It's that simple.
Download the app.
You must be 19 or older.
Please play responsibly.
You know how that.
Super chat today is we are, you know, YouTube live.
If you're watching live, you put money in live, we'll put your
comment on live. We'll get the money to you send as a Calgary.
That sort of thing is we're here in the McLeod Law, LLP Studios,
MacLeod-Dashlaw.com, Calgary's greatest,
homegrown, the best of what they do. You love having the best in the business on your side.
And, Brett, do you need any legal help?
I don't know if I've crossed the barrier to engaging in legal help, but it's coming.
Yeah. Are you in a litigious mood today?
Do you want to sue some people?
No, I just want to smash the out of some.
I was going to say, I feel if at some point you might need them,
because if you don't get McLeod Law now, it may cause you to react a certain way.
Maybe I should interact with McLeod Law now.
You're right.
That's kind of a, yeah.
You got some on retainer on it.
You can do all this up to.
Yeah.
And then don't.
Just let it, yeah, let it breathe.
At what point do I have to go to the old gray room hotel there for what action?
What can't you get me out of it?
What can a guy get away?
Or maybe you just need to get a will done, Dean, they're really versatile.
Yeah, whatever it is.
It might not be avoiding jail time.
Yeah.
You got a will?
Oh, yeah.
Got to have a will.
Could be dying for years.
I had to have a will.
That's true.
Jack probably doesn't need a will.
Everyone else here should have a will.
Just leave everything to jail.
Friday is Hawaiian shirt day.
So, you know, if you want to, go ahead and wear a Hawaiian shirt and jeans.
You are wearing some branded merch.
A double branded.
Look at that.
Canaanascus golf course.
My kid was hounding the promo team at the Flames game the other day.
He's like, Dad, you like Hawaiian shirts?
All right.
I do.
Now, I don't want to confuse anyone.
Some people might think I work for the Flames or I'm an employee.
That's right, yeah.
Given that it's a logo of a team, even though they sell billions of dollars of merchandise
with sports logos everywhere.
So you don't work for the flames and I'm not an employee.
The Flames doesn't work for the bills.
I do believe he works at the Sastute Raiders.
No?
Yeah.
Like the Raiders.
me go way back. Right. I don't know if there was a working relationship, but God dang it,
it was real good. Also don't work at Canaanascus golf course, but do in being there.
Soon too. I think you should. Good half shack there. Great service. I've been, never played.
Oh, that's how also very good move as well. No. I would, I would kind of besmirch you, but that's a hell
of a move, actually, because you lose the frustrating part of golf, but you still have all the views and the
food and beverage.
A little restaurant on the top of the
I do feel like it's a squatted opportunity though to have one of the finest
golf courses.
Is it keeping you up at night?
I'm restful.
You're sleeping well.
Yeah.
Twisting and turning.
It's the first time I've heard Dean say he's restful.
I slept really well last night.
Really?
Being the guy that has Montreal in seven.
And the guy that said Freddie Anderson, the horseshoe was going to drop.
Well, time.
Do you know what a match?
What do you sleep?
Sitting there watching,
33 seconds in,
Seth Jarvis scars.
Like, well,
there goes the rust argument.
They're not rusty.
They're ready to go.
A minute and goal.
Oh, well,
I know.
This is two,
what, three,
okay, wow.
And then you're looking at it,
you're like,
so Ottawa got how many goals
in the entire series?
Yeah.
And we're in what period of game?
This might be different.
Yeah.
They got five in the round.
Montreal got four in the first.
There you go.
Yeah.
I don't know.
how much you hang on
Frederick Anderson or what you put on
I thought they were way
that's rust
there's rust yeah and
and tip of the cap to the Habs who
yeah that's not the Elliot
yeah Elliot was saying afterwards
yeah if you say it's rust it takes away from Montreal
and what they didn't I think it can both can be true
that's correct yeah because
the Cain's what call whatever you want
they just weren't ready to handle that
no that's just it maybe
the the the habs
offense is better.
They weren't prepared for it, which would be surprising
to me. Or they were a little bit rusty or
a little bit of both and maybe a bounce here
or there. They made some really nice
plays. I don't know if you're going to duplicate
them often.
So before the game, this was the data.
The HABs have obviously
played the maximum 14 games, 2.7
games. So 14 games in 32 days.
It's a lot of hockey. It's not quite
every other day, but it's almost.
Carolina played 8 in 33 days.
Oh, man.
that's crazy right never mind the whole like 11 days and or whatever the gap was from
the philly series to this and they've played i think a very different caliber of opponent in round
two i think ottawa it was a good team that played a lot of close games but when we look back
at philly i don't know that it stacks up to what uh buffalo team montreal's seen and in the
point total would say the same thing philly needed a hot two months just to get into this thing
Montreal was points away from winning the division.
And they did.
They looked like a team that we've faced some adversity.
We've had some things that'll come along the way.
We're down one nothing early.
Okay, it's one nothing.
We're going to, we're going to be fine.
But what a, what a response from, from the haves?
I don't, what were you thinking when it was a minute in and it's one, one?
Is this going to be seven, five, or is this, are they going to settle in?
Because I, I have no idea.
where it was going. Unless you were watching live,
it was like, you got the alert and I go,
that game started. Holy, how many goals already?
Yeah. Like, I think.
By the time I turned it on.
It was already, yeah. They were in.
Yeah, I managed to be there.
I'm like, what?
Like, I'm at a ball dime in a spring bank watching
Jay's Yankees. I'm going to hop over when this hockey game starts.
And I'm already getting goal. It's like, whoa, whoa, this is started.
And it was like, oh, this would be a good game.
And then you're like, well, they're already up by three. I don't know if this is
going to be a good game. Yeah.
Pretty crazy.
Pretty crazy.
And Brindamore talked about it after he's like,
because he was asked about, you know, some specific guys.
It's been a long time since I've seen him play that poorly.
Slavin.
Since we've had this kind of a response.
Oh, yeah.
They just, uh, someone went into the archives to find a worst game for Jacob Slavin.
And it was like a dash five against Boston many moons ago.
Like Rod Brindamore said it's the worst game he's ever seen.
And someone was trying to find one that might have been worse.
Like that's how bad it was.
And this is a guy that we watched at the Olympics.
and has an ability to shut down.
Whoever you are, he's the best defensive.
I do not expect that if I'm behind the Habs bench,
I don't know if that's going to be part of my game plan.
Yeah, we're just going to make Slavin minus four.
Slavin's going to be terrible, so we'll be fine.
There will be a few things once you all be happy to take from it.
I'm not sure what Carolina takes from it.
I think you threw it away and you just saying,
I got a game.
Well, you guys got your game under your belt, so four out of six now.
Let's go.
I think the coach has your attention now.
4-2 after 40, and Carolina gets two shots in the third period.
That's not.
Again, that's the Habs playing well thing.
Now, it also plays into the, how can you only come up with two?
Didn't they have a power play?
They also had a post from Caulfield before the four-two goal.
It could have been 5-1.
Same sequence, right?
It's ping and then goal the other end.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I hope we have a series.
I think we do.
I think we do.
I was concerned, like we talked about it.
the last two weeks.
Are we just waiting for Carolina, Colorado?
If you were fearing that the third round would be favorites clobbering underdogs,
we're off to a great start because your fears have been quelled.
Yes, they have.
If that's a word.
It's easy to get caught up in momentum.
And we think, oh, man, this is how this is going to go after a game one.
Yeah.
Remember game one last round for Buffalo, Montreal.
Okay, this is maybe Montreal.
Win and beaten Tampa Bay.
that was their Stanley Cup.
Well, I haven't said one in game one,
and they're still.
Yeah.
Pretty good, though.
Got to win four?
I don't know.
It's hard not to,
are we enjoying Montreal?
I like Montreal.
That's the big question.
Can you get behind Montreal just because,
oh, it's Canada's team or whatever.
Don't give me the Canada's team bullshit.
It's the fact that Marty St. Louis is an awesome coach
and fun to listen to,
and he gives you solid commentary.
Or he gets questions and the team plays fast,
hard and how don't you love it? If you're in this market and you're watching a team trying to
figure out the whole we'll get rid of our old expensive guys and bring in young guys like
Montreal is the shining light of what you would hope to be. Is it not? Like savvy asset management
hit in the draft on some later guys like they re-bigeled do well when you you pick in the top 10
collect picks on bad contracts. First overall. Sure but other guys weren't like like
The first overall, but a bit of a bad draft class.
And everyone walked into that draft month thinking Shane Wright was going on.
And they made a really good pick to get a better.
I'm just kind of referring with the flames.
Like they've been able to have a first.
And honestly, you'd rather pick six in a different draft than one in a Yakupov type draft.
Right.
Like it's whatever.
It depends where you're picking at what spot.
But you look at their core.
It's not all guys that picked in the top 10.
No.
Like Suzuki's a savvy patchy ready trade for me.
eons ago before you know the swap of Vegas lane hudson's the second round or anyone could have had like i
bet you if you look at that draft when it goes in the second what would it be 29 30 of 32 teams that
picked to that point isn't that's unbelievable doesn't it drive you nuts you're like so everyone
yeah missed uh and some teams on multiple okay there were how many and it does remind you that like when
you're looking at 17 year olds sometimes you don't have a clue what this someone's going to look like a
24, 25.
Or you're like, yeah, we think he's, there's a chance he could be a star, but there's also
a chance this guy is playing in Europe, leading, you know, Ambrosian scoring in the Swiss
league.
Like, you don't know.
That's why it's, because he's not big now.
No.
You would think back to when he was 17.
He'd be, it would be the same size.
You'd be a bean pole with lighter and skinnier.
Yeah, I think maybe he's put on a little bit of something since then.
But you'd be look as, okay, well, yeah, he's a water bug.
And then how much.
How much.
How could you be?
Well, I mean, here's the example.
I'm sure.
I know.
When you watch at your kids' age level,
you'll have some kids that are fully grown in the sense that they're not going to get taller.
They're not,
they're going to add mass.
And then you'll have some kids that have hardly got armpit hair, if you know what I mean.
Like you literally are going to teenagers and trying to guess what they're going to be like his men.
That's why the draft,
the best people in the world are doing it.
It's not a bunch of idiots are collecting around draft tables, right?
He's 22 and his 5-9-1-6.
62 according to the NHL website.
60 second overall.
Where are those other 61 boys?
Where are we at?
Dean, you wouldn't want to do that, would you?
We don't want to disparage anybody.
The beautiful thing is it's actually an Evanston Wheeler selection pick
because they traded that second to get Kulak.
They gave away free.
It's Friday.
Kulak's the shit.
Get them out of.
It's not good.
I'm going to give up this second for Kulak.
Don't worry.
It's a second.
we can't draft for it shit. Hudson, oh my God.
We'll jump in with this now.
Jack's got the news.
We'll deal with tonight's game, but a very noteworthy item coming in.
Very good news.
Like, oh, it's whatever.
Go ahead.
Kill McCar out.
Again, starting to feel like we have a series in the sense of I don't know who's going to win.
A lot of people were.
that last round that wasn't playing
tonight, but they had surgery the day?
Yeah, that was the
Minnesota Wild.
Jonas Brodine, he's still day-to-day.
Be a game time.
He's not out for morning skate,
so maybe getting some, he had surgery.
Oh, sorry, he was not playing.
So.
I hope that's not.
Now, again, I don't really care.
It's Vegas.
It's more fun when he's playing.
It is more fun.
The series is.
If you're a Vegas fan, you're thrilled.
We said it yesterday.
If you're doing a draft to start franchises,
playing fantasy hockey,
like,
Kyle McCar is one of the top five,
10 names off the board.
Like, it's just,
it might be top three.
Sure.
You don't want to get upset if you put,
took him in the top three.
Who is your top?
Well,
you probably go,
Jesus,
McKinnon.
Who else would be in the next year?
Sid,
maybe,
although, you know,
we've got to talk about timelines,
but Sid's still a lead player.
Not Sid.
He's too old.
Yeah.
Like,
he's who are you taking ahead of him on the blue line in this whole league probably no one probably no one
okay you could take him to choose i'd prefer him to cues but they're both unreal i prefer him too
doubling back on the uh the habs with the lane hudson pick yeah there's a lot of players here
even montreal took two guys before they took lane hudson there you go they had slavkovsky at
one and then owen beck with the first pick of the second round how's he to do it
Not as good as Lane Hudson.
The flames selected Toppy Ronnie.
Topi Ronnie.
With pick 59,
Gleb Tricosov went at 60.
David Agoyette at 61 and then Lane Hudson at 60.
That just stings you, but you could do it so many times.
You could do it anywhere.
And you could do it with Johnny Goddrow in the fourth round.
You could probably go down to the,
just scroll down to a third.
Anyone good in the third?
Well, yeah, it gets a little sparse there.
What draft do you?
year was that?
22.
22.
22 still may be young enough.
Some of these.
Was that a Zeri or a
Paltjeet,
draft glass?
Here.
Excuse me.
Bless you.
Sure.
Well, we talked about
Simone Nemich yesterday.
He was at the two spot.
Coyotes took Cooley,
Shane Wright,
Cutter Goce.
Which pick was Goce?
Ro.
He was a fifth.
Wow.
Frank Nazar at 13
The ambitious
Bear show
Yeah
But yeah
If you're 5-9
It's like I don't know
If this guy's gonna make it
No flames pick in 2020
Yeah
One of those years
They didn't pick to the fourth round
Yeah
That's probably worth it
Was not yours
Because you told me they took Topi Ronnie
Well it was good they gave away
Moni for a first
Oh wait
That pick didn't work out
Yet at least
That's the good news
They think they took a slowback
the Habs, because that's the one
that would sting. Seven rounds
in 2022, Flames selected
three players. Toppy Ronnie
round two, Parker Bell
round five, Cade Littler
rounds. That's a swing and a miss draft class. I've got to tell you,
I've not heard of these young
lads. Well, none of them have played
in the national hockey league.
None of the will, Dean.
That's poor
asset management rate there, if you'll.
Well, you probably have to look at who they got for said
picks like if one of those was default. It's poor asset management.
22 is the year they would have moved to first of the deadline to try to help
you won their division top seed in the west I think.
Anyhow.
Just back to last night, it's not, I don't know who we whiteboarded.
But it was drinking out of the fire hose for the canes in that first period.
How massive that goal is from Caulfield.
I get it.
I guess if you're Carolina,
you score 30 seconds in.
The crowd is electric.
Here we go again.
Doing your cellies.
Wow,
this is so gray.
All right.
Drop the clock.
Here we go,
boys.
Nine and oh,
10.
How many in a row are we going to?
We may never lose again.
One one.
Okay.
Shit.
Because I was thinking of that because Jarvis was still on the ice.
Right.
It's okay.
Well, now you're even after a minute.
Hope is that,
how's that going for you?
All right.
settle in and
Alexander Carrier
he's a heck of a good player eh
I don't know how closely you've watched it I
he has been a fine player in this play
was he the guy they got for Logan Mayu at a St. Louis
not as bold to the point is
and then the Texier gets out of it's like they've done a really good job
their role guys you talked about it yesterday
they know their roles they've been very good
so this is so it's one one
We can show that we'll kind of run through a little bit here.
Brindamore talked about how his team just wasn't ready.
And I don't know how much of this is.
There's a play.
There's a play.
I don't know if you want to save there.
I don't know if you want your.
Anytime it's a breakaway,
you can't blind look at.
I was going to say,
I mean,
how many breakaways that's irrelevant is allowed in their first eight games of the
post season.
Jarvis cuts over.
The D commits.
It's terrible.
Hockey by the games.
And what they allowed for?
four breakaways last night maybe. So that makes it, uh, where it was that two to one. Then Texier,
who you mentioned. Another nice little pickup about a four minutes later. Go to work on the,
on the kill. There's Slavin, bodied off the puck. Turnover. Open zing.
Why are you standing there? Right. They're just, rust, asleep. It's out of your night.
Are you doing more clips? We can do one more because I mean, it's pretty, it's beautiful stuff. We're still in the first
man still in the first period
Alex Newhook he's been
very good
he makes a play to find
how old is Demadov 19, 20
how old is he still?
21? Good Lord
not too shabby
He didn't show up till last spring
So play right there by
New Hook and again
I think that's Kayandre Miller
so he decides I'm puck watch
and he slides over
and Demadov puts on
puts on the show.
The youngest team in the playoffs.
You can understand why they're so bloody excited in Montreal
because sure you might not have the
horseshoe type stuff we've seen happen,
like winning a game seven when you get nine shots.
But like they got at least a half decade
of being a bloody cup contender here.
This isn't even supposed to be happening yet.
Unreal.
To me, a lot of those are rust plays.
Yeah.
It's almost, it's cut between,
rust and trying to do too much. I forget who was doing color last night. Was it Galley?
Yeah. He kept saying, they're, they're just over pursuing. Yeah. It was total puck and like Slavin on that
one goal when he's standing in front. That's practice hockey. Yeah. That's what you get used to in
practice hockey, right? Where, sure. Guys in the corner, I know he's there, but it's that, oh, shit, no,
this is actually a real game. And what are you been doing for 11 days? Yeah. Playing practice hockey.
Robinson gets it to
4 to 2
Larry it was bad
yeah that's right
Big Bird the bird
To the third
And we talked about
Cain's got second
Two shots in that third period
Not
Not great Bob
And the fans headed for the exits
At about this point
705
Of the third period
Zink
Okay
users
Well I don't know
If you guys want to go back
A couple weeks
I think I had some
insight on plays like this.
Tell us about it, right?
Well, as the defender, and I really focus,
that's one hell of a play by Slav.
Because you play a little defensive way.
But I play D.
So when I look at things,
I see it from the defensive perspective.
I believe that's Mr.
How did they say it in the...
Svitch, Svich, Schachnikov, yeah.
Smetka!
He's not exactly a defensive stalwart.
He's not up for the Norris.
But I'm going to say it for all
the kids out there and the coaches.
Don't take the puck off the man.
Take the man off the puck.
So deep.
So if you just, right?
Giving this stuff away for free, Jack?
You're going to start charging people.
I should do that with a, they should have me into talking.
You should be doing color in this blood series.
Oh, you should be running something.
Yeah.
Run for the hills.
Run for mayor?
Let's get to our guest.
hotline, it's presentation of crystal waters, plumbing and heating your crystal clear choice for home comfort.
Call 587-317-1551.
Ask about the spring promotions that they've got going.
Of course, on the web, crystal clear Calgary.com.
How's the air in your house?
Is it pure, clean, well filtered?
Or it's like, geez, a lot of dust on this window sills.
There's a lot of...
Get some cat dander in the air like that a lot.
Eyes are watery.
No good.
Allergens.
Like crystal waters, make sure that your air is worth breathing.
crystal clear calgary.com as we welcome tsn hockey insider and our buddy he's there and drager hello dregs
how's it going fellas allergies have got me oh listening to you guys sorry yeah it's just no good
good i don't even know like i think everybody's allergic to dust right like dust and pollen and all that
kind of crap yeah um but yeah and it gets me so i don't know if you guys have noticed this and i got to be
careful to talk about it because it's psychosomatic.
As soon as I start talking about coughing, I start coughing.
It's one of those things.
So on the set, Studio 6 at TSN, I sit in my insider chair, the Bob McKenzie, not quite
memorial chair yet.
Careful.
And there's a vent above my head that blows cold air into my face.
Careful.
And that building has been pieced together over decades and decades and decades.
Like I have, like, I mean, I don't know where that airflow is coming from or where it's going to.
So as soon, like every night, as soon as I start to feel it, I seize up like an old tractor.
It's unreal.
I am constantly like there's a mute button, like a little cough switch.
That audio person must just want to put themselves away by the end of the night after,
listen to me snorting.
Our old radio studio
when we were in the Northeast,
it was supposed to be just a voice booth
and they decided to make a radio booth out of it.
So you'd have three guys sitting together,
shoulder to shoulder.
You could reach out and touch,
you could flick boogs off your producer's nose
because he's sitting right there.
And you literally,
they had to put in an air conditioner
that to keep the room
from being a thousand degrees.
Above your head,
you've got the old seal, and it's just black.
Like there's black soot around it.
And this thing is just,
and pump it away in the corner.
Just thinking about it.
And it's belching out water.
It's the air conditioner.
Piss. It's in a bucket.
It's no.
Yeah.
I mean, black mold isn't that bad.
I don't know how we're still living.
It used to be really bad.
Tough.
It's up the immune system.
Does it get it in here early?
You're like the dog, the wolves near Chernobyl.
That's right.
Yeah.
We'll never die.
We'll never die.
No.
No.
You guys are pickled anyway, so it doesn't.
Oh, that's right.
Quite a, quite a match last night.
Oh.
In term, I guess if you're a Hurricanes fan, you're not as fond of it.
If you love the Habs and you loved everything that was going on, but a wild night in Raleigh that I didn't get.
Probably most surprised, it seemed like Rod Brindamor.
Like his team, they were.
not ready to go and that is not the calling card of a Rod Brinelmore team.
Well, I mean, look at the way they started. So that first shift, you see that Carolina
four check and, you know, they didn't get, they really have gotten no production from their
top line. So Jarvis scores, some Sveshnikov and Aho, you know, 33 seconds in, you're like,
okay, here we go. They're, they're not done rolling over teens yet. And then, you know,
Not even the Caulfield tangle.
So again, you have, okay, one top line finds away,
the other top line finds away.
It was just how the ball unraveled after that,
that was mind-blowing.
That's what it was.
I mean, there was nothing about how Montreal got going.
That would be a surprise to the Carolina Hurricanes.
I mean, they know that Montreal is a heavy-paced team, right?
So if they can get their speed going, then look out.
But they got it going almost instantaneously.
and it was like Carolina's like, oh, geez, well, we knew they were fast,
but we didn't expect this.
Well, I'm not sure what you should expect.
And then, you know, just the odd man rushes, you know, the space they had to the middle of the ice,
the breakdowns in Carolina's defensive zone.
Like we always talk in cliches, but oh, they're going to flush that one, right?
What choice do they have?
If you're the Carolina Hurricanes, you have to forget everything about that.
I think, I mean, who isn't a fan of Jacob Slavin when he's playing the,
game that he normally plays.
Granted, he's had injuries.
He didn't play a full season, all of that.
But he looked completely lost out there last night.
I mean, he was dash four and, and, and, and, and, and, and look like he was a fourth
pairing defenseman.
And so now we're all sitting there going, well, how, how, how do they correct all of
that in time for tomorrow night?
And they're going to have to find a way.
It's real easy, actually.
Quit exposing middle ice.
Every cold was down the pipe.
Right.
Right.
Every one of them, down the middle, down the middle, down the middle.
Christ, get off the walls.
Well, you were saying, just burn the table, like flush it.
Like there's, you don't need to do the whiteboard on this one.
Wow.
And look, I mean, it's the experience, and I don't think it's lip service, but, you know,
minutes after they take one between the eyes on home ice, you've got Jordan Stahl just fully taking it.
Like ownership accountability by the team, right?
And I think that was the right approach.
They gave just enough credit to the Montreal Canadians for feeding off their adrenaline momentum of back-to-back series in the first two rounds, but not enough to, you know, pump their tires.
It was just, hey, this is more about us than it is about them, but let's give them some credit.
You know, they're a well-oiled team.
They played hard and they beat us in every way.
So, you know, we just said, I mean, that was a takeaway from me.
I mean, Brindmore in-game and then post-game just said, we weren't ready for their pace.
and then furthermore on Slaven, he's like,
I've never seen that in the eight years
that I've worked with this guy.
I've never seen that one time.
I think in some ways it might be the best thing for them.
Agreed.
If they come in, if they play poorly,
but they maybe lose an overtime or a bad goal.
Hey, we were right there.
You weren't right there.
This is an absolute wake-up call for Carolina.
Yeah, unless Montreal is able to duplicate their game, right?
And they might, they might.
It's 4-0 against the Keynes this year.
that's not nothing.
It's not nothing.
No.
And it, you know,
it was easily dismissed going into the series as one of the storylines because,
you know,
they can say,
oh,
it's the regular season.
It's not the same.
I mean,
Rhett,
you know this and I can't explain it.
You can.
Like,
why is it that some teams,
regardless of how they finish in the regular season standings,
just feel good playing in a matchup?
And obviously Montreal,
all feels good and comfortable playing against the Carolina hurricanes.
Matches.
Yeah.
They're huge.
Matchups matter.
I hate bringing it back to my playing career,
but I still remember Darrell Sutter,
before in the old 3-04 run.
Yeah.
Looking at the board going, who do you guys want to play?
Well, then let's finish in this spot.
Let's get to here.
So we go have to.
Matchups matter.
Sure they do.
Certain teams, you play better against.
It's funny.
There's actually certain rinks you play good in, too, as an individual.
Like that was always terrible in Pittsburgh.
That's terrible.
Philly, though.
Philly?
Loved Philly.
There's certain places you don't play good in.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's real.
We were just talking about Lane Hudson before we got in going 60 second overall.
61 guys get picked before this guy, going back to 2022.
Even the Habs picked two players before Hudson.
it does make you wonder sometimes.
Well, was he at some kind of,
was he hard to find, a little kind of known school?
No, it was US national development team.
And this has been a high profile guy.
It's just amazing.
You know,
Kail McCar slid, but he was still a top five guy.
He was playing in the AJ, but yeah,
but this is the end of round two for a guy
who looks like he's going to be among the best
at his position for a long time.
Yeah.
I mean, I guess it just boils down to size matters, right?
Yeah.
At least that was the scouting report when you're lucky at the game of Lane Hudson because he was pretty good with the development program.
It's not like this guy was seldom used and was just being recognized, being part of a very successful program.
But, you know, that's an age-old issue.
And I think that most NHL clubs and scouting departments have gotten a bit past that.
But, you know, Boomer, as you're talking about Lane Hudson, automatically I'm thinking back to,
Buffalo and when they drafted Zach Benson.
And again, you know, there wasn't uproar,
but there was some concern that they would draft an undersized forward like that
because there might have been a player here or a player there
that might have better suited their needs.
It's cliche, but I always think of this when you hear, you know,
the scouting directors and general managers after they make their pick,
oh, we just, we just picked the best player available.
Well, did you?
Or, you know, did he slot into it?
a size and a fit within your organization. Maybe that has to be a part of it.
But there are certain special players where it shouldn't be a factor. And Layton Hudson is
proving that and then some. And furthermore, I got a lot of time. So the Hudson family,
I think, is an interesting study. I don't know the parents at all, even a little bit. I know
that dad at least was pretty involved in negotiations and all of that.
which again isn't unusual.
But you look at the contract that Lane Hudson has now for the Montreal Canadiens.
Yeah.
Like Ken Hughes should have a job for life with some of the deals that he's made,
trades of players that he's brought in.
They go down the list.
You know, Noah Dobson, Carrier.
New hooks working out.
New look looks pretty good to me.
Actually, they pulled off a scrap heap because St. Louis didn't seem to have any,
like go down the list of all the people.
pieces and then you do have these contract negotiations.
I mean, if,
if Lane Hudson's contract is expiring this year,
forget about it.
Yeah.
It's a 10, 11, 12, 18?
Yeah.
He's a, yeah, yeah, has to be.
And we keep waiting for this kid to wear down.
You know, like that again was one of the storylines coming into game one of the
Eastern Conference final.
You know, look at the minutes that he plays.
You know, those are hard minutes, you know, he's, of course they are.
but I mean, he's obviously got the physical attributes that he can manage the skating side of it.
And he doesn't get hit very often.
He's elusive, right?
Because of his edge work and how well he skates.
So, yeah, I mean, he's just one of their all-round great stories.
And you get it.
Like when you look around the league, how many sub five, 10 defensemen are there?
Yeah.
Less than a handful.
Not many.
You look at the last 25 draft classes.
How many guys in the top two rounds have been drafted that are probably,
I'm a hundred and seventy-five pounds
And then you watch him and why didn't they take higher
I was like well he's a historical outlier.
Because McCar is kind of there and Craig Hughes is there and Lane Huds right?
Yeah.
But there's there's a few now.
It's a little undersized.
He's the smallest of that group.
Sure a bit, right?
The issue just,
I don't, you get caught up in sizes of it.
I don't think any of it matters.
It's can you move?
Yeah.
He's an awesome
skater. If he can't skate, he's too small.
Right. Yeah. And if
you can't skate and you're big,
well, it doesn't matter either, right?
And you know what? It's funny because
this is maybe not fair.
But here in Calgary, we watch
we watch a young man
who's 19. But his
issue right now in a lot of ways is
being a little bit more
elusive. Try to avoid
contact, getting hit,
getting hit hard with
with Zane Perrek.
That's one of Hudson's biggest attributes
is his ability to spin off checks or to
have his head up and not get caught.
That's something that Zane has to figure out
a little bit more here. It does.
Zane wasn't even in the league at same age, so I think
guilty. Yeah. You're right. Yeah, you're right.
Like, I remember watching Perak,
I guess it was the Memorial Cup.
And he got hit, but not hit hard.
Like just hit like every defenseman in the league
gets hit below the goal line. You know, occasionally there's going to be body contact. And if you
caught him, but I'm not saying flushed him, you just, it was one of the knocks and I talked with
the scouts about during that, that, that might have been around the draft. Like, he was either doing
it because he was trying to play games where he'd stay down for like two, three beats. Like he'd get
hit, but not flushed. And he'd go down and he'd stay down for three, four, five seconds. And
then he'd pop up and you go, geez, he must be hurt.
And he wouldn't miss a shift.
So, you know, the physical part of his game in some way, shape, or form, I think
will develop.
You know, he doesn't have to be a physical defense, but he has to be smart enough
not to put himself in those situations if that isn't a part of his game.
He just needed to go to Saskatchewan to realize that if you sit on the ice and you sit
your ass on the bench.
What, what, yeah, one and two, the things.
is happening either the coach that was always the rule right if you're hurt stay down if if
if we have to come out there onto the ice i don't care if you're five years old yeah or 35 yeah right
like if you're on the ice you be hurt and we'll come out and we'll help you we'll get you the
care you need but you're you're you're gonna you're gonna miss some shifts there i love i love going
on there well i don't do it because the message is made very clear where i'm coaching that
I'm, like you said, I'm happy to come out and help you.
It'll be right to the dressing room and get your shit off and go home.
You'll feel better as you.
Are you hurt or you?
I like the other one too.
Like when they're laying there and I'll practice or something,
I'm like, well, I'm not a doctor so you can lay there or you can get up.
It's up to you.
It's just no difference to me.
My son played with Cole Perfetti in minor hockey and Whitby.
Cole was, I guess he's a, oh two.
He played a year up his entire minor hockey career.
and he was masterful when body checking came in at pee-wee or whatever it was
at getting hit in the neutral zone and he'd go down
but the puck would go into the defensive zone
and he'd keep an eye up right and as soon as the defenseman
had full possession of the puck he'd pop up
he must have scored 30 goals one year on a breakaway from center ice just
like I couldn't and people would get pissy
about it, right? Look at this kid. He's staying
down and now he's got a break away. I'm like, yeah,
but wouldn't, like, wouldn't you figure it out
after a while? Yeah, what you do it?
This is what he's doing. Every other game.
Yeah, this is a strategy now. This is good.
Last night, a bit of a stunner
the night before, a bit of a stunner as well
as Vegas went in Denver
and handed Colorado a loss.
No Kail McCarr again
tonight from the sounds of it.
Yeah. This is
it's getting some concern
early here, perhaps for Bednar and the Aves.
I think so. There has to be. And not just because, you know, Ferraro and I did talk
about this on the podcast, it's pretty obvious that the Aves, they're just not the same
team when Kail's not in the lineup. I mean, the pairings obviously aren't the same.
You know, just, it looked to me in that game. And again, it's pretty obvious without McCar there.
They struggled to get the puck out of their own end, you know, and it's not like Vegas is this
big, bruising, speedy team. They're not.
not that. I mean, they'll play physical. I mean, they compete hard. They've got high-skilled players and all of that. But, you know, Colorado just seemed to get pinned in their own end, kind of uncharacteristically so. And I think that's a byproduct of not having Macar available. It's going to be curious here, fellas, how this moves forward with McCar. Because I was told on what day is today, Friday, so they played Wednesday. Tuesday, I was told that he wouldn't plug.
in game one,
but they felt like if they lost the game,
that he'd be able to go for game two.
Well, now, again, based on the reporting,
it doesn't seem like that's likely.
We know essentially what it is, right?
It's upper body.
But, you know, is there a determination that's been made?
Is it that medically he's not being cleared to play?
Or is it a situation where
maybe it's pain or whatever it is where he's just he's not making himself available yet.
And I'm not questioning, Kail McCart, don't misinterpret what I'm saying.
But I think there's a difference.
If he, if he's not being medically held back, he just physically doesn't feel he can play,
then that tells you the severity of what this guy is dealing with, right?
Because I thought when they lost game one that we'd see him, I would have bet not heavily,
but I had a bet in favor of Cale McCarer being in the lineup for game two.
So whatever he's got, it's not good.
Well, when you're 8 and 1,
and you storm back from 3-0 in a game where he went down the tunnel and came back
and they got some extra time off,
you're like, yeah, like they'll probably just,
when things get desperate enough, break the glass, bring them back,
but they probably didn't expect that one came in,
and now he's not ready to go.
Yeah, it's a tough one, man.
And the way Vegas is playing, you know,
what Carter Art, what, made 36 saves,
right. So he's obviously dialed in.
Shea Theodore, to me, is, I don't think this guy gets enough credit.
And maybe, you know, because you guys see him a lot more than most, at least the people I deal with in the Eastern Conference, that seems a little bananas to say it that way.
Because he's been on the radar.
He's a heck of an NHL defenseman.
But he, for me, has been really, really good.
And then the dynamic that they have with the minor line, you know, on Dors,
of and the combination that those guys can provide, you know, on special teams.
So there's a lot of real good positive mojo happening right now.
Ferreiro, by the way, told a story about Torrella coming out.
I don't know if it was during warm up or, you know, before Puck drop or whatever,
but he just kind of stood on the bench and spent time chatting with Ray for about 15 minutes.
Yeah, I saw the video on that.
Yeah.
I'm hanging out.
Going into game one.
So you have a kinder, a kinder and maybe more generous.
version of John Tortor off for getting slapped around by the NHL for not making himself available.
100 grand.
That'll do that to a guy.
Jump change.
We don't need to talk about it more.
I think this McCar thing is bigger than.
I do too.
There's no way.
It's not going on tonight.
It's huge.
Because either of what you said is true.
If he's in so much pain, they're not going to medically clear him.
And if they're not medically clearing him, then there's something there.
Yeah.
So this is an issue.
Well, the information I was presented with aligned with him not being available in game one.
Yeah.
But, you know, in the same exchange, it was suggested that if he didn't play game one and they lost,
they'd be surprised if he didn't play game two.
So if he's not playing game two, then it's worse than feared.
In a must win almost.
Yeah.
I mean, clearly it's not must win, but Jesus.
You go, oh, two, back to Vegas.
You have a way both at home to start?
Oh, yeah. Look out.
Yeah, yeah.
So we'll see, but you had a surly Nate McKinnon post game on,
yeah, the other night after game won, as he should be, as he should be.
But he can kick it into gear and flip that game in a hurry, and he might have to.
And he's not alone, they're loads of shit on the bench.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, he's something else.
Yeah.
I don't even think he knows he does it.
How does a guy like,
like Bednar, like he gives Bednar shit all the time too.
And it's, it's Nate being Nate.
But there is a point where it's like, how do you, I don't know.
How do you?
And I think it's gotten better over the last couple of years.
And I don't know this as fact, but I was told like that there were conversations.
And obviously between coach and player, but I, I feel like, you know, maybe his agent or his camp got involved in an offseason.
And I said, okay, dude, like, we got to tone that part of it down.
But we'll see.
Well, because now leaders like Sid, who I don't think, he certainly wouldn't do it in a public setting.
Not in a public setting.
He may go behind and close in the back of the dressing room and call guy out.
I don't even know if he knows he does it.
He's just he runs so hard.
That's who he is, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It gets, it's, we're in May.
We're in mid to late May.
And it's, there's no.
time for being sweet.
Well, I get it because the year before they won the cup,
he had the, I won shit in this league.
I've been in here X number of years and you're like,
oh, like that's a guy that wasn't happy about
getting to the conference final or finals, whatever it was.
And, but he wins and you're thinking, well, there's the relief.
No, he's still Nate.
And then you watched the last couple, like, they lost to Seattle
a few years ago.
Chushkin leaves mid-series. Last year,
Nchuskin with the player assistance removal in the
middle of a series against Dallas, that game seven is taken over by
old teammate.
Yeah.
Like,
I think he wants to win so badly and he's seeing what's probably a five to six year
window,
you got one.
Agreed.
He needs more.
Like,
that's what he plays for.
Well,
and he's,
I mean,
on one hand,
it's extremely difficult to win.
The Stanley Cup has been proven by guys going decades and decades
throughout being in the game forever and never winning.
But that core,
like we talk about Edmonton in their window,
that's hard to establish.
that good a team.
McCar, Hall of Fame, McKinnon,
like Landiscault comes back like this.
This is unbelievable.
Yeah, I mean, they have every spot filled.
You know, adding Brock Nelson,
I mean, they're so good.
They're so good.
As long as I retain my faculties,
I will never forget the vision
of seeing Nate McKinnon
except the, the silver.
Yeah.
And the stuffed animal that went with it.
like ah like
you don't eat like
there's no thought bubbles required there
it's just yeah everyone knows
it's what runs through his veins
like are you kidding me here what is this
it feels like the temperature has kind of gone down
a little bit in the league we had
obviously Evanston with the coaching and the Cassidy
in Toronto and a GM and a firing
it was a good week to 10 days
it feels like it's kind of quieted a bit
I was we did a little
kind of Q&A thing the other day.
I was asking about New Jersey.
It was not a good year for them.
They have a new GM, but Keith is still behind the bench.
Sonny Metta just going to roll there, roll into the next season.
Winnipeg had a nice resurgence at the end of the season and made it close for a long time.
It felt like Arneal was kind of a dead man walking.
Is there any other, do you expect any other, I guess, coaching changes or are we kind of
enough sand through the hourglass?
We're on the next season.
It feels that way, right?
but all the teams that are looking to, you know,
fill the position on their bench are heavily engaged in that process.
You know, the Edmonton Oilers, I wouldn't say they're cutting bait on Bruce Cassidy.
I mean, if Vegas decides, okay, all right, let's just cut this guy loose and save the four and a half.
And if he ends up in Edmonton, fine.
If not, that's fine too.
I doubt Vegas does that.
I wouldn't if I were Vegas.
But Edmonton is moving.
gone. I know there's been communication with Craig Baroube. There's some speculation around
Peter Laveolet, who's another decorated experience coach, and that would make sense in Edmonton.
Toronto, their process is still in the initial stages, which means, you know, they're still
going through their crew and they're talking to guys on the phone. Maybe they're having some
virtual interviews, but no in-person stuff yet. And yeah, I think Kenny Hall, the Los Angeles
Kings are doing the same, hoping that they get a crack at Bruce Cassidy.
But Kenny Hall, in the meantime, is kicking tires on some other candidates.
So the wheel of the succession of NHL head coaching is turning slowly in those three markets of this.
What is the deciding factor?
I'm Chaka.
I'm going to hire a coach.
I'm talking to 10.
10 candidates.
10 candidates.
All of them that show up are going to be qualified.
right they're going to have reasons for bringing these people in what is the deciding
gut instinct yeah maybe is there something like i i'm
i think you're philosophically aligned with what how they want to play no but you
but to your point like there's a lot of overarching questions are where they are now versus in two years
when mass and matthews and i'm not just talking about toronto all like edmonton it's like okay
you got lavalette or cassidy darrell sutter's name comes up around here a lot okay who and why
Yeah. Yeah. No, I hear you. I mean,
Edmonton is different among those teams for me because it feels like they need a closing coach, right?
And I do think that the reason why, you know, Vegas is not granting permission is an obvious one.
I mean, they had a front row seat to watch how good this guy was and they want to stand a cup with Cassidy.
And they know that he could do that in Edmonton and roll over them in the process.
So I get it. There's a competitiveness to it that I appreciate.
Toronto is the outlier because you're right.
I mean, John Chike was brought in by Keith Pelly,
who made a big deal out of data-centric decision-making.
Okay, so does that mean that the coach is going to have to be that guy?
I mean, so does that kick a door open for Jay Woodcroft as an example who's,
you know, I think he was humbled after his experience in Edmonton.
Noblock sounds like he wants to take some time.
You know, I don't know that that Toronto.
would go that direction.
You know, Derek Lone's name has been out there as a possibility.
What about David Carl in Denver?
Toronto is different for me because if I were the general manager
and still a relatively inexperienced GM and Chica,
I would want, if not NHL winning experience,
just winning experience.
And I would look very, very strongly at David Carl
with Denver. Now, the issue has been well documented. And, you know, if the time isn't right for David Carl to leave Denver because of family reasons, well, there's nothing you can do about that. But because of the Leafs are turning a page here, don't just turn it half over. Flip it over. You know, try something new, not something that failed somewhere else. And David Carl would be high on my list. Does it ever become an issue? Like the college football?
huge, massive industry.
The schools are making
these tons of money.
Coaches don't want to leave.
Yeah.
Is it ever going to be that?
Like, I hear Carl's name.
I'm like, yeah, there's a guy you should be out.
It was just signing an extension.
I'm sure he's getting paid politely.
Like, he'd be the all-paid guy in college, right?
When you think about lifestyle-wise and pressure-wise,
there's pressure for sure all the time.
But if you're playing 32 games for a college system,
it's a lot different than flying around the frickin' country
chasing after things.
and go in there for three years and getting your ass.
Here's your pink slip, right?
Yeah, Carl could probably stay in Denver for 15, 20 years.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, I'm just curious if NCAA is going to ever, I think the game is growing.
And I don't know what kind of the, certainly not college football,
but college sports is a huge industry down there.
And I got to think that hockey is getting bigger and bigger.
And some of these guys are probably going to go, yeah, this is good.
I got a great life.
Well, you're bang on and you made an excellent case for, you know,
the decision David Carl is probably going to make,
which is to stay in Denver for all of those reasons.
I would find it hard to believe.
And college football for me is different.
But anyone coaching at a high level of hockey,
for me, you're coaching because you want to get to the highest level of hockey.
And that's the NHL is kids are young.
So I think that there is a unique family perspective to this.
And make no mistake, I'm going to say this as complimentary as I can.
David Carl does not lack confidence.
So he knows he's a good coach and he knows that there will be an opportunity to coach
in the National Hockey League when it suits him and it suits his family.
The money will be there, the opportunity to win will be there.
The only thing that for me is unique and you guys are going to hate what I'm about to say.
It's different when the Toronto Maple Leafs are the team calling.
Because even though they haven't won since 1967,
the coach and the general manager that find a way to deliver a championship team,
I mean, straight to the Hall of Fame and you're getting a statue outside the building.
And I know that sounds absurd.
It's ridiculous and it's hurtful to other Canadian markets.
But it's true.
And these coaches and these GMs covet the role of GM of the Maple Leafs.
and the role of head coach.
I haven't talked to David specifically about Toronto.
I did engage with them several weeks ago,
just in general about an NHL opportunity.
So we'll see.
He will coach, but it'll be on his terms.
I want to talk about a search that was the first to start
and still seems nowhere close to wrapping up
so much so that we probably forgot it's happening.
Barry Trots, we knew a long time ago.
It would be his last year as the GM of the National Predators.
We've seen New Jersey, Vancouver, Toronto,
all well after that was proclaimed, fire a GM and go get a GM.
What's happening in the search with Nashville?
And do you believe that they're waiting for one of these final four teams for another candidate?
Because otherwise, it feels like something's gone sideways.
Well, it doesn't make sense if they're not waiting, right?
I mean, you've got four teams that are in the final conference runnings here.
And, you know, Darren York, who works with the Carolina Hurricanes,
his name has been rumored out there for, you know, a number of weeks now.
Now, information surface yesterday that suggested that maybe he was no longer a candidate.
I don't know that for fact, so we'll see how it plays out.
But guys like Tom Fitzgerald haven't been told, so they're probably waiting.
Mark Bergevan's name has been out there.
Is he in?
Is he out?
I mean, they're all over the map, but those guys are available, right?
So if you're not waiting for one of the vaunted four,
a group of could be more than four, I guess, available in the hockey operations departments of the conference,
finalists, then what exactly are you waiting for?
It just, it's a weird one to follow because the owner there is very much involved in the
process.
And it felt initially like he was going to steer it in a methodical way, but try and expedite
the process, even though he had Barry Trott saying, look, I'm on board to continue to
manage, you know, until you find the right candidate.
But, you know, with all due respect to Barry, if I were the owner,
and there's opportunity to make bigger changes around the draft.
I would want my new people in place to shepherd the national predators into the future at that point.
And that's obviously not this script.
This is why it's crazy.
And correct me wrong, but it's a new owner.
And they went with the third party route of saying we're hiring a search firm.
Yeah.
Well, they did initially, you remember.
and it was related with CAA.
I'd be going on anymore.
Is that what I was saying?
It ended shortly after, didn't it?
Yeah, very shortly after.
You know, even though it was a bit weird,
I can appreciate the conflict of interest and all that,
but this wing of CAA really is nothing to do with hockey
and they manage all sorts of corporate searches, globally speaking.
But, yeah, I mean, it felt pretty, you know,
they were first into the pond and, you know, here they are.
And we're not that far away from the draft.
And we're still speculating.
on who might be a candidate who isn't.
I mean, it's been a wild process.
And it's not like people would be turning that job, though.
Let's go.
No, at least we would take it, Dregs, if you can put a word for us.
Co-GMs.
If you have co-presidents in Vancouver, we're going to be co-GMs, right?
Why don't?
Yeah.
I'll be the bloody mascot, Nashville.
Run a popcorn stand.
Sabretooth.
Is that what it is there?
Yeah, there you go.
have yourself a fine weekend.
Think of how much smarter we'll be in a week.
Oh, wow.
All the answers a week from now.
No doubt about it.
Have a good weekend.
You do.
There you go.
Darren Drager.
TSN Hockey Insider,
joining us on the Crystal Waters.
Plumbing and Heating Guest Hotline.
Spring is here.
How's your drinking water?
How's your tap water?
Is it clean?
You've got to clean that stuff up with your plumbing water system.
We talk about your air.
You've got some indoor quality issues.
They've got the systems to make it nice and crystal clear.
Just.
Love it.
Love it.
Water and air.
You like it better clean.
I thought you had an interesting comment,
Gene, when you said that you continue to breathe the air,
even though you know it's terrible.
Yeah, you just sit there.
Is there an option to not?
Well, I take my lead from you with the scuba tanks down in the basement.
Yeah.
It's a lot of that.
Or you could just get crystal water's plumbing and eating.
Those are just like the right idea.
Yeah, you did it.
That's a long time.
since they started that search.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, it's crazy.
They'll hire somebody.
Well, yeah, it just feels like, are you getting the scraps?
Or is this, it's going to be real hard to say this is the guy we wanted,
unless it's one of these fours.
Who took guys, who are the guys that they missed out on?
Well, META was a high profile guy.
I know Toronto Sheld.
I feel like META was going to Jersey.
Well, he had prior work there.
There's a relationship.
They might have wanted him and tried to hire him and weren't successful.
We don't know.
It's just weird to see it go on this long.
At this point,
Like, Jacob wasn't on their list, was he?
I don't think so.
Jacob was out of left field.
It's not like there's been 15 GMs hired and they're like,
oh shit, we got nobody.
Plus, like I said yesterday,
sorry you're going to catch up.
Jack could do it.
There you go.
In Nashville,
I'd worry about Jack.
I saw him anytime after 10 p.m.
Poor decision.
Do you have the discipline?
No, no, yes.
I'd bring him in as a special assistant to the GM and then you know where the rink is.
I do.
Yeah.
You get to the rink.
You know, sir, the hot dog stand is that he peeped behind, too.
It's getting you peaked in your hotel room.
Oh, my.
Happens in national.
Hey, it's his first trip to Nashville.
We've all had a first trip to Nashville.
I need a huge.
National TV.
International coast to coast.
Global.
YouTube's.
Yeah, we're on the YouTube's.
We're on the YouTub.
Capital Automotive Group, CapitalShev.
Capitalshev.
3103 Lake Fraser Drive in the southeast.
I checked in with my buddy Claire yesterday.
How's he doing?
We're going to have some details coming up on a little get together.
Really?
Yes, sir.
Capital Shev, Calgary's truck destination.
Keeps the line up deep, hardworking silver autos and Sierra's SUVs.
Got the Denali right there.
Everyday commuters, maybe whatever it is you need.
They're going to $99 lease.
That's a real thing.
Big inventory, competitive pricing.
We'll find some corvettes in that lot as well.
A team that knows how to keep it.
Simple, whether you need something built for your big, long summer road trip, or just point A to B,
it's a place you walk in curious, you leave confident trucks, deals, and a no-nonsense experience,
just the way Calgary likes it. Good people.
See, to remember somebody had that line.
Can't remember.
13-103 Lake Fraser Drive in the southeast.
It's capital shev.com.
One word.
Look out.
One word.
Look out.
Good people.
Love that guy.
Let's check in with that guy.
I saw he was on my TV screen.
Yeah, we did the whole WHL final.
That's right.
He'll be in Kloan, I'm guessing, this weekend.
Memorial Cup starts tonight.
He loves the Memorial Cup.
No, like he has called an incredible number of high caliber sporting events around the globe.
And without question, number one with a bullet is the Memorial Cup.
I think so.
He cherished it.
He said, you know, when things ended at a certain shop, he didn't miss the NHL.
It was the Memorial Cup.
That was the biggest.
We were at the Memorial Cup in Brandon many years ago.
And the Hitman were there.
That was the Brandon Cosen vintage, although he was heard at the time.
It was also the Taylor Hall.
Oh, the Windsor.
Windsor Spitfires.
Greg Nemesis, Windsor Spitz.
That's right.
Yeah, yeah.
Strait.
Cam Fowler was on that.
DeLis, they were pretty good.
Anyway, I think Mark Stone was captaining the Wheat Kings.
Anyway, it was very, it was, Windsor was running rough shot.
Yeah, over teams.
And it was clear what was going to happen.
Poor Lou.
He had a bit.
He was very,
he was very sad.
Not that Windsor was just,
just clearly how this is going to go.
The Memorial Cups about having some intrigue and having to one side.
This is way too one sided.
No, I don't need.
Guys,
I can't go for dinner.
Distraunt.
He was.
He was totally rattled.
Love you, Lou.
Good old Lou.
He liked the Memorial Cup.
I think that.
I like the Memorial Cup.
Cup too, but everyone that goes there says, well,
how do we go through all this playoff series?
Yeah, yeah, now we're going to go into a round robin tournament.
Yeah, they could tweak some things.
It's one of those things where they, I don't know how you do it.
It sounds like lip service.
It's like you win your league championship.
That means more than winning a Memorial Cup.
And I think that sounds like somebody who won their league championship,
went to the Memorial Cup and then didn't win.
But you played best of sevens, four of them.
That's different than around Robin.
Darcy Tucker didn't feel that way, Dean.
He was very excited about his memorial.
kept telling you about it.
Himalaska, Braggerts.
It's going on and on, flapping their gums about it.
Don Hay, I said Don Hay.
Did you say, Dawn Hay?
Don did you say, hey, Dawn?
Don cut my ass, he don't like.
Really?
What?
Roald Juniors?
18-year-old year?
Really.
I was terrible.
Oh, okay.
Oh, so very astute.
Your fault, not his fault.
Don, you did the right thing.
Don't lose any of it.
I saw this.
I'll just bring it to your attention,
then we can move on,
because there's not a whole lot to say to it.
I had to backtracks.
Can this be accurate?
The Carolina Hurricanes,
and maybe you have it in the Pinder Report
and I'm blowing your spot,
in their last 18 games in the conference final.
Oh, no.
Have one win.
Well, 18?
The thing is,
there's two little.
Are you done?
One and 17.
Well, you have to have 18 games to get to one and 17.
So I mean, impressive.
Impressive.
And on the other hand, you can't win a cup without getting through a few more.
They're 0 and won this year.
Last year they lost in five games to Florida.
They were swept by Florida in 22, 23, swept by Boston in 1819.
swept by Pittsburgh in 0809.
Oh, Jack.
Thumbs up from Jack on the other side there.
That is horrible.
One and 17.
Well, it gets muggy out this time of year, Dean.
The further south you go that east coast, too, she's muggy, sweaty, damp.
So that must be.
Navy.
It is peak pain almost, right?
Like, it's to go that far and then to be so decidedly not good enough.
I saw people arguing about it, like on X or whatever you want to call it.
What would you rather have?
A team that's great in the regular season, maybe you win the president's trophy.
Home games are a blast.
You're doing your whatever storm surge stuff after games.
Woo!
We're clapping our heads.
It's great.
But you know.
Eventually.
It's a conference finals.
I don't know.
It's the whole, like, you'd rather take that than the last seven years that like the sharks and the hawks have had, right?
But it's like, or reason anyone pays to half.
attention to sports is to win the whole thing.
You're getting smacked down quite close to the thing you've been dreaming of as a fan,
your whole bloody life.
Yeah.
Now, they do have the 06, which...
There is that.
Yeah.
But, you know, Jack was probably dead back then almost.
Were you dead in 06?
Close.
No, I was very much alive.
Oh, it's like eight.
I don't go to my hyenas.
All right.
We'll move on.
Remind me, Jack, did we miss a super chat yesterday, or did somebody just kind of come in?
Someone put one on a different video.
Oh,
okay.
They'll fire it in there.
We'll fire that in there.
San Jose was like that,
weren't they?
Yeah,
yeah,
very much so.
Yeah,
they're always good.
They almost,
because they only had the one final
where they lost Pittsburgh,
if I'm correct,
but they got conference finals a few times.
And then,
like you loved a lot of the bones of that team,
but for whatever reason,
they couldn't go over the hump and so it's hard.
Probably to your point,
because it's only one team can win.
and it's really bleeping hard.
And it's like,
it's not as bad as the least
where you got to the second round twice in 10 years
because then you're just failures.
Who cares about your 100 point regular seasons?
But, you know, Joe Thornton and Pat Marlow
or everyone else got a ring that teams to get as we're here.
Jeez.
They got crushed, right?
Yeah.
Those two guys.
Fairly and unfairly.
Losers.
Great players.
Maybe they were.
I don't know.
Sharks have missed.
What are we looking at here?
Seven, eight straight years?
Geez.
Yeah, go back before that, though.
I know.
They had made it 15 of 16 years, which is incredible.
We're all idiots and hypocrites and stupid and forgetful and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
But Sabres, 14 years out of the playoffs.
How many rounds have they won since the turn of the century?
More than us.
14 years is.
I know, but I'm just saying.
No, and I guess the question is a series win, is that how we measure six?
or is it just the banners?
That's it.
That's all who cares how many years of darkness you have
if you get to hang a banner at the end of it.
And there's no right or wrong answer
because I look at those at Sandalsay
team for a decade and a half for contenders.
Like that's incredible.
They just never got to the top of the mount.
Take a little shot of people here.
I believe the American fan appreciates a wind.
Not a window of contention.
I think a Canadian fan believes
that we should be winning in the Stanley Cup.
that's what I'm here to cheer for.
The Holy Grail.
I think that's what the players play for too.
Oh, it is and they should.
I'm just saying your question was,
should you celebrate some,
you probably should celebrate them more than.
What about, for Americans,
what about say NFL?
Because I feel like they're,
where their hardcore passion might be more so than hockey.
It depends if you live in Cleveland or Buffalo.
Right, like if you're a team that you, like the Steelers, you know,
We make the playoffs more often than not.
We get there, but I'll probably get bouncing down one.
Probably.
I don't know if the people in Pittsburgh, they wanted Tom and out.
I think they're getting sick of it now.
Yeah.
That'll last a while, but now they haven't won since.
I would think, and I think you're right, Buffalo's never won.
They've been good now for a few years, but people are like, you got to go home.
Should have fun.
Because there would be other cities like, you guys are a great team.
You make the playoffs.
a chance you're in there.
But there's a
it's like milk in your fridge.
There's a certain.
I'm tired of this now.
Are we winning or what are we doing?
Fire this guy makes a trade that bum.
We're not winning with this guy.
Well, you are winning. You're just not winning the
trophy, the big one. You're having a lot of wins with that guy.
Yeah. So how would you remember the, and I'm not trying to rub salt in your wounds,
but like you get to the Super Bowl four years in a row, you lose them all.
Is that group looked at as like, wow?
Wow, what an incredible team for a half decade?
Or is it like that was the biggest choke job of all time
because you basically had four coin tosses
and you couldn't flip heads once.
I don't know, like it's all perspective.
They're both in a sense.
Yeah, one Super Bowl win changes everything.
Totally.
And that's probably how you're going to feel that that's
dynasty.
It's what Oilers fans probably as much as they'll tell you
how many series they've won and oh, this game seven of this.
Connor's not like, well, I did have that game seven.
and no, like Connor knows he's going to be measured by rings.
Well, that's like when you're going to the hall where all these super stars are going to go,
that's the differentiating factor.
Like Jerome has a regret in his career, maybe only one.
Just going back to the Keynes, I see people in the chest.
Does Brandenbor get fired if they don't win?
God, no.
Take a breath.
I would absolutely, I hope so.
Get him out of there?
No, they'll go there.
Stay there.
That's a good point.
Stay there.
Not let them.
come available. Do not have him come available?
Don't need that.
We need them to sign a seven-year deal with Babs.
And then he can get him from it.
All right, friends,

Trip for two to Vulcan.
I always liked it.
I can't even do the thing.
What is it?
Mork for morgue?
Not sure.
You're talking about it.
Final last night.
We talked about it a bunch.
Habs.
The team of destiny continues to roll,
boys.
The wheels did not fall off in round three.
I can't wait for Jack to get that Habs tattoo on his calf.
Do I have to do that?
Did I miss something?
Yeah, I had a bet.
Well, I must have something that goes on.
You're good for all the bets that you make.
Yeah.
Oh, he's nice.
Lannister always pays his debts, yeah.
What?
Yes.
You get an tattoo,
Jack?
You don't even remember.
Oh, Jack.
Where do I have to get the tattoo in your calf?
It'll look good.
I mean,
sure.
Fuck.
He's going to say,
as long as someone else put it.
No, I'll do it.
Yeah.
I don't know how to do a whole task.
I'll do it.
It's all you got to do is sterilize, sterilize a needle, Jack.
What do you mean?
Pay for what?
Yeah.
Just need some making some needles.
All right.
Pay for what?
What are you talking about?
Sign the waiver.
Let's go.
Is that an onion ring?
Rod Brindamore post game on Jacob Slavin, who was minus four.
He had a tough one.
I've never seen that.
Eight years.
He sucks, Slavin.
That's what he said.
Safe to say he'll be better.
I would think that that speaks very loudly, highly of their relationship where he could say,
you were terrible in public and not worry about slavery.
That's totally wrong.
Yeah.
and to be fair, if you and I work together and I said that one show you had was bad,
you'd get a lot of good bloody shows.
It's a hammer out.
Barring any adjustments, this is Perf Friedman at the end of the game.
Carolina went 1838 without a shot in the third.
Now, to your point, it kind of was over,
but they were definitely done trying to hang,
or Montreal was just in full control.
People surprised for this?
Yes. Anyone more surprised than this fellow?
I doubt it. Here's the coach behind the bench as it was happening in front of his eyes.
What that's going on? What's going on? What are we doing here?
He is miffed.
What are we doing? He's like, it's fucking round three thing again.
I love how animated here.
Show it again.
What's going on?
What are we doing? What are we doing?
Felt beside himself.
He fired out of the film.
What are we doing?
Oh.
Everyone forgets 8 and 0 pretty quick, hey?
You lose one game.
You're 8 and 1 in the playoffs and this guy is fun.
These guys are.
Unbelievable.
What you just brought up, we may underestimate a little bit of.
Totally.
I didn't know it was that bad.
I knew the last year in Florida.
One in 17.
Oh, man.
For years in a row.
Right?
Yeah, this is their 30s to Congress final.
Well, last two.
Yeah, like they're now 01 here.
They got one win against Florida last year.
Swept the airport.
Swept in saying that they've made it to this point,
lot of these guys are the same crew.
I was going to say.
It's like, there's less like five guys maybe that weren't part of this group.
Can you imagine the meeting the gym took last night after that game?
He'd have been throwing weights around and squatting and the music pumping.
Guys would be like, don't make eye contact.
Bad night to be a medicine ball.
Just don't.
Just getting slammed on the floor.
What's going on in there?
Are they doing repairs?
There's some rentals going on?
No, it's brittany.
He's fucking sour.
Tonight, tonight, tonight.
We are back to the other surprising start to a conference.
in Denver this time.
There's Landy, there's Eichel.
Puckered!
Have they puckered?
Is it puckered time? That is the question.
We'll see you.
In air in Colorado, it is already.
Yeah.
That's supposed to advantage the home team.
Jeez.
So you lost one already at thin air?
Oh, no.
You're puckered?
You got no McCar?
No McCar.
That's the rumor.
Now, the McCar thing is Ebden Flo.
This was yesterday, Bednar,
saying, we'll find out more tomorrow.
That's today.
this is today.
He's out skating before morning skate.
But then he comes back out with the optional morning scene.
But then he goes on to the bench and talks to the medical staff and points to his shoulder during the morse.
But then he gets back out and the morning skate.
I don't give a shit if he skates at all.
Clearly it's not a lower body engine.
No, he's pointing at his shoulder.
He's not a separated shoulder.
You can skate just fine.
Get out there.
Definitely not a skater.
But car looking great before.
Oh, he's out.
Come on, people.
Take it easy, Gio.
Yes.
Remember that?
Jersey.
Yeah.
Got a hurt in Jersey and then he went, took warm up in Long Island.
It didn't.
Ligaments severed from the bone.
You know, a peck stripped right off.
Can you just go out there and make it look like you're close so I could make a trade without.
Yeah, looking completely desperate.
That led them to the pickup of the Schlemcat.
I was going to say, that was the David Schlemtow.
Do the Schlemcat.
He was good.
He had a great shootout winner.
He was a good flame.
Crazy.
I feel like it was in Boston.
I don't know why the slump cat, man.
That was a long time ago.
Old friends, we love old friends,
unless they weren't our friends and we actually kind of hate them.
But there's Bob Hartley announcing his retirement from coaching after another
Gagarin Cup victory.
That is the KHL championship, this time with locomotive.
I'm done.
I'm tired.
I'm going home.
home, I'm old, end quote.
That's boom every Friday after this show.
That's great. I can't believe they stole my quote.
You should be getting, uh, that's plagiarism.
What is it called when they, they keep showing the movie.
They keep sending you checks.
Roy, you get royalties. That's your line, Dino.
Give it a read for us.
Jack, remember Booms say, go into the can and do your gratitudes.
Yeah.
This is Dean's, this is.
That's what boom does every morning.
This is my end of the day, gratitude.
My morning minds.
Dumb.
Tired.
They're old.
I'm old.
Yeah, they lifted them up.
They hoisted them up.
They were rah, rah, ron, cheering.
Hey, ha.
The goal, now this, the championship cup,
the Gagarin Cup or whatever,
quite heavy, apparently.
I don't know if you've seen this before.
Because what is the Stanley Cup,
what, like 37 pounds, 40 pounds,
something like that?
How the, what I know?
It's trivia.
Not, that's the only reason.
Come, Ryan, that was a ignorant.
No, I've never won it, never lifted it.
Definitely looked at it and pulled at it,
in Hall of Fame.
Ha!
Oh, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-ha.
That's more than 40 pounds.
Oh.
Oh dear.
He's very enthusiastic.
Clean and jerk.
Yeah.
Beautiful.
I got it.
Arms, arms, arms.
It's also a goalie.
Longer levers.
And that kid's way too big to be having a piggyback there.
That kid.
I can't see shit.
Get down.
The guy behind doesn't care.
They won.
Who cares?
Yeah, that's great.
Sure.
we assume that to mean he's done with coaching.
Yeah, he's, he said it.
That's it.
I thought he was done long ago.
Yeah, we'd forgotten he was still there.
Did coach team Latvia for a while?
It's odd that they won a KHL championship, I want to say five, six years ago.
We need to import Canadians to, uh, coach the team.
There's always a couple imports, um, of note, former Flames assistant that went to Washington
after Ryan Husky got the job.
He's now coaching the Red Star team, Kuhlundland.
Mitch Love.
The name of Subolini, thank you.
Okay, let's go to
well oiled.
Jack, be ready.
You just tell me what you want to see.
No, no, it's just, you know, like, it's Friday is Rett,
so I don't know what do we.
Welcome to movie phone.
Brett, just smack them.
Oh, Jesus.
On this day.
Well, they had to go to Game 7 and beat the Philadelphia Flyers to get there.
Stupid Andy.
Yeah.
This is, you know what?
This is egregious.
This isn't them winning.
This is advancing.
Every year or out right now,
two teams have advanced to the cup final at some point in their franchise history,
and Pinder has picked this one.
Just went down in memory lane.
Mike Camito's always got the anniversary.
What about no three or 02 or 01?
What teams advance?
Well, not on this day, Dean, on this 22nd day of May.
It's odd that they're not even close to being done the third round.
I guess the Olympics got in a way.
find it hard to believe no team in
NHL history has one of the other things
that happened on this day in NHL history
Dean let's let's take a look because we referenced it the other day
86 was the rookie year
Jack was surely dead when this went down
look at this sport
this is the same league you're saying so there's white boards
there's horse hay pads
wooden goalie sticks blank masks
and unmatchy blocker glove
that's rookie Pat Roy
and for old
this is not even that old
I have clear memories of this.
Well, it's 40 years ago, so.
You can go back further and it gets...
So this is all you have to do to be a Twitter hero?
You could just go, on this day in blank, blank did blank.
Today is pizza day.
Like and subscribe.
Today is pizza day.
What?
You should start that round.
I'm going to.
86.
First rookie gold center to record a show.
shout out in the playoffs and there was two back in.
I mean,
the, the observation is a good one.
Is he wearing shoulder pads?
He looks like he's playing forward at beer league.
Yes, that looks like crazy rent a goalie last call,
bottom of the list.
Except it was the beginning of a Hall of Fame career that someone argues
the best goalie well-time.
And he was tremendous, Jack.
And he did bring up on the show yesterday,
which grants me the ability to show Jack exactly what it looked like in 86 as a rookie
for Jack, you couldn't have scored on that.
as much as you've got that soft touch.
Would he have been one of the first guys to drop in the butterfly,
or did he amend that style later?
I think it was a stand-up goalie.
Look at the equipment and tell me that you're dropping down to a butterfly.
Are you getting up and down with wet horse hair pads?
No, kicking.
You're staying up.
Yeah.
God.
Wild, hey, Jack?
Yeah, I can get why they didn't ever drop down.
Memorial Cup starts tonight.
How sore your hand?
Catcher's hand.
Like the block?
would still work.
Right?
You're going to block it.
It's going to deflect.
The catcher's Smith.
That's like, what was that?
Defense, Toulouitzky
wearing an old gloved
shorts.
Like, there's nothing there.
Is he been wearing a chess protector?
What if you take an Al McKinnis
slapper in the collarbone region?
Who they literally played in the final
that year.
Like, imagine a hundred coming at that.
Oh.
Teas and peas, Patty.
You did it.
He just got fired.
Maybe Patty's going north.
Maybe.
You don't want to be the GIL.
Tate the winners.
Game day, here we go.
Rockets, hosts, Kitchener Rangers, Oitchell
Champions, that's how we're going to start the Memorial Cup in beautiful
Colonna.
Biggie.
Tej!
If we were any type of organization, we'd be out there covering this.
Do you want to be in Colona or do you want to cover the Memorial Cup or both?
Why would we, well, you have to have a reason to go to Colona and get it paid for and
How hard is it to pop in and grab some popcorn?
Day of, you got to bring this sooner to us, Russ.
Is Colonna overrated?
Yep.
Yep.
It's not overrated.
It's overrun with.
There's a lot of,
unsavory.
A lot of unsavory.
It should be.
It's hard to get around.
It should be one of the nicest places in the world, lakes,
lakes, mountains.
Now is probably not the time.
Probably ask me in January if Colona is a great place.
I was going to say,
Colona sucks in the winter.
If you want good weather for the next.
Four months.
This is a place.
Colonna's winters are no
Bueno.
Yeah, it's just gray and minus
two to five.
There's clouds hang low.
Do you wobble to and fro?
Do you tie them in and out?
Bo.
Bo.
Oh.
Over your shoulder.
To and fro.
Jackson.
Friday, let's go.
The foot daddy never.
Would you play the F. Friday thing?
Because I was distracted, but you are
completely out of the lunch today.
Well, I had a lot of hard hitting things.
Do you go on the lake this?
morning? No, I was on the ice.
We had a kid go down, broken ankle.
Damn it. And Red came up.
Well, I'm not a doctor, so you get up or a
get off. Get off.
Oh, I'm not a doctor. Maybe it's broken.
The kids, I think it's broken. What are you?
You paramedic, are you? Get up. Coach Warner, my skates
full of blood. I don't care.
Get them to the, get them to the ER.
Back in my day.
Looks here like you may have had kind of a.
a hairline fracture, but then he got up to skate off.
Coach said he had managed the dress.
Then it was a full fracture.
Did the coach, did they not help him?
There was there any assistance for him to get off the ice?
It was like two breaks here.
He was motivated to get off the ice.
Yeah.
Tees and peace to the young man.
Yeah, we feel for you.
Yeah.
It was not.
Although it was the other ice.
Enjoy summer.
Get off the ice already.
It's odd.
It's odd.
This is so boring for everyone listening, but I was on this.
That happened on the other ice.
But during our practice, they told the kids,
don't stay on your own side of the ice first goes across almost decapitate someone yeah
and to blow the whistle say if you cross the ice someone's going to get hurt and you're going to
have a terrible summer yeah foreshadowing right again back to you ryan
in may oh we'll slow go get some uh get some other hobbies like half the nachellers have
been done for a month half your kids are how old and we're split half the
NHLers have been done for a month.
Yeah, well, that's what we're doing.
We're working our asses off to take us to the N&HL and have a month off.
We're not there yet, kids.
Let's go.
Come on, parents.
Get out the checkbooks.
Let's go.
You know, who can afford to put his kids through hockey, all four of them.
Matt Stafford.
Already got a deal for this year?
Another deal.
Dad, Daddy.
This broke my brain a little bit yesterday.
It's a lot of money.
And he's not young.
And they just drafted a court.
There's gray in that beer.
And he's been playing for a long time.
My guess is not for free.
No, he's done all right.
He's probably been paid for the however many years.
He doesn't do shit for free.
Look at this.
Duh.
$105 million.
Over the next two years.
Over the next two years.
And they took Ty Simpson at 13, Jack, 14?
Yes, they did.
This is very much the Aaron Rogers, Jordan Love.
So you're going to sit for two years, young man, and watch.
Matt Stafford's a good guy to watch but it's also like well I can throw the ball too shut up watch Matt
I bet you the kids getting paid handsomely too how do we get up at pender wants us to pack it in as parents
with kids trying to get our kids to get some of these contracts and parents the kids aren't going to
get those contracts if you're not I think stafford uh huh he went to the same high school as I think
a famous baseball pitcher I'm trying to remember who was it was a sugar sinneger yeah okay there was a crazy
stuff.
No, it was
Verlander, Scherzer.
Guy just quitting Dodgers.
Quit on the door.
Oh, Kirshaw.
Yes.
Very well done.
Anyway, some in the water
at that high school,
Brett, you don't have to work all summer.
You're going to some of the high schools in the States.
They're gorgeous.
They're like a,
I saw one the other day.
It was like a $100 million high school with like a food court.
It's like a pizza hut, a subway.
It's unbelievable.
Matt Stafford earned about $219 million across
his first 12 seasons.
That's a lot.
He's made over $185 million with the Rams.
It's up to about 408.
Just.
Don't be jealous, Dean, because that stuff doesn't double if you invest it correctly.
Don't forget.
He's in California.
The taxes are a son of a gun.
Michigan before that.
All right.
Cavary FC in action this weekend.
Good for you, Matt.
Boy, Maddie.
Now, here's the thing.
We already told you.
Was it Grogu and the Mandalorian?
Is that what this is track?
Yeah, that comes out this weekend.
And Ali Moosey.
Didn't know he was making a cameo in this movie.
Great stuff.
Proudy Alley.
They're on the field.
Three o'clock Sunday against Pacific.
Look at the jerseys.
They're hot now.
Are they allowed to do that?
Can we get a shmedium for Dean here?
He's going to say, how are we going to get in trouble?
They did the Paw Patrol game a couple weekends ago, too.
Are they just trying to throw it at these endorsements?
They talked to Mason there.
Copyrated.
She's, I like it.
Just do it.
Don't need permission.
Yeah.
They got McLeod.
For forgiveness.
Beg for forgiveness.
Yeah.
There you go.
Wow.
Jack,
they're having fun.
Have fun.
Why not?
Man,
it looks badass, eh?
Yeah.
I would have a whole stadium full of nerds out there in the weekend.
Why don't they throw the ball?
Just shut up.
It originally was called Star Wars, not a new hope.
They added the name a new hope after this.
Shut up.
We're playing soccer.
Stampeders.
fan fest this weekend.
Which of these don't you love? I'm sorry.
You got pancake breakfast, autographs.
You get to touch the horse.
Jack, did you meet the horse when we went on the field after the game
and you were flirting with all the cheerleaders?
They're going to have to make the bean a waffle.
Jack is looking for a future wife.
You got a waffle maker there, Dave?
Yeah.
They'll sit you up.
You know what's going on.
Photo with the gray cup.
It's gray cup season.
You're the horse.
And $6 beers, burgers and hot.
Oh, my God.
You get your photo with the gray cup.
Come on.
You get to pet the damn horse.
Players are there signing autographs.
Pancake Brack six.
Let's go.
Quick six.
Good job, Stan Peters.
Good looking horse.
Stupid Jack's only going for the beers.
Gluck.
Just hammered trying to ride the horse.
Excuse me, sir.
Sir.
No.
Sir, there is syrup for those pancakes.
There's a feed.
It's a grizzly in the horse alone.
Six dollar beers.
Where else are you going to find that?
Speaking of horses, this is this.
jumped up in my feet today.
I thought it was absolutely awesome.
So they love bike racing,
like cycling,
right?
In 1997,
this famous scene occurred.
So this is a new clip.
No.
Timely,
I was dead.
Jack was dead,
which is why I found it important
to remind him that life before his birth,
or before his unddeath,
whatever he called.
He was dead for sure.
He was in a doubt.
He's like,
oh, you're fast.
He's dead.
What are you guys doing?
Where are we going?
This is unreal.
Get him a yellow jersey.
Let's go.
Oh, man.
These guys don't have any clip-clop etiquette here.
Move to the line.
Come on.
We got a new leader.
A couple kilometers to go.
Good one.
Pender.
If you like that, you'll love this.
I don't know if Jack was.
familiar with this guy. I know John Bender swears by this guy. Bob Green, an old NCAA football
coach, was the king of just the isms. I don't know. Just soak it up. It's Montana Tech
quote machine, Bob Green. It's like the kid that plays second French horn in the school band.
We got to play better. You know, and that's a double ed sword, you know. It's kind of like
watching your mother-in-law go off a cliff in the Cadillac. You know, you've got mixed feelings.
He's like that black lab on the first day of Feson hunting season. He was a lot.
pulling at the chain. We're kind of like a woodpecker and a petrified forest. You know, just keep
busy and look for opportunities. I wanted to raise my kids using a depth chart. Can you imagine
that? I wanted that. Pam Green vetoed that idea. I got a short memory just like when I was in
the third grade, two of the best years of my life. His attitude's positive. He thinks he could
take on hell with a squirt gun. Everybody expects you to win. My wife couldn't go to church with me
on Sunday and everybody said, where is she? I said she doesn't go out with losers.
I had a 6 ACT in 1967. One time I got an A and my grandma
beat me for cheating.
I don't
much winning they did, but those press coverage is electric.
This is what motivated Dave Dickens
and that's right. You feel it.
Dickey.
All right.
Hey, coach. And finally,
Dean, you had an interaction this week.
No, no, that wasn't me. I saw
this online. Not sure where it was.
You were recording from home earlier in the
week, and while at home, you stumbled
across this incredible online, definitely
not in Calgary. At any event,
attending event. That's right.
So, Waukeser, what are you about to see?
Well, it's that time of year, eh? That's for some of the big city schools.
I don't, for me, small town, you get to the end of June.
That's when you graduate from high school.
But they call it what, convocation.
Sure.
Yeah. Yeah.
So they could take a long time at some of these big schools.
Sure.
And apparently, you're told a few things.
No cell phones.
Right.
Don't be, don't, you walk across, shake the hand, take the,
diploma the hat walker yeah um i'm not sure who this young man is but this was a couple days ago
oh oh dear i've heard i had many questions is there's some practice runs done uh not with the robe i'm
guess you got the robe on yeah it's the gown or whatever you call it would think maybe it would
but I feel like watching in slow motion
that's not a gown issue that's just
not a rotation you can't do that
and then the hat goes and there's a slip and slide
there kind of tosses the hat backwards
still struggling to get up
disapproving look from the out of the paper
yeah that's why can I put this hat on
it doesn't really fit anyway it's tough
I was in the minority
I guess that's a great 12 foot there
Yeah, good, he tried it.
You only went for it.
A lot of people thought it was not very funny.
Did you erupt with applause?
I think I applaud.
In front of your computer.
I was not there.
I don't know what you guys are talking about.
No, but when you saw it, yeah.
Yeah, when I saw this, I was in the home studio,
when you saw it online.
That's right.
I was also told that there were two more gentlemen after this that went up and actually did land.
Oh.
It's stick the land.
From a good source?
You got that?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
And I heard yesterday, all three of them were suspended for the remainder,
got some sort of a suspension.
You lucky bastards.
Win, win, win.
A lot of sources.
Graduated, backflip, and you got on the Pinder report.
Get to go home.
How much time are you got left in school suspending these guys?
That's got to, come on.
Have a sense of humor, schools.
Trying to showcase the athleticism.
They taught in phys ed.
What the hell is the problem here?
It was so bad.
Because as you could imagine, the room was buzzing.
The home studio?
After that, yeah, after that went down.
And I was saying, I don't, he was so far off.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's, was he trying to do what he did.
Because this is good.
He was not close to landing it.
It was like, I'm going to go up and try a backflip, but of course, I'm not going to hit it and it'll be hilarious.
Well, because it was.
But apparently he was, he did have a camera person there ready.
Make sure you document this.
Because I'm going to nail that one shot at this.
I might be able to get a.
on the Pinda report.
Seriously, the goal was to actually stick the landing, but not the whole
forehead, chin and no, at the same time because that's, I said it was very hypocritical.
You got some guest speakers or whether they're like, you know what, don't be afraid to
take chances.
That's right.
Yeah.
That's right.
Yeah.
Don't let go out there and be bold to do stuff.
That's, you're suspended.
Do it.
You're told.
Yeah.
Don't just stay in line.
No phones, no backflips.
Just anyway, he'll have that forever.
I imagine.
And lots of time over the next few months to ruminates on that decision.
Yeah.
Apparently.
Feels like a pinder move.
Like a high kick or something.
Did you do something?
I had a huge afro.
I was obnoxious to sell.
I could do some strutton up there?
No.
Huge afro.
Were you a nerd then unlike now when you're super cool?
No, I was crazy.
Yeah.
So all the pals, you know.
Yeah.
No, my nickname was
Midget.
I was quite small.
I was the last kid
on our team.
You can't say that.
I just did.
That was my news.
I'm offended.
That is your Pinned report

Hearing loss,
sorry,
well, yeah, the hearing loss clinic I want to talk about as well,
but outdoor dental.
Dr. J. Patel.
I mean, he's not just, you know,
cutting edge leading,
leading the dental field and how things are done with
the Solaya laser. He's got the snoring treatment,
of course. Yeah.
3D printers.
My kid who was in there the other day,
got cavities fixed.
Yep, just like that.
Yeah.
It is,
they're changing the way it's done over there.
And I don't know if your kid is interested in this rat,
but there's an event coming up with Outdoor Dental.
Website,
Outdoor.dental, if you want to check out,
the Sip and Scan Night.
Oh.
The clear aligners, you come in.
Four till seven.

Secure yours now at Outdoor.
Dental.
Go ahead, nice little,
hey, get your,
get your teeth looked at. Look how happy she is.
Great teeth. Great teeth.
Wonderful smile. Dr. Jay's done some good work there.
Well, there's one guy in the room that won't miss it because it says sip and he'll be there for the booths.
Jack, you got to pick me up at about four.
3.30.
Spots are limited.
Jack.
I don't notice that part.
Yeah. Secure yours today.
So book your spot for the sip and scan night coming up on May 25th.
That's just a few days away.
Bam. How about it?
Can't wait.
Dr. Jay.
Dr. J Patel.
Go right across over to Leopold,
so have a pint after you.
Yeah.
Just keep it on going.
It's a Tommy Field down there too.
Yeah, that's a further walk,
but it's not that far,
but it's close.
Why did you come to sit?
Look, she's so happy.
You too could be that happy
if you're so inclined.
3.30, Jack, swing by.
If you're sipping up.
Yeah, it's right in my neck of the woods.
Hey, Jack, how's your round three pick?
Going. Who did you pick it?
Because we did our picks yesterday. Was that yesterday?
Yeah. Yesterday we did because it was game one for the canes and the habs.
And habs and four, right?
I'm seeing here, Carolina sweep.
Carolina and four.
24 hour rule, Jack.
Yeah, right.
No, we didn't see any school of masks. He's not allowed to change.
No, 24 hour rule.
Yeah. I don't know.
I got caught up in all their fans talking shit.
So I was at the gym and I looked and it was one nothing and was like, okay, this is,
It's over.
Sweep.
It was right.
Sweep.
By the time I looked at the screen.
That is.
It's like 10 seconds in.
I'm like,
this is amazing.
It's going to be one of those series.
And then I looked at the score again.
It was 3.1.
Yeah.
That is a Jackism.
Yeah.
He gets a little excited and then really down.
Little things.
Really down.
Also,
have you guys noticed how much he's bringing up?
Oh, I was out to gym.
Yeah.
It's a lot of.
Oh, my gym.
The gym.
Yes, it's at the gym.
I got up early, went to the gym.
Two days.
Last night after I wrapped up at the soup kitchen and then
went to the gym and,
no,
I'm not bringing.
Settle down, Jack.
I like to work out at the bakery.
Let us,
so walk us through,
what was your routine?
Do you have a set?
Do you have to take your notebook and kind of write down your set?
No, he knows it.
It's all memorized.
No, I don't do any of that.
I just kind of have like a back day, a chest day,
a leg day,
day. I try to go five days a week. He's back.
Well, you're looking great. Thanks.
Yeah, don't.
Barbie it for me to take shots at you for going to the gym.
I got his pretty good. I'm not pregnant.
I'm not freaking. I'm just where I was. I wait till he's at uh, Stamps Fest telling
the horse about all these workouts all hammered on $6 beers. Yeah. Jack boy, summer.
Yeah, I was at the gym. How do I look pretty good? You guys go to Jim? I do my buys and tries on
Tuesday. Not sure if you listen to the show, but I was.
at the gym yesterday.
My second session was a better one on first.
Bet 365.
Hockey fans, tired of waiting for the end of the game to get paid,
ready to move on to the next puck drop.
That's why bet 365 official partner of the NHL has three-goal early payout.
If the team that you're riding goes up by three goals at any point in the game,
they pay your bet out early.
Hockey moves fast.
Now with three-goal early payout, there's one less thing to wait around for.
It's bet 365.
Download the app, see what early payout is all about.
Must be 19 or older.
please play responsibly.
Oh, Jack made a little out at the bottom, that grease ball.
It is the Pirates and Jays, three in Toronto.
I think the roof's going to be open.
Do we get a Skeetton's appearance this weekend?
Yes, tomorrow.
Oh, wow.
What a treat for Jack.
This is what he's going to do the 9-99 and avenge all the failures.
Yeah, I can't wait, Jack.
And look, if you can finish six hot dogs, that's even better than last time.
True.
Wow.
I got a hockey game tonight.
We're going to do a little shot prop.
Nathan McKinnon.
Seems invested in this game tonight.
Dean, if I was going to guess.
But to project how Nate,
he'd be fired up, ready to go.
He and Marty Natchez for the Aves,
Eichel and Dorofaev for the Vegas Golden Knights.
4-3-22. Those are your shot totals.
Plus 275 is the parley total.
If you still think it's a chalky third round,
we all thought it was until they started.
Who value now?
You could parlay the abs and the key.
gains together for plus
2.30. Interesting.
But we've also watched
a dismantling of Jacob Slavin
and Camelcar not play yet. So
maybe go to the other side of that.
That's why we say be responsible.
There's inherent risk in a lot of things.
We don't have a crystal ball. You don't know what's going to go.
We're just saying, here, here's some things that might have.
We're having some fun.
The pirates tonight, you son of them.
Jeez. Your bet's not mine.
Not true.
Kevin Gosman tonight.
You got some guy named Bubba Chandler pitching.
It's a great name.
Bubba.
Don't have to be your bets.
Those are some of ours.
Got 365.

Must be 19 or older.
Please play responsibly.
You see the hoops there, the 15 points.

Please play responsibly.
Super chat.
So you went in mind an old super chat, Jack.
Yeah.
Like when we post YouTube.
videos, people can still super chat on them.
So someone did.
Nice.
That's fine.
Yeah, don't really encourage it.
I guess, but you want to get 279,
the brew.
Fells!
I need advice because I hate the oilers.
When should I stop wearing my duxtures?
Oh, geez, when?
It's a little early yet.
Yeah, it's still only. You know what?
Here's the thing. Let's think about this rationally.
It is,
I think, 16 degrees out.
You can take it off at any point when the temperature's above 20.
That's it.
Where to special occasions?
Yeah, any weddings or anything?
You just throw a blazer over that bad point.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Summer weddings.
But if you're out in about and it's hot and you're sweating.
You can, yeah, take on.
Keep in your car.
Some of the golf courses want to call her, so maybe just post round, 19th hole you put it back on.
It's definitely in season still.
Like, you're not done yet.
No.
No, it looks sharp.
You look great at it.
Turn around.
They, they do hold a special, not just for, was it, a bro, flow, whatever it was.
Also holds a special spot in our hearts as well.
It was Thursday, April 30th, the game 60th.
A great day.
Yeah.
So it's only been 22 or three odd days.
I don't say you got at least another couple of months.
Yeah.
In fact, and to your point, they keep that front of the closet.
Don't be shy.
Your people in your life remind them.
because they would
Yeah they didn't
They'll notice
There's all a big bear
In 2010
Daryl traded Aaron Johnson
And a third for steady Steve Steos
I remember that
It was the first ever
Calgary Edmonton trade
In a dark day in flames history
Because I think you talked about yesterday
And we were kind of unsure
Is that it was
Because we had this Johnson Staeos talk
I think it was yesterday
Yeah there's been some other since
Well there was the
Laddie Schmidt
Laddie Shmid
Your kids
Marantresois went there, yeah.
Isn't there a Roman Horac?
Roman Horac?
I believe it was just Roman Horac's birthday
the other day.
I thought for sure was going to show up.
It was Roman Horac and Roman Turric,
both sharing birthdays.
I thought there's no chance.
Romans.
That this slips through the cracks
on the Pinder report, but somehow it did.
Sorry, guys.
Jeremy.
About again.
As a casual,
I have always disagreed with Connor McDavid's
pillow fight comment. I think Vegas
loses tonight, but I think even the
flames would be the second best team in the metro.
Jeremy. I mean, you can
think that, but the point totals and the tougher
schedule would make it really hard to
soundly argue that in front of people
sober. You get
to play more Pacific teams. You get less
games against the Atlantic.
Why would you finish second in the metro?
Thank you for the $10. They're not better than
what?
What about the flyers? Because we knew
they were the worst. Worst team in the game. Yeah, that's
a little closer.
