Here's the fly in the ointment.
The Islanders, they got the new coach bump coming because they handed walking papers to old Patty Roy.
Oh, did you record the phone call?
I know last time.
Zutalor.
Last time he got called, be at the phone call somehow.
Kess Kisipas, he, see.
Slamming the cell phone.
It's sound different these days.
He was not hired by Matthew Darsh.
Matthew Darsh is the GM.
And with not many games left.
Four.
It's going to be great.
There was going to be a huge.
huge cue for Peter DeBoer this summer.
Yeah, I mean, we could talk.
That's what it, what it is as much as anything, I guess, right?
Yep, get ahead of it.
Do you want a bidding war?
Do you want to get this done now?
Matthew Darsh clearly was of the thinking that Patrick was not the long-
guy.
So I can wait and then maybe not get a great, good, great coach in the off-season
or just do it now.
Yeah.
And it's like, well, shit, maybe you can.
We need up the D zone a little bit.
We get the new coach bump and maybe we sneak in.
Hey, what does Peter DeBoard do?
Guess the round three.
Which is he ever.
You all don't talk about that.
The rest of it after,
but if you get us to round three.
I think a lot of franchises would take round three.
I'm ready now because we saw torts with eight games left.
Yeah, yeah.
And now this one.
Let's get to the playoffs.
We're down 02 in a series.
Oh my God.
When is the last time that happened?
There has to be one instance.
Wasn't it at the Olympics where the?
Yeah, the Swedes.
Like, could we get Paul Maurice in here and just gathers?
our coach.
Mid tournament.
Get to the playoffs.
You know what?
We had a whole ice and we're down 02.
We're going to have to make a change.
So let's get to the coach E7,
then we'll jump to Brent Burns.
Pete the bore always has a job.
Whether he's still getting paid
or he's brought back mid-season,
the numbers are ridiculous.
It's 19 consecutive seasons.
He's been fired five times in there
and has been in the final four,
six of the last eight years.
I understand why the aisles think this could be good.
He's a very good coach.
Has he gotten over the biggest hump?
No.
Would your franchise be happy in the third round?
Most say yes.
Colorado, no.
This is a bell shut.
Yeah, don't go running your number one goalie,
franchise goalie.
You wonder, though,
with what we've seen in Dallas this year,
where DeSmith has been good
and Ottinger's been a little unsteady.
Probably not wrong.
There again, guys close to it,
no more than.
Oh, yeah.
I don't think he was wrong.
Which is why would you say that to the meeting?
The way that was handled.
He wouldn't have been fired.
He'd still be there.
He was going to shut up.
Yeah, I agree.
Now, Gully's done a good job there.
It's always a little good coach.
But Pete DeBore Islands and Patty Roy, that's two where he's come in and you're like,
some more friction than you want from a head coach.
He really wanted that player personnel.
I want to be a co-GM in Colorado.
That ended horribly.
They had to bring in Bednar like last minute.
He ditched them in like September.
I felt like he was ready to leave Colorado.
That was, you know, he dipped the toe and he ran hot,
and they were done with him and he was kind of doing that whole thing.
I don't, who knows?
This is probably a different story.
You'd see Schaefer come in.
I got the next young stud.
We've got a brand new building.
The playoffs spot last week.
We're in a playoff spot.
Look what we're doing here.
And now I'm out.
Yeah.
And they would have had.
That would be an interesting conversation.
Big time.
That's red ass.
Francae. I was going to say it'd be on
Francais. Bonjour.
Say domage.
Foutre. I'd do it over
the phone. Yeah.
Safer. Yeah.
So one of those dog
those RCMP dog suits.
Patrick, listen.
I know you're not. If we don't get to
bore now, we may not get. I'm sorry,
Pat. We're still going to pay you. Get him off
my arm, please.
I believe a couple of years left on
this deal. Yeah, good for Pat.
I mean, what it really speaks to is that Al's ownership ain't leaping around.
Connie, give me a job, a five-year deal.
I'll just work one and I'll stay home.
Yeah.
Give me a job.
I'll just stay home all the time.
You'll never see me.
Hey, leave, let's go.
I'll walk around, brag about how good you are.
They're already doing it for free, though.
I'm always going to pay for that.
I'm going to stop.
Oh, shoot.
Okay.
Here's a threat.
Okay, so let's guess.
Not the Pat Roy was up there, but we also saw Bruce Cassidy,
go, where does Ryan Husker rank
and coach tenure in the NHL?
I like Butch Cassidy better, by the
I don't, I mean, he was 8th as of the
torts. And I don't know that Cassidy
firing. Well, it's just a reminder how short the
shelf lives are. Because the Cooper's been, I think,
13 seasons. We'll show the graphic. Bednar's
been there since Waugh. Rod the
Baud forever. Andre
Torneying, who was brought in
after the World Junior's Day of Resolution. Who the
hell's that? That's the Utah head coach,
the big bear. Really?
Yeah, he was with hockey Canada. And so that is your
fourth most tenured coach in the NHL.
Marty St. Louis went from
coaching bantams to the habs. He's your fifth.
Paul Maurice.
Yeah, he's had some success there, so it feels longer than it's been.
He's not into his fourth season yet there.
He had to quit.
He finished it in Winnipeg to get that job.
Spencer Carberry, new guy,
Burnett new guy, Huska Knoblock, newer guys.
You're in the top 10 for tenure.
Look at how many guys are less than a season.
It's a third of the league.
Whatever.
not fair not fun you get paid if you do get fired and how many more are coming
because i think barubi is going to i think booby will be out i don't think that's crazy at all
i agree with you keef keith there's got to be some questions asked there if depending how good
things go up north yes i was going to say depending on what happens there i don't if you're not
through the second round at emminton there's a new coach that's my feel like one one of these guys
either deservingly or not will go just to make room for cassie scott arneal will be interesting because
that was the undershot expectations a ton.
They don't like firing guys. I don't know what he's got for term left.
I wonder about a team. And I'm not saying,
torts coming back? Like San Jose,
Orsowski, they're in a playoff chase.
Does Greer look at it and say, we're ready for a head coach?
I understand what you're asking. I wouldn't be there yet.
I think if he's doing well, you just roll.
Because you're right. There is kind of that, oh, this is the guy to groom the kids.
And like, oh, well, now we're in our wish.
We've got to go give an established winning coach.
I think he'll be back next year.
We'll see if they get in or not too.
