Starting point is 00:00:00 Most people are under the impression that, well, Facebook, YouTube, Google, Instagram has my customers. No, no, no. Another human already has her customers. If you have under 30,000 followers on Instagram, is it possible to make a quarter million dollars off that following? Believe it or not, it is. Hi, my name is Badros Kulian. This is Craig Ballantyne, and this is the Empire Podcast. And today, we're going to share with you the strategies for using Instagram and building a massive financial empire.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Now, I've got about 40,000 followers at the filming of this episode, and Craig's got about 12,000, yet I dare say that we make more money off of Instagram than people who have half a million to a million followers. And we know this for a fact because many of our friends come to us to see how we are doing it. So, Craig, why don't you tell us the story of Vince Del Monte and how he was able to generate a quarter million dollars in sales? Yeah, so Vince has just under 20,000 followers at this time. And he came to the Empire Mastermind meeting a few months ago and said, Craig, I need some help, you know, filling my mastermind. He is his own. And I said, Vince, you're going to do one thing. You're going to do Instagram stories that go to a sales call
Starting point is 00:01:23 to action. And he went home and within seven days, he had 19 people, I believe, sign up to sit in his mastermind at $1,500. And then from there, he had six to nine of them join his full mastermind at $18,000, giving him a total of about a quarter million dollars. And then, from there, he had six to nine of in sales through Instagram stories to a following of under 20,000 people. It is so simple, so methodical, but so simple to use Instagram stories because it's so intimate. It is absolutely, Instagram is absolutely in a golden age of connection right now and you need to take advantage of it as much as you can. Now, Beidros, you also know a little bit about growing your following and that by being connected with
Starting point is 00:02:12 other influencers. So you went from like 28,000 to 35,000 followers almost overnight with one opportunity. Yeah, yeah, I did. And so what you and I always talk about is when we're selling a product or a service, we go, who has my customers? See, most people are under the impression that, well, Facebook, YouTube, Google, Instagram has my customers. No, no, no. Another human already has her customers. So in my particular case, Andy Fersilla had my customers already, right? He's in the entrepreneurial space. He's an entrepreneur. He teaches entrepreneurs. How to grow their business, how to think with the right mindset. And of course, as I'm writing the Man Up book, I realize that I need to grow my Instagram following
Starting point is 00:02:50 so that I can sell more books when my book comes out in September. And so for me, it was really easy to realize that if Andy Fersilla has my customers, if Lewis House has my customers, if Randall Pitch has my customers, if Ed Milette has my customers, Grant Cardone and Gary Vaynerchuk, all that's the group right there that they have my customers. Sure. What do I do to add value to their life to get? them to talk about me on their social media and drive traffic from their social media to mine, right? And this is what I did. Of course, I'm a big fan of helping kids. And one thing that Andy Farsilla did is he wrote a children's book, Charlie and Otis played a win.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Well, if anybody's going to write one. Yeah. Listen, if Andy Farsilla writes a book, a children's book, you got to read it because I immediately thought, how many F bombs are in here, right? So I bought one copy first. Yeah. I bought one copy and I read through it. I thought it was an amazing book. Obviously, that's the copy we have at home. And I said, you know what? I want to help more kids. And I remember reading somewhere, Andy said, listen, everyone's writing books for adults. Yeah. No one's writing books for kids who have that pliable mind.
Starting point is 00:03:53 And they're the ones that we can influence to teach them to be winners, to teach them to be relentless when they grow up and hopefully make them into entrepreneurs and change makers of life. I like what he said. I liked it so much and I liked the book so much. I bought 250 copies of his book because there's 250 kids to go to my kid's school. I bought 250 copies of his book. And right before passing it out at my kid's school, we took a picture of me standing in front of his 250 copies of Andy's books.
Starting point is 00:04:17 And I just wrote a little message on Instagram saying, hey, just want to thank Andy Fasilla for writing this book. I bought a copy for my kids, loved it so much. I bought 250 copies for all the kids that go to my kid's school. And of course, I think within hours or days, Andy Fasilla reposted that, reached out to me and said, hey, man, I really appreciate you doing this. And I said, no, I'm the one who appreciates you writing this book. I want to help more kids become entrepreneurs in my town. and we started up in a relationship. Before long, I found myself on his podcast. Before long,
Starting point is 00:04:46 I saw that all of a sudden he's sending more traffic my way. And like you said, I went from like 30,000 followers to 40,000 followers within days because Andy was kind enough to share my story on his platform. And so everybody needs to start figuring out who has your customers and what value can you add to their life so that they feel confident in sharing your story, your vision, your mission, on their platform so that they can share their audience. Yeah, absolutely. I found the way that my Instagram has grown the fastest by being on podcasts of influencers, having them post about you.
Starting point is 00:05:18 It's very much like affiliate marketing, which is something I was very familiar with in the email fitness space. You know, someone would have my customers on their email list. I would tell them to email about my product. They'd send people over. Now, in this case, they're just recommending that their followers go and check me out. But that is one of the fastest ways for you to grow your gram. Absolutely. Now, one of the other things that you taught me about Instagram and just social marketing, social media marketing and video in general, is to show up consistently, much like you and I were raised on television shows that were on the same day, the same time, every week. Why is that important in your video marketing, whether it's Facebook lives or Instagram lives?
Starting point is 00:05:59 You know, we like consistency as humans. We like consistency so much that we want consistency and predictability in our life, which is why people go, hey, I've got a routine. Everyone's got a routine. You may have a crappy morning routine or you may have a productive morning routine, but everyone's got a routine because humans like routine. It's predictable, it's consistent. So this is why Sunday morning or Saturday morning cartoons were at a certain time on a certain channel, right? We knew that it's Saturday, 8 a.m. I know Bugs Bunny is going to be on television.
Starting point is 00:06:25 It was a given. So I got to get my cereal and get ready to start watching. That was my routine. And so it's easy enough for you to go and look at Instagram or Facebook or YouTube as a television network. look at it as a social media platform, look at it as a television network. It's your network. And your network has the right audience, the people that are interested in your product, service, message. And what consistent message can you deliver over and over again, this reliable,
Starting point is 00:06:51 that's predictable, that's consistent that gets them to want to buy your service ultimately, or your brand, or investing your thoughts, et cetera. And so start looking at your Instagram following as a television network that has shows. And of course, what we do is we constantly pump out the same types of shows over and over again to our audience. Yeah, absolutely. And so I actually put together this little seven-day formula, this seven-day schedule that someone can use if they're like, well, I don't know what to put out or how to do these stories or Instagram lives. So should I share that now? Please do. All right. So what you're going to do in most spaces, people are going to want
Starting point is 00:07:23 motivation on Monday. Monday is the motivation day. You're going to want to come at them with a hard, hey, listen, if you feel like you're on the edge, on the edge of the bubble, you feel like you should be more successful than you are now. If you feel like you're capable of so much more, here's what you need to do, and then you give them a call to action. You maybe have a motivational quote in there, but you want to get them fired up on Monday. That is your Monday show. And every single one of your stories, every single one of your lives, every single one of your posts needs to have a strong call to action.
Starting point is 00:07:52 After you've given value, you've earned the right to ask for them to take action. So that's Monday. On Tuesday, you can either do transformation Tuesday, showing a client before and after, telling a client's success story or you can do some teaching and then again you are going to ask them to take action now sometimes an instagram will reward you for this is you want to get lots of interaction so you can ask for direct messages sometimes hey send me a direct message with your question for the next time that i do one of these teaching episodes send me a comment you know make sure that you share this like this you want to get as much interaction as possible in your instagram feeds and in your
Starting point is 00:08:29 stories. On Wednesday, you might do Wednesday wisdom where again you're teaching them something. You're giving them great value. So again, you can earn the right to have a call to action. So you might teach them something about the number one tip you need to know right now for, you know, buying your first house or investing or, you know, losing fat or, you know, following a keto diet, whatever it is that you do. And then you have a call to action. Hey, if you like this tip, make sure you click the link in my bio to get the free report. Make sure you swipe up to grab your free report. Make sure that you send me a direct message. should ask me about my coaching workshops. So that's your Wednesday. Now you're into Thursday. Can I keep going here?
Starting point is 00:09:04 Go. All right, man. Now you're into Thursday. You're going to go with a what I call a throwback Thursday tip. What did I wish I knew back when I was just starting? So when I was just starting to lose weight, what did I wish I knew back then? Man, what did I wish that they told me when I first started investing in houses? What did I wish that they told me when I first started writing a book? And then you give that wisdom, that throwback wisdom. And again, Again, you ask them for call the action at the end. You say, hey, if you like that, swipe up, get this, click the link in my bio, get that, whatever it is, you're always asking because you've earned it. And then Friday it's freedom. What can you give them freedom from? Now Vince Del Monte, my client, this is where he often had his greatest sales because he was like showing people, hey, here's the freedom that you can have when you have the internet
Starting point is 00:09:53 lifestyle. You know, he's driving his Bentley, he's with his family, he's really having an amazing day. This is my Friday. And you can have a Friday like this to, you know, when you're in my mastermind, when you learn from me. And that's what we taught him in the empire. And that's what he's sharing now with his clients. So Freedom Friday, it might be freedom from, you know, being food obsessed.
Starting point is 00:10:12 It could be freedom from anything. But that is your Friday theme. And then you have the call to action. And then Saturday, I call this Status Saturday. So if you've been on a podcast, if you have a photo of you with a celebrity, anything that will elevate your status in the eyes. of your followers so that they say wow this is a person I want to be associated with and you build a little story around it you're always giving value and then you have a call
Starting point is 00:10:36 to action at the end and then finally Sunday Sunday can go two ways here one you know depending on your clientele you can say hey listen you know forget about last week it might have been rough but listen you're going to be strong you're going to have a good week or you can get really fired up hey today is the day that we need to plan ahead for the week you need to plan for all the obstacles that are coming up you need to plan for your workouts you need to plan your nutrition you need to plan plan plan for your sales so you can either do planning or you can do forgiveness forgiveness hey you know whatever happened last week don't worry about it you're going to be a okay and so i have that message in there and then actually i don't do a call to action on sunday
Starting point is 00:11:11 that's just a give and i actually just end it with hey i love you i love you and i always talk to just one person because you know what nobody's sitting around on their iPhone with a group of people it's not hey you guys it's not hey everybody it's hey you hey you what do you think of this message is it helpful, let me know. Send me a direct message. You know what, that, what you just did there, going over the seven days and exactly step by step, what kind of content you put out, like, that could easily be a $997 course. Right. So I hope our viewers, I hope our listeners see the value in that. And one thing I want to dovetail onto that, you talked about the Tuesdays, about doing the stories. Yeah. Right before I came down to the studio, I was up in my office,
Starting point is 00:11:47 and there was a stack of books on my bookshelf, and I just went, just did a little story, and it was a video story, and I just, you know, was kind of hovering over the stack of books, I said, hey, I'm curious, what are you reading right now? And then I posted it. Now, obviously, what's happening right now is people are saying, hey, I'm reading this book, I'm reading that book, oh my gosh, I see that you have this book, I'm going to go get that, et cetera. But people are replying to the stories because I asked them to.
Starting point is 00:12:10 I said, give me feedback. What are you reading? These are the five books that I just recently read. You might think that people go, well, okay, I'm reading, whatever, I'm reading Hemingway, or I'm reading Think and Grow Rich. It doesn't stop there. Then we respond with, it's either me or my team, we respond with, hey, so what kind of business do you do? What kind of business are you in if you're reading that book?
Starting point is 00:12:30 Oh, I'm a personal trainer. Oh, I'm a fat loss coach. I invest in real estate. I do finance. You do. Do you have any frustrations about your business that a business coach like me can help you with? It's just a lead in to dialogue, right? And most people forget that you can say, hey, what is your favorite soda?
Starting point is 00:12:47 If you have six soda cans sitting on your kitchen counter, take a little video of them and say, hey, what sodas are your favorite? What are you drinking right now? And post it up there. that becomes the golden thread to start the conversation on, what do you do? How can I help you? What are your biggest fears, frustrations, and desires? Have you ever thought of actually working with a coach?
Starting point is 00:13:04 Did I tell you that I'm a coach? No, by the way, this is how I can help you. And that goes, whether you have a service or a product, you're just looking for segues into that conversation. Yeah, absolutely. It helps you become such a better salesperson. It helps you understand the market. It helps you customize your communication, so you write better emails, you make better videos. Because you need to know what they're thinking about right now.
Starting point is 00:13:25 why they're choosing those books, why they're choosing that soda, why they're doing those things so that you can get into that customer's mind and have more success with them. So I absolutely love that. Now another thing that I love to do is video follow up. Now video follow up just in the direct messaging because Instagram is so great because, you know, they might send me a text message about what book they're reading. Now I can just, and this is actually even faster than texting them back, you can do a little video about you in front of your bookshelf and just say, hey,
Starting point is 00:13:55 hey, this is the book I'm reading. Great to hear from you. Tell me more about your business. And that just elevates it. It elevates it so much because now they're like, wow, this person made a direct message video for me. That is really amazing. And this is really applicable for people who are selling high-end programs and services.
Starting point is 00:14:10 I know there's a lot of people selling e-books and shirts and supplements. But I want you to start asking yourself, if I'm selling an e-book, could I sell a bundle of e-books for $9,000 or $900 instead of just $99 or $9? I bet you can. If you're selling shirts, can you sell a bundle of shirts by building that level of rapport with people? So start thinking about how, because I know everyone's thinking right now, listen, I don't have time to do one DM at a time because my product is not that expensive.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Find a way to make your product that expensive like our products and services are so that you can justify doing one-off videos. And for example, if you sell shirts, what if you do the box of the month? So every month you get a shirt, a hat, and some shorts or pants delivered to the house. That is all of a sudden is worth it because now people are paying $99 bucks a month on a recurring basis. Now you want to do a direct one-on-one video. Yeah, absolutely. So there's so many ways you can use Instagram, social media, to build that communication, get that conversation started so you can reach out and get
Starting point is 00:15:11 the sales process going. Don't just think you have to run ads. Don't just think you have to only do email marketing. There's so many ways and Instagram just has that intimate next level of communication that allows you to sell everything from $10 stuff to $10,000 stuff. Heck, we've even sold $50,000 empire memberships to our mastermind through Instagram direct messaging. It was absolutely amazing. That's true. And if you want to build your empire, and in fact, if you like the episode here on how to grow your Instagram following, why don't you take a screenshot of this episode and share it on Instagram? And of course, be sure to give us a five-star rating on iTunes and Stitcher and leave a comment and share the Empire podcast with your friends and network so that we can
Starting point is 00:15:53 impact more lives and entrepreneurs.
