Welcome to the, we need like a, it's like the number one, uh, podcast.
Who would have the number one podcast covering the flames in Calgary?
Nice to be else.
Do you think so?
Yeah, but more importantly, it'd be like the world's most popular kangaroo hockey food podcast based
out of Calgary.
Like that's up.
Shot videos.
That's right.
Yeah.
If you Googled us, would it come up as a Flames podcast?
I don't know what they.
Because for a while, we weren't even in the sports category.
We were like in arts entertainment.
So that's the real.
I think that was a mistake, though.
Speaking of food, I got this a lot around here.
I could eat.
I'm starving.
What's there?
Give us some options.
What are we looking at?
Okay.
Well, we got Rachel's Mediterranean.
It's kind of a, it's the Greek version.
of Chipotle.
Cabob.
Dunkin donuts.
There's Wendy's.
Spicy chicken.
Portobella mushroom.
I should go check if they do.
Portobella.
They're a chick fillet.
A couple of subshops.
A southwestern grill.
What is the reputation of the chick filler?
What are we?
It is a cult following.
Okay.
So is it kind of like getting out,
but different?
Or like, what are we talking about?
Well, it's only chickens.
I don't know that I've been and they're not in Canada.
It's only chicken.
And don't they, there's some rules for the people in the drive-thru.
They have to be like over-the-top friendly.
And I think they have to ask you how was your day or how are you doing or something?
They're a faith-based business, I believe.
They are not open on Sundays.
Yeah.
That's not an option.
I'm not.
I am serious.
And, uh, I believe.
So, because I looked at the, uh,
the franchises because everyone who was lined up when we were in Phoenix during COVID.
And it's a different approach to things.
I'll just say that.
Dean and I were looking at franchises too.
But yeah, we just said it wasn't for us.
No, I'm surprised you know that.
That's the big thing about they're not okay.
I did not know that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
What I remember about them is I think the foul poles in like Houston or somewhere down south,
maybe Atlanta.
They had the Chick-Fill advertisement.
it's always the cows that are like, eat more chicken.
And you're like, okay, it's, I'm for,
I'm remembering that.
I've never even been there.
And I remember that.
That's their market.
They're famous for their souse.
They have a fancy souse.
Which is overrated.
I believe it is.
It's good.
It's almost a weird honey mustard aoli.
Yeah.
Something or other.
Can I flip my phone?
Will I look better if I turn it?
Yeah, probably.
I mean, I look great no matter what.
Look, watch.
Yeah, no matter what.
Oh, I'm upside.
Hey.
Have you ever been to raisin canes, Red?
I don't know if I have.
I seen it.
I don't recall eating it.
Raisin canes to me is superior.
They are, all you get there is chicken fingers.
It's a chicken finger place.
Chicken finger fries, coleslaw.
And they have the Caniac sauce.
That's the one.
Caniac.
far superior
product.
So next time
if you're in your travels
I don't know
because I think
it's in the
kind of the
southwest
Nevada,
California.
Yeah,
I know.
I'm sure I saw it
in Vegas.
But they're getting bigger.
They're getting bigger.
They're popping up
everywhere.
You'll see them sponsoring
bigger sporting events
and stuff like that.
If you ever go,
you can go and get the
Caniac basket
and have some canyac sauce.
Oh,
mama.
I read the shack.
was had some sort of chicken thing starting up too.
Really?
Mr. O'Neill.
Hmm.
Shake shit.
Anyway.
That's good too.
That's a different one.
That's not the same thing?
No.
Okay.
No, it's not.
I said to Ryan before the,
before the show started, I said, I had a surprise for him today.
And he said, oh, I don't know if I like surprise.
He said, Ryan, you're going to like this one.
So what I need you to do, Ryan, is put your sunglasses on.
there you go you're all set i'm ready friday is hawaiian shirt day so you know if you want to go ahead
and uh wear a hawaiian shirt and jeans there you go somebody figured out a soundpad over here
yeah that's right let's go let's go ha so i need what we should do is have the long time listeners
so what drops were your favorite from yes because we where was it wasn't
on the show, I think we were, I don't know where we were, but I threw out at Kevin and RJ laughed
out loud. That was one of his favorites. I was in January somewhere. Oh, I got another one. Hang on.
Okay. Actually, you know what? I'll save this one. I'll save this one. I'll just kind of subtly bring it in.
Yes. Now, if I may, if I may, I've always wanted to do a March Madness bracket,
but instead of NCAA basketball teams, I don't know anything about just our drops, because we
have at least 64 good ones.
And we could run a live poll in the comments.
Guys, March Madness.
It's kind of presumptuous, though, that people listened and that they cared enough to remember.
They don't even have to.
They can just say, I like one of the other.
We can tell a little backstory, give them the context, put the poll up.
I guess so.
I just want to make a big bracket.
I fucking love brackets.
CFL, hire me.
He, he F bum brackets.
He did, yeah.
That's how much he likes.
That's how much he's.
My one kid is wired the same way.
And he'll be eating dinner.
He has to do an NFL brand.
I don't know how it works.
And I'd be like a little post-it note while I'm eating.
Oh, I thought you're going to say the F-bombs.
This chicken's fucking great.
No, and I'll pass him a little post-it-not.
Oh, there's buys for the top seats.
Wow.
Yeah.
Well, hey.
What hope does the kid have, really?
He's going to be a nerd for sports.
Let's get into the opening statements.
brought to you by McLeod Law. Shane King, great guy, partner in the litigation and dispute resolution group.
Get in there, some common sense, some even keel, level-headed.
If you've been laid off or terminated, it can be hard, you can be emotional.
Shane can review your situation, make sure you've been treated fairly and as the law requires using a practical approach, plain language, not legal jargon.
When emotions are high, you need some help. You need someone to just kind of, here's the best thing to do.
Here's what we definitely should not do, and this is what we should do.
And Shane is the best.
Whatever your legal situation is, could be stressful.
Get a hold of McLeod Law.
They have someone there that is going to help you and steer you in the right direction.
MacLeod-Dashlaw.com, great partners of ours here at Flames Nation and at Barnburner.
I was going to go through this morning, but it was taking a long time.
I was going to take yesterday's show and just grab a montage of us shit talk in the Columbus Blue Jackets and just put it together.
They're irrelevant.
Oh, they're terrible.
Their coach stinks.
Oh, they can't draft worth of the shit.
Ah, they're afraid of heavy.
We said it kind of almost in jest that, well, we're going to do it now.
You know, they're going to go out and win tonight.
And yeah, that's pretty much how social media and my phone was buzzing.
Yeah, thanks.
Thanks, guys.
Thanks, guys.
Pretty much set us up for this.
There was no hope.
I don't know why I bothered watching after you guys went and ripped them.
I guess retro thoughts on this game.
did the jackets win it? Did the flames lose it?
A couple of horrendous bounces or turnovers or plays, however you want to look at it for Markstrom.
You don't want to spot a team one goal, let alone two.
Maybe it's a different game if they don't give them those two.
But even still, it was the jackets were better last night.
They weren't undeniable that they should have had the victory.
And I'm talking about the flames.
So the bad bounces, sure, and then a bad penalty.
I don't think Huberto should take that one.
And I said last night, I think at 3-2 against the Columbus team, you still have a pretty good chance with a period left.
That put up to bed for me.
Yeah.
Yeah, they were all self-inflicted wounds.
Do you know this was not Columbus, just speedbagging the flames.
You get a bad break from the ref, but it's only in the opening three minutes.
You got 57 minutes plus to deal with that.
So whatever, you move along.
Markstrom was laughing about it after it happened.
I think that's the right approach.
It's early.
One-nothing wasn't going to be your final score.
But then it's a bad puck play from the goalie.
And then it's allowing a shorty.
And then it's getting a five-minute major to them when you're one down.
And then the other is the empty-netter.
I mean, all of those are a direct result of a flames mistake.
And I didn't think they were very bad.
They certainly weren't very good.
And Columbus, that's a good road game.
You take what's given to you.
You make the most of it.
And, you know, it was kind of the point I was making yesterday.
It was like, they do have lots of good young players.
They should be better than this.
And you look, and it's like, geez, there's a lot of guys with size.
there's a lot of guys with skill.
They're not world beaters,
but they should be better
than third or fourth in the bottom.
The short-handed one again,
that's a lot of the same.
Two games in a row where your power play is no good
and you give up short-handed goals.
It really seemed to me like that was almost
the turning point of the game emotionally for the flames,
which is terrible because that was the three-two goal,
not even halfway through the second.
It felt like, oh, well, it took the wind right out of their sales,
not even halfway through the hockey game
to put them down a goal.
That's not really what we,
seen out of this club they've been pretty resilient they've been resilient
the problem against though fuck yeah and part of the problem is like I said
after two emotional games last week or last weekend St. Louis
was a bad loss you give it up Columbus is hard to get up for
and any momentum you have to create some excitement and energy you lose it on that
type of play and you you nailed this whole right that's all I was thinking last
I was like, yeah, this is exactly what Warner was talking about.
It's too long at home.
It's two emotional games at the start.
And then it's games that are really hard to get up for it.
You'd think you'd be able to really emphasize that if you're the coaches.
But that's all I was thinking is, yeah, they're just, and the All-Star games coming.
There's just, it's the worst combo, right?
I will say this.
I thought they got a rise out of Oliver Shillington.
I thought they had a good first period.
They had 18 shots.
If not for two blemishes, they were the much better team in the first.
they should have been ahead coming out of the first,
but there really wasn't much moxie beyond the first intermission.
There just wasn't.
I said that last night too, not to say Mr.
No, but I think they needed to get the lead.
Playing with the lead against a team like Columbus better than letting him stay in it or playing for behind.
Never like.
Jason.
Yeah, chasing all night.
I don't know what to.
It was,
Huska talked about it.
His quote last night.
I was going to grab it.
I'll just paraphrate.
I'll give you the quote.
I feel like our penalty kill is more dangerous than our power play right now,
and that's not a good thing.
And he's not wrong.
There were a couple of, the one kill specifically, where it was Coleman, was in on the forecheck
and then got, how is this, how is this possible?
And it's, I know we keep harping on it, but it's just too often.
It's a regular occurrence where the power play sucks the life out of the flames,
gives momentum to the other team.
They have more energy on the penalty kill.
I said it to your red.
I don't know.
I'm not calling for anybody's head.
But at some point, whether you're a good team or a bad team,
it can't be acceptable.
No, and it's not.
And the reason the penalty kill does a better job is because they,
the words you use, energy.
The penalty, the power play is so.
Flat?
Okay, yeah, good word, flat.
They're so flat and they're hoping it happens.
they're not working to make it happen.
And I don't know that they have the skill to do it,
but the penalty kill is flat out effort.
Yeah, they can do that.
They can handle that.
Yeah.
To be creative and play hard is different than just straight lines and all
player. It sounds silly, but it's true.
The penalty kill, full of confidence,
I'm just going to go, work my ass off, we'll be all right.
The power play, oh, I got to make a play.
Oh, I got to make a play.
We need to make a play.
We have to start scoring.
the powerplay sucks they're in their own kitchen yep i liked their second powerplay the one early
in the third they got five shots there they were zipping it around but i mean it's a result
business and one nice power play every week ain't enough uh and they didn't even score on it so
i don't know what's i i don't know what savard does well and to be now when you say that do you
mean what is he what is he doing uh for his job or what does he do moving forward or like any power
I don't know what he does.
Yeah.
He was eating sandwiches back there?
What's he doing?
Not eating sandwiches.
Yeah.
Yeah, but I look at it.
I would just roll lines through.
Fuck.
If next up, go.
Next up, go.
Here's kind of the basic gist of what we're trying to do.
Now, that's putting a noose around your own neck as coach probably.
But is it going to be worse?
Have you reward three kids that you just call?
rolled up from the Wranglers.
And they were probably playing PowerPlay there.
Who's played PowerPlay in the A?
Because it couldn't have been rolling at fucking 13%.
And honestly, like, I wouldn't be surprised if they get a little bump in
mojo after the deadline.
If you get, you know, like some fresh blood in there.
Even Zeri, I thought it's helped a bunch.
Not that it's dynamic now, but God, it was guys standing still for half the season.
It felt like.
Maybe Shillington.
Yeah, yeah.
Gating his own stuff for this group sometimes, right?
That's something I think his feet would help you with.
Yep.
It's brutal.
There was one sequence last night during the power play where they had that,
I talked to Ryan about it.
You never see it out of the flames where it goes from what you want to call the bumper position
to below the goal line to a guy in the slot for a quick one.
I think they had one of those last night.
It was like, oh, there was a scoring chance.
There was a shot on net, and then you didn't see it again all night.
You never see it.
It's like there's no plan.
It's hop the boards.
And to a certain extent, that's what you've talked about.
That's kind of what it is.
You get out there and you can practice, but it comes down to your intelligence, your vision,
your ability with the puck, all of that, because it changes so fast.
So you can practice it, but it just does feel like, well, let's just get out there and we'll move the puck around.
and see what happens.
Maybe it's just me,
but if something comes open,
you go to the open spot
and I'll try and hit you with it.
I feel like watching this team
on odd man rushes,
it's like they're not going to get a shot.
They're not going to get a shot.
They're not going to get a shot.
They're not going to get a shot.
They're not going to get a shot.
They'll probably score.
And that sort of speaks to the talent level of this group.
Like I think a lot of their goals
would be scored off the cycle
and zone time and possession
and working it around
and out working people and winning battles.
It's not a team that I don't think does well off the rush
necessarily.
Like, oh, it's a two on one.
It's like,
someone's pass,
they'll get blocked or they'll miss the net.
And that's kind of what the power play is, right?
You've got one more man.
It's going to be high-skill plays.
I get that they score at five-on-five,
but can't on the power play.
That's what their roster looks like.
We couldn't name a single 30-goal guy off this roster this summer.
You might have one,
but it wasn't the guys we were thinking,
Coleman, Sharon Govich.
Like they're just,
they're missing top-end talent fellas.
They work hard.
They're a good group of guys.
I think they're well-coached.
There's not high-end skill.
no and they don't even have a cannon from the point right
Rasmus is okay but no you want something better than that in theory
right is uh is Michael stone on the payroll
is he around the building there somewhere
he took a zero off his salary and he's still depot could probably find a set of
a pair of skates back there I got an old set of graphs or something in here for you
fire those on I'm not I love Michael's I'm not sure I'm ready for that
I'm not really you know what it is rather than bitch we're trying to
provide some solutions.
It's a love it even.
I'm not working, but we're trying.
We're trying to do it.
Zeri does score on, if you want to talk about things that are on, you know,
that are working well and on the plus side, 10 goals.
Would not have, if you just said there's going to be a rookie that's going to get 10 goals
on this team, I'd have gone a few deep before I'd have said to you that it'd be Connor
Zeri.
So good for him.
Even on, even on nights where he's not scoring or not, because that line was their best.
line I thought last night once again. Again.
And good to have Coronado again with another strong performance when you consider the
debut was pretty quiet against Edmonton. Yeah. And you give him time. You give him time.
But it again just keeps as they lose as they lose games. Yeah. I'm okay with it because that's,
that's where we're going from here is more that improved that and more of that is that. That's, that's
what I am hungry for.
Youth and skill.
Let's have that.
Yeah. Yeah. And they're going to be tight on forwards,
fellas. They lost Rosie on waivers,
dubey's away from the team,
AJ Greer gets hurt last night. That doesn't
look good. And you might have a huge... That was their fourth line.
Right? That was their fourth line for a...
Well, we talked about it last night. It was the same fourth
line for months and they're all gone.
And you might not see any of them again the rest of the year,
never mind the three of them again, which won't happen because Rosie's
gone. And so you've got
clap cup. You bring back Walker to her,
but if Hubert's facing a suspension here,
you're also going to be down to nothing.
You might be a forward short here.
Like,
I don't know who's next up from the Wranglers,
but it's got to be looking like an East Coast forward group at this point
with the number of guys that have come up.
Unless it depends how close Pelchay is, right?
I guess if he's just going to play this weekend.
So let's say Hubertos suspended for Saturday's game.
And this is a suspension?
I'm not saying it is right.
I'm just saying hypothetically.
Pelch's,
I think you want him playing in the A before he comes up.
For sure.
Yeah.
It's right on the numbers.
It's unnecessary.
he gets bloodied pretty bad.
I wouldn't be surprised at all
if it's a one or two gamer.
It's completely unnecessary.
I'm with Pinder.
It's a finish on a exposed player
and he gets hurt.
And sometimes just like,
oh,
the player turned and it's like,
he's following the puck.
That's why he turns.
It has nothing to do with the contact.
He's taking a pass up the wall.
That's a very vulnerable player.
That's a shitty hit.
And then when the highlight is,
there's blood streaming all over his face,
like he's been Frankenstein.
Like,
that doesn't help either.
never mind if he's hurt.
If Roslilvic misses time, who knows?
And I don't recall if he came back after that because that was third.
No, he did not.
That was late enough in the game too where you can't.
No.
You got a game of sconed it.
It's a nine minute mark, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Nine minutes left.
So to the original point, yeah, it's funny how it goes, right?
If this happened in the previous game against St. Louis where Hubert had this whole thing
and Greer gets injured, you're not putting Rizigieg go on waivers.
For sure, right?
you're, that's, that's not happening.
And if you're trading Lindholm, you're going to, hey, who can we slide down in the middle?
Like, Rosie played the middle.
Dube played the middle.
And so that's why Cole Schwentz here.
Like, he's playing the middle.
If you need another center, I don't even know.
Like Clark Bishop, Ben Jones?
What are we doing here?
What are your thoughts there, right?
Both D. DeSimon and Rizek, leave.
I'm a little, I'm not surprised that Rzich got picked up and good for D.
D. Simone, I guess, but I'm a little surprised they did expose when Pinder,
I've not, I didn't do a deep dive into it.
His play doesn't indicate he should be in the lineup and getting tons of ice time.
I'm talking about Rizitschka, but you're a depth at center and what you're going to do moving forward with the trade deadline and stuff like that would give me a little more hesitation to go, well, even if we don't think he's going to be our guy, we're going to need something to put it up there.
And it's not even like, oh, we, we don't have a guy to play fourth line center.
You do, but who's going to play third line center?
Because if it's Cadrean Backland 1-2, you're literally putting an AHL or in your 3C hole.
Yeah.
I mean, we're kind of carded in front of the horse already deleting Lindholm.
But we think it's going to happen.
I think it's reasonable, right?
Or the other thing is, too, it's another year.
We got our insider standing by, but they've not really been drilled with injuries a whole lot.
If you start to, and even on the blue line with Schillington coming back in, they were playing three guys.
Well, what if, what if Tana have misses some time, let alone trade?
What if all of a sudden Rasmus Anderson or Hannafin have to miss some time?
It does get real thin, real quick.
That's the opening statement for our friends over at McLeod Law.
They will take the stress off your shoulders.
You're not alone.
You let them come in, handle your legal, your insurance, your medical claims, whatever the issue is,
they're who you want on your team and on your side.

It's tell us.com slash flames contest as we go to the insider hotline and say,
good day to our buddy Darren Dregor, TSN Insider.
How are we doing, Gregs?
Yeah, I'm doing okay, fellas.
Yeah, you know, just kind of getting through the week.
It was an interesting one on and off the ice and things are kind of heating up,
not necessarily on the trade front, but opening up to a point when you look at the standings and the
playoff push. So that always kind of heightens the expectation. Yeah, I think I saw you had mentioned
on Twitter about the L.A. Kings. We played the Drew Doughty clip. I guess it was yesterday or the day before.
I mean, that's tremendous audio for people who are in our business or visuals. That's,
it's honest. It's very Drew Doughty. And it's, I don't think he's wrong. That's,
I don't even know how you characterize it.
That's hard to repair.
It's one thing if there's an X's and O's or a fundamental thing.
Okay, well, let's work on our back check or our forecheck.
This is more than that.
How do you think Todd McClellan goes about bringing this team together
because there's a fracture there?
Well, yeah.
And every time I see Todd postgame and looks at his head is about to explode.
He's got the weight of the world.
on him, did not pull any punches, similarly to Drew Doughty the other night.
He's got to be exasperated, that being a head coach.
You know, if you look at that loss to Buffalo, they give up four straight.
You know, the line of, I guess it was Moore-Den-O and Fiala.
I mean, that's a line traditionally L.A. has been able to lean on.
You know, Phil Dono is noted as being a good defensive center.
They were on for four against.
So even the better players for the LA Kings are getting selfish, as Dowdy alluded to.
So how do you fix that?
I mean, that's a mindset that's really difficult to break.
And then you've got the conundrum that is Pierre-Luc Dubois.
Those close to them say that, you know, he's working hard.
You know, he's working hard.
He's trying to get out of it.
Well, it could be a case of too little too late because now then you look at what they're facing.
So they've lost 12 of 14.
Management says, we're just going to stay the court.
for now. But they've lost 12 and 14. And seven of their next date starting tonight against Colorado
are on the road. So, I mean, they're collapsing in the standings. You've got a coach who's on an expiring
contract. I mean, I can appreciate that Rob Lake and senior management doesn't want to have to do
anything drastic, but you're also at a point in the season where if you don't do something drastic,
you're out of the playoffs.
And then you've got to explain
why you didn't do something
more significant to ownership.
So it's all around ugly in LA.
There's no other way to describe it.
I didn't, I guess I knew that.
When you bring it up,
that it's an expiring contract for Todd McClellan.
We just don't see that scenario very often in,
in sport because coaches,
it's like their contract is over when there's one year left.
I'm not, I can't coach under this current contract.
Blake may also be on an expiring deal, to be fair.
Yeah.
And look, it's January.
We've seen shabbyer rosters and this get it together and have nice runs.
But that doesn't mean there isn't concern right now.
What kind of a move should they be considering if they are trying to shake things up,
drags?
Yeah.
I mean, they keep saying that they've got to fix it internal because, I mean, you're right.
Well, like, what can they do?
their big splashy deal was with Winnipeg, you know, and bring in Pierre-Luc Dubois.
You know, they absolutely rolled the dice on goaltending in signing Cam Talbot,
who has been really good.
I mean, better than most expected.
You know, the guy has struggled with injury, but yet for the first good chunk of the season,
Cam Talba was part of the reason why the Los Angeles Kings were making their way up in the Western Conference standing.
So it's an excellent question.
but unless Rob Blake is willing to pedal away some of his youth,
and I don't think that's wise when you look at some of the other pieces.
I mean, he's not trading Quentin Byfield,
so I don't even want to include him in this conversation.
But I do remember, you know, about 10, 15 games into the season talking to Blakey about Byfield.
And, you know, he's playing on the wing.
And he's playing on the wing mostly because Anzee Kopitar loves playing with this kid.
But I think historically most of us thought that Quentin Byfield was a little.
likely going to find his way as an NHL center. So I asked about, you know, are you just grooming
him to slide him to center ice at some point? And the message I got back was, well, that might be
the way it plays out. But the reason we brought in Pierre-Luc Dubois was because we wanted to
take the pressure off of having to put Byfield at Center Ice. And now you've got Dubois doing what he's
doing. They can't even really slide Byfield, who's been tremendous this year, into the center
hole because that breaks up another line. So, man, it's, it's messy all around and there's not
really a quick fix. And I'm not even sure coaching would be a quick, I think, I happen to think
Todd McCollin's a good coach. I think he's trying to coach his ass off here. You know, it's just,
how do you break selfish when that finds its way into your lineup, the way that Drew Dowdy has
explained it. Yeah, I mean, you've got Craig Baroube sitting out there. And we can all look at
situations where Barube might be an up tech upgrade.
I'm not so sure he's an upgrade on Todd McClellan in L.A.
I mean, they could have a roster problem.
Yeah.
I think, and I also think you had on Twitter, if not Byfield,
maybe a guy like Arthur Calliav could be,
not could be had, but might be used as an asset there.
A guy who was a thought he was going to be a late first.
I think he went to the second round.
There's a function at the junction there too,
between player and coach and management.
Well, I'll tell you what, I'm a fan of self-deprecating humor.
So when somebody takes a shot at me, whether they know they are or not, I find that amusing.
I just do it.
So, yeah, on Tuesday, I lumped Philip Broberg and Arthur Calliope together, just two young pieces
that might need a change.
We know that Broberg wants out of the order's organization.
You know, unless they promote him back to the NHL club and actually play him, of course he'd want
out.
I mean, he can be a defenseman in the national hockey together.
every day all day long.
And then you look at Calliov, and clearly he doesn't play the game that McClellan wants him
to play.
He's been multiple scratched how many times in the month of January.
So they've got to figure that out because that's a young asset, again, that is proven
he can score, not officially at the NHL level, but there's a history in this kid that shows
he can generate offense, but, you know, he's bumped off the power play and then he's put
in the press box.
And, you know, no one is hammering their fists on the table.
saying, hey, trade me, trade me, trade me.
That's not what was implied or reported.
It's just you got to get him back into the mix here.
If he can't play in this LA Kings lineup now,
then if you're Rob Blake, don't you flip them
and try and get something back that your coach is going to play?
So I'll get back to why it got a little humorous for me.
So one of the reporters, I don't know who it was,
asked Todd McClain about this, I think on Wednesday,
maybe yesterday about the idea that Calliiff could be on the move.
And he says, well, and I'm paraphrasing, you know how this happens?
Here's how this happens.
It's not like Arthur Callie picks up the phone and calls some guy in Toronto and says,
I want to move.
No, the agent does that.
Some guy in Toronto.
Todd, I remember, Todd McClough, I may have covered you when you were playing in Major Junior
Hawke.
Let's just pump the brakes here.
Yeah, with Swift current that long ago, really, Todd?
Come on.
I did get a good chuckle out of that.
So, I mean, that's, hey, look, what's being reported around who might be on the move
or who's unhappy is the least of Todd McClellan's issues right now.
That's fair.
It's interesting that those are the types of pieces I think the flames will be interested in.
You know, we've done the Bowen Byram chat, the Arthur Calli of thing.
Like, there are picks out there, but there are also teams that are spent a lot of picks
because they're in contention windows.
And keying in on young players that aren't quite there yet might be a move for the
flames.
Who else do you see out there?
Like, I mean, you would talk about Boston, Colorado with their need for center.
Yeah.
Do you see Connie maybe taking that route instead of just saying, I need picks, picks, picks?
Yeah.
Because look, I mean, you'll give them the contracts that the Calgary Flames have.
And there's a big question mark.
This is our Jake and Marksham's future.
I think we all would agree to that.
it feels it has to be a transition rather than a full-on rebuild.
That's the way it feels.
So you only do that by, yeah, of course, you want the best picks you can, you know, bring in.
But you need roster ready players or at least prospects that you're reasonably certain
are going to be able to play in the very, very near future.
That's what you're looking for.
And that gets challenging because unless you're a top contending team
and you feel like you have to more or less go all in, how do you do that, right?
You know, I'm looking, I touched on this on insider trading last night.
And the one thing that the Columbus Blue Jackets are going to be very mindful and careful
of is those young pieces.
I mean, it would be nonsensical to throw Fantilli's name out there.
It's not happening.
Any of those young guys, very, very unlikely.
But Columbus and their list of players are willing to listen on seems to be very,
growing day by day.
And Calgary wouldn't be interested in any of the heavyweights there like Proverov or
or Lion A.
Well, so Jenner for me is interesting because pretty much every playoff team I'm sure
is called Yarmouth to say, what about Boone Jenner?
But in Jenner's case, the contract is outstanding.
And he truly is their heart and soul.
So, you know, if you're willing to move Boon Jenner, then look out, you know, it's time to almost
consider turning the lights off because the party is over and here we go again.
And you do that being mindful of Johnny Goodrow and everything else that they've got under wraps
in Columbus.
So I'm not suggesting there should be a fit for Craig Conray with Yarmot Kickaline.
I'm just, in doing my scouring of the league, I happened into the Columbus situation yesterday
morning.
And we've talked a bit about Columbus historically, but it's about Peek and Boquist and
Roslovick and guys like that, not some of the bigger names.
like, you know, Olivier, Texier, like names like that, that might draw a bit of an audience.
So I don't see a fit with Calgary, but we'll see.
Is Keck Aline and the guy that's going to be doing that?
I know the Mike Madcock thing did not go over well, and it felt like this is almost the last straw between performance and everything else.
Yarmu's been there a long time.
I just wonder how late the clock.
The clock is kind of ticking there, it feels like.
I get it.
And so one of the few questions that I hate having to.
ask. Not about job security. I mean, every general manager is hired, every coach is hired to be
fired. I mean, it's inevitable. It happens some sooner than later in Babcock's case in record-setting
time. So the question that I don't like to ask, I ask, does Yarmo have the authority to make
trades between now and the March 8 trade deadline? Because most people who have paid attention,
not close attention,
have paid a little bit of attention
and Columbus can recognize
it's time for different leadership there.
It sounds like they want to wait until the off season.
So if you're waiting until the off season,
but you don't necessarily have confidence in management,
then the follow-up question has to be,
does he have the authority?
And I'm told that he does.
Hey, you know, part of me wants to give the Columbus ownership
credit there too, right?
because loyalty can be razor thin in pro sport, major league sport.
You know, we're reminded of this almost on a monthly basis.
And ownership of the Columbus Blue Jackets, senior management have been unbelievably patient
and loyal to Yarmu over the years.
Were you, I guess, how surprised were you?
I think we were all kind of surprised.
Lou Lamarillo is the king of keeping things under wraps.
And then Patrick Wai has trotted out as his new head coach.
Did you have any inkling or did you see that coming and what do you make of the fit?
Didn't have an inkling that Lou and Papua were connected.
No, did not.
There had been growing speculation around Lane Lambert Fair or unfair.
There just there was that.
And again, it kind of fits under the old adage.
You can't fire the players.
So, you know, the Islanders can't afford to just let this season go up and smoke.
and Lou is one who the wily old veteran likes to gather opinion,
but at the end of the day,
the only opinion that matters is his.
And he's not worried about hurting feelings.
So Lane, you had your shot, you were promoted from being an assistant to the head coach,
didn't work out, no hard feelings.
Also wasn't surprised at Patrick Guas resurfaces as an NHL head coach.
The two together, yeah, surprises me because,
Lou manages his way a certain way, but he expects everyone under that umbrella to toe the line.
Players, coaches, equipment managers, bus drivers, everybody has to play by his rules, no doubt.
And that doesn't strike me as being Patrick was strong suit.
I mean, keep in mind, he didn't like the direction of the Colorado Avalanche.
So he just said, yeah, I'm out.
I quit.
I'm done.
You know, it's not like he was let go because they were shoddy.
He just didn't like the direction, you know?
Yeah, it just, you know, he took his net and went home.
So, but the speculation around Patrick Guas has been persistent.
You know, I think, and I'm not very good in translating French,
so I want to be careful about this.
I think Michael Ann Lauer was on Montreal Radio or Quebec Radio recently,
maybe as quick as recent as the hiring of what with the New York.
calendars. And I got the impression that he was saying, geez, I feel like I missed that one.
And not for now. I mean, Jackman has the interim head coach of the Ottawa senators.
But I think he may have been hoping that Patrick Gwa was going to stay unemployed from an
NHL standpoint until the offseason. So people have talked about them over the years, no doubt.
Well, and it's interesting because a lot of teams are going to get an interim to finish the year.
And this was unique because Lou is just like, no, like if he's our guy, let's get him in
now. And I wonder if that isn't part of what And Lawler was talking about, which is like,
why even go to the interim? Like, what kind of message are you sending the players? Like,
here's a guy that's just going to hold the Ford. And then we'll get the real guy with the real
systems that we're going to win with down. Like, why not just get that guy? Or was it just,
they didn't have them ready? Well, that seems to be what makes most sense to me. And I,
you know, again, I'm in a reference, Craig Barubei, who I'm surprised, frankly, is still unemployed.
You know, given the success story that he is, how he turned the blues around, and then you look at where he might be a good fit, not firing Todd McCollum, but that has to be a conversation in L.A.
You know, there's been enough speculation here in Toronto about Sheldon Keefe and what his future looks like.
And then you've got the Ottawa situation and the connection of Dave Boulin, who would be the highest character reference that Craig Berube could have.
And yet they're still going with Jacques Martans, their interim coach.
So they obviously have somebody in their crosshairs.
And if it was Pat Proqua, all right, he's not available.
John Gruden's name is consistently out there and attached to the Ottawa Senators.
He's the head coach of the Toronto Marley's.
But I'm kind of with you.
You know, there's some danger in playing that game with the interim head coach.
Because, you know, what if Toronto just says, no, you know, we're not giving.
it in permission to speak to you.
The original arrival.
Yeah, you know what?
And if John Gurdon is that good of a coach,
and by all accounts he is,
maybe there are other teams around the national hockey league.
Maybe Toronto wants to look at him.
I doubt it. But I mean, those are scenarios that can be problematic
when you've got an interim guy on your bench.
We were discussing earlier the hit last night,
Jonathan Huberto caught Jack Rossovic.
Whenever you're busted wide open, it doesn't help your cause.
And Ross Lovic was.
And he was tossed from the game.
So we're kind of curious.
We're monitoring things to see if there's going to be a hearing or a suspension.
There will be a suspension to Brendan Gallagher.
What do you make of that hit?
It was deliberate.
And that's as bad as one as we've seen.
I agree.
Which is not really his MO.
But it's nasty.
And I'm very curious what this is going to get.
Well, and look, there's so many different things and factors that go into, you know, establishing supplemental discipline.
Time of the game. So this is a third period hit. You know, what is Gallagher trying to do there by raising that elbow up to that point where it catches Adam Pollock just square in the face?
Now, Gallagher does not have a history. Was there an injury on the play? I think it's pretty obvious. To what extent, I'm sure George Peros is trying to define.
out. All I can tell you, and you guys probably share the same opinion here, I've done a variety
of different interviews today, starting this morning with Carlo Coliaco in Toronto. He thought it was a 10
game suspension. I mean, I think that's ridiculous. I didn't think it was 10. I absolutely felt
he was in the 5 to 7 category. Ferraro on our podcast, Randriggs, pegged it as an eight game
suspension. And so here's what we know. We know that the Department of Player's Safety is
called a conference called hearing. So they did not offer Brendan Gallagher an in-person hearing,
which he declined. No. So they cannot suspend him for more than five games. So I, that seems wild
to me. Me too. Because you can always have the in-person hearing and decide it's four,
but you can't call the guy and give him six. Like, why would you limit yourself here? That's a
dirty bleeping hit. Well, and I'm always, you know, I always chuckle when people say, well,
you know, they got to get that hit out of the game. That hit hasn't been in the game for 40 years.
Yeah. That's true. Honestly, like, you know, you do that back of the Scott Stevens era and there were
repercussions. I'm not saying you would have got a six, seven game suspension, but there would have been
some sort of reaction to it. So I don't know. I guess, you know, we're going to find out because the
the decision will be made today because the Montreal Canadians play tomorrow.
But I, you know, I don't often, I listen to every single one of the videos that are presented
by the Department of Player's Safety because I want to understand what their methodology is.
I don't remember the last time I look forward to listening to the explanation more than
I'm looking forward to this one.
Because I don't normally don't care.
And I look, it doesn't matter to me if Brendan Gallagher gets suspended three games or 10 games,
this one just doesn't pass the sniff test.
You know, and I'm not, I'm this, I don't clutch my pearls or anything.
I don't really.
And I also, I also don't really care either.
That's the other thing.
But the, like you say, this is, this, there was, this is not a body check gone wrong.
This is not a slow it down and see does, does he move at the last minute?
This was deliberate intent to injure.
And to his credit, he hit him right on the button.
I didn't miss.
He didn't miss.
So yeah, I was kind of with you.
It feels like more than five.
10's heavy.
So, I mean, there's a big range in there.
but it's kind of a little sloppy,
but that's where it felt like to me anyway.
Did you see the Hubert O one, Dregs?
What was your first reaction to that?
Well, when you see the damage,
so that's the part that I always struggle with.
And I'm hesitant to give a raw opinion
because what I do, I didn't see it live.
I did not see it live.
I saw the replay that we're seeing here.
And you can see the reaction from Hubert O,
and he's like, ah, geez.
And I mean, it's probably a combination of things.
He probably thinks that it was oversold a little bit.
that he didn't catch him square in the numbers,
but it kind of, you know,
it's, it's not a good hit.
It's not a good hit.
It's a hit that has to be avoided,
and there's got to be significant penalty on that play.
But when you watch it live,
it doesn't look as bad as when you watch it on replay.
My gut instinct was,
yeah, that's,
I mean,
that's up the flagpole of supplemental discipline
and the Department of Player Safety.
Is it suspendable?
Well, I don't even want to,
I would say,
It's borderline.
It's right on the line.
But given what we just saw in the video here of Gallagher,
taking O'Pellick,
and it being maximum five,
I don't know.
That's the problem we have with Department of Player's Safety.
It's just like case to case.
It just feels like spin the wheel of justice.
We always jokes.
Like it's just,
oh, these are comparable.
No, they're not apparently.
And well,
this is two.
How is this for?
And the other thing is we don't know the status of Roslovick,
but that's part of the formula, right?
because that happened halfway through the third period.
If he misses games of the conkey,
it's a lot easier to sit him down for one or two.
Remind me, David Perron, just,
how many games did he get for that hit against the Redway?
Five or six.
Yeah, it was in that range,
but I don't, yeah, I don't remember up the top of my head.
Like, I mean, these things are all flooding back
because we have this conversation.
And I'm like, okay, it's not the same hit.
But at the end of the day, David Perron,
who's been nothing but a high character player.
It was six.
How many?
It was six pender?
Yeah.
That's Jack up there.
And I described it at the time as an attacking play.
And boy, did I get an earful from those close to David Peron?
We'll leave it at that.
But now I under it.
Now the guy who yelled at me, I can appreciate his frustration when I look at that hit in Montreal
and go, well, he's getting less than David Perango.
Like what's happening here?
Yeah, that's the word variable too.
It's the whole stick as a weapon thing.
Yeah.
I mean, if that isn't the, that to me feels like it deserves the, whatever, the biggest number of, like the, the heaviest salary of the season.
I can't imagine that we're going to see one that looks more violent than that.
I did want to ask you.
And it's kind of putting you on the spot.
And I mean, for me, I kind of need to look at the standings.
But as we hit to the All Star break here, is there a team that's kind of been, they've been just, they're okay.
they're in the mix, but maybe is poised to turn things up in the second half.
Maybe a team we haven't talked about.
I just look at the Dallas stars.
They were without Ottinger for so long.
Heiskenen is back into the lineup.
And still they're right there in that central, which is that's saying something.
We're Colorado, Winnipeg.
We're gushing them with praise.
We're not saying a thing about Dallas.
And they're at one point back.
They're right there.
Vegas, they haven't had all of those guys.
They've had guys in and out of that lineup.
They're right there.
Pacific. I just wonder who, as you look
across the league, who's treaded
water and done a hell of a job through injuries
or whatever kind of adversity
that could be turning things off in the second half?
Yeah, well, Vegas would be that
team for me, whether they're capable
of turning it up with all the injuries that they
have is going to be dependent
on how quickly some of these guys can
come back. And without
knowing this, and I trust, you know,
management of the Vegas Golden Knights
because they don't know it. It does feel
like something is
trending towards Kelly McCrman having the ability to make a big decision on Martite,
right?
Because somebody will be placed on LTIR,
who isn't available,
won't be ready until the playoffs.
So now he's magically going to have that money to spend.
And Kelly never leaves the gun in the holster.
So he's coming out with something.
If he's got the ability to do that,
which will,
you know,
that should be,
could be a big boost of the Vegas Golden Knights.
Dallas is an interesting read for me.
So the Dallas stars had three pro scouts at their game in Montreal less than a week ago.
Was it on the weekend?
And we made a big deal of it here in the East and media because normally, and GMs laugh
when we start talking about the scouts attending games because scouts pre-scheduled.
Well, I understand that, but teams do not send three pro scouts to a single game.
They've got something identified.
Dallas is looking for a defenseman.
That was the Ottawa Montreal game.
I don't think they've got the wherewithal to take a run at Jake Chikern out of Ottawa.
So I'm looking at maybe Mike Matheson, David Savard, maybe.
Eric Bransstrom does not seem like a Dallas star to me.
But if they can bolster their blue line in Dallas, that team is always pesky to play.
play against. It was so well coached. So those are two teams for sure in the West that are
worth higher attention. And I'd sort of the similar thought out east. I look at Tampa and New
Jersey who have, you know, they missed Vasilevsky for a long time and things weren't quite right now.
They're starting to climb. And, you know, Jersey and Carolina started a goaltending too.
Those, those teams kind of feel under the radar. Anything there? Yeah. Well, New Jersey is definitely
going to do something. You know, Tom Fitzgerald has been scouring the league looking.
looking again for help on defense.
You know, he's got his 7, 8, 9, and 10 guys playing in the National Hockey League right now.
So they need some help there.
It's game-by-game goaltending for the New Jersey Devils.
You know, let's see when that goalie market pops.
You know, I'd be shocked if Fitsy and Craig Conroy aren't having consistent conversation
about the potential of a Markstrom fit.
I don't know that.
I'm just saying that that makes a lot of sense because the one thing that Fitsy was concerned about
in having trade negotiations with Winnipeg in the offseason on Connor Hullabuck was what is that extension going to look like?
And they just they couldn't afford it.
So it really didn't go anywhere.
But they knew then they needed an upgrading goal.
And now more than ever, they know that they need an upgrade in goal.
So who is that going to be?
You know, is San Jose McKenzie Blackwood's not going back to New Jersey.
but all it takes normally is for one piece to go,
and then the others will kind of follow.
Tampa Bay is always a unique study
because Julian Breeze was as good as it gets
among NHL general managers at or around the trade deadline
in utilizing whatever future assets he has
to just make sure that his team is as well equipped
as they can be to not make the playoffs,
to again charge for a Stanley Cup.
And what the Florida Panthers did last season, guys,
I think that's fueled a lot of teams.
You know, the appetite, like, hey, we just got to get in.
We get in and we've made the upgrade and we're good here and we're good here.
Let's not worry about being the eight seat.
Let's just make sure that we've ticked a few boxes
because we can get that momentum flowing.
So those three teams are going to be key to watch in the East.
You've mentioned Marksstrom a couple of times.
and I find because we do this thing every day
and we feel, okay,
Lindholm is, yeah, that's a Tanev, that sort of thing.
And then it's, well, what about Markstrom?
Well, we don't, well, no one knows.
He's got a no move.
He's got term left on his contract.
That's hard to move.
But I think they would eat money if the deal's right.
And there's, there's no doubt that of all the players we talk about,
no one, I think, would make a greater impact for the team that gets him.
And no trade would have a greater haul for the flames.
It would be a blockbuster.
But we don't spend a whole lot of time on it because it could be much ado about nothing.
And complicated.
So you guys tell me, I don't know this.
You know, does Markstrom have children?
Just at his first last spring.
Start playing well after the first arrived.
Yeah.
Okay.
So he's got complications in his life.
And, you know, especially players who are protected with.
the no trade, no moves and all of that,
they run the show.
They 100% run the show.
And managers are sensitive,
not because of the trade protection,
about life and the upheaval and all of that.
There will be a conversation with Jacob Markstrom
if it hasn't already happened between now and March 8,
especially if Calgary continues to drift back.
I mean,
it feels like every week we keep talking about the next couple of games for the flames,
the next couple of, you know,
let's see how they do here.
Let's see.
Well, last night was not a good indication of the direction that the flames are going in here.
What are they, six, seven points out of a wildcard spot.
Yeah.
They won four in a row and then they lost four in a row.
So you start to think they can and then, no, no, no, they can't.
So it feels like, you know, if it hasn't happened yet, it will after the All-Star,
soon after the All-Star, where Conroy is going to have a level of interest.
the teams that are legit interested in Marksum.
And he's going to go to the agent, Newport,
or directly to the player and say,
you're in the driver's seat.
What do you want to do?
Are you interested in us furthering conversations
with team X, Y, and Z?
And if Jacob says, yeah, I'm interested.
I want to play.
I want to go to a contending team
because I want to chase the Stanley Cup.
Well, then then discussions turn to.
to negotiations and likely he gets traded.
Until that happens, I'm in the other camp that thinks that this is more likely an
offseason thing, if at all.
And that would fit the family thing too.
It's tough to move on days notice and leave, you know, wife and newborn rather than,
okay, we've got a full summer to do this.
Could this be a draft week thing?
That is the other window.
We see huge deals.
It's deadline and then leading into the draft, right?
Agreed.
Agreed.
So, you know, definitely it's, this is where we strong.
in the world of creating these trade bait graphics and lists and all of that.
Because how can you not have Mark Sherbin's name on that graphic?
But if you knew 100% he was in play, he'd be top five.
I was going to say, how do you put him on there and then not have him at the top or near
the top?
100%.
And he might be a hard no on even getting dealt anyway.
You're going in blind, right?
So guys like me who, you know, my job is to separate fact from fiction.
And I fight the guys at TSN all the time because and not the other insiders, you know, the producers who want to sell these sexy names, all these graphics because we've got to create an entertainment package.
I'm like, okay, hold on a sec, but I honestly don't think he's getting created.
So there's a negotiation at our level as to where we put these players on the list.
So one will keep an eye on.
Oh, you're smooth.
See, whether it's with agents or, you know, you're that guy.
You're that guy in Toronto, some guy in Toronto.
No, you find a way to get it.
It's why my hair is as gray as it is.
You're a good boy, Dregs.
Appreciate you.
Have a great week, Mel.
Yeah, you too.
Thanks.
There is.

There you go.
That's Darren Dregger.
Now, are you with me there?
Do you like this Markstrom chat?
I do.
You just hear Mark,
well, Drake's brought up Markstrom.
And I'm not trying to put Dr.
But we are there, right?
That I don't, do we even bother talking about Markstrom?
Well, I don't know if we should.
It feel now again, we do it every day, so we had lots of time.
But it's, it's the biggest deal the team could make.
It probably is.
But it's also probably, it feels like the furthest one away from actually happening.
I think a Haniff and one could be comparable, Dino,
because of the minutes he can play and how young he is,
but I think it's in the same neighborhood.
They're both blockbusters if they happen.
Lindholm, you'd hope could have been that,
but not what the season he's having.
I think it's a less fruitful one,
but still a solid deal.
And Tannav, he is what he is.
He's an expiring rental who's 35.
So, look, my one thought I keep having on Markstrom is,
there's no guarantee he looks this good next year.
None whatsoever.
you go year by year in Calgary, it is not steady eddy.
It's pretty volatile, which isn't him necessarily.
It's goalies.
But selling a guy when he's on is the entire name of the game for asset management.
And that doesn't mean it has to happen now.
But this is the deadline where he's worth the most.
And this summer leading into the draft will be the summer he's worth the most.
If he's here in October, it feels like a missed opportunity.
It doesn't mean he can't trade him.
But I just have a tough time thinking he'd be worth more next year.
I'm not going to disagree with you.
And if you get to the off season and you've missed the playoffs again,
and you feel like Dustin Wolf is a guy and that,
you know, that your goaltending tandem would be.
I, it's hard to,
but it comes down to Markstrom.
Like Drake said, what does he want to do?
I don't know.
The whole talk was when he came here,
he and Lindholm are buddies.
That's how it came to me.
They wanted to play together.
Not say they're going to play together again, but if his buddy's leaving, then that's maybe one less thing that has him tied.
And he came here to win.
They were in a contention window.
They aren't now.
I don't know Jacob at all, but chatting with some people in his universe, didn't, no one thought this would be a big sticking point.
That if the team arrives at a spot where it's clear they're not competitive, he is incredibly competitive and wants to win.
They're not winning the cup the next two years.
Like we talked about it last night.
The best case scenario is like three, four, five.
years you could have a really competitive club again.
He's gone. He's late 30s. He might not be in the league. This is it for Jacob
Markstrom to try to win. He's wired to win. You watch how hot he gets out there.
This isn't a yeah, I show up. I happen to be good at hockey. He burns. That's a guy that
wants to win. I don't think there'll be any issue with him waving. And if the flames will eat money
and I do it feels like they're they're poised to do that. Make him a $4 million goalie. Are you
kidding me? And I don't know how, like, I just, I just looked at the, uh, at the roster. Now,
the New Jersey devils are, are outside of the playoff picture, because Greg's brought them up.
Yeah. Um, but they have been trotting out Nico Dawes and it's, not only do they need a guy like
Mark, they need NHL caliber goaltending. And then Markstrom would be a treat on top of that to have a borderline
or potential elite goaltender. It's got to be, you're, you're really looking.
at the rest of your club there and be like this is a
disservice to everybody in this locker room if I
don't try and upgrade the goaltend.
Totally. And didn't Lindy,
rough, go through that in Dallas that one year
where they had one hell of a squad and the goaltending
couldn't stop. And I want to say.
Changing multiple times
during a game changing goalies.
I don't know what to do.
What are you today? Are you,
are you good today or are you no good
today? Just let me know. I think it
was Nehemi and Lettinent. Am I right?
Yeah, that's what it was. Because the flames were
tied to that. Chris Russell went to Dallas
that year. And if they got to the Western
Conference final or through it or whatever it was,
it went from a second to a first. And there they were in
game seven with no fucking gold
ending. And it ends up being a
second round or not a first. And you're like, oh,
if Dallas had goalies,
Chris Russell would have got you at first. That
would have been something.
New Jersey is one.
And we've talked about Carolina.
We've mentioned it on the show yesterday.
Grabbed Spencer Martin off
waivers from Columbus. I don't
don't know what Frederick Anderson's health situation is, but it feels like even at his best,
is he a guy that you've, that yeah, he can, he can take us four rounds deep. I don't know.
But outside of that, I don't know how many suitors would there realistically be for a team that
needs high level goaltending and is poised for a run potentially. L.A., Toronto, Carolina,
Jersey. That's four teams that have huge expectations coming into the season on them.
All of them need more stability in that. L.A.'s actually gotten it, but I think we understand
that it's kind of a bit of a mirage there. Like Dave Ridditch is pitching a 9-43 here with the injuries
they've had. That's not who he is. Cam Talbot had a lovely start. That's not who he's been
his whole career. But all those teams would be like, yeah, we could definitely upgrade our
goaltending. And as we always talked about last summer, you get someone to give you 930,
net mining for a month, why not you playing in the Stanley Cup final?
Connie.
Connie sitting there.
Oh,
I don't know what we should do.
I don't want to hurt his feelings or anything.
We really like the guy.
I would love to be at some of those conversations between him and Iggy or him and whoever else is sounding board is.
I'll tell you what, though, in the conversations I've had with Craig, I don't, it doesn't, I'm not worried.
like we have fun because he is he's a super nice guy but you know what he also is he's a competitor
and he wants to win and there is another side to conway that i think a lot of fans don't know right
you would have seen it that it's not all you know rainbows and flowers yeah he's a nice guy
but he wants to win he's not going to get screwed over here because because he's super nice
to somebody no it's a ridiculous thing to even consider he's worked his ass off to be where he's at
he works his ass off to have a good career he knows the game
He knows what, you know what I mean?
I think he's pretty smart about the situation the flames are in.
And I think he's a great talent evaluator, Rhett.
Like that's his strength.
He was excited to get to Moncton to watch the top prospects game.
Like that's, it's in his blood.
He does love that party.
And he said it at the time and he said it to us off air, if you want to call it that,
is that it's important to me.
I don't want to be a GM that sits in draft time.
When we're at the draft sitting in the room and I don't really
know who these guys are, how I feel about them.
I'm taking everybody's word on it.
I need to see these guys so I can feel good in my gut about making a trade or making
a back.
So he's got trust issues.
Yeah.
It's horrible delegators.
Yeah.
No, but we were there in Nashville at the draft and they select Hansick in the first round.
And Connie, who was then the GM, but the assistant GM for the bulk of that season, talked a ton
about the viewings he had, games where the game was and what he saw.
off from Hansik in terms of okay, they were out of it.
But he kept going and pulled them back in.
And, you know, that's a very important thing for him is to not just read reports,
but to be in a rink and see context of the box score, right?
Markstrom.
Do we want a Markstrom deal?
Because if there's other deals at the deadline, that'll give us stuff to talk about.
But then if they wait until summer, then that gives us something to talk.
Guys, guys.
Spread out the content.
Would you like to see this team pick in the top five?
it's a slam dunk if they trade Markstrom.
How many points has he stolen since November?
Well, he wasn't very good last night.
No, but you know what?
There's guys that can give you not very good last night the rest of the way here.
Dustin Wolf's an incredible prospect.
We don't know what he is at the NHL level.
And if we're being reasonable, you've got to give him a couple of years to find his feet in this league.
UC Saros is a phenomenal goal of what, second invesant of voting in the last few years here?
like it took him years to take the torch from the big tall
finished necklider who upset pecorina and like he's the call-up for this guy he's a
smaller and stature phenomenal athlete goalie you can't expect this guy to walk in and
be pat roy carrying a team to the final that year like you have to give this time this guy
time to figure out the league well there you go that's where we sit a couple things here
before we get to the Pinder report.
On social media, we've been, we're going to, you know,
on Monday, we'll announce a winner.
The hearing loss clinic, good friends of ours,
they have, they've been supplying us, it's been awesome.
They've been supplying us with giveaways and jerseys and whatnot.
And the one that is up right now there,
you see it, Cadeem Cary of the Stampeeters,
autographed jersey.
We've got an autographed football there as well,
but you have to get on social media.
That's how you win.
So you can go to our social media,
Flames Nation.
find the direction from there.
But it's at the hearing loss on X,
at the hearing loss clinic on Instagram.
You need to be following them.
They pump out a lot of content,
a lot of good stuff.
Maybe they'll convince you
that you need to go and have your hearing assessed
like they did for me
and how my life has come around.
Just a much different,
far more perky than jovial.
Right?
Anyway, that jersey could be yours.
So get to get into your social media
and be following.
hearing loss clinic and you could be a winner.
We'll give that away next week.
So there is that.
Save the date.
I mentioned this two days ago.
It is coming.
We've been,
there have been some,
we've had phone conversations.
There have been emails.
There have been texts going on.
The Bolorama is back.
Coming on February 29th.
Yes, not a typo.
Leap year.
Feb 29, the, well, I guess it's the inaugural barn burner bolorama.
But we have done this before.
Retros came to Calgary, did a couple of these and they are, for me,
it's been one of the best things that we've ever done or that I've ever attended.
It doesn't, it doesn't take all day.
You're not exhausted.
You roll, you have a seat, have something to eat, have some drinks, have some laughs, lots of people,
celebrities milling around and raising money for kids sport.
Fantastic.
So that's coming up, you know, let's do it.
Feb 29, we'll be opening this up.
register now. Next week is when we're going to throw this thing wide open, just putting the final
touches on it. We expect it to sell out with fingers crossed, not presumptuous, but we expect
that there's a finite number of lanes. We expect it to be a sellout. So be ready to jump in next week.
Nationgear.ca is the website that we will be taking registrations at. Yeah. And if you're interested
in sponsorship opportunities, give us a call. We'll get you in ahead of next week and secure that team for
you. Jarrod at the nation network.com. Jarrodd. At

He's a different,
different little guy, but, you know,
he's the Wolverine.
He'll get you on.
He's not normal.
Yeah.
He'll get you hooked up here.
He'll get you hooked up.
Let's take a look at the Pinder report.
I'm never sure.
It's like, now it's time for dumb stuff.
Okay.
Well, is it going to make me laugh?
Is it going to make me cringe?
Am I going to puke?
What's it going to be?
No Pug.
Village Honda presents the Pinder report.

and performance. The 2024 Civic received a 10 out of 10

Blue Jackets and two
Very handsome fellows broke it down.
Let's go to Afterburner for some...
You missed Marty Paws more than you thought you'd miss a guy you never knew would be in the NHL this year when we talked in August.
You're missing that moxie.
And then, I know, Dennis Gilbert isn't as in your face, but there's another guy.
Where is the piss and vinegar in this group right now?
There isn't much.
There's some vets that go about their business, but who are they game planning for if you're the other team?
Like, really?
What the hell is on the fucking whiteboard if you're the Columbus Blue Jack is tonight?
It's one of those, well, these guys can be okay.
And this line can do a little bit of this.
And this line will kind of go about it at this base.
But there's nothing where you're like, oh, boy, are we going to handle this?
Two things there.
They missed the rat.
Secondly, who's afraid to come into the Saddle Dome right now?
Dean.
Yeah, more than two things.
There was a few things in there that I enjoy.
Yes, I guess you were talking about pospice.
I was focused on something else.
It was just the energy and the body language.
It was really good.
I like that.
But you're not wrong.
You can put somebody else in that spot,
but no, there's no, there's no snap.
And even I think it was at a point where some teams were saying,
now keep an eye on this kid.
He's got the visor.
He's running around.
Just make sure you're aware.
Even if that wasn't the case,
he might stir some stuff up when you didn't expect it.
It's like, oh, this is what it's going to be.
And that can raise the temperature in the building.
Totally.
Not a lot of that.
Well, I mean, Huberto, I guess, did his part last night.
But kind of the wrong way, Dean.
They were one goal away from being in that thing.
And then it was, oh, five minute major.
Not ideal.
We'll see if there's any news on that as the day progresses regarding any chats with
department player safety, a fine suspension or nothing at all.
Inverse standings, looking a lot better, fellas.
All of a sudden, tied for seven.
They've only traded Zadorov, Dean, only.
That's it.
Come on, Minnie.
Although you could argue that maybe they'd be further down if they'd have kept
Zadora because he is a roller coaster.
Yeah, I don't know if the...
Austerly has done a hell of a job.
Australia has done a hell of.
Yeah, he has.
Big shoes to fill, but he somehow.
It's be a clown.
Okay.
Oliver Shillington did return last night,
which was, you know,
hopefully that's what we remember about last night
because the rest was pretty miserable.
Standing ovation,
everyone was jacked and we had some visuals for you here.
Oh, we don't.
Okay.
Sorry, we played some last night after Burner.
I know RJ had said he'd got some better stuff there.
We've got some on social.
Good to see him back.
Anything else?
That boy, Ollie.
No, it's good.
It's good for everybody.
Good for him.
Hope that,
good for the flames.
What do they have?
13, 14 minutes last night, kind of easing them in.
Awesome.
Started with Tanna, ended up with Austerly.
I know which one of those pairs I prefer.
We heard the, we saw the Hubert O hit.
We'll wait and see on that.
We heard the Huska quote, our penalty kill, more dangerous than our power play right now.
That's not a good thing.
He didn't need to tell us that, but we have been joking about it for a while.
And we know it's not a good thing.
We've also kind of taken a club to Mark Savard's,
power play here already today as well.
I don't know that we need to go back down that track.
Ryan Pike.
Sorry.
No, I said probably not.
And that gap between power play goals and short-handed goals given up continues to get,
gets a little bit smaller.
So congrats to the flames on another shorty allowed.
And we're talking like hours of power play time now, like over a full game.
And it's like, yeah, you know, the penalty killers can keep it close.
Maybe the power play wins by one.
Like, what are we talking about here?
They go weeks.
They go weeks between power to the goals.
Yay!
AJ Greer.
We showed it on Afterburner last night.
It's not for those who,
so we'll just, we'll read the quote.
Off date today. Don't expect an update.
And Pike also noting that the Wranglers have totally
been rated. This forward
ranks has just been pillaged of late.
I don't know that they'll have 12 healthy forwards
on Saturday if Hubertos suspended.
it. That's, I'm a little surprised to see a Friday day off with the
Alstambrick. I'm sure it was scheduled in there some way somehow, but they have to
have a certain number of month. So it would have been done like in August.
But five of six on the homestland in August too, though. It's yeah. Anyway, um, that the
career one, that's high ankle, that's broken ankle. That's severely sprained ankle bad.
It's a guy could have been an asset at the deadline. And now you,
you know, maybe you could say, hey, he'll be healthy in a month, but that sucks.
And we talked about it last night.
That could, you're just glad it's not TANF because that's the guy that skates around.
You're worried about him going to hurt every night.
Yeah.
It was another nice fine for the flames.
Of the things that we talk about, it's been the Sharon Govich to Foley swap.
That's worked out really, really well for them.
I think the Greer has been a guy that's been consistent.
He's, and I don't know that it's an easy job.
everyone would do at red we it's easy to say just go out there and crash and forecheck he got goals he's
had energy he's done it's fought here there same quite frankly where just plucked off the waiver wire
and not off not all waiver wire claims have been impactful that's what i was going to say
is ruzich going to be as impactful off the waiver wire for arizona like it's not a it's not a
regular occurrence guys get picked up but it doesn't always turn into something
hopefully he get enough this year to at least get himself that contract for,
you know, moving forward that teams there's enough game film from this year to impress a GM out there.
Maybe there's one in Calgary that's impressed to give him another contract, but we'll see.
We will move.
What do we know about the Hawks?
Chicago's coming in.
It's their next opponent.
It's tomorrow night.
It's the final game before the All-Star break.
Well, last night they were in Edmonton.
So I guess what we know about the Hawks is that, yeah.
The Oilers have won 15 in a row, but that's really not that impressive.
Try losing 19 straight on the road.
Losing 19 straight on the road.
They scored 10 goals in their last nine games per Mark Lazarus.
And it was Calvin in net for the Oilers, right?
It was not Skinner.
I believe it was Calvin.
And this was before last night.
That's how ugly it is.
They're averaging less than two goals a game, four and a half against, power play,
worse than the flames on the year.
Penalty killed below 70.
They haven't won on the road since November 9th.
And if that sounds somewhat familiar,
it's because it might be, Dean,
the Columbus Blue Jacks hadn't had a regulation win since December 19th.
And they were just here yesterday.
Yeah.
So if you think last night was rock bottom,
there is a chance it's not.
And Chicago had that rare win back earlier this month against the flames.
Yeah, that was at home where they've been not 19 losses.
The Gallagher hit, we talked about it.
We showed it with Darren Dregger.
Ugly, elbow right to the button.
And look at him.
He's got him tracked the whole way.
It's eyes on him and, like, what are we doing?
That's not a guy coming across the blue line.
They click knees or.
I can't believe he even put his hand out afterwards.
Like, what?
What?
What?
What?
Yeah.
What?
happened earlier in that shift or what precipitated that because that's what could happen that makes
that okay that's what i'm doing by design yes very much on purpose de deliberate uh we got some more
outdoor games for you i'll give you a guess but you won't know where it is and who's playing
great pittsburgh
nashbara rangers flyers islanders devil like we're somewhere in new york
Subway's going on here.
You got the vibe?
Okay.
What's the stadium series?
I know it's coming up.
So, Feb 17 and 18, if my dates are correct, there'll be two NHL games, back-to-back days.
And I like the little rival race we got here.
It's always good when you can get Rangers Islanders and Philly Devils.
Like in years prior, those are bottom dwellers.
Those are both teams with playoff aspirations.
That should be fun.
And again, Feb 17 and 18.
All right.
I know you guys like the drip.
so I had to show you the unis.
They didn't give you a much of a look there.
Go back to that last image.
Jack just flashed it real quick.
Sneaky.
They're being kind of devious.
Yeah.
You're going to get you excited.
It's a tease.
Yeah.
Go back to that headline, Jack.
Still, there we are.
So those are zoomed out a bit, but you can see.
Okay.
The vibes on them.
It's tough because the flyers have been to a hundred outdoor games and have needed a hundred
alternate jerseys.
And they're a jersey that they don't tweak a lot.
Like they'll have little small things here or there.
So that it's at least true to the Flyers brand.
They're going all crazy here with something that doesn't look like the original.
That's good.
Devils they go with yellow.
We've done that.
Black?
Yeah.
Done.
A light?
We're in white all the time anyway.
Oh, did I ask about black?
Yeah, just move on.
Next.
Isles and Rangers going big font on the front.
Actually, not people, not a lot of people like the owls ones.
I think those are all right.
I appreciate it because of my eyesight.
I know who I'm looking at right there.
Yep.
yeah that's the aisles and the NYRs
nyer yeah
nyer oh and tippet got a deal
fellas he's having a monster year with the flyers
nice little pickup remember when
Billy's hands were tied
claude drew wants to go to Florida
we're screwed they had to settle for a first
and tippet
that's a rental
I think that's what the deal was
yeah that's okay you're gonna be all right
50 million bucks
that's how good he's been
and from people that watch him more than I do.
Good paycheck for him.
Could be a real good value deal for the Flyers.
Win, win, let's go.
NHL tonight, what are we looking at, fellas?
Not a lot, but some doozies in here.
Vegas against the Rangers.
I love that.
That could be your Stanley Cup final.
Those are two teams with Stanley Cup aspirations.
Penguins are on the outside looking in.
They get the Panthers who are a bunch of grease bowl.
Will William Lockwood, do you see the latest?
Like it's, it's Cousins, it's Gajovic,
it's the Lomburgeney, it's Kachuk,
it's now Lockwood running over Marker,
Under Flurry. They're the most hated team in the league now.
The Panthers have got the mantle, boys, I'm sorry.
Well, if you're going to lean into it.
Exactly. That's your thing, then own it.
Wrett tonight at 9 Eastern.
I'll have his Dubois jersey on as the Kings play Colorado.
That's his favorite guy right now.
Can't wait.
And then what, Seattle was one of the teams in the nightcap.
We'll get to some of that stuff later on.
Yeah, they got the blues.
Maybe one of those teams might even make the playoffs.
How about that?
Okay, NFL, we go.
Oh, sorry, we got some crazy shit happened in Europe.
We've got to get to first.
If you didn't like the Brendan Gallagher one,
I want your thoughts on this one here.
Blindside.
Blindside.
Oh, my.
Keep watching.
And then he's better.
And so must he get help.
And then he'll have,
excuse me.
Excuse me.
Glode, you're at the wrong bench.
Oh, give him a hot.
He's in La La Land there, Dino.
That's not, that's not Wesleyan support.
That's Wesleyan.
They don't like it.
He's cuckoo for cocoa puffs right there.
Where am I?
He is Cukarici and the capusta.
Are you my mother?
Holy.
Wrong bench, buddy.
Okay, NFL.
Are we excited?
There's three games last.
Yes.
Okay, there it is.
That was the field.
We're down to four.
Are you fine with that bracket?
Is there some bracket?
This bracket does make sense.
There are better ones.
It's a little non-traditional,
but it's not a bracket error.
We'll let it fly for sure.
Are you sure Buffalo didn't get through?
I'm going to say they're black and white there.
Is that mean?
The team's black and white gun,
are they wearing some different jersees?
They reseed after the wild card round.
That's why it's confusing there.
Yeah.
And you're right.
Buffalo didn't get through.
It'll be Kansas City of Baltimore.
1 p.m. on Sunday.
They are favored by four.
That line moving was at three and a half yesterday.
And San Francisco, what was that, a touchdown?
Now it's, uh, I saw seven and a half.
Is it back to seven now?
Keep an eye on that way.
Seven.
Seven, okay.
It may still move prior to kickoff, of course.
So keep your eye on your bit way up.
That's right. That's right.
So bills and lions fans got together before, uh, the bills lost.
I don't know why the lion fan was there.
Let's just watch.
This is very bellsy and very lions fanny.
I don't know how we got here.
A little John Sina.
The table is lit on fire.
He's still on fire.
Get in there.
Now question.
Would you be jumping on that guy to put him out?
It's got to be your pal.
Otherwise, that's just not to move.
I mean, that's a lot of pals then.
There's a lot of people standing around there.
And good work by the tosser.
You could have come up short, maybe hits his head on the
The tailgate?
No, he was right on a dead center.
Buddy, the ground is snow and ice.
Don't wave your hands at it.
Get your butt on the snow.
Come on.
I was,
I am curious at the idiot that got tossed and caught on fire.
Like,
he knew there was fire on the table.
Did he know?
There's fire in the table, yeah.
Because he really kind of just laid there for.
After he went through it.
You know,
you're landing on lighting,
a lighting,
right?
Why is my butt hot?
What is,
do you guys smell that?
What's happening?
Oh,
Maybe it's the fire you just threw me into.
I'm just, I'm not a very good friend, I guess.
I would just be standing there.
You got your, dude, you're on fire.
You stop drop and roll.
You ever heard that?
Stop drop and roll.
Those fans are still sour.
I would help you, but.
I don't want to sign right now.
I can't sign.
I'm busy.
I'm doing a show.
I can't sign.
Please, right.
No, I'm busy.
I'm busy.
Sorry, guys.
Just some fans.
You don't want to turn for camera and signs on run?
Too cool for school?
you're not on the power plate tonight.
Can you bring you some food?
Can you hear this? Can we hear that?
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. What do we got?
No, what's happening?
Can you guess what it is?
Uh, it's a, it's too late for breakfast there.
It's some, well, you mentioned all those restaurants around.
Is it a chick filet chicken sandwich?
No.
What else was around there?
What's the first one you mentioned?
What was the first one?
Oh, bacon part of mellow, master, mushroom milk.
A bag of popcorn.
Bermasma.
Wendy.
Wendy knows how to make a burger.
I got a new girlfriend.
I don't know you were into redheads, Redheads, Red.
Ooh.
Bill's fans are still struggling, fellas.
Look at this.
Don't pick.
No, it's not picks.
It's just after the game.
Now, if you notice, he's got some fresh ink on.
Jesus, though.
Champs that put the year on it.
Oh, buddy.
You know, next year.
They can buff that out.
Like a buff.
or an L or something. I'm sure it'll work.
Buff that shit. Yeah.
Tough one. Real quick.
Some news. Mark Andrews.
Looks like he's good to go for the Baltimore Ravens.
The Pro Bowl caliber tight in.
That's big news. Activated off I.R.
Atlanta's got a new coach.
Rahim.
Rahim Morris.
What? Rams defensive coordinator.
Is that right? Everyone loves Rahim.
Riham popular guy. Big smile.
Love it. Carolina Panthers got a new coach.
never heard you
okay
you're in a Haynes commercial what are you doing here
this is the NFL
and then we got some
we heard that the halftime entertainment

I didn't know Tom Brady's a DJ

I like that jacket
time for the fails of the week
we are almost done fella
I'll have five for you.
Now I want Jack to pause this immediately so we can think about what's going to happen.
Uh-oh.
What do we see?
Oh, no.
It gets better.
Lasses on.
Wow.
Popped right up.
Now full speed, Jack.
Oh.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's RJ.
You just took the big spill.
Pop right up.
Throw my glasses on.
I love that she asked.
Like,
you actually fell?
Did you have a fake?
It was just fake.
Did you really?
Did you really just fall?
No, no, okay.
Yeah, good.
Yeah.
You can tell that's early in the relationship where he's still trying to impress her.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
You'd be like, yeah, because you weren't holding the goddamn ladder.
That's how it should have gone.
You weren't sitting on your fat ass inside and you're holding the frigging ladder for me.
Maybe I don't fall off the goddamn roof.
That's the other side.
The other thing is not a relationship.
Things are good.
It's great.
No, no, I'm great.
I'm just going to go lie in the basement for a week.
Okay, see you.
Bye.
Love you, hon.
Oh, God, did you fall off?
Are you okay?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, I'm good.
Rob.
We had some live reporting from the Toboggin Hill,
which is never a good idea for a TV news reporter.
Great for the Pinda report, though.
That's Rob left.
All right, so I've got my trustee stop watching.
Here they come down the hill.
It looks like Rubin is in the lead, and here it comes out.
That was a bad idea.
At Riverside Park,
Black, global news.
I want to say it's staged, but he does the full flip, loses it, but he still throws the tag
at name, outlet, location.
All right, so I've got my trustee stop watching.
Here they come down the hill.
It looks like Ruben is in the lead, and here it comes out.
That was a bad idea.
At Riverside Park, Rob Black.
Dean?
Stutman.
Is that AI?
It's not AI, because that's a long time ago.
I was like 16 years
because I was doing
some TV stuff and we had connections
to global so we would have his stories
all the time that we would run or he is reporting
or whatever and it was
did did
you could have said hey
run into me and it'll be funny
but you probably didn't expect
that so either way kudos to him
for either having the balls at the start to say
run into me and go through with it
or to get helicopter
coptered like that and still have the wherewithal to pull off the sign off.
He almost breaks his neck.
Like you watch how close his head is to cracking against the ground there as he's flipping over.
Like that's about as good as I could have gone if you had to do a full front flip there.
Yeah.
That's a boy, Rob.
Still, he's, you know what?
That'll never die.
It's like pickle fest.
It'll never die.
The internet.
It'll follow you around.
It's following him around for the rest of his life.
Is it Don Relish and.
Shut up.
Delly relish.
Just keep it going.
Keep it moving.
Nothing to see here.
September 5th and 6th.
Golfs are very dangerous sport, fellas.
I don't know if you knew that.
This is an early 2024 highlight.
Balls below his feet there.
Four!
Left or open.
Yeah, the club face.
Cup base might just be on wrong.
That's a way.
Yeah, because what are you supposed to do?
When the balls below your feet, you have to compensate, right?
How does that?
That's like almost a 90 degrees.
to the right. That's a big miss fellas.
It's a nice hook. Yeah, I like that.
It can happen. It can
spray it around. Yeah. No, it's not just golf.
It's dangerous. Sim golf is too.
This is not going to surprise anyone.
Oh, God.
Hello, darkness, my old friend.
Oh, no. Oh, no.
Oh, no. Oh, no.
Oh.
How? Are you that locked in on your swing?
How?
What the age? Oh.
Right across.

a computer generated thing so maybe people feel like it's more fair it's not rigged i don't know

Bear came in to say hi.
A little bit.
What's up?
What's up, bear?
Put on your lap again.
That's always good physical comedy.
It's,
you know what?
With the cold weather,
he put on a few LBs.
Really, eh?
Hey.
Who's not walking?
No, he's lying down.
No, he's lying down.
There's no getting them up.
You want to get up?
Hey, come here.
Come here.
Come on.
Come here.
Come on.
Come on, bear.
Come here, bro.
Oh, boy.
Don't break it back.
Pop a vertebrae.
He's your knees.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, bear.
Looks real happy to be there.
Say hi.
Say hi, bud.
Can you make him do a little growl?
A little howl.
Okay.
How do you go?
I'd buy bear.
It's good looking dog here.
Good looking dog.
Few LBs for sure.
Go for a walk later.
Okay, we got a couple things left.
Got to do our bet we bets.
It's football picks Friday, buddies.
Football picks first.
These ones are worth 100, right?
Because I'm way behind.
Douglas mattress.
Talked about them earlier this week.
Talked about them last week.
I would, now listen.
No reason to be, but kind of skeptical.
So it shows up on your doorstep,
in a box, in a plastic bag.
This is going to be a king size?
So it's convenient.
I get it, but how good could it be?
Pinder, how has your Douglas mattress experience been?
It's been phenomenal.
It's incredibly soft, but it doesn't feel like it's not
supporting.
It's supportive.
It also isn't like, I'm like sweating and hot.
It's quite cool for something as comfortable and soft as it is.
But the big one at our house is like, okay, I've been doing afterburners.
I'm rolling in pretty late.
Or Ozzie Mama's watching Yannick Sinner and Novak Djokovic till three in the morning.
And in and out, not feeling the thing.
That's a big one.
We're not on the same clock a lot of the time.
So in and out, no sweat.
and what I love
Look, if you bought it and you didn't like it,
you got a full year of sleeping on it to make up your mind.
You're not going to because it's awesome,
but I mean, Jesus, you can't, there's no mistake here.
You've got a full year to test drive the thing, right?

Oh, you guys, yeah, good.
No, no time for that.
No thank you.
And as you said, it's,
a risk-free trial.
Oh, well, how risk-free?
How about a year?
That's risk-free.
We'll give you a year.
I mean, I'm a procrastinator, so that works for me.

eh, you know, whatever, you better.
How about Douglas mattresses?
Oh, yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Thank you, Douglas.
Appreciate you.
I didn't know people are making matches in Calgary
and kick ass ones.
That's unbelievable.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I thought this would be shipped over some country.
I never heard of this.
Unbelievable. Calgary.
And it is exciting when the thing shows up, right?
Yes.
Okay, so here, this is all right.
That's, so you give it the,
I wonder how this is,
kind of like bear.
I wonder how many days it take.
Oh, this is going to take.
Kind of like Bear when it's 40 below and he doesn't get walked.
That's how that goes.
Don't blame bear for that.
It's 40 below.
They don't give it.
I got a heater in a truck.
betway bets get the betway up on your telephone
on your uh your tablet
your computer just get it
get in and get ready for a big weekend
of national of football action let's just say that
betway bet the responsible way with our buddies at betway
gaming partner of barn burner two games this weekend
kansas city at the baltimore arrivens
Andrews is back.
Lamar has been great.
Minus four at home against the Chiefs.
I'm taking the points.
Sorry,
I'm giving away the points.
I like the Ravens.
I like four.
There's something about Baltimore.
I don't really like them.
I don't know that they're,
they're the least exciting team of the four that remain,
I think.
I agree.
But they have been almost undeniable.
They have been deadly,
as you would say,
rat.
They've been deadly.
did they give me Baltimore minus four
and I am taking points
Detroit into San Francisco
seven
come on Dan Campbell
keep this keep the dream alive
for all the line
jumping kneecaps let's go
that's right
get at that Brock Purdy let
get right at Brock Purdy make his life
miserable
and even if they
if they still lose just don't do it by seven
so I'm taking
no, no.
That's the Tinder.
Sorry,
you swapped.
So yeah,
I got the Lions.
There we go.
I got the Lions.
There we go.
Points.
Baltimore minus 4.
I got great news here, Dean.
I'm on the other side.
Yes.
Given how my season's gone,
you could probably cash those right now, baby.
I don't love the Kansas City Chiefs.
I just can't bet against Patrick Mahomes this time of year, fellas.
Would it surprise anyone if somehow,
some way Pat Mahomes are still playing in two weeks?
Ain't going to surprise me.
On the flip side.
I think Detroit's been a great story.
I don't know.
Something about Brock Purdy saying,
bleep all of you.
I was the last pick of the draft a year ago.
I'm just fine.
Make a statement at home.
Hopefully we get Debo.
What's the latest on Debo?
Can we get some Debo?
Please give us some Debo.
We need some Debo.
Seven points is a lot.
Come on, Debo, Debo, Debo.
But they still got Kiddle and they still got Ayuk.
And they still got McCaffrey.
It's a heck of a team.
Carrey, Rice.
Sanfran.
Minus seven.
Steve Young.
Roger.
Montaill.
I'm thinking I should trade, change this just because of what Pinder just did.
I didn't see your picks come in.
I was worried for you.
You and Pinder.
Look at you two guys.
Sweeties.
To be the best, you've got to beat the best, Dean.
Okay.
That's why San Fran's going to move on and they're going to be Casey in the final.
Simple.
Done.
You said Casey's going to move on and beat Casey in the final.
No, San Fran's going to move on and beat Casey.
AC in the final.
Okay.
I'd like to try to get by.
I hate Baltimore.
I can't cheer for him.
I can't bet for him.
Detroit, I could, but I think San Fran's too good.
Now, what about the,
what about the possibility that San Fran wins,
but say it's by four points, three points, five points.
There's a lot of points there.
You know, uh, you know, for the history of my choosing,
I've never worried about that.
You've never worried about it.
You've never worried about the spread.
Yeah.
I have instinctual knowledge of how this is going to play out.
Those two words have never.
ever been placed next to each other.
Your instincts, your instinctual,
my instinctual knowledge. Yes.
Because instincts generally don't have much to do with knowledge.
Yours don't.
Okay.
Yours do.
You're an oxymoron.
Now time for my favorite to see how Jack can slide a curse word into his
Betway bets.
What we got, Jack?
No curse words.
But I do not like the Ravens and I'm not betting against
my homes again.
Bills let us down.
Chiefs plus four.
They're going to the Super Bowl.
And then I love this Detroit story
this year. Seven points feels like too much.
I don't know if they win this game, but I think they keep it close.
Give me them plus seven.
So hang on now.
Like you're the team you like if people are just joining.
You're a Steelers guy.
Yeah.
So when you see the Ravens,
what kind of emotions and memories come to mind?
You're really teaming up, hey?
Well, it's a divisional rival.
I fucking hate the Ray.
Yeah.
We got on.
We can't pick the fucking Ravens.
They lose.
They're done.
And he thought he wasn't going to kiss.
Nice,
Jack.
There you go.
Betway,
get that Betway up and maybe we're a bunch of idiots.
Maybe you don't want to do points,
but maybe you just want to do straight up.
Maybe you want to do some prop bets.
Whatever it is you want to do.
Maybe you want the Betway up.
Right off I are.
Bet the responsible way with Bedway.
Trying to think I'm almost at the end of the show and I haven't done that thing.
Um, got something to do.
No, it was just the thing I said I was going to do.
Uh, but I feel like Jack, how hard is it for you to watch the playoffs and not have the Steelers there?
And now it's these teams that you've hated that maybe you're now rooting for.
Is it a conflict of interest?
Is it hard?
I'm on to the next thing.
I saw the Steelers were interviewing Arthur Smith.
Oh, no.
And that really threw a wrench in my day.
Please don't hire that man.
Or what?
Oh, Gordon.
Yes.
Ew.
He didn't let them
throw the ball.
They have one of the best
young tight ends in the game.
Drake London?
What?
Jack.
So yeah, I'm pissed about the Ravens,
but I've got other things
to worry about already.
Steelers are already
fucking around.
Maybe you want
Canada back?
No.
No.
Sad times for Jack.
Sad times indeed.
had to hunt for this one.
It's not the easiest one to mind.
Could I just bring up another sad, like sad song?
Or do I have to find the one that we used forever?
Yeah, this is the one.
Let's find out what's on the menu for DoorDash.
You kind of threw out the schedule there a little bit earlier,
kind of a quiet night in the...
Some good ones, though.
But with DoorDash, ordering is easy.
It shows right up at your door, where are you ordering from?
Let's you decide.
Well, when do you want it?

Oh, I got lots of your boys.
We're going to start with Vegas and the Rangers.
on Broadway.
Good matchup here.
Mark Stone, Panaron,
Fox, Aden Hillsback,
I believe. This is two good hockey clubs.
The defending champs against a contender this year goes at 5 o'clock.
5.30.
We're adding a little clippers.
Raptors from Toronto.
Then it's seven kings.
Rets were in his PLD jersey as they are entering Colorado
where Nathan McKinnon puts his every single game at home point streak
on the line.
If you are curious, Sunday morning at 1.30, that's like Saturday night, Sunday morning,
like just after midnight, 1.30 Medvedev, Sinner, Ozzie Open Final.
That's what's on the menu.
So again, is you're the woman that lives with you, staying up or getting up to watch?
Both.
So the first semi-final last night, she watches it all.
And that was Djokovic falling to sinner in four sets.
The next one started at 2.30.
And she's like, you have to PVR that for me.
And so I come downstairs this morning.
She's watching.
Oh, my God.
It is like the first set.
And it's, I, honey, are you going to work today?
Like, it's good be four hours.
Why do you?
Don't.
I won't say anything.
All right, all right.
Can we get the kids to school?
Can we do this?
It's not.
Is she able to stay kind of code of silence?
Yeah, she's not a sports honk,
but she loves tennis.
So she doesn't know all these apps pushing alerts to her about stuff.
Gosh.
She loves tennis and it's the Ozzy Open.
Talk about double whammy.
DoorDash.
Dash that for the win with DoorDash.
So what did you get in the bag there, Red?
What's in the brown bag?
I had a spicy chicken and a Dave's double.
Oh.
Spicy chicken is a, it's a no fail.
It's a first ballot hall famer, if we're being honest.
I was going to go with just one sandwich and then I thought,
no, come on.
Don't be a wimp.
It's a two banger.
That's right.
There's a two banger.
I'm falling asleep now.
Yeah.
So, uh, let's, so what's on the menu for you today?
What's happening after?
I already played a game.
I already played a game.
You've had the two burgers.
I'm going to have a truck nap.
Yeah.
I'm going to have a truck.
A truck nap and then we got a game at 430 and then I'm going to go home and have a real nap.
Do you not have a hotel room?
A truck nap does not feel satisfying enough.
I don't have a hotel room.
It's only an hour away.
and we don't play tomorrow till noon, so.
Gotcha.
So you need the truck nap before you drive back home?
No, we play another game today.
Sorry, all right.
Wasn't listening.
4.30 today.
So I'll have a truck nap now for another hour or so.
Be perfect.
What do the young man, you don't like a truck nap?
I'm going to make them have a nap.
Good luck.
Yeah.
I always, I'm not really comfortable because I feel like people be looking in,
watching me drooling it.
snoring and stuff.
Self-conscious, right?
It would be like falling asleep on a park bench or something.
You're out there for everyone.
And?
And?
Yeah, fair enough.
Pinder.
Don't knock until you tried it.
You know,
passing out on a sidewalk, sleeping on a,
what's problem?
You wait until the sunlight hits your face when you're sleeping in a dumpster.
Hey, there's George Sweetland.
Look at that.
Look at that.
Look out of the way, Luke.
That's George Sweetland over there, folks.
Get them on.
Georgie.
Get over here.
Come here, George.
You scumbag.
Oh, there he is.
George, you get in here.
You want to talk to him?
He can't hear.
No, my, don't.
Yes, I want to talk to Georgie.
Hey, boys.
George, how are you, buddy?
How's the season going on as the journey?
Oh, good, good.
I'm with the best coach ever.
What?
You guys brought a new coach in for this tournament?
I'm with the best coach ever right here.
Now, how did you play this morning?
I heard too many penalties.
Yeah, too many penalties.
I just think our kids like taking penalties.
After that five-on-five brawl, I can't see why you arrived to that conclusion.
Well, well, I think, yeah, you're right.
But I think we need to fight a little more, though.
I think when Razor's on the bench, they like to fight more.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So does Razor make these trips?
Because he can't, right?
He's a very busy guy.
He's working.
Well, actually, now he's in Beverly Hills, like, eating.
Yeah.
Probably better than Rochester.
I think he wins that, actually.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We're actually going to win the championship this weekend.
Gotcha.
So did you guys carpool together or do you all just take your own rig and waste gas?
Well, we all took our own rig.
Yeah.
Except Luke came with me to eat.
Gotcha.
How much does he eat?
Yeah, God.
Nice.
Oh, well, let's see here.
A couple pounds.
Yeah.
Because the old man had a spicy chicken and a Dave's Jr. or something.
So he had the two banger.
The kids, I mean, the kids got some metabolism.
I would think he'd even be eaten more than that.
Oh, we had lasagna.
We had, what else did we have?
A lot of pasta.
Now, you think there's big shoes to fill for the young man with his dad being a hockey player.
Rett's hockey skill just very, very small compared to his ability to house wings,
eat large amounts of food.
disappear containers of cool whip.
I mean, you want to talk about big shoes.
If the young man can hang with dad in the food category, that's impressive stuff.
Yeah, he can hang.
He definitely can hang.
Definitely.
I mean, back in the days, it was just pizza and beer.
That's all that you eat and drink when you play to hockey.
Today, it's all protein shakes.
That's right.
It's changed for sure.
All right.
What sauce are you on tonight, Georgie?
Brett tells you a booze bag.
What sauce are you on tonight?
Actually, I just had a couple of things.
Blat's blues.
A couple, though.
I'm waiting for a couple of barn burners.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah, we'll get them to you.
We'll get them to you.
I know I'm waiting.
I try to order, but they won't send it to me.
Yeah, it's legal stuff.
It's legal stuff.
Yeah.
It's nothing personal.
Yeah.
Well, you guys take care.
I'm going to go take these boys back to the rank.
Yeah, real good talking to you.
Thanks.
Hey, you too.
Hey, next time you guys got to come to Buffalo, we'll go drinking.
Yeah, I can't wait.
Yeah.
I told you we had to talk.
to him.
Yeah,
don't ever fucking
do that again.
Do that again.
That was awesome.
Chargy.
Is that a
Buffalo accent?
What am I here and there?
Bad blues.
I have a couple of bad blues.
Yeah,
a couple of bats.
If you guys want him on a week,
on a weekly basis.
Weekly's a lot.
I don't know about week.
I don't know if we can.
You know what?
He's like my,
he's like my old man,
Doug.
He doesn't realize that he can just relax yet.
He's going to work them, you know?
Yeah.
It's trying to be professional.
Well, it is you too.
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
So these are the people you're hanging out with.
This is why you moved to Buffalo.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Just booze cans.
Life.
I already had a couple of blues.
They had a couple blues.
Had their protein shakes, eh?
All right.
Well, good luck today.
So games today, games tomorrow.
What's up?
What's up for grabs?
Is it a trophy?
Is it a tournament?
It's the BK Cup.
We've got to get our hands on the BK Cup.
It's going to be a battle.
Is that like Burger King?
I actually don't know why it's called BK.
The Burger King and you're eating at Wendy's?
Bishop Kearney.
It's a school.
Wendy's good sponsor of the program.
So good on you for supporting Wendy's.
And delicious and really contributing to my nap today.
Thank you.
Yeah.
So quickly before we go, coming up on Monday, we'll be looking back at the weekend.
game against the Chicago Blackhawks for the flames.
You've been very astute.
You've been bang on.
You've been on point.
What do you expect on Saturday?
I'm worried about it, to be honest with you.
Very worried.
I'm going to stay positive.
I'm going to give flames a win, but it's going to be ugly.
They're not going to make a statement.
It's going to be ugly.
Barn painting.
They'll be painting the barn for sure.
And any supplemental discipline for, uh,
for Huberto?
I think he gets a game.
Okay.
All right.
Pinder,
your guess.
It's a fine.
I feel like,
yeah.
I'll go with one game,
but if it's a fine,
that one would surprise me another.
Whatever.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I didn't think about it until you guys were talking about it.
So I guess I'll say fine.
We also don't know if Roslavik's hurt.
That's the thing the league will probably look into, right?
If they're like,
he's going to miss a week,
Hebrose screwed.
But if it's like,
oh, he'll be playing tomorrow.
I'll be playing tomorrow.
Okay, well, maybe it's not.
Anyway.
All right.
Well, appreciate you.
Have a fine weekend.
And, yeah, Monday, the start of the All-Star break, no games.
The no game.
I thought we're taking the day off.
Iron burner.
That's Wednesday, yeah.
Tuesday.
How do we book a 7 a.m. flight?
What the hell's going on, Dean?
I don't know.
I looked at that.
I'm like, I'm getting up at four or something to go to Toronto.
It's nine Eastern.
Nine Eastern.
It's good.
You don't want to land.
You go two hours later.
Then you get stuck in traffic.
Could you get off the plane?
Instead, I'll be just a bag of Richards at noon when I land.
So we get to hang out with the Euler guys again.
You don't have to.
It's a very-
Do I have to come on Wednesday?
Well, yeah, that's the thing.
Wednesday arrivals.
Thursday.
I'll get there when I can.
Thanks, guys.
Sounds about right.
All the best.
Yeah, see you, buddies.
