Welcome back, everybody, to another episode of the Bellied Up Podcast.
I'm Bellied up with my buddy here, Charlie Barron's.
Rocking and rolling here, Miles.
Chuck Barron's, Charles Barron's, whatever you want to call him.
Chuck Bob.
Chuck Bob.
Chuck Bob.
We're here with Charlie, Robert Barron's, and Jared's got a voicemail start off.
All right.
Let's do the voicemail.
What are we got?
What's going on, fellas?
Hey, this is Caleb from up in East Grand Forks, Minnesota.
Just north of the Fargo area.
Green wave.
I just want to call you guys and ask what your thoughts are
on the right way to make a tatered pot hot dish.
Got a question for you on it.
That's been kind of controversial in my family,
so you've got to square things up.
Wow.
We didn't tell us the controversial question.
So is it open for interp?
Yeah.
Okay.
Charlie, you go ahead.
You want me to go ahead?
How do you make a hot dish?
All right.
So a hot dish is different from a kemp.
cassero. Okay. A lot of people don't think it is, but it is a hot dish. You're going to have your meats.
You're going to have your cheeses. You're going to have your tots. Okay. No one's putting in
vegetables into a hot dish. And if you are, we're getting into cassero territory. We're edging in there.
Okay. Hot dish. What are you saying, Miles? I think, I think you do, but put some corn in there,
maybe. Corn doesn't count. I'm saying like, corn doesn't count. I'm saying like, corn doesn't count.
as a vegetable.
Yeah, no.
Okay, all right.
Yeah.
Sure.
Corn.
Corn doesn't count.
It's, that's one of the better veggies in there.
What I'm saying is you're putting up basically anything you would put in a meat taco.
You can put in a hot dish.
Is it cream of mushroom soup?
You're putting cream of mushroom soup in a.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But mushrooms, mushroom.
That actually might be decent.
Cream of mushroom soup?
Yeah.
In a taco, I mean.
Oh, yeah.
I suppose I didn't think about it the other way.
I may not.
that could be a good taco.
Yeah, a little cream of mushroom soup,
whatever meat you want.
Have you ever done a venison hot dish?
I don't know if I ever have.
You could.
But a lot of times people just stick with some kind of hamburger situation or whatever.
I got venison hamburger, so I should try it.
Sure.
I should try it.
That could work.
Do you recommend it or?
You know, I'm not, I've made a few hot dishes,
but I'm more of a cassero situation.
But you got your starches, you got your meats,
occasional veggies.
And then on top, you're either going,
And tater tots traditionally, you could do corn flakes.
For both.
For frosted flakes.
Frosted flakes.
Jared, you shut your mouth.
Cheerios?
That actually, that's some state fair level hot dish right there.
Have you ever done some lucky charms on top?
I don't think you can go cooking those marshmals.
Well, that's what I do.
The dessert hot dish.
Dessert hot dish would be great.
That sounds great.
Oh, just stuff instead of a can of creamy mushroom soup,
just a can of Nutella.
Oh, yeah.
Peanut butter.
Peanut butter.
Maybe instead of tater tots, you do like, you know, like chunks of French toast or something like that.
Oh, yeah.
Or like whoppers or something.
Woppers.
Yeah.
That would be.
Woppers would be intense.
I don't know what a wopper is cooked.
So as a kid, I loved woppers.
I would get them when I go to the movies.
Is that a psychotic move or not?
No, that's definitely a kid move.
but I ate so many whoppers.
They made me sick ones.
Something about that.
Malt balls.
The Malt balls.
The milky malt balls started doing something with my stomach.
I like Wappers a lot.
I like them a lot, actually.
If you're going to a movie today, Miles, what candy are you getting?
Some with peanut butter in it.
A bunch of crunch.
I'm getting raisin' that.
I know you're just doing that to rage, baby.
And I'm not going to take it.
I know you're just.
doing that to rage bait.
I love Raisinette smiles.
You do not.
I love raising nets.
No, you don't.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's a mix between a naughty
and a healthy snack, you know.
I love raisinettes and a nice tap water.
If I'm feeling really frisky miles,
I might order a decaf coffee.
Yeah.
No, they're like seeing a Spider-Man movie.
be with a nice decaf coffee ready to go.
Just makes those raisinets melt in your mouth a little bit faster.
He likes the tap water that's got just a hint of Powerade flavor for the
without a sheet.
Feels like you're cheating the system there, doesn't it?
Yeah, sometimes I'll even just do a little squirt of Power Rate.
I won't put in my cup because I'm not stealing,
but I'll just juice up the lines just for that water.
Sometimes I'll go half-water, half-bubly water if the bubbly water is free, Miles.
But, you know, there's only so much space in those free plastic cups.
But, yeah, I kind of want to go to a movie now.
So tap water, decath, the race of that.
And then when he gets popcorn, he doesn't get any butter or soft on.
Just plain popcorn.
I want to taste the field, Miles.
I want to taste the vintage of that corn of pop.
Yeah.
sometimes you guys sometimes if I'm at home by myself
instead of going for the corn pops which just have too much
sugar for me I will just get actual popcorn
put it in a bowl and then put some tap water in there mix it around
and that's a nice breakfast and start the day
you get that decap coffee going anyways but we're talking about
hot dish here and a sweet hot dish
sounds like something
that you can throw some
a whop dessert hot dish
I think that's just a pie
at this point
no but I like the idea
of you know
you got your
you know you're some sort of
paste with
because you can put like
you can put meat in there
yeah
you could put breakfast sausage in there
sure
almost more of a breakfast
hot dish
which ends up being
somewhat of an egg bag
bag
And here's the deal, guys, with all of this, you know, if you're exploring what is right and what is wrong, nothing is right and nothing is wrong when it comes to dishes that are hot.
You can put whatever you want in there.
And I know there was some dispute in your family about the constitution of a hot dish.
And it's just whatever trips your pony, okay?
Or whatever you got in the fridge.
Yeah, and everything, what do they call it in the fridge?
everything but the kitchen sink hot dish
you know
yeah yeah
so any final thoughts on the
hottest dish I think you nailed it
Charlie I think that was good
hey how about after this you and I go see a movie
does that sound
suck down a decaf coffee
oh god
we'll take two decas
oh hey now I got to watch my
cholesterol levels
okay
so
yeah yeah I've read some
articles about decaf coffee miles it's it's you know
moderation in all things miles you need to stop reading articles
moderation in all things take away your articles app
that decaf that decaf will sneak up on you and before you know it
you're making some life changes triglycerides with too much
decaf miles
all right let's take some collars all right charlie you know mid-September
yeah i mean it's like that song
wake me up when mid-September ends and everyone knows that mid-September
farm equipment is back on the Midwest roads and every driver gets the same surprise test
can you be patient behind a tractor for four minutes and then you know there's going to be
someone it's essentially Midwest fear factor it is it is and biggest fear is getting stuck behind
a tractor most people can and then there's always that one
Pick up truck treating the double yellow line like it is merely a suggestion.
Just a hot doger.
Combines and tractors move slowly.
Take wide turns.
It can block visibility.
Trying to pass without a clear view can cause a serious head-on or intersection crash.
So if another driver's impatient leaves you hurt, you got to call Nicolay law this mid-September.
Give them a call 1855, Nicolay.
Hi, Bryce.
This is Miles and Charlie from the Bellied Up podcast.
How are we doing?
Hey, Miles.
What's up?
Not much.
What's up with you?
Not a whole lot.
I was just,
just listening to you guys earlier.
Where are you guys at today?
We're at Charlie's cabin because we couldn't get a bar lined up because we
didn't,
we forgot.
We didn't do a good job.
Bryce.
We did a bad job.
So, Bryce,
it's our bad.
Is that Charlie?
Yeah,
he didn't want to say it.
He didn't want to say it.
No,
It's a longer story, Bryce, that I'm only partially to blame.
But listen, we heard you got scammed by a massage place.
Yeah, I don't know if I want to call it.
The more I thought about it after I left that voicemail, I was definitely at fault a little bit.
And I wanted to get, because I've gotten mixed, when I tell the story to my friends,
I've gotten mixed reviews.
and I wanted to present you guys the case,
just see if you would be the jury.
Are you presenting one side or are you giving us facts?
I'll give you facts.
Okay.
It's really,
it's a pretty,
it's a pretty straightforward story here.
So it's a spa.
I don't usually,
I'm not one,
like I'm,
I'm not a regular to go get a back massage,
but I'm like,
you know,
getting old and my back is starting to hurt.
and I had gotten a gift card.
It was like 150 bucks to whatever it is.
And so I set up the appointment.
And then this is where I'm at fault.
I totally forgot about it.
And I went to a baseball game.
Well, so I no-call no show.
They, I called them the next day.
They charged my card for the 150.
And I was like, hey, I have.
I have a $150 gift card I was going to use.
And they're like, well, you can't use that.
You can come back for another massage and we'll honor that gift card.
But you can't use it for the 150 that you owe us right now.
And I'm like, well, I have a $150 credit.
Can I just use that for the $150 that I owe?
And then what really ticked me off is that she,
whoever I talked to on the phone, pretty much laughed in my face.
It was like, no, that's ridiculous.
You can't do that.
And I'm like, well, I have the credit.
And so now I don't want to go back because I have a bad fit, you know.
And so I, what do you guys think about that?
Is that on me?
Like, should they honor that?
I think they should honor that.
I mean, I think that any reasonable person would go like, oh, we get it.
You are only coming here because of the gift card.
Now, on the other hand, think about how many Joe blows they see like you coming through
not showing up to stuff.
If they were handing out refunds left and right, they wouldn't have any money.
He's not asking for a refund.
He's asking to use his gift card.
They already have the money from the gift cards.
So why would they honor it?
But he comes in.
So now they're in for $300 for him and they're feeling good.
No, he comes in.
He gives him the gift card, says take the charge off the credit card, just use the gift card.
That should be fine.
right it should it should but i'm just trying to you know put yourself in their shoes
there's a lot of people know show in their stuff you know imagine imagine if you sold out an
arena and then everyone was like oh fuck i went to a baseball game instead are you going to give them
all refunds well if i had already taken their money to go to the thing for free no showed your
show you would just give all the money back knowing they admit that they went to a baseball game instead
Yeah. Did I get the money?
So you know, if you guys now email Charlie and say you decided to go to a baseball game instead,
they'll give you a refund.
No, no, no, no. You're talking about potatoes. We're talking about tomatoes. We're talking about tomatoes over here.
The difference is the man has $150 sitting on a plastic car.
Which is like a half of Charlie Barron's ticket.
Oh, if you buy them on the resale market miles, it's not.
know how you're supposed to buy them.
If you're having trouble buying tickets,
so guys, if you just like decide to go, you know,
you decide to go catch a movie instead of going to Charlie Barron show,
just hit him up.
They'll give you a refund.
That's not what we're arguing about here, Miles.
The man has $150 on a piece of petroleum plastic that's already been paid.
They should accept that is the money and cancel the credit card payment.
Then they're square.
They didn't have to do any money.
and they got $150.
They already have the $150.
Yeah, but they don't because the transaction with the $150 is in exchange for their services of doing
a little bit of that, you know?
They never did a little bit of that and they got $150 now.
They were ready to do a little bit of that, but he decided to go to a baseball game instead.
Understood.
But they should be able to honor the fact that he comes in with his piece of plastic.
And then they say, okay, we did no work.
We got $150.
we're on top.
And they'd be on top either way because that's how you give a massage.
But the point is, is that they should honor it.
And that is what's right.
All right.
Well, then you should hire people who decide to do something else on your shows.
What my shows?
I don't give out gift certificates for my shows.
Okay.
Oftentimes I give out free tickets.
Okay.
All right.
So I buy for Jared's birthday, I buy him a ticket to Charlie Barron's show.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
This is hypothetical.
I would never, I would never do that in real life.
I would never ruin your birthday like that, Jared.
All right.
All right.
All right.
All right.
Let's dial back.
Okay.
Let's dial back.
Because it's,
it's the best comedy show you've ever seen this side of the Mississippi.
Okay.
Maybe not that side, but definitely this side.
Okay.
Between the Mississippi and like Lake Michigan, for sure.
Okay.
You understand what I'm saying here.
right? You're just, you're just sitting here playing the devil's advocate, aren't you?
Isn't that what you think he's doing, Bryce?
I just, I, it sounds like it. I don't, I don't know. I mean, my, my thing with the, the gift card is like,
I would never do this, but theoretically speaking, I have a $150 credit. I could stand outside their
store. Someone could walk in, getting ready to take, you know, get their massage and be like,
hey, you're about to pay 150.
I'll sell you this gift card for $125.
And then at least I get some of my money back.
That's not a bad idea.
That's a great idea.
Skelping gift card.
I don't know if that's a legal.
I mean, I got it as a gift.
It's in my name.
So I don't know if it would.
That's what I do when Charlie gives me free tickets to his shows.
I got two tickets here.
Two tickets.
Are you coming to St. Louis, Charlie?
Anywhere near here?
St. Louis.
We did St. Louis about a year and a half ago.
So we're probably, oh, yeah, we are doing St. Louis.
We're doing St. Louis.
And then, yeah.
And then a couple of spots.
They're not on the website yet.
Oh, okay.
But we did just book it.
I think it'll be 2027.
It's a trust me situation.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And look, I think that's actually, though, you're really on to something.
You just stand out there and you tell the person that you're going to buy their massage today.
All right.
And try to say that in not a creepy way.
That's actually, I would have never thought of that.
It's a good idea, though.
And then you're going to get the cops called on you because you're soliciting and loitering or whatever it is.
And it's going to be a whole thing.
You're going to be on the news.
It'll be Wisconsin.
man tries to scalp gift cards to a massage parlor.
Oh, he's St. Louis, man.
St. Louis, man.
Well, yeah, you had a little, grew up in Wisconsin, but live in St. Louis now.
That all being said, I do think that they should honor the gift card.
I think after all that, you don't need to spike my blood pressure here, Miles, just because you want to be a little, a little contrarian.
That's what spikes my blood pressure is getting your blood.
blood pressure up. I like it.
No, I think that they definitely should.
I mean, it's like,
they got their 150 bucks
for me regardless, you know?
I mean,
it sounds, this is such a cliche thing to say. It's like,
it's really not about the money. It's just the principle of it.
And I'm just like,
I have the gift card. I never would have given you business in the first
place, but I got it as a gift.
just like honor it but you know it is what it is it this it happened a while ago now so
i suppose i'm over it that would that would really chap my chicken though if that happened to me
tell you that right now wouldn't that grind your goat miles i mean i'd probably just get over it
really yeah oh okay money bags over here would get over it i went to i went to
I went to a baseball game instead, you know?
How's your back?
That is the other, my back.
I mean, it's not great, Charlie.
It's, it's really not.
But I, I mean, I'm only 29.
So I feel like this is as good as it's going to get.
What happened?
I don't know.
I mean, like, I played sports when I was young,
but I don't really anymore other than golf.
and like pretty much just golf.
I guess I'm sort of tall, so that's, that's,
tall people tend to have more back issues, but, you know,
how tall of a glass of milk are you?
So I, 6.3, maybe, 6.2.
So it's not like obnoxiously tall.
Yeah, no, you're 2% milk over there.
and are you stretching every night?
No, I'm not.
Okay.
Where on your back does it hurt?
Lower back, upper back?
It's a little bit, it can vary day to day.
The lower back is the one that just, when it is the lower back,
that's the one where it's just like, man, I can't even,
it hurts to walk and I'm just walking around with a grandpa.
are you are you an in shape human being i would say so i mean i've been i mean i'm i wouldn't say that i'm
i'd say i'm like average yeah are you stretching your hips um the hip flexors that's a good
that's a good call i used to i haven't in a while yeah just got to stretch them all don't just
stretch the hip flexer stretch your glutes stretch your hamstrings set your quad such your
hip flexors.
Yeah.
Do you have any good glute exercises for me?
All you got to do is sit on the ground, put your one knee up in the air, take your other foot,
your ankle, put it on top of your knee, and then just lean forward and you stretch out your
glute.
Stretch out the glute that stretches out.
The hammies.
Another thing is you can sit on the floor with your leg straight and then move your ass and
walk with your ass.
You want me to show you?
Yeah.
Here, I'll show you.
See?
All right, let's see you.
You just go like this.
Okay, you can't really see, but I'll show Miles.
So Miles, I'm going straight here.
This is great for the viewers.
Great for the podcast, straight legs.
And then I'm walking with my ass.
Walking with my ass.
That's supposed to stretch?
No, it's good for your ass.
Strengthens.
We're talking about ass strength right now, Miles.
Ass strength.
It's probably more your hamstrings at strengthening.
Wow.
Because I used to take old people that I needed to work their hands.
When I was a personal trainer at Anytime Fitness for nine months in college.
Oh, hang on here, Bryce.
I forgot we have an exercise scientist here.
And why am I giving them?
You put them in a desk chair.
Yeah.
And then you just have them pull themselves forward with their heels.
Okay.
Say that again.
Say that again.
You just sit them in a chair and then they just walk with their heels and pull themselves forward and it gets your hamstrings.
Okay.
All right.
Do you hear that?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like that.
You could have a muscle imbalance as well.
Like maybe your quads and hip flexors are stronger and your hamstrings are,
and that's what's causing pressure and pulling.
Or it might just be that your pecks are naturally stronger than your back muscles.
So then it pulls everything forward like this.
I kind of tend to have that issue and I end up slouching.
Whereas when you work out your back, it gets your posture better, lines everything up.
you know, it could be a whole host of stuff.
Yeah, I appreciate that.
I do have to apologize, like, as you were going over all that,
I'm like, this, this call has,
compared to the guys who are calling in, like, hitting on moms at Pilates or whatever,
this is the most boring call.
Like, we're talking about stretching hamstrings.
Oh, dude.
So I would like to apologize.
It takes all kinds of kinds to round out a podcast.
But actually.
you bring up Timmy Tango and I think Timmy.
I bet he doesn't have back problems because he's going to so much yoga.
See, that's what I'm saying.
Timmy Tango's on to something.
Take that $150.
Sell it for 125.
Take that 125.
Go get yourself a Pilates class or a yoga class and stretch it out.
Are you a single guy?
No, I'm not.
Well, take your wife with you, okay?
and keep your eyes on her the entire time.
What's, uh,
what's,
doesn't Timmy Tangoes have a,
a rival now?
Josh.
Josh.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was going to say,
I'm not trying to get in the middle of that.
And this isn't out.
This isn't out yet,
but dude,
there was a homeschool kid that called in who idolizes Timmy Tango.
And it is,
it's getting away from us,
honestly.
Yeah.
Timmy Tango,
that's,
his influence is far beyond this.
podcast now. It's getting away from us. That's not not a good sign for the society of our youth.
No. This homeschool. Our homeschool guy is, he's hell bent on going and hitting chicks at the gym because of
Timmy Tango. No. I know. We told him that's not a good idea. Timmy Tango is doing a completely
different thing. He is given attention to those who want it. And,
this guy's just going to the gym and it's different.
To be fair, if you're, if you're homeschool and nothing against homeschooling,
but I feel like they, um, cousins might not.
Yeah.
I don't know.
Just they, they're not out in society as much.
They have less, I don't know, boundaries.
And if they're here in Timmy Tangle on a podcast, they think that's the norm to just,
go out and start. I know when I think you're starting to realize what we're starting to realize
that we got to be careful how much how much we're platforming timmy tango. Yeah. And if there was a way
to block this podcast from the homeschool community, I probably would. Right. There's nuance that the
homeschoolers aren't quite getting, you know, with the tangs. But no, I see, you're hard on yourself
about the call. You said it was boring. But there's a lot of people out there that have the
same back pain that you got. And the same gift card pain.
Bryce, I think your move is simple. How can people get in touch with you if they'd like to purchase
this gift card? They can text me, call me, email, whatever. Okay, well, we'll do this.
Text, DM us. DM us if you'd like Bryce's info. And hopefully Jared will see that DM.
and we'll get you that gift card.
What are you selling it for?
100 or 125 there,
you already said 100.
100, of course.
Thank you for listening, Miles.
And there you have it.
Unbelievable.
There you have it.
It's unbelievable.
The buy seller trade at the belly.
This is our first gift card that we've had to buy a seller trade.
And does your wife like doing yoga there, Bryce?
Not that I know of.
No, I don't think she's ever been.
Well, you know what they say about new experiences and couples, right?
No.
What do they say?
It's like garlic and shellfish, dark chocolate.
It's an aphrodisi.
So, uh, yoga is an aphrodisi.
I'm saying new experiences in our napherdegis.
Yeah, you're not listening, Miles.
God.
Thank you for listening to that, Jared.
So I knew he wasn't listening.
Yeah.
you see what I have to deal with over here.
Freaking A.
Yeah.
I listen every Thursday, man.
Bryce is listening.
God, someone's listening.
It's nice to know we're not just talking to ourselves on this podcast, right, Miles?
No, you guys are the best.
Charlie, did you, quick question for you?
Because I might be misremembering.
Were you the commencement speaker at UW?
Wisconsin a couple of years back.
Why, yes, I was, Bryce.
That?
All right.
Yes, I was.
That's where I was, uh, that's where I first met you.
I was up there somewhere in the stands.
So you were at the commencement speech.
I was.
How did it play in the room, by the way?
How to play in the room.
Oh, I don't remember.
It was, it wasn't my, it wasn't my graduation.
I was,
you're not listening, Bryce.
This is a problem with society.
No one's listening to each other.
Does anyone listen at a graduation speech though?
No, 100% dude, when I did my commencement speech at my college, not to brag.
People were asking me if I was nervous and I said, do you remember what was said at your commencement speech when you graduated college and every single person said no?
And so I knew there was no pressure because no one would ever remember it.
Well, not with that attitude, Miles.
I think the only way you ever
I mean if someone remembers it
it probably went poorly
it was probably like you fell on your face
it's like a wedding speech
you know
like an offensive lineman when they screw up
you only notice when they screw up
you 100%
that's true yeah yeah
well where was that
my house is that North Dakota state
oh it's in Morad Minnesota you know
over at MSUM
all right
right on yeah i mean it was d2 so it was kind of like uh charlie's you know little brother type of
speech you know i didn't want to say it i don't want to say it but i was winter commencement
oh yikes wufufta because all the other speakers were on vacation in florida yeah
yikes pretty much that i didn't know that about that makes so much sense i was like god why would
they pick him you know
And I just couldn't rack my brain.
But that makes a lot of sense.
Winner.
Oh, you're winner.
Oh, man.
You know what, Miles?
Why did you post that online if it was the winner commencement speech, Charlie?
Because I made a joke about it, which did land well in the room.
I was there.
Do you remember that joke, Bryce?
No, I don't.
I can't say it.
Fair enough.
But this is nice because it reminds me that I can just do a bunch of old jokes at my shows
because no one will remember it.
anyway. So it's not all loss. Well, Bryce, you got anything else on your on the dome here,
my guy? Anything else on the, I mean, really, not really. The, the only thing, Charlie, no, I can't.
Go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead. Go it. Bryce. So here's, so I told you where I was and I, you guys are awesome.
I love you guys.
But I've got a friend.
I've got a friend who is the biggest Charlie Barron's fan.
And I was like,
maybe I could get him on the line to say hi.
But I also don't want to come across too strong.
Dial man,
Bryce.
Dial man.
What's his name?
All right.
His name's Patrick.
He's at work.
Let's see if he,
uh,
let's see if he answers.
Let's give old Patrick a call.
All right.
Charlie Miles, you guys there?
Yeah.
We're here.
All right.
I've got super fan Patrick with us.
Patrick.
Charlie and Miles, are we bellying up at the bar?
We are belling up to the bar there, my guy.
Where are you at?
I am currently at my job, but I took a quick break just to talk to you, fellas.
Well, that's slicker than snod on Northern Pike, Patrick.
Where are you working at these days?
Oh, you know, I work at a warehouse.
they do aerations for golf courses to keep the Midwest grass green and true, baby.
There you go.
Out here, doing the Lord's work.
He sounds like a company man.
He is a company man.
Stay in for that gold watch there.
That's nice.
Well-air-rated golf courses in the Midwest.
So, Patrick, what's your position over there?
You know, I'm just a warehouse employee, a blue-collar worker.
but true western as as you boys would uh would like hell yeah we we are raising our glass to you right now
cheers cheers my fellow friends yes and i what do you have to do yet at the work today at work today
you got a few more hours left or no we got a few more hours but we're hoping to uh do my own
podcast actually later tonight. So it should be fun. Oh yeah. Patrick's got his
shout it up. Patrick, shout it out. It's called what's wrong with him podcast. We talk about
relationship scenarios and how messed up they could be. And what would we do in those situations?
Oh, that's great. I like that. Well, let's, hey, give us one of your scenarios. Charlie and I
will discuss it with you like we're on your podcast right now. Yeah. Okay. So one of our
scenarios is, oh, it's mainly
baby mama drama. I don't know if you guys
ever deal with baby mama drama.
Let's throw it at us.
So
let's say
your
let's say your wife
or significant other
re-bys your ring
and gets it for a
cheaper price
but doesn't tell you about it.
you let's say you engaged and gave her a ring that was more expensive right and then you guys you
guys and then she goes back and takes it back what are you guys doing well did she take it back get
a better price and and come up with the same ring no different ring different style different
everything but it's cheaper well that's a girl i'm marrying right there are you kidding me oh my
guy. What's she doing with the rest of that money?
She bought herself her own purse.
Ah, that's questionable. That's questionable.
See, that's the dilemma there. She bought herself the own purse.
Wow. I think that's fine, though.
I mean, yeah, I guess you don't have to buy the purse. I mean, this is a frugally intelligent
gal.
Because in my mind, the wedding ring, the money spent on that is gone forever, whether or not
it shows up as a purse or a ring. Who cares?
That's true. And bonus points.
if she pawned it, did she pawned it or just take it back to the store?
I don't know that scenario, but that very well, but I was just given a suggestion.
That's a win right there.
I mean, any way you shake that cat, that's a win.
Because, I mean, what, did you actually get?
Where'd they get at Zales?
I'm assuming some jewelry shop, yeah.
Probably sales because everyone's going there.
It's a great place.
It's a great place to return your ring, get it for cheaper,
or also buy a watch for a employee who's leaving your company.
They do engravings as well.
They'll write watch for deer on the back of a watch.
No problem.
Yeah.
What are you guys?
What are your boys drinking right now?
I'm just curious.
Jared,
we know that Charlie's going to finally quit the podcast when he's like,
hey, guys,
I was at Zales this week.
Oh, shit.
Here we go.
I guess this is the last episode.
Do you not want to watch that says,
I'm going to watch.
You're going to watch.
It says replace your air filters.
It's going to lose all of its value.
You're not going to be able resell that one.
No.
Yeah, if this guy really wanted to keep the ring, he would have engraved it.
So.
Hey, did you guys talk about how my friend Bryce here got roads from the spa?
Yeah.
Yeah.
He did.
And Miles was defending it, Patrick.
I, I, I, have yet to hear the story.
You know, he's a.
close friend, but he wanted to save the story for the podcast.
Oh, right.
People heard the story. It's not that good of a story.
Well, I don't know. It's not a bad story. He blew it up in our, he,
blew it up in the group chat, right? Yeah. And he put and he said, I was going to put
it on the podcast. So now I got to hear it. Well, I mean, do we want to make them tune in?
Yeah, tune into the podcast, Patrick. You know what? I might have to. Yeah, because there
I do watch it every week anyway.
So, yeah, you're going to hear it.
You're going to, we don't want to bore you by making you listen to it twice, you know.
Yeah, you're not, you're not wrong.
Yeah.
So what's the name of your podcast?
It's called What's Wrong with Him?
Podcasts.
We're mainly on Facebook right now, but we're trying to get on YouTube and have more episodes
up on Spotify as well.
Okay.
You know, you can just be on YouTube, right?
You can just upload that.
Yeah, I totally agree with you fellas, but, uh,
right now we're just, we're working out the kinks.
It's in the beginning stages.
Yeah, that's good.
So here's the thing, dude.
It's just posted anyways.
I,
the first episodes of this podcast,
you bet you're radio podcast.
I mean,
we worked out kinks for like 100 episodes.
We're still working out.
If you wait until you get the kinks ironed out,
you're never going to get it on YouTube.
You're not wrong.
Just start posting it.
Who cares?
We're all going to die anyways.
Life's just about constantly.
I will appreciate the vice, fellas.
Yeah.
Life's just about constantly disappointing your parents until one day they die and then you
die.
And that's it.
No, I'm going to put that on the back of a watch.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You're going to have to get your real big watch.
I do have one, two, I do have two questions, one question for you boys.
Okay.
Do you guys consider St. Louis being a Midwest city?
Absolutely.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
For sure.
Okay.
Yeah.
It's got that southern influence, but no, Missouri's in the, they're in the bucket.
We can't be losing, we, we've said before, we can't be losing states here.
We don't have that many people to begin with.
Yeah.
You know?
Who have you recently nominated as a Midwest state?
Didn't you guys say Oklahoma's one recently?
Yeah.
I fucking let them in.
Yeah.
Flat part of Colorado.
Yeah.
Flat part of Montana.
Flat part of Canada can even be in if they won.
We let New Zealand.
So we only got the parts of states.
Well, flat parts.
Flat parts.
We'd love to take the mountains, but we don't, you know.
It's just not going to give it up.
Yeah.
Yeah, they don't give it up.
We got Alaska to Vermont, maybe.
Do we do a Vermont?
I'm going to be honest with you, the more we do it,
there's not been an application that's been denied, I don't think.
Yeah, we're pretty light on the pen over here.
We are like the, like, shittiest state school that you can find.
if you have a transcript
we'll let you in
okay
yeah all right
there's that old guy who thought
that or not the old guy
the dude from Alabama
who thought Michigan wasn't the Midwest
I was like that's as Midwest as a Gets
I know but down there in Alabama
you think it's just part of Canada
so which also
is part of the Midwest
what was you guys
you fellows are not wrong hey fellas
I do have to get back to work, but I appreciate the phone call.
And I will be definitely listening, bellying up to the bar, listen to the podcast.
Well, thank you.
All right, Patrick.
You'll be good.
And Bryce, thanks for connecting us with Patrick.
And you guys both watch for deer, okay?
Yes, sir.
All right.
Thanks, guys.
Bye bye-bye now.
Ah, well.
A couple of good, good guys.
Miles.
All right.
Well, should we take another call?
Okay.
Miles,
should we take another caller?
You know, it's not that hard to know what I'm about to say, Miles.
You can just, you can try one more time.
Well, Miles, should we do another caller?
And just have visual of slapping you in the testy with my mic.
This is Seth and Morgan from Rockford.
Seth and Morgan from Rockford.
We got two birds, one stone here, Charlie.
Morgan's on the line as well.
We got a couple calls.
calling in.
You guys belly on up to the bar.
Tell us what's on your mind.
Not much.
I think we call them and left their voicemail saying we're just a very Midwestern couple.
We're recently engaged.
Congratulations.
Well, how does this very Midwestern couple get engaged?
What was that like?
So I grew up on a dairy farm.
Nice.
Great start.
and you want to tell it?
Tell what?
How you got engaged?
Yeah, that's, you know, that's fair.
You guys are already hidden all the Midwest couple tropes.
Oh, no, you tell the story, hon.
Oh, no, you tell it so much better.
What?
Oh, no, you.
What story?
You do it.
Okay.
If you insist.
Well, we were on the farm, actually, and she loves sunsets.
So we just had the, the background of the sky and some cows.
and some cows.
Wow.
That is so romantic.
You know, some people, some Californians
would pay top dollar
for that authentic Midwest experience.
And you guys got it at a deal.
We did.
It was free.
Free.
Yes.
That's wonderful.
And what did you say when you got down on the knee?
Oh, geez.
That's what you said.
Perfect.
This is the moment.
Oh, geez. And she's like, oh, yeah. She's like, oh, yeah, you betcha. And then you rode a heifer off into the sunset. Yeah, you said, I want to kick the bucket with you. It's a little dairy joke, Miles.
It must have just been right there and listening, huh? It sounds like you guys were just right there listening to the whole thing.
We were. We saw the video, yeah. I figured it's already outlying.
So when are you guys getting married?
Where are you getting married?
Up, uh, was a little bit outside of Milwaukee.
It's called the Bowery Barn.
Oh, the Bowery Barn.
Yeah, you know it.
I've heard of it.
Yeah.
Yeah, we're getting married in July at 2028.
Oh, nice.
Holy shit.
That'll be, uh, that's a two-year deal right there, huh?
Yeah.
Saving up money.
Those things are expensive.
I tell you.
They are expensive.
that's good.
Well, you know, if you can make it through a two-year engagement,
you can make it the rest of your life.
Now, are we Packers or Bears fans?
So I'm a Bears fan.
Oh, God.
Oh, boy, divided household.
Now, are the Bears going to go to Indiana?
Oh, geez, I hope not.
Yeah.
I would hope that'd stay in Chicago, too.
I'd be fine if you did Indiana.
Yeah.
A lot of material for you.
Yeah, I made Indiana Bears suck shirts.
Oh, no.
Yeah.
I trademarked IBS and everything.
We're ready to go.
It's fair.
She did get the,
what, the F, the Bears,
coozy for me, from me.
I did.
We went up to the cheese palace.
Oh, yeah.
Went up to the cheese palace.
The palace or the castle?
or they got both.
The castle, yeah.
Mars Cheese Castle, Charlie and I did a bellied up there.
We did.
We did.
A bellied up.
And were they selling the Go Packers after the Bears' coosies over there?
I think they were, yeah.
Yeah.
We got a quality bottle of Barron's old-fashioned brandy, too.
That's good.
Yeah, that'll be...
Are you guys a plant for Charlie or what's going on?
What do you mean, Miles?
They're not a plant.
Are they your friends?
No, just there were two.
Three strong roots, Midwest roots, Miles.
Now, when you guys get married, you want to make sure that you tie the knot like your favorite muskular, okay?
I'm sure to do that.
I won't tell anyone's any fishing spots until we get married.
See, now you know.
Yeah, that's it.
You tell her your fishing spots, she might leave you before them wedding.
Right.
You got to hold on to that.
She got everything she wanted from you.
Yep.
You guys are dairy farmers.
You know, you don't give it away the milk for free, you know?
No, absolutely not.
No.
Yeah.
Got to buy the cow, you know.
And, yeah, so that's good.
Real good.
So, okay.
Well, let's, you know, the weddings, we got two years of prep for the wedding.
Yeah.
What's the biggest problem you guys have?
Biggest problem for the wedding or just in general.
Generally.
Because marriage is really about pointing out.
each other's flaws I've learned.
My wife's really good at it.
Really good at pointing out my flaws.
So let's get a jump on that.
What do you guys hate about each other?
Well, they don't hate nothing.
Nothing.
I just wish we could do less impulse spending.
Impulse spending.
That's a problem.
Whoa.
How many boats do you have?
How many boats do you have?
None right now.
I got to get a boat.
I just bought a truck in a bow.
You bought a truck in a what?
and a bow for hunting
nice what kind of bow
I'm gonna look it up
okay so
Morgan he's he's spending too much
is the truck and the bow a problem for you
is there other stuff he's not mentioning
no I think I spent 600 on the bow
well that's
that's a nice ball
so that means he really spent 900
900 yeah
lost the receipt too
yeah don't know what happened
I know that for the wedding we're going to try to get Culvers to cater the the cocktail
hour.
That is so Midwest of you guys.
That's great.
And don't skimp on the cheese curds now.
That's the whole point.
Come on, Charlie.
It's the whole point.
That's perfect.
Does Culver's cater?
We're going to find out.
I'm going to be asked.
We're in the research stage.
Good.
Good.
You know, you could just after you get married, you just have the limousine drive you right through the drive-thru.
And you can pick it up on your way there, you know.
Then I think what was for the late night stack, Casey's Pizza and Quick Trip Glazers.
Oh, God, you guys have these guys have it locked in.
This is the most Midwest couple I think we've ever spoken with.
That is probably true.
Well, here's the final thing.
Where are you guys going to honeymoon?
Well, I like to go up north to Wisconsin.
And, hey, your family has, what was that near O'Clair?
Yeah, probably somewhere up there.
And then her dad obviously has the dairy farm, so I could probably hunt there.
You go hunting on your honeymoon.
Yeah, I'd say.
Yeah.
I'd say it's a pretty Midwest couple, Charlie.
Did you guys, did you guys ever consider the Wisconsin Dells?
I mean, I love the Los Angeles.
We know.
Yeah, we know.
And I, well, you know, if you got a, what, what, July, so you're not going to be able to hunt.
No.
Right after there.
So maybe you pop over to the Dells.
And, uh, hit the water park.
Hit the water park.
Some nice romantic spot.
I'm thinking the Calahari or the Great Wolf Lodge.
Yeah.
You know, get the honeymoon suite and the great.
With the heart shape jacuzzi tub in there.
They do have it.
It's in the shape of a deer heart, though.
Oh, absolutely.
You know, there's some antlers hanging above, too, maybe 10.0.
Yeah.
And then to really get the mood going, you go, oh, that's a nice rack.
And then she's going to look at you, and then you're going to be like talking about the buck on the wall, you know?
Absolutely.
What do you think I was talking about?
Nothing out.
Just a buck.
Really nice buck.
Throw some medicine on.
and a cast iron skillet, too.
There you go.
Yeah.
Horny.
Some would say that buck is, Miles.
Definitely horny.
Yeah.
Well, that's real good.
Now, what kind of ring did you get her?
What was the shape?
Why don't you look that up to?
Is she not wearing it right there?
No, I left it at the farm.
Oh, geez.
Oh, geez.
A year week right now.
So, yeah, our county fairs this week.
So we get ready.
Obviously.
Yeah.
We should have known that.
That was on us.
I was about to tell you, Miles, but.
I don't like to wear it out with the cows because I don't want it to get ruined.
I don't want it to get full of anything.
They do tend to poop.
Yep.
I've seen that.
Poop on your ring does really kill the resale value, you know.
You know, I'm trying to make it as clean as possible.
That's true.
Yeah.
Yeah, you get a little less clarity after you.
Yeah.
Yeah, I really don't, I don't want to wash it a million times when I go in the fog.
No.
What are you guys doing in the fair?
What's your role?
So, uh, my sister's in 4-H still.
So she's getting ready for her 4-H fair.
Go?
Really.
For no cows.
How old's your sister?
She is 16.
Good for her.
How old are you guys?
We're both 28.
Okay.
Okay.
That's about the time.
Whoopsies.
Whoopsies, what, Miles?
Nothing.
So you're going to help her with her,
with 4H.
Is that it?
Or you got some other stuff going on?
Nope, that's about it.
What's she showing?
She's got three,
cows and two heifers.
Nice. You guys
doing the state fair or no?
She'll go down to the state fair. I'll be
getting ready for school because I'm a teacher.
Okay. Okay. Nice.
What do you teach?
Early childhood, so preschool aged.
Oh, that's nice.
You got any tips for me? My kid is
he's a little over
two years old now and he's
he's headed in that direction.
What tips he got for me?
As long as he knows the word no.
And I think you're doing pretty good.
Okay.
So that's what the bar is said?
That's what I can give you.
Okay.
Knows the word no.
He knows the word no.
I can tell you that.
He is confirmed.
Might have been his first word.
If he's my kid.
that's cool.
Are you guys hoping to have some kids?
Eventually, yeah.
Okay.
Real good.
How many do you want?
Two, three.
Couple two tree.
Couple two tree.
Nice.
Are you going to raise them Packer fans or Bear fans?
We're going to let them decide.
Okay.
Well, they're going to decide to be Packers fans.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
That's what they're going to decide.
What if they want to wear blue and orange?
Well, then they'll be hunting because there's no other reason to wear orange.
Is my hat orange right now?
No.
You were wearing an orange hat earlier.
Well, it's a ditch chickens.
It's a hunting hat.
You know, you change hats.
I've probably got 100 hats.
Yeah, hats, and you get them for free so much, and you don't want to give them away.
No.
It might be a hat shortage.
me what's it what's that he stole one of our farm hats i was like that oh you borrowed it yeah is it
one of the ones that um you know you get with a free tractor you buy the hat and you get a free
tractor no you mean when the vet had stopped by so yeah got a hat from the vet yeah what was
the vet doing how are the cows
helping administer some medicine.
Yeah.
Nice.
It's good to give the cows some medicine every now and again, Miles.
Well, Charlie, do you think that we could proclaim them as the most Midwestern couple we've seen to date?
Yes, I think absolutely we can.
You're here.
You're here to the most Midwest couple.
And we hope that your marriage goes great.
And we hope that before you go to bed at night, you look each other right in the eyes and say,
those three magic words. Watch for deer. Cheers.
Watch out for deer. Mm-hmm. Or four. Yeah. However you want to do it. Yeah.
We're excited for you guys to go and be fruitful and multiply and get yourself a deer out of season on your honeymoon.
As long as the DNR doesn't know, it's okay. They might figure it out if you put it on a podcast.
so you know let that be a lesson everyone uh you know the old fondelac silencer isn't going to work if you
let everyone know on a podcast so what does a fondleck silencer look like that boy he just bought
yeah so that's how she goes but uh no we're happy for you guys we really are okay we are you
Thank you guys.
Yeah.
Tell your folks that says hi.
Oh, we will.
And you too, all right.
Oh, we will.
All right.
All right.
Bye-bye now.
Ah, love, Miles.
What a pleasant couple.
Very pleasant.
Oh, geez.
Oh, geez.
You know, he says that about a thousand times every football season.
You want to know how I know he's ready for marriage, Charlie.
How's that?
We basically asked them what, what are the pet peeves of each other?
And she immediately said,
impulse control for him. He never brought up a pet peeve. They're going to be talking about that right now.
He's a smart man and he knows it's not about what you say. It's about stuff you don't say.
We should have asked. That's what marriage is all about. Exactly. How often can you hold your tongue and he's ready for it.
And that'll be listening to this. And she'll probably ask him about.
smart man
and we left that off the hook we did not either that or like he went to go get his laundry list
and we moved on to a different subject and he just kept it in his pocket yeah smart either way
smart all right do you want me to start the top middle or bottom of the list it's just a CBS
receipt uh well miles spent another great episode of the bellied up podcast it feels kind of
Nice. Yeah, thanks, Jared. Get in there. Okay. All right. All right. You guys are squeezing me hard.
They're giving me an old black forest bar and grilly.
The black forest rub down.
Yep. Yeah. Well, let attention my shoulders. Tip your bartender, folks. We'll see you the next one.
Bye, bye.
Okay. Hope you guys have a good one. Goodbye now.
Oodaloo.
