backland and coleman had zeri that was the manjipani spot and we'll hear from Ryan Husker here in a moment. Cadry with Kuzmanko and Sharon Govich, they played a bit at the end of the last year. They were good, picked right up where they left off. They moved pospousal to the middle.

He is centering Hubertoe and Mantha one night, but it seemed to have something. So the question is, okay, so that's three lines. It's not a bad idea with the pospical up the middle there because there's a little bit of spice. A little bit of spice. Might have to drag in. And I think the criticism of the other two would,

in there they put Zeri and here was Huska talking about the thought process behind that. I'm trying to find a little bit of a combination like Mange had with those two guys. And Connor has some of the same characteristics, maybe not quite the dog on the bone that he did for that line to have so much chemistry,

but he does such a good job of holding on to Puckson creating. And, you know, when we threw things around 52 times this summer, we came back to that one a few times. So we'll see. We'll keep giving it a look and see if it continues to work for us. Can you imagine the over-analizing the coaches? Well, he was asked about that. Not in a bad.

The Oilers didn't take his first preseason game. All the veterans are out. It's a bunch of kids. rookies on the other side, maybe you're not giving it your all. There's a chance maybe you're not going balls out. So yeah, have some fun with it. But it is for everyone involved, this is a lot better than the alternative. Well, just seeing the guy scoring and getting feeling and noticing the skill level.

Way better. Again, you don't put too much stock in any of it when the season starts, but your vibe is better there is a those guys go to the rank today feel better about life yeah like if they get snobled if it's reversed they're going to the rink on who it's gross yeah even if you sluff it off then it's well it's preseason not a big deal you're still oh yeah yeah we got a lot to work on yeah and and certainly for the coaches it's okay let's keep spirits up here yeah yeah keep them pause it'll be a long fucking year two nights into the preseason and already we're having morale boost.

But yeah, so, now it does it give you even a little bit of pause and think, no. Okay, well, let me think. So Hubert-Doh with Matha and Pospas.

Okay. Well, Zeri, Backlin and Coleman. That was a pretty good, pretty good year last year for, for Zeri. Kuzmanko,

Codry, Kuzmanko scored 14. Does it give even a smidgey? I was not overly worried about their forwards, though. And I, it's their defense that's going to yeah and i still don't i don't know what their defense is are they going to have an identity you know what i mean that was one of the reasons i think they went

out and spent a couple million on lomberg was to have a bit of identity in the bottom of the lineup you know that weger is one of those guys i think anderson has a bit i just maybe that defense core can keep it simple stupid and chip it out and get it to the four forwards and the forwards can do enough to to create but i just who over the course of a season you lose one to like i got well maybe you lose a top defense when you're in big trouble but most teams are because after anderson and weger she's and you start to say it's okay well kevin ball and you're a man of and hanley and paul and well and that's yeah you might be able to cycle a bunch of guys in and not right like those are guys that were not ball but those were waiver guys yeah ball's not a waiver

guy, but I'd never heard his name before. Yeah. So he got traded here. So, yeah. It's fine. It's, take it for what it is. It's preseason.

They're playing well. Let's see what happens. But does it give me great hope for a playoff push? Not really. And I said it to you off air yesterday. That'd be the worst thing. It might be the worst thing. We've done all this work.

And it's not the worst thing for the fans or for the players. But I think franchise-wise, it would be terrible. You finished ninth. Shit. But they already have collected a lot of draft picks. They have, but so what? You want high. We've said it before.

You need a game changer at some point. And they've got depth up front. They do. They've got decent depth at front. Who's taken over a game? Yeah. You have some guys here. You want, Zeri could be good.

And Coronado maybe. And maybe Hansa can play. I don't think anyone's thinking there's a 50 goal guy. That's an unstop. Yeah, that guy's unstop. No. That guy could be top five in league scoring. And even if Zari's,

Zari, Zari, Zari, 80 point guy, that's unbelievable. Yeah. But he's not a, he's not a focal point. The other team isn't coming into town going, how do we shut this guy down? He might be hard to shut down. He might put up a bunch of points,

but he's not a, I always think about it. When you go to another town, what is the other fans? Who are they coming to watch? Sure. I mean, God bless him, Johnny. That was Johnny.

People went to watch Johnny in all the other cities. Who on this squad? That's the indicator of a superstar. Who on this squad is drawing the other fans from other town to buy tickets in other cities? Oh, the flames are in town. Okay, who are the flames got? Should I get tickets to this game or should I give them away to my buddies? Yeah.

I mean, on the other side, if you're thinking from a hockey staff, standpoint. If you're playing a team that has a marquee guy, so let's focus on him, don't let him beat us. Maybe if you have depth and it's all spread out, it's harder to. How about both? I always like both. Well, it's all right. It's nice to have a marquee guy that the other team has to focus on and then your depth guys have more space to go great. Yeah. But it was all right.

And the other thing is, too, he's been playing, I'm trying to remember who he was with in Seattle, but he hasn't been part of this group, but has still been scoring. He was with just Justin Kirkland last night.

Connor a lot of credit because he went and worked this summer again like the majority of our players and he wants to come in and wants to almost treat it like I have to earn my way back to these spots so I'd like to see him be a guy that's responsible defensively I think he's learned to be that way having him play on that line is something he's going to have to do because we know that line plays against top players but it also makes them more of a threat so I want him to feel like he can still control the play by holding on to the puck but also at the same time continuing to

grow and recognize, hey, there's a time and a place where we have to put it deep, and I don't have to play through someone here. And hopefully as he continues to grow and develop, he'll really learn and understand that. When you're with that backland line, you have to play, and with Colin, you're going to have to play the right way. Heavy lifting? Those guys are going to keep you honest. And as you said there, yeah, you're going to be against the top players. So it's, and you're mixing things through with preseason. but it's a I think it's a pretty good badge of honor for zary to earn that spot great spot you're into training camp that's pretty great you're going you're a forward coming into camp and you're

go where can I try if you could pick one spot to be yeah every forward would be like this guy's got a couple what couple cups and this guy's the captain I know what they're going to do 17 years or whatever it is I I don't mind the fit it and again it can change could coronado slide in there Coleman moves on. And when you put up six goals, like, you can't complain at all. So it was awesome.

Behind it is I called him and I wanted to know if we want to come out. But it's pretty close to home here as far as with his family and all and what's going on there. He's a coach. First time I met him was today. I never met Johnny and Matt. I never met them in my travels as a coach. But their family's here. A horrific situation going on.

He's a coach, and he's done some great work out here with some of the youth out here. And I figure it's perfect just to get him in with us. He was hesitant at first and we kind of let him go at his timetable. And I think it worked out really well today. I gave him my camp book. We're going to check in next week and see if we can get him out here a couple more times and have him be part of it. I don't want it to just to be come out here.
