Hey, morning, everyone.
It is time for another burn burner.
Ryan Pinder, Rhett Warner, and our friend producer, Jack.
I knew this late start was going to get boom.
I tell you, he's not feeling great today.
Boomcat, we hope you're better soon, but it's these 8.30 starts in L.A.
Back to back.
He was out about the other day.
Like, who.
Gets out socializing once, stays up late once.
Other late puck drop?
Empty chair.
Empty chair.
Do you have the boomer camera?
is it not even set up to the end not even just tease and peace buddy tees and peace a late start
tough uh big takeaways yeah i don't think are good i don't stay up for late starts so you typically
check before the 10 minute package in the morning right uh couldn't find it no highlights the uh jack
can you put roll highlights from last night in l a here we go jack all right we shouldn't joke uh
it did get postponed there's some horrible s happen the highlights out of l a would not
been good. No, and you know what? It's a huge city. I know personally, I know I have
friends that live there. You would as well. A lot of your former teammates would have would
have settled in L.A. if they ended up playing for the Kings. It's scary stuff, man. Not good
at all. So of course, Flames and Kings gets moved. What would have been a late start in the
second half of a back to back on the mom's trip is suddenly, okay. We don't play till Saturday.
So Flames will be back home. We'll expect some news on Connor's area in the next 24 hours.
They'll have him back to get imaging done.
They're waiting for swelling to go down was the latest, which makes sense.
The good news, it's not a broken bone in there.
I think that's good news.
Sometimes the broken bone is.
Clean break.
Nice and easy.
Four to six, you're done.
What is it, Jackie?
You want the broken ankle, not the high ankle spring?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Thanks.
Welcome to Barnburner.
It is a presentation of Bet 365, the world's largest sports betting platform.
Brett's got a couple of bets we'll look at later.
You can open your account at Bet365 today and bet on a huge range of markets.
Use that code nation when you sign up, download the app, whatever the moment, never ordinary at Bet 365.
Now, was it, I saw ostrich racing the other day on my algorithm.
There's some wicked stuff.
There's dog racing.
I know obviously horse racing's huge.
I think you have an animal that races.
Do you know which animal it is?
Is it a horse that you bet on today?
Did I bet a horse today?
Or was it a dog?
No, I think it was a horse.
I looked at one, but it had already started,
so I must have found a later.
We'll get into that later.
Looking forward to it.
Also, if you're joining us in the chat,
there's a way to get your thoughts right to the top.
It is called a Super Chat.
Attached that comment with an amount of money up to you.
All our proceeds of the Super Chat money will go to the Youth Centers of Calgary.
Great place for kids, so they can go after school, get a warm meal.
If you read a book, hang with some friends, play sports.
whatever it is,
learning an instrument,
a safe place to be
until family gets home from work
and much better than being outside in the cold
this time of year.
Get in.
Have some fun with pals.
Love it.
I got a bet for Jack.
You got a bet?
I'm thinking about this.
Is pizza bet, Jack?
He owes me a bunch of pizza.
Four.
Basically, he's reneged on these,
the deal.
I don't expect to see them,
but I want to keep building on this.
I'll give you.
you what's the spread in that Steelers
10 10 right now yeah 14
double or nothing
double or nothing it's eight pizzas
or zero deal deal I got to take wow
14 and you know what's going to happen it's going to be
they're going to get killed there'll be up nine
and it'll be like and now the all the
ravens need to do is now kneel this down oh there
goes Lamar jacks and 70 yards to the house
and it's 15 point
lead for the Ravens before the convert.
No, yeah, deal, Red.
I have to take that.
I mean, we're not going to pay either way.
No, here's the thing. We're going to have to work out a payment plan.
Oh, there will be.
Even if it's just one pizza every two weeks, that probably gets us to the end of the year for the place.
Unreal.
Good luck, Jack.
Yeah, welcome to the program.
We have noodles on today.
He had travel issues yesterday, so we'll have to check in see how he's fairing.
Detroit to Ottawa.
Doesn't sound difficult.
He's a grant a car noodles.
Cheap prick. You were saying
8 and a half hours of winter driving through Michigan
and Ontario. That was the move.
Hold down, man.
Wintery.
Yeah, don't know.
He grew up where?
St. Albert? I think it'll be just...
Yeah, and he lived in Lethbridge for a while because he was telling
a story as we delivering pizzas in Lathridge.
Oh, somebody's phoning me. Do you realize they work?
Do you?
When? Where?
I kid.
high caliber, high paying job
that's right, very influential.
Illustrious. Yeah, all that.
I think it would be what, safe to assume
that the flames are not going to have Connor's area for a while.
The best case scenario would be a week-to-week outcome,
a worst case as he's done for the year.
And I don't think that's out of the range of reasonable outcomes.
And as ideas bounce around in my stupid brain,
maybe you want them out for the year.
Do you know what I mean?
Like, yeah, like if he,
He is gone two months.
What's he coming back to?
And how's he feeling?
Is he better off just preparing for camp?
Get better.
Yeah.
Now look, maybe they've been proven us wrong all year.
I think this is the bottom 10 roster in the NHL on paper.
Especially with him out.
They're what?
Two points out of a playoff spot, something like that.
Like I, maybe if he comes back and they're in the mix,
you'd be elated to get him back.
We just keep envisioning this scenario where they come back to,
the roster on paper rather than this
greater than the sum of our parts results we've seen all year.
The old standings is so odd to
when you look at their lineup and the roster
and their goals for and like,
wait a minute, how and what are you?
Yeah, so just to really put a bow on it,
they played Anaheim on Tuesday night.
We were at Richmond's.
You ate a copious amount of food.
Flames are 29th in the 32 team NHL in goals for.
24th in shots against.
Like they're,
they're not great at doing that.
They're 30th in the penalty kill.
And, you know,
they have a very middling
goals against five on five ratio.
Like they just,
the thing they're best at is
they're 11th in shots four.
Like,
they're not a great team.
We get it.
We don't have to explain that.
But God,
they've worked their tails off and they've got good goaltending.
And that changes everything as you saw in 04.
Yes.
And you can ride that.
But,
we've had hot conversations about it yesterday.
Should they even be trying to ride that bus as long as they can?
Because you lose there and you're like, how?
Who's like, Walker Dewar is not putting up points.
I don't give a, like,
yeah, the next man is not giving you Connor Zeri's workload nor his production.
Ability.
You're not bringing in a third line center who's going to be a half point in game.
Sorry.
And it's interesting conversation it brings up.
The very likely scenario, he's missing time.
Who do we see?
Because the flames were going to go last night with the end 12 forwards.
The extra guy was Walker Durer.
He would come back in, probably Sharon Govich down the middle.
But now it's like, okay, you're home, your HL team's here.
You don't play until Saturday.
Who do you want?
Well, you want Sam Hansick to be banging on the door saying,
I've been playing unbelievable at the center position.
Okay.
But he's not.
Yeah, it's very early.
Like he's, how many pro games?
No, but that's what you want.
Oh, yeah, best case scenario.
Best case scenarios, you drafted him and it started the year.
It's like, oh, he's making it and he's playing great.
And now nobody talks about him again.
Yeah, and it's his first pro season.
So you're fine, but there's a lot.
You ask for ideal scenario.
That would be.
And that's not happening.
So now we move to the, okay, William Stromgren's been a guy that we've talked about for, you know,
the very end of last year into this season, not a center.
and you're like, okay, well, who's, who's doing what for this, this American League team?
And you start to look and you're like, Rory bleeping Karens is having an incredible season.
And it's funny because he piled up points in the OHL.
You see his last year there in the O, he's 118 points.
Like, flirting with two points a game.
That's pretty good.
Doubled his point totals year over year and with the Greyhounds.
And he's been in the system a while.
Like he's a draft pick from 2020.
I, you know, he's, he's 22.
He's not ancient, but he's not a fresh-faced first rounder from a couple of years ago, right?
He's a late pick.
The feet have never been a strength, but the points have always been there,
which leads you to believe this is a high IQ hockey player.
He plays center ice and you look at the numbers he's putting up this year and last year
in the American League, his first full year in the American League, like, that's a really nice
debut HL season where you flirt with, you know, three quarters of points per game.
after going from playing in the coast.
And this year he's a
part of game player in the A. That's a really, really
impressive thing
to do as a forward in
just their second year in the American League.
Yeah. I think at this point,
yeah, bring him up, give him a shot. Let's see what you got.
I don't know. I don't trust that he's going to be able to do it at this level,
but I'm not going to be upset that
I'm happy to cheer for him if he can.
You know what Dryden Hunt is?
You've seen Adam Klopka, and that doesn't mean those guys can't come in and do stuff,
but at this point, he's a center.
And just on merit alone,
nobody's had a better season compared to expectations
on the American League roster than probably Roy Cairns.
I mean, Cooley's been great.
He's not playing center.
He's coley.
Yeah, hard to be.
And so, you know, okay, Cairns,
the feet aren't great,
but at every level he's scored,
can you come in and give us some center ice minutes?
I think that's probably one of the things they're contemplating doing.
He's 5-11-190.
I don't know.
like he's just he's put points up he was named an all star yesterday to the american league all
star game with coolly the only two all stars on the team like this is the guy he's going to get
the look i think and i again i'm hopeful that he does that's great but there's been a lot of guys
that have played the hl and had amazing point production seasons it doesn't translate so
give him a shot let's find out but and this isn't a breath that that's going to take you to the
next level no and it isn't to hey here look at the next great
No, it's just the guy that earns the look.
And what he does with the look, who knows?
I mean, when Conner's area earned his look last fall, we were like, yeah, you know,
he hasn't been that special in the A.
And immediately he and Pospisal and Codry came to life and it changed the trajectory
of the entire season.
That would be the best range of outcomes.
You come in and you're a catalyst, but more often than not, guys get called up and
they're back in the A weeks later after not.
If you're talking about bad hoof and he can't move as well, that's one of Zerrizzar.
strengths is that he's...
You can skate.
Hospicell especially.
He can get around, so.
Yeah.
And so we'll see.
Also on the program today,
the Calgary Flames will have to reschedule.
Sounds like that's going to be an issue.
Staples Center, apparently...
Busy spot?
Busy.
Obviously, you know, our thoughts are with people in L.A.
They're going through a disaster right now,
but they are going to have to,
on the business end, get this game played.
And Ryan Pike's got a great article.
We'll look at where that problem
ends up.
It's,
uh,
end of the year is probably the only spot they can squeeze it in.
We told you we'll have noodles.
It was supposed to be two games and two nights and back to back games against the
Kings.
It won't be that.
And the Kings will be here Saturday.
That's going to be tough for the Kings because the Kings are part of that community
that's going through,
obviously very tough time.
So don't think that there's not going to be some shit hanging over their heads coming up here.
Yeah.
If you're having to deal with and who knows where we're at by the time
Saturday rolls around. But if you're getting calls from the home front from family,
like your wife and it's people literally have bags packed at the door in a lot of, you know,
places in L.A. that haven't been affected yet. Yeah. I don't know where everyone lives and whether
the communities and whether they're close, but regardless, it's, it's not ideal. No, no good at all.
One thing we did get to do last night. We joked about it off top, but you probably actually got to
sleep a little more than, you know. Oh, well, I also got to go crush the other.
they're both Valley teams.
Oh, we had a little BV on BV crying.
Yeah, you know.
Wow.
They're running their mouths.
They beat us last game, big timers.
You know that big Parsons?
Parsons.
Yeah.
Okay.
Tough guy.
Yeah, got to show him who's boss.
Really?
So we.
Game late.
Put my top line out.
Again?
Yeah, five seconds.
You're running lines.
Five seconds.
Bang.
Boy, kid.
Boy, Ethan.
Wow.
All right.
Heath.
Wow.
He made the play.
Hudson.
Sniped it.
I believe you sure.
Well, you have to.
And so this is the final tune up for minor hockey week.
All the hockey dads out there.
We are ready for us.
Oh, baby.
Yeah, we're at Ernie Star Saturday morning.
Buckle up.
Can't wait.
You 11.
Let's go.
Park my truck right outside and not leave.
Which rinker we have?
Camp out.
Tailgate.
Bring the, what are those little.
Havachis.
Yeah.
Bring a hobatch.
That's right.
Yes.
Yeah.
One of the dads had that in Elkford.
He was all key.
And we're like, it's minus 10.
No one's hanging out.
here.
Screw that.
Fight all the losers that are wound up.
Excuse me.
Yeah,
I've got some sleep last night.
That was needed.
It's been real busy.
You said you were pissed off.
You didn't get a nap.
It's your parents' fault or something.
Yeah,
to take them to the airport.
Sharks.
Being nice.
You can't just keep doing nice things for people,
right?
You got to look out for number one.
So I'm doing that today.
No is an answer.
That's right.
I'm not good at no.
Not good at no.
Especially if there's beer involved.
But one of the things that we do notice at my house,
less snoring.
because I'm one of the people that has actually gone and visited your pal, Dr. J Patel at Outdoor.
Dental.
They have this Salelea laser, which is used in all kinds of dentistry.
But one of the things that somebody way smarter than us figured out is that it actually
can be a really nice solution for snoring.
Back and forth.
Pain free.
15 minutes.
Come back in a month.
Do it again.
15 minutes.
Over the soft palate.
Tightens up.
Doesn't flap as much.
That's snoring.
So less and more.
Right?
Stop pissing everyone off.
Yes.
Everyone knows the happy wife, happy life expression.
I heard a different one.
It was happy spouse, happy house.
So there you are.
Maybe your wife snores.
You can get her this.
I'm sure Valentine's Day's coming up.
Nothing says love.
Like let's all sleep more.
Yes.
Let's deal with your snoring.
That's right.
Outdoor.
Outdoor.
Addenal, again, two 50 minute treatments to increase the tension in the soft palate,
non-surgical, pain free.
And also,
dentistry can be a bit of a phobia for,
Some people.
Yeah, the person that I live with, he hates it.
One of your children or the shoveler?
No, the shovel.
She's a frady cat when it comes to the dentist.
Yeah.
Really?
Yep.
That's not easy.
So here's the thing.
Outdoor dental, cutting edge technology.
Make sure happy, healthy, confident.
Well, see, here's the thing.
Outdoor dental, all high-end new technology.
You're not going in there with the jackhammers like they used to,
and that's why people had the phobias.
Yeah, she probably has some trauma from something in the 90s.
Yes, she said, but,
Yeah. The only place they'd go to was some old crusty prick that would just be
grinding away in there.
I don't like that.
Doesn't like it.
So yeah, check it out.
The website Outdoor.com.
Jack, we need an update.
How are we feeling?
It's funny.
The three of us, we all have NFL teams.
We made, boom, get one a couple years ago.
begrudgingly he picked a team, the bears.
I don't know how he came up with this.
He didn't want to pick a front runner and he wanted to be a direct flight away.
I felt like the Eagles.
I thought he was going to be an Arizona Cardinals card.
He loves going to Sconsdale.
Yep.
But somehow,
some way he ends up with the Bears.
He's not here today.
Our three teams are in.
So I want to go around the horn.
Jack,
how are we feeling about the Pittsburgh Steelers who will play in Baltimore,
a team they split the season series with this year?
Well,
I feel good about the 14 points Reds giving me.
I don't know if I feel any better than that.
I saw Zave Flowers unlikely to play.
So that's helpful.
That's helpful a little bit.
Throw the odds up here.
Well, we got you.
Yeah, let's do it.
We could steal that from the Pinder report because we've got two Saturday games,
three on Sunday,
and then there's a Monday nighter,
which I think is one of the more appetizing games of the entire weekend.
So Jack's Steelers are the Saturday evening game, 6 p.m. Mountain at Baltimore.
And if you look at the money line on the far right,
yeah, they're pretty big underdogs.
Plus 390, Jack.
Yeah, plus 390.
Started at 8.5 as well.
It's moved to 10.
14.
move to 14 in some spot
14 I don't know
I don't know how you can fall ass
backwards into the playoffs and then
rally for one game
like it's just
yeah
Mike Tomlin
Mike Tomlin hasn't won in the playoffs in ages
2016 I thought the thing was he always won
in no he makes the playoffs and then he loses
that's yeah this is true
so there's multiple things he always has good results in
Baltimore yeah and game plans well
against Harbaugh yeah
But then there's the playoff, Mike Tomlin, which is like, we get, we're nine and seven,
we're nine and eight, whatever the number of games we play is, we squeak in.
They're 10 and seven this year.
Yeah.
But it's just a lot of one and duns.
Yeah.
And I get it.
It was like the corpse of Ben Rathesberger for a long time.
And then it was, Kenny Pickett might be a thing.
No, he's definitely not a thing.
Yeah.
You're kind of like the coach.
You're kind of like the flames.
Yeah.
Like, who's your guy?
Like, are you really going to bring back Fields and Russ next year?
I hope so.
Or is it time to actually go find your next quarterback?
I hate him too.
Which uncle?
That's the problem though, Ryan.
You can't find a quarterback when you finish 10 and 7 every year.
Yeah.
So you have to hit or be super patient when you look at like, you know, where did love get drafted?
He slid.
And everybody didn't need a quarterback.
So they let him cook and marinate and stew behind Aaron Rogers for like three years or whatever.
So yeah, like Kenny Pickett, I thought was going to be the solution in the sense that he either
be so bad that they'd pick high or it's like hey you found your quarterback but because i think tom was a good
coach so just mid again and like i shit we can't they benched him and then they made the playoffs so yeah
they're in tough retina how you feel about your bills very confident ryan i don't think it's
going to be an issue i'm surprised this isn't the biggest line of the week because like denver's
they're fun you know it's it's a young offense it's somebody said they had a good d rookie quarterback that
uh you know can can
scramble around a bit. He's a really good second half of the year. But the bills, when they're
right, just have this capacity to destroy teams. Yes, I totally agree with you. I think it's
going to be a snot bubble or the bills will absolutely pull a bills and F something up royally.
There's lots of runway for them still to be the bills. I just don't think it happens this. I don't
think it's this weekend. Yeah. Where are you at on Bill's Broncos, Jackie?
well the bills should destroy them
wrong is a good story but
I mean
is this Super Bowl or bust kind of year at
feels like it
I don't know I mean I don't know why they wouldn't be good next year
but weird though because I don't think this year was
supposed to be as good a year as
yeah it was more of you know they lose a bunch of receivers
bunch of players on the defensive side of the ball
and they're better almost
they're running the ball a lot more too
we talked about after years you're going to play home games
at Buffalo in January
and you want to be an aerial attack
Go check the weather.
Yeah, go check the weather.
As for my chargers, I don't know.
C.J. Stroud was a lot scarier eight weeks ago.
He had an amazing wild card game last year, what he threw for three touchdowns.
They blew the doors off someone in the wildcard weekend.
Yeah.
It just doesn't look and feel like that guy.
And they've had some significant injuries since Diggs went down.
They haven't quite been the same.
Yeah, they lost Diggs.
Nico Collins was out for a while.
And then Tank Dell heard it.
at the end of the year.
Yeah, last year they went, I don't know if,
I think Cleveland came into Houston and they dominated them.
Because they got on that heater with what,
Flacco last year in Cleveland?
Yeah, make the playoffs.
You're like, oh, they play D.
Flacco can air it out.
They just stomp them.
Yeah, the Chargers have the best defense in the NFL in terms of points against,
touchdowns against, red zone.
You know, times a TELO teams into the red zone.
That helps.
And I like Herbert.
So, yeah, the coaching matters, I guess.
pretty, like a lesser roster on paper for the charges this year, but a better coach.
Who would have thought losing Keenan Allen and Austin Eckler, you'd be better.
But they were awful last year.
And they're, their favorite to win wildcard week this weekend.
Money's going to be fun too.
It's nice to have a bunch of night.
Yes, yes.
They'll be wound tight.
Talking to Bender about it, a one and four start for the Rams.
They win that division.
Very interesting.
What else have we got here?
I'm expecting Roy Cairns.
Is there William Stromgren, they're going to give him a look at some point, but he's a winger.
I think you're going to have it.
Sadly, I think that Zary's looking at long enough time off, you're going to get to see all of them.
Yeah, and the question will be where do you put Igor Sharon Govich?
I love that he had 11 shot attempts, but if he's better on the wing, then maybe you're more Cairns.
And if he looks like he's the answer at center, then you could try any winger down there.
you could even bring up Hansick it's such an odd weird because there's fighting for a
playoff spot should they we've debated I don't know you lose your most your center with
the most upside at this point right like cadre your best young skater yes like he's not wolf
but he's your best young he's your best offensive talent and now you're left with bringing a guy up
for the miners and you don't even do you move sharingovitch what are you trying to accomplish
are you trying to find out if the kids can play
or are you trying to get Sharon Govich going?
Are you trying to maintain the position you're in
and fight for this playoff spot?
There's a lot of moving parts.
And they've got some good teams coming.
It's L.A. on Saturday that obviously is a ways away still.
But then it's three and four nights at Chicago.
A little better.
They'd be Colorado last night.
They got thumped in that outdoor game.
Because I think teams ignore them.
them ease up a little, right?
It's like, okay, it's Chicago.
We can exhale a bit.
No, it's still the NHL.
And then I think a very hungry blues club,
they look great in that same outdoor game,
where they walloped the Blackhawks in Chicago.
And they've been adding, like they brought in Camp Fowler.
We played a thousandth game outdoors.
You know, they're Holloway's having a monster year brought in on the offer sheet.
And it's two opportunities to move up in the standings of the Blues.
That's how they're looking at it.
Yeah.
They can't, they're most games played, trying to get in.
Yeah, this kind of, it's a big matchup for the blues as much for the playing.
And then like, Jets are good.
No question about it.
They'll play them twice in a stretch of eight days, the 18th and the 26th.
It's next Saturday and then the following Sunday.
So you're going to see a lot of the jets in Winnipeg the next little bit.
Sabres in Calgary.
It's a bit of an island, a one game homestand, Minnesota they've gotten there, Washington in there.
Tough stretch.
And so, you know, there's a couple scenarios here that could happen.
If they continue to be what they are, they find a way to hang around 500.
Maybe, you know, it's a three, five, and one stretch of nine games or something like that.
Or three, four, and two.
Or maybe you find a way to be 500.
But there is a chance when you have this higher caliber of opponent that you just get on a bit of a skid.
And in a weird way, give you clarity.
Wouldn't Craig Conroy have?
have a really good direction and I guess M.O. moving forward if you just knew the playoff
probability was like less than 5%, so to speak, like, okay, we're now far enough out. Let's
literally look at all the options. S. Yes. Rather than, because he's, he's going to let this
group determine it. He's not going to go out and make a move before they've moved himself into that
territory. As long as they're within a part of the playoffs, Connie's not going to be selling S.
No, and you can't.
And the team has earned that right.
That right to battle for it.
And if they can get there, you give them all the help you can.
But it's funny, we're always looking for clarity with this team.
Even last year.
Yes.
And they ended up finishing, what, ninth from the bottom last year?
But again, it wasn't until, you know, they were one point out of the playoffs spot in what, February or January last year.
Yeah.
And it was like, no, no, no, no.
They got this tough stretch of games that leads up to Christmas.
By time Christmas is around, well, no, they're one.
They're still mucky middleland.
And, you know, it's, the injury to Zeri was interesting because they've missed
Manta.
I don't know that he was around enough for him to feel like a, oh, we're missing him.
He was not a young kid.
He was a guy that you were hoping to resurrect and you'd seen good and bad of why he's
moved around so much.
You saw the full spectrum.
You had dominant games.
He had other games.
You didn't notice them.
And so he didn't feel like a core piece at all.
And Justin Kirkland would have been
10 to 1 to even get one game this year with the club.
It took the Cole Schwint claim on waivers
and some other stuff for him to get in.
He made the most of it.
What a great story.
We'd love to see him back.
That's the only other real injury they've had to deal with.
And I wrote down a list the other night of,
okay, the Zeri injury is a core piece.
That's your best young skater.
He's an important offensive catalyst.
Who would be the guys,
more important or more impactful to lose to injury.
Because I think it's a pretty short list.
Like I would start a net for sure.
Yeah, always your goal is.
Especially the way Wolf's going.
Like Vlodar has been fine,
but his win-lost record ain't what Dustin Wolffs is.
You're not winning games.
Total Vlodar.
Even if it's just one goal a game,
that's a big difference for a group that can't score four, right?
Weger and Anderson.
They're the only two guys that you can slide into a top four
in any team in the league.
Everyone else is you're squinting.
you're trying to who plays better with who,
who can patch over this.
Like they're your best two defensemen by a mile.
And when they're right,
they're both top pair in the NHL guys.
That caliber of player.
So those are huge.
If you tried to,
if you had to come up with a way to absorb the loss of Rasmus Anderson's
minutes or McKenzie Weeger's minutes,
that would be a huge challenge.
And then the other place I would go is just down the middle.
If you lose Backland or Codry,
those are big minutes center icemen and they don't have centers.
Well, and that's what you're either a checking line or your scoring line if you if one of those guys gets hurt.
Yeah.
But those are the only five guys I think are in the same neighborhood as Zeri for how impactful that loss could be if he's gone.
I'm trying to think of other guys.
It's like, you know, like Hubert was playing really nice.
But if he's not there, okay, you slide another winger in there.
Like he's it would hurt.
Coronado, same thing.
Yeah.
It's like, okay, put Peltier in that slot, he does next to Backlund and Coleman.
It's probably a fine line.
You know, Sharon Govich can go play in.
He hasn't done anything to contribute to the wins and losses, Sharon Govich.
I like him as a player.
I think he'll come out of it.
And I think there's more to his game.
But he's not done enough to have impact on games.
No, because Manko's done nothing.
Like the, you love Longberg, but it's, you know, 8 to 12 minutes a night.
It's the, that injury is one of the six that I could think of that just leaves this club in a really awkward spot.
where I think already the margins are so thin
with goals four against.
When you can't score four, it's just a lot of...
And he's an offensive driver for you.
Yeah.
White knuckle games.
That's...
Maybe it's...
Can't wait to watch the trap the rest of the season.
Yeah, really is.
So good.
So I was saying it on Twitter the other day.
They're like, the best way to remain competitive
when you're retooling, rebuilding,
a goaltending in defense.
It's not the best brand to sell.
It's awful hockey to watch, but you can stay in games.
And not on like 04, you know, different era, but those weren't the most compelling hockey games.
You battled.
But you guys, your only way you were going to win, it wasn't 5'4.
It was 2-1 with Kipperin net.
And if one got out of hand, okay, we'll beat the tar hide out of you.
But there's one way for this team to hang around a playoff spot.
It's defense, structure, work ethic and golden.
Even when everyone's in the lineup, they can't score for.
four goals. So it's, it's not far off of how they play anyways. And now even,
and now you'd be even more inclined to sit back and try and hang play tight tea. Oh,
you're depressing. But they've proven us wrong this far, right? Like all year,
they've been way better than we thought. If you, I don't like the opportunity. I'd be more
excited because I think I'm going to get clarity on or Conroy is going to get clarity on what
he can and should be doing.
Yes. I hope that's the case.
Because right now I still think he's in a spot
he's like, holy Christ, how are these guys?
Yeah, and you're excited
about the good stories, but it's like
deep down when he's going to bed, he's going
I really thought I was going to be able
to take a different tag
on this. Yeah, like let's say hypothetically
Craig Connor, I think he can
get a monster hall for Rasmus
Anderson, like two first roster
player prospect, like bigger
package than he got for two months of renting
Elias and Lindholm, which I think he should get it.
It's two years of Rasmus-Sannerson.
And maybe they want to keep him and he stays here
forever, but just hypothetically,
if he wants to go to the owner
and trade him, the owner's going to be like, we're two points
out. What are you talking about?
You know, close to you had a playoff revenue?
Yeah. He's not even taking
it to him. Conroy knows. Right.
But just in this, you know, to
I guess illustrate the conundrum.
It's, they really need to fall out of it before
there's any. Lose five in a row. You'll get some real
clarity. Yes. Totally
that. Especially if two of them
are to the blues who will pass you. Yes.
You're like, oh, there's three teams to pass.
We really have to climb. Eight points
out and Dan, Dan.
So we'll see. It's
a busy month. Back to backs all over.
They lost one last night in the sense that
that that isn't a back to back, but they'll probably have to
make it a back to back in the spring.
We're waiting on noodles. No noodles yet?
What are we at for time? No noodles yet.
Okay, because I don't want to start a PIN report.
Lazy.
one of the things, you know what we'll do.
I'll talk about our pals at Origin Brewing.
Yes.
Because, well, I mean, right over your shoulder there in the shot.
Good try.
There we are.
That's a barmere blonde.
That's one of our two beers that are great pals at Origin Brewing are brewing for us.
Of course, the new edition this year to the roster.
Well, I like the afterburner pale ale.
Now, you like a hoppy herb here?
How do you like?
the afterburner. I really like it actually.
I think it's pretty nails, right? It's very, very good.
Very, very good. That's just two of the many amazing beers that we've,
our pals at origin have got going. We're talking about the logger, the homegrown
lager, the Mexican lager, Pioneer IPA, that's a hoppy one for Rhett. Lazy Days,
Hayes, Hypea, hazy IPA.
The Rocky Fruit Raspberry is one of my absolute favorites, especially in summer.
prickly pair guava gosa and the backdraft red ale last post brown ale their taproom 60 spruce park drive in strathmore also they've got the new calgary origin calgary
where is it well it's 943 28th street northeast and of course uh still going strong in strathmore but very exciting
that they're in town if you don't have any of your favorite liquor star asked for it say can you get some more origin beers in here
i want to find that barbed duster i'm not coming in
here.
You want my business?
Take care of me.
I've been buying beer here for you for 20 years.
What time you get one for me, huh?
Looks like our guest has arrived.
So let's jump right to our guest hotline, the insider hotline for Crystal Waters.
You said you got a visit coming up is what's the story with Crystal Waters?
They're expecting.
Oh, I got lots of things going on.
Residential plumbing, heating, cooling services.
Over 23 years of experience, 30,000 jobs and projects completed.
Yeah, basically, they want to be the guardians of your home's mechanical heart,
whether you're a contractor, a home builder, or just a homeowner seeking installations,
replacements, repairs, or maintenance.
It's clearly one place to go.
It's crystal waters, your crystal clear choice here in Calgary.
Also, a solution for all budgets, including financing and affordable payment plans.
Crystal Waters, plumbing, and heating is your crystal clear choice for home comfort.
from TSN, a former teammate of Rhett Warner,
and you'd be interested to hear it.
As we prep for the show today,
who's sitting back on the couch watching YouTube?
It's Red consuming a little overdrive.
Some insightful comment noodles on these other shows.
Wow, that's impressive.
It's nice to hear, you know?
Once in a while, like I listen to everybody else's show.
Maybe you should listen to mine once in a while, right?
I'm listening then.
I'm learning a lot.
Now it gets to the point where I don't have to talk.
You just let you run.
Oh, let me run. Believe me, I have to fight for...
I have to fight for, you know, time on my show because O'Dong and Hayes, you just wind them up.
So it's all good. I mean, listen, when I'm in Toronto, everything's great.
They've won five in a row.
They're, you know, top of the Atlantic.
It's just, you know, parade route.
We're good.
It talked about TANF.
It's been that impactful from your point of view for the Leafs?
I think so.
I think what happened.
And it's almost like the Atcombe situation in Abington.
You know, his, plugging somebody like that into your lineup,
all of a sudden it stabilizes, stabilized other places.
Not only makes your partner better, it takes some of the pressure off of other, you know,
tandems.
And that's what Atcombe did.
It took pressure off of nurse.
It helped Bouchard settle down.
You know, that's your lead dog when you want to kill a penalty.
I think that's the same situation, the same effect,
that TANF has.
I don't want to jinx it,
so I'm knocking on,
there's some wood wooden frame right here.
But, you know,
my biggest,
always my biggest knock on TANV
has been health because he's a warrior.
The guy blocks shots.
He blocks everything.
You know,
eventually he's going to miss games
just based on,
you know,
how big of a warrior he is.
But, you know,
right now he's been healthy
and that's the impressive part.
It was always scary here because you say him.
You sign him.
You're like, you love them.
Great player.
What a battler.
and once a month maybe more,
he'd get crushed or do something
and he's walking down the tunnel
and you're going, oh, go.
Yeah, he's done.
And it has that effect on you
because then you know he's not playing at 100%.
And the guy would, you know, he would lose a leg
and still be playing type of thing,
but you just know that effect.
So I, that's my only concern
because his partner, McCabe,
you know, I didn't like how that transaction went
down because, listen,
Garnet Hathaway is a bastard to play
against, and I say that in a positive light.
Like that guy you want on your team,
he's hard to play against.
He gives a little knock to the goaltender.
McCabe, I thought McCabe took some liberties
on the play. If you watch the
whole play, McCabe, you know,
knocks him down, he gives him the
forearm shiver in the head, gives him a push
in the head as he gets up, and then
pushes him as he trying to get up.
So he's trying to engage him into a fight. So
Hathaway drops the gloves, and he
He gets, you know, he hits him on the button, knocks him down, hits his head.
And McCabe is already coming off a concussion where he got hit in the back of the neck with a shot or the back of the head, the back of the skull.
So that's concerning.
That's always concerning for me when, you know, you've got guys like that who are impactful.
That's your, we'll call it your top shutdown pairing.
And then, you know, you've got Riley and who am I drawing a blank of?
Riley Tanna, McCabe.
Oh, Ekman Larson.
So that top four.
That top four has been really good for Toronto.
So, you know, the biggest thing is health for those guys.
And, you know, right now with McCabe out, they are going to miss him,
but they would certainly miss Taneb more if you ask me.
Mad, do you remember the shows we were doing a year ago, noodles?
Because it was like, oh, Hanofin, is he staying or going?
Lindholm, is he staying or going?
Zadorov would have just been moved a month or so ago.
You know, and then Tanev is this.
expiring asset,
blocking shots of his face.
He might have got down the total eight times.
And it got to the point where we're like, okay,
the deadline's in two weeks.
Tried him now, take a little less,
just so you know he's not hurt.
Like it was the most horrifying situation
for Connie to be in because of the way he plays.
Well, think about it.
Like we, you know,
we can always go back now.
You're right.
A year from now,
we were having these conversations.
And Zedoroff wanted a big number.
And, you know,
would some of these managers have buyers remorse?
I guarantee you, Brad Tree Living has no buyer's remorse on Chris Tanev.
But Don Sweeney have buyer's remorse on Lynnholm and Zedoroff.
I mean, it takes a while for guys to settle in.
But I've watched them several times.
I think the Doroff, they expect more from, and I don't know these,
we've talked about it a million times.
I think in his mind, he thinks he's a one.
I think other people think he's a six.
He's somewhere in between there, which depending on any given night, right?
on any given shift.
Yes, exactly.
And then you've got Lynn Holm who, you know, he's,
I think he's a special player,
but he needs people to play with.
And if you,
if you have no chemistry with David Pasternak,
then you're,
now you're trying to find guys that have chemistry with.
It gets a little bit leaner.
Jake DeBrusk,
I thought that was a big loss for Boston.
Because DeBrusk really fit in as a Bruin.
And now he's, you know,
he's settled in as a Canuck.
But, you know,
you take his, we'll call it 25,
28 goals out round,
up to 30 because he's still only what 25 26 you're missing that and you know I just I don't know
that Boston team is a really interesting case study for me because I just don't know where they're
going to end up it's funny because they've been the recession proof team in a sense like they just
you know okay well when charra's gone no yeah they're fine okay but when burseran nope
create yeah nope nope they have this incredible best regular season we've ever seen
seen and then losing the first round and then okay well now they're gonna nope finally catching up
with them and it's funny because they've they've actually not been great at asset management like
they gave away sagan for pennies on the dollar thornton for pennies on the dollar they did that
crazy three draft picks in a row in the first round of almost nothing to show for it when the next
he was up the board were like Connor barzel and you know shabod it's just wild um and and i don't know
like they clearly don't have any interest in tearing it down
when you look at the commitments they made to guys that were already older.
But for us, it's like, okay, Lindholm, it was a proven year,
didn't look motivated in Calgary, okay, maybe it's the contract you want so.
Vancouver, very may results until what, round one of the playoffs, he was okay.
Now, like we're talking at over a full year, like close to season and a half, two seasons
where he just looks like a middle six center.
Special is too strong for me.
You said special?
He's a tool man.
He's a blue-collar player all of a sudden.
He's not a white-collar guy where you can put a...
And he was that sort of going to jump you up before you go.
Yeah.
He was that before he started playing with Godreau and...
Yes.
Right, right.
Well, so, yes, you're going to...
The language police, you're right.
Special.
I got a little bit aggressive there.
But he is, you know, to me, he's a very good player,
but he needs the right setting.
And, you know, it worked, you know, with Johnny.
Obviously, Johnny was a special player.
I'm not going to argue.
You're not going to argue with that on me.
on that one. But I just look at it and was he a diminishing asset? Like it's not like he's
22 anymore. I think is he 30 now or 29? I think it's close. I don't have internet in front of me.
That's why I'm that's why I was late coming on the show battling the internet in my hotel room.
It's a seven year commitment to a guy that's going to be well into his 30s really early in the deal.
Like he'll be 35, 36, 37 when that deal's over. That's that's what you need to know about his age.
Yeah. So I just at the end of it. At the end,
of the day, you know, I look at Boston, I look at some of these assets they moved away from.
And again, the flames are right there, you know, so it's a really good thing, the turnover,
and you're having young guys push through and compete. And, you know, are you bundled up?
This Vancouver team, I don't know what to make of it. I watched the game last night.
They didn't give up much. You know, Pierre-Luc de Blois had a little bit of resurgence there
because he's a, there's a case study.
Didn't work in Columbus, didn't work in Winnipeg, didn't work in L.A.
All of a sudden, it's working in Washington.
But hang on, hang on.
It did work in those places.
He just wasn't happy.
You're right.
You're right.
It's wild case study.
We talked about it yesterday and no one's saying you can look back and have seen this coming.
But Washington was the one team that had the balls to do it.
Boy, do they look smart.
Well, it does because you got him for pennies on the dollar, right?
You didn't get him at eight, whatever, 8.7 or whatever he was making with, with L.A.
but there were times where he looked like world beaters
and there were times where I think there was a shift
that I like to give other analysts credit.
I think Keith Jones, when he was an analyst,
he pointed out a shift.
It might have been Jonesy that pointed out this shift
to Pierre-Luc de Blas.
It was half-ass up the ice, half-ass,
and you're going, that's what this guy is.
That's what you're paying all this guy.
Money for, but at the end of the day,
never worked in L.A. at all.
He just wasn't a dangerous player in L.
L.A. Maybe because he was, I don't want to say
miscast, but he was farther down.
You had Copatar, you had Deno,
then you had PLD.
Like, you know, you had depth there, right?
But he looks good in L.A.
And to the point, he scored both goals last night.
And both of them were pretty darn good goals.
One's in front of the net, wins a battle, gets inside on Hughes.
The other ones, you know, the breakway in overtime,
not breakway, a partial, partial in close in overtime.
Yeah.
But you'll take it.
So it is interesting.
to see, you know, where we were a year ago with some of these teams and how the turnover has
either been positive or negative or the jury's still out.
I want to bring it to some flames news. I'm sure you saw the court Conner Zeri hit.
I don't know that there's any of will. I don't even know if it was that dirty. It's just the guy
was lying down. So we got the penalty. More importantly for the flames, they're likely to be
missing Zeri for a long time. They'll get imaging done today and maybe an announcement of some
sort of a timeline, whether that's weeks, months, or end of the season. No one's expected.
them ready Saturday when they play next against
LA here in Calgary. Just a
thought on what you've seen
a guy show in this league in the
14 months since you got called up for the first time and
what kind of a loss it is to this group.
Well, it's a big loss and you're right. You're waiting.
You're hoping that sometimes you hope for good news
and I don't even know what good news would be in this scenario.
I mean, you know, what would be a positive news break?
You know, a month exactly.
For sure.
Yeah.
So let's say, you know, two to four, four to six, something like that would be, hey, that's good news.
You're going to see him again and he can still contribute.
In looking at his body of work, I think he's got all the tools.
I really like him.
I think he's a good skater.
He's got a good shot.
He's got really good instincts offensively.
He's not shy of the physical stuff.
I don't see him shying away from it.
So, you know, the growth of this player, what sucks about the injury is, you know, when you're watching,
a guy kind of go on a trajectory, right? And you're excited about, okay, where's, where's that trajectory
going to get you? When he's at his best and going to stay there for many years, like, what is the,
what is the trajectory at a level for him? He's got a high ceiling for me. And in the time that
I've watched him, I think he's become more and more dangerous as he's gotten more confident on the ice.
We're knowing his spacing, knowing where to go, knowing when to use a shot, or maybe hold on to it.
And that, I think I'm going to give credit to the players around them.
You know, when you practice with cadry, you practice with Hubert,
or with guys who have been around the league, even Blake Coleman,
guys who, you know, have won and been in all different situations,
you start to watch and pick up a little bit of their game, a little bit of, hey, you know what,
I can hold on to the puck here.
I can make the player.
You're watching a guy going, you know what, I would have done that a little bit different.
I would have rushed that play because I didn't have much space.
So I look at it. I think Zari's ceiling is very high. He hasn't reached it yet, but he's on that trajectory to be, you know, for me, a top, top tier player, which is impressive. And I like that because that's the type that you want to push through to make every, to make the Lynn Holmes and everybody else expendable. The Zaris are the guys that are the ones that are pushing guys out.
I've been really impressed them at Center Ice. I didn't know what it was going to look like. Like he came up and played wing last year with Cadry and Pospasol and it had Piss and Vinegar and some creativity. And he shares the puck.
fucking has vision so Codry can get his looks.
And then you come into this year after you trade Lidholm.
You're like, geez, like Kevin Rooney's their third best center?
Like what are we doing here?
Yeah.
It's bad.
And I remember back right after the deal with Vancouver where Lindholm went,
we were in Toronto for All Star.
And it fell like two days before All Star break that trade,
Vancouver, Calgary for Lindholm.
And we had Connie on the show and he said,
Pospisal and Zeri both think they're centers.
And it was like, oh.
Okay.
Sure enough, this year they give Zeri a try.
And I don't know like the nuance of center versus wing as well as you guys would,
but when you can attack a team down the middle with the puck and go nose to nose at a guy and make plays,
I know you're a center.
Yeah.
He's defensively responsible.
He skates well,
but to skate out of defensemen and make a play rather than just drive wide or curl and like he's impressed me a ton down the middle.
And that changes everything for this club.
because they don't have a center in the pipeline.
And it's two guys in their mid-30s,
Codry's 34, back on's 35.
All of a sudden, if Zeri's a center, he's 23 or whatever,
it's like, give him eight years and all the money.
Like, this is now a core piece.
Yeah.
Well, why I like him in the middle, too, is what you mentioned.
He's smart and defensively responsible.
And that's what you need from centerment.
Because the center ice position is very tough defensively,
because you've got to work with the deed, right?
You can speak to it.
You always have your, your sentiment has to be your support.
down low. They have to win loose buck battles. They have to, you know, they have to be a responsible
one where I always say the laziest player on the ice is the winger and the offside winger,
because they're just standing where they're with the D. And if the D benches down, yeah, you've got
to move or whatever. But young players, they always push to the wing because there's not a lot of
responsibility in the defensive zone. But Dari has proven that he has the smarts and the drive to
play strong defensively. Now, let's go.
the other way. Offensively,
the center ice position gives you lots
of space to be creative. So if you're a
good skater, which he is, he's got great
speed. Now, if you're a
skater and you've got good hands
and you've got confidence, center ice
position's where you want to be, because
now you can distribute the puck, you can
have quick give and goes.
And to me, it just
opens up your creativity. On the wing,
we always see, you know, high-scoring wingers.
Iggy was a winger.
You know, you look at Panera, and then guys
like that Patrick Kane throughout their career,
their wingers, where they weren't, they drove
lines in different ways. The centerman
drives the line for the most part because
they develop speed through the neutral zone and they're the
ones that support the play. So I
like Zari at Center. We'll see if
the progression continues to roll or when
he gets back, but
there hasn't been for me a night
where he's looked out of place at that position.
Give me a tough loss for the club.
Yeah. Last night was supposed to be game
41. It got postponed there in L.A.
that's a tough
tough look you got a ton of pals out there
that's scary stuff
wolf
at the half midpoint of the season
it was likely going to be
of let our start
this is first full campaign
you got a little bit of a look
down the stretch last year
what have you made
of the young Californian
and net
who has always just been too good
for every league he's played in
but you know he's too small
for the NHL noodles
well he's not too small
for the NHL it's just
it's now for me I just I want a crystal ball or I just want to hand him and go now you're two and a half years older now I'd love to see what he's going to look like when he's 26 27 28 as far as not in the physicality because you you know he's going to get a little bit we call it man strength you get a little bit stronger through workouts and through you know he'll know his body better put it that way but just between the ears handling the physical duress I still believe and this
is I've changed my mind on this, but I do think he has a chance to be one of the rare few now,
we would call 60 game starters because he's done it everywhere else.
Yeah.
So why not it?
Oh, we just lost your audio there, Nuddles.
Special.
Oh, I know.
My mom was calling and I got it on, I've got it on like,
circus or whatever.
Yeah.
I'm in the basement.
She's bringing the meatloaf down.
But no, he's got a chance to.
be a 60 game starter. I didn't think he was going to be. I thought maybe he'd be more of a
tandem guy, but I do believe he's had success everywhere that he's played and he's had that
durability. So now it's just, we talk about Zari's sealing and we're watching a progression.
There's no shame in him being, if he got 50 games this year and then developed into it,
like you don't have to hand him 63, 65. Now, Evanston kind of did that backwards with Stuart
Skinner. They signed Jack Campbell. Right, out of necessity. They signed Jack Campbell and said,
you're going to be the guy, but we've got this young goal he would like. Well, that hasn't
been the, you know, that wasn't the case. And then Skinner ends up playing, you know, 58 and now,
you know, 58 last year and 82 with, with playoffs. I think Wolf is going to get to that next level.
I really do. I think he's that special of a talented, just a talented goaltender.
size is always going to be a problem.
But you see Saros fought through it.
He's a special goalie.
I think Wolf is a special goalie.
But again, I want to hand him two and a half years of growing pains and experience
and see what the end product looks, but it looks pretty damn good.
Yeah, and depending where you go, there's different numbers for goals saved above expected.
He's like a plus eight.
Like he's taking eight goals away on the course of the season.
Dan Valladar in the same environment as a minus seven.
And that's just one place.
But like I think everyone would say,
Dan Vidar's probably a backup in the NHL.
We don't, middle of the pack backup.
Okay, sure.
There's a clear gap right now between the two.
And that's his first year in the league.
I've been impressed.
Yeah, and there is a gap.
But even if you just, for the naked eye, okay, from a goaltender, like, take stats out of it,
goal saved above the expectation, all of that.
But when you watch his skill set, this, you know, the difference between the two.
Valadaar's got size and I like his feet and I, you know, but.
there's nothing that jumps out of me about Wadar that says elite this you know elite glove
hand elite puck handling elite I look at wolf he has you know when you check the boxes on some of
the just mechanical stuff I think you can use the word elite with some stuff his positioning's elite
I think his feet are elite you know I think his reeds are elite like I think there's things that
so now the progression goes okay you got to back it up I can talk about it all I want and
and we can talk about it in the media,
but now he's got to go and do it for 55 to 63 games
for seven years, for eight years.
Can you do that?
And, you know, with your team in a retool
and maybe you're not going to be a playoff team,
maybe it will be, that type of stuff.
So I look at the two, there is a separation,
but there always was as far as skill set,
but now the proof is how they're playing at the NHL level.
I like turmoil.
We could talk about the caps or the Leafs and how good they're doing.
Who's hurting them?
But there's two teams out there that it feels like what the hell is going on.
Vancouver, who's still in there and the Rangers,
a team that I think I actually have one of my bets,
winning the Stanley Cup.
This team goes to the semifinals last year.
They're one of the best.
President's trophy.
The trophy.
And the Canucks, everyone thinks they're going to, last year,
was the blip, no, now they're going to build off that.
How are you dealing with these if you're in charge of those two or are they to blame?
Like, is dreary to have some blame for this?
I think, I think Chris has to have some blame with this because, you know, there is, okay,
let's just, I'll go separately on one, because the two of them, they're chaos,
but I think they're for different reasons.
Like, that's a difference.
Like, Vancouver's had chaos because even if you just look at, I always say this,
spine of the team. The goalie has this injury that he's coming back from in the playoffs
against Evanton and then he's not available to start the scene. They are damn lucky that they
signed Kevin Lankinen. Like, I mean, that, that's a, that's found money because Demco's an elite
goaltender, in my opinion, I don't know if he's ever going to be healthy again. I hope he is.
And I, because I, I think the league's better with, with great players in it. So there's,
there's the Demco situation that was crazy.
Miller takes a leave of absence. And you're like, okay, you know, this is all right. Your hope he's
all right. This is personal. Like, let's not mess with personal lives. But just, I look at Vancouver,
and I love Rick Tocket as a coach. I think they made some shrewd moves in the offseason to try and
add. But I mean, look at it. I'm like, you know, okay, it's something's not right there.
Like you're just, and then it comes out, okay, it's Patterson and Miller that don't like each other.
And you hear it out. I don't even know. That's the crazy part for me. And I defend it because
our 04 team, I think for the most part, everyone loved each other. And we had 23, 25 guys that
got along and liked each other and all that. But you think in today's world, you put 25 people,
you're not going to love everybody in that dress room. You just don't get along with them from
different backgrounds, different thought process. Like, you're not going to be best friends with all
of them. But the one thing that's always been constant when it comes to pro sports or any
any even businesses or anything, even if there's dysfunction, you'd be pros and you play
hard. And regardless of what happens, you can hate that the guy across from you, but he's
your teammate when you go out on the ice. And I just, something is weird in Vancouver where
I don't know if they feel like they felt that they could have handled it internally and it just
didn't, hasn't been handled. Now it's spilled over and it's awkward. Like, that's the one word
when I come to, when I think of the Vancouver Canucks, I'm watching, like, I'm watching Miller
and Miller's a hell of a player. And then, you know, Pedersen, when Miller wasn't there,
Pedersen stepped up and then, like, the two of them together, they're not having great seasons
when they're both together. It's just a weird thing. To me, it's just awkward because a guy like
Rick Talkin would look at them and go, get your act together because you're playing for me and
that's it. So the fact that they're still in that playoff spot area is, you know, miraculous for me,
because they got good players. That's the one thing. So I'm going to park Vancouver and go over to
the Rangers. Something is off there, like completely off. Like I don't know if, because Jacob Trubo
was the problem. Well, traded him. They go south. And then Capo-Caco, you trade him for a third and a fifth.
Okay, like, but is your team better?
Like, are you better by subtraction?
Like, you know, that's the thing.
That hasn't been the case.
And now you've got Schisturkin that's injured.
I watched them play the other day.
The one thing that I could pinpoint is their stars had no emotion.
Panarin is his hair was dry.
It drives me nuts when a guy makes $10.5 million and he's floating around on the wing and his hair is dry.
That was always my argument with William Meelander and Tray.
Toronto. Like the guy's got gorgeous hair, dry hair because it, you know, didn't hit anybody, didn't
get hit. I look at Panarin. I look at Zabanajad's not having a great season. Chris
Prider has two assists, 13 goals and two assists. Like something is seriously fractured within that
room. So, okay, so what do you do as a manager? You have a couple trades. Why is Peter Labielette
still coaching? I think he's a fantastic coach. But at some point,
Give them a reset.
Yeah, like, what's going on here?
Like, that's, the Rangers perplexes me more because Vancouver,
you can see injury and, and, and, and some, you know, some public stuff now.
The Rangers, yeah, I don't know what the hell's going on there.
They were in the semifinals last year, and everyone's raving about how great everything is,
and we're the best, President's trophy.
Like, they're great on paper.
Yeah, it's a huge.
Here's the one thing that I can speak to for the six weeks I played for that organization in,
2004 when I got traded for Chris Simon. That team, you need to have a special team because
the minute you leave the rink, nobody hangs out. You're in New York City. And one guy lived in
New Jersey, the other guy lives up for that, you know, like it just like that team was,
it's, it's like there's a business there. Like you play, everybody's their own little
corporation. I never felt like that in other organizations. When I got to you,
New York. And believe me, and I don't want, again, I don't have that great of a pulse. I was there
six weeks and they were flushing people down the toilet. They brought, you know, our starting
last year, yeah. Our starting defensive core was Chris McAllister and Dale Purrington, because they
had traded Leach to Toronto. Yeah, I mean, Barnaby went, like there was just people getting
traded left and right. And it was Messier-Swan song and he was done. He didn't. He didn't.
didn't even show up for the last game. It was a road game. He's like, I'm done. I'm not playing that one.
So at the end of the day, I can't speak to, you know, what's going on. But I just, I know that
organization. It's always a struggle just to be tight anyways because of the semantics of that,
the whole organization. You practice and rye. You play at MSG. It's just it's a tough battle anyways.
Yeah. And it's, it's a great point. Like, if you're in Calgary, it's easy to get guys together.
for a pregame meal. If you're in Manhattan, it's a nightmare. Someone lives in Long Island.
Some guys got an apartment right by MSG and other guys coming in from Jersey.
Like it's totally different ball wax for sure.
With Vancouver, I'm now fascinated because you could always say, well, we didn't have Demko,
while Heronics spent out for ages. Quentin's now her, oh, Pedersen's hurt. Here's the status.
They got Heronic on a conditioning stand in Abbotsford. They're not going to play them.
They're just practicing them an hour from their rank, right?
he's going to be back right away.
Hughes is back. He looked great
the last couple games.
Like probably you should win a Norris good.
You know, Pedersen's return from injury.
Demko is returned.
They just reassigned she loves to the American League,
which tells you Demko's ready to start playing again.
It was a back issue, not that weird muscle on his knee.
Like when they're healthy, now all eyes are on Pedersen and Miller.
There's no more excuses here.
Everyone knows it's a good coach.
It's the roster that the GM built.
will they add a D probably?
But right now all eyes are on those two guys that don't see the world the same way.
Well, sorry, I know you're go ahead to that.
To add to that, you've been a team guy.
You've played on various teams.
You've played on tight teams.
You've played on teams that aren't together.
Have you played in a situation where two guys actually two key cogs in the wheel,
dislike each other?
Again, we're repeating what we're hearing.
None of us are in that room.
But the fact that it's out there, it's got to be pretty obvious.
and and does Tocet, foot, those guys that are there
have the ability to bring those guys together
or is this a, we got to cut bait with someone and move on.
Well, that's the crazy part is who do you cut bait with?
Well, everyone, everyone's saying, well, Miller's older.
Well, Miller's a hell of a player.
Miller's the coach's kind of player too.
Exactly.
But then also talk, it doesn't have a lot of term.
Like, this is a really deep, deep.
It's a very interesting case.
study but again.
How do you sheds each other?
I just.
Because for guys like us,
I think about,
when this came out and I'm like,
I wonder how I would deal with this.
Like it's trying to bring these guys together to be buddies.
You're right.
The only thing that I struggle with,
Wrette,
is information.
So what is the nature of the problem?
That's the,
you know,
is it just a philosophy difference
on how they approach the game?
Is one,
hardened guy and is one sensitive.
You know, is it, is it
that type of stuff? Or is it
egregious where,
you know, something happened
off ice where, you know, who
knows? Again, I'm not even going to go there
because, you know, it's just, but is
it just, is there
something that, like
that, I would first, we would,
you need to know the nature of the problem.
As the bridge burned or is it's just
cold? Yeah.
Is it, is it, is it, is it
unrepairable?
Or is it like you guys are going away on a vacation for a weekend to Vegas?
We're sending you two and you're coming back as best buddies once you squash it.
And you know what I mean?
Like I think there are ways that you can do it.
And Red, I'm the same way because I would take it personally as a glue guy in the room
that I wouldn't be able to match it.
Like to make it work.
But I, you know, it's not, I don't think things are as simply solved now.
days with a case of beer and a barbecue.
You know, I just, I think there's more complex.
There's money involved.
There's egos involved.
A lot of these young athletes now have their possees.
And I call it posse.
It's their parents involved.
Their brothers and their uncles.
And like there's just a group like, yeah, you've got an entourage where it's not,
you're not just that young player who's 23 isn't calling his best friend going,
what do I need to do, the dad's probably involved.
And does he have a girlfriend or a wife who's disruptive?
Like I look at a lot of things when I look at the whole package.
And it's interesting when I still once in a while a team will call and I'll do some back channeling us to like the character of players.
And you'd go through a checklist.
And the checklist isn't like, okay, is that guy disruptive in the room?
It's like, who's attached to that person?
and you know do you does does does does he have a girlfriend that lives with them does he have a wife that lives with him
because he has he have kids is he wife who had a girlfriend what well you're right like and here's another thing too
social media really affects lives now so you're seeing I know guys where teams have looked at players and said
that person's you know spouse or brother or uncle or dad is disruptive on social media
because they talk about the power play.
They talk about, and is it worth the hassle?
So to me, there's like a checklist of stuff now that goes with today's athlete
because of the phones and the amount of money guys are making and all that type of stuff.
So I don't know if it's just easily squashed with a steak dinner and a nice glass of wine.
I wish it would be, but again, I don't know the nature of the problem.
But I'm sure fascinated because me being that former kind of blue guy in the room and
And I'm, yeah, me and Brett, that's, we were, we were cut from the same cloth.
That's a part of the reason you got paid to play.
It wasn't just on your ice performance.
Sure.
No.
That's true responsibility.
Fix it.
Exactly.
That's a fascinating angle.
And I look at Quinn Hughes and I'm like, what an incredible young player, probably
will have multiple Norrises when it's done.
He's clearly their most important player, which is saying something on that roster with the goalie
and the two forwards you've been talking about.
But he's a quietly by example guy.
and now he's the captain of this?
Like, shit, that's not a good spot for that kid.
No, and he might have a different view.
You know, the hardest part is if he's caught in the middle
because he might be really close separately.
He might be close separately with them.
He might golf with J.T. Miller and go for dinners with Patterson, you know,
because they, so, and that's the hardest part.
You're in the middle because if that guy's, you know,
mother, you know, wanting to him, he's the guy in the middle.
And I don't know if he's a guy that stands up.
up and says smarten up. You guys sort it out. Like I, you know, I feel like Iggy at some point in our
dressing room, if there was a problem, you know, him or Connie or Red or Robin or, you know,
those guys would, would squash it or get in your face about it. And, and if they didn't, you know,
I think the team was strong enough, the room was strong enough to handle any type of disagreement here
or there because not everybody got along.
Oh, and you don't always, you play on teams where not everybody gets along, but not to this
point where it becomes a public and maybe
it is the social media in the world we live
in. It's a while, right? The fact that, like, even
you talked about the Rangers, I'm like, when's the last
time you had a GM send a list
of players out for trade, and
all of a sudden it's public knowledge? Like,
what's crazy? I almost
feel like, again,
I almost feel like that might have been
done on purpose. Because you
don't, I don't.
That's, that's, that's
I know, I know, I know, man.
You like that? Yeah. I don't, I know, I know
managers that, you know, Lou,
you think Lou Lamarillo is sending out a list
and letting it leak to the media
of who's available, who's not.
And you're right. I think
where we're not looking through all of this
and we should, because
I want to absolve managers
and players and all of this, is agents.
Agents always
have ulterior motives. Look at
Flurries guy there.
Walsh.
Alan Walsh, you know, the
tweet with the stab in the back and stuff
like that doesn't help a player.
I think Hubey's got Walsh too, doesn't he does?
Noted Alan Walsh enthusiast, Alan Walsh.
Right.
I'm always tweeting, but only about my clients,
and I will not respond any questions,
but I will pop them up on they play.
You're very unbiased view of the world, Alan.
Tell us about your podcast.
I'm sure it's very rational and balanced.
It's funny because I met him,
and I actually like him.
He's a nice guy to Chad, but he is a great agent.
But he knows.
knows where his bread is buttered.
Like that's it. Like he fights tooth and nail for his players.
I don't love that he hates Gary Batman.
Like I just,
I don't like that he hates that he just takes runs at him all the time because
he forgets that Alan Walsh has gotten very wealthy because of the National Hockey League too.
And Gary,
you know,
Gary Bettman's league.
So that's the only thing I would,
I would say to him is you take shots at the league that you're literally biting
the hand that feeds you.
That league pays you a lot of money.
So, but outside of that, I think there's agents that of leak stuff in there, too.
That, you know, that doesn't help because they'll leak it to insiders.
Insiders will put it on Twitter and all of that and the way we go.
So it is, it's fascinating.
Both of those teams and the crazy part is both of them could make the playoffs and go on some crazy runs if you got their act together.
Yeah, these teams play to their ceilings.
Like that could be a challenge in the final.
It really could.
Okay, we're taking way too much of your time.
Where are you?
And are you ready for Ottawa, Buffalo?
Are you still in transit?
It sounded like a nightmare travel day for you.
Yeah, I'm in Ottawa.
I'm in Ottawa.
It was, we were in Detroit,
it was two nights ago and flew home.
And then, yeah, it's just been gone.
So, getting into the room.
And now my internet doesn't work.
I don't know what's happened.
Like, it just, so I was on my phone battling.
And that's why my mom was calling because I usually go on,
you can put your phone on focus and nobody will interrupt it but somehow my mom has a bat phone
somehow yeah you got her in the noodles it's your mother you always answer there's more important thing
he's got a fido she has a fido prepaid flip phone i am not lying he does not have a smartphone
so that's what not part that probably keeps her saying she has an ipad where i can text her and i send her
articles and stuff and all of that.
And she will text me back like a little bit.
But she, her phone, there's no text available, no nothing.
She has a Fido flip phone.
Old school.
Love it.
Enjoy Sabers and Sincide.
Hopefully you guys get old mark back soon.
And it also is, I hope your buddy's in L.A. and everyone's doing it.
Yeah.
Yeah, I talked to a few of them.
One of my buddies, Joey sent a picture from his bedroom window the other night.
And it was like, I'm like, God, that looks pretty close.
It's farther than you think, but he goes its head in this direction.
So who knows?
It's been ugly for a lot of people out there.
I hope everybody's safe.
Thanks, buddy.
Chat soon, guys.
Yeah, love it.
There's noodles, sabers and savers and sands.
Sins and svers.
Two perpetual rebuilds.
They might actually, one of them might be coming to an end here.
How about that?
Noodles, of course, joins us on the Crystal Waters plumbing and heating insider hotline.

Give them a call.
Check them out.
Crystal Waters.
Anything stand out there a lot.
I mean, I just think when you talk Rangers and Canucks,
it's just mandatory popcorn.
There's not more entertaining teams out.
There's a lot of teams that are just cruise control
to the playoffs. These are the most fascinating
experiences. I agree with you. And two teams
that he said at the end of you could
win it all. You could absolutely
get hot the second half and all of a sudden
there's a kumbaya moment and
they're the St. Louis Blues
and they're hoisting a Stanley Cup. Well, the
Canucks without Besser for game seven
and without Demko the whole series.
And Pedersen was shit. And they had two
cracks in knocking out Edmonton. Yeah. Like if they
win six or seven and they did it
without two of their best five players and Pedersen basically wasn't there.
Like it's, they were close.
I know you think about all the ink spelt on the oilers.
They almost were done in six against the connection.
And I love the conversation with noodles about this because what we tried to talk about
was what,
I'll throw myself in there too.
Yeah, hell yeah.
We put a massive amount of our thought process when we were playing into making sure
rooms never turned into this.
And to your point, like there's a lot of guys.
Sounds like a shot, but the difference between the 40th best goaltender in the 100th is not a lot.
The guys to get the jobs are the guys that are great teammates.
Yeah.
Like Scott McLennan did it forever or whatever.
Like you look at around it long journeyman backups.
It's not the best goalie they could find.
It's the guy that could play that role and get along with everyone.
It's, you've got to be a great glue guy if you're going to be a backup.
And so I don't know.
It's, it is fascinating watching those two teams that are, and again, I think Vancouver's doing all right with all right with all the,
been dealing with the rangers just cratered and i i actually don't see them coming out they got up
three nothing on dallas the other night they've got just sturkin returning to the lineup i believe
tonight but the schedule is just murderous i think they have the devils and then like avalanche and
vegas like it is a murderer's row that schedule we put it up like two weeks ago go if you can find it
go pull the rangers schedule because 38 points i mean i guess it's not like you're that far out of a
playoff spot, but it...
No, we're talking about Columbus being in a playoff spot.
42. Yeah. Like it's, they just need a good
two weeks. It's just that they've been
dog shit for so long.
It's the turmoil, yeah, yeah. And it's almost
I wonder if they were at 30
points before all this
shit hit the fan, right? Like, I don't
know. They were at sixth in the league when
that list of names got leaked.
Same roster.
And just one of the worst teams in the
NHL since that happened.
You know, Larry Brooks is calling that room
into question it's got to be but you also got to look at the GM and the owner and be like
was there a different way you could approach this that's just it to me it's like yeah the room's responsible
but they've i think they're flipping the bird to somebody yeah i don't think they mind the coach
i think they're looking at the owner and the GM's in this is how you're going to treat us publicly
like come on and they all got no moves that's not easy uh let's get to a pender report shall we
yes uh exciting news boomers vomiting today sadly not to do with the pender reports so
take video different consequences
would have, we've been okay with it.
What was it? The relish guy got him, mustard?
The hot dog, yeah.
The hot dog guy got him real good.
So unfortunately, different circumstances for his, it's vomiting today.
What do we need to tell you about Villalaconda?
Well, it's your dealership for life.

It's Head to Flames Nation, right?
What's going on? What are people talking about?
It's happening.
Flash?
We've got some Pike. We got a lot of Pike here.
Pike got into it. Last night's game
canceled due to the devastating fires in Los Angeles.
Essentially, there's like six or seven open dates
between the end of the year at Staples.
All of them, Flames and Kings are already busy.
So it looks like April 17,
which is slightly due to the last day of the NHL season.
neither were playing.
Staples is open.
Don't be surprised if it ends up there.
Good stuff from Pike to do the digging there.
If you want to figure out the schedule, what's going on?
How the hell does he know people at Staples Center?
Well, I mean, it's Pike Bombs, man.
He's connected.
Or he just knows the Staples Center's website.
It could be really anything, I guess.
Just look at the, he's playing one thing.
Also on the website, more good stuff.
A prospect reports.
How are the Flames prospects?
They're climbing up the organization.
organizational prospect rankings.
Certainly you'd expect of a top five to 10 group at this point.
What's St. Perrick's season late?
What about Henry Mews?
There's Axel Hurtig playing for team Sweden.
He's playing for the Calgary Hitman.
What about Andrew Bashah?
Set to go under the knife for an injury that might keep them out for the remainder of the year.
All in there with Pike as well.
Wolf, been very good this year.
We found this stat on the season.
Now, the Flames 19 wins.
Okay, that's 500-ish.
They're almost at 41 games.
They're at 40.
Wolf has 13 of them.
They've split time.
That's not half the wins.
That's not half the wins.
It's more than half.
And I think Vladar has been,
Vladar, he's been what we become accustomed to seeing.
The second half should have a lot more wolf starts.
Whether that's a trade deadline departure or just ride the better guy,
I, uh, yeah.
All I, and I don't disagree, but I still think for,
a short time period you try and play
Vlodar as much as you can
get him rolling so you can move him for sure
standings look like this
Flames watched the Canucks pick up another
loser point last night. Nudels referenced
that it was Pierre Luke Dubois in overtime
Jack what did you send me as soon as he won that game
in overtime? We should have been all over the anytime
goal for any time we crush the one of the shows free money folks
surprised then
didn't have that in our bets
damn it one point back of the Canucks
games played are even. They're right there. Crazy. Someone's pointing out the loser points, a big issue.
If they'd lost those seven games in overtime, just in regulation, they'd have a top 10 pick.
Other people saying, geez, if they'd won more in overtime, look, you'd be a playoff team.
Both those things remain true. Schedule, we flashed it. We'll do it again. They're hosting Los Angeles on Saturday.
Then it is a Midwest road swing. Chicago Monday, St. Louis Tuesday, St. Louis Thursday.
then they're off to say Winnipeg, home for one,
back out for two more.
It is a stretch of six road games and seven contests.
Is it time?
Yes.
A lot of road, which has not been necessarily what they're best at.
What else have we got, Jack?
Are we right to the former flame?
Because this is gold.
Yes, we are.
Okay.
It was noodles, I believe, that earlier this year said,
Have you seen Oliyokin?
Yes, it was.
And who did he look like?
Mike.
Iron Mike Keenan.
So feast your eyes on Oliyokinen,
and looking like Mike Keenan and also,
maybe even acting like Mike Keenan.
Because it's not enough.
Is it fucking satisfying the fifth place,
six plays, whatever the fucking cases?
Let's take the fucking step now.
Every fucking game, every shift has to fucking mean something.
time to fucking step it up
we can still do something about it
or you want to let this slip away
holy
Kenan I like him
wow does it sound like Kenan
is that Kenan-esque or not enough personal shots
not enough personal shots it was still a little bit
to the point yeah
stuck to hockey and not yet
you're an idiot
that mustache is Kenan-esque
the hair we all thought he was bald
He just shaved it for fun, apparently, all those years.
Oh, we knew that.
We knew he wasn't.
That is wild to me that those are the decisions he made.
It's easier.
We showered so much.
It's a shot.
He's coaching in Timra, which is in the top league in Sweden, the S-HL,
and was at Eukrit in SM-Liga in Finland the last three years.
He's a head coach, fourth year in a row.
He's been a head coach in one of those top programs.
He was over in Florida for a while.
I was English.
Yeah, in Sweden.
That kind of surprised me a little bit, but then again,
oh yeah, well, of course, all the sweet speak English.
It spins a little bit less.
They're very smart people in Scandinavia, Jack.
Many languages.
How many languages do you speak, Jack?
God damn, gorgeous, too.
Half of one.
They are gorgeous.
That's your only yoke it and treat for the day.
Thank you to everyone that sent me that.
Lovely.
here's a crazy stat.
Alex Gorgiev or
4v or Georgi 5,
depending where you, this is incredible.
He was traded to San Jose.
They got McKenzie Blackwood back.
Colorado's like, we're done.
We can't do this guy anymore.
Like we'll take any other goal.
We need some stability.
Why?
Well, after 20 minutes,
if Giorgiyev started, you're screwed,
it feels like.
Come back to. After last night,
one win,
one time they're leading,
20 times they were trailing,
four times they were tied after 20 minutes.
How do you like playing from behind?
If you like it, Georgiavs your guy.
You know, espresso, suede, which you can't get anymore, but something.
It needs something.
You've got to be ready to start.
Test them for Zoom is.
Maybe you throw them in to start second.
Second period goalie.
Yeah.
Look at this outside the box.
Splitsies.
Winner classic news.
What's the last place on earth or in the NHL you'd expect to get an outdoor game?
Florida.
They're getting two.
Shut the front door.
And look at this is what,
GTA style.
Yes,
the GTA cover.
That's deadly.
That is cool.
That's really good.
So you got Barkov,
Kachuk,
Ryan Hart on the top,
Trochek,
Panarin and Adam Fox,
I think,
down below.
It's plus 18 in Fort Lauderdale's today.
They're going to have to get creative,
Rett.
I don't know that you want this in the afternoon,
but they do more than we do.
Probably play it at night.
Also,
Tampa Bay is doing a stadium series game
so they're going to get a game as well
impressive if they can
pull it off. Why do they put it on the second and not
the first? Well, they tried the
31st this year. They've done the first.
I think they're just trying to
dolege the college football playoff
in NFL. I don't know the dates though.
lowest ratings ever for the outdoor game
Chicago on
year's Eve day. Is it not turned into
it's a festival? It's
not a great TV event. Yeah.
If you're in Chicago,
I got to play like shit,
but it would have been,
I know it was played.
I don't.
Yeah.
Was it 31st,
first?
It's not circled on my camera.
I watched it only because we had Australians and they're like,
this is crazy.
I'm like,
you think hockey's crazy?
Check this out.
They're outside at a base.
Oh,
crotty.
How many people are there, mate?
Like 40,000.
Oh, 40,000.
Loved it.
Marchand and the Bruins.
Quit doing what the flames do.
Mom's trip.
Oh.
So here's.
where he gets it from. Check out
Mom Marchand.
Oh, good morning. It's a great day to be me.
What are you're working on?
Just looking off some pregame notes.
People to piss off. It's all pissing.
A bunch of studs.
I'm beautiful.
Mom's.
That's good.
Yeah, he doesn't fall into the personality by accident, does it?
have some fun.
Everyone's freaking out over the world juniors and rightfully so.
We sent Dave Cameron on the Mars mission earlier this week.
But that doesn't mean everything's going to be awful for foreign nations.
No Dave Cameron.
They got any chill GMs picking the players.
But since the roster was announced, here is the list of top scored Canadians.
None of them are on the team.
And I think this is a funny coincidence.
Don't misconstrue it.
You got to read this out because this is
Schifley, 11 goals since the roster was announced.
He was not put on the team.
He's probably one of the most debatable omissions.
Jordan Kyrie's been on fire of late 11 goals.
He's not on the team.
Tavares 10, not on the team.
He's playing with McDavid, although the Oilers aren't this year.
He's got 10.
He's not on the team.
Marci's out 10, not on the team.
Valardi, 10, not on the team.
Huberto, Huberto.
Nine, not on the team.
Tom Wilson, nine, not on the team.
Tyler Bertuzi, nine, not on the team.
It's more of a funny fact.
I still take Crosby, McKinnon, McDavid.
I don't even know who's all on the team other than the superstars.
It's pretty much four lines of superstars and a couple checkers.
But yeah, it's, uh, that is, that doesn't probably more just show the depth of Canada than any glaring omissions.
You think she, she'll have a chance of it.
Not a great defensive center.
Well, see.
Okay.
That's what Cameron and his crew did, though.
Anyway.
he's not a yeah like sheifley's not one of your best nine scores i don't mind anthony surrelly over him
but again it's a philosophical debate what we got mad about to church we left them leaving their
best players at home that's not a kid in there tonight NHL games lots pick one that you like red
no flames i particularly am curious about two of them i like leaps carolina the freddie
Anderson Bowl. I think he's back skating with the team. And Colorado, Minnesota, that's in a
central division clash. Devil's Rangers actually. It could be kind of real. I mean, anytime I can get
me some New York Islanders and Lou Lamarillo, I'm all in, especially a late start like that.
Who? Baby. So. Iles in Vegas on the strip. Okay. Can't wait. Can't wait.
Colorado minnie is the best game of the. Crosby McDavid, fellas. I don't give a shit.
Does Crosby get up for these ones?
I feel like you did.
I think I'm chasing some Crosby shots.
I feel like they get blown out every time they play this team.
I think Crosby goes, but they lose.
That's kind of how it.
That's the tail of the time.
Sounds right.
All-Star News from the American Oculee.
Congrats to these two Calgary Ranglers.
Told you before.
Oh, Cooley did make it.
I was wondering if he was.
Devin Cooley,
Rory Cairns.
Yeah, apparently having by far and away,
the best goalie in the American League.
He gets to go to the L-Star again.
He's got the neck.
on that photo or which of them.
Bad camera angles.
Bad angles.
Maybe good.
Congratulations, fellas.
Good work,
boys.
Big bonuses.
Now here's the thing,
Rory.
Would you be okay missing the All-Star Classic?
Do I get my bonus?
We're going to be paying the NHL money every day.
Well, that's what I'd be telling if I was Connie.
We'll see what happens if there's a call up later.
It's all business there.
I don't mind these graphics either.
Chubby cheeks there.
It looks like Ryan House.
I don't like that picture.
Let's go to the next one.
Let's move on.
Cool.
had a better one.
Does he have a neck in this one, Jack?
Yeah, that looks dead.
Look at the eyes.
Intimidating.
He's a mean bastard.
Congrats to those fellas.
Giggling and laugh.
Calgary Hitman.
History.
Yesterday.
All the great players.
The history of the Calgary Hitman.
You got lads or get slaps.
Ben Kindle, franchise record,
21 game point street.
It's a lot of games.
It's like what a third of a WHL season?
That's incredible.
My kid's roommate from the hat.
He played in that game as well.
Really?
Pavel Brendel held the record a quarter century ago.
Get out of here, Pavel.
You're lazy prick.
You were lazy.
He's a good score.
Talented, but did he shoot it?
Congratulations, Camac.
A bunch of monster ads as well at the deadline.
They're shaping up to have a very fun spring at the dome with the hitman
if it's not going to be one for the flames.
NFL, we're here.
Wildcard weekend.
interesting stat on underdogs.
Here it is.
Okay, so underdogs don't do well on wildcard weekend.
They lose more than they win, but they're supposed to lose more than they win.
69 and 105 all time.
An average of one and a half upsets a year.
So if we had to pick one underdog to win, we can go through that exercise.
There's been one underdog every year that's won in the wildcard round for 40 of the last 46 years.
So pretty much a guarantee there'll be one.
upset here. Pick a team on the board getting points that could win upright.
Houston's a dog by three. Pittsburgh a dog by 10. Broncos nine point dogs. Four and a half
point dogs are the Packers in Philadelphia. Washington gets three points in Tampa and it's a one point
dog, the Rams Monday night against the Vikings. Give me Washington.
Don't mind Washington. Daniels puts on a show. I could see that happening. I feel like that's.
I like the Rams Monday night. I feel like it. I know it. I
is technically when you're saying dogs.
Yeah. But one point isn't enough for me.
It's the easy answer. Yeah. I also think it would be very
chargersy just when everyone thinks they're a really good team to go lose to Houston as well.
I'll say Houston. And I don't think the Packers are a bad pick either.
No, they haven't looked good at the end of the year. They haven't. But again, in a shootout,
could it happen? Yeah, they played in week one. It was shootout.
Philly at home. Yeah, give me Washington.
I like Philly more, but Washington or Houston. I know I picked two.
Sorry.
I'll take the Rams.
Stay away from my Chargers, you jerks.
Let's keep moving.
What else we got in the NFL?
Oh, yeah.
There's teams that haven't won a Super Bowl that are in.
Is this their year?
You'd be familiar with a few of these teams, right?
Oh, yeah, let's look at it.
Bills.
Bill's lines.
Chargers lines.
One hell of a final.
Yeah, I would watch that.
I'll watch anything, I suppose, though.
I have it's a Super Bowl.
Texans and Vikings also winless all time, as are my beloved.
I say one of those teams wins a Super Bowl.
Please, yeah, do that.
No more Chiefs.
So sick of the Chiefs.
Jack, are they the new Patriots yet?
Are they worse?
Oh, yeah, they definitely are.
Okay.
They're going to be better than the Patriots.
Can I find a way to bet that?
I want one of these teams to win.
Yeah, yeah.
Just go future, Super Bowl.
Let's do it.
Yeah.
That'd be a heck of a little, you know,
they built some things in there.
First time Super Bowl winner?
Yes or no?
I like that bet.
Or just bet them all individually.
I think I bet the bills to win already.
Yeah, you do.
You tied it to some.
like basketball game in September.
Lehigh Valley. It's right.
Whoops.
Sorry about your luck the other night.
What? Well, the shoveler. I don't know if you saw this.
She found your man cave.
Shit.
This is, oh,
this is the back.
The house.
Look at the Rett's built here.
Oh,
what?
There's the padlock. But where's the door?
All right, you dirty talk.
Look at this.

whole award show it was like the highest streamed video on x ever who won
it. Well, there was multiple awards. I don't really want to say the names of the awards, but
I think we should just play at one.
You like cereal? You like milk? Boomer does. Check out his kitchen. This is wild.
Because you're entertaining over the holidays.
Drink up with milk and then what a glass, right?
Dip a cookie, go get it. Maybe a little, a dash or some tea. Isn't that handy?
No, that's gross.
That's not gross at all.
There's nothing gross.
It's disgusting.
The hawk and ludes in that zinc for all winter.
No, that's gross.
You ever heard ACDC on the harp?
I was going to say yes, but now the, no.
You're going to be able to say yes in 30 seconds.
All right.
Let's go.
I like it.
Yes.
Harkest?
Electric carp.
There.
Jackian.
yeah let's do it you a harpaholic i don't even know what that is a harp what that's the instrument

Rat, your bike moves are getting pretty good.
I got to tell you.
I didn't know yet.
You had these skills because we've seen you weaving in traffic.
Doing the pop wheelies.
So here we go.
Check this out.
I think he's got the fajitas.
I think he's got the fajitas.
Beautiful stuff.
I wonder you're popping a wheel.
You don't want that to spill out.
North America.
It's disgusting.
We take things too serious.
That guy's living right there.
You think he's got a sink full of milk?
No.
Okay.
More bike tricks.
I didn't know you're doing deliveries.
They have those delivery car guys?
Well, I got to do.
Is this AI, Jack?
What are we doing here?
By the way, do you remember that song, Freestyle?
That's a big.
That's a big.
It's got to be made up.
Tell me that's real.
Can we get some comments here?
Is this real or is this fake?
Hello.
If that's real, that's insane.
Like one wrong plant of your hand?
What are we doing here?
How are we faking this?
If my pizza doesn't get here, I'm going to freak out.
You green screen some guy doing that on a pome horse.
Then you put it on top of the bike.
I don't know.
How does RJ make all his ass?
Special effects.
What do we?
Techies over here.
Need some comments.
I'm going to say,
this is real.
Real or not real?
What's the votes?
What do we got?
One of the people saying?
I hope it's real.
You're real or fake?
Real.
Because I want it to be real.
Yeah,
it's real.
I want it to be real so badly that I'm saying real.
So it must be real.
It's got to be real.
There it is.
It's a 100% real.
Lance says real.
An authentic edition of the Pender report.
Let's flash up to comments here.
If they're saying it,
let's throw them.
AI.
Oh.
That's,
yes.
Chili,
I'm with you,
buddy.
get out of here trav
it's just serious
seriously
you know they verified checkmark
Gary's saying yep

oh
Tyler
love that set of cars
good other
the hell's rigged mean
rigged what do you mean rigged
it's hanging from a rigged
it's hanging from a rig?
no
Jim
AI
you are all ready for AI
domination yeah it is getting
hard to tell apart
don't get me start
I got here early this morning.
I was listening to a podcast and the thing.
I told you about these flying vehicles years ago.
They're out there now.
And there's all kinds of things coming.
I'm just excited that we're now at a time in society where no one knows what the truth is because people just,
oh, look, here's the proof.
Oh, well, this is I don't.
But look, here's the proof.
There's no more truth.
None of what you hear, of half of what you see.
Now you can just believe nothing.
You just can't believe in any.
Have you guys tried the Twitter AI?
I love it.
You used it a lot.
I was telling the boys the other day.
Do you have one you can flash to us?
Like one of the dumb things?
I can grab one from my phone.
I was trying to get one at ret.
Like you could literally just search like,
you put it in a search like photo of someone working at like McDonald's.
And it's just,
it's,
well,
no,
because I had that bet that came through that long shot the other day.
Yeah.
And so,
you know,
Jack,
I don't know where this is not AI clearly.
But if you wanted to see,
for example,
anyway,
we'll get to in a moment.
I'll,
we'll,
we'll carry on that conversation.
do want to thank our pals of village Honda for all the new here on the Pinda report.
Village Honda, Northwest Automol Village Honda.com dealership for life indeed.
Also, all makes all models and all budget for pre-owned vehicles over 90 on site, access to 500 plus in the dealer group.
Whatever you're looking forward, they've got it for you.
Definitely worth the trip, Village Honda, Northwest Auto Mall.
Okay, so what is it called GROC?
That's the AI that...
I think it's called GROC 2.
okay so grok one was the first AI on twitter slash X and now
grok 2 is the is the latest AI engine okay
so you can type in anything like
Elon Musk breakdancing on a jet
like you could do and they'll just pull up a photo like
yeah I don't know how long it takes what it would you walk it
it takes seconds it depends on the person though like
it's only like famous people like I try to do one of
and it's just some random dude
wasn't famous enough there was not enough there was not a photo
of you you weren't you weren't making it you know what it probably is all the photos you
you had a shield or a helmet or something in the way it's stick also not on any social
media so it was not like that yeah I don't really know what how the what the cutoff would
be for that but once a eye gets better it'll figure it out yeah we'll get that soon great
but anyways you just type in give me a photo of you wanted to put a photo of hey my buddy's uh
well I don't want to say you could really sewer someone is my point
Jerome Ginnla wearing the silver medal of the Salt Lake Olympics and then send it to him.
Like you could really mess with people.
Yeah,
within seconds.
Way worse than that.
Yeah,
I was trying to clean up for that.
So you have an example first,
Jack?
Do,
well,
no,
I don't have one on my phone either on my phone.
No worries.
I'll pull them on.
We'll do it tomorrow.
Let's do the bet.
Let's get to our,
you know what?
Pull it up while we're doing the bets if you can't because there's one that fits in very
nicely here.
We get to our bets of the day for our good pals of bet three, six, five.
It's the world's largest sports, betting,
platform what else you need to hear that unbelievable well you could hear you could hear code yeah code
nation you got to get that when you open your account huge range of markets red will be illustrating
that today whatever the moment it's never ordinary at bet 365 okay so where did we both put
some wagers in today i'm on some hockey you're on the other let's start with ret i'm on everything
because i'm a sports fan i don't care about crocodiles and money's green that's what you're trying
to get here.
Yeah. One second.
Oh,
where we're,
okay.
Wait for what.
Are you going to do the AI thing for?
No,
I'm just,
oh,
you're just focusing.
I'm trying to do two things at once,
which is hard for him because he's got one computer and I'm,
yeah,
you need.
What in this high tech?
There we are.
Okay,
right,
walk us through your picks here.
College football is a big deal.
It is.
Especially south of the four now border.
Yeah.
The arbitrary line is,
I think,
somebody's going to erase it.
Sure.
It won't matter.
apparently uh i like notre dame and ohio state absolutely snot bubble the oregon ducks last hammered it were they
like 34 hushed them the tucks were undefeated you think that ohio state's gonna lose now not a chance rolling
two-leg parley now tell us about this fellow jeremiah well he plays for said team that i just mentioned
and they throw him the ball a lot really and he runs like a gazelle wow i do love animals i like jeremiah
Smith. He is flying.
Throw the ball up there. He'll go get it.
Most receiving yards in the semifinal.
So the two games, Jeremiah,
to have the most receiving yards, plus 175,
your two-leg parley's plus 265.
Speaking of animals, what's this final bet?
Well, me and Eminem, we go way back.
Is that right?
We're Detroit and eight mile.
Are you co-owners?
We're shady and Miss Shady is bound to win Race 8.
It might be over already.
Race 8 Mahoning Valley, plus 650,
Miss Shady.
Do we know what? Is it dog racing, horse racing, emu racing?
Oh, that's a horse.
That's a horse.
Shizzle.
Miss Shady. Shady Shizzle.
And you and Eminem are co-owners.
That's very exciting news.
1231, that thing's supposed to go on.
That's pretty quick here.
Well, I've got Crosby with a two point night.
I thought I had, I got, oh, I didn't put it in there.
Yeah.
I also like the wild get one and a half.
Yeah, I don't mind that either.
I've got Cuddy Crosby, two points tonight is plus 220.
That's a really big number.
Sid comes to play.
when it's against McDavid.
I don't know if Pittsburgh wins,
but I'm hoping for something high scoring here.
We'll see.
And Leon Drysidal,
four shots is not a ton for him.
We did really well with hitting three shots last game.
Leakier team in Pittsburgh than the one they faced last,
I think.
So I'm going to ride Drysaddle four or more shots plus 155.
Those are bets for Bet365,
which truly is sensational.
It's a lot.
I'm getting rid of Carlson or.
I mean, I don't think they can get rid of Carlson.
That's what people said to San Jose too, though, to your point.
That's right.
Retain more and pass them down the line.
Do you have that?
Do you got something for us here?
Yeah, so this is an AI of, I couldn't get Ryan, but I was like, okay, what would I search to, to make someone look like Ryan?
A mullet, a Hawaiian shirt, some sunglasses.
This is me after a wildcard weekend.
Words into this.
Yeah.
And then she.
There's our pals at 36.5.
So good.
That's unbelievable.
And I'm going to be able to afford way more shirts like that.
Look at this.
Your units are massive.
It's about to get bigger.
My units.
Look at that stacks.
Geez.
Wow.
I kind of.
I'm dead sexy, but I don't know.
You are dead sexy.
Shades inside.
Because somebody could send a picture.
thought you were working.
This is our boy from Beth365.
He's going to be up in Jasper, Pondah.
I mean, say, look, we've met before.
Don't you, don't you remember this?
That's what AI can do.
Isn't that crazy?
It is crazy.
Jack says to this stuff like 10 p.m.
And I'm like, what are you doing?
Just giggling.
He sends it.
And I'm like, what am I looking at?
He's like, it's you.
I'm like, well, yeah, apparently it is.
What's going on here?
You needed to make a deposit.
So there it is.
That's a withdrawal.
I'm taking the...
No, you're giving them all.
What?
Oh, come on.
You see my picks?
Let's go.
All jokes aside.
Big thanks about three, six, five, tons of fun.
Game on TV today.
Put a tuning down on the next goal.
I can spice it up a little.
All right.
You're not coming to Jasper.
You're a quitter.
You're not a team player.
Jack is.
He's not a quitter.
And he is a team player.
If Boom's not vomiting.

Is it just me, you and RJ at this point?
I'm not on trial right now.
I will talk about it tomorrow.
Shut up, Jack.
Is Sarah Valley making a trade or you can be.
I want to get rid.
Do you want to pick him up?
He's making the trade. I'll trade Moss for Rose.
So we could use a little grit.
No flame still Saturday.
We'll be back tomorrow.
It is Hawaiian T-shirt Day. Join us then.
Hopefully, boom's feeling better.
Thanks for hanging with us into all the sponsors.
Jack, don't be so down on the Steelers.
Okay.
10 points.
The chat's going crazy, Rhett.
We need a top five today.
Ret's top five.
It's been way too long.
Fire away.
Top five.
Top five things I've cooked this week.
You are hungry.
I knew you're going to food.
Beef barbacoa.
Beef barbacoa.
Yes, indeed.
Delicious.
What's the special?
Basically doing my own chip outlays.
Oh, yeah, that's good.
Yep.
Very, very good.
Boom wouldn't like this.
But the shovelers threw together a meatloaf,
and it was phenomenal, which,
sounds gross, but it's, I like it.
A good meatloaf is very nice.
Good meatloat.
What was the other thing I made the other day?
Number three.
Number three.
Doesn't it be complicated.
Maybe it's just a big bag of popcorn.
Well, we did.
My kid has officially become a popcorn an officionado,
and he rubs it into my old man's face every time.
He sends up a picture of his bowl of popcorn.
Cornaholic.
It's hard not to take a couple handfuls every time I walk by.
Okay.
Corn three, two.
Number d.
It's in my head.
Like I can see it in the fridge.
I made jambalaya last night.
And that's number one.
It was unbelievable.
Like phenomenal,
unbelievable.
And is it still rye January?
Did you make an old-fashioned?
No, I haven't made any drinks.
It's not really a food group.
Not really a food group.
Oh, I made meatballs.
Meatballs are always good.
What's a special ingredient?
Breadcrumbs.
Love.
Love.
This one has the most love in it.
They love your balls, Rhett.
They really do.
We'll see you tomorrow, buddies.
Thanks for being with us.
