Drake, how would you describe your fashion style?
Um, my fashion style?
And don't overthink it.
We're not judging you.
Probably just rock and roll.
We are.
Oh, yeah.
Ooh, that was a really good answer.
Also, he's all tatted up under his jacket.
Wow.
I'm, okay.
Are you blushing?
It was hot.
It was cold.
It was cold in here earlier.
But, you know, I might have to take my jacket off.
Growing up, I've always had love for rock and roll.
And, you know.
I'm talking about Blink 182.
Pretty much, yeah.
They were my fashion.
Miss you, I miss you.
That was definitely my fashion icon.
Or Fred Savage.
T-shirt and cargo shorts.
Yeah.
We're going to wear eyeliner?
No, I don't.
I don't.
Are you going to get a Mohawk?
No, no.
Wait, where did this?
Are you going to get a face tattoo?
How do we get on to bed?
Sometimes we just can't stop.
We can't stop.
Welcome to Burning.
what's up guys we are in the dark dark evil depths of hell and i am with drake bell
if that name rings a bell no pun intended it's probably because you know him from the hit
series drake and josh all the fellow millennials are probably like nerding out right now because
he is a god to us millennials back in the day um but he's been in a ton of projects since including
the voice of spider man and the ultimate spider man and now
He has a new song out titled, Fuego Lento.
Yeah.
Did you like that intro?
Yeah, that was really cool.
I wrote it on the subway coming in.
Oh, that was awesome.
I had a pun in it.
Yeah.
So you're basically, it's a big deal.
You're promoting this new song.
Can you speak Spanish?
I mean, I can.
A poikito?
Yeah, a little.
Enough to get around, but I'm far from fluent.
But I spend a lot of time, a lot of time in Mexico.
I heard Mexico City is like,
Incredible.
Oh, you never been?
No, my brother and his girlfriend went, and they said it was great.
I personally could eat Mexican food every day.
Yeah, you love it.
But it wouldn't be great for my digestive system.
Well, also, it's kind of different.
I mean, if you're eating Mexican food in, you know, in the States,
it's totally different than the Mexican food you're going to eat in Mexico.
It's so good.
So you're, like, fascinated by the culture, and you wanted to immerse yourself in it a little more?
What's going on?
Okay, so what's wild does I put out?
Okay, so I put a record out.
in like 2006 or something like that
You've been around for so long
I'm exhausted just talking to you
I know a long time
So I put out on a record a long time ago
Anyway
And it did really well down
In the Latin America area
For some reason
I don't know why
But they really
They just really
Really resonated out there with them
And so why do Mexicans like you
More than Americans
I don't know
Welcome to hell
But yeah no
I don't know
I think they just
I don't know
I thought it'd be really cool
to come back and record something in Spanish for the fans, because I'd do stuff in
concert, you know, covers in Spanish and stuff and speak and, you know, and talk to them
in Spanish, and they love it. And so I thought it'd be really cool to come back and do something
original, you know. That's awesome. So if we backtracked, what, like 15 years ago,
did you ever think you'd be where you are now? What and how? With this random girl
asking you intrusive questions? Or even, just like that you now have this song,
that you're promoting?
Like, did you see that for yourself?
Yeah, I mean, I've just been wanting to,
I was hopefully doing what I'm doing now for a long time,
you know, making records and touring and continuing to tour, you know,
because there's a lot of people, I've been doing this for a long time, you know,
and there's a lot of people who are really talented that I grew up with
and that we're in, that we're in, you're from California originally?
Yeah, yeah, I'm from L.A., so.
Cool.
So I've been doing this forever.
And I've just seen so many people, you know, quit for whatever reason or it didn't work out or doing it.
So I think just being able to have some sort of sustainability.
I mean, honestly, it's pretty impressive.
Like, anyone who goes from Child Star, I mean, you were on Home Improvement.
Oh, my gosh.
That was forever again.
I, like, I did some research on the way, and I was like, holy shit, this guy's been around forever.
Did you like it as a kid?
Did you love acting?
Or was it kind of just like you're in the industry, your parents pushed you a little,
and then you were on a roller coaster?
No, I loved it.
It was so much fun.
I was fascinated by film and television and music
from a really young age,
from as young as I can remember,
and really in love with classic TV and films and stuff.
So I would be more into watching, you know,
I love Lucy and the monsters.
I love Lucy.
And the monsters and Get Smart and Mary Tyler Moore
and all the kind of Nick at Night
era shows and then TV land
sort of thing and
isn't it crazy to watch Nick at night and then
we want the stars at Nickelodeon one day
well it was weird watching you know growing up watching
all that and then ending up on the Amanda
show and then having a show
I used to grow up watching
I used to watch Nickelodeon like
religiously so it's really weird to now be such
a like a figurehead from
something that you grew up on it's also weird for me right
I'm not going to lie but you're like
you're iconic to our generation
like anyone says Drake and Josh
and everyone's like, duh, I must have watched so many hours.
And you were, like, always kind of the cool guy.
You had a great sense of humor, but you were still, like, the cool one.
Being kind of, you were kind of a little bit of a heartthrob.
I can't remember if I, May and Mary or not had a crush on you when I was, like, nine and didn't know how I was feeling.
I'm like, why do you want to watch his face?
But do you have any physical insecurities about yourself?
I mean, you're throwing yourself on camera all the time.
Are you physically insecure about anything?
No, I mean, I don't know about insecure, no, probably not, but there were times where it was, you know, kind of weird.
I got in a car accident when I was in, when I was doing the show and, um, I heard about that.
I busted it, like, these are all fake.
Your bottom teeth?
Yeah, I got these all knocked out and then my, like, you kind of see, kind of see a scar right here.
A little, yeah.
This was huge.
It cut all the way through my face.
And your face was your moneymaker.
Yeah, and I was in the middle of a show.
Jesus.
I wasn't just an actor kind of like, oh, bummer.
Didn't do anything wrong, right?
You were driving and someone fell asleep with the wheel.
Yeah, I was just sitting at a red light.
I was just sitting there like...
Did that moment...
I got hit by a car in college, actually, but just hit my leg.
So it's not that intense.
Not to make this about me, but I did too.
But did you...
Did it affect your perspective on life after getting hit by a car?
Totally.
Because, I mean, shit was going well for you at the time.
Like life, you probably felt like you can't do anything wrong.
Absolutely, yeah.
And especially at that age and you're...
You were 19, right?
Yeah, I was 19, and you're giving it.
Did you do some research?
Yeah, I did, I did fresh research.
Like, I did a subway full-pid.
I was going to ask you about it later.
I'm like, if you want to bring it up, let's fucking go.
No, but yeah, it was crazy.
You know, you really realize that everything can just go and like that, you know,
and so out of your control.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, if you're, you know, there's one thing if you're out being stupid,
you're being a dumb 19-year-old kid, you're driving too fast, you know,
you always have in growing up
you're like well I'm not going to be that idiot
well I'm not going to do that well I'm like until it happens
until you do it
but when it happens to you
as you're saying well I'm fine
I'm not going to do anything stupid
I'm not going to drive too fast I'm not going to
then all of a sudden boom it's completely out of your control
and all of a sudden
life takes control
I broke my jaw in three places
I fractured my neck I'm spitting teeth out
I'm getting out of the covered in blood
and we were just off
at the beach going on a run
and then
I'm like cool that was fun
let's hop in the car and head home
and sit in a red light
and then I was like
is this guy gonna stop
my buddy was like
I don't think this guy's stopping man
this guy is coming really fat
and he had fallen asleep
and was on the wrong side of the road
just going
oh no
yeah right on PCH
and we just spun out
he hit us head on
we spun out
that's literally like
a kind of thing
you're just watching a movie
and you're like that's crazy
it was a movie
It was, it's wild because I can completely remember everything and seeing it like I was watching a movie.
Did you take less things for granted?
Yeah, yeah, totally.
I mean, that's the other thing, too, is, you know, you're sitting there through recovery and I had my jaw wired shut.
Oh.
I was on an all-liquid diet.
I couldn't, I didn't have any of my teeth because they were just gone.
So you were looking sexy.
Oh, you should have seen.
I have, oh, it's so crazy.
I have a picture of when I actually got hit somewhere in my phone.
But no, I was growing a beard because I couldn't shave because this was healing.
And I didn't have my bottom teeth and my jaw was wired shut.
And so I'm talking like this for four months.
You know, I just have to talk like this.
And they're not just like wired shut.
They're like as if you are biting down really hard.
So it's just constant headaches and pain in your face.
And you have to take your medicine, you know, the Vicodin or Lortab or whatever you need to take has to be in a liquid form.
But you're also don't have anything.
That's one of those moments where you're like, you're like, I will never take for granted again just like waking up in the morning and talking.
Completely.
That's like when you get a cold and you're like, I will, I just want a moment where I can breathe through my nose.
And then you breathe through your nose and you're like bitching about everything else.
Exactly, exactly.
So I'm fascinated by overcoming insecurities.
Do you have any emotional insecurities
or personality insecurities?
Are you insecure about anything, Mr. Drake?
I mean, what do you mean insecure?
Like, do I...
With dating or whether it's, you know, performing
or whether it's...
Like, what doubts do you ever have about yourself?
I mean, I wish I was a better musician than I am.
Sometimes when I get around other musicians,
I kind of feel like, oh, man.
I don't know.
I mean, insecure.
I mean, that's really the only time
that I ever feel kind of, but then I could still, I, I don't know.
How do you find the confidence then?
Practice.
How do you find the confidence in just yourself, though?
Like, because you, you're a public figure.
You're probably, people talk shit about you all the time.
Uh, yeah.
So how do you overcome that?
Uh, yeah.
Well, it's crazy, because I've been in this for so long that I've, you know, I was doing this
way before any social media
or you couldn't have
you couldn't instantly comment on somebody's picture or tweet
or say something so
yeah it's a crazy world when you can just
you've seen it change oh completely
changed yeah and back then you could
kind of control the paparazzi in a bit
where now everyone's like a paparazzi
everyone everyone's got a phone everyone you
have to be camera ready every single time you step out of
the the
door because if you don't take a picture of somebody
will then you then they
They have the ability.
See, before, you know, not that I was this type of person, but I'm just, you know, I'm, you know, I don't mind being approached and people coming up to me.
It's like, it's cool.
I like people saying they dig the show or whatever.
Like, that's kind of cool.
But a lot of, you know, some people, you know, it bugs them, you know, and they don't like it a lot, you know.
But, yeah, you know, before someone would come up to you and you could be like, ah, you know, not right now or, oh, I'm with my kids or, oh, you know, can we do that later?
or after this, then the person would just walk away
or would be like, okay, cool.
But now they have the ability to tweet to, like,
you know, however many hundreds of followers they have
and then get retweeted over the,
oh, so-and-so's a dick, because at Starbucks,
he didn't take a picture with me.
It's like, wait, what?
How do you, wait, now you have the power to just,
ah, man, or someone takes a picture
and you just woke up and you're outside,
and you know, well, before it would just be like,
hey, can I get your autograph or, hey,
can I get a picture of you,
and then maybe they'd go and develop that,
and then it would be on their wall at home or something, you know?
And now it's like, oh, great, that selfie that somebody took of me from down here looking up my nose
when I just woke up and I'm, and I wasn't ready, and that just got tweeted out to 900 people.
And then all the fans who, you know, fan picked that picture up and then that gets tweeted.
It's crazy.
There's no privacy at all anymore for anyone.
Does that add anxiety to your life?
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Do you think you're a private person?
No, I mean, I like my privacy.
I just don't know if I'm like a private person.
Yeah, no, I like my privacy, but it's just interesting being able to see both sides of it,
you know, not coming into it in the era of when that already existed.
Yeah, I think it's funny because a lot of people come up because of, you know,
a YouTube video or a Vine or a viral Instagram video.
and you, like, came up the old school way from, like, casting.
Do you just feel like you're a different generation of celebrity?
Honestly, yeah.
I mean, it's totally different.
And, you know, that's what I was talking the other day with some people is, you know,
you have all of these things happening with these, you know, Instagram people.
And, you know, you don't know who they are or where they're,
and all of a sudden, they're overnight, they have, whatever, have any.
And, you know, I don't want to.
like talk disparagingly.
But sometimes, you know, there was no vetting process like there is in Hollywood.
Like, you know, you have to audition and you have to, you have to be chosen and go through a process of, you know, producers and casting directors.
And you also get rejected probably a shit time.
That's what I'm saying, you know, agents and this and that and that and you go to audition after audition after audition and people say no and people say no.
And then here's this generation of just kids who I don't, I don't.
No, no. It's just a different way. The trajectory is different. Yeah, it's just totally different.
Were you afraid after Drake and Josh? Well, first of all, did you think Drake and Josh was going to be as big as it became?
No, not at all. I mean, and even now, it seems like it's growing. I feel like you guys are going to get, I mean, now that you're kind of more in the public eye again, I feel like people are like wanting it.
Yeah, I mean, it's crazy. The show seems to be bigger now than it's ever been. I don't know if that's because of a social media thing or because people are sharing.
it or because of the show's so memeable or...
And the nostalgia of it is so beautiful for us millennials.
Like it reminds us of a time where like our biggest worry was doing homework.
Exactly, exactly, you know.
And also it's, I think because of streaming now, you know, I've got kids coming up.
Where can people stream it, by the way?
On Hulu.
Hulu.
Fuck yeah.
That's what I'm doing tonight.
I've got kids coming up to me, you know, and I'm like, they're seven, eight years old.
Oh, they must be, it must be in the kids section on Hulu, or they're streaming it
or watching it on YouTube or whatever.
And the cool thing about our show is we never really kept it pop culture heavy, you know?
Yeah, it's like Evergreen.
Yeah, there was never, it's timeless.
There's never, we weren't talking about specific.
Every once in a while, you know, there's a Dora the Explorer joke or something like that.
Yeah.
But it was never, it was never set in a certain time.
Were you afraid because it was so big that you would have trouble transitioning into a different acting role after being like Drake?
Well, the show wasn't.
that big when we finished you know that's what's so crazy the show wasn't you know i talked to josh
about it too and he's like you know we never had we never experienced what we're experiencing now
from fans and and and from people even just knowing the show you know walking down the streets in
new york josh and i came to new york when the show was at its height when we were filming and
maybe if there was a field trip happening some of the girls were like oh my gosh those are those
guys from Nickelodeon, you know. But now, if me or Josh are walking down the streets in New York,
I mean, it's every, everybody. So, um, do you like it? Yeah, I mean, I think it's really cool that,
you know, people dig the show and dig what we did and, and have like that nostalgic affinity
for it, you know, I, um, do you feel like you have to create a new identity now? Or you kind of
can just leverage what Drake and Josh was? Um, no, I mean, I've never really,
thought of
I've never
you know the thing is
is the Drake character for me
wasn't so much
for example
let's take Miley for example
you know like to say Miley on Hannah Montana
was not Miley Cyrus
she was a character that was created
and and then
you know Miley auditioned
with a bunch of other girls and then
Miley got the part yeah and she
fell into this but she wasn't
and then she had to like undo it to be herself
right and then she
She kind of, so when she came off of that show, how everybody knew her, she was going, wait, but that's not, like, you need to know me now, you know.
The cool thing about Drake and Josh was, I was Drake, and I had the music, all the music that I was playing on the show I wrote.
Cool.
I wrote the theme song for the show.
We, you know, I'm a guitar player.
It basically was me.
You know, they just changed my last name.
And I was better with girls.
There wasn't much of a stretch for me.
So when I would go and play concerts
or I would go and release other records after the show,
it wasn't as if I was, you know, Billy on the show
and now I have to release the Drake Bell records.
Yeah, and teach people who that is.
Yeah, and when you come to my concerts,
everyone's going, wait a minute,
I want to see Billy
Like it's like no they're like yeah
Drake he plays these songs on the show
And that's Drake from the show
You know and it wasn't
You know the clothes I wore on the show
I mean I may as well just show to show up to work
And go on camera
You know because it'd be the same thing I'd wear anyway
And you know so there was no
I wasn't really playing a character
So how is the Drake right now
Grown and different from the Drake
That we watched on TV
I mean
Not much
Not much
You know what they say
They say that the day you get famous
You stay that age
Is that what they say?
Yeah
Oh wow
All right
Then yeah
I guess I'm
Are you better with girls now?
No
Wait
Do you think you're awkward with women?
No
I don't think I'm awkward with women
No
You were
But you were like a player on the show
Yeah but I mean
It was a bit of a joke on the show
You know, I had things that I would never work in real life, you know.
You're like, this is stupid.
She'd never say, yes.
Yeah, I would have lines like, you know, between you and me.
You're the second most attractive person in this room.
And the girl will go, oh, oh, my.
You know, I mean, what is it?
Come on, that's not going to work.
I'm, like, turned on right now.
I have to control myself.
Well, I guess it does work.
So let's twist it because we're,
were getting too sexy. When was the last time you were depressed? The last time I was depressed?
Oh, what time is it? It's 558. Then in 557 when I found out I was in hell. No, I don't know.
You know, I mean, like, you know, time that I was depressed. Are you a pretty happy person?
I try to be. I try to be pretty positive. I try not to dwell at least. If there, you know,
If there's negative negativity, I try not to dwell on it.
Because I feel like you do, like there's a toughness in that Hollywood life that you're in
where like you're constantly being judged and what's your only as good as your last project.
Well, yeah, I mean, you definitely have to be, you know, grow some calluses because especially now,
like with the social media stuff, it's like a bombardment of, you know, you cannot,
you cannot be right.
You cannot do anything that is going to please everybody.
to get bombarded with, you know,
the other day I was asked something,
and I can't remember,
but I thought of the most diplomatic way to answer it,
you know, where I'm not shitting on the person
that's being, that they're asking the question about,
and I'm praising that, but not too much,
where people would be, like, and, you know,
just trying to give the most diplomatic, like, here you go,
this is here's your answer and still from both sides it's like well you didn't give the right
answer to yeah well here and there's just no there's just no way to to please everybody and
everybody's got a voice and everybody has you know everybody and I think with social media
everyone wants to get that next like clickbait thing exactly so if they could start something
too is click bait I mean it's just I don't know I'm ready I'm ready to pull an edge here and just
throw my phone out the window. I'm glad my phone
is actually broken right now. Oh my
God, that sounds incredible. Yeah, it's actually
pretty cool. Except it really
kind of sucks because I'm trying to do that old person
face app thing. Oh, yeah.
And it's really good
but I keep having to close
out. You're like, the only thing I need my phone
for is to look like an old man. Yeah, it's
really good. It's really accurate. Have you
done it? No. It's scary.
I really want to. It's scary. It's scary. You're
going to look like your mom.
You're going to look at it and go, oh my gosh.
That's my mom.
My mom's pretty hot.
So is my grandma.
My grandma has an Instagram.
I'll have you follow her after this.
All right.
Hot Granny.
Her name's Nana Still Got it.
If you're listening, follow Nana still got it.
Last kind of question about your life.
What was Drake worried about when he was a kid in Drake and Josh?
Like, what was your biggest worry in the world?
Getting to work on time?
What advice, if you could?
Would you give that kid?
I'd probably just say slow down.
It's the same thing.
You know, you always ask for advice,
and it's always the same cliches,
but if you listen to them, you know,
they start to make sense as you get older,
you know, it's like early bird gets the worm.
You know, stop and smell the rose.
And they all, but as you get older,
you're like, oh, dude, that totally makes sense.
I know what that means,
and I wish I would have listened to that,
you know just kind of you know just slow down everything you know it's it's it's it's a long journey
there's a lot of you know i would say to anybody really especially like you know young people
getting into the business or into this industry it would be two things it would be slow down
you got a there's a long time ahead of you and it comes really fast so just slow down and
And also just really understand how important relationships are and the building of relationships
in this industry, no matter how big or small that you feel they are at the time, because the next
intern could be the next president of a company or the next, you know, PA could be the next
director of the next cool project you want to be a part of.
and because you were, guys were cool
and had a great time on that one project
and you weren't a dick and you showed up on time
and you were prepared, you know,
you go into the room and you're like, dude, you're directing this?
That's so sick.
Otherwise, you walk in, you're like,
oh man, I gave this guy hell on that movie I did.
Every time he knocked on my trailer, I said,
oh, I'm busy, you know, whatever,
and then showed up, didn't know my line, you know, whatever,
and gave this guy, you know, hell,
because I thought he was just some, you know,
fucking PA or whatever.
Yeah.
All of a sudden you walk in the room and you go,
Oh, shit.
Did that happen to you?
No, no, no.
No, but it's like keep your ego in check.
Those are real things that happen in this industry.
Oh, yeah.
Where you don't realize.
But no, I have so many friends who started in really small positions
and are now presidents of companies and executive producers and
and writers on show.
And you've been in the industry for like 2,500 years.
Yeah, exactly.
Exactly.
And that's the point is like, I've watched like, you know, the young actors who
kind of, oh, whatever, dude, that guy's just copying scripts.
Like, whatever, I'm the star of the show.
You know, and it's like, dude, that guy copying scripts in about six years is going to be, you know,
making a decision maybe if you're casted or not.
Exactly, exactly.
And everybody has, you know, and that's the thing I think that actors don't recognize is
we're the only part or element of the film industry that isn't a stepping stone.
or latter to being promoted and becoming a bigger and better in your position.
If I'm an actor, I'm always just going to be whatever my next role that's given to me is,
and hopefully that is a bigger success, and I get a bigger name, and I can do bigger projects.
But, you know, you can start in the mailroom of an agency and just do your job,
and in, you know, eight years, you'd be running the agency.
10 years, you'd be running the agency.
No, you know, and the actors are going to be still auditioning,
and you're going to be telling them what to do,
even though when they were walking in 10 years ago,
they're looking at you like, a kid in the mailroom, whatever.
And then you're running, now you're running CAA going,
hey, remember when you were talking to me in the mail room, like a little shit?
Yeah, by the way, here's your audition for that Jif, you know,
that Isuzu commercial, for that Mitsubishi commercial, you know.
Have fun.
I'm running the company now.
That's actually incredible advice,
especially for people who are in the industry,
and in the mailroom right now who are listening.
Exactly.
The world works in weird ways, giving it back.
Yeah, totally.
I believe in karmic forces, I do.
So I want to play a quick game with you called Heaven or Hell.
It's really cold in hell, by the way.
And he has a jacket on.
It is very important.
We're not in Hollywood anymore, Craig.
Heaven or Hell.
So Heaven or Hell, I'm going to give you a scenario, and you have to say
if you think it's heaven or you think it's hell.
Okay.
Let's begin.
Dating someone who's better looking than you.
I mean, that's so subjective.
I mean, how would you...
You're like, has anyone ever been better looking than me?
No, I mean, I don't know.
No, I think that's the goal, isn't it?
Maybe.
Okay, this one's going to get good.
Heaven or Hell, doing a song with Justin Bieber.
No, that's heaven.
That's heaven, baby.
That would be awesome.
When I was doing my research, I saw that you have Twitter wars with him.
Dude, that was, that's like so 2013.
Wait, who won the war?
That is so, that is so old.
Are you guys cool now?
I don't know.
I met him like one time.
Okay.
Next, heaven or hell, you never act again.
I mean.
Are you burnt?
No, I mean, I don't.
really that you're not passionate about it anymore i wouldn't say that's heaven or hell
is it just like it's a job for you no i mean i really like acting it's it's great i mean it's a lot
of fun i but i i don't know if i never acted again if it would be hell like i or heaven really
are you primarily like inspired by music right now yeah or creating you know i mean here's the thing
I've been acting for so long.
Literally 3,000 years.
Yeah.
And it gets to a point where, you know, sitting in your trailer and being waiting to call, you know, there's not much creativity behind.
Yeah.
Sitting and waiting around on set all day, reading books.
And then finally you get to go do the scene, you know, because on movies you're only doing a couple pages a day.
Yeah.
It's, I.
Are you good at memorandum?
Scribes?
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, I don't know, I really, I'm really enjoying traveling and being on tour and making
records and, and that kind of thing.
It's such a different, like, experience.
It's completely different.
And so.
And you get a high from, like, performing live and getting an immediate reaction, I think,
versus just like.
Not only getting an immediate reaction, because, I mean, if you're doing a sitcom, you know,
you have a live audience there, but, you know, if you get a laugh, you're kind of looking over
at the writer and going, oh, dude, good joke, you know.
But if you're on stage and someone's singing your song, you're going, oh, man, I wrote this
in my bedroom.
That's fulfilling.
And this person in this other country who doesn't even speak my language is singing all
the lyrics, you know, so they're just different, you know?
I mean, so it's, I mean, if I never acted again, it wouldn't be the end of the world.
But, you know, I, I don't know, I'm kind of different about it.
I like that honesty.
But I love, see, I would, I would love to be, you know, directing more and producing more, being more of the all-around, you know, doing everything.
Because then you can, then your mind's working all the time, you know, if you're directing, you know, something, then, you know, then I'm constantly thinking, constantly working.
Yeah.
I see that in your future.
Yeah, I'd like to.
We've done, we've done, I've done a bunch of stuff.
Last question for heaven or hell.
There's another controversial one.
Heaven or hell.
Going to Josh's wedding.
it would have been heaven
oh if anyone doesn't know there was controversy back in the day
because Josh didn't invite Drake to his wedding
and people lost their shit
they lost it
because we felt like we lived a lie
Drake and Josh are best friends
and this is fucked up
yeah it was
his wife doesn't like you doesn't she
she's like this guy is a bad influence
he just picks up ladies
Yeah, you know, that might have been it.
That might have been it.
I'm a bad influence on the man.
How are you guys now? Give me some updates.
We're great.
I was just with him like a week before last.
I was hanging out with him and his wife and his new baby.
Aw.
Which is wild.
Yeah, that is wild.
Also, he had a glow up.
Yeah.
Yeah, he did.
He got all ripped and lost all that weight.
It looks great.
Do you know his secret?
What did he do?
Keto?
What is he on?
Laxatives?
What is he doing?
What is the latest Hollywood thing?
I don't know.
I really don't know.
Are you a vegan?
No.
Okay, I just want to know.
I'm from L.A., but I'm not a vegan.
Do you like New York City?
I love New York City.
Why?
Because it's completely different than L.A.
In L.A., you can kind of be isolated a lot if you want to be.
You can just be kind of in your car, in your own world, doing your own thing.
And in New York, you're forced to be.
The hustle and bustle.
It's in your face.
Yeah, it's completely in your face.
And everybody, everybody's, I don't know, I like getting up really early in the morning and doing my, and getting stuff done and, and, and, um, being, uh, active and, and, and, and, and, and, and, you don't have to brag. No, I just, I, I just, it just seems more, you wake up early and get you done. We get it. No, but New York seems like everybody kind of is, is, is, is on that same tip where in L.A. It's like, it's like, it's like, people are waking up at noon and, you know, it's just kind of relaxed and, uh, you show,
up
I get the,
you're a
hour late
well
whatever you know
it was traffic
oh
so much traffic
you know
so
you had to come
to the west
side
you get it
you know
that's
that's
Malibu
of course
I'm late
like
whatever you know
but in New York
they're like
what the fuck
yeah
in New York's like
dude
dude
you're on in two minutes
like
what the hell
you're ruined
my entire
day
my entire schedule
get out of here
you know
But I like that about New York.
Cool.
And you get a little bit of both.
Yeah.
So I want to end with the Seven Deadly Sins.
Okay.
Seven Deadly Sins.
So this is the hard part.
You've done pretty well so far, but now it's the final countdown.
What, by sidestepping every question?
And me just staring at you.
Why are you sweating so much?
Just kidding. He's not sweating. It's actually kind of chilling here.
It gets very cold.
Okay. Time to play The Seven Deadly Sins.
What are you greedy about?
And you can't say I don't know to any of these or I'm going to lose it.
Money?
Yeah.
I noticed that you have some bling on you.
He has a DB.
I love where you couldn't find it.
It's a huge, huge diamond necklace.
It's tiny.
Okay, two chains.
That is tiny.
It is so bright.
It's been blinding me this whole time.
It's so small.
But it's actually really cute.
It's like a guitar with a diamond.
If it was big, she wouldn't have said it's so cute, all right?
That is not a combination.
You don't want to, you know, wow, it's so big and cute.
Does the motivation for money keep you waking up in the morning?
Yeah.
Would you take, do you still say no to gigs, though, that you think are a good fit for you?
Or you just, like, take hustling, making that dough?
No, I mean, it's definitely a balance.
You don't want to just, like I said earlier, like, you don't want to just do stuff for the money.
That Mitsubishi commercial.
But there are definitely things that, you know, you're like, you're, like, you're,
like, this is, I don't want to do that.
What? Okay.
What time?
And how long's the flight?
Cool. Coach?
No big deal.
That's how much you're giving me?
All right, I'll be there.
It's so funny.
Same thing happens with me, like, with Instagram shit.
Yeah.
My manager is like, do you want to do this?
And I'm like, God, no.
And she's like, but for this?
And I'm like, I will do anything.
Yeah, I'll do it three times.
Like, how many do they want me?
Yeah, they're like, yeah, they want you to do this.
And I'm like, that's ridiculous, man.
And I'm like, this is what they want to give you.
I'm like, I will do it ten times.
Can I do once a month?
Like, okay.
It's so funny.
It's so true.
Yeah.
Who are you envious of?
Who am I envious of?
Mm-hmm.
Like, envious?
You heard what I said.
Envious of.
Okay, I'm envious.
I'm envious of Harry Stiles because he gets to hang out with Alessandra McKayley
and gets to where all that cool, that Gucci, and he probably gets it for free.
You're so funny right now
You kind of look like him a little
Like Harry Stiles?
Yeah
Oh, thank you
He's a good-looking cat
And he has a cool little accent
Yeah, he does
It's all right
Oh
Maybe you could do a little
Song with him and Justin Bieber
That would be cool
And then I would rate his closet
I think he's too tall for me though
But
Harry Stiles, is he tall?
I think he's taller than I am
I don't know
I'm gonna Google that
I think he's 510
Okay, let's see.
A 5-11.
Harry Stiles' height.
Sometimes when I'm bored, I just Google Celebrity's height.
Yeah.
Six feet, okay.
Oh, see, I told you it was tall.
Okay, third question.
Yes.
We're almost done.
What do you glutton us about?
So this is different than greed.
Glutton is like excessive indulgence.
No, I know what it means.
Okay, I interview some dumb-ass people on this podcast.
Hi.
Hi.
Oh, my God.
Hi, yes.
Look at that bad.
I love that bad.
This is Paige.
This is Drake.
Hi, Paige.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
I've watched you on TV before.
Sorry, I didn't give you a coffee.
How's it going?
Is this a coffee or a child?
I hate coffee, so you read my mind.
Paige, we only have like three more questions left.
Do you want to just sit in?
That's why I came really.
Talking to it?
Hi.
Oh, my God, it does.
Oh, yeah.
Okay, guys, Paige DeSorbo has joined us for the last three questions, four questions.
Whatever.
I'm not giving you numbers.
Can I chime in with my answers?
No, that's going to be for your own episode
But you can help me interview him
Okay, oh, I like that better
Okay, so Drake, what do you gluttonous about
I try to explain what gluttony was
Because he didn't know what it was
Yeah, yeah, I didn't understand the question
Oh, right start
Probably Gucci
Really, I know, he said he loves Harry Styles fashion
Page happens to be a fashionista
I am
Oh, cool, yeah, all right
Do you have, what do you like so much about Gucci?
I just really like what they're
doing right now. It's just cool. What are they doing?
They're fucking making clothes, man. Yeah.
They're good at branding. No, they're just
the... He just likes it.
Yeah. Paige, what do you think
of Drake's outfit right now? I like it.
Hey, thank you. I love a Blazer T-shirt combo.
It's very cool. Very chic.
Drake, how would you describe your
fashion style? Um, my fashion style? And don't overthink it.
We're not judging you. Probably just rock and roll. We are. Oh, yeah.
Oh, that was a really good
I'm sorry.
Also, he's all tatted up under his jacket.
Wow.
Okay.
Are you blushing?
It was hot.
It was cold in here earlier.
But, no, I might have to take my jacket off.
You said it, not us.
No, I think that growing up, I've always had an affinity for fashion, I think, because of my love for rock and roll.
And, you know, you would always...
I think about Blink 182.
Pretty much, yeah.
They were my fashion.
Miss you, I miss you.
That was definitely my fashion icon.
Or Fred Savage.
T-shirt and cargo shorts.
Yeah.
Or wear eyeliner?
Yeah.
And etneys and yeah.
Good question.
Do you ever wear eyeliner?
No, I don't.
I don't.
Are you going to get a mohawk?
No, no.
Wait, where did this?
Are you going to get a face tattoo?
How did we get on the bag?
Sometimes we just can't stop.
We can't stop.
No, no, what I'm saying is like, you know, you think of Elvis, you don't just think of the music.
You think of Bowie.
You don't think of the music.
You think of the Beatles.
You don't just think of the music.
You think of the fashion and what they looked like.
How'd they do their hair?
What was there, you know, all the old guy, you know, Chuck Berry and Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis and all these guys, you know, had the, it was everything.
They had an aesthetic.
It was their hair.
Exactly.
Everything.
It was the cars they drove, the hair, the way their girls dressed, the way their, it was like the whole thing.
And so I think that that's sort of.
I'm inspired right now.
I want to go raise from his closet.
Fashion, you know.
Yeah.
And fashion is creating, and you are, you love creating.
Completely.
Same with me.
Page likes creating, too.
That's, I was just going to say that.
It was going to say that's where people don't understand.
It's, it's exactly the same as where someone doesn't understand.
Why would you spend so much money on that painting that looks like somebody just put a bunch
of squares and an eyeball over here and this over here is, well, it's because that's an $18 million
dollar Picasso.
And nobody understands why, but it is, you know, some people don't understand why.
And that's the same thing with clothing.
It's a lot of forever 21 jeans.
Yeah, I mean, it's the same thing with clothing.
You go in and someone's like, well, why did you spend, why, why does this cost so much?
Or why does it, well, it's because there's four of them, and it's handmade, and it takes nine months to make this skirt.
And because everything is hand-stone, hand-beated, hand-this, you know.
Next question.
When was the last time you experienced extreme wrath?
Rath?
Do you want me to define it for you?
Oh, Mr. Cocky.
one of the last time you were like really fucking angry
do you have a
do you have a temper probably when she
came and interrupted my podcast
oh I was like totally on a flow
and she came in and totally just pissed me on
sounds like you need a good therapist
I'm triggered easily
so many distractions
no I don't I don't really get
I don't know I don't get
are you like this is not the script I
Ask for.
No, no, I don't get mad.
No, I try to be, no, I don't know.
I guess you're very L.A.
What's that mean?
Do you meditate?
No.
Do you drink green juice?
No, I'm so not L.A. like that.
We're just naming L.A. things.
I'm like, what else do people do in L.A.?
She asked me about speaking earlier.
I'm just trying to understand the deeper soul of Drake.
Yeah.
When was the last...
Do you?
No.
I believed him.
When was the last time you were a sloth?
Watch my cute necklace.
Look at this fucking blinged-out necklace.
Isn't it gorge?
Gorge.
I'm obsessed.
So rock and roll.
When was the last time you were a lazy piece of shit?
Oh, I don't know.
I mean, I like to be.
Yeah, but I like to be lazy sometimes.
Because then do you wake up?
It depends.
You're such a man of mystery.
Depends on the tea time.
Do you golf?
Yeah, I love to be.
What's your handicap?
I, fuck it, I don't know.
Okay, then let's not talk about golf.
Wait, who's your favorite golfer?
But I golf a lot.
I don't have it.
You're like a retired old man, but also a rock and roller.
He's like one of them.
He's a great combo.
You can't be a rock and roll star and golf.
Yeah, you can't.
Don't tell people you golf.
Are you kidding me?
Dean Martin.
Dude.
Are you kidding me, Dean Martin?
That was like all of them.
They would golf all day and then they would hit the clubs at night.
I think you're making that up.
No, I'm not.
Dean Martin, check this out.
Don't point at me.
Listen to me.
Listen to me, damn it.
Don't make fun of my golfing.
No, Dean Martin would golf all week while everyone was at the show rehearsing,
and then he would show up on Friday night without any rehearsal and do the show.
Well, that sounds just cocky.
No, it's being a lazy piece of shit.
Engulfing instead of working.
When was the last time you let your pride get in the way of something?
So when was the last time you had an ego?
No, I mean, these are such questions.
Yeah, these are fucking good questions.
This isn't just your average TV show.
You need to ask somebody else these questions about me.
No, I want to ask you.
No, I don't have an ego.
Obviously, I would say, no, I don't have an ego.
I don't think I have an ego.
I don't know.
You're very defensive right now.
God, it sounds like someone's got an ego.
I don't have an ego.
Have you seen my necklace?
But the fact you can make fun of yourself is good.
Okay, final question.
When was the last time you lusted over someone besides me?
or do you have like a
present company excluded
yeah do you have a celebrity crush
I love that question
you know I like
I thought Camilla was pretty cute
Camilla Cabella
yeah who
Is that not her name
It certainly isn't
It's certainly not her name
Paige what's her name
It's Camilla Cabello
Yeah I'm like
Can I have a casadilla
I think she was pretty cute
I see that Sean
I guess Sean Mendez
Her to get her to get in now
I guess
Don't get upset
But yeah so my heart
So heartbroken
Yeah on that one
Yeah
You should do a Spanish song with her
That would be a great idea
I should be your manager
Like what am I even doing
I thought you were with that
I know
So Drake you've been amazing
To wrap this up, I ask all my guests one final question.
What advice do you have for people going through hell?
Like, how do you cope with your hell?
Because you've been in the industry a long-ass time and you're still here.
Barely, but you're still here.
Barely.
Hanging on.
Oh, by the skin of my teeth.
I may be on your last, you know, you may be on your last thread, but at least you're here.
Also, him from the very beginning of this podcast.
He came in, like, pepped up, positive.
Now he's like...
Now I just feel like shit.
Now I'm my career's hanging by a thread.
Try being her friend.
I'm barely, I'm barely hanging in.
He's all crouched over.
I'm gluttonous.
I'm envious.
Lazy piece of shit.
I have an ego.
What would my advice be to people going through hell?
Try to avoid this room.
if you see room B
pass it
we'll tear you down real quick
oh you want a real answer
yeah
I thought that was a great
that was a great and thank you
that was raising hell
good night everybody thank you
alright hey
Jake I know you've been through stuff
you've had Twitter Wars with Justin Bieber
you've not been invited
you've not been invited to Josh's wedding
But you've probably been through some dark times.
What advice do you give to people to get out of those dark times and to keep going?
What would I say?
I would say life is short.
Everything moves really, really fast.
You're going to turn around tomorrow and wish you were 17 again.
And so all of the problems that you're having right now and all the issues you're having right now are probably minute compared to what you're going to be dealing with.
So just take it all with a grain of salt.
let more roll off your back than you probably are right now.
You know, and also focus on the future.
Really, I mean, the future is, it's really important to, yeah, it's really important to live in the now and enjoy life.
But, you know, for example, you know, if you're 17, 18 years old, might not be the girlfriend that you're going to be with when you're 32.
So if that's completely consuming your world and affecting your job and, you know, family and friendships and things,
like that, you're going to look back at that and look at it as a lot of wasted time.
So, you know, and anything like that, you know, I would just say focus on, you know, if you're interested
in something, if you're into, you know, music or whatever job or technology or whatever
it is that you're into, focus on that because that's really going to be what's going to be
rewarding in the long run.
And also everything, life is an investment, you know, to think.
Things take time, you know, even though, and when someone says, oh, you know, in five years or in 10 years, you know, right now, it sounds like, oh, that is going to be so long from a 10 years from now.
How, and then all of a sudden, 15 years goes by and you go, oh, my God, if I would have just done what they told me and been working this, I would have had all of this time.
But now I'm starting here and, you know, you would have a jump on everybody else.
I just, you know, stuff like that.
I don't know.
That was great.
