Well, if we're all here, we may as well do a thing.
Welcome to it on a Wednesday, the 19th of March, the aides of March.
Did we ever figure out what that is?
Yeah, I don't know.
I know that there's a book called that.
It's in a library.
Hey, it is a presentation, this thing that we do, of Bet365.
Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365.
The world's, my word's not there is biggest, greatest, best gaming platform.
sign up today. Use the promo code
nation when you do. If you haven't already,
be 19 and be responsible.
It would be. Biggest, greatest, best.
Yeah.
And the super chat is up and rolling.
If you are watching live, you're in the YouTube,
you want to put a comment in, put a little money down.
We'll take the money and send it across to the youth centers of Calgary.
And then later on, we will show your comment on the show.
Or maybe throughout, just depends where we are in our show prep.
if we've exhausted all of the show prep,
then we'll probably get to it sooner.
If we're jammed right up,
then maybe you'll have to wait.
Did we miss a biggest game of the year last night?
No.
Because we had 1.0 was Vancouver last Wednesday.
I didn't think it was biggest game of the year,
but then I did hear post game after the debacle in Toronto,
Blake Coleman and others saying this is the biggest game of the year tomorrow night.
Oh, really?
Hmm.
That's on me.
I'm sorry, because I was going to keep track
if that's the biggest game of the year 2.0 last night
or maybe we just say, no, no, no, they're just talking themselves into it on a Monday.
It's not on you.
It's on them.
They weren't paying attention when they were playing Vancouver.
We told them it was.
That's right.
That was the biggest game of the year at that point.
I guess they got the memo that, yeah, this game last night.
You lost in Toronto.
You got your, can you say, I won't say it.
You got embarrassed in front of a lot of people.
You got embarrassed and it didn't look very good.
So I guess you could frame it.
you know what I have written down here?
Demoralized
to energized.
Revitalized. That's what we saw.
Didn't see a common.
Just, you know, they're giving us clarity.
And that is, we have no idea what they are.
Just cut you.
At the end of the trip, just come on back.
We'll tell you all about it.
We'll have all the clarity that, uh, that we need to tell you exactly what's happening.
They go into Madison Square Garden in front of, uh, let's see,
hike and like 18 other.
Yeah, like 17.
thousand five ninety one does that include pike
I don't think it does
eh I don't know if
accredited media would count in attendance
I don't think we got to bump that one up by one
we're going to bump that one up huh maybe
maybe uh two one flames
win it a second night we're just
we don't need all these goals
Morgan frost offside
play Coleman offside
they're just throwing just over the side of the boat
just taking goals don't eat them don't want them
get the hell out of here
we did after burner last night, Gold and I,
and we could not help but laugh at going offside
and an empty net on a three-on-one.
Yeah, it's tough to do.
What's the hurry?
Just stay on side.
Oh, man.
Oh, no, I'm offside.
And again, 11 seconds left.
Doesn't matter.
I mean, I suppose there was still that peak collapse opportunity
with a neutral zone face off at 11 seconds left.
But 11's enough.
It's just funny because this team struggles so much to create offense that it didn't cost them a win,
but they did find a way to screw up a three on one in the net.
They did, yeah.
I don't know if, oh, do we have it?
Okay, so just we can take a look at it.
So it's, so Cod.
Oh, yeah.
Like it's a two on O, never mind a three on one.
Yeah, that's true.
Yeah.
Once possible moves it, you're two on an empty net.
That's even more egregious.
You're right.
So who's thinking what here?
Coleman just has to slow the hell down.
What are you doing?
Coleman just don't go offside.
You know you've got you just, look, he just skated past the guy.
You're not in a foot race.
Your only job is to stay on side.
And Nossam's got it on his passing side, dragging the puck behind him.
Just push it in.
Push it ahead of you.
I think he can't believe that Coleman's going to go offside.
He's like, holy shit, I'm going to have to move this.
If he extends his hand, look off where this puck is.
He's in on side.
Oh, he pulls it back to his skates.
Well, I mean, yeah.
I'm going to blame the guy that goes offside more than the puck carrier there.
They're both.
It's hilarious.
I think the puck carrier kind of dictates that situation.
Because in every other, when there's goal he's in, just to hang back.
Regardless of where the puck carrier has it.
If it's, you know, behind him on his skates or his back hat, you can't go in until he moves the puck in.
Anyway, offside didn't need it.
Bit of a brain crap.
They probably had a good chuckle afterwards about that.
but they went into the garden and gave up a goal a minute 13 and these are the opening statements
from a cloud law by the way yeah cloud law it's a litigation season i don't know if you knew that
law don't me yeah you kind of sit tight all winter you're kind of cold it's like boy really
warmer i'd sue the pants off that son of a gun now you're like oh you know it's all it's kind of
shorts weather i think we're ready to litigate i'm in a litigating mood today i'm going to take myself down to
mccloud law and press some charges that's what i'm doing today charges probably you press charges anyway
mcclough dash law dot com is the website whatever you're legal whether it's real or fake or whatever it is
they are the very best they are in calgary they are calgary they're here for calgary and they are the
very best you can check all of those boxes yeah opening statements is uh the flames get scored on early minute 13
in and it was I was like this is this is the old Lucy pulling the way the football
on Charlie Brown again oh so you're going to we're going to do this again are we I always
like it when they're they have to pull down the when sports that's got the here's your opening
lineup here's the lineups it's like oh take it down take it we got a goal look they barely
line combination never mind take it down take it down we've got a goal all jays
So, I mean, we've got a blown wheel there, wigs.
Yeah.
I also had a tidbit yesterday.
Steve Valcette of Clearside Analytics had noted that Dan Vladar is bottom five amongst qualified
NHL goalies on glove save opportunities.
But Aaron knew where he was going.
Well, yeah.
And Valquette does some work for the Rangers.
So that would have been on a little cartoon of Vladar.
Go glove, fellas.
They did.
They didn't create anything after that.
Yeah, we don't need to hammer.
I was going to say, because even his positioning,
it looked like if he, if anything, he was kind of poised to make a glove save there,
he was gone over to that side.
Anyway, they, uh, but then they, you know what they do with the flames?
They dig in and they hunker down.
They dig in.
Boys, we got embarrassed last night.
Now it's one, nothing.
Not a couple ways we can go about this.
We can pout and piss and moan and leave here with nothing.
Another embarrassing effort against the high profile.
team that's going to draw a bunch of eyeballs.
Or we can look at it and say how much time.
Oh, all the game basically left.
Let's just try and dig in.
And did they ever?
As they gave up very few shots throughout the remainder of that period and
into the second, they would actually tie it and take the lead before the period was over.
And then rode it like, uh, did Zorro ride?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Cape.
All the way to a two one should have.
in 3-1, but a 2-1 win.
They call that an eye band thing?
What do you?
Yeah, I don't know.
It's like a, yeah, I guess, or is that the, yeah, I don't know.
Either way, not super concealing, right?
Zorro, like, you're not really probably fooling anybody.
People know his jawline, his nose.
They see his forehead.
They know his hairline.
They just don't really know a lot about the shape of his eye sockets.
That's it.
It's like, if I put these, if I put these glasses on, they'll never know who it is.
is.
Who's this masked?
Yeah.
Was he a good guy or a bad guy?
He feels like he was a good guy, right?
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Like Peter Pan, Rob from the Rich?
Poor.
That was Robin Hood, but yeah.
Peter Pan did Peter Pan do anything?
He was in Dreamland.
Yeah, he was just fucking high all the time.
That's right.
He was the Allison Wonderland vibes.
You're no superhero, dude.
You're just nice of hate.
Was he with Tinkerbell?
Is that what it was?
Oh, yeah.
Tink.
a lot going on there.
A lot going on there.
Matt Coronado's got 17.
Codry's got 24, a two-assist night for McKenzie Weeger
after he got that skate thing figured out.
Yep.
Please tell me you hit that Coronado goal,
because you mentioned it like three times yesterday on the show.
Oh, shit.
I had it up too, because I obviously went to look at it.
And then I said, you know, be responsible,
just a little bit here and there.
Just drop a little bit.
Yeah, it was, you called it.
I feel like you lose the credit for bringing it up when you don't actually do it.
But yeah, New York guy, but we get to mock you.
He's been so consistent.
It had been six games.
He just continues.
I mean, you go five and then get one, then go five without.
It's not, that's not super consistent.
But he has, he's avoided long scoring droughts.
And last night would have been the sixth.
And he found a way to, to get it.
I mean, either way, there's just, there's some things that you like about this game.
I guess, but like we talk about a lot, in rodeo, the bull gets a score.
Yeah.
Would the flames have gotten a rewrite or who gets the rewrite?
Because I don't think the Rangers were very good last night.
They were dog shit.
That's one of the worst efforts the flames have seen from an opponent all year.
And considering where they are in the standings and what the stakes were, they seemingly watched,
the Toronto Calgary game and said, yeah,
we're not going to have to work against these guys.
And the one thing the flames have proven this year is that you do have to show up and work.
And if you do, you know, they're, they're certainly,
they have some deficiencies you can exploit.
They don't score a lot of goals.
They got to two in the first and could not get to three,
despite having a two and oh, an empty net.
But the Rangers were awful.
I don't know that they created a really, really good scoring chance after that goal.
I'm trying to think of like a big save from Dan.
And I'm not taking anything away from Dan.
not unlike the whole
the cowboy bull analogy.
He can't make saves that aren't there.
I'd said last night,
if there was ever a game in his career,
he could read a magazine.
That was probably the one last night.
Yeah,
there was one,
I'm trying to remember,
because it was right after Chesterkin
had kind of come over to make a save.
I think it was on the Coronado one timer
that went through the seam,
and he slid all the way to his right.
And then Vladar had to come to his left,
and Abbott was saying,
and then there's,
whatever,
Vlodar has his response or whatever,
but it was,
yeah, it was a tidy little night,
but at the same time,
the flames have not necessarily
been able to rest on those sorts of things.
I give them credit.
There was a thing,
and we'll get to James here in a moment,
but it was,
because when was Gerard Gallant let go in New York?
Was that after the,
like his age is one of the last,
it doesn't matter.
Anyway, it was him,
his post game after being eliminated.
And one of the reporters had said,
do you feel like this is a lost, you know, with all the talent on this team, do you feel this is a lost opportunity?
And he said, talent, I mean, talent's great, but talent doesn't mean anything when you don't work.
And when, when you're not willing to work and you don't have a team environment, you know, I'm put kind of paraphrase, but he kind of goes into it.
If you're not going to put that talent to use, if you're not going to try and you don't want to, then you may as well not have it.
Talent does nothing for you. And there was a bit of that feel last thing, because somebody had obviously re retweeted it.
It's a lot of skill there.
But it's...
2020, 22 and 22, 23.
Two seasons, full seasons.
Lost in the Eastern Conference final in his first year,
flamed out in round one the second year.
So that was probably wrong.
Quite recently, more recently than I thought.
Yeah.
You're right.
You look at that roster and you have all stars at every position
and you look at their effort last night.
That's embarrassing.
Yeah.
Gittee Miller was not very good at all.
Zabinajad was invisible.
Crichter, I mean,
Invisibility cloak.
I don't know.
Adam Fox did not look like a Norris defenseman.
I don't know what's up with him.
Did not have the Great Force nations.
Shastirkin obviously was brilliant.
He's very good.
And they swept the puck off the goal on in the first.
And there was four or five really good saves from Shisterkin in the third.
But where was the pushback from the Rangers?
Yeah, weird one.
Weird one.
Let's get to the insider hotline.
It's a presentation of Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating.
What's going on in your house?
say it's you may not think about maybe would it be a good idea if just before we fire on the old
air conditioning or whatever you got before we start pumping it through should we have somebody
take a look at it yeah the answer is you should uh they're here for you and if you're a barn burner
customer you listen you watch and you go to crystal waters new hot water heater ac furnace you'll get
discounts upgrades up to a thousand dollars in value and just know this when something goes sideways
in your home the first thing that pops into your head is crystal water's plumbing and heating
crystal clear calgary dot com as we go to the
insider hotline and say
uh,
bonjour.
A commasava to uh, Jamie
McLennan who was, did you have a,
uh, what toasty, what do they call
the dogs there in Montreal?
The shan chen chen show.
Shian show.
Did you have a shan show last night?
No.
I, I'm not a big, like I've eaten them.
I think I've told you the story where I got busted
eating one out of my glove by Joe Quinville,
all of that stuff.
But when you like break down,
they're not, they're like a boiled
weaner in a toasted bun.
Like it's not, you know, it's...
You're singing my song.
But I did not, I did not eat one last night.
I will say they have a media lounge meal that has been legendary for years.
They've taken their foot off the gas.
It was like chicken sticks and fries last night.
It was lean.
I think what it is is you get a lot of people, a lot of floaters in there.
And I think they, I'm not sure how much they charge you.
Like some of them are usually about 12 to 15 bucks.
I feel like this is like north of 20, like 22 bucks for like...
For the media meal?
It was not good.
Like I was disappointed in last night.
I will say the cookies were good.
So I did have a, you know, the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie, which was solid.
Good choice.
But the meal was just average.
Usually you go through like every, I mean, I've been in every rink.
And the media meals are usually either solid.
They're either top notch or they're garbage.
There's nowhere in between.
right and you know some of them like ration the food like certain buildings there's a guy back
there in a hairnet with some you know you know mitts on handing the food to you and which is weird
you're like you know we're not like they're I mean for the most part us media members can be pigs
so I'm sure there's guys that do three and four trips oh sure but like the rationing of the food
really drives me nuts I'm like can I get a better piece of chicken they're like no no you only
get one and I'm like all right are you saving it for later like yeah but in Montreal they
they have a really nice buffet it just last night I thought it was a hmm it was a you know it was
the rangers effort last night that's it wasn't that the media meal the media meal put up
13 shots or whatever that hell that was was coaching the chefs in the back there before that
one or what it was just like I don't know I watch and you were
talking about Jerry Gallant and you know like you're you're you're looking at it at some point like
it's not the coach it's the players and yeah I agree with you because I went back and watch that
game because I I had my eye on it you know what you're doing is scoreboard watching it because
we're you know we're doing Ottawa Montreal the Rangers have ramifications so now you which is
good for the league it's good for the fan bases it's awesome and I'm like it's two one and I keep up
you know refreshing the app and I'm like okay two one two on shots keep going up
2-1-2-1.
I'm like, oh, the flames are having a game.
So I go back and I'm watching the first period,
they ran them out of the building.
Like the Rangers might have just put their suit on and went home.
It was embarrassing.
It's really bad.
And I like the response because I don't think the flames put their gear on in Toronto the night before.
So, you know, it kind of, I thought the response was fantastic in a sense.
Now, that being said that the flames did generate, I think, 15.
high danger chances against the Leafs.
It just didn't look that good.
But going back,
the Rangers looked awful.
Like awful and the flames looked great last night.
It felt like the team,
they scored two goals.
One was a ship goal and one went off of Lawton and in.
It felt like Hubert O could have had five goals last night.
And it felt like they as a team had five scoring chances the night before in Toronto.
So it is crazy.
We've talked about it a lot of noodles.
And I'm not here.
We don't need to pump.
anybody's tires necessarily.
But what Huska has done with this team,
I saw somebody had put together a list.
It might have been Mike anyway,
showing where teams dead last in goals four,
like five on five or just in scoring,
where you end up.
And it's like last, last, last,
almost last, basically last, last.
And flames are 16th or whatever,
middle of the pack right now with the worst scoring.
The work that he is getting from his D,
and it's not pretty, you look on paper,
and it's Hanley and it's bean,
And yeah, there's not a, all this is it, Wolf or is it Husker, Dean?
There's not a star to be found.
Well, hey, last night, give the Rangers are part of it, I suppose.
But that's a team, to me, that's a team effort last night.
Yeah.
Well, they work.
I just don't know that it's a master class in coaching so much as elite, elite goaltending.
Like, you're number two and even strength, save percentage in the league.
That's a big reason.
Fair enough.
Fair enough.
I guess all, because we have talked a lot just about the effort.
There's not many days that we come in here.
where we have that Toronto reaction.
Yeah.
Where were they last night?
Yeah.
That's maybe on one hand over the course of this year.
Rhett threw out of the puppy poo out of one of those games in Florida.
They were not good in Toronto.
But they played that.
I was looking this morning because I thought it was a back to back,
but they played that last game of the six game road trip in Dallas.
We had that, this is a loss.
That's a simple loss.
They're going to get their doors blown off.
Yeah.
They were, they were right there.
They were not the, were they the,
were they the better team?
I don't know, but they fought their,
they fought like dogs in that game and got a point.
And then last night,
second and on the,
back to back in the road,
the whole thing.
You were embarrassed the night before.
It's a bit of a gut check.
It's a pride check.
And to me,
they passed.
Yeah,
they got the win.
Rangers were no good,
but still,
there's,
there's something in that room,
I think,
that doesn't really get you much,
but there's something in that room,
I think a lot of teams would like to have.
Teams that have that talent,
like Gerard Gallant was saying,
we can have all the talent in the world,
but unless you're prepared to use it and care,
then what good is it?
Those guys care.
And work.
Like, I don't know how you guys felt.
I thought last night, if they lose, that's curtains.
Like, check, please.
You give a bad effort in Toronto.
And if they get blown out in Montreal or in New York,
I'm like, it just doesn't look good.
And it was a response game.
You're right, they care.
And I do believe, Pender, I do believe they can go hand in hand.
You can have great coaching and have a great.
great goaltender that masks some of the lack of
talent, like lack of talent, however you want to frame it.
Because you have had elite goaltending from one guy.
Vladar, you know, I thought Vladar was solid.
Like you didn't have to be brilliant.
But I look at, you know, the big picture.
I think it can be coaching.
I think it can be on a given night.
Somebody has a special night or somebody.
And the goaltending has been fantastic for the most part.
I was disappointed for Wolf in Toronto on a couple different levels.
Yes, he had an off night and you get pulled and all of that.
But we know, you go into the Mecca and for some reason, if he stands on his head.
He's getting votes.
It's votes.
Like, no, it's not even getting votes.
He won.
Like, I felt like that would, like, if he stands on his head and the leaves are flailing and he steals that game,
then people are like, well, we lost to the rookie.
of the year. Like that's what it is. We lost to the guy who's going to be a star. So it was a big
platform game for him. He's going to have many in his career. But that was the first
opportunity in that building for him to go, here's a statement. Here's what you guys haven't
been watching because we start at 10 o'clock Eastern time most nights. And I thought the first
period, he was right there. He didn't love the first goal. I thought he overplayed a little bit.
but outside of that, he had a couple in tight plays.
And I was like, okay, he might have a game here.
And then they tie it right at the end of the first.
And I'm like, okay, I can see Calgary like molding one out if this guy stands on his head and it's two one.
It's three one with an empty netter.
And then the wheels fell off in the second and they never got it back.
But, you know, I look at the big picture.
The flames, they did what they needed to do last night.
I don't know if that would translate to a playoff spot, but it certainly made it interesting
for me because I was waiting to see what they were going to do last night.
It's interesting because you noted last night, it could have been curtains if they lost.
St. Louis gets a big win.
Vancouver knocks off, Winnipeg.
Utah, now it feels like they might be.
Slide out.
Yeah.
Last call here.
We're into Hail Mary territory.
But three of the four teams buying for one spot.
And when you throw the games in hand around like virtually a dead heat right now.
Yeah.
This is going to be interesting.
This was not what anyone had.
mind when we looked at this roster in September before the season started.
And I do agree that Husker's done a great job with this group.
I also think there's nothing that heals wounds and covers up injury better than
goaltending.
And they've had both, in my opinion.
We've talked.
To use the name, but there you have, and we've talked, there's Kipper.
It's Kipper vibes.
Yes.
Where the team is getting points or wins on some nights where they don't deserve it.
No business.
The only reason.
I don't disagree.
And it's not sacrilegious to use that name, even though we know the body of work has to be extended for a long time.
But when you have a special player, which he is, and he's still learning on the job, anything is possible.
I do feel like, you know, on given nights, he can be such a difference maker where the team is like, okay, we just need, it's a race to two.
Like we might be able to get, we can get to two.
You know, we'll see what it's like down the stretch.
They've got a tough schedule.
They've got some tough opponents coming up.
But just like we said, you scheduled loss in Dallas and it's like that scratch and claw find a way.
You know, getting Zari back was big because he just had some speed and skill to it,
which they're, you know, they're in certain areas they're lacking.
I was disappointed in the Toronto game because I thought their veterans didn't.
Like I thought Cadre was, you know, in a homecoming, I thought he was going to be an animal.
And he played great last night and was no good the night before.
Like I kept looking and thinking to myself, you know, what what is going to be the separator for the flames against the Leafs?
And I was like, you know, it's going to be Huberto, which Huberto had a great pass to find Anderson on that play.
And I'm like, okay, it's going to be Cadry that does something that's unique to hit.
his skill set.
And it just didn't happen.
But last night, they looked dangerous.
They looked like they were engaged.
And we'll see.
I mean, it's not an easy trek on this road trip.
They've got to find a way to get points.
They'll be in Jersey tomorrow.
Walk us through your thoughts on Jacob Marksham's first full season in Jersey
and what Jake Allen has given them in the two chair,
where he seems to do his best work in this league, interestingly.
But I think Alan has transitioned into a fantastic two.
I'd say more 1B because he can give you short-term starter minutes.
Does he have McLennan vibes?
Well, no, he's better than I am.
Come on.
But what I was good at is, I'll give you an example.
The other day Anton Forsberg hadn't played in 33 days, so calendar days.
And he came in and he played very well in Philadelphia.
And I remember saying at the start of the broadcast, you don't get to wear a sign around your neck going 33 days.
of not live action here.
Nobody cares.
You've got to go in the net
and you've got to play
like you played two days ago.
And Jake Allen,
good backups,
have that ability to go,
doesn't matter what you're throwing at me,
I'm going to give you a game.
I'm going to give you what I've got.
So I will say,
the only thing I had the ability to do
is it could be two weeks,
two months,
and I treated that game like it was a game seven
and I was able to kind of
just block out everything.
Jake Allen is a better goal to,
than me.
He can give you 10 games as a starter.
I call it short-term starter minutes now because I don't think he's an everyday starter
now.
But he's a great, he would be a great acquisition even for, I think he's unrestricted
next year for somebody, you know, or give him an example, he'd be great to play with
Wolf as a mentor, a veteran guy, awesome, unbelievable guy in the room, really well-like,
great work ethic.
Again, I'm just spitballing.
But when you look at what Wolf has ahead of him is if he's going to be the guy,
and we'll call it a 58 to 62 starter guy, which is today's world,
then you need somebody that can pick up 25 to 28 starts.
It can't be your traditional too.
It's got to be somebody who's been a tan and maybe a veteran guy in the league.
That's why a guy like Alan comes to mind when you brought it up.
And I look at New Jersey's situation.
Markstrom has been up and down while they like their team.
You know, I don't know how they're, this is wrong wording, how they're hanging on and getting
wins where you've had, the Jack Hughes thing was a massive blow.
You take a superstar out of your lineup, the team just feels different.
Dougie Hamilton, you know, that type of stuff.
Like, we joke on our show, we call him Top 50, Dougie because he was on our TSN top 50 ranked.
You know, when he's healthy, he's a hell of a player.
It's just, as in health has struggled with him recently.
but they have talent, they've got speed.
Sheldon Keefe is a really good coach, really good systematic coach.
So you can't just show up and go, hey, you know what, New Jersey is banged up.
They didn't throw in the towel.
They kind of doubled down at the deadline to not, you know, fall out of the standings.
So it be interesting to see, but Jake Allen is given marks from the nights off that he
deserves.
So, you know, but there's always that little extra playing against your former team and
especially the kind of the way it went down to, like, you know, hey, you didn't trade me at the
deadline and hey, you're only going to go here, that type of stuff. I don't know, all the
whispers we heard. You asked me to wave and then I had to think about it and then you never traded
me. I feel like that pissed him off. And rightly so.
Let's go back. You were talking about Montreal because the Rangers game obviously did have
an impact. You've got the senators and the habs and the Rangers are all kind of in that dogfight.
And the six game win streak ends for the Sends last night. And you look at the scoreboard and it's,
oh, boy, this is a lopsided affair.
but it was, I mean, it was a tight one.
There's a couple empty netters there, but it was, I mean, you're on the wrong side of it,
but it was a, it was one of those nights at the bell center where the crowds into it,
the Hudson scores of beauty.
It's back and forth.
The Sends had two leads.
It was a crazy night again in Montreal.
It was.
It had a playoff feel.
It was a Tuesday night at the bell center.
It felt like a nightclub.
Right.
DJ rock, like I'm not lying.
I was like, where am I?
They had a DJ on the Jumbotron, sponsored by Monster, and he's just like, he's rolling it.
I'm like, this place and the lights are going.
And the place, you know, it got silent for, you know, was a seesaw battle.
Montreal scores right away in the game.
So now of a sudden the building's just electric.
And then, you know, Batherson comes down and ties it up.
So it's like 1-1.
Then it's 2-2.
Then Hamannock, of all people, scores a muffin from the point.
And I'm like, okay, that could be your dagger.
And right away they come back and score it's 3-3.
And then Suzuki scores on the power play, I think, with about four and a half minutes left, four minutes left.
And it's 4-3 and the building is just exploding.
And, you know, yeah, the two empty netters, it is what it is.
It wasn't a 6-3 game.
It was a one-goal game that could have gone either way.
I thought there was some really strong play.
We termed it on the broadcast.
It had some teeth.
it didn't have fights, but it had some irritability, had a few scrums, had some hits,
but it didn't rise to the level of like every whistle was a punch in the face contest.
Both teams knew what was at stake.
So I didn't think, I thought they were not going to head down the road of like,
let's be stupid and see what the ref decides out here.
So it was a good playoff game for a Tuesday night in March.
And one last thing I'll add, when's the last time both those?
organizations played meaningful hockey on March 18th against each other it feels like it's been a decade
but it's just been a minute like it's been a minute for both of them in Ottawa was a playoff team in
2017 yeah the habs went to the final but but that was a COVID short and season they made it in
you know kind of on a weird no fans like it was just so looking at it the last time those teams
were like in a playoff race it's together down the stretch all 17 teams
to be honest.
I can't remember the last time all seven Canadian teams
were in some form of playoff fight or fight, you know, individually.
But we're looking at, you know, six of them potentially could make it or, you know, five or four.
But it's pretty impressive.
Give us your thoughts on the wild card.
I sort of think Ottawa's there.
I mean, they're going to have to really stub their toe.
They're five points clear of the Rangers and they have two games in hand.
That to me says you're in there.
Maybe you fall to wildcard too, but I think they're in.
Can Montreal do this?
It's been,
the overall numbers for the year aren't great,
but they're just playing so much better in the second half.
So the one thing I always look at is goal differential,
and they're at minus 16 right now.
But I'm also giving them a pass is because they dug themselves,
not a six foot grave.
It was about an 840 foot grave at the start of the season.
So the numbers are kind of skewed where they're digging out of it.
I have to be consistent, and I know Montreal fans would be disappointed with me,
but I didn't think they were a playoff team this year.
I thought they were going to be about an 84-point team this season.
And, you know, they're going to probably prove me wrong here by the end of the day.
But I felt like they have taken a massive step, and they have some players there.
You know, Montemboa settled in as their one.
They got the young guy, Jakob Dobra, or I,
I butcher his name.
Dobish.
He's a nice young goal turner.
The Caden Primo experiment didn't work for them.
And I give him props for making the switch.
This Hudson's a player.
Like there's no getting around it.
Like he's on pace for 65 points, which puts him in top six category all time for rookie defensemen in scoring.
And there's names on there that are five Hall of Famers.
Like it's insane.
And so he's a player.
The guy who impresses me the most, and I shouldn't be surprised by this, is Nick Suzuki.
Like, I don't, I think early on the projections on him were going to be, you know,
poor man's bursar on 50 to 60 points and, you know, what's this going to look like?
He's a hell of a player, like really smart, really strong on the puck,
works with his linemates well.
We forget that Slav Kosky, who is just, he's Nachushkin at 20.
Like, he's just a beast.
He's a mammoth.
And Caulfield can shoot the puck.
Like, they've got something special there.
And then their supporting cast, the Gallagher's, the Josh Anderson's, the Armillas,
the guys who've kind of been there for a while, they've come on.
So I still think, and I might be wrong on this because it's recency bias.
The team that the flames played last night should be the team that gets the
that wild card spot.
But they've been so wildly inconsistent.
But I heard you before you came on,
you've got an All-Star in every position.
And not just like a scrub all-star,
like, hey, he made the All-Star team one year.
Like this is perint, this should be perennial.
Like, you know, Vesna winner, up for a heart type of thing for the goalie.
Fox Norris winner.
Fox looks like, I don't know what's happened.
It looks like he left his legs at the border or something.
Like, I don't know what the hell's happened.
He's, he looks.
He looks slow and weird.
Like he looks uninterested.
And Panarin is Panarin.
I mean, he's in and out of games.
He's a dangerous player.
But I look at, I've always felt that the Rangers, if they could gel at the right time,
they could maybe be a dangerous team to get that last spot.
But I don't know.
I mean, at this point, it's a coin flip, but there's four or five teams still vying for it.
How about this?
Montreal, dead last.
I just picked a random day in November, the 13th, minus 21 gold differential.
So, yeah.
To your point, you don't want to marry those stats before middle of November because this team's totally different beast.
They are.
And, you know, once in a while, I think it was the Washington Capitals last year, had a negative goal.
Big time.
Outside of that, like, usually you need green in that.
When you're looking at NHL.com, you need green on that side to show that your team is capable of doing it.
You know, that being said, like the Rangers, they're there, the Islanders won't go away.
Columbus has stubbed their toe a little bit.
That's the other thing.
Because you own the spot now.
The Rangers are going to have to take it from you.
Are they going to elevate and are you going to dip?
Two games in hand too.
Yeah, it just Montreal, there's a vibe there.
My heart two weeks ago was with Columbus just based on the adversity,
everything.
It would just be an unbelievable story.
You know, Dean Eveson, what he's been able to do there.
That's a coach's bump, if I've ever seen one, a guy who put structure into a team that didn't have the,
they don't have the best goal to any if you look at their numbers.
So, you know, I can't figure it out.
This Islander team won't go away.
They were down two Cobb last night to pit and just all of a sudden you look, it's four, four, two.
And they're like a moldy team.
Like they just, like, I don't, you know, I don't know how they do it nightly.
I know the goalie's a star, but I just, you know, that Dobson is kind of had a slow start and come
on and they've got players that can play.
But I can't figure out who I would bet on for that last spot if I believe that
Ottawa has that first one.
Yeah.
I kind of feel like it's Montreal.
It would be awesome.
It would be awesome.
And, you know, I see the, what is it, the league meetings, the GM meetings like
Betman said today, like people are like saying, would you, would you,
ever think of one versus eight and he said absolutely not and you know i don't know we we always
toy it around like what would be the most like the craziest progressive thing that you could do that
maybe other leagues have done like the NBA has done the play in and stuff i don't know if that's
translated to success uh because the first round sucks in the NBA like that's not a problem in the
n hl the best hockey you have is around one of the playoffs right it really is but is it better
to have great, great teams go home in the first round, or is it a way that you can spread
the wealth? Like, I go back, and this is how old I am, 21 teams in the league and 16 that
used to make it when I first started. And now it's 32 and still 16 making it. Could you expand
to something, you know, to two on each side to battle it out and get, like, I don't know.
Is there some sort of progressive thinking that you could get to where it adds more fan bases in that we're talking money.
We're talking revenue.
And a lot of those teams that we just talked about are coin flip teams.
Yeah.
So, you know, I can see Montreal in.
I can see the Islanders in.
I can see, you know, you name it, Detroit.
And they're going to one of these, like two or three of these teams are going to miss the playoffs by one point.
Sure.
Maybe there should be a play in something there.
that allows them one last kick at the can.
And it's a couple more, or, you know, maybe one more gate or two more gates for owners.
Like to me, they have to be progressive thinking.
Like, I don't think it would affect the top, would it?
Here's the thing.
Like, the three-point games are already doing this.
It's artificial, you know, you're keeping more teams in the race.
Like, why in the world some games you award three points and others, too,
makes no sense to me.
No other, you know, sports league worth a shake does it anywhere in the world.
Right.
I mean, I mean, soccer, they do two for ties to incent you to win.
But this is the opposite.
It's like trying to keep teams lingering around.
I will say this.
Why are we going to a tie break on points?
Like, oh, he's got more regulation wins.
How about just fucking play?
How good would that be a win in your in game rather than, well, you know, back in November, that was the one more regular.
That's a chance for real winner.
That's a great point.
And maybe that's where the league starts.
Yeah.
That's where the league starts to see that.
That's your trial balloon going next year.
if there's a tiebreaker, those two teams are playing.
Yeah.
You're right.
Not who got a regulation win October 29th.
You know, like, I think there's, but, you know, the league has to find a way to be a little bit more progressive in certain things where it could just, like, I think it would help grow.
The fan bases are all chomping at the bit for playoff hockey for all this type of stuff.
If you could find a layer there, maybe you do start.
start at just a play-in game if you're a tiebreaker you know it'd be one of those things it'd be
like the four nations yeah if the game if you tried it and the games were great it'd be awesome
and if it was all that you know they lost three game miniset they lost two it wasn't close uh well why
are we even bothering to do it right it would it would depend how it ends up going at the time
it's winning you're in you got two teams no but i'm talking about if to noodles's point if
what if you did uh okay so the bottom four are going to do a
Right, right.
A little set for.
I, you know, I, I know we mess with it now.
Like, I went back.
Somebody asked me about my stats and I was like, I think I had like 35 ties in my career.
Like ties.
Yeah.
So, you know, because it was my son.
That's what it was.
My son's like, Daddy, how many games did you win in the NHL?
And I was like, I think I won 80.
And I lost like 100 and something.
And he goes, well, you had ties there.
And I'm like, yes.
see there there was ties back then like i i believe in my career i've had two zero zero ties
wow imagine the entertainment that right yeah it was you know minnesota wild nashville
predators zero zero tie like you feel bad the fans would have needed oh man yeah you're walking
out of the rink and what did i do tell you what did i just watch like i just lost two and a half
hours of my life yeah and spent you know 84 bucks on beer to watch this night
But you think about it, like the league has changed.
So it does affect the record books a little bit, you know, win losses.
I've heard that argument as like, this goalie has more wins than that goalie,
but he's been able to get overtime wins and shoot out, you know, all of that.
That was like the Bruins noodles that legendary season two years ago because, of course,
these epic teams in the 70s and 80s, it was just a tie.
He didn't have a chance to go to overtime to win.
It was like the Islanders point streak versus the Oilers winning streak last year when they
won so many in overtime.
They're just going to tie if it's if it's died.
Yes.
It is tough to compare it to error.
But that's where I'm saying, okay, if you're, I don't think the league is that like
historic where it's like we got to protect these, you know, these records.
We've got to protect the integrity of it.
It's just in their mind, they're bullish on certain things.
If they're talking about expanding to 84 games, make, make two of them a play in for those
team.
Like that's where I'm saying, if you want more gait.
If you want more fan engagement, make those games important,
not just another Tuesday in November because we could squeeze two more games in
because we're looking at revenue for everybody across the board.
I think there's a progressive smart business way that removes emotion from it
and goes, we can add to our sport that way.
I don't know.
We have, we had to have a play in.
Yeah, we have our own bracket here at the show.
because it's March and it's about brackets and that.
So we've got the, we've got the candy bracket.
We had, it was tough near the bottom.
We had the dinosaurs versus the airheads.
And then it was the blue whales against,
I forget who it was.
High chew.
High shoes.
Yeah, poor high chews didn't make it,
which is tough.
Can we just see the bracket first?
Just we can get the,
do you have the dip where they,
we don't have the fun dips.
No fun dip.
What?
Fun dip to not make the tournament selection committee's tough.
There's only 16 spots noodles.
The wine gums didn't get in.
One of the community is outraged.
There's,
so we've,
the cola bottles are at the number one seed because when we were at the stage,
at the radio station,
we did this and they were the,
the champions.
So we gave them the number one seeds.
So the blue whales are going to have their hands full there.
But we got the rancher.
Mike and Ike's quality.
Like I love that.
They're fuzzy peaches.
That's a lazy pick.
I don't know who the hell's choosing that.
Fuzzy peaches.
Like that's a long.
immediately. So the dinosaur is a two seed?
Wow. Fuzzy peaches. Like you've been you just it's literally you're backed into a corner.
You're just eating like peaches. Like it I like variety of flavor in my candy. I just I have a
tough time with that one. Blue whales. I mean, they're elite. Yes. Blue whales are. I had to beg and
plead to just get the blue whales into a bloody play in for 15. Giving them no respect.
else. Okay, the cola bottles, that's a sneaky one, Jolly Ranch,
Swedish berries. Did Woppers not make it?
That's not chocolate. This is just handy. That may come down the road. But a lot of focus
on the 5-12 in a lot of sports where they do a bracket. That's your prime for kind of
upset. We've got Skittles at 5 and the Twizzlers sitting at 12. We've been putting
some profiles together. It feels like you've got kind of, Skittles is very
popular, multi-colored.
The Twizzlers might be a bit of a...
There's flavored Twizzlers now.
So my son loves the orange cream ones.
Wow.
Yeah.
And there's pink lemonade ones.
They're stuffed Twizzlers.
So they might make a comeback.
But as this is, I still can't believe you don't have the fun dip.
I know.
I don't even know if you can buy that now.
So my dad used to have this saying, he didn't swear that much, but he would call people a dipstick.
And all I remember, yeah.
I use that saying all the time with my son.
I'm like, don't be a dipstick.
And that's where it came from was we used to love those dips.
Like if you could eat whatever that was,
it was a candy that dipped into it.
I can't believe.
Supposedly it was candy.
It was a stick of some sort.
Yeah.
And then you'd swirl it in the powder.
Yes.
And then you would eat it.
And you would have the sugar high.
Yeah.
So for the sake, for the purposes of this,
we just had to go with the straight, classic twizzling.
because we didn't want to get too far away.
This is what Skittles is up against as we look at the Twizzlers.
I think Twizzlers is universal, though.
People, here's why I think that Skittles.
Here we go.
What are we doing?
Twizzlers.
There's no way to be sure,
but I bet your great grandmother loved Twizzlers.
Yeah, back in the days of silent film,
I'm guessing you'd hear plenty of Twizzler bags.
being ripped open to dig into those red twisty strands of delicious licorish. Old Gertrude,
she probably still had some Twizzler chunks in her teeth as she was getting railed in the back
of a studebaker after a sock hop. Make no mistake. Twizzlers are a classic and a bona fide
dark horse in the candy bracket. But we are skeptical as to how many 90-year-olds are going to be
voting. Are the Twisler's best days behind them? Can you pick out that unmistakable strawberry scent
over the old man's smell.
Good luck, Twizzlers.
That's a hit piece.
Yeah, we're maybe swaying the voting public a little bit,
but the general consensus seems to be if you're not at a movie,
when are you ever eating Twizzlers?
And I don't know.
I'm not a Twizzler guy.
I don't mind them, but it's one of the rare things.
It's a guy like me, hey, you want a Twizzler?
I'm probably like, I'm good.
Where was Gertrude getting railed, by the way?
In the back of the studio.
The back of the car.
It's a studio maker.
Was it a stewed-a-baker?
It was a hit-piece, though.
Buick sounded funnier, but it didn't.
Queens at the end, like dancing it up.
Like visually, you just made that look worse.
That's the thing.
You're like, Twizzlers are for old people, and that's it.
But I'm telling you, you have a guy, say your friends, come over to the house.
You open a bag of Twizzlers, you offer one.
Nobody turns it down, ever.
You peel one off, they eat it.
there's times where people chew off the ends,
they drink it out of the, you know,
they use it as a straw, they use it.
To me, I think to Twizzlers, it's a sneaky,
like I don't think you're giving enough respect.
The public will have their say.
Next week when we have Yon,
we'll be down to the elite eight, I guess.
We haven't really, it's the sweet 16,
but we'll be down to eight by next week.
This is, that is the best thing I've seen today.
There you go.
Appreciate your noodles.
All right, guys.
Thanks for having me.
There you go.
Fun dip.
Did you ever have fun dip, Pinder?
Oh, yeah.
Even my kids have had fun dip.
It's just literally powdered colored sugar.
Yeah, it's really.
And then they've got this stick that's not really that good,
but you're just licking it and it's covered with sugar the rest of the way.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's right.
Oddly enough, crystal water is plumbing and heating,
the insider hotline and also part of the candy bracket.
So how about that?
They know what they're doing, apparently, these guys.
Ensure that your home is always safe.
You just, you leave things a little bit too long and then, oh, now there's the hot water heater explodes or something happens with the furnace or the AC.
There's a solution for all budgets, including financing, affordable payment plans, 403, 219, 4100 or check them out at crystal clear, calgary.com.
And for the bracket, of course, in there as well, handsome Dan, handsome Dan's vacation rentals, all sorts of different cottage options.
private saunas, oceanfront, lakefront, private hot tub,
specializing in vacation rentals on Vancouver Island website,
handsomedans.ca,
and you're going to save up to 15% going direct through handsome bands
as opposed to using one of the, you know, those other guys.
Why would you do it?
There you go.
Park Renfrew, Mount Washington, Vancouver Island vacation rentals.
You got to get out there, Dino.
I do.
I do.
I do.
I do.
Look at that.
Yeah, I mean, I'm not sure what else.
You can get, you can, you can apparently fly right to Victoria.
That's what they say.
That is true.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You can get them an airplane and get right to Victoria.
Weird.
Handsomdans.ca.
To find your next favorite vacation spot today.
And while we're on the topic, even Hansom Dan, he was in the chat.
Really?
Remember how we used to bemoan the lack of identity this team had.
No longer they work hard and beat teams that aren't.
That's about it.
Well, yeah.
it does
I mean it's the point
that's accurate that's very correct
without goal tending
it's uh as kim said here
I agree with pinder show me a good goalie I'll show you a great coach
the flip side for sure can be both if you don't have
goaltending your coaching prowess is definitely
called into question but um
well and look the the last year of Sutter
who I think you know is a hall of fame coach
and did some great work here but was clearly one of his
worst years coaching the league. They had no identity.
You wouldn't hand out the letter
C and the room turned
into factions. Nobody liked
coming to work. They didn't outwork teams.
They left you wanting more on the effort level.
That's totally gone under Huska.
To the point where you made earlier where
when they don't all show up and work hard like
in Toronto, you're like, whoa.
It was woe if they showed up on time
and gave you 60 minutes under Darrell that last year.
It was a bad year.
Whoa. Whoa.
I was like,
I was like wool.
Was that the shirt?
Boom at his shirt off.
I was like,
Whoa.
Marty,
come check this out.
Come check this out.
That's right.
You know,
we've got a lot to get to.
We've got to pin our part coming here.
I've got to tell you about a lot of things.
I'm going to tell you about to these Wednesday already.
Jack is apparently not feeling well.
Jack is awful.
Jack, are you okay? What's going on?
I feel like every time I leave my house, I just get sick.
Yeah.
I feel like I was just sick.
Yeah.
What's going on?
Well, you're around Pinder a fair bit, right?
So here's the thing.
He was begging me to come out like Friday or Saturday night at midnight.
Come on out.
I'll get you through the line.
We're buddies here.
Come on, pender.
He's texting me.
He's texting me.
He's calling me.
I'm like on the couch watching a show with my wife.
I'm like, I can't do it tonight.
I don't like saying no to doing things.
I can't.
And then he's sick this week.
Well, it's probably your kid last week.
Yeah.
Or it's another five day hangover.
He can't do this.
Anytime he parties, he's sick.
Is there some truth to that, Jack?
There's a lot of truth to that.
Okay.
Yeah.
How's your pelvic floor, though?
I don't know.
You could probably use some work.
Like, I'm not going to, I don't need to know a whole lot more than that.
I just wonder if that's contributing to maybe
why you're not, you're quite yourself. Maybe you need some mod medical clinic in your life.
Have you been to be aroused.ca? Have you looked around to see? Because maybe it's time, if not.
Guys, let's talk about something that doesn't get enough attention. It is pelvic floor health.
And I think we've been talking about for probably over a year now because of the mod medical clinic.
And now you're seeing it pop up. Oh, there's TV at or different other things. Yeah, this is what it's
about. It's not necessarily is a women's issue. Man, deal with this. Your pelvic floor plays a huge
and everything in from bladder control to sexual function.
Here's the thing.
Strong pelvic floor can mean better performance, better stamina, boost in your confidence.
If you're waking up at night to go pee, it's not just an annoying habit, it's a sign that something is off.
The good news is it can be fixed with a completely non-invasive approach using Mcella therapy.
That's where the crew at Beraos.ca come in.
They're about helping guys, take care of, just take charge of their life in so many ways.
your pelvic and sexual health, science-backed treatments,
no gimmicks, no awkward conversations,
just let's be real about it, let's be adults, you know?
Get rid of that taboo.
So if you've noticed some changes in your performance,
maybe your bladder habits,
or you just want to be better, be a better man.
Check them out.
It's time we talk openly about this type of stuff.
Taking care of yourself is never embarrassing.
Head to be aroused.ca and see what they're all about.
M. Sella.
better man,
be a better man,
Jeremy,
oh, we.
Jeremy's Morgan.
Oh,
especially with summer coming.
Hey.
Yeah.
You want to be walking around
being at the beach
with your flabby pelvic floor
flopping around.
No, sir.
You want to be nice tight.
Tighten that bag of around.
Be aroused don't see a.
Be around.
Don't see.
I'm love.
looking at this last six games for the flames,
like in terms of like handsome Dan talks about their identity.
Two, two and two.
Yeah.
Some good teams in there.
You know,
you got Dallas, Montreal, Vancouver, Colorado, Toronto, New York.
All those teams are in a playoff spot or vying for one.
They haven't scored more than three in any of those games.
They've scored more than two once the shootout lost to Vancouver.
They're averaging two goals a game.
And they're two two and two.
Like that's wild.
two in Dallas in an overtime loss.
One against Montreal at home, they actually win that game.
Three against Vancouver, they blow a third period lead,
lose that in a shootout.
Two in Colorado lost, two in Toronto lost, two in New York win.
I don't know how you're doing it.
Like you're literally throwing two goals a game hanging around 500.
It's kind of the flip side to the moaning.
If you'd listen to yesterday,
as how you're never going to get a superstar and how are you ever going to be,
this would be the flip to it,
that maybe you have a superstar in net,
and you're just not really looking at it that way.
You have a high, potentially a first overall guy in terms of how he can impact the game for you.
You've got that in the net.
Now, do you need, does everybody need to score 50?
Be a lot of fun to watch, but you don't.
So how do you build it?
Can you be a couple goals better here and there in a week?
It's going to get you more wins.
And if it's three or four more a month, you start putting that together, you're near the top.
It's how it's going to have to be.
because they're not going to bottom out and get a...
Yeah, and look, the guys that go out and score a ton of for agency,
they're extremely expensive and they're going to be coveted incredibly by contenders.
Like if Mitch Marner hits the market, boy, you'd be a great fit here.
He'd really fix that offensive issue.
Not coming here.
There's a lot of really, really good teams that will covet him.
Maybe with all this cap space, they actually do what you're talking about,
which is lean into what your strength is.
Go get another Kevin Ball type.
get a left shot shut down top four guy.
It's clearly the identity of club.
It's structure, hard work and goaltending.
It doesn't have to be sexy.
Sexy's fun, right?
But it's just not going to be.
So yeah, that's why when we talked about Kevin Ball,
yeah, I think you do, you do keep him.
And then you try and add and have some,
he's already in the fold.
Get another ball.
Get more of those guys.
It looks like you've got some puck movers.
Boy, I've been, I've been so impressed.
with Weiger.
He's, you know, I think Anderson's been a little up and down.
Weiger has played so much hockey.
Yeah.
He's on the power play.
He's all over the ice.
He's, uh, he had the comments after the game in Toronto.
But, you know, I got to be better.
We got to be better.
And I thought in a lot of ways, even though he was on for that first goal against,
I thought he led the way again last night.
A couple of assists.
Chris is, uh, what he ended up playing last night?
A lot?
you're 2345.
Yeah.
Anderson was 2449 to lead the way.
Yeah. So yeah.
Look, I think when Backland's done, that's your captain.
I know we like a lot of things about Rasmus,
but when you talk about leadership,
you're seeing more out of it in Uighur on and off the ice in my opinion.
Not that Rasmus couldn't be in a different world,
but like he's the line of the media after an awful loss in Toronto saying
lots of thumbs, not just fingers, not just fingers,
these guys, me, I'll be better.
And then blows a tire in his first shift
and sets up the next two goals.
He's an excellent player.
And aside from a three-month stretch when he got here
when everything was out of sorts and he was adjusting
from Quenville hockey to
Sutter hockey, he's been excellent here.
Yeah. No question
about it.
Our buddy,
I don't know if he wants to.
Our buddy Greg at Bontan.
He likes to check in during
the course of the game.
or the Sam Bennett games on other channels.
Yeah, if Sam Bennett's scoring somewhere, he's checking in.
Was not a fan of the Marty Pospisal play last night, the, the interference call.
Okay.
And I'm just, I'm just bringing it up and we'll mention Bontan, but I did have it written down about Pospisal.
It's not, it's not Sharon Govich-esque, but it's, I don't know what he is this year.
He was so easy to find, just felt like every game he was in the mix and he was,
was doing he's playing higher it feels like in the lineup well they put him with cadre and zeri so
they put that line back together from last fall when we first got to lay eyes on him and he was
shot out of a cannon for two months yeah he's also had like three to five chats with department
of player safety at this point too yeah i don't think that's easy to just hand wave away like
he plays his entire game on the edge and he's crossed the line a few times and at his wrist
slapped
because Zeri went to the fourth line when he came back from the injury.
I don't know what you need to do.
Because I would like to see a little that pospousal back the ship disturb.
Eight hits last night.
I liked that line back together.
Yeah.
I mean, maybe it's starting.
I might be it that wakes him up because I really haven't liked him with
Charingovic at all in the third line with Farabee for a bit.
That was gross.
But Zeri was good last night.
Caudry has been really steady and consistent all year.
and if he can just go be that set of shoulders on that line,
that's great, that'll work.
Yeah.
And the other thing that happened last night was the Hubert O Frost
tandem went off.
You're like, oh shit, with Coronado, like, that's a line.
That might work.
Like, that was Frost's best night of the office for me outside of Philly.
So if you want to go by Bontan today and talk with Greg about pospousal,
you can do that.
Because what was great as he sent the text.
You know, just this guy.
I mean, this just this guy.
And then gets out of the penalty box.
I don't know how he didn't score because just Sark had even got a dove at him and he still got the puck up.
I was like that text.
I haven't had been having to fire that one back.
So I, you know, maybe you go to Bonton, maybe you grab one of those big, what are they, free range chickens.
How happy are those chickens, hey?
Just kind of doing some of this.
You think that's what it is, just kind of chickens just walking around.
I'll just do some exploring today here on the free range, not like those cooped up, those poor bad.
They got them all cages and stuff.
Locally raised free range.
Just even keel.
No stress.
Stress free chickens.
That's what you get at Bontan.
Fresh Alberta lamb.
I don't know about their mentality.
I'm not sure.
AAA Alberta beef is what you need to know.
AAA Alberta beef.
And we're getting into beef season.
This is grilling season.
It's time, man.
I got some ideas for.
for Bonton.
Good.
Because we've been talking a lot.
We want to do something where we get some of the, it's kind of like with McLeod Law.
Now you get out of the house.
It's a little warmer.
Maybe litigation season.
Also grilling season.
Maybe we need to get together and have a little thing, you know.
I'm definitely with you on the, the grilling season part.
You kind of lost me on litigation season.
Well, you know, I just did earlier the show talk about.
Anyway, over, they got the salads.
We had their gravy.
It's awesome.
The bone broth.
28 Crowfoot Circle Northwest,
Bon Ton meat market,
24 consecutive years,
Southern Alberta's consumers,
choice award winner for best meat and deli.
That's a lot of winning.
It's a lot of winning.
It's like that Red Wings quarter century
making the playoffs,
that's incredible stuff.
Never will be touched again.
I don't want to,
it feels like,
like I'd be giving some of it away.
But do you enjoy,
do you enjoy a good baloney sandwich?
Bologna sandwich.
Have you,
takes me back to my youth.
Was it?
Oh, yeah.
You get some good yellow mustard on there.
Mm-hmm.
Maybe a darker bread.
Yeah.
Pumpernickel even, that'd be real good.
Jack, what about you?
Is, uh,
baloney in your,
in your life?
We talked about this last year and I hadn't tried baloney and I still haven't.
What?
Yeah.
See, here's the thing.
I feel like it's the forgotten,
it's the forgotten deli meat.
Definitely.
We've gotten all so we've gotten. Oh, look, we're doing this thing in store with the, the smoked in the oven roast, this and that.
A little baloney.
Bologna was there when you were young, when you were an up and comer.
Some of you didn't.
So I think you've either forgotten it.
You've forgotten how great it is, a fried, like fried bologna, bologna on fresh bread with some mustard.
Or maybe you've never had it.
It's time to bring.
it's time to bring baloney back
baloney's back
so that's what I've been working on
okay
is this tied into red street party
that he won't do any work for this is different
this actually uh yeah i'm actually doing some legwork
on okay well it's very different just we should do something now
that's half big that he is yeah i'm not sure i'm not sure how i think
Greg's on board but um
well it involves meat so he's obviously yeah
never had baloney jazz
ever. Well, maybe when I was little, like my parents force fed me, but I've never, I've never gone in the store and bought baloney.
We got some baloney comments in the chat. I think we need to hear people's takes on this to get Jack up to speed.
They're calling it a noofy steak. I mean, it's not fancy, but it is good. But I think that, you know what? It's kind of, it's got that wrap. What's so different? You could buy bologona, you could buy ham.
Yeah. Honey ham. You could get ham sliced to, you could get, you could get.
Corn beef.
It's so why is bologna getting such a such a bad rap?
Look at here.
Tara fried bologna sandwiches like Gito used to make.
See, that's what I'm talking about.
Oh, yeah.
Someone's saying he's still taking them to work sandwiches.
I would take,
I would take bologna.
I would take bologna.
I would take bologna in the round.
Yeah.
And kind of I'd slice it.
Think like a Chicago style pizza into a bowl,
vinegar
cucumbers
bologna salad
yeah a little bologna salad
with some vinegar and some salt
I'm starving
yeah I'm not sure if bontan is serving
baloney salads up there good question
maybe I can love answers though
maybe
uh hey it's Wednesday
so we got another week of uh NHL games coming
for our safe way
my NHL picks I felt really good last week
I got involved I got
my, I got the Safeway app.
I have my seeing account, so I kind of
did some of this. Lanked it all
together, my NHL picks. And here's
what it is. It's the contest is going, if you haven't done
it already, it's free, you may as well, why
wouldn't you get in on it? Get the Safeway app.
You could win a trip for four to a
2025 NHL season opener of your choice.
Every Thursday,
a new slate of games. They go from, it's one week at a time,
starts Thursday, goes around to
the next Wednesday, ends
Thursday. Thursday.
So today is Wednesday.
So this is the end of the week.
Last chance.
You can get in for tonight.
Last chance to dance.
Provided there's five games tonight, I guess.
Two.
Anyway, be ready to go tomorrow, but here's how it's looking.
You got in and I got in.
Felt really good about it.
I got islandered on Sunday.
The Panthers lost of the Islanders four to two.
And the oilers soiled themselves.
Or the Buffalo got you.
Geez.
Buffalo beat Vegas.
somehow there.
But three for five, I'm going to take it.
Good start. I'm going to take it. And that's why you
start on the Thursday, because you get the whole week of
games. It's just like 60 games to pick from.
It feels like it's a lot easier. So I was
okay, three for five. Look at this guy.
I was rolling. I'm stuck to Stinking Philly.
Somehow beat Tampa last Thursday. My first
game picked. Everything. That was great.
Seems easy, right?
Four for five. Let's go. Maybe it is.
You can find some heavy favorites. And look at this.
I got a, uh,
A four-week streak.
They love that.
14 correct picks.
Yeah, six more correct picks.
I could win some scene points.
That's a lot of scene points.
That's the other thing about it.
Yeah, you can win the grand prize of a trip to the season opener of your choice for 2025.
You could win scene points, bonus entries, grocery offers.
Every correct pick gets you an entry into the grand prize draw.
It's free.
Download the Safeway app.
Start playing today for your chance to win.
Tomorrow another five pack.
I like that trip or four.
That's a good number.
You get a lot of trips for two.
Yeah.
Like I got these these weasels,
these nine-year-olds.
What do I do with them if I go?
Like, let's go take a whole family.
Thank you, Safeway.
Yeah.
I was for you, for sure,
I was thinking another way.
I was thinking,
yeah, there's that too.
If it's two,
then you're probably going to have to take, you know.
But if it's four,
it's, well, I mean, babe,
it's for four,
some buddies,
we were going to go and,
you know.
My four roommates from El Rancho Grande.
Let's be going to go.
Yeah, unless she does the math and be like, well, there's two of us and two kids.
So that's four, right?
Don't like that, man.
Good kids would like it, though.
Yeah.
Yeah, they would.
Let's do the Pinda report presentation of Village Honda.
The $1 million buying is back.
That's back.
I was going to try and get that it's not, get that drop.
Brack to back.
It's too quick in the quiz.
I'm very disappointed.
Very sad.
There'd be a lot of them, but yeah, you'd have to be really.
It's kind of neat.
It's kind of so well.
Tiger's back.

The Pindor.
Thank you.
Boom.
Let's go back to Broadway last night
where Pike was in attendance
for what a treat it was.
The Flames back to business.
Controlling play against the Rangers.
Lots of articles on Flamesnation.com regarding that.
Also, a few tidbits on
Idar Sunnev of UMass
and Arsini Surgiv.
When are they going to potentially get signed
and come to the big club?
Lots up there, as always,
Flames Nation.
dot CA.
Now, we had noted that it might have been an easier night for Dan Vlodar
and people in the comments, of course,
because I can't listen to the show for them while I'm doing the show
or suggesting I'm taking runs at Vlodar.
Right.
Here's a Vancouver-based reporter who just happened to be catching some Rangers
before the Jets, Canucks got going.
The Rangers performance tonight might be one of the worst games
I've seen a team play all season.
Unbelievable how disorganized there as a team,
how many egregious turnovers they commit,
and odd man rushes they can see.
This is not to take anything away from the Calgary Flames.
You can only control their work ethic,
and it was great last night.
The Rangers were absolute dogs last night.
They were awful.
In fact, you know, the...
Danvlar himself noted that it wasn't necessarily the...
Probably the easiest game is a flame.
That's from West Gilbertson.
Damn.
Probably my easiest game as a flame.
What about that first shot, though?
The first shot of the game.
How was so that?
Shush, dude.
Yeah, after that, he just sort of settled right in.
Also, tough night for J.T. Miller.
I don't know if he and Kevin Ball are going to be nut buddies.
Jim, Timothy, and no nut buddies?
There was a little bit of bag tag going on here.
There's Kevin Ball saying, you're it.
Cup check.
when the broadcast got to this,
it looked like he might have got slashed on the wrist or something
in the way that he went down.
But that is just a straight family jewel shot right there, Dean.
And it's a weird one because it seems kind of innocent.
You're not up there, J.T.
But I feel like Miller's not a guy that's going to,
like he's not going to do that.
Maybe JT stands for just the tip, Dean.
We don't know how these things work.
Keep moving.
Rough night for the ref.
I don't know if you saw this large human collision.
Adam Klapka 68 running into Matt Rempay, 69 or Remke.
Some people were called.
There's a rough.
Oh, dear.
Oh, dear.
Sit there.
Oh, you can't do that.
Get out of here, you.
Flames, I told you about their last six games.
Once they've got more than two goals, they are somehow miraculously 500 over that stretch.
More stats on the, when we get.
three or less.
Flames have 21 wins.
Can you just kind of tell us what the,
what's the, what's the, what's the,
what's the, what's the, what's the calls notes of this?
It's a lot of numbers. It's a lot to take in.
Most wins in a season when scoring three or less in flames history.
30, 25, 24, 23, 21 this year.
It is already a top five performance with a month to go in the season on the number of wins.
when scoring three or less.
Now, keep in mind, 0304, that was incredibly low scoring year.
I mean, we're talking like peak dead puck error.
You could win with three pretty regularly.
This team continues to win, continues to win, despite, you know,
not getting to four goals almost ever.
It's what?
Yeah, it's admirable.
It is.
We understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Yeah.
Like, I'm just looking how many bloody wins do they even have on the year?
31.
And so regulation even to be even less than, like, God, it's miraculous.
They're hanging around.
Last place in the league and goals for and fighting for a playoff spot.
Love to see it, I guess.
Here's the thing, though, about the flames.
Not everyone is clicking.
Bad news about our Igor.
Our Igor?
Our Igor? Our Igor.
Are you familiar with our Igor?
Scoring chances at 5 on 5.
3314 for the flame.
So last night against the Rangers,
add even strength,
almost a 3 to 1 ratio on scoring chances favoring the flames.
Like wallop them in scoring chances.
With our Igor on the ice,
flames out chance 7-0.
I can't make this shit up.
It's not been a good run.
Oh.
Yeah.
maybe he needs to play his old team,
a little spark.
Maybe he'll be better against the devil.
Maybe you need to shut him down
and just give him a little summertime here.
That deal hasn't kicked in yet.
Christ.
Yeah.
I don't know that it can get worse,
but then I saw this stat and I'm like,
that's worse than I thought it was.
And it's like truthfully,
what do you sit him and bring in somebody else?
Is he hurt?
I don't know what you,
I honestly don't know what you do.
And I don't know.
I am how much that.
injury in the fall is a part of this or not?
Because if it isn't, boy, that's
some heavy excuse making.
And if it's like, yeah, he never was right after that.
Well, then just shut him down.
He's useless right now.
Like, Rory Karens could come in and fill his minutes.
I want the best for you, Igor.
I do too.
Are you, Igor?
We need him to have a good offseason here.
Have an off season, son.
So look at the standings.
We'll start out west.
Calgary Flames get a win.
St. Luz! Blas!
Get a win.
Vancouver Canucks, shockingly,
against the West leading jets get a win.
So now the cutoff is 75 points.
Calgary has a game in hand on Vancouver,
two points back.
Blues are 10, 2 and 2 in their last 14.
St. Lou?
Foof.
What is going on with the blues?
Very good under Jim Montgomery.
And now that we're hearing today this morning,
Colum Pareko ain't going to need the full six weeks
that the original timeline in stadium.
He should, though, he should, Colton rest up.
I would not rush back.
Don't be hasty in your decision making it comes to your health.
I think he'll be hustling back to help this team get in.
Now, the playoff odds in the West, this is per sport logic.
I know Sportsnet uses the sport logic stuff a lot.
They like the blues a ton with the easy schedule and the hot play of late.
They kind of have the Canucks and flames and a bit of a coin toss, Utah.
Wet fart, man, just hanging around, but don't think it's happening.
My goodness.
So that's, well, sport logic.
Don't worry, we've got some more odds, too.
Let's go to the East though first.
East standings, man, there's a good playoff chase too.
Look at the bottom, all these teams involved.
Ottawa 77 points is wildcard one.
Habs are into a playoff spot.
Have two games in hand on the Rangers and a point on them.
Islanders, they're doing the Utah thing.
They're hanging around like a bad fart as well.
Columbus has been a great story.
They've got to get her going.
wings haven't hosted or been in the playoffs in ages,
that would be fun,
but they're also way back.
And I think we could probably take the Bruins out back
and give them the old off to doggie heaven routine.
Yeah.
Feels like there's a full-on effort there to not win games.
Unlike the penguins,
who Jack have taken themselves out of a top five pick here
with their recent run.
They did find a way to,
I mean,
they did screw that one up last night.
Yeah.
I think he just hates Jari right now.
When you needed him, he was bad.
Now when you don't need him, he's just on fire.
Tough spot there.
Okay, East Odd Sport Logic, what are they saying?
Come on Sport Logic.
So smart.
Oh, Habs.
Wow.
Okay.
I feel like these could swing with a game or two.
These can really...
Oh, yeah.
If in one night, one team gets two points out of it gets zero,
that changes all the math for sure.
So this is just spawning based on sports logic,
sport logic.
And for just comparison's sake,
The athletic runs their model as well every single night, 20,000 times and spits out probabilities.
Their odds for East and West, kind of similar.
Pull those up, Jackie.
You love this stuff.
I don't know, man.
We talk about gambling on the show.
These are the models that are the best public available.
These are the people that are best at projecting the sport.
They love Vancouver, the athletic more than the blues.
That's a big gap between sports.
That's a big swing.
because different models.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
No, there's no crystal ball that knows.
It's just certain.
Yeah, right?
Interesting.
Flames and.
Almost makes you wonder how much stock you should put into them.
Well, I mean, if you look into it,
these models are measured year over year against results.
And you can go see the most successful models year over year based on their log error and such,
nerd stuff.
But it's all there.
But it does make you clear, like a little bit of,
question. It's like, well, I mean, if we, if you found your five greatest
occupants on earth, you'd probably have very different picks for who'd get in in each
conference. I don't think it's different than that, right? Maybe. But this is all about math,
though. This is, right, but everyone's math is taking data and not taking opinion into effect.
It's just numbers and just like everyone's just taking an eye test when they're making
their predictions. That's not what this is. So I'm just wondering why it would be so different
when everyone has all the same numbers. They're very different models. Yeah. So anyway,
it's interesting. I like this stuff.
It bends your brain, apparently.
Well, I just don't, I don't, it's, it's, yeah.
How does this make sense is what you're asking?
No, I just don't know.
I don't know.
Does it, so does, does,
Vancouver, 55%?
26 over here. Yeah.
I don't get it either, Dean.
What do you mean they're very different models?
So they don't have like, a little man in a closet that sees the future.
See, you always do this.
You get demeaning and degrading.
about it when we ask what we ask a question so what is what is it about well it's not some fat guy sitting
on a couch with potato chips it's math well so i would say some models would be built up on based on
uh roster composition of individual players so you'd have a grade or a score for each player and add
those up and then the total of that team when you play out their schedule and 20 000 simulations
it does x other models would say here's how the team performs we're not looking at individuals i mean
there's a million different ways to do it.
But my whole point is that people building,
building these models for decades,
and you can track which ones are most accurate over time.
None of them are perfect.
I think that's one of the biggest complaints people have is like,
when,
when analytics has a miss,
it's like, well, yeah, nothing's perfect here.
But it's just we're trying to use information and data
in different ways to see if we can learn more.
So of course,
different models that have different inputs are going to spit out different results.
They're not way off, but yeah, they're totally different looks.
I mean, Money Puck always has been really friendly on the flames probabilities this year
versus the athletics been very low on the flames this year.
They're measuring different data.
Anyway, it's huge, massive formulas that I don't understand,
but I know that it doesn't mean they're useless,
just like you could go to one GM and he really likes the Canucks to get in.
The other's like, no, it's the blues right now.
It doesn't strip one of validation if it's incorrect, right?
sure we'll move because that was fun uh the mucky middle need an update on that flames tell three points out of
this god that would have been a good night for the rangers to show up last night just thirkin did his part
dean imagine me in one point out of a top ten pick right now the rangers also did their part
oh one of their players showed up to work he was the goalie and it's not like this is
we're well into this season this is between
67 and 69 games played.
To be that, to be basically in,
but so close to bottom 10,
which again,
bottom 10 is not,
it's not a good season.
It's a horrible season for,
right?
So are you having a good year or an awful one?
Yes.
And again,
if you look,
that little pocket of six teams
above the red line,
that in,
friends,
is peak sadness. That is, give your first rounder to Montreal
in a horrible trade. It will at that point be horrible.
And also miss the playoffs and playoff revenue and the fun of having
parties in the spring and all that stuff.
Peak pain. Don't do it.
Talk to us what next week?
Clarity.
70 games. 70 game mark will know.
I'm sure by Christmas.
By the trade deadline. Well, certainly now on the six game road.
Well, now, once they get back, stay tuned.
No clarity yet.
still waiting on clarity.
Results last night.
Here's the slate.
We told you about a lot of these playoff bubble teams.
Big win for Montreal.
Islanders somehow staying alive after being sellers at the deadline.
Blues big win to keep in wildcard mix.
Canucks huge win over Winnipeg.
Calgary gets a road win, as we've talked about a ton.
Washington continues their assault on the east and the overall standings.
They're top in the NHL.
Crazy.
No OVie goal.
There. Oilers yard, Utah feels like end days for them. And Dallas ekes one out in O.T.
Over the Ducks. Lots there. Let's get a little closer. The Vancouver win was a huge one.
Our buddy Pete Blackburn might have said it best here. This year's Canucks team is like the
unhealthiest person you know living to be a hundred years old. It's been such a cluster bleep of a year.
and yet they're actually playing pretty good hockey right now.
Pedersen looks great.
It is kind of a Rick Tocket, low-scoring,
defense physicality and goaltending right now.
They handed it to the Jets last night.
It was a weird one.
The Jets had six,
they had two on eight shots in the second period.
They just were,
it was a weird one.
I don't know how,
because they put up three late.
Like I don't know how,
good they were, to be quite honest, because I watched a chunk of it.
Besser gets two. That ends a 12-game drought.
Three-pointer for him. So, yeah. And I also think that one team is,
one team needs wins and the other one is kind of waiting for 82 games to,
to come and go. But yeah, they got, they got, what, five on, on Hellebuck,
which does not have a rare event. No question.
The other thing with the Canucks, two weeks ago,
Pedersen was completely a movable object, right?
Yeah.
All of a sudden, eight points in his last eight,
shooting the puck.
He couldn't get two shots in a game for over a month at one point.
And meanwhile, J.T. Miller's cooled off.
This is just a very good reminder of just because things are a certain way at one time,
doesn't mean they won't be totally different from a month later.
That's right.
Man, could you have got Pedersen?
There's your young center for the next.
Are we not there yet?
Well, I think you could still get them probably.
I wonder now that he's looked like
Elias Pedersen since that Wednesday last week against the flames.
One week, I know.
Yeah, I would think if I'm Vancouver,
I'd be thinking, do you think anyone has paid close attention to last week?
And now we can get him out of here.
It's still 11 plus million forever.
But looking good last week.
We'll see what the future holds where we're at on this one.
Fun trade.
Okay.
Next, let's check in on Dylan Cousins,
who's been in Ottawa.
Oh, no.
Oh, my God.
Scoring chances, leading the senators.
Slot shots on net, leading the senators.
Hits, leading the senators.
Face off wins, leading the senators.
Number two and controlled entries, which is nice.
It means you have the puck in the other teams end.
That's a good thing.
Cousins has been very good.
So good, you wonder why a team like Buffalo would ever let him go.
And add a second round pick, you.
Yeah.
Yeah. See, these are the number and sport logic there again.
Hard to argue these numbers.
This is this is what the guy has done.
Man.
Oh, I know it couldn't have.
I got to let it go.
I got to let it go.
It wasn't going to happen here.
I know it wasn't.
You just knew the neighbors of the loser,
lose a trade to somebody.
Got to let it go.
Happy for Ottawa.
He's a beast.
Get that new rink built there.
beat the Leafs just uh right they got a new rink in the way they're getting there yeah they're not
like where where the flames are at but yeah they're uh they're they're still doing the political
posturing game yeah yeah i get yeah i get it'll like the new owner's going to find a way there all right
yes he's trying to do what all the owners do which is how do i pay the least and get the government
to pay the most so he's still figuring that part out but he'll they'll get the rink done
it's a great hockey market and people have been driving to the freaking beyond the suburbs
to watch a shitty team for a dick and they're ready.
Okay, other information, how about to Connor McDavid?
He's good at hockey.
He now has three point games against 32 franchises, which you think that's impossible, right?
Because he's never played against the Oilers.
Well, he gets credit for a three point game against the Yotes and another against the Utah,
likely to be called mammoth.
Yeah.
That's pretty good.
Sid, where you at, buddy?
Nate, come on.
Ovi, Patty Kane, Cooch.
None of these guys has done it.
Okay.
Well, congrats, Connor.
That's what, con.
A big one over the Utah.
They were flying last night.
Speaking of Utah.
Maybe he can make that 33 teams somewhere soon down the road.
If you catch my drift.
I'm catching it.
Get a nice
three-point game.
Houston.
Get traded, play Edmonton.
That'd be great.
Something.
Yeah.
I'd be even better.
Yeah, I was thinking of Spanish.
That's kind of what I was going out.
I don't care where it happens for them.
Toronto,
you go to L.A., go to Chicago.
I'll get a shit.
Wherever you like.
Yeah.
It's right.
Please, for the love of God.
Let this lottery nightmare the last decade end.
Okay.
Utah's got a name.
It looks like the people that are smart and know how to do.
Hang on.
It's cold.
Bagley. It's cold bagley.
There he is.
Yeah. Another baggie.
I know hockey. I'm in Utah
and it's new here, but I've always
known hockey. Look at me in a suit
with my hockey gloves and stick.
Yes.
My vapor, my vapor gloves.
That's right.
As of what's this?
The mammoth trademark was extended
by the same company responsible for
all the previous Utah nicknames that, you know, you obviously, if you're looking at six
names, you trademark them all, try to get, make sure no one else steals them from you.
Yeah.
Meanwhile, the outlaws Utah hockey club not extended.
So if you hate the name Utah hockey club, great news.
Yeah.
I mean, we're reading in a little bit, but it would seem like based on Cole Bagley's
reporting that it's all roads are pointed towards the meeting the Utah mammoth.
How do you not trust?
this guy on all things hockey in Utah.
I'm Cole Bagley. I'm Cole Bagley.
I see in the, uh, in our little thing that we have on the, with the show, uh,
Jack has him labeled as being a legend. Oh, yeah.
But has spelled, but has spelled legend L-E-G-N-E-D.
Legn-N-E-D. He's a Leg-N-N-N-D. He's a Leg-N-N-D.
Cole Bagley here, Utah Leg-Legnet.
Now, how do you feel about that?
Are you happy with...
I like mammoth.
I think it's fine.
You could have some fun with that.
Yeah.
I would have been outlaws.
Outlaws, Yeti, mammoth, whatever.
I just didn't love the outlaws.
Yeti would have been fun, but the cooler company we love said, you know what?
We like our little turf here.
The thing about outlaws is there's not many, I don't know, is there another, you'd kind of have that to yourself.
There's the Colorado mammoth.
lacrosse team i'm not sure they're worried about them but yeah you're right the mammut the mammoth
a mammoth abbey bags well hey good luck to uh the utahs if you're getting ready with get rid of the hockey club
that was my gripe be whatever you want just don't be that and all uh all shush yeah now just
start working on those 5,000 seats i can only see one net in that rink okay uh let's go to the slate of games
tonight. Okay, just a pair.
It is a double header on TNT.
So you will see Matthews
and McKinnon as the early game
followed by whoever the hell plays
to the Crackin and
injured Kareil Kaprizov
and the wild.
I'll probably watch the early one and then
tap out. Yeah.
Not sure Minnesota, Seattle's going to get a lot of my
time tonight. Doesn't feel like
an auto banger. It might have to
surprise us there more on our
bet 365 bets later
there it is you'll see it
done there's the double header in the states
in Canada we get the McKinnon
Matthews a couple of perennial
heart type guys
yeah
yeah yeah
game tonight
sure like the art
that's three graphics
for a two game night
graphics
more
then games more graphics than games that was like jack's buddy at that huge game at the dome a few weeks
ago he said we had more bleeping something on the ice than goals what was it jack what was thrown on
the ice oh they're playing detroit the the more squid on the ice than we're playing goals get more squids
and dolls good to know it's defauser boy so what's tonight what so sorry it's too much i can't go
through okay i'll google it give me a thousand oh god there's a
the schedule got it so tonight yeah still the devil header right but also so i have to stream it on
max if you'd like to okay i know for all our american viewers that's okay but they're so tv but also it's
sports net right yeah well at least now i know at least someone who plays for each team right uh
and the start time in the time zone two time zones away from me got it yeah someone in this time zone
that's hauling a lot of ass is named Gavin McKenna.
I don't know if you're paying attention to the season he's having,
but he's not even draft eligible this year.
Yeah.
And Byron Bader, our good pal, Calgary based,
he does what he calls NHL equivalencies where, depending on your age and what league
you're in and when your birthday is, how your points accumulated compare to all the other
players of the last 30, 40 years.
and he's having the best draft minus one season since Mario bleeping Lemieux,
which safe to say is how it means it's having a good year.
Yeah.
There's been a lot of players that have Torch Jr.,
but to only have Mario ahead of you, wow.
And that's the thing, like you say.
Seven point game on the weekend, you noted on Monday?
He's not eligible to be picked.
Not even yet this year.
He's got a hundred and twenty,
points in 56 games as a 17-year-old is not even eligible to be drafted.
And in fairness, he's not even leading the league in scoring.
Is there another 17-year-old in there?
No.
But yes, it's impressive stuff.
Yeah, and where he plays next year and who gets to draft him, those are fascinating
stories as well.
Boy, if he could just bottom out for a year or two.
Can we put Dustin Wolf on a sabbatical?
Can he go, like, walk through the ancient ruins of Rome?
and do a course abroad as part of his university or something,
just for one year?
Just one year.
Yeah, I'm not sure.
No.
It is Washington Capitals draft pick.
Andrew Cristell is the caps.
We continue to tell you are great at draft and develop.
126 points.
One more.
A few more than McKenna with one more game played.
Jeez.
Good work, Gavin.
Good work, Byron.
The toast of medicine hat.
Let's keep moving.
All right. Also, he's from, I believe, in Northwest Territories, you know?
Yeah.
From one cousins to another, while the senators are loving Dylan cousins,
I wonder if Jack would love her cousins in Pittsburgh.
Because Aaron Rogers said, yeah, I'm in no rush to get this done.
And the Steelers are already pissed.
I was a Cam Hayward's like, look, you don't want to be here, you don't.
Stop screwing around.
you want to be a stealer and get your ass here.
If you don't, stop wasting everyone's time.
You like that?
You like that.
Do you see they're doing the quarterback show again?
He's on it again?
Is he on it again?
Yeah, he's on it again.
Who else is it?
Tim Goff and Mahomes.
Yeah.
Good shows.
Anyways, yeah, I'm sick of this Rogers things.
Like, Cam Hayward's already calling him out on podcast.
He's not even on the team.
You might not ever even be a stealer.
And Jack's already done with it.
It's just too much.
I don't know how you'd.
It's not like the talent is undeniable anymore.
To bring that into your locker room,
I just don't know.
I see, yeah, that the Vikings have basically said,
we're moving on.
We don't know that it's going to be J.J. McCarthy,
but it's not going to be Aaron Rogers.
And we're not trading J.J. McCarthy.
That's the other thing I've said.
They're going to give them the shot.
And what was it?
Cam Hayward was saying,
If he needs to go on these like midnight's trips into caves in the Galapagos,
like we just screw him.
We don't need him.
I think he's just going to retire.
He's going to milk this as long as he can and then retire.
Just for the sake of the Jackometer,
I do hope that he signs with the Steelers.
But I don't know.
That's selfish for the show.
It's really selfish.
It's to the point I would feel terrible for Jack.
I really,
my, my, my adoration of Jack is more than my design.
to watch Jack suffer.
Right.
But once he goes 3 and 0 out of the gate and Jack proclaims them locks with the playoffs and favorites.
It's going to be, we need this.
Cousons would be okay.
James would be great too.
What is it, Mason Rudolph right now?
Who else they got?
Mason and Skyler Thompson.
I saw like Joe Flacco's name coming up.
Oh, yeah.
Yes.
Yes.
All right, let's get some dumb shit, shall we?
What would you do if you found?
a cave with a hibernating bear
dude
crawled into this cave
all of this
bedding material
and look at this bear
sleeping in this cave
she's hibernating
and just put an ear tag
in a collar on her
she's about a 12 year old
black bear
right in this cave
in Utah
what an incredible experience
this is amazing
that guy's insane
you tag the ear
of a hibernating bear
and put a collar on him
Oh, it's a lot of trust.
That's a deep sleep.
Look at the snout.
I mean,
who I'm hot.
Do you tranquilize?
Or do you just trust that she's so groggy?
She's tired girl.
Oh, she's so tired.
Such a big tired girl.
And you know what?
I might have been nervous putting the collar on in the tech.
Let's hang out for another couple minutes to make a video.
Yeah, and start talking.
Yeah.
Maybe get the light on your phone flashing in her eyes.
That's great idea.
What are we doing here?
That's a lot of trust.
I don't know, Jack.
Okay, we got some other dumb stuff.
Walk us through the rest, Jack.
What do we got?
Okay, this is a shot we're going to bring in
for the next Christmas show.
Live fish there, Dean.
Okay.
No?
What, you don't like sushi?
It's just...
That's bad.
All right, we go to the next one.
Fine, Jack.
That's fine by me.
Bloody hell.
You're not it?
You guys, I mean...
Now, we've got video of you on the weekend here.
Yeah.
These are display models, but I don't think you're supposed to do this.
I'm a big DIYer, you know, get to the.
Big P.O.O. guy, too, apparently.
This is very risky.
Spent a lot of time there? You've got to be comfy.
Well, when you go to the furniture store, you want to test out the recliner.
I'm going to lay on the mattress. I get it.
Dude, I don't know if you're supposed to be up there.
Oh, this douse on him.
A comfortable one I have to sit in it.
I think that was the winner anyway.
That was catching you on camera.
And I was like, what is this guy doing?
It's the winner.
The wife said, get a toilet, but I have to sit in it.
I know.
Because not all toilets are the same comfort.
Sometimes you go into a house and you sit in a toilet and you're like, that's a nicer toilet.
That's a nice or this one.
I guess.
Hey, wife told him to.
Yeah.
Yeah, she did.
I think that's probably enough for this fine Wednesday.
Pinner Report brought to you by Village Honda
Your dealership for life
The Northwest Auto Mall
Okay, we got a few things we got to lay out for you
Okay, we've got an event coming up
Oh, we are going to be
We're going to be out once again
Richmond's pub
Get ready
Get the pizza oven warmed up
Get the deep fryer
Rolling
Fill up the fridge
with the barn burner blondes let's go let's go we are going to be headed to richmond's pub march 29th
oh baby next that's like next weekend that is i believe next weekend a b oa calgary versus edmonton
eight o'clock start the place is going to be thumping we're going to be there this is not a uh we're doing
because we're not doing we're just going to we're hanging out we're going to mix and mingle and have
some drinks and have some food and
with any luck
a big two points against
those stinkers to the north. I think
even the most enthusiastic
team tank
that party of Flames fans, that
cross section of the fan base
would say you can win one more this year.
Rather than lose them all, probably
better to lose all, but this one
here in Edmonton, the last of three,
the first two are Sunday nights. We finally get a
Saturday night banger on hockey night in Canada.
can't confirm or can't guarantee that there won't be oiler fans there.
That's the only kind of downside.
I'm guessing if you will get in there.
But we're going to hang out, have some great, I mean, it's a great spot.
Richmond's pub 3919, Richmond Road, Sports Live here.
They got the Barnburner Blunts.
They got, what's today?
Wednesday.
Today's Mexia, they got the $3 taco deal.
Oh, yeah.
Delicious.
Or the, well, it's a three taco deal is what it ends up.
being, but nonetheless.
Richmond's Bob.
What's your move here?
Because you're going to spread out.
You got some time.
It's 8 o'clock puck drop.
You're probably going to get there early.
Watch the end of those.
I'm happy we're not doing a post game because we get there.
We got it.
Is the gear going?
We've got to kind of watch the game.
And so we can talk about it.
Now we can we can all just be like Rett and not necessarily pay attention
to anything.
Totally.
Just eat and drink and then not pay attention to the game.
Yeah.
It's so great.
Yeah.
So what's, are you starting with wings?
What's your move here?
I've got to try those cheese buns.
It's been too long.
I got to get into them.
Yeah.
And then we're definitely hitting a wheel at some point.
And there's so many flavors of wings.
I mean,
walk me through your,
we got to,
we got to,
yeah,
it's going to be a W.
It's going to be a double W.
Wings and wheel for sure.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I guess it depends on the timing.
Yeah.
We'll see how it works out.
But wings,
I mean,
I know myself better.
I was going to say,
get just one order of wings.
No.
But I'm not going to do that.
It's going to be a double order of wings for sure there.
Anyway, these are the
Luckily we got some time.
That's coming up.
We're 10 days out next weekend.
March 29.
B.O.A.
Calgary, Edmonton.
Barn burner, Richmond's pub.
See you there.
That's how that's going to go.
Awesome.
Giveaways as well.
I've got my hands on some,
Barnburner merch will be throwing
at some of the lucky people
that do show up to Richmond's next Saturday.
It'll be jumping.
Sweet.
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet.
Okay.
A few things here.
We've got to get through yet.
I'm going to tell the folks about Tim's tomorrow, Jack.
I'm going to tell them about tomorrow.
Sounds good.
And then I get on Friday.
Heading into the weekend because it's getting down to the March 23rd.
That's right away.
It's getting down to it.
I will tell you, again, it's because it's time sensitive.

Let somebody else win.
You know, I don't necessarily, that's okay.
I have a, I have one of those or I don't really need that.
You can go back into the bucket and pick somebody else's name.
I'm good.
I think I'd keep that one.
Yeah, it's a good move.
Yeah, probably going to hang on to that one.
It won't be tough replacing you, but it was always fun working with you.
Yeah, I know, I know.
Jack, walk me, so we've got a, courtesy of the hearing loss clinic.
We've got a little giveaway going up on our social, our social medias.

I think there's two games in the NHL tonight.
There are two.
I think we had a graphicer.
Okay, I got a lot going on here.
So I'll walk you through what I'm thinking.
I just watched the Leafs the other night and we saw the abs on Friday.
They don't struggle to create scoring chances.
I don't think they're bad defensively necessary.
But this just feels like a firefight between two of the most skilled teams in the NHL.
We'll take the over six, paying minus 110, 4-3, gets.
it done for example.
I like that.
The other game I'm hitting a parlay.
I love the under between the wild and the cracking.
These are not the most offensively gifted teams.
The wild are going to tuck this one in nice and tight to the best.
I'm thinking I like the wild to win it.
And I like under five and a half.
So for example, a three two wild win.
That would be the under.
All right.
Beauty.
That three six five.

We've got the super chat proceeds from our super chat. Go to the youth centers of Calgary.
It's a place where kids can spend some time after school.
Instead of maybe getting in trial, you know, good influences.
How about some good influences? How about that?
Just when you thought the tank was on, we, we again.
William Barch, 279.
Yeah, I don't.
He was so excited, he had a wee-wee.
I don't know that the tank was ever on,
but the tank people were loving the Toronto result,
I'm guessing.
We talked about it.
You're like,
look,
I just don't know how much longer.
I mean,
but they're not going to tank,
right?
You can hope or want or feel like that's the best course of action,
but the team isn't going to.
No, I think more of the tank is the thought that get that top 10 pick,
which again,
they're only three points out of.
A bad week at the office would put them,
firmly in the top 10.
Yeah.
And then the eye, kind of the eye rolling emoji.
Oh, J.
Oh, here we go again.
Oh, that's what the devil's.
Don't know what to expect tomorrow.
And the Islanders, they've been, oh, they're going to be brutal.
No, they've actually been really good since getting rid of Brock Nelson.
Moving assets out.
I don't get it.
Rock Lobster.
Yeah.
All right.
Duke.
Duke.
The Yety brand should have been.
the sponsor of the Utah Yeti, the name the rink, the cooler.
What it worked.
Synergy.
Yes.
That would have been a great idea.
I'm sure they tried to do it, but agreeing on how much money one person should pay the
other person to be the challenge.
I know the crack and do have a business relationship with Seattle, the rum and the hockey team,
and that was a hurdle they had to clear in their trademark stuff.
So they came together and found something that worked.
Yeti and the Utah hockey ownership could not get on the same page for,
what that was worth to who and how to partner a lot of money yeah it's a lot you know the hockey team
is going to want to put the team name on a t-shirt yep and the other guys are going to be well
kind of what it's our trademark it's kind of our thing our stuff so it'll be okay it'll be all right
cooler it'd be the hell i think that yety the yety company they're on a roll new colors coming
out all the time i'm an insider uh so you got that and then on the you know the the the
hockey team. I think they're going to better days ahead. Yeah, I agree. Yeah. They get some money spent.
Everyone tying them to Marner this summer if he gets to UFA.S.A.
Ooh. Utah.
Well, what do we want to tell you? I mean, it's the devil's tomorrow. It's a five o'clock start here in the
mountain, Wolf v. Markstrom. Maybe. Or is it Vidar?
I don't know. It's not like Vlodar's going to be tired after last night.
No, fair enough.
But yeah, we'll be getting ready for it.
I would love to have.
Now, because when we talked to Ryan Pike yesterday, he's out in the New York area there.
Yeah.
And we asked about Thursdays, well, I've got to go to New Jersey.
It kind of sounded like he was maybe that was not going to work for him.
But I'd sure like to.
You leave that on my desk, okay?
Yeah, we'll talk to, be nice to talk to Pike with a Pike update.
A little pike bomb from, uh, maybe you're going to a pike bomb.
That's right.
Uh, so that's, that's on the show tomorrow.
Thanks to the noodles.
where do people vote on the candy bracket?
We want to get those votes in.
The voting is it's opened yesterday.
It will close on Friday.
It's the Sweet 16.
