Well, here we are. Welcome to the program, the show, the podcast, whatever you want to call it.
When people, what do you call it when you tell people?
So what are you doing now? I'm doing a podcast.
I do say that.
Yeah, podcast.
Do you feel kind of weird saying it?
You know you a little bit?
Oh, okay.
It's the, say you're filling out a form or the bank or something or vehicle or, you know.
Yeah. So what do you do?
I do a podcast.
Oh.
Oh.
How's that work?
Yeah.
I got it for a guy crossing the border.
One of the, what do they call?
Border guards.
Border guards.
Something like that.
He was like, what do you do?
Podcast.
Yeah.
Podcast.
Yeah.
You ever heard of Joe Rogan?
How's that?
He's like, see, you make money at that?
Yeah.
Just one level down from Joe Rogan.
If you've heard of Joe, then it's much the same thing.
If you keep searching, you'll see me.
Yeah, very much the same thing.
Well, look at us here inside the Tower, Chrysler Studios, Consumer Choice Award winner,
Calgary's favorite Chrysler Dodge dealer, and they're at it again.
They're doing good things for people.
The inaugural roar and explore event is coming up in just a couple of weeks.
Saturday, August, the 26th, the little show and shine.
They got a car show.
They wanted to do something for a while.
They decided, let's just do it.
It's time to let's get this thing rolling.
Celebrating the history of Mopar, Dodge, Ram, Jeep, Chrysler,
if you have yourself a vehicle you'd like to get in,
20 bucks, all of the money raised going to the Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids charity,
which is awesome.
They'll have best in show.
There's not different prizes.
They're going to have raffles.
Food truck going to be there.
going to be putting a bunch of their vehicles. They've got some classics and obviously some new ones.
So if you have yourself a little Mopar that you're proud of, get in. Free admission to the public.
If you want to go and check this thing out again, it's August the 26th, a Saturday from 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m. There you see it. Why wouldn't you? I love a good car show.
My Dodge Coronet to show up again. Get your dart.
The George Babcock, that or a El Camino. And Georgie punched me in the face. He said, don't be an idiot.
Yeah.
Get the dog.
It's mopar.
Mopar power.
Par.
Roar and Explore August the 26th.
Going and probably, I'm guessing,
Serge will be there.
Roaring.
Just roaring. Yeah, just roaring.
So, uh,
what have you been doing?
Because we, uh, last week,
I had a sore hoof, couldn't get in.
Week before.
I mean, we've been doing a few shows sporadically.
We've been rolling out the interviews that we've been doing,
but this sort of thing.
You're off and on, because let's be honest, it's tumbleweeds over at Saddle Dome.
Even my friendships, I'm starting to question.
Apparently, there's friendships, but there's summer friendships.
And the allotment of time varies depending on the seasons.
Do you know what I mean?
Like, I can get a lot more time out of my friends come October.
Oh, really?
Yeah, yeah.
January?
Yeah.
February.
Yeah.
August it's long weekend you're down the list yeah yeah yeah down the pecking order in priority yeah
it's tougher to find them yeah trying to get guys to come in to talk to us yeah i know love to uh how
about uh september 28th uh need you less then sure yeah then you'll matter less to us by then
right now you're very high on our priority list by then you'll be die to talk yeah there's not
Sutter.
Suts.
Yeah.
Nothing going on.
I think I was told you last week.
I talked to Connor,
texted Conroy.
So, yeah,
I'm at the Haleinka watching,
watching the kids play.
And then he's going to go to do his summer stuff in New York.
I think that's where they got to place.
A little summer spot out there.
She's a little quiet.
Right.
Lighten a lamp.
Is that right?
I think my wife might,
I shouldn't even say it.
Yeah.
She was creeped out about it.
Where was he?
He was a little boy.
Freshly born.
Babe.
Former Hurricane and Flame Byron Richie.
Son, yeah.
Yeah, his kid.
It's those second generation players.
No pressure on your kid, but.
Byron had the, uh, he had the heart for it.
Yeah.
It was, yeah.
More heart than.
Oh, he was saying anything else.
He was dialed in and given her.
We'd go do training and then the next day we'd meet at the trainer again.
Old Richie Hesketh.
Hello, Richie.
Hi, Rich.
and then he'd tell me about his second workout of the day and I'd squint and
two two a day two yeah with the trainer I thought we're yeah some people do that shit
some do it apparently his kids doing it too did you watch any of that I didn't watch any of that
no so I saw none of that I saw like my first four downs of CFL football big rider victory right
It's like they were going to blow it.
Some terrible.
Yeah.
Terrible calls by the coach there.
Oh, is that right?
Anyway, Dickinson.
But I saw a lot of sports.
Well, it's like you're running for mayor.
You're Johnny Calgary.
Yeah, that's.
If you want,
I've shaken hands,
kissing babies at the cavalry game.
So what,
so what,
you run us through here at the last week,
you've been cavalry.
The cavalry.
The Cavalry.
Big win.
I went to the launch pad.
Launchpad.
Launchpad, nice.
the launch pad was a big hit.
with the family.
Sure.
We went to a dog's game last night.
I don't know.
I guess I thought about going to this.
I watched some of the surge game on the TV.
It was on TSN.
I was kind of stunned.
He's like,
maybe I should have went to this.
Rob Kerr was there signing autographs.
Was he?
Oh yeah, he's,
he's part of the surge there.
He does some,
he doesn't look like a baller to me.
He's very tall.
He's very tall.
He's tall, but not.
He's the chairman of the board.
Would you call them very tall?
For me, everybody else is very tall.
You're very tall, except for Jack.
Jack's not that tall.
But I'll Kerr was there.
Yeah, I went to Surger off to the final four in the C.EBL.
Are they playing at home?
No, it's it.
Yeah, the final four weekend coming up.
More details coming in the Pinder report.
Oh.
Is he alive?
I don't know.
I see.
he's texting.
He's texting the group.
He's texting me.
My understanding that he was going away and we said,
that's great.
Give her,
bud.
Yeah.
Go get him.
Yeah.
He,
I don't think he has any downtime.
It's just,
there's always something.
Driving to Saskatchewan,
flying to Palm Springs.
It's always something.
Question for you.
Have you noticed the attention to
schedule over the last
couple months. I can't decide if it's new and fresh and a new thing that he's really trying to
dial in on or if it's always been there. And we just, we were more structured with our past gig and
no, you know what it is? I think, well, you're hard to nail down. Oh, for, he's the, the exact
opposite and it's fine. And I actually chuckle about it because he'll just start, you know,
in his way of, and he's got the sketch.
and he wants to know the schedule and he's asking me about a schedule and I'm saying I don't have a schedule.
Don't bug me about a schedule.
I think what it is is in this thing that we're doing that he's kind of taken ownership on that because I'm not good at that.
There's other things that I do and whether or not I do them well, but that I handle.
The schedule isn't really one of them.
So I think he's kind of taken ownership that for this group, our company needs to.
Yeah, our conglomerate.
probably is a good point.
He's going to map things out because he was,
so if we're going to do some trips,
if we're doing,
if we're planning stuff for the fall,
what do you want to do?
What do you want to do?
So I,
I appreciate it.
I'm happy that,
that he's taking that.
Because I don't know.
I'm,
I am one week at a time.
I'm content with him taking it
because it still has no influence.
He can put all kinds of schedule together.
And I kind of just,
hope that it works.
Because Jack asked me.
Jackass?
Jackass.
Jackass.
He's like,
So does Rhett know what he's doing for the fall?
I just kind of gave him a blud.
That's the look I gave him.
Even without the sun,
you could tell what kind of a blad?
I don't know.
Oh, have you guys not?
No, I do.
No.
Jack, what day is it?
Tuesday.
Yeah, but like the date.
The eighth.
Fall starts in like two months.
Yeah.
We're going to.
It's too soon.
You can't make plans that far out.
What are you talking about?
So there's no plan?
It has to be some plan.
I mean, you kind of,
I think you take pleasure in it.
We have had deep discussions on deep, deep,
different, many different scenarios, many different scenarios.
Yeah.
And I'm pretty open about talking about my life on this stupid thing that we do.
I don't have any clarity on it, so I don't want to.
Yeah.
one kid will not be here this winter.
Ladies and gentlemen.
Breaking news.
Breaking news.
So there you go.
Yeah.
How's that for a plan?
One kid.
You have three of them.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't have a place for him to stay either, but he's not going to be.
He's not staying here.
You better figure that shit out on his own.
Don't care.
Yeah.
Better figure it out.
So what's up for the rest of, because we're now into, we're now well into August.
I don't know if you've noticed.
I hate it.
I hate it.
I think again, I talked about it last week.
There's still an ingrained stress factor that rises up in August.
I think it's bubbling into the surface.
Is it?
Hate it.
Don't like seeing August fly by.
Don't like seeing summer fly by.
I grabbed my coffee down here and beautiful Mardaloupe area of Calgary.
I'm like, if we had three or four months of this, my opinion on the city would just.
Summer's been great.
Oh, the weather's been great.
Summer's been great.
Yeah.
Good job, Calgary.
Where to go Calgary?
You figured your shit out.
You really got it going this year.
2023, hell of a year for Calgary.
Damn right.
Yeah.
Big year.
Surge win.
Yeah.
Dogs win.
Cabs win.
Flames.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
Conrad.
Yeah.
Again, he's back.
He's back.
It's so great.
When?
But the weather's been on.
I'm with you.
It's like, yeah, this is so good.
so nice.
And you think,
what if this was November?
This is fire.
I'm not laughing about the fire.
No,
or not.
I'm laughing about the response I heard.
So my brother goes to Kukenusa.
This kid, blah, blah, blah.
They talked to him.
And he went down there.
There was a lot tons of smoke at Sparwood,
Elkford kind of area.
You could see the fires.
Smoky, smoky.
He said, well, the mayor or somebody down there said,
well, it's August.
So rather than,
than combat them, we'll just, they're high up in the mountains,
we'll just leave them because it'll snow soon enough.
It's going to rain and that's what my depression.
Wow.
It's kind of a, but I'm not, I'm taking the, I can't worry what the fires are, but rather
they were out.
But I'm like, he's damn right.
It's going to snow any day.
Yeah.
Snow soon enough.
Yeah.
Like we're going to be in September and we're going to see some of those white flakes coming
out of the sky.
we're going to freak out.
Now, don't take this the wrong way.
But if you were that politician or whatever,
it's going to snow soon enough.
We're just not going to worry about it.
That feels like that would be a very ret approach.
It's going to snow sometime.
Can't control me?
You know, what am I supposed to do?
It's already August.
What are we supposed to do?
What are we supposed to do?
Suffer through a couple more months or weeks will be fine.
Yeah.
But every, you see some people on the wind.
When's home?
hockey start. When are we getting to hockey season?
Shush.
Shush. There's no rush.
Well, the big dope, the kid that won't be around.
And now we know which kid.
He, uh, he's got five games in the month of August.
Wow. And my brother's like, that seems a bit idiotic.
And then I started thinking about it. I'm like, yeah, that's, that's beyond stupid.
Like, we don't have enough time when it's shit out and we can't be outside that we can
spend it in the rink one of my kids buddies he's off to the a j leaves this week yeah where's you
go boyd oh thanks bobcats is that what they're called yeah there's a couple more going to uh cameras
cameras i believe it is yeah you got to go this week the hell's going on this what i guess you know
meet your billets and get that stuff figured out but i'm kind of with you this is still you should be on a
boat somewhere.
Yes.
Well,
see,
and that's what my,
so in Calgary,
if you're in the hockey world
with children,
you're pissed right off
because tryouts start
like the day school starts.
So come middle of August,
if your kid thinks he's a superstar,
he's got to be on the ice every day, right?
Got to be in shape.
Yeah.
To be.
And for all the other kids
have been on the ice all summer,
they're already behind.
So you can hardly risk sending your kid to cap
for tryouts.
If they haven't been skating, so summer you lose half a month.
Well, down where I was, they have the tryouts in the spring.
Oh, that's great.
Yeah.
Don't have to.
Yeah, but they start August 20th.
I'm like, is that what they do?
That makes no sense.
Yeah.
You're supposed to gain that time.
Yeah.
I thought you get the whole summer.
It's great.
We got a team picked.
You're on a team.
I've wondered about that sometimes when you,
because nothing's 100%.
everybody's going to have benefits and drawbacks and all that.
But I wonder about tryouts in spring.
It does seem odd.
So here's the, because now I've done both.
So the benefits to it, you know the kids are all in shape at the end of the year.
The parents don't have to spend guillions of dollars trying to put their kids into camps.
And you're comfortable.
You're going to start date.
Teams made.
Let's give her.
Well, when you're eight and four months go by,
there are many things that change.
You can make some big gains,
even if you're 10 or 12,
like four months is a long time in your life.
So you can become a better player.
All of a sudden,
you go to camp in the fall and you're not on the team you want to be on.
You're like,
I don't even get a chance here.
I put in all the work all summer.
I worked all summer.
Come on.
Yeah.
So you hold the tryouts in the spring.
two lines, four defensemen, one goalie.
If you're not in that group, you have a tryout in the fall.
We're going to try out for the last, if you're going 15 skaters, last five skaters.
Because you're right, in a lot of ways you could probably, without even, without tryouts, going into the next year, if you're one of the coaches or if you're in that, that group, you could probably know who's going to be on which team, on those higher level team.
anyway and then as the other one
that gets harder obviously as it filters
on down maybe you have those tryouts
in the fall I don't know
all I know is that it's
August and you'd best enjoy
it because not
before long it's just going to be
hanging with Jack every frigging day
they're like a daily basis
with this D-Gen
I'm starting to figure your shit out too
by the way
what do you mean
coming in here with your eyes all bugged out
drinking all night
I'm not that bad.
I cleaned up a couple weeks ago.
I was in here.
Nothing going on.
Listen, we're a family.
You need to talk after the show.
Start taking the garbage and doing recycling and stuff.
It's like there's a lot of,
holy Christ.
Yeah, that got pretty bad.
There was about 50 monster energy drinks.
If you have to shotgun like three monsters.
It's just to get your day.
That was like months.
though. Maybe you've cooked
the goose a little too much. What is your
monthly budget on
on monster drink?
Like 20 bucks a week.
BS.
Because what are those worth?
Three bucks each.
You're only having them here. One a day.
Only one. One a day.
Well, at least they're good for you.
That's true. Look at them.
It's alive. Look at them.
For you.
Hearing loss.
Clinic hearing loss.ca.
I am
three weeks in now
of wearing my new...
Did you get them?
Shit yeah.
Got my new hearing
apparatus.
So you don't need to wear it while you do the show.
I took them out for, well, I've got these.
Just because it's wired.
These things are unbelievable.
I got an app on my phone.
You just go right to...
Turn that shit up and down.
Turn it up and down.
Pick.
Okay now.
You have the audience.
automatic setting.
Wait, because your kid, I know your kids.
And he's a jokester.
And that little shithead is going to get your phone one day.
And he's going to jack that up or turn it off.
And you're,
he's a jackass,
but he's also stupid.
So he'd need to be able to get in there and figure it out.
But these,
this set that I've got the,
it's the,
the Phonac,
I believe is what's.
The Phonac 500?
There it is.
I got my app.
I don't, well,
I don't have them in right now, so I can't show you.
But you get in there, it's got, are you watching a movie?
Are you in a public place?
Are you in a loud sporting event?
So when I was at the surge game the other day, well, I got to put it on this special setting.
Perfect.
There it is.
Isn't that some.
Unbelievable, these things.
If you're used to wearing what it's become for me, it's not about wearing hearing aids.
It's like wearing your earbuds, your airport, whatever you wear to listen.
I'm just wearing these headphones to listen to life.
to hear you better and all of that.
And it totally works for me.
And I miss it now if I forget about them because it's still not in that routine.
Oh, shit, I forgot to put the things in.
And it's like, yeah, this, like even listening right now, muted.
Very low, very, that sort of thing.
These things give you the, hey, how's cool.
Hey, hey, get a load of me.
Maybe it can do the same thing for you.
And not a laughing matter. No joke. I've told you about this. And it's way too oversimplified.
But there are issues. Neurologically, there's a lot of serious health risks with not getting your hearing checked or having the proper hearing aid if you need it.
And it's not everybody's going to have hearing aids. It's going to be different ways to go on about it.
But for me, it was just the way to go. It's made a big difference.
I can't strongly, strongly recommend
go and get in there.
Have them check it out for you.
They are the best.
There are four Calgary locations.
There are nine in all over in BC.
Are you in Fernbroke?
Are you in Cranbrook?
It's not been in Ferney.
Are you in Creston?
Are you in Golden?
Are you in Invermere?
At the hearing loss on Twitter,
Instagram at the Hearing Loss Clinic.
Get on it.
I recommend you do it.
It has been awesome for me.
So thanks to Rhodesy and everybody,
Hannah and everybody over there.
Go see Rhodesy,
except he's not going to be there.
Rhodesy's busy.
Rosie is very busy.
He's a good boy.
The brains.
Yeah.
I'd said Doug,
but Doug would get pissed off.
Would he?
Because I need to hear my mom and then they'd fight more.
You know,
it's,
it's,
I guess you do.
But it's not like you're hearing,
things that you didn't know weren't taking place.
It's just your, it's the accuracy.
But isn't that the joke
you have to make when you talk about hearing you?
But you can still, I guess it is, yeah.
You can still
just ignore them.
I find that that still works for me.
Still effective. Yeah.
Did you get that message?
No, sorry. No clue.
How fall you want? I didn't hear you.
You can still lie.
So are there plans?
for you between now and
because you said the one boy
is not he's got plans apparently
yeah the other two so are you
getting away have you got an event
just watching
time fly yeah
doing nothing with you got the boomer
set up here yeah doing nothing with it yeah
that happens a lot every summer
I get annoyed because I live on that lake
and I'm like I feel like all I do is sit here and
watch these dumb ass to swim
and piss around yeah
You can't ignore them.
No, well, you know what I mean?
You can, but you, yeah, you, I mean, you shouldn't be annoyed.
That's, I mean, you got a great set up there.
Yeah.
Then I don't do anything.
Yeah, I guess so.
It's fine.
Talking to the neighbor.
Maybe doing less is fine.
Yeah.
Traveling and stuff.
You know, it's hard.
Yeah.
You can't fly anywhere without missing flights.
How's that going to make you happy?
Not me.
My happy place where it's cold.
and dark in the basement i talked to noodles i text yeah one of my friends yeah that maybe i thought would
have some time but he's in the turks and kakos both both both the turks and kakos both both the turks
i don't know how you do both but good for him the same time yeah and he said the same thing he goes
i would love to do your show because i hate being outside
don't like the outdoors so if you could give me a reason to not have to have
to participate in some of my family activities.
Yeah.
I'm in.
Yeah.
God.
And he's not even old yet.
Oh,
he's still young.
He's still young.
He's not old,
but he's got some real old tendency.
Yeah.
And he's had them for decades.
Yeah.
I look forward to talk.
We'll get him on some point.
Looking forward to talking old noodles.
One of the best storytellers you'll ever be around.
I was just thinking about him the other day.
He wrote a book, right?
Doesn't he have a book?
I believe he did.
Yeah.
because I've read the book because I remember some of the story.
But was it like a bigger hockey book and he just had like a chapter in it?
I couldn't remember exactly what it was.
But I think he actually has a partying with nickelback.
And he loves nickel back.
Yes.
Well, he loves music.
Yeah.
He loves music.
Yeah.
Anyway, we get him going.
Telling Kipper stories.
Then the owners are all, will he?
Kipper's stories and they'll be like, no, this can.
Oh, no. Cancel.
Yeah.
I feel like I've done a good deed.
We should feel like we've done good deeds.
We've been telling our guys, everybody listening and watching whatever, about Vina Nova
with the lab grown, lab grown diamonds.
Why spend dumb money on basically the same, sometimes inferior product when you can go to
Vena Nova and talk to Justin and say, hey, here's, here's my budget.
here's what I'm looking at doing.
Here's what I want.
Can you can you help me?
That's the other thing is you walk in,
okay,
I'm going to get something.
I'm going to get some jewelry for whoever.
It's,
you walk into a jewelry.
Like is there a,
do you ever feel dumber?
Like is there another place in the world?
Like NASA,
the space station?
That's the same thing.
I have no idea what I'm doing,
what I'm looking at,
what's happening here.
Or can,
please help.
Okay, fine.
What do you do?
and that that sort of thing.
So a buddy of ours went and got hooked up with Vinova.
He's like, I hear you talking about the lab growing with the thing.
Hey, I'm going to get Justin.
We're going to get into a little email, a little chat coming to pick it up this week.
Well done.
How about that?
Yeah, that's those, the VIN, those stores, it's kind of just like, here's my check.
Yeah.
What can I get?
Yeah.
Because I have no opinion on anything.
I'm going to need expert advice from somebody else.
Yeah.
We speak the same language, and that's about where it ends in my ability to figure out what's happening.
Even the anxiety level, walking into one of those stores.
As soon as you cross the barrier.
Yeah.
Oh, can I help you find anything?
You kind of cruise by the, you're looking, and then somebody asks you, can I help?
No, no, I'm just looking out of the store.
I'm just, just looking around.
Like, you could pull that off at Home Depot.
No, I'm just looking at it.
Yeah.
Oh, you're just looking around the jewelry store, just time to kill because your wife's doing
something else.
This is what you're doing.
Don't be stupid guys.
Vinova, Calgary's lab-grown diamond specialist.
Lab-grown diamond.
It's been grown in a lab.
Same chemical composition as an earth-mined diamond, except the savings are astronomical.
In some cases, 75, 80% less than what you're going to pay for a mined diamond.
in many cases, these are better quality.
Gemologists can't tell the difference every once in a while.
So if you want something custom made, they can do that,
pick something right up off the floor and get its size.
If you ship it to you wherever you are,
venanova.com is the website or go and check them out at the showroom,
downtown second level of Stephen Avenue place.
Justin's good boy.
He's a good boy.
I pulled off a big one for my kid with some help,
but the middle one.
You're not a lot that rings his bell, you know?
You want to play hockey?
He's even keel.
We've tried a lot of things.
Football, yeah.
There's boxing.
You name a sport, we've done it.
Tennis, bad, but everything.
Tie.
Deep.
Done deep.
Done it all.
And even beyond that, it's just,
kind of said what he's gotten himself into wrestling yeah like leotard tights wrestling like earmuffs
wrestling no no he's not so much doing it as he's i'm a stupid sign wrestling yeah that's right okay
yeah that's right so he is absolutely pumped because i don't know if you knew this but the w w e is
coming to town this week.
Ah.
Big event.
Some of my funnest events ever.
Saturday was SummerSlam.
And then Smackdown is here on Friday at the dome.
And then Raw is in Winnipeg on Monday.
So we're going to do both.
Wow.
Smackdown on the Friday.
And then we're going to zip out to Winnipeg for for the Raw.
Because they have two different.
If you're on Raw, you're not on SmackDown.
Winnipeg for something.
You don't go to Winnipeg for something.
Yeah, you don't just go to Winnipeg for something.
You don't do that.
That's not really how that works.
But, uh, so yeah, I'm, uh, dad of the year right now.
Main events?
Uh, well, they kind of, it's, I know, I don't know.
I'm not even followed enough of it.
My understanding is that, uh, the tribal chief is going to be here, which would be a big deal.
Uh, because, uh, the universal champion, the tribal chief, Roman Reigns isn't at all the
Smackdown.
He's not, he's a champion.
He doesn't have to do that.
He's been, it's over.
a thousand days, three years, he has been
the champion. So he kind of calls his own shots.
There's big stuff going on with the bloodline.
Uso's.
Really? I don't want a spoiler, but if you didn't see
SummerSlam on the weekend. Oh boy.
You may want to catch a replay. Yeah.
So with any luck,
Roman Raines will be there, but by the kids,
big time into LA night. This is a big new
deal. Okay. Maybe that's what you?
I should. You should.
I loved wrestling.
back in the day. Yeah, me too, me too. I did. I was into it Monday night. It's massive right now.
Again, more than ever. Maybe it never stopped. Maybe I just stopped, but. Yeah, I think it went through a kind of a down,
like everything else. It went through a bit of a swoon, but I got it would be to, even, uh, even me a second.
It is pretty pretty good. The entertainment value. The entertainment levels are pretty good. Yes. Pretty good.
so that's
that's going to be the highlight
signs of the sign I don't think so
what because then you then you can't see
you don't have to hold it up the whole time
arms get sore
but what makes it good is it's a
it's a TV thing because you go to some of the
house shows where there's no
no camera where it's a good boy
they're a little flatter yeah it's a little
flat so it'll be lots of screens and
explosions and stuff
yeah
So that's my summer.
That's dad winning the summer this year.
Not going anywhere.
Not doing anything.
Going to Winnipeg.
You are going to fly to Winnipeg, though, right?
Yeah.
Well, that's the plan, but, you know, who knows?
Got to get on the plane.
That'll be the other thing is you can't get there.
And by the time you know that your plane's, your flight's after.
You can't drive there.
So, yeah, get back and would anybody like to buy these tickets for a fraction of
what are we paid for them?
It'll be fine. It'll be good.
Yeah.
I feel pretty good about it.
Take Jack.
Jack, are you into the wrestling? Do you watch any?
Not really. When I was younger, I played the games and stuff.
Yeah. I don't know anything now.
Do you play games now, Jack?
No.
Are you a gamer?
Not anymore.
What do you do now, aside from just poison yourself with energy drinks?
Do I do? I watch a lot of sports, NFL.
like that's my
it's coming up
yeah
been glued to Twitter
watching all the training camp stuff
what else do you're one of those dorks
oh yeah
that goes that deep oh yeah oh god
like I fancy myself a fan
I was at the dogs game yesterday
mm-hmm okay
how's the mafia gonna be this year
what I'm a big bills
oh the oh bills about you
yeah you're casual
yeah I don't I
sure compared to the dorks that follow Twitter in August and watch training camp yes
sorry I called you a dork because you're big you're somehow from Pittsburgh or so
yeah born in Pittsburgh or live there in whitefish or some shit too like my dad lived in
whitefish yeah okay I don't know what else going on we really should have asked more
questions before we brought him in because now we've got oh really hey where are the bodies
Jack? Where have you buried the bodies?
Pittsburgh.
Why do you like the Steelers? Because you lived there?
I was born there.
Okay.
What am I supposed to like the stands?
Two years.
But I've been back lots.
I don't know.
So how long did you live there?
Two years.
Until you were two years old.
Yeah, I was young.
Well, then you can't have an affiliation with the Steelers.
Why do you like the bills?
because they were really good in the 90s,
and we used to get a Rochester feed
on the TV in Saskatoon.
That's why.
So what am I supposed to do?
Jump ship and come to the bill.
That's right.
I was going to say,
it's all going to come back around.
So you were in Pitts,
so.
What do you want to know?
Then where did you live?
In Calgary.
I went from Pittsburgh to Calgary.
So you're not really from Pittsburgh.
It says it on my passport.
I got American passport.
Brett doesn't have one.
Or does he?
Be careful.
You're going to be a taxman.
Get you hauled out of here.
Well, how are things looking for the Steelers?
Good.
I think they'll be really good this year.
Great insight.
I'm glad you've been following.
What do you want to know, right?
I don't want to know anything about the Steelers.
You know what I know?
I know the bills shit pumped the Steelers.
They did kill them last year.
Yeah.
In Orchard Park last year.
and I was there.
It was great.
Got drunk, got to leave early.
There you go.
Didn't have to fight traffic.
Thank you, Pittsburgh.
Who was this stupid quarterback that was going to be so great?
And we just absolutely trashed them.
This kid?
Pick it.
Yeah.
Pick it.
Pick it.
How is Kenny?
Kenny's good.
Z?
Yeah.
Not that good.
How's George?
George's good.
Yeah?
Yeah.
How's nausey?
No.
You know a bit, eh?
Keep him going.
I don't know anyone.
my uncle would big big big stealers fan too who's the backup
I kept waiting for Naji to shoot himself oh the back of Brian
Warren yeah you had a man get hurt would you
he looks great in practices you know he looks great in practice is you know
scat back and if Naji Harris ever guys Harris hasn't been playing very well
like put the other guy in she Harris a terrible year we're doing a draft this year
I believe we are Pinder got that on the schedule he has put
on the schedule, did you get the email?
I know it's through the Yahoo.
We all got our Yahoo!
I don't have a Yahoo!
Anything.
But that's how you'd have to submit your lineup and stuff.
Oh, yeah, in Yahoo.
Actually, now that you mentioned it,
I think Yahoo sent me an email saying,
you've not signed in.
That's right.
In a long, long time.
And if you're not going to, we're going to shut your,
shut you down.
You don't.
Yeah.
Well, settle down, Yahoo.
I think you need all the support you can get
before you start telling Rhett Warner to go fuck himself.
Yeah, you don't need to lose.
You say, please come back.
Yeah.
Please.
Important piece of the puzzle.
Yeah.
We'll go through a Pinder report.
Were we going to have that donkey on?
You got a link and he responded, but.
Yeah.
Time for the Pinda report, a presentation of Village Honda,
the third annual, Honda and Accura show and shine at Village Honda, food trucks, petting zoo,
best Hondas and Accurors in the city are going to be on display, family friendly, no charge for
spectators, $10 per car registration, visit Village Honda for more details into RSVP or register your car
all the proceeds are going to charity. It's like everybody that we work with,
is just doing great things.
I mean, we're not doing a whole lot ourselves,
but the people that we've aligned ourselves with
doing wonderful things for other people.
Hang out with good people.
That just kind of rubs off.
Yes.
And we can take some.
Don't they say that?
All the self-help people,
like hang around.
People you want to be.
The right people.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Get the toxic people out of your life.
Good peers.
Yeah.
So maybe at some point it'll affect the way we do business
and conduct ourselves, but
for the time being,
hasn't done a whole lot.
Let's see what we can do for you here with the
old Pinder report.
What I want to tell you.
Oh, we finally got this
Eric Carlson deal is done.
Anticclimatic.
Kind of.
Because
we didn't Mike grew up
three first round picks and
a ton of prospects.
Oh, yeah.
This is Norrisville, Russia.
You need that.
That's gawky.
What a do.
Hello, fellas.
How we doing?
It's not a responsible ad.
Just great, Ryan, how are you?
Why can't, can you stop walking?
Well, I just, I don't want to be too noisy here.
There's a bear.
We have not spotted any bears yet.
Actually, Grandma did.
Gigi saw a cinnamon bear a couple mornings ago on her bike ride.
That's the only bear update I have.
She's a little.
She's a loony tune on Zoomers.
She didn't see a bear.
Weeks.
Yeah, sometimes she sees bears and she's just asleep.
Who knows?
That's right.
How are the show today, fellas?
Oh, it's so good, Ryan.
Yeah.
Really putting our heart and soul into it.
Where are you?
I'm northern Saskatchewan near Retzold Haunt.
Where at Wask-Soo Lake here is overcast and cool and windy still.
That's probably a good year for the boat to break down, right?
No, that's the case.
Oh, no, no, boat
Right, eh?
Well, before we got here, it's right.
If it's windy, you don't want to be on the lake at Waskasu, anyway.
Zero boat days missed so far.
So, I guess, you know, lots outfall, right, Dean?
It is, it is the one nice thing about going to northern Saskatchewan is you can't rely on it to be nice at all.
So the last four years, I think we had, like, uh, Aussie in-laws here four years ago.
They were wearing fleeces and tukes and, like, this is a summer vacation.
You guys are nutters.
Like are we north of 60 here?
And then the year after that, we had 30 straight for like seven days with sunshine,
not a ripple in the water.
It's perfect.
And then last year and this year,
been pretty mixed bag.
Not bad,
but certainly not all-time weather.
So you're right.
You never know what you're going to get.
This time of year,
it's like you could get five degrees.
You get 35.
So who broke the boat?
You said it was.
Okay.
So this goes back to last year.
I think last year we were up earlier in the year.
And the old man forgot to put the plugs back in the boat and was driving around.
but just took on a bunch of water.
He nearly sunk the damn thing,
but all that straight on the engine
carrying a few thousand kilograms of water
through one of the pistons for a loop or whatever.
So it missed all last summer getting worked on in a shop.
And then 10 hours into this year,
just died again.
Like, well, should we get a new boat?
I don't know.
It's got a new engine now.
This is a good time to have a boat.
It's a new engine.
Boom, done.
Boat, right?
Boats are great.
I can tell you, boat mechanic might be the job,
because no one expects anything from you.
You get mad at them.
And you're never out of work, right.
You work as much as you want.
Be as busy as possible.
Well, it's unfortunate.
So is there any chance of it being repaired while you're there?
Are you just no boy?
No, no.
She shut down for the year.
Yeah, we kind of came up with the understanding the boat was not in play.
So it is what it is.
But it's been lots of baseball and throwing the football and swimming out front of the lake to
Belgar.
Take the boys up to the hearts and catch some fish.
That is an idea.
If we get a flat day, we'll maybe dump into a cream there.
Looks at the heart like the cream.
The hearts are nice and small.
You can hide out, even if it's a bit of a wind.
You're okay there.
Don't go into cream.
Grandpa should take the boys fishing.
That's a great call.
Get these three turkeys off our hands.
You should hit the,
the pub.
I was going to ask you, if you were entrusted with the boys to take them fishing,
how well equipped would you be to take any,
fishing?
Well, I mean, I could definitely get in a boat and take people around, but I mean, casting,
reeling it in, that's, I don't know, I could probably fake it, but it wouldn't be great.
There'd be no expertise shared.
Getting some lures, would you be able to get some lures on the line?
I would find a tackle box somewhere in the cabin and hopefully no snags on the line.
Yeah, I don't know.
That's not, you know, it's all, how are the bugs?
You got the horsefly season, you got the, no bugs.
I tell you what, maybe it's the wind, but no bugs.
I'm quite impressed with the bug situation,
because when it's cool, it's usually not bad at all.
But if I can get my one round of golf in at the golf course.
The lobstick.
It's a hit.
Yeah, the lobster dropping.
You got to go to the lobstick?
You got to what?
It's Aski love here, do you know?
Yeah, he's dropping random.
Elth Bridge.
I do question my life decisions at times where I was spending.
What are you doing?
As an NHL player, I was in.
right where he is
hanging out for my summers.
Some people choose L.A. and
trainers and supermodels.
Wasas,
Sue.
Yeah. Well, you could have 17 degrees
in the shoveler. That's perfect.
Love it up here.
No, you have, do you,
because it's not your cabin anymore.
You got to stay.
I got a spot. There's a boat there.
Go use the boat. Doug's boat.
Doug's not home.
Didn't you gift to
to your parents? Like, that was another decision.
Like, what the hell was Red doing? Like, why are you giving stuff away?
They got a great spot.
They got a great spot.
Great boats. See, it's past tense.
I know. I was always wondering.
I don't know if we can go. I don't
don't you have a place.
Like, you bought a cabin up there.
How did you? Oh, you know, Doug's there.
So, uh, yeah, okay.
Oh, wow.
Seems weird. Seems a little interesting.
But, uh, well, there you go.
Doug, Doug, Dug's not there.
go up and use the Warner boat.
You can use the cabin, the boat, there's two.
You can have your big crew on the pontoon boat
with the music pumping and then have the ski boat.
Do some.
Is that the move?
We've been having that chat because this boat keeps dying.
It's like if the family,
if everyone's going to ante up a little dough to buy another boat,
is pontoon the move like at this age now,
I don't need to be barefooting or skiing hard.
Like, let's just go and have some contact.
What are you going out there for?
you or your kids because for you yes
the pontoon is a way to go for your kids they're
going to go what the hell are we doing what we need to
yeah they're good for two years then they're going to
want a bigger boat yeah they're going to want to surf
and piss around but
that's true like my brother said that
kukenosa and you walk down to the dock
there and there's
a hundred thousand dollar boats
as far as the eye can see
and you're going
why don't the two why don't like you're friends with
eight people that own with these boats
why didn't one of you
by a pontoon boat, a cruise boat, right?
Like, just can you not switch it up?
Anyway, if you can get two, then you're all set.
Yeah, man.
The pontoon is great, but you're right.
If you got kids, you know what, with your little buggers,
you can get away with it like a jet ski.
They could ski.
We've got a little inflatable zodiac.
And if we get a flat day, the motor's going on that thing.
Because friends of ours, they have, no problem.
They've got a jet ski.
And it's enough.
to a certain age.
Because they're just little guys.
For a certain age.
But then you're just trading it.
Yeah.
No, jet ski's in the National Park right.
You know that.
Come on now.
That's all right.
Apparently.
I've never seen one out here.
Apparently.
Ever.
Well,
T's and P's about the boat.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So are you out there by yourself or is there more family?
Like, how's this working?
Sister's crew?
grandparents.
My brother gets up in a few days
and the sister heads out.
So many people.
You're going to go put a tent over us
and sweep up the elephant dung.
It's a circus.
You're going to go to the boundary bog
and do the walk through the boundary bog?
Could do boundary bog.
What about a butter tart
from the halfway house?
You've got to go get a butter tart
from the snacks.
Yeah, tent hole, baby.
Yeah.
Is that the move?
He's so happy.
They're good.
Yeah, he is very happy.
This is better than being there.
You can just conjure up the memories by rolling out the names of all the place.
Oh, so good.
You want to go?
Not really.
So far.
Bugs.
I don't know.
How long it'd it take you to get there?
So on the old nation truck, you can, you know, you set the trip, but it has a timer on the trip, not just kilometers.
We were right around eight hours on the button, straight driving time.
And that was over maybe the recommended posted number the whole way by a significant margin.
So it's probably nine if you're behaving.
It's quite a long.
Eight hours if you're puffing it.
Definitely not going to speed limit.
Yeah, that's all right.
Refueled in Saskatoon, got some burritos and...
Burns pizza?
Did you get some birds?
No, burritos, burritos.
Burritos for a car ride.
That seems like a poor idea to me.
We needed something close that was on the way, and that's what we found first.
We were already lamenting, and you'll appreciate that it's glass half empty type of conversation, but that 8th of August, we're already a week into August.
August is flying by.
Summer's almost gross.
I saw that yesterday.
7th of August.
Like what the hell is happening?
It's going to snow soon.
Oh, the S words.
We're rolling.
Yeah, we rolled the snow tires out to the front of the shed.
Just get them ready.
Start pulling up the winter jackets from the...
I didn't well put these chairs away.
Start putting it away.
So what, do you have anything for the...
It doesn't seem like Rhett does.
I am very little as far as plans between now and kids back to school post Labor Day.
We have a week of hockey camp in Invermere where I'm going to be in Calgary half the week
and Jody and are going to switch places with the boys just so that we can get some work done.
And then other than that, we're in town.
We're hanging around.
This is it.
This is the end of the run.
Calvary were great on Friday night.
Yes, good.
Nice.
That was a three, three, no over forge.
That's a whole result.
They had one set piece.
Did you go?
Amazing.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And we sent Dean somewhere on Sunday.
No.
That's right.
Went to the Serg.
Did you?
Yes.
Yeah.
Look at us supporting local economy.
I had a great local.
It's a great local weekend.
Cavalry Friday, launch pad Saturday for like three hours, crushed it.
Yes.
And then the dogs last night.
kicking the snout out of Fort.
It's such a great ballpark.
There in the...
How do we not have one of those in Calgary?
Come on.
We don't have nice things.
Stop gifting cabins away and build us at ballpark, Red.
Let's go.
Yeah, we could...
I was there at the game last night,
and you guys wouldn't know this,
but back in the day, I was talking with Ken King
at one point,
and I'm like, I need some more to do with my life.
Yeah.
And he's like, you know what, Rhett?
I got something for you.
He's going to put me in.
with the bigwigs down at the dogs
be one of the
I don't know like a president G.
like working like groundskeeper
hauling the rakes around he was like you want to get
we could get involved with it.
Yeah we were a couple weeks too.
Oh darn it.
Stop up.
Yeah.
And I was sitting there.
Dean good vibes.
That would have been fun.
What's that?
He wants to know about the basketball again.
Now long weekends, right?
So people have plans.
They still got over 3,000 in there.
Wow.
And all 3,000 care a great deal.
They were loud.
They were on their feet.
They were roaring.
Serge win.
What was the score?
It was 86.
I got it here somewhere.
86 to, it was lopsided win.
Good.
Because it was Edmonton.
Yeah.
It was a lopsided win.
It got a little tight, tight.
Nine points, I think, at one point.
Because it was all Calgary.
So, yeah, now they're off to final four weekend.
But yeah, people loving it.
It's good for the city.
Look at you.
Getting out of your house.
It's so far to go, though.
He's going to Winnipeg.
It's so far to go.
Oh.
So far.
Got that ring road all ready to go there.
You can open this prick up.
Oh, I know.
When is that road?
Oh, the science.
I think it's probably ready a year ago, right?
Isn't that when it was supposed to be done?
That's cool.
COVID.
COVID, God.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Did you call in because you have a Pinder report?
because Dean was really fumbling his way through it.
It was awful.
I mean, this is, if this isn't a Pender report,
I don't know what this is right here.
Okay.
Well, I'll do the Pinder report while you're on here,
and you can react to it.
Sure, I love it.
You're just saying that the Eric Carlson deal is finally done,
and I don't know that Mike Greer got what he wanted in the end.
It was going to be, what, three first round picks,
and it was going to take a lot to get this Eric Carlson guy.
Did you know he's...
A hundred point defense.
Yeah, you guys got so many points.
You're going to have to pay to get him.
manageable cost for Pittsburgh at the end of the day as he becomes a penguin.
They give up a first rounder to the sharks.
The habs get in there.
They get a second rounder and some pieces move around.
But Norris Trophy winner goes to Pittsburgh.
One last hurrah, I guess, with Sid and Malkin and I guess that's what you do.
Latang says he's okay with it.
Oh, good.
Better be.
They got the Latang vote of confidence.
They've got an old coroner.
a small window. Why not max it out, right?
Like, go get it.
Four years left for Carlson on his
contract. 11.5 million
cap hit. Now,
one and a half million San Jose
retains and
Montreal jumps in
with another
chunk of it as well. So, didn't they take Petri
back or Petri?
Jeff. We don't need Petrie.
Yeah.
We got there to.
So, I don't know.
Anticlamatic.
kind of.
Well,
here's the thing.
Now that Carlson's moved,
I mean,
clearly all of the people let down
by not getting Carlson will be lined up to get Noah Hanof it.
This is easy.
Right.
Johnny.
Yeah.
All those first round picks they had ready to spend on Carlson,
just shuffle them over to Calhaw?
Get yourself in the Noah Haniffin business.
Or,
yeah.
It's pretty quiet.
It's pretty quiet over,
uh,
on Olympic way from what I understand.
It's pretty,
I was actually,
there was the one.
One thing I was interested in asking you guys, is anything going to take place?
But then I knew the answer was going to be no, hard to do a deep dive.
All the GMs are grabbing butter tarts at the snack halfway out.
That's right.
We got a lot going on.
We'd love to talk about trades.
We just cannot do it.
Somebody asked me the other days.
Honestly.
They're both coming like backland and these.
I'm told them they're all coming to camp at least right I think so it feels that way doesn't it yeah
so like like you said all along they cannot bring seven impending ufas they got rid of one to camp
didn't they how do we feel about six yeah six anyway how about six so that's i mean hey and i don't
blame conroy necessarily i think he's all right well i think if he'd like to grab an an anvil while
swimming yeah with sharks then he could yeah here hold this backpack oh it's right bricks
he's not not a lot of GMs doing him any favors and uh i mean noah hanifin good player
the best thing about an elite play the best thing about noah hanifin of his contract yeah
You can play 25 minutes.
Value deal.
That's what he is.
Matt Dumbach, Calgary Kid.
He signed with the Arizona Coyotes.
One year deal.
He'll make $3.9 million and then become a UFA again next summer when the dough comes rolling in.
Should get some ice time there, no?
Yeah.
Kind of surprise that end of the way it did.
They're cursed.
It's coming soon.
I don't know if it's this year, but it's coming.
by the time they're out of Phoenix
into another market they'll be good, right?
They strike me as a team
they're young, they're plucky, they're going to win some games,
but they'll probably have some
long skid or something.
If it wasn't for that nine game losing streak,
they could have flirted with a playoffs.
Loser goalie?
Carol Vimelke.
Carmel Ventimalka. It's all right.
All right. Does it really do it?
Does it? I bet you he had better numbers than
Markstrom last.
year safe percentage okay but that's not so yeah yeah anyway uh now this is going back a few days
but tom wilson washington capital seven year extension what six point five million per season
a lot of dough it's a lot of dough five for tom wilson i hope he likes the back nine 20 yeah how old
is he nice 28ish around there he's kind of
I'm looking at him up.
Yeah, Jack's going to find him.
He is one of those players, though.
There aren't many that fill the role that he does.
Every other team wants a Tom Wilson.
Yeah, until he's overpaid.
29.
29 years old.
Seven years.
He plays a rough brand of hockey.
You just told, if he can continue to the play the way he has in the past, I guess it'll be fine.
It's just those guys tend to run into brick walls and shit falls apart.
And I saw a lot of people.
Just tell Tom, not the age.
Yeah, he had 20 some points or whatever.
Yeah, it's not just about points.
If anything, I would say the points are kind of second or third on the depth chart there.
You got to have that grit.
You know how teams love paying for grit.
I don't know.
The other problem I have with this is that all those guys, they played with heart and blah, blah, blah.
And then they signed this big, massive I'm going to retire deal.
Yeah.
he doesn't hit like he used to i you know i don't like hitting as much anymore i feel like i don't
have to it hurts yeah i get injured my back hips everything hurts more when i seven when i hit
seven years ago milan luchich signed uh six million a year with the oilers is a power forward
in this prime yeah yeah i mean he finished pretty strong considering where he was early in that deal
at Edmonton, but doesn't he feel like a Milan-type player or that kind of agent
curve rat, a power forward with full term there practically?
100%.
100%.
And you're paying him for what he's done, not what he's going to do.
Pretty astute there.
I mean, you're drunk and high right now, but even still, pretty astute.
It's a good comparable.
Not yet.
Two nights ago, yeah.
CFL Calgary St. Peters.
I know you're a big CFL fan, Ryan.
Can I ask you, actually, can I ask you?
Because you're in Saskatchewan,
and there was a Saskatchewan Rough Riders game on the weekend.
Was it a, were the people at Waskasu captivated by the riders?
I've never seen less rider here.
There seems to be some apathy around it.
But if you ask them, they know what happened.
They're like, oh, yeah, I know that new quarterback.
That's it.
Oh, my God.
careful of John Bender who's going to start tweeting
how many people,
how attendance is up and rated TV ratings are up.
I saw Bender already letting you know that attendance is up
or TV ratings.
Less than 20,000 on a Friday night in Calgary
and good weather in the summer.
Yeah.
Okay.
Up from what?
Or is it from a last year?
I'm not going to argue with.
I am not arguing with Bender.
He can say whatever the hell he wants.
Yeah, I know.
He's a sweet boy, though.
They beat Toronto 20 to 7.
our boy Corey Mace comes in.
Can't get it done.
First home win of the season for the Stampeders.
Off to BC this week.
They are fourth in the West with a record of three and five are the Calgary Stampeders.
Hope Dave's okay.
They're like the flames.
They beat the good teams or lose to the bad teams.
Fair enough.
You were there, 3-0.
You mentioned it earlier.
Cavalry FC.
Good rivalry, right?
With the Forge FC and Cavalry?
They don't like each other.
Nope.
they get into the hooligans get involved right the uh the soccer hooligans
who are they called throwing their weight around uh shooting the dukes yeah shooting the old dukes
on the pitch are they fighting oh i think a war of words oh yeah you know i think it's tommy
tommy he came walking out the you know where they walk out they love them on the pitch and he's
beaking everyone he's a celebrity
do you how was he looking sharp yeah
it's unbelievable you just want to
Tommy look at me
yeah like I was just I wanted just a piece of his
attention you know me
you can play that thing jack if you want
or are you asleep or no more
no more
one boss yeah he needs another
red bowl or something
this is my set piece of
yeah look at this over in
oh is that good
Listen to the crowd.
So would you take the kids with boys?
Oh, he had 11 of us.
How Binder hooked me up.
Is that right?
Wow.
I don't know if it was Pinder so much.
Yeah.
So there you go.
Big three-nil win.
Love to see it.
You talk about the fans loving their team.
Yeah.
Right?
It was good.
I took kids that I had never gone to Saskers.
My nephews.
They were pumped.
They loved it for sure.
I, uh,
sports, guys, sports.
Thank you, Mason.
I challenge you to go to a game at Aco and not enjoy yourself.
Won't happen.
Can't happen.
It won't happen.
Beautiful.
We went to the one game.
It was snowing.
Not a great time.
Had a hell of a time.
That was the first ever game.
League history.
It was.
Uh, so what can we tell you?
With the wind, they leapfrog forged in a second,
just two points behind Pacific FC for top of the table.
they also are going to
Winnipeg on the weekend
that take on Valor F.C.
Next chance to see them home.
Sunday, August 20,
they will have York United
coming in.
So the next time to see those
luscious locks of Tommy Whelden Jr.,
not till the 20th of August.
You have to wait.
Let's, well, let's go.
Now, you were trying and it's hard
because I'm stupid.
You were explaining to me about
target score
and how in the C.E.B.L.
The basketball games, they all end in a, like a walkoff.
Let's, uh, let's go and see how this, uh, take you back to a Sunday at Winsport as, uh, the
surge looking to move on.
There it is.
So yeah, which is how it worked out.
Inside of four minutes, you tack on nine points.
First team to hit that number.
It was the surge.
Granted they did it there by way of a free throw.
And it was a lopsided.
game, but still
the, yeah,
it's just kind of looping itself now.
Again, the pride that these fans have
for that team, awesome.
On a long weekend, when
tons of people are out of town, over 3,000
made their way in.
So now it's the final four weekend.
The surge will play
the host Vancouver bandits
in the West Final.
Trouble. And the Niagara
River Lions play the
Scarborough Shooting Stars in the
East final.
We got to work on the names a bit.
Names aren't great.
I heard a great one last night.
Saskatoon is apparently getting a
ball team in the dogs.
Do you know what they're going to be called?
Did you hear this?
I saw it, yeah.
The Saskatoon Berries.
Oh.
Get it?
Because there's Saskatoon berries.
And this team is going to be the Saskatoon Berries.
And the logo is of the purple,
kind of a purple berry.
with his hair is kind of like the, you know, the thing on the top.
Awesome.
It's very good.
Love it.
Have fun.
The berries.
Yeah.
Got it.
It's not the river lions, but it's pretty good.
So the semis go.
Now, Vancouver is in, I guess, is the host team because they were well below 500 as far as their record.
They're brutal.
I think, let's go search.
These games have been on TSN.
Frickin Rod Black was Edwin Scott calling it the other day.
Come on.
Hey?
Rod Black, good guy.
Cal Cammy's been doing sideline work all year.
She's doing a great job for them.
Semis Friday, final goes on Sunday.
Watch the old TSN there.
Search.
So both games are in Vancouver?
It's all being the whole thing.
The final four weekend is all in Langley, Langley Bissy.
So if you want it to go on.
The old event center.
That's right.
That's right, Ryan.
And I'm sure there's other stuff going on.
morning, Calgary Roughnecks hiring Josh Sanderson as their new head coach.
Kurt Moloskey.
Jeff's brother.
No.
Is it?
I don't think, I don't think it is, but it might be.
Sanderson, hell of a, you know what, hell of a player back in the day.
Great.
Played three seasons with the roughnecks from 08 to 10, had 221 points and 36 games,
a member of the 09 championship team.
So he's bringing that championship pedigree back to Calgary to,
lead the roughness.
Let Pinder go.
This poor guy sitting on a park bench
and chewed on mosquitoes.
Bye, Ryan.
Is there,
you got bugs?
No bugs.
No bugs.
Just kids yell them and my wife's like,
Ryan!
So how many more days?
I think we're going to leave Saturday,
so whatever that leaves.
Jesus.
That's a long stay.
Jeez.
And you're starting to tent?
Sense of sun.
Sense of sun.
And now you're moving into a tent.
No tent.
where are you putting all these people?
How big is this cabin?
It's not.
We're in a park.
You can only have so much square footage.
It's just everyone's ramrodded in there.
You know how we do.
Do you know the tiny homes that are kind of in vogue nowadays?
They've been tiny homes in Waskasia.
Decades.
Yeah.
So after you, who's the most annoying person to put up with?
Oh, God.
I mean, we're all penders.
Christ.
We got, everyone's got a little twist on it.
Is everyone there?
No, my brother and his crew will show up.
Could you stay at, can you, oh, we lost him.
He faked, that he, hold up.
Oh, I lose you.
Oh, yeah, no, you're good.
No, yeah.
Can you stay at Uncle Herbs?
Yeah, go stay at Herbs place.
Can you stay at Uncle Herbs?
No, they're up right now.
What?
Say hi.
Come on.
Tell her about her.
said hi no uncle her he's well well we're good we got lots room here all right fine goodbye your phone
sucks goodbye ryan breaking up yeah love you bye there you go oh ryan pinder for you because i know he doesn't
miss anything does he's gonna you know what he's going to live to be a hundred and thirty years old
Yeah.
His, that engine is just going to keep running.
He'll never die.
He'll drive people crazy for 130 years.
Yeah, like if you're in the sports scene in Calgary,
you're going to have him around for ever, yeah.
Another 50 at least.
Yeah.
I don't know how it works.
And you?
Three, four families.
15, 20.
Yeah.
If I make it.
through the show. Call it a win.

And while you're up there, go by Madrose Pub.
There's no excuse.
We're both in town.
Clearly not a lot on our cooker.
We could probably head up for some pizza and
and wings and soup.
I haven't eaten today yet.
Madrose Pub, Royal Oak, 20 beers on tap.
Kid friendly Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
They've got that awesome outdoor patio.
They've got these, they got flaps on it.
So if it's not nice,
it can close the flops.
but you're still kind of, and then if it's nice,
they open the flaps and she's beauty.
She's a beaut, Clark.
Great food, great service, great people.
15 Royal Vista Place.
You can get some takeout if you're interested.
madrose.
dot pub is the website, but why wouldn't you go?
Some of the best people going.
It has that, it just has that feel like,
I feel like I've been here.
This is good.
Awesome people.
Madrose Pub.
I'm looking at the, isn't there usually a special of the day?
See today's specials.
She's Tuesday.
You already got it memorized?
Well, no, I'm trying to remember.
It feels like it's, is it wings today?
Daily soup and sandwich.
Yeah, there's the three.
They got their daily specials.
Top and pizza.
Six on steak, same.
Oh, Monday.
Wings.
Wings.
Tuesday's wings.
Do you like wings?
I do like wings.
Yeah.
But I did wake up this morning saying you're a fat, disgusting mess.
You should take better care of yourself.
Not that wings are an issue, but just in general.
Yeah.
I'm kind of back into the fat clothes again.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I had done pretty well there for a while.
Jeez.
All of my clothes don't fit.
I'm going to have to go and buy some smaller sizes.
I feel and look great.
I am so fit.
Now it's.
I glad I didn't throw those.
Christ didn't throw them out.
and we can get into these, but, ooh, these are much more comfortable.
Yeah.
We'll show this here.
I'm not even going to pass it.
Maybe it's the shoveler, but I got it, we got another video.
And actually Pinder sent this one to me.
So I'm not, maybe this is somebody at the Pinder cabin.
Maybe this is Pinder's mom.
Because we've been telling you about outdoor dental, Dr. J. Patel, how you go change your life.
You got these, if you're a snor.
then we can get you a couple 15 minute treatments and we can change your entire life and for people
around you. This is somewhere in the Pinder Cabin, I guess. So this will mean more if you're
watching it because there's some video accompaniment.
It took me a minute. This is a woman who is snoring and somebody is like swinging a toy plane
through the shot.
It's not bad.
That's really good.
Go and get your life figured out.
Two 15-minute treatments.
Increase the tension and the soft palate reduces snoring
because that's where it happens.
That's where you get that stuff.
Non-surgical, it's pain-free.
You'll be comfortable, relaxed.
Why do it any other way?
Dentistry with no needles, no drills, no stress.
The website is outdoor.dental.
And the doc is Dr. J. Patel.
Good guy.
I bet you he's,
he's fit.
He's not having to worry about pulling out his fat clothes.
He's,
you know, he's never had to buy any.
Yeah.
Probably hiking and doing like curls and stuff at the same time.
Active.
Stopping for,
I'm going to just have a drink and maybe fire out some squats.
Not,
not walking by the fridge at 10.30 at night,
making an absolute meal.
Like, not a snack,
not a bite, but two plates.
Not rubbing his knees.
Jeez, did I.
I guess I was just sitting wrong.
Oh, man.
Outdoor dental.
Dr.
Jay Patel, in all honestly, this snoring thing, it works.
We've had a bunch of our people show up and ask, get more details about it and take the, get the consultation done and get the treatment done.
Your hoops down there.
Let's go.
Two 15-minute treatments can take, why sleep apnea.
You don't need to live with this stuff.
You don't need to live with it.
It can be better.
And it will be better.
feel like shit all day.
Yep.
Why would you do it?
Outdoor dental.
We'll do some Betway coming up.
Should we call Conroy?
I mean, we got to talk hockey.
We can phone say, what's the weather like?
Like, you're back.
How's the jet leg?
Check in.
Make sure.
No.
It's like you said with noodle.
You don't want to bug him.
No, it's his family.
I'm sure he loves to hear from us.
But maybe like.
I don't see.
Yeah.
I'd love an excuse.
I'd love a phone call right now.
Who would be the,
who would be someone that you could call right now that you know what answer?
Because I don't have a lot of those people.
No.
And I mean,
they're screening my calls.
I sent out a bunch of texts this morning.
I can't even get.
Nothing back.
Yeah.
No.
Just crickets.
Yeah.
Oh.
I even worded them better than I usually do.
Usually I'm very four.
words and to the point.
Maybe the cell tower is down.
Must be.
It must be something with the cell towers.
Your phone working, Jack?
Yeah.
Can't rely on anybody nowadays.
Got a little something here for you.
And it's for our friends over at McLeod Law.
Peter Klein and his and all the folks,
Austin,
everybody over at McLeod Law,
they are, again,
great people who do great things for other people.
You think we'd pick up the hint.
We're getting close to a lot of these people.
Yeah, we're right there.
Almost doing good things.
Peter Klein of McLeod Law, he's that personal injury guy, right?
But did you know he's also the go-to guy in Calgary for your disability insurance claim?
If your long-term disability insurance company is refusing to pay insurance benefits, contact Peter.
Get them on your side.
He'll get you the disability benefits you paid for and that you deserve.
He'll get you that peace of mind.
Just knowing that you have Peter Klein and McLeod Law on your side, you just kind of, awesome.
I don't need to worry about any of this anymore.
Thanks, Peter.
That's how you'll feel.
MacLeod-law.com is the website.
Now, this is not a day in flames history,
but it's a, you know what, for us,
because he's a great guy, beloved, one of our buddies,
August 8th, 1977,
the Los Angeles Kings signed free agent forward Charlie Simmer.
Simmer.
Now, at the time, no, it wasn't a big deal.
Simmer had played 80 games,
over three seasons with the California seals and Cleveland Barons,
appeared in three games for the Kings in 77, 78, after the trade.
Three games, no points.
It's all right.
Following season, January, Simmer put on a line with Dave Taylor and Marcel Dion.
In that first game, Dion scores four goals,
and the Kings defeat Detroit seven to three.
Simmer, respectable, but he didn't start.
He had to got brought up part of it.
38 games, 48 points, 21 goals, decent.
We should keep these guys together.
Triple Crown Line is born.
7980, Simmer broke out with 56 goals and 101 points.
He'd score 56 again the following season.
Consistent.
Yeah, and put up 105.
He was the first left winger in league history to post back-to-back seasons of at least 100 points.
And in that 80-81 season, he did.
Dion and Taylor became the first line in NHL history where all three topped 100 points.
Taylor had 112, Dion 135.
And it was a triple crown line.
And there's some good video.
This is, I mean, we just some stuff we can kind of show you.
There are some funny stuff.
They, when you're in L.A., you know, you're hobnobbing with the who's who.
The Illuminati.
They were singing songs and doing TV bits.
doing the TV weather and stuff.
So if you're looking for a little something to do,
you can find some,
some goofy stuff.
I just remember talking to Charlie.
And Charlie is, you know what he is?
He is a true gentleman.
He is one of the game's most gentlemanly guys.
You love Charlie Simmer.
Haven't seen him forever.
Got to hook up with Charlie again.
But he was, he would, and stories for days.
For days.
Stories for days.
It's going to be.
the saddest part moving forward those are gone yeah first for a few reasons i don't think that the kids
play nowadays have the ability or the want to create the stories that those guys did yeah and you get
absolutely ripped if you do do it yeah and charlie's such a gentleman it's not like he's hey i got to tell
you this story it's just that over time well there there was a time let's sit and have a beer and
have a bullshit.
Well, we were at the Playboy Mansion.
What's that?
What?
No disrespect.
It's not Mad Rose pub.
Oh, we were just at Mad Rose, you know, Matt had some wings on Tuesday.
No, we just Playboy Mansion and Huff.
Heff was kicking around.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, we were walking down the beach in the same suits from the game the night before,
just came back to practice the next day, barefoot walking in the sand.
Marcel Dion.
Yeah, played with Marcel.
Yeah.
Carried him.
And that trade, so again, the trade, or I guess the signing on this date in 1977.
One of the best lines in NHL hockey history.
McLeod Law, proud of their hockey and their Calgary roots.
Big part of what it is, their longstanding client relationships.
They understand the city.
They understand people in the West.
People that live here and work here.
like the communities that they serve,
McLeod Law team is varied and diverse,
share a commitment to making a positive impact on the city of Calgary
and whatever it is,
we're talking about personal injury,
but whatever your legal need is,
at any given time,

and it's quick,
McLeodlaw.
I'm sure I did some realtors off there.
Cloud dash law.com.
That's their jingle.
You design it.
McLeod dash law.
No.
dot com.
That'll be $500.
I gotta wait here.
We got a meeting at noon.
What?
Yeah.
Says whom?
It's August.
Well, we got to,
it's a sales thing.
No,
I'm not a salesperson.
Well.
You don't want to muddy the waters.
You're going to stay in your lane.
Yeah.
That's the thing with this thing, though.
we don't really have staffs of people doing stuff.
Jack,
you sit in for me?
Jack,
how sales looking?
Can you sit in for like?
Yeah?
Yeah.
Got anything on the hook?
No.
No, hey.
Got any leads?
No.
Coffee's for closers, Jack.
Christ.
Yeah, and I got to pick my kid up.
My kids,
the kid that you're so pumped to,
to wrestling?
Yeah.
He's working,
he's working full time,
so four days a week.
today was day four of the four day swing he gets up early not good not good dragon today
does he does he go to bed early he's pretty disciplined that way because he knows how painful it is to
be tired and have to go through it yeah that's right i don't want to be like dad dad did that for a long
time and look how he bringing ended up so yeah he's uh but i got to do i go home
And then come back to get them or do you just stick around here?
I got a feeling you should go for a nice meal.
Yeah.
Or there's that gym down the street there.
You could go.
Yeah, go get some, some sweat.
Do some, uh, some sweating.
Some burpees.
Really?
We got immediate, like, do we have to be it?
Yeah.
I do.
This one, yeah.
You, you more than anybody, really.
Because you have connections.
You are a big swing and deep.
Yeah, you can tell, but people,
your phone is blowing up.
It just doesn't stop buzzing.
If you would like to be a part of the Barnburner family,
sponsorship opportunities available.
Afterburner and whatever it is you want.
Jingles.
jingles.com.
We'll do it.
We'll get you a part of the,
be a part of the show.
But yeah, we're going to kick in back.
I guess we shouldn't say.
Yeah, be careful.
In case we promise a week.
At some point, we'll be back to five days a week.
full swing and doing the whole thing again.
You know what we need to do?
In all honesty, because no, how many, we need some feedback from the listeners to say,
go get this guy on.
I want to hear stories.
I did do that.
This guy.
They want Jerome and Kipper.
You should get Jerome on.
Why don't you talk with Jerome?
Come on.
Should get Jerome on.
Big.
It's selfish.
Yeah.
Text him right now.
I think he's having a good summer?
He ever had a bad one?
I was going to say.
You know what, though?
He's so disciplined that it probably hasn't changed in 40 years.
Like he's just still getting up and training every day.
Yeah.
Eating, having an apple at this time and running the bike for this long.
And going to count these.
Okay, we can have seven calories here and 20 later.
Hey, what's happening?
Oh, just having some bird seed and a shake.
Yeah.
He lives on a lake and apparently has never been on the water as a boat, but doesn't use it.
I respect that, though.
Oh, there's the boat.
Should we go out boating today?
Feels like a lot of work.
Feels like a lot of work.
But, uh,
expensive to you.
Yeah.
Let us know what you.
I mean,
year number one.
And there's,
we got some things that,
uh,
to announce and different things are going to be changing as we get,
uh,
as we get into fall.
But year one,
pretty happy.
Raise some money for charity.
Numbers have been good.
Who should have the number?
That's right there.
I know.
We're good people.
between the views on YouTube and the audio download.
It's funny how many people watch it on YouTube.
I've talked to a number of people
who didn't even know that there was audio to download.
Oh, I just, your YouTube show,
which is not really,
wasn't really what we were thinking at the start.
It's not.
We're going to do a podcast, and I guess we'll do some video.
Now it's kind of a very video-centric thing,
making Jack work over there.
Yeah, look at him go.
He's giving her.
Awesome play.
Another go-getter.
Wipe that sweat from your brow, Jack.
We've talked a little bit today.

He's the only guy.
The oddest man I've ever met about that.
Goes out for lunch, has a five beer lunch,
and oh, I got a massage in 50 minutes.
I guess I should go.
You're full of food at IPAs.
Now you're going to go lay in your belly for an hour.
Makes no sense.
He is such a, how did,
don't know.
Hated him at first.
Now I'm just confused by it.
I think that's what it is with everybody.
when you encounter pinners
she's i can't stand this guy
i guess i don't hate him i just
don't have any idea what makes him tick he's confusing
no friggin idea
uh
what are your plans jack for the rest of the summer
like what do you got going on because you were just a way down and
going to pittsburgh no i'm taking her easy now
july was a blur
was in white fish stamped
stampede
and i was at the island at the
lake, so now I'm taking it easy.
The island.
The island boys.
Vancouver Island.
The family has a place?
Yes, for my mom and my stepdad live.
Nice.
Very nice.
All over the world.
You're hard to figure out.
You've been around for months and months, and I still have so many questions.
Maybe we should have asked more questions.
That's good, though.
You seem all right.
I'm okay.
Yeah, you seem somewhat trustworthy.
He was looking a little.
Now, what is it you and RJ are talking about doing?
You want to change things up in here?
Yeah, I want to add some, you know, we got to fix some things, make it look a little better.
What do you talk about?
What do you mean?
So many cords.
I'm not sure.
I wish people could see the setup we have.
This is much better.
Yeah, this is much better.
All right.
But I feel like in terms of things looking, I feel like this is as good as it gets right now for what we have in here.
Correct.
So I'm all for change and upgrading.
I would just like to make sure that when we do move,
the upgrade is ready.
That it's not going to be us against a blank wall again.
Oh,
we got some stuff with signage,
we got some things coming in.
You know what I mean?
That won't happen.
Because it's year two coming up.
Big year.
Huge year.
Can't take a backward step, Jack.
This RJ guy, too.
keep an eye on them retro well this is why i try to stay out of these meetings there's kids i don't
shit it's kids let's do some betway bets bett we bets and uh we'll let everybody get on with your day
let everybody get to doing what you booking your your golf getting to see dr jay
lose some golf balls yeah bellway bets it is the toronto blue jays and the cleveland
guardians which still is weird still weird still weird
Toronto, I believe it's four in a row.
They've got Cacucci on the mound.
Your buddy, you say Cacucci, who last three has an ERA of 1.04.
It's been pretty good here.
Zipping it.
I'm going to say J's minus 1.5 gets me a plus 125 in the cleave.
So get your Betway app and your phone.
Loving the Betway.
Bet the responsible way with Betway makes your life
more entertaining. Be responsible, of course, but get Betway into your life. Get the app on your phone,
follow along, play along. They got all kinds of pre-built bets and stuff in the app.
New York, you can 19 years of age and over. But our gaming partners, Betway, back in the fold for
year two. They're back in for year two. Why wouldn't you be? Be like Betway. That's what I would
suggest. Is that a, I think it's a dog.
injured dog.
They got some doggy daycare down.
Oh, that's right.
They got that.
Yeah, it's quite a parade in the morning.
And now, correct me,
there's one this way and then I saw a sign for one that's going to be.
Yeah,
I think there's one over that way.
So apparently the dog business.
Thriving.
Very good.
Yeah.
The dog business is big.
So you guys want to put us against that wall.
You can't.
I didn't really think about that.
Like,
do you think people can hear this right now?
I don't know.
For sure.
Nobody's listening, so it doesn't.
Nobody listening.
I don't think you can go there with all,
and with all the construction that happens in this place.
Yeah,
we can put up like some soundproof.
Oh,
geez.
Oh, yeah.
That's going to happen.
I've got lots of funds for everything.
Get some sound proof.
Build the sound proof.
Whatever that.
Oh,
you know,
we'll get some soundproof,
you know,
my kind of plan.
I sound,
I'm,
hey,
I'm convinced.
You've got,
I'm in.
Let's start right now.
Why,
what are we waiting for?
Yeah.
We got time before this meeting starts so we can get some of that.
I'm hungry so we can go get food before the meeting.
Okay.
Well, how are we doing for time?
What time?
Well, no, it's, I mean, it's supposed to be.
Yeah, but we can grab takeout or something.
Right.
So tomorrow Thursday.
No.
What?
Tomorrow's Wednesday.
I'm saying tomorrow and Thursday.
We are going to roll out.
Now, you weren't part of this.
Ryan Pinder.
This is a one-on-one.
Oh, I know he was mad.
He was mad at you.
And you did get caught.
Caught what?
That you tried to cancel the interview.
Well, Pinder was all over me to be involved in the interview.
Yeah.
I couldn't be involved in the interview.
So I called Curtis Glenn.
Curtis.
We do it a different day.
And then Pinder got mad at me for changing his schedule.
Well, it was the Glenn Cross interviews canceled.
And her eyes, what do you mean?
Curtis just texted me asking for the address.
So they were saying, you know, lost in translation, I guess.
Somewhere there.
But thank goodness, Ryan did get a chance because that's what we're going to have for you
tomorrow and Thursday.
This, I got thinking about it afterwards.
Columbus Blue Jackets, Anaheim, Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary.
This guy at the end of the day,
Kidnesley.
Born to be a flame.
Really?
Born to be.
This is, this is Glenn.
cross country country for sure nowhere else he'd rather be didn't want to leave doesn't want to go
anywhere this is this is home could have made millions more probably could have made millions more
if he would have just stayed on the bike for a few more weeks but ah fuck it what are you going to do
I'm home there's chores to do to hell with it but yeah and I don't know if late bloomer
who, of course, plays in the upper junior league
and then plays in the end.
It took a little while. And then all of a sudden,
like, where is this Glencross guy been? He's flying around.
He's hitting everybody. He's meat,
kind of a nasty little prick out there.
You want to have one of these guys in your team.
A little horseback ride with Ken King.
Signs up.
It's kind of a legendary story in a way.
Ken King, well, you'll hear it.
They'll talk about it. So tomorrow part one
and Thursday, part two
of Curtis Glenn Cross.
sitting in with Ryan Pinder.
I didn't get it canceled, so I hope he did okay.
You tried, he tried. See, and if it was,
we'd be doing something.
Yeah. Thank God. Where to go, Pender.
Thank God for Pender. I keep saying that.
It's going to do it from the Tower Chrysler Studios.
Have a great rest of your day.
Get some plans for the rest of the summer.
Let's not, let's not get to September and be like, oh, shit.
Didn't get much done.
I haven't done anything.
Should have done more.
So get on it.
Chop, chop.
It's going to do it. See you, buddies.
