They're doing good things for people. The inaugural roar and explore event is coming up in just a couple of weeks. Saturday, August, the 26th, the little show and shine. They got a car show. They wanted to do something for a while.

They decided, let's just do it. It's time to let's get this thing rolling. Celebrating the history of Mopar, Dodge, Ram, Jeep, Chrysler, if you have yourself a vehicle you'd like to get in, 20 bucks, all of the money raised going to the Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids charity, which is awesome. They'll have best in show. There's not different prizes.

They're going to have raffles. Food truck going to be there. going to be putting a bunch of their vehicles. They've got some classics and obviously some new ones. Even my friendships, I'm starting to question. Apparently, there's friendships, but there's summer friendships. And the allotment of time varies depending on the seasons. Do you know what I mean? Some terrible.

Rob Kerr was there signing autographs. Was he? Oh yeah, he's, he's part of the surge there. He does some, he doesn't look like a baller to me. He's very tall. He's very tall.

He's tall, but not. He's the chairman of the board. Would you call them very tall? For me, everybody else is very tall. You're very tall, except for Jack. Jack's not that tall. But I'll Kerr was there. Yeah, I went to Surger off to the final four in the C.EBL.

And we just, we were more structured with our past gig and no, you know what it is? I think, well, you're hard to nail down. Oh, for, he's the, the exact opposite and it's fine. And I actually chuckle about it because he'll just start, you know,

in his way of, and he's got the sketch. and he wants to know the schedule and he's asking me about a schedule and I'm saying I don't have a schedule. Don't bug me about a schedule. I think what it is is in this thing that we're doing that he's kind of taken ownership on that because I'm not good at that. There's other things that I do and whether or not I do them well, but that I handle. The schedule isn't really one of them. So I think he's kind of taken ownership that for this group, our company needs to. Yeah, our conglomerate.

So rather than, than combat them, we'll just, they're high up in the mountains, we'll just leave them because it'll snow soon enough. It's going to rain and that's what my depression. Wow. It's kind of a, but I'm not, I'm taking the, I can't worry what the fires are, but rather

they were out. But I'm like, he's damn right. It's going to snow any day. Yeah. Snow soon enough. Yeah. Like we're going to be in September and we're going to see some of those white flakes coming out of the sky.

we're going to freak out. Now, don't take this the wrong way. But if you were that politician or whatever, it's going to snow soon enough. We're just not going to worry about it. That feels like that would be a very ret approach. It's going to snow sometime. Can't control me?

You know, what am I supposed to do? It's already August. What are we supposed to do? What are we supposed to do? Suffer through a couple more months or weeks will be fine. Yeah. But every, you see some people on the wind. When's home?

hockey start. When are we getting to hockey season? Shush. Shush. There's no rush. Well, the big dope, the kid that won't be around. And now we know which kid. He, uh, he's got five games in the month of August. Wow. And my brother's like, that seems a bit idiotic. And then I started thinking about it. I'm like, yeah, that's, that's beyond stupid.

Like, we don't have enough time when it's shit out and we can't be outside that we can spend it in the rink one of my kids buddies he's off to the a j leaves this week yeah where's you go boyd oh thanks bobcats is that what they're called yeah there's a couple more going to uh cameras cameras i believe it is yeah you got to go this week the hell's going on this what i guess you know meet your billets and get that stuff figured out but i'm kind of with you this is still you should be on a boat somewhere. Yes. Well,

see, and that's what my, so in Calgary, if you're in the hockey world with children, you're pissed right off because tryouts start like the day school starts.

So come middle of August, if your kid thinks he's a superstar, he's got to be on the ice every day, right? Got to be in shape. Yeah. To be. And for all the other kids have been on the ice all summer,

they're already behind. So you can hardly risk sending your kid to cap for tryouts. If they haven't been skating, so summer you lose half a month. Well, down where I was, they have the tryouts in the spring. Oh, that's great. Yeah. Don't have to.

Yeah, but they start August 20th. I'm like, is that what they do? That makes no sense. Yeah. You're supposed to gain that time. Yeah. I thought you get the whole summer. It's great.

We got a team picked. You're on a team. I've wondered about that sometimes when you, because nothing's 100%. everybody's going to have benefits and drawbacks and all that. But I wonder about tryouts in spring. It does seem odd. So here's the, because now I've done both.

So the benefits to it, you know the kids are all in shape at the end of the year. The parents don't have to spend guillions of dollars trying to put their kids into camps. And you're comfortable. You're going to start date. Teams made. Let's give her. Well, when you're eight and four months go by, there are many things that change.

You can make some big gains, even if you're 10 or 12, like four months is a long time in your life. So you can become a better player. All of a sudden, you go to camp in the fall and you're not on the team you want to be on. You're like, I don't even get a chance here.

I put in all the work all summer. I worked all summer. Come on. Yeah. So you hold the tryouts in the spring. two lines, four defensemen, one goalie. If you're not in that group, you have a tryout in the fall. We're going to try out for the last, if you're going 15 skaters, last five skaters.

Because you're right, in a lot of ways you could probably, without even, without tryouts, going into the next year, if you're one of the coaches or if you're in that, that group, you could probably know who's going to be on which team, on those higher level team. anyway and then as the other one that gets harder obviously as it filters on down maybe you have those tryouts in the fall I don't know all I know is that it's August and you'd best enjoy it because not

before long it's just going to be hanging with Jack every frigging day they're like a daily basis with this D-Gen I'm starting to figure your shit out too by the way what do you mean coming in here with your eyes all bugged out

drinking all night I'm not that bad. I cleaned up a couple weeks ago. I was in here. Nothing going on. Listen, we're a family. You need to talk after the show. Start taking the garbage and doing recycling and stuff.

It's like there's a lot of, holy Christ. Yeah, that got pretty bad. There was about 50 monster energy drinks. If you have to shotgun like three monsters. It's just to get your day. That was like months. though. Maybe you've cooked

the goose a little too much. What is your monthly budget on on monster drink? Like 20 bucks a week. BS. Because what are those worth? Three bucks each. You're only having them here. One a day.

You have the audience. automatic setting. Wait, because your kid, I know your kids. And he's a jokester. And that little shithead is going to get your phone one day. And he's going to jack that up or turn it off. And you're, he's a jackass,

but he's also stupid. So he'd need to be able to get in there and figure it out. But these, this set that I've got the, it's the, the Phonac, I believe is what's. The Phonac 500?

There it is. I got my app. I don't, well, I don't have them in right now, so I can't show you. But you get in there, it's got, are you watching a movie? Are you in a public place? Are you in a loud sporting event? So when I was at the surge game the other day, well, I got to put it on this special setting.

Perfect. There it is. Isn't that some. Unbelievable, these things. If you're used to wearing what it's become for me, it's not about wearing hearing aids. It's like wearing your earbuds, your airport, whatever you wear to listen. I'm just wearing these headphones to listen to life. to hear you better and all of that.

And it totally works for me. And I miss it now if I forget about them because it's still not in that routine. Oh, shit, I forgot to put the things in. And it's like, yeah, this, like even listening right now, muted. Very low, very, that sort of thing. These things give you the, hey, how's cool. Hey, hey, get a load of me. Maybe it can do the same thing for you.

And not a laughing matter. No joke. I've told you about this. And it's way too oversimplified. But there are issues. Neurologically, there's a lot of serious health risks with not getting your hearing checked or having the proper hearing aid if you need it. And it's not everybody's going to have hearing aids. It's going to be different ways to go on about it. But for me, it was just the way to go. It's made a big difference. I can't strongly, strongly recommend go and get in there. Have them check it out for you. They are the best.

And then Raw is in Winnipeg on Monday. So we're going to do both. Wow. Smackdown on the Friday. And then we're going to zip out to Winnipeg for for the Raw. Because they have two different. If you're on Raw, you're not on SmackDown. Winnipeg for something.

You don't go to Winnipeg for something. Yeah, you don't just go to Winnipeg for something. You don't do that. That's not really how that works. But, uh, so yeah, I'm, uh, dad of the year right now. Main events? Uh, well, they kind of, it's, I know, I don't know. I'm not even followed enough of it.

My understanding is that, uh, the tribal chief is going to be here, which would be a big deal. Uh, because, uh, the universal champion, the tribal chief, Roman Reigns isn't at all the Smackdown. He's not, he's a champion. He doesn't have to do that. He's been, it's over. a thousand days, three years, he has been the champion. So he kind of calls his own shots.

There's big stuff going on with the bloodline. Uso's. Really? I don't want a spoiler, but if you didn't see SummerSlam on the weekend. Oh boy. You may want to catch a replay. Yeah. So with any luck, Roman Raines will be there, but by the kids, big time into LA night. This is a big new

So it missed all last summer getting worked on in a shop. And then 10 hours into this year,

Now, this is not a day in flames history, but it's a, you know what, for us, because he's a great guy, beloved, one of our buddies, August 8th, 1977, the Los Angeles Kings signed free agent forward Charlie Simmer. Simmer. Now, at the time, no, it wasn't a big deal. Simmer had played 80 games,

over three seasons with the California seals and Cleveland Barons, appeared in three games for the Kings in 77, 78, after the trade. Three games, no points. It's all right. Following season, January, Simmer put on a line with Dave Taylor and Marcel Dion. In that first game, Dion scores four goals, and the Kings defeat Detroit seven to three. Simmer, respectable, but he didn't start.

He had to got brought up part of it. 38 games, 48 points, 21 goals, decent. We should keep these guys together. Triple Crown Line is born. 7980, Simmer broke out with 56 goals and 101 points. He'd score 56 again the following season. Consistent. Yeah, and put up 105.

He was the first left winger in league history to post back-to-back seasons of at least 100 points. And in that 80-81 season, he did. Dion and Taylor became the first line in NHL history where all three topped 100 points. Taylor had 112, Dion 135. And it was a triple crown line. And there's some good video.
