Friday is Hawaiian shirt day.
So, you know, if you want to, go ahead and wear a Hawaiian shirt and jeans.
It's also game day, dude.
Oh, well, yesterday was game day.
I just want a good game tonight in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I don't want any more broken water mains.
Can you pee at this, if you go to the stadium, is there a game at McMahon tonight?
Can you pee?
Yeah, the dump is hosting the Ticats.
Bo Levi Mitchell, who you told was selfish.
and really trying to go for himself.
I didn't say selfish.
I said,
I'm a loser.
No, no, I didn't.
It wasn't.
He was going for the glory.
The glory.
Going for all the glory or something.
Yeah.
You remember this, Dean, right?
I do, yeah.
Yeah.
Was it football draft?
It was fantasy football.
We had the chat going.
So we've got Bo Levi Mitchell
in our fantasy football draft,
the media hacks league,
because he was doing a show
on the station at the time.
We had some other folks in there.
and within minutes of the Grey Cup ending
on a O'Levi Mitchell interception,
Rhett jumps in the chat and says,
Hey, Bo, you really blew it going for the glory there at the end.
Or it was something.
I don't know if he said, hey, Bo.
I just think he said, look at.
Oh, look at all the glory.
And I don't know if you remember that he was in the chat,
or if it was just one of those things.
You know what, Rhett's going to tell you how it is, how he sees it.
He's not going to sugarcoat shit.
It's weird because people could pick on me for losing three cups.
It's fair game, but as soon as I take a jab.
It was fresh, though.
Too far.
It was fresh.
He would have still been on the field.
Oh, yeah.
Got him back to his phone.
I did.
I thought it was hilarious at the time.
I thought I was really on to something.
Yeah.
I had some good yucks to myself.
I woke up in a cold sweat.
Really?
You got a case of the guilt?
Yeah.
Oh boy.
That's bad.
Too soon.
A little soon.
The wound was still bleeding.
Sorry, Bo.
Go ahead and kick some ass tonight.
Yeah.
Go get him.
Good luck tonight.
Against Ralph.
Now it's game one.
Is he hurt yet?
Ah.
You get hurt getting on the plane or getting off the plane?
You're usually on the injury report, not me.
That's always the,
I haven't checked.
We love you,
we love you,
Bo. Have a great year.
Go get them.
Yeah, sure.
Why not?
Yeah.
Tough starting.
Are we talking CFLs that we're doing?
Sure.
I don't know.
What the hell?
Starting our hockey show with,
if the NFL,
NHL wants to take a week off
between the third round
and the Stanley Cup finals,
is what's going to happen.
So, yeah.
We are another day closer to getting hockey going,
though.
How do we feel about that?
Are we excited for tomorrow?
I mean, yeah,
it'd be better for us tonight, again.
I'm going to be right hammered by 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
So 1 o'clock your time.
Oh, good.
What's the music fest?
The East Aurora.
Music Fest.
Can we get a lineup, Jack?
The East Aurora Music Fest?
Oh, some hard.
We're going to see how many bands read can name.
East Aurora Music Festival.
I don't know if that's the official name.
Well, you Google that.
You'll get something.
I'll get some.
I'll go.
East Aurora.
Whatever you got.
There's one band I want to see.
I got the golden ticket.
I'm in.
You have VIP?
I don't know if it's VIP, but it's a golden ticket.
Only 1500 sold.
Thank you very much.
I'm going to say dollars.
I was going to be really impressed.
Wow.
I'm going to, I think the plan, I think it's been confirmed.
But when we're back home in the, in the homeland.
Yes.
Every, this goes back to when I was younger, it was country fest,
which was much like Craven, Big Valley Jamboree or whatever was
And a lot of the same acts would kind of cycle through.
So they'd stop the first week.
It was one weekend and then the next weekend was,
was in Sask.
Oh, do you have the line up there, Jackie Boy?
Before I start to blathering away.
How about something altogether different?
The whoop-dy-do, East or all the music fast.
Yeah, Dave Matthews cover band.
That's, they're leading off.
Oh, never been.
The classic ring.
Steinberg's flying in for that.
Yeah.
For sure.
Yeah, he's not in the band.
22 caliber.
I think we've heard of them.
Should we guess
who you're excited to see out of this group?
Hints of Thunder.
Is that Rupa Hintz's band?
What are you got?
Is it a funk nights?
Is it a one day?
I don't know.
Like did it start today?
Boy, there's a lot of venues here.
Well, it's a street fest, really.
Davian Goliath?
The brass machine.
Grateful dead tribute band.
Brasshole.
The brass holes.
Three to five at the blue-eyed baker.
Yes.
I didn't know they were there, but I'm more excited now.
I bet you brass hole has got a large horn section.
Oh, the strictly hip are playing somewhere.
Oh, is that what a day?
There we go.
Now it's all making sense.
All coming home now.
Yeah, I got it.
I got it.
I hope they're playing.
Oh, they're playing.
Wouldn't be the first time we.
Oh, there it is.
The strictly hip.
Seven till 8.30, classic rink.
And you're going to be blitzed by three.
Oh, me and Hoyler. I might get on upon stage.
We might just duet.
Shirts off for Kippersoff, Red.
We might do some hip cover in a duet style.
Huh.
Kenny and Dolly.
So now this is a hip tribute band.
They played your wedding.
Yes, they did.
In Calgary?
No, sir.
Never got married in Calgary.
Still.
Vegas.
couple times.
Defino.
Yeah, which marriage
was it?
Was it,
because I know they've played
a lot of your gigs.
It's the one that hasn't been
an old,
that's correct?
The one that's still,
yeah,
hanging on.
Thriving.
And they,
they're tremendous.
You're a mass,
Mahusa fan.
I'm a big fan.
It's good.
I like them as well.
I like the hip,
and they sound like the hip
and do a wonderful job,
but they also do
country cover.
How about that?
Some real good country cover.
How about it?
Man, you feel like the Grateful Dead
Dave Matthews and the hip.
There's going to be people trying to be as good as them.
That could be a banger of a mess.
Now, before you show it there, Jack,
now when I was young, teenager, high school years,
the summer, a lot of it revolved around Country Fest weekend back home.
Who's going, where are we going, the whole thing?
Then I got my first radio gig, country music station.
All of a sudden, I'm backstage.
I'm doing the interviews.
I'm bringing them out.
I'm like, hey, let's get off your feet for a whole whoopty do here, you know, whoever it is.
And so it was big, but then, you know, things move on.
You move away.
You don't get back as much.
And I don't know, because COVID and everything, it kind of, I don't know if it looks like it was going to be shut down.
You just not going to be able to do this anymore.
Dang.
Well, take a look.
This is more for retro than anybody else.
Somebody of my age group.
Take a look at what's coming up at this year, at the, at D.O.
and Country Fest.
Oh, Friday night, you got some Clint Black,
some Carolyn Don Johnson.
Keep going there, Jackie, boy.
DJG.
Michelle Wright, take it like a man.
Doc Walker, Manitoba, Great.
Jason McCoy.
Hey?
Of the road hammers.
And then it gets, you know,
no offense to these fellows,
but gets a little bit thin as you get earlier on in the day.
All right.
Now on to Saturday night.
Get ready, Rhett.
Alabama.
Still giving her.
Alabama Diamond Rio.
Yes, sir.
Larry Stewart of Restless Heart.
Patricia Conroy, she's a Canadian songstress.
Lisa Brokeop.
She's great.
Beverly Mahood.
Some Canadian country royalty here.
And then you get to Sunday.
And again, buckle up for the nitty-gritty dirt band.
Oh, wow.
Shut the front door.
So Joe D. Messina and Mark Chestnut.
Too cold at home.
Bucke.
Bob a shot in Junebox last night.
God damn right. Jody Messina, let's go. Hads Carolina, Tales, California.
I'm all, I'm all right. So are you telling me you're going? You goddamn right, I'm going.
Oh yeah, boom. Hell yeah. I'm going to one of the nights anyway. We got to get some fungus. That'll be a banger.
I think we're going. I'd like to go Saturday, but there's a preexisting event that I need to attend.
So I won't be getting to see Alabama, which kind of hurts. I would love to go to the,
the Saturday show, but I think we're, we're going
Sunday.
Dang.
Go and see some Mark Chess.
Okay, wait.
So it went from, we're going to
Can't go Saturday.
Well, can't go Saturday.
I'm hoping to get there on Sunday.
Going Sunday.
I'm going to try and really,
you got wrangle, try and wrangle for Friday.
Clint Black.
Kill him time.
That's your boy.
The debut album, remember?
Oh, I remember.
Damn right.
Jack, have you heard of any of those fans?
One.
Definitely.
couple of them. Okay.
Definitely a couple.
I'm a big country guy. Are you?
Yeah, you are actually. Yeah.
I usually do country Friday.
For George Strait to come to Calgary.
I don't know if it's going to happen, but.
Too big for Country Fest, I think, Dean.
I thought he was done touring.
He's still going, but you know what? He's like me.
He doesn't leave too far from home.
Yeah. I'm going to like that with the artists,
and I don't give a shit because George Strait could do where the hell he wants.
Yeah.
But we're last tour.
and then they just do shows.
Because then, because didn't they,
he did the last one at the Astrodome.
And then the opener at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
And this is it.
The cowboy rides away.
Yeah, that's it.
And then, oh, he's popping up again.
Oh, he and Chris Stapleton are doing some shows.
Wow, there you go.
You know what I think it is, right?
I think sometimes money has an influence in people's decisions.
Probably does, rightfully so.
And if you're going to spend money, spend it on quality,
people like that.
Yeah.
I would love to see George one more time.
I've only seen them once.
Out of all the country concerts I saw during my stupid radio days,
saw George once, and it was here in Calgary at the Dome.
Oh, boo.
Not ideal, yeah.
I saw George outdoors in West Palm Beach.
That's how you do.
You kidding me?
Remember Billy Joe.
Remember Billy Joe?
Yes, I do.
from the radio there.
They're a big village offense.
I think she was at the AT&T stadium show
and also got to a Stapleton straight show,
which I think got rained out.
And people were very disappointed.
I think George played like two or three songs.
Yeah.
It's not your fault.
It's not your fault.
Well, here we are.
A few things we can get into today.
We're going to have Darren coming up, we think.
also the Pinda Report will do the Great Clips Inbox.
If you've not yet gotten your questions in for the Great Clips Inbox today, you can do so.
Email great clips inbox at flamesnation.ca.
That's a hundred.
Tomorrow the Stanley Cup final gets underway.
Today is the final day of media rounds.
They're doing all the media stuff.
They're getting into it with the media today.
And I had kind of forgotten about something and I guess it's on me because I, you know, my
give a shit meter goes up and down.
today Bill Daly and John, John, no, Gary Bettman are going to be speaking with the assembled media.
As will Marty Walsh, the NHLPA executive director.
So they're all getting together.
They're playing nice these days.
They do joint press conferences and things.
That's kind of a change of pace from what we're in.
Because we were in Toronto for some event, right?
What was that?
And they did.
We were out for the draft and there was a sports marketing conference and Gary and Marty Walsh.
They did a co-hosted hot stove with David Amber,
who looks like he could bench,
Press a Buick.
Yeah, he's in phenomenal shape.
Yeah, phenomenal.
I think he's actually playing lineback for the time.
Does he have legs, though?
Yeah.
Upper body guy, one of those upper body guys.
Or is he's,
his calling card is upper body,
but he hasn't gone full Steinberg.
Well, you don't go full Steinberg.
It's been a little legs, dude.
Congrats, by the way, Patty.
Oh, sure.
Of the topics that they will be
discussing today.
Topics de jure.
The topic.
It's delicious.
Dejure.
The Four Nations
face off.
Yeah, baby.
No one's excited, but I am.
Less.
Yeah, baby, from me, but okay.
Canada, USA, best on best.
We have not seen it since
Sochi.
It's coachy.
New event for the 24-25 NHL season.
The NHL Four Nations
face-off will feature
international tournament play between
NHL players from Canada, Finland, Sweden,
and the United States.
It will take place in February of 2025
in two North American cities, one in Canada
and one in the United States.
The NHL All-Star weekend will not be held
in the 24-25 season.
Dang.
The four nations face-off will consist of a total
of seven games played over a nine-day period
from Feb 12 to Feb 20,
along with a pair of designated training practice days.
How many games did that again?
Seven total, over a nine day period.
So they might have to do a round robin.
And then you would cede and play your finals.
Yeah.
Can't wait for the mid-season tournament.
That's going to be awesome.
Well, it's going to be a year ahead of the Olympics.
And honestly, we've never seen McDavid and Crosby on the same team.
And we've never had like Austin Matthews and Patty Kee on the same team.
I think the best.
rivalry in sport could it have been for the last 10 years Canada, USA and hockey.
We just haven't had it.
It's too bad.
Yeah, unless the U.S. would have just been kicking the shit out of us for the last decade.
But would they have our attention?
Hell yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Right?
Like, that's a rivalry.
You don't go 10 and O and it's a rivalry.
You got to lose some.
What if you go 0 and 10?
Then you want to beat those MFers really bad.
Okay.
But that would suggest that maybe.
No, no.
Then you have a summit.
That's true.
You'd have a summit and everyone would be hand-wringing.
The problem is the people that summit,
they kind of all got shit-canned.
All the summit people?
People that would have put that summit together.
Yeah.
No longer around.
Yeah.
Oh, well.
I don't know what they do.
Either way, you know, it's so, yeah, it's going to be a big,
it's going to be a big deal.
So you think someone's going to shit-can Canada with McDavid McKinnon-Crosby,
one, two, three down the middle?
No, I think it comes, and it's, God, we'll be hearing about it.
I can't we talk about it's the net minding.
It is the net mining 100%.
Stuart Skinner.
Aiden Hill.
He's Canada's, he's Canada's golden boy.
Maybe, yeah.
Why, well, if you can do it a Stanley Cup, can't you do it?
Carter Hart can't play anymore.
If you can win with McDavid, just keep him, right?
So, well, Charter Hart doesn't even plan well.
That's, well, I don't know.
I can't play nice.
This does not excite me.
Extenuating circumstance.
It's not supposed to yet.
That's fine.
Yeah, and the thing of it is whenever you, it's, it's fresh, it's new, it's never been done.
So you have no rich history to bring to the table for.
So if it was called the Canada Cup, you'd be more excited, right?
I would actually.
Called to Canada.
I don't just screw that, but I feel like Larry Bettman or whatever his name was,
doesn't want Canada at the front of this thing.
The four nations face off.
Sounds like something your Pee-wee-aged kid.
It's true.
You know what the real challenges here?
the actual real thing that makes this hard is that because rush is in the penalty box
like what are we doing here yeah are we playing how do you how do you throw a tournament
at the suitina rink is that where this is the four nations face on totally sounds like a spring
tournament yeah are you guys going in that four nations yeah spring break what are you doing we're going on
we're going on a cruise oh we're going to the four nations face off oh my yeah i will agree with you
the name is janky yeah but i'm whatever it's easy you you're going on we're going on a we're going to
You know what it is? It's easy to nitpick.
Is that right, Dean?
To just be negative about things and pick them apart and not offer solutions?
Well, but you know what? In fairness, you're never negative about stuff.
That's true. You're non-judgmental.
I decide if that's good or bad.
Unless it's the oilers. That's not true.
You don't, you don't recognize.
You know, it's like the thing. It's the forest for the trees.
You're too close to the elephant.
You see it as an overwhelming amount of positivity.
But that leads to a staggering amount of negativity when somebody,
disagrees with your positivity.
So then when you spin it back, you're,
you're overly negative about their
opinion on things. But you just see
it as you being positive in favor of your
opinion. I'm struggling with that.
There's a lot of words there. That's a lot.
You're a dick. Thank you.
Sincinct to the point.
You're a saint. Thank you. You're a dink and
don't know it. That's so there, there is
that. He knows it at times.
I know. Oh, absolutely. Oh,
course. He's reminded of it.
I don't know. I don't. I don't think. I don't
think that Ryan gets through many days,
well, days,
but not weeks without somebody
putting them. I think he probably gets to the point
he's like, well, what is that?
I'm going to have to go, smar me. I get called
smarmy and smug a lot. What does that mean? Does that mean
cheerful? Do people want to, do people want
smug and smugmy people in their midst? I think I'm
thoughtful as well.
Try to remember what one of the Flames executives called me
in Abbotsford that no longer works there
and watched up that offer sheet for Ryan O'Reilly.
I can't come up with the word, but it was pretty epic.
Anyway, good work called off the sheet.
And you know what, knowing him?
You're great. You were the best person I've ever worked for.
It probably would have been a good word.
It was, yeah.
I've got his number.
Can I text them?
You won't remember.
He was the word used to describe Ryan.
He was probably being yelled out by someone above him on the org chair.
That's just how it was working back in.
Was it to your face or?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, what was the word?
It'll come to me by the end of the show.
Give us the context.
Well, a man who worked for the,
the flames.
Oh, no, just the, the, give, with annoying the word.
This is the context.
Okay.
Well, I just think that.
They zip in for a couple days at a time to Abbotsford to check on everything.
And they've got meetings all day, hairs on fire, and boom, they're out on the flight the next day.
And I'm sitting in my office, like, preparing game notes and maybe listening to music, just working away.
And door swings open and someone starts reading me the ride, act about something.
And I'm like, oh, okay, well, I'm sorry.
And they didn't really appreciate the tone of my sorry.
Or I said, okay, no.
and they didn't like me using the word noted.
And, you know, it was someone that had been yelled at and then got on the plane and started yelling at people there.
That's how things worked back then.
It was a lot of yelling.
It just, it all kind of.
I'm just like, this is hilarious.
Like, this was a team I grew up cheering for.
And now I'm like, this is the most toxic workplace I've ever been in.
And I've worked with Dean for 10 years.
Like, I got yelled at.
So now you're getting yelled at.
That's no work.
Well, no, I got a downhill.
She goes downhill.
You're going to get yelled at.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, I'm making a lot of money here.
So you probably should be yelling at me.
Yeah.
You should be held to account.
I've definitely been going nine to five.
I'm not working any extra hours with my 115 days on the road this year.
Yeah.
Matt has tried.
Darcy Tucker's brother wanted to hit ping.
I don't think it was Tucker's brother.
It was not.
Yeah.
I was going to say it was not his brother.
It was his brother's friend.
That's correct.
Yeah.
He had a very greasy mullet.
And I asked if he needed to have a shower or something on those lines.
For no reason.
Just a.
You know, spice it up a little.
I'm a dick.
Yeah, you were doing your high-kicking hummingbird thing where you just...
I was by the bar waiting for a beer, to be fair.
The entire room, and you came over and to a very large man who you had just never say...
Never say a crossword to, for sure.
You don't, it's not one of those things where it's like...
And then it turned out he could really fight.
I had no idea.
Not one of those guys.
You know, like a little guy that's really wiry, but all of a sudden's like,
this guy was a bobcat.
crap um no like a big dude who you just don't don't look at the wrong way certainly don't
don't say a crossword uh comes over and a cute it's a geez i could probably use a shower hey
something to this effect when's the last time you've seen a shower no laugh dead pan
at all i was all right uh that was a joke i'm sorry why don't i get you a beer and then you did
I got to go.
And you came back and you drank before a cheers or you didn't cheers when he held the glass up.
And he wanted to know just what the situation was where you were not in a spot to cheers the table.
I think we're standing.
So I don't know that's it.
Maybe it was.
No, you're standing.
It was one of those barrel, barrel things.
But at that point, to your credit,
you did take your leave and did not return.
Yeah, it was a, I'm going to get punched in the face.
We can't build this bridge.
He's wise.
No, he's wise.
Two different worlds.
Yeah.
Two different worlds.
It was against the country.
That's how we branded that thing.
It really was.
That was a group of guys where we went to a brewery where there was an endless supply of beer.
And they walked in and kind of, hmm, that's all I got beer, where they had to make a run to
the liquor store to go get some whiskey.
Yeah, and they just lost in heartbreaking fashion.
It was quite chippy between the city and the country and, uh, they needed some fighting juice.
So it was like, there's just, just beer in here?
Well, it's a brewery. Yeah.
Hmm.
All right.
Get an Uber.
Then so they had the, uh, the bottle sitting outside so they could have a little nip.
But hey, to each their own.
Uh, yeah, so we're, uh, we're getting ready for the Four Nations face.
So I'm very excited for it.
I tell we're very excited.
Marty Walsh, he'll be, uh, tell us stories.
What else is on their agenda besides?
I think we're going to get a Utah question or two for sure, but I don't know that
there's any mammoth or Eddie?
Is that what they're going to ask?
It's going to be Utah and we're all going to be disappointed.
Now our next, our, our guest here, he would have attended plenty of these.
They happen draft weekend.
They happen at the All-Star weekend.
They have right before the event, Gary Bettman and Bill Daly, who I guess is, you know,
carries his bags.
get some bottles of water and sets them up there,
whatever Bill Bailey does.
Dregs has been at plenty of these.
And I got to ask you, drags.
Now, because there is there still an element
where there's some kind of morbid humor,
just kind of, because it's so painful.
And watching Betman, it's like he's spinning plates on sticks.
Like he's a lawyer.
He's done this forever.
We're very excited about the Arizona market.
To talk forever and say nothing is his greatest skill.
Is there any part of it that you draw and like some joy or some pleasure from or is it just all painful?
Yeah, I wouldn't say there's pleasure or entertainment attached to it.
I wouldn't also say that it's painful.
And I do feel like I do have to defend the deputy commissioner of the NIH.
Oh, okay.
Wow.
Because the truth is, as most deputy commissioners, prime ministers, whatever, they do most of the work.
does most of the work. It's not Gary flying over to Europe to close deals with the IOC or the double
I-HF. Anyway, enough of that. I know you're just- So he doesn't carry his bags? You can confirm that.
No, no, I can confirm. He does not carry. Was it Frank Brown?
Yeah, Frank Brown. Frank Brown. Frank Brown. Is he still, he's gone now?
No, no, he retired a number of years ago. John Delapina is there. You remember John?
Yeah. You know, he was an old scribe, I believe, with the New York Times, way back.
in the day. So he's there and he manages a lot. Jamie Horan is another PR guy.
Yeah, it was always a thing because we would have our table set up at the draft and Gary would
come out to talk to Kerr and I. And I would just step aside. It was Kerr's thing. I was very
happy to let Kerr do it. Gary's hair. It was always the thing about because there's TV cameras
everywhere and he's going up on the podium. He's going to be up there all night. You can't,
you have a little flyer, you know, a little kind of an alfalfa thing going.
on, it's no good.
And all we had was like
headset microphones.
So it was either hold the headset
like this because he was not going to put it on.
There was just, that was not going to happen.
Do we have a stick mic?
Then how are you going to hear that sort of thing?
So we learned over the course of time.
Gary can't use the headset, needs a stick.
I can tell you that one of the more surprising experiences
that I've had, more I witnessed with the commissioner,
was again several years ago.
and they used to have the Board of Governors meetings at Spanish Bay, right?
So, you know, guys like me was one of the few times where it played Pebble Beach,
spyglass, Spanish Bay, like top golf courses in North America.
And I'm up early.
I'm out for a walk.
We'd stay at the Inn at Spanish Bay.
It was beautiful.
It's part of the media entourage.
And I'm up early walking along the ocean.
And then I look up and I'm like, it's a guy kind of lumbering, but he's jogging.
Like, he's doing his best coming down the beach and,
It's more of a boardwalk than we.
I don't know.
I'm like, geez, that looks like Batman.
It cannot be Gary Bettman.
It can't be.
And then he gets closer.
In fact, it was Commissioner Bettman with two braces on his knees.
Really?
Like legit Don Joy, like hardcore braces.
Yeah.
And he's out there just pounding it.
I was like, I don't know.
Looks like an offensive tackle.
I had any level of respect for the commission.
Yeah.
He is an imposing figure.
Well, he's going to go.
that far, but I mean, he puts in the work.
He does.
Hey, no shit.
Good honor for doing it.
Now, out of, because just I'm thinking about that, you, I mean, you've had some, some great
spots when you go to cover.
What was the best one?
What was the one on your calendar where it's like, all right, or two weeks away from going
to cover this?
It's about nine minutes.
We do one stand up in the morning.
We do one in the afternoon.
The day is ours.
Yeah.
What was the best one?
That's right up there, right?
Because again, I had a buddy come from out west and join me.
So, you know, we'd play Pebble Beach.
And then the next day, we'd play Spyglass.
And then the next day, Spanish Bay.
And I'm, oh, by the way, I'm working.
Right.
Yeah, yeah.
For sure.
That's right up there from an NHL perspective.
The men's world hockey championship is the boondoggle of all boondoggles because of the time change.
You know, you've got seven, eight, nine hour time change.
You know, the first year I went, I got to think.
back to where this was it.
Well, I know it was in Prague.
I mean, or Paris we've stayed, you know, like we were maybe 150 yards in the Eiffel Tower,
stuff like that.
So, yeah, I've had some fortunate trips, but those boondoggles are over.
You may have noticed.
We don't, we don't do that much anymore.
Weird.
Yeah.
Yeah, the industry is kind of grinding to a halt.
Yeah, as we all sit in our friggin den.
Exactly.
We're all in our shitty little
rooms that we can have in our house
where nothing else needs to happen.
Damn, what else was I going to?
Now, did you, I guess just talk, did you,
how often did you do World Juniors?
Because that's Christmas and that's away from family.
Did you do that?
Yeah, no, I've never had to do it.
That's, you know, one of Bobby Max.
Yeah, I remember the Dregor Cafe,
so that would have been, what, Worlds?
Yeah, that was Men's Worlds.
Yeah.
But, no, Bob still does the World Juniors.
In studio, though, right?
I mean, I'm sure TSM would love to have him and James travel,
but they don't bother doing that anymore.
It's more convenient, Bob, his grandchildren.
So that in the draft, but that's the reason I've never gotten involved.
And obviously, it would be wheelhouse for me.
You know, I go to the Memorial Cup every year, at least for a few days,
and cut my teeth in junior hockey back in the day.
But, yeah, I've always enjoyed taking Christmas off and just kind of lounging around.
It's awesome.
Lazy.
Now, you mentioned junior hockey because you kind of lead me.
me right into it because I wanted to ask you your uh your chronological journey it starts your
tiny can you guys hear that you know what
I think there's a bear in your house you know pretty close she's literally I didn't see if I can
turn this maybe you can have a workout here boy there he is tiny
Oh, I just want to see dad.
When are you done talking to these dummies?
No, well, somebody's clearly at the door.
So is it ball?
Is it Frisbee?
What gets Tiny going?
Not much of anything, really, to be fair.
She's not much of a, you know, you throw the ball or a stick or something like that.
She'll chase it, but she's not bringing it back.
So, nah, it's more of just a walk and just sniffing around the forest.
That's about it.
So I was going to say, so junior hockey.
Now, were you in Dauphin first or did you start in Brant?
How did that go?
We King's?
No, no, I started in Yorkton, Saskatchew.
Right.
Yeah.
GX-94.
GX-94 with the Yorkton Terriers and did a lot of senior hockey and stuff like that.
A little bit of news covering.
First ever, bro.
Yorkshire Terriers.
Let's go.
Really?
Who are you playing with?
Blazers in Saskatoon.
How old?
I was 15.
Nice.
Yeah, good times.
That happened.
back then you you could go to a
jay game or a or a junior a
game and you don't know what was going to happen
that night yeah
yeah so then it's so it's yorkton
you're doing weekings play by play you ship
the tv that's where i kind of
got to see it new of you obviously
before that you're doing uh ckx
then it's winnipeg covering the jets
and then city tv launches
and where do you go edmonton or calgary
edmonton yeah a channel remember that right
with the craigs
It's going to be great.
So one of the most fabulous experiences, so, I mean, they were literally duct taping the
wire in to try and get the Edmonton station going.
And so I negotiate my contract.
And, you know, basically it's a flat wash leaving Winnipeg, CKY to go to Edmonton.
But at the time, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment managed the broadcast rights, right?
So A Channel had the Oilers, which was why I was going in the first place.
And they were supposed to kick in another 25, 30 grand to my deal.
So that was enough.
Okay.
You know, there's a platform.
The Jets aren't in Winnipeg anymore.
I might as well do what I can do to get back in the NHL.
Get there and thereby, and I'm like, okay, well, so do I invoice, you know, Moulson, whatever it was called?
Or do I invoice A channel?
What do I do?
And they both look at me and they're like, well, no, they're paying.
no, they're paying. So I ended up getting shafted by that. So you know what? It actually worked out.
Okay. I shouldn't complain. I spent nine months. You have 30 grand of beer? How'd that end up?
Yeah. Yeah. Well, it was so bad that so, I mean, because you're on TV, you have a clothing allowance or a clothing deal.
So I spent nine months there and they owed me X number of thousands of dollars. It wasn't a lot.
save five grand for clothing.
And I never got it.
So I'm like, all right, well, again, you can just write me the check.
It's no big deal.
You know, in my last day is like July 15th or whatever.
No, no, yeah, we're not going to do that.
So I said, okay, no problem.
Then my last day is tomorrow.
And it wasn't, but it was like they would, rather than pay me,
they just caught me loose two weeks earlier, whatever it was.
It was just insanity.
But so the story I was quickly going to tell when they had the long,
launch party, they had this big golf tent outside of A Channel Edmonton.
And Jan Arden was there to put a concert on and the whole bit.
And the power kept going out.
She'd start a song and the lights would go out.
And the lights would stop.
Like the power would go out.
And she was there to present the concert so that they could launch it.
Like A Channel would go on the air with a flip of the switch at like 11 p.m.
Right.
And power kept going out.
Oh, my God.
It's just, it's classic.
It really is.
But yeah, because they launched Calgary at the same time, right?
Wasn't that kind of how that worked, A channel involved?
Yeah, there was a few of them, yeah.
So, I mean, you were there, but you know that market.
You've always kind of had ties to Edmonton.
You know the, you're going back to the Kevin Low days and you've, so you can appreciate what this means.
And now to watch what's happening there.
I mean, we said,
Here we have some fun.
Oh, that's terrible, whatever.
But if they're not Canada's team, and we can debate that and there's no answer to that,
this means an incredible amount to that city.
It's like the riders in Regina, the Oilers to the city of Edmonton.
Yeah.
It's tough to match.
It sounds like a shot, but there was the Red Mile here and Canucks do their thing in 2011,
but there's some, that oilers, that city is wound right tight for this.
It is. And you guys can probably confirm this as well.
It feels to me like Flames fans kind of obviously are around Calgary, and then they drift west.
So you probably have a good number of Flames fans in a certain chunk of BC.
Of course, there's Vancouver Canucks have it.
I don't think there's as many Flames fans going east of Calgary than there are Oilers fans.
I mean, that could be just dead nuts wrong.
I don't know.
I just know because where I grew up,
Landerberg, Saskatchewan is the home of Kelly Buckburger, right?
Well, obviously, you know, it's a small town.
So, you know, everybody cheered for Bucky when he was with the Oilers back in the day.
So maybe that's why, you know, that the, the Oilers following still remains so strong in that part of the world.
But, you know, I have buddies and buddies kids reaching out to me in the last week.
you know, any chance you got an in on tickets.
It's just insane.
So, yeah, I mean, it's important to the market.
It's important to the organization.
Every organization, that's why you're in it.
Every general manager, every coach, every player, that's why you're in it.
But I don't know that if Edmonton Windsor loses the Stanley Cup final to the Florida
Panthers, we're going to feel differently of how they got there or, you know, what they
have to do in their decision making moving forward to trying to.
successfully defend, et cetera.
You know, that's just, it's one of those things.
They put the building blocks in place and everything kind of fell into the puzzle that's
been built.
And here they are in the final.
It's interesting you mentioned that because I know when we were, obviously, we do this every
day.
And as it was shaping up, it was like, guys, I don't like this.
They got L.A. and round one.
I'd rather they had Vegas.
And then maybe it's going to be Vancouver.
This could be a soft march to the cup.
I don't feel that way right now.
They're full marks.
And part of it is what they.
They, what they did.
And part of it is what Dallas and Colorado and Vegas did not do.
They do not deserve to be there.
They just don't.
Edmondson.
Southpath or not, they deserve to be represented in the last.
They're the team to do it.
I got to tell you, man, I'm disappointed.
It doesn't matter.
I'm not disappointed in the Dallas Stires.
I pick Dallas to beat the Oilers in the Western Conference final.
And for a myriad of reasons, they just couldn't do it.
They couldn't establish their game plan.
They couldn't find a way to protect Jake Ottinger better.
Now, why is that?
is that it has to be a combination, doesn't it, of Dallas not doing what they were supposed to,
but Edmonton not allowing Dallas to do. I guess the one thing that I would say is, you know,
Edmonton had, what, 10 shots in game six, the deciding game. I mean, okay, you had the McDavid
highlight goal to make it 1-0. The power clicks to make it 1-0-0-2-0. But 10 shots,
they're not coming close to beating Florida
if Florida maintains a similar respect
defensively and structurally
because Florida will do what is necessary
to find a way to get to Stu Skinner
in a fashion that the Dallas Stars just didn't seem capable.
We almost sort of said that was a feather in the cap
of the Oilers to play that poorly and still win
and close out a series.
To go 15 plus minutes with a shot
in a deciding like elimination game,
to still win it like fuck that's that tells you that this isn't just two guys um albeit the two guys
are and it's the other things right like the the penalty kill perfect if we were going to
harang about special teams we'd be talking about the power play and stop taking penalties and the
refs need to be their penalty kill their defensive play their shots against it's all been
and it's not been their calling card i'm trying to think when did this start did it start in the playoffs
we were never trumpeting edmunds before all coffee paul coffee
Well, and Mark Stewart, right, Rhett?
I mean, that's, we don't give enough credit.
I mean, the head coach is there for a reason to make that final decision.
But as, hey, look, I get time for Chris Knoblock because he's got a set of gonads, man.
Like, he's made some tough calls in the playoffs.
But Mark Stewart's in charge of the penalty of kill.
And the influence of Paul Coffey is obviously their power, play, defense.
Like, when they made the decision to put Roberg in the lineup in the Western Conference final,
and pull out day or night, that's Paul Coffee making that call.
You know, it's not like Chris Knoblock didn't have any input.
You know, if he put up a fuss and said, no, we're not doing that.
And here's why.
And I'm the head coach.
No, but that's how much respect that everybody has for Paul coffee.
But I kind of grow weary from time to time about the accolades, the flowers that we give to the head coaches.
Of course, that by definition, that they deserve the attention.
but it's like Bill Daly.
The rest of these guys do the work.
100%.
Well, Rhett, like who are some of the guys that you played for?
We've talked about Jim Playfair and how much respect you have for him.
Well, all of it.
Anyone you watch any coach, the guys, what Dregs is saying is bang on.
The guys that are at the rink watching the game,
not that the coach doesn't oversee it or point them in these directions or have a game plan.
Those guys put in hard hours.
time and and they put together a lot of the stuff.
They give the coach the option.
Okay.
We're seeing this.
We want to try this or we can do this.
What do you think?
And the coach ultimately makes a decision,
but those guys just put in all.
They put in all the work.
I'm sorry.
They just do.
And I would not have coffee would be that guy.
And the thing is at the time,
because just because it's probably not fair,
certainly not fair to coffee,
but because they've done the old,
boys club for so long. It's
Craig McTavish, Charlie Huddy, you know,
cycling the alumni
through. I'll be
honest, it felt like Paul Coffey doesn't feel like
to me a guy who's in that coaching
fraternity. He just seems like he's
he's got lots of money. I'd rather
golf. It was a surprising hire
to me. I'm dead wrong.
Yeah. I mean, he did. He has
a bit of a coaching resume.
I mean, you know, OJL,
So junior hockey, tier two hockey.
I mean, keep in mind, Marty San Luis, you know, went from minor hockey to head coach of the Montreal Canadiens.
I mean, it's ingrained.
It's in their DNA, especially when you've got smart hockey people like Paul Coffey and Marty St. Louis.
But, you know, coffee is old school.
I haven't had a conversation with him directly about this, but he's not a coach, and it's weird for this era of player.
he's not grinding the players through video.
Like I'm sure,
Knoblock,
and they'll have special team video sessions,
but Koff isn't sitting down with his defensive core and picking apart.
He has excellent communication individually and with the group,
but it's more with him about eye test and feel.
How does the game feel?
How did that game feel?
I mean,
everybody talks about Miteo Sacco and being a lifeline for Evan Boucher.
and that's that's somewhat obvious because of the way that echo him plays and how that's more or less freed bushard up to be what evan bouchard is paul coffee's had a tremendous amount of influence on on evan bouchard
sure look at the way he plays i mean there could be a better mentor like if bobby orr's not there it's got to be coffee yeah yeah
and paul coffee in his heyday ah this entire career he wasn't worried about the mistakes that he made he wasn't choking his stick because oh i just turned the puck
over. Like that didn't even enter his mindset. He's always been that. It feels like he's always been
that guy. Always that guy. And that's how he coaches. Yeah. Um, I guess. And then on the other side,
this one's hard to, hard to handicap in a way. I know that the, I was looking this morning,
Betway has, uh, the Florida Panthers as a favorite. Minus 1.30 somewhere like that. Somewhere in
that. Yeah. Oilers are plus 1.15. I don't see a dud.
here. I think this
and we've had some. We thought
because we were getting excited. Florida, Tampa
Bay, round one. There's going to be a banger.
We're all and it was not.
Went to pick Colorado. Going to be a banger. Oh man. Load me up.
Nope. Colorado, Dallas. It went
six, but it was kind of a
sleeper. Rhett and I talked about it yesterday.
We were having a chas.
There's been some moments, but I feel
like for all the parody and
how much good hockey
we thought we were going to see, it's
been spotty. Toronto gave us
moments in round one and there was game seven but but i feel like both of these teams they've had enough
rest they're healthy there's no glaring injury coming in this this feels like six seven to me right
across the board i'm with you and if that's the case then it it leans towards a florida panthers right
because that's the m o of florida and they publicly they'll openly talk about that's in wheelhouse
right when they can wear teams down later into the series
how are they going to do that? You know, physicality can be defined many different ways.
You know, are they going to run the Edmonton-Lauders defense on the fortune? Yeah, they're going to try,
but most teams do. That's, you know, that's not unique to the approach of Florida. I think it's
more in how they manage Connor McDavid, you know, trying to slow him down, stand him up on the blue
line if there's an opportunity or Drysidal or Nuge or Zioch or Zioch-Kim and anybody. You know, front of the net,
Stu Skinner has been
he's been allowed to elevate his game
and regain his confidence.
So again, credit to the structure of the orders,
their defense,
that's not going to be the case, I don't think,
because Matthew Gitchuk,
Sam Bennett, I mean, go down the list of those guys
that they're going to take their swings at him
every chance they can, every single chance.
That NEP front should be a war zone in the Stanley Cup final.
I think it will.
And maybe most importantly,
everyone is committed in this series.
You don't get to the Stanley Cup final
unless you're willing to block shots
and do all the cliche stuff.
But when I think of Barkov,
when I think of Bennett,
when I think of Eckblad,
when I think of Foresling,
I mean, I guess you could throw Kachuk and Reinhart
and their top players into this mix.
They seem to relish
shutting down the opposition's best players
as much as they do,
generating offense and scoring goals.
Certainly Barkov and Bennett and Forsling and Ekbud.
That's going to be problematic.
That's going to be problematic for the Oilers.
But it's McDavid too, right?
Well, I think of the two best players in the series.
I have a tough time with anyone trying to paint the Oilers as huge underdogs here.
Those guys could take over games.
Look at game six against Dallas.
McDavid on the power play, one guy in the world can make that play, one nothing.
You only got nine shots after that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And what happens here?
So the Florida Panthers have been, for the most part, fairly disciplined at this point of the playoffs, right?
Again, playing that style that, and I think we overstated.
I think the media in general, you know, has this vision of, you know, the big bad flyers or the Boston Bruins back in the eight.
They're not that.
They're not that.
And they're going to try and impose their will, but all it's going to take is a couple of ticky times.
Hackey calls early on, like just a touch on the hands on McDavid and whoop the arm goes up and
here goes the Euters power play or just a push in front of the net, you know, that little
cross check that they've cracked down on, you know, in the corners and the front of the net.
I mean, if that stuff gets called the way they say it's going to be called, then, you know,
Florida's going to have to tip-y-toe, at least early in the series and that might open things up
for McDavid and company.
Quick pivot.
I know your colleague, Pierre Lebrun, he's putting stuff out all the time, but the most recent,
rumblings, yeah, rumblings.
Rumblings, I saw the rumblings, Marty Natchez.
But I want to start with Jacob Markstrom, that the New Jersey, Calgary thing has rekindled,
if it ever went away for a little bit, whatever you want to call it.
Pierre is saying that Markstrom is still inclined to go to New Jersey if something were to happen.
Does this, I guess, it just feels like this was the fit all along.
He did mention there's other teams that have gotten into the fray.
Any idea of who these other teams or thoughts on who they might be?
Well, I can't imagine the Toronto Maple Leafs have at least connected with Calgary on Markstrom.
They know that they need a more consistent level of goaltending.
And that probably is more to do with Joseph Wolfe's bad luck and his inability to stay healthy.
So they need a guy who can put in 50 games,
you know, an upgrade on that area of the game.
And the history that Tree Living would have with Marchtime,
it just is Toronto willing to part with the assets?
We know that New Jersey is,
but according to LeBron's piece, you know, Fitzgerald also talked about what?
Wanting to change his forwards.
You get something different there,
wanting to add something to his defense.
Well, the 10th pick overall is in play,
but I'm sure Calgary wants that as part of a package for Marks.
Yeah, it would make, it would, it just, it would make a lot of sense because so often you get into these scenarios and Marner would be one of them where the player has the no move and he's going to control everything.
Well, here, there's a team that would like Markstrom and a team that is prepared to move him and the player is prepared to go.
It feels like those are three real and there's tap space.
Like, yeah, whenever we do these hypothetical trade talks, there's usually one stumbling block.
Yeah, but how do they fit him in the cap?
Yeah, but he's got a no move.
All that kind of, I guess if the flames are going to eat money
would be the only other thing, if they're going to two years left on that salary,
there's 10.
It wouldn't have to, but that's a good way to give some value to New Jersey.
We don't want to move 10.
Okay, well, we'll eat too money in a year.
Well, if I'm Fancy, I get that deal done.
Because the one thing that New Jersey cannot do is start the season with a question
mark and goal attending.
You know, he's made some bold decisions.
He just got a contract.
extension mid-season. So he's in good shape as general manager, just played the fire of the coach
card and, you know, hired somewhat of a rival in Sheldon Keefe, who I think is a good coach. But
there's a lot of, not risks, but significant moves that Fitzgerald has already made. But now he's got
really snug up that belt as general manager and improve his roster. And for me, it starts in goal
and it starts with Jacob Markstrom.
I'd be surprised if they don't find a way to get them.
So we talked about this other day.
If the framework can play is number 10 to the flames
and Markstrom to the devils,
and we've got to figure out some other stuff.
Who's saying I need more?
Or are we assuming retention?
I mean, walk us through where is number 10 more valuable
than Jacob Markstrom or would that vary team by team
based on how they value the position?
Yeah, well, look, I think going into the trade deadline
that Fancy wasn't interested in trading the 10th overall pick at that point.
I wouldn't have been 10, right?
They'd be marks him.
No, that's right.
Yeah, yeah, that's right.
But he didn't want to give up that pick.
And now he's publicly disclosing that he's willing to give up that pick.
When I, I'm not a draft guru, but I know this class, I would say fairly well, you're getting a hell of a player, 10th overall.
I mean, you never know what the long run is.
I mean, you're talking three, four, five years.
you know, before you get that NHL established player.
But I mean, if I'm Fitsy and the 10th pick overall is required to get Markstrom,
then yeah, I'm probably asking for a little retention.
By the way, just for context, fellas,
the devils were the fifth highest odds to win the cup this year.
Only Colorado, Carolina, Toronto, Ebington had tighter numbers.
Like the Devils beat the Rangers last year, came back 2.0.
it's the devil's year it's the devil's time like that just the background drop of all the changes
they've made drag it like they have to address this yeah so just a bit off topic we were talking about
gold heading you just tweaked pender you just tweaked my memory on this i had a back and forth with
somebody who's part of a club executive so he knows what he's talking about in the east telling me that
they're pretty sure eager shisterkin is looking for at least 12 and a half and might get 13 i was asked
And the reason this person must have been listening to Toronto Radio.
I was on with Koli Ackable this morning.
And he asked, and I'm like, well, I mean, he's got to be 10 and a half.
Like, he's got to be in that realm.
And this guy's going to the world.
He's got to send me a text.
He was, dude, you're way like this guy's getting 12 and a half to 13.
I'm like, okay, this is going to be fun.
So I would say if you looked at what Kerry Price made when he signed it and you look at his
percentage of the cap, just Thurkin should be the same percentage of the cap.
and with its growth, that puts them in that range.
That's how they, that's how they do the math.
Normally, that's how you do the mouth.
Yeah.
Good times.
Big numbers, man.
Big numbers.
Marking six numbers of a deal.
Oh, but that's terrible taxes.
It's a new congestion tax in New York City.
Yeah, it's so hard.
It's going to chew up a lot.
Yeah.
So hard to get around.
It's a hell out of them.
Yeah.
Get a car deal.
Get a, make sure you get a black car.
I'm sure that's already in the books.
I don't think they need in there.
You buy car deal.
You mean car.
driver. That's right. Yeah, not just the lease. You're talking about it. That'd be me doing,
yeah, you got a car. Okay, when do I get picked up? I don't know what you're talking about.
You've got to go to the dealership, get the keys, and then go and then good on you.
So you wouldn't have, when you're negotiating your deal, you wouldn't have done something like that.
But we'll, uh, so you're going to Edmonton for three and four?
Three, four and hopefully six. We'll see. Right. That's the plan. Yeah. There you go.
You see the prices of some of those tickets, by the way. I read that online yesterday.
thousand bucks piece three oh that's that's that's on the low end i mean early on it's in the 700 i think
there's they're projecting if it goes seven that the highest ticket will be like 19 000 u.s
it's a bit eh probably putting you pretty much at ice level a lot of money to watch them lose on
home ice and have your heart broken tough tough one to get over i hear the thing i've noticed talking to
a bunch of guys like because there's so many emminton transplants in calgary a lot of guys have
season tickets.
Three and four are tough to sell and everyone wants to be at six for this.
And in the prior rounds, I guess what, they were favored against L.A.
all the others, they were lower seated.
But like the first couple ones, it's like, cool, we're there.
But it's like, if I could be there when they clinch, like, I'll pay double what I'd pay
to be at game three.
That drags.
Also, my kid told me that he didn't want to go to any, he's a big Panthers fan.
Right.
And I said, I forget what the circumstance.
this well oh i was supposed to bring him to calgary and i didn't
they said well to take you to the hawk to a panthers game he goes i don't want to go unless it's
the finals so now i'm on the hook so do you think you could get me some tickets
yeah yeah lord will be cheaper with the flight i'm the
alumni i'm a freaking alumni the alumni email came out and said don't bother buddy
honestly oh that's hilarious that's a big rank that's one of the huge i think it's
18 and a quarter there.
Call my buddy.
I was just a little cop and see if he.
I was just going to say call Caber or Roberto or one of those guys.
They'll fix you up.
You know who's working high end in sales there is Sean Thornton,
the former Bruins tough guy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, you know what you could do, right?
Play your media credential.
So you get in and now you're only looking for one ticket for your single.
Just need a single.
Right.
Do we have media credential?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, that doesn't get his emails.
That's the problem.
We're set up wherever you need to go, Red, just let us know.
We'll get it all figured out.
Just walk up and say I'm here.
Hey, we're putting noodles on the air, buddy, so we could probably slide you into a panel at some.
There's a bit of a gap there on the research department.
Yeah, a little bit, maybe a little bit.
So I will let you go.
Who are you taking?
Are you taking Everton or you take it Florida?
Nah, I'm taking Florida.
I mean, you know, I would love to see another Canadian franchise hoist the Stanley Cup.
it's been so long.
I just,
realistically,
I just,
there's too much push
in the Florida Panthers
from top to bottom
and including coaching
whether or not
that matters at this time of year.
It just looks like this team
with their experience
has built to win.
Right on.
Appreciate you.
Safe travels.
I guess depending,
we'll maybe hook up next.
No, no, we'll hook up next.
For sure.
We'll make it work.
Awesome.
Thanks, drags.
Have a good one.
Hey, guys.
Have a great weekend.
TSN Insider, Darren,
Drager joins us every Friday. Good talk with
Dreggs as always.
So yeah, a few things I didn't get into
the Marty Naches because that's a little bit further
down the line. I just, in the, in the LeBron
piece, talking about NACIS,
so that a first and a
prospect or a first and a
player, not going to
get it done. It's like, well, not going to get
it done. I'm, uh, I'm not
in the Marty NACIS sweepstakes.
If that's the case. Yeah. And look, if you're
a contender, that that's the right price.
Your firsts are late and you don't need your
prospects. You probably got a small window to win.
If you're a team that's three months or five
months into a rebuild, what the hell are you thinking
joining in this conversation?
Sorry, and I'm ignorant
about this, what's he looking for
with money? Because if you're a contender, can
seven and a half to eight a year?
Like, has that become an issue too then? I mean, I guess
maybe if you're a contender, you bridge them up
again or say, we'll give you a lower money and get you back
into the market when the cap's 100, no.
But that's, you have to believe that this guy
is the piece. He's taking
up a good chunk of that cap. He's going to have
be a leader.
I don't know. I like him as a
play. I think he's a very good player. I just don't. He doesn't
give me those, those vibes.
Well, and if he's playing on Rod Rindemore's third line and they were a
contender, that's kind of the flying the ointment, isn't it?
Oh, yeah, the skills are nice. Maybe he's underutilized.
Well, why didn't they lean on him more than
12? I feel like Rod wants to win. Yeah. Yeah, they sure did.
Yeah. He has had some good teams. They feel like they're in their window.
Yeah, like who would know nature's better than Rod?
Yeah.
And Don Waddell and Eric Tulski.
I was going to throw this out too, though, Red.
So now we talked about Markstrom.
We can get into it a little bit here.
Flames pick nine.
Devils at 10, Markstrom deal.
Reddit report yesterday,
Kevin Adams, not so tied to that 11th pick of the Buffalo Sabres.
They've got, they've drafted enough players,
they got enough youth, they got young guys.
It's time to make a.
push and get in.
Give me some players that can play now and help us get there.
He has slow play.
10, 11, flames, flames, flames.
He has slow played everything since getting here.
And I'm talking about Kevin Adams.
And we're in it.
And there was a concerted effort between the coach and Kevin Adams,
old Donnie Granato and Adams.
They had the philosophy that we're growing and we're learning and we're growing and it's a
process and we're growing and it's a process and we're learning and we're bringing in
quality individuals and talent.
It's gone on too long.
Yeah.
They should have went all in last year with the momentum they had.
They should have tried to do something big last year.
They didn't because they had a nice push the year before.
The problem with the push the year before that was completely unexpected
and half of it was to do with the rest of the league when they went up against the Buffalo
Sabres were a big deal.
They're sleeping in those games and that happens.
We talked about this two days ago because Teage went to Buffalo in that mock
we talked about.
And it was said, the exact that we read word for word, Buffalo absolutely has this
pick and play.
There's talk around the league that they don't necessarily need this.
They've got lots of young kids coming.
You didn't like the idea of platooning UPL and Markey.
I think it's a similar, like you need two guys in today's NHEL, don't you?
I do, but I think UPL and around here, we're closer to it.
Yeah.
But they like them.
They like him.
They think he can do the job.
So I just, I'm not saying that he wouldn't.
Marks, I just think it's a longer shot.
But that being said, I just
had a conversation with the guy this morning.
He needs to do something.
Because, you know, who's next on the chopping block?
Him.
Him.
The other team that's in their team.
He's been there a while now, right?
They got the Taylor Hall thing going back.
And they do have a lot of youth and kids and stuff.
They're soft as puppy poo.
They have terrible, like, they've got quality
to fair.
but they're terrible in their own end.
And like, well, I already said it.
They're soft as puppy poo.
So, you know, who would they want?
That's the, I was just going to say, usually we can, okay, let's make this work.
On the back end, you've got Dahlene Power and you just traded for Bowen Byram.
They got that Samuelson guy too.
You know, so I don't know that there's a huge need there.
You'd maybe like somebody that's a little bit older.
You'd have an established guy.
Griseled, yeah.
And then up front, like you say, you've got so, you just got, you got a ton of guys.
They're just off the front.
They need guys to dig in and have a little bit of push.
Would you move Rasmus Anderson for 11?
And the context being Rasmus has two years left and then he's a UFA and he'll be approaching 30.
I wouldn't.
No.
Wow.
Wait.
Are we getting 9, 10 and 11?
Well, you're getting 11 for sure.
And then if you get marks from for 10, then you have 9, 10, 11.
The only issue I see with that is that Rasmus Anderson is a good player and he's still young enough and you have no defense.
I mean, I can't answer it because I think it's a deeper question if you are going to look at moving Anderson for that 11th spot.
And I don't know that Anderson's what they want anyway.
I know.
But even if you were, I just don't.
Yeah, I know.
But even if you were, I don't, I would have to look at who's available in free agency as far as defensemen.
because I don't care what they say.
Craig Conroy and Gindler and all the,
they're re-tueling and rebuilding.
But what they don't want is San Jose style.
They don't want 3,000 people at the rink.
And I think the flames fans will come out to watch.
But if yours, that, you know what I mean?
But the thing of it is, you look at what's happened over the last six,
eight months, they're kind of there anyway, right?
If you're trading Markstrom, you've been.
basically stripped it bare. You traded
Hanuffin and Lindhall. You've traded. You've traded
the nucleus of your team. You've still
got some guys, but let's be honest.
If you then trade Anderson away,
does that, does that one move turn it into a
full-fledged tear down?
I might be pick number one or two.
You have to be able to play in the NHL and you don't want to ruin
your goaltender, the up and comer.
Justin Wolf can't be,
even though you can go to him and say, dude, just play.
Don't worry about it. He's,
fuck that.
You're giving up seven a game and you're playing your ass off.
That doesn't feel very good.
Yeah.
And again,
I think they're going to add a D-Men whether or not.
My position on Rasmus would be you don't have to make this decision now.
And unless your socks are absolutely blown off,
you don't make this decision now.
In a year from now,
he'll have one year left at four and a half.
No matter what Rasmus Sarrison looks like,
the best version of himself were last years,
which is not very good.
He's still a steal at four and a half million dollars.
And there's no like, oh, you know, quick, he's going to evaporate and turn to nothing.
You have two years.
Listen, I just.
You just do this up.
You just do.
I'm just looking at it.
It's Buffalo and it's the 11th overall pick.
I would look for something else to be quick.
Or more.
11 plus.
I mean, you're getting a top three defensemen, top two defensemen in the NHL at four and a half million dollars.
That's a huge deal on the cap.
And it's a really good player.
I want more than just 11.
It's not like this is a third.
30-year-old goalie or anything could happen.
Yeah.
33-year-old goalie.
If you get an odd-numbered season from Markstrom, he's no good.
That's what he's been in Calgary.
But I think we're also the more reasonable expectation of what he's going to be.
We're also just playing funnies because I don't know if that's the what, like when you do the Buffalo Sabres build,
if they like their goaltender, they've got four defensemen they like.
Exactly.
I agree.
I don't think Rasmus Anderson is what they'd have circled as far as given up that 11.
pick.
Yeah, I don't know what,
and I don't know that there's anything,
I don't know that there's a deal there.
If,
if not the goalie,
and because they do have
three younger guys already and they don't,
you're not sure,
I don't think a weaker deal makes,
I don't know how that happens either.
I don't think it's defense.
I think they would take a defense,
but I just don't know that that's what they'd be targeting.
I know,
their bottom,
their fourth line is shit.
And now that seems like an easy thing to fix.
And I got to believe that Lindy Ruff's going to come back to Buffalo and know exactly.
Lindy Ruff played for the Buffalo Sabres.
He coached here forever.
He knows what the people of Buffalo want.
They're going to want a little grit.
And I don't think the flames are a dance partner as far as a trade.
God damn it.
See, I was, I just got to try.
You got to just do a three.
Nine, 10, 11.
Bing, bang, bang.
That's the whole Boston Burns thing.
That's right.
And hopefully that it works better.
15, 16, 17.
So, yeah.
There's other teams in that range, though, that'll trade.
Like Detroit at 15, they're at the same spot as Buffalo.
And they need goaltending.
Let's say New Jersey doesn't bite.
I think the New Jersey thing has to happen.
I don't think, here's the problem with Detroit, Ryan,
is that you're going to have to,
there's only a couple spots where Markstrom's going to go.
Oh, that he did waive for.
Yeah.
He's not going to open up to.
I would think L.A.
He'd say yes to, and New Jersey's already said yes to.
and then after that we're kind of...
Where is he from?
Where is he from?
Sweden?
So is L.
from L.A.?
No.
No, but L.A.
is got a lot of things like.
You do the back or around the back way?
Is it quicker that way?
I would think it's Toronto and Jersey
that are front running that.
Yeah.
And look, I think more just the fit of the team.
Like you look at L.A.
You're like,
that's not the issue.
You're right.
Like I say, when we start doing these hypotheticals,
you run into one stumbling block.
It's, well, there's no cap space or they don't want a goal.
That's not a player of position of need or the player's got no trade.
We know he'll go and the flames are willing to trade him and the devils need to help.
Are we at all surprised that it hasn't been announced?
Well, I mean, the draft's the 28th.
So no, I'm not surprised.
Well, they're at the, they're at the combine, right?
So they're all, yeah, that's what I mean.
Like, they're all here.
Yeah, I would think there's two things at play.
one of them is that you've got the runway until the draft to try to squeeze a little more out of the deal.
And secondly, we typically see these big blockbusters after the Stanley Cup.
And maybe you got it close, but you don't finalize out of respect for taking the spotlight away from the league showcase series.
No, I don't know that.
I don't think there's a long week to do it.
But okay, I get it.
Do you think that I don't know that that's been on Conroy's MO, though, the, the first, the squeeze.
I think he's, and I'm just going to, I'll ask.
Ask your opinion on this.
I think he's been probably very forthright with all the people he's in negotiations with.
Here's my price.
Here's my price.
And if you don't want to make it, I'm making this deal.
And I think he's done that.
I don't think he's waited until the last second to try and squeeze more.
Yeah.
Has he established, and you would agree with that take?
Yeah, absolutely.
Has he established around the league that no, no, no, it's not a bluff.
It's not a rookie GM thing.
this is what he, if he says he's going to do it, you better respect it.
If you want Chris Tanna, I need a first, or I'm just going to wait and all the, the highest
bid at the end of the, as we get closer.
Eliasana, we'll get it done now, but here's what my price is going to be.
We're not eating money and a player.
Yeah, we're not eating Zedorov money.
Yeah.
And I think maybe right, what you're seeing is he says the price is number 10.
And the devil's like, no, no, no, you need to throw in this.
And we're like, no, like, this is my price.
And you'll come around to my side by the time we get to the draft.
And I think you might be right.
It might be the devil's dragging their feet.
And you're also right when you brought up Anderson.
This guy's locked.
You got a couple of years left here.
You do not have to move them right now.
No, it wasn't one of those things.
It was 11th overall.
Thanks for good conversation.
But I'll tell you what,
it is a thing.
Like you're going to have to make a decision
to Rast's answer the next year and a half.
Yeah, it's going to be a thing before.
Extend them or you move him.
You're not walking him to you.
Now, you know what we can do.
because, you know, we're buddies with Conroy, right?
We're on team Conroy.
Yeah, yeah, Craigie.
And we are a, well, he's not ditching rats.
He thought you were a team.
Okay.
I think we're still there.
Oh, you know, I'll talk.
I know that Mrs. Conroy is a big fan of the show.
Right.
She watches a lot.
And we are a very powerful presence in the hockey world.
All right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Oh, yeah.
We could stir up a little something.
except don't don't watch so other GMs like true living put on earmuffs we've got how many weeks three weeks till the draft if we start pumping up the i'm hearing big things about marxstrom to toronto marks from to caroline we start feeding that and then old your your buddy Tommy Fitzgerald he'll be like hey retro we played together we lost that cup together in flor is you remember that um what's this shit you guys are talking about is that for sure oh yeah buddy I'm sworn to secret
Shorty, you didn't hear it from me, but
Shorty, I can't tell you too much, but Rob Blake
called me yesterday. They are getting Martian to wave.
He loves cheese steaks.
Like, just can't get enough of them.
And no one's talking about Philadelphia,
but I think he's going to Philly.
Put this under your hat. What, Philadelphia?
God damn, that's an indivision.
He's a rival.
And he, fly, he goes fly.
He loves just.
Huge, red iron fan.
It's a birdwatcher.
It's all over and watch.
I wouldn't sit on my hands, shorty.
But you didn't hear it from me.
Just get it done Fitzgerald.
Don't be a cheap prick.
You know?
Well, and I forgot gas the first version of this Marksum trade, also the same to you.
That's a, yeah.
This deal probably could have been done already.
He's done.
And there again.
You're not looking to pick 10 if they got Markstrom.
He was late for a month after that thing dissolved.
While we're talking about it, we were right again.
Hey, New Jersey, you need a goalie.
They did.
Hey, Flames, you're not making the playoffs.
They didn't.
We were right.
New Jersey?
New Jersey?
It's not hard.
It's not.
Like and subscribe and make the goddamn deal.
That's right.
That's all it takes.
Figure it out.
All these GMs, oh, Paul Coffey's this and that.
You know what?
You want to turn your shit around?
Bardburner voice.
That's what you do.
Oh, so Paul Coffey doesn't make his defenseman said,
no, he probably does.
Fucking video for hours.
But I'm saying, we're in, you know what,
we're in that ilk,
Hall of Famers.
Hey, boys, pass it to Connor.
Listen.
Oh, my gosh.
Jesus.
If you can get it to Leon or Connor,
it's going to really help.
Here's the thing.
If you're down on the third,
you need to put McDavid and dry sidle together.
Play that music again.
you're welcome we should almost just shut the show down now because i got way too many snakes
for that if you're down late double shift macdavit this knoblock he's just pushing all the right
buttons pulling all the right strings yeah just and i belies just got such a feel for it go fuck yourself
how was he in junior told this what he double shifted him there too uh uh now
Here's the thing, because on the power play, you usually have two units.
But if you're down in the game, maybe just maybe, you leave Leon and Connor out for the full two minutes.
Stay.
Get us their hardware.
Different kind of figure.
Someone's going to send you an oiler's ring.
I'll be all right.
It's weird.
This week off is kind of taken away someone might disdain for them.
Maybe it'll fire back up again tomorrow.
Yeah, I want to say, well, you know what they did.
Juses will be flowing.
Because like we said, they kind of deserve to be there.
They've been pretty good.
I'm pulling for the oilers because I want that lady to stop using cannabis.
I just want to see more of that other lady.
She can keep doing whatever she is doing.
And I want her to stay motivated.
Apparently, she's got some big offers on the table.
She's big.
Everything's big.
You want to talk about it's all good.
It's all big.
The ex-Jistercans got some big money decisions.
Big, big, big, big, big turkey.
Huge.
I'm willing to contribute.
Is it a go-fund-me type of thing?
thing i'm throwing less of that but i think you are allowed to watch if it does go through hey listen
if you guys are down in the series yeah just go out and say we need that woman to show her jugs again
hey if you're up in the series but also if you lose the series before game one jugs before game
Pregame speeds
Jugs, Jux. Okay, guys, gather around.
We're going to watch some video right now.
Coffee's doing video?
What the hell, Paul?
Oh, shit.
When are we doing video, coach?
Oh, it's weird.
The guys are really invested in our video sessions lately.
Probably a good segue.

No, he's been good.
Very good.
Made nice,
beautiful goals in the playoffs.
Happy birthday.
William.
Out of me there, Bill.
Happy birthday, Bill.
Happy birthday, Billy.
Oh, Billy Boy.
Billy Stromgren.
I saw a weird one today.
I wanted to get to it with Dregor,
but Boone wouldn't stop blathering.
Shut up.
Stanley Cup final.
Apparently Jake Gensel's rights are available.
What?
Per Friedman on his,
Jeff Merrick
laughs at his own jokes podcast.
Also out of that he doesn't think
it's crazy that the Black Hawks
would be considering this.
Chicago starting to make noises
like they'd like to move things along a little bit.
And why wouldn't they with Bard?
The two good defensemen,
a nice breakout year from Vlasic, Seth Jones,
number two pick and Demadov potentially on the way
and all the capspace in the world.
That's good.
Are we losing our love of the canes?
I think what they've
They've
Prag them up and we love the bod and
blah blah blah
They do things weirdly
But they're good at it
And Donwood else
Over his love of the Keynes
You're not going to pay any of you
To be a real GM in the league
I'm just going to go somewhere else
Literally I'll go to Columbus
Instead of work here
Think about that
How many times have you seen a GM with a job
Say thanks, no thanks
I'm going to leave
Oh here last year
But aside from that
Because there were now
To your point there was a time
Remember they started doing the storm surge
after wins.
They were clapping their hands.
That was very early in this era of weird.
They were, it was, hey, look at these guys.
They're having fun.
It's just a fun loving bunch of guys.
And then they got to be very good and perennially in the playoffs.
What was it?
Do we say three straight 50 wins season?
Something like that.
Three or four?
Very good team.
Final four.
Eastern Conference finals.
Divisional finals.
I think they've gotten through the first round every year for a while now.
So you're suggesting, right, are we?
are we tired of their malarkey?
I am. I kind of am too, right?
And I think, like, when I saw this,
this is exactly where my head went too, was,
I think they've perfected the formula of, like,
you draft well, you don't overpay for guys,
you show no loyalty, it's cutthroat,
you don't ever pay for goaltending.
You'd think GMs make too much, you don't pay them.
We run our stats guys for everything.
They're going to be good, but not great, maybe forever.
That's kind of what I think they've perfected.
You know what I mean?
That's what I'm wondering.
We're going to be second in the division every year.
Well, and they're damn lucky to have Rod there to ignite the team.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
To coach that the kids like playing for.
I think it's a very good team.
I don't think it looks like.
They aren't what they were.
Their defense doesn't look as good.
No, they're.
And they got a point for them for sure on the back end.
And the GM's gone.
It's Chatfield, Peschy and Shea.
That is not nobody's.
Those are significant players to them.
And that's after having Dougie Hamilton go and a few others that have left over the last few years.
That used to be their calling card.
You know what?
That's the other thing we don't talk about.
New Jersey.
Douglas.
Dougie Hamilton.
Heard again.
Heard all season.
Maybe this is him helping the flames.
If the flames now get a Markstrom deal done and get 10 and then draft like a franchise player,
why do they need a goalie?
Well, because their goal attendant wasn't very good.
But they also were without their Norris caliber defenseman all year,
which left them exposed.
Norris might be strong,
but yeah,
tough 10 defensemen for sure.
We don't know where he would be, right?
You forget how good, how good he is.
He's a good player.
He can do some things.
Thanks, Dougie.
It's a Pender report.
Keep going.
All right.
Well,
Ryan, guys,
Stamps game day.
Whoa,
settle down here.
Wait to see you there, Dean.
Look at this.
Jake Meyer or mayor.
He is going to start today.
How many games will he start this year out of the 18?
Dean.
It's not on the core.
He wasn't that good last year.
He led the Lincoln picks.
Well, look at his ankle.
He's running.
Great shoes.
Excellent flexibility.
Good ankle bend there.
I like those.
Yeah.
And the CFL season did kick off last night,
so we have an early candidate for CFLE play of the year.
Yes.
It's a not-so-long-field goal.
It is missed left.
Don't give up the Rouge, run it out,
but also don't fumble it and have it turn into a safety.
And run into the upright,
which is in the front of the end.
hit the upright which is in the head song.
After review, the ruling on the field stands.
The ball carrier went out of goal and got back into goal on his own.
Out of goal.
Safety touch for a red bank.
Does this guy do every CFL game?
There's only, I would say at least one a week, Dean.
And that also is CFL.
There's a lot of CFL there.
He touched and not touched in and out of the zone for the touchback point.
Maria.
Stamps have a nice little drinking platform in one of the corners.
They've got cheap beers to kick off.
They're working at it.
Good work, fellas.
Have a, have a season.
What'd you, Dave?
Let's go.
Have a great year, Dave.
Have a great year.
Newest Canadian you.
Yeah, he's got his,
you think you got a tattoo Canadian flag?
Right over his.
Right here.
Now what else?
Like right across the chip.
All the way.
Oh, wow.
That's a lot of ink.
A lot happening on the local sports scene this weekend, Dean.
Even if it's not the flames.
No.
Saturday.
because we have stamps tonight.
Stamps tonight.
You could build a serious triple header here.
Saturday, we've told you, Calvary against Forge,
and Dean won't listen to me.
That's not new.
Dean not listening to Jack, kind of new.
You've been invited and you've been rude, Dean,
so we had to go over your head.
Did you?
Ignat.
Boom.
It's Tommy.
Listen, mate, I'm just heading to the locker rooms now
for a little bit of strategic planning
for our game on Saturday against the Forge.
I hear there's an invite sent out to you.
It's going to be a three o'clock kickoff,
a top of the table clash, or it should be,
and there's going to be two good sides,
there's going to be your mate Pinder,
there's going to be some cold beers,
and about 22 degree weather.
Now that doesn't sound like a terrific day.
I'm not sure what else is, mate.
Boom, love to see here, the grounds.
Get yourself down there, mate.
Yes!
I mean, you can turn us down, but
But Tommy?
Are you going to let down Tommy against Stink and Forge?
Say it.
That's frigging dirty.
That's what that is.
Well,
did you make it Saturday at 3?
Come on!
I spend all week with you, Pinder.
You can get the outside.
You really don't.
But it feels like it, Redd.
Like, this is a big chunk of my day.
Oh, but he'll be so just.
He'll be with Jack.
Very close to your house.
You're with Jack.
Harpful with Jack.
And you're doing it for Tommy and the boy.
You could get painted up.
Is there anything that might come up for you, Pender?
Is there anything that could derail your...
I need to sort out how I'm getting there,
because I'd love to not have a wheel to steer.
Yeah, I know.
If I can navigate that, I'm in great shape.
Right.
So who did that?
Is that you?
What are you talking about?
Tommy watches the show.
I know he does.
Sour with you.
That's Tommy wielding.
That's top of the table.
Tommy trying to get to the top of the table.
me a personal message.
I'd be chombering from Tommy.
Yes.
We'll see you three.
I'm a team Tommy guy.
Three o'clock Saturday.
Pinder will pick you up.
Nope.
Jack's picking you up.
We'll fire up the Jack Cam.
We'll have the whole thing for the show on Monday.
Boom, boom.
I want, you know what?
Now that you're in for the Cavs game,
I think you do the Calgary trifect that this weekend.
So I've got a surge game too.
A couple of surge games.
Yeah.
Cavs.
Search.
That's right.
Right. Speaking of Surge, Red, tonight, Vancouver Bandits and the stinking sea bears from Winnipeg.
You love to see the sea bears. You're a Winnipeg night.
Sun at noon.
He's jerks from Winnipeg swimming around, clubbing seals.
They put their three and two record against the surge who destroyed on Wednesday night.
I think they went on like an 18-0 run. Never looked back.
Never lived in Winnipeg. It went from just flat to explosive.
What a weekend.
You go tailgate with Greg tomorrow or tonight.
Oh, I'm jealous.
That's going to be a good weekend for you, Dean.
Yeah.
And you know what?
Take Monday off.
You might be a little hungover.
I'm tired already.
Take it off.
Tired already.
Take Monday.
Take it off.
I got you on Monday.
Let's keep going.
Back to you.
Well, the Canadian men's national soccer team had a difficult tune-up for the two-week-old new head coach, Jesse Marsh.
4-0 if you need them.
short and sweet.
And nil, nil, the half belt good.
Yeah.
There's going to be some stuff to review in the final 45 for Andrew.
As the
soccer juggernauts in
Holland put their foot down.
And they look very good as they headed to Euro.
So the Dutch made some adjustments and scored four in a second.
Well, it was kind of more like Canada was doing everything they could,
backflips and just trying to keep the ball out.
Oh, and we made it down to the ship.
there's uh do you notice the lovely shade of that beverage yeah i do
now we were talking about a mexican lager that is the mexican lager boys origin brewing
mexican logger here this right what are we pouring we got the origin mexican
laundry delicious i want a mexican logger
Didn't help with the national team.
It made the viewing a little bit.
The final bit there.
Okay, you want crazy?
You know the Okotok's dog season's underway?
Dean, we can make this quadruple header for you this weekend,
or we'll just push it to another day.
You like baseball?
Two dogs?
W-CBL action.
Now, this is not a dog's game.
This is not a dog's result, but this is in the league.
We had the Brooks bombers against the Lethbridge Bulls.
Now, Brooks, not a big ballpark.
and we added a little wind in Brooks.
The scent of commerce would have been all over the place in Brooks out in that night.
Look at these wind gusts, Red.
Now, West, I'm guessing, is towards the short center field outfield wall.
A short porch.
The whole thing's short and the wind was blowing that way.
Let's pause it there, Jack.
Do you want to guess at the score of said game or how many runs might be put up here,
Red?
Because it's windy, heading out of the field and it's a sure, it's a really, really, really, right?
You know, it's going to be a lot because you're making a big thing.
14 to 12.
That would be a lot.
In actuality, it'd be light.
Oh.
Oh.
What?
31 26?
That is great for your staff.
If you're a batter.
What?
You're sure this isn't high school football?
This is too high score for Canadian high school for three.
This is four down football score.
Goodness.
Goodness grace.
Thinking love, Richard.
Goodness gracious.
Let's keep moving.
Go dogs.
Go dogs.
You want to see a horrible straight call?
And I mean horrible.
The San Diego Padres.
I thought that guy got fired.
No, he's not the only one.
We still need a robot umpires.
It wasn't just Angel.
Now, this, look at the score here.
Padres are down one, bottom nine, two out,
tying run at second
two to count
boy
watch the ball game and that was not close to being a strike
Bruton
out of the kid's hands
wasn't even close
like Schilt out there arguing that very point
but this game is over
watch the replay here this is very
and the game on that
really got to be shaving me
that was the line that I've been shaving me
You got to be shaving me.
You got to be shaving me.
Beautiful ballpark.
What a night.
Home fans excited.
They're so bad.
Every game you watch you.
Like that completely changes this inning.
What about a baseball road trip, Dean?
I've got one planned on for me.
What do you think of?
I don't think he wants to go with you.
That's my point.
Don't go to Seattle.
I got Seattle.
I fuck.
not be anywhere close to that ballpark when you're in it.
I'm already too close.
Well, I think we've got to go somewhere eastern United States because there's more ballparks
in a closer proximity.
Boston.
You should.
Billy.
Should.
Pittsburgh.
Shea.
Listen, see, you do this, right?
Like you throw it out there.
We were talking on the show about the, I think it probably going to be a Saskatoon or something.

I know the general vicinity.
We met at a restaurant, but, you know.
Anyway, pinned a report.
Carry on.
Back to you, Ryan.
Let's go, Timnackie.
Now, Timmy's in Trell.
He's got the ghost pepper and he's down heading into day four.
All righty.
It is day nine going to blackjack committing once in three follow.
I've got week two, day four.
We have a $13,800 bet coming right up.
All righty, ladies gentlemen, 13K on the button 400 each of the side bits.
Our deal of today looks excommunicato.

We didn't have a
double down
opportunity
because I forgot
to add
additional funds.
And tomorrow
I will now
need a split
or a double down
win to avoid
the ghost pepper
challenge.
See you all tomorrow.
Oh boy.
How are we feeling
about Tim here?
It's lots.
It's excitement.
It was about a 10 out of
10 before.
I feel like we're at a six
now.
Yeah.
It's every day.
It's a lot of money.
still, but it's just, you can just see that I think we're not the only ones.
And the reason I say that is it's not, the, the, the bet is not increasing by a lot on a
day-to-day basis.
Yeah, it's, uh, it's, it's a guy playing blackjack now.
It was funny, but don't need to see it every day is probably where I'm approaching.
Jack, we're, Jack's the boss here. Jack, we bring in here.
Where are we out on NACI on the Pinda report?
Once a week, I say it's probably good.
Yeah, if he loses his final bet, like the,
ghost pepper thing. Let's play that and if he has to eat the ghost pepper. Monday we'll have the
recap. Yeah, because now, now it's a guy, this afternoon. Now it's a guy that lives in Calgary
playing cards. Kind of, right? Yeah. It's all those things. You might be able to go to a casino in
town and see a high stakes table and find somebody who's playing more than that every hand and more
than one hand a day. More than that. Uh, okay, let's fire off the weekend, boys. It's a big one.
Brett, is there American holiday?
What is it?
Dad's Hangover Day Monday is already?
It is the official holiday of Donut Day.
Donate Day Monday.
So we'll see you on Tuesday.
Yeah, see you next Tuesday.
Here's the like you kick off Donut Day long weekend in the USA.
You head out to your balcony and you fire off some fireworks, right?
Shut off a rocket today.
Now look, he's being safe about it.
He's got the fuse.
He's going to back up.
He's aiming straight up in the sky.
Nothing can go wrong.
There she goes.
Let's get out of here.
Let's not hang out here for much longer.
Or put that out on the internet, you idiot.
Yeah.
That's a direct hit.
I hope no one was in that bedroom.
We shot off a rocket on Wednesday night.
Well, it went missing as well.
Have you published any videos of said rockets?
I'm sure it all turned out for the best.
Jack, we're going to scrub that part of the show to keep ready.
his liability nice and low.
Okay.
Well, if you think that's a good weekend,
check out this little bit of action.
Now, I believe this is Rhett.
He's got someone driving the car,
and he and his shoveler are on the left side of this.
What is this?
It's the motorbike with the sidecar.
I'm talking about it.
Oh, okay.
Away.
Oh, what boy,
yeah.
Hey, it's the weekend.
People get excited,
It's all right.
It's Friday.
Dean found a new roller coaster this one.
Safe and sturdy, not made of wood.
Safety through the roof.
Yes or no?
Oh, sturdy as hell.
Where are we at?
Imagine if you're near the back and somebody starts yakking.
If?
Right, it's just a steady spray of.
Now, wait.
Don't you need some sort of shoulder brace?
Yeah, they get the over the shoulder.
I don't think they do.
I think they have the strapons.
Yeah, they are.
See?
strap-ons
maybe not
I don't know
that guy's
we've just
the waste
goodness
I thought they had
the over-the-shoulder
holder holder there
well safety
first guys
maybe not roller coaster
maybe water slides
a more of a thing
which I would understand
water slides are fun
outdoor
that's all he's
buddy
oh
he go
see you
he go
send the heavy guy
first
it's a bit of a preview
what could go wrong
yeah
I'm about five pounds later.
I'll go.
Yeah, you need put a little bit of a higher.
Hard tank.
All there or something, yeah.
Play the bank.
Uh,
Rett's kids out in Buffalo,
they love the old skate park.
Stalled.
Is that AI Dean or did that guy absolutely?
Good.
Yeah.
Meanwhile,
it's good we could laugh.
We can.
How's your kid,
Rhett?
He's fine.
Yeah,
okay.
It's not using it anyway.
Now,
Dean's not going to escape,
uh,
and into the weekend before we get something for him on
the Pender Report.
Now you noted there's a woodpecker
in your neighborhood.
Yeah.
We got some video and I understand why you're in such a bad mood some days.
That would be annoying Dean,
wouldn't it?
Trying to get a nap in.
Yeah, that would be dinner.
Yeah, that'd be something.
Because even just on the peck, peck on the tree would be,
you know, but the doorbell, I mean, geez, what are the odds of that?
Here's something none of us will know.
about, but someone had this happen to them. So just trying to share experiences and see if anyone
can learn from it. As we see before we press play, there's a young child in the background,
and the dad has got a very hot dish here with the oven open.
Come out of the oven.
Don't show me that.
Oh, my God, Dad.
If your kid is walking towards an open oven and your husband has his hands full,
definitely keep filming and nag at him.
If your kid is walking towards an open oven and your husband has his hands full,
definitely keep filming and nag at him.
So you can get away with that because it's a Muppet.
It's not a real person.
That's great.
Well, and that's, I can't imagine.
That happens.
It's crazy.
I like that.
I like that.
No, Jack and I are debating.
He wants to go to Bangkok.
Incredible part of the world.
Wrette, you've probably been there.
You've got to be careful.
I don't know if he's.
If these are gators or crocs or lizards or guanas, what do we got here?
My God.
It's not quite a crocodile, but that does look like a 15-foot lizard.
Where are you going, Bob?
Up the water slide, I guess.
Geez.
Look at that tail on it.
How huge is that big.
Oh, you make that towel?
I don't like that.
Jackie's still going to go?
Are you canceling the trip?
That looks like Friday night at the Warner House.
Oh, I was not going to like that one.
Okay.
Snake or the difference between ostriches and emus?
Because there's been a bit of a confusion thing out there this week.
It's ostrich week on the show.
Ostrich emu.
Let's just sort of who's who in the zoo.
Because they get confused, Dean.
Did you know the difference between an ostrich and an emu?
The ostrich stands tall as the world's largest bird,
towering over its Australian cousin, the emu.
When it comes to brute strength, the ostrich with its powerful legs takes the crown.
Speaking of legs,
ever seen one run, the ostrich can sprint up to 45 miles per hour, edging out the emu's 30
miles per hour dash. Intelligence is tricky to gauge, but both birds exhibit their own unique
smarts and quirks. And hey, while the ostrich boasts flamboyant feathers, the emu has an intense
gaze that's hard to forget. Yeah. We were right. It was ostrich's here. What's this guy's deal
that does all this? That's got to be an AI voice. Oh, it's totally eye voice. Oh, okay.
That's why it's sick. That's why you hear it everywhere.
What's this guy?
A lot of icework this guy.
I hear this guy.
I must be making a killing.
Everywhere I go.
I hear this guy.
Snakes.
Lots of them.
No.
We did the emu ostrich instead of the snakes.
Is that right?
Yes.
Okay.
We'll move along.
Finally, we got a pet.
Another pet for Dean.
Here we go.
God damn.
In this container, we have my pet Gravoid.
Yeah, the animal that the movie Trimmers was based off of.
It's the only thing that still gives me the hebie-jeebies.
This thing is creating.
I'm gonna call it a him for the duration of this video, but it is a female just so you know that this thing is very quick
Pretty venomous. I don't know that I like it that much. It still creates me out. I'm not gonna lie
Look at those big antennas as it sways from side to side is trying to find a finger to bite a hold of or a bug
It would eat a finger though. Let's face it if you get bit it burns with the heat of a thousand suns
It has these big old venom injecting apparatus up there and it's just trying to grab something I'm gonna put my hand to
down there so you get a little bit of a size reference i'm not getting my hand closer i know that's
force perspective i just i'm not about that life i'm going to go and grab a tool that i'm familiar
with so i have home court advantage here uh since it is out i don't want it to get any more out right
so we grab the snake hook he is climbing up at biting it a little bit don't know that i like that
that makes me a little nervous about him getting closer to my hand back next come on dude
get him in here just the tremors movie dean that's the pet oh
So what do you do for those,
Wrette, shave and shampoo?
Jesus.
Okay, we'll just switch hands here.
Oh.
Is special shampoo?
Yeah, it's prescribed.
Right, okay.
Just write it down here.
Burn the whole thing down.
Start again.
That's it, Dean.
We'll save the lots of snakes for Monday, I guess.
Oh, thank goodness.
Wrette.
I just feel like it is.
Feels like an intervention almost, eh?
Snake intervention.
It's like Ryan.
Get a lot of snakes to be.
This week.
Gotta get back to our current kangaroo routes, I think, next week.
Yep.
That's for sure.
That's the Pinda report brought to you by Village Honda, pre-owned vehicles.
If you're in the market, if you're looking, maybe somebody in, you know, it's like a little summer road trip.
We're going to be a lot of drive in this summer.
We've got to go see Grandma Ma.
We're going to go to get a wedding in B.C.
We're going to go out to get yourself a nice, reliable pre-owned vehicle, Village Honda.
And if you see something there, you like it, then you make a deal.
They're going to make, they're going to want to make a deal with you.
You don't see it.
You go sit down.
Look at the database of vehicles.
500 plus vehicles inside.
The Wood Automotive Group is why Village Honda is your dealership for life.
Village Honda, though, I can stop.
Yes, sir.
I'm way, Anthony, very happy with that Dutch squad yesterday.
I bet he would be.
Yeah, he would be.
Yeah, I bet he would be.
We'll do the great clips inbox, and we have yet to do our Stanley Cup final picks.

Off you go. You're up in about 15 minutes.
There's no better way to do it. It's great clips. It's going to be great.
Did I do my eyebrows? Oh, I presume.
It's not a, it's a bad sign when you start getting those, those extra offers as you get older.
Yeah.
Did you want me to, how far down the back?
Did you want to go all the way down to?
Your ears.
With the ears?
You got a little, eyebrows, nose?
I want to get up in the...
Cut the damn hair.
If you could just...
All right.
We'll get into it here.
I had a lot in the inbox this week.
I won't lie to you.
Got a lot in.
Really?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hey, boys.
Question is for Rhett.
Putting you on the story.
spot a little bit here as an alumni of Florida Buffalo and Calgary if the flames played in
the cup final against Buffalo or Florida who are you cheering for that's from Eric wow if the flames
played against any of those other two teams who are you living yeah where am I living
because I'm going to have a place in all three right love the mountains I love the lakes you're on
your way you got to oh yeah well I'm going to
Mountains, lakes, oceans.
That's me.
Not a big desert guy.
Only because the flames have won once,
I'll go with either of the other two.
It was a nice run with Red on the show.
Yeah.
Living in Buffalo, not rooting for the flames?
Not ideal.
I'm a media unbiased.
That's right.
This doesn't seem like a question.
This is from Sean.
Morning guys.
fight it hard to believe why some people can't understand how many Canadian hockey fans aren't
or can't bring themselves to cheer for the Oilers.
I appreciate Oilers fans unwavering support of their team.
But if they weren't such dicks about it all the time, then maybe more people could
bring themselves to cheer for them in the finals.
I have a lot of friends that are Oilers fans and 90% of them are real dicks about it.
If they happen to win, it will be unbearable.
Watching the show of the past few weeks, Frank Sarajevole, you can tell you spent too much time
in Edmonton trying to be a bit of a dick on the show, it seems.
Oh, dear.
Would like to see Paul Maurice finally win a cup.
His press conferences are derelish with more swearing.
Have a good weekend, Sean.
Thank you, Sean.
I have no objections, Sean.
Yeah, not really a question there.
It's some good points, Dean.
Yeah, some D-bombs there for sure.
We'll get in here.
Jimbo Slice, thoughts on Tija Genla.
Is it a miss if management doesn't draft him
or figure out how to get him here in Calgary?
Nope.
Well, wait, wait, wait, if he turns out better than the player they draft, yes.
It's a big miss.
Go take the Hall of Famer.
No pressure.
Go get the best player.
They draft someone who doesn't play.
It's a miss.
That would be.
If they draft a Hall of Famer and they don't draft Teage, not a miss.
That's okay.
Not a miss.
Or just draft Tej and he is a Hall of Famer everyone wants.
Ian wants to note, does Conroy have more autonomy than Triliving did?
I don't think gyms have a ton of.
I don't think GMs would tell the public or people about how much autonomy they'd have.
There are what, hoops you have to jump through?
I would assume those hoops are much the same.
We talked about the managing up quotient when the GM position was open.
It's not nothing.
Yeah.
Bill, Bill G, don't talk about the Oilers.
This is a flames podcast.
Listen, Bill, you get those wild playing better.
We'll talk about them, your team.
Whatever you want, Bill.
talked about the Panthers.
We're always talking about the senators
because we love the senators.
It's a hockey show.
I don't know why you would think it's a Flames podcast.
Don't put us in a box.
That's right.
It's from Thomas.
Boomer.
Hearing Rhett talk about Donair spots in Calgary
reminded me of a friend of mine who with his coworkers
created a report on Donair places in downtown Calgary in 2015.
It became somewhat known
within the downtown community leading to CBC
writing an article on it.
The report has enough metrics
to keep Pinder entertain.
It's about food, so you and Wrette should get you, Phil.
Plus, there's some humor in the deck.
Here's my ranking.
Now we're not going to, you know, play it or something.
But PETA Express finished number one.
What?
Pita Express.
Hey, sorry.
Have you heard of Shems?
No.
Jimmy's A&A.
Yes.
Highly recommended.
Okay.
that's not downtown yeah pita basket no no allie frescoes that's the place by the place right
yeah yeah i wouldn't have the town oh yeah flophil king so good chickpea i love chedars deli
shworma house excellent tom's jumping in here he's trying to help you out he's trying to help you out so i mean
did you go try it jack attack the donair oh i've had
donairs before.
Well, you know what?
Cut your mind.
Clearly.
You're trying to do the show.
Chipotle.
This is from Aaron with a
barn burner history lesson
for all newbies to the show
from an old guy.
Boomer was a grumpy old man
before he became old.
Warner started on Wednesdays.
He still only puts in one day
a week's worth of work in.
Whatever happened to Turtle?
Pinder is still the annoying new guy
on the show.
The Twinders were announced.
announced on April fools. I got hammered at Warner's roast. Uh,
noodles Peter Marr comment was hilarious. Bring back the pig mask. Chris Carter was the best
interview ever. The first time the chick getting hit in the head with the shovel was
played on the air. I pissed myself. Fuck I'm old. Thanks for all the lackluster waste of time
radio. Keep it up. P.S. Please find a way to put the bird in the air. That is from Aaron.
That's a good email. I still a refresher. You've been around for a while. Been around for a while.
I'm out for a while.
Very nice.
Very nice.
A couple more inside the,
the show here.
This is from Amad.
I love you idiots, he says.
Oh, thanks, buddy.
Shut up, Amad.
Oh.
We're talking about country music.
Danny.
New country is horrible.
Old country or outlaw country
is miles better than the pop on the radio.
I think you're going to get consensus
across the board on that, Danny.
If that was intended to be a hot take,
we're not going to fight you on it.
Yeah, I don't think.
So there's some of the new stuff I don't mind.
But generally speaking,
it's very poppy.
It's very poppy.
It's very poppy.
There's country music that sounds like hip hop now.
I'm like,
what are we doing here?
Well,
they're collaborating.
Are they?
A lot of collabs.
This is tough one.
Big D early on in the show.
Bo Levi,
according to your report,
stepped on his ego,
getting out of the shower,
might miss a few weeks.
D.
That's not very nice,
Dee.
I don't think that really happened.
This is kind of like when you said that he would have shit himself.
Is that terrible?
Miss or disinformation?
That's disinformation for sure.
It's a miss and it's disinformation.
And David,
I only drink barn burner blonde.
Hey, look, in these times,
the water man?
You could probably could.
You're a good man, David.
Although you did have some other comments in the chat
that were little unsavory,
which is not real great.
Maybe he's had a couple already today.
Triple B day
and finally
the final word goes to Stuart
Hey boom
No question
Just wanted to say thanks
Earlier this week
I found out my uncle
Has a cancerous brain tumor
Has surgery tomorrow
Broke down crying at work on Tuesday
So I turned on the Monday edition
Of Barnburner
And the first thing I see
Is the Pinda Report clip
Of the guy beating the gators off
With a shovel
Laugh my ass off
Thanks for the laugh
love the show.
Oilers suck.
That's from Stewart.
That's how you do it.
Tees and peas to uncle.
Fight it off, buddy.
Dig in, fight hard.
We're thinking about you.
And that'll do it for the Great Clips inbox.
You can get in.
It's very easy.
You can email great clips inbox at flamesnation.ca.
Or, of course, you can just be part of the show when we are running and rolling live and get in that way on the chat.
On your YouTube or your Facebook's.
Great clips. It's going to be great.
Well, let's do it. So I see that we've made like we did Betway,
do we just want to do the Betway segment this week with our picks.
That could just be.
I've got some baseball ones we can throw that take 10 seconds.
I don't see. This is one, whatever.
Okay.
Then tell me a bunch of baseball picks.
Oh, we've got to ride the Vlad Guerrero hot hand.
What are you talking about?
Glad he's killing it, Dean.
Yeah, I saw he put one out, put one out yesterday.
You're mocking him for every six home runs.
Now he's got seven.
That's right.
Barely got over the wall.
He's doing his little strut and then stop at second.
Wow, I mean, look, because that's the Ake Stadium's right field, that would have been way out.
It's a big show.
It's a big show for a guy with seven dingers.
Hey, get running there, Chubs McGee.
Let's go.
Get a stopwatch for his own run shot.
There's the jacket and there's the red carpet.
It's hard to like these guys right now.
I'm not raising that jacket very often.
Christ.
Feel free to use it more.
Iro and.
Anywho, uh, Betway, get the, uh, get the,
Betway up. Get it on your phone. Bet the responsible way with Betway. Create a new account. Scan the QR
code on the screen. Redeem your bonus. Place a bet. No minimum amount required. And if your first bet
loses, you'll get a refund up to $200. You can then use that money to bet on your favorite sports.
Offer only available outside of Ontario. Keep riding the Vladdy hot hand over one and a half total
basis. Walks and unincluded. A single double will get it done or just a couple singles or a home run. Sure.
Right, right on. Even if it's barely over the fence team. Yes, that's right. You will win this bet.
It's against his old team.
The hound has been pretty strong.
The A's strike out a lot,
especially against Ritees.
We'll take the Basset win at plus 120.
Basset,
the pound.
The hound.
It's a hound.
Hound.
Oh, my,
Basset.
So there you go.
And, I mean,
we're going to do picks anyway.
But this is just for,
you know,
for shits and giggles.
Yodd,
some of the stuff that's still available.
You go into the,
the futures part.
You get in there.
And you look around, this is some of what's there.
The Florida Edmonton series, it's a plus 15, any number of games.
No matter.
Plus 115 for an oiler win.
And if you go Oilers in six, it's a plus 450.
Did I home?
Did I just see you place the largest jinxie pants upon the Edmonton Oilers fan base right now?
No, it's probably the jinxie on the Florida Panthers is what it'll be.
Um, that's not how Jinks works, is it.
Oilers in seven plus 500, six, four, 50.
Oilers in five, seven hundred.
You think she's a sweep, sweep, doodle plus 12 hundo for an oiler sweep.
Don't see it happening, but, uh, total games, you can go, uh, where are we here?
Yeah, so it's minus one 35 for Florida to win the series plus 115 for the Oilers.
So a bit of, I mean, favorites, four,
Panthers. Florida Panthers favorite.
We got like a 55-45-45 type
thing from Vegas. Yeah.
So,
who wants to start?
Series begins
tomorrow night at the
Amaranthrath
Anthrax Arena
in Sunrise,
California.
As the Panteros take on
the Emmet the Militers. I'm in last.
I can't catch anyone. I've been awful
and I have not said the Oilers should win a series.
Truth.
I will take Florida.
Jack, you're up.
See, now you're jinks.
Before we go any further, I did review the tape.
Rhett, you did pick Florida and Emmetton.
You are one back of Boomer.
So we need some sort of like tiebreaker here.
I told you.
I told you.
Let's see the picks.
I said you took the Oilers,
and I said, I can't believe you're doing it.
that and you said well i got to catch you and look what happened you're to blame for all of this
thanks red so you have to go or jack and you i'll go i can't catch either of you i'll take florida
in six no no whoever's in the lead goes like it's not how it works rat your second last you pick
edmonton and then if i if i take who you take then i'm guaranteed to win you can't take emitting
you jackass.
Oilers.
I switch to Florida.
You pick both teams,
Rhett?
They are not allowed to do that.
I switch to Florida.
Nope.
Dang.
My pick is opposite of Dines.
And my pick
is opposite of Rets.
Perfect.
You're the same as Rets
is what you want.
Yeah, fuck.
No, I, uh,
you don't like it,
you like the Oilers.
I don't know.
Yeah, you do.
Honestly, truly.
The way bet.
I just thought Dallas,
this was the opponent you wanted, right?
You didn't want Colorado because the goaltending was suspect.
And I'm not sure.
Dallas, so complete, 820 goal guys, Ottinger and Net.
They bring in, you know, their defense, all of it.
And it just, from game one, from game one on,
they never got any kind of mojo.
is much different.
Truly.
I think it's,
I think Florida should win.
I do.
But I kind of think the oilers find a way to,
it's McDavid.
I think.
Negative bastard.
No, I just.
McDavid.
So,
so Rhett, Dean is locked in his pick of Edmonton.
The floor is yours.
Florida.
Opposite Dean.
Got it.
Why do you like Florida?
Talk to us.
Well,
I used to play there.
been lining up the rosters over top of each other.
Yeah, the barber.
I want the barber to win so that you can stop picking on them.
It's been good for a couple years.
All right.
You have,
you're in.
Florida is locked in for Rhett.
Edmonton's locked in for Dino.
Jack and I,
it doesn't matter.
We both have Florida.
He had the,
he had the highlighter out so it's done now.
What?
Yeah.
It's.
Man,
I sure hope this comes through because if it doesn't,
I don't know,
I don't know what we're going to do.
It's going to be,
it's going to be rough one.
Chad is asking here.
Oh, sorry.
Wrong one.
No, that's not the right one.
Jeez.
Why, I just click, click.
Settle down over there.
Chad wants to know.
Kahn Smyth winners.
Oh, God.
Well, you got to pick one from the team's winning.
Can I go out on a limb?
Yeah, do it.
Sam Bonae.
Wow.
He's been good.
He's been impactful.
That's a huge number.
I'm going to check it on that way.
I'm looking right now, yeah.
Yeah.
Like, that's a huge number.
A hundred to one, maybe?
geez rat that would be a huge hit who shows up when it matters sure does
Sam Bonae who do you like it comes might do you know I'm gonna look these
owns up here Sam Bennett plus 10,000 oh huge number that's a nice bit Calvin Pickard
plus 50,000 if you that's even married him uh well again if
If you go Florida side,
well, you pick the oilers, so.
No, I'm just the, okay, sorry.
Well, this is a different thing.
If, uh, hmm, I'm going to take a chuck of plus 600 like that.
It's a good number.
I'm taking Bennett.
If you put 10 bucks down on Bennett, you win $1,000, right.
Go get it.
Go get it.
Uh, Leon dry siddle.
Not a chance.
Oilers win and McDavid gets it just out of because usually.
Jack, who's your cons of my pick?
I will go with Barkoff.
That shuts down, McDavid.
Are you drunk?
What?
Like, you're sitting at home now.
Like, have you started a drink?
Barkhouse plus 400.
He's the second one.
Not quite.
Rat took the guy 10,000 and asked everyone else if they were drunk.
Are you an idiot?
Do you need a dry sidel?
I was going to, I feel like if it's a Florida win,
you wonder if it's, how isn't it,
Bobrovsky?
No, we have to see it a series.
Yeah.
Like, if Chuck scores five goals, then, then yeah.
Yeah.
If Barkaub neutralizes McDavid and scores three, but you're right.
It's probably going to be goal.
A double overtime game seven.
And I'm, this is not me, again, because this bet, we have so much riding on this bet.
That's right.
But to strip all that away, what do you, do you have a feel?
Because I really don't.
I don't know.
I think it's more difficult than you, you're my natural instincts, Florida, but then you actually start to think about it.
And part of my concern is the easier.
ride that I think
Edmonton has kind of
had and when you thought they were going to get trounced
by a really good team. They always responded.
If you really go back and watch that
series, I think the Oilers
controlled it and they did
it in a way that wasn't
like Winnipeg
pounded or got
pounded by Colorado. Colorado
just owned the puck. That's how you would
expect the Oilers to win. That's not what you
saw. My concern is that they've found a way
to do it the right way.
When they were down 3-2 to Vancouver, you saw, okay, this group isn't shriveling.
They know how to play their best hockey when they have to,
and they've shown depth.
I don't think we believe that they had earlier in the year.
I would have handicapped this as the Oilers as slight favorites.
So to see Vegas with Florida's slight favorites, like, eh.
But we got a series here, fellas.
This should be fun.
It's the best players in the world on one side.
That should be tough to beat.
Florida.
No, Florida's going to win, obviously.
Come on.
So you two have Florida.
And Jack, did you take Florida?
All right, I'll be the outlier.
It's weird.
Oh, you love all that.
With their perfect penalty kill and limiting shots and scoring chances,
what has happened?
What would you need to see game one to be like, okay.
Like, is it power play goal for Florida first period?
Like, all right, we can stop talking about that penalty kill now.
Yeah, I know.
I don't.
Soft, skinner, what do you want to see?
Broken leg for somebody?
It's been perfect for two rounds almost.
They give up what?
Like for the last six.
It's been very good.
It's been hyper aggressive.
It's probably due to allow a goal as well.
It's going to be a rough couple weeks, man.
If this thing does go.
I know.
Tees and peas.
We have forecasting the playoffs has been incredibly who has a clue.
So another thing.
If you want to kind of playoffs to turn out so poorly.
Every conditional pick missing.
Oilers winning will just top it off.
It's, yeah,
it's not been.
great.
The flip side is, would you trade losing all those conditional picks to see the Oilers fans
heart's heart ripped out and put in front of their bleeping faces losing in the final?
I would make that trade.
I guess.
I guess.
Peak pain is still out there for the Oilers.
Well, have a good time at the tribute concert there retro.
It's going to be great.
Yeah.
There's also a post on social.
Right.
Yeah, you will.
Yeah.
Dean, Josh's going to pick you up at two.
Yeah.
just keep ringing the doorbell
if I don't answer.
Sounds good.
Because I'll probably be the downstairs
in the backyard doing some stuff.
Cutting grass.
Yeah.
Or shoot me a text.
But again, if I don't get back to you,
I'd hate to twist up your day
and ruin your fun.
So meet you there.
See you, buddies.
