Starting point is 00:00:00 Kids college tuition, whatever it is, you think you are going to have enough money, you are not going to have enough money. And then eventually you just get used to some of the finer things in life. You know, you take your kid into business class once. They're never sent in the back of the plane again, right? Ladies and gentlemen, can you smell what the rock is cooking? I can smell what he's selling. You can definitely smell what he's selling. Hey, my name is Pedroos Kulian.
Starting point is 00:00:38 This is the beautiful, handsome Deviner. Craig Ballantyne, welcome to the Empire Show. And today we're going to talk about how to turn. your followers into dollars, Dwayne the Rock Johnson style. Let's rock and roll, man. Oh, man, because what we're going to talk about today is why you must be A-B-P.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Always be promoting. Yes, that's right, that's right. So there's a big, big mistake that so many Instagram influencers, I've got some air quotes going on here, Instagram influencers are making in their business model. In fact, they don't really have a business model
Starting point is 00:01:08 because they're not making any money, and it's because they are not promoting and selling. And they think, what do they think, B? Well, here's what they think. that if I promote that I'm selling out, if I promote I'm somehow offending my audience, if I promote, then I'm, then all of a sudden they don't think I'm authentic. Right. The problem is, they're broke and they don't know how to fix it.
Starting point is 00:01:28 All the while, the Rock has, what, 67,000 or 67,000 or 167 million or 167 million followers. Right. And the man promotes the Rock Delta shoes. He promotes the Titan show that just came out that he's doing. He promotes his movie and sells his movies. He promotes the black, he promoted Black Friday this past. Thanksgiving, he promoted Black Friday, the underarmor headphones, right? The man is selling every day and you all have the nerve to just think you can just position content and somehow
Starting point is 00:01:58 you're going to accidentally make money without asking for it. The Rock is asking for money, man. And he is the biggest influencer on Instagram. If he ain't going to take your money, you ought to take the money. Right. And so here's the thing is the big, bad assumption that so many people make is that they say, well, you know, if I just post a nice picture of me and my gym bag and my shaker bottle, people are going to know that I'm a coach or that I have a program to sell. They're just going to know. They're just going to know. I don't want to have to ask them. And they're just going to go into my bio and click on the link. That's not how it works. No. You must always be promoting. So the Rock is so good. He made a video and I was like,
Starting point is 00:02:35 this is easily the worst video I've ever watched at The Rock. But was it the one with the headphones? Right, right. But he sold a ton of headphones. So he was there doing the job, doing the work. He uses social media as business media. He doesn't use social media to catch up with his friends and do all that stuff. He's using it for a purpose. He's a busy man and he knows what he's doing. So what is the big, big sales lesson here that we take, you know, aside from always being, always promoting. Listen, here's what we know about social media, especially Instagram, that if you want to make the sales, you've got to educate, you've got to entertain, and you've got to sell. And most of the people on social media right now, I'd say 99.99% of the people are doing the first two. They're educating and they're entertaining. They stop short when it's time to ask for the money, and you're doing yourself the biggest disservice ever because you're depriving your client or customer of the product or service. that they need to solve the problem, the biggest problem in their life,
Starting point is 00:03:37 and you're depriving yourself and your family from the money, the security that you could have if you only asked for the money. I think this comes from a place of being broke-minded and having a bad and negative association with money, and also a section, a select group of the people, also have this, I don't wanna lose people's validation and approval.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Fear of rejection. Fear of rejection. And so I'm not going to ask for money because someone might say that I'm, I'm, you know. Salesy. Salesy. Or that I'm greedy. It's okay to be greedy because you have a solution to a problem. Yeah, and absolutely.
Starting point is 00:04:16 And it goes back to, you know, your family is struggling. Maybe you don't have enough money for your parents. I get so many people to come to my workshop. So, like, I want to buy money. I want to, you know, pay off my parents' mortgage. Okay, well, we're going to build the sales funnel. We're going to do this. I don't want to be salesy.
Starting point is 00:04:29 As if that is a bad, bad thing. It is not because people who pay, pay attention. and those people who don't pay will not do anything with the information that you give them. And I found out this with a hard way. I paid a tough price for it. Back in like 2006, I was doing stuff for Men's Health magazine. They sent me six guys. They said, Craig, you're going to make a workout program for these guys?
Starting point is 00:04:47 I spent 40 hours making workout programs for these six guys. One of them lasted two weeks. It was a six-week challenge. They were going to be in the magazine. They were going to be these before and afters. They were getting programs for me for free. Most of them didn't make it two days, and one guy lasted two weeks. And I was like, never again.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Never again will I give all this work for free because it hurt me. Probably another contributor to the anxiety attacks I had back then overworking and not charging what I was worth, not getting that value. And we see that so often because people are afraid of that one critic out of a thousand happy people, the one critic that comes along and says something to them, right? And truth be told, man, there's a formula to everything. And when you study the rock, you kind of see the formula. When you watch what you and I do, you see the formula. And when you watch the most successful people who are actually making money using social media, you see the formula. But for those who don't have the wherewithal to look through and see it, I want to share the formula here.
Starting point is 00:05:45 The formula is 50, 25, 25. Let me explain what I mean. 50% of the time on social media, you should be educating. Whatever your key ability or skill set is, is what you should be educating on. So I always talk about leadership and scaling business. That's what I'm good at. Leading and building leaders and scaling businesses. So 50% of the time I talk about that.
Starting point is 00:06:10 The other 25% of the time I talk about things that are entertaining. I might show cookie my dog or a wacky adventure trip that I did or just go on a rant about something that'll make the people laugh. Like my car videos, like listening to music and rocking out. Right? So there's educate 50% of the time. There's entertain 25% of the time. And then the other 25% of the time actively. actively sell your product or services without being apologetic, period.
Starting point is 00:06:38 And if you do that, you will turn your followers, unless they're fake and bought, into dollars. Yeah, absolutely. And so this whole conversation came up because, you know, we were talking about The Rock, and then you were saying how most people, they look at other celebrities out there who aren't selling. And now here's the thing. If you're modeling a celebrity who makes millions of dollars from a television show, millions of dollars from endorsements, and you're watching how they sell on, or what they do on Instagram as your business model,
Starting point is 00:07:05 you have to realize that they're not the same thing at all. And so you're much better off watching The Rock, watching Badros, watching Grant Cardone, who might invert that selling a little bit. But, I mean, man, I guess... Grant Cardone, and I love Grant Cardone apiece as, man. But, man, if you could get to where he's gotten, which is 50% of the time selling,
Starting point is 00:07:24 25% of the time educating, and 25% of the time entertaining. And 100% of time entertaining. Yeah, yeah, that's true. He entertains all the way through him. God bless him. for it. But check this out. You and I was the reason this topic came up was we were having dinner and we're talking about how people are busy following the big celebrities who are making millions of dollars per episode or per movie and therefore they don't need to sell anything on their
Starting point is 00:07:46 Instagram. Well, The Rock makes the most money in movies on TV shows yet he's still selling. So don't go modeling the celebrities who aren't selling. Model the celebrity who is selling because Because at the end of the day, you don't know when that meal ticket to that movie or TV show is going to stop. And believe you to me, there's plenty of celebrities that you could buy to come to your event for $5,000 to $10,000. I'm talking about big-name celebrities. And the reason you're able to buy them because I bought them and use them in my brand for FitBody
Starting point is 00:08:17 Boot Camp. And the reason we're able to buy them for so cheap to have them speak on our stages and to endorse our products is because they thought their star was going to shine for years and years to come. And one day they fall out of style. but because they've never built a social media following or an email list or some kind of tribe, and they've never spent the time to sell to that tribe, now they're pandering for $5,000 and $10,000 gigs. It's unfortunate.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Don't be that guy or gal. Yeah, and you've talked about it. So many Empire Mastermind meetings, you're telling people, like, when they set their bar too low for their income goals, like, this is a reality. Parents are going to get sick. Yep. Like, I know, I know, and I'm, you know, in 10 years from now, I'm like, my mom's not going anywhere. where she's going to stay at home as long as I can. And if that means I have to pay 100 grand,
Starting point is 00:09:01 150 grand a year for a nurse to live in with her all the time, that's what I'm gonna do. That's it. Your kids might get sick. I hate to say that, your kids might get sick. Kids college tuition, whatever it is, you think you are gonna have enough money, you are not gonna have enough money.
Starting point is 00:09:14 And then eventually you just get used to some of the finer things in life. You take your kid into business class once, they're never sent in the back of the plane again, right? And so you're always gonna need more money. And always, it's okay to have more money, and therefore go out and help more people, sell the more people to get them to take action, right?
Starting point is 00:09:31 That's a great lesson there. And let's give our viewers and listeners one more lesson. In addition to the 50, 2525 that I just shared, where 50% of the time you're going to educate, 25% of the time you're going to entertain, 25% of the time you're going to actively sell. Like don't be apologetic, actively sell. Here's one more lesson.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Entering the conversation in your prospect's minds, right? We all have followings. Like I know, if I look on my insights on Instagram or Facebook, I'm like 85% male in the age category of like 28 to 48 years old. And most of them are in some kind of health, fitness, wellness business. So I know my avatar and I know the conversation that's happening in his head. So I'm not going to speak generally. I'm going to speak specifically.
Starting point is 00:10:15 That's why you wrote Man Up. Right? That's why the book Man Up did so well because I know my market. And so, for example, you've got to understand if your followers are women, then they have different fears, frustrations, and desires than men who are in the fitness space. And so take the time to ask your audience, do a survey on social media, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube. I get so much feedback from YouTube. Ask them, hey, what are the things that keep you awake at night in your fitness with your real estate investments, with your financial investments?
Starting point is 00:10:47 Maybe you're working with moms and they're worried about their kids. What are the things that keep you awake at night? What are the things that frustrate you? What are the things that give you pain and frustration? and what are the things that you desire? And then when you're educating and when you're selling, you can speak to those things specifically. The reason Craig and I and Grant Cardone and Ed Milet does a really good job of this
Starting point is 00:11:08 and who else have I? Actually, the rock. There's an amazing job at this. He knows who is audiences. We know who are audiences. We know their biggest fears, frustrations, and desires. And so we feed into that. And the words we use stimulate the buying desire.
Starting point is 00:11:23 And so you've got to do that too. If you're just blindly trying to sell, like as Craig said, putting your gym bag down with your protein shaker cup and the logo on it and taking the picture and hoping that that moves the needle on your supplement or your product, that's never going to happen, man. You've got to actively push the needle. So always be promoting. Always be promoting, you know. Always be entering that conversation in their mind. And when you do that, they're going to go, wow, this person knows me as well, if not better than I know myself. I know I love.
Starting point is 00:11:52 I trust this person more than ever. and when you use that 25% to actively make the call to action in your business, to make that sale, you'll make more sales than ever before you will help more people. They will finally take action, and that's what it's all about. And by the way, since we're obviously doing this and we're using the Rock, Dwayne the Rock Johnson, as an example because he does an incredible job, not only entertaining us on using social media, not only educating us, because he does a lot of great education in the ones too, where he just talks about being the hardest worker in the room,
Starting point is 00:12:21 and look, there's going to be bad days that you don't want to get out of bed, but you get out of bed and you do what you need to do anyway because that's your duty and your obligation. The man sells. But if y'all will give me a favor, when you're listening to this podcast, when you're watching this podcast, take a screenshot. If you share it on your story or timeline,
Starting point is 00:12:35 tag myself and Craig and also tag the Rock. I definitely want to give a lot of love and appreciation to the Rock because he's done a great job by leading by example and giving us an opportunity to talk about and dissect how he uses social media to make an impact, to increase his influence, and to increase his income. And there's nothing wrong with that because I have no doubt that he uses his income for good to help causes and charities that he believes in.
Starting point is 00:12:59 And I know that you and I benefit from it as well. Sure. Absolutely. All right, folks. So thanks for watching this episode of The Empire Show.
