Hi, it's Hannah Burner and Des Bishop.
Thanks for calling the Burner Phone.
If you leave a message after the tone, we may have to make it into a podcast.
Hello, our little dials and welcome to Burner Phone.
It's me and Nicole, aka Caroline.
I mean, honestly, the Caroline thing is really stuck.
Like a lot of people, when they message in, they bring up Caroline.
The Caroline, I think, is going to have to be your stage name.
I'm here in Tempe, Arizona.
well lit by the the sunlight is not directly coming into my bedroom but it's kind of bouncing off
the roof of uh i think it's cvs across the street and it's i have to say very happy with the lighting
here today like you're glowing better than better than studio lighting um i flew in this
i am a little tired i don't like complaining about being tired but i had to get a very early morning
flight and uh i flew here today and uh it's been about an hour
and a half since I arrived because we organized this.
I was thinking, oh, I'll have
two and a half hours from when I land to get prepared.
But actually, what do I know?
Phoenix, Arizona is on like mountain time.
I thought it was Pacific time.
It's only two hours behind.
So actually, I only had an hour and a bit.
So I had a quick coffee.
And here we are.
Life on the road.
For those that are wondering,
I'm back.
This is really.
really honestly, I've had some shows. I've done a few gigs, a few in Florida during the latter
part of the summer. I had one in Minnesota, but I did, I do feel like today is the proper
beginning of my tour here in Tempe, Arizona, sold out show. Then tomorrow night I was supposed
to have two sold-out shows in Pasadena, the Ice House, and they were canceled by the venue. Did I
tell you about that? Yeah. Did I tell you about that? That's brutal. Off air.
canceled by the venue, very annoying.
So I apologize if anyone was expecting to go to those shows.
And then I'm in Irvine.
But all this will have been passed by the time you guys listed.
Anyway, I'm very excited because this is the beginning of a more consistent run of shows.
I did have a thought before we start.
Today's prompt, by the way, was you guys messaging in for future prompts.
Which, of course, it's fun because we can discuss the actual prompt ourselves, Nicole.
But then we will.
So my mission is that.
at the end, you will pick your favorite for next week's prompt.
Are you, can you handle the pressure?
Why not?
I guess so.
What if it's not your favorite?
Okay, we can have a, how about, we have a consultation.
Maybe we say it at the same time, yeah.
We count down and say our favorite at the same time.
We write it down.
I, I, I have a funny feeling that we're both going to say the same one,
But I also have had an advanced look at the prompts.
So, but anyway, before we start, and don't forget, if you want to message in, it's
9-1-7-5-1-2-17-8, and I might as well read out the WhatsApp, getting some complaints from people
about not playing enough WhatsApps, which actually, I fucking did it again, you know.
But they get their own segment.
We're getting, we're going to do some mystery WhatsApps today.
Remind me, okay?
We're doing some mystery WhatsApps because I did actually.
So by the way, just in case anyone thinks I'm being bad with the WhatsApps,
WhatsApps, actually, when you save them, they save in a file format that does not work with our,
the thing that we use.
So I have to download them.
Then I have to convert them into an MP3.
So I kind of like, I forget to do that sometimes.
But anyway, the WhatsApp number is 646-4-24-2-370-20.
Anyway, before we start, a lot of fear about modern technology.
And here's the truth.
I have a lot of concerns about AI.
And there's an article, I think, in the New York Times about the fact that people, it's coming up in therapy now, like AI anxiety is like a real thing.
But I also think that many times throughout history, there have been concerns like this and we have adapted.
Now, I'm not saying we're definitely going to adapt.
I'm not saying that this doesn't have the potential to be.
bigger than the previous concerns that we've had.
However, what I will say is the adaptation period won't be as quick as people think.
You know, like, I think there'll be a lot of pain.
And what reminded me of this is we still haven't adapted from regular USB to USBC.
Because on the plane and in this hotel, there's all these poor, unfortunate USB, regular USB sockets that are now completely fucking.
obsolete and all these hotels did that thinking they were like cutting edge and american airlines
and delta they all did it thinking they were cutting edge and now it just looks fucking old and
dated you know so it's not going to be as quick as people think that's all i'm saying
r ip to the usb and i know that there's still how annoyed nico are you when you buy some
gadget and it's still a fucking a USB plug.
Yeah, that still definitely happens.
Like, there's certain things that I get where it's like great.
I don't know if I have a block anywhere to,
I'm like using two blocks for like 10 different products to be able to plug them into
the wall.
Yes.
It's very annoying.
And by the way,
can I also point out something that's not going to, the women that listen to this podcast,
maybe you won't identify or maybe there's a similar contraption that you guys use.
Why do shivers, men's electrical shavers, why does every fucking brand have to have a different fucking input thing?
The amount of shavers I've lost the fucking plug to, I can't.
Shaver companies, shame on you.
Shame on you.
Is there anything women use that's like that?
I feel like the plug is connected to a lot of your contraptions.
just judging on Hannah's hair stuff.
Yeah, it's already kind of like baked in.
But so it's not like a USB.
I would think it was a USBC for the shape or things.
Well, hopefully, well, you would think that.
But I don't own one USBC one.
I got one.
I can show you because I brought one because I have to do a photo.
It's like a miscellaneous plug.
It's not even, yeah, it's like a fucking plug for a fucking,
like a radio in 1995.
Input.
It's in, it's in my.
suitcase. Forget it. Doesn't matter. I believe you. It's okay.
So anyone
get back to me if they know what's going on with that.
Yeah, these are
these are the big issues of the day.
Today is your prompt
suggestions and at the end we will be
picking one.
So let's have one. Nicole.
Hey, so this is for the
prompts about prompts. I'm going to go real low on this one.
I want to hear your
stories about
public body function fails.
I'm talking pee in yourself, pooping yourself, throwing up in public.
Ideally, all of these things occur when you're sober.
If we have to, it can be a, hey, I was drunk and I did this.
But I personally, I think that those stories are really funny,
and we can all learn that maybe we're a little bit less alone.
Okay.
Have you ever chat yourself while you're actually?
exercising? Many times. Oh, really? Yes. Many times. Yes. I recently was diagnosed and medicated for IBS. Um, so, you know, it's not normal to feel like you're going to shit your pants every day. And I'm, you know, this is new news to me. So it's definitely, it's definitely happened. Actually, you know, now that I think about it, I don't know if any of it has been mid exercise. It's definitely, exercise is definitely triggered it, but there have been like many times where I've like, like,
shat my pants just in public.
Really?
Yeah.
The only time I really properly shapped my pants in public was like, I don't know,
I was like 12 or 13 and we were on like a long walk.
That doesn't count.
12 or 13.
You can still share your story, but like you're like a child.
Like I feel like this is more of a question for like if you're like 25 plus in public sober.
No, actually, it's more embarrassing when you're a teenager because you really give a shit
about what people think.
you think I didn't care when I shat myself on the way to work?
You think I didn't care?
I had to walk like three blocks.
Okay, share your story.
I didn't mean to invalidate you.
You shamed it.
You shamed my story.
You shamed my story.
I stand with you.
Tell me your story.
No, I just, I shat my fucking pants.
And I was with people.
So I was just like, guys, I just got to go home for a sec.
And I like separate.
Because the thing was that we were at a family party in somebody else's house.
five blocks away.
But me, some of the younger kids, you know, like us, like at that age, we were like hanging out
doing other shit, you know, being bold as you would at that age.
But I was like halfway between my house and their house.
I was like, oh, guys, I forgot something at home.
I got to go home.
Like trying to get away from them before the brown started showing through my fucking shorts
because I was actually wearing white, I was wearing white short.
It was a full poop.
No, this was like a, this was a full poop in my pants.
A solid poop?
I got home.
It wasn't, a solid one wouldn't have been an issue.
Yeah.
But it wasn't, you know, it wasn't the full.
Wait, but what are the circumstances of this?
Like, were you not feeling well?
Did it just take you by surprise?
Was it a fart?
No, it was, it was just like I thought, honestly, I think what I did was, I think I actually
separated, let me, let me evaluate my story because now that you're asking, it's a good,
that's a good question.
I think what happened was I decided that I wasn't going to make it back.
So I said, guys, I got to go back.
So I think what happened was I was trying to make it back after separating from them.
And I didn't make it.
That actually makes more sense.
And because the end of the story, which I remember absolutely correct, it was I shit my, they were white shorts.
And it was like, in my mind when I was walking home, people couldn't tell I shat myself.
But when I got home, the back of my pants were entirely brown.
But nobody had, I didn't encounter anybody.
buddy, luckily.
But it stayed contained to your shorts because that's kind of a flex.
Yeah, well, I was wearing underwear.
Like, it hadn't started like, because it wasn't full liquid, you know?
I mean, what dog doesn't love a poop story?
She's getting really excited.
It's one of her favorite foods.
So, anyway, I'll keep talking while the dog barks.
So I, um, I made it home, but I heard.
had to, so I didn't have other white shorts. So I wore like these faded yellow shorts and headed
back to the party after like cleaning myself up and hoped nobody noticed. And nobody did notice
that I had changed my shorts. That's huge. If you're able to go undetected, I mean, that's kind
of best case scenario because you shot yourself with no one. And it ended up being no one around.
You made it home, you got to change. Yes. Yes. And went back like nothing happened.
But I was ashamed. I couldn't believe. I really.
was like of the opinion that post sort of three years old you don't shit yourself anymore so I was
yeah that's a fair belief it's it's really I mean you really hope that's true but it comes for us all
yeah I mean I haven't would you believe since then I haven't like properly shot myself but I have
exercise wise I have pooped in in numerous odd situations like running or something yeah running and
just like finding weird spots to poop once I'm
my way. I got off the bus. I was going back to boarding school in Ireland, got off the train or the
bus, whichever motor transport I was taking. And I was on the last block before you head into the
back gate of the school. And I was just like, I'm not going to make it. And I fucking, I dropped one on
like the sidewalk. Yeah. Have you ever done that? Yeah. On the sidewalk? Totally. I did it. I did it.
I did it on the side of the canal in London. Oh, beautiful. I was just like, I was just like, I was just,
I did it in the grass, but I was just hoping, like, nobody could see me, and I just,
I just pop one quick.
I mean, I've, I've had to do it numerous times, but I haven't actually properly shot myself
since that day.
So what, what you said in numerous times, like, I did say that.
Yeah, I think, like, the biggest one of all time was, I was, I lived in Brooklyn,
and I went into Manhattan to meet a friend for coffee.
this was probably like 20-21, so we were like starting to meet up with people again.
I don't know if like things being closed played a factor in this, but it was like on the weekend.
At the time I was drinking pretty exclusively red eyes.
So just like too much, way too much coffee.
And I think I had maybe two of them and no food.
And then we walked around and then I was like, all right, like see you later and went to get my train home.
And the second I went into the station, I'm like, oh my gosh.
I have to poop so bad.
And I'm like, well, I just wait until I get home.
And then eventually I was like, oh, no, I totally can't wait until I get home.
And I left to go find a bathroom.
Starbucks closed.
No, no, it was like in kind of like financial area where there's like, there's like no
bathrooms.
Not good.
And I lived in Bushwick.
So I'm like, well, it's going to take me like 40 plus minutes to get home.
So I was like fighting for my life on the train.
Also, this almost never happens to me, but I was pacing on the tracks, like waiting for
or like on the platform waiting for the train to come.
And a guy came up to me and was like, hey, like, do you have the time?
I was like, no, I don't know.
Sorry.
I'm, you know, I'm in a cold sweat at this point.
And he was like, where are you going?
Like, can I come with you?
And I was like, I'm going to shit my pants.
Like, I don't get hit on in public, almost never.
I'm like, this guy is hitting on me and I'm like, I'm truly about to shit my pants.
And I wish in that moment I wasn't so freaked out that I was going to shit my pants
that I could have just said, hey, man, I'm going to shit my pants because that would have been, like, the best deterrent to get him away for me.
So, yeah, I was fighting for my life the whole way home.
I kept kind of, like, looking out into every station to be, like, can I poop behind the garbage can?
Like, is there somewhere that I could just poop?
Like, this is the most poop in public place of all time where you're just in the station and there's just shit.
Like, human shit.
So I was like, I could blend in.
Like, I could definitely find a place to blend in.
but, yeah, I kept frantically looking.
And then we got to my stop and I was like, I can't believe I made it this far.
And I was like a five minute walk away from home and just completely shit my pants.
Like also wearing, also wearing white shorts.
Wow.
And at that point, I was like, I think the whole time, too, I was telling myself my body will not betray me.
My body won't let me poop myself.
Like it just won't.
It doesn't work like that.
I'll make it to the bathroom.
and then it's the craziest sensation if you haven't shit your pants because it just happens.
It's like, it's like it just releases it.
Yeah, so I was like, what the hell do I do?
What did you do?
I like initially was like hiding between two cars and like I called Chris, but at the time he lived in Boston.
I was like, I don't even know what to do right now.
Like I'm so close to home.
I don't know what to do.
And eventually what I did was I ended up just like taking my shirt.
shirt off and tying it around my waist and sprinted fully sprinting home.
And then I just had to like put my whole body and clothes in the shower and wash everything like
a million times.
It was like the most brutal thing of all time.
I was like, how did that happen?
Because it wasn't even like anyone who tries to tell me a story of them shitting their pants.
And it's just like a little splat moment where it's like, oh, there was a fart.
I'm like, that is not even close to shitting your pants.
No, yeah, you probably should.
shit yourself. No, it was like three or four poops worth. That's, that's like not okay.
I like should have gone to the doctor. You didn't, you didn't think like, fuck it, I'm just
dropping my pants. Like, because I've been in that situation, but I just like, I just give up.
I just drop my pants. I genuinely didn't think I was going to shit my pants. Like I, I, I didn't want to.
People will just go, oh, she's crazy. You know, I'd rather have people be like, like, this person has
lost their mind, then like, shit my pants.
I guess, but now, I didn't, I genuinely didn't think that I would shit my pants.
And also, I have such a deep fear that someone is going to film me and post it online and be
like, look at this chick, like, shitting her pants.
Or like, she's shit her pants.
Look, she's shitting.
And then someone's like, oh my gosh, is that Nicole Lyons?
That's literally my worst fear is to be taken advantage of what I'm vulnerable.
Yeah, I have to say, a lot of.
lot of my pooping moments were like not in the age of social media.
Yes, you were free.
Like, there was nothing to worry about.
You could say someone was lying if they saw you.
Now it's like there's 50 Instagram stories of you shitting your pants.
You know, Killion Murphy one time, he's so private, you know.
But like, I don't know, they were at some celebration.
And so he just ended up like back out.
alley behind a pub, like just taking a leak, like not a big deal.
But a fucking, somebody caught him, took a picture and it ended up in the tabloids.
And you know what the headline was?
You know what the headline was?
No, what?
Leaky blinders.
That's fun.
That's really fun.
Also, who hasn't peed drunk behind a bar?
Oh, I mean, come on.
Let the man live.
Exactamundo.
Exactamundo.
But what would the headline be for, like, if you were famous and you were like
shooting yourself?
Like, what's the headline for for Billy Elish shitting?
I don't know.
I'm only kidding.
So anyway, that's, I didn't, I didn't think we were going to start with such, such a pooperama.
But it's okay.
This, this is a poop positive podcast.
So let's, uh, let's, let's take another.
Oh, by the way, that's in the running.
I'm going to say probably not, but I'm not going to rate them as we go along.
But it was fun.
I don't, I don't like that it's bodily function.
Like, it leaves it.
too open for other things that I'm like, maybe we could talk it like, shit your pants
stories only, but I'm too scared of what else that could hold, you know?
Yes. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Let's, uh, all right, let's take another.
World Mental Health Day takes place in October, making it a meaningful time to reflect on
the importance of prioritizing mental health. It's a good time to talk about Rula.
As you know, Burnaphone began as a mental health comedy podcast. Mental Health has always
been the kind of core important issue on Burnaphone. And in this very episode, whether you've
gotten there or not, I talk about how I had a difficult adolescence, kicked out of school,
alcohol, stuff like that, bullying, you know? And when I was 19 years old, and I stopped drinking,
I found it difficult to find therapy. And I would have loved the opportunity to have been able
to find an online therapy platform like Rula, to make it simple to get access.
to a quality mental health professional.
But hey, it's all well and good to talk about mental health.
You need to take action, but sometimes action can be hard
because a lot of online therapy platforms don't accept insurance.
Rula does things differently.
They partner with over 120 insurance plans making the average copay
just $15 per session.
Real therapy from licensed professionals at a price that actually makes sense.
Because the whole point of World Mental Health Day is making sure people actually get help,
not just think about it.
World Mental Health Day is your reminder to finally take that.
step. It's one of the easiest ways to actually follow through. No waitless, no frustrating back and
forth. Appointments can be available as soon as tomorrow. Go to Rula.com slash burn to get started
today. That's Rula. R-U-L-A dot com slash burn for quality therapy that's covered by insurance.

So this is really for the parents out there. The parents out there, you got to try Hunger

Two prompts ideas, not one but two for you.
Oh.
It is craziest vacation story or funny and silliest things that happen on vacation.
Craziest injury on vacation, something of that nature.
Or, and this is my favorite, wildest ER story, say this pod were to get played, this prompt.
I would tell you about the time I swallowed a spoon.
So please pick that one because it's a funny story.
And I send a story in the WhatsApp with an explanation of the message
and then the employer would have been a fucking fire one.
I'm Canadian, by the way.
So hopefully long distance charges don't apply.
Anyway, I'm on my dad's phone plan.
Love you guys.
Damn.
So somewhere in my WhatsApp is a story about the spoon.
Now I want the spoon story, but I don't know how to find it.
But what was she?
Why did she initially tell us the spoon story?
Like what prompted her to tell that in the first place, which I have so many questions.
Well, she can send in the Spoon story.
Yeah.
I guess, you know what I could do?
I could go back into the Google Voice and find her number and then find it in the WhatsApp.
But what I did think, I did, we would be in the running craziest ER stories because, I mean, obviously worst vacation accident for me was tearing my ACL, but we don't need to.
go back in we don't need to go back into that story.
Although I did, I ever tell you this?
I had a jet skiing accident.
Did I ever tell you that?
I don't think so.
Yeah, this was the luckiest.
Like, honestly, I've never been luckier in all my life.
I was jet skiing in Puerto Rico, my cousin, Sal, way back in the day.
I'd never been to Puerto Rico.
I'd never been on a jet ski for that matter.
And, you know, you can rent the jet skis or whatever wave runners.
And, you know, you just go back and forth on the beach.
And I was whipping along.
And then I went to turn.
And these fucking assholes were like right behind me.
And they, when I turned, they slammed right into me.
But luckily, they went over my legs.
Had they had they hit another part of my body, I could have been dead.
Like, they hit me full whack.
Whoa.
And somehow I didn't break anything.
I just had like bruising.
I just had like the worst, like, dead leg of all time.
Wow.
That's crazy.
But coincidentally enough.
I guess I was in shock.
So I felt all right.
But then later that night, like hours and hours later, we went to a casino.
And in the casino, I said to my cousin, I was like, dude, I think I'm going to faint.
And I was like, bring me to the bathroom.
And he like just got me to the bathroom.
And I fainted on the toilet seat, but also like unloaded.
Coincidentally enough.
Back to the theme of the first one.
But I fainted.
And, yeah, so that was, that could have been the worst one.
But it wasn't.
Thank God.
That's terrible.
That's so crazy.
Yeah, I don't, I don't think I have, my brother.
I haven't been on a jet ski since, by the way.
I definitely wouldn't.
Yeah, that's scarring.
I never got hurt in vacation, but as kids, my brother got hurt on every single vacation we went on without, like, without fail, every single time he got hurt.
It was never anything that serious, but it was like,
One vacation, he, like, walked into a pole.
One, he walked through a glass door.
One, he fell out of the car and bumped his head on the ground.
Like, one, he ran into a table.
Like, there's every single time we were little kids, he would get hurt every single vacation we went on.
That's boys.
Boys taking risks, you know?
So what, what's your, I don't, what, do you have a crazy ER story?
Not really.
I mean, I've, like, the biggest injuries I ever had were my knees.
Other than that, I, like, I haven't done anything.
I did get like kidney stones once and thought that I was maybe going to have to go to the ER,
but I passed them myself.
You did?
And I went to urgent care.
And they're like, yeah, I guess you probably had them.
But like, there's nothing we can really do at this point.
Good for you.
You got it out.
My craziest ER story is not related to me, but my poor father who, you know, it turned out he had cancer, but we didn't know at the time.
So it was Halloween 2009, October 31st, 2009.
I was dressed as the cat in the hat.
Because we took my nephew, Kieran, to Central Park Zoo.
So I got dressed up as a cat in the hat.
And then, you know, normally I'm not back in New York for Halloween, actually.
Normally, but it was the week after I ran the Dublin Marathon.
And I was like, I just, for whatever reason, I went back to visit the fam.
So I was really enjoying the trick-or-treating.
So I stayed, I kept my cat-in-the-hat suit on, right?
and I was like doing the trick-or-treating.
But I guess I was probably like jet-lagged.
So at like 6 o'clock I went for a nap.
My dad had been complaining all day that he wasn't feeling well.
But like when I woke up, my cousin was there and she was a nurse.
And she was like, he's got to go to the hospital.
So we took my dad to the emergency room.
And a few days later we would discover that like it was a fatal cancer diagnosis.
But at the time, we just didn't know what was wrong with him.
And the poor guy was in the emergency room all night.
And the next day, he was like, that was the worst night of my life.
Because, fuck it, it was Halloween.
People were coming in and you couldn't tell if it was real blood or fake blood.
And they were all shouting.
Anyway, never go to the emergency room on Halloween.
That was the craziest emergency room story I ever had.
I haven't really had anything else.
But that's in the running.
Yeah, that is.
I mean, I thought you were going to say you showed up dresses the cat in the hat at the hospital.
No, you know what had happened?
I decided to have a nap because I was worn out from the day of being the cat in the hat
and like performing for everybody that came to the door.
And I was a little jet lag.
So I had like a early evening nap.
And then I, yeah, I, yeah, anyway, we took my dad to hospital.
It was actually, it's funny because I wrote a book.
My dad was in the James Bond about my dad, but also about my son.
but the opening chapter is about the day that I was dressed in the cat and the hat.
There's actually a picture of myself, my mother and my nephew, as the cat in the hat.
So really that day dressed as the cat in the hat was really the beginning of a major life
change.
I would consider that day to have been like the last, it was like, you know, you have your
childhood, you have your adolescence, and then, you know, you have your adulthood.
And like my early adulthood was, you know, it was very successful.
I found a career early on that I adored.
I never felt like I was working.
And then somewhat quickly, like within seven years,
I had like what could be considered like huge success as a stand-up comedian.
So like my early career, my early adult life, that phase ended that day.
I was dressed as a cat in the hat.
And then I went into the sort of like looking after my parents phase of my life.
which was actually essentially a decade.
So, but I know I always bring up death.
I didn't mean to, but that's the pod that it is.
Let's take it.
Let's take another.
Hey, guys.
Hey, Nicole, love the pod.
So I'm calling in for suggestions for prompt requests.
Something that I think that would be a good prompt request or prompt would be the
craziest thing that you've done for love, positive or negative outcomes, or
crazier, odd jobs that people have
had in the past.
Thanks a mind.
I mean, both of those are good suggestions.
The one that stuck out for me when I was reading them was
the craziest thing you've done for love,
which, you know, I would consider that to be a high candidate.
I don't really, I mean, I don't know
the craziest thing I've done for love, but I mean,
I've done some dumb things like in the sort of like infatuation
phase, you know?
I think you can really make some, you could,
make some dumb decisions during the infatuation period.
Yeah, I definitely, I feel like as many women have pretended to like a lot of stuff that I didn't like.
Yeah, that's Hannah's like, that's a big, that's one of Hannah's favorite topics.
Well, you know, things you've done for, things you pretended to like for a guy.
Yeah.
Because her joke is skiing.
Yeah, and then your husband breaks his leg, tears his ACL.
Yeah, she fucking.
So she cursed me, to be honest with you.
Or maybe that gave her the ick.
Do you have one of the, do you have one of the, well, I'll tell you what gave me the
ick when she, when she fucking, like, vaguely hurt her wrists on a fucking green and tells
the story like she was fucking lost in the back country.
And then it turned out to just be like a mild wrist sprain, you know?
So, anyway, about, uh,
Easy out in Whistler in case anybody was wondering which run she was on.
So do you have something you pretended to like for a guy?
I mean, definitely all sorts of things.
I feel like sports is definitely a big one that comes to mind, pretending to care about sports.
I'd really have to rack my brain because I don't do this anymore.
But for sure did it a lot.
Yeah.
that's definitely more of a
Like for music
Certain music
I would say for sure
Right
For men
Because men are horrible
Obviously
I think men
The theme for men
Which is really not the comedy
Of this podcast
Would probably be like
Like how
How many
Like how much of a bad personality
Did you ignore
Because you just wanted to
You know
Like
Be with them physically
You know
But that that's like, as, you know, I feel like that's like not, it's not, I don't, I don't like that type of comedy and I also don't like that type of conversation, you know?
But I think that's the, that's the male equivalent.
But so much of that is, what?
Both of those things are like male centered, like they're really for y'all not, like we pretend to like something that you like, so that you like us.
And then you just are like, yeah, I don't really like her, but I'm going to pretend that I'm going to pretend that's not going.
on so we can fall. Yeah. That's, yeah. That's, that, that's why I'm saying it's like not my,
it's not my vibe. But I feel like that's like, that's the, the locker room jokes that
men would, that men would be made. Yeah. Yeah. This is a safe space. We're not worried about it.
Okay. So, uh, I'm trying to think of what the, what the, I don't know, like, do men, I guess,
no, honestly, in the infatuation phase, I would say some men, you know what I'd say,
men probably like hid so many of their like beliefs from women in the early phase to try to keep them like keep them liking them yeah you know what I mean yeah I feel like that's always like a recipe for disaster like guys guys like hiding the fact that they're like you know friends with some fucking asshole that nobody likes or what who knows but anyway the craziest thing you did for love I think is a good topic um
What else is there?
What was the other side of her thing?
Odd jobs.
Odd jobs.
I think we actually did do that before
because I feel like we've told some of those stories.
But anyway, it's in the running.
Craziest thing you've done for love.
Like I remember, I've had times,
definitely one time that stands out in my mind
where I met somebody,
but I was leaving for like a long period of time.
But I met them like one time.
because she meets somebody one time.
You're like, wow, she's amazing.
You know?
And then, so then I was like, hey, I'll fly you over.
I flew her over to where I was going to be.
And, like, within a day, we did not get on at all.
And then you're fucking stuck with this person.
Yeah.
And in the end, we just, we were like not talking, you know?
It was like, it was so awkward, man.
It was so awkward.
So that was the craziest thing, not that I did for love,
but just crazy thing I did thinking that it was for love.
of love, yeah.
Yeah, the prospect of love.
Yeah.
Have you ever, have you ever, like, done something crazy, like, early on in a relationship,
traveled with a guy and felt stuck?
Not really, because, I don't know, I feel like I was, I don't know, I'm not someone
who is brave enough to, like, I'm very grateful I'm not part of the current dating scene
and having to meet people this way.
even in like college I struggled with that scene because I really need to know somebody before I'm like dating or hooking up with somebody.
I don't like the idea of, I don't know, I've never been someone to get really like whisked away and do some crazy shit right at the beginning.
So not really.
Like I know that's lame, but.
No, it's fine.
I was just curious.
You know, actually, I was feeling a little guilty about what I was saying earlier, but now I realize I think Hannah has a version.
of the joke and I think I think Dickley Glazer also has a version of a joke about how like I think
Hannah's joke was something along the lines of uh the amount of time I will like tolerate nonsense
like guys nonsense is is equally proportionate to his height right so actually I don't know why I was
I was feeling quite guilty but it's really it's really a joke that could be made on either side
what I was talking about there earlier yeah you know so like if a guy's tall like you'll deal
with his nonsense for a little bit longer, you know.
So let's take another.
We've got a few in the running here.
Hi, Burnerphone.
I'm calling in for the prompt of sending in prompt suggestions.
So I have two that I can think of.
One, I guess you would call it like happy accidents or something,
like something that's happened in your life that you didn't expect that just changed
the entire trajectory of your life or like you thought that your life was going one way and then
something happened and like aha moment or something and now like you're doing something you'd never
thought that you do something like that um another one i have is like something that you've like
gotten as a gift or purchased that you can't live without or like if you lost it you'd need to
immediately replace it.
Love the podcast.
Bye.
Well, the first part of this,
I mean, maybe, I don't know if I have more than other people or I,
or maybe people,
everyone immediately thinks of a thousand things,
but I have so many,
whether they're happy accidents or not,
but just like consequential,
like happenstance that I have had some huge ones.
I will go through them, but do you have any that come to mind immediately?
Obviously, life is random, so I know that we all have them.
I feel like there's a lot of like little things, but it's not like, it doesn't feel like they were super magical.
I do definitely like try and take time a lot to sit in the fact like, oh, I can't believe I'm living at the same time as these people and I like work with these people and I'm doing this thing.
and if this little like butterfly effect type stuff,
like if this little thing didn't happen,
like then all this other stuff wouldn't happen.
But it was never something like,
I don't know,
I feel like it was stuff that played out over the course of like a period of time
rather than like one day I woke up and this thing happened.
And I'm like, I should quit my job.
Like I feel like it wasn't anything magical like that.
But what do you have?
Well, the major one for me is,
so obviously, you know,
the story is I got kicked out of St. Francis' script.
But in actual fact, I just flunked out of St. Francis Prep.
And if you really want to know, I was getting severely, I was getting bullied.
Actually, I ended up falling foul of one group in school, but then I actually had like a falling out more like an isolation incident with my previous group of friends who had gone to another school.
And then they kind of like, they kind of cast me out.
So I had like, unfortunately at the same time, two bullying incidents.
So, and on top of that, I had my own issues that I couldn't blame on other people, like drink.
and just like just being silly. But more importantly, as a result of the stress of that and then my
own chaos, I just like, I had no interest in school. And I was like, I was kind of like duping everybody.
I was duping my parents that I was doing my homework. And I was just like falling behind.
Anyway, long story short, I flunked out of St. Francis Prep. I wasn't like cast as I'm like,
your behavior is crazy. It was just like, if you fail more than two subjects, you're not allowed
back. I wasn't like, it was just like I got the letter in the mail at my report card and the report
I'd had the information, right?
So I got kicked out, but a lot of those stressors that I was talking about had actually
kind of like resolved themselves by the time the summer had come.
So that kind of stress had been alleviated.
But I was in summer school because even though I was trying to figure out where I was going
to go to school, I was in summer school just for English and math.
I couldn't make up all the credits because you can only make up too.
But I was in summer school for English and math.
and it just so happens that my cousin was visiting from Ireland at the time my cousin Fiona who had
visited us for a couple of years she would visit us before heading off to Cape Cod to do some work
during the summer and she was helping with my math homework she was probably like seven years
older than me I was 14 she was helping with my math homework and my mother was like stressed
out about where I was going to go to school and she said maybe
you should go to boarding school in Ireland.
And I was like, wow, what a great idea.
And I said to my parents, I was like, I should go to boarding school in Ireland.
And they were very dismissive of it at first.
But then Fiona called her parents and got her parents researching it.
And six weeks later, I went to Ireland.
And like, that idea never entered anybody's mind in our house.
Like, I'd never been to Ireland.
Like, my mother hadn't been to Ireland since, like, the 1950s.
Like, you know, my dad obviously had like more, like living in Ireland experience, but like, it never entered my dad.
My dad's head to go to school in Ireland.
It was all from this random suggestion from Fiona who happened to be helping with my homework.
And had she not made that suggestion, I have no idea where, what my life would have been like.
Because I had an entirely different life from my two brothers because of that moment.
That's pretty wild.
That is crazy.
Did you get a chance to like talk to her about those feelings?
I mean, I was back, you know, I lost touch with the trainers.
That was my cousins, you know, because like, so the crazy thing was that Fiona's mom was my father's first cousin, right?
So my dad and Fiona's mother were like they're quite close to connected.
But obviously Fiona's the next generation.
So Fiona's my second cousin, right?
But I was living with them, you know?
So it's wild.
Like I was living with them at the.
weekends, going to boarding school during the week and living with them, these random people that
I'd never known. But we were very close back then. But like in, you know, in adulthood, comedy,
I checked in with them a few times, but like we haven't kept in touch, kind of sadly, really.
But anyway, at a time where I would have like been more aware of the, the randomness of that,
I haven't seen them. And when I was younger, like, I was just kind of like, I was just, you know,
being a teenager, you know, when I used to see them more.
And in actual fact, one of the reasons why we lost touch a little bit was because I didn't really,
academically I really improved when I went to Ireland, but my drinking ways didn't change.
And unfortunately, they fell victim to some of my drinking scheming.
I was like sneaking out of their house and they caught me one time.
And I think they just kind of had enough.
I think they just were like, ah, we didn't sign up for this.
Yeah.
You know, by the way, they had five children.
Right. And they were all older than me except for the one that one daughter that was younger than me.
So they'd been through this way too many times to add another fucking, you know,
teenager scoundrel and they're the shenanigans that they get up to. So after that, you know,
we weren't as close, truth be told. Anyway, uh, that, that, that's a, a biggie, I feel.
But obviously, I feel like Hannah and I is pretty like, that's a,
pretty like random thing of like obviously there is a there's a sequence of events that that lead up to
it but like okay let's do hannah's one did hannah know that before she even thought of stand-up comedy
before she even thought about making videos you know because hana hana's like entertainment career
people always think it started with summerhouse but no she was actually making videos for betches
so Hannah was making content actually way before a lot of the fucking comedians that make content now they love pointing out oh they haven't been doing comedy that long but actually the thing that matters in this business is content production and Hannah was way ahead of the game anyway Hannah was doing before even she got that job in Betches when she was just like miserable and like some like low level marketing job after deciding that she wasn't going to be a professional tennis.
player, right? So she's like, doesn't know what she's doing
with her life. They go on a work night to the comedy
cellar, like just a random night. And who's
on stage? Only yours truly. And Hannah always tells the story
that she was like, oh, he's cute, but it's a pity he lives in Ireland.
You know, so she discounted it. And then
all these years later, she pops up on Nikki Glazer's story
and I follow her, probably because I thought she was cute,
followed her, didn't like, didn't reach out or anything, just followed her.
But I did not know that she followed me back.
But she had immediately, because when I followed her, she went, oh, that's that comedian from Ireland
that was on at the comedy cellar.
So she followed me back straight away.
I didn't even know this.
And then, obviously then during the pandemic, when I saw she was near me, I saw she was
following me and I reached out.
But that's a few things.
But the random moment is probably the fact that she happened to see me.
and then years later we would be married.
Yeah. But the big one is the, and I have others,
but the big one is my cousin Fiona, I think.
Yeah, I mean, that's crazy that that happens.
Like your whole, especially because you can kind of go side by side with your siblings
and be like, this is the path I went down.
Just seeing that you have different lives, like what your life would have been.
If you didn't go there, it's crazy to think about.
That's why Dark Matter is such a fucking good series, man.
If you're not watching Dark Matter after this conversation, you should.
Because, like, honestly, like, people always say, like, would you think you'd be a comedian?
Like, I don't know if I would have became a comedian if I hadn't moved to Ireland.
Like, I don't know.
I may have.
Yeah.
I may have.
There was definitely some other factors other than the random things that led me to being a comedian in Ireland.
You know, there was some desire there, I guess, or performance.
performance, but I don't know because it was an Irish guy that got me into it, a guy in recovery,
you know, so who knows? It's really, really hard to say. Life is very random, though.
Do you, are you someone who subscribes to the belief of like everything happens for a reason?
No. I, I, I, I think that life is random. Yeah. I think is life, I know people hate,
they don't want to agree with me and that's fine. But I, I think that we,
often shy away from the reality of the randomness of life.
And I think part of the reason why we say everything happened for a reason is because we're
always trying to make it make sense.
But I actually think that life is random and it's how we're reacting to the randomness.
You know, like there's so much of it that lacks order.
I know that we've understood how to sort of like order society and make things as predictable
as possible.
But still life is like there's just so much random.
randomness to it. Like, for example, somebody was pointing this out recently. It was actually
Richard Dawkins. I just happened to get into like a Richard Dawkins' TikTok whole. If you
don't know him, he wrote the God delusion, very public atheist. Maybe it wasn't even him. Maybe it was
somebody else. Maybe it was Ricky Jervais. But somebody was talking about the fact that, oh, no,
did we talk about this already about 9-11? What about it?
I think I actually was talking about it with Bradley and John on the other pockets. So like,
And all these 9-11 videos, there's always people in the videos for the miracle survival
stories.
There's always people in the videos that'll be like, that was God that was there for them.
And it's like, so what about the other 3,000?
What about the other 3,000 people, you know?
And it's like, by the way, I don't think they're saying something bad.
I'm just saying that like people want to believe that there's a force at work sometimes
when there's just not.
It's just random, you know?
And like most likely that survival story like that one guy,
the fucking whole building collapsed on it,
he just happened to be in some weird lucky spot
where he fucking survived.
A couple of people like that.
You know, there was a woman too.
They survived.
It's fucking crazy, you know?
But anyway, I just, I'm not getting into God stuff,
but I just, what I am saying is,
I think people discredit the randomness of life way more than it's obvious that that's what's going on.
In my opinion.
In my horum, that's a Irish language, you know, when you're in school learning the Irish language,
it's like when you're going to do the oral Irish, it's like one of those like begin your sentence.
Like, in my opinion.
Anyway, so I, I, I'm not going to push anything.
I would say that's a good prompt suggestion now.
I'm not going to suggest a prompt, but anyway, go ahead.
Let's take another.
Hey, Nicole.
I feel like a wedding season is just ending, or at least I've had like two in the past month.
And I think a fun prompt would be what's like the most unhinged thing you've seen at a wedding.
Okay.
Thanks.
So, you know, wedding stuff gets suggested a lot.
But what I liked about this suggestion was we've never discussed like that, the most unhinged thing you've seen in a wedding.
And it's interesting for me because that would be one where I would be looking forward to hearing because I haven't seen anything that crazy.
But I know crazy shit goes down.
Yeah, it definitely gives you like a real insight into people's like relationship dynamics and their.
communities how they are with their family and yeah so i can't say i've seen anything like truly
unhinged but there's definitely been somewhere i'm like what is going on here like or even
dissecting people's speeches i'm like this is like freaky what they're saying about their
you know their relatives i love the speech i love the speeches so much i just like and even
though during the horrible speeches i'm cringe as fuck but then after the fact i just love
having been there for
the cringe.
It is kind of fun because then you can
see people in the dance form and be like, dad's speech, huh?
Like, dad's speech was crazy.
When you're like, you can connect with other people and be like,
yeah, that was, because this is where people really like,
it's their time to shine and like be funny,
quote unquote.
So they're like really giving it their all.
But I went to one recently where there were so many speeches
and every single speech at the end was like,
So let's give a toast to the bride and the groom.
And so it's like, all right, we're sitting here like the dinner is getting cold.
We're like, long speech, long speech, long speech, one sip of champagne, one sip of champagne,
cheering everyone at the table, like over and over and over.
But, I mean, it's not unhinged, it's just cringe.
So.
On the Bishop Exchange, or maybe here we were talking about how your voice changes when you're giving a wedding speech.
Was that here or was that on the Bishop Exchange?
I don't know if we talked to it because we talked about weddings with Kelsey,
but I don't know if we brought that up.
Yeah, no, it was on the district exchange.
We were talking about, oh, because Bradley's voice changed.
Because last week's episode, we recorded last week because Bradley was going to be away.
So we did like a people messaging in episode.
So Bradley was like explaining it.
But when he went into explaining mode, his voice changed.
So we started.
So we were talking about the fact that like there's like a wedding speech cadence.
It's like when Bob and Sarah got together, you know,
Your voice changes.
So there is like a wedding speech cadence.
Yeah.
And obviously there is, like here's a reality.
The wedding speech should be, you know, like funny story, something meaningful, tears.
Move on, you know?
Yeah, but with the, sometimes with the funny stories, they're like actually kind of degrading other, like, especially, I don't know if you find this, but I've seen a lot of vows lately where the bride and the, specifically the brides.
specifically the bride is like busting the groom's balls in a way where it feels very personal.
Yeah, vows shouldn't be roasts.
Yeah, but it's like a roast where it's like, this feels like an unresolved thing between you guys.
And we're all kind of like awkwardly laughing about it.
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the, like, everyone's like fucking doing their own vows now.
And that's, that's fine.
But, you know, I'm not a fan of church weddings, really.
But what I am a, there's certain traditions that I'm a fan of.
and one of them would be the traditional vows.
I don't,
I don't care if you want to take out the religious stuff,
but just like the till death do us part stuff.
I don't know.
I got,
I'm like,
I'm like a fan of the traditional,
I'm a fan of the traditional vows in that respect.
You know why?
Because I,
I need the beats.
Like I,
the beats are like the moment for me that I'm like,
they're married now,
you know?
I now pronounce you man-in-wana-wana.
I need these beats.
I like the beat.
I don't, the more and more I go to weddings, I'm like, I don't think I want to do my vows in front of people.
Like, it feels very performative and everyone's staring at you, and especially with this kind of like weird roasting thing that's going on.
Like, I don't know, it'll be like the bride talking to the groom.
I can't believe we made it to this point.
It's in so many years.
And we're getting married, even though you still leave your socks on the floor.
Like, they always put like a little weird shitty thing in at the end where it's like, okay.
Like, is the socks that big of a deal that you had to bring it up on the biggest day of your life?
Do you know what I'm talking about?
Well, I haven't seen that as much, but yes, I have, I've seen a bit of that.
Honestly, though, I was really just laughing at you.
You're like, that's the cadence.
That's the cadence. That's so funny.
Sarah.
That's like a bit.
That's a bit.
Yeah, it's, it's, it's, I don't know what it is. What's the guy? Go on, do it. You're, you're in the flow. What's the guy's one? But it's really, the sad part is just really kind of just the girls. Like, the guys, the guys don't really have like, like, they definitely try to be funnier and be like, talk about like the crazy nights they've had together, but, or they're like, I don't know. They don't have like a flow like that.
I wonder what the guy's joke, the guy's joke in the vow is like, yeah, I promise to spend the rest of my life with you, even.
know I got to hang out with your shitty friends.
Well, I don't think that guy, every single one I've seen, it's only the bride is doing
those weird jokes during the vows.
And the groom is being completely serious and being like, you're the love of my life.
And she's like, even though you watch Harry Potter every night, like, it's always some weird
little dig at the guy.
And I'm like, what is that?
Are we being silly?
Yeah, I know.
That's what I mean, though.
It's like, this is the moment.
because at the end of the day, it's like,
you're becoming a citizen in the United States,
you're becoming the president of the United States,
you're,
there's just certain things where there's like an oath.
There's rules to this.
Yeah, like the vows,
the vows are meant to be like that.
I solemnly swear, you know?
Like, you know, shit that just matters.
Like, this needs to be recited for this to be real.
You know?
Like, like, Game of Thrones.
Like, you got to fucking swear an oath.
You got to bend the knee.
And even though Benning Linney, what does that matter?
Well, it matters in fucking Westeros.
You know?
I'm like, for me, it's like I, you know, I, somebody, you know, like, whatever the
you say in the vows, you know, to having to hold the sickness and the health, you know,
like, say the shit that you're supposed to say.
That's my opinion.
I feel the same way.
And I also don't like when they break the fourth wall.
Like, I don't like when they'll be in the middle of their thing and they'll be like,
thanks, mom.
And like, go back to their thing.
Like, they're like acknowledging people in the crowd.
out and making like cheeky jokes.
Like, what are you guys doing?
This should take like 30 seconds.
And then you kiss, then you leave.
By the way, as an altar boy, the one joke that, like, I'd say 40% of best men
pretended to not be able to find the rings in their pocket.
And you know, do you know what's funny?
My brother fucking did it at our wedding.
The bit?
Or he couldn't find them for real?
No, he did the joke about the figure.
And I was like, we're comedians, bro.
We're fucking, I've seen this joke a thousand times, bro.
That was like an airplane joke to you.
Hack wedding behaviors.
Yeah.
God, when I think back, but the thing is, I was an altar boy, like in the 80s,
like all those weddings were very, like, you know, proper serious.
The thing I don't like about, by the way, I think churches are great venues for weddings.
And I don't even mind aspects of the mass for the wedding.
The problem is that the fucking priest always has to give a homily.
It's like, guy, we don't, it's not the time.
Like, do you know how many non-Catholics are in this room right now?
Do you know how many people don't even know how to respond to the fucking prayers in this room right now?
That's really funny.
We don't need, you know, like you're trying to make like religious sense of this whole fucking, you know,
we're all just waiting to get on the dance floor so we could, you know.
I haven't been to like a Catholic wedding in a while.
I haven't been to a wedding in a church in a while,
and I completely forgot,
like,
of course he's always trying to shoehorn in a homily.
Don't they also do that at funerals?
Yeah.
I guess it kind of makes more sense to the funeral.
You know,
it's really difficult for the family of Bob Smith.
I know.
Like,
it's like,
Bob Smith was like a loyal patron of the church.
Bob was here every Sunday.
Like,
he's like flexing on credentials.
Yeah,
but all the family are laughing because it like hasn't been to mass intent.
10 years
You know
He always passed the basket
After church
Yeah
Yeah so anyway
But I you know
I by the way
Shout out if anybody's listening
That knows what I'm talking about
Because some of them do listen
But I was at a wedding
And
The father of the groom
For his speech
He just decided to sing
Uh
I
I think
It was either
Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World or it was like one of those and who was like
bonkers.
No message.
By the way, the man who was doing this, I couldn't love this man more.
I mean, he's been, he's been a part of my life for almost my entire existence.
He's like an uncle figure to me.
And like, I just was laughing so hard and I couldn't have enjoyed it more because it was
show him. But the thing is that
it was brief. So it doesn't
matter what you do. If it's short,
it's fine. But I just was
loving it. I was like, well, this is great. And you know
what's funny is like, maybe at the time
some people were like, what the fuck's going on? But like,
forever people would be
like, do you remember when my dad sang
a fucking Louis Armstrong song?
That's really funny. For no
reason. And it was amazing.
It was amazing.
Yeah, I think that like, as long as
it's brief, that's great, because whenever, especially
when the parents are giving speeches and they
go off script, like, they
bring up something printed and they're like,
you know what? Never mind.
And they decided to just do their own thing. I'm like,
fuck, this is going to be like 20 minutes.
This is going to be so long.
But,
you know.
I couldn't dance properly at that wedding,
unfortunately.
Yeah. That sucks.
Knee problems.
She's fucking piss me off.
Watching fucking dance with the stars. I can't believe it.
like how active I was in 2017 compared to now.
Sad.
So anyway, are there many more?
There's a few.
But it might be time for a mystery WhatsApp.
Oh, shit.
Thank you.
Thank God.
Thank you.
Thank you for reminding me.
The WhatsAppers would be upset.
I feel bad because I'm such a pro.
WhatsApp person.
Americans just never got onto the WhatsApp, man, because they will use I message.
All right, that's my personal WhatsApp.
We need to go into WhatsApp, pad by Mint Mobile.
By the way, that's not official sponsorship, but like, it's a fact that I needed a number
to create a WhatsApp and Mint Mobile.
Like, you can do all the research yourself.
Mint Mobile, it's the best deal in town.
Like, I did tons of research.
and I you know I wasn't even like motivated like oh they they advertise on the pod I'll go for mint like it's it's really it's like it's a real deal now the thing is that like I'm I'm using it I'm paying that bill and like it's kind of hard to believe how good of a deal it is yeah so no that's not it sometimes like you look for an app and then it's like oh okay there we go sorry I've shown my age here all right mystery WhatsApp
You ready?
Yes.
Also, did you see a lot of people are requesting the yes worries merch?
We might have to actually make that happen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, I did that video.
It was like, you know, there was a better video would have started later, but we needed to, I need to establish like the no worries thing.
Mm-hmm.
You know?
So the video didn't perform that great.
It performed okay.
But yes, worries.
I doubt it's actually like it's a good name of a show particularly like an australia be a good name
anyway let's do a couple of mystery WhatsApps here we go it's exciting here we go
a good prompt idea but i don't know if it's too dark so we'll see but as i know you've dealt with
a lot of loss and grief in your life me as well i know a lot of people have and like a lot of people
i deal with that stuff with like dark humor sometimes so i think maybe a good prompt would be
the craziest or most unhinged thing someone has said to you while grieving or after
losing someone. For me, it was actually my ex-boyfriend's parents. So this is like my ex-boyfriend
from high school. I'm engaged now. It's like years later, but I ran into my ex-boyfriend's parents
shortly after my mom passed away. And obviously, they're offering their condolences,
eating my family. And I had just moved into like a new house with my fiance now. And he was
asking how many bedrooms is it? And I, like the, sorry, my high school boyfriend's dad was asking
how many bedrooms is it. Hopefully your mom from heaven watching you hangs up in a different room
while you and your fiance are doing it basically. Um, like it was the strangest thing,
insinuating that my mom is watching down on me from heaven and watching me have sex with my now
fiance. That's my ex-boyfriend from high school's dad saying that that's the first thing that
came out of this month. The first thing he was thinking about to say to me after my mom has passed
way. Yeah, it was pretty weird. And there are so many other weird ones. And I know a lot of people
have weird things like that too. Love it. That's a great suggestion. I mean, I've got,
you know I got some on that time. That's a good suggestion. And then that's like, that's like
the perfect example of like the inappropriate humor of an older man. Like, what? In that situation,
what?
Just like dying to like talk dirty in front of her.
Anyway, good thing she didn't,
good thing she didn't marry into that family.
Great mystery WhatsApp.
Let's take another.
You know,
we should get sponsored by fucking meta at this stage.
Truly.
Fucking,
our mystery WhatsApps are even better.
It's like,
mystery WhatsApp's brought to you by Google.
We actually have two.
competing people powering this pod right now.
Do we use Google Voice and Mystery WhatsApp.
Two competing tech titans.
Competing, competing tech titans.
Here we go.
Mystery WhatsApp.
Hopefully it's not a problem.
What the fuck's up, does it?
And Nicole.
Prompt idea is two of them.
Craziest travel story and also
craziest ER story.
Oh, she, she sent it in on.
I can tell you about the time I swallowed a spoon.
So yeah.
We found her.
But we didn't get the spoon story.
Successful?
We have the spoon story.
It's above.
That's a successful method to call into both numbers.
No, but the spoon, I found the spoon story.
You have the spoon story.
Okay.
Do we want it right now?
Do we want to hear it?
Or do we save it for next week.
Tune in next week for the spoon story.
Do you want the spoon story now?
I feel like we kind of need the spoon story.
Okay.
I found the spoon story.
All right, here we go.
Hi.
I'm on the plane.
I am meeting to have to tell you about how this.
I tell you what we need.
No.
We need you to, we need you to resend the spoon story.
When you're on the ground.
Mystery WhatsApp, Tyler.
You need to send that spoon story.
We're all dying to know.
We'll go for one more mystery WhatsApp.
This one actually may not be related to it.
This one may not be related.
Okay, I rescind the first one because I had a frog in my throat.
but I knew it would just piss that's his misophonia off.
Hopefully my voice sounds.
Okay.
Calling about the no worries guy in the complaint from last week.
Des, you posited that, oh, they're not even Australian, not even a cultural context.
Could this be a Canadian?
I'm calling from Canada.
And we definitely say no worries a lot.
Oh, yeah, no worries, bud.
Oh, yeah, for sure, no worries.
Thank you.
Oh, yeah, no worries.
No worries.
We say it, you know, oh, I'm going to run.
no worries. Oh, you forgot to do this. Oh, no worries, for sure. I'll get it done. You don't always
get the get it done, though. Oh, yeah, no worries. It's kind of an acknowledgement that, oh, yeah,
I hear what you're saying and sounds good. But yeah, definitely would get annoying, I think,
if you're telling the coworker they mess up all the time, and that's their response. The real
test to tell is whether or not this coworker says yes or no. Clearly, if he's saying,
oh, yeah, no, that's a no. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, it's a, yeah, it's a,
yeah. Oh yeah, no, for sure, yeah. That's a yeah. It gets confusing. Even us Canadians can't really
agree sometimes. I'll definitely be disagreeing with some in the comments. But yeah, it could be a
Canadian. Love it. What was I going to say? We have a lot of Canadian dialers. Some of them,
some of them hit the Google Voice and some of them hit the WhatsApp. So anyway, the WhatsApp got a good
hearing today. We'll work on yes worries merch. If we ever do a live show, we'll sell some
yes worries. You know, I've never done merch. Actually, sorry, very early in my career, I sold a t-shirt.
Did you turn off the immersion? And I've sold DVDs at shows, but I've never done a lot of merch.
Just not my thing. But maybe I'll start doing yes worries merch. Anyway, the good news is we had a very
thorough. We can do a few more next week. Oh, you have to pick one for, you have to pick one. Jesus,
I nearly forgot. Are we going to do it at the same time?
It took me so long, though, if we like say what the name of it is. Well, no, I can't remember.
I can't remember the actual phrasing. It's, you know, it's the, it's the, it's the one you,
do you agree that it's the one that, that you know that I want it to be? Or do you, do, are you,
do you, do, do you, do you, do you, do you, do you, do you, do you, it's a collaboration.
I think we could definitely do happy accidents next week.
That's the one you like, right?
Yeah, but I, what would you want, though?
I think that we should in the future definitely revisit craziest ER stories, unhinged things at weddings, and also unhinged humor during grief.
Like what people have said to you type of shit.
They're all happening.
But it seems that we're prioritizing happy accidents.
Well, yeah, but this is my problem is I said too much.
What do you think you would have went for if I hadn't?
I showed you, I showed my hand.
What do you think you would have went for?
I think, I don't know, that one's really good.
And I feel like that, that one is enticing because those stories are kind of,
they have like a little twist in them and they are typically feeling pretty good.
Although it did also make me think like, because earlier in the episode you had brought up,
um, like the day your dad went to the hospital and everything changed.
Like, I sort of feel like that the happy accident accidents goes hand in hand with like this day that everything changes for you.
Yeah, the only thing I would change with happy accidents is that I don't think it has to just be happy.
Like, I think.
Yeah.
I think it's really more like like a random moment that was like highly consequential.
I think that's cool.
I like that.
Yeah, because like the.
Yeah, like.
Because it wasn't even a happy act.
accident that I ended up in Ireland, really.
You know, I was like, I left my family.
You know what I'm?
I had a drinking problem as a child.
No, but like, yeah, like, I'm living in another country because I, like, wanted to get away from my circumstance.
I failed out of school.
No, but yeah, I think, I think happy accidents is the term, but really what we mean is like...
Butterfly effect type stuff.
Yeah, I think it's a butterfly effect type situation.
And then we'll keep the other ones.
Now we're well loaded up.
Mm-hmm.
And don't be afraid when you're listening.
to keep sending them in. We love the suggestions.
And don't forget to tell your friends about Burnaphone.
We're heading into a new era.
To be honest, I know I get pushed back on this, but I'm really thinking about changing
the name.
Not that I have any problem with the pod having my wife's last name, but here's my thing.
You know, I'm getting a lot of new people on my Instagram and stuff.
and I think some of them might not quite understand that it's like my podcast.
Do you know what I mean?
Yeah.
I think it's like a little confusing for them.
And I would like for them to feel like they're welcome.
So I'm thinking about it.
I know I'm going to get some pushback.
The dialers part of it is not changing.
Like this is a dialer-driven podcast.
And truth be told, if I change the name, I'm putting the word dialer.
dialer into the name of the pod.
Yeah.
A hundred percent.
So it's really just, it's going to be something with the word dialer in it.
So you don't want like another pun with your name instead?
Yeah, the problem is it's not as good.
I mean, Desi's dialers is the only, it's fun and silly.
But, you know, Desi's dialers, like, I don't know what other pun you could put in.
I have a lot of, we have a lot of clerical puns with my last name.
Anyway, if you think I know that some of you're going to be like, don't change the name.
But if you know that the name is going to change, don't be afraid to send it in.
It doesn't have to have dialer in it, but I want to have the word dialer in it because I want it to be acknowledged that you guys drive the pot.
You know?
But really mainly, I just want it to be kind of like a bit clearer for all these like new people that are like coming around seeing these videos and like, you know, because like I'm, I'm,
I'm selling a lot more tickets and like,
I just want these people to know like,
hey,
this is,
this is our podcast.
Yeah.
That's,
that's kind of why.
So,
uh,
anyway,
let us know everybody.
Let us know what you think.
And,
uh,
we'll see you next week.
Don't forget,
917,
512,
175,
58 and six,
one of these days I'm going to memorize that.
The 6464,
2,3,
7,0,20.
It's actually not a hard number.
64664-2-3-7-0-20 plus one obviously.
It's the country code plus one, 64-6-6-4-2-3-7-0-20.
And, yeah, we'll see you next week.
Long episode, Nicole.
Are you okay?
I'm fine.
I'm hanging in there.
Yeah, this has been long.
Taking up a lot of your time.
All right, everybody.
We'll see you next week.
