And he was, obviously everybody loves big clapper, right? He plays a style and all that. He says it's funny that he's prone to what I think a lot of players

will fall victim to, if you want to call it that, when they are moved up the lineup. they're not as effective when they start playing on a second line. Then when they on the fourth line, they know what they are. They go out. They do it. They take,

they relish in that role. And then sometimes you can tell them until you're blue in the face. Don't change your game. Don't start just to do everything the same that it's almost impossible sometimes for guys to play that style. Yeah. It's like, okay,

well, if I want to stay in this line, I got to put up. I got to put up some points or I got to be doing something to show that I'm along here. So then you get a, no. It's like, uh,

it's tough. So yeah, big clapper on that, in that, in that role is, uh, has been good for them. He really has been. It's kind of, you need offense, but any you get from him feels like it's kind of a bonus. Yeah, for sure. Right. You're not going to rely on him for offense and you shouldn't have to rely on him for offense and you should be able to just like, it's a great story. Like they haul them over from Europe and undrafted in his, you know, young 20s and he's turned into like an absolute NHLer.

Like where you pencil him in and how he. plays we can discuss, but like, that's a hell of a fine. Yeah. Tip of the cap to the scouts. And for him, it would seem to be like, I guess it's limited in what you're going to get paid and how much you're going to play. But it's not about scoring goals. You can kind of control your effectiveness on a nightly basis for what he needs. Oh, it's nice for him. Right. Oh, for sure. For the fall or an adult, if you don't score for four or five games, like, geez, we're going to go. Hey, that. That, that, that, That's the money and that's the pressure.

You want to be an offensive contributor and you want to get paid? Get her done. You don't get to say, I like to play offense. Don't put up points and get paid. Find a roll. Pender's kid's finding the role. It's a grinder. Not a grinder.

He loves the hard hat. He wants to get the hard hat every game. He's a lazy little Taco Tuesday. He's very skilled. but it is easier in a way to play. It's not easier because it takes more out of you physically. Yeah. And you've got to play with emotion if you want to be that pain in the ass guy, hard work.

Yeah. And I think there's no, there's no measuring stick as far as I can look at your stats and go, are you producing? Yeah. It doesn't matter. If Klapko went through a year with eight goals in 20 points, we're moving, well, he was banging and crashing. Yeah. The stats you're measuring is, you know, like, are you paying people? Yeah.

Are you blocking shots? You know, there's probably PIMS wouldn't be the worst measure either. Six-eight. He's huge, man. My goodness. Yeah. Goodness, great. Sports, too, eight.

It's all about size of. This will, and you need to be, obviously, you got to kind of want to do that. Mm-hmm. There would be some time, right? You played as a young child as a, you know. Was your goal? I would love to be a fourth liner. Someday, I'm going to work hard.

I'm going to eat right and train. It's more of a recognition of... I'd like to keep playing. If things go well, I could get seven, eight minutes a night in the NHL on a fourth line and fly around. You got to kind of be okay with all of accepting that role. And for him, I'm sure it would be. But not everybody looks at it and says, yeah, that's... Well, you don't go into the game of hockey.

That's what I want to be. Cabby throws his kids out there finally thinking, but hey, well, let's set you up for success on the fourth line. Yeah. Everyone's going to skating school and skill school. And we're going to score goals. I got a shooting coach and just bang and it crash. You think of a guy like, I don't know why it popped into my head.

I got like Trevor Lewis. He was a first round pick, right? Like the boxer? Oh, that's Lenox. No, not Lennox. No, the LA Kings, Stan McCull. He played here for a couple of years for Darrell. Big D loves him.

Trev. First rounder would have, obviously, you have the skill level to get taken in the first round, but for the most part of his, he's a third, fourth line guy. It's like, okay, I guess you have to kind of flip that page. It's like, this is what to be here. This is what I need to do. 100%. And you have to be able to do it.

Yeah. You've got to have the willingness to do it, the ability to do it. It's a different approach. Yeah. But it's also not fair to say, well, you are a first rounder, so you're going to get put up, get us 50. Yeah. And I'm guessing Lewis would, you know, those guys would have had their opportunity and not made the most of it to score goals and get points. Tough sport.

That was the name that popped off. He always is sneaky high on those lists. Same with Ray Bork. No one remembers how much offense where he Bork put up.

I think he's actually the all-time shots leader in the NHL, which is wild. He's a D-man, like OV and him or one, two, I think. There's no way to tell. Because I wonder how much time, every player misses time. But for Sid, there was some serious stretches there where he had the concussions and that, that he missed time. So you wonder how, like, 50 points here, 60 points.

At that part of his career, those would have been serious, serious. point totals he'd have been putting on. We got clunked in that outdoor game against Buffalo, I want to say. And that was like a 60 game absence. Then he came back the next year and missed a little more time. People are like, is this going to be like derailing one of the greats? Lindros.
