Oh, hello, everybody.
Welcome to the show.
Short-handed today.
What's all this about?
Or I'm not sure if that's the way to phrase it.
Half full.
Ryan Pinder is away on assignment today.
Self-determined design.
Yeah, it's some self-help.
No, he's off doing a little thing that I'm sure we'll see on the show at some point soon.
Uh-huh.
See, this is the problem right there.
I've got a double twist.
Yeah, you got to, so keep going.
There we go.
And again, one more.
Thanks, Dean.

moment it's never ordinary at bet three six five and inside the chat we've got a super chat who super duper
little cash donation we take it we guarantee that we will read your message on the show and send
that right down the line to the youth centers of galgary do you know what he's doing today or do you
you guys don't keep me abreast and i don't stay involved so i heard a rumor about something and i said i want
to go hit some dingers off that guy right and then that was the
last I heard of it and then he disappeared this morning.
He said, well, we've got to go in 20 men.
I'm like, we're going to shoot.
Yeah, Mike Soroka, the, the Calgary kid, been on the show a couple of times, few times.
Great guy.
Wonderful guy.
Started with the Braves.
Was he having up for a rookie of the year?
He was, he was the Shiot.
He was, yeah.
And then left Atlanta, went to the White Sox and was part of the worst baseball.
team of all time.
A couple of setbacks in there.
Yeah, yeah, some setbacks.
Now, it's Washington, right?
The Nationals, he signed a deal with the Nationals and is working out.
So we're going to-
$700 million?
I don't think it's quite to that level.
Oh, too bad.
Maybe it's one of those kind of,
well, we're going to build, build yourself back up kind of a contract.
We can look at it.
It's not about the money.
It's about resurrecting that career that looked so promising.
and to see, so what do you do?
Because we're so hockey focused.
We know what it is to, you know, skating drills and power skating and dry land and all that stuff.
What do you do in baseball if you're a pitcher?
How do you, so we're going to see what training looks like for a major league pitcher.
How long does he have to warm up?
Was he saying?
I don't know how long the warm up is, but the whole deal is 90 minutes.
Well, I think it's 90 to warm.
Oh, 90 to warm up.
And then he starts like with the heaters.
Wow.
And Pinder's going to try and get around on one.
Is that what we're.
That's what we're led to believe.
Pender's going to.
Yeah.
He's going to attempt it.
Why did we send him?
I don't know.
I mean, this will strike you as odd.
I don't have good bat speed.
How do you know once last time you,
a bit a while since I've swung the old bat.
When's the last time?
you took a cut since I've taken the old
lumber. I bet
Jackie Bear could
hey
get the barrel out there. I could smoke a couple.
Oh, for sure. Well, the thing is when it's coming
in at that velocity, all you've got to do
is just get around. I would talk to Mike and
say, listen, are you
in control of this?
Yeah. Because I'd like to stand there
and watch it zip past me, just
but feel safe about it. Yeah.
I don't want to take one in the ribs. Yeah.
That's what, and see, it's, I was going to say, I
I'm hoping Ryan does take one.
That would be good.
Right in the, right?
Is it the hot?
Probably right about there would be tremendous.
It would be tremendous.
So he's out doing nothing today.
Well, there's some filming allegedly going on.
But no, we're going to see something.
That's good.
I'm just jealous.
I know.
It's all right.
We got a lot to do today, buddy.
Really?
It was a game day yesterday.
It's a game day today.
get your helmet on, St. Louis Bluffs.
The opponent for the Calgary Flames tonight,
they'll play the Blus tonight,
and then the Blus on Thursday.
Better be a battle tonight.
She's odd.
Set up the old revenge game.
That's right.
Yeah.
So much bad blood.
Bad, bad blood.
Bad blood.
5-2, the Calgary Flames beat the Chicago Blackhawks last night, Red.
Now you were watching kid hockey.
I watched the first period.
watch the Irish Fox
come out of his den.
And then I was at,
uh,
karma got me again last night,
Dean.
Karma did.
Yeah.
Because as we know,
she's a terrible bitch.
Yeah.
We do.
That's the same.
Yeah.
How did that terrible bitch?
I have,
may have been beaking someone
about their,
uh,
Vikings team.
Oh yeah.
And Sam Darnold being awful.
Mm-hmm.
And that.
Yeah.
So I got to learn it's the same when I played.
Anytime I yipped at someone, they'd score.
Well, you were right in this case.
Yeah, I was just speaking true.
If you were, if you were chirping the Rams about how good,
how Darnold was going to stick it to them,
then maybe that would be the karma.
But you were, because Donald did not look good.
No.
They did not look good.
We'll talk about it coming up in the Penderless Pinder report.
But yes, the,
The fox.
Fox is in a den, right?
Oh, yeah.
It is a den, yes.
And a bear is in a den.
A bear, yeah.
And a pig is in a stye.
Yeah.
Where I live.
Wolf is a wolf den as well?
I think it's a wolf den as well.
Not very creative.
Not very creative.
Anyway, five, two.
So they,
they score four or more.
Damn, right.
There was no doubt.
Never any doubt,
especially when the fox came out of the den.
Lived away.
Like a fox.
Like a fuck,
who sings that?
That's like a Canadian.
We should know that.
It's not the stampeters
because they do sweet city woman,
which is great as well.
We'll figure it out.
Anyway,
Chicago's not a very good hockey team.
No, they're not, Dean.
We saw them on the 23rd or whatever the day was.
They're looking past it.
They're ready for Christmas.
It's a road game, whatever.
It was not Christmas Eve yesterday.
It was not two days away.
Maybe worse.
It was January.
Yeah, it was not our.
day or anything, they just weren't, uh, weren't great.
And yes, the Irish Fox, as you have dubbed him, Rory Karens on his first NHL shift,
gets an assist on Jacob Pellche's goal.
1846 left to go, period one, the flames.
So you, did these guys play together in the American hockey league?
some familiarity you know it is good coaching take these two guys you play it together a little bit
okay we'll put you on a line together as as opposed to just take the kid put him on the fourth line
fewest minutes possible just kind of hide them or whatever and then and then did it again
two assists in the opening frame how about it I mean it's quite a giggle
That is quite a squeal.
Yeah, I assume that's Peltje.
You say it all the time, though.
Don't be too cool to score.
You score in the NHL's a big deal.
Have fun.
Be excited.
Palchay gets excited.
It's pretty cool for Cairns.
And I forget, it strikes me as that it's Mike Gould, is the guy,
but somebody had the observation.
I'm sure it's, I'm not.
For Cairns, played in a regular season NHL game before a preseason game.
as a prospect he never got into a preseason match you think about all the there's so many of split squads in edmonton or back hoover all of those he never got into one of those but then well gets in last night's flames they know how to evaluate talent yeah they sure do they sure do you know it's a cool story i don't know where it goes from here but why not it's not like it's it's not like he's 30 guy was drafted in 2020 yep it's 2020 that weird covid shit
So maybe.
Hey, never know.
There's a few of those, there's a few of those kids that were in that 2020,
somewhere in there.
It's like, well, we just kind of stopped evaluating and kids stopped playing hockey.
We don't know if they got any better or worse or what happened.
I'm going to suggest that maybe I want to see more.
Yeah, we can wait to reserve our judgment.
We can, we can just hold off.
We can just bask in the glory of what happened last night, five goals, two points for the rookie.
Oh, baby.
Helt-Jay's contributing.
Yeah.
My boy Sharon Govich.
Told you he was going to score.
You nailed it.
The anytime goal on the bet 365 bets yesterday.
And again, it's another one of those things.
It's that old cliche.
When you're playing well, you start playing a little more shitty before you start
losing.
And when you're losing, you'll start playing pretty well before you turn the corner.
And you could see with Sharon Govich, whatever Ryan had said the other day,
11 shot attempts or whatever.
And I had kind of put in my.
I know. It's coming. It's a matter of time because Sharon Govich was noticeable with or without the puck on plays when they were not scoring.
And there again, it's the one he maybe shouldn't have scored.
Yeah, it's kind of a horseshit. It looks beautiful, right? I don't know who it was.
This is a great backhand pass. Yeah. And you know what else about this play, Rhett? This is my observation as a longtime hockey observer that you don't see it happen enough.
it's a two-on-one developing.
Get it over quicker.
Now, move it.
Don't wait until you're right at the top of the crease to go back door.
It always have to be a bang, bang.
Move it.
Get it over there quicker.
Tell the kids that all the time.
Make the D and the goalie adjust.
Yeah.
He's still kind of getting.
Anyway.
Get them moving.
Get them moving.
God, you'd be an offensive juggernaut if you could skate.
I'd be a team guy.
He would.
I'd be good in the room.
Yeah.
So you hit on, and this is kind of self-serving, but I do kind of want to bring it up.
You were sitting beside me yesterday, right here.
You were there, I was here, like just same.
As we are now.
And I had said, as far as things to maybe watch out for, in the two previous games against Chicago, Matt Coronado had scored three goals.
And you said, ooh, I like that.
So I went to my Bet365 app and an anytime goal, Matt Cornell.
What was it plus 220?
I think it was.
Baby.
And Bob's your uncle.
Take a look of this.
Take it to the board.
Pestered a bit by Nazar.
Those off sticks out in front.
Available a shot.
They score.
With a goal scorer's touch.
And he's all.
Not bad, right?
Now,
looked like a guy that was wanting to score on that ship.
Here's the official game sheet.
All right.
Take a look there.
I kind of highlighted it for you.
In blue.
So there it is.
That's the goal.
Right on the top.
What does that say?
Michael.
Yeah.
It's a Michael Backland goal assisted by Coronado.
Let's take another look.
Can you replay the tape, Jack?
I've gone over it a number of times because you know what?
Boom got screwed.
This is some BS here.
People.
Pay attention.
Now, Backland is in the vicinity.
There he is.
So somehow...
It is dead?
The shot after Coronado,
it must go off of the blade of Backland's stick,
and then in.
He did nothing.
He assisted for sure,
because he gets a piece of it there
before Coronado shoots it.
Here's my thing.
If you're the captain,
he's not allowed to do anything.
And the kid scored.
is a goal. I'm guessing
in that situation. Somebody has to bring
it to the refs attention.
No, that's the refs not going to. That will be the
war room in Toronto. Do you think?
I will think because it's for probably
the situation that you're discussing
if you've got some, some big
dough, a big unit, sponsors
with big units. Because I had a big unit on that
play right there. You were buying pizzas.
Damn it!
So I got screwed. That was that. To you throw your popcorn?
Well, I didn't until this, I think,
actually it was late last night because I went out I'm going to print off some stuff for the show tomorrow on all pender's doing his thing so I'll get the pender report do some stuff there and print this off like oh yeah I got that coronado backland backlin from court am I having a seizure I'm sure it was coroner so I look at it again it's okay now I'm looking at it again it's still coronado to me Jack could you call betman just get him on tell him that I've got a gripe two minutes I've got a beef just two minutes I've got a beef just two minutes
So we only need them for two.
Yeah, only need him for a couple of minutes.
So did you go to bed thinking you won that bet?
No, I knew because I was.
So you couldn't sleep.
I was up prepping.
And then I couldn't sleep.
Yeah.
I was plus 220 or plus 300,
whatever it was.
Damn.
Anyway, it's not about me, you guys.
All it matters is they won.
You got to just keep winning.
Three in a row.
They're terrible.
Three straight.
Top 10.
You know what else has happened is the road record,
which had been awful.
Maybe starting to come around.
It's coming around?
No, I think that's the way it goes normally.
You're going to go back.
All right.
Bring it back around like that there.
They've won four of their last five road games.
Not too shabby, pal.
No, sir.
You know?
Not too bad.
And they're on the road again.
Another opportunity for them.
So they've got a chance to.
Yeah, they can add even more to it tonight.
How about it?
Because they're on the road.
Wolf wins again.
Show off.
Is it what, seven, one and one in his last nine?
He usually plays at home.
This one's on the road.
Has been accused of playing soft opponents.
That's a soft opponent.
That actually looks like an opponent with a,
well, they're soft and even they're,
that youngster, he even looks a little frustrated
only a year and a half in.
Yeah.
Would you say the same?
I mean, he scored.
It's good for him.
Yeah, but that's, I don't.
Did you not get the sense that there was some.
For Connor Bedard?
Yeah.
Is that what you mean?
I did.
Well, you would.
And I'm very astute.
And you would know what to look for because you frustrate people and have been very frustrated.
Yes.
Over the course of time.
It gets to be a long year.
You know you're not making the playoffs.
Oh.
How many games?
It's mid-January.
That was game 44 for them.
So, yeah.
37 more.
And you're 19 in Chicago.
You can't drink.
You can't go do stuff.
I don't think of drinks anyways.
Yeah.
Anyway.
Maybe that's why you should all drink.
I don't know.
Maybe.
What about now the pospiceal hit on Taylor Hall.
It gets him five in a game for boarding.
It's going to give a meeting, too.
would suspect it will right oh i think that one was hall never he had his back to the ice to the middle
of the ice for plenty long yeah i don't know i don't know what i don't know what pospical sees there
no he's got to just be hoping that taylor hall's going to do a complete turn and try and bring it to
the middle of the ice boarding but it's uh that's dangerous it's and
you know what? Taylor Hall is lucky there because that one angle you can see where it
you know the visor and the cheekbone are right on the top of the dasher.
I know there's players. I played with them. Verrata was mean and he didn't even know
couldn't control it. Didn't know he was. Yeah. Like and I,
but there are certain situations as players. You're like, I'm not going to finish this.
because this is a legit.
Yeah.
Whatever you want to call it.
I don't want to hurt the guy.
Also, I don't want to get fined and suspended.
Not even.
I'm not even thinking about that part of it.
It's a, if I'm in this situation, I sure hope.
Yeah.
There's some thought to.
Somebody's not going to run me into the dasher.
Completely exposed with my back to the play,
just enough off the boards to get really,
really, really, really injured.
Yeah.
Hmm.
It's his first ejection this year.
He was kicked out three times last year as far as discipline.
I think.
I'm surprised.
I mean, was Felino there?
Yeah.
Well, Maroon was there.
Was Maroon?
Yeah.
I'm actually surprised someone didn't take more liberty.
You know what?
I think is that Hall got back to his feet.
Maybe.
Yeah.
If he stays down.
Because that is the kind of play where it's like,
like you know what you sir i'm going to get suspended now yeah yeah because you have done something
egregious i don't i don't i didn't like that one no that i really didn't hard to defend in any way
so we'll keep an eye like even his teammates won't like that yeah we'll see what the uh
league disciplinarian has to uh has to say about that we'll get more in tonight's game in a little bit
it's the flames and the blues six o'clock start uh
We're going to go to the Crystal Waters insider hotline.
You know, he's an insider.
I mean, this guy's an expert on everything.
You know what?
So much smarter than us.
I don't know why he comes to this show.
For years, he's coming this show.
And he must like, you talk.
Because I listen to some conversations,
a podcast or whatever.
I can't even listen to this.
These guys are like so dumb.
Oh, that's what they do.
And that's got to be what he thinks is so dumb.
Yeah, he's doing the heavy sigh right now.
Well, I'll come in and bring some credibility and knowledge to these.
Again.
Jack and apes.

Our buddy, Stephen Brunt,
we talked to him a few weeks ago.
He is back with a,
a project called Up Close, six episodes, just giving us a taste.
You know what it is?
We're going to get hooked on.
That's going to be, damn it, six are gone already.
Summer hasn't even started, and it's already.
I know, I know.
And you know what?
As you know, years ago, I was big time into wrestling as a kid, then kind of got away
from it.
And then the last few years, I've been sucked back in again.
I've been going to events, went to WrestleMania last year.
So this one I am pumped to
Not anything he does
I mean the Keith Pelly was good but this one's going to be good
Adam Copeland Edge the rated our superstar
Getting up close with our buddy and our guest Stephen
Drunt Stephen how we doing pal
Hey boom how you doing good to see you good to see you
Thanks for again yeah the credibility and smarts and brains and intelligence
To talk about wrestling perfect it all goes together right
Yeah so now we asked you last time you were on about the list of guests
that you were going to have and all that.
Do you have a relationship with Edge?
I didn't strike,
you didn't strike me necessarily as maybe being a wrestling guy.
Edge is a great guy.
Anybody that meets him and I've been lucky enough
a couple of times to meet the guy.
How did this one come to be?
No, I don't, I didn't have a pre-existing relationship with him,
but I, look, I am kind of, you know, fascinated by wrestling and I always have been
since I was a kid.
And especially the kind of the inner workings of it, I, I, the, you know,
pull back the curtain stuff, I think is really cool.
But I know, like we had, look, we know people in common.
Let's put it that way. And, and several people come up to me and said, like, he's an
amazing guy. He's a really good dude. He's really smart.
He's an insane hockey fan, big sports fan.
And thought it would be kind of a, would be a fun conversation. So we went, you know,
we went down to his house. He lives in Asheville, North Carolina, which is where the
horrible hurricane rolled through, right, last year. And still when we, even when we were
down there. Like they're still kind of digging out from that. But it's, I've never been there
before. Amazing town. Like, like the, you know, kind of the best of America, a very funky little
place. And, uh, and hung out with him for, you know, most of a day up at his house up in the
hills. And, you know, his wife's there and his kids were there. And, you know, couldn't have been
friendlier and more welcoming to us. And, uh, you know, sat down for this conversation, which,
like, the, what you'll is here on the podcast is pretty much untouched, unedited. It's not
short. But that's because it was, you know, it just kind of kept rolling and we really
hit it off. Yeah. It is the behind the curtain stuff that is just commonplace now. There's the,
the, the, the, the, the, if you were, if you were a villain, a heel and a, or a baby face,
you know, a fan favorite, you couldn't be seen traveling together. You couldn't have dinner together.
All of that is, is gone. And I don't know exactly when it started. They talked about the curtain call when
Nash and Hall were leaving for WCW and then Hunter and Sean Michaels.
They had a big hug in the middle of the ring after they had a big kind of a cage match.
It's like, wait a minute.
So are they friends?
How?
Mortal enemies.
So that kind of blew the lid off of things.
I'm almost more fascinated by it now with it being wide open and they're not trying to insult
anyone's intelligence.
I know as Triple H had on the intro the other day,
but wrestling is, it's massive right now, Steve.
It's, it's, you know, it is cyclical, right?
It kind of rises and falls,
but we're definitely on another rise.
There's no question.
And yeah, the K-Fave thing, you know,
kind of post-KFave, I guess, right?
Yeah.
One of the things that changed it,
I remember that the former WWF,
now WWE, was in a court case in the States,
and they had to, I think it was an antitrust,
and they had to go to court and say,
we're not a sport.
You know, we are entertaining.
this is scripted. We are not a sport.
So they actually had to declare that under oath at some point,
which kind of, that's another thing to kind of through the whole K-Fa thing.
You know, it's not, you know, we're acknowledging this isn't real.
I remember the ads in Toronto anyway.
It always said an exhibition of skill and science.
That's what always said at the bottom of the ad, which, you know,
which is true, right?
It is an exhibition of skill and science.
But I'm with you.
The fact that these guys can kind of talk about the craft of it now,
like talking to Adam about,
you know, how you draw heat and what, you know, how you make a crowd hate you and what it feels
like, or love you and, and what it feels like, you know, if you walk out into an arena, you know,
they play your music and you walk out and when you, you know, you know, you're succeeding because
you get that immediate, you know, whatever it's going to be, that emotion from the crowd.
And he's a big music guy. So we talked a lot about that too. But it, he said, you know, it's,
I guess the closest thing to be a rock star, right? Where you, you know, you walk out on stage.
And there's thousands of people going nuts just from your appearance.
Like it must be, you know, an astounding feeling.
And, you know, he talked about that about, you know, creating the character, creating, you know,
he's had involvement in his own storylines, you know, kind of building to certain moments.
He just had a big comeback in AEW, I think on December 28th.
He has a surprise comeback from an injury.
And again, you know, the music plays, the lights drop.
Holy smokes, who is it?
And what that feels like.
And he described that in a way that I've never heard anybody describe it before.
It's another one of those things where I sincerely feel like if you don't even like wrestling,
his story is one that you're just going to be captivated by.
There's so many neat things.
And I don't want to, you know, no spoilers.
But there's a clip here that we're going to show about how, because as a kid,
he's in Toronto, he's going to as many matches as he can.
His mom is trying to get him tickets and that sort of thing.
And he has an encounter with Brett Hart,
which really kind of sets things off for him, which is, again, crazy.
Here's the clip.
He opened that door crack.
And that's all you can do for someone.
You can't open it fully for them.
You can't because then they don't earn it.
Then they don't, you know, you can open a crack and hey, if you can kick the door off
the hinges, that's now on you.
And that's what he did for me.
Some kid from Toronto who went in someone, the Deanie Petty show, uh, the horrible
mullet and, and, and, and.
he took the time after to come find me.
And that to me just spoke to what Brett is as a person.
Goes to Deanie Petty.
I'm guessing he had no interest in the other guests or topics that they were talking about that particular day.
But yeah, Brett Hart is there and he makes a connection with this kid.
And the next thing you know, coming out to Calgary and he's trading in the dungeon and so on and so on.
It's an amazing.
That one, you wonder truly about the little touch points in life.
If he doesn't connect with Brett, how different is his life?
Yeah, I honestly believe that it's a different story.
Oh, yeah.
Like there's, you know, he's, it's like there's a bunch of stuff with him that's kind of,
you know, fairy tale stuff.
So he, like he grew up in Orangeville, which is a little town northwest of Toronto.
Single mother, no money.
Like, didn't have enough money to play hockey.
His mom didn't have enough money to put him into hockey.
So he never played minor hockey.
He's crazy hockey nut, but never played the sport.
Gets hooked on wrestling, watching it on TV.
You know, his mom finds the money to take him down to Maple Leaf Gardens
to see the old house shows that used to have on Sunday nights,
you know, hanging out by the stage door effectively at Maple Leaf Gardens,
waiting for the wrestlers to come out, you know,
getting autographs, trying to talk to them about, you know,
how you become a wrestler and all this stuff.
And he won a contest.
There was a, like, this is the kind of stuff.
There used to be a guy in Toronto who, and I think you probably,
I think you guys had it, I don't know, Ed actually did it?
Ed Whale never write for the paper because they had a guy in Toronto who wrote wrestling
like it was, like covered it.
Right, yeah, yeah.
Covered wrestling, right?
And they had a contest, right?
And the prize was that you, you got, you know, a lesson at the Sweet Daddy Seiki
wrestling school in Toronto.
And he had, like, read an essay.
And he won the prize.
That's the, so he ended up, you know, with the great sweet daddy seeky.
He just died a couple weeks ago.
Yeah, so I was going to say, didn't he just pass?
He did, yeah.
What a crazy, you know, character in a lot of ways, Sweet Daddy Ziki.
And the other part of it is, you know, he's in Orangeville.
He's in grade school.
A new kid shows up in class who's kind of shy and, you know, they don't like each other at first.
And then they started hanging out and they realized they both like wrestling.
They both watch wrestling on TV.
And that guy ends up being Christian, you know, his tag team partner.
They're still, you know, who are still connected.
right in in AEW.
So like two kids in a town of 10,000 people in those days probably.
No money, you know, no kind of insider track.
And, you know, geez, you know, Copeland's had a long career.
He's, you know, he was injured.
He was out of the sport for a while, did a bunch of movies, though.
He's been, you know, semi-successful in the movie business.
I'm like, you know, like some guy saying it's had a good run,
and Hogan made some movies and obviously the rock,
but did okay in that world.
and then came back and, you know, he's in the last,
I think he thinks he's got two years left and that his body has two years left.
So he's kind of trying to decide how you script those last two years.
Yeah.
If anybody, the stuff that he and Christian did,
well, you'll remember they came in as the brood with Gangrel.
You remember that?
Yeah, yeah.
But, you know, it's hard to make a mark when you're a newcomer.
It's how do you kind of grab people?
And they were called the brood and the one guy that Gangrel had fans.
and it was like blood and stuff.
It was instant.
There was no worry about them.
It's like, did you see?
Yes, I saw them.
And everything worked for him, man.
I love, there's the video of him at Skydome watching WrestleMania, watching Hogan.
And he's in the crowd and you see him.
And then years later, he's fighting Hogan.
It's a crazy, crazy story.
I can't wait to dig into all of this.
He talks with you a little bit about Vince McMahon.
who is still involved, but really not involved.
He has shares in the company,
but there's been so much that's happened with him.
And I'm sure people know it's not gone well for him.
Financially, he's set, of course, but there's people who love Vince for what he does within the business.
There's people who hate Vince for the guy that he is.
Without spoiling it, I guess, does he kind of get into a little bit of his workings with Vince McMahon?
Yeah, he does.
And I would say he, you know, and then again, not saying he's an
apologist for some of the horrible stuff that Vince has done because there's,
you know, you watch the documentary read the book.
Like it's all there, right?
But I would say he respects Vince, you know, in terms of the business.
Like he, there's no super hard feelings or anything.
You know, he's, I think he's loving working in AEW right now for Tony Khan,
which, you know, the, and, you know, kind of really enjoying that part of his career.
but yeah he doesn't he's not a guy that's you know uh has a huge axe to grind with vince um i think
there's some other guys in that promotion he maybe doesn't like that much yeah but uh yeah it's not
you know it's look it's not like it was when bret you know after the screw job and all that stuff
um you know although even brett kind of reconciled with vits right so i don't know you know wrestling's
funny right it's sort of like the it's sort of like the the the in ring part right that you
can be blood you know blood enemies one day and the next day you're
tag team partners, right? Like it's, it's, it's, everybody kind of seems to find a way to work together,
even if they don't like each other. Well, that's awesome. You know what? It was, it was neat for,
for me. I took my kid to one of the, it was the raw, I think Smackdown that was here last year.
And he actually came back. Edge had been gone. There was no reason to expect him to be here. And he
was kind of teeing up his last match against, uh, Seamus that was going to be in Toronto. And he got the
biggest pop, as they say, he got the biggest pop of the night for a guy that no one was expecting to be
there and has got plenty of miles on him.
So he's still a beloved guy.
And those, those matches that he and Christian did with the tables,
ladders, and chairs, a lot of what they did changed how those matches were done.
They were up for anything.
Yeah.
The only thing, you know, I've got to say, the only thing he's a little squeamish about
is the, what did they call that era, you know, the more X-rated era of,
yeah, yeah.
Right, there was some stuff that he did, you know, in character that.
Attitude era.
attitude area yeah that i think he would rather his daughter's not seen yeah he and lita there was some
stuff that was across the r superstar and the personal and professional crossed over a little bit
yeah yeah so yeah there's a there's a there's a little bit of stuff there that you know i think
he'd rather was buried in the vault but uh man yeah like a it's an incredible run like you know
top to bottom you think about how long the guy's been around and uh you know the different eras of
wrestling, you know, in which he thrive, you know, from the kind of PG stuff to the attitude
stuff to, you know, and again, in this new, you know, this newer circuit in AW, which has got
kind of a different vibe to it as well. He doesn't own edge in, like, I think WWE owns the name
edge. So he is not edge anymore. But, yeah, he is, he's had an incredible run. You know, he's
beaten himself up physically. And, and, you know, it's funny. Like, you stand next to him. You think
these guys are, you know, monsters, you know, he's, he's not a huge guy. Um, he's, he's, he's not a huge guy. Um,
He's not, you know, he's kind of normal, you know, kind of a normal-sized guy in a lot of ways.
Yeah.
He's in good shape.
Oh, yeah.
But he's not a, you know, he's not a behemoth, I guess.
No.
So what are we?
Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Sergeant Slaughter, what's next for up close on your circuit?
Well, if somebody would give me McFoly, I do that one in a heartbeat.
Yeah.
That would be a great conversation.
Yeah.
But these guys, you know, Copeland's written, he's writing,
another book. Like he wrote a book.
And,
like, he's a guy who writes his own books and,
and he reads a book a week.
Like, I walked in. He's,
his library in his house there is like walls and walls,
all kinds of stuff too, like really eclectic.
It's,
you know,
he reads a ton and,
and obsesses over the Toronto Maple Leafs,
which I,
that I can't explain. It's tough.
It's the one, it's a sickness.
Everybody's got something, right? Nothing's over 100%.
It's like, oh, you're a leaf guy.
we're doing so well. It's going so well to that point. Well, it's very cool, man. How happy are you
with how your two in, Keith Pelly, kick things off. Now you've got Edge, more to come. Where are you
in the process of recording and getting them done and researching guests and when's,
happy with how it's been coming out? Yeah, I am. I think it's been great fun. You know, I love the,
I love the folks I'm working with, you know, and, you know, they're committed to doing this right.
And you can see we're traveling.
The video part of it is awesome.
You know, really, really first class.
And we're, yeah, we're kind of right dead in the middle of it.
So we've got four more to come.
They'll all land between now and the middle of February, I guess.
But, you know, before the Four Nations hockey,
I think that's kind of our deadline to get them all in before that.
And, you know, then we'll see where it goes.
Like I love doing it.
So I hope that it's, you know, beyond these six that we can continue.
And, you know, like, it's great because, like,
can literally, you know, talk to anybody.
It's kind of like, what would be fun?
What would be interesting?
You know, we're not pigeonholed in any way, and I love that.
I said it last time.
It's perfect for what you do.
There's no time constraints.
This is so good.
Well, we got to trim something to get it for air.
No, if it deserves to be in, it's in.
You can find it on, it's going to be on the Leafs Nation, YouTube.
And then, of course, for your ear holes, wherever you get your earhole podcast type stuff.
Um, I guess aside from that you brought, I'll, I'll just ask you.
Mm-hmm.
Red and I are not super jacked up about the four nations.
But it could be that as you, we're a little curmudgeon's going to curmudgeon.
Um, what's the vibe out there?
That's a really good question, you know?
I, I think, I think it's been so long since there was an international, like, you know,
world juniors aside, which is kind of its own thing, right?
but like since there was a best on best tournament
where everybody thought boy this is the real like
there's the World Cup of hockey thing is you know
it never really settled right like the format never settled
the teams never really settled it never felt like
it didn't feel like a continuation of the Canada Cup
and they've been out of the Olympics for a long time so
I think we're all kind of out of practice
and maybe also a little skeptical of you know
yeah it's it's the middle of the season
everybody's in shape there's going to be some amazing players
there, you know, you can kind of
the lines, you know, Canada's first three lines are
going to be ridiculous. The Americans are going to be
really good. I, you know, the other things,
I think not having the Russians there, and again, I don't think
the Russians should be there, believe me.
But not having the Russians there kind of changes
it for me. I don't know about you guys.
So it's best on best, but no
Russians. Yeah.
Look, I hope it's great. I
think the hockey will be, you know,
will be really, really good.
But, you know, will it have that kind of,
you know, Olympic vibe or Canada
a cup vibe or it's hard to recreate that i don't think and i think i read i kind of yeah that's kind of
where i'm heading there i i i think it's going to be i think people would be kind of look at it
you know from a distance and kind of say wow this is really good and really fast and really
skilled and but you know is it going to get your heart beating like those tournaments you know
we'll see again maybe that's maybe that'll happen in uh you're going to need some sort of
trigger that to make it that way though right like something has to have to have
happen in these games because pender will argue this and I guess it's just my opinion and yours
being the curmudgins that we are but it's not circled on my calendar if I'm on the couch
and I'm around yeah yeah it's going on Ryan's thinking is you have to start somewhere and maybe
it'll build and grow I wonder how much of it is too that maybe there's a little apprehension or
our goaltending isn't very good we could get yeah but there's also not just the goaltending I think
there's apprehension about hockey Canada.
Yeah. Yeah. It's adding to some disdain for this.
Which is weird when you can have, you know, Connor McDavid and.
Yeah, but it's not about that. It's about, it's not about the players that team Canada has.
It's about how team Canada has.
Conducted business and performed in the world juniors last year and the year before.
And how they've, it's a deep ingrained because when you're, I'm at the race with young kids.
and I'm hearing parents that have nothing to do with hockey Canada.
But their comments are all the same.
There's an arrogance to hockey Canada.
There's a give us your money to hockey Canada.
And there's a dislike for it, to be quite honest.
I'll tell you, I felt that creeping in watching the world juniors the last two years personally
because that is so much a hockey Canada production, right?
Like that's their sound stage, right?
And it's all about the, you know, the kind of the greatness of hockey Canada in a lot of ways is the subtext of that tournament.
And I find that tournament a little harder to stomach now just because of that, you know, the background music playing thinking, oh, yeah, those guys.
Yeah.
You know, who are selling, you know, virtue and flag waving and all of this wonderful stuff for a profit.
They're not that great.
So, yeah, I, but it's interesting that's out there in the community.
And this one, yeah, I think, I guess the thing is that it's also, you know, is it going to feel kind of authentic?
You know, and that's, again, a weird word because what's authentic at this stage?
Olympics are authentic to a certain extent, only not because of how the Olympics operate.
I think, again, we all have our eyes wide open to what the Olympics are.
But it's still, I argued with Pinderbilt, I will watch Polvovalt because it's the Olympics.
Yeah.
Right?
there's there's an aura to the Olympics and going after that gold medal and being part of the Olympic tradition
there's none of that with what we're going to watch well yeah and even though the iOC are you know
horrible people and all of that stuff we can kind of suspend disbelief right and you kind of yeah
and you get sucked into it i like i did last summer again i watched hours and hours and hours
from paris because you know i you're for the same reason right um and this feels kind of like i don't know
made for TV.
It's manufactured.
Yeah, and the Olympics is manufactured too, but.
But there's a history.
Yeah.
So, you know, I think it's the hockey.
Look, and the best case scenario is that Canada is in peril, right?
Yeah.
Like that you need Canada, like, maybe not, you know, maybe you need them to lose.
But you definitely need the sense that this is not just a cakewalk.
The Canadians need to be down to garner some sort of, well, that will bring out emotion, right?
Yes.
Well, and the tradition of Canadian hockey hasn't,
we've always been really, really good and had talented players.
But what set us apart?
What did Grapes used to say, and we all used to believe in,
we had the heart.
There's going to have to be some rallying or heart,
showing of heart and overcoming the obstacle,
because that's supposed to be what hockey Canada is.
Yeah, that's, and again, if you think of,
the classic hockey moments internationally going back to, you know, God knows,
the trail smoke eaters maybe, but certainly going back to 72.
That's the narrative, right?
It's not, it's not like in, in Sochi where Canada just rolled everybody.
No.
Like, nobody, you remember anything about that tournament?
I don't.
It's that moment where they've got a, you know, Phil Esposito gets up and makes the speech
and they got a, you know, nobody believes in them.
And then they, or Gretzky goes and has a press conference at Salt Lake and says,
they're all against us.
and then the good Canadian boys rally and dig deep because they're Canadian
and they've got something that the other guys don't have.
Like that's our national story, right?
And yeah, maybe.
And I'll tell you one thing.
If the Americans are the bad guys, they're going to make really good bad guys at this point in history.
Like that's, this is a good time, you know, for them to be other.
And this could be the last year of it because we're going to lose another team when we become American.
We're just melting.
Well, they're going to take our, they're going to take our country.
country and make it a state. They're going to take our sport now.
We're going to have to give up a lot.
I feel like if it's adversity that the Canadians are going to need, I think they're going
to get it. They might get it in states.
I kind of think so, too.
I'm happy to have you on the show as always.
Yeah, please come back like tomorrow.
What are you doing Friday?
So, I mean, is this kind of your full, are you, are you, you got a book on the go or is this
kind of your full focus right?
Yeah, I have a book on the go.
It's kind of a long-term,
thing though. So, yeah, I'm not
talking about it even to my wife yet
until I feel a little more comfortable with it.
But someday there'll be a book if I,
if I finish it. Now, Edge didn't need any
help with his book, did he? I don't think he needs
any. I'd love that, man,
but I don't think he needs any help from me.
Yeah.
I mean, still.
You've written a number of books.
I have. Very good.
It is up close with Stephen Brunt
and Adam Copeland,
Edge, the rated R superstar.
get a listen to it get a watch i'm pumped for it i'm pumped for you to have you just doing what you
should be doing appreciate your time buddy we'll do it again soon yeah thanks boys good seeing you
see you guys the leifes nation youtube is where you'll find that particular interview
went to because i was wondering when i saw the the backdrop there it's like
where are they doing this is maybe a copeland said it's like went to ashville north carolina
that's not bad you ever been to ashville no but i'm now going are you yeah yeah
show up and rated our stupid stars yeah yeah we know where you live now pal hey i'm buddies with
step and brunt can i come in oh he's a hockey fan i can play the fake hockey player he's a big hockey fan
it is leaps though i think he even saw i beat the leaps in 99 i'm not sure if that would
bond you too i'm not sure that's exactly how he does seem like a gem of a guy oh and that's
Yeah.
And it's funny in that business.
And we don't need to go too far down that even still the nice guys,
there will be people within the locker room.
Can't stand them because you're too nice and you're too relatable and you're this and you're suck up.
Ass kisser.
Yeah.
It's like Jack.
Yeah.
Just climbing the corporate.
Can't be trusted.
Don't know what he does, but behind closed doors.
Just something.
There's shiv in your back when you're not.
you're a little rusty shake do you know who edge is jack i do now okay did you prior i knew he was a wrestler
i just wasn't he is being around forever and the fact that he's still going boggles my mind like i'm
disgusting and like i i i did i did a i did 20 bodyweight squats the other day and i can't go to the
washroom. So he's still going.
Isn't an internal thing or you just can't sit in the pot? Yeah, I can't get to it.
Or you get on the pot and then you can't get off. Yeah. It's so yeah. I'm going to have to
wait a couple days for this inflammation. Yeah. Flea my body. I'm finding that. He's still
PIP. He's still in the ring? Still in the ring. What? Oh, yeah. I like, oh,
there's no faking a body slam. No, that's the thing. It's, uh, is it. Oh. Yeah, it's scripted.
not you get dropped oh oh no question about it that hurts ouch right well it used to be as i'm getting
older um i'm going to do something at you know exercise or whatever day two after will
be the worst i'll be that's when i'm the stiffest the most sore but then by day three it's it's
no it's about nine hours after i'm done it doesn't even wait for two days and then it stays
for about three or four days.
I did a 20 minute bike ride yesterday and had to have a nap afterwards.
Got me.
How old do you think he is?
43.
Holy F.
And I was going light thinking that's the only way he could still be doing it.
Is that true?
Well, why would it be wrong?
He's been around a long time.
What is it?
He's 51 years old.
Oh.
October 30th, 1973.
Let's get him on.
He'd come on.
He is.
He's one of the nicest guys.
Remember,
we were there last year in Toronto?
Yeah.
And he came on with,
Oh, that's right.
He was.
Leaves Nation guys.
Anyway, Steve.
51.
He's slamming around.
What?
Into the turnbuckle.
Somebody asking again, is it on YouTube?
Go to the Leafs Nation,
YouTube channel, and it'll be on there.
Yeah.
Just like anything in life, go to Leafs.
Just go to Leafs.
Yeah, it's all about the Leafs.
Don't worry about us out here, just whatever.
Only Brett Hart, you know, Calgary's no reason.
There's no wrestling history in Calgary to speak of.
Nothing here.
We don't even know what it's about.
Booster Juice.
I could use one right now.
What would you go with?
Is that the bit?
Do they still have that one at the Cardell rank?
Yeah.
Because that used to be.
No.
I think that's the other one.
Because I'd be getting, you get the kids in the ice.
And one at the other.
And then they had one of those kind of the chicken
cassidia wrap deals that they put in the Panini press
and a nice little protein shake.
Damn, it's good living.
They are the proud puck partner
for our upcoming Jasper Pond Hockey Tournament,
January 23 to 25, up in Jasper.
Looking forward to getting back up there
after everything that took place.
going to be kind of an emotional thing, I think,
because it's such a beautiful part of the world.
I think we're just naturally because of proximity
tied to BAMF, whereas Jasper is
much like BAMP, but it doesn't have as much,
I don't know, it's not as many chain restaurants
and chains, you know what I mean?
It's less, anyway, we're going to be there.
And we're going to be powered by Booster Juice.
Visit a location today to refuel, refresh, and re-enner.
or download the new booster rewards app to earn order and enjoy.
That's one of those things.
A mango hurricane.
That's my,
a little big man.
If you're into your,
you know,
New Year's,
funky monkey.
I like the funky monkey.
You too.
You know,
New Year's you want to,
I'm going to start to maybe eat a little better,
do a little bit more.
Booster juice.
It's perfect for you.
Some protein,
sugar-free stuff in there.
Or just go right over the top and have it as sweet as you want.
We're not going to judge you.
Nope.
Do whatever you want.
Because one day he'll be 51 and in the ring.
He's older than me.
And there's not many people that are older than me anymore that are alive anyway.
Gives me hope.
Gives me hope.
Let's do the Pender Report, Jell?
Yeah, do it.
All right.
What did you do for the Pender report today?
Because you knew Pinder wasn't going to be here.
Yeah, I knew Pender wasn't going to be here.
So started scrolling.
I did my rounds.
Yep.
I actually had something.
And it's CTEed.
you got to do the notes on the phone
you can even do the voice one yeah uh anyway
Pinda report presentation of village Honda
located in the northwest automall and online at village honda
dot com the ridge line we've been talking about it
if you've not driven a ridge line you need to if you're a truck guy
a truck person but you feel like man i love having a truck
but i want a truck it is awfully big and it's it's more
definitely more than I need, but I like having a truck.
Then you need to get behind the wheel of one of these ridge lines because you have the box.
It's a sheet of plywood flat in the box of it because they don't have the axle on the backs.
You don't need the wheel wells as high.
Anyway, rides great, all-wheel drive.
It's perfect for Calgary.
And when you need the box, you got it.
You can take one for a rip at Village Honda.
VillageHonda.com.
I don't know why.
Do I even do.
As we can play in. There it is. It's pinned a report.
Flames last night beat Chicago 5-2.
Rory Karens, the Irish Fox.
Irish Fox gets an assist on his first shaft,
two assists in the first period,
and helps lead the flames to victory.
That's probably the storyline, right?
That's what they do.
Led by Rory Karens, Flames.
Get it done.
Sharon Govich, scoring, ending a 15-game drought.
It's got to feel good, Dean.
Got to feel real good.
good. Yeah. Because you're a goal score.
He should have scored on other shots. Yeah, there's some other chances. That one probably
could have been a save. Nice enough. And you know what? Also in there,
Jacob Peltche, two goals for his two goal game. I'm happy for the kid. Three points. He also
sounded excited. And guess what? We talked about it yesterday. This team doesn't score enough
goals. So if everyone starts contributing, holy guacamole.
You want to chip in.
That'd be great.
Wait, the second half, you're going to score at the pace we expected?
My goodness.
Yeah, I wasn't there, but my understanding is Huska didn't rip into them for scoring more than three.
Well, first of all, it's Huska.
Like he was fine with it.
So five, eh?
Don't be doing it.
Meanwhile, Vladars in the corner, stewing, you sons of bitch.
Five, eh.
So, yeah, for Wolf, that was his fourth straight start.
He won three of them, seven one and one in his last nine.
we'll see how they
divvy things up here
they got St. Louis tonight,
second in the back to back with travel
and then they play St. Louis again
coming up on Thursday.
Marty Pospisal ejected from the game.
We talked about it earlier.
First time this year
that he has been tossed,
but he has a history.
He's got a reputation.
We'll see what the league has to say about it.
Probably not good.
I wouldn't think so, no.
Probably not.
good so yes tonight the first of two versus the blus in three days and we can take a look easy travel
four and a half hour drive i'm sure they hopped on the bus had some chicken parm you think that's what
they did chicken parm on the bus can you imagine hey hey guys you know we were thinking instead of
taking the charter we're just going to bus into st louis i know we played a more but we got some
chicken parm to go from louis here in chicago you guys are going to love it
Imagine what they would say.
Well, it's not allowed, actually.
Is it not?
I think it's in the CB of A.
Huh.
Damn.
Sorry, I interrupted.
No, I was just, I'm kind of looking at it.
So, Rory Karrantz, let's take a look at it.
We talked earlier, gets into a regular season game before he even plays a preseason game.
So, yeah, that's some, like you say, shoddy scouting, perhaps on behalf of the, there it is.
All time points per game leaders.
Pack it in, kid.
Pack it in.
Hard to beat.
Wayne who, they said.
See if Cairns can keep up this torrid pace if he gets back into the lineup tonight.
I presume he would.
I presume we would.
Could we look at the blues lines?
I think you had that in there.
See what these St. Louis Blues are all about.
Does this speak to what we've talked about for years?
The deduction of one player does not mean it's a net.
Yeah, you don't fall to zero.
You don't, it's not like you have to play with fewer players.
You still get to dress a full lineup.
Somebody else comes in.
can contribute they're allowed you're allowed to yeah you are allowed to uh the blues fell to one to
columbus on saturday bittington two on 30 they're they're they're kind of flamesy right now two and
three in their last five they're they're they're they're kind of right there with the flames
are they old are they there's the uh the morning skate lines from jeremy rutherford
Jake neighbors local kid Jim's boy Jim rutherford I don't think so I don't think so no
No.
Oh, no.
Same last night.
Yeah, it is.
There's Cam Fowler.
He came in in mid-December.
He's playing 20-plus minutes a night, which is not...
I didn't know he was 100 years old, but he was.
Not stunning.
They are led by Jordan Cairo,
38 points and 19 goals, tops in both of those categories.
Rob Thomas is having a great year again.
He missed some time.
He was out for 12 games.
Yeah, I already killed him because he didn't have many points
and then I didn't realize that the game's played.
Right, yeah, he's got 33 of those.
points in 32 games so he's pretty good that way that this Thomas guy was supposed to be good
um well and uh Holloway again local kid since December 23rd five goals and eight assists for 13
points where's neighbors from uh local kid is you know what yes yes that's what i'm like yeah
i know huh mm-hmm break up uh not exactly local not really local
right right
right
right
definitely not
Darcy
yeah
yeah
um
they hired
Jim Montgomery
back in November
11 8 and 3
with him
as the coach
guess it was worth it
not sure
who was there before
uh
banister
yeah
Drew
it's probably
probably
no shots
you drew sorry
so Bennington as he saw
there is in the starters net
he is one of the three
Canadian goalies
for the upcoming
four nations and hence the inspiration we all have for the squad and i'm so excited for it i did
have to go and find out who the other two were it's like oh yeah who is it okay give me a second
okay uh Vegas yeah aden hill and montreal sam montembo well done excellent job by you insider
yeah there's a lot of similarities here power play flames 19th blues 23rd pedally kill flames 30th
blues 27th 30th is not a good number it's not good and again last night they you know
butards goal comes in the power play so that made them one one for one i believe on the night yeah
so not ideal six o'clock start it's going to be me and somebody on afterburner tonight i'll go
with you dean i'm not sure i believe it's pike is it pike i believe so was someone bekeed me
on Saturday night
Beaking you
were you in the chat
is that you?
That was me
I didn't see that
Were you in the sauce?
I feel like somebody was shit talking
Really?
Pardon my language
Yeah yeah
Giving me the gears
I thought I heard my name
What
Possibly negative
It was gold so maybe
Maybe he was beaking me
It's terrible
I thought for sure they'd notice, too.
I was looking for some attention.
You were a?
I was sitting in the hotel.
I had my big bowl of dip with some chip thinking I'm hilarious.
They don't see me.
I'm going to have to go all caps on my name.
What am I going to have to do here?
Last night, quiet night, three games.
The Floridians had a lead in.
Panther?
Yeah, the Floridians of Panther had a lead against the flyers.
but worst leading hockey.
Two to one after 40.
They had been 16 and all.
And chicks dig the Pantaros when they win.
They do.
Yeah.
Check out this goal.
Now, Sam Reinhart just scores goals.
Old Bucky.
Had two last night, one of the power play,
and this one is short-handed.
Decent skill.
But they didn't win.
Drives down looking to hold in.
It comes to the line.
Here comes Reinhart.
One-on-one against the forward connect knee.
Reinhart.
Nice move.
Rightheart.
In front score.
Shorty.
Whatever.
It was connecting.
I'm going to go by him.
Sorry.
Just pillar to post right through everybody.
Way out the goalie.
You know what's weird is that Neckley was looking at the chest.
He just didn't.
Yeah.
And not a great angle from where he scores.
Anyway, hell of a player.
Had another couple last night.
Couldn't skate.
27.
Yeah, that's the problem.
So slow.
His feet.
And Kachuk, the same thing.
I don't know.
how those how do they have a team wow it's the ice the ice in florida's no good so it slows
it brings everybody down to their level 27 on the year for reinhart was in philly yeah
it's too bit of a hole in our logic 27 leon has 31 those are tops yeah leon i'll catch him
uh edmonton meanwhile it was not a goal for leon he did get an assist on connor mac david's
17th it was his birthday oh good
Stu Skinner 30 saves for the shutout,
1-0-0-0-win over the Kings.
Oilers have won 6 of 7.
Why do I find McDavid hard to...
Is he an oiler?
Yes.
Okay.
Yep.
You would like everything about him
in any other circumstance.
That's probably true.
Skates, hard works.
I mean...
Kings have lost back to back after...
My God.
Winning five in a row.
Yeah, the kings suck.
We're going to...
And we can't catch him.
Can't catch him.
No.
Too good.
us.
Our buddy Dregs reporting that John
Klingberg, remember him?
He was in Dallas,
wanted a new contract,
needed a new contract.
So, well,
you just gave Merrill Heiskenen
eight or nine million a year,
whatever it was.
Dill dip.
Dill dip.
Well, we can't give you that
because you're John Klingberg
and he's Meryl.
Heskinen.
So then he left
and went to Anaheim
and Minnesota and then Toronto
and since has had
hip resurfacing surgery.
I don't know.
feel like I need that you do I do it a big way my right hips it's no good uh drag says he's
coming back it's been resurfaced he's working his way back five to seven teams sniffing around
including Toronto Ottawa and Edmonton I never thought he was as good as he thought he was
but I also didn't think as bad he was as he ended up made himself oh yeah ended up being um and
maybe that's the hip it could be and you know what he did he took our buddy treef uh to the clean
trainers. Trillivings signed them for a one-year deal. 4.15 million played 14 games.
Hip. I got a bad hip. I'll take the money tree, but.
Or do you just stink? Potato potato.
Let's take a look at the standings. Yes. I like the standings, Dean.
Before we get into tonight's action, and there is a lot of it. I'll warn you right now.
Look at that right there, Dean.
The Calgary Flames. And St. Louis is going to catch us. I don't think.
think so not tonight or tomorrow flames get to 49 points in the overall standings that puts them
one ahead of vancouver you can eliminate st louis from the equation if you win tonight
must win hockey really yes we're not going to make up six points with
half the season left two games less to play yeah it would be it would be a very listen you're
not into math this is what i'm
do for fun.
It ain't happened.
Do you?
Okay.
Sorry for a row.
Lost win game.
Says you.
Anything else there that jumps out at you?
Vegas and Winnipeg are pretty good.
I feel like,
is L.A. losing a couple?
I mean that maybe my fact
that I overlooked them all the time, they're not as good as...
I don't know. I wonder if, again,
much like the...
There's stuff going on in their lives right now.
Yes, there is.
There's a whole bunch, team.
There's a lot going on there.
They're away from home.
They don't have their best defensemen.
Probably not ideal for them.
Are they achievable, though?
Is this a team that, you know, we're talking about Vancouver,
who we've surpassed, sorry, Canucks?
Well, because I don't, you're not catching Vegas.
You're not catching Edmonton, Winni, a big mini, Dallas,
uh, uh, Colorado.
Even though their points percentage would be way lower,
I just feel like,
if they need to win a game, guess what they're going to do?
Win.
All you do is win, win, win, no matter what.
Anyway.
I wonder, though, this would be, wouldn't it be a interesting scenario if near the end of the season or whenever they make good that King's Flames game down in?
Final game.
Hey.
Hey.
Could be a lot on the line there.
Yeah.
Could be a lot riding on that one.
Boys and girls.
Tonight.
there are 13 games
13 matchups tonight
we'll just kind of walk you through it in no particular order
because I just started putting stuff down
Boston.
Capitals hosting Anaheim, Ovi is 22 goals away
from breaking the record.
Feels like he's going to do it this year.
Wouldn't surprise me.
The Wings host San Jose.
They have won seven in a row.
What are going to make it eight?
That's what would happen there.
If you've won seven and then you win another one,
that makes it an eight game winning streak.
Nine is the franchise record for Detroit.
That's it?
Yeah.
You would think for a team that's been around for as long as they have.
And they have 160 points when you're?
Oh, my God.
Crazy.
Bruins host Tampa Bay.
You mentioned they're free falling.
Three wins in their last 10.
There are goals for and against minus 26.
And you look at teams that are in a playoff.
spot it's not not ideal not ideal stars at leifes the beauty is i'm happy to see the boston fall out
are you i wonder do you think what uh what the exchange is like or if there's a bit of a stink
i when cam neely passes jeremy swamming in the hall it's like you son of a bitch you're so
great with your 887 same percentage prick stars at leaps Toronto tops in the atlantic but has lost
to back. They're good at home.
17 home wins. Only Vegas
has more with 18.
Might be the marquee matchup right there.
Could be. Stars lost to Ottawa on Sunday,
but they're still eight one and one in their last
10. We saw what the Flyers did. They came back and won.
They won't slow down. I mean,
stop. No. They grind.
Jackets. No one pays attention to them. They won four in a row
in five or six. Oh, they're in the playoffs. They're doing real well.
Yeah.
Jack's Penguins.
Suck.
Lost five of six.
They were beaten five nothing by Ottawa on the weekend?
Five nothing and then five two against Tampa.
Run out of their own building at home.
That's right.
That's too bad.
The crack in an old scream in hell.
They've also lost five of six.
Panthers Devils.
Panthers played last night.
New Jersey second of the metro.
Senators at Islanders.
Points percentage has Ottawa in in the east for a wild card spot.
And the Islanders, it's no point.
They are the forgotten.
have we mentioned the islanders before
and they have fiery Patrick Wa is their coach
you would think there'd be something some blowups
nothing's just very louis
bunch of old fuddy dutties only buffalo is below them
in the east as it sits not for long
lindy won't stand for
the golden nights at the predators
Vegas tied with Washington for tops in the league
and the predators have 13 wins
that's tied with San Jose for autumn
in the league the least amount of wins the fewest wins in the league so trots was thinking this year yeah
poor trotsie i like trotsy you like good things to happen to good people but it feels like that's
not the situation there i think old trotzies had it real good for quite a while so i don't know if i
feel too bad for him i'm 30 40 years he's been in the game a long time game's been good to him he's
living in Nashville. He's had about 25
of those in years in Nashville. Great taxes
and making lots of dough, Stanley Cup.
What are you feeling bad about Trotsy for? Not a thing.
All right then. Yeah, Canucks of Jets.
Slap him around, Shifley.
Yeah, showed you the standings there. They are tied with Vegas
for tops in the league with 29 wins.
Philip Horanick has rejoined
the Canucks in Winnipeg. Expect that he'll play.
They are one back of Calgary for the second wild card.
Boy, what a big win. What I was.
What a turn of events tonight could be.
They did beat Toronto on the weekend.
It's the last of a five-game road trip for the Canucks.
And they're in Winnipeg?
Yeah.
They lose them.
Rangers at Avs.
Rangers have clawed back to 500.
They're four back of a wild card.
The avalanche, they're still good.
Even though they lost in Winnipeg on Saturday,
they're 8, 2 and 1 in their last 11.
Tidy.
And the habs at Utah.
Have you been paying attention to the haves?
Very streaky.
nine, two and one in their last 12.
To the point, it was last week,
the Kent Hughes had to come out and say,
hey, just, I know I,
we're very happy,
but this is not,
we're not switching course here,
we're being patient.
Why doesn't Conroy come out and give us some direction?
Comes out and talks about himself in prime.
I don't know if he does.
I'm the greatest,
scored goals.
I'm part of the all century team.
Well,
he can only answer or talk about the questions that he's asked.
You know what, you're right.
Come on.
So that's the score tonight, 13 games.
It's a lot of hockey there.
No football.
Flames are in action.
That's okay because the football sucked.
Yeah, we will talk about that.
Now, I know you kind of watch your, again, on your rounds.
And you're very invested in the upcoming NHL draft and the draft eligible players.
Today, the NHL released their central scouting update.
They do this throughout the year.
Is it an HL run, man?
Yeah, it's that central
That department, Central Scouting.
And looking here, James Higgins,
who had been kind of the consensus number one,
second number two,
Matthew Schaefer,
defenseman for the Erie Otters.
I'm worried, I can't just.
I'm in a conundrum.
Are you?
Because I like how that kid plays at Schaefer.
Okay.
But then I'm like,
well, he's kind of come out of nowhere.
Is he just on a hot streak?
Or is this?
Central scouting people would say no
They seem to think that it's
But they're not worried about five years
I am because I'm running an organization
I got to make the right pick
I only get one shot at this
Right
And what do you see in James Higgins
A quality, a quality person
Quality family
Quality individual
You want to call his dad
We can
Yeah I know Jack's trying to get a hold of Betman
Oh yeah
What were we calling him about?
your bet oh yeah my that got screwed out of my big unit
anyhow that's what it looks like
and they also released uh the european skater they put the
the european guys on a different chart yeah we can't compare
can't uh can't do it so there you go we don't care about the europeans office
yeah it's very biased um NFL
a wonderful 14 and three season for the Vikings
Great season.
Sam Darnold.
MVP, I had heard at one point.
Well, remember it was like two weeks ago.
I think it was after,
week 17 or whatever when Sam Darnold was doing a TV interview
and then was late getting into the locker room
and they erupted and they lifted them up on their shoulders
and showered him with Evian water.
And it was beautiful to see.
In the eight quarters,
Since that celebration, they scored one touchdown and were outscored 58.18.
I keep telling you, these baseball players, they're always drinking and boozing and not staying focused.
Come on. Sam.
Baseball players?
I know, it's just a reference.
Oh, got you.
Over celebrate.
Don't celebrate too soon.
Yeah.
Do it like this is what you're supposed to do.
So how many millions did he light on fire?
Oh.
It's crazy.
Tens.
10s at least.
I think he'd probably be going for like a
four year $100 million contract.
Now it's going to be like a still might to lose teams.
He'll probably still get money, but it's hard to defend
if somebody wants to say, listen,
at 279 was a score last night.
The Vikings got their doors blown on.
And he did not look good.
No, did not look good.
In the two games that equated to playoff games,
when the pressure was at its highest,
something mattered?
He was no good.
last night he was set
nine times
he can't control the side all those
okay nine
nine no he can't
I'd like to go through all of them Jack
can you
meanwhile
I sent you the video
yeah Matt Stafford 19 of 27
for 209 and two touchdowns
they looked very comfortable
they sure did they did not look like a team
that was not ready to play
despite being in Los Angeles
I saw it was John Bender
I've heard that name.
Yeah, our buddy John, he had the,
because somebody was talking about Sean McVeigh
and with every year the coaching cycle does what it does.
Sean Michaels, the wrestler?
No, not the heartbreak kid.
Although McVeigh, good looking guy.
He's a heartbreak.
Yeah, for sure.
In the eight years, he has been in Los Angeles.
They have made the playoffs six years out of eight,
eight playoff wins,
won a Super Bowl,
and drafted in round one,
only once.
I don't know.
Because they've shipped out a bunch of those picks.
So is GM good or is it?
I think he's,
you know,
he's part of it.
Okay.
Yeah.
Would you take a couple of playoffs win,
Jack?
Heck yeah.
I don't know how they've done it.
Like Aaron Donald retired as well.
Yeah.
They've just kind of rebuilt on the fly.
He's in,
he was in many.
Who?
I don't know.
Aaron Donald.
He used to play for the rounds.
Oh,
his brother,
Sam's in many.
You got them.
Look at them.
I don't,
you never like to step on somebody's laughter.
You're getting a lot of it right now for that.
I really want you to bask in it.
Take it all in.
Good?
Yeah.
Divisional round is set.
Saturday is going to see Kansas City hosting Houston.
Do you like the Kansas City rib
compared to the St. Louis rib or the barbecue sauce is really the only difference?
I'm ashamed to say I don't know that I've
actually done the comparison.
Yeah.
I feel like I don't like the Kansas City as barbecue as much.
More of the Texas.
Well, isn't the St. Louis?
Don't they use the side ribs?
Yes.
You got all the bones and I don't get it.
It's like you know there's back ribs, right?
Is it anyone made you aware of the baby back ribs?
So much better.
Is that what they do in Kansas City?
Because if that's the case, I would take Kansas City over St. Louis.
Call Connie.
He's in St. Louis.
Six o'clock game.
on Saturday will have Detroit, home to Washington.
I saw somebody they were talking about with Dan Quinn and Dan Campbell,
just going for it on fourth down every time,
just points galore, has the makings of a fun football game.
Then on Sunday, the Rams are going to be in Philadelphia
to play the Eagles, and oh boy, the afternoon game,
the Buffalo Bills taking on the Baltimore Ravens.
is your sphincter puckered already or area yeah it's part of the reason of not just my workouts
yeah uh the dallas caboys announced that mike mccarthy will not be back what
yeah it seemed like the likely outcome last year the year before the yeah yeah so a number
of coaching spots have these bear ribs in st louis are the shits i don't think they know what
they're doing them somewhere down in texas those guys are saying guys are idiots you're
Real dumb.
There is some thought that Jerry.
Jared Jones.
And the thing for Mike, you could have interviewed with some teams.
Can still do it.
But you also, there was some offensive coordinators in that that are still playing.
Their teams are still playing.
You could have interviewed them, but that window was closed for Jerry.
I hate that.
There's thought that maybe Jared don't care because he knows who he's going to bring in.
And that is University of Colorado coach and former cowboy Dion Sanders.
Highs. Coach Prime.
Wasn't he a Heisman,
did he win a Heisman?
It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter.
It's good when I did it.
Yeah, I was like,
well, I'm surprised your shoulder didn't pop out or something.
I thought you were going to say Bill Belchick.
No, Billy's at North Carolina.
Don't give a shit. Billy go where Billy want to go.
Well, and Billy apparently is being
courted. Coerced
by TB12, maybe to come
down to Las Vegas and run the Raiders.
Bellichick said, where were you three weeks ago?
stupid, Brady, idiot.
You didn't know I was around it?
You've always been an idiot.
Dope.
You waited until I'm committed.
I think he'll probably stay in North Carolina.
Asheville?
Maybe.
Or is that south?
North.
Jack, check the tape.
Can you call Stephen?
I know.
And I know it's the Pinda report, so I need some dumb stuff and I need, so we'll start
with, you know when you're out kayaking?
Yep.
You got a lake there at your place?
and maybe sometimes like, oh, we stop moving.
It must be on a sandbar or something.
Oh, I run aground.
Oh, my gosh.
I can't seem to, can't keep moving.
This was, was this McKenzie Lake?
I'm trying to, seems weird to be.
Similar.
Wouldn't be frozen over.
But yeah, I can't.
What the heck.
Are we stuck on something?
Oh.
It's a mahusive gator.
Hello.
Hello, friends.
Are we out for a quick paddle?
May I recommend the, what's the, it's on a hoverboard, the paddle board, because I'd hate for you to fall off and become lunch.
Boy, still don't like them.
Nope.
And this one, I'm going to need your expertise in animals, wildlife.
This is, I don't know where this grocery store is, but just, without saying, this is not going to go, I think, the way you think, the way you.
think it does can you go full screen on this one jack just so we can kind of get this is as big as
it all okay they're in the heart of section they're not checking hands there something in there
I don't know is that they've got their brooms out so that's good oh oh
Oh, no.
Is that a coyote?
That's a yolk.
How the H?
And right back in.
Right back in.
It's so nice and cold in there.
Maybe it's in the desert.
You guys in Glendale?
It's so hot.
Not sure I've ever seen a coyote in the grocery store.
No, I haven't either.
I wonder what, I'm not buying meat there.
No, I'm probably not going back.
probably not going to go back.
So the...
Fallows.
Backdoor.
Did it walk in through the front?
Interesting.
That's the Pinder Report.
Very wily.
Yep.
Well, I thought that was great.
Jack?
Jack didn't even catch it.
No.
I missed it.
Yeah.
He doesn't know what it is.
The Pinda Report is brought to you by Village Honda,
located in the Northwest,
automol and online at VillageHonda.com.
What did you say?
It's talking about the coyotes,
and he said, they're Wiley.
Wiley the coyote.
Like Wiley E. Coyote.
That was pretty quick.
I don't, well, yeah.
That was pretty quick.
Someone was CTE.
W.
Right?
Yeah.
Oh, for sure.
There you go.
I don't want to alarm anyone,
but today is January 14th.
That's halfway through almost.
What?
Well, or.
What happens on February 14th?
Oh.
Yes.
Ding.
Valentine's Day is a month away.
I know what you're thinking.
You've got your feet up.
You're like, oh, fine.
I mean, Christmas went pretty well.
I got some stuff under the tree.
She was pretty happy.
We got married in August.
Her birthday is not until September.
I'm cruising.
Sound the alarms.
We're a month out from Valentine's Day.
We need a ding-ling-ling-ling.
I got a
I think I have like the
anyway too late
my eyes
this is really caught me off guard
so that we'll call that the alarm
luckily
Viena Nova is here to help
they got your back yeah see Jack had the thing up
even before we even
that's how it should work
Valentine's Day Christmas
anniversaries birthdays
I need a gift, need a gift, be it a nova, being it over, being it over, being it's how it goes.
Market Mall.
So good job, Jack, good job by you.
Market Mall, the new location.
I slid by their pre-Christmas.
Check things out.
Slythery. Beautiful little spot.
Everything in there, lab grown.
They are lab-grown diamonds.
They're not the stinky, dirty locks that they're taken out of the ground.
These are pristine.
They're perfect in every way, shape, and form.
I've been singing that song to myself.
same chemical composition and crystal structure as an earth mine diamond.
Same hardness, light refraction.
That's the, yeah.
We've talked about some gemologists.
They'll get their thing out.
I can't tell the difference.
Actually, you know what?
I can tell the difference on this one because clearly this is the earth mine diamond
because it's not as pure.
There's some artifacts in it.
There's some stuff in there.
So, why don't know.
get the better stuff.
And the thing about the better stuff is it's at it.
It's savings up to 60, 70,
sometimes 80% off lab grown as opposed and compared to the earth mine diamonds.
Vinova.com is the website.
They are located in Market Mall.
You have, it's the Valentine's Day alone,
one month today.
One month today.
Let Justin and Vinova take care of you.
That's the only saving grace from me.
I was so you when you brought it up anxiety level yeah and then jack throws that on there very
quickly yeah it's why we keep talking about there's no need to stress and the thing about it is
is you're not just going to get ahead of it you don't you're going to sometimes just need to buy
something okay well it's something but it's also a home run they're going to their the minds are
going to i can't believe this you're you're the perfect you're my soulmate I mean if that
that's what you're looking for. Some people are looking for romance
and soulmates and stuff. One's
enough for me, Dean.
Yeah. Well, you were talking before the show
about you were kind of looking down
the road and... Yeah, I went for
thinking about the days
maybe down the line when it could just be you
and the shovel are all by yourselves. When the kids
are grown up and you're... Alone
and together. Yeah.
No distractions, nothing
in the house to
keep you two from spending every
waking moment together.
day after day after day.
No kid hockey, no school, no parent-teacher interviews.
And once, finally, they ain't coming back.
No?
There's zero chance.
Because they'll be hugely successful or?
Oh, for sure.
Yes.
Or it's because dad changed the locks.
The garage code doesn't work anymore.
Thank God. Dad.
No.
No.
Downsized.
Yeah.
Bet365.
I got some dozy.
You're on a roll.
Sharon Govich,
anytime goal, hit yesterday.
Off the post.
No, the post is what you said.
I'm trying to reference that as a good thing,
but it wasn't off the post.
No, for a goal, you want to go ahead.

markets on there.
And you're, I mean, it's, it's been, it's been, I did not do all that well in, uh,
just straight ups, but there are some parlies and some boosts here and there.
It's a pretty good deal.
Bet 365.
Let's take a look at our bets of the day for bet 365, courtesy of our buddy, Rhett Warner.
Well, Dean, you know me in the French.
We love the parley.
Parlay, vu.
Yeah.
Le Francaise.
is what I always reference.
Okay.
So we're going with the three French teams.
Yeah.
On a three-leg parley, Ottawa plus one and a half.
Montreal plus one and a half.
And Colorado minus one and a half.
Right, because Ottawa is right beside Gattano.
There's a lot of French people there, Montreal, La Belle Provence, and Denver.
Quebec City.
They came from Quebec.
There's a carryover.
Okay.
Avs are hosting the Rangers.
You've got them winning by two or more.
The Sends, what do we have the Sends doing today?
They are at the Islanders.
They've got one and a half against the Islanders.
Come on, kidding me?
And Le Habs are taking on Utah.
I like it.
Love the French.
Parlay.
And you've got some flamethring.
The other thing I like, Dean, is some grinders.
Some real defensive specialists committed to the trade.
to their craft and what speaks more i could remember having to negotiate with darsie bergear
yeah on and what would i negotiate for goals probably not no assists points not your forte no it's
not dean but i'll tell you what i did do i blocked the damn shots yeah you would yeah i really
did and i got rasmus the swedish lover anderson blocking over two of
and a half shots tonight for plus
145. Even if he doesn't mean to, he's going to get hit
three times. Yeah. The thing about, and last
night he had one block shot, but there's not a lot of
pucks coming at the net with Chicago. It's not really, St. Louis
is going to be better at that. Oh, four. Yes,
absolutely. And then the other one that I was
dynamite at, the old plus minus. You just
step on the ice, you get that plus. Yeah.
Cheat away, Bikensi Weeger.
Cheat away. Over. I can't read. It's too small, Jack.
Point five.
Just get a plus one or better.
He was plus one last night.
Yes.
There's a star in the league.
Plus one 55th,
that's got me.
Weger's involved in a lot of,
he's on the ice.
Is he on the ice at all?
He's on the ice all the time.
It feels like ever.
Did he put up points?
Weigs eat last night,
2341.
Oh,
we're on the team.
You're so smart.
Yeah.
And you know,
if you had taken Weiger for block shots,
he didn't have any last night.
maybe between Viena Nova and our bets of the day and all that.
He's here to help.
Swedish lover, hey?
Is that,
it's new,
but it's true.
Okay.
When he retires and starts wrestling,
that's going to be,
that's new,
that's his call.

You're going to love it.
If you haven't been doing it,
you're like,
oh, these guys keep talking about betting.
I think I kind of get it.
you get in there and you start looking around and before you know it,
you're going to be loving it.
Loving it.
A question of concern.
All right.
If your kid makes pretzels.
Yep.
And while he's making the pretzels, breaks the tip off of the knife.
It doesn't mention it.
Mm-hmm.
And then it bakes the pretzels and eats the pretzels.
Right.
Is it cause for concern?
It feels like it's kind of one of those,
remember that old operation game
where you have to take the tweezers
and not hit the side?
It's like if the tip doesn't hit any of the,
it comes straight out the sphincter,
if it's got some insulation there inside the turd,
you might be okay.
Probably something.
Now, when did he realize
that the tip was off the knife?
I don't know.
Because if it was during the batter process,
you think maybe.
It was prior to baking.
I'm sure it'll work out fine
It was like when you had those
When your mom or the bake your birthday cake with coins in it
Yeah
But less sharp the coin
Yeah probably less potential for damage
Like one of those fancy really sharp
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Let me know how it works out
Yeah it'll be fine
Yeah
I didn't need any
Join us tomorrow

From the Warner household
And we've got a
super chat. Holy smokes.
They keep rolling.
Well, I mean, if
rolling, rolling, rolling
if Wolf is going to keep winning.
Can we talk
with the Wolf and
the
Handsome Dan has put his money
where his mother's and I'm putting money up every time
Wolf gets a win. I'm doing even more if he gets a shutout, baby.
I missed last night's game, but I just wanted
to highlight the beauty that is Ryan Lomburg.
He's the Lamborghini. He is
good vibes in human form. He sings.
He fights. He does tarps off interviews.
for the ladies. He is a guy that makes it
fun to come to the rink, I bet.
I agree.
Even in the...
That's why you make a $2 million?
It gets a lot of money to pay for
character guy and a fourth liner and a guy that does
scrap, but isn't a heavyweight that sort of thing?
But you, uh,
I remember when they saw him, you need,
you need these kind of guys.
You need guys that keep the room light
when it's heavy. The guys that can change
the flow of a hockey game with a hit
or a forecheck or a scrap
about getting their ass kicked. Yeah.
Hard not to like them.
Respect, kid.
Yeah. So I agree.
He's not really a kid anymore.
Not really. No.
Was a kid?
Was a flame left with the Florida?
Cup back.
Kids? He's got kids.
Got kids. Just had one.
Congrats.
It's the Super Chat. Proceeds from our

And that is where we send the money from our super chat. So thank you to Dan.
Damn. Dan. And to everybody who jumps in with a little bit of a donation for the super chat.
Six o'clock tonight, blues, flames. So good. So good.

themselves well they've won one one three in a row starting to play better on the road or at
least get results on the road stupid flodar stopped the paw do we have an i guess i've been looking
do you go with flodar tonight or probably hard not to yeah so we expect pinder will be back
tomorrow hopefully with taped ribs yes yeah yeah well they hopefully after spending a few hours
in the i r or the emergency room yeah are those the intercoastal muscles that are in between your ribs
something like that hopefully that there's like stabbing pains in there yeah for so doing anything
you do god remember when we you took your fall and i took a tumble that was not great
my kids were making fun of me the other day about it oh yeah they're hilarious oh i remember when dad
couldn't sleep in bed, he had to just sit in the coach,
and then whenever he'd sneeze, he'd, like, scream out in pain.
Yeah, hilarious.
Real funny.
But, you know what, at the same time, if it was Pinder sitting here,
he sneezed and he started to scream out of the way.
How you'd wish that on your buddy Pinn.
Yeah, you're probably right.
You're probably right about that.
What do you think, Jack?
How'd we do today?
Well done, boys.
Yeah, you think?
Well, done.
All right.
Well, I'm going to press this thing, and we're going to,
See ya, buddies.
