Starting point is 00:00:00 And the way we go on a Wednesday. Happy Hump Day Retro. Jackie Boy. We're matching in Maroon today. Our are neary matching. And I believe, boys, we are in the January doldrums. Yep. Yep.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Flames don't play till tomorrow. See this boom guy's got it figured out. He's like, when do I feel the shit used? Get out of the hot. God. Get me out of here. Am I going to feel shirdy if I'm on the beach in Calabwe? No, you're going to feel great.
Starting point is 00:00:38 What doldrums? The beaches, coconuts, palm trees, bayeia. Bayeam? You know, back to his Surf Magazine cover days when he was the cover guy for Surf Magazine. He's back on the water at his happy place. How was your birthday yesterday? Oh, so eventful. Was he?
Starting point is 00:00:56 Yeah? So, so eventful. Boom did an incredible job in the video. We got a lot of run on socials, Jack, on the Rets keeping his cool and doesn't blow his top montage that seemed to go on for a long time. It did. One of the other things I found fascinating was how often I looked like Saitro Bob in some of those clips because they went way back to like the first season of this bloody show that we're halfway through season for him. A little bit gringy. Is that me?
Starting point is 00:01:27 Jesus. Oh, boy. I look like a civilian now. I literally look like that. There was still COVID events going on. Yeah, sane asylum at points in there. There was still COVID events going on. Man, uh,
Starting point is 00:01:39 welcome to it. It is Barnburner brought to you by our good friends at Bet 365. We've been poking around the app looking at some Super Bowl stuff. Looking at NHL futures. They've got the flames projected to finish, uh, tied third to the bottom. We don't mind them. That's kind of part of the plan. We missed a tankathon yesterday.
Starting point is 00:01:55 We'll do that. but you can always find anything. Flames, football, even probably horse racing in Saudi Arabia. It's a good group. Whatever you want. It's in there. Wide range of markets use up promo code nation. Join the show.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Lots to talk about today. Trade rumors are heating up, not around the flames, but some teams that we weren't sure what they were doing. Path becoming much clearer. If you want to weigh in, throw a financial donation. Any currency. Ret will accept Bitcoin, he says. Yep.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Do that in the live YouTube comments and we'll get you on at the end of the show. The Super Chat Money does go to the youth centers of Calgary. Great people through great work in our city impacting the lives of youth. Better than us. Way better. They had a good day yesterday. We just come in and clobber seventh defensemen and stuff like that. They're just, they're helping kids up.
Starting point is 00:02:44 I hope you're kind of wide swath at the poker event yesterday. So first off, huge congrats to the Calgary Flames on another wildly successful poker tournament. It's one of the great events that the NHL does. Some teams are trying to replicate this exact thing. And in some markets, other things are the big thing. But there is nothing better than the Flames Poker Turner. It is wonderful. Everyone.
Starting point is 00:03:10 I've gone to, well, I wouldn't say, go to most. Yeah. And everyone wants to know where Rhett was. They knew it was your birthday. And they're like, well, wouldn't this be the perfect place for Rhett to be in his birthday? With all you dusters? Oh, no. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:03:22 I saw the boys from Sammy's. They we. good parent teammates this year. Absolutely. I believe that's called a symbiotic relationship. Got a nice crew going there. Yeah. How was it?
Starting point is 00:03:35 It was great. I want to get to it, but I do have to tell you, we're coming to you live from the McLeod Law Studios. And here's the thing. You're like, lawyers, cool, but like when would I need one? Well, you don't know until you know. And when you know you need legal advice,
Starting point is 00:03:47 you best be getting to McLeodlaw, McLeod-Dashlaw.com. Look them up. Call them. Calgary people. They know things work in this. city and they get results. I saw Shane King last night. He's a beauty. He's the dispute resolution. Termination. When Jack gets gunned, we need to retain Shane. Otherwise, we're toast. He'll have us
Starting point is 00:04:07 paying for years. Over the barrel. Exactly. Shane was in great spirits. It was the cowboy formal dress last night. And I think we might have a McLeod law issue. We've got our own issue. See, these rebigel shirts. Dean was all worried about, did we go too far? Did we do this? Did we do that? I would understand if some in the organization, maybe it rubbed them the wrong way a little bit.
Starting point is 00:04:29 They know our schick, too. But what I didn't think we'd need was legal help with this. Oh, you're rotten bastard. This is not our website. Well, don't promote it. Jack, who are these turkeys stealing? That's literally our shirts. Some, like, teenage kid is.
Starting point is 00:04:50 What the hell, damn guy? Oh On sale Almost got They're undercutting out on price The quality is not going to Nationgear.C.A. for your Rebiggle shirts.
Starting point is 00:05:02 Jesus. We got to get Shane on the horn and sort this out. You know, they have red. They got the red one. Don't brag about it. Jack, you're promoting the enemy. You might need more legal advice at the end of the day here. Maybe we should just partner up.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Partner up, maybe. Send us some red shirts, please. I've got to get 24 of those I've got brick We don't need brick We need red Is this AI This kid actually throw this on
Starting point is 00:05:28 And take a picture The balls on these boys These teenagers Raking dough on the internet Stealing other people's ideas McLeod law Help us Is that a dog
Starting point is 00:05:38 Call the lawyers Yes That's right Okotok's dogs Oh no This is their BS T-shirt stealing website Get these turkeys off the screen jack
Starting point is 00:05:48 You've already promoted them too much Be careful No good. You can expect to hear from Shane King, Peter Klein, Austin, that whole gang. They're going to take. You're coming for you. You want to fight? We got the knockouts. We got the guys with the 28 and 0 by all by knockout guys on our side. All right. Don't mess of us. That's right. Lawyerly world. Prime Mike Tyson, 19 year old heavyweight champ Mike. Do you last the first round? Probably not. No, not unless you run. Even then, I don't know. Then you're disqualified. You can run it. I was watching street.
Starting point is 00:06:20 fights on the YouTube to the day. Not good. They show things that I was like, oh my God. His thumbs are in both of his eye sockets. Not comfy. He's tickling brain there. So Shane, expect a call from us today. We need some help on this.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Stealing our ideas. That's probably Jack and his buddies just trying to siphon. It's a meat up a shoe. I'm dying. I had a burger at a restaurant yesterday. I rarely do that. It's so good. I can't stop thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:06:49 It's one of those, like, song stuck in your head. The burger. That served it was also somebody that you wanted to go back to see. Professional. Like good service. Top quality.
Starting point is 00:06:58 New when you needed another napkin. Why don't I top this up for you? Really? Thank you. Yeah. That's a great idea. Good for you. Let's show the winner.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Congrats to Sean Kelso, the Flames VP of Communication. Is this an inside job, Brett? Look at this photo. I'm wondering here. He walks with the first place prize, and there is all the money raised. Do I even have
Starting point is 00:07:23 Kelso in you? I might have sense of the wrong photo. Well, congrats to the Flames. 645K. That's a big total. The city's feeling good. Yes. I contributed a significant portion of that
Starting point is 00:07:38 with Byans, like a moron. But hey, we had fun. And congrats to Candice in the middle, her final Flames Foundation poker tournament. Oh, Candito. She is one of the greats, and does an incredible job for the flames. And last night, I guess her,
Starting point is 00:07:54 her last lap, her farewell, wave to the wave goodbye. And she's been for decades funneling, I guess charitable donations into our city. Incredible work and a tip of the cap to her on her last poker tournament. I don't know if that must be
Starting point is 00:08:11 record breaking. It's got to be up there. I knew half million was a big deal a while ago, but now it seems like every year they're doing more than that. And congratulations. Got to see a bunch of the players, the staff. Everyone wants, where's right? The first one was my first year here, I think. 0-4?
Starting point is 00:08:27 No. It was just after. After the lockout. Yeah. And old Kenny King. Yep. Rest of peace, Ken. God love you, Kenny.
Starting point is 00:08:36 He had to pay for my cab because he took all my money, so. It's a decent trip. Did he get your jersey? It wasn't. It was so small back. Like, it was very small. It was almost friends and family kind of. Like sort of eight to ten.
Starting point is 00:08:50 tables kind yeah like they had it at the big four casino whatever that one down there was and you had to go in shifts and it was like this is and it was like wicked fast it's like the blinds just were like straight up um congrats to cal so i went to the final table and one of the guys from our table had got there which is great you love seeing someone from when there's 450 players someone from your table like that's your boy that's your horse uh that was good and i'm like jeez Kelso's got like an absolute war chest over there. Like he is Scrooge McDuck on a sitting in his pool of chips. Well, he is scrooge.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Uh, congrats to him. A little bit of bullying when he had the biggest stack of the table by a mile and he walks at the first place and really the bragging rights, the bragging rights. There'd be a lot of, yeah, the chest is. I wonder if he had to go to Minnie today or if he was. Uh, yeah, maybe he's got some vacation all of a sudden. He needs to burn. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I don't know that St. Paul is how you celebrate to make the win. Give it all back on the airplane. I saw a bunch of the players. We had John Beecher at our table. Really nice guy. Looks like he's trending towards returning after the Olympics. He, of course, got nicked up in that skirmish with Nickay, Nick.
Starting point is 00:10:08 And he was like, ah, my arm issue. But quieter guy, good guy, really liking Calgary. Obviously, a waiver claim from Boston, a former first rounder. And he was like, yeah, yeah. I don't know. I'm not much of a card player. And we're like, oh, this jersey's going to be off right away. And it's like, oh, yeah, look, he's going in. He's trying to get rid of his.
Starting point is 00:10:27 Win every time. Really? Hit on the river. The jersey was stuck on. He had the tie down on. But I think Cron was the first celebrity out. Oh, no. He went all in firsthand and lost his jersey.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Oh, no. Just right away. That might have been on purpose. You never know. Jay McNeil, president of the stampeters, great guy. He, that thing was stapled on for a whole. long time because most of the celebrities have lost that jersey by dinner. Not a concern for him.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Rolling with that Stamps jersey for a while. Great to see a lot of the dignitaries and sports celebrities from around the city. The alumni all running around. One notable omission. Just everyone wanted to know where Rhett was. Yeah. Thank God I wasn't there. You don't see.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I was in. Rough shape today? Rough. Yeah. Well, and you had a bit of a Tuesday. You didn't need to have, well, you had a bit of a Monday. You didn't need to have a Tuesday, I guess, is what I meant to say. I thought about popping over there because I didn't do it, fall.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Your boys were there. I had a great chat with Reggie. He's in great spirits. His kid's a volleyball player, the big one. Holy moly. Six, six. Multi-athlet. Yeah, he's huge.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Monster. And I think he might be heading back to his native roots for collegiate volleyball. That's what he mentioned. It would be pretty cool, a Sasker going back. You love it. Love to hear that. Great to see Reggie. I had a good chat with Backland.
Starting point is 00:11:48 I asked him, What till happened with him and whoever runs the Swedish Hockey Association? I hate you. What did you do? You, you know, shoot a firework into the Swedish Hockey Federation President's house one day or what? Did he have answers? He's like, I don't know, man. I'm like, well, we feel free.
Starting point is 00:12:04 You've had a great year. Well, thanks. We're still going to run you. Working our tail off. And I'm like, yeah. Even Boomer and Red have been positive about your, which means incredible season. You're not good enough to play this. How long is it, Jack?
Starting point is 00:12:18 We're 12 minutes in. That's how long we got. Oh, come on. Uighur was wondering where you were, Rhett, your boy. Disaster. Oh, I can't go down there. I'm in trouble. He's in good spirits.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Cooley had the vibes going. He's playing well right now. Lomburg was everyone's favorite. Curly's screwing us. There was a lady at our table. He's the saboteurary. He's ruining this tank. Cooley's been unreal.
Starting point is 00:12:43 There was a lady at our table, and I think it's like one of the flames of lums with like a cup ring. I can't remember who. like, what do you like a pitcher? She's like, no, no, no. I'm trying to line up for Lomburg here. Like, yeah. Everyone loves Lomburgineys.
Starting point is 00:12:57 The Lamborghini. Everyone's a big fan of that. So great night. Congrats to all involved in Ticelso. A little extra cash under the pillow. What would you do? What's the farthest you got in that tournament? Uh, I think, I don't know if I made final table.
Starting point is 00:13:16 The last couple tables for sure. That's when things are going. interesting. And then people get bullying and the blinds are just flying up at an alarming right here. Yeah. How big is the final table? I think it was eight to ten and then I think the top 10 get paid. I remember going to do a final table once, but I think it was a stampeters one. It wasn't the flames and it's the only, I only played in it once. And I was the big dummy. Like, I hadn't done the math on who was getting paid and who didn't. And I was like, I got to the final table and top eight got paid and I was like, you idiot. Just throw cards away for half an hour.
Starting point is 00:13:48 cold. Could have a thousand bucks or something. Damn it. You're fine. We'll be okay. We'll be all right. We've got this, you know, internationally renowned wildly successful podcast. So we can't be worried about some.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Rarely on the upswing eight years ago. Massive, massive. Big upswing. We got noodles today, I believe. Jackie. I hope so. You want to go on note? It's 10.30.
Starting point is 00:14:13 He texts me yesterday. So he's alive. That's good. And he's had some travel issues. We checked in last week. Oh, yeah. Just got into Nashville after what. a thousand planes and like he was everywhere three provinces eight states all over missed flights
Starting point is 00:14:25 crazy chaos it's cold and crazy in the states right now it is and like like i saw florids like polar vortex that's good for him took that trump um look at you changing it too uh the wherever the way the wind is blowing we're we're teasing uh the bottom 10 of the NHL if we want to flash been showing it for flames-based reasons. Do you have our guests? Want to bring him in first? We'll bring them in right with this. It's time to get to the guest hotline.
Starting point is 00:14:57 We do it for Crystal Waters. If you've got an issue at your house, certainly like when we talk about it, McLeod Law with legal stuff, like you don't have furnace issues until you have furnace issues. And it's not like, well, I'll get to that in June. It's like, no, it's January and Calgary.
Starting point is 00:15:09 I got to get this furnace fixed. And in the summer, maybe it's an AC issue, but you know you need something fixed right away. It's crystal clear calgary.com. Whether it's hot water tank, humidifier, air conditioner, our furnaces. They're good at the maintenance stuff
Starting point is 00:15:23 so that this doesn't sneak up on you and it doesn't happen. And if it does happen, they're also going to help you in a jam. Boom talks about it. The boys will be working in his garage, putting in the heater or whatever. And it's like, oh, we got a,
Starting point is 00:15:34 no heat situation. Cochran is like, watch a Batman and Robin circle the wagons and get out there to solve problems. Give them a call when you need any issues regarding, you know, the nerve center of your home. The brains of the operation.
Starting point is 00:15:49 That's right. The room that does all. all the making it livable in this climate. 403-219, 4,100, crystal clear gowdry.com. Jamie McClennan, Nudels from TSN, who all we get to see on TV these days is promos through your damn show. We're trying to watch football,
Starting point is 00:16:04 and it's just, and we're going to show you more about overdraft. Did you have more travel issues, or were you safe? I was good. I was on the panel last night. I would have been at home. I'm home all week until I'm in Pittsburgh, Sunday, Monday,
Starting point is 00:16:19 Raleigh on Tuesday and then into San Francisco on Wednesday. So busy. We got to set up how I'm going to be on the show next week because I got all hell's breaking loose. But I have to say something. Fire. I know somebody who's 50 years old. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:16:34 We had some fun with the Rettster yesterday. It was tough to find that we made a montage. It was really hard to find of him just exploding and having inflammatory comments. For some reason, it took like 15 minutes of the show. Wow. I've got some pictures that. Send him to Jack. That's great.
Starting point is 00:16:52 These are things that you can't. These are these are vaulted things. And what's funny is that those pictures were developed. Right. Someone's got to see the film. Somebody filmed that and then they developed them and then they put them on back on the digital print. Although I do have,
Starting point is 00:17:16 I have some videos. Josh Green dressed as the incredible Hulk attacking V.A.W. Bear. And that one is a video from multiple angles, too. That's an old timer. We've heard that one a few times.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Unreal. My buddy Mase who passed and my buddy Joey from L.A., their leg wrestling at Joey's in Evanton. On the side. They're doing that leg wrestle, your long legs. Yeah. That one I've got.
Starting point is 00:17:47 I've got, yeah, I've got a few. I've got me playing a guitar. I'm dressed as Dr. Spock and I'm playing brown-eyed girl and everybody around me singing and we're all dressed as superheroes. That's a pretty good one. You can bring that back, Noodles. You could bring that one back. So we were in Nashville for Halloween.
Starting point is 00:18:06 We got to get dressed up. We had someone pull off one of the greatest Mike Commodore impressions we've ever seen. It was great. You were in Nashville last week and we were kind of giving you the gears that you didn't go up. He said, no, no, no, no. Tonight's the night I'm going out in Nashville. So we need the update. How was Nashville last Wednesday?
Starting point is 00:18:20 Terrible because I didn't really go out. Oh, noodles. Very bad. Are we old? We're not. It is being old. It's old man. And I wanted to go sit at Legends and have a beer.
Starting point is 00:18:32 We got out. I don't know if you know, like, what happened that night. Like Ottawa was up 3-0. It was 5'3. It was just the damage thing. We had to do sports center hits after. We had all these things going on. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:18:45 cooked. Dragging my back. backpack back to hotel there's that storm that's coming so everybody's like clear it out it just was like the unfortunately the perfect storm of awful not the perfect storm of perfect so i wanted to go listen to music i went you know it was window shopping kind of like hey i'll pop in all the bars were pretty like kind of quiet i just said it was a sad sad sad i grabbed some food listening to a little bit of music and i went back but there was nothing of substance like i wanted to tell you this story. It was like Tootsies. I was out back on the second floor smoking.
Starting point is 00:19:22 There was nothing like that. Like the sadness that I have to report. And it's not because I'm 54 years old and I'm an old crumajun. I just, I just didn't have, there was nothing going on that night. And it was weird. There was a weird sense of like that game went on. And then everybody was like, oh, is the next game going to be canceled because the storm was coming? Are we going to get out? Like there was all hell was breaking loose. Our pet's heads were falling on. Yeah, fair. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:50 We had a fake business meeting set up Monday at 1 at Tin Palace, and Rhett was really dragging his feet and really wanted the no-show of this meeting, which is very out of character. It's usually so well organized and, you know, just a man with his organizer, never late, always on time. Yeah. He begrudgingly showed up, and it was 15 of his Lugan buddies that waiting with pitchers of beer.
Starting point is 00:20:12 It was a beautiful thing. 50 yesterday. He no-showed the Flames Poker Tournament. I feel like birthdays can be fun. We know your rules about gifts and stuff, but 50 probably hits a little different. Boom said 50's not a fun. 50 sucks. Well, it just, you know what it is? It's a strong number. It's a big number. You're a kid, like, when you're a kid, you're like, somebody who's 50 is like, oh, a fossil. Like, and you're like, that guy's 50. And then when you hit 50, you're like, oh, it's quite, But, you know, I, so I'm 54 coming 55 in June.
Starting point is 00:20:47 My daughter said to me the other day, she's like, the minute you hit 55, you're closer to 60, right? Like, you're like, that's me. I'm like, man, oh, man. So it is a big number. I felt like in my 30s and when we had so much fun, when 40, we had my 40th birthday. There was 12 of us that flew to New York City for it.
Starting point is 00:21:10 And it was great. We had, you know, boys' weekend, all hell broke loose. And then my 50th is like, man, oh, man. Like, you're like, ah, you know, we'll have a party. We did have a party. It was fine. But, like, that's a big number. Like, 50 is a big number.
Starting point is 00:21:25 50 is sit back and contemplate what the F you're up to. Well, and do you have your, do you have your affairs in order? Yeah. Okay. I got to go down to McLeod Law, make sure the will and all legal affairs are kind of tightened up here. It just, it's a big number. but I do say this, and I say this wholeheartedly. With technology, with the way people live their lives now, 50 is the new 40.
Starting point is 00:21:52 You know, it is, it is like that type of thing. Like, look at you. You're in good shape. You're better shape than you were at 50 than you were at 40, I think. Oh, 100%. The boomer did that clips yesterday. They did the montage, whatever it was. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:07 Even looking back to the two years, I was in Buffalo, I'm like, you, fat. Yeah. I was, you know, I was talking, actually talking to our buddy Dionne Finoff this morning. We're talking about, you know, staying in shape and, you know, not letting it go when we retire. And, you know, it's easy to like, oh, I didn't want to make it to the gym today or whatever. But I'm a pretty regimented person. I have to be or else I feel like garbage. Well, the older you get, the more regimented, I think. I have to.
Starting point is 00:22:37 I lock it. Even if I'm traveling, I get to the hotel gym. I just, I got to get a sweat. just so that I feel normal. You know what? We got to have Newfound for a summer show. We do. We have not had Neon Dion on, which would be great because he's not a guy that's done a ton of media stuff since he exited, but God, he was a big personality when he was.
Starting point is 00:22:58 He's not like, you know, it's interesting. I joke about my friends, you know, Chad from Nickelback and Dion, they're polarizing people, right? But like once you know, like public perception and private perceptions sometimes match perfectly. Jerome McGillard's case in point. Sure. Jerome is, you know, beloved, all of that, great person. When you have certain people that are polarizing, you have differing opinions. Like I played with Dion.
Starting point is 00:23:30 We've been good friends. There's differing opinions. Obviously he was a captain of Toronto Maple Leafs polarizing out here because the team wasn't very successful. But when you look like behind them. the scenes. He's a great guy. He's very funny, very quick wit. He's extremely generous. And he was by the end of his career, a great leader. And like, you talk to all of his teammates. They were like, love the guy, love the guy. So it's just interesting. You know, it's the public perception,
Starting point is 00:23:56 private perception sometimes doesn't match. Right. But Dion is, he's still connected to the game, lives in, in L.A. and with the Kings. Yeah, working with a, what is it, A.E.G. the ancient group or whatever it called. And he's big up on the sales and business side, isn't it? Yeah, I think it's business development. I don't know the title. People always ask me, what does that person do? I have no idea what people do.
Starting point is 00:24:22 I don't know. He had a group curling out here a couple of years ago, and I got to catch up with him, and I hadn't seen him for eons, like since we were at the world show. I'm going to segue with that comment. So, like, what do people do? What the F does Craig Barubi do with these donkeys out there? First of all, I can't look at him.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Get the man at home. Oh, I know. Like, it is jarring, jarring to see that. My son, who is eight, loves the movie Home Alone. And he goes, Daddy, he looks like Harry. He's a iron across his face. And I was like, oh, my God. So we pulled up a picture of Harry and we were laughing about it. She looks like, I can't even explain it.
Starting point is 00:25:07 We, here, there's a. Yeah, that's not far off. Yeah, a little higher and sure. But it's like, it's so jarring to, can you imagine, Chief, the way he played, like, tough as nails. And you're putting in a half-ass effort and you've got to skate back to the bench and look at that. And he's got like an axe wound right across head. It looks like an axe wound. We all, you know, the gym wound.
Starting point is 00:25:34 I've heard the story. It's awful. like normal humans should be not living or you know way more damage than what chief did and but like he's back there and i think now you're in a situation where they're eight points back 29 games left got a bunch of teams to jump and you just had a lifeless 04 and one five game homestan you know with the marner salt in the wound and against big teams that you should get up for yeah and now you've got a star player flipping the bird at a camera. Like, I can't imagine how your head throbbing would feel with like 80 stitches
Starting point is 00:26:14 or whatever the hell it is. And then you got to coach that team and that market in this season during this skid. Like it is, it's concerning on a lot of different levels because my question is, how did they get out of it? Yeah. Get out of it. Okay, like Austin Matthews scores goals. He's scoring goals.
Starting point is 00:26:32 He's now, yeah. They're scoring goals. Guys got 25 goals. Like it's, it's, Matthew's, gets a goal and assist yesterday. They can't keep the puck out of their net. Their D aren't good enough. The goaltending has been, you know, suspect recently.
Starting point is 00:26:45 And it, like, it just, that team, the one formula, and I don't know, you probably, you guys probably haven't watched them close enough. The one formula they struggle with is speed. Buffalo, I talked to coach the other day that said Buffalo is one of the fastest teams in the league. But could Kevin Adams get up for GM of the year? That's what somebody was saying.
Starting point is 00:27:05 I'm telling you, that Don deal looks unbelievable. And J.C. Petrca is probably a great player. But, like, one for one, those to pick one, it's probably close. Don's, you know, really ascending. And then Kessel rings in there and it's like, that's a good D-Man. That helps your top four. But, like, you know, there's been moves along the way, Paturka, Dylan Cousins, who's a 24-year-old six-foot-four centerman.
Starting point is 00:27:29 Yeah. And he's had a good year for Ottawa. But you look at it, like Dahlene's a, he's a player, man. He's a player. Hattrick last night, I think. What's that? Hattrick last night. Got the Hattrick, got five points, but it just, like, he's a clear cut number one
Starting point is 00:27:46 defenseman. They've got a goal, they've got goaltending there. So they've got UPL who left the game, got hurt. They've got this kid, Colton Ellis, who's young, but he's up and coming. They got Levi, I don't know what he's going to be yet. They've got Alex Lyon, like. He's playing on real. Adams is put together some depth there.
Starting point is 00:28:05 Where it's, Yarmo comes in and goes, yeah, the first thing Yarmos said at his, at his press conference was like, I think this team's a playoff team. Yeah. They're 19, two and one in their last 22, something insane like that. Now, I didn't think they were this good. So there's somewhere in the middle, but they're still a very good team that I think people have been waiting for that team and that organization to put it together. they have and and they like that Thompson's a player how do you associate firing Adams who put it together and I was critical of it and it did not look good like when they came through here early December they were three or four games under 500 and it was like who I was on the broadcast with razor and
Starting point is 00:28:57 boys I said I was like have hope it's coming it's going to turn eventually I did not think it was turning the next game. You kind of believed it. Right? Like, and they've been at it for 14 freaking years. It should look good.
Starting point is 00:29:11 There should be pieces there. It just didn't feel like it was ever. And I don't know how you can fire a GM that has that much impact. And maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was coming anyway. And he got shit canned and it was circumstantial. But it sure feels like the firing of a GM and everyone.
Starting point is 00:29:30 Yeah. Like this wasn't a firing because he, was urban miring it at the bar, you know. Oh, you know, like it wasn't a firing because of any. Like, I don't, I remember at the start of this year going, when they were struggling, I'm like, is Lindy Ruff the right coach for that young group? Is, you know, is Kevin Adams, what is he done? You know, you just, but now looking back, and again, not trying to be overly critical,
Starting point is 00:29:57 but like, Fugula's press conference when the bills went out was not very good. Very weird. And then the guy they hired is also weird. It's like we've got to turn the page, but we're going to stick with the guy. Turn the page and you're bringing the band back. Running the page, but bringing the offensive coordinator. You already had that guy.
Starting point is 00:30:15 Why don't you? So what I'm saying, I guess, and I couldn't speak to this. Razor probably could. And I heard, you know, before the chaos with me with Razor, when you guys had him on the pod, he was, I think he was quite complimentary of Pagula and how much he's done for the city. And I do receive.
Starting point is 00:30:33 respect that. That's lost in all of this. A guy can have a bad press conference. I think Terry Pugula cares. I think he's done a lot for the city of Buffalo. I think he's pumped a lot of money into those organizations. So good on him. Guys a billionaire. Do whatever you want. It wasn't a great look, but that's where I keep coming back to it. Sorry, I should have put it out new. I keep coming back to is what you know is it pagula that's just shooting from the hip when it comes to kevin adams this was this long time coming when he hired kekolanen you know was that just the end beginning of the end like somewhere along the line he made the decisions like the manager's got to go or yarmo was like i'm ready to take over now that i know the team i don't know yarmo but i know
Starting point is 00:31:22 burge and you know burge yes is a guy like burge i don't known as a GM. I know him as a player and how much fun. I know I'm talking to Mark Bergerna, who's now that we're saying. He's got personality. He makes the game fun. He's I actually am wondering if that's what's having
Starting point is 00:31:40 an impact. I don't know how much interaction he's having on a day-to-day basis, but it feels like the kind of guy, just knowing his personality, maybe it's different because he's in the GMing role, but that's a guy that can go into a dressing room and make people laugh and enjoy
Starting point is 00:31:56 coming to the rink. The team looked like they didn't want to be at the rank the last 10 years. Now it's like these guys love going to the ring. But they love it. It's funny because, you know, I have a friend of a friend who's on the team. And he said last year, you're right. Type of thing that's like, you know, we know, we're a good team, but we can't, you know, we're not there yet.
Starting point is 00:32:14 Like you're trying, you're trying. You look at them, they look confident. They look like they're having fun. And they look like whether there's been a culture shift or a weight that's lifted off their back, they look like they know that they can be in every game. That's the thing. Watching them, like, they got down yesterday's game, come right back and score. You know, like they just, and I think it's their leaders. They're like, okay, we can play. Like, Thompson's a player. Yes. Colleen's a player. They're top tier players. And for some reason,
Starting point is 00:32:47 I've read, how many times have I said this to you? That's a really good team on paper, which was weird. They just never were a good team on the ice, but on. paper, I was like, that team should be better than they are. And this is, go ahead. Sorry. Finish your thought on Buffalo. No, I'm just saying. And something has clicked.
Starting point is 00:33:05 It might have been a culture shift. It might have just been like Lindy said, go play. I need you to work hard, but I need you to, you know, go play. Relax and go play. Burjee, they brought in, I believe, Stacey Roost from Tampa, you know, Rooster and I go back to Minnesota, like some smart hockey guys. and I think you build the organization out. Buffalo's got something good there, I'm telling you,
Starting point is 00:33:29 and I'm happy for it. You want to go to a fun playoff game? Be in Buffalo. Forget it. 14 years. So I'm excited. Yes, it will be a, that's must watch TV. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Or if you can be there, even better. Yeah, we're joking, like, that's the trip to make if we're doing a sports trip. Go watch the Sabres in the playoffs on home ice, like, in the play. What? We didn't think that was. I think you guys there. Watch them, go catch a Jay's game, stop in at Noodlers,
Starting point is 00:34:00 have a dip in the pool. Perfect. But you didn't answer us about the Leafs. Yeah. So just to get there, here's the Atlantic of the East. We've got the standings. I cropped out the devils and caps who are at the bottom.
Starting point is 00:34:12 But, I mean, the bottom is not far. There's a lot of muck just hanging around the wild card and out. The Metro looks soft. And the Atlantic, we've seen this massive turnover. Like, there's Detroit in home ice spot.
Starting point is 00:34:24 There's Buffalo right behind them with two games in hand. We've seen those teams massively improved. Montreal is a much better team than they were. Boston's remained relevant. We see Barkov skating with Florida, with some of the injured guys. Looks like he's closer not to coming back than we would have thought at this point of the season.
Starting point is 00:34:41 And there at the very bottom are the Leafs and the Sends at two teams that met in the first round last year. And for the Leafs, it looks like they got old and slow quick. And for the Sends, they can't stop a puck. but like a lot of buzz on the leafs, they're above the senators here, noodles. Well, the thing is, when you ask me,
Starting point is 00:35:01 with Ottawa, I can circle one thing. If you take care of this, this will happen because analytically, you know, Pinder, you know this. Like they're,
Starting point is 00:35:13 whatever site you go to, whether it's Monipok or logic, whatever, like Ottawa's expected goals for and expected goals against. Like they're near the top. of the league. Like they were analytically a top tier team. They just can't get a save consistently at the right time. Unfortunately, with the leaves, the fix isn't one particular compartment where
Starting point is 00:35:36 you go, you fix that and we got, we're on to something. What's happened is they've had nine years of stress-free regular seasons. 100 plus points every year, yeah. A hundred point team, playoff team that you know this fan base is like wake me up in april to see if they can do something and you know they've won two playoff rounds in 10 years or in 17 years whatever it is but i'm talking the 10 years of matthews and all of that and now the fan base this is this is uncharted territory for them or it's muscle memory going back to the phil and d on days or even before that to when it was scorched dirt and i think what's happened is the fan base, they're not used to that. You're going, you know, this team, whether you believe it or not,
Starting point is 00:36:25 was going to be in that battle that I think they're going to fight for a playoff spot all season long, whether they get it or not, doesn't look good right now. But this is on chartered territory for that group in the dressing room as well. Because for two weeks out of the year, and it happens to be unfortunately the same two weeks in April, they've had to deal with craziness. Now it's every day. because in the regular season, the Leafs, and there's other teams in the league, we could call them regular season heroes. It's, you know, hey, Matthews chasing 70. It's Willie's having Mitch Marner chasing 100 points. It's this goal he's playing well.
Starting point is 00:37:05 All-Star game for that. And it's just been very easy. Nothing's been easy for them this year. And you see right now, the 0-4 and 1 in this last five games in the homestand, and they were coming off an 8-0-2 stretch, they put themselves back into the mix. Yeah, just to give it right back. Just to give themselves an opportunity. And now Buffalo and regulation goes into their building and kicks their ass.
Starting point is 00:37:31 After a big meeting. After they have a meeting with the coach, they've had a player that's hand in the finger out. They've got like, it's just storyline. I think my host, Brian Hayes said it. It said it well. He goes, it's not one thing, but it's death by a thousand cuts right. now. Everywhere you turn, there's just a little slice of, oh, this guy and that guy, and it's really frustrating. Well, they're not good in net, or they've got subpar goaltending.
Starting point is 00:38:01 Yes. I think those goalies are good, but they're not playing well in it. Yeah, so that's not working. Their defense is. That's their Achilles heel. Troy Stetcher off of waivers. I mean, and everybody loves Troy Stetcher. We love them, but eventually you wake up and you go, that's. Troy Stetcher, this six, seven. Big minutes. You know, and he should be at the 8 to 12, 8 to 10, and they're having to play him higher in the lineup
Starting point is 00:38:30 because you've got any injury to TANF, and you've got, you know, everyone else not playing well. Is this a take pause moment for Tree? Or is this a, I've seen enough? I don't like the makeup. I need to make. I don't know. The only problem, Red, is,
Starting point is 00:38:49 what's the currency you have? have. I think they're post-Apex this team, if that's a weird thing to say, I really do. When you look at their lineup and how it's constructed and where they've faltered and where they've failed and how they and how much they need
Starting point is 00:39:04 to get elite again, like I don't look at that team and go, that's elite. I think there's some elite players, but it's like you're saying, Hazy makes the fact that Neelander's giving the camera, the finger is not a big deal in my life other than you're
Starting point is 00:39:20 a childish idiot and I can't like you're like what kind of moron are you like what do you like what are you doing? I know I got some number of snoodles that'll because you guys are right there's holes everywhere but the one place it's and you've called yourself Willie on your post or whatever
Starting point is 00:39:36 you sound like fucking two year old grow up geez Willie lot again clip that Instagram I'm sorry I didn't mean to oh you love Willie kiss my weird it's just a weird we've got some defensive stats from them those i want you to look at this so
Starting point is 00:39:55 this is uh mike kelly from the n hl that does some advanced up this is their defending this is not their offense this is their defense they are last in shots against they are last in slot shots allowed they are last in rush chances allowed they are second last in chances off the cycle they are third from the bottom fourth from the bottom excuse me unexpected goals against which means the environment's a nightmare for a goal you're getting way too many high caliber chances as all the stats above that. And then actual goals allowed their third from the bottom. Like, whatever their holes are in the four group, the D group, or the goalies not being as good as they could be, it's all showing up in these defensive metrics. They are a shitty defensive team. Yes. And
Starting point is 00:40:34 if you watched, you'd pick a, pick a team, but pick a night, I'll pick last night. Buffalo's speed, they couldn't handle. There was the four check, they would turn it over. Buffalo scored four goals in the first period. One was called back on an offside that was a minute later. No, what a good. Don't get me started on like, you know, offside and then two minutes in the zone and then they score and they got to, they got to reset the clock. But that's what happened. Buffalo, any team before checks fast and hard, they have trouble with because their D are slow. Like they're, and they're not, they don't have guys. Now, Stetcher's can skate. They've got guys who can skate and move the puck, but they don't have
Starting point is 00:41:21 today's game, you need to be able to get out of your zone and you need puck movers. You need somebody that doesn't panic under pressure, makes a play. Their best defenseman that I'm describing out of all that is Oliver Ekman-Larsen.
Starting point is 00:41:37 He's 35 years old, 34, and a warrior played every game this year, even though he's left a few games with injury, he just seems to show up the next game. but he was a 5-6 on a cup winner. They're asking him to be a 4, maybe higher in the lineup. And it's not constructed right, whether it's due to injuries or not.
Starting point is 00:42:01 It feels like a team that had some very high-end elite talent, and they tried to fill the holes with the gum, you know what I mean? The leaks, and they tried to spot TANF in there. We all love TANF, but this is exactly what everyone expected to happen to TANF. in a bad way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:20 I feel terrible for it because, like I said, everyone loves Tanner. Everyone. Everybody. This is what you were kind of expecting at the end of the day. Tanna's going to get hurt. You can't really rely on it. I think they've, I just don't know how there's construction. I don't know what kind of capital they have.
Starting point is 00:42:37 And what, you know, you look at that sport logic thing. You're like four and a half percent. Yeah. Chances of playoffs. That's real low. Well, it just, to me, there's just so much, like you say, there's not like, there are two points ahead of Ottawa.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Ottawa's got a game in hand, but Ottawa's playing Colorado tonight. But my point being, they're both out of the playoffs. They're both out of playoffs, Ottawa by 10 points, the Leafs by 8. Ottawa,
Starting point is 00:43:05 I can look at that roster and go, give the one thing. And that might change the trickle down. Is there one player, if I walked in, to the Leafs dress? Is there one player that would go, oh, it's just going to change everything? I think it's weird for me to say.
Starting point is 00:43:28 Rasmus Anderson would have been a guy that I think could have helped the balance of power back there. Because he can advance the puck. He can quarterback the power play. You know, he's got some bite to his game, some attitude to his game. All of a sudden, he can play with Morgan Riley or Jake McCabe. And now a sudden you don't have Brandon Carlo there. who doesn't make a real clean first pass. Raspis does.
Starting point is 00:43:52 So, again, maybe one player like that could help the balance of power where Troy Stetcher doesn't have to be that guy. He can play as a five-skirts. You know, that's the, I look at it. Again, I know you guys hate talking about Edmonton, but Evanton made one trade a couple years ago that helped the balance of power of their D, and it was at call. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:13 Best deal Kenny made, yeah. Right, because it was, it took nurse out of that, and it goes, we're going to put echo in here we're going to slot nurse down we're going to we're going to have somebody to play with bouchard to settle him down like there was a there was a ripple effect throughout that organization with one move that was slotted properly and and i think that's where if you're asking me like these organizations i don't think there's a quick fix but if there might be a play now again you don't have the currency to get rasmus that's just it that's what
Starting point is 00:44:46 i was just going to say it was like i i you know Even if you were able to get Rasmus Anderson, and even if Rasmus came in and did that, I don't know that it takes you from where you are. Right. To the top of the food chain. I think it helps you get to the playoffs. What it does is maybe, like right now I call the leaves,
Starting point is 00:45:03 and just like Calgary was in the last couple years in that muddy middle. Yes. Do you want to be in the muddy middle? Or do you take a look? Right here, the narrative right here in Toronto is, The template could be the Boston Bruins. Last year, reset.
Starting point is 00:45:22 They had a goalie that showed up late for camp on a contract squabble, never really got going. Hampus Lindholm, in the top-paring defenseman, hurt right from the get-goat, shut down. Charlie McAvoy gets hurt. Shut them down. They realized, I remember being in Boston. It was about this time last year.
Starting point is 00:45:43 And Cam Neely was doing a presser, and we were there, you know, media. Scrubs hanging around. And Neely said the next week of our season, we're going to decide whether we are buyers or sellers at the deadline. He said our next three to four games are going to dictate. It dictated and they sold. They shut everybody down.
Starting point is 00:46:05 Lynn Holm didn't, you know, fit in early on. It took him a bit to settle in. Now he looks comfortable, right? But they just, they had so many things that didn't go right. So they made that decision. This year is not our year. We're going to reset and, you know, we're going to sell off some assets. Yep.
Starting point is 00:46:22 And we're going to retool and go right back at it. And they were able to, with what they have to go right back at it again this year. Toronto might have to do that. Yeah. And so I think we all agree. They don't have the capital to make a splash, to make one move that you're like. And one move, I don't think, fix it. And so we're taking that off the board.
Starting point is 00:46:42 And this is where things get really interesting. For a team that's got a hollowed system that does not hold their own first rounder, Right. It's also like you can't really tank and go get a stud here. It's top five protected, but they moved their first to Boston in the deal for Carlo, which is looking like a very, very steep price to pay for a guy who's probably a five, six if he's slotted best. And so now what do you do? Getting into that bottom five is not that simple. You got some teams that are bad and that have already started selling your Vancouver's Calgary's. St. Louis is going to be there if they're not. The Rangers are sent out a press release? Like this is a really like are they cooked or is there a way that you could even look a year or two out and say they're back. Like I just see old, hard to move contracts and no capital to get young players in. It's weird to say because it is a couple years out, but you almost have to be like Vancouver and go to your top player because Matthews is a couple years away from a contract and go, what's your intention?
Starting point is 00:47:36 What do you want here? Yes. Be a lifer or, you know, again, I don't want to be radioed. I joke because I don't want a headline saying, McClellan says this or whatever, but it might It has to be a realistic conversation as to what is the plan moving forward. John Tavares has three more years on his deal. He's not going anywhere. He's 35 years old, 36.
Starting point is 00:48:00 Like, you know, maybe you look at Morgan Riley and you go, whether you like it or not, we're going to, you know, try and move away from you. It makes eight, I think seven something. Still a good player, but it's, it's. He'd be a great asset if you're willing to move him to it. see there's a lot of teams that would love to have. They've got two decisions on UFAs. Got Lotton, who they give a first rounder for.
Starting point is 00:48:24 Another first. And then the Bobby McMahon, who is a nice Alberta guy, Wayne Wrights, good player. The minister guy who they found. And they, you know, he's become, but they found him and he's on a cheap deal. His next deal, he's a 20 plus goal score.
Starting point is 00:48:41 His next deal might start with a five. Do you want to commit to, you know, that? Are you going to move him at this stand? line and start trying to recoup some of the stuff that's gone out the door. These are decisions that have to be made. Here's the other thing I'll throw on the table. Keith Pelly took over this organization.
Starting point is 00:49:00 It was Brendan Shanahan. Now they've got a president of MLSC. They don't have a president of, you know, the Leafs. So it's Pelly. Is Pellie saying to Brad Tree Living, you have the keys to the castle? Or are you saying, we're going to. going to reevaluate everything at the end of this season. And if that's the case, are you allowing the people in place right now to make the
Starting point is 00:49:27 organization future decisions? So that's the other. If Tree's your guy, which is, you know, we all love Tree. I know Tree very well. He's a good friend of mine. If Key Pelley has a vote of confidence, then you go to Tree and say, execute a plan, moving forward, you've got to figure out Matthews' his intentions, you know, what are you going to do with William Milander who's got eight years or seven years left and, you know, these are
Starting point is 00:49:51 good players. But at the end of the day, if you're having a retool, do they have the stomach for it? Are you the guy that's going to do it? Like, there's lots of questions to be answered before we even have these conversations. Yeah, must win games in January, regular seasons that have been stress free. And now all of a sudden, a new president whose bottom line was very clear at his opening press conference. It's about banners. They haven't been further from a banner in the last decade than there right now. Yes, that's a fair, fair point because I
Starting point is 00:50:22 can't remember it. Like this team and I'm probably going to pose that out on my show today. How many days has this team been in the playoffs? Just on paper as opposed to out of the playoffs this year. I guarantee you it's a lot more out of the playoffs
Starting point is 00:50:38 than in the place. Yeah. Which is uncharted territory for this whole group. It's an interesting thing because Winnipeg's at the bottom the league right now too. I think they're going to make the playoffs. I do too. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:50:52 I think they're going to get rolling. I just wondered if that was another situation where sometimes, you know, if you can push pause and go, okay, well, this isn't our year. Things haven't gone. Well, let's get a top five pick. Like that's there, but you have assets that you want to build off. I don't see them in the same as Toronto. But I look at Winnipeg and I could say, if you could find me a second line centerman,
Starting point is 00:51:14 I think, you know, the balance of power. hour would look because they can't wait no no what i'm saying like i had this question posed to me yesterday on sports center leaves are six points out winnipeg was eight now it's actually swapped winnipeg is now six and and the leaves are out which team could make the playoffs i said winnipeg and i said it's on two different things their top players are having good seasons if you look at you look at you know valari's sports 20 yeah like all those guys are playing well Okay. The teams above Winnipeg are teams that are,
Starting point is 00:51:51 I believe, have to make decisions with their future. So, you know, L.A., Seattle, Seattle, they're like, the teams above Winnipeg, I felt, I think Calgary at that point was above them. Are they? Yeah, they have been.
Starting point is 00:52:08 So the teams are like easier to catch. If you're the leaves, you're looking at, and you're, Florida's getting healthy. You know, you're chasing. Now,
Starting point is 00:52:20 I didn't see Pittsburgh as a playoff team all of a sudden. Pittsburgh looks like they're, you know, they're going to be a space of a spot. So climbing the teams for the leaves were going to be harder
Starting point is 00:52:30 in my opinion than climbing for the Winnipeg Jets. Yeah, I'd agree. We've kept me too long, but it's fascinating times in Toronto for sure. And man, like that market's hot
Starting point is 00:52:42 when there isn't really that much to talk about. These are wild times. Must win games in January. I'm sure you guys have no shortage of topics on your show out there. I don't even know how our show is going to start. I don't even know. Because I said I was working with O'Dog last night on the panel, and I just said,
Starting point is 00:53:00 we might have to just turn our mics on and let Hayes go for 15 minutes. Yeah, yeah. He used to do our four-hour show by himself. I might want to just give him the run way. I'll have a minute. Hayes has the best pulse of Leafs Nation. Like he grew up there, he's Leifes fan. Like he has the best pulse of like the fan base.
Starting point is 00:53:21 Sure. So I'm going to go, you speak for the fan base. I don't. I can't. Yeah. So we'll see how it goes. Thanks as always. Old guys, not even going out in Nashville.
Starting point is 00:53:34 This guy's... I'm heartbroken that I did that to you guys, but I will rebound. You will hear a story about me eventually. And say something nice about Sean Calso. He just won the poker tournament last night. What? Scam. Really?
Starting point is 00:53:49 He had a massive stack of chips and he knew exactly how to use them. He was great. I'm going to send him a text, but yes. Who doesn't love Kelse? We all love Kelse. I love Kelse. So I was going to say something derogatory, but I'm not going to. All of a sudden you try to get on his private jet to Cabo or something.
Starting point is 00:54:09 All right. I love Kelce, though. Kelse has always been good to me. He's a dear friend. We love you, noodles. Thank you. Appreciate it. See you guys.
Starting point is 00:54:16 Okay. There's Jamie McClellan from Overdrive on TSN, the Sends Color guy, a beloved teammate, someone that put Rhett Warner on their Nashville Mount Rushmore. And one of the great guys in the game, period stuff. On the Crystal Waters guest hotline, reminder,
Starting point is 00:54:32 Barnburner customers, maybe drop a little. A barn burner, Barnburner. You mentioned that. Maybe some deals for you. It's interesting. You start looking at the bottom of this,
Starting point is 00:54:44 of this you don't want Vancouver you're talking about pick it first overall or who you think so I'm just saying that there are teams that are out of the playoffs
Starting point is 00:54:53 Washington, Jersey yeah good teams Toronto's supposed to be a playoff team Ottawa was supposed to be LA and the West
Starting point is 00:55:02 is right like Winnipeg is bottom five yeah yeah what rock like I would pick Winnipeg
Starting point is 00:55:11 what I'm trying to say is who would What roster would you want? Like I like Washington because I like the goaltenders. I like Winnipeg because I like the goaltenders. I think Washington's got some young kids that play well. I think Winnipeg got pretty good depth up front. If Toronto misses and they might and probably will by the looks of it.
Starting point is 00:55:34 That's not a roster I want to have to work with. No, because it's like, what do I do with guys that are making a bunch of money and it looks like they've lost a step and they're old. And I've got no. There's no kids coming. I don't have first rounds. No. Like, I don't have any depth of asset. There's no prospect pool there that's going to save your bacon.
Starting point is 00:55:54 Maybe a couple kids. That's it. So peak pain for Toronto. I looked at this. If they finish six from the bottom, that wouldn't be crazy. They're kind of in that neighborhood points-wise. Top five pick, they get to keep it. So they're postponing some pain for a while.
Starting point is 00:56:09 If they finish six from the bottom, Boston will get a sixth overall pick of theirs. They will not have their own first. and they will be like, what do I do here? And maybe they can go Dubeson, Pittsburgh and somehow pull a rabbit out of their hat for next year. But it just looks like a really, really tough knot right now. I don't know how you fix it. They're old.
Starting point is 00:56:29 The decor is too slow. You don't have injury prone. You don't have holes all over. Yeah, you don't have assets. You don't have first round picks. You don't have. Yeah. You've sold all of your capital to compile this.
Starting point is 00:56:41 And to get guys that we're kind of. And have enough, the bravery to trade a Morgan, well, you're, what do you, is that going to get you enough in return that you're going to quickly turn it around and rebuild it? I don't think you're getting a first. Right? Like, I don't know. Joseph Wall, you want them? I like their goalies and they're cheap, so they probably keep them, but they're not stars. They aren't stars.
Starting point is 00:57:05 Yeah. Like stars and wall. Henry run, don't know him. John Tavares. Johnny's had a good year, but not a career. Not a problem. I don't. I mean,
Starting point is 00:57:15 Chris Tann of, feel bad. Stollars, again, that's like, yeah, stature? God,
Starting point is 00:57:21 Nick Waugh. He said the two names that, you know, like Riley's, because of the age and the play is a little more tricky, but like Bobby McMahon's going to get paid right away.
Starting point is 00:57:31 That's a guy that could turn into probably a first given that he's, his age, his trajectory, and can you spin around Scott Lawton for her first? Nope,
Starting point is 00:57:40 but you gave one up for him last year. But you certainly can't spin out Brandon Carlo for a first. You gave a prospect and a first up for him. Like those two deals last year, two firsts, three prospects to get a third pair D and a guy that's played fourth line center since he got there. And he's not a bad player, but who happens quick. I don't know if I feel bad or I love it. Yeah, we, it's great storyline.
Starting point is 00:58:06 There's a lot of a tough spot that trees in. And to be fair, like, it's a lot of the movies he made in the last 12 months that have got him here. And so can he get out of it? We didn't think Pittsburgh could. They have this looks pretty ominous. Thank you to Crystal Waters. It was always great. And the Leafs are in trouble.
Starting point is 00:58:25 We're okay with that, which is also great. Yeah. It's one of those franchises that not a lot of sympathy for. Imagine having to go to Austin Matthews and be like, yo, things aren't good. Like, you still keen to be here? Because, like, we can extend you next summer. or is that
Starting point is 00:58:46 he's like he's like from Austin Matthews so or is he's he's continued to stay there he keeps signing deals there
Starting point is 00:58:52 but they've always been to his what he was well and it's always been lots of money hundred point regular seasons he loves playing with Mitch
Starting point is 00:58:59 all of a sudden they're not good his best buddy's not there anymore and he's looking at what we're looking at like how do we turn this around
Starting point is 00:59:07 yeah this isn't like everyone getting two years old or isn't going to help me when I'm a free agent yeah I feel feel like Tree if he was
Starting point is 00:59:14 smart. He would very much try and recoup as much as he can. Tough spot. They're screwed. I don't, they miss their boat. I don't follow those websites or those but like four and a half percent.
Starting point is 00:59:30 Yeah. Now those swing wildly. So many teams and look, if they win five in a row, they might be up to, you know, a coin toss or a one in three chance. But it's just way too early for must win games on
Starting point is 00:59:43 the team that's injury prone, hurt, not playing well. And not supposed to be fighting for a playoff spot. It's supposed to be fighting for a whole mice. It should be safe or not. Here's Chris Johnston from the athletic and TSN as well. 115 points last year. They'd have to win every single game to get to 150 points. That's the 2021 season.
Starting point is 01:00:03 And that was kind of that rhythm that they were in. They were 105 to 115 points every year. It felt like now it's like you've got to run the table to get to that total. No one's running the table. No, it's ridiculous. 500 seems hard for this group. Who, big decisions ahead. Let's get into a Pinda report.
Starting point is 01:00:25 We do that for Village Honda. Get some video at the end reminding you that winters can be a little crazy. Very crazy in Calgary. The winter ready SUV event is on four by fours, all-wheel drives, vehicles to get you through our schizophrenic winners here in Western Canada.
Starting point is 01:00:41 Check out of their inventory, village Honda.com or go to the Northwest Automal. We start with Flames. Andrew Basha, you said you saw him play last. I was watching. How'd you look? My old, my alumni, junior alumni, the blades were in Madison Hat, so I turned it on.
Starting point is 01:00:54 How are the blades this year? Middle of the road. Okay. Middle of the road. And the, uh, Bashes were very good before they got Basha back. And he, I think, probably wanted to have a breakout season in the HL, wasn't getting a ton of reps. Okay, don't worry about it.
Starting point is 01:01:09 Go back to junior, play a ton, dominate. He's doing that. More on Flames Nation on that topic. Good to see. As for the Ranglers, where it's been tough to get playing time, a couple of flames could be there over the Olympic break. Find out more in the article,
Starting point is 01:01:25 but Zainprek can't go back for the Olympic break. Yenkuznetso can't. But Gridden and Bristewicz, you probably want them there playing big minutes, don't you? Or do you want them on a beach for 10 days? Griden for sure, because Grin, I don't know, I feel like Bristavich has stepped in and looks for... He's been really good.
Starting point is 01:01:47 I want him to feel part of the team, too. Like, it's not just... and I don't know what three or four more games in the HL is going to do. Fair point. Maybe even Gridden. I just haven't followed him enough and I feel like a forward
Starting point is 01:02:00 who wants to be a goal score is a little different than a defenseman that's playing solid minutes for you kind of pretty consistently. You're almost sending him the message he's not a part of the TV we send him back in a weird way. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:12 Like that's what you're alluding to it. A little bit. Whereas Gridden, it's like, dude, this is your first pro year, you're 19, you're lighten up the A, stay hot, score a ton of goals. You'll be right back up when this is done. And he just came up.
Starting point is 01:02:28 Gridden or Bristovic? Gridden. Gridden. Gridden's been, what, a week? I think it was the Rangler's game, two Fridays. By the point, Saturday, Matt, not like he's being around the team for a couple months here and about where everybody's going and hey, do you want to come. Right. Right.
Starting point is 01:02:41 Anyway. And what Hunter's played almost 20 games probably? He's been good. I don't know if it's that many, but he's been really good. Like, I've been very impressed. He's poised. Is he a star? No. Does he look out of place? Absolutely not. That's a great development for this team. He was a guy they got in a trade for Lindholm. Gridden was the first round pick. They turned Kuzmenko into Frost and Farabee. That deal keeps giving. That's been a nice swat for them. Okay, we'll keep moving. Schedule for the flames, slow week. Back at it tomorrow. So they'll probably travel today to Minnesota. They get the wild tomorrow and then back home for their final three games before the Olympic break.
Starting point is 01:03:18 Slow week this week. Wait till we get three weeks of no hockey here. We're going to have hockey. We're going to talk about it. We'll watch the Olympics. We're going to live on location. You get your passport, Jack? Yes.
Starting point is 01:03:30 Yes, good. It is sharks at home, then the Leafs and Oilers also at the Saddle Dome. That is Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Wednesday break. How do you? They've got the best penalty kill. Flames? Yeah. Coming around.
Starting point is 01:03:47 Is it number one in the league? boast and HL's best. I'm on the Flames website. That's what it's telling me. If you trust those guys, I guess I tease. We'll keep moving. We showed you the bottom 10.
Starting point is 01:03:59 We want to tell you about an event going on in Calgary. Kelsey Snow has been doing sensational work, raising money for Snowy Strong, the charity that obviously funds ALS research. Chris was an amazing person in town and a guy that raised an incredible amount of awareness. and funds for the fight to find a cure for ALS. Check this out.
Starting point is 01:04:23 They got an event coming up, Feb, 7 and 8, ODR and Parkdale. Feel free to find that. If you're looking for more in terms of links and information, Boomer and my socials, we got something on that right now. If you want to get involved, that'd be great. Together, we are snowy strong.
Starting point is 01:04:41 Great stuff. It also supports the Calgary North Stars organization, which is a great quadrant hockey. And look at this, auction item, Retro 4 people get to come into the studio Watch a barn burner We're putting this up for their auction
Starting point is 01:04:54 Watch the show live We'll take them out to lunch I'm not buying You don't have to buy them But you can have burger You're like burgers You're not Let's do it
Starting point is 01:05:04 We'll keep moving last night's results From around the league You can walk us through this You had lots of games Lots of things went down Bruins continue to roll Preds have been pretty good Puckin up points when they're losing
Starting point is 01:05:17 That's good Buffalo ran rough shot over the Leafs and a noodles described. And what was to me built up as a okay, the Leafs are, sit down, we're going to talk about this and we're going to be ready for this.
Starting point is 01:05:29 Big game tonight. Punched on the first. They're going to be great. God, Purple River. And the Sabres, that's one of the favorite things in Buffalo is to go into Toronto.
Starting point is 01:05:38 Beat the Leafs. And beat the Leafs. You loved it. Even with so dumb you guys started the series and got them. Loved it. Montreal. Montreal wins an overtime over Vegas.
Starting point is 01:05:47 fun team in the league. They're very fun. I would say in the east, it's tough to beat that. In the West, I love watching San Jose and Anaheim. Those young kids are great. Kings get a win. They've been skidding a bit.
Starting point is 01:05:58 That's big for them if they want to be relevant in the Pacific. They're luckily not in the Atlantic or the Central where it's tough to get in. Pacific's a little easier. Can you be better than Anaheim down the stretch? Yeah, okay, maybe. Can you be better than Seattle? Sure. They got to get going.
Starting point is 01:06:14 Kemper's off to the Olympics, obviously. He's been a big part of what they've done. saw it get a win over Florida. We saw Barkoff skating, but the results still aren't there yet from outside looking in. Lots of interesting things going to happen here after the Olympics. I agree. Florida is proud of the players.
Starting point is 01:06:29 Coming out of us. Like, hmm. Jets, they get a win in Jersey. Devils are reeling. It's from two years in a row. We thought the devils are going to be really good and it just hasn't worked, whether it's injuries, the mix, asking guys about no trades, not getting Quinn Hughes. Something's off there. Something's off for
Starting point is 01:06:45 Sheldon Keith and his crew. Stars get a win in St. Louis. Might be. Could be. Blues have been bad. They lose by one there. Wild, go to the shootout. They get the extra point against the Hawks. Wild cruising along. They had a bit of a skid but looking better now. Quinn Hughes
Starting point is 01:07:01 has been piling up points since arriving in Minnesota. Sharks, five two winners in Vancouver. Fun going to Vancouver these things. Seemed. Celebrating in my old hometown. Come in. A bunch of goals and assists. Pound on the Canucks. They look loft. Let's see.
Starting point is 01:07:17 I can't say I feel bad for Canucks and Canucks fans, but it's not going on. I can't imagine having to go. Oh, and then there's this. Did you see this yesterday? Demco, hip surgery, shut down for the season. Ouch. When did he get his deal? Was it this summer?
Starting point is 01:07:37 Okay. Yeah, big money, lots of term. They didn't have to pay top goalie dollars, but they weren't far off it. And he has been, the availability is a big, part. Like if you can't make the starts, I don't care how good you're. He's been great when he's been in. He's been a top five goalie that you pencil in for 55 games a year. And if you did, you'd probably be in a wild card. He was great at the beginning of the year. Since his rash of injuries began, they've just absolutely plummeted. Tough spot for the Canucks.
Starting point is 01:08:09 You're not losing to any sleep. You said no. And I actually think that Patrick Alvian's like, good, go get surgery. We don't want to. Yeah, we're bad. We pick up points. We'll go get McKenna or Stenberg or Behrhoff or someone. Other news, we saw a couple trades yesterday. Carson Sussi swapped out from the Rangers. And we also saw Andre Palat. He's making a lot of money. Devils get out from under that cap hit.
Starting point is 01:08:30 They get Maxim Simplikov back. They also send two picks to the islanders to take on the hefty salary of Palat, who just never really seemed to be a fit there for whatever reason. Interesting. Minor deal, not a big one. More of a cap relief deal for the devil's. see what they're cooking up. They still got that Dougie Hamilton issue to deal with potentially. I don't know what they're going to try and be. Are they,
Starting point is 01:08:55 they look good on paper. I don't get it. They've been hurt. But like, man, you'd love to have Jack Hughes and Nico Heeshire won two down the middle. That's really nice. You love a lot of their talented, and it's just like, why aren't they winning? Tough in the east right now. Speaking of, we saw the Montreal being fun, this is weird. Check the, check this out. In Montreal, Vegas passing through as they continue their Eastern Canada swing.
Starting point is 01:09:25 They've obviously had the big game in Toronto last week. Listen to when Marner touches the puck in Montreal. Waits. Got the right point. It's a round of Stone back. Up high. Here's Marner. Gets the feedback
Starting point is 01:09:44 for Dorofaev. Marner across for Eichol. Stone. At the goal line. Oh. is it that's a booing martyr in Montreal. This is so weird. They know what they're doing in Montreal.
Starting point is 01:10:05 We're under your skin. It's crazy. Like, I almost feel like if you're absent, he'd be cheering. You're like, look at that guy. He stuck it to the Leafs. Like, nah, screw him. Weird. Still hate him.
Starting point is 01:10:15 Still hate him. Like, I get it when Adam Fox comes to Calgary against Boot. I get it. Mitch and Martin gets booed in Toronto. Montreal. Don't know that we see that often. It's never played there. Canadian.
Starting point is 01:10:28 I hate the leaves. ate the leaves. Chris Johnson has updated trade board at the athletic today. Some interesting names near the top. Rasmus Sanderson topped this list earlier in the year. This is the fifth edition of the season. He continually updates it with teams becoming sellers. Guys saying, eh, I might get out of here.
Starting point is 01:10:45 VanderKane's going to move. If you're a contending team with the strong room, you can handle all that comes with of VanderKain, and he can still perform. If you're in last place, get him out of here. Third on the list. A couple rangers at the top. Panarin and Trocheque. Panarin, great player, longer in the tooth.
Starting point is 01:11:04 Could help a lot of contenders. Crafty, very smart winger. Trochecks a shutdown centerman. He's going to the Olympics to the Americans ahead of some really good goal scores, but a good player. He'll get interest if they want to move him. Shane Wright is very curious on this list. We keep hearing Shane Wright rumors.
Starting point is 01:11:21 Fourth overall, centerman, young, right shot. Connie? I like the idea of it, but I don't know what it costs. Robert Thomas and anyone else in St. Louis probably on this list. It's a weird spot. Doug Armstrong says everyone's available, but the prices are very high. So it's like, are we going to see a lot of moves if you're asking for way too much for all these guys? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:11:46 Thomas is not old yet. He's still a very good player. It's not like you're picking up a 35-year-old here. Coleman checks in at 6. Had a good chat with Blake last night. Loves it here. for a guy that grew up in Texas and played in Jersey in Tampa
Starting point is 01:12:01 enjoys the ODR. He's soaking it up, the Calgary experience. You'd hate to see him go. He's been a great flame, but you know that's a guy ever contending team's like, oh, we're better with this guy. As much as it's a great guy, great culture, great leader, loves it here.
Starting point is 01:12:22 It's the same, I guess. What do they want for Shane Wright? Is Shane Wright worth more than what Zeris was even worth? that's a good question because Zegris was on the block for like three years and they were asking for the moon and they put up big money or big numbers early right has not yeah and so what's left in the ceiling of right from the guy that was a presumptive first overall pick how close is he ever going to get to that ceiling we looked at i don't know haven't seen a lot of them but he's young enough you know there's some GM's thinking if i get him i can turn this guy into a major player uh we'll keep scanning down that's one through six on johnson's trade board seven through 12 Dougie Hamilton, Luke Shen, Cadry's in there, another flame at 9.
Starting point is 01:13:06 Esper Walsstad's interesting. Young goalie, phenomenal year. He and Gustafsson have been arguably the best tandem in the NHL. But maybe that's the chip they can use to get another megastard. Maybe not Quinn Hughes level, but... Tough division.
Starting point is 01:13:21 You know you got Colorado or Dallas right away, if not both the first two rounds. Is Charlie Coyle no good, or is he just... I think he's versatile enough that he can help, but I don't know that Columbus is going to do anything but sell if his contracts up. You know what I mean? Yeah. And yes,
Starting point is 01:13:35 very cut can you. Big money. Is he a center? Is he a winner? Has never turned it to what you're open. No. Well, that offer sheet stuff with Montreal never really turned into being that painful.
Starting point is 01:13:49 Those are, that's the trade board top dozen. Anyone surprising in there, Jack? I'm blown away that we see Walsh stat in there. Yeah, that's probably the most surprising one. I don't. And right similarly. Where do you have to be in the standings to trade Shane right?
Starting point is 01:14:04 Is it like we're in a playoff spot and now we need a veteran? Because I feel like if they're going to miss, that's the guy you want to turn into a better player in Seattle. I don't get why Seattle would trade him. Yeah. He's got another year left after this year. Wow, they're only trade. I think it would be a.
Starting point is 01:14:21 God, God, who knows? Well, maybe he's the carrot you have to dangle to get some of the could be a difference maker. Yeah, he might be a good player down the road, but we want to make the playoffs right now. We have to give something up to get them to get someone better. Yeah. Codry.
Starting point is 01:14:40 Condry. Sure. Please. Love Naz, but you're getting about a decade younger and that's right. Yeah, but if Seattle's looking. Yeah, maybe. You're not what you're considering. You're going, who's going to help me right now if I'm Seattle?
Starting point is 01:14:55 I need to make playoffs. Who can help me right now that's an up. upgrade from a kid that we're trying to develop but isn't going to be impactful. Yeah. We'll look at tonight's slate. Easy one, only three games. We can play our little game here.
Starting point is 01:15:09 Islanders, Rangers, who's played for both? Oh. Make you think. You like lots of guys. Well, it's our name one. That's the game. Tom Pote. Tom Pody.
Starting point is 01:15:20 Okay, we'll accept that. Brian Burrard both. He was a Ranger at one point, wasn't he? I think so. Maybe I got one anyway. Flyers and Bull of jackets. Bobrovsky.
Starting point is 01:15:31 Excellent. Nice. Abbs and Sends. There's lots because they've traded a bunch. I always go Matt Dushain, but there's some other guys, I'm sure you can go to as well. Cool.
Starting point is 01:15:41 That was easy. There's a light. Three games, yeah. I don't mind that Ottawa, Colorado game. Ottawa's desperate. As Noodle said, great team that's not getting saves. At home,
Starting point is 01:15:51 abs have been mortal for the last three weeks. They looked like they needed a better league to play in prior to that. But if you want to play the abs at any time, it might be now. Doesn't mean they're not good, but they look too good for the NHL for the first three months. Shane Wright, 52 games, seven goals, 11 assists. It's got to be more there is what other teams are thinking. And if Seattle maybe thinks, maybe he's just a guy, let's trade them while there's still some value.
Starting point is 01:16:20 Anyway, yeah. Okay. Other NHL stuff, we showed you the Leafs chaos. We don't need to go through that. We use that with noodles. So let's get to the NFL. Jack, we got coaching updates. We have 10 teams fire their coaches this year.
Starting point is 01:16:37 Browns have hired now. Todd Monkin. Sure. Sure. You know the Ravens? 100%. Okay. It does feel Cleveland.
Starting point is 01:16:46 This is not sexy. It does. It really does. If you had to guess, if this guy would still be coaching in four years there, I would take the under. You see Sanders got put in the Pro Bowl? Yes. Shudur. Played like, what,
Starting point is 01:16:59 six games or something? Yeah, he was not very good. Weird. That coaching vacancies, only a couple left now, Cardinals and Raiders. Where would you rather coach?
Starting point is 01:17:12 I think you want to get the young quarterback in Vegas, and I don't know how they fix their Kyler-Mory issue in Arizona, so I think the Raiders. Yeah, although the roster's better right now for the Cardinals for sure.
Starting point is 01:17:23 Doe. Doe. And Mike, McCarthy at the big press conference Jack. Big old Mike. You love this guy. I listen to the press conference. And you said when Tomlin they parted ways,
Starting point is 01:17:37 let's go get a young first time head coach. Yes. Look at this. Up and come up. A 60 year old Mike McCarthy. I'll give him credit. His press conference was really good. He loves Pittsburgh. Like he's from the area.
Starting point is 01:17:51 He was in tears. It was emotional. He had his whole family there. guys hate them or do just fans hate? I think the fans hate it. I think when you go to Dallas, it's like you become part of the evil in Dallas. Right? Like he's coached like some of the best franchise in the NFL now. Pittsburgh, Dallas, Green Bay.
Starting point is 01:18:09 That's true. Went well in Green Bay. Not sure about the other stuff. Dallas was good. Like they had winning records except for the last year, I think. Their offense was always good. So Jack, if I told you there was a coach that could get you in the playoffs, but they won't win playoff games, that would.
Starting point is 01:18:23 That was Mike McCarthy. There you go. Okay. Mike Tomlin to Mike McCartney. Got it. Super Bowl, we'll check in. Odds are still the same. Lines four and a half. This is the waiting game. Like 10 days to the Super Bowl are at?
Starting point is 01:18:35 I'd love to have it this weekend, but we're not. It would be. Let's get this game going. I don't know if I'm excited for this. It's not a marquee matchup. There are some good storylines. Is Drake May, the next great quarterback, or is he on a good team with a great coach and he's been just okay? Maybe it's both. Sam Darnold
Starting point is 01:18:50 was scrap heap guy, excellent year in Minnesota last year. They didn't seem to believe it because they didn't bring them back. Well, I pooped his pants in the playoffs. And everyone was like, well, here's the thing with Seattle. I love that team like the defense. But you know, Sam Darnold in the big game,
Starting point is 01:19:07 looked good in the playoffs. And he's now, this is a crazy stat. Sam Darnold has done something only one other quarterback has ever done. Back-to-back seasons with 14 plus reasons. Always put those two together.
Starting point is 01:19:23 Yeah. Old Tom and Sam. Who'd you take? If you'd take one quarterback, it's either Sam or Tom. Crazy. Big wins in the regular season last year with Minnesota and now Seattle, off to the Super Bowl. Their favorite, as we told you.
Starting point is 01:19:37 The opposite can be said for Gino Smith. Last year's quarterback, the team he went to, picking first overall, the team he left, they're in the Super Bowl. Tough luck. Gino. Oh, Gino.
Starting point is 01:19:52 Hang him out. Oh, he's a buddy. Sorry, buddy. feels like a shot. But those are facts. Just as what it is. That's what it is. And because it's brought to my village Honda,
Starting point is 01:20:01 we close the Pinda Report with a reminder that not all vehicles are ready for winter. And when places that don't get winter get winter, you get this chaos Monday in Texas. Ombudsled grass. Uh-oh. Oh, my God. I keep waiting for it to hit the tree.
Starting point is 01:20:28 It doesn't. Luckily, but more cars keep coming. Oh, my God. Wow. It would be horrifying to live in a place where you don't ever get winter and you don't know what winter tires are, and suddenly you're 360ing down a hill. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:48 I've never had to deal with this. What is happening? What is happening? The wheels aren't working. That is your pain to report this Wednesday, January 28th. I thank you to our great friends in Village. Chana, they'll get you the car that can handle it. You know that.
Starting point is 01:21:01 Villachonda.com for more or the Northwest Automall, your dealership for life. Jack made a proclamation today. Oh. You know, we've been doing some fasting with Dr. Rett. Again, consult your own physician before doing Rett's fast. I'm taking a week off. Don't know that my trainer agrees with everything Dr. Rett subscribed. So we're going to tweak things a little bit.
Starting point is 01:21:26 But Jack was saying, it might be time to just. take a little breather from the booze. Yeah. He's drinking out of a trophy on the weekend of Jasper. Healthy to have a break. Get some better sleep, rest up. Fit February. Fit February.
Starting point is 01:21:39 Don't mind it. Doldrum's in January. Jack, we got just a thing because I know you like cracking a beer. You can still do that, but not consume alcohol. We're telling you about Temple Golden Lager. Oh, yes, the beautiful Temple Golden Lager. Filled the fridge right behind us. light body, clear-headed.
Starting point is 01:22:00 Temple is great whether you're abstaining. You need a spacer. Last night would have been an excellent temple night. Just squeeze a few in between the long line of double tequila soda as I have to poker tournament. Get it and you can find it almost anywhere. It's great. Calgary co-ops.
Starting point is 01:22:16 Order it on Amazon. Drink Temple. T-E-M-P-L.com for more. Great thing to have around because everyone likes crackling on with a friend, but everyone likes waking up foggy. You know what I mean? Temple February. Let's do it.
Starting point is 01:22:30 It's a good one. I like that. They were a hit on the live streams we did. Keep cracking them. Great. Driving home. Jack was fasting. Sorry.
Starting point is 01:22:40 Right. Until he wasn't. Until he wasn't. Until he wasn't. Shout out to Temple Logger. And again, look for them on the socials and at drink temple to empl.com. Good. Okay.
Starting point is 01:22:53 We got some bets, we got super chats, we had noodles. Where do you want to go, Retro? I don't know. I guess we'll go to bats. We'll hit the bats. Beth, the light slates in the NHL. I'm waiting for the real sexy stuff. We got the coin toss is still even money between heads and tails.
Starting point is 01:23:14 I really thought Tails is going to get some momentum here. We're still plus 100 for you. You should bat 365. We got a good slate of hockey games, just three, so we can really dig in on this stuff. I got a couple parlays built. Bet 365, whatever the moment, never ordinary. Download your app, download the app,
Starting point is 01:23:31 and make sure you use that promo code Nation. Here's a couple. Calgary Boy, Kale McCar, Olympian. One of the greatest defense people watching our lives, right? How about you get three shots and two points? Plus 325. It's our game of the night. Avs and Sends.
Starting point is 01:23:46 I like that one. And J.T. Miller, been better of late. It's the range of a tough time getting up for games, but they're on the island. not at home or they suck. And on their rangers, always get a little extra mustard. So we'll go with J.T. Miller,
Starting point is 01:23:58 Artemmy Panarin, one point each. That parley gets you into plus money a plus 105. Next week, we'll have the anthem length. We'll have the Gatorade colors. We'll have the MVP speech.
Starting point is 01:24:11 Who does he thank first? His agent or God or the owner? You know, all that stuff. Can't wait. Can't wait. Thank you, Bet, 365. Preish. More Kelso's odds to win the poker tournament last.
Starting point is 01:24:22 I don't know. Plus the $1,000. Like huge. Doesn't work. So he's probably sitting around playing lots of poker. Just training. Just closet training for the poker turn. Lots out there, whether it's soccer, big game in 10 days, or tonight's slate of
Starting point is 01:24:42 NHL games. Let's get to the super chats. We do that for the U.S. of Calgary. People chiming in throughout the show. We had a bunch yesterday on your birthday. Sometimes I wonder if that means it'll be a little lighter the day after. Jack, what do we got?
Starting point is 01:24:53 I got a call. Good. It's good to it. Fellas. The lefty, 250, 999. Can you give us a good fellas? Well, fellas. Sorry I missed the live show yesterday, but I wanted to wish Rhett a happy belated birthday.
Starting point is 01:25:07 Thanks for always keeping it real, authentic, and honest. Cheers to another 50 more, brother. And I believe that is the clinking beer glasses emoji. Damn right, it is. Or another. Brother. Who's he gone in this picture? Is that achy?
Starting point is 01:25:19 That looks like Jerome McGillan. Indeed. Nice. I'm grateful. for noodles today. He was very AI and all the medical advances and what we know. At least 50. You're saying, and people
Starting point is 01:25:31 are just going to start living forever. You're saying. Oh, I don't have to work a long time. Yeah, you don't need that. Yeah, when can you say, well, this should get me to the end. If you don't know when the ends come. It never ends. I thought you said people won't have to work in a couple years. That's a lot of things. Jack, don't let the pace. We don't want anyone in on that. Just us. We're a little side project here. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:25:51 Rett's deep AI engine. Yeah. I've got some agents. We're creating. We won't have to work next week. Awesome. Get someone to do the show and we'll still get this week. Next week. Love it. This is from R.B. 699.
Starting point is 01:26:08 Happy blurted birthday, Wigger is now a league worst minus 30. Trade him. Nas, Coleman and White Cloud Rebiggle, 2026. Mission McKenna, O. and Fire Maloney. Here's an interesting little tidbit that just popped into the head. Okay. Who was one of the league worst last year? Rasmus Anderson.
Starting point is 01:26:25 How was his year this year? Very good. Real good. So does that make you more or less keen to move? I'm, I don't know how to say it, and I say it all the time. I'm open for business. Yeah, sure. Oh, sure.
Starting point is 01:26:40 Let's work out a deal. Not a shot against your weeks. God love it. Not a valuable player. There are no untouchables on this team. Nope. If Wayne Gretz, he can get moved. I'm sure the entire.
Starting point is 01:26:51 23-man roster here is make me an offer. Doesn't mean you're trying to move a guy, but you're not doing your jobs. You're not listening. I think he should be trying. He's turning on some other friends. Anyway. Trade them all.
Starting point is 01:27:04 Sure. Depends on what you get back. Get parac up and play them. Hey? I want to see him wheeling and deal in like he is in the A and World Juniors. I know it's obviously much harder to do, but. I was watching it. I was impressed with his skill once again.
Starting point is 01:27:19 I'm like, that's pretty good. Yeah. And then I'm like, yeah, the other guys out there are going half the speed of what the next level is. Sure. Yeah. Oh, this is the level that Karens is dominating. Yeah. No, sorry, Rory.
Starting point is 01:27:32 Love you, Laura. Love you, Laura. Love you. That's it for super super chats. Thank you to the use centers of Cowder for all the two. One more. Thank you. No question.
Starting point is 01:27:41 Just for the kids. Boy, Bryce. 50 for the kids. Love that. Thank you, Bryce. Leesmer. Bryce Leesmer. Can you say it.
Starting point is 01:27:50 It was too hard. That's why. Bryce. Bryce delicious. Thanks to the 50 bucks. Great for the kids. Great for being with us on this hump day.
Starting point is 01:28:00 Retro. Yep. The January. Oh, boy. And it's Jan. We got a lot on our to-do list right now. We've got to get the McLeodlaw and those re-biggle shirts that have been stolen from us. It's such a good idea.
Starting point is 01:28:12 And someone's a sign apparently of a successful shirt as someone immediately steals the idea and rips it on. It's true. Got to get that sort of, Jack? I'm not. guy that do that. Cloud law, you know, McCall. You know who to call.
Starting point is 01:28:26 McLeodlaw. Pengel. We didn't do tankathon yesterday, I don't believe. No, we didn't. Oh. So we did two spins today, which is not bad because I think the odds are better today. Leave the jets jump past them last night. I miss Boomer.
Starting point is 01:28:41 That's, thank you, Dean. Yeah, we miss Boomer too. He'll be back. Recharged. Yeah, I miss Boomer. Flusely, end of January, boomer, that hasn't gone away. Here's thing. He'll come in on Monday
Starting point is 01:28:53 like a cannonball off a pirate ship. Vim and vigor, all kinds of energy, a little glow tan. And by Tuesday at lunch he'll be back to just update. He'll be awful. I can't wait for that Monday show.
Starting point is 01:29:07 He will be great. No doubt in my mind. Thank you, Boomer, for saying, how much do you give to the kids? Nothing. Just a freebie. She prick.
Starting point is 01:29:17 It's an all-inclusive, probably. He didn't pay for food. Tag it thought. Let's go. We go to the website. Flames, third best odds, 11.9% to select to win the lottery. First overall chance, 11.9%.
Starting point is 01:29:30 Let's give it a spin. Canucks, blues, the only teams with better odds in Calgary. Washington wins. Washington. Washington. She is. It won the East last year, regular scene. Let's smack.
Starting point is 01:29:43 Can you put McKenna out there with Ovi. He'll keep playing another three years. Any chance of Washington. Washington, get winning. We can't have you getting McKenna. Get out of here. Blue's second, Canucks drop two spots to third,
Starting point is 01:29:56 and Calgary at four. Center. Time and Lawrence. Time and Lawrence. Let's go. Let's go get it. Spin it again, Jackie. We missed yesterday.
Starting point is 01:30:03 Two for the price of one. We reset. We spin again. Lottery simulation. Ooh. Fourth again. Same spot. This time the Preds get up there.
Starting point is 01:30:13 Preds of St. Louis, Vancouver, Calgary, Utah for. We need some of these teams start winning. Let's go. Get them out of there. I don't think it matters because it's all fluke. They only had a 6% chance of getting it. It's true.
Starting point is 01:30:26 Stinking Washington one, even less. Did we pay our bills today, Jack? Are we free to go? Yes, we are good. God bless noodles for saving the show today. Always the best. Always the best. I love them.
Starting point is 01:30:39 And they will be hot and bothered out in Toronto right now. Yes. His job is easy. He just has to say maple leaves. Well, like he said, he's just going to wind up. Big Hayes. Ryan Hayes. let the
Starting point is 01:30:53 least nation man deal with it probably some interesting times for our boy Jay Rossoe and Nick Alberga as well. It would be actually if we're bored we should ask Big Jay maybe tomorrow the next week. He'll be in here next week. I don't want to be a
Starting point is 01:31:10 tanned boomer next week. We don't need to move so let's get a rosy tomorrow. Throw a letter. Yeah. All right, we'll see if we can have for that. Thank you for joining us today on the program. We'll be better tomorrow. That we said yesterday too.
Starting point is 01:31:25 Yesterday we were tired and hung over and now I'm tired and hung over. Now you're tired and hung over. Jack. Jack. Tomorrow. I'm fine. He was awful on Monday.
Starting point is 01:31:36 He was awful on Monday. Yeah, Monday was the shit. We're all taking turns here. Jack was the shits on Monday. Rett was rough yesterday. Didn't need to stay until 1 a.m. At the, what's the final table? No, but you get excited.
Starting point is 01:31:48 You do. Reggie was telling great stories. He was excited. You get excited. You have a few. You're in the game. There's a lot of people and everyone knows that you love people. And then you're talking to people and everyone knows that you like talking.
Starting point is 01:32:00 Perfect. Free. Free. Free. Thanks for being with us. We'll do it again tomorrow. We'll see if we don't get a little more, throw some gasoline on the fire with the Rose Hill. Thanks for being with us.
Starting point is 01:32:13 See you, buddies.
