be a, it's going to be highly controversial.
Starting point is 01:32:34 It's a banger. We're March. It's madness. Even, even in-house as we were putting together. because I did. You know what? I don't like the shoveler.
Starting point is 01:32:45 Ryan, Jack, RJ. There were a lot of people that we went to asking their opinion. Canvas. Yeah, that we wanted to get a very fair ranking of the candy within the candy bracket
Starting point is 01:33:00 to just to start things off. Selection committee is a very important job to do and it was taken seriously as it should be. Yeah. So I would think here we're going to be able to announce the bracket participants. And as you kind of said, we're going to have,
Starting point is 01:33:16 it was a battle for the last two spots. We narrowed it down to four for the last two. So I know how you feel about, you know, play in tournaments for the, for the NHL. It doesn't maybe work. But we're going to have, we're going to have a battle. Four candy, four candies for the last two candy spots on the bracket.
Starting point is 01:33:35 And that will come up here early this week. Courtesy our pals of Crystal Waters and handsome days. It's another one of those things, too, where you almost kind of defer to the, to the young, because I'm an old guy, right? I don't know what some of these candies are yet they're very popular. And then you start thinking, well, I did see it all my, my daughter, she was very excited. She ran in and grabbed a bag of these, whatever they are. She heard her friends, loved them.
Starting point is 01:34:02 I don't know what they are. Just because I don't know what they are doesn't mean they don't belong in the candy bracket. I don't want ageism or, that's, it's. To remove your bias. This is bigger than that. It's the barn burner candy bracket. Brought you by Handsome Dan's vacation rentals and crystal waters, plumbing and heating, your crystal clear choice. Handsom Dan.
Starting point is 01:34:23 Handsodans.ca is the website. Go and check it out. Some vacation rentals on Vancouver Island. Maybe you just want to get away. You don't want to be in a host. Lakefront, ocean front, do some fishing, hiking, do some boating, maybe a rowboat. Mount Washington, do some skiing and snowboarding in the winter. And then, of course, you know about Crystal Waters.
Starting point is 01:34:45 Whatever's going on in your house with the heartbeat, the furnace, the hot water tanks, all that that goes on. You don't know what to do. I don't know what to do when things go sideways. But we, at the same time, we know who to call. And that's Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating. Crystal Clear choice for all your plumbing and heating home comfort, 403, 219, 4100, Crystal Clear, Calgary.com. juice is going to be flowing right here. We got Canucks and Avalanche for the Flames,
Starting point is 01:35:14 candy bracket. I hope this time change doesn't knock you out. We got a lot of competing to do this week. Yo! You! I actually saw Lex from Crystal Waters. Did you? This kid was playing after mine.
Starting point is 01:35:25 Good luck to them. Hopefully they had a win after our tough defeat. So where, how far are we from crowning champions? Next weekend. I think it's 10 to 11 days, I think. Soon. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:39 is it's winner go home time now it is we went oh we got you know if you lose you go a beast of that that whole stuff that is ancient history now for my young fellas like you're not even allowed to keep scoring you nine anymore which is ridiculous um why thing and so it's like now you actually have tournaments not jamborees you win or you lose and the season comes to an end when you lose a game and they get to feel what we've all felt which is the pain of sitting in your gear not wanting to take it off because your season is abruptly ended no i never was like that i was always quickly get it off because the coach is an idiot and didn't play me enough all right fellows we tried our hardest let's get on this jet and get back to cowboys yeah i was talking to uh one of the
Starting point is 01:36:28 parents because uh we got the ringette provincials talking to one of the dads and he started yeah so for this weekend we were thinking about uh because he's got another i've got another daughter she's playing but uh there's a chance so i'm kind of okay what's So basically what I'm thinking is, I think I'm going with old fashions. Like that's what it's going to be. It's going to be an old fashioned weekend. I've got just with the mix, the booze that I have in the cupboard and that it's going to work well. It's going to be old fashions.
Starting point is 01:36:59 It's like, good. You've got it figured out, sir. You've got it figured out. I'm in. Yeah. Yeah. What else we go? So, yeah, this is the, the super chat.
Starting point is 01:37:08 What else? I see there was another one there, Jack. of Ben von Muehodorfer. Five bucks. Happy birthday, Tom Von M. We've been listening to you guys for years.
Starting point is 01:37:18 We talked about the show every day even though I live across the country. Love you, dad. Love you, dad. Out of boy, Tom, big talk. Bob Mujodorifer. It's your ring the feels that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:37:31 Thumb. Ben and Tham. Love you, boys. Good old thom. Happy birthday. Living across the country. Footballer. looks like it.
Starting point is 01:37:42 Yeah. Looks like it. I've been listening to you guys for years. Talk about the show every day. Should we apologize or what's the movie now? Hope there's more to talk about, man. But glad we could be there for you. Happy birthday.
Starting point is 01:37:59 Love you, Dad. Ken is in right before the, right at the wire. How about we talk about parricks pass this weekend and Wolves barely get talked about except in Calgary for called her. The wolf slander is interesting. I think what will change the tone entirely is if the flames do get into the playoffs. Because look who he's up against.
Starting point is 01:38:21 Mishkov, Philly's a tire fire. San Jose, awful team celebrating. He's having a great year. And I don't think Montreal is going to get in, given how crowded the east is, although they're close. He's not really being, like, P.K. Subang went ranting about three other guys not named Wolf for the final. It's crazy. Yeah, because he's up to date.
Starting point is 01:38:40 He's generally, If I want P.K. Subban's ideas, I'd tell him to write him down and go put him in the garbage because I'm not really with him on a lot of stuff. But you can't not have Wolf in your top three and you should be building a strong case room to be the one of the two. It's just that there's three really, really good rookie years. Mishkovs isn't it in the top three. It's a fourth. But Celebrini is playing amongst men as an 18 year old and dominating and winning puck battles and playing big minutes. Wolf just set a franchise record for shutouts for the flames by a rookie goaltender. You haven't seen a rookie goaltender get 20 wins in ages. He's got the second best safe percentage and even strength in the league.
Starting point is 01:39:21 Only hellibucks is better. He's single-handedly dragged them into a playoff spot. And then Lane Hatsons put up 60 points on the blue line, which is an incredibly rare occurrence. It's a tough year, but he should be considered seriously, especially if they get in. I think it's going to, you'll really see his odds change. Like Hudson and Celebrini seem hard to avoid. Yeah. Celebrini scores.
Starting point is 01:39:41 He tied Mishkov for the rookie leading goals. He's got 20 and 53 games, 48 points. Hudson. Yeah. Hudson's got 49 points in 63 games. He's got 50 friggin points as a rookie on the blue line. And then, yeah, like I don't know. Like you had said it the other day when we brought up Mishkov leading the league and hit the 20 mark.
Starting point is 01:40:02 And you had said he's not even going to get nominated. And I was kind of like. Really? It's good class, right? But I do wonder with goalies, you don't play every night. And I'm not saying he shouldn't should or shouldn't be, I guess. I just don't know what the criteria is or what they look at for voting on this. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:22 And again, I just think if they get in, that's going to be a tiebreaker for a lot of voters. Because you cannot make the case that with Dan Vladar and some other guy this team's getting in. And that speaks massively to your value as a rookie. And until this team gets an ex by them, he's going to be the 15 to 20 to 1, we've seen all year to win it, in my opinion. Or maybe what's best is he doesn't, and then he's angry, that he's motivated. Under the radar, yeah. They're still not respecting me.
Starting point is 01:40:56 I'm going to show the world. Just sign that contract for you. That's Dean's approach. I get no respect. Sam the Eagle Despite being Dean the Beaver So great
Starting point is 01:41:10 That's me Yeah Yeah The respect part The lack of respect for sure Not sure about the other stuff Whether deserving respect Probably
Starting point is 01:41:24 You're also going to be looking at Like tens of millions of dollars Eight year extension this summer Oh yeah Yeah And away has options Yeah I got beef Waiting for
Starting point is 01:41:32 Uh A beef doing it for you Got beef waiting for the phone call you sure you didn't even know about their yigore he's the right guy for you certainly you know then about our yigore in galley huh i fuck i don't i don't know what you're talking about uh show tomorrow it's not a game day so helmet's optional uh tomorrow tuesday you say you're not we're not we're not going in no oh okay Are you going to be in the country? Are you just going to go from home?
Starting point is 01:42:10 I don't know where. Eat a lot of peaches? I'd love peaches. I was going to have a mic. Your mic, your peach, right? Move your thing. Pitches come from a can. They're put there by a man in a factory downtown.
Starting point is 01:42:24 Yeah, you got to, okay. Is it broken? It shorts in and out sometimes. It's fine. It's good enough. Well, yeah. No, it's not. Oh.
Starting point is 01:42:37 Now he's playing a game. See you, buddies.
