Starting point is 00:00:12 Buenos days, Munchachos. Welcome to Barnburner on a Thursday. How are we doing? It's Boomer, it's Warner. It's Pinder across from your broadcast right to your left. Headed that way in a east to west direction. We will have Jamie McClain on a Thursday. He is back.
Starting point is 00:00:36 He's ready to roll. And we'll get into our Betwee Betts. and, you know, we've got a lot to do in the show today. Looking forward to it. But I guess for starters, it's very rude to me. How we do it, fellas? How are we feel? How we, uh, my energy levels are really high.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Who's that right? My confidence levels are really low. Oh, no. What? Personally, you're a high energy loser. Yeah. That sucks. What has you down, pod?
Starting point is 00:01:09 Well, I pride myself on being correct. and having great insight. That's why I'm here. Yes. To provide some insight and some education for those dummies that are out there listening. That is your role. You're the information. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Oh, for three. Hey, that's the story of your life, though. Oh, geez. You're checked today. That's nice. I'll tell you that. That's not nice. Oh, for three.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Dean. It's not nice at all. You had, yeah, you were on the wrong side last night. You had the Leafs. Well, to be fair, he had the favorites. He had all the favorites. Yeah. It was not a night for the favorites.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Yeah, you had some, a couple bouncing back. Yeah, you had a lot of them to go last night. But are we okay with much of what happened last night? Boston hangs in there, gets a win in Toronto. They're up two to one. Vegas. They have handled Dallas. It's not been real pretty.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Question. Are you still okay with the flames getting a second rounder if Vegas moves on? It was always okay with it. Oh, I know. I'm teasing. It's just that felt very ominous heading into this series as against the one seed in the west. They're up to O going home. The one seed,
Starting point is 00:02:32 uh, very scrambling. The one seed looks like the wildcard team. Yeah. The wildcard team looks like the one seat. And the one is the, and sorry, the Wildcare team is the defending champs, but they don't look like the group that stumbled the last month or half season.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Would you like a, yes, Dean. Piece of paper? Sure. Do you like a fun fact? That looks fun. Each of the last 14 teams to take a two games to none lead against a conference's top seed have gone on to win. each of the last 14. 14 straight where the top seed gets down 02, they're effed. Dating back to the 03 conference semis between the Mighty Ducks and the stars.
Starting point is 00:03:22 This excludes the first, the bubble 2020 when the Canucks were against the blues. I mean, it was whatever. But best of fives in there too. That was weird. Yeah. 14. Now, obviously if you go back to 03, it doesn't happen that often. but it doesn't bode well for the for the conference
Starting point is 00:03:41 in this case conference top seed that would be the Dallas Stars. For Tanniff and Company. Yeah. Tannifan and company having having their way. And again, I'm going to reiterate my observation because I've got
Starting point is 00:03:55 great insight for people. You sure do. So much. They look frazzled and they're running around. They have no control over what's happening. Let's bring in our buddy. He's one of our, he's an NHL insider. He's, he's a friend of the show.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Thank you, buddy. And he's a sweet boy. He's a sweet boy. Jamie McLennan joining us here on a Thursday. How are we doing, noodles? I'm good. I am a sweet boy. You are a sweet boy because we were saying,
Starting point is 00:04:23 and I'm guessing you were in Edmonton, you were flying yesterday, we couldn't get you. We were saying yesterday, God, this guy, he works. He's like a just run into the ground. He's a dog on a bone. He's going here, flying there, going all right. Working hard. He's just grinding away.
Starting point is 00:04:37 82 game season for the senator's finally done and what does he do I got go see mama flies out sees mom has got to fly back there's no stopping you we're not sure exactly we think you're too nice yeah that says there's some where are the bodies buried there's something going on with you somehow some way you can't be that good a guy and and where's the energy coming well the energy I feel like if the minute you stop you're done like you just got to keep going right like the The minute you stop, like how, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:05:10 I feel like I have a buddy who I grew up with. We're literally separated by one day. You met him. His name is Terry Degner. And he played junior hockey and his great guy. But the family, he's wealthy. Like they sold their company. And he retired at like, he's retired like three times.
Starting point is 00:05:29 He retired at like 40 years old. And it was like, what the hell am I going to do for the next 50 years? And then he got back working. And then like he's a busy guy. but he's busy as much as he wants to be. For me, I'm just busy. Like, I don't know. Like, I've got young kids.
Starting point is 00:05:43 I know. That's a difference. I started later in life having kids. So I've got a six-year-old boy who's moving pretty quick and in playing hockey. And my 11-year-old daughter, who's a Swifty. I've got him. I've been hunting down Swift tickets and all of that stuff. So it's, I'm busy.
Starting point is 00:05:59 You got any? You got any? I got a guy. You got a guy. But where is it? What city? Related to me. I got a guy.
Starting point is 00:06:06 I might be in van. Might be in van. What a time. I don't think no. I would take a van. I would take. Direct flight. You guys know I have a buddy out in van who plays music.
Starting point is 00:06:18 So I've been chipping away at him. And then obviously she's coming to Toronto for like six shows or something ridiculous. But everybody in Toronto I know, I think has gotten the request too. Yeah. You know, so the funniest thing, I get a phone call. from Jason Strudwick's wife, because she wants to bring, you know, Shona and his, her daughter, their daughter is the same age as my daughter. So the four of them are going to go.
Starting point is 00:06:46 She calls, can you get Taylor Swift in November? And this was like in the summer. I'm like, okay, that's a couple months away. She goes, no, it's like 18 months from now. 2024. What are you asking me now? Like, we know in our business, when you're like, hey, can you get me two tickets to the Battle of Alberta?
Starting point is 00:07:04 I'm like, call me the day before. When I was playing, it would be like, you've got 10 games before that. But people would be like two months in advance. Can I get two tickets to that game against Pittsburgh in January? You're like, call me in January. Don't call me now in October. So I got that message from a few people saying, you know it's 18 months out. And I go, I understand.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Don't shoot the messenger, but just keep me on your list. So I've been grinding. And I even went like, this is that, I think if you have a royal bank card, you can put in to like go into a draw. I like entered the draw the other day. I'm like every angle. You're a normal person all of a sudden. You're just a ham and egger.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Dean's got tickets. You got to talk to Dean. He's a broker. He went to WrestleMania. Now Swift. I mean, shit. You want one of those tickets to the moon with Elon. He's got those two. It's a new, new venture for him. I'm in. Pencil me in. But I don't even want to go to the concert. I just got to get my daughter and her friends there.
Starting point is 00:08:01 That's basically it. Yeah. Yeah. Well, when your buddy in Vancouver can't, then you're hooped with us. I mean, there's nothing we could do for you if friggin, you know. I'll call that guy. Rockstar can't. They might not be real tickets, but. That would be the buddy part.
Starting point is 00:08:22 You get up there and you go to scan them and it's like just. You know what? There are some guys that you should actually set up like Strudwick would be great or maybe not this particular, but screw with them enough where you send him fake tickets. He actually goes to the concert, scan. Sorry, sir. And then he's got to call you and you'll be like, actually have real ones. That's where you need a hidden camera.
Starting point is 00:08:49 Yes. Hidden camera. I hear a guy. Somehow he has to be miced because you know he's just. Wait a minute. Who is Taylor sniffed? This is not what I wanted at all. This is completely different.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Why is it in a suburb? and in a field house somewhere. Yeah. Well, we've tracked you down and we got you. So we'll put you to work. I guess as we sit here, kind of going across the board, we got Florida up to nothing. Boston took their lead to one yesterday.
Starting point is 00:09:17 The Rangers are all over Washington, Carolina, up to nothing, but needed a little bit of drama to get there. Dallas falls down to nothing. Colorado came back with a big one in game two. Vancouver's even at one. Edmonton last night loses. I guess big of so. surprise anything there that's so early on to be shocked but i guess uh early on anything kind of
Starting point is 00:09:38 caught you guys for me yeah um just i i thought dallas is such a complete team the problem is is is vagua Vegas has this aura around them now everyone i mean they are an intimidating team and they play well and they're really well coached and they kind of don't have any weaknesses but it's like now now people are intimidated by well mark stone just showed up and and and And, you know, Hurdle just showed up. Like, Hurtle's a good player. But he, you know, I don't, does he make your top 50 list? He's a good player.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Like, I think he's a good player. Mark Stone, I think, is an absolute beast. And he's a, but like I look at the depth of that group. It's very balanced. But what do you need to do is you've got to beat them at their own game. Like they're bullies in a good way. They play hard. They've got skill.
Starting point is 00:10:30 And they've got a really good mobile. D. But I just, for some reason, when I watched Dallas this year live, like they had no week this either. The goalie was really good. Hayskin and if Hayskin and played north of the border, everyone would be taught, like that would be Quinn Hughes. That's basically what they'd be talking about, you know. It's a bit much. Quinn's having like the monster season. You know what I mean. It's a top five, 10 D. Okay. Quinn's having an amazing season, but I'm saying. Lanslide Norris. Exaggerating to make a point, Ryan. I would. My point being is when you're south of the border near Dallas,
Starting point is 00:11:06 it's a niche market. You're not getting the love that you deserve. And I think they're a really good team. It just haven't found it and Vegas is best found it. I watched that game last night. To me, Dallas looked like they were running and chasing the whole game. And what was weird is Vegas had eight shots at the halfway point of the hockey game. It's not as though they were running Dallas out of the rink.
Starting point is 00:11:28 But you're right, retro. It's it just, whether it's a, thing, but there's something to Vegas. When you start, will you start squeezing? You white, knock a little, little bit. These guys know how to win. Do we know how to win? They've been there before. Have we been here before? Damn it.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Didn't it feel like the Oilers series of it? When you watched, you're like, how does this high-powered offense of the Oilers just suddenly look frazzled? That's what Dallas looks like right now. Vegas just has them fighting just to get chances. You're right. The Oilers against Vegas last year, Vegas just outstructured them. Yeah. And then last night, to me, I was at the game Monday night, and that wasn't a seven, four game.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Three goals, like two goals went in off a skate on Skinner, and then one Cody Cici's stick breaks. And I don't know what the hell he was doing. He just put it on the guy's stick and a two on one back on back door. But Skinner, I thought, played very well, that opening game. Last night, I thought he was very bad. I thought he was the difference in a negative way, unfortunately. Because Evanton, I attributed their loss to two things. They're reading their press press clippings, not there is press press press clipings anymore, but you know what I mean.
Starting point is 00:12:36 They're reading the hype. They run them out of the building in the first game and they just think L.A. is going to just pack it in. You knew L.A. was going to have a response. And they started slow. Now, you give up three goals on seven shots. I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I can't be played well. I thought that top line at L.A. played very well. But I, I thought Skinner allowed two, maybe three bad goals.
Starting point is 00:12:59 He didn't think so. He was asked post-game and he said, I didn't think I had any effect on the outcome of the game, which I almost spit-taked on my table. Honestly, I don't mind. Like, Connor Halebuck could give up a touchdown, and he's like, it felt great. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Like, to me, you know, Stuart Skinner can say anything he wants. But what he needs to do is back it up with play. And, you know, I think it's, that's why I was saying. Like, everyone's like, yeah, you've given up nine goals in two games. No, you can't. You can't challenge the stats, but I am going to say context because there hasn't been a lot of bad goals. Like game one, there was three fluky goals. And it is what it is.
Starting point is 00:13:39 That was a throwaway game. At no point was L.A. in that game in game one. Yeah. Last night was a different story. Last night, L.A. pushed back. And then Evanston got rolling from the second period on. They were the better team. And for me, the turning point was the glove save on dry saddle on the power play at 3.3.
Starting point is 00:13:57 Because that's the dagger goal right there. Because LA had no response in that second period. Ebenton was all over them. They tied the game and then dry-siddle on the back door as what I would call. Like that's a layup for him. What a play by McDavid. And Talbot reads it, gets the glove on it. And that, I kept thinking, that save might have a ripple effect.
Starting point is 00:14:21 And then sure enough, early in the third, that was a bad goal from the wall. But 73, that would be a mutant defenseman there, what's his name? Day Arnae. But get the hell out of the way. If you actually look at the replay from Skinner's standpoint, Bifield's there, Day or Ne at the last second skates through the screen.
Starting point is 00:14:42 And you look, Skinner actually looks to go around him. And that's where he loses sight of the shot. Because you shouldn't score from there. Fiala, that's a muffin. Like it's a rolling puck. And then, you know, Copa tar in overtime. That's a great shot.
Starting point is 00:14:56 But you need to save. It's a clear-sighted shot. I didn't think. Skinner was very good last night, but I am looking for a response. If you ask me, Edmonton's the better team. No question. But they've got to play better. They've been play more structured and right from the drop of the puck because I thought they had a slow start. It was almost like they put their gear on expecting to win and didn't want to put the work in until it was a bit too late. They were the better team for most of the seven periods we saw and they
Starting point is 00:15:23 lose home ice and are split. I still think they win the series, but they missed potentially an opportunity to make this a short series. And if LA wins one more, that's another two flights they add to their it one to get back to L.A. for game six, another to get back home if they can win it or not, they're going to have a game seven. I mean, it's, that feels like a huge missed opportunity
Starting point is 00:15:43 where this path in the Pacific looks so clear. This could have been a short series and it might not be now. I agree. I agree because, but I was saying it all along. I don't think L.A. is a slouch. Like I think that, you know, if you look on paper,
Starting point is 00:15:56 they've got some players like Fiala, more, you know, byfields a player. Like it's, we always just think, ah, Kopitara Dowdy. It's kind of like Dallas with Sagin and Ben. Those guys are farther down in the roster. What you're looking for is the next wave of players to push through. You know, Talbot was always the question mark for me. They can get to them.
Starting point is 00:16:18 I mean, they've scored. It's been, what, 11 goals in two games on him. So, you know, they could score on him. But can they keep it out of their net? That's the biggest question. Mark. And to me, Evanton looked really dialed in in in in game one and it looked dialed in for two periods last night, but they come up short. So big pitcher on Skinner. He's a nice story. He's homegrown. He's a pick that was developed in Bakersfield. They went and got Jack Campbell to
Starting point is 00:16:45 come in and be the 1A and he was going to be the 1B. It was a huge swing and a miss. Some saw it coming, some didn't. Campbell never really carried the mail in a tough environment ever as a number one. He now is in the minors. Is it crazy? that Ken Holland has left this guy that I think is probably a platoon goalie as the guy that has the chance that Connor has to rely on to win a cup here? Like that that forward group, those two superstars, two years left under contract, that's your best option of net and Calvin Pickard of three his whole career. That's your two?
Starting point is 00:17:16 Am I nuts here? You're not nuts. You're actually right. But what I would have liked to seen is like Pickard actually gave them good minutes. I would have liked to see if Skinner's your guy and they've pot committed. What they did is they doubled down. With that terrible start, they said, we're going to move Campbell out of the way and Skinner, you're our guy.
Starting point is 00:17:39 You're homegrown. We're going to draft develop you. We're going to get you to that number one status. You have to get the experience. Last year you played 50 this year. I thought he played too much this year, 59, 60 games. Like to me, if you want him fresh and you were expecting for a long run, They did rotate him and Pickard a lot down the stretch.
Starting point is 00:18:00 But to me, it was a little bit too late. Like I would have liked to see. And even the last, I'll give you an example, the back-to-back situation, their last two games of the season, they play in Arizona, they play Pickard. They rest everybody.
Starting point is 00:18:15 They rest the trainers. They rest half the coaching staff. Everybody in Colorado, they start Skinner. I'm like, what the hell are you doing? I don't, like, if anything, you play everybody in Arizona, and then you call up an HL team and say,
Starting point is 00:18:30 you know, take the two points, Colorado, run us out of the building. And to me, what that did. Now, Skinner, again, I thought he looked really solid in game one, but statistically it's going to hurt him. I even said that on SportsCenter afterwards. He had an 891 save percentage in that game, but he had some bad luck. So you follow it up with a good game.
Starting point is 00:18:51 He didn't. So now of a sudden we're going, this guy's allowed five goals, I'm sorry, nine goals and two games. what the hell's wrong with him? Well, he's got to play better. And he didn't play well last night. So we'll see if he has a response game in L.A.
Starting point is 00:19:02 He has to. And you're right. Like McDavid and Drysale, these guys are relying on him. I do think he's good enough to give them the stable goaltending, but he wasn't last night and he needs to be,
Starting point is 00:19:13 especially in a deep run. If they're going to go in a deep run, your goaltender has to, it can't be a question mark back there. That's Toronto. I guarantee you, today I'll be talking about it. I'll be talking about it. I'llie Samson off allowed one stinker
Starting point is 00:19:26 last night. That's all they're going to talk about. So, yeah, and the career, 14 games in the playoffs, six wins, seven losses, one, no decision. Who are we talking about? Skinner. 879, 381. 14 games. And he got pulled four times last year in the playoffs, four. So that, you know, he has something to prove. But they did, they did double down on him. He's their guy.
Starting point is 00:19:52 I do like, I will say this, as much as I, it seems like I'm kicking him in the junk. I do like a lot about his game. He's quiet. He's a big guy. You know, when he's on, he's very positional. He doesn't chase the puck. I think he handles the puck well.
Starting point is 00:20:07 He's got to, you know, he's got to get out and stop it. He can fire it hard. He makes good plays with it. But when he looks off, it looks like he's not trying type of thing. Because he's just big and goes down. And if it doesn't hit him, that's it. You know, that's the end of the play. And, you know, we saw that last night.
Starting point is 00:20:24 That's a bad goal. Fialo's goal. was a bad goal. I know he didn't see it, but it goes through the body and it's kind of wavering and stuff. You need to make these saves, and he didn't. I think of a team like Vegas where, you know, Aidan Hill comes in and wins a cup with them. Was it Aden Hill or was it the team in front of Aden Hill that just had structure and played hard? I still wonder what kind of goalie. And I'm, I'm not quite, I know where Ryan is on this because it's anything but Edmonton. I still think they win this series. I can see how they, how they lose it.
Starting point is 00:20:56 but it would have to be a catastrophe. But when you have to rely on elite level goaltending, it says something about your team. And the Campbell couldn't work and now, you know, Skinners, I don't know. I just, they're so good, but there's warts there. And when they're exposed, it falls on the goaltender or it falls on one of the defensemen who made one bonehead play. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:21:27 What about Toronto? They've played three games. I've liked Toronto for a lot of the three games. And they're done two to one. It's not a huge hole to climb out of. But it's not, nothing's easy for them, is it? They don't get any benefit of the doubt from the hockey gods, it seems like. Well, they don't because there's no sample size or something to go back on and go,
Starting point is 00:21:50 do you remember that run? You remember this. You remember that. You're right. I think they've been pretty even games. And if you look at game one, I thought Boston was the better team just structurally overall. They got the goals.
Starting point is 00:22:05 They got the goaltending. Game two, you know, they call it in the Matthews game. You know, well, I mean, it wasn't like Toronto ran them out of the building. It was a one goal game.
Starting point is 00:22:14 And I thought Allmark played really well. Like it was, it was a, it was kind of a seesaw battle. I thought Samsonoff made a couple of big saves at the right time. And Matthews makes that, an incredible, incredible play, and he, they win the game. So you follow that up coming home. And, you know, I kept saying, like, everyone's like pointing, well, you know, Toronto's got this,
Starting point is 00:22:37 Toronto's that, like, you can't sleep on Boston. Like, pasta hasn't even woken up yet. Like that and, and Marchon had three assists coming into it, but he wasn't that, you know, the Brad Marchehan. That was the Marchand game last day. If they call it the Matthews game, game too. Marshaan was littered in that game and everyone's while the roughing. I know we're going to be talking about the roughing today. They got five power plays. You know what they went? They went 0 for five. So yes, Nielander potentially coming back Saturday would help because that especially helped that power play. But Boston,
Starting point is 00:23:12 like I look at them, they don't panic. They play hard. They got a great goaltender. I still think, I think they might follow it up with with Allmark. Sure they will. Yeah. It's 30. games that are really doing this. Why would they stop now? They're up to one. The thing is, is if Walmart can go in and steal one on Saturday, now you go back to Swayman, who's fresh. Like, I keep thinking that, and I know people think it's crazy, but that's what they've done. That's the way their team is built. So mentally, the guys are like, yeah, Jeremy's playing,
Starting point is 00:23:41 Linus is playing this one. Like, that's how that team works. And there's been adjustments, too. They added two defensemen. Now, the Andrew Peek got injured. So, but they took out Resolik and they added that Laocco kid or whatever his name is. He was playing with McAvoy last night. He's a big, strong kid, but there was a few times he got exposed. They're asking more of Chatton Kirk on that third pairing, and they put in Watherspoon, who he's got some jam, but he's a smaller guy. But you look at it, JVR goes in.
Starting point is 00:24:13 Like Boston had some adjustments, like for bringing players and stuff. Like the Leafs, I don't know if there's no healthy adjustments or not. it's like we're rolling back the same group here. I don't know if there's going to be adjustments for Saturday. Obviously, if you add William Nealander, then Nick Robertson comes out and that's a big plus for the Leaves. But I think
Starting point is 00:24:33 the Leaves D are getting exposed too. Like they've got Morgan Riley who can move the puck and then they've got guys who they got after that you've got third pairing guys who are just grinding it out and Joel Edmondson cross-checking and
Starting point is 00:24:49 playing hard and McCabe truck. Same thing. Benoit stepping up. They want to be physical. You can have as many hits as you want. You still need to make plays. And, you know, I don't know. I think Leifes are in one. They got to, to me, Saturday's a must win.
Starting point is 00:25:04 You can't go down 3-1. You can't go down 3-1. The funny thing to me, like, I agree with Dean, they've been the better team a lot in this series, but they don't look like the smarter team. It's self-inflicted wounds all over. And, you know, it's dumb penalties. It's letting Marchand getting,
Starting point is 00:25:21 your head when you know it's Brad Marchand, of course he's trying to get in your head. Like, you can't let him live there rent free and then be, oh, we were distracted by Marchand and they, like, what are you talking about, you idiots? But they're still here without their second best player, you could argue. Yeah. I went away. That's true. And we'll see.
Starting point is 00:25:36 But my worry is if the second best player, if he's 80%, and if it's a back or a head or whatever. Well, there's reporting today on that. We should talk about it. So Elliot just put up on Sportsnet.com a couple of minutes ago that, according to multiple sources, Nealander's absence has to do with my, so severe, doctors tested him to see if he suffered a concussion. So this is not a ligament of bone, a body issue.
Starting point is 00:25:59 This is a migraine headache type thing, which makes the, it kind of makes more sense, but also makes it more complicated. Well, is that, yeah, I mean, is that concussion related? Is that they shut him down for a bit and see if he's got migraine? Like, is that neck issue? You know, like sometimes I get headaches where, you know, the muscles in your neck, like if you do weights or something, it comes up. Like, first and foremost, you hope for the health of the player.
Starting point is 00:26:25 But the minute that, like, you think Boston's going to take their foot off the gas and not try and run them through the boards? Like, that's, you know, I feel bad for you, but I'm going to still play you very hard. Like Marchand and Bertuzi are buddies. They're just jousting at each other and, you know, whacking each other and tripping each other and tackling and all of that type of stuff. They're going to play for keeps both sides. So, you know, you hope that kneelander's all right.
Starting point is 00:26:52 But, you know, that's a, that's a problem if it's migraines because that's not something that's got a timeline. You just kind of hope it feels better. And that's why it's been so weird that he's taking morning skates and, oh, he's not going to go. But, oh, he'll probably be ready in two days. Well, no, and now he's not like, the timeline has not made sense. And when you say migraines, it starts to make a little more sense because to your point, there just isn't, oh, he'll be ready on this day. Yeah. Oh, that's terrible.
Starting point is 00:27:17 I feel bad for him. He's had a great season and they do, you know, their power play misses him for sure in five on five. I mean, they need the player. And Matthews, I think he missed, he didn't,
Starting point is 00:27:27 he took his option in morning skate yesterday. And then Chris Johnston was tweeting out or something that he might have been ill. So I don't know if he's nursing something either, but it's the playoffs. How is the media coverage? Because you know what it's like. It's round one of Toronto. We've done this every year for a decade, right?
Starting point is 00:27:46 It's Toronto. I mean, you saw the front cover of the Toronto Sun yesterday. Like I hate that stuff. Like I just, I, I, you know,
Starting point is 00:27:55 it's clickbait. I read the article. It's not as scathing. It just points. No, the article's fine. It's the headline in the cover. Well,
Starting point is 00:28:01 you know what it is is Steve Simmons writes the article. And then you get, you get some intern or something or some guy who, the editor who goes, hey, we're going to, you know, get a bunch of clicks like,
Starting point is 00:28:11 and they've got a picture of Marner with no face and an invisible man and all. Like, it was just, I don't know. And I said this yesterday, and I wholeheartedly believe this. If Marner scored three goals last night and was first star, the son, you didn't do it. Like the, you know, the Toronto son. There's no retraction.
Starting point is 00:28:33 There's no. But it's not like, there, like, there's no credit to them. I see what you're saying. You know, we put a lit a fire on him. We were the ones. No, Mitch Marner knows that he has more to give. He's a prideful athlete. Like it's not like, you know, it's not like, okay, now that the sun called me out, now I better play better.
Starting point is 00:28:55 So I was like it's, it's different, definitely clickbait. If you're walking by a newsstand and you see it, that's, that's a, that's the old school news, newsstand. That's what they're trying to do. Coffee and a donut and, oh, I better get that paper. It looks at an interesting article. Yeah, you've got that and then you've got Princess Die or something next, you know, it was always like the tabloids. and hey Elvis is still alive and Michael Jackson is singing next week. That boy, who's Bat Boy?
Starting point is 00:29:21 Do you, did you any one of you guys watch the pregame speech from Keith? The pregame, not the post. I watched post game. No, no, in the room. So they had that as part of the, the message. And listen, I'm, again, I'm, I'm looking for clickbait, I guess. It was flat as hell. Really?
Starting point is 00:29:44 like I think back to playoffs and after the coach reads the lineup and it's time to go like get out of the way like yeah it's time to stand up and get ready to play well keep in mind you you want you know you've got Darrell what's got froth coming out of his mouth
Starting point is 00:30:04 and you know like it's just like it's he you know his energy is is rubbing off on everybody that's my point to it though it was it was even keel and maybe it's who he is. I just found it surprising the lack of, and let's go from him and the team. I wonder how much history plays with that,
Starting point is 00:30:26 because he's been around for a few of these already, and he might have played that card and it didn't go well. I feel like context is really important there, right? Because if you only see one speech, you don't know what the other ones are like. You don't know what he's been building towards. You don't know how it went against Florida last year when, you know, they thought they were going to win that series.
Starting point is 00:30:42 I just, for me, I, I'll take the energy instead of like the, you know, deadpan. Well, just if you're, if you're very composed, I get it. But I would, I'd much rather have somebody who's, you know, kind of bringing, coming out of his skin. Let's, we can do this. I mean something to him. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Like, I, I didn't see. It's hard because you know when you're on camera, especially here in Toronto, you're trying to be poised and, hey, the camera's on. instead of, you know, Bruce Boudreau, a couple, when was that, when he dropped 400 F bombs and, you know, pizza stains on his shirt and, you know, fumbling around and, you know, he's a beauty. Like, I love that guy. There's been a few of those to try, right? Torrance had that good one too with the Rangers, the one in. I love Torch's speech the one time where he's like, we got to stiffen up.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Yeah. If you don't want to stiffen up, you're not going to play. Like, to me, that's, that's energy where he comes in and he's talking like, Even the word stiffen up. I know exactly what he was talking about. Like just like dial it in. If you're going to be, I want you stiff in all three zones. Like do not give an inch of ice.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Like that speech alone, I loved. But that's, I was motivated a different way. Other guys nowadays, who knows. Like, you know, whether it hits or not. But like when I heard that tortarella speech, like I wanted to jump up. And that's, there's difference. You know, coaches have different. tactics. I didn't see it. I'm going to have to go back and look at it, Red, because now you
Starting point is 00:32:14 got me thinking about it. But, you know, bottom line is, is the coach shouldn't have to motivate the players, especially in the playoffs, because they, you should motivate yourself. And it was a physical series. It's been a physical, you know, it's been a good series so far. We'll see. But, you know, for me, Saturday night is going to be pivotal game. Was it two years ago? They had the camera crew there. And it was like an Amazon or Apple, something where they fall to the leafs. I feel like anytime a camera's come around since then there's just got to be trauma that was supposed to be the year and another first round collapse it was just like i could get these goddamn cameras out of here we're already in the biggest magnified glass on the sport and they and they follow them like the whole
Starting point is 00:32:54 season yeah they're crying post game like get these cameras out of here i i you know and apparently like amazon's back right i was reading that announcement this monday nights yeah and you know it sounds like they're going to be kind of all over it. I don't mind the access, but it's just hard. Like you get, the problem is when you get access,
Starting point is 00:33:15 not everybody's going to like what they see and hear. So that's the fine line because I'll give me an example. It's funny. I was in Evanton the other day and I went to dinner with a couple of buddies. And one of my buddies is a firefighter up there. And we were driving, he was driving me home after and we were driving right by the rink. And it was kind of rough area in Edmonton there.
Starting point is 00:33:36 And I said, God, like, you know, how many calls he goes, we're here three times a day. He goes, you know, the drug abuse, all of that type of stuff. And I said, you know, how would you, how do you even be a firefighter or police officer nowadays? And he goes, it's so hard. You've got to wear these cameras. Like the firefighters don't, but the cops do. And my point being, he said, you act differently.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Like he goes, these cameras are on. And he goes, these cops are fight. They're not fighting us. They're fighting criminals and people. people with guns and weapons and stuff. And you're getting context. Like if they say something or do something in the heat of battle and then some bleeding heart looks at it later.
Starting point is 00:34:18 And they're like, oh, you can't treat that guy like that. You have no context to it. So that's, I'm saying like I come back to these 24 hour videos and stuff. You want access. I, you know, I'm sure there's things that I thought and said and did behind closed doors that probably would be frowned upon by others, right? I lived it, so I totally get it. And what I've always said is, guys, that's your safe place.
Starting point is 00:34:46 That's where you should be able to go to not worry about someone having a judgment of your thoughts. The dressing room is, it's the core of it all. And if you don't have the feeling of safety there and support, and I don't care. I mean, it's one-offs probably, but it is a, it's almost a violation of all things that matter in a... Carol would hate it. It's a hard veto from him. Well, basically, too, nowadays, it would feel like you're on Big Brother. The only safe space would be when you're taking a moose.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Outside of that, it's like you're, you know, and like there are no cameras in the bathroom. Outside of that, like, it's like you walk out and you are, you are, you got to stay. siffing up. You got to make sure that you're on your best behavior, which is weird, because eventually you'll see, you won't realize the cameras are there, and that's when you let your guard down and who knows what happens. Well, again, you talk about context. One guy who was not concerned, like you say, about context or what did I do last summer, was John Tortorella, as we take a look. At intermission, the two-gold deficit is almost incidental, with all the miscue's plainly visible on the ice.
Starting point is 00:36:06 And the players know that will be their coach's focus in his locker room address. They asked you to fucking defend. I've seen you fucking defend before. And you're going to do it here. If that's how we'll go to battle, we're not going to have a chance to win. Jesus Christ, how much time do we have to talk about it? If that's all the juice we have as far as competing against that team, we will get killed tonight.
Starting point is 00:36:37 And we have two periods here. So I've asked you all to buy into how we have to play. If that's it, we're fucking done. Pack it up. And I know that this fucking team isn't that way. I've seen ya. So let's, we have 40 fucking minutes to go. Take each shift at a time and chip away.
Starting point is 00:36:57 They are not that good in their end zone. And we know our club. That's the biggest fucking positive of our team is how hard we play. So fucking screw it on straight here. Screw it on and let's be ready to go each shift at a time. Okay? So stiffing up here. Everybody, help one another.
Starting point is 00:37:20 But I tell you, if you're not going to be stiff, you're not going to play. I'm warning you all. This is a contest here that's a good test for us where we are right now. Quarter of the season's done. Let's see what we are against the stiff hockey team. Let's be ready to go here now. Come on. It's about 90 seconds.
Starting point is 00:37:40 Yeah. And how frigging good is that, right? And again, we'd have to go back. I don't really know how that ended. I think they did come back and play pretty well. But yeah, you're ready to go through the goddamn wall for that. Yeah. For that guy, then you can appreciate what he says.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Yeah, he's right. Guys, we're better to that. Let's go. Yeah. No, I agree. Not Sheldon Keith pregame, right, is what you're saying. No. It was much more muted.
Starting point is 00:38:06 Well, I mean, I will say this. Sheldon down the stretch here has been very honest. Like, very, like, like he's called players out. In past years, when he's called players out, he's kind of gone around the edges and then retracted the next day. Because he didn't want it to be a big story. This, it's almost like he's like, listen, we're sinking or swimming. I'm in or I'm out. And I'm doing it my way.
Starting point is 00:38:36 because he's been, you know, game one, I didn't love that he kind of was like, you know, Max, he basically was like Max Domi has to be better, you know, the goal he has to be. Like he kind of called out some players instead of going, hey, we're going to be fine. Like he was like, this is what went wrong tonight. We were undisciplined. We didn't get to save. We didn't. And it's almost like he's like to hell with this.
Starting point is 00:38:57 Like I'm just going to speak my mind and see. Like last night he's lobbying that, you know, now Brad Marchand gets all the calls. and he's an expert at drawing calls in that, which he is. But you also got five power plays. Like that's like if you go two for five, the game looks different. So, you know, you can say Brad Marchand's the evil, you know, the bad guy, all of that, doing all these things. They still got five power plays.
Starting point is 00:39:24 If they had one on the night, then I could, I could, you know, get behind that. But bottom line is, is, yeah, Marchand was impactful last night. some of the players they relied on to be impactful weren't that's really what it is one for 11 in the series the leaf power play that's not need need nielander won't do it so now for you you're doing your you're hugely successful afternoon radio show uh but you're is it's it is it fair to say that your schedule has slowed down you're now getting back to a more no normal pace no because i i i'm now doing sports center nights at panels and stuff so for example I'll have to do a goalie hit for SportsCenter Day. And then I do overdrive. And then I do this Saturday. I'm on the Leaf Panel. On Sunday morning, I'm calling an under 18 USA and Slovakia.
Starting point is 00:40:17 I'm actually, it was just doing my sheets here. How they looking? Well, USA just pumped somebody today. It was like 9-0. I was watching. Oh, Slovakia, they tuned them up today. So, you know, I'm doing that. And then I'm doing Sports Center nights next week.
Starting point is 00:40:31 I'm basically doing the Evanton series, so I have to stay late at the studio and watch the game and then do analysis after. So my travel slows down, but my schedule ramps up right until July 2nd. But I am going to try and get back out to Evanton at least one more time and visit family and friends and all of that, probably in the next month. If Evanton makes it through the next round, I will. I was going to, sorry, Ryan, I think you were loading up there. No, I'm good.
Starting point is 00:40:59 I was just because we're keeping you. I don't want to keep you too long. Did you see the stuff that was going on in Salt Lake yesterday? The rink full of people and the kids lining up to meet the players coming off the plane and that whole thing. Pretty damn cool, right? It is. It's like they're going to do it up right there.
Starting point is 00:41:19 This guy knows, like, I'm not lying. Last time I was on the show, Pinder actually helped change my perspective on it because he gave me good, you know, good insight on. you're right now you're going to be the number two show in the city like this this owner knows how to do it you start digging in on the owner the guy is filthy rich he puts money into his teams he seems like he's not you know unhinged uh and they're going to be fine like i and i got a but i talked to a buddy who i don't know if i told you guys this who i played in salt lake with he married a girl from there and he was telling me it's like i'm telling you it's gonna kill
Starting point is 00:41:57 it here. He goes, there's a fan base here from when we played there. And he said, it's a sports town. Like, and they'll put money into it. He said it'll be fine. And he talked about the population. He said 30 minutes anywhere around the city, you've got two and a half million people. So he said, you're going to be able to fill that building. And there'll be stability with Ryan Smith. And then Arizona will go back under a new owner. And they'll build a rink in the right spot in Arizona will be an expansion team or whatever five years from now once that guy's deal runs out whenever. Yeah, good, good owner and average rank is better than good rank and below average owner.
Starting point is 00:42:37 I think is what we're going to see that. Never mind. Bad rank, bad owner. Yeah, that's what they ended up with. Yeah. Yeah, people will talk, oh, you only get 14 at the 12,000. You get up to whatever. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:47 It's better than it's better than the old term. And there's a new one coming. Come on, boys. Olympics are going there 2034. Yeah, Utah's going to be a good setup. I think it will be. I was kind of chucked on some of the players that went in there and that, I was like, well, that guy's not going to be on that team.
Starting point is 00:43:02 Why are you even going to? You got guys up on the stage talking. I'm like, why is that guy even talking? By October, he's not even going to be on the team. Some guys are so oblivious, hey? It's like, well, I'll see this. That team is young. They got tons of cap space.
Starting point is 00:43:19 They have a billion picks. And now they've got an owner that wants to make it impression early and they'll be right to the cap you can turn that number of picks into all kinds of fancy things yeah absolutely they'll be they'll be a team to be reckoned with next year like bill armstrong's on a really good job there amassing young assets and obviously the cap space because his owner's cheapest shit at least the old one was what have you applied for be seen as you kind of a hall of fame career down there like they know you they watch you what once a golden eagle always a golden eagle right I mean,
Starting point is 00:43:52 all the Eagles fly. Yeah. I should apply for something there. I don't know what I'd be skilled enough to. Come on. Color analyst on the broadcast. Everyone would be tuning in. Oh,
Starting point is 00:44:01 he's bigger than that. Pender, what do you? You don't want to travel with the team? He's taking over the best of the world. Go just go right over, over Armstrong's head. How many hours a week do you want to work?
Starting point is 00:44:13 The broadcast. Look at what he works now. This guy's too much. We got to back him off. I got enough jobs. You need the Iggy job. Yeah. where you're highly paid.
Starting point is 00:44:24 There's a big title. No one really sees you around. You don't really know what you're doing. And then you show up at the draft table and tell everyone what to do. That's true. I would love the Iggy job. But you have to be a Hall of Famer to do that. And I'm not.
Starting point is 00:44:36 In Salt Lake City you are. Don't you lie to me. Hall Fame broadcaster noodles. That's what I'm saying. You're right. I'm going to apply for something, but I don't know. I won't get it. Can we tell?
Starting point is 00:44:47 I don't know if I told this story already about Iggy. Dion's reply to I think a biggie at the Saddle Dome. No. Say that to you guys, Boomer? Yeah, I don't know if we set it on the show or not. Is that allowed? I think it's all right.
Starting point is 00:45:02 You remember it, No. I better not. I don't want to get it. When was it? We went into Conroy's office. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I don't know if you'd share that. I think you'd mention it.
Starting point is 00:45:18 It was a little jab. It wasn't nothing anything better. I know. We better leave it alone. I was texting with them yesterday and he's going to Finland because of Sunday. Byron Richie told me because Byron said he had to take care of his kid until he got there and that he listens to you on your pod, your show. He downloads it while he flies over in his pod on first class.
Starting point is 00:45:42 Well, yeah, Byron Richie is, I think, isn't he, Tisha's agent, isn't he? Yeah, kind of development agent. He's tied in there. Family advisor. Oh, yeah, sure. And his gets playing too. Either way, Tees is going to be a hell of a player. Be interesting to see where he ends up.
Starting point is 00:45:57 I saw a meme. I don't know if you guys saw that at Calgary. It was like Craig Conroy on stage dancing. And it said, making the ninth pick of, you know, Tij Gingla. So I don't know. Tees might make it to nine. He might make it sooner or later. I don't know where I haven't seen where the latest rankings are.
Starting point is 00:46:14 And where, I mean, obviously where Calgary is going to land after, you know, when it gets. So they got to water. He takes Celebrity. got to find that second pick to get teedge come on yeah that's red's thing is yeah take tea and then have another pick either first overall or get another one so that you can you can have that's the end yeah well you if you trade the goalie you get a first rounder right so who in the top 12 wants a goalie that's that age there might be one team where's jersey going to pick again well what's but they've jake allen so what are they doing here like i just feel like their best offers passed
Starting point is 00:46:46 am I crazy? Why can't you have Markstrom and Jake Allen? Well, I don't think that works with their cap structure because now it's like you're close to $10 million on two goalies, not four. Oh, poop, boom, my shitty idea. It's a great idea. It's a great idea. I just don't think that's the team.
Starting point is 00:47:02 What is Jake, is he at 2.8? I thought he's more than that. No, I think he signed an extension in Montreal at a lower rate to stay. Let's look. But yeah, I just thought when they went and got him, it's like, okay, they have these young kids like Dawes and Schmead. One of them's going to back up and Alan's already there with term.
Starting point is 00:47:21 Their need for Markstrom drops significantly, whereas a team like L.A. or say Colorado, like those are the teams going to come over the top for it. Get creative. Well, they should. You're right on L.A. and Colorado. If Georgie 5 doesn't take, put his gear on. But he was good the other night.
Starting point is 00:47:39 It was good. Now, I can't claim credit for this. but it's Giorgiyev but Rob Brown and Ebenton calls him Georgie 5 because there's a V at the end. Yeah. I think it's brilliant.
Starting point is 00:47:53 I'm like, I was trying to piece that together when you said it, yeah. I'm running with it. I think it's brilliant. So I can't take credit for it, but I'm like, Georgie 5, I think is an awesome name.
Starting point is 00:48:06 Yeah, Alan makes 3.8, 5, but the Habs retained half. So he's under two to Jersey. So they would have room for him and Mark. You would have room. And I just, you'd be interesting to see who in the off season loads up and takes another run, you know. And that's where probably Connie was saying, hey, if it didn't work at the deadline, let's see what it looks like in the draft or at, you know, in the off season here once there's musical chairs. Again, you know, Cam Talbot, he stands on his head and gets through a, but he's unrestricted too.
Starting point is 00:48:37 L.A. has zero goal contract for next year. So they, they're going to need guys. Yeah. And Colorado, you know, they've got Anunnun, the Eusis Annen, whose head is like a massive, bigger than Christoph Oluas. Really? Oh, my God. Pumpkin.
Starting point is 00:48:53 Huge head. I walked by him. I'm like, God, that guy's head is huge. But he's a big goalie. And he looks like he's got, and they got the other kid, Prasat. Yeah. Yeah, Possetsov. They called him up.
Starting point is 00:49:05 He's a monster, too. But I don't know if these guys are everyday guys. they're still developing, right? So get someone hot for a month. You'll be fine, Colorado. Exactly. Exactly. Buddy, appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:49:20 Take care of yourself. I will see you one week from now. Very good. And I will be drinking my cove. No, free plug. So we're moving to Wednesdays now? You're not going to do Wednesday next week. I'm Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:49:31 Okay. I was traveling last week. That's what it was. Or this, I was traveling yesterday. That's right. We got to even know what day it is. Doesn't know what day it is. He's just like what state he's in.
Starting point is 00:49:41 I'm literally working right through until next Saturday. You're a maniac. Take some time. Why don't you? Why do you hate your kids so much? Jeez. I'm around them. I work from home.
Starting point is 00:49:50 I see them all the time. I'm going to pick up the little billy goat here and about an hour. They drive you nuts some days. Some. All right. Like my daughter's a Swifty. I told you. So I'm just,
Starting point is 00:50:01 everything's about Taylor Swift. And my son, he's six years old. You know, he's a little goal. He's trying things out. And I don't know. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:50:11 We'll see. I don't want him to be a goalie, but he might be. You never know. All right, guys. All right, fella. Appreciate you. Hang on really quickly here.
Starting point is 00:50:22 Just some breaking news. Yeah. Bob Cole has passed at the age of 90. That just being announced. Do you have a quick thought? I know if you've got to run, you got to run. But Bob is an absolute icon.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Absolutely. I mean, all you think about with Bob Cole is what we all grew up with, right? like that's all I can think of is you know that was Saturday night you watch whether it's Montreal Toronto Boston you name it like Bob Cole you know especially in my business now I work with play by play guys all the time the key was the guy like that was it like you know Bob and Harry and when we grew up you heard about Foster Hewitt all the time everybody guy you know our fathers you know the generation oh was foster hewitt that was the soundtrack to saturdays
Starting point is 00:51:05 and for guys our age and yeah I like to think that's a big a big group. It was Bob Cole. I mean, you had a great life. It's not, you know, but I, it's, it's always sad because you, you remember, like I remember the last time I saw him at the rink. It was a couple years ago.
Starting point is 00:51:23 And, you know, for me, it's, it's sometimes it's still, I don't know how you guys feel. When you run into people at the rink and, like, they're, they're legends, but they know your name. It's weird. Like, I've always, like, I've always been, like, weirded out by that, you know, like I always I always go to introduce myself and he'll be like hey Jamie how it's weird like I you know
Starting point is 00:51:44 and and Bob last time I saw him same thing. It was very as usual, very kind, very gracious. You know, you show your respects and you kind of move on. I don't try and take up too much time or space with him. But it was last time I saw him, I'm trying to remember what rank it was in. I think it was in Toronto. But, you know, obviously a legend and be interesting to see what type of tributes there will be coming in because the whole hockey world has been affected by him.
Starting point is 00:52:12 Like it's been touched by him in a positive way. Yeah. Twice he skipped Newfoundland at the Breyer. Like we're talking about what most interesting man in the world. What a legend. The sound of playoff hockey in my head, honestly. Yeah. Like just off the top of my head,
Starting point is 00:52:26 I just think of Joe Sackick at Salt Lake. You know, Joe Sackick scores. And Mario doing the inside out on Minnesota and beating. John Casey. Oh, baby, when Mario's doing the fist pie. It's endless. His cadence. Like everything about him, his timing was perfect. Like, you know, even RJ in Buffalo, I always loved RJ. Like, I thought his calls were awesome. Like, I always had a lot of time for him. I go back sometimes. I don't know why. You go on YouTube and you look at that one call where Ikel scores in overtime and they've got their camera on him and he just throws his arms up. Well, you know, like I love.
Starting point is 00:53:07 going back and so now I'll get caught down a rabbit hole looking at and listening to Bob Cole clips because, you know, he was that important and impactful. Yeah. For me, the whole thing about being a play by play voice was you need to be able to, you got to deliver the goods, you got to be able to describe what's happening. But when you're on TV, sometimes you don't need to be right in the way all the time. And I thought he was one of the, he will get you excited. the soundtrack, he made the games more exciting.
Starting point is 00:53:42 And just like you say, his cadence would add to it. Where some guys like, just stop talking. Let the crowd do it. Or just that we don't need that right now. And some people make fun of it because you kind of, this what is happening here tonight. Yeah. You know, but that was that was what it was.
Starting point is 00:54:03 It was awesome. A great play-by-play person lets things breathe. Yeah. And he used to let things breathe. Now, my understanding, because I never worked with him, but Mike Johnson, who I worked with at TSN, worked with him, and he had, like, certain rules for his color guys. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:19 So he didn't want you talking. Puck drop, you weren't allowed to talk. It was him. And he said, like, somebody sitting on their couch wants to hear the play-by-play person, and they want to watch the game. They don't want to be distracted by people talking. Like, you want to describe it,
Starting point is 00:54:36 but you want to let them, enjoy the experience. He had an unbelievable philosophy where other play-by-play people you work with, it's an ongoing conversation. And you, you know, you kind of include the listener. So it's different. But I knew with Bob Cole, he had his rules and his rules were perfect for him because he let things breathe. And he just let people watch. And it was almost like he was sitting on the couch with you describing the game. It's great. In that same vein, I got to let you go. Gosh, we would go, but in that same almost, you know, vintage. I loved when I was able to watch Peter Mark call a game.
Starting point is 00:55:14 Oh, yeah. When he would be upstairs and he had that same thing. He just, he knew the cadence and all of it. And he would, he'd hold his hand up. Then I score. Jerome McGenla. And then as soon as he'd let his hand down, then Mike Rogers would know, okay, I'm good to go. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:31 So he's directing traffic. Hang on. Just wait. I'm going to feel this. I'm going to set you up and then you go. And it's, yeah, that's a big part of being that play-by-play voice is knowing the numbers and stats and all that, but also being able to tell that story with the crowd, with the players, and all of it. Yeah, it is.
Starting point is 00:55:52 Yeah, it's all about timing. And these people are, you know, all of them were legends at it. They were perfect at it. And you grew up with it. You know, Peter Marr, you know, Flames fans were so lucky because you just everything, everything he threw out there. was, you know, it was great. Like he just, his calls were great. I know in Toronto, they love Joe Bowen here.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Like everybody loves their local broadcasters, right? Because those broadcasters are part of the experience. Yeah, that's your lifeline to the team. It's the lifeline. You know, it depends. Some people love them. Some people, I went, I was in Boston last week or two weeks ago. And Jack Edwards announced that he was going to be moving on.
Starting point is 00:56:29 I went in and saw him. And, you know, Jack's unique. He's an acquired taste, obviously for, for Boston fans love him. him people outside the market hate him because he's you know he makes comments and take shots at players and stuff like that but you know he's a legend i i had to go in and shake his hand and say congrats in your career because you know i and and and indy brickley the guy works with i played with brick in utah no way i played with brick in utah and in solid city and in denver he was a beauty so anyways they're all legends and we're getting older but that's sad to hear that bob cole passed
Starting point is 00:57:04 Thanks, Jamie. We'll talk to you next week. Have a good one, buddy. You bet, guys. Chat later. Here I go. Jamie McClennan, joining us here on the show today. Yeah, it's going to be, there will be some time today, for sure, spent on the old internet. Yeah. I always had a hard time because near, you know, even the last five years of his career, people would be,
Starting point is 00:57:26 oh, you know, it gets the numbers wrong or whatever. Misnaming, guys, that happens, yeah. Okay. But does he make the game more, exciting because there's nothing more disappointing. And you'll see some of it right now. Yeah. Where the games are kind of dull. And it's the,
Starting point is 00:57:42 it's the play-by-play guy's job in a way to wrap that up for you, to make it exciting. You're there. So it's exciting. Okay, well, I'll maybe buy in. But when it's the cadence is low and back, you're not,
Starting point is 00:57:57 you're not selling me on it. But I, it was, I don't even remember when it was. It would have been in the playoffs. because I was in, I was in Edmonton for a game. And at the old rank up there, North Lions.
Starting point is 00:58:09 Remember the press box was just kind of this ring that hung from the, from the ceiling with a catwalk that went all the way around. And the fans in the, in the second bowl or whatever it would be, they're almost at eye level with you when you're on the press box. And Bob Cole was there and he wasn't working that night. He might, maybe it was a Friday, whatever it was. He wasn't working.
Starting point is 00:58:34 was in town to do a game though and there was this group of guys in one of the citizens that started chatting Bob Cole sucks Bob Cole sucks and I think it was Craig Simpson it was some it was a former oiler
Starting point is 00:58:50 who was doing color I don't know if it was him or if it was DeBrusk or who it might have been and they kind of looked over at the you couldn't not hear it kind of looked over at the group of fans and he's like what are doing shut on
Starting point is 00:59:03 and then you just kind of look back at Bob. He's, well, what do you do? You know, he just kind of, he kind of shrugged it off. But I was like, that's the shit, like, that's Bob friggin Cole, you, you assholes. It was just, it was one of the, I felt so bad for him that night. I'm like, who am I to go up and put my arm around him and tell him that he's one of my favorite broadcasters of all time. But it was like, Jesus, that's, that was, that sucked because he was so great.
Starting point is 00:59:30 Well, and the only way Bob Cole wouldn't them at a standard is if you were comparing it to prime Bob Cole, just like if you saw Gretzky at the end with the Rangers, that was never going to live up to Gretzky as a king or an oiler. I mean, he was the greatest play-by-play broadcaster probably ever for the sport of hockey. Was he as good when he was in his 70s as when he was in his 50s? No, but he was still a goddamn legend. You could be in the kitchen.
Starting point is 00:59:55 You could be pouring a drink. Bob Cole's cadence, not the words, would tell you, you need to get your ass back to the TV or you'd be okay. No one could just deliver the energy of the game as well as he did. It was an art. Well, for us on this show, we've been doing this show frigging forever. Where did the Red Wings play? Detroit.
Starting point is 01:00:17 Detroit. And what's that, the Cardinals are the baseball team that plays in that city. What's the hockey team that? St. Louis. Bloss. Bloss. It's just, it's the best. just the best. So good.
Starting point is 01:00:36 So there's noodles. We kind of got into it. I just want to tell you about service credit union because it's a million dollars. It's just sleep. Starting point is 01:02:00 But it was a gloss one. I don't mind telling you. You know, my, what I had the oil? I was thinking about Betway because I wanted to make you feel better, right? you had 0 for 3. I had the Oilers to win by a goal and a half, a goal and a half, and that did not happen. No. And I'm trying to remember what,
Starting point is 01:02:20 oh, I had a point, I believe, for a hurdle. And that didn't happen. So hey, buddy. Oh, scoring. Yeah, remember when we looked at my bets and it was like, Oilers minus one and a half in the over? And you're like, these are easy. Why are these plus numbers? Yeah, this is so easy. When everyone feels like Vegas is dumb,
Starting point is 01:02:37 usually were the dumb ones, were the marks. When everyone's like, oh, this number is wrong. the number's right. Only Vegas saw that being close last night. Over did hit, but geez, like, LA for the gap there between those two clubs to go home tied, that's a huge night for them. Can we, do you have something, boom?
Starting point is 01:02:58 No, you go ahead. I was going to ask when noodles is on, but we always keep them for so damn long. I feel guilty. Watching TV down here months ago, maybe a month ago, six weeks ago. doesn't matter, but before the playoffs started, but plenty into the season, they did a kind of a poll where the panel was ranking goaltenders in the league.
Starting point is 01:03:22 And that huge surprise to me, I was going to swear, but every time I swear, no, I have to do a pushup. So I don't swear. Anyway, this panel doing this goaltender rankings and Skinners in the top five. No. And I'm like, what in, I swear. Of goalies that play in Alberta? Like what possible list?
Starting point is 01:03:48 I know. Okay. So I'm not just completely idiotic when I saw that. What? And I think it was it was X. NHLers. These guys. I think what happens is people fall in love with these traditional stats
Starting point is 01:04:04 that don't talk at all about the environment the goaltender plays in. And so, you know, if at certain points of the season, if you look there, especially when the Oilers were on a 16 game heater, yeah, he has really good traditional goalie stats because of course he does. They're in the other end with the puck all night. But when you adjust for the environment, he's not elite at all. At best, he's a middle of the pack goalie. If you had to rank starters around the playoffs, there's 16 teams. I say Boston has two starters.
Starting point is 01:04:33 Like, where does he fall in? 11 to 15? Like if there's 17 goalies, we're called. starters in the playoffs right now? Yeah, I would say. It's not the goalie you'll want to be hanging Cup chances on for your two superstars, but that's where they are because Campbell blew up in their face.
Starting point is 01:04:50 Talbot, Skinner, Georgie 5. Georgie 5 would be in that group, although he certainly looked better. I don't know where you'd put Charlie Lindgren because he's been a nobody, but he's red hot for half the year, but this is the whole thing with goalies. Like, Sergey Bobrovsky had lost his job to Alex Lyon last year at this time.
Starting point is 01:05:06 Who's playing a net for Vegas? it's Logan Thompson right now. It's not eight in hell. It is, the position is so fraught with volatility that if you want to pick a day and say, here's the best goal in the world, like, sure, but over time, there's really, like, if you had to pick a top three to five, like it's Vasilevsky, it's Sorokin, it's Shosturkin, it's Hellebuck, maybe you throw someone like Demko in there. But even those guys are doing this. Like, Sturkin was under 900 the first half of the year and then came running in at like 930 for after the All-Star break. Goleys.
Starting point is 01:05:41 What would you say about goalies, Ryan? I mean, if you had to really just put it in a nutshell and be like, okay, this position, I'd say goal toending. So good at it. Fucking voodoo. He said the word. He had stopped saying the word. I don't know. Someone told me it was mean, and then I just see it everywhere.
Starting point is 01:06:01 I'm like, what is mean about it? I don't know. Is it a religion? Are the voodooites, like, offended when I say it like that? I don't know. It's not like it's gypsies. Maybe it is. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:06:10 I don't have a lot of intel on voodoo nor gypsies. Yeah, do gypsies, do they practice the voodoo? Is that a thing? No, gypsies. Not familiar. There's the caravans at the Perry Winklebleu? Perry Winkleblis. Or squatters.
Starting point is 01:06:29 Huh? Did you watch gentlemen? No. Told you to watch. I know you did. I forgot the name. And you said it's a five-part series? Eight part or something.
Starting point is 01:06:38 I guess there might be something on TV these nights. No, there's been a little bit. Are we, are we Prime? Are we Netflix? Are we Apple? One of the streaming things. Oh, good. Okay, thanks.
Starting point is 01:06:47 So you wouldn't have been up, obviously, for the OT. No, God, no. I would hear that. I'd love to have been, but it was late. I don't mind saying this. I did one of these. I was right here in my little thing. I got a TV up here.
Starting point is 01:07:01 So I'm taking my notes. I'm watching the game, whatever, just kind of watching. And I did one of these. And I'll give you the sound because it's late. Everyone's asleep. that's that was that was the noise because I caught myself like that was kind of a weird did you do that earlier in the night too the same I yeah I was on the coach very early in overtime and it's in the most innocuous play that somehow byfield tips what's supposed to be just
Starting point is 01:07:33 get a piece of it so it's not icing and it springs copatar on a breakaway and it's like Copi! Bha! Bha! What is it? What is it? What he's like, got the dart
Starting point is 01:07:44 and he's pointed at the TV. Yeah, and now tonight, we'll talk about tonight, I guess. What are we got tonight? Two games, that's it.
Starting point is 01:07:54 Lightslakes. It's round one of the playoffs. Yeah. Islanders again, screwing us. That rank will be interesting. I think there'll be some energy there, but I don't know if I hope so the series.
Starting point is 01:08:07 No. And the other one's a banger that just has been buried a bit. It was a 10.30 start on Sunday. And then I think it was running up against some other shit in prime time on off on the side channel. But Tampa win tonight. And this gets very interesting against Florida. Well, we need one. Yes, we do.
Starting point is 01:08:27 Because if you don't get it, then it's not a lot interesting. Yeah, no, you're right. It's like, if you're at home and you need a win to tie series, here we are. And if it's 03, like just click. Sorry. I don't care how many cups you guys have collectively. Yeah. And I don't know.
Starting point is 01:08:44 Watching that series, it leaves you wanting a little bit from Tampa because they've had those slow starts in both games one and two. We didn't get a shot on goal until about the 15 minute mark. Yeah, both. Um, but how much of it is them kind of being underwhelming and leaving you wanting and how much is it on the other side? Just this is how damn good Florida is. They're just built for the, for the, this, they're built for this shit. And Bobrovsky's been out of his mind.
Starting point is 01:09:12 If he doesn't make some of these saves, what is happening? If it's just average goaltending. If it's top five goalie Stuart Skinner in the net, what are we talking about? I don't know. Yeah, that's the thing. If Bob isn't their best player, he's one of the near the top right now.
Starting point is 01:09:29 It's a one goal game and an overtime game. I hope we have a long series here. It hasn't been lopsied. This hasn't been like watching Rangers' caps. Yeah, but, you know, I want a long series. Well, I kind of do, but I want Florida to win. It was kind of like Carolina and Florida last year in the semis. Yeah, it went four, but.
Starting point is 01:09:48 Yeah, Carolina was right there. It went for the other way. Yeah. Yeah, even Toronto, Florida was like that. I really thought the Leafs out played them a bunch, but if a goal is just going to go 950 on you, you're kind of fucked. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:00 Asked to Detroit when they played that for. Push up. What's the rule here? What is happening here? What is this fine system you have in? I'm fine tuning myself, Dean. I want to be a better human. Constant improvement.
Starting point is 01:10:12 Oh, you know, I wake up, I look in the mirror and I say, you're gorgeous, but you can be even better. Hey, good looking. Let's be even better than we were yesterday. Those morning affirmations, is that what you've got there? I don't know what they are. Hey, sex machine, let's do some push-ups together. Three things I'm thankful for.
Starting point is 01:10:32 And three things. Who likes it? You. People I live with. Uh, push up, push up. Whenever there's a curse,
Starting point is 01:10:42 you have to do a pushup. This feels new. How long have we had this institute? About three days. Yeah. Uh, and so, how are the shoulders
Starting point is 01:10:51 if we're doing pushups? Because I don't want, yeah? I don't want, just the right angle. It's the up. As long as they're below, if I keep the arm below the shoulder blade.
Starting point is 01:11:01 This is bad. Ah. Are we doing, uh, are we doing the pushups from our toesies or are we on our knees? toes just wondering everyone's getting older just curious if you're still if you're still doing the I was curious about this I'm I think I know the answer but I'm in the states where they can't nobody can be questioned on their
Starting point is 01:11:23 physical abilities do they still have that fitness Canada in the schools you remember when you were a kid and you had to do the arm hang dean did you have to do that pender participation yeah get an action I'm some stuff of this. I just don't know what was like participation, Hal and Joanne or if it was just a crazy phys ed teacher. That's body brace, Ryan. That's, that's, that's, yeah. Yeah, we
Starting point is 01:11:47 had to do the hang and what else. A 400 meter run or something like that. Sit-ups. Do we have the 12 minute, I forget what it was. But then there was your favorite, the sit and reach where you would sit and they would have,
Starting point is 01:12:03 it was very fancy and technical. Yeah. You would sit with your feet and they have the meter stick and then at the time a chalk brush that you would sit on the thing and you have to lean forward and push it so you can imagine with old
Starting point is 01:12:19 old alligator arms over here how well that went. Even then flexible is all get out I'm sure but yeah it was not leading the class in the old sit and reach or whatever the frig we call then there'd be you with your friggin arms
Starting point is 01:12:35 down to your arrogant the whole time too just cocky about it oh this what are you guys struggling at this like what's we're provincials this year ladies you want to watch this ladies oh wow look at a sit and reach goodness is that route warner you know if i get better at this i won't need a girlfriend at all oh geez time for a message from our partners at aroused bringing the sex into sexual health, medical therapies to optimize your life in the bedroom, and the bathroom. You're like, what?
Starting point is 01:13:18 Well, there's a couple things of play here. Are you waking up at night to go to the bathroom? You need to pee all the time. You notice maybe after a couple beers, you need to use the washroom really badly and more often. There is a treatment called Emcella that you have with Aroused. And I'll throw it out there right now. It will be aroused.ca is the website.
Starting point is 01:13:38 Mcella is a treatment, proven treatment for men to regain control over their bladder. Prostate health improves erections. There's nothing. It's just going to help everything with the Mcella. And then there's Vyashore, powerful softwave technology, 15-minute treatments, forms new blood vessels, which increases blood flow to the penis. You'll get it results in two to three weeks. And this is about preventative treatments.
Starting point is 01:14:07 Think of it like working out before you have health issues. Just doing the right things in advance. Safe place to prevent and preserve your sexual function. And the thing of it is we're dumb. We're guys, all right? We know this. Don't really talk about this sort of stuff. Maybe we'll joke about it.
Starting point is 01:14:25 But is there a serious place to address issues when they arrive? It can be a touchy thing. It can be hard to do. This is what it's about. Aroused preventative treatments for men. Optimize your sexual. function, medically advanced technologies, help you bring spontaneity back to the bedroom. Drug free.
Starting point is 01:14:47 This is not popping a pill. This is about being better, improving your function. Be aroused. DotCA. Book a consultation. Two to three weeks. Did I mention? Realize results?
Starting point is 01:15:00 That's quick to three weeks. Yes. Decent. Be aroused. A solution deed. That's right. That's right. aroused.ca is the website.
Starting point is 01:15:12 Well, I guess it's time for the Pender Report. Oh, you're going to like today's. It's time for the Gator River. Yeah. I had three crocodile items. I had to drop down the two. It's time for the Reptile Report with Ryan Pinder. Brought to you by Village Honda.
Starting point is 01:15:29 The, well, the CRV for Calgary. Unpredictable weather. Yeah, we get it all the time. No matter what the conditions, the CRV sits atop the pack among compact SUVs. you'll be confident behind the wheel of your CRV. Honda has included a plethora of driver safety features that come standard. You can take one for a test drive, see it in person at the Northwest Automall with Village Honda.
Starting point is 01:15:51 And of course, visit them online at VillageHonda.com. Village Honda. Ryan Pinder, Rindon. The Pinder Report. All right. Well, let's start with the H.L. Ranglers as the Baby Flames, as they probably don't like being. called were in action last night in Tucson
Starting point is 01:16:10 and would you look at this retro. A win against the two seeds, the seven seeded wranglers who struggled mightily in April and toyed with a lot of young players on ATOs in the lineup were back to business. Dustin Wolf back between the pipes.
Starting point is 01:16:27 46 save, shut out. He's a great A.H.L. Galton. Well, he has been and apparently perhaps a new high bar for him. Speaking with someone in the organization, let's see. Maybe best game I've ever seen him play.
Starting point is 01:16:46 Sensational night against Tucson. 46 saves is just nuts, guys. They probably did not do well on the deserve to win meter. And yet they're up one on the road in a best of three, win one of the next two, and we got games at the dome. Go get it. This bodes very well for the Wranglers and the Calgary HL. Crease retro, hey?
Starting point is 01:17:10 This is tremendous. If your kids aren't going to be playing playoff hockey in the NHL right now, like Matt Coronado adds an empty netter. There's also, you know, Wolf there, a bunch of kids that have come up and play some D. You've got some new kids that are like Hansik and Brestevich and Lipinski that are watching and taking notes more. This is the environment you want your kids in. Get them in the heat of a series and learn about what it takes to win.
Starting point is 01:17:35 Not my kids. You mean like the kids on the team. Well, I mean, your kids probably would benefit from watching this team. I mean, who would? My kids would benefit from watching. What would my kids benefit? Like something to make them realize they're spoiled breath. I can't swear.
Starting point is 01:17:52 I was going to swear again. I caught myself. See how it's working for it? That's really, yeah, effective strategy you've got there. We'll move from the American League. That was a Wednesday game one. They got Friday, Saturday games two or three. Let's go, Wranglers.
Starting point is 01:18:08 Get us some dates at the dome. Let's roll. Let's roll. The worlds are coming up and the Americans are sending a nice young statement. Look at this. Boldie. Caulfield. America. Johnny Goudreau. Not sure that cat is. Brady Kachuk, Trevor Zegris. Sanders, you're a faker. Luke Hughes. Sanderson, your boys, boy.
Starting point is 01:18:31 Faker. He's a faker. What did he fake? He's faking American. He's dual. Well, that means he can pick. Is he a fake Canadian? Fake American or fake both? I feel like he's in Tuskaw? He can't win.
Starting point is 01:18:43 They can't wait for the checks. Alex Lion and Net thus far. It's in Czechia. This may, that's coming up quick. Geez. And Alex Vlasic will have more of the towering Chicago Blackhawks defensemen who might not
Starting point is 01:18:57 a ring a bell a year ago. Just got paid fellows after a great year playing on a bad Blackhawks team. More on him in a moment. Monday nights are going to be different next year watching hockey in Canada. Why? Well,
Starting point is 01:19:10 What's happened in the States is finally happening in Canada. This is our boy Adam Seaborne, the Seahorn, announcing this out of Toronto yesterday, that a Monday night Amazon hockey package is where games will be. So that is new. Is this because the government had to get involved and not allow? No, it probably has more to do with Sportsnet spending more money than they can afford on all the rights. So they're parceling some off to make more money. There's the arrangement with the NHL and Amazon streaming service.
Starting point is 01:19:40 prime. Get ready to stream some hockey next year. It's as though a lot of broadcasting is going digital. It's weird. It's like traditional spaces are seeding territory to digital assets.
Starting point is 01:20:00 We should look into that. Here's something to look into, another vacancy in the NHL's coaching carousel as David Quinn coached his HL team to 19 wins in the NHL. This is, year and they didn't like the job he did that's ignorant that it really when macklin celebrini suits up for game one next year yeah who are you going to think because david quinn
Starting point is 01:20:24 ain't going to be there ghostbusters that's who yeah i mean david quinn your boy david quinn you can't give him a high five good job buddy they'll dq what an ignorant move by the the new gym there in san Jose mike greer your boy yeah greer that guy gruezy guy Now, the other thing is, they also... Jay McKee's buddy Smith. Honestly, how are you not snuggled up to that guy? My mind thoughts are coming out of my mouth. Yeah, you do that in your head.
Starting point is 01:20:53 Let me finish. Then we'll come back to you to second here. So not only were they awful and they fired the coach, they led the league and the number of players placed on LTIR this season. And David Quinn, this is, okay. Rett back to you. Any thoughts on this coaching vacancy, Rhett?
Starting point is 01:21:12 there's people I know that know that guy that makes the decisions. This is, we've got a straw. Do I like California as where I'm at? Oh, please. You don't like the taxes, but everything else you'll love. A lot of taxes. Nice places are more expensive. Is it the Tleki Pecki, Peck of the drink I like there in San Jose?
Starting point is 01:21:33 Oh, at the Mexican place? Yes. Oh, I'll need more than Tilecki, Tlecki. Techie. Text for gear. Text for gear. What's the drink that Retro likes from the Mexican place? Yeah, you text Rhett's friend to get the answer to Rhett.
Starting point is 01:21:50 And then you can do it. Oh, he won't answer me. He's mad. What about? I can't tell you. Does that anything to do with your flaky noncommittal? Where in the world are going to live the rest of your life? If that would play into anything.
Starting point is 01:22:03 That's right. Let's go to Utah where the Utah somethings were unveiled in front of a very excited crowd in Salt Lake City's Delta Center, which won't be there much longer. They're going to build a new one, but packed house. It's great. Like, right to the rafters, the gunnels,
Starting point is 01:22:22 capacity crowd. Now, when you say, I mean, they're going to be there for a couple years. It'll be more than that. Yeah, they're not broken ground. It takes two to three years to build a stadium. So, yeah, they'll be there a little bit longer. Let's not depress everyone with the details,
Starting point is 01:22:39 Dean, because guess who else doesn't have a rink started. Shovels in the ground after stampede, rat. They're just waiting for you and your shitty shoulders to come push that gold on into the ground.
Starting point is 01:22:47 Let's go. I wonder if I'll be invited to that. Probably. They love you down there. Yeah, you're a big hit. Ever since you wore that cowhide to Mika's
Starting point is 01:22:58 retirement night, I think you're probably first on their left. It's such a nice jacket. It's just unfair that you're taking taking shots about this. Sam Bennett got hurt. We told you that yesterday.
Starting point is 01:23:08 Here's your timeline. Paul Murray saying at least a week. If he could be back to series, they could have moved on by then. That's not the worst for Tampa Bay. A little edge there. Okay, sure. Alex Vlasic got paid.
Starting point is 01:23:26 We told you that earlier. Here is more. I'd be like six years times 4.6. Is that Vlasic's son? I mean, somebody Vlasic's son guaranteed. I don't know that you'd change your last name to Vlasic from something else. I'm just saying that Vlasic is older. enough to have a, I don't know how old this guy is, I guess.
Starting point is 01:23:45 But I believe he's like 23. He is from the Chicago area. And he had a superb, he's a monster, superb defensive season. Good for him. On a bad, bad team. So that, that could turn into one of the best value deals in hockey if he continues to bloom. Alex. Boy, Al.
Starting point is 01:24:05 Is that his favorite player is Rhett Warner growing up? Block a shot. No, it's not. I just made it up. Okay. Smooth. Uh, Kings and Oilers last night. I'm breaking news, Ryan.
Starting point is 01:24:15 Okay. Yeah. Uh, we've heard back from Robin Regier. Yeah. Uh, what are you calling it? Felike, pecky or, he's calling it chivales. Well, what's the restaurant versus the drink probably? No, there are chival's, but it's, he's an idiot.
Starting point is 01:24:34 The last, and you know, it's great the text interaction I have with Reg, that it's basically me asking him questions for you. Uh, we're doing this. show question about the bears then bar in granlid ever been that was my last text to him this one is what's the drink in san jose that ret loves either way it's delicious i don't give you like i'm in the middle of a you know a lover's quarrel here you should have a square word yes are you sure yes it qualifies it can't be on tv okay so i'm i'm i'm going to try and get closer to it. I've typed out. He says it's something like
Starting point is 01:25:17 Teleki Pecky. Is that Mexican drink? Is that fair ret? Like a, give us Teleki pecky. Just ask him what's in it. This shitty shiva. Two. Two push-ups now. Well, let's go.
Starting point is 01:25:41 Kings and Oilers last night. Did you see the scramble around Camp Talbot's net? I mean, try to explain the sport to a stranger. thinks in there. Yeah. Are you digging for gold? Did you lose your contact?
Starting point is 01:25:56 Connor McDavid was hot. He said it was in. And then he said there was a hand on the puck and there was no video. And he said there was a trap. Oh! Talk about goals that were in. Oh, dear. You tell him, Rhett.
Starting point is 01:26:10 Winer. Rhett, do you have any experience with Ryan, move on. Maybe it goals that shattered. Ryan, back to you. Uh, tonight, two games. Let's start in the. The Sunshine State. That was my car.
Starting point is 01:26:28 Game three, five o'clock, our time. Two pretty good Russian goalies there. No good. Two of the four best Russian goalies. If we did a bloody Olympics or World Cup and Russia was allowed to play, like, Sorokin, Shostirken, Vasilevsky, Babrovsky, what are we talking about? You can only play one, Ryan?
Starting point is 01:26:46 Holy shit. Only play one. Crazy. Can we borrow a couple? Do any of these guys want to identify as Canadian? That's four guys better than the best Canadian goalie by a mile. We should adopt. We should offer.
Starting point is 01:27:00 How long? No, I could just look. How long has Bobber been making 10 million tax-free? I think this is your five of seven. Shees. Ten sheets. He's having a one-and-a-half good regular seasons and one good playoffs. Little life.
Starting point is 01:27:18 Florida. The whales rib every night. I hear of Florida, I don't like you. too. I just went muggy though, Rhett. I'll, you know what? I'll visit other places. Swass. But what do you do right now? If you go deep
Starting point is 01:27:33 into a playoff run, you're talking May, early June, there's... I'm living in Florida. I don't give a rat's hoop about hockey. He's trying really hard not to swear. I'm bartending. I got a boat. I'm doing tours.
Starting point is 01:27:49 Are you going down to Bartenders Week in the Keys again? What kind of a boat or we got a part to him. There was a bartender. She can get the things back on, get back out there, showing it off. There's a lot we got going for. How did the two of you meet? It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 01:28:07 Oh, I think it matters a lot. Love at first sight, that's how. I think she had a boyfriend and told me to F off. How'd that go for him? Yeah. Let's, I mean, I wouldn't mind staying here, but that's all we have to say. Oh, you'll say something ignorant. That is true.
Starting point is 01:28:27 How about this one? Hurricane Islanders tonight, game three. UBS Arena. UBS. There's the snake collector on the left and the former Flames draft slot on the right. Yes, you did need Travis Hammondick and trade away that picked the turns into Noah Dobson plus two more.
Starting point is 01:28:48 Coming a backpack item is he collects Norris. He's in on every deal. This guy is in on everything. He's dialed into every deal. where can turn his phone off. Becoming a backpack item. It's not a top 10, but it might be
Starting point is 01:29:07 ever heard Noah Dobson's name mentioned. When you're in the room that I don't get the the flame side, you got a draft pick draft, slot traps, how do you guys, need drafts, have down, no, it's every. And so here's the difference. Noah Dobson, we used to bring up twice a year
Starting point is 01:29:24 because the flames to play the honors twice. Now that he's one of the best, I don't know, five defensemen the league, his name comes up a little more. Noah Dobson's a top five D-Man in the league. I think he's got a shot at top five in Norrisons. So, Dino,
Starting point is 01:29:38 if he finishes top five in Norris votes this year, what are you going to do for me? To prove me wrong. Ryan, I mean, top five in Norris votes, what happens? What do you do? You're so confident. Stop it. I'll take my shovel now.
Starting point is 01:29:52 I mean, Jesus Christ, Ryan, what do you, like? Oh, my God. It's two push-ups. You love to fight. I get it. but sometimes just put your sword down. It's okay. So again, that's another pushup.
Starting point is 01:30:09 You don't think he'll be top five in Norris votes. I don't give a shit if he's top five in Norris votes. He's not, you're saying he's a top five D man in what? The national in New York or the national hockey league? Well, I was the point would be if he was top five in Norris votes, that would mean he's a top five defenseman in the NHO. According to, again, Dean, give it to him.
Starting point is 01:30:28 According to the people that vote on the top defenseman, the league. So according to L. and the guy who said that Hyman is good because his parents made. Can we have the other four? Can we have the other four that are in there? Quinn used for sure, Kale McCar and Adam Fox.
Starting point is 01:30:46 Because you thumbed your nose at Jamie hard when he talked about Meryl Hayeskin and talking about how good he is. But now you're trotting out. No, Hayes could be in that mix for sure. Yeah. Well, that's, okay, there's four. And Dobson's five. There's five.
Starting point is 01:31:01 You set yourself up. Now we really have to start. putting some money down on no adoption. There's no measurement for this that's going to prove it wrong. Yeah, there's no award given every year to the best defense.
Starting point is 01:31:14 I don't care what the Norris Trophy thing. You were the one that's talking about Norris Trophy winning with Drew Doughty and how harsh shit the voting was for years because he was no good. He had a bad year there that he won, yeah. He's just cherry-pick shit all the time. I'm sorry. Who the fucking bloggers
Starting point is 01:31:32 and media vote for for NHL awards? That's the gospel as it goes in the NHL. Well, you just sort of balked that he might be a top five guy. And if you've finished a top five in that legitimate trophy, I feel like that might give it some credence that it wouldn't be a preposterous thing to say. So NHL awards. Mean nothing. NHL awards and assembled media. It means nothing. How would you go about finding the top five defensemen?
Starting point is 01:32:01 I would know enough not to put Noah Dobson in the top five. And you know what? Here's the thing. So would you. So would you, if you'd have you to just pump the brakes for half a second, well, I mean, not top five. Ten. Let's see what the odds are. Five. Outright. 32 teams.
Starting point is 01:32:18 How many D on each team? Like Ryan. Damn it, there's no odds right now. Okay, we'll move on. You would have really shown me with the odds. Weager's not getting any love in the voting for whatever reason. I don't know why. Long shot last I checked.
Starting point is 01:32:37 It looks like a flawed system. Anyway. They're all flawed. Nothing's perfect. Brett. Let's go to San Francisco where... And you let me hit you with a shovel. He had 60 assists?
Starting point is 01:32:52 That's way better than I was waking up. You let me hit you with a shovel. So he's almost a point per game to that. That's pretty good actually, Dean. We might have to have a major. I should ask Dean how many points he thought he had this year. That would have been the move. I would have said 40.
Starting point is 01:33:07 That's probably because that's what he used to be. This year he's had a monster year. That doesn't mean it will continue. Does it? No, I'm just saying today. Like this year, he's been. Oh, he's not top by this year. You're screwed.
Starting point is 01:33:19 Who's better? Let's go to San Francisco. Where the baseball stadium, Dean, is located next to a body of water. I submitted a video to Jack, and he called this river home run. That river is a salty body of water called McCubby Cove, and that landed right in the kayak. That is not even a splash shot. I don't know. That's ever happened before.
Starting point is 01:33:45 That ball didn't even get wet. that would have hurt if it got in the head yeah it depends on it lands on there there's got that little what do they call it the skirt that keeps yeah no i have said of the head oh yeah you don't want that in the head yeah because that's in real time how would you be able to even if it is right in your lap how do you just have to listen to the cheer and be like oh because again the but the sound by the time it gets to you i feel like you're be it's technology you're watching it on tv you dummy internet, dude. I guess so. Big night for Dean's team. Who! Chicago Bears nearly on the clock. There it is. They will pick first. Dean, you're a big
Starting point is 01:34:29 Bears guy. Yeah. At one, there was a time where this, there was a thought to be a lot of, I guess, curiosity and suspense around who they would take. Some humming and hawing. Yeah. Yeah. The word these days, or at least the odds would, suggest it is absolutely going to be Caleb Williams. He is a prohibitive favorite to go first overall to the Bears. They did move on from Justin Fields. It seems like a slam dunk. How are you gearing up for tonight's massive draft for your team, Dean?
Starting point is 01:35:00 Tattoe. Tattoo? Yeah, definitely a tattoo. Just get right shit-faced. Is that what you're doing? Yeah. What's bear food? Not bear bear's food, but Chicago Bears food.
Starting point is 01:35:14 Chicago hot dogs. deep dish. What's it like out in Calgary? Maybe some pizza on a dog. Nice out here. Look at you. You don't mind the odd foot long, do you? You're talking to her.
Starting point is 01:35:31 Boom, boom. He loves going for the two banger at Costco. Probably add those up. It's about a foot, I guess. Let's go to the order. Now, here's what we expect to happen to. Dean didn't like that. I don't think.
Starting point is 01:35:48 Dean called me a three-time loser. be in jail. I did not say that. You did? No, I didn't. It too. No, he said it was his life story, Dean. You didn't say it was a three-time loser. Can I say life story? That's harsh if I did. Caleb Williams expected to go number one. The Washington, whatever they're called, they're expected to take Jaden
Starting point is 01:36:07 Daniels, another quarterback at two, and the Patriots are dialed in on Drake May. He is also a quarterback. The draft will get interesting at four where Arizona has Kyler Murray under contract and he performed well when he got back from injury. Jesus shits. Do they go wide receiver?
Starting point is 01:36:25 Is it Marvin Harrison Jr.? Is it Malik neighbors? And then my relocated San Diego Chargers select five. And this is where the draft gets interesting. If you want a quarterback, you could trade up into four and five with the Cardinals or the bolts.
Starting point is 01:36:43 Dean, what's the buzz around the draft? What do you want your turn to do, Ryan? I'd like them to trade back and get another first round pick. They need lots. They are not one piece away. Although you would love to see Marvin Harrison, Jr. there because he can do everything.
Starting point is 01:36:57 And they just said goodbye to Mike Williams and to Keenan Allen. Yeah, they did. So they could definitely use one to two more receivers that are good at catching the football, unlike the guy they drafted in the first round last year. Huge! Oh, the first wide receiver off the board goes to the Chargers and Quentin Johnston. can he catch the ball? That's an important job description.
Starting point is 01:37:29 You need to catch to be a wide receiver. We don't have Tim Necky today, boys. So in lieu, we will go to some Aussie rules. Brett loves this sport. Dean hates it. My favorite sport, kind of. This apparently is a big play here. Let's watch this catch, Dean.
Starting point is 01:37:48 Penetrating ball. Over the basketball. That's over with that. Not allowed. You got mullets, no sleeves, and look at this catch. Climbs over the back of the guy. That is pretty. In the scoring area, you're in close, you get the free kick.
Starting point is 01:38:08 You're, and the question is, was that mark of the year? Dean? Definitely mark of the year. I wonder if he grabbed the guy that was, he was on top of, grabbed his legs and kind of smashed him into the ground. Grab that mullet, climb up on top of him? Yeah. That would have dislodged. the ball.
Starting point is 01:38:28 Now we have some exclusive video from one of the malls. I don't know if this is Hamilton area or Buffalo, but the shoveler was out shopping because, you know, summer's coming up. You've got to change the wardrobe. Let's have a look to this designer clothing store, Dean.
Starting point is 01:38:44 Jeez. I see that coming. Is that a sinkhole? Wow. Well, I mean, it's a discount rack now. That's why I do all my shopping online,
Starting point is 01:38:55 you know what I mean? Apparently there's a rank here in Buffalo where the people that work there truly believe that's about to happen in will. A sinkhole. Is that right? It's not so much a sinkhole. It's that the foundation, the second floor is, it's not secure.
Starting point is 01:39:12 Let's, it's issues. Hmm. You should alert the authorities, the health inspectors. Yeah, the ring gets shut down. My kids can't skate. So you'd rather the roof collapse on the. Got it. I mean, what's the odds?
Starting point is 01:39:27 The Jumbotron fell in Buffalo. No one has even stated. in there. For like 20 hours a day and there's not even anyone under there. Insurance. You like jet skiing, Rhett? I know you love to know it on the water. He loves jet ski.
Starting point is 01:39:42 There seems to be a rivalry between jet skiers and boaters. I wonder why. So jump the wake, loose control, bang. Oh, dear. That's a nice boat that loser ran into. It was, yeah. It was a nice boat that didn't need repairs before that. what about motorbiking though let's let's go to that motorboating motorbiking
Starting point is 01:40:08 there's a dog you gotta stop uh sir oh is that AI dean is that uh looks pretty real to me I don't know that you want an actor doing that it would be a place you'd put a camera yeah I think that's real dude disheveled Son of. He falls into the windshield. Like, oh, who put that car there? You know, you can't park.
Starting point is 01:40:44 You can't park there. So a semi-rolled over on the highway, and remember those guys that are like, the wind was so high? The wind was so high. Yes. Safety. Our guys are our helpers from the tow trucks,
Starting point is 01:41:03 they're trying to tow this guy out of there. They throw out some cones to make sure everyone's good, but some guy zipping around his Jeep. It's like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Cones for the normal people, not for me. Look out. That's not good, Dean. Not good at all.
Starting point is 01:41:25 Of course, he's got the cables and then, oh, no, Dean. Some light front end damage. I think you're going to need a new bumper. One insurance claim, slight front end damage. Not ideal. Safety first, folks. Now this guy was out buying some lumber. He looks like a cowboy.
Starting point is 01:41:48 I think he's got to figure it out. And when you're carrying, you know, a lot of wood in the back of your truck, you're going to want to secure that. Like we have tie downs. Yeah, the tie downs. Now, I don't know that he's using the properly. Let's have a look here, Jack, before we start it.
Starting point is 01:42:03 I've seen, you know what? I've seen this. I don't understand what this is. So he's got the tie down, but I think he doesn't know what he's, and look at the cab of the truck now. He has the tie down hooked to the, to the inside of the box.
Starting point is 01:42:18 And the other one hooked to his rim. What are you doing? Oh, the workers are laughing on him now. Oh, buddy. It can't be real either, can it? Because. I mean, look at the damage. That looks pretty real.
Starting point is 01:42:33 Yeah. Oh, buddy. Video. That's the thing. Why are you allowing it? That's a nice truck. It's not a AI. It's a setup for a clip, but it's a nice truck.
Starting point is 01:42:47 Why are you going to go to a truck? Yeah, get some other shitbox and do that too. It's a nice truck. Is this staged or is this just life? Someone's ripping some tunes on Instagram, I'm trying to get viral. Let's see how the singing sounds. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:08 I think the foot hits the guitar and he's like, oh, no. And then forgets that he's, what's the neck of the guitar here. Oh, there is, in terms of comedy, it's pretty good. One of the best things is the sound of a guitar doing the sprung when it's dropped or whatever. If somebody takes the guitar out of their head and then throws it down, it's pure comedy. The other thing is waiting to hear him land is a nice add to this clip as well.
Starting point is 01:43:39 Let's watch it again sound up, Jack. This is good. Let's just finish his song. He's very proud. He's going to be famous on the end. It's good. We love ladders. So if you have any ladder videos, do send him to us.
Starting point is 01:44:03 Even if you're in another country, we'll accept your ladder videos. This looks like an air conditioning unit. Oh, I don't know if he's all right. Ouch. Zero days since our last workplace accident. No, I think he, where his foot touches the back. Yeah, right back. Yeah, as soon as he touches the release.
Starting point is 01:44:34 The extension part there. now again why is there a camera just right what is the point of this camera oh i mean for his workers comp claim that's right yeah so are you sure you got injured on the job sue the pants off bills air conditioner removal that's so listen you pricks if i got to go up there on this ladder i'm going to video it because i know damn well it's not going to go well this guy's smart geez that would hurt the shoulder everything would hurt after that yeah yeah uh crocodile we got a couple clips. Where do we start, Jack? This is a crocodile
Starting point is 01:45:12 at a pond and a turtle, isn't that cute? I wonder if they're friends. Good night, sweet prince. And you what? And like just moments ago. Because what did we just show there? A guy with a guitar and a ladder fail and all that. This just came in. Oh, you know what? I can't. I forgot. Jack took me. He's got me on there.
Starting point is 01:45:38 Thanks for the Pinder format, Finder report format change. So much more fun and less yuck. And actually, no, it's just we're now just turning the corner and getting into the crocodiles. There's two left. We'll save the best for last. What was that song in the 90s? Yeah. You got to save.
Starting point is 01:45:56 Who is that? Whitney Houston, Tony Braxton? The best. I don't know what song you're talking about. You got to sing more of it. Crocodile 2 then, Dean. That's what you get. Oh, look at this.
Starting point is 01:46:06 There's a crocky back ride again. Upper. Yeah. You think crocodiles. skin boots are cool, man. Come on. That is unbelievable. Like, who?
Starting point is 01:46:24 That guy's a kick. Yeah, that's right. Look at me. You got a bloody dinosaur you're riding home. How good is that? Could you get away with that here? Or there? Some sort of permitting and licensing.
Starting point is 01:46:37 Florida, probably for sure. No helmets in Florida needed on the motorcycle. That's fine. And they're probably happy you just took down a gator. So Florida, you're good. I'm not sure about the shoeless. motorbiking. Shoeless, helmetless.
Starting point is 01:46:49 Helmeless is normal in Florida. It's a snap your neck if you've never been down there. You're like, crock transport motorbiking. Finally, Dean was so excited about that snake removal clip we had the other day that, well, somehow the algorithm fed us this. This is a cobra, I think. I've told Dean. The question is, how big is it?
Starting point is 01:47:13 Because you just keep. Okay. So I think these are pest control. These are experts in the removal of snakes. They've got the same colored t-shirt on. They've got something on the back of their shirt that probably says snakes are us or something like that in another language.
Starting point is 01:47:32 Don't worry about them, Dean. They are experts in the field of snake removal. Extraction. Is he even watching? So you've got the one guy working the tail. This guy's job is to go at the neck a bit here. You're too close to the... He looks too close, but again, experts, right?
Starting point is 01:47:50 and you'll see he's going to attach something here that's going to help his job. Village Honda. A huge selection of used, pre-owned vehicles. Hang on, Dean, the clips, not done. No. There's a weighted necklace. Oh, like, there's a head. There is.
Starting point is 01:48:04 Hey. So that's like a heavy weight, right? So that this guy can't go flying around on him too quick. That's genius. It's not genius. They're gross. And look, now he's got to distract him so it doesn't go out the tail guy. Yeah, nothing about this feels genius.
Starting point is 01:48:22 This is from, look at him. He's got all the moves. He's keeping a distance. Got the weighted necklace on. Cobra's a screw. Creepy looking. Watch the hands. Watch the quick hand.
Starting point is 01:48:35 Why doesn't the guy in the tail, and now the necklace is off? Pull him out to an area where you have more space. I don't know the area. Oh, look at that. The fellas love it. No messing around. So what are they going to do with this thing? Soup, which is probably the next clip.
Starting point is 01:48:56 That's actually all clips. today, Dean. Put him, uh, Hey, Rep. The Everglades. Going to need you to go to wherever that was. And, uh, you're going to be a snake wrangler. What, uh, what annual salary are we going to need to pay you?
Starting point is 01:49:19 Tax free state if we're talking Florida. Now, there might be some gators, but gators and snakes. Okay. Do I, are we talking about the, what's the word I'm looking for? Benefit package? Yeah. We have a little dental. Slay them?
Starting point is 01:49:35 Yes. Or do I have to catch and release? You're going to, you know what it is? You put them into those five gallon pails. Sure. Put them right into there. Close the lid. And then someone else does that.
Starting point is 01:49:47 You're just the extractor. Now the shoveler, we're going to Florida and I got to do that. The shoveler can go do her thing. No. Well, if you go to Southeast Asia, you'll find average salaries around, you know, $9 to $10,000 American a year. Oh, wow. It's a little extra.
Starting point is 01:50:02 risk pay. So maybe we'll get you bump you up to 12, 15 grand a year. Nope. Tax, I mean, tax implicate. I hate snakes. I don't like them. No. If I was dealing with that thing, first of all, I wouldn't. But if I had to, I wouldn't be putting a weight on it. You don't like that way of the neck.
Starting point is 01:50:22 So I can grab it by the back of the neck or whatever the hell it's called below the head. See, someone in the chat saying flush it. No, that's how you get Dean's fears. That's how you get there. That's how toilet snakes starts. That's how you get fangs in your heiney. That's how it happens when you think you're just going to flush it and you're done. If you're looking for taint venom, that's a move.
Starting point is 01:50:45 Otherwise, no. Yeah, it's not work, man. Pre-owned vehicles all makes all models, all budgets, 90 units on site, 500 more in the dealership group. Makes Village Honda, your one-stop automotive destination in Calgary. They're worth the trip. Village Honda, located in the Northwest Autom. I have a little something in my drive, Jack, that I threw in there. I don't like being, I feel like I'm just a guest on the show when I'm not.
Starting point is 01:51:11 Jack made me join the show here, not to get, but the program that we use. I have to come in. So here you go, Rhett. So the place is called the Takiera Talakapaki. Ah. Talakaria. That's how you say that, right? To your point.
Starting point is 01:51:30 Eat tacos. Yeah, takaria. And the chavella. is the drink. Wow. I would always trust Reggie over. But it just proves we're both not idiots. No,
Starting point is 01:51:45 it definitely proved someone with me. And this is the second location from the looks of it and the sign Masters of the Mexican Munchies. Oh, yeah. Wonder what time those hit. The like a pecki. They never go away. Never go away.
Starting point is 01:52:01 Delicious. There you go. Takaria. That would be like a taco. restaurant like a yeah it's a Mexican spot for sure so why what's up with you in reggear how come you guys aren't in regular communication oh we're fine it's just a joke I'm gonna sneeze now do it hey Ryan what was that song you were singing I'm trying to remember what it was but you need to sing more of it for me to that I don't think it was Whitney
Starting point is 01:52:25 Houston and I don't think it was Tony Braxton said you gotta save the best or last yeah that's right yeah it's like a little piano play the breast sometimes this comes down in June. Have you got a boog hanging, by the way? I know. Oh, that's nice. Let's, can we just be done now? It's for the day.
Starting point is 01:52:46 We're done. Get the pet. He has a frigging. We've got to do that way yet. Like what? Jack, tighten the ship there, man. Salty over there. Stiff it up.
Starting point is 01:53:00 Stiff it up. If you're not going to stiff it up, stiff it up. Stiff it up. You just stiff it up. sorry Dan no it's Jack's fault two days in a row
Starting point is 01:53:12 Jack's gonna let the inmates run the asylum this is gonna happen I'm just gonna sit here and eat then why did I have to come in this this way Jack what was the I don't know we're we didn't get the frozen picture today so it worked
Starting point is 01:53:29 the pixels yeah I see that's what so you thought my being in because I'm still here, right? Like I'm still in. Yeah, you're still here. So you just thought the way that I joined the show and run the show. When you're in admin, you would probably have higher requirements of. They're not going to sit well with the guy in the middle. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 01:53:53 I'm here to tell you, I've been in both places. The gear I have at home is way better than the shit you guys are rolling out there. So I don't think it's on my end. Dean, would you stop bragging about your gear? I'm just saying. I think that you two fellows are for. forgotten how things work in this operation. There's a boomocracy who needs to be followed
Starting point is 01:54:17 very closely. USA the Beth the land. It's Vanessa Williams. Oh, yes, Vanessa Williams. Yeah. Songbird.
Starting point is 01:54:29 I was a great age dance. Was it ever? She was spicy. Probably still is. Yeah. She had very strong. striking eyes. Oh.
Starting point is 01:54:43 If I remember, kind of like, her eyes, like a light blue contact. Betway. With Betway. Oh, she does too. Good.
Starting point is 01:54:54 Right. Oh, well, you know. 61 now. Over a year. That seems exaggerated. It's not true.
Starting point is 01:55:11 Year. If someone was to exaggerate ever so slightly, like, can you please let this person know it's probably like eight or nine months? Like, destroy this. It's not been a year for sure, Red.
Starting point is 01:55:27 No. I know I started the season with it. I know where my stand was. Was. I know where it is. Hang on. His dedication is really not to be questioned. As soon as that issue cropped out,
Starting point is 01:55:42 he went right out and fixed it. So there's the base. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. All right. Got it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:50 Thank you. So where's the, how did we, where's the malfunction at the junction? Why is it no longer working? Oh, boy. I think the broken piece, I got this piece. That's the table mount, yeah.
Starting point is 01:56:04 A lot of rummaging. It's good rummaging, though, I like, I can't find it. It's broken. Betway. Was there ever a thought to replace the... Oh, no, it's right here. Hang out a second.
Starting point is 01:56:36 I got kids. You never know where things go on. God damn, kids. Damn it. Betway. Bitway. was there ever thought to replace it or no there was but then I was coming home and then I'm coming back
Starting point is 01:56:51 and then I'm coming home and what is the update there friend this one and it feels awkward what am I going to sit like this don't sit on it no let's potsy then I had that guy that works for the company he was going to come over and fix a bunch of shit up but I'm like no way that creeps coming in my house okay he went to rosy
Starting point is 01:57:15 place in olds I think. Yeah. How'd that turn out. Well, I think, okay, he's got some lights. It's set. Set up there. Probably not as good as the Buffalo Bill's flag and a shelf.
Starting point is 01:57:26 So now Rosie's a lazy ass too and just sits at home? No, I think he allowed the guy to come in in Toronto for the Leaf Show. He lives and worked. Yeah. Got some stuff done in his in his house. A good looking studio, Jack? Yeah, that's really good. Almost as good as rats.
Starting point is 01:57:44 I mean, what Red has beats our gray wall. Is it gray? I was in studio just recently. It's high end. Thanks for the table, though, Jeff. I appreciate that. New chair. Still there?
Starting point is 01:58:06 What are you talking about Hulk Hogan with your wrestling thing? Like that makes it great. Woo! Well, here's the thing. You know what? it's, uh, I'm in a spot where I,
Starting point is 01:58:21 I'm going to do, I was going to do some stuff to the, to the, to my little studio thing here. Right. But we're not doing the show in, in like a couple months. So why would I,
Starting point is 01:58:32 is that right? We're not doing the show. Well, no, this is over. So why would I, all that high end gear that. Why would I buy more stuff and spend money on lighting and stuff when we're just gone?
Starting point is 01:58:43 And you didn't go buy that lamp. That, that shitty. lamp was free and it's been in your house for decades. It needs a light for the, uh, for the, that one there. Fake wrestling belt. That's, it needs light to shine. Yeah, it's not ideal.
Starting point is 01:58:58 So the show's done because you've tried to quit many times, but we're still doing it today. Like, are you done, done? He's addicted to it. Yeah, I don't know what I do. Got to have purpose in life, Dean. It's a happy man that knows this place in the world. Side of life. Save the best for last that way.
Starting point is 01:59:21 I'm going to pick two games today, so I should be fine. You know what I want to do first, though? I want to tell you about our buddy, uh, Dr. J. Did you go see Dr. J? No, I didn't. I was going to, but I didn't. What's? Too many issues with this thing.
Starting point is 01:59:38 Oh, send me Dr. J's number. What's Roadsie's number? What's this? How do you spell his lot? What's his address? What's his name? What's his mother's maiden name?
Starting point is 01:59:50 Do you know what they? him his first pet. Like, Jesus, right, what are he doing here? You steal this man's identity? Red's not on me. Outdoor dental. That way. Outdoor. Dot dental is the website, Dr. Jay Patel. Rett's got his info if you need it. Dental, just the dentist can be not fun. It can be a not fun situation. Very. Well, how about the Soleil laser? Less. Intrusive. Pain free. Relaxed, comfortable. And in addition to the dental work that you need to get done, maybe you want to take care of that snoring problem you got. The Soleil Laser hits the soft palate,
Starting point is 02:00:40 tightens things up, two 15-minute treatments, and you're snoring, again, non-surgical, it's pain-free, but your snoring could be a thing of the past. You sleep better, you feel better, you get more sleep, the sleep you're getting is better quality sleep. Those are, you're better for the people around you. Can you take two 15 minute chunks out of your life? A lot. Turn your life around. You can and you should.
Starting point is 02:01:10 Outdoor.dental is the website. At the very least, go and find a more info, get, have a consultation, talk to Dr. Jay, talk to the people there. Staff are unbelievably great. And we're here to tell you that it is, going to be worth your while. This laser, the Salea laser, I remember when we were talking to, Jay, there's two of them. Really? In the city or in the, like it's, yeah, this is, this is pretty rare, pretty rare opportunity to go and have this done. So go and see Dr. Jay, go online, outdoor.com,
Starting point is 02:01:41 and learn more and have, have an assessment done today. Thank you much. Yeah. Now, you did it. I did it. I do not snore nearly as much. No, if I try to, funnel, I don't know, a few hectare leaders of beer, maybe a little bit, but generally speaking, beautiful sleep, less interrupted. And it's like, I feel a little better. I think it's better. And then I'm like, I asked when I actually say, oh, yeah, night and day. So that's really where the massive wins. Yeah. It's happening there, right. Sell the stock, Red. You said laser. So I'm actually trying to see if I can buy a laser. Yeah, you want to buy some lasers. for what purpose?
Starting point is 02:02:23 I don't know. Laser tag? I saw a robot the other day, a dog robot that shoots fire that you could buy. Is that AI or is that? No. Is it that Boston something rather?
Starting point is 02:02:36 I'm telling you, that Boston, whatever it is that is killed for them. If my name was Putin, that would be number one on my fucking takeover list is that who's got the fucking army dogs that have lasers and flames coming out of their mouth?
Starting point is 02:02:49 That's what I'm going. after. I'm putting all my intelligence into cracking that joint. What is that? Horrifying. Boston, I'm just going to. Freaking army guys that can do backflips and walk on planks. Did you see the ones where they can fly? Oh, no, they're flying now?
Starting point is 02:03:07 With the hand, they got head jets. I know that we're the humans of the things, but the dynamics. If the robots can do that, we're cooked. Yeah, Boston didn't know. Our agile mobile robot will redefine your day to day. Yeah, you're ready to find the world with freaking Terminator 1000. Get out of here.
Starting point is 02:03:24 Get a robot. You don't need a robot, Dean. We can't have people as grumpy as you with robot. This world will end. Imagine you think the dog is good. You get a robot? Robots are worse. They don't snuggle.
Starting point is 02:03:37 They have no feelings. Oh, you're going to love that robot. Robots, no. Dogs, yes. You know what a robot doesn't do? Shit. No. They probably need a robot.
Starting point is 02:03:51 all changes some dumb shit though. Boston Dynamics unveils its new humanoid robot. Don't like this. Jesus. You don't need one of those dolls, too. I was going to say, you know, it's like how many minutes is that thing in your house
Starting point is 02:04:05 before you're doing? How are you doing? It's $2,400. That's not bad, actually, for a robot dog. I watched the curb the other day with the, with the blow-up doll from Funkhouser. Boy.
Starting point is 02:04:23 Fuck. Oh, shoot. Did we get sidetracked? Nope. Betway. Betway. With Betway, you can get a free bet. Up to $200 if your first bet loses.
Starting point is 02:04:41 Create a new account. Scan the QR code on the screen. Redeem that bonus. Place your bet. No minimum amount required. And if the bet loses, you'll get a refund of up to $200. Then you take that and you use it again to bet on your favorite sports. This offer only available outside.
Starting point is 02:04:57 of Ontario. So we've been talking hockey. We're doing the playoffs, obviously. There it is. Oh, is this, uh, case is creepy. It just ended the video. Let's go back.
Starting point is 02:05:08 Yeah, the robot says, don't, you don't need to know more about me. This doesn't say scream T-1,000. So this is. And wait till it turns around and looks at you and decides to kill you. Look at this thing.
Starting point is 02:05:21 Double jointed. It's amazing. Yes. So this is the new, this is the humanoid robot. I don't like it. Oh, he'll, you know what? New drinking buddy.
Starting point is 02:05:33 And he'll lull you into trust in them. Yep. How would you like to watch the hockey game? Would you like two ice cubes or three? Mr. Warner, Hall of Fame career over there. Some hot wings. We should get some. This guy's great.
Starting point is 02:05:48 I friggin love this guy. Soon as you pass, they're not off on the couch. And the shoveler is his. I don't want the robot. I want the Therminator. A robotic dog that can remotely deliver Streams of fire. Fire dog.
Starting point is 02:06:07 That's what they should call the team in Utah, the fire dogs. Got to get one for the saddle, though. Serberus, isn't that the dog that's here? I like cold bear. How about you? Yes, I do. This is great. This hockey game is terrific.
Starting point is 02:06:25 I wonder who the bears will take at first overall. I love the draft. Go local sports team. This is great. We should order in some more food. That sounds great. I think you've earned it. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 02:06:40 Have you ever copped a man's balls? What? Look at this. No. It's got a bloody laser. Stop it. You got a freaking laser. Why are we making these things?
Starting point is 02:06:51 We've all seen how this movie ends. Search and destroy. Stop making robots that kill. Damn it. This is a friendly robot dog. Right. Until A. gets it. Oh, no.
Starting point is 02:07:04 You just have no faith in humanity. Because you're the pioneer on that friend. You would be totally trusting of this type of stuff. You'd have no concerns of things going to. You would trust, they say, the government to regulate these types of things, right, right? Of all people. What you got to be. This is where you guys are backwards.
Starting point is 02:07:24 You got to be ahead of the game instead of behind the eight. You need your dog army. Oh, look at. We should. We should have a fire in the backyard. Let's roast some marshmallows. Did you imagine new friends that come over? That feels like a lot of gas, their robodog.
Starting point is 02:07:42 No, it's fine. Just sit down and relax. Yeah, the comments nailed it. Sharks with freaking laser beams. That's what we're basically breeding right now. They already have those. But it's not a shark. It's a dolphin.
Starting point is 02:07:59 Underwater laser beams. So, uh, Betwe? Betway. Betway. You could just get a flamethrower, too. Two games, I'm going Carolina. Oh, yeah. Plus money on the Islanders.
Starting point is 02:08:18 Now you've had the extra day off. They're going to Soroken and Nets. I don't. I don't love it. No. But is it crazy to think that the Islanders could win a game? It feels like if they're going to win a game, then maybe they're poised to win this one because they should.
Starting point is 02:08:33 They're going to win a game. Why not tonight? First at home, excited, new barn. Probably should have won the last game. Arguably, game one, don't completely collapse in game two. A, we'll go for it. We'll take, I like the number. If you don't love the bet, maybe you like the number.
Starting point is 02:08:49 It's worth a shot. Plus 130 on a money line win for the Islanders. And a Svechnikov assist plus 140. Just feels like anytime I watch, Svechnikov is around it all the time. Are you good? It's a point. It's an assist, but we'll take it.
Starting point is 02:09:06 You just want somebody to say, Mr. Svichickle. Mr. Svichnich. Burnt in the comments has nailed it. I've been searching on Betway as well. Can't find the odds for the robot apocalypse, but I'd definitely be sprinkling on that. I can find that bet. Here are my bets of the day.
Starting point is 02:09:24 We're going to go to the NFL draft pick five, Marvin Harrison Jr. I want to believe the charges can have nice things after getting rid of Mike Williams and Kenan Allen. He's the son of a very good football player you may have heard of. He shares his name. He's good at everything.
Starting point is 02:09:38 Take him. Big number two. Look at that. Plus 400. And then Jose Brrios toes the rubber. It's not Baltimore. It's Kansas City. That's probably my mistake.
Starting point is 02:09:50 Over four and a half strikeouts plus one, 10. He has gone six or more in all but one of his starts. So I like the over four and a half number against the Royals with cheese. That starts in 10 minutes ago, by the way. Oh, we'll hurry. It starts in 10 minutes ago. Yeah. That's right.
Starting point is 02:10:08 It's the damned thing about Betway. They're going to want you to make those bets before the game starts. Might be able to live bet something there. Maybe. Yeah, get in the game.
Starting point is 02:10:16 In game there. Robots. Up in your time machine with your robot and your flamethrower and find that four and a half bet over on the strikeouts. New account's going to get
Starting point is 02:10:26 that QR code. Even if you missed it. All right, well, we're just going to save it. There it is. It's a bonus. Free bet up to 200 if that first bet loses.
Starting point is 02:10:35 You get the refund up $200. You then take those credits essentially and put it towards your next bet on your favorite sports. This offer only available outside of Ontario. Betway. So what are the two,
Starting point is 02:10:48 we got two games tonight, only two. Battle Florida. And then can the Islanders win a game bowl? Five and five 30. Yeah, Florida, Tampa, first of the two games. I like the stagger. It's good. You don't have to do any intermission nonsense.
Starting point is 02:11:04 So it's going to be an early finish tonight. Beautiful. Yeah. And the NFL draft is always good TV as well. That's going to be going on. And we got matinee baseball right now. So basically don't leave your house, Dean. How about it?
Starting point is 02:11:14 Greek ribs and chicken Kiev. Oh, what is chicken Kiev? It's like a butter. Creamy, right? Yeah, herb butter inside the chicken. Is it like a cordon bleu, but with like different flavor than cordon bleu? It's not the cheese. Yeah, it's no cheese or ham, but it's a stuffed chicken breast with a,
Starting point is 02:11:34 quarter blue is breaded, right? That is true. Yes, normally Kiev and chicken cordon blue or breaded, but it's a half of the B.A. guys. Delicious. Knock yourself up. Yeah, yeah. So you're having both. You're doing the ribs and the, the.
Starting point is 02:11:53 Yeah, I'm a variety guy. Food. Did we figure out what the hell happened with that shredded chicken? The shredded chicken was taken off my hands and made. made into a beautiful buffalo chip chicken dip. I knew it. Wow.
Starting point is 02:12:15 The shoveler. She knows me. Shovelry, no. She knows me. Walked in the house. There you go. No kidding. The main difference between
Starting point is 02:12:28 chicken Kiev and chicken cordonbleau is Kiev is stuffed with butter and herbs while cordon bleu is stuffed with ham and cheese. Ham and cheese. did you not butter and herbs you're what I said well I'm just absolutely verifying exactly what you said
Starting point is 02:12:44 I was right all the time like what do you not all the time so walk me through the prep of the dip like you you would know how she's there but you know no chicken cream cheese and we're I believe there was I didn't ask I consumed
Starting point is 02:13:01 there was a cheddar on top but I know there had to have been a a cream cheese, blue cheese, sour cream, some type of cheesy mixture with some hot sauce. Start on. Do it. Treat yourself. Treat yourself.
Starting point is 02:13:29 Oh, look at that time. You treat you right. Look at the time. He's definitely a hockey player. Like when the buzzer goes, he's done. Imagine you had a job where you actually had to punch a clock like eight hours. You would go insane. What happened during the?
Starting point is 02:13:50 What happened during the Noodles interview? You left for about eight minutes. Do you something? Oh, Jesus. So are you on the show or? Sometimes. Or are you a guest on the show? How does that work?
Starting point is 02:14:07 It's just, he's on the show and then just boop, gone. Well, I'm going to look at my face while Noodles is talking. You look the person in the eye that's talking to you. Not some dumbass on the side. He actually was trying to look you in the eye. He was seven of a tough time. the guest feels when one of the hosts just fucking bolts to go eat
Starting point is 02:14:26 sausage. I've heard this guy speak for hours. He doesn't give a rats. As long as somebody's listening, he'll keep babbling. You know, that chemistry that you have, tough to recreate that chemistry when... I don't want to get nauseous. I take bills.
Starting point is 02:14:42 And then they upset my belly. I got to have some food. Shumler dropped off some snossages. And they're delicious state fair sausage. There's a whole bunch of like peppers and onions. onions and cheese in them. Real good stuff, Dean.
Starting point is 02:14:54 Nice. Nice. Should I call noodles? See if he's okay with... No, I don't think, because he'll say yes, and then you'll do this every week. I'd rather guilt you
Starting point is 02:15:07 and make you hang around next week. I don't. Guilt doesn't know. There's no guilt. No. No shame. No. Not at the time,
Starting point is 02:15:15 maybe months later. Hey, uh, do, sometimes the sun, um, and that's the sun. Unless a man.
Starting point is 02:15:26 How come we don't... I don't want to poke fun at the boss. Boss. Hey boss. Hello. Yeah. Turn your earmuffs off. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:15:37 Cans off, Jack. So if one of the greatest goal callers are sportscasters of all time, kind of this breaking news. Mm-hmm. Yeah. I feel like maybe we should have... Go out on the producer would have found. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:15:52 Kind of like in the noodles interview when he brought up the torturella the thing. I scrambled to YouTube and downloaded it and then processed it across and put it in my folder so that we had it within minutes. Is he too young? Does he know Bob Cole? I don't know. I'd be honest. If I didn't, I'm saying I'm stunned
Starting point is 02:16:10 the fact that we've, we're not going to. Now, Rhett, in fairness, it just happened. When did, when did the news come out? About an hour ago, yeah. Ooh. Written we were. I'm sure we'll come in with it tomorrow. It'll be fine. hour and a half boy it's well no did he play for the avalanche no jack that's ian cole
Starting point is 02:16:37 you idiot pet spurt oh carlara eric cole god damn it jack that's eric cole jack jack that's any sing all those christmas no it's not king call jack no it's see you buddies
