The roster was unveiled for the Canadian entry to the Winter Olympic Games coming up in February. In Berlin. And there's a lot of people. You know what? There's, oh, we're wringing our hands. And there's a lot of, is this guy going to miss. That guy make it. Is this guy going to miss that guy?

Well, as is often the case, the lion's share of the guys that are on this roster you would have picked. There are a handful of changes from the roster that took. the ice at the Four Nations Faysaw. Out. We can start there. Out. Two of the goaltenders. Aiden Hill, Sam Montembow,

we, ooh. See ya. Sam Bennett is not going despite being a Four Nations champ and a cons might, the Stanley Cup, the whole thing. No Benny. Seth Jarvis is injured. He is out. And Travis Kineckney,

who Flames fans will see tonight, as the flyers come to town. He is out. So it's kind of a, is there any way for me to throw? So who do you think are in? Two goaltenders. We can start there. The guy in Washington.

Logan Thompson is in, the Calgary Kid. And I can't help but wonder if maybe he's got maybe an inside track on starting, but they'll figure all that out. But yes, Logan Thompson is in and a Saskatoon boy, Darcy Kemper. has made the squad in place of Aden Hill, or whatever. Those two are out. Kemper Thompson and Jordan Bennington will be the netminders. And it feels like this was always the one boy when Canada's goaltending situation is just the shits.

When it comes around to the Olympics, I don't know what they're going to do. How are we going to do? All that sort of thing. How do you feel about it when you start to look around because the Americans are going to find about it? I feel fine about it because I actually, I mean, I would have Bennington as my third. I thought Kemper was unbelievable against the Oilers in the playoffs last year. And he's being good. He would be my two.

And Thompson would be number one. I don't think we're paying enough attention to Washington and how well he plays. And I don't think you have to have a hash. It's nice. It's nice to have a hashic or a wa or a broder or a historically good. Yeah. I think if you have a hot goaltender, it's just fine. right like you don't have to have grant fewer who is the best forever and maybe thompson will but i think

he's playing he's at the top of the his numbers would be wouldn't they yeah oh no his since came in with vegas moved on to washington and his numbers got better and i know that the capitals are struggling a little bit but i don't really have a whole lot of a whole lot of issue with it factored in with you know what's what's hell about going to be for the Americans, we could get down the line and all of that. But for today, it's about Canada. Thompson, Kemper, and

Jordan Bennington are the goalies. The rest of the moves are all forward. Sam Bennett out, Seth Jarvis out, Travis Kinectney out. And the questions are, it's all been. Is Carter Bedard going to make it? Is Macklin Celebrini going to make it?

Bedard has been injured. He's only started skating. The event isn't for a couple of months. I think you could probably squint and assume that Baderd would be in good health by the time it rolls around. So I don't know how big of a, I don't know how big of a role that injury played, but Baderd is not going. Celebrini is going. And how do you not take Sellebrini? It's

he's 19, but he is one of the best players on the planet right now. 100%. Should be on the team, is on the team? Got to do it. There's no debating it. I'm watching the world juniors, and what was at watching Circle K, because God, I love watching hockey. Yeah. And the conversation was,

you could literally have two teams out of Canada, right? Like, and it's kind of the same for this. It's like, you're splitting hairs when you're deciding who's now, McDavid and Krausman. Okay, yeah, they're the best of the best. But when you get down the lineup and you don't take Bennett and you don't take Kinecti and you don't take Badaard,

well, it's not like you're going from their tens to ones and taking a chance on someone. These are very similar capable players. It sounds like an arrogant comment to make where, oh, we could put two teams in, but you really could. Now, I don't know how well that other team would fare because there's some very good teams, but they would be just fine in a round rob. And you really could. They would be just fine. They might win.

They'd be just fine. I don't like the, well, I can't remember what you've said, but I'll let you keep going. No, so we can take a look at the roster. So Celebrini is in and Connor Bedard is not. The other two guys that are going are Bo Horvatt and Tom Wilson. So there's the forward group, Crosby McDavid, Celebrini, Sam Reinhart, Nathan McKinnon, those guys were named early, as was Braden Point. So Sorrelli is going back, as is Brandon Hagel, the two Tampa Bay Lightning forwards.

Bo Horvatt has had a decent year. He is in. He's a newcomer. Brad Marchand is back. Mitch Marner, Mark Stone, Nick Suzuki, Tom Wilson up front. And then on the back end, familiar names. McCar, Taves, Sanheim, Shea, Theodore, Josh Morrissey, Thomas Harley, Colton Perrako, and Drew Doughty. Doudy had been saying in the last few days, I expect to be there.

I've done a lot with hockey Canada, with team Canada, and I suspect that I'll be there. And in fact, he is. Now, how much playing time he will get remains to be seen. But that is the crew. And again, the Euler fans are going to be harpen and whining about not having Evan Bouchard there. I'm sure that there's going to be some cases made for certain players to be on this squad. I just, I don't know at the end of the day if it's, I mean, the Bennett one is interesting. I don't.

I'm really surprised they took Wilson over Bennett, just because he won last year and then he went on to win a con smith. Like I don't know what Bennett has done for his stock to go down. Right. And especially if, and then if you want to go and call up his, well, what are his numbers? That doesn't matter. it's just knowing that he has proven to be one of the best money players in the game when the chips are down.

He's not trying to get you 100 points, but neither is Tom Wilson. And I'm not taking a shot of Tom Wilson because I'd love him on my team. It's just I'm a little surprised that the guy that was there last year and helped you win, and went on to win the cons might in a big tournament.

Didn't get invited back. Yeah. Okay. Because those are the guys that you really value and that you keep guys that you feel that you can count on. Yeah. When shit gets heavy and when it's when it's starting to ramp up, you feel okay with this guy coming over the boards. He's been just fine as far as regular season is concerned. Excuse me.

And we know what he is in the playoffs. Does that mean that they're less, that their chances go down? I don't, it's such, like you said, the depth is so, is so great. that they are going to win or lose on the backs of the big guys. If the goaltending isn't good, it doesn't matter if it's Bennett or Sorrelli or Hagel. It's going to be about the goaltending. But there it is.

I don't, again, I feel bad. I was at, when we were over Christmas Eve at Hubey's place there, and we were at Mahogany Troyes. There were some guys, oh, what do you think about, like, Sanheim? What about Pareko on the back? Do you like that?

I mean, I don't know. You're not sitting up at night getting wound up. Whether or not Pareko should be on the team or not. What I think it comes down to, again, is it's the on paper. The value you see in a name. Sidney Crosby, Nathan McKinnon. Colton Pareko? It just doesn't.

Well, okay. Well, who else do you? I don't want Evan Bouchard on there. This is not an Oilers Flames. Oh, you hate. It's not that. And I get the Euler fans are, oh, yeah,

how can you watch the guy play and feel like he deserves to be among the best on the world stage? He is offensively one of the most gifted guys on the planet, but he will absolutely cost you at the worst time. I don't want any part of that. No, I don't need him to be my offense on Team Canada.

I've got, plenty. I've got better defensemen that can do more. And it is not a shot because I don't like the Oilers. There is no chance. I want him defending against the rest of the world's best players. No. No chance. Thank you at all. I don't want him on the ice against the other team's best players. No effing way. Yeah. I have enough confidence in McCar and Josh Morrissey, Thomas Harley to provide offense from the blue line whatever needs to be done.

He's just too high risk. He's not going to be the driver. Even if Bouchard was on there, I get wound up about it anyway because I like chirping oil is. It's like, so he's the driver on your power play? Yeah. The Bush is the guy that's.

Yeah. Take a couple of those guys off, put him on another. It's going to change. And it doesn't need to be a Bouchard bash, but it's just, there's just no way. I guess I'm a little curious, I guess, about the Bull Horvatt ad. Yesterday the standings went up, and I'm like, how are the Islanders, like, in second in their division or whatever? Like, I was like, he must be playing well.

I'm guessing he's part of the reason they are where they are. And again, it's very tight. But I wouldn't have expected the Islanders to be in a playoff position at this point in the season. and probably part of the reason they are there, I'm guessing, is because of Bo Horvats play. Hence, I'm like, oh, he must be playing. And that's why he's on the team. Now, again, how do you take Bo Horvatt over Sam Bennett,

who's done what he's done? I don't know. I don't understand that. But if they win, what the hell difference does it make? At the end of the day, all of it is, did you win? Oh, okay, then. It's kind of like Babcock. It's like, wow, he's a great coach.

No, he had the best team ever assembled. He's not a great coach. Yeah. He didn't have to do anything. You guys go. Thank you. Yeah, you know what? Tom Wilson, guys had a great ear.

You're fine being there. You know what you're getting on to tell you guys. Who cares? If you need that and want that player on your team, absolutely. Go get it. Just looking at some of the chat, some of the people are, well, what a, you know, Mark Stone? Does he, he's another one of those guys. He is, if he's healthy, when the games matter, he is a very effective guy. He can do everything for you. He's, he'll win draws. He's a, he can be a power play nuisance in front of the net. He can kill penalties. He's big. He's strong. Nick Suzuki's been tremendous. Tom Wilson has had a very good year. And it's, I don't know that you're going to run into a spot where he's, costing you with bad penalties or any he's just a big he's hard to handle and has scored a bunch of goals already this year he's having a great season and marchant he's haven't scored again last night he's having an unreal year and the rest yeah no sirelli and haggle well is it because cooper's coaching the team and 100% sure but that's happened a lot over the course of time where a coach at the end is maybe going to be able to i feel pretty

here's a little, there's three or four guys in this basket. I feel pretty strongly about this guy. That's how it's going to go. You know, Perico is on the team. Doug Armstrong is Perico's GM. He's on the team. Well, yeah, it's probably going to happen. Probably going to happen sometimes.

I do wonder if he doesn't get injured if you're looking at the league standings. Oh, there's Celebrity. He's up there.

I mean, Badard was kind of right there too until recently. I think they would add a harder time if he didn't get it. There would have been,

I think it would have been you got some spleenin to do, fellas. What are we dealing with here? But even with the injury, 44 points in 31 games, 19 goals, he would have had. I'll tell you what I like about him this year is that he's, I think he's trying to show that he wants to be on that team. And he's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder.

And I like that. Last year I was like, this guy's a poopie pants. He's not having fun and doesn't this is. And now I'm like, okay, this is better. Yeah. Go get it. I don't know if he's any good in his own end. Maybe he costs you.

but I think if he doesn't get injured, that the conversation is... It's a little different. Yeah, it's different for sure. And at the end of the day, the Celebrini thing was much ado about nothing. Of course he's there. That was one of my bold predictions

at the start of the year that he was going to make it. And with every passing week, oh, so you'll take the second leading score in the league. You'll take the third overall score in the National Hockey League. It's not about his age. He's playing 20 minutes a night. He's 48% in the face-off dot. He's a plus 13, and the numbers beyond that.

He's got 60 points in 39 games. And I don't think he's being criticized as being one-dimensional in his approach to hockey. No. Right? Like, that will be the, if Bedard was on the team while he's terrible in his own end. And maybe he is. I watched him. but I know his old coach from junior and his old coach from junior said,

I got to get him playing there. And both ends. I'm like, no, you don't. No, he's there to put up points. So let's let him do it.

Yeah, I've got this thoroughbred. He's like real fast, but doesn't haul a wagon to save his life. We've got to turn this more of a plow horse, you know? I'd let him run, you know? You got enough plow horses in the world, don't you? We can jump in here.

I'd be if both of those guys were on this team I'd be fine with that too um I mean haggle hegel was fine sirelli is sirelli is there as more of a shutdown guy we know that but it is sirelli doesn't jump off the the page for me but I understand why he took him and it's cooper's guy

I don't care like whatever and there's people saying how do you who do you take out to put bennett in and it's like well bennett won the con smite like you God, I don't care that he's not there. I'm not going to lose sleep, but I'm not going to. Yeah. This is not the hill I'm going to die on. But if they wanted to take Bennett, I would have been very happy for Sam Bennett to be there. He's a consmouth winner.

He won last year. He contributed. He's a big game player. They took Tom Wilson. I don't think it has to be one or the other. Blah, blah, blah. Go get him Tom Wilson. I might buy a Tom Wilson jersey after this tournament.

And I don't know that, I guess that's, I'd be curious to hear the rationale, I suppose, because I don't imagine it's something that Bennett isn't doing or hasn't done. He's got 29 points and 39 games. Those are Sam Bennett numbers. He's winning half of his draws. He's still 18. He's a center. He does all the stuff that you would expect.

But you have the benefit of knowing how good he was at Four Nations and what he does when the games matter. So to kind of leave that on the same. side when he was already on the Four Nations team is curious, I guess. You know what? Maybe you can use the celebrini thing and say that he was so good. That'd be the only thing. The goaltending is what it is. But you brought in,

you brought in other guys too. Like I just wonder how they paint it. It is a very, that's the only interesting conversation I, or conversation. It's the only interesting take that I want to hear. would like a reason for. Yeah.

No care. Connecti was just okay. I thought at the four nations, you bring in Horvatt, sure, okay, that's no problem with that. Celebrini deserves to be there. Jarvis is hurt. So it's,

I guess, Wilson versus Bennett. That would be the only, the only one I'd be curious. Yeah. And it's not even about Wilson. Whoever you brought in and, so it's Wilson,

Horvatt, Celebrini, Suzuki, right? Those are the four new guys up front? Three. Wilson, Horvatt, Sellebrini, Kinecti Jarvis, and Bennett are out. Yeah, but wasn't Suzuki there? It was Suzuki at Four Nations?

That's the same guys that are making the team same guys building the roster that built that one that now maybe they looked at it and they won but they won a tight game in overtime maybe there's some other things that they saw clearly I would guess I don't I don't think they're. that smart. I think they just picked a team. I like that. And I'm not being cheeky. I'm like, you and I could pick this team. This is okay. What do you think about
