Hi, it's Hannah Burner and Des Bishop.
Thanks for calling the Burner Phone.
If you leave a message after the tone, we may have to make it into a podcast.
Hello, everyone, and welcome to Burner Phone.
Today's episode of Burnerfound is coming from the North of Ireland.
No, I'm only kidding.
We just, we'll talk about why we've started the episode kind of laughing at the end of why I'm doing a slightly north of Ireland accent.
But anyway, it's great to be here.
Welcome to Burn a phone.
It's going to be a crazy episode today because, well, a few things happened.
One was, I was traveling yesterday, and I kind of forgot that we were recording today,
which, by the way, it doesn't seem as irresponsible as it sounds because we're way ahead
of schedule here.
It's not like we're recording, you know, on Sunday night and the episode's going out tomorrow.
It's Wednesday morning.
I'm in Miami
and I
So I was very late
Putting up a prompt
And I also
Hannah had sent me
That screenshot that I posted on my Instagram
About like rumors from your high school
Like things that happened at your high school
And we did get some
But I couldn't put them all up
Because like
It's they're fucking dark
Like honestly like
We're going to do some
But like
there, I couldn't put something, there's a lot of death, you know, there's a lot of like
tragedy, you know? So I kind of regretted my choice, but I, I also, uh, I, I wanted to
stick to the schedule. I didn't feel like this was enough of a crisis to like delay recording
and try to get more. But this morning while I was having coffee, my morning solace,
solitude, where I have a couple of cups of coffee in a coffee shop somewhere. And,
try to write jokes.
That's my morning routine.
In that morning routine, I was going through my notes of like stuff that I've been thinking
about lately to joke about.
And one of the things in my notes was a joke about how like pre-internet, we had viral
stuff too, but it was different.
And it often was like crazy rumors about celebrities that weren't true.
Like Richard Gere having a gerbil stuck.
up his ass because he like was felching you know uh and then i was like oh that would be a good
prompt like what are the sort of like the early celebrity rumors that were bullshit but it wasn't up
long enough so i only got one message but i did get a lot of i got like messages on my my dms so
we might be getting a bit more of a me reading out things that that that people sent as well as
messages. And for me personally, I would like to start with the lighthearted thing about
rumors rather than the high school stuff. We will do the high school stuff. The dialers did
dial in. But I'm going to say that for the second half because it's like it's much more like
Netflix documentary type stuff. Honestly, man, like, well, when you think about it, it's like,
I guess it was partially my fault because I wanted to give the guy whatever Noah Wisey, the guy,
the guy on TikTok that posted the thing, I wanted to give him props.
So I posted an actual screenshot of him.
So at least people could see his Instagram and like, or sorry, his TikTok, follow him.
But when I realize it like, he does ask it in kind of a sinister way.
The incident.
Yeah.
So.
And it's understandable.
So we will cover that topic.
But I want to start lightheartedly.
First of all, Nicole, in your generation, was the Richard Gere rumor still like a thing?
It was still a thing, but I didn't know it was a, I thought that was completely real.
That is confirmed.
Are you only learning that right now?
Yes.
Are you really only learning?
No, it's fucking total bullshit.
Why is it bullshit?
Why are you defending Richard Geer?
Well, because it's just not true.
Google it.
Come on.
Well, why did that rumor even start?
Well, we'll get into other room because people say crazy shit.
But why him?
Like, what was it about him that they were like, he likes putting a gerbil in his butt?
It just came out of nowhere.
Let's see what the internet says first.
No, because people, this is like weird.
Like, a lot of these rumors are crazy.
I saw him on a plane once, and it was all I could think about.
He was sitting in first class, and I was like, whoa, it's the gerbil guy.
Because at the time, I couldn't even think of, like, what movies is this guy in?
Fucking pretty women.
You couldn't think of pretty woman?
You couldn't think of pretty woman?
I've never seen a pretty woman.
What?
What?
What?
No.
I, I, as the gen Cesar say, I can.
I can.
I can't even.
I know him from primal fear.
That's like my,
that was a good one.
That's my Oji Richard.
A really good movie.
And that was Edward Norton's
coming out.
Like, that's the movie that broke him.
Very good.
An officer and a gentleman?
Don't know that one.
one. Okay, go ahead. Um, so the story spread rapidly through word of mouth and early internet
chat rooms. That's interesting. No, it was before that. That's incorrect. It was before that.
Okay. Well, if you're informed, then let us, don't make me go to us. No, but no, no, no, no, no.
You lived it. But no, but no, but all I'm saying is that rumor started before internet chat rooms,
but go ahead. Oh, okay. A persistent rumor from the 80s and 90s claim the actor went to an emergency room to
have a small rodent removed.
Medical professionals confirm there's zero record or evidence of this ever happening.
They also note that it's biologically implausible to put a gerbil in your butt.
Which makes sense.
But I have a lot of friends in the medical field that like the amount of people that come in
with something in their butt with a crazy excuse for it.
Like someone told me recently, I think they had like a candle and then someone else.
it was like a cupcake.
Like it's always something crazy and it's a dude that's like, I fell.
A cupcake, you can just, a cupcake you can poop out.
I suppose.
But I guess like it's something to do with this suction.
Like it really gets up there.
But okay.
I would be willing to say that it's 100% true that a lot of people present.
Because I've heard numerous stories of like men present or people presenting with stuff up
their butt.
But I would also say of all.
the things that people present with in emergency room, the highest chance of a bullshit story is
what was up somebody's butt. I feel like there's an absolute fact that some of these stories
are true, but I would also say it's a higher percentage chance of it being made up because it's
quite a fun one to talk about. Yeah, because what would you even say that like if you had a candle
in your butt, it's like, well, a candle in your butt is easy. It's just like whatever. I didn't have a
fucking dildo and I was fucking.
Well, yeah, but that's the honest answer.
Like, they're saying I fell on a candle.
Oh, yeah, I fell on a candle.
Oh, like, I was trying to test.
I was trying to, I was trying to test my quad strength with, with, uh, with some danger.
So I lit a candle and saw how long I could hold my quads because I recently tore my
ACL.
I wanted to see how long I could stop this candle from going up my ass by holding my
quads.
Like, there's just no way to fall on it.
Like, is it more embarrassing to say, I put the candle in my butt, or I was crouching
over a lit candle?
Because then you're still doing some type of, like, self-arm to your balls.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Candle, it's like gay porn, like gay, gay martial art theme porn.
That is crazy.
So, yeah, but like, what, what shocks me, though, is that it's in a,
In the year of our Lord, 2026, you're only coming around to the realization that Richard
Gear did not present with a gerbil obsess.
How do you come back from that rumor?
Like, I still, I don't think he ever did because you saw him on a plane and you thought it.
Not, it's my, I'm going to make it my life's work to stop this insane rumor.
I'm not like a gearhead, though.
Like, I haven't seen a ton of his movies.
So that's why the gerbil was the first thing that came to mind was because it was the
most prominent.
Another fun fact about an officer and a gentleman, which is so, like, it's actually like embarrassing that I remember this, but when we finally got a VCR in our house in the 80s, Queens Video was our local video store.
And on the Saturday, we went down to the video shop to get our first.
So Queen's Video always did.
You get three videos.
You pay for two.
You get one for free.
And you didn't have to return until the Monday.
So you got two days rather than one.
That was the deal.
So it was always worth renting on a Saturday.
and we got the Empire Strikes Back, an officer and a gentleman, and some like kids movie for my brothers, which I cannot remember.
And it actually annoys me that I cannot remember what the third video was that we got that day.
But an officer and a gentleman was one of the first three movies that I ever rented, which is...
I am, you only get them for a day?
Is that what you said?
In a lot of places, back then, you rented?
back then, yeah, during the week, it was a one-day rental.
If I recall, maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe it was Friday to Monday.
Maybe it was Friday to Monday.
So you had to just happen to be like, okay, I have enough free time to go to Blockbuster
or whatever and pick out this thing and hopefully I have time to watch it tonight
and then I have to bring it back sometime tomorrow.
That feels so fast.
And years later, maybe in the Blockbuster days, Blockbuster came later.
Like maybe in the Blockbuster days, it was always two days.
I actually can't remember.
But, you know, but one thing I know for sure.
sure is that whatever there was a weekend deal of you get two you get three videos for the price of
two and that you had extra time that's well so did you just like barbenheimer with those two movies
because you only had them for two days no you watch them like you watch them immediately yeah like
what other option did you think we were going to watch well that's what i'm saying is like you rented
two movies and you had two days to watch them so no he rented three you rented three well but
your brother was a child yeah but we weren't watching an officer and a gentleman
I was watching Empire Strikes Back.
Totally.
But as the years went on, the deal always was family-friendly movie for my brothers, a horror for me.
I loved horror.
So I was always allowed to get a horror.
And every week when I was there, because I was allowed to walk to a video store on my own, obviously, even though I was like 10.
Every week, I would walk to the video store, I would pick out a horror, which was always rated R.
The company would call my mom and say, is this okay?
she would say yes and then I was able to get that movie that's how it went down but I was obsessed
with horror movies so they would be like your favorite movies all the all the Friday 13th's
Halloween Madman madman madman madman madman I don't think I know that one there's so many from back
then there was so many slasher movies because Friday the 13th and Halloween and uh Nightmare on elm
Street probably like maybe the three biggies oh yeah like West Craven was like huge they
were the biggest, but then there was just so many knockoffs.
And like some of them were quite, like, there was like a, there was like a,
graphic, like, like a rape scene in Madman, for example, which I should not have been
watching, you know.
So like, I was inappropriately watching some of these.
Some of them were quite gory, but I, I just got to, I, I, I love the, the jump scare,
you know, but they were, they were probably too gory for, for, for my younger eyes,
but I did have an obsession with, with horror movies.
And then like the ones that were like slightly more palatable like poltergeist and stuff.
And then for my parents it was always like murder mystery suspense.
But we always had to pick him out.
My parents very rarely came with us.
It was always us going down and like trying to pick one for my mom.
You know, like the guy at the store would like would help us.
So anyway, that was a that was the Richard gear rumor.
You haven't seen, you haven't seen.
pretty woman, which is like insane.
Yeah, I'm like really late to a lot of those classic.
I don't even know what you would call them.
Is that a rom-com?
That is the rom-com.
I haven't seen like any classic rom-coms because I, like, you, like horror movies and disturbing stuff and psychological thrillers.
So that, like, that is where if I watch a rom-com, I like don't want to be in touch with my
feelings like that. So I stay away from things that I'm like, that's going to make me feel
something I don't really want to feel right now. I'd rather just like be spooked and then like go back
to my life. So by the way, the exorcist, the omen shining. I remember the omen really
freaked me out, you know, the omen for some reason, when, when I think it's at this, a spoiler alert,
when the, the maid, the assistant, the nanny jumps out of the window. Like that was quite
disturbing for a young man to see.
Damien. Damien.
I couldn't understand how anyone named their child Damian after the omen, but I knew some
Damians, you know?
I don't know if it holds up the exorcist.
I don't know.
One thing that I think holds up is the shining, not because it's, obviously it's scary,
but it's also just so creepy, you know?
But I'll be curious to know what people think.
So there's actually a rumor.
We have an audio rumor, the Snoop one, which I don't know if I know this one.
Responding to the prompt about the things you believed before social media was a thing,
that the bluegrass cover of Snoop Dog's gin and juice was by fish.
That's just how somebody put it into line wire.
I don't know why.
And for like 15 years, I thought that was a fish cover.
and anytime somebody would talk about the band,
Fish, I'd be like,
not the deal, like, don't like the vibe.
And then finally, I don't know, one day,
like somebody was like, no, that's not them.
And I felt like an idiot.
And Nass Fish is like my favorite band ever.
And I, like, can't even believe that I thought that was them.
It doesn't sound anything like them.
And I don't know.
Whoever was on LimeWire that day was like,
let me just fuck with people.
nobody's gonna Google it.
I don't even think Google was a thing.
So, yeah, that was silly.
I didn't know this rumor.
I didn't even know that there was a cover.
Did you?
No, I didn't either.
Wow.
This is not as, I don't know if this is as much of a,
this is like, so like, I obviously ended up having lime wire,
but I was like late to lime wire and I was late to like,
downloading torrents and all these things that we used to do.
Because I remember one time I ended up at a party and this kid had all this music on his computer.
And I was like way late, but I was like, how are you getting all this stuff?
You know?
Like, I just was like such a not technical guy.
So like, I think this might have been a rumor amongst the cool kids that were in the know.
You know?
So is there one?
Is there a cover of gin and juice?
I guess there must be.
I'm not familiar with this.
Can you Google it?
Maybe.
This is not the level of, this was not the level of virality I was thinking of.
Okay.
Okay.
Have you seen the key in pill sketch when, you know, he's like, I just didn't think that the Batman was that good.
And he's like, okay.
And he's like, okay, okay, what?
Like, have an opinion.
Anyway, go ahead.
So this was legitimately a thing that with Napster and Limewire that this cover was going around that was labeled that it was performed by fish, but it was actually the gourds.
Okay.
I don't know.
Okay.
I don't know the gourds either.
I don't know the gourds.
So apparently the gourds, the gourds, you know, their clout was taken by fish.
It's no fault of the ground.
Right.
Right. But it was kind of like a, it wasn't like a proper release, I guess then.
You know, in that like, it was an unofficial cover.
I guess so, yeah.
Right. Okay. Well, that's a fun one that we learned about.
I don't think that was as known as we think, but maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe people are going to be like, oh, my God, how did you not know about that?
Well, so.
I mean, I want to hear it now, but I don't want to get in trouble for playing it on the pod.
I looked up other old celebrity rumors because I'm like, I know I know some of these.
I can't remember.
I feel like one of the biggest ones is the Marilyn Manson.
Yes, I was going to bring that up.
So that got messaged in.
Let me, let me see who messaged in about that.
Anyway, so would you believe they were talking about that recently on the Joe Rogan podcast?
That rumor was really strong that Marilyn Manson had a rib.
You're talking about the rib removed or you talk about the other one?
He has two.
The ribs.
Yeah, so the ribmer removed so he could suck his own dick.
But you know what's funny about that?
That was originally Prince.
The rumor was about Prince or Prince did that.
Can we check that actually?
Am I wrong that that was originally a Prince rumor or or or or because you know it all it all jumbles up?
Oh yeah.
So I guess that they they did.
Well, this might have been.
two separate things, but it was the same rumor about both of them.
Right.
See?
So, yeah, he was also a victim of the ribs removed.
The ribs removed rumor.
And it's funny that they're always sexual, well, often sexual, right?
So then, you know the other big rumor about Marilyn Manson was that he's the nerdy kid from
the Wonder Years?
Do you know that one?
Oh, yeah, I think I have heard that.
Yeah, and that went forever that he was the nerdy kid from the Wonder Years, which he's not.
Paul. I think Paul was that character's name. Yeah, that I feel like saying that celebrities were, I'm sure you probably got a message about this, but saying that celebrities were replaced by somebody, I feel like is a really big one. But that's kind of like been happening in the age of social media. Like, I feel like that happened to Averill Levine and, oh, I think one of my favorites is that Katie Perry is John Vanay Ramsey.
What? What?
You've never heard this.
I think it's Katie Perry, right?
This one is a good one.
I guess I should have put this one out earlier.
I feel like we're missing out on the dial.
But guys, we're going to have a prompt suggestion in a minute for next week,
but don't be afraid to suggest more celebrity rumors that got out of control.
Go ahead.
So I guess this started in like 2014, but there was a rumor that John Bonnet Ramsey's murder was a hoax
and that she is Katie Perry.
And I feel like people were like posting pictures of them side by side,
but the Avril Levine replacement one was pretty convincing.
I feel like there was maybe also one,
I don't know if this was just a meme or a rumor,
but there's something about Taylor Swift.
Yeah, I feel like there's a lot about people being replaced
or that there's somebody else.
Yeah, we even had that for Joe Biden.
Totally.
there are famous moments of people being replaced in movies, actually actors that had the role and then got replaced, like Eric Stoltz, got replaced by Michael J. Fox from Back to the Future.
Yes, that's an iconic one. And I truly can't even imagine it being anyone else. So it's like, it's so weird when that happens.
By the way, people know that I bring up back to the future a lot because that's like, that's one of the most important movies of my childhood. But you know what I, did I mention this before? Because I realized this just the last couple of times.
Luis. So in 1985, they go back to 1955, right? So I am now 10 years more than the amount of time that
they went back from from now. Like, that's fucking crazy. So like, for me to go back that amount of time,
I'm only going back to 1995. But when I think of watching, watch.
watching back to the future, the way my 10-year-old eyes felt about 1955 versus
1985, to me, it was just so old and different.
Like, is the average 10-year-old today looking at 1995 in the same way that I was seeing
1955?
Because I want to say no, but I guess they are.
I don't know because the, maybe, I mean, the technological advancement,
between 1995 and now
are so crazy.
But at the same time,
like when you watch those old movies,
they predicted that now we would have
like flying cars and stuff.
Yeah.
But if you look at the Jetsons,
right?
Did you watch the Jetsons as a kid?
A little bit,
but not a whole bunch.
I mean, there's a lot that came true.
There's a lot that didn't,
but there's a lot that came true.
Like dog walking on a treadmill,
got it.
Video phone.
Like, that's so,
normal now. It was so
to me that was the craziest thing.
You talk to somebody and see them at the same time.
You know? And like even that they had, you know, they used to have a thing where like
you put a mask on to like hide your like tired face in the morning.
It's like literally a filter.
Robot made we don't have.
Right.
But we're not miles away.
We're getting close.
We're getting close.
But they're like training them to do other shit.
Like they're not training them to like clean our house and like run errands.
They're like kicking kids in the street.
that were like not doing it
What else is the Jetsons have that we don't have?
Flying cars is obviously the biggest one
And then like a pill turning into your dinner in a microwave
We don't have that
But like are you Googling this too?
Wow, this is a real nostalgia.
Because I would like to think that visually
Is 1995 as different visually
From today to 95 as it was 85 to 55 to 55?
as it was 85 to 55,
I would like to think that a lot of the changes that happened since 1995
are more like virtual online,
and perhaps the difference doesn't look as much.
But then in saying that, like, when I see pictures of 95,
even of 9-11, like, you see 9-11 stuff,
and like, obviously, like, there's still cars look quite different.
I just don't know if a car looks as different.
A car from 55 to 85 versus 95 to now,
I don't know if the change in design is as great.
but, you know, I am 100%.
I'm open to people being like, you're in denial, you're old,
and that's just the way it is.
Well, also, oh, I was looking up like what else they did that came true.
They were using a flat screen TV, which at the time, it was just a big old TV.
They also had smart watches.
They did?
They forgot about that.
Um, and yeah, a lot of like smart home stuff.
Yes, the smart home, like 100%.
Mm-hmm.
So.
Something else that they list, which is kind of funny.
I don't know if this is like, I mean, I guess this is valid.
It does feel like a little bit of a stretch, but pill cameras.
George once swallowed a tiny diagnostic device during a checkup that traveled through his body to send back medical data, much like modern capsule endoscopy.
Okay.
So. So here's another question I have.
recently, which I asked my brother about, are some of the things that we can do today that
mirror projections that were made in sci-fi shows and things like the Jetsons?
Are they, do they exist because of the inspiration from those, that creativity, or were they
just inevitable things that we were going to find anyway?
It's hard to answer that question.
But I think that, like, are there some things that we have today that came,
from the imagination of people who thought,
wouldn't this be amazing?
Or are they just the practical,
that practical evolution of things
that we would have figured out anyway?
It's hard to know.
Interesting.
Interesting.
Interesting.
So, anyway, that was a rumor.
So the other big rumor,
which has numerous people that were, you know,
supposedly to have had this done,
including Mick Jagger,
John Bon Jo,
and I can't remember somebody else,
but which was that they had a leader of cum pumped out of their stomach.
Have you heard these rumors?
Out of their stomach, like they consumed it?
Yeah, like they consumed it and they needed to be pumped.
It was so much cum in their stomach.
This is a common rumor.
Totally.
Yeah, I haven't heard this one.
Well, you don't know that one?
Because a few people messaged me about that.
That was very much of my generation.
So because when I said it, when I said it on the Bishop Exchange, John Bishop
mentioned the name.
I've forgotten the name he said, but it was different to Mick Jagger, which somebody
had messaged me about.
He said the Mick Jagger's stomach pump story as a cassock.
But I remember that as I thought it was John Bon Jovi.
Well, actually, you know what?
Let's Google how many, how many celebrities were supposedly
supposedly had
semen
pumped from their stomach.
Obviously, this one didn't stick
like Richard Gears did.
So how many names are you getting there?
This is really funny.
So it seems like they just had a new person
every decade for this.
Because I guess the origin
was Rod Stewart.
Really?
So Rod Stewart traced the most famous version
of the rumor back to a disgruntled.
publicist he had fired in the 70s or 80s who planted the fabricated story with the press
and then he denied it in his memoir.
So his publicist started this rumor about him.
Wow.
And then it spread to different celebrities.
So they've also listed Elton John, David Bowie, Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, Lil Kim,
Alonis Morissette.
All of them were, had the same rumor spread about them.
Right.
So it's fascinating.
Uh, especially,
Because,
Like,
Why?
Because cum is particularly like, like, like fucking blocks you up.
It's so ridiculous.
But why were they, like, were they trying to spread this because they're like,
they're gay and that's why they have so much calm on their stomach?
Or is it one of those things that like celebrities drink baby blood or you type
thing?
No, I think, I think the, the rumors that spread the most were suggesting that there's secret homosexuality going on.
And listen, there's a lot of, that's another rumor, which I actually think, not that it's malicious and like, if a celebrity turned out to be gay, it would be a bad thing.
But I think it's malicious in not like, if somebody wants to come out, that's their decision.
But I think the very homophobic part of this is that there are just consistent rumors about celebrity secretly being gay, which I think perhaps sometimes turn out to be true, but sometimes they don't.
And it's just like, it just becomes such a like, oh, it's a fact with like no corroboration whatsoever other than a friend of a friend told me, blah, blah, blah, you know?
That does happen a lot.
So anyway, those are the ones that I got in in that short space of time when we, when I, when I pop this on this morning.
But I do think that if anybody wants to add on to this, please hit us up 9-1-17-5-1-2-17-58 or the WhatsApp, which actually,
I haven't been reading out as much lately because I don't know it off my heart.
But I will read it out now because we want to make sure that people can get in.
Where did I put my numbers?
I've lost my numbers.
Oh, no.
Is it back in June?
Wow, we've been doing this since June.
It's 64664-2-370-20.
If you want to hit us up on a WhatsApp, remember, leave a voice note on the WhatsApp.
Obviously, you can text me too.
as we see we read some texting.

And so let's mid-episode already,
but I found a good prompt suggestion.
I prefer having the prompt from the episode.
So it's a prompt suggestion, but also a long message.
We are not afraid to talk about mental health here on Burner Phone.
That's why we love Ruler.
And if you pay attention to the podcast,
you'll know that I had some tough times in my later.
adolescence in my early 20s, drugs, alcohol, but really, honestly, things that would be put in the
parameters of mental health issues today. And I did not have the opportunity to have gone online and
look for somebody. And by the way, I've done plenty of therapy. And I was doing therapy at that time,
particularly after I stopped drinking and using drugs. But I would have loved the ability to have gone
online and just sought somebody out. There's no point in even talking about that anymore because now
you have Rula. The other great thing about Rula is finding a therapist who actually takes your
insurance phase number two. That's more difficult. That's where a lot of online therapy platforms
fall short. In fact, many don't work with insurance at all, which means you're stuck paying
the full cost out of pocket or paying for an expensive monthly subscription. Rula does things differently.
They partnered with over 100 insurance plans making the average go-pages $15 per session. That's
real therapy from licensed professionals at a price that actually makes sense. Think about it. You
use your insurance benefits to maintain your physical health, so why wouldn't you do the same for your
mental health? They tailor the experience around you. Other platforms, they might just
throw you to the first person that's available, whether they're the right fit or not. Rula considers
your goals, preferences, and background to provide you a curated list of licensed and network
therapists who are actually aligned with what you need because they know that finding the right
therapist can make all the difference. So go to Rula.com slash burn to get started today. That's
R-U-L-A.com slash burn to get quality therapy that's covered by insurance.
And what's great about Rula is they have true end-to-end care.
Rula is committed to supporting you and staying with you every step of the way on your mental health journey
from finding the right therapist to helping you schedule appointments and monitor your progress.
Rula is there to help.
Thousands of people are already using Rula to get affordable high-quality therapy that's actually covered by insurance.

You deserve mental health care that works with you, not against your budget.
Guys, you know those pieces in your closet that you find yourself reaching for over and over again.
I know I do.
The sweater that somehow works with everything, the jeans you know will always fit right, or the bag you carry everywhere.
Well, those are the pieces that earn a permanent place in your wardrobe.
And that's exactly what Quince does so well.
They make elevated everyday essentials using premium materials like Mongolian cashmere,
organic cotton, and washable silk.
The designs are timeless, thoughtfully crafted, and made to be worn again and again.
Listen, I have not made a secret of how much I love quince, but more importantly, for all the women that are listening, Hannah, Hannah's mom, they all love quints. They wear a lot of quints. Pay attention to their posts, you'll see. A lot of quints. It's just, because you know that Hannah just loves, like, easy to throw on stuff that also can look elegant. Actually, if you're paying attention, I posted a clip just the other day on my Instagram, talking about my mom and Game of Thrones. And I'm wearing just a cool, like, cotton knit.
Button down summer top, that's a quince.
Quince also has premium stretched denim,
leather bags and footwear,
and beautiful 14-carat gold jewelry
that can be the finishing touch
that pulls an entire look together.
Everything at quince is priced 50 to 80% less than similar brands.
They work directly with ethical factories
and cut out the middlemen
so you're paying for quality, not brand markup.
And it's not just apparel, by the way.
They bring that same approach to everything they make
at quince from hotel quality bedding and bath
to kitchen essentials and thoughtfully designed
furniture. They make well-designed pieces for everyday living. Find the full pieces. You'll reach for
most at Quince. Download the Quince app for app exclusive offers or go to quince.com slash burn. Get free

Q-U-I-N-C-E.com slash burn. Hey, I just want to let you know that I got the Merlin app and my first
bird find when I was showing the app to my husband at the
park. I was like, what's that weird noise? Oh my God, I have this app. I have to show you. It was a bald eagle. So my first bird find was a bald eagle. And I also have a prompt
suggestion, kind of piggybacking off the ghost stories. I realized that a lot of this fear seems religious-based, especially when you refer to the piano player as Satan.
So I think religious trauma or experiences as a child would be a very interesting topic. I grew up Catholic,
But it was because my parents, my mom specifically was scared that my grandparents would shame her if she didn't do this.
So I'm not very religious at all and didn't have a crazy experience.
But my fiance grew up in rural Ohio and it is completely different for him.
And he was literally scared he was going to hell his whole entire childhood.
And his dad prepared him for raptures and stuff.
So I think that would be a really interesting topic.
All right.
Hope you and Nicole have a good day.
Bye, bye.
So once again, let's go light and dark tomorrow.
More celebrity, next week I should say, more celebrity rumors and just funny bits of religious trauma.
Obviously, listen, I'm going to censor the ones that are too full on, you know.
But that'll be that, that'll be a fun.
So that'll be for next week.
Keep that in mind.
By the way, while that was playing, I got an Instagram from somebody who said the
gerbil was fake, question mark.
So obviously, that rumor really persists.
because he's in something I'm watching at the moment, the agency, which is actually quite good, the agency.
So, and since we're talking about shows, I think a show that doesn't get enough attention, which I think is amazing, is Dark Matter on Apple TV. Have you watched this?
Yes, I actually was just trying to force the book on Chris for his trip. He was looking for a book to bring. I was like, bring Dark Matter because he hasn't read it yet, and it's so good.
But I have watched the show also on a plane.
but I read the book.
The author of the book, who's also involved in the show,
says that he thinks the show is better than the book.
Really?
Yeah, because I was thinking,
because I watched episode one, season two,
which is great, but, you know, like,
it's not the easy, this show is complicated, right?
And when you haven't watched it for two years,
and episode one, you're like,
oh, trying to remember who's who and different worlds and stuff.
So I was thinking, oh, I'll read,
Rather than go back and rewatch, let me read the book and sort of reacquaint myself with everybody.
But then I was listening to, I listened to Binchtown podcast.
I got a few like recap podcasts that I listen to, but Binchtown is covering Dark Matter.
And they interviewed him.
They interviewed the author.
And he said that he thinks the TV show actually was better than the book.
So. And season two is not, the book is finished.
Like, the season one covers the book as it exists.
And season two is there's no, there's no preexisting story.
So anyway, my-
I don't like when they do that.
Burnaphone recommends dark matter on Apple TV, especially if you like sci-fi.
It's, I think it's fun sci-fi.
So, um, check that out.
The author also has another really amazing book called recursion.
So would recommend that.
It's another like, ultra-
reality type
sci-fi thing.
Okay.
I know,
but if we were
going to do a book club,
do the,
do the dialers like sci-fi?
That's the big question.
Did you see that you got some shade
from the dialers about your book pick
for the next club?
They were like,
don't let,
they were like,
don't let Des pick the next book.
Don't let Deskick the next book.
It would be too intellectual.
Something like that.
No offense.
That made me laugh.
But they were like,
no offense,
y'all,
but like,
it's going to be too much for us.
It's so,
Yeah. I don't know if we're going to be able to get the bookup going. Although that episode ended up being very successful. We got some follow-ons.
In fact, I got a message like on the WhatsApp being like, I'm so sorry you hated the ending. I love the ending. You know, it is what it is. So, all right. You can tell I've been procrastinating, but let's. So the other prompt was what was the incident at your high school, right? And I think every high school kind of has these types of things.
Did you have a fun one though?
Or were they dark as well?
Yours are dark too.
You can Google.
You can Google St. Peter's College, Wexford.
Okay?
St. Peter's College, Wexford.
To be honest, I'm not going to get dark, okay?
But I just want to point out that I was Catholic educated my entire life.
And every institution, except for my university, has what you would expect attached to it.
But particularly my three.
Second, my three high schools all have major scandals.
Wow.
We won't.
I guess I forgot about that part.
I'm sorry.
Yeah.
But anyway, I, none of that, none of that is in this episode and we're not going that dark.
Save that for next week.
So let's, uh, let's see which one you pick, man.
The great, the great, the great, the great banana guy is the lighthearted one.
All right.
Let's start with that then.
Okay, so the incident at my high school was actually a boy who dressed up as a banana and ran across the football field in the banana suit, got chased, got arrested, got suspended from school.
Everyone wore yellow shirts in support of him and fed free a banana man.
we then were not allowed to wear yellow to school.
And then eventually he was interviewed in said banana suit by a reporter wearing a grape suit.
So you've probably seen that meme of the banana and the grape.
And that was the incident for my school.
We weren't allowed to wear yellow anymore.
We weren't allowed to bring bananas to school for a little bit.
and yeah, it was a very interesting time at Colonial Forge High School.
So I looked it up.
So this kid actually had a suspend.
Like they lowered the punishment.
After pressure, public pressure, they lowered the suspension.
Because I think initially they were going to try to expel them, right?
They lowered the suspension.
But then I looked up the interview.
So this guy from like local TV news, like a real TV news interview, this guy shows up in a grape suit.
and interviews the kid in the banana suit.
But it's quite funny because the kid in the banana suit,
you would think he was like a big extrovert
because he ran across the field in the banana suit.
But he really gives like one word answers to this interviewer,
and it's actually quite an awkward interview.
It's quite funny.
So anyway, this all checks out.
The only thing I can't check out for sure,
but I'm pretty sure that this is honest,
I can't verify that this person just doesn't know about the story
and is making it about them, like saying
that they were there. But I'm, I'm pretty confident that they're not doing that. But this is,
this is a, and also honestly, like, I don't know if it was as much of a meme as they think, which
makes me think that it is 100% honest that they were there. They were part of it. Because,
because they have, like, they have like information, this person that message in has information
that's like, I didn't see anywhere about, like, not being able to wear yellow and the bananas and stuff
like that. It's quite funny how schools get into that, like, school spirit shit. And then, like,
schools get so sensitive like schools can really have like no sense of humor about shit yeah they like
I feel like everybody I know what they were like banned from doing a senior prank or else they were like
you can't walk at graduation you can't go to prom like they were threatening real punishments for
senior pranks which were always like very silly it was never anything where someone was getting hurt
um yeah I want to know about this story because I think she said the beginning he also got arrested
um did that
Did he actually get arrested or was that like something you think was going around to school?
Well, look it up.
You see, it's very easy to find.
Just put in like the banana and the grape story, or the banana and the grape interview, the story.
And you can get the information.
While you're looking that up, you reminded me that St. Francis Prep where I went to school,
they used to do this insane thing, which I guess they had to stop, which was called the scavenger hunt.
And there was like a list of things that you had to do.
do or get to get points and like the ultimate points was like stealing the q 76 which was a
public city bus and like it this could have been an urban myth but the myth was that one year
this group won because they they they they stole the q 76 now this could be like an urban myth but
the scavenger hunt wasn't so it was like you had to there was like various weird shit that you
had to get and the different things had different points
But it was pretty, pretty dodgy, like, a lot of the things that you had to get.
Yeah, stealing, I mean, Grand Theft Auto, like, that's one of the things to get points.
You steal a bus.
I'm going to have to look that up, too.
But you do yours while I'm looking up my one.
Well, I can't find anything about him getting arrested, but, yeah, it does talk about his suspension and whatnot.
But, yeah, it says everything about the T-shirts and stuff.
I'm sorry, I'm looking up the...
Maybe we should have came to this earlier because now suddenly I'm like, shit, this is loaded.
Yes.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, that normal, wholesome activities.
This guy's also a musician now.
Oh, if you heard rumors about a controversial or dangerous high school scavenger hunt,
it is highly likely a case of mistaken identity or conflation with other incident news.
So maybe it was actually the whole time was a bullshit story.
Maybe I just discovered another rumor.
If anybody from that era, please verify about the famous St. Francis Prep scavenger hunt.
That was just like another rumor.
The whole Q76 thing is a rumor I've just discovered myself as bullshit.
What are you going to say?
This guy, the banana guy is a musician now.
Oh, is he well known?
Let's find out.
Support banana man.
We're learning a lot today.
We're learning a lot today.
Whoa.
If this is actually him, he has...
Banana Man is Barack Obama.
He became the president.
We're starting a new rumor.
What is it?
He has like 61,000 followers.
Oh, cool.
And is followed by a couple of comedians, including Greer Barnes.
No way.
Alex English, Reggie Conquest.
So they know about Banana Man.
If this is indeed Banana Man.
What's his name?
Leon Knight is what he goes by for his music name, but yeah, shout out.
Yeah, shout out, Banana Man.
Hey, Des.
Hey, Nicole, Caroline.
My incident at school happened when I was in high school, and I don't know.
Maybe Nicole remembers this because it was kind of viral, but.
I went to school with the girl who posted a video of her eating her own tampon.
It turned out to be fake, but she faced a lot of backlash and ultimately had to, like, switch schools.
And she never really came back to school after that.
She does work at a local breakfast joint in the same city now.
But I don't know if people would recognize her.
Good for her.
But yes, that was the incident at my school.
Fun fact, she was in my gym class.
So that was kind of crazy.
But love the pod.
Hope this makes it.
Thanks.
Bye.
Awesome.
The rare dude.
When we get a guy, it's like, what?
I would have to say, were you familiar with it?
Did this go that viral?
Were you aware?
Well, I actually was so scared when he said that that he was going to be like,
I went to high school with Nicole.
And I was like,
That's what I, when I read it, that's what I thought too.
But I think he was basically saying you're young enough to perhaps know about this.
Des, this has probably happened after you paid time of such thing.
This does sound familiar to me.
I looked it up to like see a picture of this girl and this is possibly looking familiar to me.
It seems like she may be from upstate slash western New York, which does make a lot of sense.
I'm a fellow upstater, which is why I say that.
But yeah, I wonder what would prompt you if it was fake?
Like, what would prompt you to make that?
Like, are you that desperate for virality?
I think it's just being silly.
Just being silly.
I mean.
Then she had to leave, change schools and stuff.
Well, she didn't know.
You never know the power of it.
Of eating a tampon on camera.
It is a very powerful act.
Yeah.
So, like, I got to think, I have to think that the rumors around tampons, periods,
there's a stain across so many people's lives.
Because I knew a girl in Ireland that, like,
I knew her independently,
but then separately, I knew a lot of people that went to school with her.
And the minute you mention her name,
they all mentioned the same thing
about some incident with her and her period.
And it's like, it's such, so unfair for a woman can just have some unfortunate,
like, mishap,
either like fooling around with a guy, she didn't know if she had her period or whatever the,
whatever can happen with your period, you know, or like somebody literally sees you
throw out your tampon or whatever.
And someone's like, oh my God, look how, you know, like, the fact that those things then
become such, such ridiculous rumors is like, it's terrible, really.
Well, there's so many, yeah, there's so many ways that they like find to make, like,
a vagina disgusting and, like, always blame it out.
Like, was blue waffle, like, a thing when you were a kid?
or was that like a very millennial internet thing there's just like all these like weird disgusting
vagina related things that they're like oh my god so and so had this and there was like never
a single thing about a guy's dick it was always like this girl has a fucked up vagina right right
right amen although john bishop did tell a hilarious story on the bishop exchange so john bishop broke
his leg broke his ankle yesterday but no but that's not related to this story so john bishop's wife had an
appointment with the gynecologist.
And so after she went to the gynecologist, she was going shopping because she was in London.
She was going to go shopping for some clothes.
So John was in like a place with like shitty service.
And she sent him like a load of pictures, right?
But like his service wasn't, the pictures weren't coming up.
So after she, after as far as he was concerned, she was at the gynecologist.
He just got a text that said, too baggy.
So he messaged back.
The gynecologist said that.
And then when he got better service, he got a load of pictures of like clothes, you know, her trying on clothes.

acknowledge something just in case anyone has been listening to this episode and thinking
this seems a little distracted. I'm just going to, we're not going to leave it in the edit,
but I want to point out that first of all, I was feeling in a rush.
because I had an important doctor's appointment at 2 o'clock, which I couldn't change it.
But on top of that, I got two different phone calls from the maintenance office of my building
about some issues that needed to be dealt with.
And we also had a fire alarm test that happened during our episode,
all while I was feeling pressurized for time.
So then I tried to sneak off the pot as if it was just a normal time to finish.
but I was flustered.
And then after spending five minutes trying to get on this virtual doctor's appointment and not succeeding because there was like all this like paperwork I had done.
When I ended up calling the office and being like, I can't get on the Zoom.
They were like, it's for tomorrow.
So I've just been through a lot of unnecessary stress, a lot of unnecessary stress.
So as a result, Nicole has kindly.
come back to allow us to conclude the episode and take a few more dialers in a more of a normal way
to not cheat anyone out of time, but also to not feel like, you know, we don't appreciate
you being here with us, as if somehow my stupid doctor's appointment is more important than the pot.
but since we're on the subject
can I just say
that every time you
join like a new doctor service
like why is it like
buying a house?
Why is there so
many things to sign in the United
States of America?
It's insane.
The amount of documents and permissions
do me a favor
and this is just like a consultation
this isn't even like
this is just the beginning of a process
Anyway, that's what I'm dealing with right now.
We've been doing this pot so long your hair is dry.
It is dry.
Well, I also have like wavy curly hair, so it's crunchy for a really long time.
And then when it's dry, then I can scrunch it out and then it looks dry.
But so I did that in between our records.
So I just made it look dry.
So the dial is really.
up to date with all the behind the scenes.
Anyway, let's take a couple more high school incidents before we wrap it up,
because that is actually meant to be the actual thing, you know?
So I'm calling in, hi, guys, for the TikTok prompt of the incident in our school.
And our incident was, I'm going to not say his actual name, we'll call him Bill.
Bill was a big-time drug dealer in our town,
and I lived in like a very nice, you know, little bubbly town.
And then he got into a, he got his friend to get into a massive fight with someone off of the school
where, like, five or 16s had to go break it up, the video were around.
It was really crazy because the guy owed him money, and Bill owed, like,
actual big times south-side Chicago drug dealers money.
And then, like, a week later, he just disappeared.
We were, like, sophomores in high school, he just disappeared.
No one knew what he was, not one friend, his family.
Like, we were, like, was the murder, was he taken away?
So then we started chanting at football games.
The rest of high school, we would choose chant, where's bill?
Where's bill?
and they would get in a lot of trouble.
I think we would always change it.
And then a few years later, someone saw Bill back in our town.
He just had to go into hiding, I guess, because he owed these drug dealers so much money.
He's only been seen once since we were a sophomore in high school and I'm 31 now.
So we still talk about it and we still always want to know where he's been.
His family still lives in our town, but we're not.
We have no idea what happened to him.
So that's our big time in bed, everyone still talks about to this day.
Where's Bill?
That's not your name, but, you know, where's Bill?
So here's the question.
Like, did he go into hiding?
Did he go into witness protection?
Was he kidnapped?
I mean, that's a pretty good one.
That's crazy.
I mean, it's so funny to me because, like, I would have done the same thing,
and it's such a high school thing to do.
but chanting where is Bill at the football game
when you're dealing with like a missing person's case
is like so crazy.
Yeah.
A valid,
valid attempt for sure.
But here's a question.
To bring awareness to the missing bill situation.
It doesn't,
it doesn't,
uh,
seem that like the police were looking for a bit like in that like,
it seems like some people knew where a bill was because it,
yeah.
Otherwise it would have been like,
like news.
right? Like was it on the news? Maybe it was. I don't know. We can't look it up because we don't
have the names. And we don't have the level. I'm such a like goody two shoes and I was also in
high school that I can't even fathom being a sophomore in high school. You're like 15 or 16 and
already owing that much money to a drug deal like another drug dealer that you have to go into hiding
is crazy. I know, but that's the drug deal of life. Like even the low level drug dealers like
when you think about it, like back in my drinking slash rave days, like the guys that used to sell
ecstasy, whatever about the weed dealers, like, the guys that used to sell ecstasy and, like,
eventually some of them got caught. And it's like, they're so cool. And then suddenly, like,
their life is fucked. Or like, there was a kid in Queens. I won't name him, but he actually had
a pretty big bust, relatively high profile bust, but he was like the man for a long time.
Because, like, people like doing drugs. They want to hang out with the drug dealer. The drug deals
got money, you know, there's a certain type of girl wants to hang out with the drug dealer guy.
It is like an attraction thing, right?
It's almost like a fame, the drug dealer, you know, and then it all comes crashing down.
But, you know, it's the highs and lows.
It's really fascinating.
Nowadays, like, the weed dealers, like, are there weed deals anymore?
Not in New York, right?
No, I don't, I mean, you really don't have to at this point.
Yeah, just go to the shop, pick up some milk and some weed.
The shops are running the dealers out of business.
business.
Yeah.
But yeah, it was always fascinating, like, the drug dealer, like, because you kind of wanted to, like, be in with them, but also, like, I mean, I could get into a whole debate about legalization of drugs.
Because, like, I'm clean and sober, but I still, like, just the prohibition just doesn't work.
But I'm also aware that, like, like, making it legal, which just means more people take them because obviously alcohol is legal.
and alcohol is actually the biggest drug, you know, like in terms of harm because the most people take it.
So like it's always a complicated debate.
But like one thing's for sure is that like, you know, low level drug deals, like the fact that they end up wrapped up in crazy crime and like all this kind of stuff.
Like it's unnecessary.
Like this guy was in major debt because he was doing illegal shit and having to deal with like higher level criminals to get his shit.
And it's just like shouldn't be that way.
for something that's so common.
That's what bugs me so much is it's like,
why are we trying to pretend that so many people are not doing this shit?
Like all these, quote-unquote, law-abiding citizens are taking drugs.
It's very normal.
Why are we still trying to live into this pretense that it's illegal?
It's so stupid.
There's so much stupidity in the world.
I can't.
Just sometimes I just can't deal with the stupidity of it.
But I'm also aware that complete legalization will lead to its own problem.
but like which is worse I don't you know like I can't say which is worse you know the amount of lives
that are destroyed by these these what I consider low level crimes of drug dealing and I know it's
part of a much like even for example like there's a horrible shit happening in Mexico at the moment
I was reading about it in the paper the other day uh particularly like women being caught up in
like the stupid turf wars of the sinolo cartel and like obviously
like legalizing drugs won't get rid of all that crime, but like the amount of money that's involved
is what leads to all these. It's just so much money. It's like it's worth war. You know, it's worth war
to try to, you know, get all this profit. And a long story short, it's just silly that we've created
such a black market for this incredibly in-demand thing that it leads to this much crime. And I just,
I wish I had a better solution. But all I can say at the end of all this is, as, as,
We don't know where Bill is because of this very thing that I'm talking about from the top to the bottom, from Bill to fucking El Chapo.
But we know where El Chapo is.
And he ends up the same place all the fucking dealers do.
In jail or dead.
And he's in jail.
But most of him end up dead.
And it's not worth it.
Now, fun fact, I knew a drug dealer.
I knew a drug dealer from recovery.
But I didn't know he was a drug dealer.
In the early days, he was just somebody that was struggling to get clean.
Then he gets clean, gets his life together.
But he doesn't give up the life.
He doesn't give up to life.
This is a true story, by the way.
I'm not going to tell you who it is because you could look it up.
He doesn't give up to life.
And slowly he drifts from recovery.
But it's funny, he doesn't go back, he doesn't go back use it.
He's clean.
But now he's a dangerous dealer, right?
Because he's clean.
He's got a clear head.
He's not getting high on his own supply.
He's following the 10 crack commandments.
But, you know, with the money comes the power.
And then with the power comes enemies.
And, you know, he was involved in some high.
level shit, like high level shit.
And every now and then I would see him and I'd be like, yo, bro, like, you've made a lot of money.
Like, why don't you pack it in right now?
Because I was just like, bro, every story ends the same, you know?
And maybe some guys don't end up that way.
But you know how they don't end up that way?
They pack it in and they quietly disappear, you know?
Like, why keep doing this, bro?
It's all going to end up the same way.
And he couldn't give up the life.
and he was gunned down on his sister's lawn.
Oh my God.
Like straight up assassinated on his sister's lawn, you know?
And anyway, I was living in China at the time when it happened,
but I remember reading a paper.
And before I even saw the name, I knew it was going to be him.
But it was like gunned down and the location.
I was like, it's going to be him.
And long behold, it was.
You know, because he couldn't let it go.
So, like, how any drug dealer thinks it's going to end any other way is beyond me.
but also why we've created such a normal,
why we've created so much criminality around such a popular normal behavior.
It's like,
it just doesn't match up, you know?
It's like, why are all these normal kids in their 20s,
like teenagers, 20s, 30s doing this, even 40s and 50,
I know people that are still at it.
You know, the kids are getting older now,
so they're like, you know, the kids are, you know,
staying at somebody else's house and like they're just like they're going hard at it in their
40s and 50s right and nobody thinks they're being a criminal so why are we allowing so much
criminality to be associated with a behavior that's normal in society society thinks it's okay
to a large degree it's crazy to be but we won't resolve that today let's take one more story
before we go but we're very inspired by bill hey does my name is marade and i'm from offstate new york
biggest incident that happened at my very small Catholic high school is that kids were making
lean um which is like cough syrup and sprite and one of them was using um the teacher's muck
to drink it out of and they left it there and then the teacher drank it and the kid got expelled
that was like you're so crazy
you're so crazy
because like
I would use that much
love you and Hannah
bye
all right
okay I get it now
so what's lean
you immediately knew it
well obviously she said
this cough syrup and Sprite
I'm also from upstate
New York so the lean was hitting
hitting pretty hard
but yeah
I mean it also was like
I feel like at the time
there was such a culture of it
also like
you know in the media
and with like
little Wayne
was like
big lean drinker.
Really?
Yeah, there were like a handful of rappers that were like heavy into lean.
And it's like easy to make.
And when you're a kid...
So what is it like opioid cough syrup with Sprite?
Yeah.
But how would these people get in the coding cough syrup?
CBS.
Really?
Was that easy to get?
I guess so.
I mean, I feel like I knew people even made it with like, I want to say like Benadryl or
something too, but there was like a bunch of different things that you could, I mean, I was never a
lean consumer myself as I was a goody two shoes. But, um, yeah, lean was, lean was hot at the time,
for sure. I'm out of the loop on lean. So this kid accidentally leaves the lean in the cup. And then
they get expelled, which is crazy. Like, were they, were they suggesting that the teacher,
first of all, like, if I come back to a cup of mine and there's liquid in it and I'm like, what the
fuck did he think was in his fucking cup?
And how was the student drinking
out of it? I yeah.
I don't... That's a weird one.
But...
It is what it is. They got it
I didn't know what Lean was.
Yeah.
Yeah, Lean was big.
Lean was big. But it's like...
It's just one of those things that it's like... It's like lame.
It's like, it's not something that...
It's like made out of necessity because
you can't get any of the cool stuff.
Yes.
Yeah, and I guess it makes you feel a bit out of your lean.
I got to look that up.
It definitely wasn't around when I was there.
I used to just take a lot of antihistamine to just like,
totally.
Make me drowsy.
Totally.
All right, well, I feel like the death one is going to be too much.
Do you want to, do you want to, before we go, let's listen to it.
And we don't even have to talk about it if it's too much.
We can just say goodbye at the end.
Okay, well, we do have to end on Nuri because I don't know why you freaked out
about it so much at the beginning.
So we do have to close with that.
Will that be too silly after
terrible death story? No, I'll tell you what, we can put
the terrible death story at the end after we finish.
So what Nicole and I
were laughing about was Nicole
had said, I know it's annoying, asking for advice,
but her boyfriend is touring
with his band
through Ireland. So I was like,
what other places is he going? And the first place
she said was Nuri.
And I was like, so for those that don't know,
Nuri is a border town on the
northern side of the border in the north of Ireland, but it's very near where my grandfather's from.
Kilke. Can't you die? And, but like, it's just an odd stop for a band that's like not known in
Ireland unless they have like, do they have like a following? They do have like a small following.
They got like, they put together this tour with the UK and Ireland. I think most of these places
like actually reached out to them. So maybe that's why. But it's Dublin. And how are you?
saying it, Nuri?
Neri.
Neri.
Yeah, so that's, uh, those are the two big stops.
It's in the north.
It's in the north, though.
But those crowds are the best, you know.
But it's random.
That's why you're like, I thought that was pretty random.
Because when I told Des, he was like, what?
Like he acted like it was a shit hole.
Well, no, whoa, not shithole.
Just surprising spot for like a touring den.
So give me the Irish, give me the Irish towns that they're going to.
It's only, I think it's only Dublin and Nuri.
Yeah.
I mean, that would be like, hey, we're touring the United States.
We're doing New York City and we're doing New York City and Dayton, Ohio.
Like, you know what I mean?
Yeah, they're doing a bar too in New York.
What's it called?
The Phoenix Bar.
Right.
Oh, geez, that's probably a phenian.
That's a Fenian bar.
I can tell you that fucking Phoenix.
Rising from the ashes.
Motherfax,
and get our fucking freedom.
I can tell you that right now.
So anyway,
although I'll have a good time.
Where are they playing in Dublin?
The Soundhouse.
All right.
That's probably a venue I know,
but has changed names.
Yeah,
or it's just like,
they're doing like a lot of bars,
it seems.
That's great.
I would have thought,
Dundalk,
the other side of the border
from Nair
is a town on Dundalk,
which has a famous
venue called the Spirit Store,
which I would have thought.
But anyway,
they're playing Nera.
That's great.
Maybe the Phoenix has got like a good
A good live music vibe now
I'm delighted man I love Canter Dan
I used to march for
Neri is on the border of Armagh and County Down
So some parts are in Armagh
Some parts are in Down
But we march for County Down in the same patch of the parade
Growing up I mean my mother's in O'Hare
There's a lot of O'Hars in Nure
So you'll he'll see
But anyway
On the way back down to Dublin
If he's in Neri first
Carlingford Lock is very beautiful
You know
Town of Carlingford
And then you know
In Dublin, I mean, he's going to be only there for a day or two.
So it's very hard to say what to do.
I would say don't go to Temple Bar, but then some people, like, it's really touristy,
but some people enjoy it.
It's hard for me to, it's hard for me to really give advice.
But, you know, I just, I just can't believe he's going to fucking Nerey.
That's all.
That's so funny.
Yeah.
It's, it's all like UK.
It's mostly UK.
But I can't even say most of the names of these places.
because they're just goofy and I know I'm going to be saying it wrong.
Oh, come on. Say them. Come on.
London is tonight.
All right.
Sheffield.
Sheffield, yeah.
That's the city where the Fulmonte takes place.
If you ever saw the Fulmanti.
That's a good working class town, northern industry.
Pontefract.
Yeah, I'm not that familiar with that, but I guess that's in Wales, right?
That's probably much.
Yes.
Barrow and Furness.
Is that a real?
Wow, these guys are playing some small-ass town.
Who the fuck is their promoter?
And then Edinburgh, they're doing.
So that's like, we know that.
Great city.
Leeds.
We know leads.
Another great city.
Good, working class town, northern town.
The names are goofy as hell.
Like, no offense.
Like Newcastle upon Tyne.
Well, it's a fucking, well, why is it upon time?
Well, that's its official name because the Tyne is the river.
That's goofy as well.
Well, is Stratford upon Avon?
Is that weird to you?
Yes.
That's where Shakespeare.
But anyway, yeah, Newcastle-Pontaine is, that's no, you know, that's just like common.
But Newcastle is a great city, great city.
And Wrexham?
Rexum.
I think is Wales.
Rexham.
Yeah, well, Rexum is also famous because of the documentary.
Okay.
What is it?
Well, they were, yeah, they were a team very low down and Ryan Reynolds and McElhattan from fucking,
it's always sunny in Philadelphia, bought the team.
have like got them all the way up to one below the Premier League.
So very unique tour that they're on.
It's a weird, well, it's their first international tour.
This is like one of the many band season, but it's called Not North.
So if you're in any of those towns, free promo for them.
Nice.
This is all, I guess, like the week that this comes out, they're going to be on the second half of that.
So when's Dublin?
Dublin is the 10th.
Okay.
So they'll hear this.
11th. If you're in, if you're in, if you're in, if you're in Dublin or nere, uh, between the 10th,
the 11th and November, go at September. Go check them out. What are they called? Not North.
Not north. This is one of Chris's many bands. So great. That's a good band name in Nuree.
Say not north. That's right. Not north. It's all fucking one island.
Fucking. Come on. Come on. Anyway. All right. Well, we'll play out. We'll play out one at the end.
And, uh, we'll see you guys next week. Thanks, everybody. Uh, and don't forget.
we love we love prompt suggestions and so do put it in for us and we'll talk to you next week
hi does and Nicole know why did as soon as I saw your story about this like I don't even think
this is the incident but this is what immediately popped into my head when I saw the TikTok
about the incident at your school there was this like really good swimmer on the swim team
and we had a, I think it was like a Dunkin' Donuts across the street,
and it was like our main road in our town.
And all the kids, like before and after school,
would walk to Dunkin' Donuts because obviously we're all so grown up and cool.
And she got hit by a car and died.
And I forgot about that until now.
Crazy.
