was announced this morning. He passed away. everyone loved working with Cheech, great sense of humor, and numerous colleagues around the broadcast and hockey universe sharing their condolences and love for John Garrett. You know, in a way, you know how we always talk about how, you know, Buck Martinez sounds like baseball. To me, John Garrett sounds like hockey. From the time as long as I can remember, his playing days, I'm sure my life got overlapped with his playing days as a game. as a goaltender, but I just, he was a staple on hockey night with Canucks stuff. I've just, I've listened to him, talk hockey, be the analyst.

And I liked that over the last maybe five, 10 years, you could tell us like, I don't need to do it. I like doing. I love doing it. It's what I do. So there was a little bit more bite. There was a little bit, some things that maybe a color analyst wouldn't, wouldn't say, but he'd, he'd kind of dip a toe and be a little bit more biting or scathing.

And I did love it. The Commissioner Gary Betman releasing a statement this morning of the National Hockey League, stunned and saddened by the sudden passing at John Garrett, whose astute analysis took fans, particularly in Western Canada, inside our game for the last four decades. 13 season career is a goaltender in the WHA and NHL, moved to the broadcast booth in 1986 and never left, contributing his encyclopedic knowledge and expert insight to national broadcasts on Sportsnet,

local broadcasts for the Oilers Flames and for two decades, the Vancouver Canucks. And yeah, he was just... Can hear his voice. Yeah, you can't. Robert's in at four. Logan Stancoven scored in every game in a sweep. People forget they were having a tough time figuring out, A, what Marty Natchez was and how much to pay them. There was a little ranting in the middle. But if you look at Jack Drury and Marty Natchez, and you said, it's not going to work here in Carolina with Natchez, we could get Stankovin two firsts.

That's a hell of a deal. You just have to forget that Rantin was there in the middle. Yeah, he's a nice piece. It's been, it has very much worked out. You could argue for all three teams because NACIS has reached tights we never thought he could 100 points this year with Colorado

and Rantin and still Rantin in Dallas. It's a rare win-win-win-win. The verdict is in. McKinnon is the most likely winner, best player on the best team, leading the league and goals and on a historic Colorado squad.

So the players are different. It's making a serious push based on points per game. AI, not a player, just to confirm that. Yeah. Topic for a different day because we'll have time.

But watching Stankovin because here was Carolina. a back against the wall. You've got to trade this star player. He's not going to stink. Stank. Stank. Yeah.
