And how does that relate to... Stupid games? Oh, I see. Yeah. Well, when you talk about stupid and you talk about July 4th for Jack, we put together a little montage. It's a quick one, but it's a couple of our favorites from over the years.

Now, the daytime fireworks is another move, right? It's usually for when there's some sort of darkness, you could really appreciate the fireworks, but can't wait that long. Oh, man, that's good stuff. 24 hours of the day. What you doing, tear? What you do, tear? Oh, Lord, Ter.

well, you know, Ryan asked me, I kind of said I would go. I'm not sure. Get to Whitefish, Jack. Yeah, let's get out there. Get out there, man.

Honestly, there's no debate here. Get down there. Your best stampede weekend can still happen from Monday to next Sunday. Yes, it's almost better. This 4th of July weekend in Whitefish? Oh, my God.

This is how you start a bender right here. I had 41. One core's light. That's right. You cross the border, get a thousand at like a nickel each. Yeah, don't fly on this side. Fill the bathtub with ice. Put them all in there.

Crack about a thousand. Play that shotgun game. And then head down to Main Street. Get one of those mini pool things, the blow-up pools. Fill it with ice and a little bit of water and throw all your beer right in there. Just sitting there with it. It's the beer jack soup. It'd be awesome.

Oh, delicious. I'm starving. It's my favorite. Especially when it's hot out. It's not hot out here, though, eh? Do you think we'll ever have one weather again? Have you seen the 14-day forecast? We're going to be 30 or 10 days in a row.

If we can get through this last little bit here, no, no, because we'll go from too wet and cold, and then it'll be forest fires and smoke and we'll be able to go outside. I thought about going. But the issue I had was I actually looked at Googled Calgary Flames this morning and went on the website. And then I clicked the development camp. And it said, on ice evaluation. Mm-hmm. What does that entail? Well, you observe and evaluate.

Like, are they? I remember when I was doing a practice. Working for the farm team. And the development camps has gotten a little fat and sassy. So we're covering it. And it was Jay Feaster's first. And he's like, I want physicality. If you're a, show us how you play.

If you're physical hit people, if you fight, fight people. It was like, we're done with this nonsense. Let's bleep and go. And then a couple guys got into you're like, okay, we got to dial this back a bit again. It's just the summer skates. Some guys have been off ice for, you know, recovered from the end of the season.

Other guys have been skating and practicing. This is usually a bunch of drills. And then they have one scrimmage at the end, but you really got to want it. Pike and RJ will be there shooting B-roll on the weekend. Our boys. We'll get them, boy. We got it covered.

Woo! Maybe I won't. Yeah, they got you covered. They definitely weren't worried about you covering it for them. I had a camera ready. It's some, right. Some microphones. Did you get some of that?

Except, Red calls it brool. He didn't know that it's all. D-roll. I'll go get some broil. Yeah, I got the Braves camp. How many brawes do we need? I got some great brawl for you. You're going to, you're going to have to just love it.

Upload it and get into it. Well, Pinder, how we doing? you were, you were, so walk us through, you go to Vegas, you're doing the Vegas thing. Yep.

We did the Friday night show, and then haven't seen you sit. So walk us through the near week in the life of Pinder that is fall. Yeah, so got down Tuesday night, Vegas was smoking hot. It was like the oven on warm

when you walked out of the casinos. It's like, oh, but you could dry clothes here in five minutes if you came out of the washing, it was hot, but everything's air conditioning. They did they, awesome at the circuit.

They put us up there that stadium swim sports book. Insane. Just nuts. Like four story screen, pools, people, blackjack dealers in bikinis, whatever you want. It's all there,

Dino, all there. Good stuff. Shows are good. Todd Button on, which was great. Cammy, sneak attacked on the second day, talked about some of the Western League kids.

We had a good little run. And then live show, I thought was a ton of fun. I know RJ was like going mad, trying to frame us all. But other than that, I thought it was a slam dunk. Nearly had rat.

Yeah. I mean, the idea of having Rett was there, right? Wasn't it? I was there. Yeah. Faulty, I needed a better microphone. Yeah, that's what I want. So anyway.

After the live stream, I got invited to some piano bar with an old co-worker, which of course, right, dueling pianos. And then I hadn't seen him in years. So he slides a hundo to the dueling pianos. I'm on stage singing chantilly lace and get back to the table. Your flight's been canceled. I'm like, what the, God death. No.

No. Chantilly lace, pretty face. Pony tail hanging out, wiggle and walk, Google and talk. Makes it a way around, around. You know, like, go to. Yeah. Big got girl.

Maybe I'm so funny. Make me spend my money. I'm familiar with this. Maybe I'm real loose like a long neck goose saying, oh, baby, that's what I like. So bring down the house. People are roaring. Unbelievable.

Have the time of my life. Old pal, I've seen him in years. It's going to be tough to leave tomorrow. Right. It could be tough to get on that plane. Buzz kill. Buzz kill. So I'm like, okay, I'm screwed probably. But I'm extra screwed if I leave this even like 10 extra minutes.

So I immediately booked the first flight that actually makes sense. They were trying to fly me through New York. Like, no, I'm not flying through New York. I didn't get you back by Sunday morning. What are you talking about? I leave it like Saturday at 8 a.m. What are we talking about here? So I find through Denver for like $1,100 bucks one way.

But I'm like, okay, it gets me home. It's just money, right? Yeah. Right. Seems like a reasonable cost. That's what I told the boss in Eminson, too. I said, it's just money, right? So booked through.

Glenn Cross was on the flight. Good to see him. And then immediately got home, watched the last 10 minutes of Canada, Chile, and Copa America and then hit the road up to Windermere and spent the weekend with the family, who didn't resent me being in Vegas for five days at all. Good. Good. It's supportive of your hard work.

Uh-huh. Yeah. Providing. You're providing for the family. You're doing a hell. job, right? It's correct. Yeah, I'm kind of, not really any of those, but sure, yeah, the efforts, its idea of it is there.

So, yeah, and then tomorrow fly to Seattle to watch the Jays, living the dream, baby. Okay. Taking the kids, you know? Got a get a little FaceTime. Oh. Are you taking the kids? Yeah. I got five kids for our dads. Let's go. I see.

Yeah. I mean, at a young age, you really want your kids to be able to differentiate between a hazy IPA and what we would call like an and East Coast. Very different flavors. Yeah, for sure.

And I feel like the state of Washington has a lot to offer there. The state of Washington does have a lot to offer. You're an IPA guy. It's the best for that. And druggies. And there's lots of stabbings and crimes. So yeah, I can look forward to that as well. Also eBay, Amazon, sports teams.

Boats, fish. Bike Place Market. Chowder. Chowder. Oyster crackers. Yeah, well, I mean, for sure. Now, can you take your kids to the piano bar? Can you do the big bopper when the kids are there? Like, at what time can you lock them into their hotel room and disappear?

Some of these places have babysitters on staff. You've got to pay them way too much money. Shut the front door. I would divide this by four. That's perfect. Well, you better leave them all together. Yeah. You're all in room 10, 12, and you're watching Inside Out one and two, back to back. It's an Inside Out marathon. Make sure don't drink Dad's water by the bedside table. Yeah. For sure, too, also, let Mrs. Pinder know that you're leaving them with a daycare in a strange city while you go. I don't think that's a wise choice at all. I actually think that you should allow them to see you write riproar and shitfaced as opposed to. This is where America struggles.

In Europe, they've got this figured out. How are you supposed to learn and understand if you can't? Exactly. Yes. In Ireland, if you can reach over the bar, you're good for a Guinness. I was actually thinking that the other day. I had to stop at the booze store to get booze. Yeah.

And I'm like, what they're in the old days? The olden days. Grandpa would have pulled like my grandpa, I know pulled up at the booze store and sent my dad in to get the booze as a kid. Like, sure, yeah.

Go grab a six pack. I'm going to have a dart here. Say hi to Marty. I don't know. I'll pay him next week. Put it on the tab. Yeah. Like there was still a freaking tab.

So Seattle, what's the schedule? How many games? What's happening? It's Friday night game and then Saturday, Sunday, matinees. Holy smack. That's busy. It's pretty good. We'll get in early tomorrow morning.

Pike Place Market, swim in the pool, walk to the stadium, watch batting practice. You may or may not be some $5 beer until a half hour before first pitch if you're by the bat and go bullpins, but who knows that stuff anyway? Who's to say? You're a big time. You've spent time in Toronto. You must have some big ends with that

It never made sense to me. That's a big pivot, right? It's how they may trade this guy or sign him for eight years. And the word was. in much opposite directions in that. So now Ashgarov, the other goalie is kind of hanging, twisting in the wind. They'll move him at some point. But it all, it really kind of looks like, like you said, we're going to, we're going to try this. We're going to sign the goalie. We're going to go to free agency. I don't know how far out they, they knew they had a line on on Stamco's.

How much that affects them. Thursday, Friday is when things fall apart. It was like, it's done in Tampa. Yeah. And I said to Rhett the other, if Florida can be. a tax-free destination and Vegas can be tax-free and these teams can, why the hell not us? Like you think about the weather, you think about the cities, you think about living in those places. They might be on the top of your list anyway. Yeah, like let's say Winnipeg is tax free.

Now, you still travel on the road. You still pay taxes on all 41 road games. But like, LA doesn't have a tough time recruiting. That's one of the worst tax environments in the U.S.

The Rangers, worst tax environment in the U.S. They don't have tough time recruiting. Like, the zero state taxing is a bonus. These are all places you'd want to live as a hockey player in the winter. the top line from a year ago with Nyquist on the right side Philip Forsberg Ryan O'Reilly Stamcoast left Marsha on the right side Tommy Novak down the middle for line two Colton Sisson's third line center with Evangelista and former Flame Mark Jankowski and then

Michael McCarron Yuso Parson and Cole Smith there may be some guys to your point retro that are coming right now it doesn't feel they're not pushing anyone off the depth chart if cold smith wants to throw his weight around and evangelista like i think evangelista was good but he's still getting he's going to be a top nine guy and then in the back end they add she they add alexander carry a so keep him yeah they retain carry he sorry yeah they keep him so it's yosi and shay lozon carrier and then uh spencer stasney and Luke Shenan the back end. So, I mean, it's not a, it's not a juggernaut.

But to your point, they seem, they look like they're better. They look like there's a different kind of a feel to them. And I just wonder moving forward how much. And I think everybody likes the coach. Everybody loves Barry Trots. Like you say, everybody loves the city. Burnett, yeah. That said, Yosey's not young.

Stamcoast isn't young. And six months ago, they were going to dismantle. Yeah. And that's why I never really bought the Saros thing. because it's like when in the last 10 years have we seen an organization hand the keys to an H.L goalie? Like especially a team that was almost in the,

that did make the playoffs. They lost to Vancouver. Like what playoff team have we seen hand the keys to like a 21 year old H.O. I'm going back further though. Like maybe Carrie Price. Yeah, but that's not even the last 10 years. Like it's just, it's so rare.

And that's right. How many goalies are getting picked in the first round anymore? Right. Ascroft was, but my point is just that, like, it never felt like, I always thought it was negotiating leverage with Saros. Because even Saros, who's a great goalie and has finished top six in Vesna, like the last four years in voting, I don't know this year, but prior. Like, he had four or five years of understudy on René. Like, it isn't a problem to have like a nice platoon with a star goalie and a prospect goalie. Like, what are we talking about here?

And I think the word was Stamco or Saros's camp said, get this done. it was just like it was too much. So if it was negotiating leverage, it worked. Because he said, get that yield done. And it's not 9, 10. What is it? Eight. Like it's,

I'm going on. My point was that January? They were out of the playoffs and in cell mode. Yeah, they had a nice little heater there, didn't they? Didn't they win a gazillion in a row and get themselves back into it and have the best second half in the league? With Evanton, yeah. And the year prior, we thought they were no good.

And they were pushed right till the last week of the season and almost got in. So they were always a sum greater than their individual parts the last two years. And now all these guys that aren't stars are slotted more appropriately. And for the age concerns about Yosy and Stamco's, we haven't seen decline yet. Shea is 30. And Saros, who will, he's got one year left, right? At his, at his last, on his last deal, he wasn't a UFA. So he's got nine years left, including the extension. And he's 29. That's fine. Yeah. It's a little different.

You know, and I'm not, I'm not coming back at you, but how dissimilar? And I mean, I mean, it's not exactly. what Florida did with Bobrovsky and having drafted Spencer Knight. But this is the team with a first round drafted goaltender and have elected to give a long-term big money extension

to the veteran goaltender. I'm kind of with Pinder here, and I don't think anyone's against Pender, but go back to Pittsburgh with, and it wasn't a first rounder but when they had Murray and Murray and Fleury. They were both playing very well and the team was doing quite well. It's an asset that's

quite easy to move. You got to go Bull tender. In theory, yeah. And I just, until you prove it in the NHL, I don't really care if you're dominant in the A. I mean, are people like Dustin Wilson? You can't say that if, because you've touted Wolf as a,

wow, we've said he's an elite HL goal. We don't know what he, like you hope he could be a start in the NHL. If Wolf was a platoon guy, you'd be thrilled, um, based on a seventh rounder, but no, like, you, until you've proven at the NHL level, like, why would you hand the keys to a playoff team to a kid that's never proven in the NHL? top power play ozone. Like, Like this is this is your chance, Anthony. If you want to resuscitate your stock, you're not going to have juicier options than you do here. You're going to be stuck in a third line on championship caliber teams. Right now, you're going to get top line everything, ozone, first power play. Like this is your chance. If you can't do it here, it's probably not going to happen.

And if it does happen here, you got a nice trade chip if you're Craig on. Big Tony Math. Now you are very, I mean, I said to rat the other. I know, it's different because one's talking long term. but you were very against the flame signing a winger. Me or I? You, why would they go and sign a winger in free agency? Well, yes, I just wondered if it would have happened because there's been some buyouts of players where I'm like, who was the defense from the other day, Schmidt?

Well, Suter got bought out too. Yeah. But like a Schmidt, I'm like, wouldn't that be a you need defenseman? The Skinner one was fascinating to me because he's got three years left. You've got cap space. How many firsts would you need to eat that Jeff Skinner deal? Because it helps Buffalo a lot to not have this guy on payroll the next six years. They should theoretically be competitive.

Then that's the points. I was getting it. I'm like, it's not because any of the guys that you could add or whatever, take a spot. As long as the, but clearly there was not enough. value to do it. And I think teams will get more desperate the closer you like you get in season and this guy's not working. This guy gets hurt. Shit, we can't put them on LTIR, but we need a body. Like the pinch for teams against the cap isn't lessening as you get closer to the deadline. It's only increasing, especially when they're like, we want to add, but we got to get rid of some money.

I think the best time to weaponize cap space is when teams are most desperate. There's going to be a lot of that in season. Flames have the Most Cap Space in the entire NHL Which has never happened No this is They're in Morello Yotes territory right now

$8 million. And if you want to throw in a first, we'll do that. But chances are, claims are probably on that no trade. What's behind the Truba issues? I think he's a good player making too much money. Like, he's a captain of your team. I don't know.

I asked you this boom the other day. It's like, can you recall a team actively, trying to trade their captain. Like it's, it's probably happened a few times, but God, it feels weird. And like he's, he's a, the player gets, you can have polarizing views on the humans phenomenal.

We've seen all kinds of videos with him handing out scholarship money. And like, he's embedded in that community. Like he, he absolutely operates like a captain in one of the, you know, the biggest, brightest markets in hockey.

It's really odd. And his numbers in the playoffs, especially that Carolina series. He was, no, And that's, he got, he got, you know, buried. And you, it is, but you know what? It happens sometimes where it's, it's an unfortunate spot and you can either choose to ignore it or you can take it head on.

And I think that's what jury's trying to do. Now, just again, looking at their, at their depth chart, Braden Schneider, Adam Fox, Jacob Truba on the right side. I would think at this point, Schneider's probably moved past. Process of passing him, yeah. Kandre Miller, Ryan Lindgren, and Zach Jones on the left side. and there may be other guys in the system. Here's your captain making $8 million. He's probably your first best.

He's your captain and you might be healthy in the guy, depending on what happened. I'd be careful here, Rangers. Like, we've, how many games have you watched with the Rangers where Jacob Chuba's physicality has completely influenced the flow of the game? 100%.

And I don't understand. Last two trips to New York for the flames that happened. Whoa, and that's all. He went head first into the boards. Remember that? Yeah. And we also, so he's fine. Like I know, I didn't think he played that well.

I have 100% in agreement with that. But why does everyone else that doesn't play well? Probably was some bumps and bad. Yeah, like Leon, it's like, oh, he's obviously was hurt. Like, I got to wonder if there's something that. Anyway, I don't know. The other side of it is, if malcontent is the word, wasn't happy in Winnipeg was kind of getting me out of here. Is it a personality trait that's, I don't know. I think he's been a great leader and he loves it there.

And someone had posted a picture of him with his wife at a hospital and like there's lives away from hockey here. And that's why you negotiate for a no move clause so that you can protect your family from the risk of just getting sent anywhere at any time. And what I'm fascinated with is when they asked for Jacob Truba's trade list, does Jacob go through the 15 cities that are least desirable to him? Or does Jacob go through the 15 teams that probably want to add him and make life really

difficult for Chris Drury, who's making life difficult for him? Like if you just checked all the teams that are like, we're a defenseman away, we're contenders, go flex your no move there. Because there's no one else is going to give you much for him if they don't need a trouba. Jury's got a bit of the black hat right now because he did that with Barkley Goodrow. a couple weeks ago where we're going to trade you. Well, I have a no trade. Okay, well, how about waivers?

Because you don't have a no move. And then he ends up in San Jose. Now, Truba is whatever the story. I will prevent, I don't know the exact details. Wife's a doctor. She's involved in New York. They don't want to leave. They don't want to leave New York.

We can understand that. But you also don't want to be somewhere where you don't want to, where you're not wanted. And it would be embarrassing at some point when you're the captain and you know that your team is actively trying to trade you. And then maybe if your play is suffering either because of that or just regardless of that, not ideal. It's tough to be a captain.

You're not supported by the management and the coach. You know what I mean? That is an awkward room to be in. And the word is that's where it's been since the request for the 15 trades is like Jacobs like beside himself. Like everything I've given to this org, like I don't want to leave. Why do they want me gone? Yeah.

And it's mostly probably just too much money, but he didn't have a good playoffs. He's not going to be an analytics darling. That's not what he does. He intimidates. He imposes his physicality. He leads. Boy, when he plays, you've watched games or you're like, hell yeah, I'll take him on my team. So you get that poor play dates back prior to the playoffs, but we just watch closely, right?

The focus and the lights shine brighter. Chances are, probably there's been some. questionable play prior to the playoffs because you're right i don't know if that two or three week stretch and we only got to trade our cap or are you just looking at it if your jury has a he makes eight our defense core is solid without him he's our fifth he's are easy he's yeah if i can eliminate that that's a lot of dough for a guy i don't need it's cut throat as hell like it's it's it's kind of like how tampa approached stamp goes it's like yeah this isn't the feel good easy thing to do This is absolutely like psychopathic cutthroat when at all costs.

But that's how he approached the Goodrow thing. He's not a great defender by the numbers. But again, he is the most feared hitter in the sport. Period. Stop. There's no one you fear more with his shoulders than Jacob Trubon and his elbows occasionally. But that's that's what he is. He hasn't had a bad year for that.

He's crushed guys all year. You know, he's put Jacob Pellche back in the miners from which he might not return. He's looking at the, the Rangers drop capital. If it was going to cost them a first to move him out, uh, they have a first. They have no second, third,

fourth. They have one fifth. And it's Minnesota's fifth as they have moved out a bunch of picks. Well, wait, you're not going to pay to get rid of them. They might be at that point. Eight million. But if you're another team and he's on like, there's 15 teams out there.

Mm-hmm. 17 teams. 15 trade. whatever. Half the league is. You're not asking me, are you? Half the league is able to get him. There has to be a few teams that would go, yes, this would be a great, a really good.

And so has Jacob put those teams on his list? If he wants to stay in New York, that's the move. If Chris Drury wants to play like hardcore, you know, ruthless, they can do that too. So Detroit would love them. guarantee you put Detroit on the list. It'd be interesting to see what happens when emotions kind of take the summer. You'd have to weigh that, though. Sorry,

I'd cut you off there. But you really have to weigh that because you go through the 32, 31 teams. And, okay, so you're not going to go to Detroit who wants you. But Detroit's up and coming. Then you're going to leave Calgary open and you might end up in a place where you don't want to be. Do you know what I mean? like you would have there would have to be some homework done on that scenario. Yeah, no, I know.

And that's why I'm curious about fascinated by it because that's like the tactical thing. He doesn't want to leave New York. At some point this summer, Dean, I agree with you. He'll come around to the reality that he has to move on. I don't know that his camps there yet. To Red's point, that's a big game of chicken. If you're going to put a bunch of good teams on your no trade,

just to try and get into a pissing match with Chris Drury, then all of a sudden you end up, like you say, somewhere. Winnipeg? You don't want to be. That would be the peak clarity. And look, live by the sword, die by the sword. He was pretty cutthroat with the jets.

Yep. He played the system. And, you know, that kind of reminds me of who was the European defense from Tim Erickson, the flames drafted. He's like, actually, you know what? I'm not going to sign guys. And I want to go play for the Rangers. And that was the Roman Horack swap that Jay Feaster had to make.

What a pick. And you know what? It's like, okay, Tim Erickson, you want to be a CNAX Tuesday? Off you go to New York. They didn't use him. He went and rotted in Hartford and then went to Columbus and rotted in their minor league teams. Like, well, that's who you get, maybe. A little karma coming at you.

Tim Erickson didn't want to be a flame, goes to New York? Stinks. Adam Fox doesn't want to be a flame. Goes to New York. Terrible. You know, when are these guys going to learn? Definitely a trend. Figure it out.

Not that you couldn't. He's still room. One more guy down the depth chart, but. I would think, we don't know how the negotiations have gone, but I would think if you're the team, from my point of view, and that you put myself in if I'm in management with the flames, I'm annoyed with this guy now. I think this is a really, really silly move by J.P. Barry and Oliver Shillington's,

that decision group, the people that are planning this, you essentially made $4 million to not play hockey for almost two years, while the team stood by your side, defended you, sheltered you, gave you the privacy and time that you needed. Not NHL standard, not like, yeah, okay, he breaks his leg, he goes in Altair. This is above and beyond, well exceeding. There are many teams that would have suspended you for not showing up. And there was a lot of words that were very grateful,

and there were a lot of words that suggested loyalty. The actions haven't matched that at all. And the time frame is important. Like, we started this podcast. 22 months ago. That's about the amount of time that Oliver Shillington got paid about $4 million to not show up to work.

And I'm not suggesting he wasn't dealing with big issues, but what I am suggesting is that the team stood by him with those issues and gave him all the resources they could to get him healthy again to the point where he could play hockey again. And then when he showed up at camp

and disappeared again after we thought he was going to be back, they still stood by him a second time. And then he comes back for the very end of the season, a small enough sample to show that he can play in the league, but not to show what kind of hockey player is and he thinks, you know what, I may be able to strike it rich and free agency. That to me is so

ungrateful. And you absolutely have the right to go do that. Just as the flames had the right to suspend you rather than support you in your time of need when your darkest moment was there. And when you returned, you talked about how it might have saved your career. The amount of money that you're chasing here for the people that you think they're undervaluing you by that saved your career, what are we talking about here? Like, what are you talking about? That's not how you treat people. I'm with you. 100%.

I think it's poor. And I just wonder who's who's driving that decision? It has to be the agent. That's what they're there to do. They advise you. That's in the freaking job description on your business. But if they can advise you,

it doesn't mean you take the advice. Correct. And maybe Oliver wants to get back to Calgary and J.P. Barry thought he could play hardball and get a bigger number. And now you're going to standoff out of his face. Maybe J.P. is saying, dude, you should just take it. And I don't say, no.

Like, they, it'll be a combination and they'll, I don't think one will try to, they're not going to argue with each other about it. They've got a plan, but I don't know who's put the plan together. You would think it would be the agent. I'd be even more disappointed if this is Shillington saying. And look, if changing scenery is part of you getting back to you,

great, but don't say all the things you said leading up to this if that's the case. If you know that's the case, there's ways to approach this much more tactically. where you can let it be known that you're very appreciative, but that, you know, for me to be my best self, I might need to get out of certain communities, groups of people, whatever it is. Wow. And again, we never heard anything about it. We don't know what the hell the issue was.

It's the big blanket of mental health, but like, that's a credit to the flames. No one knows even what the hell happened. They nominated him for a freaking award. He never even said what the issue was. And like, that's how good the flames were to this guy. Nothing got leaked. They were at absolutely like, you know, this was welded tight.

They could not have supported this player to a higher degree. And for that, they get, yeah, you know, I think we could get another extra million or a second year. And you know what? I don't think other teams have been fooled by this. Like, where's the offer? Yeah, that's just it. If you're going to treat an NHL team that treated you that way like that, maybe we won't go three, four years. Maybe we'll just do one.

And it's interesting you mentioned, it's J.P. Barry. This is not a guy that fell off. off the turnip truck as they say. No, this is a top five book in the sport probably. You would think that this guy would have very good intel on what interest there would be for this player. And you know what else has happened in that time that he's not playing? This is, he's 27 years old. He had eight points in 33 games last year. It's not like this is a young burgeoning prospect. This is a guy. This is by now, it's kind of what he is. And he could skate and he can move the puck what this is not a this is not a player who is free of like man like mantha where

is he going to go to get a better opportunity to play even if you take they stood by you you should stand by them agree with that they're going to give you a contract whatever it might be take a one year deal and go play 22 minutes a night and then go rene fine the easy solution here was to take a one year deal at either the amount you got paid to not show up for at least, you know, for a year and a half, or a little more, whatever. Like, but then you can show the league what you are. And you, like, you see he is what he is. I have no idea what he is.

Is he a third pair or a second pair guy? There are a lot of years where he was. I don't know. Next to Tanna if he was. Otherwise he wasn't. The year he made it, we didn't even mention his name going into training. No, he was a seventh defenseman. He was like, yes.

And so are you a third pair or a second pair? You didn't want to, like, if you, you know, played the full season, we'd know. But instead, you can. came back and he played 30 games as the team was dissembling the blue line and you and rasmus didn't play well together bud you didn't look like a top four guy next day anderson who we know is so if you want top four money well shit maybe if you'd played more than 33 games the last two years you could have built the case and i'm not trying to make light of the situation he's in but it just seems a little bit arrogant to go think you're going to go get paid term for top four when he hasn't

been that guy since he played with tana three seasons ago under setter yeah nobody's offering him top four dollars. Clearly he's not regarded. They would have been signed by now, but that's probably what he thought he was getting. He skates well. He's not old. There has been a bit of offense, but I don't think we've seen enough to go to market and go get the money. And I think he's probably a great human and like for all accounts I've heard, great guy. It's just a shame that has to end this way because the team bent over backwards to help him in his darkest time. Yeah. And I don't know. We're told over and over again, it's a business, it's a business, it's a business.

And for Calgary Flame fans and for Flames staff and all of that. What was the business move for the flames then over the last two? I know. No, I know. They didn't treat it as a fucking business. Sorry. There's a time and a place where the business side has, you have to put the business aside and treat people as humans and do the right thing.

And he's not keeping up his end of the barricing it. Yeah. The words were there, just not the actions. And look, maybe he comes back to Calgary and says, geez you know i have a hard time even now he's going like there's he's a lot of lot he's lost a lot of good faith yeah for sure there's the goodwill that he built up and people are saying yeah if it was a broken leg is different like yeah but you can't go test a guy for a broken mental health thing like you really have to you're in the trust tree with the player there isn't a test to say oh

he needs six months oh he needs a year oh he needs two weeks of like we are talking about a massive amount of trust in a player and team in this situation. It's not an X-ray where you look at it and you give the guy a timetable. And to your point, right? It's, you know, I think we can speak to it.

Between Bradshaw Living and Craig Conroy, there was a great deal of compassion shown to this player. So you don't want to, it's not about guilting a guy, but they were tremendous, a tremendous support to him when he needed help the most. Just walk through it all.

Oh, walked through his whole career and tell me where the flames have not done wrong. Yeah. Where's the bad taste in his mouth? Where's the you need to squeeze this team for more? And by all means, if you sign a one-year deal and you look unreal, you'll get it. Squeeze away. Squeeze away. You've earned it now. But not when you've shown up for 33 out of a possible 170-some games.

Now, we won't know, but I don't suspect that the flames are trying to. to put the squeeze on him. And what would the squeeze on him look like? Six-year deal at $2 million? They probably wanted short-term. I can't imagine. I think in the wake of what happened. I would think it's a,

you want to play one more year at the same or in the same vein of pay? Love to have you. And I think they went up from what his last salary was. So it's a tough one. It's not tough. Well, I just mean like it's it's a tough look for the player. It's a tough pill to swallow for the flames and the player doesn't look good.

And I, and that's why I'm at, I get emotional, get grumpy with people, but he's not doing the right thing in my opinion. And I don't want him back. You've, you've already muddied the waters. And people are misinterpreting this thing. Oh, you don't understand mental halls. This isn't about mental health. This is about when you needed the team to support you the most, they did. and they're not saying we don't want you back because of mental health.

You're saying, yeah, you know what? You treated me great, but it's lack of loyalty. This isn't a mental health. And it's, and again, and we'll move on because it feels like, kind of feels like we're bashing. But it's also, it's not like you're shunning a better deal to stay in count yet. Right? No.

Because if there was, you'd have gone and signed it. And we would have all said, hey, that's great for him. It's a four year deal. It's good money. flames aren't in that spot whatever but the fact is there was a deal on the table with this team and you said no and went to get to go elsewhere and as of yet it could happen today by the time you listen to this it may all be done he could be whatever a Carolina hurricane still doesn't make you right in my eyes great yeah uh pinta report coming up and terrible terrible asset management
