Between the Moon - Ep 30: Poetry of entropy and nature-based themes of Virgo

Episode Date: September 20, 2025

In today’s timely episode, we explore the role of entropy in Virgo's nature-based themes, touching on how to connect these experiences connect with the upcoming eclipse, and some of the challenges a...nd gifts. There is poetry in how we choose to embody this mutable earth sign.I share some insights I received during an acupuncture treatment about the connection between the zodiac and the nervous system. If you like unusual ways of relating to the astrological archetypes - this episode will not disappoint! At the heart of this exploration is understanding Virgo's energy and role in keeping the rhythms of life in balance and digesting our experiences. No one escapes entropy, and you can see if that feels like a relief or cause for grief, but the eclipse asks us to face it either way. There are some personal stories to illustrate these concepts, like looking back to the 2006 eclipse through forgotten photos on an old external hard drive and seeing how past cycles shape us and invite deeper integration.I also propose a potential lunar astrology challenge—like a fun experiment to observe how the sign that the moon is in affects our lives. Let me know what you think about that idea in the comments, pls :))00:00 Welcome and Announcements01:34 Exploring the Moon Mandala Workshop03:24 Lunar Astrology Challenge06:12 Introduction to Virgo Themes07:06 Virgo and the Rhythm of Life12:56 The Poetry of Entropy24:19 Eclipses and Life Review26:04 Personal Reflections and Astrology41:06 Conclusion and Upcoming EventsAnnouncementsThe Lunation Journals and Lunar Wall Calendars are available for presale in the shop!! Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome, dear listener, to Between the Moon, a podcast about self-study in relationship with cycles. I'm your host, April McMurtry, founder of The Moon is My Calendar. Before we dive in to the theme of the poetry of entropy, the nature-based themes of the sign of Virgo, along with the experience of this eclipse season. I wanted to make a couple announcements. And the first one is pre-sale of the lunation journals and the lunar wall calendars. And this has the harvest cycle artwork with the Black Bear and the Pacific Blackberries. And this connection to the stages and phases of unfolding, the seed, the sprout, the flower, the fruit.
Starting point is 00:00:57 the harvest cycle in our own life and being a part of all the harvest cycles that the lunar cycle illustrates really as the moon goes through phases. So the presale is what allows for this independent publication to be printed each year through your support and desire for this. It's really actually been fun to hear from all of you in your appreciation for this tool being made available. This is the 12th year of publication. So you can head to the shop to pre-order your calendar, your journal, and yeah, they'll ship out in November, possibly earlier, but I'm aiming for November. Okay, that's number one. Number two, coming up for the equinox, there will be a moon mandala workshop the day after the equinox, so September 23rd. And that will be,
Starting point is 00:01:55 exploring the theme of what is harmony and balance and what happens when things get out of balance, working with the symbol of the yin and the yang, the elements that are intertwined and connected, the light and shadow, that the dualities and polarities each have a part of the other within them, and creating artwork that feels like an expression of the things that we're integrating within ourselves, the light in the shadow. And what I'm excited to share, especially in this workshop, is how the zodiac is connected with the seasons. So the tropical zodiac, tropical astrology, is anchored into the seasons, the equinoxes and the solstices. And I have a couple of visuals to show that. Once I understood that, it really helped to anchor astrology into an experience of life on Earth.
Starting point is 00:02:57 And yes, it's connected with the stars in the cosmos, but in particular, these turning points on the wheel of the year. So because the equinox and what's called Libra, this point is actually a point in the Earth's journey around the sun and marking that. And so anyway, I'm excited to share that just because I think when that really clicked for me early on. It was like, oh, okay, this is what this experience is about, and this is this language of astrology to talk about the seasons. Okay. And I think there's a third thing. Yes. So I'm considering, and would love your feedback, I'm considering doing a, like a lunar
Starting point is 00:03:38 astrology challenge. Maybe there's a better word than challenge, because really, it's an exploration. The challenge part of it is just the paying attention and the noticing and the connect. connecting with inner and outer cycles, the full moon that will come up in this next lunation is, let's see, that's October 6th. And that full moon will be in Aries. So Ares is the sign directly across from Libra. They're partners, pairs, the polarities that have the lessons of how you integrate Libra and Aries.
Starting point is 00:04:16 And Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and it's connected with the spring equineering. in the Northern Hemisphere. And so the full moon is in that spring equinox sign, while the next new moon will be in the next one after that will be in Libra, October 21st. The challenge will be, yeah, if you're interested in following along with when the moon moves into each of the signs, just observing for those two and a half days, the tones and the themes of each sign and seeing how they come up or not, kind of like a laboratory of our own lives, I remember when I showed the lunar wall calendar, which has a circular color-coded zodiac wheel, so you can easily see what sign the moon is in.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Anyway, I showed this to my grandma, who has always been a supporter of my artwork. She has a lot of my pieces from when I was in college and my 20s in her house. It's like a little mini gallery. So supportive. She saw the calendar, and she's like, huh, but does it work? And I kind of love that question. does it work? And that's what I want to explore with this challenge slash exploration is, is it useful? Is it beneficial to follow what sign the moon is in? Does it matter? Does it improve our
Starting point is 00:05:35 lives? Does it give us some language to talk about our lived experience, some ways to make meaning or not? And so that's what I'm thinking. I'm sharing something before it's fully formed, but it's been in the back of my mind for, I want to say eons, for many moons. So why not just come out with it and have it not be perfect and figure it out along the way because I just, I want to be in that conversation with you in a space doing that. So it'll probably happen on Substack. I know not everybody is there in that space, which is turning into a little more like social media-e-ish. but still some like really wonderful ideas being shared there. So anyway, that is my thought for now.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Okay. I think that's enough rambling and announcements so we can get into our topic and our theme. Okay. So Virgo, this episode and these themes have been haunting me, not in a bad way, but in a following me around coming into my thoughts, so much has been coming through. and I didn't get a chance to write down all the notes because some of it came through while I was driving or, for example, on the acupuncture table getting a treatment. And so my hope and my intention is really to share these nature-based themes of Virgo in a way that they resonate in an embodied way that they're felt rather than ideas or something to think about or memorize, but actually to have a feeling.
Starting point is 00:07:14 So I'm going to start with what came to me on the acupuncture table. And that was the feeling of the entire zodiac being a pulse between the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous system. This on, off, go rest. Each sign alternates. And when we have that kind of rhythm in our life, where we're able to wake up, go to work in whatever form that is, like exert ourselves, and then rest. And perhaps that pulse is every couple hours in the day where the foot's on the
Starting point is 00:07:58 gas or if we're riding a bike or on the pedals. And then we stop and pause and take a breath, integrate, take things in before moving again. This pulse that starts with air, It starts with the fire starter. It starts with the ignition and the initiation and the let's go attitude. It's a force. It's fire and a force. That is the sympathetic nervous system expressed through a sign in the zodiac. That moves into Taurus is the next sign.
Starting point is 00:08:32 And Taurus is like, wait a minute, put on the brakes. Like this is going too fast for me. I need to catch my breath. This is like the tortoise in the hair. I need to slow down and smell the flowers and have a little snack maybe, you know, and that is the parasympathetic nervous system. From there, moving to Gemini, all of a sudden, the wind kicks up and things are moving and thoughts are going and mile a minute.
Starting point is 00:09:03 So there's this on and off. I'm not going to go through the whole zodiac, but you get a sense, right? This is the pulse. That rhythm, the description of that rhythm, that feeling of that rhythm in the body, that is what Virgo lives for, is to be the rhythm keeper. To have things in place in a way that life flows with this ability to be in different modes and giving yourself fully to being on and being off. and having a rhythm throughout the day, throughout the lunar cycle, throughout the whole year,
Starting point is 00:09:42 that there is this pulse. And when we have a rhythm in our life, just feel into times when you have had this rhythm where you're in the flow, where you're working really hard, dedicating yourself to something that matters, putting yourself into it, and there's time to rest. and perhaps withdraw or put your feet up or in whatever way, getting to step away from being in that on mode. So thinking about that rhythm, the times of the year, especially in the fall, in the northern hemisphere, moving from summer to fall. Virgo is the sign that transitions us. It's a mutable sign, mutable earth, and it moves. moves from the expansion of summer to, hey, wait a minute, let's kind of get things in order.
Starting point is 00:10:40 We've got to think about winter's going to come. And we kind of got to think about planning ahead for that. So all these beautiful crops and fruits that are on the trees and in the fields, we should probably do something about that to preserve it. So we have some reserves. And that kind of thinking and planning ahead and how. having one foot in both worlds of the summer world and the fall world is what allows Virgo to have this sense of order and planning and a kind of a strategy for how to take something
Starting point is 00:11:19 that's in one form and turn it into another form. So that could be a bounty of apples in the apple tree or the apple orchard. And if they're not harvested, they'll fall and they'll become compost and the worms and the birds will have a feast. So there's this eye on timing and participating in the harvest cycle and in the planning for, okay, can't eat 100 apples before they go bad. So who can I give some away to? Can I make some applesauce and preserve them? What are the different forms that that one fruit can take. And that is a part of the mutability of the shifting of forms. And the entropy comes in is if there's no Virgo energy, things will just go the way they go. And all of the apples will become the compost, which is beautiful for the trees.
Starting point is 00:12:19 When the apples don't fall far from the tree, then they feed back into the cycle. However, that entropy of going from what could be order to disorder, right? An apple that is food and nourishment that then turns into mush and compost, which, like, that's needed too. But if you want to be a human and keep going, then being a part of that cycle of harvesting and eating with any of the, fruits and grains and things that come into fruition around this time in the fall not everything does but a lot of the plants this is the timing so virgo's on top of that the poetry of entropy then is how to engage with all the things that would just fall apart if there wasn't the effort to put energy back into the system to get things on some kind of a track back on track back on track from dirty
Starting point is 00:13:24 to clean the laundry, the dishes, the floor, the windows, the everything. So those things that either they're daily, like our teeth, things that need to be cleaned daily for the upkeep. That is a way of counteracting the entropy of going from a state of order to disorder or spread out or dispersal. That can feel tedious. That can feel never-ending. That can feel like The laundry again, again, never ending. Yeah. So what do we do about that? How to bring in some kind of making that magical,
Starting point is 00:14:06 rather than something to dread. How can that become something that is, wow, I'm participating in this second law of thermodynamics? Oh my gosh. That's a big responsibility. And I think part of what can get, Virgo sort of stuck in this loop is this feeling of nobody else is paying attention to this. Nobody else sees that those shoes have been left on the floor for a week and nobody else is
Starting point is 00:14:36 going to take care of it. Nobody else sees what I see. Nobody else is going to clean up that spill, whatever the thing might be. So that's tricky because then there is a worrying about no one else is seeing these details. I'm the only one. And so taking all of that on. And that can feel like a burden. And so looking at what your relationship with entropy and the things that just constantly,
Starting point is 00:15:05 you know, that's its own rhythm of how to address those things, what your relationship is with that. And possibly how you might want to shift that into participating with a process in life that is a part of this earthly experience. It's almost like that turning of the wheel of the year, keeping things in circulation, keeping things moving, keeping things going from their state of order to disorder
Starting point is 00:15:34 and back to order again. There's a lot more that I could say about that. And I think the embodied sense or feeling is to really look at how you approach the things that feel mundane, that feel like perhaps like drudgery. And for Virgo, the challenge or the gift can be turning that into something that has a spirit of joy. And what if things didn't fall apart?
Starting point is 00:16:08 Like what if, okay, in relationships, what if you were still with like boyfriend, girlfriend from middle school? I don't know what the percentage is. I know some people marry their high school sweetheart. If I did that, that would be a problem. That would not last. So that was something that fell apart. That is a part of this process of like things fall apart.
Starting point is 00:16:30 If they didn't, think of all of the jobs and the professions that rely on entropy. Anything from mechanics fixing things that hopefully have a long lifespan, but everything wears down. And so any of the professions that address entropy are part of that Virgo service, the nature of putting things back in order, getting things back up and running, like fixing the flat tire. Hopefully this is feeling like it's sinking in an embodied way of like the impulse of Virgo is to serve and is to be of service. and when that's in service because nobody else is going to do this and becomes a martyr, that is not helpful. When it's in our service to say like, wow, okay, it's time to get to work in the apple orchard and there is extra and more to go around and how can I connect with my neighbors to be a part of
Starting point is 00:17:32 how we help to feed each other and support each other and keep life, going. It's a big responsibility, but it doesn't have to be a responsibility. I guess I'm saying this when we look at it from that perspective of a participation in this function of entropy. Before recording this, I went online to look at some TED talks about entropy. I watched several videos that got very technical. And I was like, okay, this is over my head. I need to just bring it back to high school biology and my teacher, Mrs. Miller. She has. had a sign over the sink that said fight entropy. So she meant like clean up our lab equipment or wash her hands or do all the things. And I feel like there's way too much language that uses violence and
Starting point is 00:18:26 war to address things that we could be more loving with. Like fighting climate change, are we fighting it? Can that be turned around into like loving the earth and loving the problem? of being a part of not letting entropy get the best of everything. Anyway, I just say that because, yeah, like fight entropy is very catchy. And so in college, I made that same sign and I put it above the sink with the dishes and continued that tradition of thinking about cleaning up as participating in the process of entropy. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Some of the notes that I took from those videos, part of why entropy is prevalent is because and this is a quote, there are many more ways to be disorderly. So statistically, the probability of things, even from bonds and atoms and all kinds of things that I don't understand because I'm not a chemist or a physicist,
Starting point is 00:19:24 that there's just more probability that something will become disorderly. One of the authors who was speaking, Sean Carroll, he talked about disorder is always increasing, and so that can give this very depressing view of the future. It's all just like downhill. Things are all just going to fall apart. When somehow all these complex structures, life like humans, we exist. Somehow we came together
Starting point is 00:19:51 in this form. And so there's also a coming together of form. And this is this bigger pulse. I spoke about at the beginning that nervous system moving between sympathetic, parasympathetic. this pulse of the universe of things coming into form and then dispersing and dissolving out of form in those larger cycles. When things are composting, like worms, anything like the decomposers that break things down. Things that break down, also they have heat that's in the system, right? That's part of the breaking down, like a good compost pile is going to be a steaming. Then we could think of it like leading to the big bang that things will break down and then like burst forth. again. So what happens when there are species of plants that come in and then just take over and there's
Starting point is 00:20:45 no checks and balances, that role of Virgo is perhaps the habitat restoration of having discernment and that eye for which plants are contributing to this community and which ones are trying to completely take over. And I say plants, but that can be extended out. With Virgo, I think there can be concern that nobody else is paying attention to the details. And that may feel like life and death, especially when it comes to plants, which plants are ones for certain medicines and which plants are not ones to eat and really discerning what is the shape of the leaf. I think some people just see green things growing. They're like, it's a plant. But all of those details of the different forms of the specific kind of plant that's based on its structure.
Starting point is 00:21:38 I think of all the kind of taxonomies and plant systems of naming and classifying and all of that is a very Virgo kind of activity because it's putting things in order. And that doesn't mean that those orders don't have problems inherent within them. But there's a feeling of, oh, I have some sense of control. right, which can be part of the shadow side of like, I'm going to give these things all these Latin names and then I can control them because I've organized them and ordered them. And then the human becomes separate from that natural process outside of it, classifying it rather than feeling like actually a part of it and engaged with it.
Starting point is 00:22:22 Virgo shadow side too can be hypervigilant or have what can present like OCD of if things aren't a certain way than something bad is going to happen, which can be really debilitating and really hard. And so looking at what are the ways that there is order in your life and what are the ways that things are allowed to kind of exist in their state, even if that goes into a little bit of an entropy state, but allowing for some breathing room where everything doesn't have to be neat and tidy, like every second and every moment, that there is a process of breaking down. And that's reflected in the lunar cycle when we see every phase has its own special gift that it brings. All of the waxing phases bring us more and more light. There's an increase that after the full
Starting point is 00:23:17 moon, that's when the entropy starts. That's when the decreasing starts. That's when the losing light, the dispersing. And that process allows for the renewal to have cycle after cycle, rather than, again, if things never fell apart, if things never broke down, there wouldn't be change. There wouldn't be seasons. Even the seasonal cycle of plants follows that unless it's an evergreen. There is a process of death and dying that is necessary and needed and a part of making the cycle whole that allows for spring to come, that allows for that rebirth. birth. And so at this time, this season in the fall, in having an eclipse in Virgo, eclipses often will put a squeeze on. There can be extra pressure that's built up or created,
Starting point is 00:24:10 especially when something hasn't been addressed previously. It can just go straight into that spotlight birth canal, feeling of labor, feeling of, I don't know, I'm going to make it through this and what's on the other side. So I'm recording this before the solar eclipse in Virgo that's on September 21st, the day before the equinox. And I just wanted to share looking back, right? Because cycles repeat themselves. And so eclipses are a cycle that goes through its own repetitions. And when there's repetition, there's a chance for a review and a looking back to a similar configuration. So looking back, September 22nd, so almost to the day, in the year 2006, there was a solar eclipse, South Node and Virgo, 29 degrees, Virgo. So same degree. 29 degrees, 29 degrees.
Starting point is 00:25:13 So this is a repetition at the same degree, the same timing, 2006. So look back. and just see what kind of crossroad you were at at that time. Like where were you feeling the squeeze? This could be related to the different areas of life that are found in the birth chart. So you could look and see which house Virgo rules. And if you're new to astrology, that can be something that's figured out down the road. But just know that there's an area of your life that each of the signs is connected with. and so often that sort of will happen naturally without knowing, but there's no need to really force it of like, oh, that's my second house. So the theme must be about this and this.
Starting point is 00:26:04 I say look at your life first. Like, what is your lived experience? So interestingly and unplanned completely, I'm going to give you a personal example just to kind of see how this might play out. And when we have our connection and understanding, understanding in this language of astrology, it can give us some points of reference to make sense of things that would otherwise seem like random and not at all connected. When we can connect the dots, and that's what practicing the lunar tracking helps with, this self-study in relationship with cycles,
Starting point is 00:26:40 the language of tropical astrology, the seasons, these moments of the turning points in the wheel of the year. When we have all that, there can be some meaning. And humans are like meaning making. I was going to say machines. We are not machines. We are like squishy beings that are imperfect and have complex lives and not everything makes sense. But when we can connect some of those dots, there is a bit of the nervous system just feeling like, okay, I'm going to figure this out.
Starting point is 00:27:18 Whatever the next chapter is, I've figured things out before. And there's a story that we can tell ourselves when we have a little bit of a life review. Eclipses give us an opportunity for a life review. Okay, true story. The other night, and actually this would be last night, I had my parents over and my grandma. I live close by four generations of my family, which I know is quite unusual in the states in suburbia, where people are often very spread out from their family of origin. And so having dinner, my mom brings up a book that she's been reading.
Starting point is 00:27:55 She said she read it twice. And she's like, I really want you to read it. It's about the Virgin of Guadalupe and the miracle that happened. You know, she started going on. I was like, Mom, we went there. We went to the basilica. We went to the place where there's the pilgrimage to see Guadalupe. We went there when I was pregnant with my now almost 18-year-old.
Starting point is 00:28:15 So like literally 18 years ago, we were at this basilique. okay. 18 years. So that time I went to go look like where are those photos? I didn't have a smartphone like where was I even keeping my photos? It was a digital camera. I figured it was all just like lost to time but I was obsessed with all the pictures that we took when we went up to where the apparition and the miracle of the Virhindeigua Lupe happened. So I was like I am going to find these pictures. You know when things are digital and intangible it's like where are they? Where do they exist and I ended up going to our electronics box, but it's mostly extension cords and things that require batteries. But anyway, I found this little black external hard drive and I was like,
Starting point is 00:29:02 this is, either this is it or those photos no longer exist. And I plugged it in and it pulled up these old eye photo libraries from that time. So from, and again, this life review of sometimes it is looking at photographs where there were these memories that our brains like that process of entropy again of the we don't need all of that information at our fingertips and so the brain prunes itself very technical language i know and so photos like access something that feels like it's being revived and so this time of my life of looking back to before i had kids and some of the photos were before i was married. And so right in that window of that 2006, time in between just getting married and about to get pregnant. And so looking of how is it that we relate to younger versions of ourselves? And I know
Starting point is 00:30:02 the older you get, the more version, the more younger versions of yourself there are to relate to. And I hadn't really gone back to look at that time of my life in a long time. And my daughter, who's now going to almost be 18, she had not seen the photos like herself as a five-day-old baby. And I had some videos of her that she had never seen. So this kind of life review of, wow, I am so different now. But there are some things that haven't changed. And so accessing what doesn't change? What is core?
Starting point is 00:30:41 And then what are all the things like the hair cuts? hair color, how tall you are, other things that are, they're not superficial, but they change. And getting to see that and relate to that and interact with that, it just felt like a very eclipse moment of reflection, of looking back at a big chapter of life to really integrate. So I'm still sitting with, how do I feel about having raised a kid who's now going to be going off on her own? and all the ways, like all of the Virgo things that I had to get in order in my life to have a rhythm to be able to have that for my own kid, where my daily experience was way more like chaos, way more like, huh, breakfast, I don't know, is there anything for breakfast? I didn't have to think about having things in order to support another human being that was developing.
Starting point is 00:31:43 And so I would say that eclipse and that experience of going from pre-motherhood to then raising my children is a huge chapter. So just seeing for yourself the rhythm of your life and looking back to that time and how has the rhythm of your life shifted now. What other kinds of shifts might you want to make, you know, personalizing it in this way? Part of the impulse of Virgo is to find a state of well-being. and health and to not overdue and obsess about that. Some of the shadow can go into looking at all the things that are wrong and getting worked up
Starting point is 00:32:24 and upset and worried about them. Part of the task for Virgo for each of us is to look at what is working, at least sometimes, and build from there. It's like shifting one eye, one eye attentive to or attuned to what. what's out of place, what is not working, what needs to be addressed, and the other, what is really in its own natural order and state and working and how to just keep supporting that process. Along with that and with entropy, there is the process of digestion. How do we digest our own life experiences? How do we digest? Virgo is connected to each sign has its guardian.
Starting point is 00:33:13 Mercury is the guardian of Virgo as well as Gemini. Some planets have two signs. And this connects with our mind. And all of the information, and looking back at those photos and thinking back to that eclipse in 2006, like the fraction of content information that each of us was consuming, it might have felt like a lot then, but it's so minuscule if you're paying attention to all the things that are going to. going on. It's like feeling stuffed all the time that causes indigestion in the system, in the mind. And so rituals for integrating, releasing, digesting, whatever it takes to
Starting point is 00:33:56 create breathing room and create space in our body, right, with food, digestion breaks things down. I don't know if technically, again, I'm not coming from the scientific definition of entropy very loosely, going from a state of order to disorder. When energy goes into a system and is available to be able to use, digestion breaks things down in a way that things become available. And then the waste is released out of the body. And without breaking down and digesting, there would be no benefit, no minerals, no transfer of the nutrients and the nourishment from food to the body.
Starting point is 00:34:43 So there's this process of transfer. If we're trying to hold things together all the time and not allow them to break down, looking at our lives and seeing what are the things that actually do need to break down a little bit to transfer, to transform, to shift to change, again, that mutable energy of Virgo that's like, let's kind of just shake things up a little bit. And even in the process of harvesting, like let's take something that's, that's, that's growing that's planted in the ground, but it's time to cut it, pick it, turn it into some kind of form that it's able to be preserved or consumed immediately or dried or whatever. This not wanting
Starting point is 00:35:23 anyone to see the cracks, patching up the cracks. If that process isn't working, then there's an obsession with youth culture where nothing gets old, where nothing breaks down physically. that it's somehow always in some state of perpetual youth. So in that way, Virgo initiates us into those waning mysteries, all of the waning. I'm kind of obsessed with waning. I was born on a waning moon, and I see that importance of the dispersal of the coming into form and then allowing for things to disperse and become compost and become shared, and maybe more widespread because it's not like holding things all together.
Starting point is 00:36:11 And too, with the structures in our life and the cracks of seeing through facades, having the discernment to see what is truly life-giving, what is a part of a healthy rhythm, what interrupts that, and what is completely outside of this process of renewal. And there's so many forces that are at play. And so, ah, life feels like a lot right now in terms of the lens of Virgo is tending to mental health.
Starting point is 00:36:49 There can be an overactivity of the mind of obsessive thoughts, of intrusive thoughts, to come back into the body. And one way to do that really is through rhythm, through movement, through breath, to give the mind a break, to seek support, so that the lived experience can also be the experience of the body, the gut, like the other brains in the body. The gut is the other one, and that's that pulse, right? The pulse of Virgo.
Starting point is 00:37:24 It's connected to the intestines and digestion and that function, but it's also in many ways it's connected to the pineal gland in the brain. the gland that helps with the regulation of rhythm in our life, the day-night cycles, the circadian, even the menstrual cycle, the things that go through cycles, Virgo, Pineal gland, these processes and parts of the body that contribute to that. And so working with the moon, and for me personally, the moon that I was born under, it was a waning moon,
Starting point is 00:38:02 but it was also in the sign of Virgo. And so astrology has helped me to understand. Often our moon sign is people don't see that on the surface. For a lot of our moon signs, it's maybe not even a dimension of ourself that we have access to. Because it's not outward facing. It's that inner landscape. It's the inner dimensions. And so, yeah, things make a lot more sense now.
Starting point is 00:38:29 With that understanding, and I would say because Virgo has, tendencies towards perfection. And perfectionism gets a really bad rap for good reason. It can be debilitating. But I think there's also an honoring of wanting things to be well made, wanting things to be well done. If anyone is a graphic designer, you would probably want them to have some strong Virgo because they're going to look at every single pixel.
Starting point is 00:38:58 And it's kind of the difference between measuring something and eyeballing something. I think both have value and I actually tend towards eyeballing things and my husband tends towards measuring them and sometimes measuring them like houses aren't even perfectly straight and we've lived in some like pretty old houses where I think it's better to eyeball something because then you're actually looking at it even if it measures and it's like oh well it's a half an inch off like very tiny amount but yet to the eye how does it look That's something to play with in Virgo land is can you eyeball something and just be okay with it, having this sensory experience of, okay, that looks right, or going in pixel by pixel,
Starting point is 00:39:48 and there is artistry to that as well. And some people have gifts that are the big picture. And then others are like the mouse where everything's right up front in front of your face. And you see every, every little detail. Actually, you don't know how mice are with their. vision, but that's just the animal that came to mind. Okay. If you're still here and following along with this storytelling, thank you. I hope that it has been something that you felt resonate within you in terms of relating to how it is that Virgo is a part of a process. And yes, it's a particular
Starting point is 00:40:24 sign. The poetry of entropy is there's no way to get ahead. We're all a part of we're all going to die. Like, that in itself is, wow, we're part of the same process that all of life on earth is a part of and to actually feel that connection rather than somehow being outside and having the delusion of like being young forever. I don't mean youth in terms of not having wrinkles. I mean youth in having fresh eyes on life. In that daily way where the mundane doesn't wear you down. There's so many ways to relate to the experience and of being a human that is a part of the laws and the functions and the processes that pertain to all of nature. So in summary, the body is our first ecosystem. Learning about our own body as an ecosystem and extending that out to the body of the earth,
Starting point is 00:41:25 feeling that connection. Okay. Thank you for being here. You can pre-order your lunation journal, which has all updated pages up front before the actual calendar starts. They're more interactive. This has a place for a moon map. I redid all of those this Virgo season. That was actually my Virgo activity was April, just leave good enough alone. Don't change it. And then feeling like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:41:53 It feels stagnant. And I want to renew this energy. And so I went in and I changed a couple pages. I'm like, you know what? It opened up. everything to shift and change. And it feels really good and it needed to happen. But I think I knew it was going to take time and effort to do that. And so that wavering around, oh, just leave it. Just leave it how it is. It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. To feeling like, yeah, but it could be better. And there is
Starting point is 00:42:22 a new fresh energy that wants to come in. And so I just let it happen. And it flowed through pretty easily in these last two weeks. It feels very Virgo and it feels very satisfying. Anything that you improve upon or refine that is deeply satisfying. The energy of Virgo wants things to get better. Really, really wants things to get better. And it can go into the shadow side of just wanting to help and wanting to be of service and wanting to make everything else better. Sometimes at the cost of not taking care of yourself, but sometimes maybe that person didn't ask for help. So just checking in to see if your help is welcomed. Yeah. I feel like I'm having a hard time ending this episode because there's more to say, but I love sharing about this. I want to be more in conversation about
Starting point is 00:43:17 the nature-based themes and how the signs of the zodiac connect us to the earth, to ourselves, to these processes that are a part of the cyclical nature of life and how they connect with the seasons. So join me for the Moon Mandala workshop that's on the 23rd of September. You are invited and I'll put the link in the show notes. And yeah, I was going to say keep breathing. I mean, that's like the least we can do. Just keep breathing. Breathe through that, that squeeze of the eclipse. I know so many people are feeling the squeeze right now for so many reasons, especially if you live in the United States. Keep, keep breathing, keep exhaling, keep envisioning and imagining what is on the other side of this. Sending many blessings.
