Starting point is 00:00:01 Hello, friends. Welcome to the show on a Thursday. Thursday. Is today Thursday? No, I said, it's Wednesday. It's Wednesday. It's Wednesday. Oh, okay. Good. And then I admitted to it. The only reason I know that is because I've got a number of things and I just knew everything happened on Thursday.
Starting point is 00:00:21 Stacked. Otherwise, yeah, I don't know. It's one of those days of the week of September. It is Barnburn. Welcome to the show, a presentation of Beth. three, six, five. It's the early bird specials, baby. No one takes care of you early.
Starting point is 00:00:37 Like bet three, six, five. It's the home winning early. Why wouldn't you, if they're going, if they are going to give you, you win before the game's even over, I say that's a heck of a deal. Take it. 18 or over in Alberta.
Starting point is 00:00:55 There would be a lot of teams that are on the road on a long road trip that if they got up by five and they could just say, can't just go now? Yeah, we'll just leave. That would be great. That would be great. Super chat, we are live. And as we're live, you put money in with your comment.
Starting point is 00:01:07 We'll put it on the show. And then the money goes to the U centers of Calgary, doing a good little bit of work over there. And in the McLeod Law, LLP studios, something happened outside. Are they putting, like, there's people up. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:23 We had a sign and they got taken down. Taking down. That sign was nothing. Very. Yeah, I don't know. Somebody bought the building is what, and then they wanted to paint it, I think. Yeah, they painted it, put in new doors.
Starting point is 00:01:39 I was thinking about it, there's a lot of shit that's gone on outside that window over the past four. Oh, yeah, if you had a camera, a time lapse thing. And about 20% of it necessary and improved at the end of the project. Crazy. Like, if you were just to go back and time, if you were to just time machine the whole thing and then just walk outside, I don't know that this is a whole lot worse than this.
Starting point is 00:02:03 This takes a month. This took five years for all this. Sidewalk and a street that's too narrow. And it's like, yeah, it's, it is where it is. McLeod Law, McLeod-Dashlaw.com. Good folks over at McLeod Law taking care of you, whatever it is that you need. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:02:22 We've even talked to some people. I don't know. Do you think I need a lawyer? Talk to them. They'll tell you whether it's, they will be very honest with it. Yeah, you should probably get a lawyer. Or, you know what?
Starting point is 00:02:32 This will probably take care. of itself. Even that, even that is legal assistance. Even if it's like, no, you don't really still get legal. If that is, that's a peace of mind. It is peace of mind. God, I love it. I love peace of mind. Yeah. Don't have it, but you would rarely have any of it. But I love it when I get it. That's why people drink, right? That's right. Speaking of drinking, Pinder out today. So, it's quite a run. This young lad, he's not that young, but maybe that's part of the problem. It's been on. He was sick. Then he pretended he wasn't sick.
Starting point is 00:03:05 Then he was still sick because he had a running nose on the show. It was terrible. I was sitting. I was like, Yeah. And then he went away because he wasn't sick and healthy enough to go do something really important, like breakaways. Then he was hung over.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Yeah. Then he traveled. Then he was terrible yesterday. And now he's sick. Yes. There was a company event in Toronto. And he flew out for it on Sunday. and then they did the thing on Monday.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Did you find out or a cut show? We can get to that. So he's unavailable for the show on Monday because they're doing a commercial shoot of some sort. And then on Tuesday, he was on the show from the brick wall and was no good. Hung to the tits. I mean, no, we may as well talk to the brick wall.
Starting point is 00:03:55 He got in the way. It would have been better to have the brick wall. Well, they were trying to show, if his, we said we didn't want him. And then he was there. Yeah. And it was like, oh, well, they want to show off the studio. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:07 We'd have been better just to have a picture. Yeah, we could have the brick wall. This is, oh, yeah. It's brick. Yeah. Yeah. Nice. And then yesterday he came on the show, uh, clearly still hung over and sick.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Um, I thought it was interesting because he, first he scolded you for not thinking that Sam Hansa could be good. And then when you thought, okay, well, Sam Hansa could be good. He scolded you for thinking that Sam Hansick could be good. Uh, that's the summary on that. And then today he is sweating and is sick. Can you, can you, Jack, find the end of the show yesterday?
Starting point is 00:04:41 It's funny you mentioned, Rhett. That is our, you blew it, our fail of the week. We talk about GamTech. You have an IT company. You need your computers. You need everything running smoothly. Because when things go sideways, you know, it can be debilitating to your company.
Starting point is 00:04:58 It's Gametech, Calgary business, taking care of many businesses across the country. an IT department for small and mid-sized businesses. Maybe you've got no IT person, maybe one person, but they're completely swamped. Security comes first, not as an upsell with Gamtec. Sock 2 certified, a certified B-Corp. And if you're losing hours to computers that don't work or you're one bad click away from being shut down for a week, that's the call to make. Go to Gametech, G-A-M-T-E-C-H.C-A for a no obligation quote.
Starting point is 00:05:28 So it's like you can't. Sometimes you have a failure. things just stop working that was uh this is our fail of the week please you can't drink and go to the rink and coach kids it's gonna be good that'll keep me out of the bars in the afternoon well yeah the poor fca all these broke i but my favorite rink is uh fc's great the one closest to me with the one with the sir and the shot jack how was the show today ryan ruined it see you buddies yeah that was the end of yesterday's show i got to admit your lens for telling when he's off is amazing oh you see it before anybody else and because then all kind of
Starting point is 00:06:16 oh yeah you do have a bit of a thing or your eyes are not quite right you nailed it early are you sick which should be a drop we should have i think that went back to last week too right yeah before he left you were like are you sick well he was sick for like 10 days and he doesn't stop, like maybe. Yeah, he and I were both sick at the same time. We did shows from home. And then it just kind of continued. Well, the thing about riot is, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:44 say you have, because I think a lot of people, flying to Toronto for a business meeting, events, and then flying back home. Thousands of people in Calgary do it probably every week. All the time. All the time. You can go and maybe while you're there, it's good to catch up.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Well, for dinner, have a couple of drinks. Or don't even. Yeah. That is not an option for him. Like, it never crosses his mind that we'll just go and sit down and have dinner. I'm going to have supper and I'm going to go home. Yeah. We don't need to eat.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Why are we eating when I've got mushrooms and a thousand beers? Like, we're going to absolutely floor it so that I can ruin the rest of my, it's when you get the substitute teacher when you're a kid. So he gets to leave his leave home. It's on. So yeah, well, if today's Thursday,
Starting point is 00:07:41 then tomorrow's Friday. He ain't after here tomorrow. Take the weather. Don't even think about it. And he can't do shows from home for some reason. This is a weird stipulation. We don't understand that. Jack,
Starting point is 00:07:51 you can, right? I can, yes. I know I can. I've done it from my effing truck. We figured it out over the years. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:07:58 somehow technology has, Daryl did it. Darrell went from home. Daryl did it. Yeah. Which maybe sounds like a shot to Big D, but it, no, it's just, it can be done. Gamtec, G-A-M-T-E-C-H dot CA for your no obligation quote. Yeah, he, there was some sweating apparently.
Starting point is 00:08:22 It's very sweaty. Well, it's good that he sneezed and coughed all over. Yeah. It's a game day for the Calgary Flames. the flames are in Seattle to take on the Cracken. What a star studded lineup. It feels like already I've had my feel of the Cracken. Like by the time tonight's done and that,
Starting point is 00:08:45 it's like, good for the Cracken for a bit, but we're going to get more of them, I think. Why? Are they early in the year? Yeah, they're real early in the year. Oh, great. Aren't they the first game? Yeah, that's right. So they're the last home opener game of the Dome?
Starting point is 00:09:03 Well thought out. week. Way to go. They're probably saying the same about the flames, to be fair. I don't know that they're jacked. Are the Canucks available if we're going to have to build this rivalry? Oh, hey, I'm with you. That this is taken on the flames.
Starting point is 00:09:18 But yeah, it's the Cracken. What was it, 3-1 was the score, whatever it was in that first game? Got to admit it was 3-1. It was 3-1. So the flames are going to play tonight, and then they play Edmonton on Saturday. and we know that that game is going to be all vets, much like the one the other night. So this is for some youngsters,
Starting point is 00:09:40 and we'll get into it in the Pinda report, some of the lines from practice yesterday. They'll be flying out. This will be a day of trip, I assume. They'll fly out and then come home. But it's going to be, you know, the last chance for the youngsters to try. There's no spots to be one.
Starting point is 00:09:57 I don't know. It's more just who's playing with whom. And I feel like Huska's got that kind of. figured out already too. Well, that's good because if there is a young guy that you hope to be good, you shouldn't. So that's my, that's my new approach to the,
Starting point is 00:10:12 to the team. I've been informed that, no, Gretton's surpassed everyone and it's the only one that you can talk positively about as far as young kids go and then kiss scenes per X ass and then every will be good. This is a pit. This is tongue and cheek pender stuff,
Starting point is 00:10:30 folks, if you're, if you're missing it. I do find it interesting and he's not here so he can't yell at us, but we can just have an adult conversation. He gets into the stats, which is great because I don't and I wouldn't. So this is a conversation we would not have without Ryan. They have one of the highest rated prospect forms. Well, I end up are none of them pushing to be part of the team and good?
Starting point is 00:10:58 I mean, I guess Reschney's is that why? because the two highest ones are Reshny and Carols and they're playing college? Well, yeah, I think that's the ones that you get. And again, and he'll talk about, you know, Potter and Reschney. Potter was, I know. There's a lot of, they've drafted a lot of players. Not all of them are going to hit.
Starting point is 00:11:18 And the thing with him is, in one breath, he'll tell you how past, if you're picking it 15 or 16. Terrible. You're terrible. What are you expecting to get there? And then in the next breath, they'll tell you, well, Potter's close and he was taken, what, 30 seconds. So I don't know.
Starting point is 00:11:30 it's it's whatever whatever he wants to do. So Potter's coming off a major injury and he's a little forward and that's not a very talented and fast. It's never been to an NHL camp even. Yeah. It depends. What do you think Hansick is going to be? Because he is here. If you've moved past Zeri, obviously Pospisal, we kind of know.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Pospisal is there are young. Yeah. There are guys that are going to turn into 30 goal guys. But the rest, I think, are, we're a year or two away from them being here. Not even making an impact, but, you know, Carl's and Reshny and whoever else. Okay. So that's fine. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:12 We were the ones calling for this for years. Yes. How do you stage in five kids under 20? Because is that what we're talking about? Like, I don't, I don't expect we are because I don't think Potter is going to make it. I don't know Whitonbach's going to make it next year. But if that's the cell feature, We got Carols and Roshney, who I think will be on the team opening day next year.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Yes. Yeah, I would say that. And is that, that's probably good enough. But if we're hoping to have a youth movement, where is it? But Hansik's 21 and he's going to make the team. And would you consider Nemitz at 22 still a kid? The two defensemen, I'm overlooking 100%. So yes, that's stupid on my part because Perak and Nemitz are both young guys.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Is it, yes. So if you're now talking, you're, you've now got potentially four guys in that 21 or under. So that's, yeah, I guess you'd have gridden. Gritter's in there. So now we're talking five. Carls. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Reshny. Yeah. So it's, it's just, maybe I'm not as it does. It's just real stacked up with average. Yeah. And maybe that's just has. Tats was. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Strom is in his last year. Frost is in his last year. Cyplikov. Do you trade share and go? It's frost on before the end of the year. The trades are only going to be made based on what they're getting in return. Right. I don't give a damn if you trade anyone if you're getting nothing,
Starting point is 00:13:50 but you should get something. You know what I mean? And you're not going to. I'm not going to say, well, I can't trade fairbie until I trade. No. Who am I getting the most for? Yeah. And there's no real urgency to do it either.
Starting point is 00:14:03 You don't need to trade Morgan Frost today to make room for Reschney next year. It's it is a weird way. It's a rebuild team and you would think because just because of how it is, training camp has, excuse me, has very little to no drama in it, which usually that's the mark and the calling card of a team. Well, you know what? We're underselling the defenseman because let's be honest, Maclin Celebrini, Conor Bedard, Conor McDavid,
Starting point is 00:14:33 forwards, 100 point guys. Well, we've got two defensemen that are supposed to be studs. Maybe we've got a Carlson and the Latang. Yeah, right? So we should be excited about that. That's what you should be focusing on. Some stranger. I was wearing that Calgary, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:49 the Calgary colors the hoodie yesterday on the show. And I went to, I bought a book yesterday. You don't say. Yeah, me and Jack went bookshop. And just the lady behind, she's like, oh, my, my, my kids went to the game. They're really excited about saying just, again, she doesn't know the frig. I am. She just saw the sweater.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Zane Perak, they said he was just amazing. So yeah, he is, he is going to be an exciting player to watch. It's going to be a player that we've never, not never. What was the last? This dynamic. Yes. I don't know. I remember when you and I went to, for some reason to a Montreal game, when
Starting point is 00:15:26 peak right yeah weren't you there or was i there alone it was pk suban uh very young in montreal and you're like holy shit yeah look at this guy because and i think perak is in that and i don't know the last time because dion was different dion was a fight hit and slap shot okay awesome this guy's going to be rag the puck yeah around the net around zoom zoom like high octane yeah like when's the last time there was a flames defenseman. It'd be Dion, but it's, like you say, it's a different, a different type that there's been this kind of excitement around. Because regir was shit.
Starting point is 00:16:04 We'll go to the guest hotline, a presentation. See, you get bad. You'll get mad. Well, you can't. Hey, Crystal Waters. Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating. Celebrating their 25th anniversary, locally owned family business.
Starting point is 00:16:24 Served over 40,000 Calgaryan homes. It's about being, you know what? people you can trust. People are coming into your home. You want people that are trustworthy and that are doing the best. And that's what Crystal Waters is all about. If anyone from Crystal Waters is listening my thermostat is not connecting to my furnace. Really? Yeah. So I'm going to need you to pop by. Thanks. For everyone else, you'll want to go to their website, crystal clearcalgary.com or phone. There you go. On the guest hotline for Crystal Waters, he's our buddies, Jamie McClutt. Hello, James. you watch your mouth about my friend Robin McGere
Starting point is 00:17:02 Rob Ray taught me this you love Rob Ray you got to keep people you don't want to he's got a big head in big ears but you don't want him get in a big head right you got to keep them in their lanes so that's all I'm doing he's a cup winner
Starting point is 00:17:21 he could have stayed longer in the NHL and he chose to retire and develop a company that blue line I think was really good company he sold. I mean, this guy's a smart guy and he's a great player. Yes, he's not as dynamic as Jordan Leopold. But, uh, you know, Zame Perak is dynamic. When's the last time the flames had a guy like Perak? That's not Regear's style, even. No, I know. And we're teasing. It's been a minute. I mean, you're right. Dion was a different style, right? Like flat out. Dion was a bull in a China shop. I remember telling a funny
Starting point is 00:17:59 story at Dion's charity. I emceited one year. And I forgot, you know, you're not supposed to swear at a special Olympics charity or something. I don't know why I swore, but it was stupid. I felt like George Costanza. But the story goes and it's the truth. When I remember, I came back to the flames and Dion played his 18 year old year,
Starting point is 00:18:23 so I played with him when he was 19. And I remember asking Iggy about Dion, like, what's, you know, what's this guy all about and Iggy's like, I can't describe him. He's like, you'll just, he goes, you'll just see. And I'm like, was he a good guy, is a bad guy? Is he an ass? He goes, he's not an ass, but he goes, he may act like one. And I said, well, what do you mean?
Starting point is 00:18:44 He goes, you'll just know, Jamie. So we were playing an exhibition game. Can't remember who, but I think we're winning like four one with a minute left. The game's over. And Dion knocks somebody right like Islanders, the bench. Yeah, it was Islanders. And out of nowhere, Dion decides to just knock a guy over the boards. And the game's over and then a big scrum and people have to fight and stuff.
Starting point is 00:19:09 And remember, Iggy's saying to me after the game, he's like, you see what I mean? Like, this guy is unpredictable like it was, you can't describe him. So he's so much different. Dion was so much different than Perrette. Because Perak is flat out skill, you know, rag the puck, just, you know, hold on, vision. you know, the little 10-2, like, you know, Brad Borenka used to skate like that, right? The 10 and 2, and, you know, I look at it,
Starting point is 00:19:34 but, you know, Dion was just a bull in the China shop. So different type of special, but certainly the word special comes with it. Well, we were just talking about, you know, we get the situation, we've been calling for this situation with the flames, who are the people that were going to be excited about? And because they're not forwards,
Starting point is 00:19:55 like celebrate, Breedy or Bedard, you're like, wow, geez, they're kind of thin here. How are we, how are we this thick into a rebuild? But there's no jobs to be wanted camp and there's no, well, Perak is, it's Barack and Nemich on the back end that are the big talent. And guess what? Carson Carles. Yes, but he might wear a jersey this year at the end of the year, maybe.
Starting point is 00:20:18 I think him and Reschney will both be here when North, you're calling it, I'm not. But what I'm saying is if they show up, you look at this team. I've been saying this and banging this drum. This team 18 months from now, it's built differently, but it's going to be special.
Starting point is 00:20:35 You're going to have arguably the best rink in the league. You know, I'm hearing, all I hear about it is amazing, amazing, amazing. I don't disagree with that. You got a goalie. Now, keep in mind that the goalie,
Starting point is 00:20:48 this is his first, I'm sorry, this is his third full year in the league. I played 17 games the one year up and down. but I'm calling it third full league year in the third full season in the national hockey league. Nailed it. Usually in your third year, that's when the light goes on. So I'm expecting big things from Dustin Wolf.
Starting point is 00:21:09 And it's not that Cooley can't push him and they can't battle for the net. But I just, I think there's a level that that Wolf can get to that the other guy can't. And that's just how special he is. So you got special in net. I think you've got an opportunity for a three spot of really good young defensemen with Nemish, Perrek into Carson Carls. And then who's the, who's four there?
Starting point is 00:21:37 Ball. Yeah. Like solid, solid player. Then you got the guy with the mustache who's going to protect them all. Jacob Middleton. Yes, exactly. Like to me, they're built differently,
Starting point is 00:21:50 but you've got an opportunity to be special. Now you need the grid in the, you know, the Coronado's just take another step. And then Connie with cap space and picks and prospects and all of that type of stuff can go to work and try and fill out his top end talent up front. And that's, you know, realistically, there's no secret there. I'm not, you know, given any state secrets. I think we all see the same thing. But there would be a ton of teams that would be dying to be built like that from the back end out. if guys project, you know, get what they project to be.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Yeah. If, because you've done it before, if you were running the, the goaltenders, a year like this for Calgary where it's not really about winning, it's about development, how would you split the workload? If both guys are healthy, do you want Wolf playing a ton? Because we talk about Perak, play them all the minutes to play the bag off. Would you pull back on Wolf a little bit? Would you play Cooley more?
Starting point is 00:22:48 How would you want, because like you say, it's about Wolf. What would you see as the best? development year for him. I think in today's world, keep in mind there's 84 games. So starters are now playing 55, 50 to 55 in that ring. There you go. I said it last week, too. I think that number is reasonable for all starters in the league.
Starting point is 00:23:14 What you do need now is a tandem or a guy who can absorb 30 games or 30 plus or whatever. And you really need three goalies that can play. because I said this and I've said it before. Last year, 98 goal tenders played in the league. Do the math. That's a minimum three per team. I look at all teams and they pretty much have a third guy that they would trust
Starting point is 00:23:36 who could be either up and down. Depends on how your team is built. So that would be the biggest challenge. We know that Wolf is their number one. They've committed to him financially. He is, I think, the guy with the most, the highest ceiling. So if he can get to 55 games, that's your progression. And he needs to do it year in and year out, 55, 55.
Starting point is 00:23:59 And maybe one year it's 58 or it's 60. If he's having a great year or maybe there's, he's a bit sore a couple weeks or whatever. And you pull him back and he only gets to 52. Either way, I think consistently he has to be a 50 plus game starter for your organization if you're heading the right direction. 100%. just to further on that, just because we're playing the what if game. If he's struggling this year, do you make him play more or less? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:24:30 No, I 100% I agree with you. I think you have to understand the situation and Ryan Huska. See, here's the thing. I would say less because Huska just wants to win. And if Kooley's pushing him, Kooley's playing that night. Because Ryan Huska's job is to produce wins. Yes, develop. everybody and all that. But I've said this before. I've never watched a Flames game under Ryan Huska as
Starting point is 00:24:56 the coach that cheated you for effort. They may not have won that night. They may not have had you. There was one of them. There was one game. I can't remember. It was in Vegas. Okay. Which is if you, it wasn't Utah. Utah of it. I had a top night at Vegas myself when I was a broadcaster and I smoked about five cigars. I gave the next night I was like it was like I was chewing on a cigar trying to talk. So, I mean, Vegas gets the best of everybody. But I will say this, that the cheat for effort and coming back to it, like Ryan Huska is going to try and win every night.
Starting point is 00:25:30 That's his job. And he's going to put in the net who he believes. But there also is a long plan, I would think, or not even a long plan, maybe a shorter term plan to get these guys to that next level. So I think the challenge is you give Dustin Wolf a longer leash. but if he continues to, if he struggles, you don't just go, oh, you're going back in the net
Starting point is 00:25:52 because you've got a long-term deal. I'm sorry. There has to be a healthy competition, and I think the kid has to have that internal drive to want to be better. And I said this. I did a segment the other day that I think Dustin Wolfe's going to have a great season.
Starting point is 00:26:08 And I said, he's a special player, and I was asked why. And I said, okay, well, let's take a look at his record in Everett. top goalie two years in a row, wins MVP of the league. Goes to the HL, top goalie, two years in a row, wins the MVP of the league. Comes to the NHL, his first season,
Starting point is 00:26:29 I think he had 29 wins, don't quote me, I think it was 29 wins, but all rookie team, hell of a, hell of a player, projection for him, every time we think this guy, ah, you know what, maybe too small, two this, this and that, all he does is prove people wrong.
Starting point is 00:26:44 And I think what you have to understand is he's a special player and a special goal tender. Last year, yes, there was, we'll call it a market reset. But that happens to everybody. So I think now the progression is like you plateaued a little bit last year. Now you've got to continue to push. And ice time will be dictated by, you know, his play, but he'll push himself to be there.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Put it that way. Would you care to wager a cheese toast on that? Yeah, well, I owe you two bad. Double or not. Okay, we'll throw a steak into the. this. I will double down and say that not only is Dustin Wolf going to have a great year, but he will play something at least with a five in it. So that's 50, whatever. Last year, yeah, last year 55 starts the year prior 53. His numbers dipped from, again,
Starting point is 00:27:33 2425 to last season. He went from a 2.64 goals against to a 3.01. And the save percentage went from a 910 to an 899. Now, again, it's a team that traded away Rasmus Anderson and McKenzie Uigh or, I mean, it was. Yeah, there was some, there were some moving parts. Not to take everything away from him, because he's still. I say he doesn't. You don't say, you say he doesn't what? Well, you're saying he's going to escalate and I don't think you're saying he's going
Starting point is 00:28:00 to win the Vesna, but every time he answers, I say, I say he's flat. Well, do you want to use that three? What's the bar though? I was going to say like this bar from last year. Like a three point zero, so three goals. I've been a no lose situation because I'm way ahead. in the game and you're a cheap bastard. But so, yeah, let's go with this year's,
Starting point is 00:28:19 this year's numbers. I messaged you and invited you out and you didn't come. So that was, that was, I don't know who wins on that. That, that should have brought us back to even. So anyways, I will, I will throw my cheese toast that I owe you. It's like, it's like Seinfeld when he pays up for the lunch. It's like, soup is not a meal. Well, technically, yes, exactly.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Banya. If I, if I offer to buy you, that is, did I buy you? even though I didn't. I'm just telling you, I will wager all the cheese toast at Caesar's steakhouse that they have, loaves and loaves of bread. So we're going to go at this year's numbers. He'll be better than last year's number.
Starting point is 00:28:57 He'll are going to have better numbers than last year. Yes, which, you know, I don't think is the worst thing in the world because he did have a down statistical year. If you asked me the year before numbers, that's having a great season. Keep in mind. Well, that's what we want him to get. to. But, but, like, what was it, Boomer? 908? Last year, two years ago, 2.64 and a 910. 910. 910 in today's world.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Those are, that's a high, high bar. Keep in mind, the league average was below 900 last year. Yeah. I mean, I was going to say. It was like 89. I believe at one point it was like 88.6 or 87, but the league has changed. Guys are not wasting shots. So this is the other thing that I, and you are getting now shot, that is quite consistent. It used to be, hey, Carolina is stingy with its shots. The Rangers and Pittsburgh are very generous. So, you know, Henrik Lundquist, a slap shot from Center Ice that's going into the corner. He goes out and puts his glove on it.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Hey, let's give him two shots for that one. Like, you know, certain buildings, now you don't see those rink effects anymore. So what I'm saying is nowadays, these guys are taught. So not just down the wall, they don't take the Mike Bossy shot anymore. They're looking for another option, another better option. So shot quality is up, shot volume is down from the traditional. Is shot ability better as well? I would think so.
Starting point is 00:30:28 Right? You're looking at players that we may be farther down in your lineup. They're still really good with the puck. Put it in the, yeah. Yeah, they still can hit the holes where, you know, the guys that I played, but there were some guys that if I left, Now, you're not beating anything past this year. This would catch everything.
Starting point is 00:30:48 But a person with regular ears, there's a hole there, you know? So that type of stuff. Come on, Yeller. Put it in. Exactly. So anyways, I do think he will have a better statistical year this year just based on my expectation for him. And that's good. And that's high.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Now, your son's a goalie. Does he have the same ear advantage? There is, I mean, there is no doubt that my son is my son. late. I heard his, how was the first game? He was good. Yeah, he played well.
Starting point is 00:31:22 How were you? I'm fine. I sit there with my headset on. Or do we need to ask his mom? Because I'm not a ball of nerves. Like I just sit there. I hope that he has fun and that he's fine. And like they've got a tournament.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Can you imagine they've got a tournament? You've got to pull him out of school tomorrow. Two games tomorrow, two games Saturday, two games Sunday. Like it's, you can go to school. Nothing, man. It'll still start on. Thursday when you get a little older. It's go to Monday.
Starting point is 00:31:48 But the thing is, is I just sit there and listen to music or talk to people on the phone and that the parents, a lot of them line around the glass and they're just intense and you can see their face. And I kind of just kind of like, oh, my God. I was sent, nine. I was during, during tryouts this year, I was sent a chart with players and rankings in last season's stats. It was a breakdown of where and what game notes. It was phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:32:19 You know what? At some point, like this is the thing in the ignorance of us when we were younger. I don't know how much politics was involved in minor hockey when we were growing up. I'm assuming there was, but it might just not have been in our face because we were kids and just cared about if we're going to have ice cream on the way home or can we stop at McDonald's or whatever. But like the intensity and,
Starting point is 00:32:42 and the things surrounding, you know, youth hockey, they need to dial it back a little bit just so that people can, like I always try and remind people, like you ask, oh, how's, how's your sign? I'm like, he's nine, you know, like he's still, still there's times where he's afraid of the dark here. Like, you know, like, if the wrong show is on the tube, he ain't sleeping tonight.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Yeah, like, I'm just like, you know, breathe people, breathe. What I like about that, though, is you have that goalie mentality. Clearly, you played because as a parent, when your kids, whatever, a skater, okay, now they're on the ice, so you kind of, okay, now it ratchets up. Now they got to, oh, yeah, so when your kid's the goalie, it's just a constant roller coaster.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Oh, here, okay, get bad, you're getting mad at the D. You're getting mad at the D's parents. Like, did you not get your kid like power skating drills? What hell? Your kid's making my kid look bad. That's right. There was one the other day that there was a bad line change. And it was like, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:41 and my my wife was like, how did that goal develop? I'm like, you don't want to know. And he's like, well, I just, there was no player there. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:33:49 yeah, it was a line change. And like, and nowadays you can go back on these like live barn and. Oh, I was going to tell you, send us the link to your kids games
Starting point is 00:33:57 because I guarantee it's on YouTube. But it will start evaluating. No chance. I'm, I just sit there. Honestly, I, I just,
Starting point is 00:34:04 you know, my biggest thing is I'm happy is that these kids are just enjoying themselves. Like, I, I, I, I try to put myself in the room with these kids and just go, like, what are they enjoying?
Starting point is 00:34:18 They're laughing it up and throwing the balls and they're doing a warm up together and stuff like that. Like, I miss that. But people ask me, what do you miss about playing either in the NHL playing? I miss the dressing room. I don't miss being sore. You know, I miss, yes, we miss the paychecks, all of that type of stuff. Some of the things that come with it. But the minor hockey, there's still this innocence.
Starting point is 00:34:41 from these kids. It's like, I don't want to take that away from them. I just want them to have fun. And, but I also, this is a weird thing for me to say, I don't think it's bad for them to lose
Starting point is 00:34:52 and to have rough games and to have adversity. Like I, I don't never want to see anybody get injured. That's injuries are different things. But adversity like, adversity for today's kids is underrated. They don't have adversity. But I,
Starting point is 00:35:07 I think it's good. I think it's good because, I want them to feel the emotions of, hey, this is where I am and this is where I am. I don't know if I told you. My son last year was in a tournament, and he got, like, he played really well. Like, they played like four or five games.
Starting point is 00:35:26 So the morning game, they, they were like hemmed in their own zone. And they should have lost like 10-0, and they won, like, I think 3-1 or something. And my son was like on top of the world. And everybody, one MVP of the game or whatever. I was happy for him. And then that afternoon he got dummied and gave up like an eight, eight or nine spot. And I, and you could see his body language. And I went
Starting point is 00:35:52 into the room and you know, they have those bricks that are painted or whatever. And I just said to him, I said, you see that line? And he, he was like, well, what do he mean? And I said, well, that line right here, I said, this morning, you were way up here. Because you, you felt great about your game. And I said, where are you right now? And he pointed below the line. And I said, understand this. If you can live on that line, good or bad, I said, you've got, you're on to something. Like I said, because don't live the, you know, I said, don't let the highs and the lows like dictate the way that you feel. I said, as long as you worked hard and you had fun, leave it at that. So the next day, they lost like five, three. And I walked in and he like pointed to the line. I was like, you know, like, so it was a good thing.
Starting point is 00:36:37 And I can't profess that that wasn't a lesson that I like came up with. I remember Pierre Turgeon. I played with Pierre in New York and I played with him in St. Louis. He used to tell me about this line that he had. He wanted to stay on this line, his whole life, either, you know, emotionally or financially, all these types of things. He said, like, you know, live within this line. He said, don't get too high.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Don't get too low. And it was great advice from the guy that I still consider a friend. and, you know, I love Pierre, he's just a quality human. And, you know, I remember thinking to my son, he was so rattled about giving up a bunch of goals. I'm like, get used to it, kid, you know, like you're a McLennan. But anyways, I mean, that's the type of stuff. I don't know how this is going to unfold. But, you know, when you look at it, I, this is the exciting part about, and watching that game the other night, this, this Porek kid, doing the 10 and 2, walking the line.
Starting point is 00:37:38 Like it was a special night. And I know you're going, okay, it's against scrub squads. Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. It's nice to see confidence and flash and dash from somebody that is, could be a shining, a shining toy or a shining light for your organization. So the fan base should get excited. They should go.
Starting point is 00:37:58 Now, the biggest thing for Perak is to understand, you can't do that every night. You can't, every shift, you can't, you still have to find your space. find what works for you in every situation. And that just comes with experience. He's, you know, next game he might be dancing out there and somebody pokes it away and they go the other way on a breakway.
Starting point is 00:38:19 And you're like, oh, that worked two games ago. Well, it may not have worked. Now you're going to get scouted a lot too. Keep in mind, this guy's going to play some big minutes
Starting point is 00:38:27 against some big players. So it's going to be a challenge for him. That's where the fans need to find a line. You know, don't get to, because there's going to be some nights. You just got to. Fans are allowed.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Fans don't. you don't want fans to be like this. You want fans here and here and that. That's the beauty of being a fan. I'm just talking behind the scenes and how you can keep somebody grounded or at least focus on the task at hand. Fans, the beauty of being a fan
Starting point is 00:38:56 is living every moment, the highs and the lowest. That's what makes it special to love your team. Are you a fan of the four-game exhibitions or exhibition schedule? or is it too tight for the young guys? Too tight. So I did last...
Starting point is 00:39:12 It's good for the bets. You know what it is? It's good and bad for the vets. I'll give you an example. So I did the split squad game for Toronto, Ottawa last night. And Toronto sent their HL team up. And it's funny, Ottawa sat a bunch of, like Thomas Shabbat had, I believe his wife had a baby. So he didn't play the...
Starting point is 00:39:33 Jake Sanderson sat out, didn't play either game. Same thing with Jordan Spence. So they had a few. guys. So they didn't really send full squads on either side. I remember I was talking to Travis Green and he's like it's tough to like they want to get going like they start next week. You want to get going. But you can't get your numbers down in camp because you got you got split squad game. And they've got a split squad game again this weekend. So it's he said, I'm not worried about certain guys because they're just up to they're always in great shape and up to pace. But he goes,
Starting point is 00:40:03 you worry about being together right away if there's new faces. And secondly, Yeah, I had a management person call me yesterday and say he's worried about health. Because guys, it's like jumping on a moving train. It's like pace, pace, pace, pace right now. I would like to see six games, not four, six, but not 10 or 12, six where you can have a few young guys. And if there, maybe there's a chance for one guy to make your team. Nowadays, like PTOs are, you know, there's always that training camp surprise where somebody's like, oh, he's taking a bigger step than we thought.
Starting point is 00:40:38 We're not going to be able to do that early on. What all those young guys can hope for is to be the first call-up. Because the team seems to be already set for most organizations, and they may have a spot for one guy because of an injury or somebody who, you know, doesn't look right in training camp, something. I think there's a sweet spot. But like it was said to me yesterday, 84 games, you add another six in there plus playoffs.
Starting point is 00:41:04 Like it's just, all it is is games, games, games. So they'd rather, I think they're going to work out the kink starting. in regular season. So we might see some ugly hockey in the first five to 10 games until people get their systems going. I'll love to ask you, the Florida Panthers, and I guess initially I was
Starting point is 00:41:20 just thinking about Brady and you're with the senators and I was just wondering what the tone is around the team with now him in Florida, but also to Florida. Whereas they brought in Brady and Matthew's going to be healthy and Barkov and they don't have all this. They're rested. The one thing to me
Starting point is 00:41:36 that's curious is they have a different goal for the first time through this run, this dynastic run, if you want to call it that. We're familiar with Jacob Markstrom. We know how we feel about him here. How well equipped is Jacob Markstrom to just pick up where Bobrovsky left off as opposed to the guy that we saw here near the end in Calgary and through his stay in New Jersey? Well, yeah, near the end in Calgary and through his stay in New Jersey, it was very inconsistent, right?
Starting point is 00:42:04 He couldn't find the line. Yeah. You're right. Very up and down. and it's a great point. But the one thing that I would say about Florida, maybe a little bit different than Jersey and different than the end in Calgary,
Starting point is 00:42:17 Florida doesn't rely on their goaltender that much. So if you look at them analytically, statistically, all of that type of stuff, they play a certain way. So they need their goaltenders to be, I would call it, and this is awful to say, but if you're league average, just give me league average.
Starting point is 00:42:35 And I think Florida is good enough, It's like this is what we need. Just stable goaltending. We need somebody to not lose us games. You don't have to win us games, but don't lose us games. And I think that's what Jacob Markstrom has been identified as a guy. You know, familiar is drafted there. He's a big goaltender.
Starting point is 00:42:54 I think the way they defend, you know, suits well for big goaltenders with a good butterfly. I think you'll be fine. I don't know Schmead that well. I've seen good, see him play good games and I'm seeing him play some really poor games. So, you know, there would be a slight question mark because is it a drop off from Bobrowski on paper? Yes, because Bobrovsky's won two Veznas and two cups. But I look at it if somehow, and again, this is giant if, if somehow you get some of that Markstrom from Calgary in those first couple years and from Vancouver where he was the MVP,
Starting point is 00:43:31 like there's a good goalie in there. And I just think he has to just give them solid goal tend to. doesn't have to steal games, and he'd be capable of doing that. And I think that's where they're banking on is we just need a big goaltender who's familiar with the guys and can make some saves. And I think he can deliver that. So I look at it. They're not a team like, you know, like Stroke, and I think the Islanders rely on their
Starting point is 00:43:55 goaltender quite a bit. And you know what, to your point, I think New Jersey thought that's what they were getting. I think they thought they were getting a goalie that was going to be a difference maker for them or he wasn't going to be, of course, don't cost us, but you need to win of some games and he wasn't that. Yeah. No, I watched him in Ottawa one night steal a game and I thought he was brilliant, but I had talked to him before the game, literally. And I asked him and he said, it's just been an up and down. He goes, I haven't been healthy. He goes, it's, you know, he was very
Starting point is 00:44:22 honest with me. I'm a big, I'm a big Jacob fan as a human. And I like him as a goaltender, but it has been a couple years since you've seen, like, to your point, Rhett, that line. You had that tendency to let in the first shot or a goal in the first minute to 90 seconds. He started his career like that. I remember Rob Talas' goalie coach. He's like, if this guy can get past the first shot or first or second shot, he's like he's a rock star. But I'm like, it was a stat.
Starting point is 00:44:49 It was like eight of his first 10 NHL games. It was like first shot. I lit that Talas up first NHL goal, Boston. Bam! Suck it, Talas. He's a hell of a goalie coach. I don't know. Maybe you scarred him.
Starting point is 00:45:02 Maybe you upset him. I love Robbie Talas. He's been a mainstay there through a lot of regime chance. changes. And they've got, you know, with Louis, Roberto Luongo and his brother Leo there, they've got that goaltender development program. They've done a very good job. They find goaltenders. That's why I was interesting to see. They went with Teresoff last year, let him walk so maybe they didn't get what they wanted out of him. Two new goaltenders. They let Stolars walk the year before. Maybe, you know, you look at it, you've got to look at
Starting point is 00:45:30 it financially. But now you've got two new goaltenders again this year. We'll see if they can stabilize and just give them the type of goaltending that that organized. needs. So what kind of discount are you getting? For what? Well, the Leo and Louis goaltending development program. Like your kid's definitely going to that. He's part of that.
Starting point is 00:45:50 Absolutely. Look at you. You can't even, you know. It's not even. What are you talking about the development? Send your kid down there. Get him going. You've got to take this more serious. No. That's the thing. He's nine. Kids are nine. Let them be fine.
Starting point is 00:46:03 Now's the time to ramp it up. Give him to Louis. live at Louis's house. He'll get lots of pasta, good feeds. Let's go. No way. Leo Luongo's brother is awesome. They're, they're great goalie coaches and great goalie minds. You know what? There's lots everywhere. I think the bottom line is it's not like, it's not like goalies growing trees either. Not everybody wants to be a goaltender. You know, the sane ones come out of it. I think it's interesting in a more serious tone where it's like in the NFL, the biggest
Starting point is 00:46:37 money producer like just an absolute rock star of a why can't they find enough quarterbacks for the like why isn't everybody's a quarterback that can do it and in the NHL if you want to lock it in and play for 20 years and be a goalie yeah but here here's the thing red the goaltending position and now it's been proven with analytics it's so volatile year to year with the chances they give up and how the game is so fast. And now you're seeing, I'll give you a prime example. Mikey DiPietro looks like he'll be a goaltender for the Boston Bruins this year. What is he, 27, 26?
Starting point is 00:47:18 Really? Like Vancouver drafted him. Played in the world juniors, smaller stature gold tender, but has all the skill in the world. It took him a while to go through the process to grow up. Logan Thompson, you know, Charlie Lingren. Like there's Aden Hill. There's a lot of these goaltenders that slip through the cracks that are pretty good
Starting point is 00:47:41 goaltenders now, but they weren't at, you know, according to everybody at 21. What they're supposed to be. Everybody says you should be this and that and all. Yeah. But keep in mind when I'm not lying, when they say goaltender, a lot is between the years, it's physically and mentally being mature enough to handle the duress of playing every night, the pressure, the physicality of it. So it takes a long time to get to be a good goaltender.
Starting point is 00:48:11 And teams nowadays, if you draft a guy at 18, you might be in the third contract by the times the goal is good. So ask yourself, if you drafted Dustin Wolf at a very high pit, let's just say he was a first rounder because he'd won everywhere and all that. And it took him to become really good at when he was 27. Wouldn't you be going, what the hell's wrong with this guy? Why? Why?
Starting point is 00:48:35 You might have he moved on from him. Exactly. He's probably with a different organization. So what the challenge is now for organizations, and I know Jordan Sigelette is a really good goaltender mind, so the flames are lucky to have him. And Jason LaBarbara, same thing. They've got really good goaltending eyes in the organization. But the challenge is to find, find me the Jordan Bennington, the guy who can win you a cup,
Starting point is 00:48:59 who was fifth in the depth chart for the St. Louis Blues in January that year. brought him up. Like find a guy who is now maybe slid through the cracks, but matures to get better. Tim Thomas got good at 29. Even how do I word the question? So you're not great at 21, but you don't want to throw in a towel.
Starting point is 00:49:23 You're talented, but you're not, you're not in the NHL. You're going to have to grind. Where do you go to get, you got to get enough games? How do you work on a development if you can't find a place, right? Like that's part of it as well as being given the opportunity you get in the net. Well, what you need is an organization that believes in you.
Starting point is 00:49:41 And if they don't and you get flushed out, what happens is if I'm an organization, that's where you spend money on goaltending scouting and finding, you know, nowadays nobody's hiding. But if their trade comes up and you've got, you think there's a good goaltender that's hidden somewhere, Devin Levi might comes to mind. maybe Evanton's got themselves a goalie, maybe not. But like, I liked Levi early on. He's a great example.
Starting point is 00:50:11 And I'm not trying to cut you off, but I was in Buffalo when it happened. And they were like, this is our guy. We've anointed him before he even barely signed in any, and he was going to be it. And it was like, holy shit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:22 And then what happens is, oh, he's got to learn. He's got to develop. He's got a mature mentor. We don't have time for this. We need to win. We need this guy yesterday.
Starting point is 00:50:32 So it's on to you. It's on to Lyon and now it's Golden Ellis and you get pushed down because it might, your projection, you know, your progression might take a little longer than others. So other organizations are like, same thing, Detroit. Detroit goes and gets Gibson and Talbot, the two oldest goaltenders in the league last year as a tandem. They got COSA sitting there. And instead, they have a check that pushes past COSA in Grand Rapids. All of a sudden, Utah puts up their hand and go, we like this COSA kid.
Starting point is 00:51:02 Let's trade for him. So, you know. It would be amazing if you went through and you'd know it probably off your head. How many good goaltenders aren't where they, because the team gave up. Yes. And other teams are like, oh, you developed this guy? Well, send him over here. We'll take them.
Starting point is 00:51:19 Yeah. Like I live in Toronto. They still talk about Tuka Rask. Now, that was a trade. And I believe the, the Leafs chose Justin Poggi over Tukorask. But at the end of the day, you know, there's, there's. They're star goaltenders that weren't just drafted and developed by their organization. Vasilevsky was a star goaltender drafted and developed.
Starting point is 00:51:40 They had Ben Bishop there, help him out, and then they pushed Bishop out, Vasi, you're off to the races. I think Montreal is in really good shape because they have Montembo there who might have a bounce back year. You got Dobish is 24 and you got this Jacob Fowler kid at 21 who they put in the minors this year. So you can help them develop. But like at some point, you have to.
Starting point is 00:52:02 clear a pathway for them to either arrive or you move past him. And that's the biggest challenge. So we are seeing goaltenders get better, 26, 27, 28. You know, hell, Peca René won a Vesna at 36 years old. Mark Andre Fleury. Tim Thomas. Timmy Thomas was, had arguably one of the greatest 18 months spans out of all goaltenders where you had a cup and a Vesda.
Starting point is 00:52:27 Who was a Jim Carrey back in the day and blue? The hockey news can't find that. guy right now. Jim Carrey, I played with him in St. Louis. We brought him in when Fierzy got hurt, and it was like he had forgot how to play goal. And I love the guy. But this guy hit, hit the ground running in the NHL. I think he was rookie the year and made one, the Vesner something, and then it was drop off right after that. So there's one year sensations, and then there's guys that progression just gets better and better. I keep an eye on that Walsstead kid in Minnesota. I think he's really good.
Starting point is 00:53:05 It's good that Ottawa got rid of him. No, that's Gustafin. But Gustafin's good too. Like they've got, they got a two pack there that is pretty damn good. Yeah, Ottawa could have probably used them. They had to trade for Allmark to replace that spot, right? So, there's what it is. Well, we appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:53:24 Another cheese toast bet. Yeah. It's going to take a while. We've got to wait all year. I'm sure it'll come up only every time we talk to you, but nonetheless, good to, good luck in the tournament. Thanks, guys. There he goes.
Starting point is 00:53:39 Jamie McCladden, joining us on the guest hotline of presentation of Crystal Waters plumbing and heating. Is your hot water tank keeping up? Have you noticed everybody's showering in the morning? You've got school. You've got kids and then somebody's like, why is there cold? What's with the cold water? I don't want the cold tub, dad.
Starting point is 00:53:55 Switch from your old hot water tank to unlimited hot water with a tankless water heater and save big with Crystal Waters. I don't think that's a terrible idea. I love a long hot shower deal. Yeah. Yeah. I don't need to know what you're doing there. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:54:11 Crystal Waters public. A crystal clear Calgary. Dot com is the website. He would be on the phone. His kid's in net in the middle of a game. He'd be talked about a coursey rating. I have it on good authority that he's a little more emotional than he. Of course he is.
Starting point is 00:54:32 Of course he is. If you're a hockey or a goalie parent specifically, it's not a great experience. It's nerve rack. Yeah. When the game's over and they win, you're like, well, heck God, my kid didn't cost everybody the game. My kid's not that good and we made it through.
Starting point is 00:54:50 Okay. Good Lord. And then there's some games where your kid does and all the parents' eyeballs are, I said, see on Tuesday. Yeah, okay, thanks. We bottle drive is that. happening still did him yeah yeah it's not great not great crowfoot dodge crowfoot dodge crieser dot com 20 crowfoot rise in the northwest one of the newcomers to the capital automotive group same great energy same great northwest location crowfoot

Starting point is 00:55:45 Crowfoot rise in the northwest. Yeah, goalie parents, until your kid does it for any amount of time, you do have some sympathy for them. Most people do, but some people are, yeah, jerks. it's like where's where's so-and-so's mom or dad
Starting point is 00:56:04 oh they're over yeah just don't go just let them be let them do their thing uh sometimes it comes down to parenting to begin with the fact that you let them play go always maybe yeah I wonder for all the hockey and sporting associations because probably by now tryouts are done
Starting point is 00:56:25 they are everybody's got a team and all that I wonder how long it'll take for all the associations to work through their complaint letters and in-person meetings with the parents. I pray to the good Lord of a book that Pinder takes the div to head coaching position and has to deal with a bunch of deep bag. I hope they freak out,
Starting point is 00:56:49 and I hope they're emailing, and I hope they, I want trouble in his life. Stress him out. Does that mean? it's not kind. I don't know if it's mean. It's got a certain feel to it for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:07 Maybe I went too far. Use the 24 hour rule and go through the manager and just he's, he's a parent too. You know, he's got kids. Oh, it would be so hard. He would be opinionated.
Starting point is 00:57:18 He did. He did. I did like that. It was near the end of the show yesterday, how he kind of let us know that people were begging him. Oh, yeah. Like I think people were phoning and just like,
Starting point is 00:57:27 wanting me to take this coaching job. That just. means nobody else wants it, right? Not that you're good. Well, also, he's had opinions on other coaches. He's clearly the man for the job because now. If you ask him, the buck stops here. How many people are we using on the power play?
Starting point is 00:57:43 Are we using forward? It's got a lot of opinions. It's a lot of opinions. Adrenaline source for sports coming up at the end of the month. We're basically right there. Starting point is 00:59:30 Northland Mall, a cloud trail in the south, and of course, the smaller, just the little hub there in the Flames community arenas, Pinder's favorite ring. Pinder's favorite ring.
Starting point is 00:59:40 No question about it. Speaking of which, we will get into the Pinder report, which is a presentation of Village Honda. Did you want to say home? I heard you take a breath. Well,
Starting point is 00:59:50 I can wait for you to go. I find it interesting. I was just wondering your thoughts on this would be like he's not afraid to barge in on unwanted yeah on our when he's not supposed to be here perhaps we should phone him and say hey it's time for the pinda report yeah we're ready yeah go ahead have adder kit nail it probably not appreciated he did send a note with some oh good yeah which by the time he says that's care i don't i don't i don't question that at all yeah he cares and we care about
Starting point is 01:00:31 vote him clearly. Let's go. It's time for the Pindraport for Village Honda. Look for that giant Canadian flag. Online VillageHonda.com. It's a game day, Flames Nation, the website, Ryan Pike. What does Pike like more than anything else?
Starting point is 01:00:47 This brand new building. He is all over it. Street level look at construction progress. Looks pretty good, doesn't it? I've not been down there, so. Yeah, he has been very diligent with updates and well he's like a stanza as well he's an architect
Starting point is 01:01:05 he yeah he really is and there you see at the bottom 18 year old flames prospect chase harrington will play Thursday against seattle now harrington was a most recent draft second rounder out of spokane while the other either
Starting point is 01:01:21 some didn't come but they'd go to college they go back to junior he was still hanging around hanging around they like this guy and he is going to get a taste that would be incredibly exciting oh for an 18 year year old now it's not for regular season all that but you're getting on a charter plane flying to seattle playing in that building with the flames jersey on your name on the back pretty decent for an 18 year old kid that's kind of a neat story love that love it for him i mean it doesn't really do me any
Starting point is 01:01:51 no it's good my life won't and it's i like it because it's his name that we haven't discussed yeah where was he on the flames a prospect i don't know that we wrenched yeah like I wouldn't because I don't research it. It's whoever you read, whatever people's opinion, he was 36th overall in, in round two of the 2026th draft. And what I just remember hearing is that, oh, that's an okay pick. He's, he runs around, he's a big hitter, he's physical. Give us a stat. He's rambunctious.
Starting point is 01:02:23 What will he, you know, translate to be? He remains to be seen in 61 games with Spokane last year, 28 goals, 57 points. Any PIMs? 105. That's good. And that 100 pimms is heavy in nowadays. And I don't know that that's necessarily. But it means you're involved physically. Yeah. I think it's more to do with how physically is. Yeah. Can't read that. Uh, six foot, six foot two o one. Yeah. Not overly. Just kind of is what he is, but he's going to get in to the mat to the, uh, to the game tonight. We can take a look at what we saw at practice yesterday as far as the line combos for the Calgary
Starting point is 01:02:59 flames. Uh, again, this is, we expect in the final preseason tune up it's going to be Sunni Jonesy Stroms yeah Mortz Oats Sorry grosser So there you see Harrington On that fourth line with Gross and Basha Dryden Hunt Castania
Starting point is 01:03:23 Brennan Othman Alex Neelander is here on a PTO You would assume This is okay well Do I go to the Wranglers I don't know how that's going to how else that's going to play out. Soonie have has scored in the rookie, the rookie matchup and the preseason game that he was in,
Starting point is 01:03:41 he'll go again and a guy that we've talked a lot about, Hunter Bristavich will play with Joel Hanley. There's eight defensemen. They're not taking 80. No, no. I assume he will go on this one. Flames, well, you know what, Flames made a couple moves yesterday.
Starting point is 01:03:57 You see their weeb on the back end. Abram Weeb and Center Luke Philp, were jettisoned to the Wranglers. They now have 43 players in camp, four goalies, 13D, 26 forwards, mainly vets on Saturday, so this will be it. There will be a swath of moves made
Starting point is 01:04:17 at the end of this game, I would assume, or at least in the next couple days. Bye tomorrow. There you go. Anything you're looking for in this matchup tonight against Seattle? Are you, uh,
Starting point is 01:04:29 it would be nice to see, some spirited play. How's that? Sure. And I think you will. You'll get it out of those young boys. Seattle, for what it's worth, they made some, they made a big round of their cuts. They're getting down the numbers. Again, it's 23 for everybody by Monday afternoon. They are expected. Again, it's just what you're reading online, but you would expect they're going to go with much like their opening night roster. It's going to be, going to be veterans. There you see it.
Starting point is 01:05:02 What is Maddie Baneers? He is, again, we get used to these numbers. Oh, he's a big number, seven, what's seven million anymore? Chandler-Stevenson, 625, not a bad deal, all of a sudden for your second line. Second line center. Shane Wright, what are you? Right wing, not a center, maybe a center. Ebs.
Starting point is 01:05:25 Sammy, or Mackie Sammaskevich, he was involved in the trade with Florida that freed up a first-round pick. that they then Florida spent to get Brady Kachuk. So he is new on the scene. McCann and McMahon on the left side, Capicoke. What would you do? Canner. Yeah. Canner.
Starting point is 01:05:44 Man, cans. Two can. Can. Yeah. Sam. Something. Sorry. That's your Seattle Crackin.
Starting point is 01:05:54 And yes, you do get a good, healthy dose of the Cracken because they've already played them. If you recall, they played once. Sorry, there's the back end. it's done joey decord grubauer net was grubauer going much what half of the way in the game that they played last week or whenever it was anyway uh so it's the crackin tonight and then the crack in a week from tonight in the season opener and then the crackin again in game three okay ah get it out of the way hey dean and then the crackin again on the 30th so three three regular season matches against Seattle in the month of October. And all honestly, that's not the best. You'd rather that later in the season because it's an easy travel. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:44 When the weather's no, no, Boino. Pender's not being able to S talk to Seattle Crackett as much as last year because the $7 million from Montour is nothing. Yeah. A lot of those contracts that were egregious, not too bad. Good piece of business there. Good piece of business. that's the flame story
Starting point is 01:07:04 the NHL announced today that the Winnipeg Jets now were you familiar Jack there was the Winnipeg Jets and then there was the Winnipeg Jets okay two different things two different teams yeah do you know where I'm going yet with this no continue the Winnipeg Jets were in the National Hockey League well first they were in the WHA
Starting point is 01:07:25 and then they came to the NHL and then after a stay in Winnipeg they moved to Phoenix and became the Phoenix coyotes. They became the Arizona coyote. And now they're the... They're now the Utah mammoth. In that whole span, Winnipeg got another team. They were at the Atlanta Thrashers.
Starting point is 01:07:45 And then they moved to Winnipeg. So the Jets were in Phoenix, but then the Jets showed up in Winnipeg again because they were thrashers in it. You can see how this gets convoluted and you can get easy to get... What was Dale Howard, Chuck, a thrasher? No, he was a coyote?
Starting point is 01:07:58 Well, no, it's... The NHL and Hull and HAL and... today that the statistical history of the Winnipeg Jets will now include both iterations of the franchise. I love it. The Jets history will encompass their first into Winnipeg from 79 to 96 as well as their years in Atlanta
Starting point is 01:08:12 from 99 to 2011 and their seasons in Winnipeg since 2011 and 12. The statistical history of the inactive Coyotes franchise only will encompass its years in Arizona from 96 to 24 and therefore will not be included in Jets
Starting point is 01:08:28 history. So like they move from Winnipeg to Arizona. Jeremy Roanick showed up. It's its own thing. But like Jeremy Roanick never played in Winnipeg. Well, is he part of the, no, no. He's part of the coyotes and coyotes only. So now the Jets they're all back together. That's a big relief because this speaks to what we discussed with
Starting point is 01:08:45 our fantasy football. The history. We've got to have the history of the league. Yeah. The franchises. Got to know if Dean's team ever won. Who won last year? Who won in 2012? Oh, God. There's Yahoo. The consolidation of the Jets history results in some changes to several franchise records,
Starting point is 01:09:06 including new all-time leaders in goals. No longer is it Mark Schifley or whatever. It's Dale Howard Chuck. Good. Ducks. Assists. Thomas Steen points. Dale Howard, Jack.
Starting point is 01:09:20 Mark Schifley was previously the franchise leader. And second in assists, he can pass all three of those in 2016. It's a much better accomplishment. he is past howard chuck that's saying something jack Dale howard chuck awesome awesome human great guy ability awesome awesome play talent Howard chuck had 3759 goals as a jet
Starting point is 01:09:44 Shifley has 3 72 so he's just seven away there I think he'll catch him gene he'll catch him and how I'll catch him yeah small town side of him mom knows the highway Howard Chuck 929 points Shafley at 907. So he'll catch him.
Starting point is 01:10:04 Fairly quickly. It makes sense. Yeah, fairly quickly. Some CFL news. You never know. He might ask for a trade. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:10:14 It seems to be what you do. The Canadian Football League. Lots of rumors and stuff going on. Maybe, just maybe closer to expanding into Quebec City. I'm in. Huh? I'll be the people.
Starting point is 01:10:28 President. Do it. TVA's Stefan Turcott reported that a potential franchise owner received unanimous conditional approval from the league's board of governors earlier this month. The would-be owner is William Trudell, a former police officer turned real estate developer who was believed to have been meeting with the league since not long after Stuart Johnson became commissioner in 2025. The TVA report is believed to be accurate, according to CFL sources.
Starting point is 01:10:54 I'm only giggling because he said Trudell, who was a cop. then he went into real estate. I'm glad he realized that one path might be more lucrative than the other. It is believed that a franchise fee would be in the neighborhood of $25 million. There would be some local and financial, local and provincial financial support necessary, which is believed that could be there. Trudell wants to build a $350 million multi-use stadium for, its home.
Starting point is 01:11:31 And speculated tellem stadium on the campus of LaValle could be temporary. So I don't know. We keep hearing about Halifax. The Maritimers, they're going to get an expansion team. Maybe Quebec's first. Those maritimeers, they can't get off their ass to get it done. Let's go. Well, that way of life.
Starting point is 01:11:47 I would love it. I think I could live there. It's kind of easy going here. No rush. Just take it easy, bud. Rum, yeah. Eyes to buy. Great Cup is going to be held in our city. Right here. Right here.
Starting point is 01:11:59 Two months? We're getting on it. Yeah. We're very close. And some, some entertainment news was announced this morning. As country star Riley Green, we'll be the headliner of the halftime show of Grey Cup 113.
Starting point is 01:12:16 He is, he's a hunk. He's a hunky gin. Oh, is he? Yeah. He's a dream boat. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:12:23 Yeah. Yeah. Good for him. He's, he's fit and he is, he's got a mustache. I was going to say, Does it look like big, is that strumming the guitar?
Starting point is 01:12:31 Yeah, he's a very fit person. He's, he's very tall, and he's got mustache and white teeth. He's very pretty. And he plays a guitar. He plays a guitar, which elevates you immediately. Yeah. That's a big name. Make no mistake about it.
Starting point is 01:12:46 And again, a Pinder. He doesn't, does no country. He's not a thing. Riley Green's a big name. So that'll be a hit for the people watching and going to the game as well. Canadian icon Sarah McLaughlin will sing Oh Canada Jim Cuddy and Greg Keeler of course
Starting point is 01:13:06 of the legendary Canadian band Blue Rodeo will be performing before the game. And there's some other other things that are being trotted out as we work our way towards the big Grey Cup game coming up here. That's a nice lineup. November 15th at McMahon. 15th, okay.
Starting point is 01:13:21 What was Sarah McLaughlin's like? Yeah, she... I know it, but it's one of those I can't recall. whenever they show the yeah like lost pets or if there's anything that's sad going on you put it's like I'm gonna start bawling if they don't turn Sarah McLaughlin hopefully you did not get get me crying at the great cut she does tugging your heart stream meanwhile the Calgary stampeters they're in Ottawa to play the red blacks on Saturday who she's a big one retro what back to back against the black back to back against the red blank
Starting point is 01:13:59 one o'clock Calgary start let's take better care of just get it done early yeah i don't love the peron is 62 yarder yeah don't need it back to back we can don't need that kind of drama stamps six and eight would love some help just ahead of them but both the bombers and the lions have a game in hand they are both at seven and six stamps six and eight bombers are home to toronto lions host Saskatchewan. So come on, Corey Mace, let's get her going. And I don't know. I can't even tell you about the Argos, but go get them, boys.
Starting point is 01:14:32 The double blue. Zach Caleros put on the eye, I think he's injured on the injured list. So that's not good news for the bombers. Great news for the Calgary Stam Peters potentially. National Football League. Thursday nighter Atlanta at Green Bay. The Falcons are 0 and 2. The Packers are one in one.
Starting point is 01:14:50 Michael Pennix Jr. will be at quarterback for Atlanta. He and two are kind of battling over who was going to be the backup. Both, I think, really just wanted to be the backup, but somebody's going to have to start. Both were injured. Atlanta is no good to this point. They are averaging eight points per game through two weeks. Now it's early, but eight points is still eight points. Well, they get pennicks.
Starting point is 01:15:15 Yeah, they do now. Packers beat the Jets in Rainier, New York on Sunday, 2017. And remember in week one, they had a massive lead on Minnesota before collapsing, 39, 22. pressure. Too much pressure. So there you see the line, the Packers at home. I checked the weather. It looks like it's going to be a nice little night in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Jordan Love has failed to beat the spread in five straight games.
Starting point is 01:15:37 So we have a feel on this. I'm going Green Bay. I think it's a, okay, we've kind of mucked it about the first two. Yeah. It's time to get on. That game against Minnesota, and we're learning that the Vikings have a pretty good defense, they put up 22 before completely going to sleep. So yeah, I'm inclined to go with the Packers here minus 4.
Starting point is 01:16:01 I mean, I don't love it. Again, 365, it's kind of like they know what they're doing. The number feels right as far as the 43 and a half and the five points spread. Don't stress over it. It's screen bay. I'm with the better team. It's the better team. Both these teams have been very uninspiring.
Starting point is 01:16:23 I've got some bets coming up. I got some dip to be made. I'm going to make a, really? Uh-huh. What kind? I got the Rital de, the cheese.
Starting point is 01:16:33 Yes. I'm going to see some, some ground beef or some chopped up chicken to that. Very nice. I don't know, but I'm going to make dip tonight. Yeah. I'm getting,
Starting point is 01:16:43 I'm already making plans for dip day. Once through the football season that we kind of do dip day, dip night. Um, I bought another kind of a, it's like a rice cooker, but it also works as a hot. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:54 A receptacle. So I've got three of those, I think, now, plus the other thing. So stay tuned for plans on that. Vladdy Guerrero Jr. Losing faith. The Js mathematically eliminated. So, Jack, you were right all this time. I was, yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:13 You were bang on, buddy. Bang on. They did not make the playoffs. They were so close to winning the entire thing a year ago. Yeah, they were real close. maybe should have yeah and this year they will not get to compete for it vladdie guerrero junior earlier this week now you know what it's like there's some there's some breakdown with language barriers and that he was on a can i just jump in there
Starting point is 01:17:37 real quick i feel like this is a bit of a kipper move on his part where he really understands it and speaks it absolutely no issues i i don't yeah that was very much a kipper thing i don't speak i don't i don't I don't know. He's like, do they believe that? Yeah, it's funny. I've been here for 12 years. They still don't think I can speak English. It's great. He was on a podcast and interview. It was a tough year, right? Like he hit one home run at home. We got $500 million contract. He's like, no. Quote, they didn't pay me to hit $40 every year. They paid me for what I already did. The money they gave me wasn't for what I'm going to do. It's for what I already did. Now, he needs a publicist. Well, yeah. So is that lost? translation is that exactly what he said if you believe that's what he thinks you could see it because his year was atrocious after being having one of the most i mean fans were in love with this guy that run last year was unbelievable uh he had to they said could you we heard this quote you had about making 500 million and not having to essentially not having to play anymore like what's what's this that was a quote from the interview when she asked me how i felt about this year i said that obviously
Starting point is 01:18:53 see, I feel bad about the year that I had, that I couldn't help my team get to the postseason. I said I felt that it's my personal opinion, that every player gets paid for what they've done. With that said, you guys have got to remember. I signed that contract at the beginning of the year, then I did put up a good year,
Starting point is 01:19:08 then the kind of playoffs that I had to help the team get into the World Series. To the fans, I've never stopped working hard. I'm going to go to the offseason again to prepare myself the best I can, physically, mentally everything that I I already started at my teammates. Yeah, yeah, it is that for sure.
Starting point is 01:19:23 it's you know what it's kind of like these podcasts the podcast the podcast would remember what it did to the jackometer when Aaron Rogers was on there he was kind of when they said that influence here it's kind of shooting from the hip and it's great we love it was like that yeah I'm five for what I did you know shit I was on a bark and I was a deal for pay me we heard this podcast oh shit you guys hear that's how I felt about jack and what did that air here did you guys hear well it's the internet it's kind of global thing I take it back. Yeah. So they crafted that little that little deal there. That boy, Vladdy. I see more.
Starting point is 01:20:02 Now, Jack grabbed this. Mark Messier, the most long time, he's in the Hockey Hall of Fame. He's regarded as one of the greatest leaders in hockey history and Stanley Cups and all that sort of thing. He was asked about
Starting point is 01:20:16 his Oilers, his former team, the hiring of Mike Babcock, his head coach. Now, Mike, Mark's a leader, right? He was a leader of men. What does he think about Babcock coming in? Now, all kind of, this is a long quote from Mark Messier. My mom always told me if I didn't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all. Ha ha. I'm absolutely shocked they hired him. I am absolutely shocked from the stories that I heard from very good, reputable character people
Starting point is 01:20:46 about the way they were treated. It's been no secret. I agree with Ray, the way that he was onboarded through the players interviewing him is absolutely something that I've never heard of before. It was weird. Maybe the game has changed and that's the way it's going. Great. I don't know. It certainly wasn't like that. I think there has to be a separation of players of, you know, powers on any structural
Starting point is 01:21:07 level of a team. I don't want to read this whole thing. Well, you're already halfway, give her. Yeah. I think from the management of the coaches of the players. How do you do that when you're directly involved with decisions? I don't understand it. I agree with that.
Starting point is 01:21:20 I am just horrified about the, whole thing, to be honest with you, I could go on and on and on, but I think you get my point. So I think he's talking about how it played out, the person that was hired, the situation at the, the hockey, the players sitting down almost interviewing the coach in a way and then. I don't even care because it's the Oilers. The fact that Babcock's kid is now coaching the Brantford Bulldogs who Hyman's own also weird. could be perceived as weird. It stands out.
Starting point is 01:21:58 Yeah, it could be for sure. Kind of on board with the most here. There you go. Some people online were also, yeah, you wouldn't want the players to ever get involved. Didn't you go into Vancouver and get a coach fired and they brought Keenan in
Starting point is 01:22:13 because you wanted Keenan as your coach? I don't know if anybody asked him or would have the balls to say that to his face, but I don't know. Might give a shit meter on it. It's pretty low to be. honest. I think I don't disagree that a player should be there to play hockey and shut the up. Yep.
Starting point is 01:22:31 You don't like it? And it should be easier than ever. Hellibot could say trade me. You make so much dough. It's like to just insulate yourself. But it trickles down even further. Now, whatever. It's a stupid conversation.
Starting point is 01:22:44 We don't care. I put in, uh, we'll wrap with this one, Jack. I put in a little thing from Jay Fresh. Now, Jay Fresh. Are we allowed to use it? It's not a video. Oh. It's not a video.
Starting point is 01:22:53 And we're giving credit to him. Jay Fresh, he does statistical analysis of the National Hockey League. He's a good follow on social media. And he put out, he kind of put out the smokes. Hey, send me, if you're a fan of a certain team, I want to canvas the league. Who are your most hated teams? If you're from that fan base, who do you hate the most? So he cobbled it all together.
Starting point is 01:23:19 And this is, who hates who? there you see it. Most hated teams by fan base. Over what, 3,400 votes, this sort of thing. So the Calgary Flames you see up there on the left side. The most hated teams, first the Oilers, second, the Leafs, third, the Vegas Golden Knights. I don't get Vegas. Yeah, I don't know. Is it because all the players?
Starting point is 01:23:40 I think so. I think watching Hanifan go and Rasmus go and just the feeling that they just get whatever they want, maybe. But I was a little surprised. Vegas is in a long. A lot of... Vegas is there a lot. You're right. Maybe not first, but some good
Starting point is 01:23:57 second place finishes. The Oilers, the Florida Panthers, the Kings. Yeah, they're doing a good job at rubbing people the wrong way. The Leafs pop up a few times in there. The flames, for what it's worth. Only twice. Oilers.
Starting point is 01:24:12 19 for Vegas. Yeah, that's good work. It's good work there. The Oilers fans, they say, first up, it's Florida. And you can understand that. Yeah. Then they hate Vegas because Vegas has had their number a little bit.
Starting point is 01:24:25 And then the flames. And to be honest, over the past few years, what's there been reason to hate the flames if you're the oilers? Hasn't been much there. And then it's the Kraken. Hey, we're like, we're sitting here. We're belly aching about the cracking. There you go. They're doing the same of us.
Starting point is 01:24:41 Really? They don't like Vegas. So they don't like Edmonton and third on their list of hatred. Because we're boring on the hate list. Yes, because we've got to see these guys all the time. Is that? Stupid podcast and Martin Luther, they keep shit talking us. Maybe that's what it's about.
Starting point is 01:24:57 So there you go. That's Jayfresh hockey. I like that actually. So if anything, the flame's got to do a better job of being hated, being hard to get along with, getting under people's skin. It's great to be like, Dean, but it's all so nice to be. That's right. A problem for people. That's right.
Starting point is 01:25:14 We're going to respect those folk. Sure do. Sure do. There you go. That's the Pinder Report for today. A presentation of Village. Honda proud to be your dealership for life in calgary since nineteen eighty seven located in the northwest auto mall under the giant canadian flag or online at village honda dot com that uh it is it's the stick
Starting point is 01:25:37 thief i thought it was a taco time no stick it's the stick thief got a thief right in our midst really yeah oh god of cops jack whose stick is this uh that's mine oh i guess i just i just i just take it. It's weird. He got it for you. Yeah, brought it in. This is, oh, yeah, it's just here, have a stick. There must be a six-month return. Yeah, I don't know. I didn't read the fine print on it. Didn't read the fine print on it.
Starting point is 01:26:05 We've been doing with Coca-Cola. We've been talking, now it's going to rev up because we look at it. Fans hate people. You know, they've got to hate it, all that sort of thing. Once the game start meeting something, we're going to have a lot of fan moments. Being a fan, it's a presentation of Coca-Cola, being a hockey fan. it's a commitment. The superstitions, the chance, the pacing, the standing through overtime because sitting just feels wrong. Whether you're making the climb up to the nosebleeds, rallying your section to start the wave,
Starting point is 01:26:33 maybe keeping one eye on the out of town scoreboard, true fandom puts in work. Every shift deserves an ice cold Coca-Cola fan work is thirsty work. Well said. And this is kind of become a thing. I know around Thanksgiving, some teams they'll have like gravy boats that they're give out the fan the giveaways that the individual teams have or just the things when you buy it at the rink it's getting better it's getting smarter it's getting cooler detroit has been doing a bunch of stuff here's one that popped up jack noticed this one this is new jersey now what are we looking
Starting point is 01:27:06 here okay it's a air hockey looks like one of those air hockey things all right well what does this have to oh so you buy your corn and on the top you got the thing well how all right so it's a lid for your popcorn. I'm going to want to eat the popcorn. Oh, I see so you could grab a thing of corn and now we're going to, uh, she struggles. Oh, what are we going to do? We're going to, she actually gets some good, got some heat on it there. Like, I wonder if do you separate it, like have it half and half and then this is how I get more corn than you do. I'm here for it. This is much better than the kids being on their phone. It is much better. Much better. Yeah. Oh, it is. Bingo.
Starting point is 01:27:51 Nice. I get to eat it. Popcorn. Popcorn bucket with a playable rink on top that you can play hockey with. There you go. It's a fan moment for you. Every shift deserves an ice cold Coca-Cola fan work is thirsty work. Ice-cold Coke.
Starting point is 01:28:09 Delicious. With popcorn especially. Oh, I love popcorn. Is popcorn bad for you or good for you? Don't worry about it. Okay. it's kind of what I've been doing. I just thought I asked.
Starting point is 01:28:22 I thought maybe I'd start to worry about it, but if you say not to, then. What did we say? We wanted to be clear-minded or something like that? You can't be clear-minded if you're worrying about things, Dean. Yeah. Peace of mind? I guess so, yeah.
Starting point is 01:28:36 Yeah, I guess so. Anyway, let's do some, well, I'm only this year. I'll just, he says, popcorn's good for you if there's no butter or salt. I didn't know that was even hating it. It's interesting. Because you do you hear, I just have some popcorn.
Starting point is 01:28:52 I did. It was smothered in stuff, but apparently it's the smothering that that ends up costing you. Let's take a look at some bits. Bet 365, official partner, presenting partner of Barnburner in a game as fast as hockey. It pays to be early. The same goes at Bet365, whether it's the early birds, early bird specials boosted pregame odds or instant midgame payouts with early payout. They are the barn for winning early this season. Bet 365, the home of winning early.
Starting point is 01:29:25 Now, Alberta only must be 18 years of age in Alberta. And of course, play responsibly. Don't go getting crazy. Just have some fun with it. We're having some fun here today. Not hockey, but football. The Thursday nighter, Atlanta, Green Bay. I did a little looking this morning.
Starting point is 01:29:40 Now, Bejohn Robinson, he's one of the best running backs in Italy. It's been a slow start. But they've got, Michael Pennix is going to be better than Cooper Rush. There's at least some competent quarterback play, which may, other teams like, well, they're not going to throw the ball. Just stack the box to play the run all the time. Over 78 and a half rushing yards for Bijan, let's say he gets over that. And Trey Smack, he's the kicker. Now, the over seven and a half kicking points, week one, he had 10, week two, he had eight.
Starting point is 01:30:10 And in the eight last week against the Jets in awful rain and wind, he still put up eight points. I'm going to say the over. So give me some Bijon and some tray smack. You put those together for a plus 3.30. And at the bottom, everybody's all over. Jordan. Love this guy's terribly bad. Well, let's go.
Starting point is 01:30:29 I'm going to go the other way. In week one against, again, in optimal conditions, in Minnesota, against the tough Vikings defense, he had 387 passing yards. Less last week in the rain. But we expect conditions to be all right. Right. He had two touchdown passes in week one, two in week two. So I'm going to take the over one and a half there, over the 228 and a half. And Christian Watson had two touchdowns in week one, had one last week. I say he's good for another one tonight. I like it. Throw him together. I might combine both those. You could.
Starting point is 01:31:02 Jack. A little plus 375 on the bottom plus 330. It would be, that's what Jack would do. It's just smush them all together. Just be it together. Just be irresponsible when you're putting this. Yes, sir. Right? I need a big one out of Bijon. I just traded. it for him in our chop. We saw you did. I saw you did. Stay alive. It's an active member. Yeah, he is.
Starting point is 01:31:23 There you go. Beth 365. Early bird specials boosted pregame odds, instant midgame payouts. They are the bar for winning early this season. Bet three, six five, the home of winning early. But yes, 18 or older in Alberta, please play responsibly. That is one of those things, too. Green Bay and Atlanta on a Thursday.
Starting point is 01:31:41 I know the NFL is getting some heat for having the Falcons in prime time. Three and three. Well, this is how you get a little, this is how you make it fun. Get a little, get a little bit 365 in your life. Have some fun with it.
Starting point is 01:31:54 But be responsible when you do it. What are we doing for chats today, Jack? We got one. We got one. Wow, we're consistent. Oh, you got two. Oh, we got two. All right.
Starting point is 01:32:07 Here we go. Super chat. When we are live, if you put a comment into the comment section of YouTube with some dough, the money gets donated to the youth centers of Calgary. And then we put you on the show. it's kind of the little thing. Oh, no.
Starting point is 01:32:19 Oh, dear. He's got her. Oh, there we're. That is a confusing. So 1399 for what it's my saints are looking good. First time in years. Should I let early success go to my head even being one in one? Oilers suck.
Starting point is 01:32:31 Go flames. Go for it. Last part. No, I think this Tyler Shuck, I think he's all right. I think he's all right. You don't want to have a favorite team like Dean and not cheer for them.
Starting point is 01:32:43 So noodles, give you, enjoy the ups and downs. yells, scream, go for it. Be a fan. Yeah. Yeah, the Saints, why not? It's kind of a weak division.
Starting point is 01:32:54 We got that young receiver who's going to be coming back, Jordan Tyson, injured already. Don't know about that run game. Oh, Alan Camara. Vickers drafted for me. Travis. Atien, yeah. Remember, it was Travis E.T.N.
Starting point is 01:33:08 And then he chased on Travis A-chan. I'm here in. Right. Is that what he said? That's, he's in Norway. We're watching the game. Why is this guy calling him A-Cham? The Creole. Yeah, that whole kind of thing.
Starting point is 01:33:19 Interesting. I thought I was going crazy. Yeah. So there's A. Chan in Miami and this Travis A. Chan Jr. It's interesting. Don't do it to us. We're dumb humans. We can't figure this stuff out.
Starting point is 01:33:33 Cheer hard there, buddy. Cheer hard. Is this more guy out forever? Dege? Dege. I think it's day to day. I know what's going on. It likely be restricted week three.
Starting point is 01:33:43 Yeah. It's like Caleb Williams. guys dead oh my play fellas Bullet race at 20 bucks great run of shows the last two weeks my barn boss dragged me to Dedmonton last week
Starting point is 01:33:56 Cody Johnson concert incredible show but the sickness I got from being in that effing hippo take no good be careful up there folks thank you Bullock it's just that's that's 24 7365
Starting point is 01:34:10 that's just good advice anytime all the time if you got to go up there I mean, just be careful. Be careful up there, folks. A hippotank. Did we start that, the hippotank thing? Pinder says we did, but Pinder's not bright enough to come up with anything on his own.
Starting point is 01:34:33 He heard it somewhere. So he heard it somewhere, yeah. He's not a compliment if you're curious. It's not at all a compliment in any way, shape, or form. So that's, I believe that's it, Jackie, buddy. That's it. how was the show today? Better than yesterday.
Starting point is 01:34:50 Thank God for noodles. Well, you know what? I thought Rhett was great yesterday. Yes. Because he started arguing with Pinder and. Well, it was odd because I was trying to be supportive of his take. Yeah, you were writing the years. The teeter talk out there.
Starting point is 01:35:04 You need a seatbelt. You need a seatbelt when you're going with Pinder. I did see one here, though. Oh, you're scrolling the comments from you. Yeah, well, I just saw some, again, we've taken the piss out of Ryan today. Rightfully. He's, he's been useless for two weeks.
Starting point is 01:35:29 Sick and then he's gone and then he's sick and then he's gone, but I'm fine, but I'm hung old. Yeah. Yeah. We should do, we got to, let's do a show every day. Yeah, because you don't show up. awesome let's do it
Starting point is 01:35:46 that's probably good place to leave it then I guess I don't need to get into that yeah tomorrow is is going to be the Friday show being that it's going to be Friday we'll have the Friday show tomorrow I think that's worse
Starting point is 01:35:56 we'll react to tonight's matchup between the flames and the Cracken we will take a look a little look back at this football game tonight count all our winnings Jack from Bet 365 all going into the weekend it's going to be fun it's going to be great
Starting point is 01:36:09 and Darren Dregor will join us as he is on a Friday So that is, that's going to do it. What should we tell Ryan to stay home? Oh, if he's here, I am. No chance. Well, if he was sweating through the bed like last night this morning, it feels like that's not a quick turnaround.
Starting point is 01:36:29 No. What does he add? When he's sick like that? Yes. Hung over or sick? He thinks he's hungover, he thinks he's hilarious. When he's sick, he tells he's not sick and he thinks he's good. I do like sometimes when he's like
Starting point is 01:36:45 incoherent when doing the Pinda report and his calling for stuff, but it's not right and you don't know where the hell he's going and he doesn't know where he's going. I do enjoy that. So there's a high chance that that could happen tomorrow because he'd be out of it. He should spend the day learning about technology
Starting point is 01:37:01 and the fact that his phone actually has a camera that he could use and just sit up. Go order a laptop today. It's been way too long. Come on. Get with the time. We've only been doing this. after five years.
Starting point is 01:37:14 It's not your fault. This will be the year, though. This would be the big year. Have a great there, everybody. See you, buddies.
