And away we go, another edition of Barnburner here, Flamesnation.ca, on the YouTube's and wherever you get your podcasts.

Get the notification, a little ding.
Tells you in the new stuff.
It's in.
Ding.
Push alert.
That's right.
If you're watching on the YouTube's, good to see you.
We're here in the Tower of Chrysler Studios, Tower Chrysler.
Dodge Ram Jeep, the number one.
Consumer Choice Award winner, voted by you, favorite in Southern Alberta.
Chrysler, Dodge Ram dealer.
over, of course, you know where they are.
10-901, McLeod Trail South,
Towercrizor.com is the website.
There's Ryan Pinder.
Here's me.
And sporting a new t-shirt today.
God, that looks good.
That's fresh.
Is our man, Rhett Warner right in the middle.
Let's take a look, see there.
Wow.
For sure.
It's amazing you could get it made that fast.
And they did it backwards, too.
Yeah, the numbers on the front.
deal, but the numbers and the letter on the same side, that's new.
For those not watching, Red has a white t-shirt with the number 11 and a C on the chest.
Football style 11, like big numbers here.
Yeah, big numbers on the front, not the back.
A salute, no doubt, to the Flames new captain.
My man.
My man, Michael.
I'm just happy because you've been pumping his tires for so long.
Since the old.
Old studio.
Yeah.
It's the old old studio I've been saying,
this guy one day is going to, the cream will rise.
To the crop.
It's the crop.
Crop will cream.
Top the crop for Michael Backland today.
Yeah.
Did we, did we get hoodwinked, Dino?
No.
Because I made, I had a phone conversation yesterday.
Yeah.
And somebody gave some bad info.
to why we think we have bad info.
No, I talked to Friedman unrelated yesterday.
I just happened to be talking to Elliot yesterday.
Yeah.
And he's like, yeah, I can't be talking to anybody in Calgary.
It's, I'm sure they're not very happy with me where I was off on term and dollars.
Both, yeah.
Within a 24 hours, like 24 hours prior to the actual number coming up.
Off by a million and a year, like off by three million on the total.
Elliot's not usually off.
So my question is,
did the,
did people maybe float that so that the real deal came out?
I was kind of saying.
Oh, look at this.
Do you feed some,
some info to the media to get it out there
and just see what the reaction is?
Connie?
Conspiracy theory?
Now, that said, if you came back and said,
hey, Mike, that whole 5.5 times three,
we put it on the Twitterverse
and people think we're crazy
so we can't do it.
How about two at 4.5?
biper. I don't know that that's a great. I don't think that's how that negotiation goes.
No, I think it's done at that point to be honest. But it's funny, man, I went and I, because I, when I saw it
come down, I was like, didn't we, because near the end of our conversation, which we went on for
quite some time yesterday. Yeah. You had said, for you, what's like, what's the deal? What's the
number? And it was like, like, two, four point four, four, like, that's, it ended up being
kind of exactly where we felt it should be. Well, and you'd said, like, earlier in the week, like,
just off top of your head, what do you think? And I'm like, oh boy.
And what I said was four in a quarterish. And it was like, geez, that's, you're like,
too light, not going to happen. And like, I think we have to view this as a win for the flames given
that we didn't really think that this was a realistic outcome at points this week.
Rhett, give me your thoughts.
Sounds fair. Right? And it doesn't feel like Backland extorted the team over the sea.
It's a hometown discount. It is, which is beautiful. I don't know. I don't know that it's a
hometown discount, but it's certainly not a hometown screw job. I'll stay and I'll be the captain,
but I need years. I think, I see, I think it is a hometown discount. I do too. I think he could have
been closer to five. I think he probably could have gotten three somewhere come summer. This is,
and this is another thing that we said yesterday. If you want to be here and you want to be the captain,
then you take a little less and you show that you want to be here. I think he did. I think in term,
maybe not so much in dollars, four and a half.
Just to argue it.
Just to argue it with you.
I get what you're saying.
And I'm kind of jumping on you,
but I know where you're going with it.
Yeah.
Who's giving them three times five?
Somebody stupid like Columbus,
a bad team for sure.
That doesn't make it.
No, and I agree.
But when we're talking about market rate,
it's the highest offer, not the most rational,
not the most reasonable, not what smart gyms do.
July 1 is crazy, right?
Right?
This is better than a July 1.
The cap is going up.
teams are going to have some money.
He's a center,
which is part of the team.
Every team needs centers.
He's a 36 year old center.
Yeah.
I think he'd get a three year deal somewhere.
And that doesn't mean that this is a screaming deal,
right?
But it means that he probably is foregoing a year and a bit of money by doing.
Yeah,
with a wink and a nod from Conroy.
We're going to sign you again.
Oh, is that?
Oh,
I didn't see.
I didn't see this.
It's that in the press release.
I didn't see that.
that wink and nod part.
If he wants to play well and come back on one year.
I mean, we're three years away.
Like, wouldn't that be a great problem to have that you need to be a part of the organization for the rest of your life is what every want to do after you're here.
You're good to take the contract.
And now listen, here's the other part.
Great.
And we can agree or disagree.
Conroy said it at the press conference.
You've talked about it for a long time.
I think any fan can agree.
You want guys that want to be here.
Yep.
This is a sign that he wants to be here.
It is.
Is it not?
Yeah.
You're wearing the jersey.
Come on now.
Yeah.
By the way, where did you find that designer product?
In Buffalo, too.
It's very strange.
Right off the pot off the presses.
Do you not think that's a sign of him wanting to be here?
I mean, I know he said as much.
He wanted to be here, but it's, I think it.
You just said it's not a hometown dist.
Well, you said.
I did say it's a hometown.
I'm saying it.
I don't agree with that.
So I think four million bucks is a home down discount.
I think anything under market is a hometown discount.
But to your point, right, this isn't a massive steal.
This isn't Patrice Berger on one year, five million.
I agree with that.
Like this isn't Joe Thornton playing for a million or Patrick Marlowe playing for
league man or Wayne Simmons going to Toronto for nine or isn't that.
But what if we said all along, what's more palatable?
The dollars or the term?
It's fair.
You'd rather have shorter term.
Yeah.
It's fair.
But I think you're.
It's reality, but it's.
stupid because
free agency's dumb.
And yeah, maybe he would have
got paid six. I mean,
yeah. Who was a defenseman
last year that went to Columbus?
Well, I mean, just think, like,
Branson. Yeah.
Like, you knew that was a
dumb. That's not a...
Yeah. Like, think about
Coulorne to Anaheim. Like, what was that?
Six times four or something? You're like, what's? Yeah,
but that's the market. When we talk about market rates,
that's the definition of a market. I'm selling
peaches. A lot of people here.
who's getting me the most, I'm selling to you.
That is the market rate.
This is not that.
This is better than that.
I think this is the market rate.
You think he's not getting three years in July 1?
I don't.
You can look at it.
The three years, sure, but he's going to get a third year.
You just sign for two.
That's our point.
Well, you can't critique a deal that's three years away that hasn't been made.
Like, if you think they're going to sign them to another one year deal,
you might be right.
But I don't think that that can be how you,
Michael Backlens,
Michael Backlens eyes.
Do you think he doesn't think he's going to get another one-year deal at the end of this?
God,
it's three years from now.
Like,
think about where this franchise was three years ago.
Who knows,
man?
Like,
all right,
then I'm fucking dumb and you guys are dialed in.
I'll just shut up for the rest.
Hey,
I'm not that,
man,
there's that at all.
We're just saying,
but you're critiquing this deal on,
that in three years from now,
he might get another year.
I'm saying it's not the fucking home run that you two doorknobs are fucking.
Okay.
Well,
Ray,
heels over.
Yesterday when I asked you, what's the number that would work?
What did you say?
Three times four.
And so this is less money and less term.
So how are you not happy with it?
It's better than what you said you'd accept yesterday.
Sure.
Okay.
I said I'd accept it.
I didn't say like, this is better than that.
Great.
I'm so fucking excited for Backland to be the captain.
I got a shirt flown in special from Paris.
It was made by the Breesians.
And it's, I'm fucking ecstatic.
Yeah.
Let's go back.
I can feel it.
Is that better?
Is that what you're hoping to hear?
I don't really care what you say.
We didn't really ask for your enthusiasm.
Why are you asking me a question?
No, we just ask you a lot of the contract.
I'm entertained by it, but I, it's, I don't, you could say whatever you want to say.
I'm happy that you have your opinion.
It makes for a good show.
I mean, yesterday you said one thing.
And today you hate the deal that's better than that.
All right.
Hey, hey, you're right, Pinder.
I'm an idiot.
And you've never done stuff like that.
And you don't walk both sides of the fence ever.
Ready to go.
And we should all just hold hands and be happy that.
No, but if I am going to play both sides,
fucking give it to me like you do, right?
Like, is that not how we do the show?
We call each other out on the whole side of the argument.
And if we all just say, yeah, it's great.
Okay.
Well, we don't want to have to talk about anymore.
Well, and we don't need to go around and around.
I think we were all on the same page that three at 5.5 seemed crazy.
Yeah.
two at 4.5.
Yeah, that's considerably better.
That sounds like it to me.
And I guess just when I look at when I say hometown discount,
I just,
I feel like July 1, he gets a three year deal somewhere.
I agree.
And maybe you're right, Rhett,
that he gets an extra year when this one's done.
But that doesn't change what he did right now, does it?
Okay, he's the best.
Okay, Christ, almighty.
We've won me over.
I'm not, but you're acting like I'm mad about the deal.
And then you're trying to make me apologize for saying it.
I'm not,
I don't,
you don't need to apologize.
I don't get the point of what you're trying to get me to say then.
You're leading the witness into saying something.
I've said something and you're telling me I'm wrong.
And I say,
oh, fine,
that it's good.
And then I don't want to hear that.
Want to move on?
Game last night in Winnipeg.
Jets and flames at the something or other arena.
Stabby.
In downtown.
The stabby.com.
The Rusty Stab Arena, something like that.
Rustyjank.com arena.
Jets had, I think they had a fairly strong lineup,
more of a veteran crew than maybe the Jets or the flames would have brought in.
Be honest, had you heard of the goalie?
Who, their goalie?
Yeah.
Conner Hellebuck?
I still haven't heard of the goal.
Well, I guess I watched the highlight where it wasn't Hellebuck in it.
I see.
I imagine there was a split.
Because you'll see, you'll see Connor Hellebuck in these high.
highlights. Okay. If they, uh, if they ever go. There we go. Late stages of the first period.
Look at the shock clock 14.4. It's all flames. Look at Zorov. Swinging around.
The roller coaster. Be in the best Adorov he could be. Luce, loose puck in front. Soon to be opening night flame dried and hot bangs at home.
We're on the, we need a nickname for this cat. He's making the team boys. There's Connor Hallibuck.
He's like, what the fuck? Pindra doesn't even know who I am. Tied at one, go to the second.
Halfway through, look at the door off.
Clunk.
Tawn and Adel.
In Winnipeg.
Loves Winnipeg.
Oh, yeah.
Watch Wolfie.
Dustin Wolf in that, trying to redeem himself.
Shut in front of.
Appleton makes a big save off Appleton there, glove safe.
Get out of here.
Wolf, Rudy.
Connor's Aries had quietly a nice little camp here.
Look at the Dragon Zing.
Ooh.
He scores, little sally.
Good preseason, good camp.
To the shootout, Andrew Badge-Pedy.
Scores.
Red.
Nice shot.
And then for the win,
Nemesnikoff, on Wolf,
Scorpion, death pad, arm pump.
Sell it.
Flames win.
Look at this, retro.
Double windmill.
Pre-season.
That much for pre-season.
Happy for the kid, but I don't mind celebrating wins.
Just win, baby.
Yeah.
You know what?
He said afterwards that, and we kind of joked about it,
that all the bad news because Wolf lost in Seattle or whatever it was.
He said he was happy that they put him back in quickly so he could redeem himself.
And he played pretty well last night.
End of the night, what did he get?
My eyes are bad.
Still?
Yeah.
Just the fuck.
Didn't those lasers fix your eyes?
It's not good.
Anyway, Wolf gets back in, gets the win.
He's happy.
This preseason couldn't be going better.
just wins everywhere or slower just wins galore i can't wait for the next one when's the next
preseason game tomorrow oh good yeah can't wait can't wait it is at home and it's the oilers so i mean
do you think you get your connor mac david tickets yeah i don't know that uh i don't want to
this point anyone but it's a bit of a gamble if you if that's what you're hoping for might be uh dylan
the hallway, not Connor McDavid.
Kids up against the glass.
Connor.
Connor.
Where's Connor?
Connor?
I'll give you snickers for a puck.
You're not McDavid and you're not
McDavid.
Where's McDavid?
Who, by the way, looks pretty good.
I don't know if you've seen him.
Yeah, he's still.
Do I have to see any more of this guy?
No.
I mean, if you haven't seen it, you've seen it before.
You've seen it.
Except maybe faster.
Maybe he's faster.
Unless everyone else is slower.
He's probably a little stronger.
faster, yeah.
If he could peak anytime, that'd be great.
That'd be just a nice plateaued at 160 points.
Beat it with that.
That'd be all right.
Are you, now, I feel like we can't move on from the Backland yet.
Let's move.
Good deal.
Because I said near the end of our conversation yesterday,
it kind of felt shitty at the end,
because it feels like we're coming on, going after Backland.
He's Michael Backland.
He's been with the team, whatever is, 14 years.
He is a 16th season he's heading into.
Like, I mean, the one he played, he played one game in the one year.
I just, regardless, but note with like that puts them right up there with a ginnla.
It's, it's big numbers.
Sorry, go ahead.
So, I mean, whether you like the deal, it's fair, unfair, whatever, he's still Michael Backland.
He's the captain.
I still, I don't know that he's, maybe he is the guy that is like, get on my back, boys.
Let's go into battle.
maybe he is that guy maybe he needed this to draw that out of him maybe this is that kind of
confidence he needed maybe it's been there the whole time no for everyone involved
you just you hope you hope it works out you're happy for him because obviously it meant
something to him we heard that all the way along and clearly that's the case he stays he gets the
sea i i wonder if we spend too much time talking about the captain sea
Oh, way too much.
But we were told it's important.
Yeah, we were told it's important.
They wanted him.
He wanted it.
They needed to get him a deal or it was going to be clunky.
It's all rear of your mirror now.
And again, like you said it right from the spring rat,
what really matters is how he operates in that room.
And none of us are privy to that.
They all liked it.
They all talked about it.
And again, you're talking to the media dean.
I get it.
But like the players all were vouching for this guy
when asked.
Well, yeah.
They don't spit truth like they do on Barnburner, though.
That's right.
Get those guys in here and we'll really see what they think.
So, you know, they move on.
They've got the captain.
Now you focus on the team.
I've got a bunch of old bastards.
Yeah, a bunch of 30-year-olds.
Yeah, just with the, 30.
34, 34, 35-year-old guys sign
on a long-term contracts.
Not much more.
That's a good term.
How many more 30-year-olds can they sign?
Have they got a few more kick around?
Linholm's close.
Nice.
If they get him any term, he'll be in his 30s.
Tanna of 30 for sure.
You want to bring him back.
Zaddog,
gonna be tough because he's a little younger.
And then I'm missing another D-Man.
I feel like that Zadora of has been around forever.
Well, he played right out of the gate, didn't he?
He gave him.
He was a real buff.
Yeah.
They have those two D-Men in round one.
Even Hannifton.
Him and Risto.
Hanifent feels like he's been in Calgary forever.
Oh, he's 26.
What?
I know.
He came right out of Michigan and played?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Was it Michigan?
Um,
Dryden, Hans.
This is why I, you're right.
We talk about Backlin and you take a shot.
And this is the issue.
I don't like being old.
I don't trust that you're going to have success with these old bastards.
I don't.
Mm-hmm.
Give me Connor, Zari.
Because 35 today is like 38 back when you played.
Which is odd because they take better care of themselves.
But the guys that are like in their mid-20s, they're like 15.
So it's just that sliding scale.
I think this is Gumer Math.
You've lost me here.
What the whole are we talking about?
The young kids are so young and the old guys are so old is what I'm getting at.
The kids are so good.
Where was the Gretzky quote?
What, last week?
He's like, they're better today.
Players, they're just, they're better.
Players have never been better.
than they are today.
And he's true, it's right.
Studs.
Studs at 20, 21, 22.
Whereas you, again,
time days,
you'll be 22 years old.
You may not have gotten a friggin sniff of the NHL.
Not a sniff.
Got too many old goats clogging up the roster.
Guys were getting,
the best part of your career,
we've said this,
was when you hit 30,
31 years of age.
Finally.
Please get me to 31 or enough years of service, 30 years old,
where I can finally go to free agency as a UFA and sign a big deal.
Rangers or lease can pay me way too much money.
I can't wait until I'm 31.
I just have to get to 31.
All those guys were signing at 31.
Yeah.
And now it's eggshells to sign equity north of 30.
Guys are jumping out of junior and putting up numbers now.
Like would anyone be surprised if Baderd has a point per game
season this year. So, but so, but that goes back to the whole issue with it. Like, we are,
we've got older guys. Like, backland can be the best backland he can be. And it may now be the best
move for the team. I think we're all philosophically on the same page about what could happen
this off season, about a reset and getting younger. And they are going to get younger, but not
at the top of the roster. We're around the edges, right? It's going to be the fourth line and the third
pair and but again that's we get back into the what is connie want to do and what are connie's
marching orders and what is the owner want and what is the owner traditionally wanted and that's
go win now boys go win there's one way out of this win yeah because because nasm cadry's 33 in a
couple days here like huberto codry you got to win for lindom's got to win because he wants
contract backland's got to win because he's getting old codry you're not going to be moving
any of these guys.
If there's success with the flames,
maybe it opens doors.
I don't know.
But you are in it.
Start winning.
They started the offseason with six free agents,
Dino.
DeFoli, traded.
Sharon Govich comes in.
Younger and a third.
Okay.
Wasn't it seven?
I guess if you include Shillington,
yes, he's kind of a weird,
I don't really know where to put him on.
But yes, it was seven.
So, DeFoli's been traded,
back has been re-signed.
Yeah.
And they enter the season looking like Lindholm, Tanev, Hanofan,
Zedorov, and Shillington will be UFAs.
And Connie said, I can't go into the season with six, seven UFAs.
He hasn't, but he's still got four to five depending on any of you,
Schillington.
I have two questions.
We'll start off with this one.
So now with this, I don't think this really has much bearing on it.
It's money committed moving forward.
Elias Lindholm, do we have any feel?
any has our opinion changed because the last time we talked about it it was it was horovat money but the
horvat money was now getting that's maybe rearview mirror for lint holmes up from one horvettes sign it's north of that now
to your point i just how many 30 year old guys can you have and if you have cadry backland
down the middle is that enough that you could move on from lindholm and still be competitive or
if you're moving Lindholm, are you now out of a window of winning?
I guess it depends what you get in return.
You need kids to come along.
I think he got to let him go.
And again, to your point, Rhett, it's like he might be the one guy you'd want to sign.
You've already committed elsewhere.
Now it becomes a dangerous signing.
Yes.
He's the only guy that's old that you've got commitments to beyond 30.
And it's like, okay, maybe we had to overpay a little, but like, this is a guy.
100%.
You already got Huberto.
You already got cadre.
You committed money to Uighur on the back end.
You've got now Michael Backlain, not a big money,
but locked into it like how many 30-year-old core pieces do you want?
I was flipping out last year at this time with those signings.
I'm like, what the f-are-are-are-weider one?
Yeah.
I think the Uyghur one will be just fine, but the Huber one's a nightmare.
Yeah.
The what is fine?
I think the Uyger one is going to be fine.
Weir-er's fine.
You're right.
But the Hubert-o, and look, it took until January,
before we really saw the real Uighur,
because before that it was like,
what the hell was this?
Here's the Florida guy.
Here's the thing.
How about like the Uyger one?
Fine, whatever.
Because he's not that old, right?
Yeah.
Fine.
It's that you did,
you locked up two guys that had never played together
in your city long term 30 plus.
Yeah.
Before you saw him.
Before you saw him part of your squad.
Even if you only do one.
And because you did that,
you had to trade Monaghan and a first.
to make room for those bastards.
But if you don't sign Hubertow to the long term,
to the extension, you're not right?
Do you know what I mean?
Like there were so many other ways of handling this.
It was a chips and move, right?
And you didn't know how the group was going to work.
Totally.
Don't like it.
And now you're,
we say it over and over.
We might lose Lindholm,
the one you want the most out of all four of those.
forwards that we're talking about.
Lindholm, Backland,
Cadry, and Hubertoe.
Who would you have the most faith in,
for,
pick one to build around.
You pick Lindholm.
You pick the youngest.
Right?
Yeah.
Like, not the other three
is Captain Mike,
sorry, but if I'm picking,
it's Lindholm.
Yeah, and that's a third center.
That's not the same.
No, it's not.
Right?
It's not.
And that's not.
And that's not.
And that's just it.
If you don't bring
Cadre you can have Lindholm and Backland and I like that combo better than what we're going to be
stuck with. I agree. And if they bring Lindholm back, I think we've really,
they better be good if they do that, right? Well, exactly. They had better be real good. Real,
real, real like third round, go to the finals, good. Beat Edmonton in the playoffs. Yes. That
rivalry going.
It's funny, there's a lot of people,
maybe not third round, but there is, even
with what happened last year, you'd think there
would be some people
just, there's more people who think
they're ready for a bounce back, that they will be
better to much better this year.
And usually hockey
hockey punness, it's not a
big clock of positivity
most of the time.
So not that that means anything, but I think
there are a lot of people who think that the coaching
change and that's going to make a difference.
He would have can't be that bad.
The goal tent can't be that bad.
The power play's got to be better.
Now.
Anyone else getting better though?
That's the, well, here.
You know, I was going to say,
Nazim Kodry,
we never talked about you for the captaincy.
Really?
That game against a bad taste in our mouth from that
Chicago.
That Chicago game.
Despite everything that went wrong last year
and your year was,
his numbers were not terrible.
Right?
He was a freaking all-stars.
Yeah.
If that's a bad year, what's a good year?
I was going to.
And so, and that's a guy who has room to be better.
We taught, when you talk about who can be better?
The goalie, Huberto.
I think those are the first two that you really jump to.
Hey, Naz, you, you can also be better.
The problem is he ain't getting younger.
No.
Right?
Like, again, you're right.
Needs to be better.
Has to be better.
Getting older and will he be better are the questions I have.
I just think like how to.
Because because as mad as you might be about Darrell and this and that,
when you go out and perform the way you did against Chicago in a must-win game that's shameful.
And I think it speaks to your character because you weren't concerned with your team or anything else.
You didn't care about anything at that moment.
And it raises red flags in my eyes.
that's a concern for me.
You may as well.
You're worried about you or are you worried about the team?
Yeah.
It looked like the guy was shopping for vacations.
Yes.
He had a flight.
Like, yeah, it's where we're cruising, honey.
Oh, yeah, okay, I'll be a minute, boys.
It was one of the worst, like that.
I don't know that I can remember watching a flame player quit and like decisively saying
that word.
That's a harsh word in professional sports.
And it's like, boy, you better be right if you're saying that word.
But that performance in a huge game against one of the worst teams in the league,
was atrocious.
Be better.
He will be better, but he's got to be better.
He went from, well, he be better though.
Yeah, he'll be in an all-star game.
Like maybe there was no better choice, but there wasn't.
We're going to say that he's going to be better and he went to an all-star game.
It was funny because Frank sat down with him at the all-star game.
And Frank said the Calgary Flames make the playoffs, if what?
And Nazim filled the blank in.
It was like, when we start playing as a team and you're like, oh, wow, okay.
Okay.
From that point on, he was dog shit.
He didn't do anything to help me.
He's like, okay, he knows the problem, but he ain't fixing it, apparently.
He's not a fixer.
Idea guy.
I can relate to that.
There you are.
Don't judge me by my actions.
Yeah, no.
Judge me only by my words, by what I say.
Because my actions, I mean, that's not.
It's not truly me.
Who wants to be judged by what you actually do?
Another question.
So the shirt that you're wearing.
Uh, designer.
Give me the, uh, give me how, how did this come to be?
Snowsheller.com.
If you guys want one, we can,
wow.
I can get you one.
You got a warehouse full of them?
I got a mass producing.
Sizes.
Yeah, the one size fits all.
Oh, okay.
Is that what it is?
Yeah.
Any of a mo-mo.
That lulu-le-le-type stuff.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, because I, I think the kids are going to love them.
Oh, I like the football members.
That's a new look.
Yeah, the kids are going to love those.
things. Can you get close? Can we get a closer? Uh, no, we might see my nips. It's all right.
Okay. Yeah, yeah. That's a pretty good numbers. I'm impressed. Pretty straight. Yeah.
Wow. Maybe could have gone with the bigger marker, but, uh, don't judge. Pender. Come on. I'm impressed.
I just like the support. Yeah. All in favor. Just a ringing endorsement right out of the gate,
Dean. Right out of the gate. Yeah.
She's into athletes.
See, it used to be that we would bring it up and you'd get sour.
Now you just bring it off all the time.
Boy, you really used to get sour.
Jesus.
This Saturday.
What's today?
Thursday?
Yeah.
Saturday.
Join us.
There you see it.
Century Downs Racetrack and Casino a day at the races.
Oh, Mama.
1245 is post time.
They're going to have the thoroughbreds just, they're going to be snorting and stomping and.
Just raring to go,
wearing to go.
Through the month of September and into October,
live thoroughbred racing every Saturday and Sunday
at Century Downs Race Track and Casino.
1245, the races begin.
Admission is free.
All ages are welcome.
See, that's the thing you're thinking,
oh, it's at the casino.
The racetrack, admission free,
all ages are welcome.
Wager, watch, eat, and drink with your friends,
entertainment that you will not find anywhere else.
There's nothing like a day at the track.
And this Saturday, it is Flames Nation Day at the track.
we're going to be there.
We're going to be winning.
Oh, baby.
Putting some money down, getting some wins, doing some screaming and yelling.
Stacking Ws.
Stacking vodkas on top of vodkas and having a hell of a day.
And we'd love you to be there.
There's going to be the barn burner heat.
I don't know if that, what that involves.
We have to run the track.
Remember in 89, Terry Crisp had them run the stampede.
The big Oval
Almost went right back to Sweden
He's like screw this
Yeah
That's not happening
Either way
Come on down
We'll see you there
At Century Downs on Saturday
1245 is start time
It's been a long time actually
Since I've been to the track
When's the last time you've gone to the races
It was
It was probably five or six years ago
It was the
What do they call it?
Pinder you'll know
Canada Day
out it's in. Oh yeah,
the Queens plate or whatever.
Yeah, in Toronto. No, no,
no, no. In Calgary.
Oh, oh, the Packwood Grand. Yeah. That's
that's that century downs. Yes, of course.
That's the big fancy put on your, what do they call
the fancy hats, Dean?
Chappos.
Chapo.
Hey, did you know, you could buy a chapeau.
The fashionistas.
So do we need hats?
July 1 you do. That's a very fancy day.
I feel like come as you are this weekend.
Is it?
I think you guys should put something fancy on.
Doxedo?
I got that gold blazer.
Make some T-shirts for ourselves.
Can the Shuffler get something into us by Saturday?
Are they custom?
I want a 44 on the front with this.
No.
Newest signing.
That's not custom.
Like the retro stuff.
I did not show you in that highlight pack.
the,
the scrap
with
clapka.
And,
yeah,
Klopka took on
I'm gonna have to watch
Bauer,
I believe is,
is his name.
I'm not sure who it is.
Trevor Bauer.
Didn't go that,
that well.
For.
Klopka.
You know what?
Had his hands full.
But,
listen,
it was early on in the game,
minute 20.
Irel Bauer.
So Tom.
Klapka drops the gloves.
Doing what you,
you respect that,
right?
Get out there and get noticed.
First shift,
dropping the gloves.
How many training camps have we as a group
done a show and been like somebody do something?
Young guys do something.
We got Hunt.
We got Clapka.
We got Coronado making waves.
Sorry.
Zeri scores again.
This is what Connie talked about.
He's like,
there's a lot of kids I want to see.
Like I'm not,
I'm not loading up with PTOs.
I don't need six rich.
Let's see the kids.
He's got the size on him.
Oh, he's so lefty, though.
I hate lefties.
Give us the play by play.
No.
Wrestling, wrestling.
A couple jabs.
Oh.
No, now that other guy is thrown fast.
Yeah.
He got dinged with the fuse.
He's trying to.
Oh, there comes back.
Uppercut.
Didn't really hit.
The jet guy throws fast.
He throws both.
This is the issue.
He's throwing.
He's throwing hands.
Yeah.
Messes you up.
It's a lot of punches for the jet guy.
Yeah.
And you missed.
Definitely the second or last quarter of the fight, he pumped him pretty good.
Yeah.
To use that racing analogy, the Klopka came in second.
Hmm.
Cross the finish line after.
You got to get him by the, so you get both hands.
You could tell he was just kind of waiting.
He's like, okay, I'm going to get my spot here.
I just need to kind of get loose.
Okay, as soon as I get a hold of you, you're going to get it.
And if you could stop, you know, bouncing your fists off my head, that would be great.
In the meantime, if you could stop punching me in the mouth while I get my bearings here,
and then the fight was over.
But hey, good for you.
You mentioned Dryden Hunt.
Scores last night.
Had a goal the other night.
Feels like he's the guy to me with Pelche out now.
He had the beautiful helper on that horrendous, atrocious giveaway for what, Coronado's
second of three and the 10-0-0 win over Vancouver?
Yeah, get him in there.
I like him.
He's a perfect fourth-line winger.
Give me your 13th forward.
this guy's going to run into everything.
Get them in there.
Plays with pace.
Yeah, yeah.
Get them in there.
You've lost me now.
Well, it was a lot.
Well, but hey, come on now.
Like, how many years did we, you specifically bitch him on and say, just do something guys?
Who?
Me?
No, Red, about kids.
All of us, really.
Oh, Chinese camp used to be the worst for a decade.
It was just Deadsville.
Yeah.
Like, here's a camp where you're like, first year.
For running it the way he did.
but prior to that, there were a decade of crap.
Yeah.
Last year they basically just showed you the team.
Like how many times did we come in during training camp and go,
you know, this guy could really have a spot if you just got, did it's anything?
Just go get, go get it.
No, just go get it.
Like it's right there.
Yeah.
Right?
Like here.
Come on.
So yeah, that's great.
Are you going to miss Luchichin-Lewis when you can test drive Zeri, Hunt, Klopka,
Benny Dimes,
who are not like it's
sometimes.
There's at least the kids,
man,
I'm excited.
Benny Dimes.
I do like it.
Come on.
Let's get some games.
Play well,
kid.
Play well.
Who's the fourth line center?
Well,
I think it could be Benny Dimes.
It could be Rizeku.
Apparently looked a little better last night.
Rosie just,
I mean,
we've had the conversation a thousand times.
I know.
Rewin play.
When he's good,
he looks real good.
It's like,
are you a wallflower?
Are you like a really good player?
There's no metal ground, it seems.
Although, Michael Backlin,
there's a few seasons for,
we questioned what he was going to turn into.
Look at that.
How was the great captain?
I feel like age-wise,
Beckland had established herself at this point,
but I do hear what you're saying.
Consistency plagued him early.
Had he, though?
Because how old is...
It was a lot of inconsistency for a while there.
We were shooting them to the moon, too.
Yeah, but I think the difference here is,
I thought Rezitschka solidified himself as an Aitcheller in the fall last year,
and then he just rotted.
He was just disappeared and didn't play.
I don't know at the same age that was happening back.
The nice thing,
like you said,
there's some kids,
this is the benefit,
which was not utilized at all.
We've brought it up ad nauseum of having the heat,
aka the Wranglers,
down the hallway from you.
Use them.
Kid doesn't perform.
Fuck.
Back for you.
Next guy up.
Let's go.
Yeah.
I like your energy.
I don't,
I don't need.
If you show me that you are the guy and you stay there and you
solidify it, awesome.
If you eff it up and you have 10 days of being lame, you go.
Next.
Next.
Next.
You want this.
Here's your shot, bud.
And look,
some guys,
it's like I can give you everything I got in two weeks in and you kind of hit a wall.
Next guy.
Let's go.
Yeah.
Off the top of your head,
Retro.
How old is.
Adam Rizitschka.
23.
Ryan?
He's drafted 18, wasn't he?
So that makes him 23?
Yeah, 24 if he's late birthday.
24.
So to your point,
regardless of how many,
Michael Backlin, I think, at 24,
had kind of started to come on,
had come into his own,
started to get a little bit comfortable with that.
Like, how many games does he play in that?
I know injuries,
he hid that abdominal stuff forever in his 20s,
but I feel like at least he was a full-time NHL.
He had the pinky.
But he was had,
he was a full-time NHL for a lot of injuries.
time too where he wasn't performing.
Yeah. Yeah.
His first full season, well, his first season, he played 23 games, scored one goal.
The following year in 10, 11, 73 games, 10 goals, 25 points.
How old's you there? Seventy three games.
That year, he's 21.
So like, and, and Richardzka hasn't even played full season yet, and he's 24.
It's three years older.
Yeah.
Then battle injuries.
In 11, 12, he plays 41 games, four goals.
12, 13, 32 games, eight goals.
He's injured for a while there.
Goes to Sweden.
Regardless, we don't have to compare Rizchka.
It's not a fair comp.
I guess what it is is Rizchka is older.
He's not a puppy.
That's just it.
And if he doesn't perform, so.
I'm sort of at the point where it's like,
if it isn't this year, it's probably elsewhere.
Yeah.
Do it or don't?
You have some options right now.
Do you want to play in Slovakia?
Do you want to play in the NHL?
This might be your last chance.
And in the same breath, as we say, it's a young man's league and guys are ready sooner.
If we're still waiting for a guy who's already 24, we're talking out of both sides of our mouth.
I just don't know.
Is it possible now?
Because we did see him.
Sutter put him in a spot last year, top six, and the points started to come.
In that fourth line role, he's never looked.
Fourth line with who?
That's true.
It was a lot of Lewis and Luch and that probably wasn't great for him.
But again, it's just a consistency.
He just floats too many games.
And I don't think we are talking about both sides of our mouth.
If he doesn't succeed this year, it's not because of his age and stuff.
It's because he's been given the opportunity now and he didn't do it.
So he wasn't good enough.
Yeah.
Like, because you're 18 doesn't get you a spot on the team.
You still have to be talented.
And I think the kids are more talented than they,
have ever been.
But they need that.
Let's assume that he starts on the big squad and has a ho-hum first month.
And Connor Zeri's got 12 points in 10 games.
What are you doing if you're Connie?
I'm dumping them.
That's where we're at.
Is that thought, again, is that not the beauty of having them right there?
Yeah.
And like, are you worried about having claimed on waivers?
No, I'm not.
Hey, whatever.
Because if you're not going to do it, don't.
And maybe I'm the shittiest GM because I'm not getting paid and my job's not on the line.
and I don't understand how the cap stuff works
or moving up and don't.
But if you're just basing it on performance,
and if he's not performing,
go get someone that is.
Yeah.
And the difference this year might be
when the GM brings a guy in from the minors,
he might actually play.
Yep.
There were occasions in fairness,
or Trill Living did make the call
and brought Pell Cheop or Phillips
or whoever it was at certain times,
and they never got in.
They got to ride the chariot for a few weeks.
And who they play with,
even if they did.
They were going to play with a couple of guys in the same jewelry club from L.A.
Good players, but not great spots to succeed offensively.
On the show tomorrow, Frank Sarajevoly going to join us live in studio.
There you go.
Live in studio.
Correct.
He is doing his Western Canadian swing.
Like Taylor Swift, he's on tour.
You guys got to do.
She's not doing a Western swing.
That's too bad.
You got a what?
Take them up to see our buddy.
Get him some.
Oh, yes.
That's actually a hell of a call.
I don't want to spend too much time with Frank.
Oh, Dean.
What kind of, did you see the bullshit going on in Philly?
On Tuesday night?
Which at the...
More that mob robbing.
Oh, yes.
Like it was a...
I did.
Ooh.
Mob?
Yeah.
Lock your doors.
no,
boino.
Tough town.
It was like,
it was not good.
Well,
it's because Frank's gone.
See what happens
when Frank leaves?
Settles it down
and then just pops the top
right off.
Yeah.
No,
Saravelli was in Vancouver,
went to Edmonton,
he'll be doing the Calgary thing.
Why don't they send us around?
Because you're nowhere to be found.
And you can't answer emails.
That's why.
Yeah,
you don't get emails.
I'm gay,
but you know,
I don't leave the house.
The business side of thing.
emailed me and said, I see I haven't signed into your email in a while.
I'm like, I don't even know what the hell you're talking about.
That's why we're not doing a Western swing.
We joined Flames Nation a year ago.
And neither of these two guys over here have bothered to set up their Flames Nation emails yet.
I have a functional email.
I respond to me emails.
I read my emails.
That's the only difference.
your Flames Nation email?
You have that?
No, all the people at work,
send it to my real email address.
Oh, I see.
Right.
How would you,
Red, how's the,
I don't even know,
like,
what do you mean,
set it up?
Did you have to be invited
to this?
Do they give you something?
Like, what?
I don't even,
oh, there's an email about it.
Did you get that?
How many emails does a guy need?
How about use the email I have
that I don't check?
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
Listen up, guys.
It's not check one.
instead of seven.
The problem with Pinders is he's got like an old one.
Like what's yours about a 1989?
It's like an old car.
And no one knows if it's dotCA or dot com.
So you get about half the emails.
Because people will send it to Ryan Pinder at I'm a dickhead.com.
But actually you're a dickhead.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So you get about half.
Figure it out.
Everyone sends it to a dot com.
What's, uh, so yeah, Frank tomorrow.
You said Vancouver.
Yeah, like one of the sort of low key under the rug storylines of the season.
It's Elias Pedersen's last year of his deal.
He's an R, but I think he's one year away from you because he turns 25.
Take it off of Quinn, give him the C.
That's all he wants to hang? Does he want to hang?
Like, what's he watched since he arrived there?
You tell me what he's seen from that organization.
you can do that for a lot of teams, Ryan.
I was just going to say,
I don't.
It's not like we're holding parades down 17th every other year.
If you'd like to come to.
No, no, no, I don't mean that.
I just like, if you had a 24-year-old 100-point player, it'd be different.
That's what he is, isn't he?
Ask Vegas.
They pick, what Buffalo let him go.
Like, is he going to want out?
I don't know.
It's a nicer city than Buffalo, I guess.
Ryan hates Vancouver.
He was telling me yesterday he'd prefer Winnipeg.
I was telling you, you'd be careful in East Hastings.
Get a needle in your own.
No, I mean, who knows, right?
It's, I would think if I'm Pedersen,
I want to see some vast improvements.
Exactly.
Enough of this S-show GMing he's watched.
Because he's good enough to go anywhere.
He's going to make the same amount of money.
It's just...
He's a, write down your number.
That's what you're making type player.
Yeah.
Most teams in league is your best player.
So if Vancouver gives them that number
And I'm assuming they would
Yeah
Well he would stay
I would say I would
Yeah if he got from 11 times 8 he's probably hanging
Right
That's what teams do though don't they
If you have a star
You give him all the money
And you hope he stays
Except Johnny didn't
Right
So again
You gotta be careful glass houses there a little bit
But no I just think
Again I'm not saying
oh look at Vancouver in trouble.
I'm saying,
this is a storyline
that we're going to
will get talked
as the season goes on
because that's their best player
and they're trying to show him
some success.
And then you were one year away
from getting out from under
the Beagle and Louis Erickson deals
and you brought in OEL
on another cap crushing deal
and gave away ninth overall.
He wants to see some better decision making.
They got new GM.
We'll see her coach.
And got bought out.
That's one of my favorite buyouts ever.
That's a great buyout.
And I know there've been some good ones.
Calilliers is one of the better ones.
You did it twice, didn't he?
Yeah.
But so much term left.
Yeah.
So much money, so much term.
And you just went and got him.
One year away.
The period of time between need this guy and get this guy the F out of here was so short.
Like was it?
Was it even two years?
Like, how long was it?
Wow.
We're in the OEL.
business, we're getting out of the OEL business.
There was a lot of cries immediately when that deal was rumored.
Whoever gets OAL is not buying what they think they're buying.
I know Arizona's bad, but he was bad before he left.
And they thought he was still a good defenseman.
Well, and remember when OEL, and it was probably a couple years before the Vancouver deal
even, when this guy might be available.
Hey, Trilliving was in Phoenix when he was there.
I bet you, Trilliving will bring him in.
even then it was a very good player
change the scenery however it's a lot of money in term left on that deal
and the players plays in decline that was years prior to vancouver making that deal
guess how long they're paying them for decade i forget how long it is it's 2829 he's
still getting paid to not show up to work there oh 28 29
god damn it is he playing where do you go he signed a tampon
didn't he?
Florida, Florida.
Because they were missing Montour and some other guys started the year.
And that's where you love Oweil.
That's one year low money.
Yeah, but it doesn't work.
It doesn't work.
It doesn't work.
There's no risk there.
I want to go to Florida so bad right now.
I want to get,
I want to get paid to just sit at home.
Paid leave,
well,
got it.
You know,
if you're going to get paid,
you don't want to sit somewhere.
He guys want to stay at all these.
Paul Williams.
We told you.
Speech.
Figure of speech.
I want,
I want to get paid to just to not work,
not do anything.
In a way, you are sitting at home.
I'm going to say, you're doing what you're saying.
I'm sitting at home, but I'm not getting paid.
That's the thing. I want to get paid.
I'd like some money.
Some money.
So like you'd be okay.
Any amount of money to do this.
One a year until 28, 29.
It would be great.
Time for the Pinder report.
Village Honda.
Northwest Auto Mall.
Huge selection of used vehicles all makes, all models, all budgets.
70 on site.
You say, hey, you know what?
you're part of this
ownership group,
your dealer group,
you got more?
Like 400 more.
What do you want?
Give me what color?
Big blue, red, green, small,
tall, we'll find it for you.
Tall.
Worth the trip.
Village hot in the Northwest Autumn
all your dealership for life.
Dean, I'm looking for a tall compact car.
Can you help me?
I get a green tall,
Menti Volga.
Yeah.
Yeah, for the good people.
At Village Honda, here is the Pinder Report.
Well, the news of the day, we talked about it,
and we moaned and bitched and whined about the rumored deal,
and then it wasn't.
And it all felt a lot better,
at least relative to the nightmare hellscape that we described yesterday
on the rumored three times five and a half for Michael Backland,
who was signed instead to two years times four and a half
and becomes the 21st captain in Calgary Flames franchise history.
We mentioned 16 seasons.
give this a read with your bad eyes, Dean. Good luck.
Backland. I have a big monitor here. I can actually read it.
Fire away.
Michael Backland was named the 21st Captain of the Flames. The 23-24 campaign will be his 16th with Calgary, tied with Jerome McGinla for the most in franchise history.
There's two players above them games played on the entire history of this club. Do you want to guess who there?
One's on the near. You're in front of you.
One's on the front of me.
Againla.
Yeah.
franchise leader, 1,219.
Jordano 949.
Backland is 41 games behind Jordano.
And if he plays healthy for three years,
which is seriously hard to do at his age,
it's another 240 games that gets them close
to leading this franchise
in its entire history for games play.
Probably needs that one year deal that Rhett says is in the drawer.
That's already in the, yeah,
three years from now.
it's the deal for 26 27
listen I don't want to stir the pot
this just popped into my head
okay
this used to be a big thing
I know it's changed
over the last 10 to 20 years
but for the longest amount of time
there had never been
a non-North American born
captain that had won a Stanley Cup
that's right
to date how many are there
I'd say four or five probably
a non-North American captain
Copatar wasn't captain was he
I was brown when they won their cups
Eisenman not Lidstrom yet
too I think Littstrom
Chara in Boston
Charra was one
that's not like it's a stupid stat
but no it's interesting though
it's just a tidbit
yeah of course Stephen Stamco's
Oh, Vetchkin in 18.
From Stockholm, Sweden.
Fetchkin in 18.
Yeah, it's very rare.
And it was, you could even narrow that list down to just Canadians for a very long time.
Yeah, it was.
Even Americans that took a while.
Brown American, doesn't it?
Yeah, he's in Buffalo.
Just moved back to Buffalo, fellas.
There you go.
Welcome back.
$15 million house in L.A.
Dusty Brown.
Oh.
That's a nice ad to the coaching staff.
Four boy Brown.
Bring him over, recruit him.
Get him on the coaching staff.
Oh, he's there.
It's got the jewelry.
He's there.
I've seen him.
Y'all have some Daryl stories.
Woo, we.
I was going to walk up to him with a picture of drunk regear and say, you know this guy.
Have you seen this man?
Let's move from Backland.
Well, how did they get done?
Like, Elliot's never off.
Never.
We put a lot of faith.
We had a massive debate yesterday for like an hour.
It was 21 minutes.
I listened to it again.
I thought it was actually really good.
It would actually be fun to go back and listen to it because I think we all made very valid points.
And luckily, the contract we were afraid of never transpired.
That's right.
So why didn't it transpire?
Red.
Remember?
I got a text right now.
You can't do this.
Ret, I want to see that text you sent to Connie.
Brett in the show yesterday, texted Conroy.
You can't do this.
Too much.
And I gave Jesse the stink guy.
You gave Jesse the stink guy.
Yeah, because she listens to the show Conroy does and his wife does.
Oh, I see. Yeah, I know. She does. That's what I understand.
Like, fan.
No, like, is it a daddy surprise? She's running everything.
Of course.
Of course. She is.
Heck of a deal. Two times four and a half.
Last night, we saw the highlights, but let's revisit the save. You saw a piece of it.
This is Dustin Wolf trying to bounce back after five goals.
On the road, it gets a better Winnipeg squad.
And look at this is the real double win.
One, two, baby.
Okay, can we replay that because that's athleticism?
Because I think he actually falls and gets back up.
He does.
I mean, he's way out there.
If you see when Nemesnikov comes in, there it is.
He's an athlete, right now.
That's amazing recovery.
I don't know when it happens and I don't know what he ends up being.
But God, this is an exciting prospect that we sometimes gloss over and forget.
just because they have, you know, a starter and a backup.
I don't know how it's going to work this year.
I'm very, very intrigued.
When Mike Smith fell forward onto his belly,
it was turtle, turtle, turtle.
Yeah, they had the chalk outline there for a while.
It was like a dead body.
Wolf managed to chettison himself back and make the save.
I like this guy.
Let's not have Wolf and Smith be comparable.
Yeah, that's.
Please.
Please.
Just.
Oh.
separate.
Let's move to the NFL, fellas.
It's a Thursday nighter tonight.
All right.
This line is moving, boys.
It was one and a half yesterday.
It's now two that the lions are laying on the road
against a two and one Green Bay team.
And I've seen two and a half in some places.
So you might want to, if you like Detroit,
grab it on Betway before that goes to two and a half.
What do we think about tonight's game?
Thursday nighters are usually snooze fest.
These are the two best teams in the NFC Norris.
one of these teams
go to playoffs.
You keep saying NFC Norris?
It's a Chris Bermanism.
Love Burman.
Oh, okay.
Sorry.
Do you know.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Any vibes tonight?
I love the Lions,
but I think there's still
much like the Bills
and the Jets
and the Chargers,
there's still the Lions.
There is a lot of whoopty-doo
coming in about the Lions.
We're not Detroit.
It's a different Detroit.
We're different.
We're different.
You win on the.
He's an opener at Arrowhead.
Amon Ross St. Brown's been dealing with turf toe.
Montgomery, potentially.
He's questionable for tonight.
Yeah, Montgomery's been dinged up.
Gibbs isn't getting, well, I don't know that he's not getting the ball enough.
But he, uh, was it what?
That's a tight end of that.
Leporta, you got to trade him to me.
Leporta.
Quinton Johnston, Chargers rookies, yours if you give me Leporta.
Don't make that trade.
You know what?
To get a tight, a good tight end.
Jack.
I'll take the muth then.
If you want the port, I'll take the muth.
You got two.
You can't start them both.
No, Jack attack,
because Jack attack is in on the muth.
Oh, he is for sure.
That whole line is in the muth.
He's all over the muth.
The mute is luth,
hey, Jackie, boy?
I need them.
Yeah, you do.
You want him,
Jackie?
Just make an offer, baby.
What do you think?
Ryan, what do you got minus two lines on the road?
I like the whole team there, I think.
Well, he keeps moving.
Like, if they're going to give me two and a half,
I can't not take that a day.
Is Dobbs playing?
It's not Dobbs that they're worried about.
It's Watson, if I'm correct.
Because Watson doesn't play.
They both have hamsters, actually.
But Dobbs has been playing.
And Watson hasn't played yet.
He's the explosive big play guy that you saw connect with Aaron Rogers last year and really
be like, woo, like that's your big play.
But they're two and one without him.
I would check.
So that's what you're checking on that.
Check on Watson.
Check on Dobbs and is Aaron Jones playing because he played week one and then has missed the last two.
Yeah.
So it's a good.
point. Like I wouldn't, I would want to get closer to game time and know who's in and out.
If there's no Watson, I'm less bullish on Green Bay at home. Ditto for, you know, like Aaron Jones
a big part of that. Good game though. I'm excited about this. We're going to go in there, man.
We're going to bite your kneecaps, man. We'll come over. We're coming to Lambo. Take a dump right
on your, right in your field and Lambo, man. Love Dan Campbell.
You haven't watched, you've been talking a lot about hard knocks. If you haven't watched the
Detroit when you got to go back and watch it.
apparently just superb.
They're all great, but that one's great.
Major League Baseball, something happened yesterday
that's never happened ever in the history of this billion-year-old game.
Billion.
His name's Ron, old, Acuna, Jena.
Yeah.
That's good stuff.
40-70s and unlike the base and take a bound.
40-70.
Home runs.
It's deals.
Yeah.
That's pretty impressive.
4040 was amazing.
Yes, and still it is.
I'm drank of 40, and it ain't good.
Do you ever play Edward 40, Hans?
Ape Amon.
I got to pee.
I'm walking in the river.
I don't care, man.
Exciting player.
Awesome.
Again, they changed the rules.
40-70's crazy.
Yeah, yeah.
Base steel and their bigger basis,
shorter distance.
You can only throw over twice, but still,
70 is bleeping nuts.
Never mind when you,
mix in a guy that hits 40.
How could you be that quick and that powerful?
Impressive stuff. Braves are good.
Braves are looking like maybe one of the best teams ever assembled in baseball.
Like a young Dean Bulberg.
Very much so.
That's what I think of.
Quick Twitch.
Powerful.
Ronald a Boomer Jr.
That's what they call him.
Staying with baseball?
Only your Achilles would have held out.
Never.
Your putrid Yankees have one very good baseball player.
Well, maybe two.
Yeah, what happened last night?
One pitches and one hits.
And the guy who pitches is the best pitcher in the American League.
And I don't know how long it took him to get that spider attack back on without getting noticed, but he is back.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm teasing.
Gear Colesman phenomenal.
He's going to win the Cy Young.
He was asked post game, have you allowed your case to sink in, i.e., you know, the season you put together.
I think he's done for the year.
There's only, what, four games left for the Yankees, he won't pitch again.
Yeah, I've let it sick in.
I'm on my second Labats.
That's his case.
It's kind of a worried about.
Yeah.
Pittsburgh, Houston, big money for the Yankees.
It ain't his fault.
They're no good this year.
It ain't judge's fault.
It's everyone else's fault and probably the GM's fault.
And how did he get those two?
Who do you like?
That latest win.
How did that come about?
Two hit shutout, Dean.
Dominant over the Blue Jays.
Two hit shutout.
Really, really kind of ramping up their play to head into October here are the Blue Jays.
Kings killed them.
Coles killed them.
You better win today, boys.
Scoreless in the last two.
Is that correct?
Yes.
Weaver against
Bastards.
So much for 30, hey? Vlad.
He's going to
get three minutes and knife. He's going to get there.
25 still.
More than that in Betway, by the way.
Can't wait.
Can't wait. Can't wait.
We'll move to the NBA.
Blockbuster deal yesterday.
Dame is leaving Portland.
Lillard till Milwaukee
to join Janus.
Big trade.
You're big on the hoopstret.
Break this down for us.
Wow.
The little, the biggest piece of that is Nurik.
With the sons, without that player in the mix,
it's probably not going to happen in this trade.
Tell us about him.
Yeah, he's a dunker and a dimer.
He's got a fast twitch,
he's fast twitch and powerful.
Speed and power.
Yeah, he had a 4070 double triple level.
Lillard is not bad either.
Come for the baloney talk, but stay for the basketball inside.
I'm a dunker and a dimer.
make that t-shirt for tomorrow
then you need new pen
dunker and a dimer
blue
what color's Milwaukee

This is a TV disaster.
This is in Rome, by the way,
and the live guys are not eligible.
So the Americans are out a lot of their best players.
Meanwhile,
why aren't the live guys?
I thought it was a partnership.
Well, they haven't finished that whole thing yet, I suppose.
I think down the road they'll be able to,
but not for this bad boy.
Come on, guys.
Yeah, come on, Saudi.
Just give everyone more money.
Smooth this thing over.
Rom has been sensational.
McElroy had a really strong year.
and no one in the world probably harder than Victor Hovlin
who won that $18 million to a championship
and did this in a practice round yesterday.
Par four.
Short par four.
Little sneak preview of the European team.
That's an albatross.
What?
One day.
Hello.
One three to three one.
That is the extra stiff shaft.
Thursday.
He's like, what's no big deal.
That's just what I do nowadays.
Good to be him right now.
After tax, 10 million for his tour championship.
Look at it.
Okay, much like most things in life,
did you see the caddy guy behind with the camera phone?
Like, you're playing at the Ryder Cup.
They've got the $800,000 cameras on every hole watching you.
You're going to get this on the gram.
What's happening on the shin there?
Has he got some shin strap?
He's got some shin uplands.
Yeah.
His golf legs are heavy.
tennis d those tour bags they're different dean they're not like our bags they got all kinds of crap in there
look at a bad wheel oh i got it on my phone uh who do you cheer for in this or do you care
america versus europe i i love it there's the usa chance the europeans look down their nose of the
americans if it was not in rome and i can actually watch it like live then i'd be cheering for the
americans i guess but it's going to be so irrelevant with the time i agree yeah
I was a
boom,
I'll be up.
I'll be up.
Yeah,
I'll let you guys know.
I'll let you know.
I just find the Europeans
are so hoity tooty.
It's our game and this and that.
The Americans are so hard to take
because they're Americans.
They're just chanting USA.
Like,
Jesus,
shoot me in the face.
It's like enough.
I can't handle that chance.
What do you do with the shoveler?
If you want to get her a little spicy,
you pretend it's here for the Euros,
right, on a Friday for us?
She's spicy without me,
egging her on.
Do you ever find out what was making noise
yesterday during the show?
You know what?
What or who?
Convenience.
recently, Razor just dropped off his kid's hockey bag out.
So I'm like, oh, again, Razor, again, while the show's on.
We're waving it right in front of his face.
He's really got a got an eye on your schedule.
Hey, he knows exactly when your show is on, what you're doing with your life.
Yeah, that show going on in the morning, too, that's not the podcast.
Curtains.
He's busy again, Robert.
Busy.
Hockey.
Dog check.
All games.
Yeah.
Sabre.
Oh, that's right.
Three for the sabers.
They're going to be exciting, boys.
That's going to be a far from Manhattan.
Or will it,
or will it be a Detroit Lions where you're the same old
Sabres.
Okay.
Well, look, the same old Sabres is what last year?
A really exciting team that missed.
Like, they were still fun to watch last year.
That's not true.
You know what I'm saying.
I just mean over the years, the Sabers.
If they lose is that 11 in a row or 12 without make the playoffs?
Oh, God.
It's, yeah, it's,
one of the longest.
I know it's a decade at least.
I don't know if this year.
They're on their third rebuild, I think.
Yeah.
So they were getting all hot and bothered over Devin Levi the other day online.
Must have had a solid performance.
I worry about him and Wolf.
I worry about it.
Smaller guys.
Yeah.
It's a sneaky little deal.
They get him thrown in in that Florida soap, I think, for Reinhardt.
Good work.
I think it was Ronhart.
Okay.
Elsewhere, we'll close it out.
This was not Victor Hovlin.
We showed you the Hovlin shot.
It went in.
This one definitely was a direct hit.
It just wasn't into the hole.
This is a professional.
Bit of a spoiler on there.
Not in Rome.
Oh.
Jeez.
Boom.
Oh, my God.
Jeez.
Oh, I didn't reply.
Not funny.
The gunshots out effect is over the top.
It's a greene.
Yeah.
Like, he collapses.
This is out of cold.
Why do we take so much pleasure in like people getting severely hurt?
Like you love physical comedy, Dean.
It buckles you every time.
Like what happens because he kind of.
It joltz up the head and then topples over.
Like not funny.
Ouch.
Right on the button.
Zoinks!
That is like straight out of a Looney Tunes cartoon.
Hope you're okay, buddy.
Couple more.
And we did check.
And just so we checked on that, man, he is okay.
So there's no need to worry.
He is just fine.
Our laughter is not insensitive.
He's also laughing about it.
And his family is much richer after his passing.
It's good.
We can all laugh about it today.
Uh, Rhett was so practicing the hoops.
You know, he's a big hoopsster.
He's a, he's a dunker in a timer.
He's a dime.
He's getting warmed up.
So he's got the net nice and lovely.
here because he wants to show off his moves with that low net.
Oh, geez.
Having a time.
Trying to show off right.
You miss it and then you're frustrated.
Bang right off the ground in your face.
That hurts.
What happens when you're on a screen too much,
kids?
You're trying to show off?
This is where you end up.
He's an athlete.
He's a diner.
He's not a dunker.
Not a diner.
No.
Now, you always wonder, like, is this real or is this AI, Dean?
I am skeptical, yes.
So here is the world's craziest slip and slide.
Is this AI? Is this real?
What are we watching here?
Three three, two, one, get it.
Oh, over the water.
But watch closely.
I think this is a crash test.
I mean, this is an AI.
They're testing it.
Watch how it flops over, limbs.
That's like a fake kid.
human. That's an unconscious human. I think when you're unconscious, your limbs flail like that.
But you, I've watched it a few times. It wasn't until a third or fourth time. We're slowly here.
I think this is a, that's a big. Oh. Oh, the leg. Look at the knee. Yes. Good call pinder.
Not AI, but a dummy. And they just posted it and you're like, there's no follow up. Is this guy dead? Like, why is everyone laughing?
like, oh, they're testing it out first.
Ruining the internet.
Finally, it's Friday for some in Australia.
They're a day ahead of us,
but they had the news the same time we did

You got all of his clips to start your day, Dean.
We're getting spoiled.
With Ozzy Brad.
Well, the NHO was just there. He's wound up.
How lucky is he? You think we're getting spoiled.
He's just like, I've been trying to follow the sport on the other side of the world.
They just came to Melbourne?
What?
guys unbelievable.
We're going to get the Hortichucks out of that story next week.
Don't mind if I line that up?
You should do it tomorrow because I'm not going to be on.
Well, we got Frank tomorrow.
Oh, yeah, in studio.
Thanks for going to set heads up, though.
I'm sure that's in the calendar.
I'm putting that spreadsheet.
Yeah, you did.

Hearing loss clinic continue to do amazing work.
They continue to wait for me to come in for my follow-up.
You're going to have to leave your house for that, right? That's the problem here.
Yeah, we'll get there. We'll get there. But, I mean, the reports are great.
Hearing, I was going to take that. I told you about the hearing, the hearing aids.
that I was talking with Rhodesy.
Travis Roossey.
With AI in that.
They have some now that,
for,
obviously for probably for people who are older,
the hearing aids with AI
and motion detection,
if you have a fall
or you have an accident in your house,
the hearing aids,
no end contact.
Come on.
Your hearing aids do it.
Your hearing aids do it?
Your hearing aids do it.
Your hearing aids do it.
They give you mouth to mouth.
It's unbelievable.
They pop right out, hop on top, chest compressions.
It's crazy.
It's not accurate.
It's not accurate.
But no, I mean, the technology with hearing aids has come so far.
Bluetooth, it's great.
That's, it's all Bluetooth now.
Go and check it out.
Here's the thing.
You may not, and I've said this before, you may not even know.
It's just worth a visit.
Nothing going on?
Peace of mind?
Perfect.
They're as happy as you are.
Something going on.
That's when they spring into action and will help you out.
Hearingloss.
C.A.
Locations in BC, Cranbrook, Creston, Fernie, Golden, and Invermere.
And of course, in Calgary, they have four locations to serve you better.
Hearingloss.
I got talking like Ozzy Brad in there.
Did you?
They got five locations of BC.
I crambron.
I can crash.
That gets into my head.
Have to work.
Couple stubbies.

A couple stubbies.
And a pelt j.

Titties.
Yeah.
Something like that.
So no rent tomorrow.
Is that of anything to do,
Wrette with that nearly year long,
outstanding debt you owe to Frank?
Is he going to be here?
No, it's four-day work week.
You're on a bottle, right?
I was going to say it was a three-day work week,
what last week?
No, how many did you work?
Are we really going to talk about workload?
Yeah, sure.
Is that what we want to get into?
I'm fine with it.
I'm very comfortable with this discussion.
Okay, so I did three last week.
How many did you do?
Three.
I'm doing five this week.
How many are you doing?
Four.
My math ain't good, but already I win.
And my guess is over the winter.
I keep winning.
I actually think you lose.
All you do is win, win, win,
no matter what.
Yeah.
You keep winning all you want.
Yeah, stack and Ws.
Yeah, no kidding.
Well, you know what?
When it's all over in a year,
we'll do the math.
and we'll see how it goes from there.
I still feel like I'm winning.
Yeah.
One more year.
One more year and we'll all be winning.
I was going to mention,
and I had this,
I didn't see it until just now,
Tower Chrysler Studios, Tower Chrysler.
They are pushing,
it's the brown bagging,
the brown bagging for kids.
Awesome campaign,
brown bagging for Calgary kids.
For every car sale
that's done over.
over a tower they're donating if you want to donate and get be a part of this without buying a car come and donate in person huge initiative they i guess it was a couple
couple months ago a month ago they they try to because the thing with nicky over there she's always finding
new charities new things new initiatives to help up with they did brown begging for calgary kids
and i think they went and actually they were in there making the lunches have you ever done that because i know
the flames alumni does yes we have and that's why you know how i know or talk to people and how i'm
important it is and how big a deal it is for the kids that get this stuff. And because I'm such a
worldly person, there's been many a study done, how to change the world for the better. What's the one
thing you can do? Feed kids. Feed kids. You want to improve the world? Feed kids. And again,
not a great, but the number of kids in our city, which Calgary, thriving city, right? The number of kids that go to
school without lunches is staggering.
So Serge and Nikki and a bunch of the people from Tower went there.
They were making lunches.
They saw, like you say, just how important and how much of a need that there is.
So they're back in again.
Look, they have to make 6,500 lunches per day to keep up with the demand.
6,500 lunches.
Help out, Tower Chrysler, doing their part, donate, stop in.
Good people.
Tower Chryser, here in the Tower Chrysor Studios.
Let's do some.
Now, we kind of talked about it already,
maybe gave away the Betway bets.
Were you doing the reason I football for Betway?
Betway bets?
I got a baseball bet and I got a football bet.
Betway.
Get the Betway up in your phone.
Betway, Betway, Betway, bet the responsible way with Betway.
Let's start in the majors.
It is not a rubber match.
The Yankees have won the series.
Jay's need to start winning a game, two games.
Gosh, three would be lovely that you getting the playoffs.
They host the Yankees in the finale.
It's not going to be king.
It's not going to be Cole.
That's good news.
The bad news, they have not been.
sniffing anything. Zero runs. It's tough to be. Vladdy though, four home runs in his last 10 games.
Paying plus 375. Okay. Maybe this is a spot. He gets back on track. Been a decent run here in September for him.
Thursday night football. I'm going Jordan Love over one and a half touchdown passes. He's from seven this year.
He's kind of been enigma. It's been quite a debut for the longtime understudy of Aaron Rogers.
We'll see if we can continue that tonight at home, potentially,
with Christian Watson back in the fold and a part of that offense.
Over one and a half touchdown passes, pays plus 150.
Thoughts.
You go back to last week and because I've kind of watching Red Zone, right?
And the Saints are putting up points and the offense is sputtering.
And no Aaron Jones and no Christopher Watson.
This is hard.
Love second half, fourth quarter.
And touchdown, touchdown, game over.
There you go.
Yeah, I don't know.
I think he's a very good quarterback.
I don't know that you go from Fav to Rogers to having another Hall of Famer necessarily,
but I think they're just fine with this guy.
Well, and to be fair, like, I think the jury was very much out on whether this guy was going
to be a good NFL quarterback, but they've overcooked and that's their formula there.
That's what they did with Rogers.
He sat and watched Fav, and it's like, he's looking a lot better than I think people thought
he would.
He's been very good out of the gate.
Seven touchdowns, one pick, I believe, through three weeks.
I want to cheer for the last.
lines, but I don't know if I can.
Why? Talk us through that.
Because they frustrates. I've already got a team to lose my marbles over, right?
Like, I don't need to latch on to another one.
Minus two on the road.
And two and a half, it seems like that's the direction is moving, showing up some places.
I'll check that way again, but it's been moving.
He's one and a half yesterday.
That means money's coming in on Detroit.
Going to the game, Sunday retro?
That's a big game.
It's going to be awesome.
Beauty Day. I have to wait and see
how the idiots play, because if
they win, they might have, I might be going
in different directions.
And the idiots are your kids,
not the bills, just to clarify?
Yes. Right. They, the line
opened minus two and a half for Buffalo at home.
How do we feel? Miami
coming off that 70 point thrashing
of the Broncos last week.
Vibes? Vibes? I'm a bills
fan, so I feel like we're going to win,
but I don't know. Both teams
kind of cruised last week.
week, right? Certainly the dolphins did. Even the bills. There was not a lot of
puckering going on for the bills. No. I just always feel, because everyone's talking
about the Broncos and their defense, they're going to be better. They got ashamed and
embarrassed last week. I think they show up and play better. I just wonder which
team is going to come back down to earth. They're not going to score 70, but what are the
dolphins is waddle back in. And for the bills, I don't know, just you talk about the
I just feel like they're so fragile
that as soon as something starts to go wrong
you just feel like, oh, this is a, it's a Buffalo thing.
Of course, the roof's going to fall in because we're Buffalo.
You know what?
What's the over?
Because I think it's going to be a lot of points scored.
It should be a big number of these two offenses.
Yeah, what's the weather is supposed to be like?
As long as it's not windy wet, you see some offense here.
Beautiful weather.
And that's the, sir,
I called it the morning.
So that's the 1 p.m. Eastern game.
Yeah, it's 1 p.m. Eastern.
Right.
That's the, that is my red zone block.
Like that morning window out here on red zone,
Dean, that is like the best three hours.
So good. Best. Oh, so many games.
A witching hour.
Oh.
53 and a half is you're over under on Betway.
I'm still going over.
I mean, how could you know that after seeing what Miami's done?
They put up a ton of points against the church.
A ton of points against the Broncos.
I don't trust the ball.
The bills can move the ball.
the ball and I don't trust the bill's defense at all and clearly the Miami's defense isn't good either right so I just think that it's a it's a track me bad be a James Cook day Miami's run to no good I like the note from last week to a tongue of Iloa two four touchdowns two with each hand is that right he should because he's left I was flying when that game was the one to eight the one to Achan for sure but he did that kind of a forward shovel with his non throwing hand so had two
Two with two with his left and two with his right.
Has that ever happened?
I mean,
Hobbes has done one.
Holmes, maybe.
Yeah, maybe.
But to have Brady used to do it.
Crazy.
And there was, what, 10 touchdowns in that game?
10 total?
Mostard had four in his own.
H&HN had two on the ground.
So that's six and then the four.
Yeah.
10 touchdowns.
Oh, my God.
Our football picks tomorrow, by the way, Dian.
It'll be fun.
Football picks tomorrow.
Ret, do you want to send those into Jackie?
Now, Rhett, question.
You've got to straighten out your process here on picks.
Yeah, so are you making one pick?
Are you going Cowboys, Bills, regardless?
And if you are still in the Cowboys, I'm curious why.
Because I have DAC.
How do you feel about that?
Not the best.
Dallas hosting New England,
six and a half the spread.
They need to win by a touchdown.
England's always tough.
I don't think they're good, but there's tough.
You know what I mean?
Dallas has to be better than last game, don't think?
Oh, God, they were awful.
They got beat by Arizona.
Everyone thought Arizona was the worst team in the NFL before the season started.
And after what they did to, what was it, the Jets and who was week one?
Like Dallas, very good, the first two games.
Well, they thumped the Giants, right?
Yeah, there you go.
Shut them out, 40 to 9th.
Mike McCarthy, Bill Belichick.
I know who I like there.
Just to go to mind.
This is the problem.
You're sticking me with the Cowboys.
last week you wouldn't give me the Cowboys, even though I'm just looking for care.
You can,
you can take them or leave them.
I don't,
I'm not sticking you with anybody.
I just for clarity,
because I am.
I'm wondering if maybe you should deviate away from your,
your cowboy love a little bit.
You can still cheer for DAC,
but say,
I'm going to take the six and a half points with the visitors.
I'll decide overnight.
I've got to sleep on it.
Okay.
That means he's going to forget to send the pics in.
Check your email.
That's what it'll be.
No,
we talked on Thursday.
I said I was not taking them.
Yeah, no.
It's got both sides again on us.
How did you do that?
Get that Betway app.
Get it on your phone and play along.
Watch those lines.
Like Ryan says,
they're constantly changing on the morning of.
Who's in, who's out?
All right, how does that affect what you're doing?
Today, perfect example.
Like Watson, Jones, Montgomery,
Dobbs, like, those ins and outs
are going to affect the line still.
There you go.
Good stuff.
A bad way.
Wait, wait, wait, was there anything else I needed to,
I was getting some messages here throughout the show.
Can you make sure you do this?
Can you do that?
Have we got this?
Can we make sure?
Did that?
Did that?
I think we might be, uh,
I think we might be home free, gentlemen.
I'm going to say we're home free.
I'm seeing the videos from Darcy Hortichick's trip to Oz.
This looks good.
We've got to catch up with them next week.
I'm going to book that.
Good guy.
Good guy, Darcy Hortichick.
Have a great day, everybody.
tell somebody about the show if you like it.
If you don't, just keep on moving.
Just keep it moving.
Subscribe and like and enjoy the football game.
Yeah, good one.
Tonight.
Hopefully the baseball game doesn't suck.
Yeah.
Don't care less.
Some guys.
There you go.
See you buddies.
