Well, hi, buddies.
Welcome to the program.
It is Barnburner on a Wednesday.
Already Wednesday.
Jack was excited about that.
Rabbit, rabbit.
Already Wednesday.
Already the 25th of June.
No, June's just around the corner.
I told you that earlier.
No, I think it's on its way.
Believe it or not, Stampede starts next week, and that's a July event.
Yeah. That's crazy.
Kind of waiting for June to get started here.
I know.
Yeah.
I love June.
One of my favorite of the summer solstice.
Yeah, for sure it is.
days are getting shorter Dean bad news sorry
oh damn it uh this show brought to you by bet 365

and I've got a horn
okay careful yeah
it's that new trumpet that the blues have
youth centers of Calgary will benefit if and when
you donate cash inside the YouTube
live chat, we'll then put your comment on the show.
And we'll take the money and we give it to
the organization that'll do good things for kids in our city.
I got a nice updated tally on what we've done so far.
Is that right?
So when did we start?
I think it was kind of around the start of the year, Jack.
Is that right?
With the super chats somewhere in October, November.
Somewhere in the beginning of the year.
Yeah.
Well, Jack's the boss.
So I figured if anyone knows.
I could do the research.
No, I don't want.
Either way, impressive total.
And know that your money's going to
great place when you do super chat on the youtubes maybe we'll release a total once we've done a full
12 months like we do a slow release for the year I don't want to do it yet because we do it the summer
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah but uh when we get to let's say yeah yeah yeah October 1 we maybe have
a full year total this is uh try to manifest energy and enthusiasm very punchy and excited all right
it's showtime who who I don't know how many times yesterday were make start to make
a comment in my brain. I'm like, this is boring.
What are we doing? I'm sorry, everybody.
Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry about all that.
I believe we have noodles coming up in 15 minutes or so.
God saves the queen. Yeah. God love noodles.
Who, uh, did we decide yesterday, nerd or not nerd?
He's hockey nerd, but we love him and he's cool.
Okay.
Like when you're on vacation in the Bahamas, when you're ever in the Bahamas and you're
breaking down like penalty kill video, that's nerdy.
Sorry.
There's a guy that works.
He's a workaholic.
There's a guy that works on the radio station that does a lot of nerd stuff.
And I think that a lot of the things that noodles does are in that food, health, the way he, hard work, the info they gather.
So the radio guy's a nerd.
We know.
There's some nerd tendencies.
Oh, I see.
But then he tells the story and you're like, oh, my God.
This guy's a good guy.
So when he's doing his overdrive.
he has to kind of nerd out.
Yeah, and you know what?
I think overdrive's a good show.
I don't watch a ton of it.
They talk a lot of leaps, although I guess we do too,
but they talk a lot of leaps of that kind of,
they also talk a lot of real sports.
They talk a lot of, I wonder, we got to ask baseball.
Oh, boy, you know, I like Keegan Bradley this week at the Continental.
You know, he's six strokes gained per round here leading the feet.
They do a lot of that.
They were talking hoops and all kinds of shit.
Yeah.
breaking down the PWHL draft and things like that.
Poor bastard.
That's why it's a professional, I guess.
We would all three throw the towel.
I think what we're learning here is that from this table's perspective,
anyone that just works really hard is nerd.
That's,
is that pretty accurate?
Then I,
I'll be damned if someone's ever going to call me a nerd.
That's right.
Not on my watch.
No, sir.
I won't stand for it.
I won't have it.
I'll do whatever it takes.
There's no nerding around.
Hey, boys.
No, I was finding the, I was finding the photo.
I threw it in there, what you were referencing.
Because in case somebody missed it.
When you're on, is he a nerd?
When you're on holidays and even when you're in a beautiful location.
Yeah.
You still feel the need to, oh, gosh, I better do some work.
You know what?
Hey, there's a lot of people you hear their business owners and that.
They can't, they can't get away.
Even when they're on vacation, they can't stop.
They got to be on their laptop.
They got to be the phones.
They got to be calling.
they got it right this is a little different
that's choosing to do it
I don't think like the the senators
called him and said could you please break down our last
six power plates
you're on vacation
yeah I mean it's literally
no
he would I love him kind of a nerd then if he's doing it by
choice there's also a lot of people that want to go
in vacation and just put their phones
and laptops right in the safe
yeah the the code the non nerds
that's what they want that is not
But I guess that's how you become hugely successful and you're in the biggest market in the country.
A multi, multi, multi millionaire.
God, that sounds exhausting.
What do you think they make, hey?
Him and Odog, like, what do those guys make?
Plus noodles is also these, what, triple dip and he's doing the senators broadcasts and panel work and radio show and all this sort of thing.
And although the entrepreneurial spirit.
Yeah, all his entrepreneurial endeavors.
It's odd.
I find it odd because I thought he hated to fly.
Oh.
So there he was.
That was earlier this year.
And we're like,
God,
he's got to be happy.
Miserable.
He was awful.
He was the most grumpy.
He's been the whole year we've had him.
He was talking to us on the phone from that location.
Literally sitting right there.
He's like,
yeah,
I've got this coconut drink that I spent $100 on.
And he was there's sand everywhere.
I'm miserable.
Why am I here?
What am I doing?
Exactly.
I'm doing it for the fam.
Yeah.
This is not my...
Basically said, my family loves this.
I can't stand it.
I'd rather be working.
In fact, here's what I noticed last night,
breaking down to some of the video.
Yeah.
Hmm.
So the nerd's coming up in about 10 minutes.
Can't wait.
Yeah, to the opposite end.
I mean,
I'm not totally, I mean, I'm kind of a nerd, I guess.
I kind of keep up on things, but
I was dropping a deuce just about 10 minutes ago.
I didn't know of Andrew Kane had been,
had been traded.
Yeah, just this morning.
Holy cow.
Red probes.
Yeah.
See, there you go.
Look at us non-nerds.
Woo!
For real?
Oh, yeah.
He's going.
He's coming here.
Hang on.
Hang on.
This is unreal.
Oh, my.
Oh.
It's okay.
That's right.
Oh, that's stunning enough.
Yeah.
Sorry, Ryan.
No, that's okay.
I just wanted to make him guess where because that would have been fun.
In division.
So who's doing a favor here?
The Canucks free up 5.1 million of caps.
for the Oilers.
And a Vancouver boy gets to go home.
A very well regarded has not worn out as welcome
in four different locker rooms guy gets to go to a place
where they jettison J.T. Miller
because the locker room wasn't good.
I do. This is.
I don't get it.
This is some Pete Shirelli shit in Vancouver.
Yes.
Back to Benning era.
If you were to tell me, it's Kane and a fourth.
Which way is the fourth going?
It's like it's Kane and a fourth.
Yeah.
Somewhere.
To Vancouver.
So yeah, they're taking,
they're getting a pick to take Kane and a fourth.
all the money. If you told me that Eminton was eating half
the salary, I could see the fourth going that way.
So he's a head case.
Penalty, the whole thing,
and he's making $5 million, and they are
absolutely desperate for cap space.
Yeah. And they're in your...
And your division. Division.
And he was invisible in the
finals and his head injury riddled
regular seasons. I'll tell you, that's one hell of a move
by the GM of the Oil. Here's...
This is brand new to the show,
by request. You could say this
about the Vancouver Canucks.
don't know what the fuck they're doing.
Do you understand that?
Brilliant.
It's a good one.
That's a nice drop.
Yeah.
I like the helicopters in the backer.
Just one more time.
Yeah,
well,
you stepped on it.
They don't know what the fuck they're doing.
Do you understand that?
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Why would you...
It's Kane.
What, 33 years old?
Well, they do need centers.
He's a winger.
He's a winger.
They are trying to get younger.
He's in his mid-30s.
They knew.
They got to build some sort of an
environment that when Hughes wants to stick around in.
Yeah.
Elias Patterson in very particular about the culture around there.
Thumbs down from the,
from the trade analysis desk.
If you're sitting at the cultural capital,
you are doing.
Oh, you couldn't be happy.
The parade is back.
Yeah.
That's a free $5 million.
And you got rid of the guy.
You couldn't wait to get rid of.
Bob Stauffer's opening a nice bottle tonight.
Oh, yeah.
Holy great job, Stan Bowman.
Great job, man.
Great.
He's going to do the same thing with Arvinson,
but that shouldn't be a hard thing to do.
Van der Kaine should be hard.
That should be hard.
It's a lot of penalties.
He can't move things without stars around him.
He's horrible defensively.
He's tough.
Particularly well-liked.
No, absolutely not.
In the room from what we've been left to believe.
Four teams now.
There's the famous Dustin Buffalo in Buffalo
couldn't get him out of there quick enough.
After he ran into some issues crossing the border.
breaking laws.
San Jose said,
don't even bring them back.
Like,
we're good here.
Like,
for nothing,
just go away.
There's a colored history
if we really wanted to nerd out.
There's a lot of behavior
that's been alleged
and there's also massive gambling debts.
And it's just,
it's a guy that is not going to make your room a better place for
Elias Pedersen.
So.
That would be their thinking.
Their thinking is we're so good.
Well,
he's from there.
Right.
So obviously that means he's going to,
for the first time ever.
The fans are going to love this.
Do you pay attention to anything in the league in terms of the fans?
You know what it is?
The West Coast hippie.
Is it the owner?
Oh my God, yes.
What's his name, Ryan?
Francisco Equivalva.
Right.
Like when Trev and I were in the front office.
It's not Aquivalva.
Like we had a really good plan to build things out.
But Aqua Velva, like he would come in and say, we need to make the playoffs,
Trav.
This will help.
Stupid.
Lyndon was on TV this morning saying,
yeah, I don't know.
That's really a shrewd thing to do
when you've talked so much
how important the culture in your room is.
Yeah, you just went through it.
We've got a kid
that's supposed to be the best,
one of the top five players in the league
can't play in the games
because he's rattled
because the room is the shit.
He's going to protect them.
That's what we're going to hear.
It's a little bit of,
this is going to give some space
and protection for...
Protect him.
Unless he's renting out Bentley's.
He's not getting protected by Kane.
So anyway, now remember, so how long was he in Edmonton then?
Three, four years?
Yeah, there was the COVID stuff that got him in trouble that loosened him up from San Jose.
And he had a one year low money deal and then I think signed a four or a five year deal at five point one.
And we all pissed ourselves in.
It was like, what are you doing?
Yeah, and again, like it's low money.
Who were you bidding against?
I was going to say.
Because, and at the time, the Oilers front office, so four seasons.
Four times one point two five.
Granted, didn't play this year.
Right.
Injured.
Had 12 points and 21 games in the playoffs.
The league's looking into that, by the way.
They are looking at it.
It's like, oh, yeah, all that hernia surgery and then you got healthy.
Then you decided to have knee surgery in the middle of the winner.
Yeah.
Why didn't you do that when you did the hernia surgery?
So three seasons, shut up, league.
Not including this year, but that he was on the ice.
22 goals, 39 points, and 43 games in the first one.
16 goals, then 24 goals.
I guess what it is is the Oilers took some heat when they brought them in over character
and all this sort of thing.
Plus you've got some capish, isn't it?
Do you need another four, that whole thing?
What letter grade do you give the Oilers on the Evander Kane?
I think that's really hard because I don't think anyone questions his ability as a player.
It's whether he's going to show up and be a good teammate and contribute or be a
complete distraction and an ass.
And he's kind of been both there.
And back to Pinders point,
first of all,
you don't know what they would have done with the money
if they hadn't spent it.
And I think they were just overpaid him
because I don't think there was a bidding war.
I don't think if you just allowed him to leave
because somebody else was offering him more money
and you wanted to pay him three.
Okay.
Three million bucks.
That's fine.
I just,
I don't think he was,
I don't know why you would have to pay him that much.
And if you did have to pay him that much,
tried to let him go. Just to remind people where things were at when San Jose cut him loose,
there were teams that said under no circumstances, will we sign this guy? He was on a no-fly list
for teams. That's how much the character has been called into question by NHL people. And so on
the first deal, they get an A-plus. He comes in at less than a million bucks. He does some things.
He adds an element that they needed. But when you extend him for four years, it's just, it was classic
Kenny Holland. It was a little too much money. It was too much term, both of things. That's kind of what he does.
now this turning out the way it has they've come out of it kind of unscathed
you know and that first year in edmonton the 21-22 season
again 22 goals 39 points in 43 games
in the playoffs in 15 games 13 goals 17 points
you're going to sign the player if he probably hasn't had enough time to
really rub anyone the wrong way potentially well he's on best behavior it's last call
right signing him is not
still it was just a bit too much and too long again and again it's all fine they go to the stand
of the finals twice you look at his numbers has it been a that much of a distraction christ they
were went away yeah so no i'd say it's probably a b minus like all in all that wasn't a bad move i think
it's an a by the end of it because of what they got in return they picked them up for nothing he came
in he contributed he wasn't there long enough he i think he burned the bridges and is gone but you got a
fourth for them yeah and you got whatever they're paying at five million you got five million
performance out of them he scored 24 goals last year although he didn't play this year so that's
lTI or who's paying insurance i don't know how that one doesn't they're looking into it apparently
so there's that well enjoying him in vancouver you stupid idiots they'll be crying up at the old
wrestling pit up there hey just good guy what's the what's the podcast out there how
how are those boys feeling about it securris and price are they tickled pink the vancouver
Twitter space for Canucks fans is like one of the most entertaining.
And it is on fire today.
It is.
It's amazing.
I got a couple of minutes for you later.
Meanwhile,
I mean,
so it's a busy time.
I feel bad.
We talked about the Oilers,
but they made news today.
They made a trade.
What are we going to not talk?
Talk about it.
That's the leading.
That's breaking news.
We cover everything just like like.
Stan Bowman and Jeff Jackson.
Jeff.
J.J.
J.J.
They're an on.
Ontario.
That's where Jeff Jackson lives.
They're talking to Judd Moldaver.
Mm-hmm.
The agent.
Who is, of course, Rhett.
Connor McDavid's agent.
Really?
Yeah.
Old Judd.
Who are the Judds?
Wynonna and Naomi.
Which one?
Wynonna was the fat daughter.
Oh, dear.
And Naomi was the rest of peace.
Oh.
The mom.
And then there was the other one.
Who was the actress?
Ashley?
Ashley Judge.
She was in heat.
That movie,
remember that show?
Have you seen heat?
It's weird how you saw it.
Oh, I haven't seen heat.
Great.
One of the best gun fight scenes ever.
Pacino, De Niro, epic.
Val Kilmer.
Yes.
It takes like four hours,
but it's unreal.
Three hour movie.
You get two bags of corn and some gummies.
You're locked in.
You need a washing brick or two,
but it's unreal.
Who is the other guy that was in that?
he was part of that group legend like he's also dead now he had some he was but he was good in that
movie too shit maybe our next guest don't know he's a big movie home he is a movie is he here now

Jamie McClennan joins us.
On a Wednesday.
Hello, James.
What's going on?
We were discussing yesterday whether or not you're a nerd.
And today, too, actually we talked about it.
Yeah, we brought up earlier in a positive light.
It depends on how you define nerd, but I would say yes.
I mean, you know, I don't, I don't shy away from that word.
I mean, am I a movie nerd?
I try.
I mean, movies, you know, I, I,
I love movies, but I don't go as much anymore because I just don't have the time.
Well, they're not as good, are they?
No, no.
It's woke and you got to do this and that.
Like, instead of just watching movies, you're like, there's always a, you know, backstory to it.
I'm becoming a bit of a stats nerd.
I'm a junkie, like when it comes to, like, studying stocks and, you know, business and stuff,
I'm a big nerd when it comes to research and companies and stuff like that.
So I would say yes.
Are you any good at that part?
Stogs.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean.
Look at his house.
Stunks.
He's good at the stunks.
Look at his house.
No, that's, I told you guys this last week when you were berating me.
I said that the Calgary flames paid for this house.
That's nice.
Now, there were two guys berating you.
One was trying to have your back and defend you a little bit.
No, listen.
It's, it's all.
And one of the clips, I think, went viral.
I was getting phone calls.
You had a massive.
Hey, Jack?
That one was...
40,000 views on that one.
Like, I don't even know what...
You know how when you...
Like, it's funny.
When you talk on shows, like our show and your show and all of this, like...
Like, my wife will go, how was the show?
I'm like, I don't know.
Yeah, we did it.
I think you had a good show.
Like, you don't remember...
Like, you know, when you talk so much, you don't remember what you say.
You remember it.
Like, you know, have a little...
spat here. You have an argument here. And you're like, okay, that was good. Like, let's move on
type of thing. And then all of a sudden you're getting phone calls going, why you and Rhett got
heated? I'm like, what are you talking about? I'm like, I don't even remember that. I go,
and then I think it was like a Walman clip or something like that. And anyways, it was,
my buddy's from Edmonton recalling going, ah, you know, Rhett was really worked up about
Walman. I said, yeah, it's his opinion. I said, that's what you're allowed to do. I said,
that's what we do. We talk about, when you sit in front of a camera,
talk and talk and talk.
Yeah.
You're bound to have disagreements, but you're also, you're allowed to voice your opinion.
That's why it's, it's called your opinion.
It's your, you're like that's, I never judge people for their opinions.
I was at lacrosse last night and the coach comes up because why are you shit talking
lacrosse?
I'm like, I don't ever remember.
I don't ever remember saying the words like.
I, I have this clip that I think like birthdays for like for, for adults.
are for lunatics.
Like, you know, because I have a friend who's like, brother who's like 35, who still puts in a list with this family.
This is what I want for my birthday.
I'm like, you're a grown-ass man with kids.
Who creates a list for their birthday presents?
You know what you get?
You get a bottle of booze.
You get a gift card from Amazon or something.
And that's it.
You maybe get a cake and acknowledgement that it's your birthday.
Like, I think birthdays are more for kids and stuff.
So I have this like comment on our show.
It's like birthdays for adults or for lunatics.
And like, so I get, I get people send me notes all the time going,
you're an ass for saying that.
I'm like, well, no, I'm not an ass.
Like, you know.
So you're a lunatic.
Yeah.
It's like you can tell the lunatics because they're the ones upset with you.
You know, so anyways, so it comes back to, you know,
the going viral for making a comment you don't remember.
The movie Heat.
Yeah.
Jack has never seen it.
Oh.
Yes.
One of the first fight scenes of all time.
Oh, it's like 40 minutes or something.
That gun fight.
I thought it was like timed it like, like yeah, it's probably like 25, 30, 40 minutes.
Incredible.
That fight scene at the end is like one of the greatest fight scenes of all movie time.
Like Val Kim are like, you know, when you look at who was in it, like I just don't.
Tom Seismore is the guy I was thinking of.
He's great in it.
You've got Pacino, De Niro, Kilmer.
Yeah.
And Ashley Judge.
Yeah.
It's just the it's kind of the who's who of like in that era of like we'll call them tough guys because they came from the you came from the gangster movies into like that like I I loved heat heat is also Pacino at his overacting best yeah you can get killed walking your doggy she got a great ass he's just yelling all the time well there's a clip I don't you remember the devil's is advocate the devil's
When he's on the train and that guy's going to shiv him with the knife and he's like,
why don't you stick that knife where it belongs?
Because Hector is at home with your wife and like, it is like, and he goes, I love it here.
Like it's an unbelievable.
I'm not going to say what he says, but you go back on that clip alone and it is vintage, vintage.
Puccino.
Yeah, you watch him as Corleone.
He kind of talks.
He kind of soft-spoken.
And then it's, what was it, Sea of Love where he's the blind guys.
Who, ah.
Yeah, who are.
Yeah.
The Oscar for that.
So I got to make some noises.
Whoa?
So then from there on, he was just yelling and screaming.
Yeah.
No, I love the old school movies.
The newer ones, not so much.
Like, I'll be honest, I just don't, I don't, maybe it's because I'm older, but I don't
identify with them as, as, I don't love them that much.
I love the Jason Bourne movies.
I love the, like I've been a max.
Possible?
Yeah, I like to make.
but I haven't seen the newest one
four hours long. How long
is it? The first one I really liked.
I haven't gone to the next. So you're saying the 30th
one? Who's seen that one? That's the one that's
the one that's the one that's out now? Okay, yeah, yeah. Because there's a
billion of them. That's the thing now. We just do sequels and there's
no original ideas anymore. I do respect
that Tom Cruise does his own stunts,
which is kind of cool. Has he mentioned that?
That's odd. Yeah.
Yeah, he does talk about it. Oh, really?
Tom, do you? We haven't heard that. Holy!
Yeah, I know, but Tom is a wacko on the best of days. Remember he was like
jumping on Oprah's couch and stuff.
He's a weird dude.
You know what?
I loved Top Gun.
And then the second one came out.
And I just,
he gets,
because he was,
he was convincing and good in it.
It's like he still looked.
He looked all right.
He was in good shape.
And it's like,
there's the motorbike and there's the leather jacket.
And there's the,
it took me back to my youth.
So I appreciate.
I was a fan of Jennifer Connolly.
Yeah.
No,
there's some,
there's some talent in there.
But I,
I just now,
I get.
frustrated where it's like, okay, every movie has to have a certain look or a certain feel
or a certain theme behind it.
I just want to sit and lose my mind for two hours and forget about life.
I don't need any underlying messages or, you know, how many matinee movies have you
been to in your life?
Oh, my God.
Thousands.
Yeah, we used to think.
Thousandss because even, I mean, my first 10 years at TSN when we're going into studio,
there's a movie theater across the street.
So if I'm doing overdrive at 4 o'clock,
I'd go to a 130 movie,
130 to 330, go over to the studio.
So I would go, and there was times
where I booked the movie around the time that it started.
They're like, yeah, this is going to be a crappy movie
and I'm only going to watch 90 minutes of it,
but there's popcorn there.
And I leave halfway through and I go,
they're like, how's the movie?
I'm like, I don't know, I don't know how it ended,
but it was all right.
I've done that hundreds of times.
Just Kurt.
Everyone was that ass hat, Monty,
We had the cards to go to the movie theater.
We'd go with, we go to call me and call me.
You get the pop card.
We'll pay for the tickets.
But it just, I like I've always felt that the movies, now the traditional movie, everybody
watches movies on their phone, including me.
So it's, you know, I feel like it's still, we do this.
I don't know if you guys have ever done it.
Like we do it with the kids in the summer.
We do a drive-in.
We go to the drive-in and do a double-hand.
and do a doubleheader.
I think it's a night as a family type of thing.
But I take my son to movies on the weekend.
Like he doesn't mind it.
He loves to a movie,
but the only issue is that they're not as good as everyone says it.
It's probably because they're producing so many.
Every streaming service has a...
You're right.
It's trying to catch up.
I'm more into series now and stuff like that.
But in the end, like I do like a movie.
I do, like I'll go sit through it.
But when's the last?
like heat or movie
that came out like a heat or
you know something like that where it's like
man it's
what was that show that Napoleon
they totally screwed that up right
like that should have been a good movie
Napoleon Dynamite was good though watch that
of course Uncle Rico's my favorite
vote for Pedro
no but that scene where Uncle Rico
throws the steak and hits him in the face
like that's about it's
I've been online chatting with
babes all day.
Uncle Rico's like, I could throw this football over that mountain.
Like he's dead serious, too.
Like, there are people.
Steve Mondador was Uncle Rico.
His Uncle Rico.
He believed it.
He believed he could do anything, which is, I mean, I miss that guy.
But it's funny.
Like, that type of stuff I love.
So what's going on?
What do we got here?
What are we?
Well, we were calling the Vancouver Canucks stupid before you got here.
why they would take Evander Kane and give up a fourth and take all the,
I mean,
they should be getting a pick to take all the money and Kane.
I don't,
it's a huge coup for the Oilers.
I don't understand.
Well,
it's a big win for them,
but apparently at this,
you know,
reading our insiders writing or whatever saying that there was a,
apparently two or three teams that Kane had said he would go to.
And they,
all three of them were kind of like in on it.
That's what you would tell Vancouver too.
That's perfect.
Fair enough.
I don't understand.
So I would say this,
what is Vancouver's plan?
That's the first and foremost,
because they're probably trying to sell
to the defensemen were competitive
because you're not, you know,
you're a year away from potentially extending him
and deciding him deciding his future in Vancouver.
Right?
So these the, what, second best defenseman on the planet, arguably?
I think, like I'm,
I'm a Macar.
Five, maybe number one.
I'm a McCar guy, but I mean, if Hughes isn't one A or two, then, you know, it's a challenge.
But they've got big decisions to make.
Like, I, you know, I half-heartedly joke.
I did a sports center hit, and I said, could Demko not have been in that deal?
Like, they got three goalies, right?
So Sheeloff just won in the H.L.
He needs waivers.
He's not going to make it through Wills.
I think he's a pretty good
goaltender that has a chance to be an everyday
guy. I don't know if he's a Vladar
or better type of thing
because he's a big goaltender, nice butterfly,
good skills. We saw it in the playoffs against
Edmonton. I thought he handled the moment pretty well
at 22, 23 years old.
Played his way out of the league this year, though. Like he played
his way down to Abbotsford. He was not good.
Yeah. No, you're right.
You're right. He didn't. But I could also
say that, you know, that team wasn't
that team wasn't the team that we saw the year before.
So, you know, heronic, like there were guys downed and then he also won a frickin.
Yeah, it was great when he was down.
But I would say I'll take a chance on a 24-year-old goaltender that has the skill set.
Maybe the team could play better in front of him.
So they got his side.
You've got Demko at 5 million.
You've got Lankin starting a 5-year extent, 4 or 5-year extension at 4.5-year extension at 4.5.
something like that.
And then you're going to have Shilov.
So that's where I start with Vancouver.
What are you doing in a net?
Because you're going to lose one goaltender if they put him on waivers.
And are you making a decision on Demko extending him?
Or are you going to move him?
Because you're not moving Lankan and you just extended him.
So it's really Demko or Shilovs.
That's the way I look at it.
You see you that's coming summer like a year from now.
And the hope would be you could get him right and get a King's Ransom for him.
Like I understand you probably don't want to give a division arrival a ton of cap space,
but what you really don't want is a guy to turn into a top 10 goalie in the league like he was before his injuries in division.
That's the big no-no for me.
But he can sign them in a year potentially.
It's one more year.
Right.
But Edmonton doesn't, I don't think you're sitting as Stan Bowman sitting at McDavid's cottage right now going,
we're going to wait another year to see if this guy's avail.
Like I think, you know, you're selling to him.
I'm going to get a goaltender right now.
And, you know, I don't know what it looks like, but it's going to be different.
And that's what I keep preaching.
And maybe that's the wrong word, but it's got to look different in net there.
And I don't think it's somebody to challenge Skinner.
I think what you do is you've got a Pickard who makes $8.50 or whatever it is,
we'll call it a million.
We won 22 games for them last year and was seven and one in the playoffs for them.
That's a good number two.
I think what you do is you look latterly.
So coming back to Vancouver, they got to do something with their goaltender.
And you're right, it is a bit weird that they take Evander Kane and give up a fourth.
So they basically got them for free.
And does Kane make you a better team?
Yes, but there's lots of baggage that comes with that, right?
And they're already coming off a very dysfunctional dressing room last year.
It should be hypersensitive to the room.
There should be no one going in that room.
J.T. Miller has to go.
Right.
This environment's just not healthy.
Come on in, Evander, Kane,
who played his way out of Winnipeg, Buffalo, San Jose,
and potentially even Edmonton.
Come on in.
Yeah, like that is...
Well, it's also in division,
and yet you've handed the Oilers.
I mean, if there were other teams involved,
it sounds like you were going to move Kane anyway,
but it feels like you've...
Well, if you're going to take Kane,
then, okay, then you want the player...
Don't take all money.
Running is a 30-goal score that is a unique...
Like let's do this.
Let's remove the baggage and the off-ice stuff.
If Evander Cain is able to give you 25 goals and 60 points, 55 points,
and be a bit of a unicorn, which when he's at his best,
there's rare guys in the league, right?
Brady Kachuk, Tom Wilson, guys like that who can skate, fight, do it all.
That's Evander Cain.
Now he's 35, is he?
33.
It seems like he's 35.
So just wave your hands at the baggage, though.
34 in August.
I'm not waving.
Like,
that's what I'm saying.
I'm just saying.
They literally just blew up their team over that, right?
Like J.
Timilo, they couldn't do that.
Right.
I'm saying you take the package like of the player.
They're better on paper today than they were yesterday,
but it also is, like you just said, Pinder,
you just brought another powder keg into your room where it's like,
Okay. Now, I have to give, I always want to give people the benefit of the doubt.
As you grow older, you grow a little bit wiser, you maybe calm down a little bit.
You know, that type of, like, Evander Kane, there was times in the playoffs where I thought he was a difference maker.
But in a positive way.
And then in the finals, I thought he was a difference maker in a negative way because he was checking with a stick around his head.
And he got, what, four minors.
and he wasn't the threat that we saw him getting underneath the skin of Matthew Kuchuk
and Calgary.
He wasn't the threat that we saw him against Dallas or L.A. or Vegas.
Like I just, I think it was time for him to go.
I think they're not done.
I think they're going to move Arvardson and his $4 million.
So they're going to rectify some of their mistakes.
And they better have a good summer.
When you've got a guy that is sitting there, like you said, Judd is,
is controlling with McDavid
what they're going to do for term and money.
So the big decisions to be made in Edmonton
and I look at it in Calgary, not as much,
but I think Raspus Anderson is a massive,
like I think he's a massive chip.
I don't know how you guys feel,
but like I think he's one of the most coveted players right now,
I would think.
Especially if McBlad stays in Florida somehow.
No, maybe he doesn't,
but the market for right-hand D,
is very thin and he's a guy making half of
his worth. I was going to say to you,
Eklad's going to come probably something with an eight in it,
ish, nine, I don't know, what is that black
going to get higher than? Okay, so nine, let's call nine.
Unless he stays in full.
The open market. So Anderson at what,
four eight? Four and a half.
Four and a half. Five, five, five.
That's, that, what did I just say? The most coveted,
like I think, you know,
Connie's in a real strength or position of strength if he wants to move that player and decides to.
And I don't know what the plan is.
But if he's not going to sign long term with Calgary, you've got to go and try and get a King's ransom for him.
You said you don't know what the plan is.
We've talked a lot about that.
It feels like to me, Rasmus Anderson would stay in Calgary.
But as opposed to taking a hometown discount, it's a no, no, no.
Your pit, you want to be tax.
What do you call up?
The Alberta tax or the Calgary tax?
The Albury tax.
the Edmonton tax, the Winnipeg tax, the Ottawa tax.
Yeah.
Yes.
I think if you look at it, you know, some of his buddies are gone off the team, though, right?
Markstrom, Lynn Holm.
Who else?
Who's the other Swedish meatballs?
I think he was tight with those other guys, too, though, like the Kajucks and Bennett's and that whole crew.
Is this not just about how competitive your team is?
Like if they're a playoff team, I think he's happy to re-up, and it makes sense.
But they're clearly, you know, a team that could be really, really bad next year if they don't get as many saves.
And he's like, look at my age.
This is my one chance at UFA.
And I can go pick a competitive team.
He's been playing for cheap for what he does for it.
So, okay, so then let's separate the two.
The money and the term.
What's it going to look like for him financially if he goes to UFA status?
In a year, I'd say eight and a half.
half time seven minimum right so something with an eight at it maybe a great year maybe more you're
trade the marketplace so you're putting 60 million that's pretty much no i'm not doing the numbers
well 65 what am i seven eight times seven million sixty five to 70 million bucks 60 plus million
calgary probably paid that to have him stay but it depends of what you're getting in the
And that's the problem is that, well, we can keep them and we can sign him to whatever the hell we want.
We've got a cab space and he can play.
I'm not so sure they would at that number.
I know.
You don't think so?
The equation has to include what are we being offered for him?
Oh, two first rounders?
Right?
Like, that's part of it.
If it's a fourth, like they got for cane, well, no.
Yeah, we'll keep him.
Okay, but do you want, do you want?
do you want draft currency or do you want young player currency?
I think they're so good.
This is what we've debate about all the time.
What is it?
I don't know.
I'm sure Craig has an idea,
but I can't figure out what their plan is.
They're calling it a soft rebuild,
which is a bunch of bullshit.
And it's one,
like you're going to have to make moves one way or the other.
Well, it is because we're watch those top teams.
And you need.
to barkoff and barcoff's not a hundred point guy but barkoff shuts down he's a hundred point guys
oilers are in the final because they've got hundred point guys we don't have either right and you can
be competitive and stay middle of the road and our position and this does not have to be mr edwards
or connery's position our position is i want a 10 year window where the calgary flames or front
runners as far as competing for a stanley cup it's not make the playoffs maybe it's not in one year
and then miss for two and then in for two and out for one.
It's a 10-year window of good, solid, we have a chance to win.
Okay, so how do you do that with Cadry, Backlin, Coleman?
You don't.
You trade them.
You trade their asses is what I've been saying all along.
Right.
Although I didn't tell you that I dawned on me,
but they should have got a score last.
I got yelled out for saying they have to trade Anderson in January.
We've come around.
Well, that's fair.
But at that point, I think Anderson is less of the issue.
Sorry for interrupting you there.
Like I can see a signing of Anderson because I think he's still capable in five years.
And I don't think even at eight or eight and a half in six years that he's going to drop off so drastically that he can't play.
Maybe I'm wrong.
Well, the cap will be a lot higher in eight years or whatever too, right?
So, you know, eight million is not going to be as huge of a dent if there's some erosion.
But I think the biggest thing is you come back to the word plan.
Okay.
So last year the goalie stands on his head and, you know, what a 96 point team that still makes misses a plows, which is crazy, you know.
Tidebreak.
That it is still.
It's a record, right?
It is the record, I believe, right?
Three times ever, 96 hasn't gotten in.
It's wild.
Yeah.
So I guess you look at it.
Can Wolf have growth or is you're hoping that he replicable?
you know that's the biggest thing if he gives some replication then the team is going to be a 90 plus
point team again just because the goal he gives you a chance um who had down years last year who who can
maybe is there internal growth that you would be banking on yeah sharonkovich was terrible
zary was heard a lot coronado's coronado should be better the issue becomes in that cadre was really good
is he going to continue on that at 34 35 or whatever it's
back one.
We don't rely on him for points,
but he has to be impactful.
He's getting old.
Yeah.
He's,
he is aging.
Frost never put up numbers that.
Farabee never put up numbers.
Like,
yeah,
there's room for growth.
But I,
it's the same.
I say it all the time at training camp.
Oh,
we got all these young guys.
God,
they're good.
These guys look pretty good.
Hey, don't they look good?
They're right.
No,
no,
no,
you have to compare them against the rest of the league.
Yeah.
It's because the
Russell League's trying to get better too.
I get it.
But young guys have to be part of the equation
if you're going to grow the program.
And so if Anderson can fetch you a hydrapic
and a really good prospect,
like not prospect, live player, younger.
Like Connie tried to do it last year,
Farabee, Frost.
You get that mid, you know, mid-20s player
that could fit in with the young guys.
And that has to be if Anderson,
you're going to bring in somebody young.
like you know i don't even know what the trade looks like but bow and byron should be a guy who's on the
radar like bow and byrne byrne i don't know why age range they should hunt for sure yeah yeah well like
the lindholm deal is the template you got a first you got some prospects and picks and you got a roster player
that maybe you can flip or keep if it pans out and kuzmiko did both here he was unreal after the trade that
year dog shirt until they traded him and then great again in l. like that's got to be where you start
You say, okay, the minimum here is a first to prospect a roster player and let the bidding war begin.
Keep adding better roster players and more picks if you want them.
Yeah.
And we talked about it earlier this week, James.
I'm curious your thoughts.
What we're hearing from the insiders like Pierre LeBron is they've exchanged their numbers.
Here's, you know, here's our ballpark.
And here's like, ooh, that's tens of millions apart on a seven, eight year kind of a term.
So we're going to, we're going to make a trade.
you've made it clear that you're probably ready to move on.
We're probably, when do you want this deal done?
Because a lot of times it's,
hey, we're fine bringing him into the season.
He's got a contract.
He's a sign player.
I feel like this is a situation where I'm not doing that
if I'm Craig Conroy, but what are your thoughts on that?
The only reason I think you could probably have peak,
potentially a peak return right now is because I think the UFA class is
weaker. So you're looking to a lot of managers and in people I talk to are saying you might see a
more proactive trade market than you do UFA. You're not spending like managers aren't just going to
spend money for the sake of hey, we got extra. We got cap space so we better do this.
Because why would you waste money and that's the wrong term? Why would you spend money on a player
that's just okay for your program instead of if you, you know, if you covet somebody, go get them.
instead of going, hey, you know what, we need a second line center, P.S.
suitors out there.
He's really a three, but we're going to force feed him in two and overpay him in UFC or as a
UFA.
It doesn't make sense.
So what I'm hearing, again, I'm sure you guys hear the same thing and we see it on, you know,
X and all of that is managers, like there's a lot of chatter going on.
Now, I say it every year.
Maybe I'm hoping it's just wishful thinking.
I feel like all hell's going to break loose here.
and in a good way where it's like we're going to see a lot of musical chairs.
We're going to see a lot of teams.
And I'm going to pose this to you three, though.
Is there one team that is waving the white flag going, we're rebuilding?
Like Chicago.
Exactly.
Pittsburgh.
And who?
Chicago is still part of that?
Chicago is, okay, Chicago, yes, is bottomed out, but they're trying to get better.
So they're not coming down.
They're starting to build.
You're right.
There's one team that I think has probably been given the green light to start to move some players out.
It seems like Pittsburgh is the team.
But you got Sidney Crosby there.
And what does Sid want to do?
You got Gino and Lattang and Carlson and Term and no move clauses and all that clauses.
So you're going to have to be creative.
But that's a team that I would circle and go like if I'm, you know,
Ebenton asked me, like, who would you want?
well, Brian Rust, like you look at a guy that maybe you could play with dryside.
So I look at, I guess the reason why I bring them into the mix is all these teams
are probably selling to their owners like, we're going to get better.
So where are these players coming from?
But where is the improvement if it is, you know, quote unquote, a little bit of a weaker
UFC class?
Yeah.
How do you steal from the talent pool that's out there?
There's only a certain amount of talent.
So is there a team that goes, you know, we don't think we're going to have it this year.
So we'll wait another year.
Like I'll give it.
I think Montreal could be a very interesting case study.
Because what they need is experience internal growth from some of those young players continue to.
They made the playoffs last year.
And they're a good team.
And that Hudson's a star, I think.
And that Demadoff has a chance to be really good.
Slavkovsky is starting to use his size.
we saw Suzuki and Caulfield turn a corner.
But they're still young.
So do they have the luxury of waiting another year
and maybe plucking some players from teams that either get desperate
or that need to move money or need to, you know,
if they move carry prices contracts somehow,
they'll have a ton more flexibility as well.
So like that's an interesting team that I look at
because I think Montreal is a really up-and-coming team.
but do they believe they're a cup contender next year or they did believe that hey we made the playoffs our next goal is to try to win a round or two like to get to that next level internally so are you looking at the pitts and going can we add are you looking at a team that is pressed pressed up against the cap and go okay well i'll take that contract but i want that 22 year old that is playing in your minor league team that we think's going to be a really good player or or maybe a live player at 27 28
So there's only a few teams around the league that kind of might have that mentality.
Everybody else is either selling to their manager or their owner.
We're going to be better this year.
Like, what's Nashville doing?
Didn't I read that Roman Yose's like had some sort of a rare condition, right?
Does that mean he's not playing?
Does he not, you know, like it's concerning, right?
After Barry Trots is, you know, he swung for the fences last year,
is he going to double down or is he going to try and move some assets out?
Right?
What you're describing is the perfect market to sell an asset in.
Exactly.
Everyone wants to be a buyer minus a few very small examples.
And that, to me, screams trade Anderson before the calendar turns to August.
That was my long-winded answer to Craig Conroy is sitting with some pretty impressive chips in his, or cards in his hand.
Because, yes, Nazim Kadri, term on his deal.
Pretty coveted guy, though.
like I think there's a lot of teams that would be looking at it.
I see if you'll do the cap space thing.
Totally.
Eat half.
Let's go.
So that's my point is like you're,
I think Calgary could be sitting there looking,
looking pretty good.
If Connie wants to be patient,
if Connie wants to ask for a king's ransom for some of these players on his roster.
And then we've got internal growth for some of the guys that you just laid out,
the Zaris,
And is there a defenseman that you feel like is?
Correct is that kid.
Greg will make the same this year.
He's going to.
So what about that mutant right shot there?
Clapka.
He'll be,
yeah, they just signed him.
He's two years at one and a quarter.
I saw that,
but I like him.
I like him.
Like I think he's got a chance to push up to a top six roll.
If he wants to get a little like consistently meaner,
he's a good skater, a big guy.
like. So I think Calgary could be in a very unique position at the draft here,
when teams are very desperate to build their team. I don't think you'll see a lot of teams.
They might be forced by this to start the season, but maybe not the end product they want,
going, okay, we're going to keep our cap space and see who becomes, who by Thanksgiving,
U.S. Thanksgiving is going to drop out and be sellers.
So you're going to start the season with a team that maybe you feel is 80% complete.
And then you go, yeah, let's see if this guy and this guy can play.
And then you go, that can't play, but we're going to use our $8 million in Capspace to go get player X from that team that didn't.
It's not going to make the playoffs.
Okay.
And that's probably every summer that's similar, right, with different UFAs and different RFAs.
That can all be different to a certain extent.
Right.
What are the flames?
Like it all goes back to you for me.
What are the flames?
I know what my opinion is.
Okay.
So my thought process, the flames are a lot like the Montreal Canadians then.
Then you can be patient and you can look at internal growth.
But you know, Montreal has veteran guys on their roster as well.
I don't know how coveted the Gallagher's are and the Josh Anderson's are and guys like that.
But that we were just talking about the cadres, Coleman's, you know, backlins, guys like that.
that are older, still a little bit of term left.
Montreal made the playoffs.
They were kind of the same, when you look at it,
the points and all of that, like they were right there.
It just they were in a different conference.
I think Calgary has the luxury of some time here
to just let these guys play and let the offers come in.
And you could deal with the, it gets back to the first conversation.
You got to deal with the Rasmus Anderson situation.
That's your biggest chip.
Yeah, I agree.
and on the flip side, we hear it all the time.
Especially, and it's like you say, this is every year.
There's a player who's got one year left and no, it's going to be traded.
Yeah.
If I'm another GM and I'm looking to buy, I may as well get 82 games of this player rather than 20 or 25.
And then in addition to that, well, do you have a wife?
Yeah, you got a kid.
Oh, so you're going to leave them behind mid year.
And it took about 8, 10, 12 games and he finally started, fuck that.
Get your wife.
Get your kid.
move down here. Let's get you set up.
What can we do to make you comfortable? Come to camp,
be healthy. We control all of that
and let's start the year.
I just, sometimes they work out
the deadline deals, but in this, I just think
for the player, the buying team,
and for the flames, it just makes
so much sense to get it done.
What you just said, only increases
a chance of that player
extending. He's at one year left. You bring a guy
in for a year. He gets to know the community.
Like, Miko Raton was asked to make a decision on
Carolina. You might have spent less than 20 days
there because he was at four nations there on the road a ton like yeah if you're
totally you could be totally sold that you're not staying but yeah it gives you more of uh
you're nice you just have to figure them out yeah yeah you're right the longer they stay
you're longer they get to know the city they decide if they want to make that their long-term
home or they're ready to move on like it it happens and and like we've talked about a couple
weeks ago the players are packages now it's the you know the wife the you know the parents
Like they all have a say in it where I felt like maybe I was wrong just because I was single most of my career.
I felt like in my generation, red, our generation, that didn't factor in as much.
I think people were just like, we're going because we got to play here.
We're going there.
Like it just nowadays players are more choosing their destination.
That's meant you had to keep her because she wasn't complaining that you were gone.
Well, maybe.
Yeah, I just, it's just different.
put it that way. But I think you look at it. My question now is,
habitually, do you get more of the deadline or do you get more of the draft?
Like that's the, I don't know. Here's a, like, do we know what the flames were offered
for Jacob Markstrom at the deadline as opposed to what they got for him?
Exactly. And then Mark is different every year. Last year, guys got halls at the deadline.
And of course, the year the flames got all those sales two years ago. It was like, yeah, the returns were a little
like this. So you just, you don't know. And if you're Connie, you forget the market.
Set the price. What is fair and what do you think you can get? If someone hits that,
pull the trigger. Yeah. That's a great point.
And that's what I was getting at where it's like, he wants this much money. Yeah, you don't want to pay them.
But if you're not getting what you need in a trade, pay them. Who cares?
Well, I think it comes down again, Rasmus controls his own destiny.
here. So he decides if he wants to stay or move. But if he indicates that he's not going to sign a
long-term deal, he opens the door to Connie to go, go find me that move, you know, and get what you
need out of it. And so then that's the case where Connie sets his price. And if he gets it at the draft,
or he gets it tomorrow, or he gets it, you know, July 3rd, then so be it. The one thing that I don't
think we can deny is you could argue Connie might have the number one player that chip in the
league really I don't know who else to you know who whose teams is available unless you know
dubus sends out a note saying Sydney has decided that he's going to you know accept to trade
it'll probably be to like one or two places so it's not even a marketplace it's just like get
the deal done with that team type of thing you know if hey I'm going to go play with
with McKinnon.
Okay, get that deal done.
What does that look like?
I want to go to Montreal.
That was my favorite team growing up.
Okay, what does that look like?
There's no, hey, let's see what San Jose is going to offer type of thing.
Like it just, there's, so I didn't, I think I shot down my own argument.
I still think that Rasmus might be the biggest trade chip if they decide to trade him.
He's the guy that you, like there's lots of young guys that might be available.
Like we hear Peturca.
we hear by one it's an interesting one
tyru's name just popped up in the last 24 hours from frank
but like those guys often get talked about
and they just stay where they are because they're in their young 20s
and it's like yeah we can't find an equal values
I think it's easy to find a market guys like rasps get traded every year
they've one year left they're veteran guys you know what they are in this league
it's not hard to figure out what you have to pay to get them
what is j j j per turka he's not a driver
23 is a left winger that's flirted with 30 goals back to back years
riding on sustainable shooting percentages.
So there you go.
So I mean...
On a bad team.
On a bad team.
But would he be a good support player, a top six winger?
Yeah.
Played with a skilled centerman.
Yeah.
But what is Buffalo want?
Like, they apparently are hard to deal with because they don't even know what they want, apparently.
Yeah.
They don't even more first rounders.
They've had a billion of them the last 15 years.
They don't know what the fuck they're doing.
Do you understand that?
Right?
It might be the best sound clip of the year.
It's an early favorite.
It really is.
You're right.
But there should be like, you know, is there going to be an offer sheet?
You know, is there going to be, it's a copycat league.
I just don't see an offer sheet.
Like people are like, oh, is Nye's going to get offer sheeted here in Toronto?
We've got to sign the offer sheet.
But maybe it's outrageous that somebody's going to try and jam them up.
I don't know.
You have to get over at 9.2 to make it even challenging.
And that's a big swing to take on a guy that's looked really good playing next to one of the top centers on Earth.
Yeah.
No, I agree.
I'm just saying, like, is there going to be one?
I don't know.
I.
It goes back to what you started with.
There's a talent pool out there.
And who's going to be able to pull or take a swing and get, like, even if you, that's my opinion of Paturka.
I'm not running a hockey team.
I'm not doing advanced stats on Paturka.
I'm doing general viewings of them
and some casual conversations with people I know.
Yeah.
But I mean, you're not,
I wouldn't disagree.
I've watched,
I did a bunch of Buffalo games this year.
I've watched him live,
like a talented guy.
I think,
but I think Buffalo,
like I've said and maintained,
they got a bunch of good players.
They just don't,
I don't know if they put it together as a team.
Like I would be calling Buffalo on talk.
I'd be calling Buffalo on
Tage Thompson.
Everyone.
Yeah.
Tage is locked in cheap, but yes.
Yeah.
You never know what you're going to hear.
If there's a team to screw it up, it would be Buffalo.
Well, Tage Thompson isn't leading,
but hasn't taken over the leadership role that I think
the Sabres wanted them to take and to lead them into a playoff spot.
So, and I'm good, this is BS talk because I have no clue.
I would be phoning about Tate Thompson.
Sure.
And they might say something and you're like, no.
There was a time.
two years ago, I watched them live and I was like,
these two are going to terrorize this league.
Thompson and Tuck, big, skate, shoot, hit.
I don't have to fight.
On paper they're good enough.
Like, I'm sorry.
Like, what do you do with your coaches?
But their D-Corps doesn't play.
Then get a better D-coach.
Like, bring in Sylvan Le Fay, pay him double with Florida's paying.
You got two number one picks back there.
Yeah.
And I think Dahlene's doing a fine job.
I think he's competitive enough.
I don't know.
You just said, you watched Buffalo a lot this year.
That power doesn't stand out the way you're hoping he wouldn't.
I still think he's young and he can come along.
But I, if I had to use one word with power, I think he's meek.
Yeah.
Very like he's light and very weak.
Now, you could have a good summer and all of a sudden you got 15 more pounds of
of confidence of 15 more pounds of,
we'll call it man strength,
and all of a sudden,
like,
the meekness comes out of the guy.
And Aaron Eckblad.
I always think about that.
It's like,
what was Aaron Eckblad eight years ago?
I don't know.
I think it was kind of like,
is he any good?
I think he's good,
but is he never having that conversation
with Chris Pronger when Pronger,
when Prongs was with Florida as an AGM,
whatever he was,
special advisor.
And he said,
Eckblad had a crossroads.
Like,
he was a good player.
but needed to decide how he wanted to play,
how consistent he wanted to be in his preparation,
his work ethic, all of that type of stuff.
A lot of these guys coming out of junior,
they're the top guys, and they've always just been the top guys.
I look at Darnell Nurse.
I think he's the same thing.
He was just a talented, good skating,
six foot four, 225 pound defensemen,
but the details of the game haven't, you know, they're not there.
And I look at Eckblatt is a great example.
Power could probably develop into something like that.
And Buffalo has time, I guess.
It's been 14 years.
How much time do they have?
Because they, and I'm not, I don't know.
I don't think you should have moved cousins.
What's the guy they got in return?
And then, of course, he got hurt.
They made too many odd moves.
It does, I don't know.
But now, another high pick.
Well, I just, at some point, don't you think it's like, okay, the pieces should all come
together you got you know tatech thompson has to if you look at that nchl edge like doesn't he have the
most amount of shots that are over 100 miles an hour it's like hammers the puck 100 000 just an abundance
of above average talent when you have a top 10 pick for a decade plus yeah you should be better than you
what yeah and we keep waiting for um we do need to get you out here i assume yeah okay uh just i'm going to
throw the hall of fame yesterday four names
quick thoughts or, you know,
what comes to mind when you hear Alexander McGilney.
Okay, so I,
we always focus on who didn't make it in.
And obviously,
golly hugger, I get pissed off.
Like,
Kerry Price should have been there every day of the week for me.
I'm sorry.
But I'm more mad at the format of this Hall of Fame.
I'm an NHL voter.
My votes are transparent.
The, you know,
professional writers association.
If I voted for somebody
for Selke, it's there.
Okay? We ask all the time.
We have friend, Iggy's on the
Hall of Fame selection committee.
They're not allowed to talk about it.
It's like the Kennedy files
or the 9-11.
Right?
It's ridiculous.
It's weird.
It's weird because
you try and guess the criteria.
My only complaint with all of this
is if you're a Hall of Famer,
you should go in.
But I don't like
the fact that it's like, oh, well, only four males can go in here and two feet.
Because if Alex McGilney was a Hall of Famer eight years ago, he didn't get better.
That's true.
It just he, he's a, they wedged him in on a year that they, hey, this is his year.
Rogy Vashon, people had to Google who Rogi Vashon was.
It was 20 years.
At least 20.
At least 20, maybe 40, I think it was, whatever it was.
Rogie Vashon, if you deemed he was a Hall of Famer, you put him in.
So my point is Alex Mogilny, really good player and Hall of Famer, but so is Carrie Price.
So I would have been fine with five being announced yesterday and going,
these are the five Hall of Famers because they're eligible, and that's it.
That's where I struggle with.
It's the format because I don't want to sit here and kick Joe Thornton or Alex McGilney in the junk
going, well, that guy didn't win.
You know, that guy didn't, you know, this guy did more.
This guy did, like, you should be celebrating them.
And I felt myself being petty yesterday.
Instead of going, you know, Alex McGilney, you deserve happy for you.
I'm going, how the hell is Kerry Price not make it in?
There's no transparency.
It's a huge problem.
That's the thing I struggle with, guys, because I think that's where you can, it's a made-up format.
This isn't like, I'm sorry, things can evolve and change.
change just like the world has done.
So why can't they
change that? If one year
you have 10 guys get in and
one year you have one? Right.
You know what the comment
to us was?
And Bob McKenzie, we had him on the show yesterday.
He was tongue in cheek, but he's like, well, you
don't want James Dothi to have, you know, the show is only
a certain length and you can't have
you know, like, you can't have too
many people because their speeches will roll
over. I'm like, then cut speeches.
Like just, you know, in the end,
have whoever you believe
as a Hall of Famer go in.
Because right now, I think
a guy like Chris Osgood
over time, his stats
will look like Hall of Fame stats.
But there's no context. There's like, oh, there's seven
Hall of Famers played on Detroit in front of him
and, you know, all of that type of stuff.
I look at Chris Osgood,
multiple cups, wins,
some of the things that we think the criteria
is. I just know,
for example,
Carrie Price
was the best
at his position
for many years
in my opinion.
I don't,
I can't remember
saying that about
Alex,
Alex McGilney.
Like, I think he was a great player,
but I never was like,
he's the number one player.
There should be criteria to it.
I just don't know what the criteria is.
I think I told you guys.
In place of the Leafs,
McGilney did.
Yeah.
Took a while.
Yeah.
Rob Volman, I don't know if you guys know, Calgary guy, so analytics guy, he has a great formula in one of his books.
And it's what he believes kind of from an analytics standpoint, what a guy is a Hall of Famer of.
And he's pretty bang on.
It was funny.
He said, like, the guys who had like 99 out of 100 points were like, it was Roanick, it was Kachuk.
It was, and it's the guys who are on the cusp of that are, he said, yeah, obviously, you know, Scott Neidemeyer and.
you name it, Bobby, or those guys, but he said like the borderline ones, there should,
there's a formula, and he had it.
They were the captain of a team.
Did they win a major award?
Like, he has this formula.
And he was pretty bang on in his assessment.
And that's why, you know, it's all subject to argument outside because we're all going,
what the hell do you have talking about in that room there?
And the other thing is Bernie Ferdurko's in there and Rogi Vichon get in after like 40 years.
and you're like, there's a lot of guys better than those guys that aren't going to get in.
What are you doing?
Anyway, we'll move on because you got to go.
But before you, because you talked to, go ahead.
I have, what do you want for your birthday?
I don't accept birthday presents.
You don't, because we were talking yesterday that we should get Jamie something nice.
We're going to put much for us.
I don't.
So that wasn't the point.
But because you brought birthdays up, we want to send you something like a big prime rib or a,
like a T-bone steak?
Like, what could the noodleer use?
Caesar's garlic cheese toast.
Oh, we're netting this out.
I will be there, though, a gentleman.
I will be in Calgary for some business.
Yes.
What is it, July 5th?
Oh, Steve.
Yeah, there's that thing going on.
Business my ass.
I'll be there for a couple days.
And just quickly before you talk about you kind of,
you're an entrepreneur and you're into data
You know, you're well read.
You're a smart guy.
Do you also kind of, are you looking for deals?
Are you like a bargain hunter?
Are you thrifty that way?
I try to.
I mean, depends on what we're talking about.
Thank.
Okay.
Well, you're coming to Calgary.
And I saw this on Facebook Marketplace.
I'm not sure I could maybe.
Oh.
20 bucks.
You know I make those, right?
Your mom does.
We've lost.
No, but I made a bad.
the other day and the kids were so excited about it because I followed the instructions to a T.
I don't want to say who it was, but there was somebody on our show two weeks ago and he said
you brought some to work and it looked more like shit than it did like dessert.
That really hurts my heart.
It's been hot out there.
They melted.
They enjoyed it.
I didn't.
I warmed him up in my pocket and handed.
Who said?
Was it Darren that I gave him to?
Well, we didn't met something.
I mean,
I thought it was.
It's not a name of names or whatever.
Listen,
they were very good.
And you know what?
He should be lucky that I made them for the whole crew.
Okay,
well,
you know what?
We'll spot the 20.
If you want me to go,
we can probably grab them up for you.
July 5th,
we'll have.
Nothing goes good at Stampede,
like hot weather,
cold beer and melted marshmallow squares.
Or the cheese toast from seasons.
That's true.
Birthday in five days,
by the way.
Well,
when is?
Who is this?
Yours?
No.
No, June 30th?
I read this wrong.
I think that's a misprint on Wikipedia.
James Joseph on,
somebody put my name as James Joseph McLennan on on Wikipedia.
My nickname or my middle name is not Joseph.
JJ.
JJ's off the center.
Go on JJ.
It's just weird.
Like, Wikipedia, you could just write whatever you want.
Whatever you want.
Jean-Jacques and Frankie J.J.
Actually talk about this.
Yes, June 30th, 1971.
We should start
screwing with people, the two of us, on
Wikipedia, just random
tidbits of...
Exactly.
First man in Saskatchewan in space.
Yes, you could say that
you're like Dr. Evil.
You invented the question mark.
You just...
Right?
Like, that's what you could do.
That's what you could add to your Wikipedia page
just random things, you know?
Thank you.
Thank you, McLennan.
get out of here god love you yeah all right guys we'll see you see us yeah crystal waters plumbing and
heating your crystal clear choice for home comfort that is the insider hotline crystal clear
calgary dot com 403 219 4100 is the number to call i like getting emotional and irrational
when i talk about the flames and stuff like that and then somebody that cools it down and
just approaches it with some is that what he did it did cooled you down no it's interesting point
that sticks with me the most,
how many teams think they're worse next year than this year?
In the whole league.
This year's point total,
but worse.
Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh finished like eight from the bottom,
ninth from the bottom,
80 points.
I know,
so it won't be a high team because anyone from one to 10.
If you're in,
you think you're getting better,
we're in a tweet.
One to 10 is we're winning the cup.
10 to 20 is we're making the playoffs and trying to make a push.
Vancouver's like,
oh, look, we got rid of JT,
we got Brad Kay.
We're going to be wrong,
but they probably think they're going to be better.
Ditto the Rangers.
We got rid of all guys that didn't, we got, we're going to be better.
San Jose thinks they're going to be better.
Nashville's like that was a one-year blip.
We're going to be better.
Philly, we're going to be better.
Can I just not to interrupt you, but the Rangers one, it's too, it's too easy and too obvious.
But have they done some of this stuff with in the back of their mind going if Conner, if Conner is available?
Well, caps.
I'm safe.
I know.
That's what I'm saying.
Sure.
but like they're a big enough market and a big enough player where they can go
that guy.
Gabrikov probably goes there in the world.
And Aaron was a big free agent signing.
They don't have a problem getting Americans to come play there at top dollar.
But to his point, like everyone is like we're going to get better.
And to your point, well, yeah, but there's still only X number of players in the league.
The talent pool is what?
Like is one team giving away all 50 players that's going to help the rest of the league here?
Vancouver.
that's what this is we're going to bring in avander kane it's going to make trading quinn hughes easier
we're going to be bad win the draft lottery bob's your uncle that is not what they're
they're playing they're they're they are not a chess team they are check no that is no yeah that's
but it does it does remind you that if you just have a couple things not go right for the cavalry flames
maybe a top five to ten pick isn't crazy especially if you move or
I you have but remember what happened in major league they didn't bring in any good players this guy here is dead and all of a sudden ricky vons throwing heat it's because they were showing the owner jake taylor
titties wasn't it that's what that was the payoff you got to incent the guys but then they started winning and then
old uh lou brown the manager he's like he got him going what we've done is a win one more
three, that's a streak.
That's right.
It has happened before.
Yeah, I don't know.
I mean, it's an interesting point.
Someone's going to be bad.
There's going to be some bad teams that will finish in the bottom five, six, seven.
Maybe it's my mindset and it's a glass half empty or full or whatever it is.
But I do.
My biggest fear is to carry on as we have for the last 20 years and your goaltender's doing good.
And you're in the thick of it.
Prepare for it.
Do you never get.
They've never picked in the top three.
Ever.
So I would say brace yourself for a year where they're going to be Mocky Middle.
It's almost the exact opposite.
Sorrow.
But it's still sorrow that the Buffalo Sabres are terrible.
They've tried the rebuild.
Always pick up.
The flames are kind of, no, we're always in it.
We're not turning out for anyone.
It's going well.
for Florida. They've done both.
They've been bad, sold off players,
picked high, picked first overall.
Trade all the firsts, whatever. Yeah, they've...
What you want is the life cycle, where you get bad and you get good
again. What you don't want is the plateau of
mediocrity. You don't just want to be
steadily kind of okay?
Correct. Okay. Which is what
they've been for 20 years. But, and they don't pick eye,
they don't pick eye. Sam Bennett four,
Sean Monaghan five, Matthew Chach, Chuck, six.
They will, but they need a couple of years like that.
They were good. And it's kind of crazy and a
It's insane.
Yeah, and they've had no draft lottery luck.
The number of times they've been one ping pong ball away from moving into spot whatever.
It's never happened.
Yeah, like the evidence and all the others are picking the top three.
I think the next.
This franchise has never done it once.
And again, every year you get excited about, not every year.
Badard, Pomp's as a first over, like teams are like licking their chops to get this guy.
Celebrating.
This is going to be.
I think there's a couple studies.
coming big time are collect your lottery tickets in the next two I answer that what's it's a
you're live and on the air big earn oh what's up big boy not much what are you doing just going to grab
a coffee actually you so you're coming to town when can we get you on yeah so I come in the second
but I get in like my flights at 11 a.m here the third I'm kind of
slam i'm doing the cowboys
fucking yeah
Friday
Friday afternoon
Friday's Friday
Friday's great Friday before we go to Mercado
oh baby
all right let's do Friday
Friday works
yeah yeah
it is Friday it is
Marta loop
I'll read it after you can take
Retz mic down I'll read a thing
Jackie okay wait wait
before you go
what do you think about that
Evander Cain trade
So what was the trade?
What did he get traded for?
He went to Vancouver for a fourth.
Those guys are fucking crazy, bud.
If you're going to give that Bouchard 10 and a half million,
you've got to be out of your fucking absolute mind.
I would move him.
I would, too.
I would move him because that contract,
it's a darn all nurse 2.0.
In two years, you're going to want to hang yourself over there.
I love it.
I thought that guy was a liability in the place.
playoffs to be honest yeah like the marshan goal like the overtime winner the breakaway like
we lost this fucking guy see you friday i think they're trying to freeze up or free up space
for for that for that contract well like for guys like us we're like yes do that sign that guy
sign bush because of course of course yeah i think i i and he he's not taken less than
fucking darn all nurse.
No.
First makes nine and a half.
You don't take it less than that.
Nope. All right.
I mean, I just
thought I think that's going to be a
massive mistake. First of all,
you shouldn't be looking to move anything
or sign anybody until you figure out what's going
on in the net. That's your biggest
need. Because those goalies
are fucking terrible at the end
the day.
If the oilers had, if the oilers
had, did they hang up?
just think if uh just think if the fucking oilers had dust and wolf they'd win three cups in a row
right i agree we can't let them we can't let them have that nope no can't go i think the van
i think the canucks are going to be in a couple years of a downward spiral but as much as he
want to see evinton not win i fucking can't stand vanc of the of the two teams i hate vancouver more
Something happened there.
You want to see them fucking suffer all day long.
I think the Canucks are going to be in for a tough stretch coming up here the next couple of years.
I know what?
As much as a Vander Kaine is, kind of a clown off the ice, I've always thought he was an exceptional player.
Yeah, he's got skill sets that guys don't have.
He's gone.
It's just, it's just the, no, the off ice takes away from that.
Yeah.
But he's in a one, for me, he's in a 1% skill set, that guy.
and I think he's only 33
you know you get kind of lost on
how long ago
I guess the plan since he's about 18
yeah
but
all right
and that and yeah yeah
so um
what time
uh
we'll be in touch
well I'll call you
I'll call you after this
we're done our show here
we'll get it
let's chat
let's chat just chat in the next
you know four or five days
just let me know what time
and then we'll make Friday one
all right sounds good
thanks
that won't be boring
people know who that is
I think they do yeah
although Jack didn't know who Big Ern was
no I didn't
Brian McGrath
former Flame favorite
exceptional
remember the salute and the stare
you're like oh that's a scary man
oh my God
he got fined for the salute
come on did he
oh boy
we should find that clip
well we'll have it for the show
We'll have it for when we get them on.
A couple things.
You had mentioned, you know,
Bontan Meets and our buddy, Greg,
they're going under the hood today on our buddy, Greg.
Good, good luck.
No issues.
It's not a big deal,
but Greg is more concerned about
whether he can tailgate for the Stampedeter games.
Oh, I sure hope so.
If he's going to be able to get his big Thursday next week,
big honk and RV out on the road.
So I think a great way to support Greg.
It would be going.
And again, it's, is it a long weekend?
on up. Sure is, Dean. We talk about it. We know what Bon Ton is. I don't know. It's like,
okay, what's a deal? If you're doing something for the weekend, call them. Hi, I have X number of
people. We're doing a cookout outside. Okay, well, let's build something. Do you need salads? Do you need
desserts? Do you need what do you need for meat? They'll put it all together. You go and pick it up.
They'll bring it out on a, like a tray. They'll roll it out to your vehicle. Here's the proper
amount of salad, desserts, gravy,
everything that you need.
And you just go home, it's, yeah.
When?
Win.
That's not on the menu or whatever,
but that's the way you do it.
It's the way you've been doing it for.
That second truck coming in.
There's certain things I do well in life and there's certain things I fail at.
This one I do.
That ain't one of them, yeah.
28 Crowfoot Circle Northwest,
bontan meat market.
It's Calgary and Southern Alberta's Consumer's Choice Award winner for best
meat in deli for 24 consecutive years.
Don't sleep on the meat pies either, people.
Don't do it.
It's AAA Alberta beef, fresh, locally raised pork, free range chicken, turkey, lamb, milk fed veal,
sausage, whatever it is, whatever it is.
So I think that's probably today's, what, Wednesday.
So think about it.
Oh, what are we going to do for salads?
Are we going to go to this place, get a salad go over?
It's all there.
Smart not.
Smart not.
One stop shop, baby.
That's what I would say.
that's what I would do.
But lunch date?
It's kind of like one of those things.
Once it starts,
this is like leaving,
this is now back to back days for the P break.
But if we said,
it's a disturbing trend.
If we were to bring up,
do we want to put a commercial break or like a,
no,
short show today.
That's good.
That's how that would roll.
The,
I guess.
Anyway.
Big earn.
Yeah.
Look forward to that dropping sometime
this summer.
Also, while I was thinking about it, because I've got a thing coming up this summer,
people in from out of town.
Ooh, got to show them around.
And there's people.
And, you know, depending on age groups, you have different types, you know, right?
There's big TV shows on the Generation X and some millennials and all these different generations.
Greta.
Here's, don't, again, don't sleep on Greta because if you have people in from out of town, which I will,
Let's get the group.
So if you tell us, oh, so what is this?
What are you guys up?
It's a place that we're, you know, you have, you know, drink beers or, you know, just have some drinks, play video games.
It's very loud, very, you know, lots of excitement and things going on, lots of activity and woo and bells.
Oh, oh, perfect.
It's for everyone.
You get to leave the house, leave the behind.
go to Greta, get your drink on, play some games,
have a hell of a good time.
And it's guilt free because if old Biddy wants to come with you,
you should.
Invitations there, but I'm betting Biddy,
would rather you guys go to Greta and just have a hell of a time.
Got the street food truck back there,
the alley on the side.
Jack, they still serving hot dogs there?
What's the story there?
I hope not.
I was kidding.
Greta's the best.
I've never not had a good time.
Exactly.
Yeah, exactly.
And you know, they crank it up for Stampede.
It's not that far from Stampede grounds.
Dude, Stampede parties coming from downtown.
You kidding me?
Is it?
Greta.
Arcade bar, street food.
And as you say, never a bad time.
Never a bad time.
Do they feel that way about you?
It depends what time.
Probably not.
Jack's always been good when he's been here.
He's always been well-behaved.
Yeah, maybe.
Did the old technical or yawn,
one of his buddies there.
It's not a move.
Don't do that.
Don't do that.
Check them out online.
Greta,
it is the end of June.
Make them part of your summer plans.
Get out there.
Because there's not many places like that.
It's very unique.
So you've got people from out of town.
You want to show them something cool.
It's Calgary-esque.
Get them to Greta.
It's a nice little stampede matinee stop right there.
Sure thing.
Let's do the Pinder report, a presentation,
of Village Honda
passport.
The brand new passport.
Very boxy, very sturdy, very rugged.
Perfect for Calgary.
Perfect for Rhett.
Ah.
Go get one before he steals it on you.
I don't know what would be perfect for Rhett.
What do you need in a vehicle?
He wants to buy a passport for one of his kids.
I know.
I know. God, they're spoiled.
That's good.
He wants a flying car.
We know that.
He's going to say, that's not a kid's.
I want the.
EWalk Mobile.
Yeah, yeah.
Jet ski in the air thing.
Yeah, right.
It'll have those.
Drop by the lot.
There may be one,
an EWalk mobile.
If not,
hot seller,
you could take a ridgeline
or an accord or a civic.
CRV.
Or an American car of the year.
Take one of those out for a rip.
Village Honda,
located in the Northwest Auto Mall
and online at villagehonda.com.
Ryan Pinda.
All right.
Head to Flames Nation.
We'll rip through the PIN report today.
We are two days away from the draft and the Calgary Flames.
Well, what will define their offseason?
I know we can all guess one.
It's spent a lot of time talking about Rasmusanderson.
The rest up at Flames Nation.C.A.
We are how many days away from the draft?
It's Wednesday.
When is it?
It's Friday.
So that would be.
We're very close.
Nice or days?
Now done.
Our top 20 draft picks in Flames history.
Number one.
Rett's favorite.
item of call
Theo Flurry.
The guy that's not.
Pick ever.
In the raster of the draft.
Or in the hall of it.
Round nine.
Incredible stuff.
Nine.
Dean.
Nine.
Thank you.
Yesterday was a tough anniversary
for Calgarians.
It was 12 years since
these photos were real
because, well,
the bow and the elbow
came flooded saddle down.
I think one of our writers
as Bobby Germany said it was a miracle
that they had this thing open for the next season
I'm on the limb to say that
Look at Stampede Park
They had Stampede, didn't they?
Oh yeah
Come hell or high water
There's the slogan that year
Somehow, some way they did it
All cryablo
I got to skip on my tests that year
Oh, Jack
Grade four
I don't know if I want to bring this up
We'll wait a couple days
Yeah, we'll get that
The cane trade this morning was the big news in the NHL,
the former oiler, shark, saber, and jet is now a current Vancouver Canuck.
He's got one year left on his deal, which pays him just a hair over five million bucks.
The oilers receive a fourth rounder.
It's a bit of a what.
We've talked about it a lot.
Now, here's the reaction in Vancouver that is pretty typical of all Canucks fans,
how they're feeling about it.
We must fix the locker room.
We have a problem.
Get rid of J.T. Millie.
or at all costs.
Also the Vancouver Canucks.
We have traded for Evander Kane.
It's kind of true.
Gotta fix the room.
Fix the room.
I also like this one here.
I'm going to read it to you really quickly.
Going from Brock Besser to Evander Kane is like trading in a golden retriever for a raccoon and a leather jacket.
They did decide not to pay Brock Besser just a little bit more than five a year.
Okay.
See how that goes for you, Aqua Velva?
Keep moving.
Hockey, All fame.
Great phone call yesterday.
Let's do the phone call and then the class.
Well, Joe, it's about time.
He answered your damn phone.
Hey, Joe.
Hey, Joe, it's Lanny and Ronnie Francis here.
I'm going to let Ron give you the so-so news.
How's that?
Okay.
We're trying to figure out what you're doing in November.
But I'll let
If anything involved
hanging with you, Lanny, I'm in.
Edron.
Well, here's Ron.
Hey, Joe, I just want to
let you know that
we're really excited to welcome you
into the Hockey L of Fame.
You were voting in the table.
Holy doodle.
Holy doodle.
Holy doodle.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
I'm shaking.
Thanks, boy.
Holy moly.
Holy doodle.
There's Joe, Jumbo Joe getting in, which you love,
one of the most beloved teammates in the history of the league.
I like that he threw out the F-bomb and then softened up with the Holy Doodle.
Yeah, that was a whoops.
I'm going to go ahead and come in on the other side to even it out now.
Holy Doodle.
The longtime coach of the Boston University Terriers,
Jack Parker gets in, Alex McGillney, after a long wait,
Duncan Keith, who won everything.
Olympic Golds, Norris's, Stanley Cups,
Brianna Decker, Jennifer Botterill,
and Big Z's, the Dano,
the project that started in Prince George,
Islanders, Ottawa,
and all he was unbelievable in Boston.
Maybe the greatest free agent signing of all time.
Joe Thornton, first overall generational player
was 26 when Boston decided,
your 33 points in 23 games are not cutting it.
We must trade you for Marco Sturm.
Marco Sturm.
I still,
Brad Stewart.
That trade.
I'm sure there were ones before, but that was an eye-opening trade because it made me understand that this league is idiotic.
Anyone can get traded.
Well, and not just get traded.
Are you telling me that if the rest of the league knew Joe Thornt was available, they couldn't have done better,
or that was their best analysis of the trades that were being offered?
This is the-
Wayne Primo, Brad Stewart.
Marco Sturm some bit for one.
Here's some parts.
What?
Now on the flip side, the Bruins would go and win a cup.
Joe never did.
Right.
But if you're doing the thing the Oilers fans are doing, how many series.
Sturm and Stuart.
I know I help them win the cup because I don't think that was the.
They did it again with Tyler Sagan, which is wild.
Like it's.
I just mean that there's trades all the time, trades that you see in your
like, well, that doesn't make sense.
And it's like, well, yeah, it doesn't.
When Darrell traded.
Yes.
What is happening?
There were other GMs that so I didn't know he was available.
I would have given you way more.
Who said that the other day?
There was a,
it was just this week.
Who got traded?
Zegris.
Yeah.
Did we not hear what?
Who did we have on that was like, well,
Frank.
Yeah.
Frank was like,
there were other GMs that I talked to.
They were like, oh.
That one's a little, because you knew Segris has been
out there for a couple years.
And it's been shit for a couple years.
Like this was the first overall, like this is Joe.
And he was starting to produce.
Dude, he's over a point of game there when they just.
This rookie season is terrible.
Wasn't ready.
He'd scored 37, 36.
Oh, 23, 22, 23.
With all the assists, you know, he's a better playmaker than he was a goal.
That's a crazy thing.
He played 1714 regular season games.
Jeez.
Scored 430 goals.
How many assists?
1109.
Oh, right?
So it's,
wow.
Big playmaker,
that's 1,700 and then 187
playoff games in there as well.
1,539 regular season points.
And as you said,
one of the most beloved guys in the league.
You've just listening to answer the call.
You're like, this guy's a beauty.
Holy doodle.
Everybody loves Joe.
Rack got very mad at me yesterday
because we showed you the new blues jerseys
without showing you the old blues jerseys.
How do you do comparison?
So today we're going to show you the, I'm just kidding, I'm side by side.
There you go.
Look at that.
Mike Gould is offended.
It disturbs them to his core of the changes they've made.
I don't think they should.
I like fine.
I like that light of blue.
That's great.
Get rid of those stripes.
Sure.
Good.
Great.
Wonderful.
Good work, everyone.
No.
Yeah.
It's a weird one.
I don't, I'm not sure they're going to do anything that's going to wow me.
They're the St. Louis blues.
They wear blue.
So many teams wear blue.
You know what?
They wowed us once and we thank them for it.
Nice offer sheets last summer.
The hell are we to tell them what to do?
Let's check in on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jack.
Aaron Rogers is going out on top.
This will be his last year in the NFL.
Top.
Yeah.
It's winning the whole thing.
Ninety-eight's going to get you there.
He's pulling the Peyton Manning.
Right.
I don't think yes.
So he'll be super ineffective and carried by a great team around.
You know what, Jack?
When we go to watch him,
watch that game in Pittsburgh, then we'll decide then.
Bills, Steelers, week.
Ooh, 13, I think.
Guys, latter half of the season.
Do it.
Do it.
I'm in.
Perfect.
There you go, fellas.
We'll keep moving.
A lot of soccer in the universe.
Last night, it was Canada against disturbingly chippy and greasy El Salvador.
No, no, the half, but El Salvador is down to nine men.
They had two guys get red carded.
Nice.
And then finally, the Canadians broke through to make it one-nil,
and this is not much longer later.
Quite a bit longer later.
That was the first goal.
Which color, are we red or?
We're red because we're Canada.
I'll sell the bird, quiet.
They jump to cannon.
That's lovely.
2-0, your final.
They move into the finals.
Something crazy happened, though.
the ball hit the camera over there.
Do you ever wonder?
Like,
it's one of those cameras
going to get hit?
Flying over getting all the angles.
I've never thought.
I've never wondered.
When you watch football?
There is.
Oh.
Oh, my God.
Next.
Two knows are final and they will now play
what country, Jack?
Zerick.
They're going to play.
Throw the next graph cup and we'll,
it's Jonathan David, nice goal,
but bad penalty kick, but good goal.
They're going to play.
Gua
Gua
Guatemala
he nailed it
not Guam
Guatemala
very good
winner like they get
the Americans
gold cup
blah blah blah blah blah blah
I know you want the brackets
so I'll share the bracket
soccer report's awesome right
how much soccer
oh there's a lot more
something incredible happened that we have to show
I don't know
so there's a bracket okay now we can move on
FIFA World Cup's going on, club World Cup.
What is the?
So this is club teams from around the world playing each other.
Next.
We've been crushing these in our bets.
A team from New Zealand where guys don't make enough money where it's their actual job was playing Boka Jr.
One of the biggest clubs in South America.
They tie it up there.
It's a one one draw.
Auckland City from New Zealand.
They're going nuts.
I hope this gets us pulled off you too.
Me too.
This will be the thing that will one.
wipe out. Lovely. So let's
go to the stats here real quick. This is
funny. Shots were 20 to
3. Oh, 41 to 3.
Excuse me. On target 10 and 2.
And here's the jobs that the
players on Auckland City
actually have because they're not good enough at
soccer to get fully paled. You got
a realtor.
You got a... You find interest
in some weird shit.
One of these guys played for Calvary a few years ago.
Meyer Bevin, the striker.
Community program leader,
physiotherapist, pool cleaner.
The goalie's a pool cleaner.
Remember when Iceland went to the world?
If you're the right pool guy in the right house,
his pool are you cleaning?
Wow.
Okay.
So a bunch of scrubs playing part-time football.
Who the fuck are you to call these guys scrubs?
You're a pod.
Careful.
I'm a scrub for sure.
You realize that they're not making enough money for football.
They have jobs.
That's the only thing that we're pointing out here.
It's amazing that they tied Boca Jr.
We're giving them the props.
We don't understand any.
Next, hell your daughter.
Next, we haven't heard anything from John Gurd and a while.
Let's check in.
See what's going on with Gris.
A while back, I was in St. Louis, and the Cardinals were 14 and 19.
So I got my rally necklace.
I put it on my neck.
And guess what?
The Cardinals won 90 straight games.
And now they're 43 and 36.
Three and a half games out of first.
and the Cubs are in town.
And the first 20,000 fans, they get their own rally necklace.
And we're going to put it on the Cubs, and we're going to close in on first place.
So tomorrow night, I get to throw out the first pitch, and the first 20,000 fans,
they get their own rally necklace.
Me there, Wednesday night, if you're sitting behind home plate,
have your head on a swivel, because I could throw a rocket.
It's a little off target.
Love you.
This guy's energy is, I don't know.
I don't know what it's incredible.
Is he a St. Louis guy?
Yeah, because he was supporting the blues in the playoffs.
Remember that, you know, when he was,
the Jets, you better watch out.
Jets.
They brought him to the game.
Bittington.
And now he's throwing out the first pitch of the Cardinals game.
That's awesome.
It's nothing for this guy.
But he loves it.
It's not nothing for him because look at what he cares about.
He's amazing.
No,
so the Cardinals are good.
He was just explaining bad start,
but they're good.
Who's the team that's been bad like all year?
Cubs.
Oh, the rocks. Yeah, here we go.
Forest Field in Denver, Colorado, asking Rockies fans, how's your team doing?
I'd rather tie a steak to my balls and run through a pack of starving dogs than watch this shitty baseball team.
Honestly, I just come here to get piss-ass drunk with my buddies, pop a couple Zins, and hit on some milfs.
I'm just here for the loaded tater tots, and this is my fifth one, and it's only the third inning.
These are so gas.
I like to come here in spandex pants and show off my moose knuckle,
drench myself in perfume, and take cute boys back to my hotel room.
This team is complete dog shit.
Did you hear the Rockies don't have a website?
Is this a guy?
There's no way this is one thing I love to do here is rip a few blinkers off the old geek bar.
Get completely faded and start yelling at basketball people.
All right, guys, that's it for today's video.
drop a comment on what stadium I should go next.
I think you did great.
It's not a good team, but they're making the best of a team.
I think you should follow, have her on this.
I'm looking forward to her next report.
Yeah, she's getting some really candid answers.
I'll tell you that.
She's the trepid report.
Let's skip 90.
Let's go right to 91.
Why are we skipping 90?
Well, because you're exhausted and totally done with this.
No.
No.
That's all.
Yeah.
When you look at your phone four times, I know I've got to keep moving.
Let's go to this is, Jack couldn't do five hot dogs, right?
Or it was five and a half.
The sixth dog got you.
I did do five.
Yeah, the sixth dog got you.
This guy's going to try to do a little more than that.
Let's take a look.
I am at Philly Boys in Van Nuys, California.
I have teamed up with them today to create the Stans Challenge.
I have 30 minutes to eat six Philly cheese steaks, two orders of Philly
cheese steak fries and 20 chicken wings if i win i get the meal free let's him with that double hot honey
wing now if not it's 180 let's go fix filly cheese sticks they look bigger than a hot though right
let's him with that double chili cheese steak that's big huge he's dying halfway there and he's
Chicken wings were awesome.
A little ahead of his case here.
This could come down on the wire.
Some of the best I've had in my life.
And these tasty, loaded, crunchy french fries.
Make sure you guys check out Philly Boys in Van Nuys, California.
And if you're feeling brave, try this challenge.
Thanks for watching, everyone.
Oh, thank you.
You can watch a full video on your two and subscribe.
The win is I get to feel like garbage.
The losers I'm out, a buck 80 and feel like garbage?
Yeah.
It looked like a good Philly cheesecake.
I'll get them out.
I'm happy to pay for one.
That's,
that's,
I might even do the fries.
Can you go to
band nine and just have one?
I'll just have one.
Yeah.
I'll get the fries.
That look good and I'll have some.
We'll split the fries because I don't want all the fries.
Yeah, yeah.
That's a lot of fries.
Six of those, Jack.
It's a lot.
Got a skateboarding highlight for you.
I know you love this.
Oh.
This is always ending well.
That's how we know these things go.
I don't.
I know the pain for stuff.
Yeah.
Okay.
Good night, sir.
good night sir
a bear season we told
that one of the panthers
or they
is that that cloud
it doesn't look
um
mountain biking
watch out
hello that
let's see
that's great
boy hell
a false
it's big thing when your mountain bike is you're
quiet you're coming so quick
they don't hear you
did you see the bear
who has yourself?
There's afraid of you as you are of them.
Stop, drop, and roll.
That's what you do for when you see a bear, right?
Yeah.
Now, one of our avid listeners from Texas sent us this.
He asked, are we still doing the,
oh, no, this was going to be the last one, sorry.
He is in Groves, Texas with the world's largest pecan.
Or pecan, depending how you pronounce it.
Right.
Said, are we doing this anymore?
I said, no, we're done with these.
They're too boring.
Well, wait now.
You're jumping the gun.
This is a summer activity.
This is the road trip.
That's right.
So please send all your submissions to Dean and Jack for the world's largest blank on your summer road trip.
And honestly, just as a word of this is as interesting as the list of jobs.
It's a pool cleaner, right?
It's a goal.
Do we have the bracket, the soccer bracket?
That's Guatemala.
No, I deleted it.
Oh, all.
Panama Guam
A Guam.
Ever been there?
Final final challenge?
Oh, you're not done.
Would you, there's pain here.
Would you let a pro darts player
try to hit an apple in your mouth of the dart?
This guy's all fired up.
He's convincing himself to me.
Who is this?
Very, very confident.
I don't know.
Trapidation, rat.
A professional?
Yeah.
You're talking by the gut and the tattoos that he's a pro.
He's not.
You're not throwing that when you're shaking like a shitting dart.
He's going to say, is there going to be any...
Palms over the eyes in case the darts a miss.
The road is nerds.
Put it right in his pouch.
Hey, longest clip ever.
It's just like waiting for the roller coaster to drop here.
But the payoff.
Oh, it'll be so good.
It's going to be worth the wait.
It's actually just put back to the list of jobs, Jack, if we have that.
We really get to get through that.
Okay, you're ready?
Let's do it.
Oh, my God.
Oh, geez.
Last chance.
I love that he did the handflip.
Jazz hands.
That's the best pinn report we've ever done.
It's Wednesday, June 25th.
Tell your friends.
and hopefully the last.
Huge selection of pre-owned vehicles,
all makes, all models, all budgets,
over 90 units on site,
access to more than 500 more inside the dealership group.
It's why Village Honda is your one-stop automotive destination in Calgary.
They are worth a trip, Northwest Automol.
And they probably wouldn't care if I sit,
slide up there, and then on the way.
Up to village?
Up to village.
And then on the way of your bonds run,
spend the village get a new vehicle you're going to be pumped to oh yeah who's that baby by
bontone yeah use all that uh amazing cargo room in the back there load up all or the other way
slide in on the way up there yeah it takes some to anthony he'd like sure nothing says butter him up
i love you bud then potato salad we got to send noodle something jack what are we sending him well he's
coming here his birthday's the 30s
Did you miss that?
You're the fifth.
Are you okay giving them a gift six days late?
Well,
we're not.
Why are you guys asking?
So the guy that comes on and carries you for hours at a time.
And you're,
well,
we're going to be put out because we're going to.
In fair,
in fair,
I just thought maybe you'd give,
I've got your gift,
but yes,
you would certainly the thing to do would be to send it.
So that it's there on time.
Sort of like the other guy we did like a,
this is,
you know what?
This is the problem.
You guys want to half-ass everything.
You don't fall through on the details.
How's that Frank Scotch bottle coming?
Jack has...
He hosts me on that deal anyway.
What was that?
He knew he already talked to the
frickin' commissioner of the league
that they were canceling and moving the game.
