Starting point is 00:00:11 Oh, hey, fellas, how we doing? I shouldn't say, fellas, folks. Fellers. It's like you guys. That's an all, uh, because I know we're, uh, we have a, uh, a significant female, uh, audience. Oh, yes. Yeah. No, I know it's the buzz of, um, whoever females hang out.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Hen parties around the globe. Gather around their laptops and computers to take in Barnberger. Uh, Australia. It's called a hendoo. Is it? I believe our pal, Luke Elvie, drop that one on the old show. We're quite busy in the winters,
Starting point is 00:00:49 Hindo, stags. A hendoo? I don't know. Whatever, whatever works. Either way, I'm trying to, Dan says, he's here for Pinder's hair.
Starting point is 00:01:02 I don't show the hair very often. No, you've got an, it's an interesting chappot today. It's a classic. Now, some things are made retro, made to look old but really are new. I'm thinking that is not one of those. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:01:16 It's either a very cheaply remade Calgary 88 Olympics hat. Yeah. Or it is from 1988. I feel like it's legit. Like look at the sweat rings in there. Yeah, it's gross. Gross foam. For sure, gross.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Yeah, like someone else's cells are now on my forehead all day. That's the sign of true vintage. I don't think you can use that foam anymore. There's nothing on that. Is that asbestos? Is it biodegradable or good for the environment? Like zero. up there. Welcome to the program, the, the, the podcast, the blog, the whatever it is.
Starting point is 00:01:46 I'll call it. All right. It's a show. We're talking about this. It's a GD. show. Yeah. You spend more time worried about lighting and things like that. It's a show. What's a podcast? What's a podcast? No, Rhett today. He's golfing. Two special guests, though. Two. Because it takes the amount of work that Rhett puts into the show. Yeah. It's huge. No one man or one. No, gosh. Replicated or replace.
Starting point is 00:02:13 A small army would have a tough time putting in all the work. Because Rhett, he'll show up right before the show starts and then leave as soon as it's over. Yeah. So we take a lot of people to. Yeah. That's what you look for. Last to arrive first to leave. L.I.
Starting point is 00:02:28 Is not the-Fo. Last in first half. Something like that. Something like that. Go get it, kids. Pitter report coming up. We've got, we told you last week about what we're doing this weekend. We'll have details in that.
Starting point is 00:02:38 Yeah. Are you ready? You packed? No. Did you hear there's another strike coming in the airline world? What? My wife's not happy about this because, oh, yeah, what? It's trying to get back down under in a few weeks.
Starting point is 00:02:51 And the time frame for the flight to Australia is, hey, if you're booked, you can go ahead and get a refund right now if you like. Oh, my, really. And I, of course, is in Vegas for the mechanic one. Yeah, yeah. Smooth 11 hunt to get home one way. What is the? problem with it. There's a lot of striking. Why is, why were you? Well, I think, uh, the labor people
Starting point is 00:03:15 would say these companies are making lots of money share with us and the company people would say, hey, these jerks are asked for too much money. So who is it this time? It was mechanics. It was mechanics of the West Jet back in late June. Yeah. And then, uh, this time, it's pilots with their Canada. Oh, pilots. Potentially. And maybe it's the jerks that I don't know. I would assume that, uh, hey, if you were, if you were flying the same flights and the same planes in a different country and you're making way more money than them they should ask for more i'd also assume if you're running a company like these jerks you're asking for it's much money we can't give it to them i mean just probably somewhere in the middle well let's do that i mean pilots
Starting point is 00:03:49 come on guys come on guys is that what it is yeah okay can i can i pick the corporate mucky mucks then we're gonna be one it's see it's the corporate mucky mucks come on guys come on guys how many jacuzis do you need your freaking lear jets how many gold-plated bath tubs that's right does one yeah High forehead need. Let's go. Come on, guys. Your third vacation home can't have gold-plated toilet seats? What are we doing here?
Starting point is 00:04:19 I wouldn't have it. I would not spend my wealth that way. Just figure it out. That's all we're saying. Just please. Jack is very excited. We'll talk football, I'm sure, coming up. It felt weird not doing a show the Monday after week one.
Starting point is 00:04:31 I don't know. I'm not encouraging us to work more. You've been talking about this less is more thing for a decade, basically. Because his Steelers, while not looking impressive, did find a way to get a victory. It's kind of what they did all last season in a way. Tomlin.
Starting point is 00:04:47 It is Tomlin. I don't know that aside from Watt and Tomlin, it's like, you guys aren't very good. Yeah, we know. 500 or better every year? Every year. And what did we know about Antonio Brown
Starting point is 00:05:00 before he left Pittsburgh? Crazy? No. No. Great receiver. The moment he left Pittsburgh, then his feet were frozen. and you're like, this MFer is insane.
Starting point is 00:05:10 With the Raiders, he was freezing his feet. And then he's to Tampa and then he's in it. And you're like, how did Mike Tomlin keep this guy like on the rails? Yeah. The more I look at it, the more I'm like, Mike Tomlin's a savant. Because we were talking about it last week and we said, you were ready for Russ to cook and you were a little lukewarm on whether you were ready to let us cook.
Starting point is 00:05:28 You had to give us a let's ride, remember? I'm not ready for him to cook and he didn't even end up playing. Well, I have in my drive there. I have the one screen grab. And I don't know if you caught this. Russell Wilson was going to be the starter, but then is it a calf, a calf injury of some sort?
Starting point is 00:05:43 Some calves flying up these days. So he is listed inactive, so he cannot play. I'm not sure what their quarterback depth is beyond Russell Wilson. But he is on the sideline in full gear. Russell Wilson being in full pads in the sideline despite being listed as inactive
Starting point is 00:05:59 and literally not allowed to play is the most Russell Wilson thing. This is stretching on the plane to London. This is completely over the top and unnecessary. Now, he's got to, the gear on. Yes. Bonus points for the eye black.
Starting point is 00:06:12 I was just going to say. I mean, bonus points for the eye black. The lights, hey, when you're holding the clip. It is ridiculous. Like, because street closes the move here, Jack, isn't that right? Okay. So apparently he is the emergency quarterback.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Okay, so because emergency, if the second turner goes down, they're not having three quarterbacks on the roster anymore. But it is still hilarious and classic Russell Wilson. But he could have played potentially if both quarterbacks take it hurt. There no e-bug in the... That's basically what it is.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Just get some guy out of the stands to play quarterback. He was the e-bug. But I don't know how many e-bugs are wearing their gear with eye black on. Yeah, that's something else. It was, uh, I mean, we don't need to go too far. It's already Tuesday. It was kind of an underwhelming. I mean, we're so excited, it's week one.
Starting point is 00:07:00 But if that was week 12 or 13, we'd be like, it was a shit week. Quarterback, like, no quarterback numbers across the league. We were joking about it. There was kickers, like four or five of them would have been better than most of the top 10 quarterbacks drafted this week. And I look at, I'm a Chargers guy, Justin Herbert, phenomenal quarterback. One touchdown, less than 200 years passing. Yeah. Rock Purdy, zero touchdowns.
Starting point is 00:07:23 I mean, it's just game management. Yeah. Well, Caleb, I mean, rookie. No touchdown. Russell or, sorry. Fields. Arizona. Kyler.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Yeah, Kyle. Kyle Murray, 170, I think. Yeah. If you had Derek Carr is the guy that had the huge week. And I don't even know if he hit 200 yards. He had like four touchdowns. Yeah, I just mean fantasy-wise. It was like Josh Allen who ran a couple or ran one in, which helps.
Starting point is 00:07:49 But, you know, he's that offense. And Carr and Mayfield. What? Jaden Daniels is the rookie. But again, that's a lot of that via his feet. But I'm happy to have it back. Anthony Richardson had like nine completions and was the top five quarterback. That's how bad the week was.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Well, the one was, what, 90 yards? That's true. There's that. Two receptions were about 300 yards. Anyway, but congratulations, Jack, on your big win. Do you want to do it right now? Because we have it. I think we should do it.
Starting point is 00:08:17 A what? So we've efforted last year to get the Jack cam, which apparently was too controversial for the YouTube's. So this year we've put in place what I wanted to call the Jack chart. But I think we're going to call the Jackometer, if you're okay with that. So we know that being a Steelers fans of roller coaster, and Jack himself, I think, is emotionally unstable regarding his team.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Let's check in after week one. He was a five out of ten in preseason. And there's Jack after week one against a win over the Falcons, up to a six. Nice. Great start. Five to six. That's much more stable than we've seen. I sort of thought he might be an eight range, but they didn't score a touchdown.
Starting point is 00:08:58 No, it was everything that I expected. The offense was horrible. The defense is the best in the league. And their kickers really good. And look what awaits them in week. This is where it could go very sideways, where they play in Denver against Bo Nix. And if they were to lose this, this is where it goes straight to negative zero. Negative zero.
Starting point is 00:09:21 How is, how is Bo Nix going to fare against that defense? Because they always lose these games. I'll tell you what, Bo Nix had no problem throwing the ball. That was one of the afternoon games. So it less to kind of, you just saw more of that game if you were doing the red zone. They were very rarely completed. But he was not scared to throw it up.
Starting point is 00:09:44 It just felt like every other quarterback was that, I don't want to get picked. I don't want to do anything here. There was conservative game planning out there. Wasn't it? Even, yeah, like a lot of these teams, it was just like, you know, like, we'll just, if we need to, we'll throw.
Starting point is 00:09:56 Otherwise, we're happy to control the ball. I honestly look at that. I'm like, which of those teams are going to play in the next month are playoff teams? No, no. maybe, yes. No. Cowboys are best. No. Like that's an easy schedule.
Starting point is 00:10:10 First eight weeks, Jack. No, is it, what's the two playoff teams in there at best? Because you called it the jackometer. Yeah. And I'm just, is it a jackometer? I don't know what's the, what would you call it a speedometer? Spatometer. Yeah, I don't know. Or it's the either way.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Thermometer, thermometer. Is it a thermometer? Is it a thermometer? Hey, what's the tempo outside? Does anyone have a thermometer? I'm not sure. I'm not sure. Well, good, Pac-O-Meter. Congrats on the six.
Starting point is 00:10:37 Thank you. On the jackometer. Got some flame stuff for you. Okay. Even though now rookie camp is right around the corner. Yeah, I think the flames will probably be leaving Thursday for Penticton. They'll be doing.
Starting point is 00:10:51 They'll be a lot of bike riding and, and pull up, bar pulling up stuff. V-O-2. Yes, it would be a lot of that exciting stuff. One of our guests would be very familiar with this. It's not right. Shit.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Yeah. So that's coming up and then, yes, they are off to Penn Tickton on the weekend. More on that coming up. But a little bit of flame stuff for your opening statements, a presentation of a cloud law. Shane King, partner in the litigation and dispute resolution group specializing in areas like employee rights. Being laid off or terminated can be hard. Shane will review your situation. Make sure you've been treated fairly.
Starting point is 00:11:24 And as the law requires, using a practical approach in plain language, not legal jargon, just in general. Buying some, whatever it is. You need legal help, legal assistance. guidance, McLeod Law, Calgary, Calgary-Born, Calgary Bread, Calgary Roots, they're Calgaryans at heart. I just had a massive light bulb moment. Can we get Shane? Because he's what, dispute resolutions?
Starting point is 00:11:44 Yeah, yeah. We need him to sit down. I was going to say. With the pilots and the corporate mucky mucks. So we can avoid the strike and, oh, yeah, what? Can get Danunda. That's right. Yeah, that would be done already.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Shane wouldn't let to get to this point. McLeod-dashlaw.com is their website. So let's start. So I didn't do you. broke this news to him, a huge news this morning. That's not very nice to say. Poor Jared. Maybe he's news.
Starting point is 00:12:11 It's not nice to say. We're talking about the flames. Jared Tenorty, inked. Look at this. Left shot defenseman. I believe way back in the day of Habs first rounder. 2010, first rounder of the Habs. I saw him in the American League a little because I worked in that league in 1112.
Starting point is 00:12:28 Whatever. You're asking me. Yeah, no, either way. Yeah, interesting guy because he's huge and he's played many more games in the American League than he has the NHL. I view this as organizational depth. It can only be viewed that way.
Starting point is 00:12:44 He's on a two-way deal, so he'll make under 400 grand in the HL and around 800 in the big club. So, you know, by all means, he's earned a job, sure. Because he's 32. He's been playing hockey for a long time. Very little of that has been in the national hockey league. Correct. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:01 in the 200 game range. So I've been looking at the depth chart. I mean, if you, if you want to draw a mock chart, this is different depth chart. Got it. Depthometer. Right. We your Mirmanov basically played exclusively together since Miramano's arrival last year. Maybe you change that up.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Maybe you don't. Anderson, I think, will be put with ball. That'll be more your defensively geared pair. And then Bean and Pahal would be your clubhouse leaders. where does Tyson Barry fit into that. He's on a PTO. He does not have a contract. He can be signed by anyone.
Starting point is 00:13:35 He can be cut at any time. He's not a flame until he's signed. He's just hanging out, trying to impress. And then you've got Hanley, who you grabbed off waivers from Dallas last year, Tenority, Solov, those would be the bubbly guys. And I think, you know, you need more than six every year. But, you know, if Jared Tenority was a staple for the Rangors, I wouldn't surprise me.
Starting point is 00:13:58 If he ran any injuries on the left side, he could get some games in. I also think you have to probably be planning for in the next two years. How many of these guys are still here? Like Anderson's a big one that looms, not necessarily this year, but if the right team wants them for two playoff runs at a low number, cash that ticket.
Starting point is 00:14:15 It's a lot of D with Craig. Feels like a lot of since taking over, and maybe it's just kind of situational and circumstance. The trades for sure. But I think they're coming to camp with the same number of defense. I mean, it just feels like there's a lot of guys between that like, oh, he's probably a 6, 7, 8, 9.
Starting point is 00:14:31 Like, there's a lot of those guys. But yeah, you had Bristavich, you draft Perik, you bring in Grushnikov, Pahal, Miramanov, Hanley, those are all new since what, like last, yeah, since the Lendholm trade? So, to mention Bean and signing, ball and trade.
Starting point is 00:14:50 The answer was ball! So it's a lot of D. It's a lot of D. That's what we hear about. You're right, boom. Absolutely. I'm with you. Strengthening your case. That's right. 6.6.2.30 for if you're keeping track at home.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Still big. Yeah, still big. You can't teach that. No. Can't do it, Ryan. Didn't see that course in college. Can't teach it. Can't teach it.
Starting point is 00:15:11 That would put him up there. Who's bigger than him that they got back there? Ball's pretty big. He'd be similar to it. Was 225? Big balls? Ball. Ball.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Was the Dorov's gone, right? So there's some. Yeah. And ball's not mean, but he's big and he will be physical. Whereas, to Nor is got a little more mean in him. A little gristle. We'll show it in the Penderport, but not afraid of the old. Shoot me old dudes.
Starting point is 00:15:36 You see her? He's willing to shoot the old dukes. Tommy Winkles. Well, I don't mind if I do. You know, and it's not Flames news. But good news for Brock Bess. Remember in the playoffs, he had to leave. Blood clots.
Starting point is 00:15:49 And what? Had a game six? Yeah. Ah, fellas. That close, without Demco. And all these northern. You know how much we'd had to hear about it? Canucks couldn't seal that?
Starting point is 00:16:02 Yeah, that's right. Come on, guys. The news, though, for Brockbester is good. Cleared. You can now start with hockey activities. Also, I think it's the last year of his deal in these new contracts. So that's major news in Vancouver. You're going to start hearing more about that kind of stuff as we get to Penticton on the weekend.
Starting point is 00:16:17 There'll be all kinds of Canucks people already. Oh, good. Had some people reaching out to chat. Yeah, that's good. Can't wait for that. And that's about it. Obviously, we're very excited. like Max Patcheretti might be a Toronto Maple Leaf on a PTO.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Nick Robertson got signed, but it sounds like they might trade him. That's the latest from Frank this morning. Oh, really? He's an RFA and then what does he cost? Well, get him a deal. Okay, now you know what he costs. Now we can make a deal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:41 True living says, I want the other Robertson. Yeah. I think we all would agree with that. Now, there are two former Calgary Flames celebrating birthdays today. Really? One guy has a lot of points. one guy has a lot of PIMS. Who would you like to hear about first?
Starting point is 00:17:01 PIMS. PIMS it is. Happy 64th birthday to the one and only, Tim Hunter. God, is he tough? Tough. Oh, 15-1812 seasons, Calgary to connect Vancouver Shadows Day,
Starting point is 00:17:15 nine of them coming in Calgary a couple more parts of that year. He has the same-season penalty minute record, the career penalty minute record, single playoff, penalty minutes. It's not surprising. And as you watch these highlights, the grip strength that he has,
Starting point is 00:17:34 it's not just about chucking bombs. It's about having some D. It's about being able to play some defense. And you've got to hold these guys off sometimes. His grip strength, watch poor Robert Ray here. He is dying. Really? To get his, he just wants to start chucking, but he can't do it because Timmy's kind of kind of tied up here.
Starting point is 00:17:53 So if we had a gripometer, you think? on the on the on the grip of meter yeah yeah it's like nine oh geez wow nine out of ten on the on the grip a meter really good score yeah it's super duper um and of course he was part of the 89 Stanley cup team but he's a champ and he could throw both ways you can see there now oh you got the i'm then i'm gonna start going with the left so i'm gonna feed him in here if that's what you want this is who's who he's tilting oh dude it's you know what he's from rae to samencoe six two or whatever it's six two two 200 and whatever pounds, which that's not a small man. But he, like Dave Brown, six, five,
Starting point is 00:18:32 Semenko, six, five, six, six, four. He's giving up weight and reach and you name it. He ain't giving up. In just about every scrap. And he, I don't know, did he ever not fight? He's got the nose to suggest he kept fighting. And still, you'll see him doing some alumni stuff with the flames. We went to a game last year where,
Starting point is 00:18:54 He spoke head of the game to a group of people. Love it. Great stories. Phenomenal teammate. I know he tried his hand coaching for a while, but still a very active, positive guy in the community. I forget who I was talking to it was years ago.
Starting point is 00:19:06 The thing about Tim was he was in such good cardio shape, which is not to say he couldn't fight, but he would be the most dangerous once he'd get you out to deep water. Because not every tough guy would be that dedicated to fitness or that sort of a thing. And Tim would be able to hold, I'm going to hold you off, I'm going to hang in. And then, oh, you're tired, are you?
Starting point is 00:19:23 Well, now I'm going to start, I'm going to start chucking some bombs. You mentioned coaching five years as an assistant in Washington, five years as an assistant, Washington. Thank you. San Jose, assistant there. Ron Wilson, I think is kind of where he, you know. Called Ron. Five years there, three years in Toronto, back to Washington in 1213, and then six years
Starting point is 00:19:44 coaching the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League. So, Timmy Hunter, happy birthday. September 10th. He and a bunch of the other fellows. imagine it will be busy as it is the Flames Golf Tournament today. This is the unofficial beginning of fall. This is when you get shite weather, the day that they,
Starting point is 00:20:01 like it's a switch. Did you notice? It kind of is, yeah. And now we got rain for a week. Yeah. Cold. Cool. So thanks a lot, Flames. Thanks, Flames. Thanks, alumni. That's the Flames. That's the flames that take the day. Thanks, Flames. No, I said there were two.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Okay. Are you? I like points too. I'm so excited. Happy 58th birthday to Joe Nuh Oh, you guys have the same birthday? How about that? Wow. 58 years old Joe Newende, Calgary, Dallas, New Jersey, Toronto and Florida, 20 NHL seasons, 1257 games, 1126 points. How about this one?
Starting point is 00:20:42 Three cups, three teams in three different decades. Wow. 89 with the flames, 99 Dallas, 03, New Jersey. Now, would you say he's a rich man's, Mark, Mark, Jankowski. He's because I know he's an Elon Musk's
Starting point is 00:21:01 Mark Jankowski. Oh, so very, very very. Okay. Yeah. Supreme Well. Because I know I heard that Jankowski was like a poor man's. Yeah. Okay. First got called up in March of 87 against Washington scored in that game against Pete Peters.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Remember I was telling you Pete Peters has like a whole laundry list of giving up guys first like the Mario Mew's first Gretzky's. It was, yeah. It was like watching Don Cherry. Every goal scored for a couple of years. There was just Rogie Vashon. Somehow that guy got to the hall.
Starting point is 00:21:30 So we know that Joe Nguendike's a good player. This is not surprised. But even for me, it was kind of, oh, shit, that's right. So second round pick comes in. He had in it when he came in his Cornell or whatever it was, his season is over, comes in. Nine games, five goals and one assist. Not bad. The next year, 32 goals in his first 42 games.
Starting point is 00:21:55 ended up finishing too shy of Mike Bossy's rookie record of 53 winning the Calder Trophy. Wow. 51 as a rookie. Scored 51 again. Went to the Olympics twice, winning gold in 2002. He was, of course, on the Dallas team that won the Cup in 99. 11 of his goals, sorry, I think six of his 11 goals were game winners in the postseason,
Starting point is 00:22:18 earning him the con smith. Traded to New Jersey, did get hurt in the final, in the semi-finery. in the Eastern Conference final, but they did win the Stanley Cup there. So gold medals, a silver with the world junior team, a consmite, a Cups, what else, what else do you want? And the thing would be is you'd say, wow, the flames had them and they traded them away. They must have got hosed in that deal. What of those teams kind of worked out for both sides, Ryan? So what we call a win-win, Dean.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Corey Millen and Jerome McGinla traded to Calgary in exchange for Joe Nguendig. Why can't we all just get along? And you look back. It's a win-win. Because I was going, again, going through this morning. He wanted more money, you see. Yeah. But the flames, they had some rough going.
Starting point is 00:23:04 They had to trade Doug Gilmore. Gilmore wanted more money. Mackinness. Al McKinness, he wanted more money. Then this Joe Newendai, he also wanted more money. Right. They offered him, now allegedly, offered him to the tune of $2 million a year. Wow.
Starting point is 00:23:19 And he said, no. That's not enough. Okay. He gets traded to Dallas. Dallas signs him. five-year deal 2.26 per year. So you think about it. It's like, man,
Starting point is 00:23:29 over here, you know, could you have found some common ground? But then if you do that, you don't have Jerome. That is true. So, is there a way to keep both?
Starting point is 00:23:36 I don't know. Hell of a player. I'm going to say no. I think what's sort of lost in that, everyone remembers 89, but a lot of those best players were very young. It was Theo's rookie year. Newendike was young.
Starting point is 00:23:49 Roberts. Yeah, Roberts. And then Roberts is like retired with a back issue until he wasn't. And you're like, the core of that group in their prime was elsewhere.
Starting point is 00:23:59 It's too bad. Like you think of McKinness, Suter, Newendike, uh, Roberts, Gilmore, like that's just like,
Starting point is 00:24:04 ah, yeah. Uh. And then spent four years as the Dallas Stars general manager. Yeah. I kind of forgot about that era as well. Is he still in the org?
Starting point is 00:24:17 I think he is. I'm not sure. I will check. Because then he was scouting for somebody else. And he's 58. He can do whatever the hell he wants. And I know you were saying with those kinds of numbers, you'd think that'd be enough to. And in the hockey Hall of Fame, mind you.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Yeah. Well, it doesn't get better than that, does it? You'd think that would send your number to the rafters. Well, kind of. He's forever aflame. Whatever that means. He has a banner. But most recently even Jacob Markstrom was wearing his number.
Starting point is 00:24:49 That's wrong. And then there's a guy who's not forever flame nor retired. No one's worn his number since he was. So are they just not retiring numbers? No, they are. Are they? Are they? Yeah, but when was that?
Starting point is 00:25:01 Last year. Oh. And then Jerome, like, remember the Mike Smith can't fire behind the net? That game, like four or five years ago. So in very recent times. They're still retiring numbers, but then there's this thing that's not retiring your number, and they call that forever a flame. So what's the distinction, that?
Starting point is 00:25:14 But then they also have guys, they're not retiring that they aren't using their numbers, and they're not forever aflom. Do they need to call us in for this? We could fix this really quickly. I need a shovel. Yeah. I think the people that made those decisions aren't there anymore. Anyway.
Starting point is 00:25:28 So there you go. That's what a day. Joe Newendike, Tim Hunter, Jared Tenorty. Last staff employment. He was a Carolina Hurricanes pro scout and advisor from 15 to 18. So Joe,
Starting point is 00:25:44 I hope you're happy in what's a lovely retirement. I bet you he is. I've heard he's got a place out. Where's it? Al McKinness. I'm not going to put my phone. I don't do that. We got the Tinder report for that.
Starting point is 00:25:56 There you have it. That's kind of what's going on in the Flames Land, a presentation of McLeod Law, whether your challenge is business or personal. They're in it with you, professionals with a common goal helping clients meet their goals, macloud dash law.com.
Starting point is 00:26:12 Now, we have a special guest in studio, and I will kind of defer to you because this, and this goes back a few months and months ago. You know, there's a guy, he's doing something completely crazy. And I don't know why he would ever think of doing it, but it's for a great cause.
Starting point is 00:26:27 And because of that, maybe we'll get him on the show. It's like, well, to what degree is? Like, how silly? He's like, so, so stupid. It's idiotic. Yeah. Like, totally, totally stupid. Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:36 So we. And then there's the tie-in of like, he's got some, he's worked under the flames umbrella for a while. He's got some hockey tie-ins. And I grew up in high school playing NFL Blitz on a Nintendo 64 against him quite regularly. So an old pal. Well, maybe it's, we'll find out. how stupid it is. That's probably not the right way to see that up. It's a very, you know what?
Starting point is 00:26:55 You got to, it's commendable. You got to, you know, you want to move the needle. You got to do something hasn't been done. I guess so. Welcome to the program, Mike Norris, who, uh, let me look at you. Hey, look how happy. That's an insane human, folks. Right there. He's a crazy person right there. Norris, how are you, buddy? I'm good, man. Thanks for having you guys. Now, before we say what it is, have you done any kind of, uh, research? How many people or who have, who's done in the past what you're about to try and accomplish? Nope, never looked into it. I know there's a lot of people out there that are crazy runners like I am. Yeah. There's some crazy stuff out there for sure. But yeah, I just figured, you know, why not try and jump on the bandwagon? So there's like marathoners,
Starting point is 00:27:38 those people are insane. Yeah, yeah. There's like people to do Iron Man's, that's even more insane. And then there's like ultra marathoners where they just go run for like six days in the mountains and stuff. Sell their cars and I think he's bordering on that level of crazy. Yeah. Yeah. Forest Gump. So I guess before we get to that, maybe just walk us through your hockey background and then where you're at now in your career and how this all came to be. Sure. So I've been a firefighter now for 13 years with the Calgary Fire Department. Before that, I was a strength and conditioning coach. I worked a little bit with Rich Hesketh, who is the strength coach for the flames for 20 years. So worked under him for about eight or 10 years, had an opportunity to work with prospects, a little bit with the team, had an opportunity to go over to Russia, work as a strength coach there in the KHL for a little bit. So yeah, all the stories you hear about Russian hockey is very true.
Starting point is 00:28:27 And when that career was starting to wind down a little bit, I became a firefighter and loved it ever since. So you are, like you said, you are a runner. So this is, it's not completely out of the woods here for you to take on this type of a task. It's walk us through what you are about this journey. going to embark on. So, you know, being a firefighter, I love the job. I think if you talk to most firefighters, they'll tell you it's the best job in the world. We get to help people. It's a lot like being on a hockey team or part of an organization. You know, being in the hall, it's like the locker
Starting point is 00:29:05 rooms, a lot of camaraderie. So it's a great job. But there are a lot of challenges that come with that, both physical challenges and mental challenges. You know, we're exposed to a lot of things, you know, some of the contaminants that we're exposed to, they increase our risk of things like occupational cancers and certain diseases. But also some of the situations that we're placed in can put a big mental toll on our firefighters. So mental health is a big, big issue. And so the purpose of doing this run is to sort of highlight those issues, both to the public and to people on our job,
Starting point is 00:29:40 to let them know that it's okay that if you're struggling and we have these supports in place. so to make them aware of this. And I just figured that in order to do that, I needed to try and do something big and raise money for something called the Firefighter Assistance Charitable Society or Facts, which helps support our firefighters with these types of issues. You had some numbers.
Starting point is 00:30:02 I was stunned by it. You think of firefighters, like these are really fit, healthy people. Like you think about the testing just to become one, to be crazy. A lot of former athletes go into because they're in such great shape. You'd understand there's a lot of trauma. I get that mental side. I was blown away by the, I guess,
Starting point is 00:30:19 proclivity to incredibly high cancer rates amongst these incredibly healthy men and women. Yeah, I mean, a lot of the times when we're exposed to these things, fires, a lot of the products now, they just burn so hot and there's so many chemicals in there that when they're released, they get into the skin and they really increase those cancer risks. So, you know, the International Association of Firefighters, IAFF has been doing all these studies for years. and years to show, you know, the incidence of cancer rates and things like that are just so much higher for firefighters. So, yeah, that's definitely one of the challenges we face. Okay. So there's the charity FACS and you're raising funds for it. It's there to support
Starting point is 00:30:59 firefighters with the mental trauma that showing up as a first responder would not. And then, of course, also to raise awareness about the occupational hazards as well. What are you doing to raise funds here? So the idea came, it's been planning for about a year or so. runner and somebody who uses runner running to sort of de-stress for myself. I wanted to try and come up with something that would be able to raise money for facts as well as, you know, you know, kind of figure out a way to connect with all the firefighters on the job and just remind them that it's okay if you're struggling. It's okay to seek help and that we have these supports in place. So I came up with an idea that I wanted to run to every fire station in the city. I thought it was a
Starting point is 00:31:42 great plan and then went on Google Maps, did a little research, realized it's a total of 225 kilometers. Thought about it for a little bit and thought, well, can't do that today. So maybe if I split it up, I hope not. Maybe if I split it up over our four days off, we get kind of four days off between tours. Maybe I could accomplish that. So it's about 225 kilometers total, about 55 kilometers per day. Each day differs a little bit. But the plan. to sort of run to each hall, chat with the crew for about five minutes, give them a little information on some of the challenges we face, the supports we have,
Starting point is 00:32:21 and then how to access those supports. And, you know, hopefully just raise awareness and try and raise some money for this organization. 55 kilometers a day, four days in a row. Yeah, I would,
Starting point is 00:32:32 hearing that right? Like, I could drive that. I was good. Have you figured out, is there a way that you could start that all of them, you're going downhill? It's like,
Starting point is 00:32:40 okay, so if I start here, then at least, least I can work my way down because, you know, I'm guessing there's probably some climbs. I'd start in the north. There's going to be some climbs in there for sure. Yeah. Yeah. It's a cool idea because I forgot about that.
Starting point is 00:32:52 It's the 225. Okay, it's a round number. How did you get there? But to go from, from every fire station to fire station. And they'll be pumped to see you. That'll be a pretty cool moment when you show up there. Yeah, it's getting a little buzz, a little traction. So, yeah, I mean, I'm excited for it. I know it's not going to be easy. There's going to be lots of points where I'll probably be walking and, and just trying to get, just trying to get one step in front of the other, but, but I am excited for the challenge and,
Starting point is 00:33:20 and hoping to, to connect with all the firefighters, and that'll make it worth it. No, I know as a former runner myself. I, uh, I thought you're a surfer, you're a runner as well. Also. Yeah, also. Yeah, I, I did a marathon once, half. Um, and I know that, uh, when you're, when you're doing that, you kind of ramp up and you almost replicate that number and then you ease off so that you're ready for race day. Have you come close to 50 times four? Nope. Well, no, I think the last major training block I had, I had about four days in a row of 20 kilometers just to sort of see what
Starting point is 00:33:55 the volume was and how you feel the next day. It actually felt okay. So I've done a few bigger runs since then up into the 30s near the 40s. So I think we're getting close, but it's coming up on Thursday. So it's happening whether I'm ready or not. You know what? Thursday. Thursday. Yep. But if it's if it's not something that's as significant number and a feat, there's almost no point in doing it for it to be something that has to be crazy. It sets people back a little bit. What? What? Okay. Then that's how hopefully we do get some funds raised. You've got some auction items. I guess walk through ways that we're going to try and
Starting point is 00:34:35 get the money here. Sure. So we have sort of a QR code, I think, and the poster there just to kind of, if people want to look at it, scan the QR code. They're just able to donate straight to the cause, which is obviously super helpful. We thank everybody for their support there. And thanks to friends of mine and people I know through connections that have kind of stepped up and provided some auction items that we're happy to sort of put on here. And so, see if we can't raise some money and have people walk away with some pretty cool stuff. It's our go-to website for all auction and merch and stuff, nationgear.ca. And then you can see right there, Flames Nation Support Firefighters Mental Health Auctions.
Starting point is 00:35:19 A lot of words, you know, getting that some amazing items. Let's go through them in order. Item number one, a guy that I, you would have probably seen him almost like rookie season. Yeah. Yeah, we have the Michael Backland home jersey. So this one is signed on the back. It's one of those, you know, classic, classic Flames jerseys. And I wonder about speaking of Jersey retirement.
Starting point is 00:35:43 You never know. It could be a possibility. But yeah, he was really nice enough to step up and provide that for us. Travis Keneckney, hockey stick that signed. Interesting fact, his dad is actually also a firefighter. So he was happy to provide that for us. We received a signed Adam Klapka. That's a game worn Calgary Rangler's jersey.
Starting point is 00:36:05 Sweet. Assigned Adam Lowry game used hockey stick. We love him. Yeah. And then Brett Sutter, just a beauty. He's been with the organization since I started with the organization way back in the day. That's right. He would have a flame back then.
Starting point is 00:36:20 That's right. Yeah. Drafted by the flames, I think in the sixth round. Before Darrell traded his own son. That's right. And then, yeah, he's been back with the Ranglers now captain of that team for a long time, just retired. and now he's one of the assistant coaches.
Starting point is 00:36:33 So collector's item then? Collectors item, absolutely. So the game used socky stick there. And then they've also provided four tickets to a Calgary Wrangler's home game. The only exclusion is the season open and they need about two weeks notice. But yeah, a lot of great items there for collectors and family and anybody who just wants to support the cause. Nationgear.ca is where you can go to check in on the auction items. And I think we're going to close it in, was it Thursday, I believe, I think it coincide.
Starting point is 00:37:01 the time you run. I'm going off top of my head. I think I saw it this morning. Either way, get in there, check it out. All the starting bids are 125. That's just a nice round number to get started. Get in there, find the one you like. And again, as Mike noted, if you can't, if the auction item might be a little rich or you're like, you know what, I got enough jerseys, I'm just going to lose it anyway. You can go ahead and make a donation as well to fax, I think you called it. Yeah, that's right. Do you have like a masseuse? Do you have people on, on hand? Do you have a van or something following you around? I do. I've got a lot of sorts.
Starting point is 00:37:31 support. So I've got people following me along with the van that's got all the food and all the supplies and the massage gun and the change of socks and shoes and everything I'll need, hopefully for the run. Every day, the nice people down at Altafizio, just down the road, they're going to, they've stepped up and provided treatment for me for every day, just the best clinic, the nicest people. So they've been a huge help to me to try and keep me ready and going through this four days. How long do you think it will tell? I'm guessing it might vary. Day four? Time might not be as great as day one. Yeah, we tried to come up with a bit of a prediction.
Starting point is 00:38:07 Because you're telling the fire crews you're going to meet them. That's right. Yeah. Just approximate times. Loose windows, we'll call it. I think, you know, the average finishing time, start around 8 a.m. Average finishing time is probably around 3.30 to 4. I do have that third day.
Starting point is 00:38:22 I start at over by Mount Royal University, run all the way up, the west side, and then down into Valley Ridge, and then over by Nosehill Park eventually is where I finish. That one is near 60 kilometers. I think it's just, just over 58. That would hill at the end of your run. That's going to be a fun day for sure. Well, well done. Yeah, but I think that one we've kind of planned for an arrival around 530 or 6.
Starting point is 00:38:46 Yeah, yeah. That's going to be a long day for sure. I'm seeing 13 degrees in rain on Thursday. Is that running one? I just noticed that, yeah. Sure, it is. We like that. We runners, we like that.
Starting point is 00:38:56 Yeah, it keeps you cool. You don't overheat. It's very good. Yeah. Very good for it. Great idea. Awesome. that you're doing it, man.
Starting point is 00:39:02 I think to come up with the idea is one thing. To commit to doing it is another, whether you're a runner or not. That's marathons. I can't wrap my head around it. So good on you for doing it. Again, nationgear.ca is where you can go and put those auction bids in. And we had that up and we'll show it again before the end of the show, that QR code. You can go and donate directly there as well.
Starting point is 00:39:24 Pike's got the link right there in the comments. If you'd like, also look for us on social media. We'll have some links throughout the day. And yeah, I love what you're doing, Mike, because it's not just about, you know, supporting your coworkers. You're also saying, hey, guys, we have resources that you can use. Lean into them. And I know just from all sides in terms of public awareness, but also supporting your teammates at the hall. A huge tip of the cap.
Starting point is 00:39:49 And you're insane. 55 kilometers a day for 40s. Yeah, I appreciate it, guys. Thanks for having you. We're very, very, very, you know, supportive. It's a crazy idea. You're a crazy person, but good luck. Mike, awesome. Good for you, man.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Thanks, we'll break. Come right back. There we go. You didn't want to join them? I guess your buddy. It's a great cause. Yeah, who's driving that van? I know we're going to Penticton with us a little bit of that, but I'd love to drive the van. Not really what I was thinking about. You know, you're all fit and stuff. I'm not fit. I'm not fit. These guys are next level, man.
Starting point is 00:40:38 I thought you were fit. No. No. I'm fitter than I was three years ago, but that's not a lot. Oh, that's okay. Being fitter than you were. You know what that interview reminded me of? It was hockey marathons. Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:53 And we've checked in and talked with many of those attempts. And it's like, you're, like, what you're doing is incredible and you shouldn't do it. And your body will be scarred for days, weeks, months, years. And you're doing it for an incredible cause. Like, you're insane, but you're insane in a good way. It's one of those things when you hear, oh, maybe, you know, maybe I should join them or do something like that. And then I remember going out to Chestermear because it was just kind of everybody sets
Starting point is 00:41:21 a new Guinness Book of World Records there for a while. And then it just got to be so outrageous. But then you go and you see the the toll that it takes on players. That's better men than me. Yeah, like day one, four hours in, blisters. And yeah, like how many guys have 10 toenails after that? And then do it again a year later. Well, and they did it for like 12 days in a row now.
Starting point is 00:41:46 It's crazy what you got to do to get the world record. So there you go. Mike Norris, 225 kilometers over four days to support the firefighters assistant charitable society. Backland jersey's already after two, hon. Get in there, folks. Nationgear.com. I mentioned last week, I think it was, that our buddy Justin over at Vinova had some news. Yeah, big news. What is this? Your hold note on me. You know me. I'm a newsbreaker. November 1st. So not today.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Don't rush down there today because it's too soon. But November 1st. Robert Rabbit. Vena Nova. Moving to Market Mall. Wow. Vena Nova would like to thank the Barnburner community again for the continued support. We'll be easier for many to access.
Starting point is 00:42:31 I think that's safe to say. Agreed. It's a popularity thing is such a curse. Probably needs more space. You know, they're in the Stephen Avenue place. And that's, we all know where it is. It's tricky to get in there. It's not as convenient as it could be.
Starting point is 00:42:44 Market mall, all kinds of parking. Yeah. All kinds of entrants to get in a. So, Vena Nova. Love it. Pulling up the stakes and moving to the market mall, opening November 1st. However, here is this. They've got a moving sale on.
Starting point is 00:42:59 Why take it all when you can sell it? Yeah, it gets better. 20 to 70% off everything in store. And already, what do we know about lab grown diamonds? They're already. They're already, yeah. Yeah. Like a fraction of the price.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Yeah. That's unbelievable. Better hours. better access, and right now at the Stephen Avenue Place location, which is Calgary's only store that specializes exclusively in Labgrown, 20 to 70% off everything in store. November 1. Christmas is still in December, you know? We're not real good at planning ahead, you know?
Starting point is 00:43:33 No, we're not. But this would be save yourself some dough, a headache. Why wouldn't you do it? We've said it numerous times. You, Wret, myself, we've all dabbled in the, Vinanova, if you want an absolute no doubter, slam dunk, Grand Slam, didn't screw it up, best gift of all time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:53 And it, but I don't, I, I don't know what that's what they do. That's why you go to that. That's why you go to them and they will help you. They know. Vena Nova.com or again, the, the sale is on now, 20 to 70% off everything in store. Vena Nova, moving to the market mall. But right now, second level, Stephen Avenue plays. Love it.
Starting point is 00:44:09 How about it? Let's do the Pinder Report. Pinder Report, a presentation of. Village Honda. I was in there Thursday last week. Really? Just shaking. What you doing? Oh, you know. Just checking out the dealership for life? Yeah, just chining it up. Just hanging on the Northwest Island. That's right. All right. Yeah. Right now at Village Honda, if you've got a vehicle, Honda's looking to buy them. They want some used vehicles. They want more cars on their lot. They want more vehicles in their inventory. You can sell Village Honda, your car. You'll get payment in 24 hours
Starting point is 00:44:43 and a trip to Las Vegas. Sorry, I thought you said you're going to get paid in 24 hours and a trip to Vegas. That's right. A voucher for two to Vegas plus the payment for your vehicle in 24 hours. I should just sell my vehicle to them. You should, yeah. Bite right back, thanks.
Starting point is 00:44:58 No, there's some fine print. Okay. Well, they know more. There's a little asterisk there. It's like, don't be it. I'll be a richer. Yeah. Village Honda located in the Northwest,
Starting point is 00:45:08 Alamo online at villagehonda.com present the Pinder report. All right. as we start with the flames news of the day. This morning, it announced that not a PTO, but a contract for Jared Tenorty. The left shot defenseman, who was a Habs first rounder rounder, as we noted, a two-way deal. He'll make under 400 grand in the HL and around 800 in the NHL. Now it's just up to him to determine which squad he makes. There is some large quantities of guys that could round out the bottom of the NHL roster. What Tenorty does that's different. He's huge. And yeah, not a afraid to fight six scraps last year, Dino, per our friends at hockey fights. All right. Six tilts would have put him probably top of the list in Calgary. And there's maybe something to that. I agree.
Starting point is 00:45:55 Not to say this. I don't think he's being brought in for his youth. No, 32. Yeah. Or his offensive upside. It is, he is 6'6 and can handle himself. That is correct. So, yeah. And I know balls large, but probably could fight rather than will fight.
Starting point is 00:46:13 Jared Tenority is a will fight guy. And sometimes in seasons where you're not expecting high wind totals, you want a few guys like that to say, okay, like enough's enough. There you go. So we'll see if that earns him a role with the big club. There are a lot of guys here. Here's Mike Gold, your boy. Goldie.
Starting point is 00:46:32 Goldie. Trotting out the organizational depth chart. We are coming off that career season where, did he lead the NHL goals for defensemen? It's unbelievable. Anderson, a bit of a down year. but again, still a very good defenseman in this league, making nearly enough money.
Starting point is 00:46:47 Bean brought in when Oliver Schillington didn't get done in time, couldn't get, wouldn't get, whatever. Ball brought in in the Markstrom trade, Miramano of the return for Hanofin. Pahall and Hanley, your two waiver claims. Barry's here on a PTO. That's more of the smaller right shot, offensively skilled, Tenority, the opposite profile,
Starting point is 00:47:08 big, more defense first, physical. And then you've got Salovov. needs a contract, but sounding close to getting done. And I thought looked absolutely the part of a third pair physical, big stay-at-home defenseman last year and in a few small looks. Porre is a guy that'll be curious. He had the massive, nasty slash on his arm that cost him nearly the whole year. But a guy that has had a lot of tools we've been waiting for.
Starting point is 00:47:31 Verstevich will graduate to the American League this year. Khrushnizov in his NHL debut last year. Grushnikov came over with a tad up deal. Yerbo comes over in the Lidlopdeal. That's a good last year for them. That's a lot, eh? that's a lot of guys for the NHL and HL team. 11 of those 16 defensemen were not with the cavalry flames 12 months ago. That's a Pike bomb.
Starting point is 00:47:51 Pike bomb is a pike bomb. So you noted there, Craig, Connie, it's a lot of D. I just feel like it feels, uh, it's a lot of defensemen. Mm-hmm. And a lot of new faces to my, to, uh, Pike's point. Okay. Let's move. Uh, I don't, we don't talk a lot about professional women's hockey.
Starting point is 00:48:13 They played year one last year. They didn't have names or logos. They just went with the city names. Right. They've gone to names. I don't know if it's good. No, some of these I really like.
Starting point is 00:48:24 Boston's on the left. All right. And they looks like a Wailer's. Sideways Whalers, which I love the shout out. Yeah. And the name has to tie into, you know,
Starting point is 00:48:35 being on the ocean and fleets and things like that. You have the freeze. So what is the name? Is it? Let's pull it up. I just, I think there was two sheets to this, but let's go in order.
Starting point is 00:48:46 Let's do some guessing then if we don't know. I can pull it up here. Well, no. So it's the Boston. Is there's a B? There's also a T. It's not the fleet, but it's something like that.
Starting point is 00:48:55 If you're looking there, the, the, I got it for you right here. Brigade. That's what I'm going to go. No, no, no, no. Hang on. Bouncy. The fleet, the Boston fleet.
Starting point is 00:49:08 All right. Because, of course, the King C, tea and the salty C. and salty sea yeah rowdy okay so the second one isn't it's an it's the logo I feel bad for people that are just listening I always do by the way for the logos it's not great so this is it it looks cold doesn't it do you want a clue the yeah it's in Minnesota one of your colder markets okay so are they using Minnesota so the the Minnesota freeze it's the freeze that's correct all right good which also I think is a superhero friggin cold freeze all right it's a frost
Starting point is 00:49:41 not the freeze. Thank you. It is indeed the frost. Thank you. The frost settling in Minnesota. So just so I know, when you put this together, you put the logos, but you didn't know what the names were? We're going to do a little deep dive on some other stuff in here. This is just the primer we didn't need, but we're doing anyway.
Starting point is 00:49:58 You could probably guess what markets in the middle because that's not an English word. Is it Quebec, Quebec, Montreal? Du Montreal. Le Victoire. Le Victoire. That means the spirit. Yeah. The Montreal spirits.
Starting point is 00:50:14 My dad is named Victor. Victor's. We're the daughters of Victor. We got the sirens. That's New York. You do hear a lot of sirens in New York. Do you notice that? You do.
Starting point is 00:50:22 You watch movies there. You've been there. Yeah. Yeah, it's a lot. So there you go. And good on you for figuring it out with that logo. Yes, that's an easier one to just like the son of the victors. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:33 Daughter of the victors. So now this one's interesting because, gosh, I was thinking there'd be a city name that started with C in this league with the recent. congratulations to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the cavalry flames on their new child. Is that what it is? Which is the Ottawa. Charge? Rampage.
Starting point is 00:50:55 Charge. Charge. It is absolutely the love charge. Go back to that Cavaliers and Flames. Is the Ottawa charge? Is that not the exact? It's in the middle. You can certainly see.
Starting point is 00:51:11 how that would be the case. Those two logos were doing some coach wrestling. Look at this. I'll spit it out into. Yeah, I can't say that's their best work. It also kind of has some Colorado Rockies vibes if we turn that around, change the colors. Anyway. And then finally, the last one, or the Toronto SEPters. You know what a SEPter is? Is it a video game? Could be.
Starting point is 00:51:33 I think it's one of those long staff. Sector 360 when I went to college, play NHL 94. The problem with this one is it's actually a total ripoff of Taylor Swift. Jeez. So the Toronto Swifties, I think is... McLeod-Dashlaw.com. Have you owned a copyright and had it stolen?
Starting point is 00:51:54 Contact McLeod. Yeah, but we put this little... No, the scepter. This thing at the top. It's a ball with a spike of the top. It's not similar at all. That's right. We are not... I repeat, we are not trying to piggyback
Starting point is 00:52:05 the success of Taylor Swift. You know, it's hard. Everybody likes to take runs. Now we're taking runs. You come up with something new. don't want to do something that's tired you want to be you want to be new and that and then everybody's going to take runs uh that also helps when you see them on the jerseys and you get the color and i'm and i'm honestly i think a lot of them will be normal but it's the thing like remember when the jets came out and it's like hey it's like you look at it's like it's perfect fine just hang
Starting point is 00:52:28 perfectly fine just just take a beat and it'll be fine yeah well there you go although i do wonder what the taylor swifting yeah there might be some amendments the toronto swifties not the sceptors swifty sceptor calling up a high as design company we're going to need to make some change changes. This has been your PWHL update. There it is. Let's move to baseball, where your boy, Aaron Judge, I don't know if you saw it. He was on Paw Patrol. I do not see it. I don't think you need to see it. But what you need to know is that since he's been on Paw Patrol, he's not hitting his way. He's striking out 42% of the time. And kind of looks like him. I wonder what Mayor Humdinger's done here that needs Aaron Judge.
Starting point is 00:53:15 See, I'm not that familiar with Paw Patrol. It's kind of out of my... I just got a tiny piece of it, but I do remember Mayor Humdinger. Jack, you big Paw Patrol guy? Jack? No. What do you mean? No. A little too old for that. Okay, fine.
Starting point is 00:53:29 This is the other mayor? Because there's the... Like, Chase? No. I know that. Here's the other thing. Bobby Witt, 21 less home runs than Aaron Judge. Now, this is make-believe. So if you put them into each other's ballparks, then they play.
Starting point is 00:53:41 played all their games there, which again is make believe. Whit would have 38 home runs. Judge we have 38. Oh, see, there's no. This is when you play at a joke stadium. It's not real data. The Yankee Stadium. The short portion right. It's the jet stream. It's cheating.
Starting point is 00:53:53 It's the golf stream. Total cheaters. Yankees son. We'll move on. What else do we need to know about baseball? We can tell you the White Sox are really bad. And when anything happens to Chicago, who do we go to the inside? Our buddy, Jay Kuda. Our boy, Jay Kuda with another banger.
Starting point is 00:54:09 Now let's read this closely. The number of games won. in Chicago in the last 50 days. And how many baseball teams play in Chicago? So any sports team that has been victorious in the city limits of Chicago. This is, yeah, exactly that. Because I see the bears are in there. They won.
Starting point is 00:54:24 It only took them one try to get a win in Chicago. They did that on Sunday. We'll get more on that in a moment. A lot of baseball teams travel through Chicago. As you see at the top of the list, the Cubs, they have 15 wins over the last 15 days in Chicago. It makes sense because their home field. Regley is in Chicago. Now, there's one other team whose home field is in Chicago.
Starting point is 00:54:44 It's the White Sox of Chicago. They have one win in the last 50 days there. The Tigers have five. The Yankees have four. Four teams have three. The Brewers and Pirates have two each. And many teams that only played one or two games in Chicago, still as many wins as the Chicago White Sox in the last 50 days.
Starting point is 00:55:03 I think we need to make a call out to our boy, Mike Soroka, make sure he's all right. Goodness. The thing of baseball is you play every day. Now, maybe that's good. You're just going to play, but you lose every day. It's not like football where you've got some days off. You just get away from everybody.
Starting point is 00:55:17 No, you're around the same dudes, same bunch of losers, every friggin day until the end of the season. It's nasty out there. It's one of the worst seasons we'll probably see of Major League Baseball in our lives. And there's been some miserable ones. Goosh. Goosh, indeed.
Starting point is 00:55:34 Finally, we got, what's this label? A fan. Well, it's called something else. but well, this is, I've cut, I've written it down as fan teeth. I see. There's always a rowdy. You know, I was in Seattle this year. I was being a little rowdy.
Starting point is 00:55:46 You need to guys start the chance, get the fans engaged, start the wave when it's ridiculous, stop the wave when it's a close game. This guy is. We need those people, is what you're saying? We sure do. We need the people to activate the fans. This is, look at this guy doing a great job. No, Dean, can you please describe to those listening in the audio on?
Starting point is 00:56:09 It's a man who has that, his hair has been spray painted on, like that spray can. Yeah, that's right, yeah. And he is pretending to pull a string off the top of his head straight up. And then his dentures are coming out. That's how you activate a fan base. Dean, how are your dentures? That's gross. Let's go to the Pirates.
Starting point is 00:56:32 I guess so much ass. Hey, can you just leave those on the bedside table? Anything for you, babe? Don't. I had to take it there, didn't you? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:46 You want to see pain? Here's a Pirates pitcher in a close game doing what he didn't want to do. Keep an eye on the lefty and white. Chaparro to deep left. This ball is hammered. Mother. Second deck here at PNC Park. The replay is so good.
Starting point is 00:57:05 Andres Chaparro's second home run of the series and he's tied this ball game. Just fall to your knees. Looks like Jim Carrey taking the cane to the back of the knees at the gala. Will Levis did this on. Sunday as well as the Titans blew a huge lead against the bears. Oh yeah. He handed a pick six the other way and then was seen on his knees, hands on helmet looking to the gods. That's a good one.
Starting point is 00:57:29 There is that. And what's great about it is the instant that you know. It's so quick. The balls may be just over, you know, the infield just heading into over the grass and the pitcher's already, it's gone. You could close your eyes and know that was gone. It's gone. It made the sound.
Starting point is 00:57:47 That was the home run sound. Love it. Let's get to a busy NFL weekend. There are winners and losers and there are happy fan bases and there are sad ones. And then there is a king of most hated player in the NFL as, well, the Sean Watson, he got traded for a lot of picks and those picks got moved around. And then those picks got, is that true? He got a 100% guaranteed contract, the first of its kind for a quarterback.
Starting point is 00:58:14 We're talking, what, 45 million a year from the Browns? He was going to solve their problems as a quarterback. when you just shuffle it all out. All those picks are now players. C.J. Stroud, Kenyon Green, John Metchie, the third, Christian Harris, Thomas Booker, Damon Pierce, Will Anderson Jr.,
Starting point is 00:58:31 Kaelin Bullock, Tank Dell, Camaricetor. Thank you. Jamal Hill and Cade Stor. It's half a team they traded for Watson. He must be really good, Dean, right? That's awful. You saw it happen to, man, Tyree Kill got roughed up
Starting point is 00:58:48 of the police there. Yeah, yeah. That's a tough one. Not the only player. I know the dolphins had that incident, but in Cleveland, apparently this too, because Deshawn Watson.
Starting point is 00:58:56 Oh, is this Deshawn? Yeah. Arrest not been. He's been awful for years. Yeah. And mostly not playing, but then when he does,
Starting point is 00:59:09 he's awful. He doesn't look to, he's hurting, he's awful. Yeah, it doesn't look to me like he is interested in playing. He looks like a different human. He was a very good quarterback
Starting point is 00:59:17 before all this. It's weird that you get all that guaranteed money. And then your give a shit meter seems to go down. To be fair, he's been, the things he's been given a shit about over the last three, four years have got him in a lot of trouble. And I've been interested in being distracted and also, I don't know that he can show his face anywhere. I know there were a lot of people talking about it because Baker Mayfield had such a good weekend. It's like, so the guy that you got rid of and gave 300 and whatever guaranteed million to.
Starting point is 00:59:44 And all the picks. Is a D-bag and awful. And the guy that you quit on is now looking like a good. And everybody loves a quarterback. He's matured and whatever issues maybe he had or gone. There's another accusation against Watson, which is hard to, at this point,
Starting point is 01:00:00 start thinking it's not. It's hard not, I mean, it's easy Monday morning quarterback, but there were a lot of people at the time that said, you just, there are things that are bigger than sport, bigger than football.
Starting point is 01:00:09 You don't bring this person with these issues into your family, into your, into your locker. And then what happened when you got hurt last year and Joe Flacko came in? They started winning. They looked like a good team. Juno is backing up at Cleveland right now.
Starting point is 01:00:22 Famous James Winston. That's right. They cannot get him the ball soon enough. He's going to start eating W's. As a, umari Cooper owner, give his ass under center immediately, and Deshawn, see ya. It's a lot of guaranteed money. It's so much. It's crazy. Now, the Bears, they've got to win.
Starting point is 01:00:40 I mean, yeah. Halo, your team, the Bears. Oh, he's pumped. Caleb Williams must have gone off. He was really good. Prior to the Bears win over the Titans on Sunday, the last 60 times an NFL team had no rushing touchdowns, no passing touchdowns, no kick return touchdowns,
Starting point is 01:00:56 no punt return touchdowns, and less than 150 yards of offense, those teams were 0 and 60. Their coach had the quote, and I guess that you don't have it, but he said, if we would have just punted on first and 10, we'd have probably won the football game.
Starting point is 01:01:11 Oh, the Titans were up by 17, I want to say in this. If we just didn't have our offense touch the football, we probably win the game. And he might be right. And I think our pals at Bet365, they got that you're up 17. We'll just cash it now.
Starting point is 01:01:27 You could add both sides and what you could have both sides. That's right. Yeah, the early bonus. Oh, it's painful over there, man. They weren't good. That's another J-Kuda banger, I think, which we always appreciate. So the Titans were on the other end of that.
Starting point is 01:01:41 How in the world did you screw this up, Titans? You see the Will Love Us, the pick six, the gift trapped yeah no good at all uh bears defense and special teams got all the points 24 to zero that's right zero for the offense 24 for the now two point conversion technically is special teams a lot of people were arguing that was the offense i see yeah because it's like you're you're out there to kick a point or you can it's a special teams play uh so zero points for calib williams and if you made bets against calip williams winning uh you lost those hey listen it's his first game he got a win i'm just more worried about my picks i love
Starting point is 01:02:18 that Tennessee plus four back. I know you did. Damn it. I'm sorry. Danny Dimes also bad. Not just in Caleb, but more to the Deshawn Watson. Real bad, yeah. He signed a $160 million contract at some point last season and since then has thrown more touchdowns to the other team
Starting point is 01:02:34 than his own. I believe that's three pick sixes to two touchdown passes. Those uniforms were not good and Danny Dimes looked worse. He looks like a Montreal alouette and I was thinking, whoever is the that quarterback is better.
Starting point is 01:02:49 It's probably better than this guy. I take Anthony Calvio at 50. I still just don't. I don't, like it's, it's crazy. Antonio Brown can't help himself. This is Antonio.
Starting point is 01:02:58 This is AB, CTSBN. A four McDonaget, a good happy meal costs 539. Daniel Jones costs $160 million. Neither can throw a touchdown, can read a defense, but at least the happy bill makes you happy.
Starting point is 01:03:10 And Daniel Jones makes you sad. I'll tell you, that's Antonio Brown. Is he doing, is he doing the photo shot? Like the, It's CTSBN, a huge network he's got, right, Jack? You're big fan.
Starting point is 01:03:20 Goodness gracious. Did you guys see Jones getting booed to even the stadium? Oh, yeah. Dude, I mean. And who did they let go that had a monster week one that was a good giant that could have built around and paid? Sequin Barclay. Or the three touchdowns of you?
Starting point is 01:03:34 Yeah, they messed that up. Yeah. So you paid Danny dimes, but not. When's the Italian coming back in? Oh, he's backing up somewhere else. Is he not in Buffalo or somewhere? I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 01:03:45 Vito. I saw it. I'm not sure. He's somewhere else. I know Tommy Cutlets. That's right. The agent was very happy with all that. He was very happy with it. Yeah. Christian McCaffrey owners last night got a mega shock as it was announced he would not play the Monday nighter after listed with a calf injury. Then post game, Jordan Mason said, yeah, yeah, they told me Friday I'd be starting. What? Yeah. Uh-huh. Uh, that's tough on a Monday. Sunday, you can slide someone else in there. Monday, it is straight panic. And our boy, Rhett was sitting looking at this or not looking at this last night. Right. So he went with CMC. Did he? I, yeah. And way back to Thursday, because we haven't done a show since then. Remember, we all fell in love with the Kansas City's fullback slash running back. Carson Steele. It's got the long hair. I don't remember that. He's Crokey J. So of course he's got to get on this show. he was given an alligator as a young man. And now said alligator is like his size.
Starting point is 01:04:50 And it's still his pet hasn't been able to get him Kansas City yet working on some paperwork. That's a Pinda report. What kind of ever seen? What kind of paperwork do you need? Well, it's an exotic pet. So I would suggest exotic pet paperwork. Jackie, familiar with exotic pet paperwork? No, no.
Starting point is 01:05:06 So it's like in some of those cities you can't own a pit bull or whatever. I remember that. Or it's just like, hey, we got to keep track. If you're bringing one of these into our state, Like we need to know about it. Like, we can't just have these things run around. Yeah. Can't just be out walking your, your alligator,
Starting point is 01:05:21 Crocky J on the, on the boulevard. Now, I am a little confused. A crocodile is not an alligator. This is an alligator. His nickname's Crocky J. We've got to go back to the workshop of this. Yeah, see, it's not great. It's got to be more consistent than that.
Starting point is 01:05:31 And I, just thinking, what kind of hillbillies are his folks? I love it. Just a guess. Hey, love us love, Dean. I suppose. NCAA, haven't seen this before. You know, there's always the,
Starting point is 01:05:48 ooh, the free throws will wave our arms because it will distract the shooter. Yeah. Oh, it's a field goal guy. Everyone makes some crazy noises. This is good one. It's from college football on the weekend. I really like this one.
Starting point is 01:06:00 He's lining up a kick to him. Out of the hold of Blake Hayes, the punter. From 43, the spot on the right hash. Snap down, kick is up plenty of leg, but he hung it wide right. I bet. Is that a, uh, that a gopher? Alan, Alan, Alan, Alan.
Starting point is 01:06:19 Steve, Steve. On the Jumbotron, there's a, uh, I can't even see the efforts. Because I'm looking at this thing. A ground squirrel animal. Yeah. What's the ground dog to animal? Uh, that's the ground dog. Right.
Starting point is 01:06:32 Let's get to our dumb ass because we're not there apparently. What? Where is it? I feel like we've been doing it for 15 minutes. I've got trick written now. What kind of a trick do we have in here? Hmm. trick.
Starting point is 01:06:44 Makes sense. 90. Oh, yeah, here we are. Okay. So this is something you could play. So it's a guy holding a blindfold. Holding a watermelon. Watermelon's going to a hole in it.
Starting point is 01:06:56 Oh, my God. No, no, no. I think it's, uh, well, Brad, if you were, if you were wondering where the stupid shit is, uh, Brad. Can we just put that comment up again? It just gets worse.
Starting point is 01:07:25 Don't do this to you. What the fuck? Yeah. This is just mean. You can't do this to your parents. What it is for people that are listening, they're saying it's the Nettella dog poop trick, where you blindfold someone and then take some Nettella that I'm guessing is warm
Starting point is 01:07:50 for the prank to be somewhat believable. And then putting the hiny of an animal in front of them, and they think that they've stuck their finger in the, because you know, she's kind of fancy some things. Yeah. This would drive her up the wall. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:09 Yeah. If you could, if you're going to, can I be there when you do it? We're going to need some witnesses for the police to sort out how it happened. Yeah. Let's go to number 98. This was collected mid-summer,
Starting point is 01:08:25 but we really haven't done a lot of shows. Nice to find this in the archives. always great to go to these gator parks with well-trained gator experts. Thanks for joining us in Gatorama here in Florida. Folks, don't do this at home. I am a professional. I know what I'm doing.
Starting point is 01:08:50 And that gator, you know, it's kind of like how many fingers this guy are now? Watching that Patriots documentary. We've got the double pass and we're going to do it, but we're going to wait and we're going to wait all season. And then in a big game, we're going to pull it out. That gator's like, I'm going to snap that fucker's hand.
Starting point is 01:09:10 Won't be today. And it won't be tomorrow. It might be next year. You know what? Just when he thinks he's got me figured out, I'm going to get him. You know what it is? It's July 4th. That was going that big crowd.
Starting point is 01:09:20 He's fucking going down. Get ready. Today's the day. They're talking to all the gators are talking about, are you really doing it today? Yeah. Yeah. Oh. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:29 Don't look obvious. Like, stay cool. Stay cool. He's going to be mad. I know. I know. And finally, Dean,
Starting point is 01:09:35 you know, we're all launching into some side project. and ventures, you know, spreading our wings a little. Jack and I had our first show, saving Thursday last week where we dove in with our buddy Tyson Cole on some of the gambling lines on week one. We're very happy to hammer the over on the Isaiah. Likely rush our receiving yards, had a great week.
Starting point is 01:09:52 And that, tons of fun. And I see you finally got the bun bakery up and running. Congrats on the new bun shop. Yeah, there it is. No, you didn't have to close too long. I know staff were a little rattled, that. What happened there?
Starting point is 01:10:19 Hope you get caught on the machine? Yeah, you see there's some sort of a spinny thing at the, uh, oh, I see. It catches the sleeve and oh, this won't be a problem. No, correction. This will be a problem. Uh, Monday night raw. Good slam there.
Starting point is 01:10:32 That is it. That's it, folks. That's a bakery, is it? That's your bun, yeah. That's boomers bun hut. Got it. Five stars on Yelp. Uh, your Pender report on a Tuesday.

Starting point is 01:11:43 the Dutch are playing soccer today so Anthony trying to work then who are the Dutch well Holland right Orange Netherlands is the Dutch Netherlands is the Dutch Netherlands is Holland
Starting point is 01:12:00 Netherlands is Holland I'm just trying to think is it still Barnburn or Blonde summer still God, you know how it was on the weekend? Yeah. Because I saw it with origin, it's been a barn burner blonde.
Starting point is 01:12:16 You know our, our beer are beautiful over my right there, Barber and a blonde. Fresh batch in stock because I know on the website it was sold out for a little bit. Dude, we can't keep the stuff in stock. It's unbelievable. Yeah. I saw our buddy, Man Deep in the chat. Oh, Deep is always there. Love him.
Starting point is 01:12:35 Of course, BK. Beaufort. Liquor, one of the places you can grab them, but there's a whole, whole raft, a whole slew of places where you can get that and of course all of the origin brewing beers but it's been 24 has been an unbelievable year for them and they of course back you get the fire burn there it is yeah yeah yeah they have the tap room 60 spruce park drive and strathmore origin brewing dot c is the website and now their new location nine uh 943 28th street northeast there you go up in the knee baby so there it is they've had the you know they have their kind of that delivery thing going.

Starting point is 01:13:22 Hilton family, and they know what they're doing. Yeah, they do. I don't know about partnering with us, but surely makes us look good. Yeah, aside from that, it's, their judgment has been really on point. I know they were,
Starting point is 01:13:30 they've been out in the, uh, out in the fields. They've been knocking her down and. Oh, for sure. How has the season been? I would think a very moist start would have been a pretty good summer. It was moist, but it got super hot. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:43 Remember, they had that stretch. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's, I think it moved things up. Yeah. Probably a good week, two weeks. But yeah, they were in full swing. Good. Well, I hope things are going well there.
Starting point is 01:13:53 I usually get a text to. Yeah, Sterling. Do you want to bring the young hyenas onto one of these machines? I'm like, you've met my children. Yeah. Keep them away from the expensive machine. Yeah, that'll be that the bun hut. Yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 01:14:04 That's, you don't need that. Yeah, no power core. I don't need that for sure. So now, today is. Tuesday. We are going to do a show on Thursday and then on Friday Hawaiian T-shirt Day. Hawaiian Shirt Day. But we're
Starting point is 01:14:18 also hitting the road. We will be departing 11 a.m. from Y, Y, Y, C. Jack, you're the executive director and more. I don't even know what the title is. He's our boss. Yeah, just boss. How did this get greenlit?
Starting point is 01:14:34 I have no idea. Because this has got Pinder written all over it. going to Penticton where he used to work. Many moons ago, yeah. But I mean, you have buddies everywhere. Do you have any buddies in Penticton? Well, we've found position A for our broadcast position.
Starting point is 01:14:54 Now, some places would be very keen to be lined up in the press row with a view of Center Einstein from Penticton. Not us. We are going to take this program to Penticton. It's the Vancouver Canucks, but it's the Young Stars classic rookie tournament. It goes every year. There's a bit of small hiatus there for a little bit,
Starting point is 01:15:14 but it's been back now. Rookie squads for the Flames, Jets, Oilers, and Canucks will all kind of play each other over the course of the three days. For the Flames, it is Friday against the Jets, Saturday, Oilers, Monday, the Canucks. And yes, we will be there, but not really there. I mean, we'll be at the rank at some point.
Starting point is 01:15:33 You've got press accreditation. Do I? I got it for yesterday. Nice. So we'll be doing the show from, the arena? No, no, you're allowed to go to the arena. That's what the press accreditation is for.
Starting point is 01:15:46 I thought more for the show we'd want to be at the Barking Parrot bar that hangs off the bottom of the hotel and looks into the lake. Yeah. Where the boats come in. We will be at the lakeside resort and conference center doing the show from the patio of the Barking Parrot. I have returned triumphant, Penticton! Triumphant! It's one thing
Starting point is 01:16:06 for you to allow these dumb videos to get on the Pinder report, like these crocodiles and puke videos and dogs eating egg yolks and stuff. But this, like, how did this get approved? I don't understand. I don't either, but I tell you what, it won't be boring shows. Zero chance Long Arms makes this trip. I think you're right.
Starting point is 01:16:25 I think you're right. We've booked hotel rooms for many people, none with the last name, Warner. Yeah. So now, of course, if you're at all familiar with Pentick, and you know about the Lakeside Resort, as you said, it's right, it's positioning. It's on the bleeping. lake. And then the main floor is position A in the building. Right. Because, you know, they just roll up the windows and there's the lake.
Starting point is 01:16:49 That's right. You can like say, oh, like, there goes boomer out on his C-Doo. So there it is. That's the event that's taking place in the town that we're going to. Yeah, about 20 blocks away from the hotel. Right. Yeah. No, no guarantees that we will have any conversation about it, but we'll be there. But now we're going to have some guests joining us on the patio over the course of the, uh, so we're going to, we're going Friday. We'll do a little scene center Friday. Probably appropriate. shows Saturday, Sunday, Monday. I think a Friday night show might be dangerous because the base really thumps in there as the club heats up.
Starting point is 01:17:17 We may not be able to do it from the barking parrot or whatever it is, but we'll have a scene setter from Penticton on Friday and then get into the shows on Saturday Sunday. All jokes aside, I mean, you're in an NHL organization's life cycle. When you're not good, you're very excited about the prospects. When you are good, you typically don't have prospects and who cares. The Oilers, it is not a year to be in Penticton. Right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:42 This is a cup winning year. For the Calgary Flames, you get to set your eyes on Zane Perrick, Hunter Bristevich, maybe Greden, their first rounder. Maybe one of those 30 defensemen that we showed earlier? 100%. Basha, I mean, Hansik,
Starting point is 01:17:55 big year for him. He can play in the American League amongst numerous other prospects. There's a lot of players. You know, Perrick, absolute a prospect, but a lot of guy, like who's going to pop and take some jobs here
Starting point is 01:18:07 in the next couple years? Yeah. So we will be there, as you say. and we'll be beachside. And our presenting sponsor for our coverage from Penticton from the Young Stars Classic,
Starting point is 01:18:18 our buddies at professional skate service. Their brand new location. I mean, it's been going since April, but still, I was there again. It's another place I was. Look at me. Get an out. I was there last week. It is awesome.
Starting point is 01:18:31 They have moved into the former Frank Sisson's Silver Dollar Casino location. It's a Calgary institution that pro skate, best brands, biggest names. The best staff in the business. Unreal. Hockey, goaltending, figure skating, ringette. They're in it all. They've been doing it since 1972,
Starting point is 01:18:48 and now they're better and bigger than ever. Big tip of the cap to the crew there. I've not unlike you. We did a live show there, August 10. I think I've made five visits since then. And this whole goalie thing, I got the wind coat going, it may as well be handball. I don't know anything about it.
Starting point is 01:19:03 I don't know how stuff I'm supposed to fit. The bag, the gear doesn't fit. I need it. Like, they got you. Yeah. Head on in. It's kids. playing junior B.
Starting point is 01:19:11 It's guys heading off to camps here or there. It's people that have been working with the brands and the gear for decades. They are top-notch service and expertise, never mind the brands. Now, are your kids in the, are they doing the evals? Are they done it? Because, yeah. We have one timing skate has been done. They both have to, because one's hybrid.
Starting point is 01:19:28 And then we've, we've had three goalie sessions already. And then the goalie hybrid will do some scrimmages, some net. Because it is one of those things. If you try and squeeze every last bit of summer out, and then you come home and you realize, oh, the kids got. about a thing on tomorrow night. And then you pull the bag out. Well, these skates don't fit.
Starting point is 01:19:45 These shin pads are that they are useless now because you've grown six inches since last year. You've worked me for a while. I do believe often I think I'm smart, usually erroneously. So I was sure I'd outfox the world with this hybrid goalie thing. I was like, well, you know, he's going to be a goal anyway. You can buy the goal year. It is what it is.
Starting point is 01:20:04 What I hadn't thought about is that he'd grown out of all of his players. Think about being a hybrid. is you're not, yeah, doing both. So God bless folks at Pro Skate, helping us get through that. Out of boy. See you in Pentict. That's where that great staff comes in, because they're able to point you in the right direction.
Starting point is 01:20:25 They can help. They can tell you, are you sure you want to do this hybrid goalie thing? I know, I've heard a mixture news. Have you thought about all of this? PSScalgary.com is the website again. PSScalgary.com. Now, at the bottom of their webpage, you have a little thing, you can sign up for their newsletter.
Starting point is 01:20:41 Do it. because you might get, you'll get, obviously, if there's going to be a new product coming in, new lines of skate sticks, whatever it is, plus there might also be a, hey, you, you newsletter subscriber you, here's a little discount, maybe a little deal for you. So do that.
Starting point is 01:20:57 Pssscalgary.com. Yes. Go get it. Oh, Penticton. So now, what else? I can be talking about Thursday. Yeah, whatever you're talking about now. I'm excited to get back there.
Starting point is 01:21:07 It's been Eon since I've been there. Well, I can tell. Oh. Well, so my first year there was the head coach's first year there. He is now the head coach general manager and president of the team that has become the top junior A club in the country. That rink is absolutely sparkling and dazzling. And look, you've got a chance some decent weather in mid-September in Penticton, too. Why not?
Starting point is 01:21:32 Will there be any fruit? It will be apple season. Apples will be phenomenal. Peaches might be a little soft by now. Fest kind of later to mid, late to mid August. Apples. This is perfect prime time for apples. Can we go apple picking?
Starting point is 01:21:48 Can we go to a, can you do that? They'll pay you to pick them. That's how it works. Yeah. Oh my. You're going to hate it. You'd rather just eat them. Well, we've got to pay for this trip somehow.
Starting point is 01:21:57 I get these hotel rooms paid for. There you go. I don't know if you've heard of wine as well. Yes. Lots of wine out there. Because I've never been. I'm not a big wine guy. But they don't want you drinking it.
Starting point is 01:22:10 you swish it and spit it out. Well, that's a fancy wine tasting thing. If you're a true, um, Somalié, Suval, Somalii.
Starting point is 01:22:19 What's the one or the suvi where it cooks? Yeah, suvied, yeah. If you're a suvi, uh, apparently you can choose to just wash around your mouth, breathe in,
Starting point is 01:22:28 taste and smell the notes and not even drink it. Which to me would be missing the whole point of wine. Yeah, I would think that's kind of what it's about, but yeah. But we'll go ask. Okay. There's no game on Sunday.
Starting point is 01:22:40 We do a live show Sunday. We got football watching Sunday. Yeah. Games on Friday, Saturday, Monday. This is lining up beautifully. Yeah. Yeah. This is really,
Starting point is 01:22:48 and as you say, you don't like hanging out with Pinter unless you're getting paid. So this is your job. You're getting paid. You can smile that you're in Penticton. I'm not sure. That's how this is working. I think that my take home would be the same if we didn't do the trip.
Starting point is 01:23:00 But it's going to be good. You know, we'll go have a blast. And hopefully we'll steal some, some flame stories. I'm thinking Sunday might be the day, you know, that a plan might be able to call in a,
Starting point is 01:23:10 favor and see if somebody can try show with some big wigs yeah maybe some winnipeg folk will be sifting around Vancouver folk already reached out our pals at caresan price do a phenomenal job on our network in Vancouver are they doing shows there they are they were they were very early in the morning they used to be an afternoon show oh what's going on with you can you meet us at eight i'm like eight what are we eight it's like seven mountain time it's actually nine but you know yeah it's going to feel early it's very early all right well um now Did we do football, we did football picks last week. I've said for a long time, if you have the, the chutzpah and the, the, the steel ones, the brassy ones to go against our picks, God, we would have made you a lot of money or a lot of years and doing this stuff.
Starting point is 01:23:56 Yeah. Yeah. Opposite George, as we've called it. Yeah. Over the years has probably paid swimming. Switch your kids your college. Yeah. Bet 365, the official gaming partner of Barnburner and Flames Nation, bet 365.
Starting point is 01:24:10 the world's largest sports betting platform. If you are new to it, open an account, get the app in your phone, open an account with Bet365. There's a huge range of markets and sports, all kinds of things, props, you name it. Tons. Use the promo code FN bonus for a nice little bonus. FN bonus. That's right, for a bonus.
Starting point is 01:24:30 FN bonus when you sign up to Bet365. Whatever the sport, whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365. I had, because it was week one, I said I was going to go in and talk. up the old account there at my bet 365 so I did that I am $31 to the good today wow how about that bet 365 I hope they're I bet they're business here but they're thinking man we really shouldn't have these guys are going to put us out of business and bonus is killing us $31 profit yeah that's right and if and I had it last night I didn't a little I know we do some things but there's you go on there is suffice to say if Brock Purdy would have three
Starting point is 01:25:11 thrown one touchdown pass. It would have been an even better way. Here's the thing. He did throw a touchdown pass. It's just that Brandon and I, you dropped it. Right, Jack?
Starting point is 01:25:20 Am I crazy there? That should have been caught. Maybe if you didn't hold out for. Maybe he gets a camp. You catch that? I know the man who might win another 23 bucks or something. Selfish how you? Yeah,
Starting point is 01:25:30 I think who is our best picker this week, Jack? I mean, we each made three. I'm sure somebody ran the table. The best we did was one for three. Oh, my God. What? Yes.
Starting point is 01:25:42 So who went one for three? Me, you, Rhett, went one for three. Boom, you went over three. Oh, my God. What? Packers plus two and a half. Giants plus one and a half. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:54 And then the Seahawks minus six and a half. They won by six. Oh, that's okay. How close was the Friday night? Bit of a bad beat. Is Friday within four or something like that? It's close. It was close near the end.
Starting point is 01:26:05 It was close. Love buckled. Oh, God, that's bad news. You're a Packers fan? Yeah. I mean, the good news is not out for the year, but still. But yeah, because I couldn't remember my Clenching for a month here.
Starting point is 01:26:13 Because by then I was on my bet 365 app and I was already invested in what I was doing on Sunday. I was like, I know, but I wanted what bets I had? I knew I remember, yeah, the Giants, you know, hey, maybe take the plus points here. It's new to. No. No, don't.
Starting point is 01:26:30 You think you had some bad beats. How about Houston up nine with four minutes to play? Line was three. Didn't cover. Yeah. 17 nothing Tennessee plus four didn't cover. remind me now because I saw somebody had the bad beat on the Jerome Ford touchdown with with the Browns.
Starting point is 01:26:47 I saw it. Because it was a blowout game and it was just garbage time. Yeah. Classic. Yeah. So room for improvement. Yep. It's week one.
Starting point is 01:26:56 Yeah. Just like with your fantasy, just like with everything else. Don't overreact. Just be patient. Yeah, yeah, yeah. A lot of things happen to week one. That's not the way it's going to be all season long. If it was week 12, you'd be like, that's just bad week.
Starting point is 01:27:07 But it's the only week we have. So we're going to overreact. You've got to fight that instinct. Just. I do have two bets today. All right. You don't mind if I do? I'd love it.
Starting point is 01:27:17 For bet three six five. Would you? Our partner? I wish you would. Some really good footy today. And I mean really good. In Conccaf, it doesn't get much better than Canada and Mexico.
Starting point is 01:27:25 The Canadian men beat the Americans in the USA for the first time of like 60 years on the weekend. Saturday. They got up 2-0 and then to end up finishing with a 2-1 victory over the Americans. That was in Kansas City on Saturday. Goals from Schaffelberg as well as, Jonathan David. Now they get Mexico, who they've been much sharper than of late, plus 210. They're playing this at Jera's house, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. That's tonight. We love Canada here, plus 210. The other big one, two of the top dogs,
Starting point is 01:27:58 well, pretty much ever in the sport. Netherlands, Germany. This from Amsterdam, half my face, don't know where I am because I get my soccer in Amsterdam. Germans against the Dutch. Holland also in play. I don't know. that works. The Netherlands, the Dutch, Holland and Holland are all in the. But the orange, the royal family is the Iranian, the orange. I don't.
Starting point is 01:28:20 Right. Bet 365. Bet 365. Again, get the app on your phone or your tablet or whatever works for you. But I know for me. I said their app has been my favorite for. Was my first Sunday with the Bet365 app? We had some fun.
Starting point is 01:28:37 Oh, yeah. We had some fun. I was introducing my oldest. I was like, so when you think kickoff, so you think it's over. Yeah. But it's not. Because I forget, I think it was the Saints who went out 14, nothing quick. I'm like, because now you go in and look at the line.
Starting point is 01:28:52 Are they going to win by more than 14 and a half? Are they going to win by more than 17? You got to still some play. 30, 40, that would come moving. Yeah, sure did. Yeah. Yeah. The one you wanted to get on was when Chicago was down by 17.
Starting point is 01:29:06 Take those points. I got on part way on, the Buccaneers. Okay. It was them versus Cleveland, right? Is that who they were there? Dallas Cleveland. Dallas Cleveland.
Starting point is 01:29:17 It was DAC and CD early and then it just went right away from Cleveland. You think of a different game. The Buck's played Washington. Box played Washington because Baker was just throwing. It was like Mike Evans, Mike Evans. Godwin. They are going to beat the breaks off this Washington team today. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:32 I think Washington probably made it closer late. I got in late first quarter on that. Good. Yeah, 365. Props. FN bonus when you sign up. Hammered the Breece Hall receptions and receiving yards yesterday.
Starting point is 01:29:47 That went very well, despite a huge drop in the third quarter to put them over. Don't worry, he'll get it back. He did. Then what else did we have? I mean,
Starting point is 01:29:54 some Chiron action on the Sunday nighter. That was good. Our buddy Tyson Cole, who's doing this Thursday show with Jack and I, saving Thursday, he, he no dummy.
Starting point is 01:30:05 He is sharp. Is that right, eh? Jack home? We were sliding some of, some of the stuff. Like it's a Thursday game. He had some good props. Big time.
Starting point is 01:30:14 He was all over likely and he over. And then we hit a rashay rice big day. That was good. And what was the other one that he really liked? Pacheco. Pacheco, he missed. That was the only one he missed. Three for four.
Starting point is 01:30:31 It's good. You go 75% clip. You're going to be happy. You go 55% you're insane. So with this, you've kind of talked about it. Yeah. saving Thursday. Saving Thursday.
Starting point is 01:30:42 We're live on YouTube every Thursday, 2 o'clock Mountain, 4 Eastern 1 Pacific, if you're not in our neck of the woods. Tyson Cole does some writing at Kinnucks Army. He's got all the spreadsheets. He's crunching numbers all week just to get ready for Thursday and we're team up Thursday night or this week, Bills and Dolphins, you kidding me?
Starting point is 01:30:58 Yeah. Josh Allen against Tua in that offense. Who's going to get thrown in jail? I don't know, but who's going to play running back for Miami's interesting? Mostert and A-Chane. suddenly not 100%. Now, they didn't practice because it's short week,
Starting point is 01:31:14 but they were estimated to be unavailable. Well, A-chan was hurt a good chunk of last year. Yes, most of his career. It's his whole career. So if you see a Jalen Wright out there on the wire or a Jeff Wilson Jr., those would be some, I guess, speculative waiver ads. Now, maybe they're both ready to go, and this is the classic, well, he's not feeling great on Monday, but we're not going to practice them.
Starting point is 01:31:35 He'll be ready on Thursday. But they are both guys with injury track records. And if you're unsure about how things are going, we'll take care of you Thursday live at 2 on the Canada Sports Betting Network on YouTube. How about it? Jack, Jack is a big football head. You've got to really let him stretch out on Thursday.
Starting point is 01:31:54 That a boy, Jack. That a boy, I'm really happy about your. How about your bears? You're five to six there on the jackometer. Yeah, that's a big upgrade. How are you on the bears? One and all. Super duper.
Starting point is 01:32:08 And in division, you've seen, well, I mean, you know, Green Bay loses their quarterback for a month. Yeah, yeah. Minnesota was stunning. Sam Darnold was one of the better quarterbacks I know. Again, it's week one. Don't react. Don't react. Don't react. And Detroit pulled it out of the end, but needed overtime. They were real good when they needed to be. I thought. I also feel for the Rams, Pook and a Koo was going to be out for a bit. Yeah. And, man, Stafford's still good. Like this still, that fourth quarter when they made it interesting. It was pretty impressive work.
Starting point is 01:32:41 All that talk about Blake Corum taking Kiron Williams's job too. Blake Corum, zero touches week one. Zeros. Ronnie Rivers in the house. They'll figure it out. Well, we've figured it out. We got it all done today.
Starting point is 01:32:55 I think so. Nationgear.ca, if you'd like to go and, of course, help out. Our boy, Mike Norris. Mike Norris with his auction items and that is he is going to run 225 kilometers in four days. that is the firefighters assistance charitable society. We talk about it, incredibly high rates of occupational cancer, which is super scary that the things firefighters are exposed to
Starting point is 01:33:20 so that they can go save a life. And then on top of that, imagine the trauma that these incredible humans are going through his first responders, mental health issues, risk of suicide, all that through the roof relative to other occupations. So a great cause, hit that QR code or nationgear.ca for the auction items. that backland jersey is climbing quickly. Very nice. And there's a QR code if you're watching on the YouTube's.
Starting point is 01:33:44 Click it and help if you can. We'll do a show on Thursday. We're not to. We're going to have to do our NFL picks and there's lots of room of improvement. That's right. That's right. Now you've been talking footy. Yes.
Starting point is 01:33:57 Already with your, your bed 365. More footing time. Yes. Sunday is the Calvary AFC pride match. And so last week kind of came up awkwardly but one of the shovelers favorite athletes that's right Marco Carducci Marco Carducci well a great pal of the show and certainly one of the shovelers favorite
Starting point is 01:34:24 calgary athletes it's Marco Carducci from Calvary FC joining us here on Barnburner Marco how are you buddy yeah I'm doing well how are you you told me you uh you saw the clip I did I did see the clip. I got it sent to me a couple of times. I won't comment beyond that. It made me laugh. That's it. That's what we're here to do, a little levity.
Starting point is 01:34:47 You guys are in the home strides of your season. A huge game coming up Sunday against Athletico who are in second place. If you could beat them, you'd be in second place. It's your annual pride match 3 p.m. This is a big one coming up. And I know last year, I think this was the base crowd of the year, really crazy crowd. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:04 I mean, first of all, we're, like you said, we're in the business end of the season now. Every point counts. It has all year, but now you get to that point where we're still eyeing, you know, fighting for the shield and looking for that. And obviously, making sure we're placing ourselves in the best place possible for the run into playoffs. But pride match is always a big one. We, you know, it's such a great event, obviously a great cause that we're, you know, supporting. And I just look back to like years past. it's always been a really fun game and a great atmosphere.
Starting point is 01:35:35 We got a ton of fans out there. I think we've had a lot of success, actually, too. I was looking. We tend to win, which is a good one. But yeah, it's obviously a great event, a great match. And in this case, an important one, too. No question. Yeah, with second place on the line.
Starting point is 01:35:51 And of course, it's the playoff format for the first time I think in league history is going to be the same thing two years in a row. Yeah. We love consistency, finally. But the key of those top two spots is it's essentially a double knock for the one and two seeds, whereas three, four, and five, your first loss, you're done. So you'd love to get into that top two slot, buy a little more insurance, so to speak, because you can have a great game and not winning soccer.
Starting point is 01:36:14 It's a cruel sport, right? That's what happened was last year, right? We had that first place spot after winning the shield. And again, that's our goal, right, is the regular season. And again, we're still 100% focus on that. But we still have that opportunity to go win that second knockout game and get that birth into the playoff final. So yeah, you refer to the structure of the playoffs not changing.
Starting point is 01:36:38 That's nice because it just gives us that freedom. We know what's going to happen. But we'll keep taking it one game at a time. But we know what's kind of that light at the end of the tunnel. How's it been this year? I know there's a lot of draws early. You weren't losing, but gosh, it felt like a little more finished. You guys would have been piling up the wins.
Starting point is 01:36:57 And that's got to be frustrating. Then you get on that August heater and you probably feel like on top of the world. How does the group feel right now relative to that journey the whole year? We feel good. I think the one thing that we were really pleased with and I was pleased with as a player and a captain of the team is we stayed consistent. We knew we were doing the right things. We knew we were playing well. At the end of the day, it's about winning. It's about those fine margins. We weren't getting that, but we knew it wasn't about the principles. It wasn't about the way we were playing. It was just about doubling down. And it came to us in August, right?
Starting point is 01:37:28 You know, we went on a five-game winning streak. We were unbeaten for quite a few and picked up a ton of points when we needed to. We'll stay consistent with that. The last couple of games haven't been the results we've wanted, but it's the same mentality. You know, those draws early on, we didn't question things. We just refined them. And then the results came. We'll keep doing that in this last stretch, too.
Starting point is 01:37:50 Process, right? You've got to stick with it. I know with hockey, it's same. You can get a couple posts that go out. The other team get a puck off a shin pet. it's the same thing. You've got to be happy with the process. And if you do that over a long period of time,
Starting point is 01:38:03 you seem confident the results will follow. Yeah. And I mean that, like you said, we had that test run last year. We went on and a lot of people questioned where we were. And then we found that flow. We found that process. We stayed true to that process.
Starting point is 01:38:16 And then good things happen. So we've had that mentality since the beginning of this season. We'll keep it going through the year. Three home games left. If people haven't been to a Cavs game before, how do you describe it? Because you're a man about town. I'm on, oh, geez, yeah, I've heard about that.
Starting point is 01:38:31 That's probably you get a lot. I've heard about that, but some people haven't been yet. I'm always so proud of this city going down there because it doesn't feel like a traditional Calgary sporting event. It doesn't feel like you're in Calgary. You could be in Germany or France or a little town in Austria. Like Spruce Meadows is just, it's totally different vibes. Yeah, and that's exactly what I would say.
Starting point is 01:38:48 It's such a unique experience. I think a soccer game in general and, you know, the sport, it's a completely different fan experience. Our fans are incredible. You know, we obviously have the foot soldiers who make it loud and, you know, they're supporting us every game. But every single fan who comes out, I think goes and leaves that game regardless and says, what an experience.
Starting point is 01:39:10 I mean, the grounds down in Bruce Meadows, Taco Field is, I mean, really a beautiful place to be. I had that experience when I first joined the team. You go down there and you go, this isn't a really cool place. Yeah. And obviously we've built this beautiful soccer-specific stadium. It's an awesome experience. We love playing at home.
Starting point is 01:39:27 We, you know, we have always been committed to being a team that just is so hard to play when teams come play us at home. And that form hasn't really followed us as much this year as we would have liked. But it's the best place to play in this league by far. And I think for the fan experience, it's incredible. So if you haven't been out yet, you got to get out for sure. Three at home, three away. And then the playoffs begin, which will be wild and zany. We hope to see everyone down there.
