Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, this is Cooper at Bible Project. I produce the podcast in Classroom. We've been exploring a theme called the City, and it's a pretty big theme. So we decided to do two separate Q and R episodes about it. We're currently taking questions for the second Q and R and we'd love to hear from you. Just record your question by July 21st
Starting point is 00:00:17 and send it to us at infoatbiboproject.com. Let us know your name and where you're from, try to keep your question to about 20 seconds and please transcribe your question when you email it in, try to keep your question to about 20 seconds, and please transcribe your question when you email it in. That's a huge help to our team. We're excited to hear from you. Here's the episode.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Hey, this is John. And this is Tim. We make a lot of videos here at the Bible Project, but before any videos are made or even written, Tim and I first sit down and walk through a bunch of notes that he has, these conversations turn into the scripts for our videos. This is one of my favorite parts of this entire process of making the videos. I prepare these notes after reading for a long time. Sometimes the notes are waiting long, but it creates this opportunity for John and I to
Starting point is 00:01:01 walk through these biblical themes, concepts, or books of the Bible in a pretty deep way, and then we are able to distill that into the conversation that becomes the script of the video. We have a lot of episodes on the podcast about all sorts of subjects related to the Bible, things like understanding how characters work in the Bible. We talked about that in our How to Read the Bible series. For the most part, biblical narrators refrain from sermonizing or moralizing characters. What they do is just set their choices in front of you, and then you have to be the one to evaluate.
Starting point is 00:01:34 We also examine a lot of themes in the Bible. One theme that we did in the podcast of many is the theme of biblical justice. For the prophets, what does true justice look like? What does Mishpat and Mercy look like? We get nerdy. We look at the Hebrew mindset and we look at what these Hebrew words mean. One of my new favorite Hebrew words is nefesh, which we translate as soul. People often assume the idea of a eternal, non-physical existence.
Starting point is 00:02:04 Humans living on after death as disembodied souls forever and ever. That's a really important idea in the Bible, and I certainly thought that, till I actually started to read the Bible. So if you're interested in taking a deep dive into all things, Bible-, history, language and culture, and the main themes in the Bible.
