And away we go.
It was right before us.
It's today.
Is today?
Friday?
You can throw the flat.
It is flat.
February almost out there because February is almost over.
Could we do it every day?
Oh, my God.
This is the last day.
We'll see why I had to do a show tomorrow.
You guys want to come in tomorrow?
Do you want to come in tomorrow?
There could be a watch party.
They play.
It's true.
It's true.
You never know.
And as well.
Friday is Hawaiian shirt day.
So, you know, if you want to go ahead and
wear a Hawaiian shirt and jeans.
Dean's got the cover up on the beach because he got...
That's right. I swim with a shirt on it.
Get the moo-moor there.
Trust us the Hawaiian underneath.
He's a bit red under that.
Jack, you got...
Has it really caught on like I'd hope
three years ago.
You know what, though? It hasn't affected your enthusiasm
for it. You're undeterred.
Oh, yeah.
Every Friday, you fire it out there.
I'm too stubborn.
Retro's on board.
As soon as I saw his shirt,
I threw it on. This is my only
Hawaiian shirt. It stays right behind me.
The hardest part is to remember to put it on Friday.
It's usually banged up after a good Thursday.
That's why when I,
yeah, questions.
It's why when I played junior,
I just love my suit,
right on the bus.
Just leave it on the bus.
It's always there.
Three years.
Same suit.
So let's walk through that.
One suit.
It was kind of purple.
Yeah.
Kind of a black tie.
Yeah.
So the suit was worn from the bus into
rinks and from rinks to the bus.
so you might not have ever walked more than a kilometer in it.
It's all the move.
And they didn't use the bus for other things.
It was just your bus.
It was our bus.
Very smart.
Bad heater in that bus.
TV was no good.
What else did you?
These kids nowadays, hof, they're spoiled.
Imagine if you went on that bus.
The parents would be like, no.
We're not putting our kid on this bus.
There's no chance.
Why is there a cigarette machine in the back?
Warner!
Welcome to the show.
It is a presentation of Bet365 game props, player props,
We got totals.
We got money live.
We've got so much more than that.
It's not even that's,
you don't even appreciate what it is, do you?
You don't.
Whatever your bet is,
it's never ordinary at Bet365.
Download the app and get in on the game.
You must be 19 years of age or older.
And of course,
Bent Response free.
Whoa.
Two banger today for the Super Chat.
Youth Centers of Calgary will receive whatever financial contributions
come in during the live portion of the show in the YouTube chat.
It's for the kids.
It is for the kids.
That's right. That's what we do what we do.
That's what we have. We have a little kumbaya before the show.
We sit down like that guys.
You know, flames, win or lose or, you know, old medals, silver medals, all that.
Remember, at the end of the day, it's for the kids.
Don't forget that.
Yeah.
Then we kind of give each other a little one of those.
Excuse me?
Have a seat.
I'm still waiting for mine.
McLeod Law Studios.
A little chilly today.
We were all, I think we were all kind of saying, didn't really know it was going to snow.
I was at the Stu Pappar yesterday.
He walked out.
Is it back in business, Stu?
What was happening with the Stu?
It was a little issue.
They had something with the ice plant went sideways.
There was a thought that they couldn't get it back.
You had pneumonia?
Yeah.
Todd told me about it last night.
Jeez.
Todd Warner?
No, Todd.
I'm pulling a blank.
His kid played.
Todd the ball.
He played buffs.
Probably around the time your kid was.
Todd Button.
Oh, and then he went to try cities for,
a cup of coffee.
Oh, bad.
Bad on Rett. Anyway.
It's fine. They're a nice plan issue, and they got
lacrosse coming in in like a month, and they're like,
we don't know if we're going to be able to... And they're twining this
rink? No, there's a new twin built right next to
dump it. Yeah.
Don't dump it. They're jumping it.
And you don't need two sets of stairs in an arena for
like it's... You know what you need?
Prehistoric. More arenas.
Correct. That's where they're building a double to replace the singles.
You can't argue with somebody.
I understand what you're saying.
I'm not stupid.
I'm saying we could still,
three is better than two.
Two is better than one.
Staircases or not.
Yeah.
Totally.
It's antiquated and old.
I think if they thought they could keep Stu in good running condition longer,
they would have kept it.
But I think the thought was this is coming up to the end of its life cycle.
Stu.
Stu.
Never liked that, name.
Stewart?
A lot of people didn't at different points.
You were talking about McLeod Law in our wonderful studio.
don't need a new studio.
Nope.
It's great.
McLeodlaw.
Thank you,
McCleadlaw.
Cloud.
Dashlaw.com.
Taking care of you,
whatever your potential legal needs are,
serious or just routine,
business or personal.
It's all McLeod Law,
Calgary-based,
proud of those Calgary routes,
Calgarians themselves.
I almost had to call them this morning.
Oh, dear.
Deal with my road rage.
Oh, no.
Shady drivers up.
Do they have a road rage division?
Is that Peter Klein?
Oh, yeah.
Just calm up.
Yeah.
Twisted off.
I think they have that 20.
24 hour rule for that one.
Right.
Kind of like minor hockey.
It's like, don't call.
The shoveler ripped someone in the parking lot
of the stoop apart last night.
Really?
Yeah.
She was backing out.
So there was a lady walking.
And there was another car that wanted to come in.
He started honk and he rolled his window down.
You've got a camera.
She's like, I'm, yeah.
And I'm waiting for the lady so I don't run her over you.
Idiot.
Things are tight.
one the other days and again you know your heads kind of you're all over the place red light
car me or wasn't even red no i know what happened either way it was car beside you something yeah
and i'm kind of like i'm paying attention oh yeah but the car in front starts to move so that i kind of
start to move and then it's guy in front of me is like what the fuck is a matter with go on
Are we going or not?
Get her going.
Yeah.
It's like, that'd be tough to defend.
Well, you were sitting still and I ran into you.
What's your problem?
Would you wake the fuck up?
It happens.
See, when the cars be, that happens when the cars beside you said, I've had.
The whole, our group, as a group, we start moving.
Yeah.
This donkey in front is like, get off your phone, you jackass.
I would need Peter Klein.
If we were.
We're going to see those fellows next week.
We are excited about that.
I wonder why the techies can't come
up with a your phone doesn't work while you're driving i'm sure if they wanted to they could i know
there's a driving mode oh we'd hate that you would hate that nobody don't just they're telling us
we can't do this and they control it through the new the radio it's bad enough when you try and
put in if you using a GPS or putting something in there it's like an adult i i got to be in park
just i can i'm fine one remember the old days you think of the fall
was bad. Remember when you had the map out?
Sure.
Map.
It was not that long ago.
It was recommended to me.
I was going on a trips. Well, you should stop by
CAA and grab some maps.
Right. Load up.
For what's that for? Well, yeah, they'll
get you a map. Are you a member?
I am. I have been a
CA member for a long time.
Very happy with my membership. Yeah, if you go, they will
give you maps and they'll even kind of highlight what
route you should take. Go to do these
maps, putting them on the wall.
We can have scrapbook.
The map on the wall looks good.
Look at this.
See, now the techie dorks are recording us.
See that?
Bastards.
Nobody.
It was turned on.
They were recording our talk.
Oh, dear.
I guess it's on YouTube.
So if they really wanted.
Yeah.
Calgary Flames.
Go into San Jose last night.
Pull out a 4-1 win.
Tale of the two cities.
Cities.
Yeah.
San Jose and Calgary.
San Jose.
Bay and the city of the bay.
Shot 16 to 6 for the sharks in the first period.
There was a long stretch of time there.
Kelly Rudy was talking about.
Flames is not having had a shot on goal.
Clear ice on the other end.
Very long time.
Did that guy have to give him a fellas at the intermission or what?
Fellas.
I'm going to need some shots.
And then it started to turn a wee bit, 1210 sharks in the second.
And then the flames get her going in the third.
I'm proud of them.
I don't like it.
The boys played hard.
and the boys played hard.
They played how you wanted
to play. I would be
excited about the
how do I say this? Because yesterday we were
in here and we were like, oh, San Jose,
good, up and good boy, yeah.
And we have not seen them play
a 60 minute game. I thought they were okay for
some of last night, good in the first
you know what I mean? But
they don't look like
an unbeatable squad by any stretch.
No, not yet, no.
And so I don't know what to make.
of them and I thought the flames played hard played good wolf was awesome yeah this is the issue
wolf's too good was I was scrubbing down before bed last night pardon me okay what
showering up shoulders if wolf wins you is this is five to 10 extra a year right like that's 10 to 20
points that yeah this is the issue with the rebuild or the re-biggle or whatever this is the warner
washup he thinks about the game in the shower that's right do my best toll art dean scrub down last
night.
A little scrolling.
Yeah.
Jeez.
Can we get them the hell out of here?
Can we send them down?
Can you, what can we do?
He doesn't them down.
He was very good.
San Jose.
He wants to play well.
That's the hometown thing, right?
10 and two, I think, now, all time against San Jose.
10 and two, like we're talking about driving.
That's right.
Jeez, everything comes.
Yep.
It all comes together.
Yeah, 34 saves for Wolf.
Sharks 04 and one in their last five.
The Flames have won three of their last four.
It was another one of those games we've talked about.
but a little bit for some coaches,
you know,
if I could just get my guys to,
just need the work ethic and that.
The flames don't struggle with that.
I would think that in some ways,
the flames would be a bit of an envy
of some highly skilled teams.
We would love to be able to.
I think that is a feather in the cap of the coach
in the leadership group because there are seasons
that are similar to the flames other franchises are having
and you don't see this type of work ethic and commitment.
And that doesn't.
doesn't mean that they've, you know,
summited Mount Everest and everyone throw flowers.
But let's remember a lot of teams in this spot,
it can get really ugly.
They continue to work.
And they did last year.
Zeri gets a goal,
Backland, the empty netter,
and two for Nazam-Kadry.
Come on, Naz, let's go.
See, I don't think,
all right,
everyone knows who Nazim Kathers.
Exactly.
Yeah, okay.
I'm with you.
I mean, you'd rather have him hot?
What do we say?
I read slowing up the look.
This is great.
If he's good or bad on a Thursday night in San Jose.
That's not going to change.
Oh, geez.
Well, we have this whole scouting report of the last 15 years on NAS,
but I saw him last night.
We better change some things.
Is that the message?
Or is that what you were getting asked?
Or because I was thinking maybe you were suggesting,
well, he's going to crank it up so that he can get himself out.
I think he is going to crank it up because he's trying to get out of here.
I was also thinking on the drive home.
Before the scrub day.
Before the scrub down.
Wash up, scrub down.
You shouldn't be addressing this, man.
Because if he gets injured,
then what?
And then he got drilled.
And I'm like, oh, man, there you go.
Took a good shot from Orlov.
Missed maybe a shift.
He can't, I mean, obviously he came back and scored.
He was fine.
I've had this conversation with people a lot.
They're like, why wouldn't you bubble wrap?
He and Coleman and whoever else you think is a plausible trade target.
There's only a week to go.
I would.
And I think there are instances where that does make sense.
And I also think, like, you got to play the numbers a bit.
Like has Nazim Khadry been incredibly durable in his career?
Yes.
Has Razum Sanderson?
Yes.
Was Kristaanov?
No.
And that's the guy that they moved earlier on.
I think the risk was a little higher.
But to your point, all it takes is one shift, then a durable guy can get hurt.
It happens.
Early February, I get it.
But can't sit you for like they were doing it for a month.
They're not doing it what they did with Panarin.
Right.
Yeah.
Right.
Like that's too much.
But in this circumstance, they're on the road.
I wouldn't play him on the road.
I would maybe give him,
if I know a trade's coming,
I might give him a
hometown sendoff type of deal.
But I, no,
I,
sorry.
Coleman, you were just out.
He's back.
Why do I have to rush you back
for these four games?
I think, yeah.
And, and,
and it helps you lose.
That's a big.
It's more chance to put less points in the bank.
So I'm cool with that.
If you remove Nazim Kodry's performance last night,
maybe they only get one or zero points.
I mean, he was very impactful.
So that's a great point I hadn't thought of, like,
I don't worry about him getting hurt.
I do worry about him,
assuming, like, accumulating points for the club.
White Cloud made great plays.
Weager made great plays.
Goldman's always good.
And Cadry had a great game.
And you'd know it four games between now and the deadline.
Yeah, you've got the two more in California, L.A. and Anaheim,
and then you come home for Dallas and Ottawa before the Friday deadline.
was the Thursday night.
Can't wait to go with noodles.
What are we cheese toasting?
We got to go out with Foot Daddy.
Oh, Foot Daddy too.
Busy week.
Busy week next week.
God, we're busy.
Foot Daddy's flying in?
I can't wait to go out with Foot Daddy.
Are we going to bring Jack or no?
Guy's awesome.
Jack, you got ready to continue.
Take him out.
Uh-huh.
We're tips of Alberta beef.
You mentioned White Cloud, led the D, albeit by one second.
Led the team in Ice Time, 24, 45.
I thought he was very good last night.
He gets one assist.
It's on the empty netter, but there were a couple of plays he made.
It was on the Zary goal and the one cadre goal.
It's kind of, I guess it's like anything that you have.
I have this thing and it's quite good.
And it's, I got a really good deal on it or it's good value.
It's so I could sell it and make profit.
Turn it around.
It's to make money.
But at the same time, it's kind of nice to have.
Like Jack with all that Bitcoin to have something that's, that's very good value.
Hmm.
I have to do.
So ask AI?
Should we ask?
No, I don't trust.
AI that.
Should the flames trade?
White Club.
What's the Zach?
Exactly.
I think he's a great fit for the.
And he's a,
I like his Canadian kid.
He loves it here.
He's a great fit.
He's already showing up at a lot of their in the community stuff.
Oh,
he's a small town Canadian kid?
100%.
Yeah.
And so the conundrum you're in is like,
we might have found like 80 cents on the dollar,
Rasmus Anderson at 275.
for two more years as part of a return that also has a first and a second and a kid for rasmus anderson
like i think i when we saw this trade we thought the gap from rasmus to white cloud's here and rassas is a
better player but it might be here not all the way it's odd i missed rasmus last night i actually was
sitting on the coach i did a lot last night sitting on a comment ah kind of miss
anderson out there liked him yeah it's kind of like but white cloud uh
He's very capable.
When can you sign him?
Well, he's got two years left.
That's so funny, you don't need to.
It's great.
Oh, but I want to lock him in for long term.
I'm like you.
It's Johnson.
I'm pumping Johnson right now.
Sign his ass up.
It's exciting sometimes.
Mix it up.
Pumps and Johnson.
If I could get him at 2.75, solid guy, good community guy.
It's the leadership.
These guys have talked about being important.
The more he looks like this, the more I start to think about,
maybe it is, if you're going to move a veteran D-Men on the right side of it's
Weger not him.
I don't understand why Weiger's not more appealing to people.
Or is he?
He's not had a good year.
He's got five points in the last four games.
Well, he's on a heater.
And again, he's a Nazim Kadri.
He's not a rookie you don't know about, right?
You know it's fair.
I think when we talked about, okay, you can't trade everyone.
We just assumed, okay, well, you're stuck with Huberto.
Backlund doesn't want to play anywhere else.
He's on a very team-friendly deal.
He looks good, too.
And you're like, well, and we girl will be the guy in the back end.
But now when you look at White Cloud, like, well, maybe he's the veteran that you keep around.
He's younger, cheaper.
Yeah.
And, and a good leader and plays the right way.
And, like, that's a guy, I think that young, he meant to look up to it.
Doesn't chirp me on social media.
And what if you get a team friendly deal?
I'll not say hometown discount discount, but what's it going to do?
It's already a team friendly deal.
You got them for this year plus 25 minutes a night at 275.
Thank you very much.
Yeah.
We go to the insider hotline.
It's a presentation of,
Crystal Waters, plumbing and heating, your crystal clear choice for all residential plumbing,
heating, and cooling services.
So make sure that your home is safe and ready for whatever comes its way, hot, cold,
whatever starts snowing sideways.
What's going on here?
Got to make sure.
Don't just be flipping on your AC or your furnace, hot water, all that.
Sleep and rest easy knowing that crystal water's plumbing and heating has taken good care of you.
Hey, guys, what's going on today?
Busy times.
We're away.
Flames got a win.
two goals for Nazim Kadry.
Back White Cloud plays 2445.
Looks a good.
Yeah.
Everything's coming up Conroy over here.
What does your buddy,
Commodore say? Pack your whatever.
Pack your shirts.
Pack your shirts.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, maybe that's what's going to transpire.
And I mean, it feels like we've been talking about this forever.
And we're going to have to talk about it,
probably for another four or five days.
because I still, you know, as much as, you know,
Cogri is an interesting piece and a piece that teams could see fitting into their,
to their need now, the remainder of his contract is what's holding this back, right?
And on top of that, you've got other pieces that are in play, like Venetrochec.
You know, he's a younger version, perhaps.
You know, what are the assets required for that?
And on top of all of that, I mean, there are players that.
that we don't even know are in play,
that maybe aren't in play as we're having this conversation.
Maybe that changes by Tuesday or Wednesday.
That's what I was curious about,
because coming out of the Olympic break,
some teams are going to go,
okay, well, we need, it's going to happen fast,
but we've got to make a decision.
Are we in this?
Are we getting out of this?
Or has anything happened?
I know the Leaf's lost.
Is there any other teams that over the last three days have decided,
oh, we're in or we're out?
Yeah.
No, not.
beyond those that we've already speculated on.
Like, I mean, St. Louis obviously is in more now than they've been in a long, long time.
I talked about this regionally last night.
I wasn't convinced that Robbie Thomas was going to get traded.
As of last night, I think that it's more likely he gets traded based on the interest in him, right?
Utah guys among the teams that are pretty eager for Robbie Thomas.
So that is just an acknowledgement of Doug Armstrong going, all right,
well, I know what I have to do now
and I want to clean up the mess that this is
before Alex Dean takes over.
Beyond that, I mean, again,
we've been circling the wagons in Nashville
for weeks, but
you know, Stephen Stamcoast
is having a renaissance run here
and has been for the last
several games. You know, Ryan O'Reilly
is a big part of that team. I mean,
do they blow things up
in Nashville for what they think
is the betterment of their future?
Well, they look pretty good right now.
And they're right on that cusp of a playoff spot.
As much as ownership buys into the need to tinker with the roster,
and of course you always have to project for next year,
the year after the year after that.
You know what matters?
Is the millions of dollars in playoff revenue.
That also matters to owners especially.
So, you know, if we're willing to take ROR and Stamcoast,
maybe Mars so, I think they'd like to trade him.
But he's been on the block all year, basically.
you know, if you take those pieces out of play, then it comes back to Calgary
because, you know, if Vinny Trochik gets the best offer,
and maybe that's to the Minnesota Wild, all right, Colorado,
the teams that are interested in Nas are going, okay, well, you know,
he's off the market, so we'd better pony up and pay what Conroy needs to make this deal happen.
Do you have a hand, like, it's a handicap?
Because everybody's got their trade boards and lists and, oh, it's the,
They've got Ryan O'Reilly at the top and Cadry third and Cadry's first.
Do you have kind of a handicap?
Everyone's kind of, I have to admit, I didn't realize how good a year Ryan O'Reilly was having.
He's got 21 goals.
Yeah. He's got the best cap hit and just one more season at that cap hit.
Just turned 35, so he's kind of in the middle of the pack.
I guess just likelihood, is that possible to even do a likelihood of which of those three or if all those three go?
No, I don't think all three go again.
I'd be really surprised if, if Nashville just cuts bait.
That doesn't make a whole lot.
Like, you can do that in the summer, can't you?
Well, it's what you're getting back.
Yeah.
Well, and there's two points out, fellas, right?
So Seattle's sinking like a stone.
I don't see Nashville selling if they're in a playoff spot.
Like, no way.
And keep in mind, fellas.
You know, Cadbury's different.
Like, he's not being a bad teammate because he's not that.
That's not in his character.
He's not trying to stick it to the Calgary Flames,
by no means.
He wants what's best for Calgary,
but he also looks his birth certificate
and recognizes, all right, well,
I got to try and chase the Stanley Cup here.
I'm running out of time.
So it's different.
If Nazim Kagri had one year remaining on his contract,
I think he'd be gone by now.
And I would put him higher on that list of those three guys
than where I'm positioning right now.
If we're assuming, and I think it's a large assumption,
again, that ROR is in the conversation,
then he's probably one or two.
Trocheck because he's younger, probably two,
and then Cadre for me would be number three.
But that can change pretty quickly.
You know, justifiably if Ryan O'Reilly,
who does not want to leave Nashville,
isn't in play and probably shouldn't be,
all right, well then your top two centers right now,
I think would be Trocheck and Cadrick.
How does Rob Thomas Fittendendellis?
It's obviously a different pile
because he's younger and there's a ton of term left
and the acquisition cost would be way different
than a guy in his 30s of the year or two left.
But what do you see happening here?
Because we've heard that Armstrong wants to do stuff, wants to do stuff.
No one's unmovable.
Oh, but the prices are really high and nothing's really happened.
Yeah.
Well, the price is going to remain high in Robert Thomas.
You know, because he's a decent young player.
He is, right?
And so when you, I mentioned Utah earlier,
there are several teams that are in that conversation.
but this would be Bill Armstrong trying to swing for the fence a little bit,
working with his old buddy Doug Armstrong to try and give Utah a boost
because I wouldn't call it desperate, but there is a strong appetite in Utah,
certainly with the owner to make the playoffs.
Let's make that splash.
Let's get going.
So I think that Bill Armstrong is highly motivated and has the assets.
and the pool of prospects and the package, I think he could put together,
that would make sense for the St. Louis Blues to consider trading Robert Thomas.
Beyond that, in St. Louis, I talked about this a bit on insider trading.
I mean, you're kind of looking at the usual suspects.
There's activity around Justin Falk.
Well, why?
He's a veteran defenseman.
He's a right shot, he met.
And if you're Detroit and you're sitting and you're twisting and you're waiting on Tyler
Myers to finally say, no, I'm not coming to Detroit.
All right, well, you've got to cut bait, and you've got a cut bait,
and you've got a shift.
And when you look at the right side,
you're looking at Justin Falk
and you're looking at risk of the line.
And really, you know,
I think that they would have interest in McKenzie Weger,
but my sources say that they don't get the feeling
that Calgary is keen on moving Weger.
They don't.
Well, that can change.
But, you know, there's a St. Louis spin on it.
And then you've got Braden Chen,
not a lot of activity around Jordan, Bennington.
There's several pieces in play out of St. Louis.
So can you get us the Cole's notes on what happened with that Tyler Myers situation?
Because we saw he was healthy ahead of their game against Winnipeg two nights ago.
And you're like, okay, trade's coming.
Except the trade hasn't come.
And there's no trade list involved.
Yeah.
So my understanding is that, you know, Detroit and Vancouver effectively made a deal.
But that deal was pending Tyler Myers accepting the trade and waving is no trade clause.
And maybe it's family reasons.
I can't think of anything else it would be
because when I watch the Detroit Red Wings,
I see a pretty good hockey club
and a team that could make some noise in the playoffs.
But I always side with a player when it comes to these things
because the player negotiates that trade protection in good faith, right?
And just because the trade deadlines looming
doesn't mean that you can be bullied into a decision
that isn't in the best interest of your family.
And that's always going to be a priority for all of us, right?
So it's pretty clear that Myers either doesn't see the fit or it's not the right opportunity.
So he says, okay, well, I'm going to need some time to digest.
He could still come back.
As of this morning, my Detroit sources are saying they're still waiting.
They're still waiting.
So at some point today, maybe tomorrow, he could say, okay.
You know, there are other teams that are interested in Tyler Myers.
I think in Dallas, problem Dallas has and other cap teams have.
you know, Myers has one more year remaining, okay?
That's, if he was a rental player,
I think that the market would be even that much stronger for Tyler Myers.
But if you're Dallas, you know,
and you're rumored to be interested in everybody.
I mean, everybody wants to go to Dallas.
You know, apparently they're adding five players between now and next Friday.
You know, but they've got Jason Robertson,
who's up and needs a contract extension.
That is going to be a hefty ticket, deservedly so.
they've got Maverick Bork who they've got to deal with.
So, you know, it's not like Dallas is endless cap space,
even though they've got Tyler Segan's money probably to work with.
So I think J.P. Berry, who represents Tyler Myers,
is making sure his client recognizes what the limitations are in the field of teams
that are actually in play here in terms of a trade.
And, you know, I believe this is true.
I was told from a Vancouver source that a second round pick is what was the deal, a second for Tyler Myers.
And that sounds like decent value for a player of where he's at in this stage of his career.
Why two things.
What else is going out of east?
Because we talk about Nashville, Seattle, Utah and St. Louis, Calgary, Vancouver.
Florida is it a tough spot.
Yeah.
I was going to ask you about Caroline.
I mean, there are tops in the metro tied for tops in the east.
Yeah.
We were running down teams.
We were kind of looking at the Bet365.
I was like, who do you think?
Yeah.
Didn't really land on Carolina.
Between the owner's desire to win, but he's also seemingly very frugal.
Like, it's hard to figure out where the, a year ago they make a blockbuster trade.
It didn't work out.
Has that taken away some of the appetite to go big game hunting or where's?
Because at some point, the hurricanes, they seem like they're that close.
got a break through.
Yeah, I agree.
They've got to break through.
And I applaud Tom Dunn.
And now Eric Tulski is the general manager because you're right, they're always in it.
And is it a team or a destination of choice?
Yeah, I think that's fair on both fronts.
I mean, you look at the former players who played for the hurricanes who still live in that area, right?
I mean, it's a nice spot.
And you've got an opportunity to contend for a Stanley Cup, but they haven't quite gotten there yet.
So to answer your question, yeah, I think that they're still swirling around some
pivotal pieces here.
I think Carolina is one of the teams that re-engage with Vancouver on Elias Pedersen.
I think that that would be a complicated deal.
Like obviously Vancouver would have to retain.
There'd probably have to be a contractor to that would go from Carolina to the Vancouver Canucks.
But I think Rod Brindamore, as an example, would look at what Elias Pedersen is.
You know, if you're comfortable with Elias Patterson coming in and you're thinking he's a 70 point guy and not a hundred point guy,
well, then you're probably going to be okay with the game that he's going to play.
But I wouldn't say that they're tripping over themselves to get to Pedersen.
He's just a name player that, you know, I look at Blake Coleman in Calgary.
I'm sure Conroy's phone has been ringing off the hook over the last number of weeks because he's a utility guy that the best teams in the league could see.
fitting in with a winning pedigree.
So Carolina most definitely
is going to do something. They're
aiming high now and maybe they
settle back a little bit as we get closer
to next Friday.
And keep in mind, Rantanin said
thanks, but no thanks. And then when they tried
to spin Rantin and out, Marner said,
nah, no thanks.
So it's the big game hunting that
they've struggled with. Every year they're there.
They win the first round. They're at the top of their
division. They've got great structure and
system, but they're missing the superstar.
Is the goaltending good enough?
We talked to noodles on Wednesday, and he was saying, if there's a place,
this Bussy, it's been a good story,
and Anderson's good when he's healthy,
and Kachetkov is out basically for the season.
So are they goalie shopping, perhaps?
I haven't heard that, to be honest.
I wouldn't be surprised.
There wouldn't be many teams that couldn't perceive the idea of a goalie
upgraded some capacity.
But, you know, who are we talking about here?
You know, is, you know, I mentioned a couple of minutes ago that there hasn't been a whole lot of action around Jordan Bennington.
Well, if there is an act, I look at pre-Olympics, I think we could appreciate why there would be no action around Jordan Bennington.
I mean, the blues have been not very good.
And Bennington hasn't helped that cause.
But he goes through the Olympics in front of a star-studded cast and had to elevate the interest to some degree.
But as of yesterday, there wasn't a lot of interest.
So, you know, you can conjure up ideas on why teams should consider a goalie upgrade.
And Edmonton comes to mind.
But easier said than done because there isn't, at least to my knowledge,
there isn't a goalie out there that is going to change things around dramatically.
Well, I was going to ask you about that because I saw, I think it was yesterday,
you were on with the boys on overdrive.
And you were saying that maybe there's some scar tissue in between Edmonton and St. Louis
that would preclude them from doing a Bittington deal.
Is that fair?
that's fair it's accurate um you know you're probably you know if you asked either manager they
yeah dragger's making stuff out come on like who's getting new you know the oilers more or less
got caught with their pants down on that one i mean they could have signed those two guys they didn't
like the sticker price and they were looking at their salary cap moving forward and just couldn't
couldn't make sense of it you know with with broberg especially all right well they that just
they were vulnerable and Doug Armstrong and Peter Shirelli,
who is very active in that process,
who works for the St. Louis Blues,
said, okay, well, here are two guys that are underutilized
that we can get an affordable ticket,
so let's do that.
So, yeah, that's recent history.
And I don't think senior management and ownership
loved that it happened.
So I'm not saying that you can't make deals.
Every team in the league deals with one another
if the deal is right.
So I wouldn't slam the door entirely.
I just think that it gets more complicated with those two clubs.
Evander Kane and Dougie Hamilton.
What do you see?
And those are interesting spots, unique players, unique situations.
Yeah.
So I checked on Dougie Hamilton this morning.
And I'm told that there's nothing new.
And I asked, okay, well, is there a better chance now?
We're a week outside the deadline that he doesn't get moved.
And the response that I got from a impeccable source was,
well, you never say never,
which I understand is a cliche,
but there isn't an appetite yet to push him out, right?
So teams know,
yeah, Tom Fitzgerald has open a conversation
and listening to offers,
but there has been nothing yet that moves the needle.
You know, again, we're a week out.
Maybe things change.
A dozen different agents, especially, have told me that,
okay, we might see some stuff here.
We've seen a couple of transactions to this point.
but they felt like teams needed two, three games, maybe get to the weekend.
And then maybe there's more definition in the standings between the buyers and the sellers.
And maybe the sellers to that point go, okay, well, I've asked for an exorbitant return on player X and I haven't gotten it.
So I'm going to need to soften because I don't want to get to Thursday night or Friday morning
and then have to get into a chaotic situation.
And so maybe that starts to turn a little bit as early as Sunday or Monday.
Evander Cain has a market, as we've talked about.
Interesting.
It seems to be the same teams in on everybody, right?
So Dallas is rumored to be in on Evander Cain.
Colorado is interest in Evander Cain.
Apparently Tampa Bay and Carolina have interest in Evander Cain.
And the way it makes sense to me is, again, with an expiring contract,
we can see why team should have interest in Evander King.
You slot him in your bottom six.
The man can still skate.
He's aggressive.
You know, he can give you some secondary scoring, all of that.
You know, and again, in a short period of time.
I don't think Dallas is as high on Kane as what is being projected.
And I put myself in that category because I do think until recently the Dallas
stars felt like he could be a decent ad for him.
I feel like they've cooled off.
in the last couple of days.
But if you talk to those close to Kane,
they felt like he was going to be traded this week.
They did.
So week's not over.
Let's see what happens this weekend.
Does L.A. in a go-for-it kind of thing?
What's L.A. do?
It's two tough losses last two nights.
Well, that one last night was no good.
You know, and in fairness,
I think Jimmy Hiller was asked about job security.
Was he not post-game?
Well, they were champing Fire Hiller,
fire Hiller. Good way to get that question asked. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and you, you know, you have Pete DeBore now twisting out there.
Mm. You know, he no longer has the distraction of the prep with Team Canada and looking at the Olympics.
Sorry, he's, I wouldn't say he's eager to get back on a bench, you know, between now and the end of the season.
But he's eager to get back to a bench. And when I think of the L.A. Kings and the work that Kenny
Holland is going to do.
I can see DeBoer being a good fit there, but you know what pisses coaches off, including
coaches who are on the unemployment line, speculation around coaches getting fired.
Because they've all been in that situation.
And hey, if Ken Holland and the L.A. Kings feel like there's a better option to coach that
team and get them into the playoffs and then see how they can run in the postseason, then they've got to make that call.
They've got to decide that Jim Hiller is no longer the answer.
And then you pick up the phone and you go, Pete, hey, we'd like to bring you in
because we think that, you know, you're able to get us to the next level.
So, but back to the roster for L.A., yeah, I mean, I think they have to be open for business.
You'll losing Kevin Fiala was a kick to the gonads.
Who's kidding who?
You know, how do you replace him?
It's going to be difficult, but they have some space to work with because he's not coming back this season.
Yeah.
So, you know, Kenny Holland is going to do something.
It's not just going to be the splash of adding Artemian Panera.
But again, you know, who is that?
Again, Blake Coleman's name has been brought up to me.
There's a laundry list of forwards that Ken Holland is likely keeping an eye on.
And Evander Kane is one of those as well.
Do you see Rob Thomas as a fit there?
Because you got Coppatar moving off to the next phase of his life after the end of the year.
The center depth that used to be so good, but Dano gone and no Copatar leaving.
It ain't that anymore.
No. And, you know, I think Quentin Byfield's a hell of a hockey player.
I do. I think that they believe that, you know, given a patient approach to him,
that they'd be able to develop him into, you know, the next on Zikopatar.
And maybe one day, but I don't think that he's close to being that yet.
You know, I don't see it.
You know, maybe others do.
So, yeah, I can see Robbie Thomas being a fit there.
You know, again, it's based on the rate of return.
what's coming back.
And here's the other little,
juicy little tidbit for you fellas.
Okay.
This is an insider information.
I'm not suggesting that one club has talked to the other.
Are you watching what's going on in Toronto of late?
Like,
back to back.
The last 48 hours.
The Lunkers.
Like they got slapped around by Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
Last night's first period,
might have been the worst period.
I've seen the Leafs play this year.
they were stinky, just terrible.
You know, they bounced a little bit.
I don't know what Burubei must have lit them up in the intermission.
They showed a little bit more life in the second and more jam in the third.
But more and more in this market, we're playing the what if game.
All right.
So Brad Trilving is likely going to move some assets,
but he would have done that regardless of back-to-back losses in the way they lost.
He would have done that.
He's listening to whatever interest there is and not just his pending unrestricted
free agents, but players under contract as well.
So the what if game is, what if Toronto can't convince Austin Matthews that they're going
to turn this thing around in a real quick fashion.
They're going to be better next season than they were this year.
I mean, even though they lost Mitch Marner, do you, do we honestly think that they thought
that they were going to be where they're at today?
Now, the Eastern Conference in general has some influence on that, but still,
they didn't think they were taking a step back like this.
So what if Matthews, you know, goes to them, you know, he's got two years left and
says, you know, the way I'm feeling right now, I don't think I'm going to extend here.
Like it doesn't feel like we're on the way.
Then that's where if I'm Kenny Hall, Daniel, King's, I'm calling Tree at some point now
or in the offseason and saying, I mean, not saying it's going to happen, but if it were,
but like I'd like to be in on that.
A lot of teams are on that.
Well, yeah.
It's probably not going to happen, but he can't be happy either.
I mean, you know, you go from a star-studded team USA and winning gold medal to coming back to Toronto and looking to your left and looking to your right and going, oh boy, not in Kansas anymore.
Yeah.
And Damien's just ripping me.
I can't catch a break.
I can't catch a break in.
Dash 4 last night for Austin.
Oh, just, eh?
If you were keeping track.
That's the plane he came in on?
Yeah.
I guess just quickly, I know I think I asked you about it maybe last week or two weeks ago.
And I know that I just wonder about Jim Nill in some ways.
It's a great team.
Yeah.
They like Carolina, they have to get over the hump and you look at it.
It's going to be Minnesota quite likely in round one.
And they're right there neck and neck.
And it looks like they're going to.
Yeah.
That's not great.
And if you get out of that, well, Colorado's still hanging around or waiting.
Or if the wheels fall off completely for them, you've got them in round one.
I mean, you could, you could have a very good team.
a legit cup contender and go out and add and spend more and still lose all things being equal
in round number one.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The master right.
Dallas Colorado.
What a what a spot for Jim Nill.
Yeah.
And Jim Nill and his owner Tom Galardi play poker as well as any owner and general manager in the game,
full stop.
They just do.
So the messaging out of Dallas for me this morning was, you know what?
we're going to stick to our plan and just add rentals.
As I mentioned earlier, you got Jason Robertson who's up, right?
They've got to deal with Bork.
So, yeah, they've got cap issues moving forward.
They just don't have the money.
I think that they would be a team that would have interest in Nazim Cadbury,
if not for the contract.
Coleman, for sure, if not for the contract and all of that.
But, yeah, they say that they want to be good for a long time.
And to be good for a long time, you do have to protect.
your prospects.
And you do have to draft in the first round every once in a while.
You can't keep peddling those guys out.
But there isn't an owner in the league that isn't in it for one thing.
That's to win a Stanley Cup.
So, you know, my information is that Tyler Sagan isn't coming back this year.
You know, I think that there's still some uncertainty around that.
Like, what if he were to come back in the third round if they were to make it that far?
And now what do you do, right?
Because there's a cap.
moving forward in the playoffs.
So you've got to be mindful of that.
But those guys are great poker players.
I think if the right pieces are available to them,
and there's a hockey trade that makes sense
to better their chances of being a top Stanley Cup contender,
I think they find a way.
They've done that every year.
Do we got to let him go?
Because I've got to ask them about my Buffalo Sabres.
Oh, go ahead.
Yeah.
Are they in on anything?
The tuck situation going to dictate some of that?
Yeah, it's pretty quiet in Buffalo other than, and this, it's a little confounding.
And maybe it's just the more ballsy approach by clubs in general with their pending unrestricted free agents where they're like, okay, you know, if we use them as an own rental, then that's fine.
You know, we're not willing to pay better than 10.5 million bucks.
So, you know, the player either softens in his demands or we'll just, we'll use them through the playoffs and we'll take our chances.
that seems to be the approach that Buffalo wants to take.
The agent said status quo to me yesterday when I asked about tuck in negotiations,
but that doesn't mean that Yarmal-Kaik-Linan has to sit on his hands here.
They've got a good hockey club.
You know, they're a good team, as we know.
And I think they're trying to add depth.
I'm told they want to add a bottom six forward and they want to add a depth defenseman.
That's normally the standard sort of messaging and search for teams that also want to
to be mindful of chemistry and not disrupting what they've developed.
So I think that's where Buffalo is out at this point.
Is anyone's hair blown back when you hear north of 10 and a half for Alex
Tuck?
What would you guessed a year ago?
Eight?
Like it's big money.
I mean, I'm a Sabres fan, but I don't pay enough attention specifically.
Somebody, I was always chirping and saying, oh, he's not.
And then somebody showed me the stats on him.
Oh, yeah.
He's not impressed him, actually.
He's got some numbers.
He's got some numbers.
So for next week, obviously, we won't have you Friday.
Do you have availability earlier in the week?
Oh, I think so.
Slide you in somewhere.
Wow, you really put him on a spot.
He's on.
I don't want to tell you got to do it.
Cameras are rolling.
Slimy bass.
Maybe Wednesday, Wednesday might work.
Little midweek or is that Noodles Day?
That's No, but we can easily give him the boot.
You can move him to Tuesday or something like that.
He's going to be here Wednesday.
We're going to see him.
So he's buying us cheese toast.
You're going for steaks.
Oh.
Good for you, yes.
It's terrible.
Yeah, he had big hopes for Nashville last year.
Really saw the Predators has taken a step.
So, Rhett made a cheese toast and steak bet.
Oh.
Okay.
It's going to be good.
Yeah, the things that matter.
So are you excited for next Friday?
Is it a day that you've come to loathe?
Oh, there's going to be a lot of action.
There's no action.
No.
You know, once upon a time, I loathed it.
Just because, and I used to make this.
joke where it would take me
11 months to repair the damage
that I did in the month leading up to
the trade deadline because literally you're pestering
people endlessly, right?
Hockey sources, managers,
scouts, every member
of hockey operations just
just gets it. And likewise
the player agents. I used
to be because I used to travel more
and Rhett would appreciate this, although
Rhett and I never communicated via text.
I'm not going to throw him under the bus. Not one
time did we ever do that. But
I did use, I used to have a pretty good collection of player contacts.
We were awesome.
And you'd get that text from inside the dressing room, hey, so-and-so just got traded.
Yes.
But I'm old enough now where that doesn't happen anymore with me, but I used to.
That speaks to your character, Drake's guys trusted you and they liked you or they wouldn't have done it.
Yeah.
So I don't hate it.
I don't.
And I appreciate the.
amount of work that the people at TSN put into it, right?
Like, it's, it's evolved into a spectacle day.
And even though it has to be about the trades and the analysis and all that, I mean,
come on, we're having fun on the desk and we're mucking around and doing all of that kind of
stuff.
So it's, it's an event day.
And it means a lot to TSN, so it means a lot to me.
How many swaps of the flames?
We put the over under at one and a half.
I'd say over.
Yeah, I'd say over.
I'd say over.
Yeah.
Two and a half.
Two and a half.
Yeah.
Over under.
Over under two and a half?
Under?
That feels like the number for me.
I think the hall's moving.
I think the Pahler-Hanley should definitely move over.
Nice.
Thanks, Gregs.
Okay, guys, be well.
Thank you.
We'll talk next week.
We'll tell Backland to text you from the room.
Yeah.
Good luck with that.
Thanks, tricks.
There he is.

This thing in the garage is screwing up.
What else is going on over here?
Okay, I got the ass list.
Fellas, let me know when you're ready.
He said, we've got a date.
I'll be in touch immediately.
Yeah.
got it locked in it's a good feeling yeah i don't want to deal with this crap i don't know
anything about that stuff a lot of the things that they do i mean i like to putter around
i like tanker as much as the next guy don't be tankering with that stuff he fancied himself
a car tinker that didn't take a lot of hot water tank i'm just going to haul this silver
gun down stairs i think this will fit don't do that take part that engine put it back to get on dear
Don't do that.
Yeah, it's...
I had the crystal waters at the house yesterday.
The sauna is heating up.
It's so good.
It's a place on there.
Yeah.
You said it's a wet sauna with the red line.
Then I told you about the alarm on the freezer, right?
Yeah, what happened?
Not good.
Did you look into it?
Okay, I've got three other freezers for my...
For my...
What do they call it when?
Oh, the dude?
Doomsday.
Yeah, Dumesday.
Yeah,
Dumbstay.
Yeah,
Doomsday.
Luckily, I've got all those batteries and bottled water down.
It might be the compressor, Dean.
Might be the compressor.
Good to know.
Good to know.
I was hoping you just left the door open.
That's why I was beeping?
Because that's an easy fix.
Yeah.
Just close the door.
Is the door closed?
How many moves in general?
Like, we went through 80 names in, maybe not 80.
20.
How many big names are moving?
And I was thinking when he was talking about Austin Matthews,
Austin Matthews
to Dallas
Jason Robertson
I thought of that too
Back the other way
Plus plus plus
Baby I don't think
That's gonna happen with Austin
As weird as it sounds
I think he's still committed to Toronto
I think he's committed to
I think he's happy to go wherever
Especially those idiots out there
harassing him about politics
It's like I play hot
He's getting crushed right now
That is a part that comes to the market
It doesn't have to come with the market
No but it's Toronto it always has
I agree
Ryan this is this is why he wants out
I agree.
I agree totally.
I'm not fighting yet.
That is a very big detractor of the market of Toronto.
It really is.
I think it's more of million to Texas or somewhere.
Tax-free.
Eat more of it.
Not put up with all this shit.
No sense of winning.
Two beat reporters, not 18.
Like, yeah.
There's easier places to play hockey.
I continue to say it.
I think it's the hardest market to play.
But if you could ever do it there, there'd be a celebration like no other.
It's just they don't look fucking close to that.
It will happen someday.
Maybe.
Text tree.
I don't think there's a love of I think
Austin Matthews is comfortable there, likes it there
well enough, doesn't need to stay there.
And you probably throw out another 28 or 29
cities in the NHL. I'd be happy there too.
Oh yeah, Dallas is going to suck.
I would play the shits.
Well, and you start looking at rosters that are competitive
and it's, the leaves are way down the list
for the year ago.
That's a concern for him.
If winnings matters.
Yeah.
here's the other
he might be part of the issue
at times has been
could be I mean you look at their
playoff exits hasn't played
his best hockey in round one
Jackie let's
Can we take a look at the east
Jackie Bear
Because like you talk
How many players well
What's the
So I can give you my list of guys
I think you're going to get moved for sure
What's the
I wonder what it was
Panic level
What's the
We need to do something
Because you look in the east
And I think there's a lot of teams
Might be might be in a playoff spot
But good chance will be there.
We have a good push.
Maybe we get there.
Maybe we don't.
But the windows, whatever you want to call it, it's not closed.
We're just kind of getting there.
Detroit feels like one of those teams.
We don't need to panic right now.
Montreal, the Islanders, Buffalo.
I will say the one difference in Detroit, Montreal,
is it's been how many years since Detroit's been in?
And so it's like maybe there's that, okay, just if we could get in,
it has been so bloody long where Montreal broke that last year.
in COVID, they went to the final, all that.
I do think that there's a little more incentive to move
from Stevie Y. It's been a long time since he's come in
there and tried to do. As far as the arc of
the team, which is, you know, our young
guys, our impact guys, where are they at?
It doesn't feel like Stevie Y.
Like Tyler Myers trade, that feels
okay, I can see why you would. Yeah.
And there's term there. It's not like a,
it's for today, it's two years.
We talked about Carolina. It feels like they need
to break through. I don't think they're touching
goalies, and I'll tell you why. Their
philosophy organizationally has been to never
pay or value goalies the way other teams do.
And why are they,
the goalie always like, who that's putting up
good numbers? Because it's the system that
Rod has the plan. They don't need a star
goalie to win. It would be the case
they're trying to make, right? About that team
below. What I was going to say, right?
If you are Kyle Dubus,
what are you doing? I don't know. I don't know what their
salary cap situation is. I don't know what they're. Jackie,
what are you doing? It's a lots of cap.
Okay. I said yesterday, I think you wait and see how
the team responds to playing without Sid.
yesterday they dominated New Jersey.
New Jersey's packed.
I know they're packed in, but it was a...
Keith was never the right answer to bring in.
That was a stupid hire.
I shouldn't say that because it's rude.
And there's been my conflicting reports on Crosby.
Now they're saying it might be less than four weeks, so I don't...
This is a minimum, too, yeah.
Hyperbaric.
Dr. Rett's in the case.
It'll be three weeks.
Lots of things you can do there.
I'm adding.
I'm adding.
Imagine you add a center and say,
not only do we think Sid's coming back,
we're going to bring them back to a team that's better.
And we're not going to slide when we've got this opportunity in a soft division.
Nice.
They have plenty of picks.
Yes.
They have all of their firsts the next three years and they have two, like two seconds,
two thirds this year, two seconds, two thirds next year.
And just three three seconds, two.
They've got the most picks in the next three.
And they had what, two or three first rounders last year?
Three first rounders last year.
Like three first last year.
So if you moved your first this year, it's not like, oh boy, what's our prospect
pool doing?
Like Ben Kindle's already on the bloody team.
He's been great.
They had an unreal draft.
We've talked a long time.
What do you do when all these guys,
they're all going to go into mothballs at the same time?
You've done our okay job of at least trying to mitigate some long-term pain.
Nobody saw this coming.
This was the only team we thought would be vying for McKenna.
This playoff run is.
A hell of a run.
Buffalo, I get it's different circumstances.
Like more so than Detroit.
Yeah.
We need to break this drought.
can't hear about it anymore.
We need to make the playoffs.
We've sold and sold and sold for years.
That's all we've ever seemingly done.
We need to make it this year.
I can buy that,
even though it might not be the smartest.
I liked what Dreg said too,
because you mentioned this when you played in,
06 here.
That room has been through a lot of shit together,
and that room has now turned the corner together,
and that group has been unbelievable
the last two months.
I'd be worried about pulling anything out of there.
Like, sure you can add,
but what was the deal when you were in Boston?
Was it Ferrence and another?
And those are glue guys that have been through the battles with you guys
that you guys loved and they brought in guys that maybe on paper might have been better,
but he didn't want to be there.
I'd be real careful about that.
And I do think they'll do what Drags is saying with Keepin Tuck
because you don't want to miss to Retz, to Dino's point,
but also I don't think you can delete from the script and miss the plastic
because it's been so long.
Jackie Bear, what's the cutoff?
Like, do you have the other good?
Washington's making a little push fellas.
They get a huge game tonight.
That'll add pressure.
72 points for Buffalo.
Was it 71 for Boston?
That's crazy.
Columbus has only 57 games.
And Washington's played a bunch.
They're going to have to get hot,
but they looked really good out of the break in their first game.
Yeah.
It was Jersey again.
Yeah.
So what do we know?
But I think there's a push from Washington.
Pittsburgh has to think if we can just hold a playoff spot
till SIDS back, we're fine.
You've talked about Florida.
The laying down our weapons and just taking a year off doesn't feel like that.
It's not their ammo.
But it's the smarter idea.
It is.
Unless they get in.
But it's such a steep climb here.
I really know a lot of...
Drake's made a good point.
Money matters.
And if you're an owner, you get in, you make millions.
Great.
Yeah, they made a lot, though, the last three years, haven't they?
And it's going to be very easy for someone to say, well, if they get in, they're the defending
cup champ.
they've been there three years.
And my response is, that's the problem.
We've played too much hockey.
It's too much hockey.
As good as they are.
They're beat up.
They're tired.
Like,
how many guys they have with the Olympics?
Yes.
Like,
I agree with you.
And I also just keep thinking,
they've been out with their best player all year and he might be coming back.
Yeah,
like Barkoff has zero miles on.
I don't think you rush him either.
But when he's ready,
that's going to make your team a lot better.
It's not going to be instant.
for Barkoff to come back on a massive injury like that
and be exactly the same.
Sure, but if he's got a month of runway and you can get in.
You can't, you don't, he has to be
immediately impactful for you to get it.
Like they need to get a six, eight game winning.
Yeah, like they have to get on a bit of a heater to get in,
but if they get in and play Carolina or something in round one,
yeah.
It's not out of the realm.
It's not out of the realm until it happens and you go,
oh yeah, now I see what, oh, they're exhausted.
How about this?
How about this?
You want peak drama?
Like the script would be perfect.
They somehow sneak in with WildCart 2 and the half play Tampa.
The one team where even in the exhibition, they scrap.
They've had like 700 penalty minutes the last 10 games against the polls.
Hasn't Tampa kicked the shit out of the last couple days?
Well, this year and then the last three years, I believe Florida's ended in Tampa season.
Like that is the best rivalry.
If we somehow got that this year, hey, I'm all for that.
Oh, yeah.
For the spiciness of the Florida, Tampa.
a play out absolutely
I'm just saying this and I have no idea
who they've got up and coming
if anyone
Florida I don't know who they have
in their
as far as drafts
picks as you
I'm right all I'm saying is that
you've been to the final three years in a row
sometimes biting the bullet
is better now
if you just bite the bullet
if Barkoff comes back and you don't make any moves
is that biting the bullet
and you miss or am I talking about selling?
You don't really have much in the rental category.
Everyone's got locked in there.
It's up for Bob and they'll deal with Bob.
But like right now hurt.
Barkov, Kulikov, Gajovich, Seth Jones, and Bjorn fought,
who's more of a depth defense at this point.
But like Seth Jones is arguably their best defenseman when he's right.
Barcov's absolutely the captain leader,
1C, best shutdown centerman in the NHL,
and can score and Kulikov and Gadju gets
you're a lot of that sandpaper
DNA. It's Jones and Barkoff for sure. But the other guys
it's like they're not nothing either because that's part of their
MO those are shitty guys to play against.
They're pains in the ass. I'm just going
I'm just going back though. All my whole
approach to Florida is just odds.
Yeah. Statistically they're not going to get it back
into it. The hole's too deep. To the west.
Can we look at the west?
Um, yeah.
The wild beat
Colorado last night.
Handle it.
Good game.
Second game and two nights for the abs, I believe.
They had a couple of pucks go off, skates and in,
and then I think there was an empty netter to make it four to one.
Four or one, that.
Caps closing a bit, but the game's played, aren't you?
So Dallas, you're a very good team.
You have been, you are, you continue to be.
Dallas would be.
They've won seven in a row.
Drop to the first.
Could I remind you what was happening last year around this time with Dallas?
Winnipeg was running away with the Central.
They were on a collision course with Colorado and the two, three.
Rantin had just been moved to Carolina.
Like, I'm kind of with dregs.
These guys are going to make a big swing, and they'll tell you they're not, but they will.
They need a right shot D desperately.
There's no one that's good at hockey that's a right shot D there.
Hayskin and plays his offside.
Where's the cap website?
Like, I have no idea even where we used to have one.
Puckpity is very good.
You want Capspace for Dallas?
So the challenge is this year, because you,
you've guts against money.
So let me explain.
Next year is when you have to make,
you have to make a decision this summer on Jason Robertson.
Great, make it then.
If you win a cup.
You can't add in with term right now because that was,
I don't buy that bullshit.
Sorry,
I'm swearing.
But I don't buy it because teams,
oh, they can't,
they can't, they can't.
They do.
And then they deal with it in the summer.
But,
so here's an example.
Let's say they go get cadre and maybe the flames eat two.
So they've got three years of five million bucks.
Yeah.
now you're like, we do want to keep Jason Robertson when you address it in the summer.
And you're like, oh shit, we can't give him the 12 and a half that he's deserved.
And so that's what I'm saying.
They have to make it their mind of Robinson first before they go add the cadres of the world, right?
You can't just shove it to the summer.
So you think you can add players with the term and just say, oh, yeah, we'll address
Robertson in the summer.
I don't think it makes it easy, Ryan.
I'm saying yes, if they think that codry is the piece that gets them a Stanley Cup, you go get it.
Yeah.
If you have to take a first rounder with Matt Dushane.
Fuck, we traded.
No.
We traded Monaghan away.
Yeah.
Like it's not for a first.
It's not.
It's not.
Gave them a first.
I get it.
I'm just saying doubt doesn't make those types of,
those are,
we knew that was a mistake from the moment that deal was made, didn't me?
But if.
If you had to,
you can deal with it after you get eliminated or after you hoist the cup.
And you could always just trade Robertson.
Yes.
I'm glad the cap to make it work.
You're telling me that you can't,
that Jason Robertson's not.
No,
and again,
I think that's a really real option for them this summer.
They trade them.
I just think if you're planning the next three years out
and you're at this deadline,
you better know whether you really want to keep Robertson
or you can't afford Robertson because it's going to affect
what you're able to do here in the next two,
seven days.
As Drake said,
we're only getting rentals.
Because of the Robertson thing.
Yeah.
And so until they say,
you know what,
it's not a fit with him.
I don't think they're shopping in the three years
left on his contract. You're funny though, because you just said you think they're
going to go make a massive swing. So what splashes can be made then?
As a rental. Who's got a year left? I don't know. That's a good question. They just need
a, like, I like that roster so much and go look at the right side of the blue line. It's a disaster.
That's, and that's, I don't know how you do it without adding a right shot D. So that's the
splash they make. I know there's talk about them in the center. That's not a massive splash.
That's, well, I mean, they need a massive upgrade is what I'm saying.
Like I think you're you're making a call on who's the best right shot do you available?
Well, I mean, it's two things.
Whether they need to do they need recruits?
Yes.
Are they going to be able to do it before the deadline?
To your point, how can you make a big splash if you are handcuffed with your cap and your
Yeah.
If you're handcuffed and you can't make a splash and yeah, that's good to state the obvious that we want a right shot defenseman.
Who is it?
And I mean, I'm poking funny.
Because you said big splash, maybe they're just filling a hole.
It's a right shot defense, but that doesn't mean it's a big splash.
So they got a million and a half in cap deadline space, but they've got some bad money
they could send out the other way, I believe.
Their 2026 first rounder is gone.
Their 2028 first rounder is gone.
I think both Carolina for Randen.
So they have one first, 27.
They have their second and their third this year.
So they're not depleted, but if they trade a first rounder in 20,
That's no first rounder for three years.
That's no for three.
You can work down the road and get some of those back.
You go to the off season and trade Jason Robertson.
I guarantee you to get some of those back.
It's a fascinating one with him because he,
all he does is score like 40 goals every year.
And yet Bill Guerin was like,
nah,
don't think the feet are good enough.
I'm not taking you the Olympics.
I'm going to bring,
you know,
muckers and penalty killers ahead of you who is in the theoretical
Richard race every year.
Like there's enough.
warts that you wonder, like, why haven't they locked him in long term?
Yes, I do.
I really, really do.
And it's like one of those things where maybe it'll feel like Phil Kessel when he was in Toronto.
He went somewhere else.
And it's like, oh, yeah, he was really good.
We just.
Yeah, but it's, Dallas has been good and he has been good.
They're just in a spot where they, how do you keep everybody?
Yeah.
And again, the old Berkey, there's one cup.
It's great to think you need a right shot defense.
And what's the price you're going to pay for what you're going to get to,
and it don't mean shit.
Like to me, the move that would make sense is like,
if you're going to add anyone with a term, like,
think about what Zach White Cloud could do for the stars.
Like second pair, right side, super efficient cap,
like less than three for a guy that's a four or five.
and that might not feel like a huge splash,
but that would help them so much.
And so could you extract their 27 first?
I don't know, but you can see why.
First for White Cloud?
If you had that money.
Like you think about the Hagel deal and the Coleman deal,
like when teams that are tight on cap space,
find a guy with really, really, really great value,
they'll pay more for it.
And that's the thing for,
and maybe we're way over our skis here,
but for White Cloud, four or five,
he's the top four guy.
I was just going to say, are we in a honeymoon phase with White Cloud, though?
We haven't seen a lot, but I've liked a lot.
I, I, I, I, 100% agree.
I think he looks great, the person, but it's like, you're new to a team.
You do come in and play well.
The other thing is, like, some juice.
And you've just been off for two weeks.
What great luck.
And where was he slotted in Vegas?
Because there's going to be more opportunity here, right?
Like, he's going to, he didn't play 24 a night in Vegas.
I know that.
He played that last night.
I was thinking, I was pet my dog on the couch last night.
Oh, okay.
Not when you're washing up.
You're scrubbing down.
No.
This was before.
Man, I was busy.
Who did that guy go party with during the break?
White Cloud?
Vegas.
Boys?
Or?
Calgary boys?
Would that be some rat insight there if we could find out?
No, but that's a realistic.
We don't think about it.
It is a big deal.
But that would be because when did he get traded here?
A week or 10 days, two weeks before?
I guess he knew he wasn't going to the Olympics.
I guarantee him and the boys that Vegas had.
All right, what were we doing?
Right?
Yeah, just looking at his ice time, I mean, he's lowest in the 17s.
There was a 13 there.
But did top 20 minutes the odd night for Vegas.
Regardless, close to 24.
Like what we've seen.
He was traded, I believe, around January 19th.
That's right.
All that.
His first game was the 19th, so it was the 18th.
So it was time flies, guys.
So that was real fast.
And again, that's basically with the two weeks off.
It's basically a month of hockey you've seen.
I liked them a lot.
These are the random things.
Better than that old.
We go back to those West standings, Jack.
Sorry.
Kind of woke you up there.
Top of the end.
Yeah, just the playoff pictures that sits today.
Who might be looking?
The flames are going to see Anaheim this weekend.
They've been a thriller against,
in the other night. They won three in a row, 10 and two in their last 12.
Anaheim? Yep. You know what they are? Because they were really hot. Then they kind of, they were 08 and 1.
That's what it was, Dean. And then right after that went on this 10 and 2.
They are all gas, no breaks. This is a team that isn't quite great at defending more interested in it, but they've got a great goalie and they can score a ton.
Leo is back. Leo. You're missing 11. Cutters got 26. They are 17, 8, and 1 at home.
Points percentage, as we will bring to the former.
They are actually second, I believe, in the Pacific today.
They got three games in hand.
They're doing just fine in that Pacific division.
They could win the frickin Pacific.
I'm not sold on Vegas.
Vegas and Eminson to me, it's like, are you waiting?
Is this just dress rehearsals and you're waiting for the spring?
Are you just actually not that good?
No.
Well, there was a good last night.
The night before, when they blew leads of 2-0-4-2 and 5-4 to the Ducks
and then allowed the winner in the last 90 seconds.
The Oilers are fascinating to me because I really think it's more of a mental study than anything else.
Wake us up in the spring.
Well, can you stay awake long enough to get into the spring is might?
Show me the second half of the...
Like, if you had to push them to Seattle, because they've kind of sort of...
Well, I want to see the Oilers fall out of the playoffs.
Who's taking that spot?
That's the problem is that...
And lucky for Oilers honks, they play in the conference they play.
The division they play it.
Like if the Kings hadn't sold themselves,
the Oilers are in huge trouble right now.
The Kings, they
Dowdy left the game, Armilla left the game,
they've lost Fiala.
San Jose doesn't look like they're there,
but they've played the least amount of games in the league, 56.
Good catch.
Did not show well last night.
No, I shouldn't say it.
They looked like a beautiful team.
Wolf was very good.
And they look like one of those young teams.
Where are we going?
Look at all the points we've got.
I know.
Goodness gracious.
The Pender Report, it's not ideal.
Might as well go to that, D.
Got any reads?
I've done a lot of talking.
Where are we going?
Where do you go?
Where are we going?
What are you doing?
One week out.
We didn't ask Drake's,
but is Winnipeg an interesting,
or are they just going to ride it out?
Who do they have that you can move?
Like that, I think,
Logan Stanley.
name. And so what is?
Your War pair defense? It's not that sexy, right?
Well, I, the only reason
you'd move them is if you feel like you've got depth
in that area, right? Because he's not
a bad player. You like having a big, what would you have said
about Zach White Cloud when he came here?
That he's way better than Logan Stanley?
Uh, no.
I'm just like, I think there'd be, I'd say
probably slightly better than I wouldn't. They're about the same age.
Stanley's 27. He's a UFA,
1.25.
Yeah. Luke Shen.
That's cheap.
If you want to, he's 2.75, he's done at the end of the season.
I think sometimes with these huge towering third pair guys, we assume they're great defensively.
And sometimes they're not.
I don't assume anything.
I'm just curious if that he's undervalued or overvalued.
Like, you have to have guys to take his place.
I'll say this.
I don't, when I hear those rumors go, I don't get the sense.
It's like, well, why would Winnipeg do that?
Well, he's had his time to establish a new guy.
Yeah.
He's an NHLer.
Yeah, yeah.
He's a depth of defense.
Why are you guys hard on the tall guys?
You hate tall guys.
He's jealous?
You know, anytime someone looks down on me and starts talking,
I just think, what can I do to ruin this guy's life?
This tall bastard.
We'll get to the Pinder Report in a moment,
but it's time for our friends at the hearing loss.
A message from the-B-SA?
What?
From the hearing loss clinic.
Huh?
Hey, guys, it's Boomer.
I just wanted to do a little thing to remind you about.
the hearing loss clinic. Great sponsor on the show, but also have been in my ears now for
about three years. Went to the hearing loss clinic, got the hearing aids, and it's still kind
of amazing. Every time you put them in, what a difference it makes. You know it's coming and then
they turn on and it's like, wow, it's night and day. If you haven't already, book yourself in,
hearingloss.ca, five locations in Calgary, you'll thank me for it. One of the coolest parts
for me with my pair, obviously there's what it does for your hearing, and that is awesome,
But also with the Bluetooth capabilities, you connect to an app and you can control the different volume levels or environments that you're in.
So there's that.
But also, if you want to listen to music or watch something on YouTube or whatever, you don't need to take them out and then put other headphones in because they double as headphones, which is awesome.
And also discreet, you know, if you don't want people to know what you're listening to or if you just need to tune out for a little bit.
You've got five righties.
Do you really want to draft one?
Like, can you move a guy to the left side?
Shouldn't you be trying to move a righty?
Like, you want to play the kids?
Like, we don't need five rights.
How many NHL teams have five righties?
What do you mean five?
Like, move out of right.
Hello?
Yep.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, yeah.
So it's nice to have things in your life that, uh, improve it.
You know, serve multiple purposes.
That was, uh, cleansing music.
That was very relaxing.
It's nice you could do that.
Turn down.
I don't want to give you the impression that I do that.
I do that a lot.
I do. Too many right shot D, Dean.
That's what I hear.
Do you want to draft another one?
Because you'll so many rights.
I can't go anywhere.
Are they bumping into a right shot D?
Five locations, as you may have heard.
Hearing loss.com.
Is where you go to,
to bulb yourself in for a assessment.
It was because I set up,
I didn't really have to, you know, coach him or,
like, just start talking.
do one of those things where you just get really hung up on that just start
talking like the defense or something
that hamster gets rewheeling around in there
yeah and he's okay we're done now like i finish filming i'm like no but you're not
listening right here i had to say i put the camera in the bag weeagers are right yeah
followed him down the street well even yesterday it's text the uh who is the centerman oh wow
i just felt like such an idiot i'm like how could i be so wrong in this i'm like oh he used to be a little
I'm good with that.
It's so kinder.
Yeah.
If he's,
if there's even like just a,
just a grain of uncertainty in his head.
You'll see his face kind of twist.
You know what it is?
It's the.
And then,
and then go to the.
Get on the laptop.
What don't you get this?
2022.
It was like half an hour at the end of the show.
We've all left the studio.
Just got home.
Pinder has screen grabbed ice times from now face up.
Percent.
Percentage of.
Oh, he says he took some pace off.
He took, he took, he took, he took, that, that's okay.
It's okay.
I was definitely allowed to wrong.
I definitely thought he played more center than he does.
And I'm like, why would I feel that way?
And I say, oh, because he played a touch there.
Probably when Ericksonac was hurt for a long time.
It happens.
Yeah.
It does a lot, actually.
It can happen.
You do a show every day.
You're talking.
You know.
Harpens.
It's really kind of amazing.
We're right as often as we are, which is most,
it's stunning, yeah.
It is most of the time.
That's not what I'm told at home.
No, no, we mean on the show.
Oh.
At the home front, we can't do anything right.
Yeah.
Thank you.
It's very low.
Bad a guy,

No AI formulated articles on RET being overrated today.
What do you mean?
You know, Pike?
I feel bad for Pike because I sent him it. I'm like, isn't this hilarious?
He's like pretty cringe.
I'm like, oh.
Oh.
What?
I was like, I just laugh at all.
And then there's no response.
People need to laugh more.
He's a journalist.
He's very serious.
Takes those work very seriously.
as you should.
wound up about commie.
I was like,
tell me you laughed
and he said,
cringed,
he's not even in the
overrated convoy.
Thanks.
See?
That was the joke.
Come on.
That's comic crickets.
Pike,
we love you.
You're sorry if you're taking heat.
If I didn't have a goalie
on every team I played for,
I would,
I'm highly overrated.
Highly overrated.
As a broadcaster.
An average goaltender would have cost me
million.
Never mind two or three of them.
Who?
Multiple millions?
Wow.
That'd have been Europe.
There's Flash doing his thing talking about Dustin Wolf last night.
He was excellent nearby.
His hometown.
You want one?
All right.
All right.
Just stand off.
Gosh.
Oh.
Thank you.
That's the wolf, of course.
And yeah, Coleman, Cadry, Lomburg, all cracking the daily faceoff trade board.
Lomburg's an interesting one.
We haven't talked to him a lot.
He's a throw-in if somebody wants him.
Or it's a late, late pick, and maybe you bring him back in the sound.
He's two million.
So you'd have them.
Oh, no, you don't.
You don't use that slot.
Interesting last night, speaking of Longberg,
Kiefer Sherwood is a pain he has to play against.
He's like a hyper,
a turbo version of,
of Longberg.
Scoring a ton, but he hits the hell of that everything.
He's the first line version of Longbour.
They might flip him around if they're going to miss the playoffs.
They're going to mess the playoffs.
So you just added Kiefer could turn him around and what did they give up,
a second and another asset for him to Vancouver?
They're so,
and stacked and coming that they could just hang on to him for as long you know what I mean like if they like him and they think he's a fit long term they don't have to move they don't need more picks do they no sign hosa but five five shots played a bunch of the power plays a good player yeah but that's just it so do they sign you have good players it's just he's up and that's why Vancouver traded you know what the funny thing is we have all these conversations
And again, we've said this, but it kind of gets in the way of the conversation.
If you just say, well, it depends on what they're off.
We don't know what the returns on it.
The thing with Kiva Shoeba Sherewood is we just saw what the market valued him as a month ago.
Well, you're not going to trade them for less than that, are you around?
I would think not.
They might spin them here.
Yeah.
We've had no offers.
Okay.
We're not spending them, boys.
We traded for Kiva because we really like how he plays.
No Lomburg last night.
Yeah, they had Pospels on the left and Clapcon.
the right poppy band's got back so and beecher's back with the minus huberto obviously
we've talked a lot about well you know we love longbird but can longbird come out of the
lineup ever well there was a game where he came on him also poll out on the back end and cooley
in net the takeaways bobby germany had his is what the hell was going on if you didn't
see the game which was helpful for you today and if you're at pahall you have to be at like
craig please crack could be the so i can play Vegas please please
you had them already so you know you like them
right shot depth who needs it
anyway sorry
seven kind of stepped through bobby germany
wolf and coolly the only thing is getting in the way
of the flames tank these two goalies with potential
to steal a bunch of games cadry stock
is rising six points in his last three games remember he had the
rather pedestrian January and
the big game against the oilers
Toronto was here he scored against them before the
Olympic break now two last night
heating up
he's heating up
that's great and out of clopka one of the most dangerous players on the ice there is some curiosity
around what this eventually looks like or maybe it's just going to continue to be the
consistently inconsistent and i don't even know if he's inconsistent i think there's just
some clunkiness to how he goes about his business because he's so blood huge good or yeah like it
looks it's like how come you couldn't take that pass and handle that oh great is the
stick's that's fair away i i think i i think
I'm prepared to say that this is what Adam Klavka is.
And it's just fine.
I think there's maybe a little bit more there skills speed wise than I thought at the first.
But there is there's some limitations to it.
The one thing I think I do see is it's not so much dropping the gloves is he's a little,
you're seeing confidence in his dickish behavior.
He's starting to be more of a prick.
More of a possible.
And that comes with confidence that, well, I'm in the league.
I'm not going to get sent down.
Oh, geez, I'm intimidated.
I don't want to do it.
He'll go with that.
He was giving it to To Foley last night, like sticking him and yip.
But that kind of confidence, I think, is, is helping his game.
Big glute, another year at one in a quarter.
He's a big glute.
Two loose.
Cheap, too.
One of the few, and again, we talk about who do you, you may need to keep your head on a bit of a
swivel if he's out there.
Yeah, yeah, he might catch you.
He could move him, get lots back.
How much, right?
Who's going to play on this team next, next weekend?
Retreating everyone.
Oh, damn it.
Come on up, Hank Corton.
here on the top power play.
Schedule, here we are.
We're closing the road trip in California.
They started with a win last night in San Jose.
Five o'clock,
L.A. in the evening slot on Hockey Night in Canada.
Kings in a rough way.
We'll talk about a couple going into the break,
and they'll drop a couple coming out.
And then back to back, they play five on Saturday,
then six on Sunday.
The Hot Ducks, another young team,
the flames would love to look like in a couple of years.
to close out the home, the road trip.
And then it's a three-game homestand before a five-game road trip.
So they come out of the Olympic break with eight of 11 on the road,
one down, 10 to go.
Would you put a duck on a, could they be the smoking ducks?
Would you put a duck on a smoker?
I don't think so.
Roasted duck for sure.
Peaking duck.
It's good.
Peek in on them.
I don't know.
Back to you, Ryan.
Thanks, Dean.
Let's take a look at the bottom, 10 in the NHL.
Flames going the wrong way, guys.
Fellas.
Don't be finishing above a way.
Winnipeg.
Yes.
If Winnipeg steals our pick, you stupid Manitobans.
Oh, Dean.
Idiots.
Your brethren out there.
Talk to us.
Get out of here.
You're supposed to be good.
Come on.
First place.
You won the league in the regular season last year, Dee.
Jesus.
Stupid.
Morrissey's from Calgary.
Hella bucks in American, I think.
He's here.
Stee.
Prick.
Well, let's hope they party really hard in L.A.
and try hard, but lose one goal games.
Amen.
They got that big break between the two games.
That's true, the 28th to the first.
You said where, Rhett?
You got to be careful that time off.
I hope you got a Hawaii t-shirt for the beach.
You go down to the Laguna.
Okay.
Good.
Last night, got some results to tell you about friends.
Of note?
A lot of games.
Twelve of them, someone told me.
A couple poundings, few overtimes.
We'll get into some of the highlights right now.
We'll start with McDude.
who, well, was feeling better
after the out of Olympic loss
loss against the ducks.
He is now at 100 points already.
McDude?
No.
You went right to the last game.
You went to the last game
and the most hated team,
the most lopsided game.
So we have the notable things
and we're going to lead.
I don't want to hear about McDude
being great anymore.
Thank you very much.
Back to you, Rhett.
Holy.
You only know when you're done with this,
one and then we'll move. Bruins points in eight straight
5.0 and 3. Columbus
first loss at 7. Matthew
Schaefer, two goals, two and 55
second span. Wow.
You know what? That shifts too long, Dean.
45 seconds of shifts. Well, you spent
half of it celebrating. Arms up in the air.
Habs, points in six straight. Noah Dobbson
two goals against his former team.
Larkin, the OT winner.
John Gibson back in net.
26 saves. Ottawa's cooked, I think.
They might even got saves last night in law.
That's tough.
5-1-1 in their last seven, but for the wings of the dots.
For the senators.
Panthers, yeah, they thumped the leaves.
Marchand had two goals.
Leaves have dropped.
The leaves look like they've really
back-to-back.
Decided that it's too hard.
That is excellent.
Noel Crosby, but they've got Malkin.
They get three in the third, two assists from Malkin.
Loves play.
I wanted to hit the Malkin two points.
I forgot.
I forgot.
I said that.
We have to be careful of that Jersey team because they have backed it in as well.
Yeah, they really have.
Five straight, seven of eight.
They have not, they're 0 for 19 and the power play in their last six.
And I think if you went and watched them, you know, when we started the show,
we talked about how great the work ethic was for the Calgary Flames.
Opposite there?
I don't think you're getting that out of Shelton Keyes, New Jersey Devils.
For Malcolm, point number 1392 passing Brett Hall for 25th all time.
Gosh, that seems like a loss.
1392.
Wow.
And he misses time.
He's not the most durable dude.
Carolina, four in a row points in 11 straight, 9-1-2.
They beat the lightning who were red-hot.
I moves him in the top spot in the east because they were tied going in.
Headman played 1421.
There was some question that he's got in.
So he's not 100.
It was hurt.
Yeah.
So something's a good here.
It takes some time off, bud.
It's the harsh.
The radish.
I also like white-hot better than red.
Red Hot James of Tom Cockley.
Yeah. Was that Red Rider?
Yeah.
Matthew Mischoff, two goals, including the OT winner.
The Rangers, Roger.
26 home games, six victories.
That a boy, mandat-e.
They had one point there, which helps the flames.
Shasturkin back, Adam Fox, back.
He's back.
The Blues win, three goals and an assist for Dylan Holloway.
They did not mean to do that.
Four point night for Holloway.
Yeah.
Hofer, 23 saves.
Joel Hoffer.
The Preds get three in the third,
including the game winner from Ryan O'Reilly.
Stam cross again.
Back to this blues,
if Bingo doesn't want to be a real good player,
I love the way he said it was such a statement.
Couldn't you just have him as your backup?
Say, hey, bingo, we're not going to pay you a bunch of dough.
They are paying those.
But once your contracts up, we'll keep you around.
You can back up Joel Hofer.
I think Hawford just got a deal, too.
Paul forgot paid.
One left at 6 million for bingo.
For bingo, sorry.
One more year at six.
Did you see the dards shot last night?
Ping!
Oh, flexing the Sherwood.
Unbelievable.
The Wilde do beat the abs.
You see it there.
5-2.
Boldy, two goals, two assists from the wing, I believe.
Yeah, his winger.
Gustafson, 44 stops, Wild.
7-0-1 in their last eight.
Kidman came back.
I think we hit the 2.4 sharp parley.
but it wasn't enough.
Quinn Hughes has points in 11 straight games.
It's been very good for him there.
He's just like to play hockey.
Yeah.
He's very, very good.
He's off two assists.
Hardy Nache just had a pair of goals.
Now, Brent Burns, I saw this.
Burns eight.
Ties Jerome McGinler for 15th all time on the games played list.
Wow, Jerome's 15th all time.
1554.
He was playing all the time.
Just 82 or 80.
How many do you want to play?
I'll play him.
And he'd screwback of a long cuts, too.
And how we started, 8-1, the Oilers beat the Kings.
Yeah.
So thank you, Dino.
You're welcome.
Now, some notable milestones reached last night.
We'll dive a little deeper.
McDude, century, already.
That's 60 games, 100 points.
Before turning 30, that's 900-point seasons.
He's at 1182.
And that's six in a row.
Well, why didn't you have seven?
well because they had those stupid COVID short in years.
Otherwise you'd have, there it is.
So you're telling me you can't build a team around this guy.
Hey, management team at Edmonton.
With nine,
100 point seasons.
Well,
he must be asking for 20 million and you have,
no,
he's actually playing for way,
oh dear.
This whole thing is just,
Mario had 10,
Wayne had 15.
And look at the day of his name.
He was going to get it for sure.
Short and season.
He's probably got a few left too.
Yeah,
for sure.
Lots of time left this year too.
Yeah.
If you need them.
Let's keep moving.
Other notable performances, Matthew Schaefer,
you noted scored twice.
Let's take a look.
This is the second one.
He's so good, man.
Yeah, you can take him to Olympus if you want, guys.
It's going to circle the wagons.
No big deal.
Just going to cut this way now.
Look past.
Fire goal.
Second and less than a minute.
He had the puck on a stick the same amount of time
that I had it in a whole month.
I believe that.
You were efficient.
That's the whiteboard?
Yeah.
Chipped it there.
I was past that.
Chipped it here.
Poked it there.
Definitely wouldn't have it here.
Different options, I guess.
He's 18.
Is he still?
Yeah.
Goodness great.
He is so good.
Quite good.
Yeah, but what are these idiots of bunch of you all doing?
Nice coverage, fellows.
It is.
But if it's there.
It's loose.
Very loose.
Loosey.
Look at the eyes.
There's no one around.
Where his eyes are?
He's everywhere.
Josh, where are you going?
He doesn't look at the Puckawans.
That is so wild to me.
God, he's good.
Superstar.
Hey, Domson, they dumped your ass to go get him.
Do something.
Here's the Schaefer data.
He is now the highest scoring 18-year-old defenseman ever.
Ever.
18 for the 18-year-old.
On defense, nonetheless.
You can show this.
I don't need big dude.
I got more Schaefer for you, too.
Just check this out.
There's only one thing left to chase as an 18-year-old defenseman
that isn't his already for records.
Phil Housley's point total is the all-time record for 18-year-olds.
Shapes is going to have to crank it up a bit.
He's got another 15 points or so, but he's got a lot of runway left too.
Phil Housley was good today, too.
Yeah.
Crazy stuff.
Stammer, he's been red hot.
You might not notice, but.
White hot.
White hot.
Yellow hot, whatever they, uh, color of the jersey.
Blue.
Because white is actually hotter than red.
Blue hot, very hot as well.
Is it?
Stammer now passes Bobby Hall 19th all time.
Bobby scored some goals.
Now he left to the WHA and scored a bunch there too,
so he would have more,
but we,
611 retro.
That's great.
And if it feels like he's on a heater,
that's because he is on a heater that is 20 goals
in his last 29 games.
27 games?
Excuse me?
Do we?
No, we don't have to.
Whoa.
Good for you, Stephen.
So that is a 60 goal pace, friends.
It's all those fried bologna sandwiches from Roberts.
Yeah.
Cheap BBR.
When are we going back?
Jack, when are we going?
Jack, when are we going?
Hopefully soon.
Today?
Jack said that the other day.
Just be back by Monday.
Go.
You think his dad?
The foot daddy's coming up here to do an arranged marriage or something.
Oh, that would help him.
He needs that so bad.
He just yearns.
He wants to be married so bad.
Can do some interviewing?
Yeah.
Svetlana's flight arrives at...
How's your Russian, Jack?
I can figure it out.
Loves the universal language, Jack.
He can speak that.
Right, Rhett?
Jack's a lot.
Tonight's slate.
Let's go.
Less games.
Oh, it's the Ocposo Bowl.
You got Buffalo in Florida?
No, he's not playing.
Oh, okay.
Sorry, my bad.
Right.
Hey, Rhett.
Could you name someone that's played for the Sabres
and the Florida family?
Ryan Hart.
Montour.
How about Montador?
Monty.
Monty.
Vegas, Washington.
That's the Nate Schmidt Showdown.
Patcheretti would be another.
Chandler Stevenson.
Very good. Yes. Well done.
Thank you.
And Logan Thompson?
Yes.
All right.
Correct. Good work, everyone.
Minnesota, Utah.
More difficult.
Gross.
Arizona works.
Yeah, we'll allow Arizona.
Shouldn't be this hard.
That was.
Did Mike Smith ever play in Minnesota?
Yeah.
No.
In Santa.
Did Dubmick play in Phoenix?
Yes.
Good answer.
Devin Dubick.
Yep.
Two days in a row.
We got some duby references.
Yes.
And the Jets and DeHooks.
Ooh.
Who was that third line center guy?
I'm thinking of that.
The name that popped into my head was Cogliano, but I don't, he never
No, for Winnipeg.
He was a very ducksy duck, but I'm,
um, disco duck.
Dixie duck.
Scrooge McDuck.
No, didn't play for the Jets.
Atlantic count.
Well, I mean, yeah, if you wanted to go far than,
that far back.
But like the Jets 1.0 don't count because you've got your
Slanty, Tebradovadovsky.
That's part of their.
Tebradozky.
Kilger.
But that's Phoenix.
Yeah.
This is Atlanta.
It's how manywether.
It's Winniwitton.
We can do this guys. Come on. Pull up our socks here.
I'm trying to think of it. Did Andy McDonald ever play in one?
No.
Sutton.
Ken Sutton. Nope. David Carpa.
Just. These are awful dogs.
What is terrible game.
It's tough. It's fun until you stall.
But that's what makes the game great. But I get that it's not great entertainment.
I don't people are saying Timo and the
chat.
Timu was part of the
we're talking.
This is the Atlanta Frasher's
Winnipeg Jets.
Timu was the Winnipeg that
went to Arizona is now Utah.
Not the Winnipeg that is
this Winnipeg.
Boy, we're,
damn it.
This is,
um,
come on.
Listeners,
let's go.
Viewers.
But,
um,
you call yourself a Jets fan.
Brain is off.
I,
Manitoba.
Clean it up.
What do you help here?
Luke Shen.
Shen.
Shen and Doug?
I don't know.
I didn't think so.
Someone said Ladd?
Did Ladd play for the ducks?
Ladd was Chicago for sure.
Then he went to the island.
The islanders at the end.
He never played Nana on him.
Truba?
Truba.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Wow.
This guy with the Steelers.
Thank you.
That was dumb of us.
With the Steelers, Jack.
We were rolling too.
See, that's.
Put them up.
Give him some love.
So it makes Jack great.
Nine seconds there.
Got a boy.
And the goals fan retro.
A couple people got it.
7 to 2.
Truby do,
do.
Bingo.
Rubey,
rooby roo.
Bingo.
Bingo.
Sorry.
I just was,
Lad did not play for the ducks.
No.
Oh, he's double checking again.
No, we,
Carolina.
Questions you want them answered.
No.
We did play for the hit.
He just wanted somebody.
He played for the hitman,
as did Ryan Getslot.
Who was a duck?
Let us go to the combine.
Large, fast, strong men running in Indianapolis, setting times, doing things in the 40s, long jumps, how high can you jump?
Vincent Anthony. It's not about this guy.
So this is wall-to-wall coverage on NFL network.
There's a really big deal in the state.
So the NFL is the king.
There is just so much coverage of the combine.
And that's great if you're combine nerd.
Not great if you're a GM of a team when the camera pans to you at the wrong time.
So Daniel Jeremiah's top 50 prospects as Aaron Glenn looks on for the Jets.
Fernando Mendoza won.
Jeremiah Love will also see on Saturday here on NFL Network,
the running back from Notre Dame 2.
Long days.
Yeah, we didn't like it anyway.
So someone had noted that the worst,
there's many bad ways to wake up from sleeping,
but one of the worst has to be waking up to yourself sleeping on TV.
I would say this.
I would say this.
That's ignorant of the cameraman.
Camerman sees that guy.
Well, he looks pensive and then you start,
oh, no, those eyes are closed.
Let's watch it again.
Jack was great when I fell sleepy,
took my feet later.
And I went to Jugger?
Do you want to whiteboard this arrest?
Prospects is Aaron Glenn looks on.
He's wondering how you get the treasure out of the ocean.
The jolt is tough to.
The jolt is sensational because it's,
you're not playing it cool.
You're like, oh, fuck.
In fairness, it's not like he's at the Rippers.
That'd be tough.
You're watching guys run on the field.
Look at them go.
600's short.
And you're going to look at the stats anyway.
You know what else I find interesting about this combine?
Yeah, tell me.
Is they still screw it up to no end these GMs.
Tell me.
Well, quarterback, find one.
Oh, it's great to come by.
Pick them.
Terrible.
Quarterbacks hard.
How big were his hands?
What?
What's his arm length?
I did send this to Jets fans, and they all said the same thing.
This is why we can't have good players.
That's the only thing is.
Who's a Jets fan?
Bill Salt, my buddy Gio, who I curl with.
Those are the two to come to my mind.
Oh, God.
That it is the Jets fans in your life?
The Jets head coach.
Who's a Jets fan in your life?
He's a work here.
That's that?
He used to work here.
I think there is some.
I'm trying to the Jets fans.
They do exist.
I'm pretty good at remembering guys' teams.
I forgot a lot of dumb stuff,
but I can remember if we're pals,
I remember what team you love.
Because that's what we'll talk about, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
People love talking sports with you.
Like, Rhett's a big Patriots guy.
I know that because like,
Rhett and I are really good pals.
I can't wait to get Foxborough.
Good luck, Jets.
Finally.
Something called the Kessel Run.
Where do we have other things before the Kessel?
We do, but we can just get right there.
Let's just get the Kessel on.
So what's a Kessel run?
Well, somewhere in the States,
the fellow said, you know what?
We love Phil Kessel loves hot dogs.
We love hockey.
Phil Kessel loves hockey.
Let's check it out.
So as you can see, we've got a hot dog,
spinny, rotissory 7-Eleven thing in the timekeeper's booth.
And there's only two rules.
You got to eat the dog for every period.
And if you score, you're off the ice.
You've got to eat a dog before you can come back.
Phil Kessel lives in that town.
And he popped in.
Oh, he'd be a hero.
Move ever.
Hey, fellas, you don't mind if I have a dog?
throws the wheels on.
Those lights it up for six.
And you know what?
Maybe it's because I'm getting older.
Yes, I'm now.
you know, this whole thing.
Think of all the things as an adult that you could become known for.
Yeah.
Some kind of rap or some kind of, you know, the thing about that guy is,
Phil Kessel, what?
Guy liked hot dogs.
Possible Hall of Fame here, but.
The hot dogs in the Stanley Cup, that was the guy.
Yeah, he, oh, that's how much you like.
I saw him, he was at a hot dog stand eating a hot dog.
What a terrible, right?
Of all the things people could accuse you of being.
It's either amazing tomorrow.
Where did that start?
Toronto.
Come on.
And to his credit, has fun with it.
Lanes in it.
Gets the cup.
Yeah, I love it.
I'll put some hot dogs in it because you go,
of course, I love hot dogs.
Who doesn't love hot dogs?
Brought the cup back to Toronto and filled it with hot dogs.
If that's not the biggest bird thrown at a sports writer ever, I don't know what is.
I love hot dogs.
I would, again, controversial.
This might feel like shock jockery and hot take a tooth.
But I'll put it, I will take a hot,
dog over a hamburger.
If I'm at a cookout, if there's
a on the grill, oh, you want a burger or what?
I'll have the hot dog. All right now.
Wait a minute here.
Homemade burger?
Or are we talking packaged pre-frozen?
Homemade burger. I'm going to go with the burger.
But if you're like, like you've gotcha.
If you're just taking it out and burgers and dogs,
it's a kid's birthday or something.
I'll do a dog.
Yeah. I wouldn't be far off.
I probably 60, 40.
If it's a frozen puck, I'm kind of
in your way they're throwing pucks on the grill
but if it's like you've got some caramelized
onions and tomato what do you got there's a
you're doing some smokies it's not even like
the little water dogs
I guess we have the hot dog
Salon's hot dogs Buffalo you guys want to go
Buffalo yes for the playoffs
wings hot dogs yep
Jack would love to take you but you're a Steelers fan
you'll get beat up okay
it's true Jody wanted to go
as you're willing to dress
appropriately you would take you to that
Penguins Sabers playoffs here
You know what?
Jack's still on probation.
When you see a little better behavior
before we should fight as helpful.
I don't believe in that.
I think you've got to get back in it, right?
It's like playing a bad game.
It's like playing a bad game.
We don't want to week off to think about it.
Get right back in there.
Go.
Did Jari play yesterday?
Or was it Ingram?
Ingram.
Jari should never play again.
What a trade.
Dubus just host them.
You know, we got to stop with the hot takes.
Jari should never play again.
No.
It was the ease at which you just put that out.
You should just never play again.
Like this on the road trip, no, ever again.
Just quit the sport.
Get some pads and buy some lines.
Just trying to help all the boilers people.
I need to cut that.
You're okay with that?
No.
What do you mean?
No, it's funny.
It's clearly comedy.
Let's go.
That's been a report on this Friday.
February 27.
Village Honda.
Prelude is back.
Reimagined.
Available at Village Honda.
Go to villagehonda.com for more
or head up to Northwest Automol,
your dealership for life.
I've been meeting to bring this up all show
at the start.
I think a little tense.
I kind of forgot about it.
Dregs came in.
We had some real good hockey talk there.
Oh, God, it was good.
You said yesterday
and I tested the theory.
I think I tested the theory.
last night and I may
you said you can't have too much
butter on your popcorn
oh you went for it
you went for it it's possible
I overdid the butter loss
so here's the catch it's just like the trade
the the cadre Conroy trade
where Pinders like well you can't make a bad trade
well of course there's too much
but if you're in
but it's there's a 2% chance
you're having too much yeah it's a very low
percent.
Like if it's soup of butter and you put one popcorn thing and they're just being a moron.
You're acting like it's a crouton in your soup.
What are you doing?
No, you went for it.
I'll walk you through it.
I wish you to take it in a picture.
Because so you get the pound, they get the.
Are you doing the small sticks?
Just the full or the full powder.
The one pounder.
So you over up and you got your butter knife and you cut your slant.
I'll cut it into fours.
Yep.
That's what I do too.
It melts better.
Into the measuring cup, microwave.
So it's like, thunk, dunk.
I remember, Reth said today, there's no such thing as too much butter.
Maybe I'll just.
Thunk, dunk, dunk, clunk.
Look at the cup.
It's a lot of butter in there.
But Rett said.
I really trust this red, eh?
Salt.
Oh, the big ball.
Everyone comes running when that sound comes out.
Yes.
A lot of butter left here, okay?
Keep, keep.
I still got butter still
geez how big is this measuring cup so finally all right
here we go I'm coming in late so I feel good I don't need to sit through
intermissions or anything I'm going to be able to skip through this thing I got my
corn happy and you kind of get into it
oh okay yes yeah that's pretty pretty good and then your hands tell the story
you can't like oh my gosh I can't you're kind of like walking around
Yeah.
Can you turn the tap on?
Just put some soap.
Give it the thing there.
Thank you.
Auto.
Maybe over did the butter.
So like each kernel had been bathed in it.
Oh yeah.
There was no dry piece of popcorn.
Yeah.
I'd still prefer that than dry.
I would too.
I would too.
You could kind of pick around.
Yeah.
This is how we have to, as a civilization exists,
you've got to go right to the end.
edge to know where we can't go across that line.
You now know at which point you stop adding butter.
And I was, there was just enough left in that pound.
I'll just put it all in there.
It's like, uh, do the, do the thing and just see how it kind of, like, it's not an exact
measurement, but you kind of, okay, if I go here, do into the cup, look at, all right,
that's about what.
So what, what do you think it was out of your pound of butter?
It was a third, a half, a quarter.
Got a quarter.
That's a quarter.
a pound.
I would say we were in that 8 to 10
tablespoon if when
because if you're doing it's like you need two
tablespoons so you kind of I know the
thickness and then you cut it into your four
so that cube probably melts it.
Oh, that's almost half. We'll fill a
tablespoon. It's almost half a
cup of it.
What percentage of your recommended
daily fat intake was it?
Don't less of that. BS
recommended daily fat. Did you see they
finally came up? I'm not talking.
Thank you.
I know this.
I had popcorn.
I laid there with the hound.
Give him some belly rubs.
Watch the flames.
They win four to one.
Great mood today.
It's Friday.
I don't regret a thing.
And you'll do it again.
I'll do it again.
Shoot you.
I might do it.
What do we do that again?
You pulled that chicken out earlier this week or last and it was great.
I was kind of open.
There was so much butter.
Oh, I see.
Yeah.
I do like the.
morning after popcorn as well.
Now the butter is really kind of soaked it.
But you know, you'll see those ones like,
is that a kernel of popcorn or what is it?
It's all just soaked all that butter up.
Looks like, is that a kernel of corn?
What would your co-liver think?
Not a chance.
The woman you live with?
She's leaving town for 10 days coming up here.
We're going to hit some corn.
Gonna cook bacon.
Do all the things you're not allowed to do.
She's when the warden's watching.
I love it.
It's got some bacon in the fridge.
And here's the thing.
You might love bacon.
You can't love bacon the way that we love bacon.
Because you have to starve yourself for fractions of years.
It's no good at taste when you haven't had it for three, four months.
Ah!
Our bacon tastes better than yours.
When I hear these things, it explains a lot, right?
Does it?
Or do you have more questions?
She's going away for 10 days.
We get to have popcorn and bacon.
Oh, we're living large.
So you can't.
If I is you, I would make two types of bacon.
To make traditional.
Yeah.
Wonderful.
Do anything with it.
Yeah.
And then I'd make the million dollar bacon where you put the brown sugar and the maple serve.
Million dollar bacon.
Candied bacon, man.
Let's take a look at our bets.
Let's do it.
Bet 365.
Game props, player props, totals, the money line.
They had the over under.
It was definitely the over.
The eight and a half tablespoons or whatever.
Oh, and the butter.
I thought you meant the oilers game.
Yeah, both overs hit.
Yeah, both overs on that.
Whatever your bet is.
it's never ordinary at bet three six five download the app get it in the game you must be 19 years
of age you got a play in hot hockey retro retro the panteros played last night they look good
but i'm with you like look you don't have everyone you're not healthy i know you're not tied team
but buffalo's feeling it right now and no one's feeling it more than our boy tage that hang
who loves to rifle the puck d loves it shoots it loves 165 sabers and tage three shots
And we're also going to jump on the wild money line, not the mild oney line, but the wild money line.
Oh, this is a bit risky.
They played last night against Colorado.
Utah did not, but wild or good.
Utah's better at home.
I like the number plus 115, but again, be warned.
Second and two nights.
Can you fly from Denver to Salt Lake?
I believe they were on a horseback.
Hike through the mountains.
There were horseback.
There was a big, tough, tough sledding for them.
There was a big.
warm out there, Dan, you don't want to know.
Yeah.
So, like, you can take this as a good idea,
or you can totally fade the S out of it.
It might work out great.
Whatever you want, it's all there, Bet365.
If you've been playing over or undersers,
the Oilers with 6-5s-11, 9 last,
yeah, pay attention to the Oilers and the overs if you're noticing that trend.
There you go.
Those are our bets that don't need to be yours.
Bet 365.
Download the app.
Get in in the game.
You must be 19 years of age or older.
We wrap, as always, with the super chat throughout the show.
If you have been in the chat with a.
cash donation of some sort.
We then show your comments
right here. Handsome Dan, $10
this season, every game
for every flame goal. That's 40.
Magic
for Handsome Dan. Hansom Dan, Vacation
Rivals Magic in the chat. Mentioned Tampa
is banning sweatpants and crocs.
What's your preferred
airplane attire? I'm a loose
t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers guy.
I'm happy to hear their banning.
I think that's because the dress code is
gone in the NHL. So, you
you wear whatever you want, and that's pushing it too far.
We used to have kind of a personal self-worth level where I didn't leave the house
and sweatpants.
Right.
Because they are for couches and.
Yes.
Sleepovers and moving.
And I am still of that ilk where I don't have preferred plain attire because I wear
the same clothes every day.
It's jeans, sneaks, and a t-shirt.
I'm with, and I'm losing, it's the same.
Sweatpants, they're not.
out lot because they're very comfortable. When you're at home,
lounge around. Sure.
Winters are cold.
Love being cozy. When we're leaving the house.
No sweatpants, no pajama pants,
and especially with these jogger things that you can wear
that kind of look like. You've already got the best about rentals. You're right there.
Put some joggers on. It's a step up from frigging sweatpants.
Yeah. You're fine. I wear this an airplane. Hell yeah.
Socks. I mean, that's what thing is. Are you going to
going on a plane where people can see your toenails.
Are you wearing a thong or a flip-twop or...
I do too.
You wearing a thong?
There's a lot of hand-foot-mouth disease out there.
I never wear a thong.
I go without free...
Thank you, Dan.
Hats of Dad, $40 for the kids.
Appreciate that.
Thank you, Dan.
R.B. Oh, in with a Uighur take.
That's great.
$13.99.
Trade weager.
Not White Cloud.
He was plus one last night.
Still the worst plus minus in the NHL minus 31,
but at 32.
too with term left, he's declining.
White Cloud is longer.
Younger, similar to Zad Dogg, higher hockey.
Of all the things, like for this season, we'll come to an end.
And I will be ready for it on a number of levels.
I'm hoping that R.B. and this Uigher stuff,
it's got the top of the list.
I assume it will end at some point.
Not until he's trying.
He's still here.
I can tell by R&B's determination and stick toitiveness,
this is a crusade that will never end.
It's $14.
That's a nice touch.
We love you.
Yeah.
Every day it's something.
Love you, R.B.
I don't even disagree with you.
White Cloud is not similar to Zadar.
I was going to, yeah, you're right.
I don't agree with you.
You both shoot right.
And your defenseman.
That's the end of the same.
They wear helmets on the ice with skates.
One's from Magnitogorsk.
One's from Brandon.
One's a tall robotic mutant.
Mm-hmm.
The other guy's Zach White Cloud.
Thank you for the donation, R.B.
Jeremy Barbagello.
Four a nine and nine.
Another empty net.
Fouts!
Can the flames trade one of their retained contracts if they bundled it with a third or second?
No, your retention, once you retain, you have to retain for the remainder of that contract.
No matter if that gets moved.
Again, your retention is on your books.
The moment you commit to doing it until that contract expires.
That's why I'm using that on.
Nazim Kodry.
Thank you, right?
It's a good question, though.
About Begelo.
Look at all this.
Wow.
Say when we talk sports and we get into it.
$20. 20 bucks for the kids.
Hey, boys, I'm a Dallas fan,
but I've been watching y'all's show for a while.
I really like listening to y'all.
My question for y'all,
what do you think a realistic trade would be
from Dallas for Coleman and White Cloud?
What would be?
They're 27 first,
and a prospect that Connie really likes,
and then maybe...
Who's that Maverick Bork?
Would they take him back?
I don't know that they'd want to give him up.
Well, you have to give up to get back.
That's why they're giving the first,
and then maybe take a process.
in this another third round or something.
Is that heavy enough?
Leon Bixel's name comes up a lot.
Yes, he's a big mutant defenseman.
Is he left shot?
He's 21.
He's one of those.
He shoots left.
I love it.
Swiss, I believe.
Huge.
Six seven?
He's a, he's a,
40?
Yes, he's a large.
240, Gordy?
How big is he?
On the scales,
standby.
Stand by.
Six seven, two, 38.
Oh, 21 years of age.
Get him.
Get him and ball on the left side.
Born in Olten, Switzerland.
his agent.
Margueretta van der Stroop.
Right.
Oh, the van der Stroop.
Strum.
Marguerta van der Strum Holdner.
Right.
So give her on the blower.
Robertson.
Robertson for Coleman and White Cloud.
I think they'll want him for a.
I know.
How I used to be with trades here.
I'm like, well, I don't want to give up anything.
It would be futures heavy and their most tantalizing.
Futures are their 2027 pick and I suppose
Maverick Bork if they don't see them already is.
Would you do it?
Hell yeah.
Done.
There you go.
Seth.
If they want to, yeah, if they're going to hand over their 2027 first.
That changes things.
I just kind of open the cover.
Just take whatever you need.
Yep.
Just let me know you're done.
Just close lock up.
So would you trade Coleman and White Club for their first?
Yeah.
Possibly.
Yeah.
I think Coleman alone would get a first.
So I need more.
Possibly, yes.
No, I'm saying you need more than the first, to be clear.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because I think Coleman alone right now, you can get a first.
You got him so enraged.
His headphones popped out of its jack.
Asked him a direct question.
And it was yes, no.
It was both.
Anyway.
Yeah.
First, prospect, another future.
But my question wasn't that.
I'm telling you, though.
It was a yes, no.
It was a would you trade both of them for just a first?
No.
I'm telling, again,
He's played one game.
He played last night.
He's still new here.
Good point.
I am going to need my socks to more or less be blown off.
Yes.
On a deal for,
for White Cloud.
Like if someone says,
I desperately need Zach White Cloud.
Because to your point,
he's happy to be here,
kind of from around here.
He's a prairie guy's from Matt's,
he's very familiar.
I think it's going to cost a ton.
You don't have to sound like forever.
You talk with that.
This guy,
but we're hypocritical.
Now,
I agree with you,
but we are hypocrites
because we've absolutely berated.
What do you call?
Yep.
Poho.
Oh, Pooho the Domo, yeah.
About culture and good gut.
Yeah, but he's not 38.
He's 28.
He's signed.
I think he can be very quickly part of your culture and part of what's going on.
I don't disagree, but I do think it's a bit hypocritical that we'll say,
Keep him and get rid of the rest.
A wise man in Rutwater once said,
pick one from each box and trade one.
Coleman and Goddrey in one box,
White Cloud and Uyger and the other.
And my preference would be
Goddry.
Go to this year.
Use your retention spot
because Coleman is the same value,
if not more.
Next.
Yep.
I don't worry about Coleman turning bad overnight.
What if someone says we don't need retention,
we just want, we'll take Coleman?
I mean, heck yeah.
The returns the right spot, yeah.
Then I can trade them both.
I just think.
But that, but I'm saying.
So the return is probably not going to be, if you wait a year,
eat money next year, you might get more.
Yeah.
I think that's part of the big matrix here for sure.
This is a lot.
I need to get cadre done.
That's if I'm making the triage.
Cadry has to be out before next Friday.
I agree.
Like you cannot get caught holding the bag on a 38 year old here.
It's kind of like the butter, Dean.
You don't want to push too far.
Too much cadre.
Too much butter.
It scores twice last night.
Boy,
it will be interesting to your point about when you start sitting them.
Four games.
But if you're in that neighborhood,
Drake said,
you know,
there's some offers that would make the flames.
If you feel like there's something there,
I'd be telling Nas,
you know what,
nice game last night,
two goals.
We're really talking and we're going too long in it,
but it's good conversation,
I guess.
There are teams that need to make a GD decision yesterday.
Yeah.
L.A. being one.
Who you alluded to might be like you can't waste two points.
No.
Is it not true?
Yeah, like it's the, hence the, I appreciate Conroy can be patient.
That's great.
But if I'm some of these teams going, I've got 25 games.
22 for some.
And it's going to be an absolute nail biter for me to get in,
waiting a week and losing, giving up two points.
Points is might be the.
Yeah.
And if that's going to change your opinion on what you are or who you are.
Boy, you're not that good.
Sorry, you a playoff team?
You know what?
Ask me on Thursday.
I guess.
That's not.
It's next six days from now.
I don't know.
We do that all super.
I know, but that's serious.
Because I'm with you.
You're right.
Pay the price.
Get the guy in.
Does he make us better?
Yes.
Good.
Because we're.
The best thing with the cavalry flames to happen is Vintrae Chetch gets moved sooner or not later.
Because that's the first domino that has to fall.
And then all the teams that didn't get
Vinny, they say, okay, Nashville, make up your bloody mind.
Are you moving O'Reilly or not?
And then, okay, Connie, we need to talk about Carter.
Further to you, I don't think they're moving O'Reilly.
I'm like so.
The two points out of the playoffs is there.
And they can't chase Seattle down?
And if I'm now, they're going for it.
I'm not telling anybody either.
No, of course not.
What am I going to help you out so you can get a player in to help you?
No.
Talk Thursday.
Talk to me on Thursday or even Friday.
I mean, you don't know what shitty team you've got.
I do.
So you do what you need.
I don't, I'm not too crazy on the rest of the guys because they've been very durable.
But if you're, let's say you've got heavy conversations going on once you get back from this road trip.
Like I don't need to see Nazam Khadry Thursday night the day before the deadline.
It's even the Tuesday, the home game, maybe you want to send them off and everyone knows it's done like you kind of did with Erasmus.
But get this done.
I got no time for that.
I got, you've played lots of games in Gallagery.
Everyone knows what you are.
They're very healthy.
Everyone knows they'll do a montage for you with whatever you need when you come back.
if I said it the other day, so many things need to line up.
You need the player, player needs to want to go.
You need to want them to go.
Teams need to want them.
If all of that salary, term, everything lines up, sit your ass down.
Because there's a deal that works and it might be the only one and we might not see it again until you're 40 years old.
It might be the only time in his life as a flame during this contract where he is movable.
Yeah, there would be a, there would be a percentage of odds that would say, if you don't move
him now, he's here.
He's riding it out.
Him and Hubie.
And the, I want to be traded.
Okay.
But the biggest piece you have mentioned, but I know you're alluding to is his performance
has been great.
Yeah.
Like he's playing well enough that he can eat a little.
Do it.
We didn't think that was possible when this was signed.
Because like how many guys look good when they're 35 in the NHL?
almost none.
I did.
Most guys are even in the league anymore.
He has done it.
He has held off father time long enough
for you to make this contract movable.
He wants to go chase another ring.
You want to get younger.
The other team wants a center.
It's a win, win, win.
Get her done.
I had a thought, but I'll save it for next week.
It's already.
Ruminate on it.
We'll be back next week.
Heavy rumination.
Are we doing shows next week?
Jack's going to Nashville.
How many shows are we doing next week?
That's next week a full week?
Yeah.
Oh my God, is it?
Is there a long weekend in March?
It'll be a spring break.
Family day?
That was 10 years.
Yeah.
Do you have family?
I don't do it.
Since remembrance day.
Quite a ways away.
Is that it, Jack?
St. Patrick's.
Oh, there's more.
Lots more.
Team Eats.
St. Patrick's Day.
I want a White Cloud Jersey.
But we all know.
Commonwealth Day.
Just love to finish.
We all know how the.
sharky jersey aged.
Oh, wait.
There's time for that sharky to.
Sharky's still here.
Get a White Cloud jersey.
I've always liked the number 28.
Marty Murray wore it and Brandon.
I'd say this to T. Meets.
Robin Regier.
Tea meets Friday at 2 p.m.
Make your call.
Because if he's here on Friday, he's here for a while.
That's my feeling of White Cloud.
I don't think they're trading them.
I don't think so either. But to
one week.
I think they're seeing.
what we're seeing.
That's a nice little throw-in-up.
I want to see some of that brisket.
That's what I want to see.
Yeah, since more meat, deemates, thank you.
Thanks, you're taking care of the kids.
What about us?
Yeah, yeah.
What about the cranky dads?
Jack, you see old,
white cloud shoes.
With the old grumpy guys.
I'll just sign a cheap bastard.
Uh, 279.
Jack, I've been, I've been out $2 a chapter.
How much do I owe?
Uh, this, this level, this patch, patches frog.
This guys give me my toes.
to every chapter of the book
because it's Jack's book club.
You can read this book.
Patch.
He's going to do $2.
I can die.
Per chapter.
Oh, don't let it die.
This is good.
We've done,
there was the trip to Banff.
We had a little bit of downtime there.
There's nobody any hockey on.
You've got a lot of hours in your room.
Let's get caught up.
Do we have the, do we have Jack's, uh, let's go to the book club.
Let's go to the book club.
It's important.
We're current here.
I was just saying.
All right.
Time for Jack's book club.
What's the name of the book you're reading, Jack?
Yeah, what's it called?
The title of the book?
Double cross, double cross.
The author is, oh, man.
Not important.
I'll move along.
Some Italian, no, he's very important.
Oh, okay.
It's like one of the main characters of the book.
Oh, so it's like a biography, auto biography.
True crime type of.
Yeah.
Interesting.
You know what?
Those are hard to put down once you get going on.
It's real page turn.
I've read it.
Yeah.
And so last we checked in, Jack had finished chapter,
one, reread it again, just to make sure he didn't miss anything, make sure the
comprehension rate was high. And that was about three weeks ago.
And maybe at the start of, at the start of a book, because if it's loose,
there's not really, there's not really, I may not get into it. I want to make sure
I've got the basis of this.
Are we headed here?
Which guys is this?
Chapter one twice.
A lot of time has passed to Ryan's point for three weeks.
Yeah.
Catch us up in Jack's three weeks already.
It's been a long time.
Go ahead, Jack.
Uh, patch.
You owe $0.0 because I've read zero.
chapters. So we're coming up on
months since he
got to book and we have one chapter
read. It's early December.
I had a tough stretch. I was
recovering nicotine addict. That's right.
Reading books.
That go hand in hand.
I feel like that might take your head
mind off. His head wasn't in the right
spot to be reading. So many letters
So you've.
So we're still one chapter in.
One chapter in.
How was that chapter?
Did you like to show?
It was a good chapter.
Now, is it so far in the rearview mirror?
You're going to have to read it again to refresh you.
He has the notes.
He has the notes he can read.
You have the notes.
That's a refreshing.
I need to start over.
It was like two months since I read the first chapter.
Jack,
you got a homework assignment.
Can you read a chapter for Monday, please?
Okay.
Read your notes.
There's like a movie that comes out.
But before I finish the day.
Brett's working on one with AI.
It might be done by Sundays.
Well, it's good to know.
Okay, well, again, Patch is Frog.
We appreciate you keeping Jack honest.
Arby.
Weiger and a draft pick for Lori.
I'd do it.
Well, a draft pick is like a lot of things.
It can be very, very insignificant.
It can also be incredibly valuable.
So are you saying the flames are going to move their own first?
God no.
But if it's a light pick, sure.
I mean, that's an important sort of thing to hammer down there.
Yeah, that's a differentiating factor for sure.
but in general I lefty.
Lowry's a big lug.
And he's a lefty.
Yes, they don't have lefties.
He throws lefting.
He hates lefties.
Mason Lurai is 25.
He's older, I thought.
He has one more year at 3.2
will then become an Arb case
with Arb rights.
Fine.
Kind of like Ball and they brought him over.
You know, we can do this forever.
I guess it would be, is Boston.
It was Boston C.
Lowry.
Well, they obviously would think that
boy, that flame's
pick could be really good. I don't know.
Like it's, I would want Lorai because he's a decade younger.
Well, that's the thing. And I feel like Boston would be the same way.
So as Boston saying, well, they wanted Anderson and the rumors were Lorai was it.
That's.
Yeah. And so maybe they're stacked up on the left and the righty. Okay.
That would explain it a bit. They were in the Anderson. If you're shopping for an
Anderson, maybe like a weir.
What number draft pick? What round would you say no was a flame?
I'm being, I'm being completely honest. I'm not sure. Who's giving the pick?
I don't know.
Well, he's saying we're a.
And the pick.
I know what he's saying, but if Boston is going to get Weiger, it's with the thoughts of winning now.
Would you do Weiger for Lurai and No?
I would.
That's interesting.
And I don't know why.
It sounds.
It's just because he's younger.
Yeah, like Wiger's a better player now, but what you're betting on is the youth and tools of Lurai.
He figures it out more than he has to this point.
That he's not a fully formed.
Wow.
And the funny thing is Arby.
I like Lurai when he first came up.
I was a kid's got something, but you don't hear his name much anymore.
And always remember, Dean.
Team that has him knows them best.
Why are they giving up on a 25-year?
Why is he in all these trade talks?
It's going on.
Maybe he's trying to kick those nicotine.
Well, we got a guy here.
It can help him out.
Big book reader.
Right here.
McAvoy, Hompus, and Zadora.
Zadora have all signed for considerable.
future.
Arby, what is the better destination
for a good return for Coleman?
Dallas or Carolina?
Is it better to retain on his contract?
One year left, it's in Godry.
I think, like we said,
Godry's the top priority to get it done.
So you're going to have to use a retention slot there.
And that means you won't have one to use on Coleman
until July 1.
But you can just take money back another way.
And I don't know who would give up more.
Everything always comes down to
what's your return.
We're a little hypocritical.
are, it's like, are the wheels going to fall off
Nossam-Cadry if you don't trade him this year?
He'll be here next year.
You'll have retention slots.
It'll be the same.
It's conceivable he comes out and has a good start to the-
Could you move him at the draft, sure.
Like something like that, I suppose.
But I feel like Coleman,
you have a better chance on getting a good return on Coleman today
or in a year from today.
I don't know why Coleman's contract is considered high.
It's not.
It's just that all your teams that are,
It's just go juice the deal even more.
I think the thing with Coleman, and you have to think you said this, you both say in it.
There's a deal that exists.
Well, we want this for Coleman.
And to make it work, we'll take this player that's making money to make it work.
You don't have to retain, yeah.
We don't have to retain.
There's no worry about, geez, and that last year, Blake Coleman's deal, what's he going to look?
It's next year.
He's going to be fine.
With cadre, there's a great question where you're like, I don't know what he's going to look like.
He's having a lot of kids.
Like his temperament might change.
That's way too many kids to have in the house.
I have as many as you can.
As many.
A full Sean Kempkeke.
Wives or what?
You can only have one mom, Dean.
Many wives as you want.
Wise man wants to talk to that.
Feels like he just made that.
Who said that?
Team mates.
I'm getting to text.
Buddy.
Okay.
What time?
Because it's getting late here.
Well, trade dead nine ribs.
That's very.
It is. Trade deadline ribs.
Let us know, team eats.
We won't say no.
We won't say no. And that's not just the team eats.
If you are out there and have tasty food, have any kind of food or product that you want to give us.
Just give it to us.
We're going to take it.
We're going to take it.
You guys used to get mad at me for begging for food breakfasts.
The begging was just a little much.
Starve.
Plus, we're so hateable.
Could be like shards of glass and stuff in it.
Good point.
Arsenic.
I once had some weirdos in Florida fans.
Give me a lasagna.
And I'm like, hmm.
I felt so bad one time at the dome.
It's when I was, you know, obviously still working there.
Do an afternoon shift there in the Austin Delounge?
Somebody had gone to the, like, I saw them.
There was a mom and a kid.
I brought a cake, a big birthday cake.
Happy birthday deon.
And it was, you could tell the kid to decorate.
Oh, yes.
Oh, okay. Yeah, well, sorry, like, can't see Dion right now, or he's not, whatever.
But we'll take, well, for sure, we'll take and we'll give it to us.
It'd be nice that the kid could have met him or whatever.
I'm leaving the rink the whole cake on eaten just sitting in the bottom of a garbage can.
Can't eat it.
You guys, did you throw it out?
Like, what are you thinking?
So did you pull a Costanza?
Shit, yeah.
It was on a piece of paper.
It didn't touch the cake.
It was perfectly fine.
All right.
Is that it, Jack?
Geez.
Take athon.
Take athon.
Oh, the tagathon.
It's a website that exists.
We don't know if it's real or how it works,
but they take all the math and the equations,
permutations, and put it in.
And what it's going to do is going to tell you the odds on who's going to win the draft
law.
Maybe the math so we don't have to do.
7.6%.
It was in the nines before.
Now they keep going up the standings,
which pushes them down this one.
So 7.6% chance of winning for the
Augrey, Flames Vancouver out in front there, looking good, looking good.
Let's roll it.
The bingo balls into the machine, bippity boppity boop.
Vancouver wins.
I recommend it.
Rangers pick second overall.
So nothing changed really.
Flames dropped down.
Oh, yeah.
No, we were.
Oh, you're right.
Simpsom.
Okay.
Go get a good defenseman.
There you go.
No, you can get a center.
Isn't there a center right then?
I'll probably get him a holter there if you want.
if he's still there.
I'll tell you what.
What if six becomes seven,
seven becomes eight and eight?
Don't do the six.
That's how I do it with my drinks.
Yeah,
I noticed that too.
That happened to me last night.
They happened quick.
I'm only,
hey,
I'm looking at five.
Five's a great number.
And it's fine for a while.
Then all of a sudden you're,
no,
that's three.
Three is good.
Yeah,
well,
four is not.
I can do four.
Four is okay.
Four is four.
Oh,
was that a double?
Oh,
so that's five.
That's six.
Six.
Six?
reminds me of a dinner I had.
It could happen fast.
Very proud of yourself.
It's not me,
proud.
Oh, espresso martinis.
We're out of crammed to men.
Well, let's make a double whiskeys.
Yay!
I don't know what happened.
We were looking for shopping for Fudge,
and then it was like, whoa.
Was it the double?
Was it the four doubles at dinner?
Tommy, do you have a taser?
We could get to Banff?
Those were, yeah, doubles.
Yeah.
And the thing about martinis is they're pretty much all booze.
Right.
Yeah, it was weird.
We sat down like, usually I have a meal.
Yeah.
Did you pour a 40 ounce bottle of tequila on your steak?
Bodies, we appreciate you.
Big week next week.
Oh, yeah.
Trakes will be moving around because we've got trade deadline on Friday.
So maybe Thursday, maybe Wednesday.
Noodles will be in.
Flames will have played a couple of times.
They got L.A.
L.A. is not in a great deadline.
spot, fellas.
04,
one of the last five.
They didn't bring Ken Holland in for
a long-term
plan.
Since December 10th,
they have nine
wins in 29 games.
The ducks on the flip side,
quite good right now.
They're good at home.
10 and 2 in their last 12.
Cutters got 26.
Beckett Seneca leads the rookies
and goals with 19.
10-2.
Pretty decent.
be an interesting weekend in California,
then they're home for the stars on Tuesday.
Sends Thursday trade deadline.
What a week.
That's good for seven days.
Sends one's weaker?
Sure.
Ottawa guy.
Yeah.
Tell you on Monday.
We appreciate you.
Appreciate all the sponsors for being a part of what we're doing.
Thank you guys.
Continue to support the show.
It keeps the show going.
And I guess if that's what you want,
then the show keeps going.
If you're watching the show,
you probably want it to keep going.
Good news for you.
I'm hoping to it in, so I'm going to eat.
Yeah, we can get out of this one.
So I'm sorry.
Everybody soon.
