Here's the fly in the ointment. The Islanders, they got the new coach bump coming because they handed walking papers to old Patty Roy. Oh, did you record the phone call? I know last time. Zutalor. It's sound different these days. He was not hired by Matthew Darsh. Matthew Darsh is the GM. And with not many games left. Four. It's going to be great. There was going to be a huge. huge cue for Peter DeBoer this summer.

Yeah, I mean, we could talk. That's what it, what it is as much as anything, I guess, right? Yep, get ahead of it. Do you want a bidding war? Do you want to get this done now? Matthew Darsh clearly was of the thinking that Patrick was not the long- guy. So I can wait and then maybe not get a great, good, great coach in the off-season

He's a very good coach. Has he gotten over the biggest hump? No. Would your franchise be happy in the third round? Most say yes. Colorado, no. This is a bell shut. Yeah, don't go running your number one goalie,

franchise goalie. You wonder, though, with what we've seen in Dallas this year, where DeSmith has been good and Ottinger's been a little unsteady. Probably not wrong. There again, guys close to it, no more than.

Oh, yeah. I don't think he was wrong. Which is why would you say that to the meeting? The way that was handled. He wouldn't have been fired. He'd still be there. He was going to shut up. Yeah, I agree.

Now, Gully's done a good job there. It's always a little good coach. But Pete DeBore Islands and Patty Roy, that's two where he's come in and you're like, some more friction than you want from a head coach. He really wanted that player personnel. I want to be a co-GM in Colorado. That ended horribly. They had to bring in Bednar like last minute.

He ditched them in like September. I felt like he was ready to leave Colorado. That was, you know, he dipped the toe and he ran hot, and they were done with him and he was kind of doing that whole thing. I don't, who knows? This is probably a different story. You'd see Schaefer come in. I got the next young stud.

shelf lives are. Because the Cooper's been, I think, 13 seasons. We'll show the graphic. Bednar's been there since Waugh. Rod the Baud forever. Andre Torneying, who was brought in after the World Junior's Day of Resolution. Who the hell's that? That's the Utah head coach, the big bear. Really?

Yeah, he was with hockey Canada. And so that is your fourth most tenured coach in the NHL. Marty St. Louis went from coaching bantams to the habs. He's your fifth. Paul Maurice. Yeah, he's had some success there, so it feels longer than it's been. He's not into his fourth season yet there. He had to quit.

He finished it in Winnipeg to get that job. Spencer Carberry, new guy, Burnett new guy, Huska Knoblock, newer guys. You're in the top 10 for tenure. Look at how many guys are less than a season. It's a third of the league. Whatever. not fair not fun you get paid if you do get fired and how many more are coming
