Here's the problem with it all, is that it shouldn't be a situation where you have to put this much thought, effort, and compute

into deciding what to do with him. That's because of the stupid rule that you guys think I'm insane for always bringing up. I don't think you can put him in a hate. It's just you bring it up every time. We don't disagree with it or disagree with you. We 100% agree with you. You just know, but like,

but you have three right shot guys. You find room for him to play. The last thing you want to do is bring them back to Calgary and have them in the press box. Like, that's not going to help him get better. Going to junior and maybe not developing and keeping some bad habits, but dominating.

It's an option, but I don't love it. And then it's like, okay, well, you can give them a conditioning stint in the A, but you have to help these scratching for five game minutes in a row first.

And then what about the Olympic break and the window they trade hands? There's so many fucking variables here. And it's not all. just what you want to do. For sure, you're the NHL team and you control his rights. But there has to be a, he's going to be a, I feel like he's the kind of guy that gets sent to the A and is going to be pissed.

Well, you thought that was going to be the case of World Juniors and it was not the case. He seemed to thrive and love it from all we heard, right? Like you said when guys get sent to the, now maybe the injury changed everything. I said I, when I got sent. But that's the fear is that you send a kid down and he's like, bleep this. I'm going to get sent to June. The injury was almost everything there. Because he wasn't playing at the time he got sent down.

He had been out of the lineup. I think if he was playing 14, 15 a night and then get set, oh, we're sending you to the World Juniors. We're like, shit, I'm an everyday guy here. I'm playing every night. And if he goes to the, if he goes to Junior, he would, he might be mad that he went to World Juniors. Yeah.

And he might be mad that he went to World Juniors now when he made an ass of himself on the open net last night and everyone's going to criticize him. and they didn't win. Oh, I want to stay here forever and play. This is so great. Well, you blew it. And you know what? Like, I don't like that play either.

What's the time? What's the score? It doesn't matter. It speaks volumes. What's the time and score? You're down one with less than 30, and you've got a chance to maybe get the puck back to maybe give yourself a chance. So, no, I'll just give up.

So I, and I agree with you. I don't like that play at all. How do you balance? an outstanding offensive performance over the course of the tournament with that. Because this is Bouchard 2.0. And I've been saying it for months. There is going to be so many plays that this kid makes that you're like, wow, how does he do it? And then there's going to be the head scratching.

Why does it look like he's not trying? Like it is the closest comp I've ever seen to Bouchard. Well, I don't like it. I don't want him on my team if that's what it is. And just like Bouchard, it's the wrong end of the highlight reel. and yet at the end of the day, the pluses and the goals are always more than the minuses. It's just the minuses are these incredibly head-scratching plays.

And even when you take dry-sidle-McDavid on the ice, he's still heavily out chances. Outchutes and outscores the opposition. It's wild. It doesn't mean that Perrette at this age is destined to be exactly what Bouchard is. No, but what he is right now is what everyone hates about Bouchard. The comps, yeah, it's he's a... And to a lesser extent, Carlson before Bouchard.

I wouldn't want him. if that's what he is. And I'm not saying he will be, but if that's what he is, I don't want. And that, you know, that is a, that position is not the wrong one. I think if you pulled 30 GMs, you'd get a lot of different answers

about how valuable Evan Bouchard is. I don't think it'd be a consensus. We don't like them. We do like him. Carolina apparently was moving on an offer sheet that pushed that four times 10 to the table from the Oilers. Like there are teams that will covet them.

Others will say, I'm not touching them. And so there you have this polarizing asset is your top prospect. Like we've sat here doing this and how much time we've talked about it or just in the studio or whatever. Like it's a, it's got to be a major conversation at the dome. Yeah. Because like you say, But that's part of the problem.

It is part of it. But it is. You're the hot topic. You're the top prospect in the organization and the team's going, I don't know what to do. You wish it was different. And you've seen lots of really good players that everyone loves. have moments in their career where they and their organization were at loggerheads when they were very young.
